About this Episode

Steve discusses his ongoing struggles with allergies and computer issues from a Windows 10 anniversary update that affected his audio settings, then dives into the return of DC superhero shows on the CW—including Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow. The hosts also cover new adaptations of films as TV series like Lethal Weapon and Frequency, the return of Fraggle Rock to HBO, Battlefield 1's EA Access trial, and the Rogue One trailer.

We tell her? Wait a second. Is this that Fight

Club thing? You're tuned in to Steve Megatron

on Altered Geek. Hello and welcome to Altered

Geek episode 160. I'm your host, Steve Megatron

Phillips, and joining me this week is... Do you

feel like at least I hope I'm here but yeah this

week we're gonna be gone in 160 seconds 160 yeah,

cuz it's episode 160 gone in 160 seconds Yes,

yes, apparently that joke just flew right past

him folks So we are here we are not waiting anymore

I tell you The last two weeks have just been

really screwed up I've had My allergies are so

out of whack and I'm out of my allergy meds and

they don't get here until like Monday So I haven't

had allergy meds in two weeks And my allergies

have just been killing me Like 20 minute sneezing

fits where I sneeze so hard my whole body aches

That's not good. You know, that's not good And

on top of that as everyone heard in episode 140

and 159 to see I can't even think now 159 Frickin

Bill Gates and Microsoft so They've been doing

this slowly revealing this Windows 10 anniversary

update What they didn't tell anybody is that

the update essentially for certain things on

on your computer? factory reset stuff Like your

audio settings so last week When you guys were

listening to episode 159 of altered geek if you

were listening to it You'll notice that I was

only actually on the episode two two or three

different times because Last week when we recorded

apparently my audio settings for recording were

not configured properly Yeah Skype no Oh, this

is not a Skype thing. This is not Skype. It's

like the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It's all

connected. OK, yes, Microsoft does own Skype.

But this was not a Skype thing. This was a Windows

10 anniversary update thing, where the Mother

Furbin thing decided to put my audio settings

for my computer to defaults that weren't what

I had previously set. It reminds me of that Samuel

Jackson line from I think it's Jackie Brown.

You can turn the music up all you want, but don't

mess with my levels. Seriously. What the interesting

thing is, I spent two days editing episode 159,

and in that two day edit time, I only ended up

cutting out 25 minutes. So my audio for that

podcast was only 25 minutes of the hour and 36

minutes of audio. What I noticed is, and I'm

not trying to throw you into the buses, it's

a lot easier to clean up your sniffles when there's

no other audio, when it's just you talking. So

yeah, computer issues, allergies and... On top

of that, after I fixed the issues, I don't know

what the heck happened, but the episode of The

Pullback that I released this week where Nicole

and I, Nicole Beetlesdeven and I talked about

Boom Studios, Kennel Block Blues, issues number

three and four, because I figured I fixed all

the issues, there is nothing wrong. Go to edit

the podcast Wednesday morning, and for some odd

reason, her end has an echo on it, but it isn't

like an echo, like a background echo, echo. Well,

I made a video for class that took me about two

days to make. And I was attempting to do a really

bad John Lovitz impression, and I really didn't

have it in me to do it justice. Justice. Change

the pitch levels like I used to do for the geek

cast radio like the you're listening to the cast

radio and like making it deep and everything

so I did a little different tweaking with it

and audition and Gave it this Really weird type

of sound but it sounded good for the video and

I replicated the good idea bad idea from Animaniacs

and I did it more or less of you know it's time

for another good idea bad idea good idea and

then it says you know uh basically having your

say i did it on voting because like last year

i guess everybody in the class did on the flint

water crisis and then this year uh well i mean

among other things eight other ones but this

year i figured everybody was going to be like

hating on trump or hating on clinton and i hated

on both of them equally By basically telling

people to vote I was saying, you know letting

your voice be heard and then I had like a polling

election thing which I was trying to find suitable

footage for this and All of the the places where

you get the footage Where you you know, and I

was going to you know, if it was like five bucks

I probably would have purchased it No, they wanted

like 75 100 and 200 and I'm like a video for

class and so I found a newscast showing people

at the polls don't know where it was from, don't

really remember other than the fact that it fit

perfectly. So I cut this special segment and

it actually fit perfectly in the slot that I

had in the 30 second clip of that section. And

I said, letting your voice be heard. And then

I said, bad idea. And then I went to a debate

thing of Trump and Clinton on their second debate

where they're flapping. And then I had, which

my teacher nitpicked on the quality of it because

it was like a 480p and it should have been 1080p

HD. I later found smaller, because what it was

is I could have downloaded the entire debate

to get this snippet of like 11 seconds. it would

have been like almost a gigabyte of download.

And I'm like, I'm not downloading any debate

for that. So I put the other one, which was much

smaller in there. And of course, when he mentions

that he'd like to see it in better quality, I

found a, because it was two days later, I found

a newscast with a small five minute video. And

I was able to snip the same section that I was

looking for and put it in there So it came out

really well, but I had a green screen Location

of like Pittsburgh. I just looked like it fit

So and then I had a nuclear bomb go off in the

background And it showed the city getting leveled

and it says letting your voice be heard and it

says vote, you know November 8th 2016 and so

it was it was kind of a gag and my teacher was

like I Don't think he really knew what to do

with it, but he was like laughing at the same

time He's like where did you get that footage

and I'm like it was a green screen effect thing

and I says it was like Pittsburgh or something

He says did you go to Pittsburgh and I was like

no and he's like, oh No, I said but you like

that not voting causes a nuclear bomb to go off,

right? He just he just kind of cackled and then

he was like okay and then uh he says just fix

this this then this and then and then we'll leave

it at that um so awesome yeah i i was it was

quite proud of that um he did say uh and there

was one other group that totally spoiled it for

everybody um they shot a short film over the

summer they had footage that didn't fit with

that short film and they had scrapped it and

so they they decided to use it for something

else in the winter session well he knew that

that footage that they used for their 30 second

spot came from another class with him because

he saw some of the footage and the actors and

the stuff that had to do with it and he says

i've never had this happen before he says but

um because you've done this i have to set this

precedent now in the syllabus he says uh Somebody

used footage that they shot for another class

of his in a previous semester and reused it for

this assignment. And so he says, not again. And

I was like, hey, I did animation both times.

I came up with it on my own. And so I got a pass.

So they got some flack for it. Yeah, it was it

just humored me Out of all the political things

that I've seen this whole like I don't I try

my best not to get super political on Facebook

and Twitter and that kind of thing because I

just know it's gonna cause just so much hell

But the best thing I've seen is One day for no

particular reason. I just felt like running for

us Trump The one thing I have to say about the

election, and this is as far as I'm going to

go with it, is I don't endorse either candidate,

but I see World War III happening with Trump

in office, only for the fact that he runs his

mouth entirely too much to the point that he

thinks he's a dictator. And he kind of idolatries

of these dictators. And I feel like the First

Amendment will go right out the window, among

other things. And now there's this thing floating

around where it's trending on Facebook, the taking

away women's right to vote, which it's this hashtag

that it was started as an article or something

of something that somebody wrote an article about

projecting that Trump would win the election

if only men voted. Not saying that women shouldn't

vote, but just saying that if it was just a poll

of only men. So the Trump supporters have now

latched onto this hashtag of repeal the 19th

to try and take away the women's rights to vote.

Which I think is total BS Yeah And I don't think

anybody in their existence at this point in history

has dealt with such a ridiculously stupid Election

and presidential election that's the most like

a Reality show It just it boggles my mind how

stupid this entire thing has been and then after

watching that second debate People can say what

they want and mind you again. I hate both candidates.

They're not neither one of them are fit to be

in office for various reasons and So if you have

hate for that send it feedback at geek cast radio

comm but I do know that a lot of people I work

with and my Members of my family are voting for

Trump For various reasons because Clinton has

baggage but Trump has just as much so I'm stuck

in this I Mean they they both like honestly,

I think the most and a lot of words But they

both flip -flop because there's a lot of video

footage of that right that keeps getting pulled

up the consistent lies like I expect a politician

to lie and I expect a businessman to lie but

to the extent that both of these have like been

thrown over the coals over the last 10 years

especially the last 10 years neither one of them

are fit and I think that they've pigeonholed

themselves into whoever gets elected we're not

gonna this is gonna be a one -term shot either

way Yeah You know the funny thing is I did read

I did some research because I knew we were gonna

bring this up in some capacity this week Yeah,

see the vice president look into the vice president

So I know yeah, but listen, so here's the thing.

I I looked up on Wikipedia list of United States

vice presidents from the very beginning of the

of the presidency to now And more often than

not, whether a president dies in office, or even

if a president can't be re -elected because he

has served the two terms, the vice president

usually takes the presidency the next time around.

There have been several different times that

this has happened in history. What I find interesting

is that it's not happening this time. To me,

the vice presidency, like... I don't even remember,

like it's been so long since I learned about

the vice president. Well the thing is, there

hasn't been a prominent in your face vice president

since Al Gore. Because Dick Cheney was just kind

of there as like Bush's like, in case he chokes

on that pretzel and dies, they had him in place.

And then Obama's, you don't see him unless you

know, unless Obama's in hiding or on vacation.

Or on a reality show so yeah, we're playing yeah

Putting their holes in one Talk about the legend

Oh Okay, the other big political thing that this

well I did not even mean for this to become political

And this is gonna tie into what we're gonna talk

about in a few moments here But Supergirl returned

Monday October 10th this past week and Yes, ridiculously

good we'll talk about the overall couple episodes

of Supergirl in a segment here in the future

the show here but As I'm watching the first episode

of Supergirl They specifically state in this

television show that you know You know what happens

if you know the president or whoever gets a hold

of whatever powers and whatever aliens or whatever

alien tech Yeah, and and you know they basically

say well the president she would do something

they specifically say the president she would

do something so my You know you can check in

on Facebook to stuff you watch and things like

that so I checked into Supergirl and I said Supergirl

basically just said that Hillary Clinton is going

to win the election. Facebook exploded. That

post exploded. I have no idea how the hell it

happened. I was just commenting that a television

show basically said Hillary Clinton was going

to win. The funny thing is your brother, Kevin,

said that's why I don't watch that show. So Superhero

TV, it's back. Well, I was going to say, I mean,

I don't think a break is, per se, warranted here.

Because we've already started talking about it.

But we've had all the shows come back. I mean,

granted, at the time of this recording, Legends

of Tomorrow has aired, but neither of us has

had a chance to watch it. I have, however, watched.

I'm gonna briefly overview all the shows that

have kind of come out that I've watched and not

getting into detail, but I've watched Gotham.

I've watched, you know, like Big Bang Theory.

I've watched Last Man Standing. I've watched,

you know, Blacklist, Lethal Weapon, all the superhero

shows. I have yet to see Supernatural as well

because that aired tonight too. And I'm looking

forward to seeing what happens with that. I've

been impressed with all the shows so far including

arrow which is kind of got me a little You know

thinking about it, but at the same time It has

been affected albeit subtly By the flash so far

Have you seen it yet hmm Yeah, this is I've seen

arrow. I just was it the second episode of the

third episode of it We're sure do we want to?

So Let's let's tackle them in order from when

they release so we had flash and arrow season

3 for flash season 5 for arrow episode 1 Season

3 of flash episode 1 was really good. I really

enjoyed it Arrow season five episode one not

so much. I think with flash it picked up at a

good point it The flashpoint thing. I'm glad

it didn't last more than that episode and The

ripple effect that was caused because of it.

I see is very good thing Because it sent shockwaves

through the rest the universe Although I'm not

Particularly fun with what they've done with

Cisco and Caitlin yet Yeah, that's well I like

that at the end of I think it's either the end

of the first or the second maybe it's the end

of the second episode yeah, so I Like where Caitlin's

going because the other thing is is that would

mean we need to have regular killer frost around

Sit If she became evil she wouldn't be a serious

regular so you would yeah, I'm not sure how they're

gonna pull that off so It's it's kind of a double

-edged sword there. Although I'm Cisco's alter

ego. I do like what they've done with him so

far But I and I did love the fact that they had

Jay Eric stop Barry from playing got again with

the timeline. Like, hey, it's enough, kid. You've

already screwed it up once. Yeah, that was awesome.

He's like, you crack it, it's still not right.

The thing with having John Wesley's ship as classic

90s Jay Garrick now in the flash with CW is...

You can have Barry have a father figure without

it really being his dad seeing his hat You know

the whole doppelganger thing they even he even

mentions that you know I know I'm your dad's

doppelganger and all that and I'm just trying

to help here So I think that's a good it's gonna

be a good thing for Barry When it comes to arrow

Arrow that show I said it last season season

four Every either every other episode or every

two episodes it got really really good Season

three was horrible seasons one and two are great

but Season five I think they're going to go back

to the whole every other episode being good or

whatever because the first episode the my first

thoughts were oh my god you basically have a

90s gangster movie black guy The villain really

seriously what the hell and then the end the

second episode comes in and Kind of was the whole

flashpoint thing I think that part of it was

set up anyway, but regardless of the flashpoint

I there's certain characters have been altered

because of flashpoint, but not Yeah, it still

doesn't explain why Diggle is such an important

part to the flashpoint and Having his thing change

although With him having a son instead of a daughter

ties into the Connor Hawk thing in Legends of

Tomorrow's future episode So which was directly

correlated, you know earlier today's I saw articles

about it so But what I'd like about season five

so far Yes, the first episode was weak But I

think that they kind of had to coming back from

what they left behind in the previous season

to kind of set up this next antagonist in the

show. And now that they've got that set up and

got some of the stuff started, there's still

ripple effects left over from season four, but

not, they're still encountering all new territory.

And from what I've read from the producers and

the writers is they want to recapture what they

had in season one and two. So they're trying

to kind of build out this new team without the

original team being there. Yeah yet still being

there so Yeah, I mean the whole Diggle storyline

I don't get what like i don't remember if it

was explained why he went over there or anything

like that i just know he's over there for the

military doing some sort of mission that's fine

whatever the best thing about episode two of

arrow for season five other than the fact that

you know they're bringing bringing a new team

together slowly um optimus primal as a badass

general villain. You got Gary Chalk in there.

I was like, I didn't even need to look up to

see that it was, as soon as I heard his voice,

I'm like, hey, it's Optimus Primal in Arrow,

that's awesome. Which is where every CW show

is shot. Which explains why also he's on frequency

as the coroner. Right. See, I've been watching

that as well. I haven't caught up with frequency

yet. I was watching part of an episode and I

heard his voice first. And then I saw him. But

it was brief. You didn't really get a good look

at him. Plus I had it window sized because I

was doing work on an actual window. So I had

to check the credits at the end and I was like,

well, it is him. No, because the way I... The

way I'm watching the CW shows, I'm doing it legally,

technically. I have the CW app for Windows 10

now, so the next day of the airing. So Legends

tonight will show up there tomorrow morning.

I'll just watch the first episode of Legends

tomorrow morning. Well, the morning that this

goes up, Friday the 14th here. But it's one of

those things where... I was skeptical. I know

you and I and Dan, movie revolt Dan on Twitter,

Dan Clark from Talking in Circles, we went back

and forth, back and forth about apps and TV and

that kind of thing a while ago on Twitter. My

biggest complaint about free apps for television

watching is the ads. Like if it's like three

short 30 second ads, I'm fine But if it's six

one minute or minute and a half ads all in a

row, I'm just like new You know, but so far the

cw app and the ads have not been that bad. It's

actually been pretty good I have to catch up

with frequency. I have not had a chance to catch

up with that. Exactly. I've sure and Well, they

they're starting to to some extent but I mean

they're fleshing out more of the stuff. Maybe

they'll break out of that But so far they're

still in the movie timeline like as far as like

They still haven't solved like they're they've

solved the father type of thing Which again,

it's you're gonna expect that they're gonna follow

part of the films anyway when they're converting

And then they're doing the the mother part, you

know on the they have a different part of here,

you know For the dad just later on It's yeah

But it's not it's different characters though.

It's not following change all of males with female

So it's it's it's good. It's just in a lot of

the same stuff that happened In the film has

already happened so far in the show like it's

it's almost like cookie cutter, but they've like

expanded on some of the it's But it isn't it

supposed to Isn't it supposed to be taking place

this year in 2016 and then it goes back to 1996,

right? Is that right? Okay. So essentially what

they're doing here folks is it is The it is the

Sullivan family or the the name at least of the

Sullivan's but you know in this in the the original

film frequency 1989 or it was what was it 1999

in 1969? Yeah, so basic No, it was no it was

1969 in the movie because there was the amazing

Mets year, but They're essentially doing the

2030 year thing So 2016 to 1996, that's 20 years,

and they're just going back. I can't really give

too much thought on it, because I have to actually

watch it. And there are a lot of shows that I

just haven't been able to... Like, I had to watch

Lethal Weapon this week some other way than I

normally do, because it didn't show up on Hulu

until like five minutes before we recorded this.

If you have a cable provider or some other way

of logging into it, it lets you do that and then

you can choose from either 2 minute and 50 second

commercial or 30 second interactive commercials,

which you just click one thing on it and then

hit watch show and you can just keep going, which

is what I do. So I do that with Gotham and with

Leap of Weapons. Yeah, I mean I've I've enjoyed

it but I yeah if they don't like I have a feeling

they're gonna drag out the mother's thing and

the the That killer that's like predominantly

throughout the movie If they're trying to stop

I have a feeling that's gonna get dragged out

through the like the entire season Right and

then even if they do like I'm wondering what

they're gonna be able to fixed from that I Don't

I don't see the show lasting that long as I guess

what my point is for frequency whereas lethal

weapon I think has Grown legs and been able to

kind of go on its own now at this point It's

a new territory, yeah lethal weapon has been

able to in four episodes it's been able to homage

Well, it's a new territory. It's characters in

name and in style, but it's not the exact same

characterizations that were in the movies. This

Lethal Weapon series is not a sequel series.

It's a reboot. It is a full -on reboot and a

reimagining of the films for television, and

that's great, and it works. I think it's cool.

I think it is finding its feet. Four episodes

in and in those four episodes. I've noticed several

different things that homage the film franchise

without basically trying to Harp on the film

franchise like this tonight separate last Wednesday

night's episode this week Basically dealt with

Roger's son RJ so That whole thing that whole

storyline with RJ and rigs and everything else

kind of reminded me and RJ's friend Marcus kind

of reminded me of leave the weapon three when

Murtagh's son in the movie. He has a friend named

Darrell who's dealing in in in weapons so it

kind of has a way of taking various not really

elements but bits and pieces of the movie franchise

and throwing it in there while at the same time

crafting a whole new story for characters we've

already known. Again, I'm looking forward to

seeing what else they do with all these shows.

I think so far though, I think this season's

been pretty strong with all the shows that have

come back. Oh yeah. Yeah, that was pretty good

and I liked... The only one we haven't talked

about yet is Supergirl. More than I've enjoyed

the two from the feature film. Well, no, I'm

just saying like the two feature films that we've

had with Cavill. I think he's been poorly handled

and represented in the films as opposed to what

they managed to recapture in this one episode

of Supergirl. Well, yeah, I know. Well, I was

reading a few things about you know, the top

five reasons why that's cuz you have a pack slider

Superman is better than Zack Snyder's and it

says like one of them was like it's not Zack

Snyder And then one of them was that they they

managed to add the bumbling, you know Kind of

personable Clark Kent exactly the stoic like

almost Bruce Wayne ish characterization to him

and then they made you know the the costumes

underneath his suit and you know he's got the

the kind of hair thing going on and he's got

kind of like the nice you know farm boy type

of aesthetic to him whereas in the film you have

none of those features so it kind of makes him

just a a bland you know thing that Snyder just

kind of cherry picked what version of Superman

he liked and then that's what he had. The only

thing I don't like about Supergirl Superman is

he has yellow bits or yellow clasps on his cape,

on his shoulders. It's not distracting enough

where I'm going to take points off an episode

of Supergirl since it's her show, but it's freaking

weird looking on his cape. I almost enjoyed that

costume more than the one from the films because

one, it was brighter, it looked like a nice cross

between... Cavals and like Supergirls and the

the 70s Christopher Reeve you had the color of

the Christopher Reeve in there, but you had like

the Yeah, the aesthetic of like Supergirls and

part of Cavalier's in there with some original

CW news so I mean I really enjoyed it but Supergirl

having to basically be pushed to move on and

do something different, then you have Lena Luthor,

and then you have... There were just a lot of

likable things with this episode. Yeah, which

I knew that that was going to happen. Plus we

have the introduction of Metallo. Well, what

will become Metallo. Yeah, okay. I can't wait.

I know there's probably photos out there. I don't

want to see photos I want to see it in the episode.

I can't wait to see his transformation But the

intro to the show even added and I have new friends

and it's got like John Jones in the intro and

I don't know if you know this Jimmy Olsen's gonna

be coming the garden And it's an all decked out

like silver suit somebody recolored it to be

the comic version That's gonna be actually kind

of neat So yeah, that'll that'd be pretty cool.

They'll be adding Jimmy Olsen to the mix cool

essentially like they're cool John Diggle on

a sense Yeah There you go the other superhero

thing that has happened since the shows have

come back and that I have watched like Yeah,

I watched it about twice. I just absolutely love

it. I mean, I still enjoy it. Superhero fight

club 2 .0. It's just awesome For four minutes,

that's I enjoy it, but I'm not gonna keep rewatching

it So with that we'll take a quick break and

come back after this? You can get all of us on

Twitter at AlteredGeek. Look for us every week

on GeekCastRadio .com, of course, Stitcher Smart

Radio, iTunes, Blog Talk Radio, and AlteredGeek

.com. And now, back to the show. Back from the

great beyond, it is I, Steve Megatron, and on

this next part of AlteredGeek, we have Fraggle

Rock's return. Why are you talking like that?

Because I heard that sound It sounded like a

phone anyway Fraggle Rock is headed back to hobo

network HBO The same place that has Sesame Street,

so it kind of makes sense that they got Fraggle

Rock back I think it's kind of cool that they

they get to do Fraggle Rock again considering

Disney owns the Muppets. And Fraggle Rock originally

was on HBO. I remember we actually paid for HBO

back in the day and I watched HBO all the time

as a kid. Fraggle Rock, everything. I remember

watching the show. It was such a good show. Fraggle

Fraggle. And then they had the dog and then they

had the old man. Oh, the old man's gone. Mr.

Sprockets. Yeah, the old man's been probably

dead for a while. Who's gonna be Mr. Sprocket

now? I don't know. That sucks. That sounded like

so, like, insensible. Yeah, that's just so insensitive,

dude. Seriously, like, I'm... I just don't know.

I'm kind of like, what do we do now? So yeah,

I'm kind of excited for that. Yeah, that's very

cool. And then, of course, in other news, Battlefield

1 is out for EAA All Access. on Origin. So if

you have, as of October 13th, if you have EA

Access, you get a trial version of Battlefield

1 to play for 10 hours of gameplay. And after

10 hours, you are booted out of the trial, but

all of your progress stays in the cloud. So when

you eventually buy the game, You get to continue

where you left off So it is 40 gigabytes She's

yeah, I have an hour and 20 minutes left Because

it's five bucks for EA access and then they give

you 10 % off if you buy the game later So I'm

at 57 % downloading which Is only because my

comcast is only 25 megabytes instead of 90 elite

used to be But you can play it at 33 % so that's

kind of cool too So after I record the shows

I will be doing that Can't wait to get back in

the game plus there's new maps so I'm like Because

in 10 days the full version comes out for people

with all the stuff whereas this is kind of a

limited thing still better than the alpha better

than the beta this is like the Charlie or whatever

they call see say to something I don't know yeah

no that's Z Zeta is Z Charlie would be C no that

would be S no C to crap That starts with C. So

yeah, that's really cool. And then we had something

kind of cool pop up earlier today, the Star Wars

Rogue One trailer, where it actually showed something

and gave reason to care about the characters.

So I am... optimistic about the game or the the

movie now I don't I'm still not gonna see it

in theater but episode 8 I will see in theater

but that's because it's got Luke Skywalker this

are we sure episode 8 is gonna have Luke Skywalker

because they said episode 7 was gonna have Luke

Skywalker and he doesn't even have a damn line

he wasn't even in the the the poster or the credits

of the poster so He had like literally 15 seconds

of screen time Yeah with a stern glare of where's

my end and why do you have my old saver from

my daddy What planet did they fall from so yeah,

I'm I think I think it's gonna be pretty good.

I will see it on when it comes out on digital

or like streaming or something but Yeah, I'm

I'm optimistic for the movie now after this trailer.

The last trailer was kind of so so on it I mean

I was impressed but I think with each trailer

it gets stronger It comes out like two days before

Mary's birthday, so She don't care for Star Wars.

She don't care for Star Trek tried to get her

to watch episode 7 she didn't want to do it because

she's like I tried to have her you know the Warp

Zone they have a skit where it's a Star Wars

recap song I tried to have her watch that and

she was so totally confused because I wanted

to Watch episode 7 with her and get her reaction.

I'm like, well, you really don't need to know

like everything You just kind of need to know

some of it You just need to know four or five

and six, which is all the words are talks about

and it says and it says there's only three movies

of the series and then one of the guys in the

video starts to Put his hand up and he's like

Don't bother thinking further into it Like don't

yeah bother trying to think of the first three

and so like it was like yeah, and then just put

their hand down about it, but So I was trying

to get her to watch that and that didn't quite

work out in my favor so I just kind of ditched

that and watched it on my own but So I think

at this point in time the only movies like I

really because I didn't even buy BVS or Captain

America or any of those films the only ones I'm

dedicated like I have to own At any point now

because most things you can catch by the time

it hits streaming our Star Trek and Star Wars

and Beyond that I don't care to actually own

any other DVDs or blu -rays anymore Because again,

it's not something I couldn't get on streaming

With a Netflix subscription, you know So I just

I don't I don't buy DVDs or movies anymore or

TV shows for that matter because I Can count

on one hand the amount of times that I use those

TV shows once I buy them I have an entire collection

sitting at my desk that I have not taken out

of there unless we've been doing a review show

on it So right now Yeah, it's yeah, I mean everything

nowadays is either streaming or you can get it

on iTunes or Wherever other digital media, you

know, they're there. I just found this thing

Was it go 90? I think that has various things

on there The only reason why I was looking for

this thing is there's a new mini web series out

there called relationship status I Sent you the

link to this. I don't know if you had a chance

to check it out Said it to you a couple days

ago It's basically a short series. It's not the

episodes are 10 12 minutes each About how all

of these people's lives are affected by social

media It's a really interesting series. It's

something that I'll be covering on remote control

at some point With whomever would like to check

it out with me, but it was just a really what

I find so interesting now is looking at the landscape

of the dating scene now that I'm in a long -term

relationship slash engaged because comparing

dating to what it was when I you know first started

you know back in 99 2000 to what it is now it's

just gotten scarier and scarier it has I don't

particularly follow any shows that have that

but that's only because I've not been single

since I mean 17. It's not that I'm following

this because I'm in a committed relationship,

that's all there is to it, but it's one of those

things where my interest is, Pete, to see how

people deal with dating nowadays compared to,

like I said, 10, 15 years ago, because for me,

it was easy. you know finding Jen and having

conversations and becoming friends and then you

know everything else so at least it was easy

this time you know so it's one of those things

where I like seeing the other it's kind of like

when your life is so screwed up you find pleasure

in watching the screwed up world of the Kardashians

it's that kind of thing but it's a little bit

more intelligent than that If that makes any

sense. And like I said, it's 12 episodes and

the episodes themselves are 10 to 12 minutes

apiece. So it's not like it's a 30 minute comedy

or an hour drama or anything like that and I

went through it in one night. Went through all

12 episodes in one night because it was just

so interesting to me. I don't even know how we

got onto this bandwagon. Like, I've been known

to, uh... We were all known to do those things.

Transformers Network ad that I was trying to

cast. Still hadn't found anybody that sounds

just like the characters. So, uh... I just had

to turn in my lines for Megatron as David Kay.

And, um... I got the Headmasters... voice actor

That does Victor Karolyi to do Victor Karolyi

mm -hmm for the video because I was like it wasn't

really specified like The webmaster the site

was just kind of like this is the ad these are

the lines Cast it and then I'll give you the

money, and you just send him the money, and I

was like okay, and then Yeah, so I and they said

or you can do all three and then just keep the

amount for the you know, and I was like I Was

like, yeah, I want okay But it felt like a sleazebag

if I did that. Yeah So like at the same time

I was like I do know people They can do these

Unfortunately, like I can't exactly it's not

like a monumental amount of money or anything.

It's like pocket change, but still, it's something.

I didn't want to really do anything with it that

could be, I don't know, I didn't want to choose

anybody to do the voices that were paid professionals

in the acting industry because I wouldn't be

paying them what they're worth at that point.

So, like, I'm doing Optimus Prime as well, because

I can do somewhat of a passable Optimus Prime.

As long as I rehearse the lines first, I can

pretty much do Prime. Megatron is, like, that's

in my sleep. And then Victor Karoly, I can somewhat

do too, but I kind of have to, like, I would

literally have to mimic his voice word for word.

and then cut it together because I can't do it

in an entire sentence yet for him. So I was like,

I do know that this guy who he's currently in

charge of the Headmasters Fandub project that

I've been a member of since 2005, it was the

year 2005. So they, Yeah, I've anyways I've been

friends with a lot of those guys and I thought

of him to do the The vocals for Corolla and so

he's like, yeah, I'll do it. I was like awesome

so Do we want to take a quick break school? Yes,

we're gonna take a quick break we're gonna come

back with some final thoughts and some other

things other news item What else you guys got

yes, let's go What else you got? I'm so glad

you asked. Only other rule of Superhero Fight

Club. Never ask for more Fight Club. Oh my monkey!

Bad monkey. And we're back to the last half of

the Altered Keep podcast. So what was it that

you wanted to bring up? You know, I'm just playing

how is it all about me So since we did talk a

little bit of politics here I wanted to bring

up funny image I saw on Facebook from some Somebody

if somebody shares something on Facebook and

I find it funny. I will share their post Whether

it comes from them or whether they shared it

from somebody else and apparently this This came

for came from politics photo. So politicked Sniffle

grab a puss. It's kind of like snuffle up against

from Sesame Street. So sniffle grab a puss I

Know right Talk about being Talk about being

on the low road. That's just so wrong. That's

just, that's horrible. I mean, I know he said

worse, but that's, that's why this whole election

is just like a giant like troll, giant internet

troll. I just, I don't even know. feel like we're

being like punked I don't know yeah this this

nation is screwed next four years yeah not like

we haven't been screwed the last eight years

well I think we're gonna get alright so for the

next four years doesn't matter which one gets

in So should we talk about I don't know when

this is actually going to happen Because I know

it's gonna happen before the end of the year,

but I don't know exactly specifics, but we have

been teasing The GCR ends top 100 animated characters

where we have made versus images or Steve has

made versus images of characters We started promoting

this on the 15th of this month. It'll go the

promotional go through November probably I'm

not sure exactly when the podcasts are gonna

air but but yeah we've been doing these animated

matchups like Roger Rabbit versus Jessica Rabbit

well you know who wins that one yeah yeah obviously

she has a bunch of booby traps Optimus Prime

versus He -Man where one of our fans slash listeners

Basically told us that he would rather as a kid

he played with with actual dolls versus action

figures which to each their own he just uh Yeah

to each their own well. I'm not trying to throw

this person under the bus I'm not gonna mention

his name, but he knows who he is Get some edumacation

dude at least give it a shot. I don't think that

it's unfair to judge something And we've been

nitpicked at because of this to nitpick on a

franchise or a character or type of character

if you haven't watched enough of the material

and given it an honest chance because we've both

been hit with that shovel. Oh, yeah. Well, you

have asked me several times of different things.

Like sometimes in the news stories for Altered

Geek, you'll say, oh, this is a promotional picture.

This is this. normally I used to just judge it

off of that but for me whether it's a cartoon

whether it's a movie whatever it is I have to

if it's something visual I have to see a first

trailer before I can really make any judgment

calls whether I'm going to be interested or not

in something and you know we did this a while

ago where we had the image of what certain What's

her nuts? Elizabeth Perkin, whoever the hell

the Rita Repulsa chick is gonna be. Where they

showed off an image of Rita Repulsa from the

20s. Banks, Perkins, whatever, yeah. Yeah, she

was, I think she was the mother in Cats and Dogs,

I don't know. But yeah, Elizabeth Banks as Rita

Repulsa. And I'm like, yeah, okay. still need

to see it in action before I make an actual judgment

call and we have seen now the first teaser trailer

for the Power Rangers 2017 film. Have you? I

was pleasantly surprised. So was I because they

that's a teaser teaser trailer folks they show

a little bit they don't show too much they give

you a general over thing without spoiling anything.

The only thing is I think these actors are like

if anyone remembers the original Power Rangers

cast most of them like I know for a fact Tommy

was in his Early to mid 20s. I think he was around

20 21 22 when he was Jason David Frank was when

he was playing Tommy Oliver in the original Power

Rangers series I think these kids ages and I

don't know because I haven't looked at there

at the actors but I think they're a little too

on the nose because it just The whole trailer

just seemed to be modern a dude. I don't know

We're not the demographic. I blame so it's it's

not meant to appeal to our stylistic choices

Yeah, I blame Twilight sparkly vampires I didn't

mind it. I didn't like how they morphed It's

very cool ask and I did not like Chronicle yeah,

so I did like most the trailer, so I am giving

it props. I want to see Zordon in Alpha. That's

two things I really want to see. Obviously the

movie's not coming out yet, so I can wait. But

I definitely... I'm not I'm not a hundred percent

sold on it, but I'm more sold on it than I was

when I initially saw the the uniforms and the

Zords So there's that Yep, but I think that's

about it. Yeah this week I Think I'm gonna end

it off on this note Only because it's funny to

me I saw something somebody posted on Facebook

and It's probably the best meme if you hate politics

If Trump and Hillary are stranded on a boat in

the middle of the ocean who survives America.

America survives. And with that, we'll catch

you next week. So until next time, get altered,

get geeky, with the Altered Geeks.
