Cuff. We are here to discuss the launch games

for the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. With

me this week are Art Danner. Hi. And Sean Z Brown.

Hello. And if we sound tired, it's because we

just got done recording Episode 27. It takes

so much out of us, you know, sitting and talking.

It does. Having to come up with new jokes about

how undesirable Sean is to the human race, you

know He drains down oxygen. That is true No,

this is this is hard work for data because he

usually has to do this once a week now He has

to do it twice in one night It's probably him.

It's probably like he's taking vitamins. He feels

so empowered like oh, I usually just once a week

I'm actually feeling a little drained right now.

Not gonna lie. I'm a little A little exhausting.

I do it's drain Danner. It's hard For me to let

John, you know drain me so much So afterwards

nothing is hard. So for anyone still listening

we did record this this episode right after episode

27 because I Have to work next one, you know

the Wednesday that this you know, whatever day

that this comes out I have to work so we can't

record the episode that night because we will

be at Grand Con Gradcon the following weekend

shall we? Which is apparently Diablo 3 Diablo

3 So although not together you guys you guys

talk about your Diablo 3. I'm gonna take a nap

Okay, this is what interests me about the whole

game, right? This I I've been wanting to play

this game and wanting to play this game and then

all of a sudden it comes out I've already like

written it off because no one's gonna buy it

or whatever and then you Sean Z plays it I get

a text from Sean asked me if I'm gonna buy it

I get a text from Danner asked me about it and

I'm like fuck you guys I've been trying to get

people to play this because I knew what it was.

Way back when I was going to get it. Hey, all

I did when I texted you was go, Hey, is this

coming out on PlayStation 4? Cause I think I

want to pick it up. And you go yes, and I go

okay. That was the end of the conversation So

don't be putting shit on me because of the fact

that you're like I'm just asking what it was

coming out of ps4. That's all ass man, but I'm

like nobody was interested in it So I wrote it

off on the ps3 I'm like I will just get it out

of a PlayStation 4 and I was like I and I was

Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Ultimate Alliance mixed

with a little... Like Skyrim or something. Baldur's

Gate. Yeah. Setting -wise and everything else,

Baldur's Gate, Dark Alliance. Although it doesn't

have the water that Baldur's Gate, Dark Alliance

does. I heard everything breaks in the world

like it does in Baldur's Gate. Yes. just about

so um yeah i well funny you know kind of kind

of funny story because you know it came out last

tuesday um i know what was that tuesday last

tuesday tuesday yeah tuesday okay wait it came

out last tuesday yeah tuesday i then then we

totally missed that on last episode of releases.

We did. Tuesday. Well, whatever. Anyways. Not

Tuesday. Thank you, Danner. Tuesday? Are you

good? Tuesday! So. Oh my god. Oh, it's like amazing

that they let you people out of your cage. John,

my friend John called me on Saturday when he

was on his way home from the airport because

he was heading to Best Buy to buy some stuff.

He's like, what do I need to buy? Was I going

to buy Diablo 3? I was like, no, I'm just going

to wait and get it on the PlayStation 4 because

that's what I had told Danner. And he's like,

all right, so what should I get? And I was like,

I don't I don't know. He's like, should I get

a Vita? I was like. Sure. And then I was like,

holy crap, yes, get Evita and then get Dragon's

Crown. So he went ahead and did that. But long

story short, they released a demo for Diablo

3 today. Trouble. Yes, big trouble. Trouble for

Mike and his open wallet. Yeah, well I sat down

to play it. I downloaded the demo and I sat down

and I was like, hey, Ali, why don't you, you

know, you should play this with me because it's

got like co -op. And then I was kind of like,

well, it's a demo, so maybe it doesn't have co

-op in the demo because they like to do that.

And, you know, we sat down, we played it. I think

we played it for like maybe 30 minutes, maybe

30, 40 minutes. And then Ali like got up and

she went and got her purse and her shoes on and

everything. I was like, what do you do? She's

like, I'm going to the store. I'm like, what

do you do? She's like, I'm going to go buy this.

And I was like. Okay, well I'll go haves with

you that way we could buy it again on the PlayStation

4 and she was like Okay, so we you know The problem

is the thing I ran into with it was I knew that

I would like the game with a controller I knew

that because I played it on my Mac, you know

a year ago And I hated the mouse and keyboard

support. It just it just didn't feel right to

me. I like the direct control of the character

So I I knew the demo was going to be trouble.

And of course, Ali actually enjoyed the game

as well. It didn't help much at all with the

going to get a game. But I feel like it'll be

a good way to hold myself over until November

15th. I'm I was really trying for the I'm not

buying anything else until, you know, the next

gen consoles are released. And well, now I feel

like I might be able to achieve that more with

a game like Diablo three. So what classes are

you playing as um I'm right now. I'm playing

as a demon Okay, which is it's basically the

he's like the mechanical version of the wizard

or warlock Kind of yeah, he's all about bows

and crossbows and stuff like that Yeah, at least

that was my that was a character I used on the

about him Dual wielding crossbows is not nearly

as awesome as it should be because it does he

only aim at one target No, well, he doesn't he

it's not he shoots both at the same time. So

you don't really double your output He shoots

one than the other Like your rate of speed does

not increase Hmm all that changes like say they

have different abilities like say one catches

shit on fire one steals life Well, it'd be like

fire steal life. That's the only benefit to it.

Okay, but in order to do that you give up the

power of a two -handed weapon Or if you're using

a single -handed one you give up the defense

of having a shield too, right? So I I tried Soon

as I saw you could do that. I want to do that

and as soon as I did it I was like nope going

back to the bow Like a crossbow. I think is what

I'm using right now actually I mean not I mean

not to beat down on the game because I do think

on the console is very good The one thing I didn't

like they carried over from the PC version was

no matter what like with a melee character like

I'm I'm playing as a monk and I had a feeling

you would I equipped her with like a long sword

A two -handed longsword. You are - you're playing

as a chick. Yeah. I want to look at something

nice while I'm playing the game. What gives?

So, I - Stare at a man's ass like a man would.

So, I - you - you know, when I'm not fighting

anybody, she's carrying around this giant longsword,

and I'm like, okay, this is cool. And then I

go up to attack somebody and she just attacks

them with their fist. Like, she has the damage

bonuses of the sword, but she's not swinging

the sword. really the sword ends up on her back,

and she just ends up punching or kicking and

It doesn't even like it's not just the long sword

either because I equip it with like a short sword

where she's got one the sword in one Hand and

nope she just ends up punching people But I like

I said I get the damage and they is that because

they because Monks share the will they must share

the same weapons as the other melee classes then

Well, I think I mean it would it tells like me.

I can't I could yeah, but I'm saying is that

Does that mean they can put in any kind of? What

do you mean? Of the melee weapons, like swords,

axes? I can use those. But you use lances, too,

or? Yes. But the animations aren't there for

her to actually hit things with them. Like it's

just it just ends up being like her hands and

face is supposed to be like that. That's the

way it was on the PC. So I don't think it's just

it's just it's it's kind of It's kind of off

putting, um, when you, when, when, when, you

know, that's, I don't know. That's just, it's

just weird. But I do like that when you start

the game, you're essentially just fighting for

clothing. Yeah, pretty much. You start out with

nothing. Yeah. So, um, I'm enjoying it. I will

be playing more of it, um, with, you know, with

my wife. Cause she's, she's, she's enjoying it.

I, I did start as the, um, the wizard cause in

the demo, you're only able to use the wizard

and the barbarian. Oh, yeah, yeah, but the demos

actually a pretty good chunk the demo is the

entire first act Okay, now you're where does

the first X the skeleton King? Okay, cuz I'm

like or the the one that's all ghostly right?

Yeah, I'm just about to be him. I've been taking

like what level are you? We're almost ten Yeah,

I'm like right there. I keep going like I am

uncovering every bit of every map. Yeah when

I do it Do I I find myself accidentally rolling

a lot We alley, and I roll everywhere because

it sounds like horses running what is well I

use like the shadow hunter has like this ability

where you can like Click quickly dash like almost

teleport. Yeah, it uses up stuff, but if I'm

just going from A to B. It's way faster, right

I Find myself rolling on accident just and it's

not the fault of the controls. It's because all

movement is the left stick. The right stick is

only for dodging. And I'm just not used to it

yet. I just have not played enough of it. I'm

used to right stick controlling the camera, so

I keep finding myself trying to turn the camera.

Even though I'm just stupid. Yep, I agree with

that. Oh my God, you're still here? Barely. Kind

of sleeping. Alright, we're gonna wrap this up

here in just one second. I like the co -op, like

I like the split screen, it's not even split

screen, it's just like Dark Alliance or Ultimate

Alliance. You just share the screen? You share

the screen, but they do something nice where

if you get too far, like let's say Ali puts the

controller down to go get a drink or something,

I can keep running and her character will run

with me. It just pulls her along well No, it

doesn't even pull her along like she won't it

won't it's not like she'll be on the edge of

the screen She'll just end up running kind of

behind me And if she gets like stuck behind like

a fence or something and she gets too far I can't

it doesn't like anchor me to her it they'll teleport

her to me Now is that only what if two people

are actually trying to run the opposite directions

I? I think the game actually seems kind of intelligent.

Does it default to whoever's the party leader?

I want to say yes, but at the same time no, because

I know her and I, like when you're in the little

town of like Tristan, we've run opposite directions

before and hit the edges of the screen and nothing,

the game didn't do anything to like force her

to me. I think it's only when, it only does the

teleporting thing when one of the people, when

one of the characters gets stuck behind something.

Like if you've been, if you've been pulled, If

the camera's been pulled too far and you can't

move your character between like whatever you're

stuck behind and like the edge of the screen

Like if you can't navigate around it to get yourself

unstuck it will automatically teleport you So

it's kind of it seems kind of smart um I thought

there was like some kind of like four player

split screen too where it could split into four

sections or something, but I I haven't played

with four can you even play four people on the

same xbox? Have you tried that? Maybe that only

works with around the same You could do four

people on the ps3. I know that well no or whatever

on the same system I mean, yes, but I haven't

tried that I have I've played with one other

person for like 10 seconds, but he like he didn't

talk So I was like gone by oh, I we haven't gone

online and play with anybody yet I will say that

I do think this may be the version of For better

or worse this may be the version of Diablo 3

that people wanted Because in the network settings

on the ps3 there are the LAN settings and Diablo

3 is not playable over a LAN on the PC. Are there

LAN settings on the 360? Have you looked at that

stuff? Not really. Alright. Dan, are you sure

you haven't played anything? Um... The Simpsons

tapped out. PixelJunk Monsters? No? I can't...

I don't remember. I'm sure... I'm sure I've played

don't actually think I've played anything. I

it's been executed properly yet. I think it's

they'll actually finally kind of correct that

formula and make it interesting Yeah, they're

taking a lot of stuff from my understanding They're

taking a lot of stuff from two and improving

it to make it more accessible. Oh Have either

not this is something I hate about some video

games in the game in one and two in order to

save the game You have to get to a bathroom.

to all the stuff from the first and second one,

like you can only save in bathrooms, and stuff

like that. Which is not how you'll be playing.

God no. And then the second one they introduce

weapon combining like you can take um paddles

from like a canoe and hook them with chainsaws

and get basically like a a double lightsaber

but with chainsaws It would be double chainsaws

not double whatever Why do you compare it to

one thing that it's totally not I don't understand

Here's what we do. Let's talk about the fighter

is in that game you had to bring stuff back to

an area to combine them now You're just gonna

be able to do it on the fly if I find two things

in the world that can combine I just can combine

without using them to a different area to combine

montage and then you come back and beat the bully

game where you had to buy all of your characters

think the Lego games are very fun and they are

fact that the new Xbox is going to be like have

sports updates, and you can watch football on

it, and BWAH! Could care less. Well, they tried

to do that with the stupid ESPN shit. That worked,

ESPN on there and people could watch games, but

it failed in the fact that I don't fucking care

about sports. From what I've heard from a couple

of podcasts recently, that TV stuff is not ready

to go. So that'll be another thing that people

won't be happy It's not that the technology that

they have with like the existing cable boxes

in people's homes is not smart enough to Mean

the technology is too dumb to do what they want

to do. Yeah, like for instance, let's say you've

got your you know, you Like all that NFL stuff

that they're hyping And this is all we'll say

about this. All the all the sports and the integrated

TV stuff that they're hyping that you can see

like on your dashboard and stuff. That's all

apps that you just set up and they run on the

side. The Xbox has no idea. What channel you're

actually like watching, so it can't change the

apps or the information given to you based like

if you change like the channel, you know what

I'm saying? Like. It's not the cable box can't

tell like the Xbox can tell the cable box to

change the channel But the cable box can't tell

the Xbox what's actually playing so stuff doesn't

The whole system is just not right. Anyways,

it's dumb. Yeah Now this was a point of contention

a couple weeks ago because there's also a version

of this coming to the ps4 Minecraft Xbox one

edition Not now with more blockiness not to be

confused with the Minecraft PlayStation 4 edition

which apparently according to Microsoft Totally

different the Minecraft Xbox one edition is exclusive

to the Xbox one no shit You know it's gonna be

different one's gonna say Xbox one edition and

one's gonna say PlayStation 4 edition Yep, and

that makes it an exclusive people One's gonna

have Halo helmets in it, and the other one's

gonna have Drake heads in it. I'll take Drake

Now we've got Daner's other two favorite games.

Oh god. NBA 2K14 and returning for the first

time in what, four years? NBA Live 14? Oh, I'm

so excited I literally couldn't give a shit.

Alright, here's one for ya. Peggle 2. I like

Peggle. I like Peggle 2, but who the hell would

want to play it on? I don't know. Yeah, whatever.

Power Star Golf. Your mom's a Power Star Golf.

Rise. It kind of looks interesting if you like

those types of games. Yeah, I mean, I've heard,

you know, a lot of people call it like QuickTime,

you know, the QuickTime Event Central after E3

and stuff like that, but apparently that's not

what it is. It's just what the developer chose

to show off, which I guess was the wrong thing

to do. I mean, it's a Crytek game, so it's going

to look pretty. I'm just not interested in it.

I have to assume that it's just a God of War

reskin. Very pretty God of War reskin well much

like you know Saints Row 4 was just reskin in

Saints Row 3 Something I'm kind of following

a little bit Skylanders swap force I Got an affinity.

I'm good. Yeah, I don't know if I'll end up getting

this or not We can switch the legs and the heads

and whatever zoo tycoon because Just like Peggle,

who needs to play this on their TV. Yeah, that's

kind of the... Yeah. And last two, Zumba Fitness

World Party. Oh, you know it. Finally! I've been

waiting for that. I needed a reason for the connect,

right? There it is. And lastly is Watch Dogs.

Yay! I want that game. So now we get to have

fun here, okay? If, in a world of if, if you

had pre -ordered an Xbox One and you were getting

one on launch day, what games would you be picking

up with it? An Xbox One? Yep. Dead Rising 3.

That would be it. Not Ghost, not Assassin's Creed

4, not Watch Dogs. I guess I lied. I would...

Dead Rising 3 would be the one exclusive that

I would... Pick up I would pick up ac4 and ghosts

and watch dogs. Okay. I think the best way to

the answer this is pick up is exclusive because

At that point you're then it doesn't matter what

system you have you're basing out on the game

So I would I would say that of those of the games

you just mentioned the only one that makes me

want to be like I totally play that it would

be Dead Rising 3. Yeah, I mean honorable mentions

here obviously Need for Speed Rivals will also

be on November 22nd for the Xbox One as will

Call of Duty and Battlefield 4 and Assassin's

Creed 4. Those will also be available on November

22nd. Now, on to the high point and possibly

kind of the low point as well. Yes, the Wii U

2. Yep. I really hope that's what they name the

next console for them if they you know don't

what it's gonna come down to is how the game

feels not spending money on it and What their

microtransaction model is yeah, it needs to be

The way I feel, if it's this good, if it's anywhere

close to as addictive as War Thunder is and their

their model is similar, I can see myself spending

money on it. It just it. Can't be one of those

games where me and you were playing against each

other. I decided to spend ten dollars on the

game Now the only way you can even have a chance

of killing me is if you spend money. It can't

be if it's like that Yeah, I don't think war

thunder doesn't feel like that. So um, yeah But

war thunder wouldn't be as fast pace. I don't

think is this no, but it can be it can get kind

of crazy Especially the little chat window man.

wish this sounds like a game I want to play just

because contrast makes me think of like black

game is kind of trying to... to to dig up or

get its hooks into people i think that's more

promising than the actual game maybe but i feel

like criterion or i feel like criterion ghost

studios and dice are going to be able to pull

that off better in need for speed rivals so um

the game everybody's been waiting for just dance

2014 moving on killzone shadowfall This game

looks really good. I'm not a killzone guy in

this game. I played what was the newest one that

came out on please station three? Three yeah,

I played that and it's just It's just weird.

It's floaty. I don't trolls bother me. It's It's

just weird. I don't I Didn't get into I played

I played the story through and I thought that

was pretty cool Think I played multiplayer with

you a little bit, right? We were like this is

I think we played like for like one afternoon

2. Was that mag? No, we played mag to separate

like they can't figure out controls for the life

looking that the controller lag is something

that they can't fix because of system resources

fixed with the improved controller for the PlayStation

4? Don't know because we're not able to play

these games ourselves. Next up is Knack. It's

your stereotypical action platformer launch title

that's just there to show off how powerful the

CPU is. Look what this can do. There will not

be a second one of these. And if Danner was going

to let his kid play with his PlayStation 4, he'd

probably end up buying Knack. Yep, but I'm not

gonna let that happen. However, he is gonna buy

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes and the PlayStation

4. Eventually. Possibly. When Graydon's old enough.

So we've also got NBA 2K14 and NBA Live 14 coming

on this day as well. And now we've got The Playroom,

which is actually just coming preloaded on all

of the PlayStation 4s. and the stuff that i've

seen inside of the playroom actually had me put

the i had the playstation eye camera in my like

pre -order for like a couple of hours the other

day i could really i'm sure i'll end up buying

it at some point but i couldn't really bring

myself to buy it at launch to buy what i'm sorry

the camera oh the camera yeah so Mainly because

you don't have to use the stupid wand anymore

to use it because the sensors actually built

into the controller itself Another game I'm looking

forward to, Rezogun Which is also free on day

one with the PlayStation Plus It's made by Housemarquee.

They made Super Stardust HD, which is actually

one of my favorite PlayStation 3 games Then we've

also got Skylanders Swap Force Super Motherload

which I have not heard of that sounds it's like

regular mother load, but it's like the next version

am really excited for We have Warframe. Again,

special that we're doing in November of the release

games and this actually is the biggest list of

launch games I think this is the biggest launch

List we've had for a generation because I mean,

Wasteland and gun Hey gun was a good game even

if it was a port, uh, shut up Screw you that

game. That was a good game. I'll say it all day
