About this Episode

Steve and Michael return after a week off, discussing Steve's move to a new house, his experience with Comcast's billing and new 2GB internet service, and Comcast's upcoming competition with Google Fiber. They also dive into Deadpool's R rating versus PG-13 possibilities, James Bond's Spectre trailer and the Daniel Craig Bond films, Marvel's Daredevil on Netflix, and tease an upcoming games club project for the show.

Hey, this is Steve blue and you are listening

to the geek cast radio network Hello and welcome

Welcome to Altered Geek Unlimited, episode 82.

I am your sometimes host, Michael Powers. I'm

joined as always by Steve Megatron Phillips.

Steve, how you doing? Good, you? Good. Exhausted.

I've been working and moving. Today was like

the first day. We're in the middle of our move.

The big push is coming on Friday, but since Monday,

this is the first day that my wife and I haven't

had any interaction with Family or like moving

boxes or various things from house to house So

I and I'm I'm just like dead I I'm surprised

I have the energy to record this podcast tonight

And it's funny because my wife got out of work.

We went out to eat. I was like, man, I just want

to go home and go to bed. And we're both like,

yeah, that sounds great. And then I was like,

oh, I have to record a podcast. So. Luckily,

I have this Coca Cola life. I don't really think

that's doing anything for me, though. It has

no life. Yeah, I wanted to try it because. It

doesn't have high fructose corn syrup in it So

I was thinking it was gonna be more like traditional

Coca -Cola But they added stevia to it Which

I'm pretty sure is just another thing that causes

cancer it is so actually it's a stevia leaf extract

So it comes from a plant I Don't know. I don't

have time to Google this stuff. I just wanted

to try it. I like see I have this weird thing

like I buy things on impulse like if I walk through

It's really bad when I go to work on Saturdays

and I go to Kroger before I go into the theater

on Saturdays to buy my food for the day and It's

really back. So see all the products that they

have it'd be like try these, you know, one of

the things I recently found was um Reese's peanut

butter cup Oreos Amazing and I found them when

I was on my way into work. I walked by a display

and I was like, limited edition, try the Reese's

Oreos. And I was like, I like Reese's, I like

Oreos. I shall try these. They were really good.

But that happens all the time when I go in there

and one time I went in and I saw this new Coke

in the organic food section, which I don't know

how Coke can be considered organic anything.

Can't see that either so I When my wife and I

stopped at Kroger on our way home from dinner

I decided to not only did I grab some more Reese's

peanut butter cup Oreos I Grabbed a six -pack

of this it also comes in the glass jar, which

I always appreciate This tastes better without

the plastic floating around the other thing I've

noticed is pop stays carbonated longer in a glass

jar Not sure if that's just modern science or

chemistry or what but Kind of ancient science

no true Yeah, but you know it goes big what goes

around come cyclical. You know comes back around

true But yeah, just been moving One of the first

things they did when we moved in as I hooked

up my my fancy thermostat Which I'm I'm constantly

tinkering with which I knew I would until it

just becomes the thing in the background It's

kind of interesting it it shows you a breakdown

of when the furnace was actually running Like

nice so I can go online or on my phone or on

the thermostat itself and it tells me it'll show

me like a timeline of the entire 24 hour period

of when it was running and it shows me any time

that the temperature was changed throughout the

day. But like I said, I've only had it hooked

up for 48 hours now, so I don't really have a

lot to say about it other than it's pretty neat

being able to not having to get up to change

the temperature of your house or to be able to

set it while you're not at home. Know everyone

always rags on Comcast for being an awful company

Their customer support does suck though. I say

they can't seem to get my bill right see and

that and and I feel bad for you Like I know that

these things happen, but I am one of the few

lucky people I've never had an issue with Comcast

And I've always been able to get what I want

from them for the most part And it was really

weird because This move was interesting because

about a month ago. My current promotion with

Comcast was running out So I called him up. I

said, hey, I would like to keep your the fastest

internet you have But I'm only interested in

it if you'll give me the promotional price for

12 months which was like $90 and said versus

like 120 and I said if you can't give me that

then I'm just gonna go with your your second

fastest. So it's like you can either, you know,

give me what I want to make an extra 20 bucks

or I will go with your second fastest and you'll

lose out on 20 bucks, you know. Obviously they

made the right choice because they like money

and they gave me what I wanted. Well, the funny

thing is when I moved, I said, I want to transfer

all my services from my old house to my new house.

And I had a technician come out yesterday and

he ran all new lines to my house which made me

really happy and When he left I had everything

set up and everything was working Well, he like

about five o 'clock yesterday Excuse me about

five o 'clock yesterday. I realized that the

the internet wasn't working anymore and I had

a feeling it was because the My I own my own

cable modem and I had a feeling it wasn't properly

set up on my new account. For my new address,

I called them up and I said, hey, I don't have

access to my internet. I think I know what's

going on. And the guy was really helpful. He

said, yeah, that's what it is. Just give me a

couple serial numbers here and stuff like that

and we'll get you all set up. And then he's asking

me questions about my account. He's like, are

you renting a modem from us? And I said, no,

I'm not renting a modem. I have my own. He goes,

okay. Well, it says here you're renting a modem.

I said, well, that's a mistake. And then I said,

he said, what services were you transferring

from your other home? I said, well, I'm supposed

to have your fastest internet for $90 a month

for 12 months. He says, well, that's not, they

didn't do that either. They said, They gave me

their second fastest and they were charging me

at equipment rental fee. Oh wow. So I was like,

I was like, wait a second. So did I lose my promotion?

Cause you know, sometimes it's like with promotions,

it's always really weird, right? You get the

one person will give it to you, but if you alter

it in any way, shape or form, like the next person

you talk to either can't find that promotion

or like that promotion doesn't exist. So they

can't activate it again. And so I was like, So

did I lose my promotion? I wasn't like, Ali said

I kind of sounded snippy, but I was, you know,

I was just like, did I lose my promotion? But

then if I had, I was going to be like, fine,

whatever, just give me the second fastest. But

he was like, well. All right, this is what I

can do. I can save you some more money. I was

like, OK, and he goes, I'll give you our fastest

Internet. With with cable TV and HBO and all

this other stuff that you didn't have before

for 12 months. for 75 bucks i was like okay i'm

not gonna say no the guy chopped 15 off my bill

and gave me more than what i had before and i

didn't even ask for it i did not ask it's really

yeah it's just that's it's that's pretty good

i didn't have to go online onto twitter to to

to to complain about it even though that that

has gotten me results in the past Will say that

using that makes no bearing anymore. No No, I

can't get I'll get a reply like two weeks after

I've sent him a message at this point Wow Well,

I don't know if they had me on this national

fu list or if they just Because like I realistically

I try and be nice when I when I first started

talking to him and I just want my bill corrected.

There's nothing wrong with the service itself.

I've just not had a consistent bill since I signed

up in December and they screwed it up one month

and they sent our bill to another. They sent

our payment to another account and then they

later sorted it out after the fact, but they

deactivated my account and then I owed double

charges because they lost the money. and then

they made me pay a reactivation fee. I had already

paid my bill like two weeks before, and this

all happened, and then it got that all straightened

out. Then they refunded everything, and then

they're supposed to put a $20 credit on the account,

because I just have their 25 megabyte internet,

$29 .99 for 12 months, and they botched it. They

they said oh, we'll give it to you. It'll be

under next month's bill Well, it wasn't on the

next month's bill and then we had another charge

that showed up last month So we argued with them

and I did the phone chat or not the phone chat

the text chat So that I could get the reference

number and all the information and get it in

writing that you know I'm supposed to have a

$20 credit then they tell me oh, it'll be under

next month's bill, and I'm like yeah, okay so

This month's bills comes it's 20 99 which would

be fine if they would have gave me the damn $20

credit yeah, so now I'm arguing over the $20

credit because At this point they they've been

continuously pissing Mary off about it because

it's in her name Which is how we get the promotion

in the first place and Like she can't stand dealing

with them because they're just airheads on the

phone Really their airheads all together when

it comes to their billing department. I think

they have some moron in there that's snort and

crack and Not paying attention to the numbers

he's inputting or you know, just whatever it's

it's it's such a headache What it doesn't work,

right? To get it fixed. I Mean your case I would

say you're very lucky. Yeah. No, I understand

but It seems like since I've moved to this house.

I've had nothing but billing problems That's

unfortunate But my experience I mean this I always

have great. I always have a good time getting

Decent pricing from them when it comes to like

technical support. That's where they've been

like hit -and -miss like I used to call I'm pretty

sure I talked about it on either off the cuff

or on here in some episode, but there was One

of my previous deals I had with them, I had TV,

but the cable box never worked. If I connected

it to my TV with an HDMI cable, I would get sound

and no picture. But their guide would show up.

I could see the guide, but I would never see

an actual picture for whatever I was watching.

And I called them a number of times saying, hey,

listen. I've got, you know, a box hooked up.

It's hooked up with an HDMI cable. I can see

the guide. I can see the menus. But if I go to

a TV channel, it doesn't play anything. All I

get is the audio. If I hook it up with a standard

coaxial cable, it works just fine. But I don't

want it hooked up that way. And the guy was like,

said, oh, let me send a refresh signal. That'll

fix it. OK. Well, that was the first time, you

know, that didn't work. So I don't know. I let

it go. And then like. because I was bored a couple

of months later, like I don't watch TV. So like

a couple of months later, I'd call him up and

be like, hey, this still this isn't working.

This is what's going on. Just to get a different

guy and see what they say. And he was like, well,

I'm going to send a refresh signal. I was like,

that's what they did last time. It's not going

to work. He goes, well, I'm going to send a stronger

refresh signal. I was like, OK, you send a stronger

refresh. I was like, OK, whatever. And he's like

he's like. Yeah, it this this one's gonna work.

I was like, okay Can I get like an employee number

for you or something? So when I call back tomorrow

because this didn't work I Give him your number

because you said what he's like, yeah here it

is. So I wrote his number down and Lo and behold

the next day it didn't work. But you know what?

I didn't do I didn't call back and complain I

had already moved on So the last time I called

about it I actually got on the phone with some

guy and I said hey listen this is what's going

on gave him the whole spiel again he goes oh

I know exactly what that is I said I stopped

him I said are you gonna send a stronger signal

he goes no that's not what it is there's a flag

on the account that just has to be switched and

lo and behold on his end he flipped a little

thing in my box got updated and I had picture

like while I was on the phone with him Wow I

was like Do you realize like you realize I called

three times over the last year and you are the

one that figured it out I've given everyone the

exact same thing He was he was flabbergasted

but see that was just that was just me going

and looking for it like I Didn't need the TV.

I didn't want to watch the TV I wasn't calling

because it was something I wanted to watch you

couldn't I was just like I want to see if I can

get this fixed this time because I'm supposed

to be able to Watch TV, but I can't So yeah,

that's that's that I'm I'm I'm pretty happy with

everything that's going on so far. I Like the

house everything's what's weird is everything's

so much quieter in this house than it was at

my other house Now if you guys can hear anything

on my end, my wife is doing laundry. I Can't

hear anything. Okay why I can hear it but I it's

just It sounds like it's my furnace, but I know

my furnace isn't on because the curtain in front

of me is not blowing. But it's so much quieter

than my other house because I was right on top

of all the utilities in my other house. Like,

but now I'm like like an insulated floor above

it and then, you know, I've got a second floor.

I can't hear anything. It's it's fantastic. It's

almost too quiet in my house. So. As everyone

may or may not have noticed we did not record

a show last week. So Steve what have you been

up to? Well, I had the flu last week. So that's

why we didn't record No, I Got to register for

school Surprisingly enough it opened up April

1st So it's like the jokes on you all the hours

suck. Mm -hmm So yeah, I registered for classes

I Can only take one for spring session summer.

There's nothing and then fall because you can

you can register for spring summer fall at the

same time And I registered for fall as well,

so I have two classes for fall I have the one

for spring So after those three are done. I'll

be down to four classes before I can get my degree

And That'll be nice degrees Even though I'm pretty

sure it's gonna mean diddly squat no grand scheme

of things, but we shall see So, anyways, there's

that. Doing cinema production for a spring session.

Found out that I can use my Pell Grant still

for one class despite the school a year ago when

I went into the counseling office to schedule

classes. Telling me that oh, no, you can't use

your Your grant for under six credit hours and

Then I was checking their financial aid on their

website and it says the Pell Grant Has doesn't

really have a limit. It just says that your amount

of money gets cut if you take less classes Hmm,

which I knew that because you know the more classes

you take the more of the the great you get And

the less you take, the less you get. So I figured

I should be able to take one class and it would

just cut the money I would get for the six credit

hours and a half for the three or four. So I

contacted financial aid and I took screenshots

of everything and sent it to them so that they

could see clearly that it doesn't say there's

a limit. And they're like, yes, you can use it

for that class. It just reduces the amount of

money. And I was like, OK, cool, I can take the

class then. Good deal. Because the problem I'm

running into now is With working full -time These

classes are like 1130 to 230. So they're three

hour classes Or they're 1230 to 330. So it cuts

right into the middle of my day and I can only

take Two days out of my week because at that

point I'm only losing one actual hour of overtime

So that's that's the only thing that's gonna

Kind of hurt there, but because I skipped my

lunches during the week to make up for the overtime

that I'm losing for the extra hours. I'm going

in class so Kind of sucks in that regard so I

can't really afford to take more than one class

at a time when they're like that unless they're

one day and Three hours and then one day at three

hours, and then it's you know I can take two

classes that way but well, it's almost over Yeah

Then I can find a new job Hopefully fingers crossed

yes So yeah, that's what I've been doing for

the most part You want to talk about some stuff

we found interesting Yes, let's You want to go

first since I did a lot of talking yeah Well,

I think the the most fun thing that I noticed

on april fools day was the deadpool video well

okay okay the video hit on the same i feel like

they should have waited a day like done the whole

uh pg -13 thing and let that ride the internet

for a day and then done this then release this

video today but it's still it doesn't doesn't

hurt anything at all. It's still fantastic. I

enjoyed it greatly. For anyone that hasn't seen

it, we can probably put it in the show notes.

I'll put the video in there. But basically, Ryan

Reynolds is doing an interview with Mario Lopez

as a it's done up as an extra style interview.

And it's about the. the movie being rated PG

-13. It's only about a minute and 30 seconds

long and the end is totally, it's totally worth

sitting there for 90 seconds. It's fantastic.

I just, I lost it watching that. I thought that

was great. And it's supposed to be teasing the,

oh, it's a PG -13 and then it says, no, it's

totally rated R. Yep. That's gonna be a fun movie.

I'm glad it's finally happening, especially after...

X -Men origins And it's been so long. So my you

know, there's so many times it may not have happened

But I'm glad it is now and see that the rating

though doesn't really bother me I don't know

why people get tied up in the rating of a movie.

I mean There are so many movies that have been

PG -13 that I just think should have been rated

R myself Even animated ones and I'll just come

right out and say it. I think flashpoint paradox

should have been rated R and not PG -13 It definitely

felt like that I mean if that had been live -action

that would have been rated R So I I don't know

why animation gets past um in that regard, but

There there are other movies and stuff like that.

I mean, I'm not like I'm like prude or anything

I'm not gonna sit there and say like, you know

I wouldn't let You know a teenager watch like

the Dark Knight or anything like that, but you

know Dark Knight pushed the limits I think there

are a lot of movies that have pushed the limits

of what PG -13 means in the last decade That

it's it's really interesting because there's

a lot of stuff that a Lot of stories about the

MPAA the first cut the first cut of Transformers

was rated R Until Spielberg like went down to

the MPA and bitch slapped them. Now, I don't

know if they made cuts and resubmitted it to

get the PG -13 rating. I don't know, but ratings

are subjective. So someone there watched it and

gave it a rating. But the rating for a movie

is not a determining factor if I see it or not.

It has no bearing on it. It just baffles me that

people get so caught up in the rating of a movie

But I can see where some people care Only for

the fact that Some movies kind of get impacted

by that Kind of neutered from their original

But a lot of them don't I don't I've read some

Deadpool comics then again my my understanding

of daredevil comes from daredevil and cable and

daredevil that that run So I don't I Don't remember

anything to Other than like even in the books

they censored themselves like I think it'd be

a lot I think I think it'd be a lot more funny

or a lot funnier Whatever I think it'd be a lot

A lot funnier to see a Deadpool movie where they

actually bleeped out his swearing Because if

you do it right a bleep a censored swear word

is often funnier than him actually saying the

word It's like I saw this thing of I've seen

a couple memes, but I've also seen a couple things

like I think it was for the video game Maybe

where you start swearing and then it just has

a bunch of symbols. Yeah Well, anything is in.

I don't know. I just think there is a way to

make Deadpool. There would have been a way to

make a Deadpool movie without it being rated

R. And I understand that's because they want

to be able to say they'll use the language, but

they don't use the language in the comics. They

censor themselves. So. I mean, when they censor

themselves like that in the comics, you can put

whatever words you want in there. So, I don't

know, it's just interesting to me whenever whenever

the whole ratings discussion comes up. You know

like oh you can't do a Punisher movie if it's

not gonna be rated R You can't do this if it's

not gonna be rated R who says have you guys not

been paying attention to anything like any of

the Warner Brothers movies? Like superhero movies

like some of that stuff's pretty dark man. They

get away with a lot So It's just always an interesting

discussion. That's all and that was it's a really

funny You know it's a really funny video Yeah,

I I Love the fact that also he's in the costume

Yeah, that that's I think that's the most that's

the cooler thing about all of this is that that

it's Deadpool They're not messing around It's

exactly what you would hope a live -action Deadpool

would look like And I yeah, it's not the the

Wolverine origins version and I love the first

picture they put out with him in the costume,

which is him laying on the bearskin rug. It almost

doesn't look like it's him, but it is. Everything

about it is fantastic, but then again, I'm a

Ryan Reynolds fan, so I was going to go see this

movie. I'm going to see that in theater. It begs

to be seen in theater. Plus, going back to my

Hollywood stock exchange, I have stock in this

movie, so I'm really hoping it does well. I don't

see a reason why it won't. You never know. People

get possessive of their favorite franchises.

Just ask a Transformers fan. Are you speaking

of one specifically? I'm just talking about Transformers

fans. Anyways, I think yeah, we should get off

that train wreck Something I found interesting

that popped up today Because I'm an internet

speed freak Comcast is going to attempt to take

on Google Fiber Now no pricing has been announced

but the first thing they're doing is Comcast

broadband service there. They announced a two

gigabit per second Internet or Google Fiber is

one gigabit per second now. That's that's symmetrical

up and down so two up and two down and I'm excited

that Comcast did this because Comcast is like

everywhere. They're huge only that they have

access to the telephone poles and the infrastructure

needed to roll this out where Google has to Do

a lot of work in a given area to make it work

That's why Google Fiber is so slow to roll out

Now it's it's interesting because just put this

in perspective I have 105 Meg internet from Comcast

right now and 2 gigabit per second internet comes

out to 2048 megabits per second so if you want

like a straight -up number like identical number

in the same What are those data the same same

data bracket that's that's what it comes out

to be But you know 2 gigabit sounds a lot cooler

than 2048 megabits per second Now my wife and

I were out to dinner we were talking about this

because I'm a speed freak I'm very interested

in this. I hope it rolls out super fast They

said it's gonna be in like a million homes by

the end of the year And it's going out to 18

cities and they're starting in an in urban environments

first Because they're closer to the backbone

required for that speed But rural rural areas

will be covered eventually as well Now as far

as pricing they didn't announce pricing, but

they're gonna have to be competitive with Google

and some other like local municipalities because

like Chattanooga Tennessee has their own gigabit

Ethernet network that they or gigabit internet

service that they offer to their Citizens and

they charge $70 a month For that and Google Fiber

is around a hundred bucks a month for one gigabit

per second speeds so Theoretically since there

is this twice as fast they could probably charge

if they really wanted to two hundred dollars

for it I mean just going off of existing math

I'm hoping that they have speed tiers like if

you're gonna do two gigabits. Why not offer one

gigabit? I'd like to reduce price so I I would

like to see them do that mostly because My animals

are fighting. Sorry listeners They have so much

more space to run around and so that's what they

do um I'm hoping they offer a lower tier because

nothing in my house Even the Ethernet network

that I'm going to put in my house can handle

two gigabits per second Everything cast out at

one gig of it. I mean obviously you can hardware

eventually catch up to it, but That once it gets

in my house That speed is effectively have So

at that point it becomes useless now. They did

say that this is going to require a professional

installation Someone you know they have to come

out and run a fiberline to your house And fiber

hardware inside the home. So chances are you

probably won't be able to use your own modem.

But that doesn't change the fact that once it

gets in your computer, my computer does not have

a two gigabit ethernet port in it. It's a one

gigabit ethernet port, so. So why have the extra

if you can't use it? I think it's just marketing

purposes. So they can say that they have more.

It's probably so they can say they have more,

but also don't forget If my computer has one

gigabit ethernet access, my wife's computer has

one gigabit ethernet access. So you both could

actually use the one gigabyte. Right. So it's

I mean, two comes in and we don't have to worry

about it being throttled. But then again, the

internal network still can't go that fast. We

both have to be hard lined into it in order for

it to work that way. I don't know. It's just

a mess. So I'm hoping they have a tier that's

a step down. The other thing my wife asked me

about was Is there anything that can even use

this? Like Netflix, YouTube, HBO Now, HBO Go,

Steam, the PlayStation Network, does that type

of speed even matter for that stuff? And I know

for a fact that the PlayStation Network caps

out at about five megabits, like five capital

M, capital B. Even though I pay for a hundred

I can't the PlayStation will not access all of

it. It's it's capped at five Now if I go like

download a torrent or something I get like 14

Capital M capital B. I don't know if I can ever

remember that's bits or bytes, but torrenting

takes advantage of it totally Steam takes advantage

of it like Nobody's business any bandwidth you

can throw it that steam. They'll just give it

to you as fast as you can pull it. It's yours

But from what I've heard I guess the actual benefit

to that type of internet From I've heard from

people that have used Google Fiber is that web

pages at the internet No longer feels like this

thing that is outside of your computer Like it

it feels like it's a local thing like all that

stuff like all of Google all of Wikipedia all

of YouTube It feels like all of that is stored

locally on your computer Because you get it so

fast like web pages They don't load. They're

just there YouTube videos. They don't load. They're

finished before they even start playing Like

that's that's what this The gigabit ethernet

or the gigabit broadband services are about it's

like the instantaneousness of it and the like

and that excites me like I I Think that's great

If it just becomes like a thing like it finally

becomes a tool that's like usable like you want

to send a file somewhere boom It's there. It's

like you dragged and dropped it like from a different

folder on your hard drive You're not waiting

for it to sink, you know So that's kind of what's

exciting about it and I get excited about that

because I like I said and I've said before I

live on the internet my Like everything in my

house is connected to it anything that I have

in my house I can connect to the internet is

constantly connected to the internet And I'm

excited because it's Comcast I'm sure they're

gonna try and bend people over for an arm and

a leg but they've got competition, you know and

They'll have more of it eventually I'm pretty

sure Comcast is moving out of the area though,

out of Michigan. That would be interesting. I'm

pretty sure it's gonna be a charter area after

a while. That makes me sad. That's what I've

heard anyhow, from people that work there. Oh.

Are they disgruntled employees? No, actually

they're current employees. Doesn't mean they're

not disgruntled. Yeah, that's true one of them

is married to somebody that I work with so Tell

me reason I know what I know I'm excited for

this Just because it means that you know, maybe

AT &T will start doing it too. I mean AT &T started

rolling out theirs, but it's only in like us

in Texas and one other place I don't understand

what takes so long for these things to happen

There's a market for it clearly the text sites

are you know? buzzing about Google Fiber like

if you're AT &T and your Comcast and you have

the infrastructure in place to do this already

like The telephone poles the lines in the poles.

Those are yours. You can replace those Whenever

you want like I don't understand, you know why

they drag their feet in the face of you know,

I I just don't get it. I mean obviously it's

a business thing Totally, I guess I do get it

you get it from a business standpoint. I just

don't get it from Offering your customers something

to pay for But then again, there has to be enough

people to pay for it to benefit the expansion,

right? It's a chicken and an egg thing Yeah So,

I don't know I guess it's where you need like

a disruptor to do that, but I don't know who

disrupts the I Don't know who disrupts home internet,

you know like Mobile internet was a lot easier

to disrupt. I don't know who disrupts You know

your home internet service that's gonna be interesting

to see All right, what do you get already um

Well, maybe we should talk about the fact that

Batman versus Superman or V Superman Still doesn't

have a trailer yet Yeah, now this isn't an original

thought by me and I'm pretty sure a lot of people

on Twitter have had this thought but I The thought

was put in my head or was brought to my attention

By a guy named Bob Chipman who is movie Bob formerly

of the escapist His tweet came about after another

trailer that was released Just or last week Maybe

two weeks ago. I can't I can't quite recall but

it was for the new James Bond film specter Which

by the way that trailer is fantastic, but that

movie's only been shooting for like a month or

two And we already have a trailer and Batman

versus Superman has been shooting since we started

this podcast Yeah, the first night and We haven't

seen anything. Now, that's not a knock against

Batman versus Superman. Not at all. That's just,

but it's just crazy to me. And we're supposed

to get one with Mad Max. That's the rumor going

around the internet today. You're supposed to

get one with Mad Max. I guess if you need a reason

for people to go see the Mad Max movie, that

would be a good enough reason, right? Would assume

so but I'm still waiting for YouTube. It's like

putting the Star Wars. It's like putting Star

Wars episode 1 in front of meet Joe black So

although I don't think I'll have exactly the

same thing because Batman versus Superman is

not Star Wars But Yeah, it's crazy I'm interested

to see what we see I'm also really excited for

the movie But I I've been that way since you

know we started talking about it since you know

I I still remember when they announced because

we were recording When they announced a flick

as Batman Yeah, it was a couple episodes in yeah,

they did I remember I remember we basically reconciled

during that the in course of that episode We

started off as like oh, I don't like it and by

the end of it We're like I don't be proud, but

it'll be pretty good. It'll be fine So Yeah,

I I'm kind of like I like you said I'm kind of

Wonder what they're gonna do with it and why

it took so long But I'm just I guess I'm gonna

just happy that they're gonna have one finally.

Yeah Did you see the James Bond trailer no, I

did not do you care about James Bond Would say

probably not okay as much It's not tonight. It's

not that I don't have any respect for it. I just

It's one of those series that it just I've never

it's not your bag care No, I like I I would sooner

probably watch a For instance another born movie,

okay, I thought for a second you're gonna say

Austin Powers, and I was gonna hang up on hell

no I I that series is terrible It's funny, but

it's terrible But yeah, that's I would much prefer

to watch that over Like I like I said a born

movie over the other stuff so Have you seen any

of the Daniel Craig movies? No, I See I got with

the exception of soulless. I would actually recommend

them But because I was only a little Like as

far as, I really wasn't sure what the jumping

on point was for some of them. Well, the thing,

and first of all, before I get reamed in the

comment section, forgive me, I don't know if

it's solus or solus. Quantum of solus? I think

it's solus. Sorry, if I butchered it anyways

the Daniel Craig movies I feel are like the perfect

jumping -on point because they were the reboot

for the Bond franchise It starts as with Bond

the casino Royale is bonds first assignment or

one of his first assignments and then Unlike

previous Bond films where they were kind of self

-contained stories that just happened to have

the same actors in the same roles Casino Royale

stops and Quantum of Solace literally picks up

right at the end of that movie and continues

on that story and then that story kind of is

then they kind of moved on to Skyfall which is

amazing now Skyfall continues the thread set

up in the first two movies, but I feel like Spectre

is really gonna wrap up these four movies in

a bow tie. I think they're gonna do things in

Spectre to fix what happened in Quantum of Solace.

Because what they were doing with this new quadrilogy

now was they couldn't use Spectre, but they wanted

Bond to have a villain. Or mi6 to have a villain

and so they I can't I think they called them

quantum Again forgive me guys in the comments.

I haven't seen them all in a couple of years

But they they came up they made a new organization

and they I think they named them quantum and

That kind of went nowhere. Like it just kind

of died. But now they got the rights to use specter

which was a Which was bonds main adversary in

the in the books, I believe Again, not too familiar

with the older bond stuff So but now they have

the chance to play with those guys again My understanding

is that specter was used in like two of the earlier

bond movies. He's like for the He's the inspiration

for Mike Myers like dr. Evil Okay with the cat

and all that stuff. So They're finally able to

bring that back into this new age bond and I

think it's I I think they're really good, but

the exception solace is okay But the rest of

them are are are good in my opinion. So totally

worth checking out if you've got the time So

Yeah, i'm definitely looking forward to it. I

think this is the second I think this is one

of the first times they've had a back -to -back

director like the same director back -to -back

because the only other time I can think of they

had Martin Campbell did GoldenEye and then they

brought him back to do Casino Royale to like

relaunch the series and that was a big deal and

then Sam Mendes did Skyfall and knocked it out

of the park and then they brought him back to

do Spectre which I don't think has ever happened.

So Anyways enough about that. We're not weekend

at the movies or Movie we can review so We can

pretend though. Yeah, we can pretend watch those

comments roll in Who the hell are you guys? Oh

Boy at the risk of meandering around Do you want

to tease an upcoming project we have in the?

Yeah, we can do that. In the pipeline or is there

anything else you want to talk about? Netflix

is getting a revival of Full House. Oh, yeah.

Which is kind of funny to me, because like, you

know, everything that's old is new again. How

do you want that to go? Like, I don't I don't

want them to play like. Grown -up versions of

themselves. Do you know what I mean? Like think

they're gonna try and this is just what I gather

is That they're gonna try and pull like a almost

Modern family Well, I'm wondering if it's gonna

be like kind of a cross between that and kind

of because from what I'm reading It's gonna it's

it's it's gonna be a 13 episode revival of the

show just to kind of See and it's gonna star

DJ and Kimmy In it I'm not sure what the dynamic

is gonna be but they're saying that they they

will have guest appearances from the the dad

and the two uncles Basically, the original series

creator and executive producers will be there

John Stamos is gonna be a producer too, but I

I mean obviously the Olson twins won't be in

it Maybe I mean maybe yeah, they're doing anything

else but But I I don't know I mean like I could

see them kind of pulling a modern family type

thing with it but I could also see them trying

to Trying to almost make the mistake of doing

what they did the first time which wouldn't necessarily

translate nowadays I don't think it would but

then again last man standing is okay well and

so is Girl Meets World Well, I'm not even gonna

touch that one, but I Think it's actually pretty

good, but it's getting better because they keep

adding old cast members But see the things I

just don't I don't know if I want them to like

Feel like I would just like want like a modern

comedy on full house not don't try to recapture.

What was already Already done because I don't

want Do you really want they all one of the Olsen

twins like showing up just and dropping the line

how rude like I? Mean if they're like a natural

evolution I could see keeping it, but I don't

I don't want to see them doing goofy crap like

that That's what I'm talking about like that

That line just for some reason like if they were

to do that it's like nails on a chalkboard to

me thinking about like You know a 20 year old.

Yeah, I don't want to see them use 90s and 80s

dialogue now Because I think that would just

be terrible it would date it so bad It'll be

interesting I mean I like what Netflix is doing

and let's not forget next week next Friday daredevil

That'll be fun. Now, are you looking forward

to Daredevil? I am. I'm indifferent. Well, see,

the thing is they haven't really done anything.

Like, I feel like. I feel like Daredevil is what

I want a Marvel show to be like a TV series to

be. It's a. It's a 13. It's a 12 to 13. I think

it's 13 episodes. It's 13. 60 minute episodes

that were like pre -planned written developed

executed shot and then delivered not 22 episodes

that are 45 minutes that are let's try this idea

and see how it works and if it doesn't go over

very well with the audience we'll change course

and we'll go down a different road like You almost

look at this like it's a and and they've said

this it's like they wrote a treatment for a season

and broke it into 12 episodes like Basically

they made a 12 hour long movie okay and Broke

it up into 12 episodes and that to me that sounds

interesting That's you know you're gonna you're

gonna want to binge watch it. They made it with

the Netflix style binge watching in mind So they

get to tell one story from beginning to end,

not wander all over with your monster of the

week episodes and this, that, and the other thing.

And I don't know, I feel like this is what Marvel

can do when they don't have to work with the

traditional TV guidelines. And yeah, maybe that's

putting a way out there. But then again, Netflix

has a lot. I haven't really been let down by

a Netflix series that I've Watched other than

hemlock grove For whatever reason I couldn't

get into that series I Love house of cards. I

like orange is the new black. I like unbreakable

Kimmy Schmidt And I try I'm watching Trying to

watch the new one bloodlines. I started it but

I started moving so I haven't gone back to finish

it and It's available in 4k. So I'm not I'm not

watching anything that's not my TV. So like I'm

not watching it at work So that makes it go a

little bit slower but I Don't know like I I look

at it as it's Netflix content. So that's gonna

be better than what's on TV We'll see that holds

true, I mean it might not but everything I've

seen looks pretty good But then it comes down

to I think part of it comes down to do you even

care about the character? So which I do not see

that that I think it might be a bigger part of

it then You know, you know what I'm saying? Like

if it was a character you're interested in like

Then I'd probably go out of my way to watch yeah,

like a man like take um, I Don't know just take

any heat take any kind of a character that you

like that's not Batman Give him like a 12 episode

series on Netflix. I'm pretty sure you'd watch

it Just to see you know and have an opinion honestly,

I wish they'd give Deadpool series I I've liked

everything I've seen so far But the only thing

is is it wouldn't be Ryan Reynolds probably unless

you know, what's it? I think I think they could

work having Ryan Reynolds play it. You know,

even if it's a Netflix exclusive, you know what

I I Wouldn't be too sure If you went back Because

we started this podcast Before agents of shield

hit didn't we like at the beginning of agents

of shield? Like it may then think so. I think

we were talking about Who could revive certain

things and I think we Man, I know we thought

I'm pretty sure we we obviously this is old news

that Netflix has dared a Netflix has some Marvel

deal going on but fairly certain that we called

this stuff happening. And I'm fairly certain

one of the things that we said was Punisher could

be a Netflix series. And yeah, I think so. I

think we could see the Punisher, maybe even just

a cameo. But I think we could I think we could

see the Punisher like on a Netflix series. So

but again, that's old stuff. That's like that's

81 episodes ago or 82 episodes ago now. So. It

was yeah, we've got that to look forward to before

the full house through Bible Time will tell how

bad that will be. Oh boy. Will it I Really? Yeah,

I Really hope that that turns out fine All right,

you want to tease our a project that we have

in the pipelines and then yeah we call it Well

You want me to tease it yeah, okay when I was

when I was regularly recording off the cuff we

were having Excuse me behind -the -scenes conversations

about Doing what at the time we called off the

cuff gamers club where we would take a game and

break it up into chunks and Kind of like a book

club you get together and you talk about it on

a weekly basis And I've thought about I've kicked

it around a lot But we never got around to doing

it off the cuff obviously but with I don't even

know if I want to talk about what game we're

planning on doing it with right now, but If that's

something that you guys are interested in hearing

about when we get ready to do it we can we can

tease it a little more let you guys in on it

tell you what it is and how we're gonna break

it up maybe you can play along with us each game

that we would play would probably be broken up

into three or four parts and we'll let you know

what those are ahead of time like play the game

to this point and stop and then like listen to

us talk about it and you can provide your own

comments and have a nice little dialogue about

it, kind of like you would about a book or something

like that. But that's something I wanted to do

with Off the Cuff. And since I'm not really doing

Off the Cuff at the moment, but Steve and I are

looking for ways to shake up Altered Geek Unlimited.

And the first game that we're looking at doing

is a game that we both really like. And it's,

you know. We thought it'd be something to try

here. So if that's something you guys are interested

in hearing about Let us know in the comments

I'm pretty sure we're gonna go ahead and do it

anyways mainly because I want to play I want

to replay the game that we're thinking about

doing for the first gamers club, so I Just needed

a reason so I made one So there So yeah, that's

that's pretty much all I got for for tonight

want to keep it a little little energetic i want

to meander around too much well there there is

one thing that we didn't get to oh what's that

the flash oh man we don't necessarily have to

like spoil the episode but yeah i feel like i

feel like we should hold it because there isn't

going to be a flash episode next week Oh, that's

true. They're taking a week off. So I feel like

if we can hold on to it in our head, our minds,

we can talk about it next week. And maybe we

can ask the viewers. Let's have the viewers have

watched the most recent episode of Flash. Why

don't you share some of your thoughts in the

comments and we will discuss along with your

comments our thoughts on the latest episode next

week. Because I feel like trying to throw it

on at the end right here would do it a disturbance

You're probably right Plus I'll get more reason

to come back because we're gonna talk about the

flash Because the flash is awesome. Yes Especially

that episode. Oh Was it ever? There was so much

greatness and then I Just I couldn't help it.

I I hope he's a returning character. I do too

Was sitting there going and my wife was even

laughing which is making it even nicer I Not

not an original idea for me, but got it from

a guy I follow in Twitter said that if they went

the the Hannibal Lecter route with this that

would be amazing I Could see that actually that's

how they set him up anyways He's he's very creepy

so And he kind of reminds me of the character

he's played elsewhere. Yes. Anyways, we'll get

more in depth into that next week. Yes, yes.

So I think that's it. That's all I got. That's

all I got without long pauses in between finding

stuff to talk about. Yeah, that sounds good,

because then next week we can talk about Arrow

2. Yeah. Have you been watching that I am I haven't

watched the I didn't watch this week's episode

and I can That is borderline trainwreck for me

right now. I do not like what's going on But

that's I think we said that last time we recorded.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure so I'm I'm kind of getting

in the same boat. I haven't watched this week's

either so it should be interesting to see How

that all turns out Oh real quick TV Um, also,

uh, maybe we can just kind of turn next week's

into a tv thing, but um Is anybody watching eye

zombie? I'm asking that I am What do you think

i'm just i'm enjoying it actually, oh it's so

good I like I I mean when I say it's like so

good I wouldn't like put it up there with like

my upper echelon of tv shows, but like it hits

this like sweet spot like It's it's kind of weird

why like I can't explain why I enjoy it But I

do I I kind of explain it to my wife who I cannot

get to watch it because she doesn't like anything

to do with zombies But one I like what they've

done with zombies. I like it and The only way

I can like think to describe it is like it's

sweet. It's like a Like a candy like there's

it's it's like fun. It's And the zombie stuff

touches the surface and doesn't really and it's

in it's jam it down your throat It's all so interesting,

but we can talk about that more next week. So

again, if you if any of our listeners are watching

high zombie along with us Let us know what you

think because we'll talk about that next week,

too That's all that's it that's all I got okay
