Altered Geek, I'm your host, Steven C. Phillips,

and as always, thank you for tuning in. So, what's

new with you guys this week for me? Not a whole

lot. Mostly been prepping rooms for repainting,

whether it be the hallway, the boys' room for

Christmas. We're kind of giving it a jungle aesthetic

with paint and various decals and lettering.

on the walls and whatnot. And I've been in the

process of putting up new doors and kind of just

learning that whole craft which is difficult

for a nerd. So I've got three doors down, well

four doors down technically, three to go, two

more in the hallway region and one more downstairs.

Which we're gonna have to paint the doors as

well and the hallway so that's coming up Been

catching up on my shows and Feeling a little

overwhelmed with the end of the year coming and

content production plus the way that Social media

has been lately especially when it comes to TV

Politics companies movies It's just been a whirlwind

of stuff going on and sometimes I just kind of

feel A little overwhelmed when it comes to putting

out content as well because I feel like I Shouldn't

take a time off if that makes any sense, especially

when it comes to like this show or Now I've recently

gotten back into all things transformers future

imperfect. I didn't do an episode this week because

I'm going to be doing an episode next week where

I have some This Week in Geek help crossing over

into Future Imperfect to discuss Star Trek Discovery,

some of the news, and have a more interactive

discussion now that the episodes are on break

until January. Legends of the Brave and the Bold

I just haven't gotten back to. And truthfully,

I'll probably do it again once we see next week's

episodes with the crossover event of Earth X.

Crisis on Earth X. Once that episode's air for

those CW shows, we'll probably be doing a...

mid -season recap as well as a recap of the crisis

event which should be pretty interesting being

that it's gonna be all four shows actually crossing

over being that they're all coming over to this

earth for Barry and Iris's wedding and that show

so And other news also prepping for TFG1 Mike's

wedding, which is a little under two weeks now

Where I'll be flying out to Chicago for for that

and Have to be sure to congratulate Mr. TFG1

Blanchard About his his wedding coming up and

then of course we have My wife's birthday is

in mid -December as well, and then Christmas

in the new year. I mean, we're almost in 2018.

It's a little crazy. A little crazy. So if you're

looking to interact with the show, you can find

everything at AlteredGeek .com, whether it's

social media, contact, videos, other podcasts

I'm directly involved with, and this very podcast.

Uh, you can subscribe to this podcast there.

You can share the podcast or tell a friend about

it. You can rate and review us on iTunes, which

would be awesome because we haven't had any of

those in a while. Um, and of course, if you want

to get involved on the social medias, you can

use the hashtag what's geeky to you. Uh, which

like I said, this week it's pretty much been,

uh, some new things I put on. GeekCastRadio .com,

I redid the show schedule, the weekly show schedule

where we have some insinuations of new shows

coming for 2018, some ending in 2018, and we

have the new release schedule as well as roughly

when they come out. And then if you hover over

the nifty little banner over the texts where

it actually goes to the category of the podcast.

you can see a description of the show and the

show art, which I thought was kind of an inventive

way of changing things up. So that's what I've

been geeking out to this week. There has been,

particularly from Toon Master Tim, who tells

me what he's geeking out with, which is the Gizmodo

article from I09. the all 19 Pixar movies ranked

So their article actually kind of Picks up with

they list their number 19 is the good dinosaur

number 18 is bugs life cars to brave cars three

which I'll get into what my like top five would

be after the fact. Then we have Cars and we have

Monsters University, Finding Dory, Cocoa, Inside

Out, Toy Story 2 up, Rated 2 -E, Monsters Inc,

Toy Story, Toy Story 3, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles,

and Wall -E. While I applaud the effort of trying

to rank these, it still kind of comes up with

It kind of comes up with like personal bias and

opinion on this whole series of The Pixar films

and I feel that some of although Wally had strong

writing before it had anybody speaking Despite

the fact that it was just kind of off -putting

that there was literally no talking and it was

like this desolate wasteland I feel like Wall

-E doesn't really qualify for that number one

slot based on that alone because it got into

just a typical kind of a slotted movie at that

point of a Pixar film, not necessarily as strong

of writing as it once had before it started the

speaking aspect. It was good, don't get me wrong,

and I would put it in my top 10 for sure, but

I think that Toy Story 3, I think Toy Story deserved

to be kind of number one because of what it did,

what it innovated, what it created in this entire

genre of animated films for kids in the 90s and

throughout, and kind of put Pixar on the map.

as it were. And so I think that Toy Story 1 should

belong there, followed by Toy Story 3, which

was a very strong book ending to that whole series.

Very good writing, very good wrap up. And then

we get into Cars 3, which I would argue did a

better job of playing Cars than Cars 1 and 2

did. So I really enjoyed that film. And then

I would put The Incredibles thereafter. So again,

that would be within my top five. And then from

there on out, I would probably put Monsters University.

I enjoyed it much more than Monsters Inc. based

on what it was. And then I have Ratatouille,

WALL -E, and then Finding Dory, pretty much.

And that's kind of how my listing would go as

far as my top. eight nine or ten or whatever

i just listed there um i i don't i i didn't find

the good dinosaur to be very good i enjoyed bug's

life more than i enjoyed a couple of the other

ones brave i didn't care cars too didn't really

care um finding dory didn't care coco didn't

care inside out i was kind of like yeah okay

i kind of get what they're doing but i again

didn't bother me all that much um up nothing

A lot of these films, I didn't really feel for

as much as they may have been going for. Granted,

I'm not a kid, but a lot of this stuff is written

that way, or at least insinuated. However, we

do have, since I'm talking Pixar, the Incredibles

2 teaser dropped, and you get Baby Jack Jack,

or Jacks Jacks, or whatever they call them. displays

his powers more than what he did in the end of

Incredibles 1 and he has laser beam shooting

out of his eyes and manages to when he sneezes

he shoots flames, electricity, and then lasers

out of his eyes and so They have him kind of

drawing the the two on the in the Incredibles

bit and then Mr. Incredible Bob grabs his son

and goes yeah, baby and then that's when the

kid sneezes and blows part of his hair off top

of his head and he kind of gives us like The

kind of face which is which was funny I do hope

that they actually show what this second film

is gonna be about and kind of what the plot's

going to be. It doesn't look like it's taking

too much time off from the first one as far as

how the baby looks at this point, but I'm definitely

invested. I enjoyed the first Incredibles film,

so I'll be watching the second one as well. So,

kind of jumping into a little bit something that

I haven't done in a while, I'm gonna call this

the blast from the past. And since we're talking

Pixar at the moment, November 22, 1995, Walt

Disney Pictures releases the Pixar Animation

Studio Production Toy Story, the very first major

motion picture that is created completely by

CG Animation. Basically a breakthrough film which

set the standard for all future CG animated films

to follow and catapulted Pixar into a household

name. couldn't agree more that's that's insane

that it's been 22 years essentially since that

event happened makes me feel a little bit older

now because i'm i'm from that era of um watching

physical cartoons not everything cg like it is

now um i still miss the old Hand -drawn aesthetic

which when it comes up every now and again, especially

in DC stuff. I love it And then in November 21st

1969 ARPANET is established between UCLA and

the Stanford Research Institute Basically the

birth of the internet the foundation of the modern

internet which It's crazy Yeah, I can't even

it's it's the the first digital global network

based on packet switching and in demand access

that's That was such a huge thing It's funny

that it was created back in the 60s and it took

us until the 90s to revolutionize it like heavily

revolutionize it To what it is today and then

in in November 20th 1985 we We get Microsoft

Windows. Windows 1 .0, that is. And people accuse

Windows of being vaporware due to the relatively

high demands of then -current PC technology.

It was considered too slow to be usable. It wasn't

until Windows 3 that the operating system began

to generate significant sales. Which I can see.

I mean, it was... fairly clunky for what it was

back then, because it was a graphical user interface,

which previously was MS -DOS. And so it's crazy

when you think about it. I remember using Windows

2 .0, 3 .0, 3 .1, 3 .11, 95, OSR2, 98, 98 Second

Edition, Millennium, 2000. XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8

.1, and Windows 10. So yeah, I've used a lot

of versions of Windows. My brother used to be

able to write a graphical user interface in MS

-DOS. I have it somewhere. We used to have it,

we used to re -engineer it and re -edit the ones

in our elementary school. Which was kind of fun

because nobody else knew how to do this and my

brother and I had between the two of us figured

out how to Go into this this the batch files

which that was before executable files for the

GUI system but MS -DOS had batch files and you

could go in and edit them and Recode them and

so we used to as new programs would be installed

on the hard disk back in those days we used to

redo the menu system. It was one of those old

menus where you could press one and hit enter

for your selection or you could just, you know,

you could automate it so you could actually just

hit the number and it would load the program.

So we made it so that you could actually hit

the programs and would associate it and would

update the GUI interface with the title of the

program and it was a lot of fun to do. And then

my brother of course wrote his own reformatting

software using the Microsoft format but creating

his own GUI interface for it. He called it Ronnie

Cravo's Disk Destroyer. It was supposed to be

like a stupid play on Johnny Bravo. And he called

it the Disk Destroyer. It was pretty funny. We

actually did use it on occasion. on certain PCs

we owned. So, yeah, little history lesson there.

Since we did a little bit of overview of Geek

History, I think we'll go into a little bit of

this week in Geek History, and that's some of

the show, actually. I was going through on Facebook,

and you know how they give you those little notifications

on... content that you have that's, you know,

it's hit a milestone or it's hit a anniversary

of whenever that content was posted or post was

posted. I had like 12 for November 22nd in there.

Many of them were my son walking for the first

time. And then there was, funny enough, we're

finishing up the top 100 villains countdown.

and a few years ago we were doing the top 100

television show countdown. And it said part three

was just posted at that point, which we're waiting

on part four to be posted at this point. So it's

actually pretty spot on with our releasing schedule

of that particular time. But going back to November

22nd, 2010, I posted this thing of thinking of

starting a new show in place of Headshot, which...

Many people may not remember what Headshot was,

but Headshot was basically my take on the family

guy. What grinds my gears? And I used Headshot

because my favorite game at the time was Unreal

Tournament, and I was really good at the Headshot.

I used to hear it a lot in the game, so that

was my Headshot, which is... why I use the vocals

from Unreal Tournament and the instruments of

destruction from Transformers the movie and the

gunshot thing from Double D's clips on This Week

in Geek to craft that intro but this is I don't

know what though with the moment also if anyone

wants to get a hold of me in chat blah blah blah

blah anyone with any ideas possible show let

me know and then Kevin Michael Wilson kind of

spitballed some ideas in there and Yeah, nothing

came of it for another year or two When I ended

up creating altered geek as a video show and

before I reformatted it as a podcast Which it

was called geek cast radio unplugged when I first

tried to Debut this show Before it got the official

title of altered geek but Also this particular

date of November 22nd in 2013. I was on episode

16 Let that sink in episode 16 of the podcast

at the time the funny part is the the text from

the altered geek and where it says Unlimited

or unplugged the unplugged unlimited is actually

the current font I use for the word altered geek

on the the podcast text, which I find funny that

all I did was recolor it and give it new effects

and then reused it. And that's kind of where

we are. But the topic at the time was surviving

tech, TV and film. And we were talking about

like Arrow, Batman, PS4, Shield, Flash and kind

of a multitude of other topics as well. And the

new generation gaming consoles and you know the

the upgrading hard drives and the Iron Man suits

and It was kind of interesting to kind of you

know, this is during the time of Arrow season

2 and and the flash TV series getting ready to

start up and Funny thing is Beetlejuice 2 Was

one of the show notes this is Beetlejuice 2 might

bring back Winona Ryder sequel set 27 years after

the original And that was kind of funny because

we're still talking about a Beetlejuice 2 and

it's four years later. Which just goes to tell

you that it's probably never gonna happen. And

then of course they're talking about the Batman

v Superman bat flak. You know, semi -retired

controlling drones from the Batcave. I don't

know, I just found it kind of funny that that

those are there and just going back in time seeing

some of that and then you know of course some

of our old listeners who used to comment on this

very show my goodness looking at the episode

comments for this particular episode I had 46

comments on this episode when it first launched

and It's it's crazy when you kind of look at

the difference between then and now But yeah,

so I'm gonna take a quick break and come back

on the other side with Kind of a quick review

on Justice League and some of the controversy

that's kind of surrounding it followed by the

fan casting of a Possible DCEU film that I would

like to see happen, so we'll be back after this

And we're back so... Justice League. So I saw

this movie and I was kind of unsure what to think

about it being that all the reviewers are kind

of poo -pooing the film left and right. There

was the whole thing with Rotten Tomatoes not

publishing the Rotten Tomatoes score. Not because

of WB because they'd released the embargo like

a week prior or even earlier that day or the

day before. So there was no embargo. They just

were holding it off for their See It or Skip

It podcast, which I find kind of distasteful

that they purposely withheld that from the website,

considering that's kind of what draws traffic

to the films nowadays is the tomato meter. And

I feel like it kind of inadvertently sabotaged

the film before it came out because they withheld

this. And I have a feeling they're going to do

this again with Star Wars. The fact that they

had to kind of introduce their show with the

backlash about it kind of makes you wonder why

that whole thing took place in the first place

of what their reasoning was for it other than

to draw traffic to the podcast. I think it was

kind of just kind of in poor taste of how it

happened. That being aside, I did enjoy the film.

I did kind of notice what people are complaining

about with the clash of two different directors

of Zack Snyder and Joss Whedon. I did like the

lighter color palette that Whedon brought along

with him. I've never been a fan of Zack Snyder's

color palette. However, I do have to say that...

Well, I'll get into the controversies of it later,

but I really enjoyed... Batman's character enjoyed

Wonder Woman's character the CG mustache Superman

was Just it was jarring whenever I saw it and

you can tell whatever scenes he had the mustache

in whichever ones he did not Just based on his

smile or his face alone Just because Paramount

or whoever it was that had him in a film prior

with with the mustache was being petty about

it And kind of caused that whole issue Not letting

him shave off a mustache when they could have

just you know, I I don't know put on in a fake

one Like they do for like half the other stuff

when there's like prosthetic It wouldn't have

been that hard It would have been easier than

having to CG his mouth Which looked super awkward

like proportionately it looked real weird when

he smiled or something happened at his face And

it kind of took me out of it for a minute seeing

those aspects, but thankfully it was few and

far between The way that they brought I mean

I can leave let this cat out of the bag Everybody

knows Superman's back in the film by now because

it's been out a week The way that they brought

him back Was kind of jarring as well. I mean

I get it I do but then The way that this team

was put together almost seemed way too convenient

Because none of them have had an origin film

prior to this or none of them have had their

first film prior to this and I'm kind of glad

that they skipped the origins per se of some

of them particularly flash and cyborg and and

Got those out of the way throughout Batman v

Superman and this movie but I I definitely like

how they book -ended the film. Like the last

20 minutes of the film, I feel like, was the

strongest part of the film. However, I don't

feel that this film should have got as much hate

as it got. And it got more than... and we kind

of predicted this. I mean, Mike Powers was on

when we talked about it, that this film is going

to get hate regardless because of some stupid...

factor and the fact that Zack Snyder wasn't on

board, people were going to blame the failure

on Joss Whedon. And in actuality, Joss Whedon,

yes, finished the film and reshot parts of it

and changed aspects of it. It basically followed

the same exact formula as Avengers. Which there's

actually a video of it I think done by Screen

Rant where they have somebody do a side -by -side

and it basically explained the whole plot of

the movie without in as generic terms as possible

kind of comparing the two films and It's basically

cookie cutter the same film It's just done a

little bit differently and I guess that's because

the way that's the way that WB wanted it and

Zack Snyder's original original design for this

film apparently was not like this at all. I guess

there was comedic parts in the beginning, there

was other stuff that weren't there, there was

a lot of stuff missing. WB also wanted to cut

this movie down to like exactly two hours and

I think Zack Snyder had like a little bit longer

I don't know, I'm not sure how much longer, but

he had more that he had planned to do. And this

film has brought in the worst box office opening

of any of the DCEU at 96 million when it was

projected to make at least 100. And I feel like

the reason why this film bombed as bad as it

did, not only because of the whole withholding

by the Rotten Tomato, Aspect but you also have

the The fact that WB kind of screwed it and Not

only in the fact that they were trying to Fast

-track this and not plan it through as well as

Marvel had done. I mean Marvel had bombed some

films, too Throughout their their cinematic universe,

however, they learned from it Warner Brothers

seems to be too much stuck in their own way to

actually have to give creative control to these

people. Yes, within reason, but you gotta give

them control or it's not really worth taking

the helm of. And I think that these films have

suffered because of each sequential film has,

I mean, you had Man of Steel and it got this

huge amount. And then you got Batman v Superman,

which... Got a certain amount and it went down

lower and because that film was was panned as

a whole and then you get to Suicide Squad which

was half and half and Then you get to Wonder

Woman, which was actually pretty good And then

you get to this film and people are going, you

know great. We're gonna another, you know subpar

DC film and We're kind of expecting it to totally

suck in it and that's why it got as bad as it

did and Because WB doesn't want to get out of

its own way and let the DC division actually

take care of it because, you know, they actually

write the comics. It's kind of hurt itself and

I felt like the movie wasn't... Yeah, Steppenwolf

is a horrible villain and he sucks. But I see

why they had to bring him in initially to get

the team together and it was nice seeing the

Atlantean aspect the Themyscarans the Green Lantern

flashback and seeing the The aspects of Gotham

and Metropolis and All these other aspects that

are kind of thrown in there with with the show

and The the whole film wasn't really that bad

and then the ending and then the two after credit

scenes were really good and you get You know

finally the the true Superman that we've been

kind of hoping for that the almost DC animated

universe version of the league by the end of

the film and you get Bruce who's you know kind

of in this this element of semi ready to retire

and it's it's it's not a bad film by any stretch

of the imagination I just wish that it hadn't

got as bad of press prior to it coming out so

that it could have at least done better in the

box office I don't know what do you guys think

about this whole controversy and the whole thing

with Justice League. I personally think that

it sets up the rest of the universe really well.

I think that now that this is out of the way,

they can kind of world -build the rest of the

universe. However, if Affleck's already talking

about wanting to leave, or at least gracefully

leave, I think that they need to get him at least

for the Batman or the Batman trilogy that Matt

Reeves wants to do, get him for another Justice

League and then if they want to wrap up the universe

after that and go that route and then have them

do like Old Man Bruce Wayne or something and

then do a Batman Beyond or or have Dick Grayson

take over since they're planning on a Nightwing

film anyhow or at least have you know Dick Grayson

put on the cowl and have Bruce Wayne stay in

the cave and do the less intensive stuff I feel

like that's almost the route they should go however

kind of getting into my fan casting since it

kind of has to do with the DCEU anyhow, I fan

casted my own Batman Beyond film because there

were rumors that we were going to have a basically

a Jake Gyllenhaal possible replacement for Ben

Affleck even though Ben Affleck is still kind

of quasi contemplating the solo Batman film.

despite it all you know Matt Reeves wants Jake

Gyllenhaal if Ben Affleck is not going to do

it and obviously they'll let Ben Affleck do it

since he's kind of the de facto Batman at this

point and what's funny is I think that he's kind

of the full package of Batman Bruce Wayne in

that he kind of embodies both characters really

well and kind of fits in with the DC animated

universe version of Bruce Wayne Batman He not

only looks very similar to the early DCAU like

Batman the animated series before they revised

it all He fits that look and that tone of Batman

in a sense So I'm actually quite pleased To see

where they're where they're going with it But

I fan casted my own Batman Beyond film and kind

of just go with me on this ride because it's

It's a little different And I'll kind of get

into my reasonings here in a second So going

with me on this ride I have director Joseph Kosinski

the director of Tron Legacy Because I feel like

he could pull off that futuristic landscape and

world while having kind of that action mystery

type thing that Tron Legacy had I feel like he

could pull off that that look really well since

Tron Legacy was very futuristic despite the fact

it was in a digital world and although typically

not a film writer It would be best to use this

particular person because of his knowledge with

the series of Batman, the DCAU, Batman Beyond

and Arkham games and that would be Paul Dini

because he's kind of given us the most solid

Batman material we've had to date. I feel like

he would be a solid choice to give it the feature

film treatment and having executive producer

as Tim Burton. from Batman and Batman Returns

because he would help add more of the dark Gotham

look and feel to that futuristic landscape and

help with the universe and the world building

and the sci -fi future feel but yet kind of that

gothic feel of the films. Plus, like I said,

he helmed the original beginning of the DC films

and the Batman films and kind of would help give

it a new rebirth for the DCEU since It's kind

of not really all that different than Zack Snyder's

vision in a sense. And then of course I would

cast Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne again because

he still claims to be Batman after his stint

as the Dark Knight and he's aged enough and gruff

enough for the old man Bruce Wayne as the mentor

to Terry McGinnis. I would have Jodie Foster

who's played FBI characters, cops and whatnot.

Play Commissioner Barbara Gordon because, like

I said, she's played a cop in the past and would

fit the age profile and be a strong contender

for the role and still be able to do some of

the actiony stuff. You can have either Mark Hamill

or William Defoe as the future Joker. I have

them both listed just in case. because you can

have them as the aged version. We've seen Mark

Hamill kind of do that. One, he's done the voice

and he still does the voice, but he could pull

off the film for one because his version of the

trickster on Earth 3 of the Flash was basically

the same thing as the Joker. All you'd have to

do is change a little bit of the make -up -ing

and the costume and you would have a pretty solid...

Mark Hamill Joker. But then again you could do

William Defoe who's got more of the narrowed

face and kind of has that creep factor and I've

seen Photoshop photos of him as the Joker as

well and he could kind of play crazy. So he could

again kind of fit that. You could have Logan

Lerman as Terry McGinnis who's kind of a talented

actor, takes on challenging dynamic roles, characters

and He's kind of done the fantasy, sci -fi kind

of roles before, plus he's kind of got that look

and their sarcastic moments and the... I just

feel like the dude could play it pretty solid,

Terry McGinnis. And then if you wanted to go

a different route with villains, you could have

Emma Stone as Ink, because she's obviously...

I've been in superhero films before with The

Amazing Spider -Man and I guess you could hear

her taking on kind of a villainous role in Ink

using her sarcasm, dark inflections, and she's

a really good actress so I could really see that.

And then Hailey Steinfeld as Dana Tan. She's

aged about right for that character and could

portray this relatively well based on her other

works and school -aged roles. You could have

Amanda Steinberg as Max. She was previously in

the Hunger Games and would kind of be fitting

with the age of the younger cast, fits the energy

and the look of Max. And you could have Mark

Strong as Derek Powers. I've seen this one floating

around a little bit too, which I was like, yeah,

that's kind of pretty solid actually. And he's

played villain types before and kind of why mess

with a good thing. So I think that he could kind

of give that powerful CEO vibe to combat. Keaton's

Bruce Wayne and kind of be that stickler and

kind of a you know a younger CEO to kind of combat

and Keaton's kind of age grizzled look But uh,

I don't know. What do you guys think about my

my fan casting because I posted that online and

DJ Valentine of simplistic reviews puts you seriously

have to talk to my co -host You both are the

biggest Batman beyond fans on the planet And

then he kind of yeah, we were kind of going back

and forth and then Eduardo says nice casting

choices and There were a couple people like JT

says yes, sir, I like it I like it a lot using

a meme from Rennan Stimpy, so I don't know. What

do you guys think? I'm kind of all in favor for

For doing this if if they were to go that route,

but I'm gonna take a quick break and come back

after this Hey guys Steve here, and I'm here

about Star Wars episode 8 since we're kind of

getting on the cusp of it coming out little under

a month What are you guys's opinions of it? I'm

really looking forward to this film And they're

still coming out with a bunch of Teaser shots

which tell you stuff, but don't really tell you

stuff It mostly just expounds upon the previous

like the initial trailer you get finding out

that Kylo failed Luke and Rey kind of saying

that I won't fail you like Kylo did and then

you get to see Benicio del Toro in the one of

the other trailers that kind of popped out where

it says resist it and Yeah, there's just a lot

of theories and a lot of stuff going around,

but yeah, it comes out in like 21 days. It's

kind of crazy. And it's already projected for

a sky -high $200 million opening weekend, which

is insane. It's crazy how high they're expecting

this thing to kind of... Just bank on this basically

So yeah the The the estimated 200 million dollar

plus opening weekend number would make the last

Jedi is part of an elite 200 million dollar club

kind of reminds me of the five five timers club

of SNL that boasts three other members. Star

Wars The Force Awakens at 248 million, Jurassic

World 208 million, and The Avengers at 207 million.

I think it could do it, because it looks like

a very strong contender, a very original film,

a new take on all of the characters that we've

previously been introduced to. standalone Star

Wars film, Rogue One, which was kind of loosely

connected to the core storyline, opened at a

whopping $155 million. So I mean, it's kind of

going to be a big deal here. Plus the fact that

Rian Johnson is going to be entrusted with directing

a brand new Star Wars trilogy. planned for after

the current trilogy ends with Abrams returning

for episode 9, which I'm not sure either way

on that, but you know, whatever. The guy can

do it. I mean, you can't, what's he gonna do,

give us Return of the Jedi a second time? Don't

answer that. So yeah, I'm very stoked for this

film and they kind of... Give a little bit of

detail on Benicio del Toro's character as the

shady character DJ who's kind of a he's known

as a slicer Whatever that means And he's an ignorant

enigmatic figure who's tattered Clothes and lackadaisical

attitude conceal a shirt mind and expert skills

John Boyega basically drops that We just need

a code breaker and he's the best in the galaxy.

Unfortunately, he's very dodgy and only in it

for financial gain. Kind of sounds like Han Solo

here. Like this generation's Han Solo in a sense.

Even though they've kind of wanted you to put

Finn in that kind of shoes. And you get... Poe

is basically like our wedge Antilles for this

generation. But it says he doesn't fight for

any side. He has distinct opinions. The Resistance

bombs the First Order one day. The First Order

bombs the Resistance on another. It's an ongoing

war that will never end for him. He's just trying

to benefit off that, which doesn't make him the

person you want to trust. And in the trailer

you see him on an Imperial base. So I'm wondering

one of two things. I'm wondering, one, if he's

Redede, which Probably not. Two. Ray is probably

Leia's. But I'm wondering if Benicio de Toro

is like a descendant of maybe Boba Fett. And

I'm just kind of playing around with that. I'm

just spitballing here. It's just fun to do. So,

this guy is basically like a higher class Han

Solo in a sense, or likes to feel that way. So,

yeah. I'm not sure what his character is going

to entail. I just love the fact that we absolutely

know nothing about this show and it's due to

come out in 21 days and we'll actually get to

find out what's going on. So that's kind of cool.

And then people were kind of wondering, whoa,

is Lando Calrissian, Billy Dee Williams going

to make an appearance in the sequel trilogy at

some point? And Johnson says, no, and I don't

want fans to get their hopes up. He's not in

the film and it was never really something that

came up. I mean, I love that character. It would

have been fun to see him, but it's not something

that ever really had a place in the story. If

you're looking for a Lando bit, you're just going

to have to look for the Han Solo film because

he's not in this updated trilogy. So you can

kind of speculate where he's at at this point.

But yeah, we'll kind of see what happens in this

film as it kind of grows closer to that time

where we actually get to see it. I'm looking

forward to seeing this in the theater. This will

be... I'm going to probably go see it with my

brother. I saw the last Star Wars film in theater

with my brother and it was kind of cool doing

it that way. I'm super geeked to see old man

Luke get in the fight and kind of get that worried

look and get back in the film here. So what do

you guys think on that and then I'm kind of looking

at also he's saying that Johnson says that he's

at the very beginning of planning the new Star

Wars trilogy Obviously because he's finishing

the last Jedi So it says that yeah Lucasfilm's

clearly confident in him and Want him to design

his own universe original and separate from the

Skywalker saga, which would be the kind of a

first uh for this and so um yeah he's gonna be

he's gonna be on the high trail for a while uh

trying to answer questions without answering

questions about the new trilogy because people

are gonna be like uh we we don't care about the

uh the last jedi anymore tell us more about uh

what you got coming on um but yeah there's it's

kind of a blank canvas for the most part i mean

he's got a lot of room to play uh and if Rebels

is any kind of a consolation, not that he's been

involved with that, but that we may get to see

some interesting stories play out. So I'm going

to take another quick break and come back on

the other side with the Thanksgiving traditions

and revived TV shows that you may not be too

knowledgeable about. You are tuned in to Steve

Megatron on Altered Geek. And we're back. So,

getting into the final part of the episode here,

we have Thanksgiving traditions. And what better

way to usher in the holidays than how you kind

of handle your holiday weekend? For me, a number

of years ago, I used to work in the pizza business,

Little Caesars, and funny enough, the Wednesday

night of before Thanksgiving was always the busiest

night of the year. And you're like, why would

it be the busiest night of the year? It was also

the biggest drinking night of the year. And I

was sitting here going, doesn't make any sense.

And then people were kind of telling that, Well

people have to deal with their family the next

day and some people don't exactly look forward

to that time I myself it doesn't bother me either

way. I don't go like hog well and crazy and drinking

and in order pizza or whatnot But I remember

when I used to work pizza I hated the night before

Thanksgiving Because we would never get out on

time. We would close at 11 o 'clock. We would

leave by 2 because The golden rule was, as long

as people kept coming through the door, you stayed

open on that particular night, and it was horrid.

I was always one of those prepared employees

that always had the... And I got blindsided the

first year it happened. The following years that

I worked it, I didn't get blindsided. Then eventually

I just pulled rank and I said, I'm not working

it. You're all part -time anyway, you can kind

of say that when you would do that in a pizza

joint. The funny thing was is I had the store

ready to close pretty much by 11 o 'clock and

people didn't start rushing in, like kind of

bum -rushing the doors until about 10 p .m. Yeah,

we totally destroyed the store again. And I still

managed to clean it around getting new stuff

set up to make more food. And yeah, we got out

about two in the morning. It was horrible. And

that's only because we just eventually said we're

just tired and we locked the door because people

were still coming. Which thankfully I don't work

that anymore. I give have tremendous respect

for the people that work pizza and have to deal

with this Because it's just it's not ideal at

all But yeah, then I used to go to three houses

or two houses on because my parents got divorced

when I was a kid, so we used to go to my mom's

to eat, we'd go to my in -laws, and then we'd

go to my dad's, or some variation there by. We'd

go to maybe my in -laws first, then my mom's,

and then my dad's, and only actually eat at my

mom's. Granted, I was a pig, I would eat at both

or all three places, just because that's what

I've always done. I like to eat on holidays because

it's somebody else's food and it's delicious

so I I'm so looking forward to it. I'm recording

this the the night before Thanksgiving here and

This will be out on on Friday funny enough, but

I You know so you'll be able to listen to this

on Black Friday Because I'll have this published

way before that it'll probably published on Thanksgiving

But Yeah, I'm anticipating eating food tomorrow

as well and So like after Thanksgiving's over

we we don't do the Black Friday thing anymore

We used to I mean if I do it's I take advantage

of the online sales. I have stuff shipped to

me I don't physically go out anymore It's because

I have kids, I don't want to worry about getting

trampled on and leaving my kids without a parent.

No thing is worth me dying over, so I just assume

not have it happen or have people bash me to

get to some item that you honestly don't need.

I just don't go out anymore on it. That being

said... We usually, the weekend after Thanksgiving,

put up all of our Christmas stuff. We get out

the tree, we put that up, we put up the ornaments,

we put up all the decorations, we get the house

pretty much ready to go. Which also means that

it's a month that my cats have to be locked up

when I'm not in the vicinity because the male

cat likes to eat the branches and climb in the

tree. So when we're not home or... When it's

nighttime we lock him up in the office and he's

physically not allowed to go near the tree because

He's a dick and he just doesn't care And the

dog likes to chase said cat and the other cat

just doesn't go upstairs So it just it kind of

works out nowadays more so because she doesn't

realize she's a cat and won't jump over the gate

that we have Which the dog can't jump over either

But the one cat knows that it can jump and that's

the one that likes to eat the tree but because

I have Friday off due to holiday I am going to

be sitting with my family and decorating the

house for that and prepping to paint a room in

my kids room and other parts of the house and

so yeah it's kind of that day that we we get

ready for the holidays and you know have hot

chocolate and have kind of a special time and

watch a movie and just kind of prep everything.

So it's getting more fun as the kids get to help

out and as they get older. So, getting into the

last bit of the show here, I'm going to get into

the revived TV shows. I know everybody's been

just dying to hear this. I know everybody's like,

I'm out shopping, I don't care. So, like I said,

getting into the revived shows, and I love this

RenewCancelTV .com. There's such a great resource.

Believe it or not, there's a number of shows

that are revived, actually. And it's kind of

funny to see what's been revived, exactly. I

don't even know what this one show is but it's

called multiple Mario scare tactics, which I

never watched either Jersey Shore, which I'm

Not surprised. It's returning. I never watched

this. I think it's garbage but Especially what

they how they handle it. I don't know. I just

think this is like the trashiest reality show

in the world Just based on what I've seen in

passing. Then there's Showtime at the Apollo,

which I'm assuming is a comedy show. Parental

Control. Another MTV show that, well, I think

Jersey Shore is VH1, which that's crap. Parental

Control. Another MTV show that needs to stop

being produced. Corner Gas, whatever that is.

Roseanne, which I knew that was coming back.

I'm kind of not surprised on that because everything

is kind of, I mean you've got a Will and Grace

revival, you've got Fuller House, you've got

just the list is growing by the day of shows

that are just returning. But yeah, there's a

possible season two order and they extended the

2018 episode order of Roseanne already. the revival

ignores major series finale event of Like Dan

being dead and some of the other aspects and

I guess that The the complete seasons of the

original show are heading to Amazon before ABC

revival along with more classics So, I mean It's

it's not surprising I mean I I'll check it out

because I kind of here or there watched the series

And I Mean I'm kind of fine with it. It's it's

not a bad series. I more so I like John Goodman,

so I'll pretty much watch anything with John

Goodman in it But five episodes have already

been shot and according to sources ABC execs

are very pleased with what they're seeing so

It I hope that Unlike other shows it's not like

a one -and -done. I'm wondering if like this

would be funny if home improvement had a revival

Because obviously they had kind of an alternate

series with last man standing I think it would

be funny if they had a home improvement return

Just because it would kind of give them the excuse

to have Tim Allen back at ABC Along with half

the other cast that kind of made reprisal roles

in Last Man and then we have a new Carmen Sandiego

show Exclusive to Netflix and it's obviously

kids mystery animated The reboot is based on

the original PBS series where in the world was

Carmen Sandiego from the 91 to 95 and it's going

to be out on Netflix in 2019. The reboot Carmen

San Diego is back on the map and ready for a

new crop of international capers packed with

thrilling adventures and intrigue that fresh

take will present an intimate look into Carmen's

past where viewers will not only follow her escapades

but also learn who in the world is Carmen San

Diego and why she became a super thief. Oh, I

can see many ways this can go wrong. Why? If

it's not broke, don't fix it. We don't need to

know just just do the series Honestly, I missed

the the game show version of where in the world

is Carmen San Diego. It was so much fun watching

that on PBS With I forget what her name is Lynn

Thigpen going going, all right, come choose,

blah, blah, blah, and then having the, I just

loved the game show aspect of it. And then I

played some of the games. The games were just

garbage back, but that was like early 90s, so

kind of not surprising. Well, I didn't have a

computer till the mid 90s, so it's, yeah, it

was done by Broderbund. Anything by Broderbund

sucked back then, so. Yeah, it's kind of cool

that that's coming back. It'll probably be akin

to the the magic school bus revival And then

of course Constantine was revived It was cancelled

after one season by NPC and then revived as an

animated series by CW seed to air 27 to 2018

And then it's it's I believe got the same actor

kind of reprising his role and kind of continuing

on It's kind of odd that it's going to be an

animated, but whatever. I mean, they revived

it, just not in the way that you would think.

I honestly think that he should join the Legends

of Tomorrow. That would kind of kick it up a

notch, since they're dealing with kind of supernaturalistic

stuff, and kind of give him that on -screen presence,

since he's already been on Arrow once. Showing

that their universes are kind of intertwined

at this point There's been a lot of shows that

have been canceled though for the 27 2018 time

Just some of which are like the Americans Adventure

time now mind you I don't watch any of these

so that's just me reading off a list here Fixer

Upper, which kind of knew that was coming. The

Gilmore Girls thing. House of Cards, for obvious

reasons. Kevin probably saves the world. Law

and Order Troop Crime. Longmire. Marvel's Inhumans,

kind of not surprised. Marvel's New Warriors,

canceled before premiere. Me, myself, and I.

The Middle. The Mini Project. Nashville. New

Girl. Once upon a time, that's kind of interesting

that it got cancelled. This is cancelled after

seven seasons. The originals, cancelled, which

is CW. Scandal, School of Rock. Yeah, Valor,

really? Veep? Yeah. And that's crazy I It's so

amazing to look at some of these sometimes and

see what makes it and what doesn't The Goldbergs

has been renewed not surprisingly modern family

has been renewed not surprisingly a Lot of shows

are to be determined Survivor I'm not surprised

it's going for season 36 There's the price is

right renewed through season 47 that's crazy

Judge do Judy renewed Big Bang Theory renewed

through season 12. I Think it'll get cancelled

after that point. I Don't know. This is it's

just it's crazy to see like none of the CW stuff's

been determined either way The Simpsons returns

through season 30. The Oroville renewed for season

two, which I find it funny with the Oroville

that they renewed this. And they kind of moved

a couple episodes from season one to season two

so that they can finish up the whole season one

before the break. So yeah, I'm honestly loving

the show. I think it's awesome. I think it's

like the most Star Trek -y show we're getting

aside from Star Trek itself, which you can hear

my thoughts on Discovery over there on Future

Imperfect. But hey, Arnold's being resurrected.

Will and Grace renewed. All the evening talk

shows have been renewed. That's kind of no surprise

So dr. Who renewed I Wonder if that Krypton show

is gonna actually end up going anywhere One thing

I'm not looking forward to and this is not even

TV related Oh DuckTales is very renewed. That's

kind of cool One thing I'm not looking forward

to is the Ace Ventura possible reboot. And that

just kind of irks me quite a bit, actually. Because

the studio that owns it, Morgan Creek Film Library,

sold off the majority or tried to. Sell off their

domestic rights to its library of 78 films that

includes Stuff like Major League and Ace Ventura,

Pet Detective series The Last of the Mohicans,

Robin Hood Prince of Thieves a lot of other type

films Young Guns Exorcist It's kind of crazy

that they're selling lot of their production

a lot of their company off Probably because they're

just hurting off for for money and need to To

get rid of some of the distribution They sold

off its international distribution rights to

Revolution Studios Wow, they're just they're

not doing all that great are they? So yeah, I

am personally not looking forward to an ace Ventura

pet detective Remake I think that That would

be wrong to do without Jim Carrey Because I think

that nobody else could pull it off it's kind

of like having Robin Williams do a movie and

not be in it like take one of Robin Williams

movies recast it with somebody else playing his

role and They just don't work the same way The

whole film would have to be totally reworked

and I just don't I I don't know if I would be

down with that, honestly. I like my Ace Ventura

pet detective. I like when nature calls. There

didn't need to be that Ace Ventura Jr., which

is garbage. So, I don't know. What do you guys
