Stephen C. Phillips discusses the practicalities of cutting the cord on cable and shares personal experiences regarding his child's severe food allergies. The episode also covers thoughts on the Apple iPhone X, the potential for battery-free cell phone technology, a recent Star Trek Online update, and a look ahead at upcoming fall television premieres.

On this episode of Altered Geek, I'll be talking

about parenting in the new modern age, cord cutting,

some iPhone interference, and my thoughts. I'll

listen more on Altered Geek. Hello and welcome

to Altered Geek, the show where pop culture,

living in the modern era, collide and no topic

is considered off -limits. If it's something

you're interested in, then I want to know, so

we can geek out together. I'm your host, Stephen

C. Phillips, and as always, thank you for tuning

in. I am looking forward to conversing more of

what matters to you guys on the geeky spectrum.

So, uh... Again, I will put out the call for

the hashtag What's Geeky to You, so leave your

comments in the Twitter sphere and you can leave

them as well on the episode post on the website

altergeek .com. So, yeah, it's been a little

bit of a crazy week. Most of the GCRN hosts are

out of commission this week. and not out of illness.

No, they are just not producing new shows this

week because most of them are on vacation. So,

ending out the week, you have me. I've been producing

content all week. TFD1 Mike's stuff came out,

I mean it was scheduled, but he's on vacation

and so is Optimus Solo and you would have heard

if you listened to GCR and Wars, where we talked

the 90s villains tournament. Movie Revolt Dan

joined me. And Dodd is on a commission and so

yeah, just a lot of people are just MIA this

week. So had to make do with me. Which can be

a good thing or can be bad, depending on your

perspective. This will be the fourth podcast

I've recorded this week, which kind of brings

me around full circle. I remember the days when

I used to work the car lot during the day. I

would work 7 .30 to 4 .30, come home, or some

days not even come home. I would go to work right

after there, and I would work from 6 until midnight,

or 6 until 11, and then I would come home, and

then I would record. until two in the morning,

which isn't that much different than how I do

things now, except for the fact that I game now

after midnight, and I record between 9 .30 and

midnight. So, it's a little bit interesting,

different dynamic, but this is the first time

I've done four shows in the same week. It's a

little bit mind -boggling, a little bit odd.

Honestly, I was... Going to push myself to do

another one or two shows But I opted not to just

so that I had enough time to properly put the

work and the effort into all of the shows I'm

doing this week So I started off the week with

doing an all things transformers podcast. I had

a nice little 30 -minute update Since that shows

nine years old now As of August first week of

August Blanchard could tell you the day. I can't

remember for the life of me Especially with restarting

the podcast three times after trying to kill

it three times the number is a little wonky,

but It was episode 61 of version 3 .0, but it

was ultimately episode 128 Overall I went to

figure out so Yeah, it's it was it was fun. I

talked some Titans return I talked some of hazcon

some of the new toys coming out some of the Beast

Wars stuff That's influencing modern transformers

And kind of left it there and then I recorded

future imperfect our Star Trek podcast and I

Could have gotten co -hosts for that. I probably

could have got one for ATTF and I just opted

not to but I discussed Some of these things with

Star Trek discovery the new theme song was dropped

on YouTube so I played that in the episode as

well and commented on it of my opinion and Then

kind of discussed the the Seth MacFarlane show

of the Orville Which I Kind of enjoyed I people

either loved it or they hated it and or they

were kind of like in the middle and In the people

that were in the middle were wanting to like

it because it was a pretty solid Star Trek knockoff

with supposedly trying to be comedic, but some

of the jokes, some of the family guy -ish jokes

that were in it were just not that entertaining.

But regardless, it was a lot of fun to watch,

and I honestly can't wait for the continuation

of it. It was very fun. But I guess his whole

goal with that show is to brighten up the sci

-fi TV universe, which I can't say I blame him,

because going and looking at some of the modern

sci -fi TV, it's so dark. So I almost welcome

this campy version of Star Trek again. With all

of that's going on in between politics, between

society, between all kinds of social economic

issues, it was nice to not really have that influence

in my programming for once. Because it seems

like everything has gotten so dark and been influenced

by the real world that it's almost not a getaway.

Like entertainment, yes, it's supposed to mimic

and and kind of Use the the political social

economic ecosphere ecosystem to Make commentary

on it and in kind of make it relatable but but

tackle it in a different way through the show

I also welcome the shows that Shy away from it

in a sense and I kind of see the show as that

at least so far Just from the first episode and

it could change But I I found myself really liking

the show because I enjoyed it I was able to kind

of just sit back not really think about it. There's

no cannon to build off of so it's completely

all original. There's no The only stigma that

I had was that it's South MacFarlane, but being

that he's a Trekkie and he likes this kind of

material I I was giving it a shot and I was kind

of glad I did because normally I don't Normally,

I don't give things a shot. Normally, I don't

want to. I don't want to try something. This

goes with anything, though. My wife has a heck

of a time getting me to try new food. I just

recently started eating beans with food because

we're, I would say, 90 % vegetarian in our household

now. And that's begun since that challenge we

did in... Was it 2016? Yeah, January of 2016

we did the 30 -day vegan challenge or vegetarian

whatever There were a number of reasons for it

one was we have friends that are and We didn't

understand What it was like so we opted to try

it and my wife could see his ideas And that's

I just kind of roll with it sometimes and then

we realized why Because it's kind of outlined

in the Bible and I'm not gonna preach or do any

of that kind of stuff, but It's kind of outlined

how to eat a healthier Life in a sense and if

it comes from the earth then it's good and and

so on Which I kind of agree to at some point.

I'm still She's given up meat completely the

kids have given up meat for a variety of reasons.

I know they pump on unguidely amounts of hormones

and animal meat, whatever, and dairy, and just

about everything you eat. That's partially why

they're doing it. Myself, I still enjoy a good

burger every now and again. Do we have at the

house? No. But if I'm out with somebody, I have

no qualms of eating meat. It's just not in my

household. Coming back around to this, my wife

had set up, a month and a half ago, this appointment

for my oldest, Ian, and he had these issues with

these crazy coughing fits. From the moment we

started feeding him cow milk, when he got to

that age to start drinking it, he started having

these slight allergic reactions, which we didn't

really know what it was, but we... We figured

like I had this this problem where I start like

I'm constantly like coughing up Flem after I

drink milk or I have cereal or something and

the boy was doing it for a while and then he

started getting progressively worse when Nolan

started coming around and My wife tried to get

the doctor to look into it and he just kept wanting

to give him antibiotics Which would be fine if

it actually worked and it was treating the problem

but it wasn't preventative care. And so long

story short, she cut out a bunch of food and

tried this trial by error thing, figured out

he's not able to drink dairy because he would

wake up in the middle of the night with coughing

fits, not really able to breathe very well. And

he was throwing up and it was just, it would

take us a week and a half to detox him. It was

horrible. And then so we stopped doing that and

he started drinking soy milk and we started eating

more soy and all that kind of stuff. Well, he

started having other reactions and started having

behavioral issues. So for instance, I realized

he's a child, but he would throw like 45 minute

tantrums over something as simple as putting

clothes on. And we couldn't figure out what this

was about. And so... It was frustrating for us.

It was frustrating for him. I mean anything would

set him off and so Even the youngest was having

problems with the breathing coughing and whatnot

so My wife eliminated that and cut out gluten

too, and you would not believe how difficult

it is To eat when you don't have meat dairy Gluten

soy because everything's made of one of those

things So she took him to the doctor two days

ago and he was tested. They gave him the allergy

test and for behavioral and for just food allergy.

Suffice it to say the doctor said my son is highly

highly allergic to dairy to the point that they

gave him an EpiPen which I didn't think it was

that bad, but kind of makes sense because he

had the issues with the breathing. So they had

him tested for that, and he was tested for soy.

He's very allergic to that too. The gluten didn't

come up, but we haven't ruled that out yet. So

it makes it really difficult when you want to

make the poor kid a pizza or something because

you can't use... And mind you we buy tortillas

to do thin crust pizzas. It just it tastes better

I honestly don't care for the crust stuff anymore.

This had nothing to do with changing our diet.

It just it was being cheap So he has to get these

like five dollar things of of cheese that is

gluten free soy free dairy free You wouldn't

think it would be up without all that stuff in

case and free which is in milk Don't know how

this stuff stays together, but it does she just

found it too and we're gonna try it out tonight

for for dinner and So like I can have regular

stuff although I'm starting to wonder if I should

get the test too because I've had issues with

the same some of the same stuff not necessarily

the soy but like the dairy aspect or food and

Like breathing I have had issues with certain

foods causing me to choke up I just power on

through so yeah it was it was kind of an eye

opener that you know my son's so allergic to

this food that you know we can't really expose

him to it anymore we can't really feed it to

him and so yeah that was that was kind of a part

of the whole coming full circle of noticing that

you know some things do require you to change

and that's difficult no matter what the scenario

it's difficult to change difficult to to see

But everybody thought my wife was crazy about

the whole diet thing the doctors like nope mama

knew so But yeah, I'm gonna come back after this

quick break and talk about some of the the cool

tech stuff regarding the Do or don't on the iPhone

X or the cord cutting for adults in the US so

as you know, I'm still tweaking the show. I've

kind of decided a little bit different way I'm

gonna do the history lesson things in the coming

weeks. I'm retooling that. It was a little...

I don't know. I don't know how you guys felt

about it. I... It felt like another like newscast

in a sense like I'm reading these off. Hello.

Here they are I'm just not that interesting sounding

so I'm gonna instead of doing an entire week's

worth of like this week in geek history I'm going

to kind of do like a In a sense like an L cars

type thing of Star Trek that I would do on future

imperfect picking one subject and kind of doing

like a little mini history lesson and then and

then putting it in the show so let me know what

you guys think about that and then you know if

you have suggestions for for something for a

geeky history lesson put it in there and I'll

do some research and Have a have a little short

piece in the show so We're getting into more

of the era of cord cutting So I don't know about

you guys, but I noticed that There's been more

articles kind of popping up and this was on variety

They mentioned that cord cutting explodes 22

million US adults have canceled or will have

canceled cable satellite TV by the end of 2017

And honestly doesn't really surprise me with

the growing cost of living and the growing cost

of Just things that our generation wants to do

and the amount that things cost or the amount

you make. Everything kind of comes into this

pot of, you know, what bills do I have? What

can I afford? What do I want to do? And is this

thing really worth it? And that's kind of a lot

of the stuff with, especially our generation,

millennial or older, is we're kind of in that

market where we kind of have control now. And

we don't want to be shackled with these services

anymore that we don't really find value in. And

it's funny because years ago, I was clamoring

for a Cable package where it was an a la carte

you choose your own and I Was talking about it

and everybody's like oh it'll never happen. Oh,

it's it's it's Just this this pipe dream that

everybody wants. Well, we've kind of hit that

era with with digital media we've we've hit this

this sweet spot now where Everything's at our

fingertips. Everything we want access to. We

can get on the internet. We can get on our phone.

We can get on our tablet. I mean, we can get

on our computers. Everything's a smart device.

Everything has access to the internet. Everything

has a streaming service. I mean, for crying out

loud, Disney's gonna have one. Warner's gonna

have one. We have Netflix. We have Hulu. We have

HBO. We have CBS. We have, you know, they're

just popping up everywhere. Cartoon Network has

one. You know, everybody has one. So it doesn't

really surprise me that the cable and satellite

TV operators are kind of getting the shaft at

a kind of faster rate than they expected. They're

saying that American consumers are canceling

traditional pay TV service at a much faster rate

than previously expected according to a research

firm eMarketer. In 2017, a total of 22 .2 million

U .S. adults will have cut the cord on cable,

satellite, or telco TV service to date, up to

33 % from the 16 .7 million in 2016. The researcher

now predicts that significantly higher than eMarketer's

prior estimate of 15 .4 million cord cutters,

as of the end of this year, Meanwhile, the number

of CordCut Nevers, consumers who have never subscribed

to pay TV, will rise 5 .8 % this year to 34 .4

million. And then it kind of makes sense, like

I said. It always frustrates me when they want

to bundle me with the triple play. What do I

have use for a triple play? One, I have a cell

phone. I haven't needed a house phone ever. Since

I moved out of my parents house. I have not used

a house phone There's no value in it The only

time that there's value in it is if you have

crap for cell service in your own house That

is the only time I could see it being valid or

if you have a fax machine and run a business

out of your house but if you don't most of the

stuff can be done with your phone and even if

it can't you can pay for a Skype number and You

can pay for Skype service unlimited for the whole

year and it's still cheaper than phone bill.

So and I've toyed with that concept before because

when I have to do conference calls for work and

I'm sitting in my basement office and I'm trying

to be on my phone half the time if I'm not leaning

over half of my desk almost to the doorway not

in front of my monitor mind you I lose service,

or it's grainy, and I can't even, when you have

to punch in the codes to dial in, I have to go

all the way upstairs to do that, and then I have

to come back downstairs, which is just oodles

of fun. So I've actually toyed around with getting

a Skype number and using my computer, my microphone,

and calling in that way so I don't physically

have to have my phone, but that's neither here

nor there. But anyways, getting back to the triple

plays, I have no use for a home phone. Then getting

to cable. About 85 % of the stuff that's on television

I won't watch anyway. Not only because of my

beliefs, but because of the fact that it's just

not something I'd watch anyway. I don't watch

sports. I don't watch politics on TV. I get my

fill of that elsewhere through traditional radio

and that's the only place I get it. In social

media of course, but that's a cesspool anymore

and then I get You know my fun shows my sci -fi

my superheroes my comedies my family dramas like

I get all that stuff Primarily from the same

five channels Fox CBS NBC CW and ABC I think

I didn't say that so five channels. That's all

I watch. Nothing else on television is valid

to me. I can get those with rabbit ears. It's

funny because people our generation or younger

are sitting here and they're discovering that

you can get these channels for free. I knew that

but that's because when I was a kid I had a like

a 20 inch or 25 inch or something television

downstairs in my basement and it was one of those

old CRT TVs where you This this really dates

it. It was one of my family's old televisions.

They had I'm only 31 just putting that out there

It has a turn dial there were it was it had UHF

and VHF on it You could switch between the two

and you could knock it between channels 1 through

13 That's all the channels it got to you had

to have We had a VCR that had the capability

of plugging cable into it, so we could get regular

TV down there, but most of what you watched was

on VHS, and I know I just said DVD player. I

meant VHS player. It was that and the regular

basic channels, and years ago when we lived in

a condo that we were renting, It came with free

TV. I had to pay for internet Wasn't that bad

when we moved out and we went to a townhouse

and we even came to our house right now I Bought

this digital antenna from Walmart for from like

GE or something. It was like 20 bucks and I got

like 40 digital channels that were over the air.

I mean I had to adjust it occasionally because

sometimes it would get grainy, but It didn't

bother me. I'd put it on top of my entertainment

center and I could watch all the channels I wanted

to watch anyway. And then, if I didn't get it,

and this was before I got my streaming device,

or my streaming computer that plugs into my TV

through HDMI, I used to plug in my laptop HDMI.

And then I would physically go to like abc .com

or... You know CW or or some of those stations

just so that I could get to watch the show that

I missed And that's that's how I got around it

I didn't have to pay for cable and then they

try and bundle you with cable even if it's just

the basic stuff With your your internet to quote

-unquote give you a discount or a special and

they throw an HBO Well, I don't watch anything

on HBO and I don't watch cable so I just see

it as a ploy to charge me more money and get

me taxes for the cable. So it also makes sense

though that they charge the way they do for the

internet prices because nobody wants cable. So

again, going back to it, they say that younger

audiences continue to switch to eitherly or either

exclusively watching over the top video or watching

them in combination with free TV options. They're

saying last year, even the Olympics and the U

.S. presidential election could not prevent younger

audiences from abandoning pay TV. Overall, 196

.3 million U .S. adults will have traditional

pay TV this year, down 2 .4 % compared with 2016.

And they're saying that it's going to go down

from that by 2021, will drop to 181 .7 million

of decline of a whole 10 % by 20... from 2016.

Number of paid TV viewers, 55 and older, would

continue to rise over the next four years while

for every other age it will go down. Again, our

younger generation just doesn't want it. And

most of us don't watch TV. We watch, I mean,

like I said, I watch Netflix sometimes in bed

on my phone or my laptop. Late at night when

I'm playing on my computer, playing a game on

my big 27 -inch screen, on my 19 -inch screen,

I have Netflix playing. I never physically need

cable. Even my TV out in my living room. I have

a Blu -ray player, and then I have my portable

computer that I go on my Windows 10, and then

I stream the material. But what do you guys think

about this? What would influence you to keep

or get rid of cable? Like what do you guys watch

that that would make it worth it? I Like I said,

I am not one for paying for all these external

services like CBS is all access or Disney's that's

gonna come and You know a variety of these other

companies. I just I won't pay for it so instead

I'll either watch it on their website or I'll

just do without until it comes to a free option

later on because No matter what you charge eventually

something's gonna be free Like all these games

that come out they they want you to charge an

arm and a leg when they first come out But if

you wait a year you can get a good steal on the

price so So yeah, I'm I'm a little biased and

frustrated with the TV platforms and I know I

was clamoring and guesstimating years ago that

an a la carte would be nice, but With how much

each service wants to charge between eight and

twenty dollars a month it ends up totaling the

same as if you just had cable With the exception

of having their entire backlog so I guess if

you'd like everything that's on their backlog

go for it, but Yeah, it's It's a little crazy

little crazy be back right after this quick break

What are some topics that you guys want to hear

about? Like what are some some tech things that

or gaming or film or superhero topics that Resonates

with you at this point. I know that I've Not

been the biggest proponent of say like Apple

But I also know that They're like one of this

I think they're almost like a status thing And

I say that very caringly not to offend but I

Feel like they People get it because of the name.

I don't feel like it's this big significant phone

So Apple announced a new phone the iPhone X and

It's gonna be the new flagship CEO Tim Cook Brought

this out. I guess they've been working on it

for a decade which Looking at it. It kind of

reminds me of a glorified Android phone But they're

saying the new premium handset with edge -to

-edge display minus, you know the unfortunate

top -notch for controlling the user interface.

It says the multitasking looks fluid and intuitive.

I don't know if I would even care about this,

honestly. I'm an Android user through and through.

I'm not gonna switch from Android. One, I'm not

gonna pay the hefty price tags for these phones.

I spent... $10 and I got two brand new batteries

for my wife and my Samsung Galaxy S5 and They

run great again. It's for $10. I got all my battery

life back So I don't have to plug it in all day

long so I can use it So Yeah, they're saying

that there's a thousand dollar price tag on this

which I'm not Why would they I can't understand

why they would do this Just trying to make sure

I'm not looking at like a bad article, but yeah,

it's I mean I'm reading it off tech crunch and

They're saying that It's supposed to have Like

this new face ID system as well so you can you

can interact with your your phone by looking

at it. I'm not quite sure how that's supposed

to work. I'll have to get Booth Ninja back on

here because he knows a lot more about Apple

products than I ever will or ever care to know.

But I would really like clarification on this

new one just so I know what is going on with

with these devices So yeah, that's that's definitely

something we're gonna have to revisit I think

But since I'm on the subject of smartphones they

also had an article on TechCrunch that That mentioned

a battery -free cell phone that runs on light

and radio waves which has me intrigued because

they're saying that You can make calls without

ever having to charge your phone for that reason

and I guess it's a part of a Google faculty research

program that received National Science Foundation

grants Vazmi Tala built a single board cell phone

a one board cell phone which just seems insane

that can make regular phone calls connect you

to emergency services and They're commercializing

the product at Jeeva Wireless But I guess that

according to the IEEE, this thing can make Skype

calls and receive power from the sunlight RF

waves sent by nearby base stations from a nearby

customer cellular phone carrier. They're saying

that the backscattering, which is the technique

they're calling it, the phone can make a voice

call by modifying and reflecting the same waves

back to the base station. So they're saying that

the prototype even works made of commercial off

-the -shelf components And it can communicate

with a base station and applications like Skype

the phone consumes only three microwatts of power

Which they're stating is about 10 ,000 times

less Than what a current smartphone consumes

if they can do that that would be awesome because

then you can go like a week or more by being

able to actually use your phone now granted you

might actually get a full week out of it if you

had the Smartphone type device because this is

just considering this is just for calls But they're

saying that this this technology doesn't require

much in the way of changing cell towers They're

saying that cell phones could easily add this

feature in the future that means that you could

make a call even on a dead phone Which would

be nice that if your phone died and heaven forbid

you needed a phone That your phone could kick

in this battery charger that from the waves that

could give you enough to make phone calls alone

and not be able to use the rest of your phone,

that would be awesome. But they're saying that

they're planning to add an e -ink display, which

means you could feasibly do very basic smartphone

options on your battery -less phone, which essentially

would be like your old flip phone kind of system,

I'm kind of imagining. But they're saying the

current model could cost as less as a dollar

to produce, which makes it excellent for developing

countries. I think this would be awesome just

to implement here. Let alone there. I mean you

think about all of the people that carry their

phones every day to be able to have this ability

built into your phone That if you're in trouble

and you need Battery power and your phone's dead

that you could flip a switch essentially and

turn off the smartphone Capabilities and just

use the phone and have it charged from the radio

waves in the Sun. That's insane But yeah, I would

definitely be down for that if that was the case

or heck I'd rather get one of those phones, keep

my old smartphone as just a, not even have it

on cell service, just keep my old phone as like

my tablet, and just not go any further with it.

And then of course, I was playing Star Trek Online

earlier in the week, they came out with a new,

a new episode and They It's supposed to be return

to the Nexus and Geordi's in it and it's really

short. I was kind of disappointed by playing

it. It was 10 minutes long Literally about 10

minutes and that was if you took your time Because

there's not much to do but they've it was essentially

a commercial for the the redesigned galaxy class

Starship interior for you know from the hallways

to the transporter to the 10 forward which is

tiny by the way to the bridge and It was It was

fun and it was nice to see Jordy in there and

I know that the full episode this wasn't an actual

full episode episode 14 comes out next month,

but I was a little disappointed that they got

the Nexus and then they had an alien that somehow

was trapped in the Nexus for millennia or something

and He takes command of a starship and he says

he needs the starship Which was another odd request

and they they named him Khajbur K -H -A -J -B

-U -U -R and He's all covered in like what looks

like space glow Some people actually got a glitch

though in their game because the game is always

full of glitches in some some regards but they

say he left the Nexus itself to walk walk among

us, but It looks like Kerland Captain Kerland

in in the game who if you've been playing it's

it's already a character that's shown up at some

point but it looks like him i have no idea what

the significance is but he's supposed to be locked

in in the nexus i almost wonder if the nexus

is like a natural evolution of the the great

barrier in the original series that comes back

I would be really interested to find that out,

honestly. So I was looking at some of the things

that people have been using for podcasting help,

and I noticed WorkFlowy is one of those things

that everybody's been using, or some people have

been using. It kind of does like a natural, like

a Word document in a sense, but you get the bullet

points, and you can hide things or mark them

complete when you get through with them while

you're recording. It's kind of nice. It creates

like a show notes in essence The only thing with

it. I I find it a little bit frustrating is it's

a little bit more difficult to remove this stuff

I mean, it's not that difficult. It's just I'm

lazy I like to just select the whole section

and just wipe it out Rather than having to hit

complete or delete or whatever So I went back

to using Google Docs in any case for that aspect

and I just like my Google Docs better. It's easier.

But there is something actually really cool.

There's a search engine, s -o -o -v -l -e .com,

which when you type something in, it will search

Wikipedia, Answers, Google, YouTube, Bing, Yahoo,

and Amazon all at the same time on this search

engine. And it's kinda neat. So if you type in,

you know, and you hit it, it will show the results

under each logo on the screen. So it's kind of

interesting to see that pop up. And then if you

hit a specific icon underneath it, it will search

that search engine alone. I kind of like that

as an option, anyhow. And then there's another

site that will actually search Google keywords.

So if you're looking for, and it'll search Google,

YouTube, Bing, Amazon, eBay, and the App Store.

So you can kind of try and tailor stuff according

to specific keywords, like the Next Web posted

this, and Search Engine Watch. It takes like

the autocomplete to generate hundreds of relevant

long tail keywords for any topics, so It's an

interesting tool. I have yet to use it I will

probably have that more commented next week,

but I Just came across this and I thought it

was kind of a neat thing to check out But we

did get an iTunes review And it was from Blackout

and Shout on September 10th. Five stars, great

podcast, very informative about the subjects

that I care about. Stephen really carries the

show and is very entertaining while doing it.

Having a listen and you will enjoy it. Thank

you very much for the comments there and yeah,

just keep the iTunes comments coming. We only

have one in 2015, none in 2016, which is a little

bit surprising, but... A lot of it was in 2013,

2014, and now 2017, so be sure to check out the

podcast more often. I have a lot of stuff down

the pipe that I'm hoping to try. And finally,

what are some of the shows you're looking forward

to debuting this fall? With me so far, it was

the Orville. I'm of course looking forward to

the return of the next episode of it. I'm also

looking forward to... Gotham's return with Bruce

Wayne starting to don the Batman armor and then

getting of course return of Scarecrow and Ra's

al Ghul in the form of Julian Bashir of DS9.

Butch Gilzan revealed as Cyrus Gold gonna come

back as Solomon Grundy. The Joker's Falcone.

Riddler, you know penguin. It's it's gonna be

interesting Star Trek discovery I'm gonna check

it out. No matter how much I complain about it

Also looking forward to SNL it's been good the

last few years Politics aside I enjoy the show

overall Looking forward to Supergirl the flash

legends of tomorrow Arrow Star Wars Rebels returning,

Supernatural. I don't really know of any other

ones that are gonna be back. I'm sure there's

others. I just can't, I can't think of them at

the moment. But I'm definitely, definitely looking

forward to those shows to say the least. So yeah.

That about rounds this episode out. I don't really

have too much more than that There's there's

plans for some other stuff. I just I don't know

the only other thing that I'll probably touch

on is the fact that I Had a conversation the

next web brought up how actors are suing are

taking IMDB to court for publishing their ages.

And I thought it was a little bit ridiculous,

and I kind of posted as much. On Twitter I put,

if you don't fit the look or the age the director

or writer had in mind, then you don't fit the

part. So maybe that's why they don't get the

roles. And one of my friends says, well, it's

more than that because Hollywood is a place that

will cut you off simply based on a number. Which

is true, but it is still a thing where people

are faded out based on performances, mostly looks,

for the next generation of TV filmgoers. Why

do you think we've gotten years where we'll get

certain actors and actresses that can't act their

way out of a cardboard box? You have these older

talented actors and actresses that are getting

shoved off to play granny parts And grandpa parts

and can't play actual characters anymore So,

I mean I totally get it But the person they reference

Is neither well I'll get to that in a second,

but I kind of mentioned that you know Maybe it's

the lack of talent or they're terrible to work

with because that is A lot of the case in Hollywood,

too, that they may not get jobs. And somebody

else, one of my other friends, said is, Hollywood

is ageist, so I can see why many may take issue,

which, again, it is, but... It was also mentioned

by another person on Twitter that wouldn't they

need to show their ID when signing up for a role

anyway? I mean, how exactly would they fool the

studio? They could just still not hire them based

on it. So I just I think it's a weird thing to

sue for I think the lady that they mentioned

the fact that she only makes $2 ,000 a year as

an actress and Stating that the age is the reason

and suing IMDB for two million dollars. I think

that's ridiculous I think it's because you know,

maybe you just lack the talent or the exposure

and it just never got big Yes, the age could

be part of it, but that's already a cutthroat

business to be in anyway. If you listen to any

actor, voice actor talk about it, they tell you

this much. I've talked to enough of voice actors.

They've all said that it's cutthroat. If you

can do anything else, do that before doing this,

because you more than likely are going to be

sticking it out for years before he gets a bone

thrown to you. But you know I can see where age

is part of the reason but it also it goes hand

-in -hand with talent and looks That's part of

it. So unless you're a voice actor It's gonna

matter if you're a voice actor doesn't matter

you can be a hundred years old and Decrepit and

still play a character. That's you know in there

like 40s 50s or something I mean it just you

never really age out of voice acting you voice

out of or you age out of out of acting so then

me and another person had a kind of a geek off

with with memes and he says really this is how

the judge should reply to those those lawyers

and plays a clip of Joe Pesci with were you serious

about that and then I did the Janeway facepalm

so you know what do you guys think about that

as well I I'm throwing a lot of stuff out there

at you guys this episode I'm just kind of looking

forward to seeing what comes out of it on Friday

week, but if not, check out the other shows and
