About this Episode

Stephen explores the growing meatless burger industry and the shift toward plant-based alternatives like the Impossible and Beyond Burgers. He also shares concerns about contemporary children's programming and animation, touches on recent streaming service trends, and discusses his experience with the Battlefield 1 Incursions alpha.

Hello and welcome to Altered Geek. I'm your host,

Stephen Phillips. And as usual, I'll be talking

the world of geek. And if you want to hear any

of my commentary or comments on Star Trek, head

on over to Future Imperfect. And if you want

to hear my Transformers conversation, go to All

Things Transformers. Little known fact, I'm going

to be making all three of these shows weekly.

Yeah, we're gonna see how that plays up. So I

couldn't keep it together for three of Altered

Geek, but I can keep it together for three different

shows entirely. But in an actuality, I would

have talked about all the same stuff on this

show had I not separated them. So yeah, they'll

just be a little bit shorter if need be. So I'm

not gonna talk Discovery. I'm saving all that

for Future Imperfect next week. I'm saving all

my Transformers talk for all things Transformers.

So we're gonna get into... Another little conversation

that eventually I'm going to be spinning off

all my superhero news to Legends of the Dark

Knights feed, which will be retitled Legends

of the Brave and the Bold. So if you're interested

in the superhero aspect and all the news they're

in, I'm going to move all that over there. I

might touch briefly on stuff here, but I'm going

to mostly turn this into a topical show again,

covering like... Couple different topics in the

episode maybe a little bit of news, but not really

the news It's gonna be more so just kind of a

soapbox like it used to be Because I missed that

Not saying that superheroes or Star Trek or any

of that stuff won't peel into that but I'll definitely

be keeping it a lot lighter in this show. So

without further ado Let's talk some TV so I was

just doing a search on social media and I had

seen something that pertained to kids programming.

There's this thing called KidsClickTV .com and

I had no idea what this was to begin with. The

funny thing about it is it's a station that can

be watched in a variety of places around the

United States. I did not know that it existed

before now. So, where I live in the Flint, Michigan

area, there's a station called Kids Collect TV.

It's in Detroit, it's in most major metro areas.

Dallas has it, everywhere has it. And what it

is, is it's a kids programming station that has

a variety of Basically like how your Saturday

morning cartoons would be So they have a Monday

through Friday schedule granted a lot of the

shows aren't quality programming at least by

my standards They're not I Wouldn't let my kids

watch any of these but that's because I have

higher taste Than what's here? But they have

Rocket Monkeys, they have Max Steel, Angry Birds,

Toons, Miraculous Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir,

Rocket Monkeys again, Super Four. This is all

between six and nine in the morning. And then

on Saturdays and Sundays... because that was

weekdays, they have Pac -Man and the Ghostly

Adventures on at 7, Scary Larry at 7 .30, then

they have Super Four, Pink Panther and Pals,

I didn't even know they had a reboot of that,

Zack Storm and Miraculous again. So it's between

7 and 10. Another thing that was kind of funny

that they show that some of the other cartoons

that they carry as well, they have the Robocop

Alpha Commando included in that as well. And

I was like, oh, I think I remember that show,

unless it's a new one. And it appears to be the

old show, which I thought was kind of amazing

in itself that it was still around, because it

was the 1998 series. So it looks like kind of

a discount TV series station for kids, which

has promise. However, I'm not sure how well that's

gonna stick around, but it's kind of cool that

they have, it's on mostly the point something

channels, like they're those weird like, for

Flint it's in the 17 .3 for instance, so it's

not actually a regular cable station you would

get unless you had like the airwave type of stuff.

or a particular kind of cable, but it's still

interesting to know that there's still kids programming

on television, considering after the death of

Saturday morning cartoons a few years back, it

pretty much left it all to Cartoon Network, and

they were pretty much unrivaled, whereas back

in the the 90s, every station under the sun had

their own cartoon block, whether it was CBS,

NBC, ABC, Fox, USA, UPN, they all had them. So

I thought it was kind of interesting that that

was there. And then, of course, the first trailer

for the Magic School Bus Rides Again dropped

on Netflix, and it's supposed to be a continuation,

funny enough, of the original one. And I checked

out the trailer. Obviously, it's the new animation

style of everything, but they have Ms. Frizzle,

the original character of the show. being reprised

by Lillie Tomlin, which I thought was kind of

funny that they had her come back, and she more

or less gives the keys to the bus to her younger

sister, who's played by Kate McKinnon of SNL,

to be Fiona Frizzle. So it's got Lin -Manuel

Miranda playing the new theme song. Again, it's

a little interesting. We'll see where it goes

and what kind of crazy science they teach kids

now. since everything changes based on beliefs

now. Additionally, moving on from the whole animation

block anyway, Netflix also had Fuller House Season

3 trailer and of course then Season 3 dropped

since that came out. I have yet to watch it.

I'm not really sure how it's going to take, being

that they had the original... most of the original

cast is back in this. They have John Stamos,

Dave Coulier, and... God, I can't remember his

name... Bob Saget back, playing in the show again,

which is interesting. But it's also the show's

30th anniversary, so I think that has... It has

a lot to do with it, which is kind of interesting.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm probably gonna check it

out. I don't think it's gonna be very good, but

we'll check it out. My thoughts of television

today is just not very good. There's a lot of

shows that I just don't find to be very entertaining

anymore. We'll see how much I end up continuing

to watch, that being said. Then jumping into

the fact that Netflix, which this isn't really

surprising, has been kind of flailing as far

as the stock market's concerned because there's

more competition now. In addition to Netflix,

FX Network is also going to have its own FX Plus

and ad -free on -demand service for $5 .99 a

month. Then we have Amazon Prime, and then we

have the cable packages. Then we have CBS All

Access, which they're trying to pony up with

the paywall for Star Trek Discovery, which lo

and behold, they've discovered that Discovery...

and this is kind of a segue here for all these

different streaming services, but I don't think

it's a good idea to have all of these streaming

services. It works in some regards for original

content type things. Netflix kind of revolutionized

this entire industry and now everyone's copying

it. And Hulu granted has been involved in this

too, like almost neck and neck with Netflix to

this point. but they've discovered that Star

Trek Discovery has had a huge pirating base because

of the fact that nobody wants to pay for this

paywall and unfortunately the show's going to

suffer because of it and I think that it's this

is going to happen with a lot more programming

I don't think Star Trek is going to be the only

exclusive casualty of of a paywall, I think there's

gonna be more series going exclusive only to

different services, which in turn is going to

cause not only cable internet prices to go up,

if you think about it, because if people are

dropping cable, and they're gonna be using bandwidth

more, where are they gonna pick up that cost?

So you're gonna probably see that. You're gonna

see a lot more of these streaming services, which

at this point, I just, I don't want. Disney's

gonna have their own as we've mentioned before

It's just it's crazy when you think about it

how How this this stuff is going anymore I I

am NOT a Proponent of these extra paid services.

I won't sign up for them. I'm considering canceling

Netflix as it is There's not enough on there

for me to want to watch watch Hulu, I watch Netflix,

but same token really the only thing I watch

on it is Star Trek which is available on either

one and it's more or less figuring out which

one has more programming that I intend to watch

over the other at this point and I'm not paying

extra for CBS All Access just to get the original

series or get this this new Discovery series

which is a Kelvin timeline knockoff which Since

I'm on this boat, a few things I've been reading

is CBS has decided to call STD or DIC or DIS,

I mean Discovery or STD, the prime timeline,

but only as a marketing term, not to be confused

with the original timeline. So they've termed

it and recoined it. So in other words they've

created this third universe because I didn't

really realize what the stipulations were back

when they did this but Paramount Has like the

movie rights to some degree, but CBS actually

owns all of it now so When we got the next generation

in all those previous shows, that's why they

all had the basically the same aesthetic until

Recent times and that's why we have all this

shiny crap that we've got on the new show so

It sounds like the designers actually wanted

more the original series like uniforms, but CBS

wanted something completely original So I'm not

entirely sure I'm gonna flesh that out more and

do more research on that when I go to do Future

imperfect, but it's it's it's a little disconcerting

to see this Regardless of what So that being

said I'm gonna take a quick break, kinda come

back with some movie news that I... Well, we'll

just come back after the break. And we're back.

So, some of the movie universe has some things

I'm pretty excited for. Not only do we have Kingsman

the Secret Service coming out soon, but we'll

also have Blade Runner. And I intend on checking

out both, obviously. And then we've shortly thereafter

got a lot of other movies like Thor Ragnarok,

Justice League, Star Wars, Jumanji, and then

next year Super Troopers. But I found a few others

that I'm kind of interested in. And one of them

is Matt Damon's movie, Downsizing. It's got,

basically the premise of it is... society has

reached this point of overpopulation, they're

running out of land, they're running out of everything.

So they've created these like little mini cities,

mini everything so that they can shrink people

down in this permanent downsizing. So they create

these villages of sorts and have people in this

small compact size and little compact cities

and... The premise of it looks interesting. It

looks like it's gonna be kind of funny kind of

a drama I Just wonder what the catch is gonna

be in the film It's it's I mean, it's definitely

a sci -fi movie. It's done by Christophe Waltz

but It's something completely original and different

to the point that I'm really interested So it's

almost like a honey. I shrunk the kids aspect

with the people But it's done in such a way that

I really don't know how to describe it. It seems

completely original to me, unlike a lot of what's

in Hollywood these days. And I'm also a fan of

Matt Damon, so I'll pretty much watch most stuff

that has him in it. But yeah, it's kind of just

interesting and the whole premise of being shrunk

down to solve the problem of overpopulation Which

kind of reminds me of a radio clip I heard probably

six months eight months ago where they're talking

about people being shrunk down to fit on horses

that were miniature horses that Were bred to

be small and it just it makes me laugh so There's

also the Halloween sequel coming in 2018, which

will have Jamie Lee Curtis reprising her original

character role of Laurie Strode in the first

two Halloween films and Halloween Resurrection.

However, the reprisal, it sounds like it's gonna

be the last time we've received this character,

and I'm thinking that it's gonna be like a permanent

removal. Because she even posted and Miramax

posted that she's returning to her iconic role

in Halloween October 19th 2018 I think that it's

it's gonna be interesting because it's not going

to be a reboot of the original It's gonna be

a sequel basically Taking over the story of the

events of Halloween 2 and the addition kind of

puts it much further in the future kind of skipping

over a lot of the other films. So I think it'll

be pretty interesting, pretty fun. I'm interested

just on the sheer fact that it's a continuation

of the film, but it also kind of fits along with

these other films such as Die Hard, Terminator,

and all these other films that keep coming back

with the original actors portraying their character.

Look at Blade Runner 2049 with Harrison Ford,

Star Wars Episode VII with Harrison Ford and

I mean it's it's crazy seeing these old film

icons coming back to do one last hurrah as their

original characters that that kind of got them

into the big leagues and I'm kind of enjoying

that honestly so since I already mentioned that

about Terminator or people joining back up Terminator

reboot is starting to shoot in 2018 directed

by Deadpool's director Tim Miller and It's gonna

be interesting because it's It's gonna be a direct

continuation of Terminator 2 judgment day And

it's going to be produced under the guidelines

of James Cameron himself with Arnold once again

returning So they're saying that it's more or

less going to wipe out Terminator 3, 4, and 5

of Genesis, which was supposed to be the reboot.

And the great part about this is they're also

going to not only ignore the last three movies,

but they're going to play around with the fact

that there's an older T -1000 because it's supposed

to be a learning or a t -800 A learning machine,

so they're actually going to make him learn as

it ages And They're also going to have Linda

Hamilton reprising her role as Sarah Connor another

kind of slam dunk here, too I don't know. I think

it's kind of smart going back and doing this

and then Kind of giving these franchises new

blood with using old blood to to kind of continue

it I Don't know. I'm just I think that because

we've had so many bad Terminator films. I'm kind

of excited to see this happen But I think Cameron's

also wanting to do this because He wants to because

Linda Hamilton was this Strong female character

from back in the day that that was killing bad

guys So they're gonna make her you know obviously

with being 50s 60s and in aging actors and everything

they're gonna Use her to kind of show that even

if they're old they're still strong kind of thing

So I don't know I'm I'm excited for it either

way whatever way they go about it. You know they're

still gonna have Like John Connor and some other

characters it would be interesting to see who

they pull out of the ether to do this film and

then Jumanji came out with another trailer which

I thought was funny they had Kevin Hart's character

it says weakness cake and he eats cake he explodes

and then it shows one life gone out of three

I found it very humorous when I saw the trailer.

I think that that continuation reboot is going

to be pretty good too. These are some of the

exceptions to my reboot rule of things that are

going to be actually pretty good. They're even

making a continuation to Unbreakable. M. Night

Shilemon's upcoming sequel is called Glass. and

They're gonna have somebody come back as the

security guard Bruce Willis's son in this and

then They're gonna have Mrs. Glass's mother and

then Sam Jackson supposed to be possibly in this

I'm not entirely sure but I guess that glass

is supposed to pick up where James McAvoy's split

leaves off which begs to wonder how weird this

little quasi -superhero slash comic universe

is. I've never seen that split, but I don't know

if this is really needed, unlike the other ones.

So, although there is something pretty cool.

Netflix is now offering the ability to watch

and stream on airplanes, which I Know that they

have their own streaming services on some of

them and it's limited Because I did that when

I flew down to Dallas and in May I was able to

watch I actually watched Star Wars Rogue one

on the airplane, which was awesome. It was on

Delta and then on the way back I rode spirit

where You're basically in a lawn chair with nothing

else. No USB charger, nothing. You're just, that's

it. But iTunes is going to offer 48 -hour rentals

in the United States of films. So you can now

rent movies. But you have 30 days to start watching

the film. It's offered 48 -hour rentals elsewhere

throughout the world, but it was different in

the US until now. But yeah, it's available everywhere

but China because that's piracy capital of the

world So with that I'm gonna take another quick

break and be back after this Today's show is

brought to you by gamefly .com by signing up

for a free trial today. So go to gameflyoffer

.com slash altered geek. That's gameflyoffer

.com slash altered geek for your free 30 day

trial. And we're back. So one of the other things

I've been really excited about, I got alpha access

to watch you might ask. Battlefield 1 Incursions.

I got this access funny enough last week, and

I had a chance to try it out. Really, it's not

any different than Battlefield 1. I'm sad to

say that, but yeah. And the main thing that they're

trying to do is build more team building, more...

competitive play kind of forcing everyone to

have to pick a Pick a type of character that

or a different role So like you you get one medic

you get one assault you get one support one recon

one You know, they have five or six different

classes you can choose from in this this little

Staging and the funny thing is is I get into

the the alpha and this was like day two there's

nobody playing. There was like one game going

and there was maybe, I had to wait 20 minutes

to get 10 people in a game. It was horrible.

So I tried playing the game and went in, I mean

it was fine. You couldn't really change, once

you were in the game you could not change your,

or at least I couldn't figure out how to get

it to work, change your class that you played

as. And then not to mention it, I mean a lot

of it's the same maps and everything and the

same kind of play and you just were kind of you

were forced to play as a team more and The unfortunate

part is there really wasn't anything that special

about it. I mean, I feel bad saying that I was

glad I got the the alpha access, but there was

really nobody playing and It was kind of surprising

considering how hot the game was when it when

Battlefield 1 was announced, and then I got Alpha,

Beta, and then EA Play, and then I bought the

game. I played it all the way through that entire

process of the original game coming out, and

the game was awesome. They just came out with

a release two of the patch, so I'm not entirely

sure what that consists of. But there's really

nothing going for it at this point. The matchmaking

and UI is better than Battlefield 1 and it's

a lot easier to quit. I just think the server

browser and the fact that nobody cares about

it kind of speaks volumes when everybody keeps

going back to Battlefield 4 to play. Mean the

squad I play with the fast -action response team

Put that together on your own and figure out

the acronym is That's our clan We there's like

40 of us that play in this and they're all people

ranging from 20 to 60 something years old and

These guys are you really freaking good. I'm

kind of middle class in the game, so it depends

on what I play. If I play Battlefield 1, I'm

a really good sniper. I'm a really good sniper,

and I like to blow buildings up. So that's pretty

much my forte in Battlefield 1. Battlefield 4,

I like to run through with a anti -tank rocket

launcher called an M -Law. That's kind of my

forte there. I like to just destroy everything.

Buildings, whatever, it doesn't matter. I will

shoot the ground so I can take myself out with

somebody else. So the fact that we actually quit

playing Battlefield 1 to go back to Battlefield

4 just speaks volumes how much people are kind

of done with it and they want more of the fun

back without getting this sci -fi way of Call

of Duty but not for some reason it's not going

over well anymore with this game and everybody

keeps going back to the older game. So I'm not

entirely sure why but like I said the the incursions

closed alpha I want to like it but it's kind

of more the same I think I would have been happier

if there was I mean you basically I mean and

I think that you get to unlock the same stuff

you do at Battlefield 1 but I don't I don't know

if you're gonna have to buy this separate I don't

know what the purpose of it is it I mean I would

hope it's an add -on that they just give you

But if they're doing like the battlefield hard

lines type thing, I will not be purchasing this

So I'm kind of glad I got to play around with

it so if anybody else has gotten closed alpha

for this or any other game really and wants to

make a comment on how That process has been for

them or what kind of games that they've gotten

closed alpha for or closed beta I'd be interested

to know so We've had a little bit of fun on social

media. I've been stoking the fires lately with

different comments. And it's not been that bad.

I mean, I say that like, oh, we've been causing

such a stir. But it's been less of that. It's

been more of just the weird conversations coming

up. Like, I've noticed that... Collider said

something about Danny Elfman doing a Justice

League score but puts a dark twist on John Williams

Superman theme which to me is like why and Booth

Ninja Mike Powers of the show says don't worry

somehow it'll end up sounding just like 1989

Batman score that he's used for every other superhero

theme he's done since and one of the guys of

the show Tim, he puts this gif of data from The

Next Generation just laughing hysterically, which

I can't help but laugh at as well. I think that's

quite humorous, actually. So, we got a little

bit of feedback, and this was from Scanner51.

He says, as always, I'm loving the show. This

is in regards to a couple of shows ago where

cord cutting came up. Where I kinda mentioned

about the different streaming services and cord

cutting and who doesn't, who doesn't. He says,

as I said before, we just bought a new house

and my wife said, time to cut the cord. So we

hooked the internet and bought Netflix. Then

I went to cancel DirecTV and they told me they

were going to give me an extra 200, that it was

going to be an extra 250 to cancel. because they're

still under contract. Needless to say, my wife

changed her mind, but in DirecTV's defense, they

did lower my bill by $150. Holy crap, dude, how

much are you paying for that? If they lowered

your bill by $150? So internet and DirecTV will

now only be costing me 60 bucks a month. Oh,

wow. So you were paying over $200 for this. I

can't even fathom spending that much on internet

and television. There's no way. No way at all.

Wow. I can't tell you, I've not actually had

actual cable in years. I think I had it for a

whole 15 days and I told them to take that crap

out of my house and I went right to the broadband.

And I've done Netflix and everything since. And

I've gone directly to the publishers like ABC,

Fox, I've gone directly to their website to stream

the shows I like just from their website because

I'm not gonna pay for cable. Or you get out my

antenna and I use that, which works when my kids

don't mess with it. It worked better when I had

my big entertainment center. Now that I don't,

it's more of a play thing that they like to go

after in the middle of the living room. So he

says, when we record cutters for all of two weeks,

fun experiment while it lasts. Maybe at the end

of our contract we'll cut it for real, only time

will tell. Also, I can't remember, but I thought

streaming devices was brought up some time ago.

I think it was two, and I planned on revisiting

it at some point, but I might wait for BoothNinja

to come back on this before I go all out on the

streaming again. He says, but the one that he

uses is Google Chromecast. The G1 and G2 both

work great and are handy as heck. I highly recommend

it. Downside, I've gotten lazy and I don't grab

the Blu -ray for the movie I want to watch anymore.

Grab my iPhone or phone. I have 80 % of all my

movies saved among three different phones. Great

show and until next time, hashtag what's geeky

to you. So yes, if you would like to interact

with the show, whether by email or on Twitter,

on Twitter you can do so with the hashtag what's

geeky to you. Or you can comment on email feedback

at altered geek comm I will get either one I

have Been scouring the internet for for comments

of varying degrees So yeah, I've I've got most

of my movies saved on a hard drive Because I've

saved my discs because my kids like to take them

and try and jam them in the Blu -ray player and

have ruined a couple. They've also snapped the

door off my Blu -ray player before so having

it across the external hard drive kind of works

better. And I have a compact flash drive that

I usually plug into the front so it can't get

snapped off because my oldest did that a couple

years ago too. luckily had everything backed

up which is why I keep backups of everything

because when you have kids especially in the

modern era where it's not a VHS tape or VCR which

back in those days people kids used to just jam

toys in the middle of VCR because it was big

enough I was guilty the the the Blu -ray players

just get broken too easily so I'm mostly trying

to stream stuff from my portable PC that I have

in my living room it's It's actually a really

nice device it dual boots Android 5 .0 and Windows

10 Which I never use the Android part. I use

Windows 10. It's got four gigs of RAM It's it's

got SD memory and it works pretty decently fast.

I mean I've got a Bluetooth Remote that goes

to it and a keyboard so I can type It I mean

I have no no problems with it. I use it for all

my streaming. I use it for my Netflix Hulu because

I like the web interface better and I can stream

from any site. So that's why I use that. So on

a little topical note, as everyone knows, my

wife and I have been eating healthy and have

been doing this whole not eating meat thing for

the most part. Granted, I still eat meat. I still,

it's not like it's something I've sworn off,

we just don't buy it in the house. However, I

get lucky increasingly in the last few weeks

because my wife keeps finding meat in the freezer

and I'm like, yes, because I'm the only one in

the house that eats it. So it was wonderful for

me today when I had lunch because... I had a

nice chicken sandwich that looked like a McChicken

and I was quite happy. So made me feel pretty

good. The point I'm trying to make here is I

don't know if you've heard of these things called

meatless meat burgers and there's a science behind

it. I was doing research the other day. I saw

an article on What was that site again? It was

on wired and they had the impossible burger and

the fact that they use this this strange science

of fake meat that bleeds So it bleeds and it

tastes and it smells like beef You might be asking

why even bother with a veggie burger That is

basically meat Well, they've scientifically engineered

the smell, the grease bleeding, the taste, the

texture as much as they can, and the smell so

that it takes this particular protein that's

in beef, but they found a vegetable substitute

for the same thing so they can replicate the

smell into that. Through these computerized sensors.

They figured out how to do this. Anyways, it's

a long complicated process. You can find it on

Wired for the impossible burger, but The point

I'm trying to make is the reason why they're

doing this science. It's not for people that

are already not eating meat it's actually for

meat eaters and Meat eaters are typically like

there's no way I'm shoving Veggie burger down

my throat when I can have this great tasting

beef. Well Sounded wrong on so many levels. So

they've engineered it because of the fact that

cattle and the water to feed the cattle and the

water to come up with the grass and the corn

that feeds the cattle and all of these different

circumstances and the greenhouse effects of the

cattle. They're doing this because it leaves

about, in some cases, anywhere from like an eighth

to a quarter of the impact and the space to create

the same amount in veggie burger as it would

be to have cattle farms. And so essentially it

would be because of the fact that the rising

cost of meat and the fact that the world's population

is getting out of control. they're running out

of methods to have food. And so this is another

way of doing so. Plus, there's a lot of protein

in veggies and whatnot. So anyways, some restaurants,

this is not one that they sell in stores, but

at some restaurants around the US, there's even

two around where I live, which if I'm ever in

those areas, I'm gonna try it and I'm gonna do

a review on it. But there's another comparable...

veggie burger that's out, called the Beyond Burger.

No, it's not Batman Beyond Burger, it's just

a Beyond Burger. So what that burger is, it's

essentially the same thing. However, it doesn't,

instead of bleeding like beef, for instance,

it bleeds like beet juice. I will say that my

wife and I have tried this, it's expensive. They

have it at Kroger's and just about every Kroger

in the United States. And then a multitude of

other health food stores that have the health

foods for either vegetarians, vegans, or people

that are allergic to stuff. So your Whole Foods

would have it and stuff like that. The Beyond

Burger, my wife and I tried it one night just

because I saw it and had this curiosity about

it. And I wanted to know whether it tasted good.

Surprisingly, it does. It's thick like a burger,

it has a look like a burger, tastes like a burger,

although I've heard from people that try the

Beyond Burger versus the Impossible Burger. The

Impossible Burger tastes actually the most like

beef out of both. It tastes the best for a knockoff

beef burger. Which the impossible burger started

in California, and it's just kind of creeping

its way along restaurants here the Beyond Burger

actually is going to As I'm recording this I

got an email saying that TGI Fridays is going

to start Carrying the Beyond Burger in their

restaurants Which with the possibility it's gonna

be at six locations in the Boston area with possibility

of expanding to all TGI Fridays by early 2018

Which would be cool because it could be another

place to eat a beef alternative and have a healthier

meat that's not necessarily pumped full of a

million hormones like cattle is. That, and I

just... As I've gotten off more of the meat,

I have a hard time consuming meat. It doesn't

bode well with my digestive tract, which is...

More information than you need, but it's it once

you've converted your body over to one kind of

food It kind of doesn't like when you veer off

So if I eat deep -fried food, I am instantly

sick It's like the old Taco Bell adage that from

back in the day. So Yeah, the the TGI Fridays

that's that's gonna start having it. Like I said

that the the burgers actually not that bad and

they sell it online too for chef to basically

like their own stuff that they pre make these

certain kinds of foods but yeah I just I thought

I would I would bring that up because it's it's

something my wife and I've been doing and it

kind of it's a nice alternative if you're going

out to eat however I will say the impossible

burger the funny thing is is the restaurants

that sell them If you're a vegan or a vegetarian,

you do have to let people know that you do not

want, for instance, if you get onions on your

burger, they fry them in bacon. So if you're

not somebody that wants that, that you're going

in there for the veggie burger, I don't understand

the mentality in that. You're going in for a

veggie burger and they give you a pig -flavored

onion. When you're trying not to eat meat and

you're getting meat because they're soaking your

onion in bacon grease and then Lather on something

else. I can't remember that was beef based. So

I mean, it's just kind of it's It's just funny

to me that that you have to be careful yet They're

trying to put out these healthy foods and not

it's more of a they're doing it for a status

thing more so than a health thing so that's why

they don't really care, but I I found it interesting

that they're doing that as well. There are a

few other things that I probably want to cover

and I want to talk about, but I'm not sure if

I really want to right now. I do have some topics,

but I think they'd be better served having a

second chair in the episode. I will say that

animation's not had a good turn lately. There

was a cartoon on Netflix, and this is another

reason why I don't allow my kids to watch modern

television. Granted, I know that old stuff had

it too, but I feel so much better when I don't

have to worry about a penis showing up in my

kids' program. There's this show, what is it

called, Maya and the Bee? Yeah on Netflix had

had an episode pulled because in the cave The

little b -girl is coming out and there's like

literally a giant penis drawn on the cave wall.

It's unmistakable It was on Twitter. It was on

like it's made every news website and I just

find it interesting that they had to even let

people know to be mindful of what your kids are

watching because This could show up That I don't

know so There's there's so much questionable

crap in kids cartoons now there's I could go

into the whole They have the the gender debate

on on the DreamWorks home animated series on

Netflix two of the You know boof have seven great

genders blah blah blah blah blah like no, I'm

sorry I I don't subscribe to that. I'm sorry

if that offends some people, but I don't subscribe

to the multiple gender thing. Okay, if you're

gay, if you're lesbian, that's one thing. I don't

have anything against you. That's your preference,

but I'm sorry. The rest of it's some kind of

a disorder of some kind. You're shoving that

kid down like your stuff down my kids throat.

I just I don't like it. It's not not right so

That's that's another reason why I just I don't

want my kids watch modern television. I think

it's garbage so it's I even have a hard time

with certain other shows like I can get past

the fact of the Lesbian gay thing the rest of

it. I don't have a clue why they keep adding

letters to the end of it or with the 90 some

genders of how you can associate with being a

space object or Being a cardboard box or something

else. I I'm gonna get off this soapbox before

it burns me, but I I just I don't like that crap

that my kid shows so How about you just teach

them how you know the ABCs the alphabet, you

know life lessons stuff that actually matters

in the real world not all this garbage Kind of

why I liked even though Animaniacs was not kosher

for kids going back and watching it But the songs

were probably the cleanest part and the most

intelligent thing in the entire show Like the

the nations of the world, which is outdated unless

you listen to the new Rob Paulson stuff or you

listen to The you know states and capitals or

You know just stuff like that I find those have

more meaning than what modern television does.

That's why I don't allow my kids to watch cable

Netflix or Hulu. It has to go through my filter

first. That being said, there's also another

show that's on Netflix called Big Mouth. which

is extremely dark and Basically sick with the

jokes You Just trust me if you get a kid keep

them away from it So it's it's not kosher at

all. It makes South Park look clean That's all

I'm gonna say about that So without further ado

I'm probably gonna call this episode to a close
