You are tuned in to Steve Megatron on Altered

Geek Unlimited. Hello and welcome to Altered

Geek Unlimited episode 131. I'm your host Steve

Megatron Phillips and... I'm doing this episode

solo mostly because it's going to come out the

day that is 3 25 2016 and why I'm mentioning

that is I'm going to see Batman v Superman and

What's the significance of that well? I'm going

to say that I'm not going to spoil anything.

I've read about it because I do know Quite a

few things about this episode or this film that's

coming out That being said I'm not going to mention

anything until next week Because by then hopefully

everybody's seen it. I will have it like a Later

segment the show because obviously I don't want

to spoil it for those that haven't had a chance

to see the movie yet It's because that's kind

of a douchey thing to do I'm not into the While

I myself don't mind spoilers and don't mind finding

out stuff about it. Yeah, it might disappoint

certain things that I might read It doesn't bother

me overall of something spoiled for me whereas

some people it really bothers them if They're

they're spoiled For them, so I'm going to leave

it as like a segment towards the end of the show

that way I'll clearly say hey if you haven't

seen it skip this That way it's not in the middle

of the show or anything. That being said, I'm

super stoked for this movie only for the fact

that it's kind of been a staple of this show

the entire duration and what I really love about

it is the fact that we started Altered Geek Unleashed

or Unlimited or whatever it was called at the

time with Batman V Superman news and the fact

that it was coming out and then we got to go

through the entire process and finally three

years later We're getting to the payoff to that

initial show So we get to finally see whether

all the hype and all the talk about Batman V

Superman was actually worth it So I'm I'm super

stoked only for the fact that I'm really, I love

Batman as a character. I'm hoping that it redeems

some of the Man of Steel stuff. I've heard that

if you're not a fan of Man of Steel, you're not

gonna like this film. I've heard that there's,

you know, movie within a movie type set up with

no explanation. But again... Certain things I've

heard are from like Marvel fanboys and not DC

fanboys so whereas if I'd heard it from somebody

that's a DC fanboy that they genuinely didn't

like the movie or They had these problems with

it. I Would be more apt to listen, but if there

are people that like nerd out on Marvel content

like hardcore. I have a hard time following behind

that so again, I'm I think it's a movie that

everyone should see regardless because it's the

first versus movie. I mean, we've got two this

summer. You've got Batman v Superman and Captain

America vs Iron Man. So it's not really that

different of a palette this spring. But I'm genuinely

looking forward to it. I love the suit of Batman.

I want to see what comes out. I want to see how

well Wonder Woman's portrayed. I want to see...

to the extent all of these massive amounts of

cameos that were casted for this film are going

to pay off because I've been skeptical since

the get -go on that. But yeah, I mean, I'm kind

of... I hope you guys leave your comments in

the section below the episode post because I

really want to hear what you guys have to say

on the entire debacle on Batman v Superman and...

your thoughts and how you enjoyed or disliked

certain aspects of the film. So be sure to leave

those in the episode post below. So without further

ado, we'll be right back with our first segment.

You're listening to the Altergeek News Network.

Welcome back to the AGNN. I'm Steve Megatron

Phillips again. Thank you for rejoining us. I

wanted to bring this up actually in the initial

part of the show, but since I'm at this point

in the show I kind of want to bring it up regardless

Yesterday I would have recorded, but there was

too many. I don't know there's too many downsides

I had a topic in mind however one of the hosts

couldn't be here because he was having power

outages and The other one could be but by then

I was so I Didn't have any motivation to do it

So I opted not to and play Battlefield 4 because

my heart just wasn't in it last night. So I decided

to record it this morning because I have the

energy to do it now. I'm hyped up. I'm going

to be going to see Batman v Superman tonight.

Yesterday I had, and this is from years of eating

candy, sugar, drinking pop, all that. I don't

know if anybody actually cares, but... Had my

teeth drilled yesterday and they had to cut into

part of my gums to get to the lower part of my

teeth and Repair part of part of my teeth and

then I Had three back teeth worked on so my my

mouth was swollen and from like It was a good

six seven hours and by the time I had the opportunity

to speak again I was just too sore to really

want to open my mouth So yeah with the moving

on to the AGN and There was a Lego Batman movie

teaser trailer And full trailer they had the

Batcave teaser, and then they had the full -on

trailer you have like Will Arnett playing Batman

again from the Lego movies. I think it's actually

really funny movie premise wise Think I'm gonna

enjoy this a lot more than the actual Lego movie

well I do understand some of the the things with

the Lego movie, and I did partially enjoy it

It really wasn't my favorite thing in the world

This because of the fact that it's a Batman film

I'm I'm more I'm more in tune to want to see

this And I think my kid will love it too, so

that's that's the other part But yeah, the trailer

is actually really really humorous. It's it hits

all the beats of What a good trailer should to

to tease it up I I'm gonna have the the link

in the episode post. It's it's pretty funny You

can see Batman in you know his batcave and he's

eating shrimp and cooking it and he's like I

deserve this and he's sitting in the batwing

and eating it just a lot of it's just pretty

It's very very Lego movie esque and in terms

of how it's portrayed, but um it's very entertaining

Moving on with more DC Because people were you

know the the film critics in and this is one

thing I've never gotten behind to me. I don't

trust in film critics Granted technically I would

be considered a film critic even though. I'm

not it. I don't know I think Like these online

website blogs and in in geek websites and podcasts.

I think that they're kind of like the middle

ground Because you have you have these these

people that have studied to be film critics That

they look for these certain things and mind you

they're not filmmakers, so they don't know They're

not passionate about whatever it is that they're

making enough to give it the light of you know

The light of day and I I find that the film critics

more often than not I disagree with almost everything

that they have to say For the most part. I mean

most of them. I just I can't stand their their

opinions I don't find them very relevant. I find

that they nitpick on things a little bit more

Based on if it's a geek property or not Which

I don't know if it's fair either way to nitpick

on whether it's a geek property or not Because

like geeks kind of are like I'm not gonna give

that film a time of day because it's not it's

not a geek centric film and then film critics

are the same way towards geek film so Kind of

on both sides of the fence. It's you're kind

of screwed either way because you're skewed to

their opinion and Over the last like year or

so I've been trying to branch out with my my

film watching much like movie revolt or or Optimus

solo how they they kind of watch a variety of

films including the geek stuff I'm more geek

centric and far as my films however I I Try to

give the light of day to the ones that I would

normally not watch and it's not only because

I don't go have time chance to go to the theater

a lot it's because I want to give these films

the benefit of the doubt. I've been taking filmmaking

classes. I've been taking media classes. So I've

kind of got a little bit of that history, the

aesthetics, the cinematography parts, the screenwriting.

So I'm kind of getting all the pieces of the

puzzle in my head and getting to know how the

process works. And I think that that kind of

helps when you're sitting trying to analyze a

film whether you liked it or not So I think that

that's kind of helped adjust my my viewership

So I not only watch things that I love but I

watch things that I normally would not so At

least then I can judge it fairly saying that

I tried to watch it. I tried to look at it in

a different perspective so Pushing back into

the Batman v Superman Critics are attacking the

film saying it's too dark and simply not funny.

Enough. Sorry about that. So they're saying Justice

League is going down a different route by the

sound of it and Flash and some other people are

going to be more comedic. So while I'm down for

this, and I do agree that From the sounds of

it Batman v Superman's got too many cooks in

the kitchen. I still Am pumped to see it And

I in whatever they do I hope that it works and

I hope that Because you can't copy the Marvel

model the Marvel battle has been done. They're

still doing it There's no point going back to

it So I'm hoping Regardless that the film turns

out well, then you've got the Batman v Superman

cast responding to the negative reviews which

Why they let people watch this stuff and then

publish the reviews before the movie comes out

and fill up your your Rotten Tomatoes, which

that's a whole nother subject. I can't get behind

I don't care for Rotten Tomatoes, and it's not

It's not because it's a film site that critiques

It's because Anybody can go on there and do it

and If you are entirely skewed like all the people

that No, don't get me wrong. I love the force

awakens But it was a new hope rehashed basically

So That The the blinding love for for that compared

to this I think that There's there's a difference

and people are hating on this just because either

they're They're skewed in some way I couldn't

explain What might be skewing them, but there's

got to be some reason for it um But again, I

haven't seen the movie, so I don't really know

I'm gonna be seeing it tonight, so I'm hoping

that of these these rumors of certain things

that didn't work and did work I Hope that it

it worked out the way it's supposed to But again,

it's it's just a movie I'm hoping I just enjoy

it even if the story is a little bit lackluster

in spots I'm hoping that it's just a fun Action

movie and from what I've heard Batman is exactly

what we've been needing for years More you know

Getting into the thick of it, not just standing

there talking. Either way, I'm looking forward

to it. Moving on, we have Star Wars Rebels Season

2 Finale Reviews First Look at Old Darth Maul.

This is a show I've been watching since the get

-go. I really love this show. I think it fits

really well. Between the Clone Wars and the the

episode three to four And then the tie -ins to

episode the later, you know, four five six I

think are really nice. I'm wondering how Darth

Maul's presence signifies into the future of

Star Wars or whether Ezra is Supreme Leader Snoke

as some people are trying to coin it because

You know in that even in the teaser he meets

Darth Maul So I'm wondering how this is all going

to play out, but I kind of wish that they'd bring

them all back for a film. So moving on, we have

Wonder Woman. Linda Carter is coming to Supergirl.

It doesn't say what she's going to be playing

or who, but yeah, she's coming to Supergirl,

which is kind of cool. Jeff John says there's

big plans for booster gold But doesn't say whether

it's in the cinematic extended universe or the

television universe either way Big things are

coming Honestly, I think I think booster gold

would fit better In The television like legends

of tomorrow or or something But I think that

That would be the best place for him to show

up I Don't know that's just me I I Enjoyed the

character booster gold somewhat. I've gotten

an appreciation for him over the Justice League

and stuff like that So that's my only exposure

to him, so I hope that that that's rings true

Well, there's 11 Disney sequels we're getting

whether we want them or not I saw this article

and I started laughing So like obviously we know

finding Dory's coming the Alice through the looking

glass and another Pirates of the Caribbean We

knew Incredibles 2, Frozen 2, Maleficent 2 Wreck

-It Ralph 2. I wasn't I didn't know about these

they had Cars 3 coming We knew Toy Story 4 was

coming. Mary Poppins 2, which is supposed to

be a sequel, why? And Disenchanted, which is

Enchanted's sequel. Again, why? The only ones

that I'm really stoked about are, like, Incredibles

and Wreck -It Ralph. The rest of them I could

do without. Like, Toy Story wrapped it up. Cars,

I could care less. Pirates. While I do enjoy

the films, I could care less. Yeah, I'm not.

So Another thing that kind of popped out this

week is Batman 50 Bruce Wayne returns Well, they

changed the bat suit He's got a little bit of

purple in the cape He's got a new utility belt

and the bat signal is different on his suit along

with like a yellow outline to it So you still

got the black and gray suit But it's actually

really different it's got a lot of the callings

to other stuff Moving on to the next clip we

have television well quote -unquote television

Has first shot of a new Voltron series to appear

It's got the entire Voltron robot. It's kind

of if you've seen Transformers robots in disguise

the 2015 Transformers cartoon on Cartoon Network

Mind you, this one is done by DreamWorks Animation

compared to the other studio that did Transformers

Prime and did Transformers RID. This one is Voltron

the Legendary Defenders produced by DreamWorks

Animation and doing the original Netflix series

based on, you know, they also do the How to Train

Your Dragon and so on. I don't know, it looks

pretty sharp. It doesn't look as... Goofy looking

as the Transformers red and it's got a lot of

the same kind of color brightly colored color

palettes But it looks more uniform and kind of

more Believable as a cohesive robot I can say

I mean I'm not a huge fan of Voltron I don't

know too much about it, but I I think that it's

a worthwhile Gamble, then I'm gonna try and watch

with my son on Netflix since I already have it

So, we'll give that a shot. So, we got our first

shot of, and this is the DC Rebirth videos that

they're teasing. They're supposed to have more

of these things popping up. So far, the words

that have popped up are redemption, power, and

destiny. And you get a nice shot of a Robin.

Doesn't say which one, but it's Robin. The one

with the hood and whatnot then you get superboy

who looks like he's wearing a zip -up Superman

costume In the same image you get to see like

Batman Superman Wonder Woman There's also a shot

of a Couple other characters, but you don't really

get to see like you can see flashes in there

And he looks like he's more of a hip -hop type

flash like kind of I'm betting it's gonna be

Wally West And we're not gonna see like Barry

Allen be in that group Just based on, like, he

looks like he's a younger generation Flash, so

that's the only reason I'm basing it off that

I think it's more of a Wally West over a Barry

Allen, like the original Justice League setup.

There's also a shot of what looks to be Cyborg,

Harley Quinn, Killer Croc, Green Lantern now

the Green Lantern they show is female It looks

almost like kind of like how John Stewart would

look except. It's a female version I kind of

I don't know I mean I kind of dig all these this

this concept of a new Justice League because

they've been playing around and tweaking with

the entire setup of the crew for years and So

I'm kind of kind of interested to see what they

do here i'm wondering how killer croc and harley

quinn play into this and if they're going to

be a part of the justice league um unless i i

really don't know i mean that could be why they

have the the redemption in there maybe it's for

those two and then the the power you have uh

the female green lantern and then the destiny

i would i would almost argue is the the young

Robin and the Superboy kind of looking up to

their mentors of the same kind of titles. I don't

know, I'm kind of digging it. It screams to me

a different direction and almost I wish this

was what they had conceived when they came up

with the new 52 rather than... Because if they're

going to reboot it, I would think that the new

52 should have gone in this direction of the

rebirth rather than trying to retread a lot of

the same ground even though... It wasn't the

same ground. There were like new stories and

new concepts, but it's the same characters and

the same same crews and the same same League

members tied together so I I can kind of get

behind this I I'm I'm very looking forward to

this So yeah, I think that about rounds it out

in the news, so I'll be back in a clip after

this Welcome to the Wicked Radio Network. Want

to the show. And just for fun, I've included

this clip. I was trying to have a conversation

with my son last night while we were eating dinner.

Actually, we were cleaning up and getting ready

to play with some toys. He's really on this kick

because it's close to Easter. He knows that he

gets toys with Easter not very many, but just

a couple He's been really wanting his own Justice

League Unlimited Batman Joker and Flash figures

because I have a bunch of Batman's and Flash

or not Flash Joker figures In this display case

and so I periodically let him play with Some

of these figures Just to kind of I like nostalgia

and I like playing with toys sometimes so I I

play with my sons, you know We play action figures

and play superheroes he he loves to To interact

with with me and in getting to play With these

storylines that we create even as far -fetched

as they may be it's still fun and I enjoy every

bit of it But he said you don't have a flash

daddy, and I'm like oh, yeah, that's right. I

don't I need to get one and He doesn't let it

let me live it down that I don't have a flash

and I need one and he says I need a flash I need

a joker and I need a Batman so for Easter we

got him a flash figure a Justice League unlimited

one because those are my favorite line and they

fit equally with the figures I have so Makes

it easier size comparison wise for him to get

that particular figure so I had to get it on

eBay So I'm super stoked to see his face when

he gets it And I'll update with that hopefully

maybe I'll just record it and I'll put it on

the next episodes podcast But you're having a

conversation about Batman and Superman and who

would win I didn't say who would win in a fight

because I'm trying to lean him away from the

fighting and the beating out because he's He's

got this mentality where he wants to punch everything

if he's been watching it so to some degree So

I'm trying to curb him away from that a little

bit for the violence part But I just asked him

who would win and so you're gonna hear the results

in this clip right now Say hi Say who would win

Batman or Superman? Why Superman? Does he can

fly? So Batman won't win? You're mean. What did

you say a minute ago? Who would win? Batman or

Superman? And you said? Hulk. Hulk. I want you

to be Hulk. You said Hulk? Why? Because he's

got powers? Because he's strong? Yeah. You said

Flash a minute ago. So Flash would win if it

was Batman and Superman? Hulk will win. Hulk

will? So what if it was Hulk, Batman, Superman,

and Flash? Who would win? Hulk. Again? Hulk Smash.

Hulk Smash? What about Flash? He could just run

around him. Yeah? Say bye -bye Hi, this is Pat

Fraley, purveyor of Doc, Doug, and Velen Voices,

and you're watching Altered Geek. So I hope you

enjoyed this clip. I normally would have a longer

episode for you, but being that it's been recorded

so kind of infrequent throughout the day, and

I really want to get an episode out, and I really...

I'm really pumped about the batman v superman

movie that so I mean I'm sorry if it's a DC gush

this week which it kind of is but I do have stuff

planned for next week that unfortunately because

of hosting issues we weren't able to get everybody

on that I wanted so I definitely want to talk

batman v superman next week so if you guys have

any question comment suggestions that you'd like

to have mentioned next week on the show feel

free to drop them to me at SCP -21 on Twitter

or at alter geek or or get a hold of us on the

episode post or On the Facebook page. I'll be

checking all of it. So just wherever you feel

like posting. I'll see it so even despite that

I just really want to know what you guys think

about the movie after you've watched it or if

you get the chance to watch it and I really want

an accurate count because I don't want to spoil

the movie, so I'm hoping that we can get all

of us kind of in a nice group discussion because

I really want to know what people were expecting,

what they were hoping for, based on maybe what

they've heard in the show over the past three

years or over the course of just what they've

been reading, what they've been hearing, what

they saw themselves. I really want to have a

general opinion from everybody that saw this

film because I'm wondering how it's going to

compare when we go to see Captain America Civil

War Because it's again another versus episode

type of film and I'm kind of wondering how that's

going to play out later So until next time get

altered geek geeky with the altered geeks
