a different host entirely. Well, at least to

this podcast. It is the co -founder of the GeekCast

Radio Network. It is TFG1 Mike. Hello, sir. I

have invaded my voices on 90 % of everything

we do. And you're still only on one episode so

far So funny so far. That's the key word right

there What's going on? Well Booth ninja had some

stuff going on so he was not able to make it

last week. We took the week off because of Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving so Again apologize for that not

really There was a plan to do one and then we

decided kind of last minute we were like, it's

Thanksgiving week. Yeah, let's just take the

week off. And plus I was also trying to edit

another podcast that I've neglected for two years.

Oh, that I thought you were going to talk about.

We'll talk about here in a little while. No Which

was the finishing the previous spotlight that

I started? Doing solo which granted. They're

not very good But they weren't meant to be very

long anyhow being that it's just me talking about

it Yeah, it's the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise

I did the first three back in 11 or Something

like that. Yeah Mid -eleven and then I meant

to do Pirates 4 and then it didn't get done and

then I was gonna do it In mid -12 and then I

didn't do it and then I was like, you know, that's

still sitting in the drafts I should probably

get that done. So I The sad part about it is

I actually had all of the files that I needed

To edit it Besides adding my voice to it Wow,

so I had You know 80 % of the content. I just

had to add That last 20 % of me just babbling

for 20 minutes Yeah, so yeah, that's that's out

now Tonight's an entirely different story We

have wrapped up the GeekCast Radio Network's

Top 100 Animated Film Countdown. The wrap up

episode will follow shortly after this one on

release time. Same day anyway. Anyways, I'm going

to do a screen grab when I get done so you can

see the blob mess and I'm going to put it in

the post and say, this is what we do for you.

Skype, we did a two hour call. Skype crapped

out six or seven times. And it wasn't with the

same person. It was with two of the people on

the panel. And I don't know why, just 20 minutes

in was the first issue. And it was recurring

through the rest of the episode. Just to give

people a little bit of perspective, I had had...

amazingly rough day moving furniture out of my

mom's old apartment and I wasn't up to being

on the top 100 wrap up so I was like Steve I

just can't there's no way I can do this tonight

plus I had to take my dog to the vet the next

day so basically and I'm not discounting anyone

here when I say this but basically when I'm not

around shit hits the fan well I'm stuff hits

the fan sorry It's fine. Yeah, but it's Skype

and granted I had my own call recorder going

I did The problem was is there was a delay in

actually running because I had to update the

the call recorder right prior to recording the

episode because The version that I had was no

longer compatible with Skype because it pulled

from the API which that is true. Anything that

doesn't pull from the API, though, is still able

to fully function. So their new version of that

software, which is actually in beta, works fine

with Skype. So I had updated. The problem was

is I had a second installer running in the background

and didn't know it. So it recorded the first

hour and 45 minutes. So my audio disappears after

that. So there's 15, 20 minutes of audio of mine

that is just not there. Luckily, one of the other

guys that records because we did local records,

thank God for that, which is again why there's

so much butchering of the audio. Again, podcast

background information that is probably too much

for some people and interesting for others. He

had a stereo track so his audio was on one side

and everybody else is on the other so now I am

in the process before recording this of Trying

to narrow it down and figure out where the heck

it's at so that I can splice it back in and I

think there's some cutouts at some point throughout

it so It's yeah, it's not been fun Basically

what he's trying to say, people, is we put a

lot of time and effort into you getting your

free content. Sometimes it's a pain, sometimes

it's not. I give kudos to Mike Powers, who is

on Off the Cuff and on Altered Geek most of the

time. He synchronized and cleaned up. I'd say

a good 80 % of the top 100 before I went in and

added the extra clips after the fact. So I have

to give major kudos to him for digging through

the mess that some of it was at points. So now

that that's over, there's a little teaser. There's

going to be a top 100 again. 2014, I'm not going

to tell what it is because we want plenty of

time to gather the people that will be involved

and promote it and get all that stuff in line

before we actually let anybody know. So yeah,

there's that. Also year five stuff in the background.

So we will start teasing little images of Year

5 starting this coming Monday. And it will display

every other week on a Monday, there will be a

new image teasing the Year 5 website. Mind you,

I'm still working on some of it, but it's pretty

much... The images that are taken are actually

going to be into effect in the end the actual

launch in June of 14 for the year five So be

ready for that So Getting into that now We're

gonna be moving over to some media news since

over the last two weeks have been quite a bit

of New stuff that have popped up some things

that I had pulled up throughout the week and

some things that are a little bit new, mostly

with DC. Surprise, surprise. It's us and it's

DC. I mean, come on. It's like, that's all they

ever do is DC. Sad but true. Hey, we like what

we like. I I mentioned it before I'm a huge Batman

fan, so There's that So jumping right in we have

our announcement of who is playing Wonder Woman

Which is Gal Gadot Who I've never heard of previously

to this I didn't know that she was in Fast and

the Air Furious 4, 5, 6. I think she was just

in 6. I checked her IMDB earlier today. She's

in 4, 5, and 6. Oh, I know who she is. Granted,

I've never seen any of those after the second

one. But I had no idea who she was, which I don't

necessarily have a problem with it. But I think

the chick from Thor would have fit the part just

as well. But being that Queen Hamidala knew from.

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. From Thor. Yeah. No, not her.

There was another there was another girl on there.

She was an Asgardian. I can't remember her name.

We mentioned in a couple of episodes back. But.

Yeah, I was kind of. Little bit surprised that

they decided that Wonder Woman is going to be

in Batman vs. Superman which Hence the name of

this episode and the art I've decided to call

it what it is which is Justice League I Think

that they're playing a major fake out. I Think

that it's going to be a Justice League movie

Even if even if they decide to call it something

where it's it's Dark Knight or in Superman or

Batman Superman, it's it's if nothing else, it's

going to be like in essence a world's finest.

Yeah, because Luthor is going to be in it. They're

already saying that now that they have Wonder

Woman in it, there's rumors that or Ben rumors

that the Arrow universe is going to cross over.

There's things floating around now that. Barry

Allen from Arrow will be making a cameo. I Meant

to watch that episode this week where he's introduced

and I completely forgot to do so I'll have to

do so online I know next week Supposedly, we're

gonna see some flashy stuff. So well and also

in addition to that they're Hinting at another

Batman villain that's gonna show up, which is

the clock king. I Don't I Don't get me wrong,

and this is a tangent from the Justice League,

but I was going to cover it anyhow. But I love

Arrow, especially in season two. And I'm glad

that they're finally going to give him his his

actual face mask in the midseason finale. And

they've got Barry Allen going to be the Flash

and they've got, you know, the the Black Canary

and a lot of these other people showing up. But.

I... I just... I don't know how that series is

going to work very well. What, Arrow? Yeah, it's...

I mean, it's almost like they're trying to turn

it into a Justice League and they're making Arrow

basically Batman because he's fighting the League

of Assassins. They've already mentioned Ra's

al Ghul. They've already... They're gonna have

the Clock King. You're getting a bunch of Batman

rogue gallery people, because they can't bring

Batman on TV. Oh, Clock King and Arrow! I thought

you meant... No, he's not going to be in Batman

and Superman. That would be stupid. I was going

to say, wait a second, why is the Clock King

going to be in Batman versus Superman? This is

it, Batman. We will tell what time you will fall.

Batman would just send a drone after him. Squish.

They got to do something with these these villains

they got it. I don't know I I Don't remember

have they actually shown race in arrow. Yeah,

they haven't shown him, but they've talked about

okay. That's good. They've made a link Right.

They've named him, but they've never actually

shown him so This is what I'm thinking if they

don't ever show him Arrow can go up against the

League of Assassins all he wants. The League

of Assassins, unless you're fighting Ra's Al

Ghul, at least to me, is a DC Universe villain.

Okay, yes, they are majority of Batman's rogues

gallery, but they are a DC Universe wide -spanning

rogue versus anyone. Unless it's race versus

somebody so as long as race doesn't actually

physically show up. I'm fine Well, I don't care

if all he wants to go toe -to -toe with the League

of Assassins all the time I think that that would

actually work better if they don't have him go

against race just I guess the assassins because

also They can use it in essence like how shield

is represented In between they fight, you know,

and then in the big leagues then you have race

kind of in there I don't know maybe have the

giant battle that was mentioned and out of the

past of Batman Beyond with race and Talia against

Batman Yeah Arrow I'm liking it. I was kind of

shocked with what they did with Black Canary.

That's interesting who she Really is yeah, it's

strange It's it's strange, but it's it's something

I didn't expect like okay. She's dead She's not

coming back You know and that's not at all what

happened what I find with arrow season 1 and

season 2 is it consistently left me with Holy

crap, what are they gonna do now? I'm not saying

season one is, oh my god, the best show ever,

but it was fairly solid, and it paid off most

everything, and it went out with a bang for season

one, and season two has been solid so far. As

far as all this Batman Superman news, just show

me the dang trailer, or a teaser, or something.

Like, I can't make... You know this. Most of

the Altered Geek audience probably doesn't know

this, but you know this, and most of our other

listeners on the Geekcast Radio Network know

this. I'm one of those people that rush to judgment

fairly quick on anything, regardless of what

it is. Yet, lately I find myself holding off

on a lot of stuff, waiting to see what is actually

gonna happen. Like, there was news about some

other superhero film stuff happening, which I'm

sure we'll talk about here in a minute, but...

I posted on Facebook and somebody's like, oh

great now they're gonna ruin my favorite story.

They ruined all the other films Yeah, I'm I'm

just gonna hold off my opinion on the Batman

Superman because again, I think that it's going

to turn into Justice League I don't think I don't

think that there I think that they're playing

the misdirection card. I think it's gonna be

I I'm almost positive it's gonna be a Justice

League film because the way they're trying to

play coy and introduce people into this Mm -hmm.

It's just it it doesn't make sense to me Phil

Morris for John Jones Phil Morris played him

in Smallville several times And he's also the

voice of Vandal Savage from Justice League With

Batman, Superman, why do they have to do this

right now? Why does, okay, I know it's not right

now, it's technically two years from now, but

why can't you give the Man of Steel sequel a

proper sequel? Man of Steel 2, Man of Steel whatever.

As bad as I hate to say this I know I'm gonna

sound like a hypocrite because I really hate

the the real estate plans from Lex Luthor, but

why not just have Man of Steel 2 be show us Clark

dealing with the fact that he killed Zod and

what kind of effect it has on him going forward

and Then just have Lex do a real estate scheme

Simple for all Batman Superman. No, I know I

know but I'm just saying that It would be so

simple. The way that they're talking about this

film now, I kind of agree with you. It's probably

going to end up being Justice League or Justice

League Light leading up to an actual real Justice

League movie. Let me ask you this. We know the

mistakes that Marvel made with Spider -Man 3.

Too many villains. Too much going on. They're

going to do that again in Spider -Man 2 or Amazing

Spider -Man 2. We'll get to that. Yeah. Oh My

question is do you think with putting too many

heroes into Batman Superman? Are they going to

have the same? Crapstorm that spider -man 3 as

I Am not quite sure I I think they're they're

treading really thin ice at this point Cuz you

gotta think about it this way if this casting

is is correct and of course we've seen I don't

know I don't even know if we've seen like official

It's been reported. It's on her IMDB. It's it's

everywhere. So I guess it is official that she

is going to be Wonder Woman But are they gonna

go in the direction of a friggin love train triangle?

They better not I Guarantee you that's what it's

gonna be it's gonna be Superman Wonder Woman

Lois Lane It's gonna be some sort of love triangle

between the three of them I Don't know I'm still

open -minded like I said until I see something

Not even I don't even mean production stills

I don't even mean a poster until I see an actual

trailer for whatever this Sequel is gonna be

or whatever this new DC big -budget film is gonna

be I'm holding off complete judgment on it because

I want to see what they're gonna do but I like

a lot of people, I'm kind of, oh my god, what

are they going to do? You know? I'm really wary

at this point. And then I've also been paying

attention to the fact that in addition, also

in the same basic news, there is a rumor of doomsday

surfacing in the film. So you've got Lex Luthor

and Doomsday If they're gonna play Lex Luthor

as like the low end like he's just gonna be there

as like background Yeah to begin with I can see

that working out as like a brief introduction

But they've already mentioned that they're going

to probably have a Dick Grayson type character

in there of some kind of a Robin They're already

confirming that Wonder Woman's in it, whether

she's in the costume or not. They're confirming

that that Barry Allen is going to be in it. You've

obviously got Batman and Superman, since that's

what the big hoopla is about. Lex Luthor rumors

going to be there. And then they're rumoring

that Doomsday is going to be in there. There's

either a lot of misdirection or the fact that.

They're actually turning this into Justice League

and just don't want people to know Yeah, and

it's it's kind of funny to me that they're they're

trying to play coy with it But it's it's like

if you really want it to be tight -lipped Don't

let it get out Yeah, you should have never lied

about Khan Yeah, we'll get to that later Down

your list here is a link to the The info on Batman's

costume in Batmobile. I'm looking at this picture

of the Batmobile Oh my god, if this is what they

use that is gonna be amazing. I can get behind

that and Just so you know everybody these are

all in the show notes This Batmobile granted

I'm in favor of the the Tumblr no, I'm not in

favor of the tumblr. That's powers it like said

I don't Okay as much I like it for its functionality.

I don't like it for its looks I Like the BTAS

vehicle so with them saying that they're gonna

use a Cadillac I'm in favor of how the Cadillac

would look however that being said I Really like

this design. It's like a nice mesh between the

89 mm -hmm the tumbler and Somewhat the animated

series Yeah, not it's in it not the original

animated series, but the new adventures So I

mean it is that mobile I could actually I would

get it I would get behind it fully I would be

fine with it. I Just hope that they're As much

as I liked it afterwards After I initially saw

it. I just hope this one doesn't have someplace

where it can open up in a bat pod pops out I

don't with looking at this design. I don't think

they could fit that in I don't know though But

yeah this design it Has remnants of all of the

Batmobiles The only thing it's missing is a giant

red light in between the two passenger seats

For referencing the 66 Batmobile and the bat

costume that's linked there. I mean this article

is like a month old They were talking about the

Batman Noelle, but it's already been kind of

leaked that they're gonna pretty much go with

the new 52 look. Which I'm 100 % in favor of

because I love that look. I'm fine with the new

52 look. That's fine. I don't mind that at all.

So, switching off that soapbox. And again, the

spoilers, like I said before, they're going to

have Barry Allen and all those different characters

in there. But this whole movie is getting to

the extent of a Transformers film with news and

rumors. Yeah, it really is. So I think we're

gonna put this one to bed unless there's some

kind of another casting Because I really don't

want to talk about it again until there's a casting

or some kind of concrete information Like I'm

gonna stay away from the rumors and spoilers

from now on So jumping ship over to The Warner

Brothers is planning two low -budget DC superhero

movies a year Your thoughts sir When they say

too low -budget superhero movies what exactly

do they mean by that? Because it's like It just

makes no sense to me that they would do this

I Don't have a clue I I'm assuming that they're

talking about like a suicide squad or Stuff like

that maybe Well, I'm looking at the article here

now One of the like you said one of the titles

mentioned a suicide squad movies that would cost

in the 40 million dollar range Other rumored

properties include Booster Gold, Deathstroke,

Team 7 and the Joseph Gordon Levitt Sandman movie.

I think it's great that they're gonna bring some

of these lesser -known characters to the big

screen, but I don't know. I just don't know.

And of course my other reaction is... And I know

why this won't happen because he has to appear

in a Batman movie first, but where's the Nightwing

movie dammit? Yeah, I Know I get what you're

saying It is so funny cuz I was on I was on Facebook

this afternoon or this evening or whatever the

heck and Several of the fan pages that I follow

posted a Nightwing fan teaser, Nightwing Rises

2014. It's a blue and black -suited Nightwing

with the S -crystics. And it's the Nightwing

logo as the fire rises instead of the Batman

logo. Nice. You know, it's just one of those

things. I understand why there isn't going to

be a Nightwing movie on his own unless he appears

in a Batman movie. I get that. but it's like

oh god and i really think like i think hollywood

is is overloading 2015 oh i definitely agree

with you 2015 it's gonna be so much it's gonna

be so nuts it's x -men batman batman superman

i'm sorry uh you know star wars supposedly the

Bourne fifth Bourne movie is coming in 2015 now

I don't get I don't get why is 2015 I don't I

don't know I just don't know why can't they move

some of this stuff I think I think they're setting

it up for a huge year and that's when pretty

much primarily every movie is coming out I know

they've moved Pirates from 2015 to 2016. Star

Trek is going to be in 2016. Star Wars is possibly

going to be in 2016. They want it for 2015 though.

Yeah, Batman vs Superman. I saw on Facebook a

couple weeks ago someone say December 18th is

the day. And that was from a huge Star Wars fan

and I commented I said episode 7? I said yep.

I was like oh okay. but yeah I don't know man

it's like okay sure next year we've got Amazing

Spider -man 2 I think Captain America 2 I mean

we've got a whole bunch of stuff coming next

year but it doesn't it seems like everybody is

focused on what is happening in 22 years from

now or a year you know it 2013 is almost over

so a year from now more so than what's actually

coming up in this very next year Yeah, and I

think it's somewhat unfortunate, but I think

it's also Just they're stacking the deck for

that year and it's either gonna it's regardless.

It's gonna be a huge year for franchise films

Yeah, which Could be a good thing and it could

be a bad thing because you have such a saturated

market with it. I think it could hurt them, but

and there could be some unknown movies that come

out and just stop them because of the fact that.

It's you pretty much know what you're getting

when it's a sequel. Yeah, so, but again, that's

neither here nor there. But they've. jumping

off of the 2015 Tangent 2. Did you see the news

about Jurassic World? It's gonna take place in

real time after the original. Yeah. It's supposed

to pick up years after and whatnot, but... 22

years after the events of Jurassic Park. Oh So

they're basically pulling a tron. Yeah Yeah,

no, I I mean I'm I'm My opinion of it is I don't

think there's a need for it, but again Franchise

movies are big now. So I Saw the first one. That's

the only one I needed to see really to realize

by the time the, what when the first one came

out? 90, 91. I don't remember off the top of

my head. When Jurassic Park came out, I saw it.

I was like, yay, dinosaurs at 10 years old. By

the time The Lost World and then Jurassic 3 came

out, I was so far out of my love for dinosaurs

that I could give a crap less. And now after

all this time, they're making a fourth one. It

doesn't interest me I I don't you know hate the

whole idea or anything like that, but it just

it's not something I would pay attention to Yeah,

I I don't really care no So yeah, and then of

course the Bourne movie that's coming out in

2015 yeah, which again we've touched on that

that's I think we'll get into some Marvel stuff

since we've been gushing on DC. Actually, prior

to this record they had news about a follow -up

to Days of Future's Past, which is going to be...

It's gonna be apocalypse. Yep Yeah, Bryan Singer

revealed it the name of the next one And this

is my problem with a lot of this this Newt the

way news is now because we have Facebook and

Twitter and all this stuff the first film As

far as again, I'm just thinking off top my head

Days of Future's Past is only in pre -production

or it might be in filming. I don't know. It hasn't

even been released yet. So why even leak the

name of the next film when we haven't even seen

the first new X -Men film that Bryan Singer is

doing? I just don't get that. If you want people

to be excited about the film you're currently

doing, don't tease us with stuff that you're

going to be doing four years down the line. or

however long it'll be for apocalypse. Yeah, I'm

interested to see what they do. I am too. It's

just the news thing, dude. This is why a lot

of the times I shy away from news shows. And

I know Altergeek is not just a news show. I know

you guys talk about the news, but a lot of these

news stories with stories like this. or stories

like and you know this from doing it from doing

all these transformers stories like transformers

for filming in phoenix arizona desert that's

not a news story it's a film location who cares

yeah no i mean i i agree but i mean you see my

point about why are you gonna tease the next

one when we haven't even had time to get excited

for the one we haven't even seen yet Should we

talk about the fact that the original Hulk is

saying that Disney is planning a Mark Ruffalo

Hulk movie after Avengers 2? I was going to say

X -Men Days of Future Past comes out in 2014.

That's actually going to be, I think it'll be

pretty good. It just remains to be seen how long

Hugh Jackman decides to be Wolverine. I know

he's going to be Wolverine again in a sequel

to The Wolverine. And he's in the days of futures

past which I guess those two were even like pulling

teeth to kind of get him to do I think he's getting

to that point where he's kind of done which I

think he's the longest running In a comic book

movie playing a character At this yeah Yeah Because

he was even a cameo in in the first class in

first class and then It they'll probably have

him an apocalypse more than likely. It's kind

of hard to sell an X -Men movie without Wolverine.

Well, without Hugh Jackman playing him. Well,

yeah, he is Wolverine. I mean, yeah, ever since

2000. You know, people can say what they want

to say about the original X -Men trilogy, even

the third X -Men. Wolverine made those movies.

The two biggest moments for Wolverine in X -Men

1 was when he gave... Cyclops the finger with

his claw and When he said the line about the

blue and yellow spandex referencing the Original

costumes, which they actually make debut in the

Wolverine special clip Which I found to be I

haven't had a chance to grab that yet So I'll

have to I'll have to look into because I've seen

the images. It's in like a case Show it is like

a like an after credits kind of thing but Yeah,

so and then you know, of course 2015's apparently

also going to have a Fantastic Four movie Which

I don't care about them anymore Let's talk the

Hulk Yeah, you know, let's let's talk the Hulk

and the original TV Hulk saying that Disney is

gonna plan a Mark Ruffalo Hulk movie after Avengers

2 I think Ruffalo can can carry it. I mean he's

carried it He carried it in Avengers, and I'm

sure he'll carry it in Avengers 2. Out of all

three people that have played Hulk, Eric Bana,

Edward Norton, and Ruffalo, Ruffalo's done the

best job out of playing the two characters, and

more so the banner character than the actual

Hulk. At least in my opinion, he's been the best

one. I wonder what Lou Ferrignos... role is going

to be in. Because they face matched Ruffalo for

Avengers. That wasn't Ferrigno. No, but they

used Ferrigno's build. Right, they used his build,

but the actual... Like in the Incredible Hulk

and in the Hulk 2003, I believe they used Ferrigno's

face. Yeah, they did. Right. But they even used

they used part of Ferrigno for like the the grunts

and all that kind of stuff for the Hulk. But

for the actual like sentence that he spoke in

the film, they used Ruffalo. Yeah. Which I'm

pretty sure they'll use Ferrigno for, you know,

again, the body build and yeah, and everything

else. But they motion capture Ruffalo anyway.

And yeah, they'll probably Use combination of

them for voicing. So No, I mean I'm down with

it. I liked The Hulk as far as how he was portrayed

in Avengers, so I definitely have no problem

with it And the amazing spider -man 2 trailer

debuted yep, I gotta say even though I like the

first three Raimi films and I I Used to like

Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker and spider -man

Garfield just does it better. I yeah Garfield

the cat um I like this ultimate universe version.

Yeah, I'm much better than the the other one

which It's like six four six or something else

six one six one six. I don't know there It's

it who calls it that I mean, that's such a weird

name a lot of people call it the six one six

I want somebody to explain why it's called that

Because I have no idea why it's called that and

it drives me nuts because I mean I understand

that they're two different universes That's that's

fine. I it's kind of like her In DC they have

earth to and then they have you know the regular

universe Yeah, so I mean I get it, but I just

don't understand where the significance of 616

comes in So yeah, if anybody wants to comment

on that let me know that that'd be great and

then I can read it the next episode But no, I

love the fact that they're leading up to the

fact that they're gonna have the sinister six

Even if it's not the original sinister six Because

on the apparently on the computer screen people

have zoomed in enough to see that Venom is mentioned

like there's a venom storage Compartment so it

leads you to think that venoms in one of those

compartments There's an exoskeleton which you

know that would be You know, dr. Octopus kind

of thing or maybe the Rhino Yeah, they of course

show the picture of vultures stuff and doc ox

Back yeah back legs and all that kind of stuff.

Yes, you've got Yeah, his back legs But uh, but

he's a tadpole people I think amazing spider

-man can either be really great because of the

setup in it, or it could be really bad. And when

I say it could be really bad, I think that in

that, it could be almost relative to Iron Man

2, X -Men 3, and Spider -Man 3. If in comparison

to how bad it could be. Could be. I'm not saying

it's going to be that way. And the other reason

I say that is because they're going to have three

villains in this film. They're going to have...

But we've only really seen Electro. We've seen

glimpses of Doc Ock and Vulture. No, I'm saying

like the glimpses of that. They're going to have

Electro, Rhino, and Harry Osborn as the Green

Goblin. All in this film. Okay, so and they're

probably set up for the third film and the others

are set up for the third film. Yeah, so It's

kind of touchy ground there because we saw how

well Spider -Man 3 of the original trilogy did

with having venom The the new Green Goblin kind

of thing and then the Sandman Not that I didn't

like the portrayals or anything, but I think

it was done very poorly. Anytime you introduce,

I think Nolan's really the only one that's gotten

it right in a superhero film. Having like the

Falconis, the Joker and having Two -Face. Or

having Scarecrow show up at points in films and

having Bane and having Talia. I mean, how it

was done in those worked extremely well. And

I'm not just doing it because I'm a fan of DC.

I'm just saying it was written really well. Yes,

you are. Well, no, it's written really well.

They actually had a purpose, whereas it's almost

seeming like these are going to be there for

just a beat -em -up. I'm off my soapbox. I don't

know. You know, I saw the trailer, it looks cool,

it looks interesting, it looks really great.

I like the fact that Gwen Stacy knows the damn

secret. Because there's a part in the trailer

where he's like... yeah i got stuck in a traffic

jam and she's like did that have anything to

do with rocket launchers or grenades or explosions

she goes he goes yeah i was trying not to say

it and she goes i know so it's like i like that

she knows and that's another thing it's like

the whole thing with the superhero secret identity

sure the world doesn't need to know who batman

is or spider -man or whatever else but his you

know most trusted people should know who he is.

And that's one of the things I really dislike

about superhero movies is when they consistently

try to keep the secret a secret from even the

Aunt Harriet's of the film. It just makes no

sense to me. What else we got going on for news?

Well, I saw this clip and it was posted as of

November 26th, so it's not quite fresh like the

rest of it, but the Walt Disney voices Mickey

in new animated short. I thought that that was

kind of cool that they showed it at the beginning

of the new movie, Frozen, which I think it's

actually really cool that they did this, having

Walt Disney himself reprising his own role even

though he's not able to. They took actual clips

of Walt Disney voicing Mickey Mouse and spliced

the words together and wrote a script around

it and then they have enough animators that know

how to animate in that style To actually do it

which to me that is amazing Yeah Yeah, it really

is yeah Yeah, I want to see frozen but I don't

want to see it badly enough to go to the theater

and see it I want to see it, but I don't have

the time to go. I think I'm going to jump into

some Star Trek news. The Star Trek Renegades

official teaser trailer debuted after we did

the last episode. And it's actually kind of cool.

Yeah, it did look pretty cool. They have Walter

Koning playing Admiral Chekhov again. They have

Tim Russ playing Tuvok again, which are obviously

characters from the original series and from

Voyager. Then you have Admiral Paris from Voyager

and then a bunch of created characters. It's

like a ragtag group and everything The link to

this will also be in the show notes It's supposed

to be taking place after Like I think like a

decade after Voyager So it's still in the original

continuity I don't know how they explain how

Chuck off survived to the 24th century but it

seems like a lot of the original series people

do so the only ones that are not accounted for

in the 24th century are Sulu and Uhura at this

point but that aside the captain of the renegade

ship is actually Khan's daughter oh my god so

you have like a super soldier type female captain

for the the the ship so it's actually gonna be

real interesting how this plays out it's funny

I guess I forget which it was probably sci -fi

or FX or one of them networks they were running

generations again I'm sitting here at the computer

working away. My mom's in the other room in her

bedroom She's like Scottie got old and what the

hell is whoopi Goldberg doing in Star Trek? I

was like you do know that's not the series. That's

one of the films, right? So funny cuz she my

mom grew up on the original series. She she loves

those characters and Yeah She's like I don't

like that Scotty got old would you expect him

to do Yeah, I I Love the film so it's it's yeah

those things and I grew up on all of them. So

I I love it all but I want to see that about

sums up the the main news should I go on my rant

before we get to the feedback yeah just a second

we were going to cover video games in this episode

but since powers is not on this episode we're

gonna save it I will talk briefly and I mean

very briefly I just got Arkham Origins which

to piggyback on the Black Friday thing that we'll

talk about in the feedback area later. I didn't

go out and buy it. I didn't want to have to fight

for it. I did want to get it on sale, though.

I checked the Internet for Best Buy online Thanksgiving

morning before I went out and I saw it online

for $29 .99 on sale and I thought I was dreaming

to begin with. And it appeared after that that

$25 or more gets free shipping. I had it shipped

to work. I had it Monday morning. Which was amazing

to me because you have Friday and then Saturday

shipping, you know, where you won't actually

receive it on a Saturday, but I had it by Monday

at my job. So I was able to play a little bit

of it Monday night. I have some things I like

and some pet peeves with it and I played a little

bit more of it last night but if I can get these

records edited quick enough then I'll be playing

it again but who knows. But yeah, I have issues

and I have things I like so I'll talk about that

next week. Under your soapbox Okay This Christmas

season I'm basically saying bah humbug to it

all We go from Halloween To Christmas Thanksgiving

this year was the forgotten holiday All I ever

saw from October 30th to November 29th was Black

Friday this, Black Friday that, get your Christmas

shopping done, get your Christmas shopping done,

go out and buy a tree, go buy a wreath, go buy

decorations, go buy this, go buy that. Does the

media, the advertising media not know how to

market Thanksgiving? I mean, it's like... I don't

know, it's just... Christmas isn't even here.

We're only the first week and a half into December,

and I feel like Christmas has already gone by.

I felt like Christmas was November 28th this

year. Honestly, I really did. Because it just...

seems like everything. Um... I'm not ashamed

to admit this because they do have some pretty

decent movies on there. I've been watching Hallmark

Channel Christmas movies. I don't care what anybody

thinks about that. I've been watching them. Actually,

I've been DVR -ing them so I can watch them closer

to Christmas. Hallmark Channel had this thing

this year called Countdown to Christmas. Started

in November. And then... Three of my local rad

- Well, actually two of my local radio stations

first started playing Christmas music during

Thanksgiving. A third one jumped in, and now

it's back to the two still playing Chri - I don't

get this. Christmas isn't in November people,

it's December. For me personally, and maybe this

is just me being the cynic that I am, for me

Christmas is December 1st to December 26th. End

of story. That's it. I know a lot of people have

traditions of putting a tree up like the day

after Thanksgiving or Thanksgiving night or some

people may have their tree up the day before

Thanksgiving. I just can't do that. I just can't.

I don't get this whole rush to get to Christmas.

I don't get it. Anybody else have any... Any

early Christmas traditions before Thanksgiving's

even over? Let me know. Yeah, I uh... When it's

getting close to Christmas time, I hate hearing

everything about Christmas after Halloween through

Thanksgiving. The day after Thanksgiving, it's

free game to me. Like it's yeah, no, I and I

and I and I get that and that's fine and I understand

that but I'm talking about all this stuff was

happening from November 1st to November 27th

before Thanksgiving even happened so That's what

I'm complaining about. Yes. I agree with you.

Oh, no, that's what I was basically agreeing

with you and saying it's it's annoying but and

I'm not trying to be bah humbuggy, but it's Just

kind of How it goes. Yeah, pretty much. So we

will jump into the feedback now. The last episode

that we had, which was before Thanksgiving, we

asked the question, what are your Black Friday

traditions and strategies? Do you have any before

we get into the feedback? No. Whether it be buying

crap online. Probably. But no, not really. I

will say I did go out on Black Friday, but it

was only to get comics at my local comic shop

since they were having 20 % off everything. They're

in sale! Hercules! Hercules! Yeah. But no, Black

Friday to... Black Friday, Cyber Monday, all

that stuff, I just don't care. Yeah, I this year

because I have a A year and a month old son,

I just I don't have time to go out and do that

Did we go out to Toys R Us and spend money? Yes

Did you go at 5 a .m. No When I was younger would

I have yes, yes, but um, we went at Thanksgiving

Day to Toys R Us and picked up a few things mostly

a car seat which was like 50 bucks off and a

couple other gifts for him for christmas but

when we drove past the best buy that's close

by there it was wrapped around the building people

waiting to get in for the six o 'clock to go

buy the stuff and i'm thinking haha it just bought

my game on sale online and i don't have to wait

for it i mean i have to wait You know, a couple

days, which whoop -de -doo, I didn't have to

wait through a stampede of people, you know,

like stuff coming out of Jumanji freaking attacking

you. It's all coming for the game. Yeah. So,

that's a movie I never want to see again. Like

Jumanji I liked it, but I've seen it so many

times I can't stand it But yeah, so getting into

the the listener feedback Connor Murphy says

why would you shop on Black Friday for Christmas?

Isn't that Santa's job? Yeah, very good point

He says I knock out all my shopping on Black

Friday, I had my list set to go a plan of action

what stories to hit first and when, even have

written in times for bathroom breaks. Seriously,

this stuff is not for the novice. In the end,

I end up getting more for myself than anyone

else. But hey, I got to love me first, right?

That is such a good idea. We used to have lists

and plan of action and what stores to hit at

what time and everything back in the day, but

we don't do that anymore. But yeah, that's definitely

the way to go. The bathroom break thing is kind

of genius and figuring all that out. So good

job there. Jared Kessler says I have my list

all set for Fridays or for the Black Friday.

I'm one of those crazy People that darts for

the electronics aisle right when the store opens.

It's often the only exercise I get all year got

to make it last That's awesome Gaming for the

win I guess or buying electronics Dragono says,

I have one rule and one rule only, stay away

from Walmart. I don't mind Walmart. It's just

one of those things that when you go to Walmart

or go to like Meyer or some other store like

that, one of the main merchandise retail chains

that have grocery, if they're 24 hour, It's a

lot easier to get the stuff because you can wait

in line and they give you a voucher kind of thing.

If they're one of those stories that closes and

then opens up at that magical time, you might

as well not go because you can almost guarantee

people are going to stomp you to get in. Now,

if they're already open after the fact, like

if you wait until after they've opened and the

stampede is rushed in, you're pretty much going

to be able to go in there and get what you want

if it's still available without having to be

barreled over. Yeah, but yeah, that's that's

a good rule. You know can't forget the people

of Walmart Danner says My black Friday tradition

is simple wake up at 6 a .m. Jump on Amazon and

play video games until the lightning deals. I

want pop up This year, however, I will be going

to Brown Wednesday at my comic store 25 % off

all comics for subscribers and on Black Friday

They have a sweet deal on settlers of Catan that

I might have to take advantage of Why do they

get it why why do they have to give it names

like with colors Black Friday like it's already

bad enough. It's got that name They tried calling

it Brown Thursday. It's Thanksgiving. Just call

it That's my point about my rant. It's like nobody

recognizes what the true meaning of Thanksgiving

is. It's like spend time with your family. And

I mean, I'm guilty of going out and shopping

on the same day. If it weren't for the fact that

we needed the stuff that we went for, like we

actually needed it because like the car seat.

Yeah. The kids outgrowing the little baby one

that he's got, he needs like a regular one that's

going to convert to later. So saving the 50 bucks

is worth it on that end. The extra crap we grabbed

in addition to it, that was just because we were

in a line wrapped around in the inside of the

store, which was stupid. But suffice it to say,

in and out 20 minutes, so still it worked. But

we had already hung out with our family. The

unfortunate part is there are a lot of people

that are working on that day because people do

what I did. so they don't get to spend time with

their family. So it's kind of a double -edged

sword on that. I think that holidays places should

be closed. I think it should be mandatory, but

that's just me. See, and that's the other thing,

and actually SuperFilmFan98 kind of gets to this

in his feedback in a minute, but that's the other

thing. That's what I'm talking about with my

rant is that the marketing, the stores, everything

had two day pre -Black Friday sales before you

even get to the actual Black Friday sale. That

makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever. The

only thing that should be open on Thanksgiving

is gas stations, a couple of Denny's, and the

movie theaters. That's it. And buffets. Well

that's what I mean by Restaurant, you know restaurants.

already, but I thought it was in reference to

it's regarding the sales Don't have any traditions

for Black Friday depends on the day of the year

this year I might hit up a few stores, but I

don't see myself waking up before dawn to stand

in line I'm just too old for that shit anymore.

I Am right there with you brother I Just I don't

care and and the people that stand out in line

You know yay for them, but I just can't see waiting

for stuff. I don't actually need One of our cohorts

who will be making a return to the geek cast

radio network in 2014 Michael Wilson he and his

wife I don't know if he and his wife did it this

year But the last two years that I've known him

or so I've known him longer than two years, but

the last two years They pretty much go out at

like 2 a .m. And wait at the stores. Oh Boy,

yeah, we we used to do that kind of stuff. We

used to go out and I actually used to go in the

store at night, stockpile the stuff that I wanted

that was actually out in the open that they didn't

have taped over with bags. And I'd just hide

it in the furniture aisle inside desk drawers

and dresser drawers because nobody looks. And

then I'd go pick it up later in the morning when

I'd go back for the sales. Sad but true. I'm

pretty sure this is Plato's Lament under the

new name of Epicureus of Sidium, but I'm not

sure. I'm pretty sure it is. I just was having

a hard time saying it, so I found it easier to

say Plato's Lament. Black Friday, dear God, I

stay away as far as possible. Too many trampled

to death stories for my liking. I think the number

was only eight this year, which that's still

terrible getting trampled to death over crap

And then like 80 or 90 some injuries. That's

just that's just ridiculous I'm sorry, but I

don't need something bad enough that I'm gonna

run somebody over Yeah, no, I I would just yeah,

that's if you can't be humane to people at least

when you're trying to get these deals You're

just a terrible person. I'm sorry Now if they

steal it out of your cart, then it deserves a

throwdown. Walking Dread says, don't have a specific

Black Friday tradition, but this year we are

going all out. I am starting off at my local

comic book store. It's having amazing deals on

graphic novels and back issues. I have a list

ready to go in hopes of picking up what I need

the most. This might sound selfish, but I tend

to use Black Friday as more of a chance to buy

stuff for myself rather than other people. Unless

it's some big ticket item my family's all getting

together with. Eh, I kinda used it for the same

purpose. I went and bought my game. That was

it. Caleb Browning says, my friends and I tend

to hit up Best Buy. I'm sorry. I have even got

paid to stand in line for people and pick things

up for them. Most people spend money. I make

it on that day. Taking advantage of other people's

laziness pays off. Now, if somebody is paying

me to go online and do that stuff, it would depend

on what it's for and how long I had to wait and

how much they were paying me, but I would be

tended to do it. Oh yeah. But I used to stand

in line. for people that I know that back when

the Nintendo Wii's were brand new and it was

a hot thing and they were hard to get, they had

the shipping schedule down for every store in

the area that sold the Nintendo Wii. So they

knew what time the truck came in with the shipment.

And if I wasn't working and my wife wasn't working,

we were waiting in line and we'd make a little

bit of extra side cash to go stand in line and

collect an extra one for them to sell on eBay.

Very awesome. They sold the shit down on eBay

So yeah, I can I can relate to that Freddy Savage

says I find it harder and harder to keep with

back Black Friday traditions, especially with

stores opening on Thursday now, it's almost pointless.

I Definitely agree there It's like the one -day

sale spread for four Yeah It's famous in the

car world. Yeah, we're gonna have this three

day or two day sale all month long Yeah, or furniture

the best sale of the year one day only every

weekend Yeah, so pretty much yeah, I it's kind

of lost its luster and I think this year I really

do. I think the deals were not as big a deals

as they have been in the last five years. I think

everything was kind of I don't think they discounted

things as much. And I think that it was kind

of a like haphazard list. And I don't think I

could be wrong, but I don't think that the sales

were as massive this year as they have been in

the past. Yeah, no, I don't think so either I

mean there was nothing really that great that

I noticed in the ads that Anybody just had to

have and they're even telling people that You

know at this point. It's not really worth buying

like a ps4 Xbox one It's better just to keep

what you got because for the most part they're

making the same games for the old systems Yeah,

so it's it's yeah, it's kind of pointless Brad

Kellogg says, I too will be working on the dreaded

Black Friday, hopefully enjoying some shopping

after my shift, which hopefully you get some

good stuff. Yeah. Rachel Manning says, I stopped

going to stores a long time ago. It's all online

shopping for me, so I don't do Black Friday.

Too many crazy people in this world. Yep. Then

finishing it off with the last two of the feedback

is working. God don't remind me Yeah, hopefully

it's nowhere that's like extremely busy like

a Best Buy But if either way I can't imagine

it being fun working retail of any kind So hopefully

it wasn't too terrible King of Kong says I've

been more of a cyber Monday than Black Friday

lately not having to wake up early and Stand

in line and the cold has been a plus I still

go out but later in the day, which that's always

been my policy I won't get up early, but I have

no problem going after everybody doesn't give

a crap anymore Yeah, and cyber Monday, I think

it was kind of lackluster this year too, so I

didn't really buy anything Unless you can consider

my game like all in one. Yeah, probably. So the

finishing off this episode and cutting it down

since we're close to two hours now at this point.

The new question that I'm asking for next week.

So what do you think of the latest details featuring

the Justice League and Wonder Woman for Batman

or Superman? Or you could even equate it to,

you know, the element of, do you think that the

superhero movies are kind of going about it all

wrong at this point by introducing way too many

characters, whether it be villains, heroes, or

otherwise? That could be summed up in Amazing

Spider -Man 2, Batman vs Superman, aka Justice

League. or like the X -Men films? Well I think

with the with the X -Men film because it's two

different timelines that kind of collide back

and forth they'll probably pull that off really

good with Amazing Spider -Man 2 and Justice League

and whatever else. I don't know. Like I said,

I gotta wait to see More in the case of amazing

spider -man 2 I have to wait and see the actual

film the trailer looks good looks interesting

but You know Who knows we'll just have to wait

and see I'll comment more about it next week

because I've kind of already been on that soapbox

all episode long. And again, I'll talk more about

Arkham Origins next week when Powers is back,

and I've had a chance to play more of the game.

is the possibility that we may not have one the

week of Christmas so we'll know closer to that

time one way or the other even if it's something

short I may just do something if nobody else

does but it'd be funny if you just did like edited

the show together the way it's supposed to be

done and in the middle for the actual episode

you just say It's Christmas. We're not here.
