You're tuned in to Steve Megatron on Altered

Geek Unlimited Hello and welcome to Altered Geek

Unlimited I'm your host Steve Megatron Phillips

and nobody's joining me yet on this show We are

going to be jumping in another set of segments

today So I just kind of want Before we get into

anything specific with the show What are you

guys thoughts on on the segmented show compared

to the full show or the kind of? Alternating

show like where it's segmented one week and then

another week. It's kind of like two big segments

instead Just kind of curious on what your guys

thoughts on that are I've I've been kind of toying

around with it and I find that I kind of enjoy

the the segmented version of the show better

only because it gives me a multitude of different

topics to talk about in that Feel like I'm pigeon

-holed into a certain area Or or have the conversation

drag on too long when it probably shouldn't I

just I find that that that makes it a little

bit easier on me Anyway, so I'm just kind of

curious which you guys think on the subject Because

I've been I've been kind of toying around with

the show and Regardless I've been having fun

with it. So that being said There's been quite

a bit of geek news coming up over the past week.

I've been kind of following some of it, some

of it not so much. It just kind of depends. So

I'll cover that in the next segment of the AGNN,

and then we'll cover some other topics with TFG1

Mike and possibly somebody else. I do have some

geek news. I do have an app. that's that's been

released that's actually it's been a couple weeks

Aliens 30th anniversary crate So yeah, check

that out. It will be back after the break You're

listening to the Altered Geek News Network Welcome

back to the AGNN or Altered Geek News Network

This is in no particular order today because

I didn't want to go through and and kind of organize

them into categories so that it's just going

to be a run -of -the -mill of everything that

I have. So yeah, first up is Google and Fiat

Chrysler are reportedly partnering on autonomous

cars. Now I don't know about you, but I'm kind

of a little leery of this idea. I'm not a fan

of a computer thinking for me. Because no matter

how well the computer drives it still can't predict

the stupidity of a human being And I say that

with the utmost love because people Don't pay

attention when they're on the road Like I I myself

have had bouts of where I've not paid attention

or I played on my phone or I've done something

like that now Since becoming a parent. I don't

pay attention to the light The electronics as

much like yeah, I'll have my music on but like

I'm more paying attention to the road Sometimes

something in the you know scenery, you know Like

construction or a building missing or something

will catch my eyes But for the most part I kind

of keep to the road that being said getting back

on topic It says alphabet or Google's parent

company as they're now called is working a technical

partnership with Fiat Chrysler They're in the

late stages as means we could hear about a deal

sooner than later It says that they they want

to get into building cars obviously since they've

been trying to do the autonomous thing And then

the huge amount of cash coming from either side.

I think that this could be Interesting and especially

with the the way that they're showing it with

like a smart car type of setup however, I'm not

I Think that it will work well in in towns where

it's kind of busy and it would be easier to have

machines all automated in that. But I also want

to wonder how well that would go with having

a million signals going at once of a car being

automatically driven by GPS. Because you're talking

about a device much in the vein of a cell phone.

I mean, we can't even get cell phone signals

correct. Portions in the United States so getting

a car to function. That's Yeah, I'm not Not too

keen on the idea at this point in time, but you

never know I mean it could could work out great.

I don't know I just that's not one of them things

that I'm really enthusiastic about even though

I think it's an interesting concept Next on the

the list here we have MVC Universal acquires

Dreamworks animation for 3 .8 billion dollars

Now, what does this mean for you? It means that

probably you're gonna see some animated stuff,

you know. First of all, Comcast owns Universal

and NBC. So that's already another notch in their

belt. Not only are they a cable carrier, they

own Universal Pictures, they own NBC, the TV

division, and then they own DreamWorks, which

is animation. So they're essentially setting

up to be the next like Disney in a sense but

from like a Different perspective like they're

a cable carrier instead of being Just an entertainment

provider so It's yeah, it's gonna be kind of

interesting to see what happens there. I know

Dreamworks wasn't doing all that hot the last

few years with some subpar releases so You know,

it could be interesting to see who remains as

a part of this deal or as a part of consultation

to it. And I wonder how well that's going to

bode for the DreamWorks deals that they have

going with Paramount and with Warner Brothers

at this present time, being that they'll be now

exclusively with Universal. So it may prove to

be a... A shot of fresh energy to DreamWorks

here. Much in the vein that Disney Animation

is now kind of doing some of the stuff that Pixar

would have previously done. With Pixar coming

out with all of their sequels, it's going to

be DreamWorks moved more or less to try and dethrone

them. So this could be a good thing in giving

them a new creative pool and a new source of

income in marketing through Comcast. Could be

really interesting there Moving on people are

making a big deal about this and I get it But

it's another one of those internet making a mountain

out of a mole hole things Will Ferrell is set

to play another president and in this one. It's

it's Ronald Reagan and I Get where people are

getting irritated at this because it's a part

of the marketing. They're doing it kind of weird.

I can see that he's playing the president. He's

done George W. Bush before in various levels,

but he's gonna be playing Ronald Reagan, but

it's gonna be the beginning to suffer from dementia

part, and they're having an intern giving him

the task of convincing. the president that he's

nothing more than an actor playing the president

for a movie role. So essentially they're making

him think that even though he's the president,

he's not the president, he's an actor playing

a president. So you've got almost this Tropic

Thunder -ish type thing with Robert Downey Jr.

where you have a dude playing a dude playing

another dude disguised as another dude. So that's

almost what you got going on here. But they're

marketing this movie. as a dementia or a comedy

of, you know, dementia comedy, which isn't really

that. I get where people are getting irritated

about it because it's making fun of the illness

and people that have had to go through the taking

care of somebody that has this severe illness.

It's not fun for them or their families or anybody

that knows any of that. So I think that that

was kind of a poor choice there. I mean, I think

that the premise could be interesting, but the

fact that they're, I don't know, like, because

Ronald Reagan is one of those most revered presidents

that everybody just loves, so it's kind of one

of those touchy subjects that it makes it difficult

for people to kind of put a finger on it, especially

with Will Ferrell involved, because none of his,

he's like, It's like him and in Adam Sandler

just have this this beat of just crap movies

lately And when I say that I mean like even Adam

Sandler like I I'm not hiding the fact I'm a

fan of Adam Sandler But a lot of his recent years

stuff has been utter garbage. I enjoyed pixels

for what it was. Was it a great movie? No, was

it entertaining? Yes the ridiculous six that

was a I wish I could take back that hour and

a half of my life. Unfortunately, I decided to

sit through it when my wife had the good conscience

to shut it off ten minutes in and I watched it

because I just had to know how bad it was and

it was as bad as advertised. So yeah, I see that

this being a crapshoot movie and I think that

people that really love Ronald Reagan or have

had family suffer from dementia are gonna heavily

pay in this movie. And I think that it probably

will bomb in much the sense of like the Zoolander

2, the stupid comedy type stuff from the 90s

that doesn't really play out well now. But time

can tell. Then we have the X -Men Apocalypse

trailer. And the reason this is making such a

huge, huge hit right now is because we have at

the very, very tail end of it, you have Raven

Aka Mystique with these coming into what looks

like this prison and you have Cyclops and Jean

Grey and a bunch of bodies on the ground and

she says well it looks like you guys took care

of this and Cyclops is like well we had some

help and then you see this arm with three claws

shoot out in the side of the screen and guys

racing towards you know like almost like a flashback

thing of Wolverine breaking out of here And I

think it's going to be strikers based with Weapon

X. You're going to see that taking place. And

that's how Wolverine's got his claws and why

they're breaking out. Because if you remember

in the Wolverine Origins, they had like Jean

Grey and Cyclops and those guys all in this underground

bunker of strikers that were rescued by... Professor

X and Wolverine during this this scenario while

Wolverine was fighting Deadpool the crap Deadpool,

so I think that it's gonna tie in in that regard

I I personally This is the only reason I'm gonna

go see this movie at this point. It's because

Wolverine is in it and That is really my only

draw to the x -men franchise is Wolverine at

this point. I don't care about the rest of them

I know that's kind of crap to say but I've gotten

this, I'm getting like a superhero fatigue in

a sense, and it's not like that I don't enjoy

the movies, it's that I don't enjoy certain characters

anymore, or seeing these groups of characters,

which I think that's where Marvel kind of excels

is they're introducing new characters, and Fox

is too to some degree, but they're not really

introducing new characters. And to me the Wolverine

thing is as much of a draw as Iron Man is in

the Marvel films and once Iron Man's gone I'm

either gonna have to pick a new hero to follow

in the Marvel universe. I'm gonna have to just

step away because I don't I Don't care about

a lot of them like I like Captain America. I

like you know Black Widow, I like Ant -Man. I

like you know I like some of the characters I

like them, but I don't like them enough to like

go out of my way So if there's a draw to something

else, I'll go towards it. And the same thing

goes with DC. I think that the DC films are not

very good, especially in recent years. I have

not enjoyed a DC film, actually enjoyed it enough

to watch it more than a couple times. Whereas

Marvel films, I can sit there and watch a couple

times if I enjoy it. And the same thing with

Wolverine movies. I can do that too, but... That

being neither here nor there. I think the X -Men

apocalypse film will be good only because I see

Wolverine and I see Mystique taking a center

role and things like that. That probably is going

to turn out pretty well. The only thing that

kind of makes me a little iffy on it is the fact

Civil War is going to probably destroy every

other superhero movie this year. I'm hoping it

turns out well, and there's been a bunch of castings

for Wolverine 3, but I'm not gonna highlight

any of that I'll let cinema geeks cover that

if they feel like it. I I don't personally care

on that that regard But speaking of characters

I enjoy Iron Man or Robert Downey Jr. Says he

could do one more Iron Man film Which was I don't

know if it was taken out of context or if it

was kind of brought up During an interview, but

he says You know how close he is to the Marvel

Cinematic Universe and being the kind of rock

of their organization. It's funny when he says,

I can carry a film by myself as Iron Man. That's

why, after toeing the line of no Iron Man 4 happening,

he was surprised for Downing to change his tune,

saying, I feel like I could do one more. Would

be interesting to see him do because he's in

his 50s now So it's but I don't think anybody

would complain if we got another Iron Man film

And and you're getting to the point too where

a lot of these actors have grown comfortable

and enjoyed the roles and enjoyed the money,

you know, even Chris Evans has gotten to the

point where he's like, you know my contracts

up and I only have so many more films left and

I'm kind of scared and I want to do more, you

know, so I don't think that Marvel is gonna Get

rid of them as long as the actors are wanting

to stay in the story promotes it. I think that

they'll keep bringing them on because They're

moneymakers man. It's it's it's all about the

money, but I could still deal with the the superhero

thing. It's I Enjoyed either way so getting back

to some more we have of course You see television.

I don't know if I'm spoiling this it for anybody,

but if you haven't watched arrow this week just

skip ahead about Two minutes, and I'm probably

gonna talk about it for about two minutes Spoiler

alert First not really spoiler alert yet. It's

been a couple weeks. You should know never mind

It's you know we all know Laura Lance the black

canary dies. Well. They've got in canary cry.

It's not It's not anybody that we've really been

introduced to before that's doing the canary

cry and there's something significant with this

and You're getting to see characters almost go

over the edge and Oliver being the one of reason

here So it's kind of interesting and then you

finally get to see the payoff of the beginning

of the season where you see the grave and you

see Oliver standing over it and Barry standing

there and it's of note that you see unlike the

the beginning of the season You get the before

and after of them walking up to the grave and

you see Oliver asked Barry is like you know zoom

and Barry's like yep, and then they talk and

then he's like is there anything I can do and

Oliver's like leave and so Barry goes zipping

off with his speed so obviously we know he's

gonna get his speed back with another particle

accelerator explosion and then you know it's

a very emotional moment in the limo where You

have, um, Felicity telling Oliver, you know what

you have to do. You have to kill, you know, Damien

Dark. And he says, I don't know if I can. And

she's like, you always find a way. And then so

it kind of cuts off. So it was a very emotional

scene. Like, and you can get the, you know, the,

you got a lot of the heartfelt throughout the

episode. So it was very... I think it was very

well written and a good send -off for a character

without having to bring her back. They did a

lot of flashbacks, but it was significant to

the story. There was no more Lee -Anne, you junk.

So it was really cool. Getting into a little

of Legends of Tomorrow bit, we have, of course

they're going to capture Vandal Savage by the

end. They're probably not going to kill him.

They'll probably take him to the Vanishing Point,

put him on trial. And there's an interview where

the guys, Phil Klemer on the show is asked what

they're gonna attempt with season two and it

says that season two, they're gonna come at it

from a completely different angle, determined

to make every part of season two feel like its

own show. Episode 201 will very much be a new

pilot with new good guys, new bad guys, new stakes,

new dynamics, new goals. The team will basically

have to find a new purpose once you save the

world. What do you do then? It's sort of the

question of after you've won a Super Bowl, what

do you do from there? The fact that the world

was in peril sort of faced our team to fall into

its own dysfunctional version of lockstep. So

it says season two, they're not going to be hunted

by the Time Masters, no longer going to be burdened

with having to save the world. It's no longer

going to be about saving Miranda and Jonas. Season

two is going to be different tone. They're going

to have a totally different purpose for season

two. So this is our new faces new everything

so that makes me excited because it means we

could get a whole new group like we talked a

couple weeks ago of Kind of mixing up the bag

a little bit and playing playing marbles basically

and seeing what What color marble we grab and

and so on so? Getting into another trailer we

have the killing joke which Of course, that was

released prior, but we actually get to see a

little bit more of it. It's pretty awesome. Go

watch that. I'm not even going to comment. It

just looks cool. The Nintendo NX will be available

in March 2017. And a couple people have been

kind of a little bit miffed by this because of

the fact that they're going to have the Zelda

game come out with it at the same time, but it's

also going to be released for the Wii U. at the

same exact time as the launch title of the new

gaming system, which I think is kind of a misstep.

Now, I'm not one for spending money, I'm not

one for, you know, I love compatibility, I love

the fact that when certain games come out for

the 360 or, you know, did come out for the 360

before they discontinued it, and they came out

for the Xbox One at the same time, I was pretty

happy about it. Now, with Arkham Knight, it came

out exclusively for You know the ps4 and xbox

one and not the 360 so It kind of made that gap

there that you have to get the new systems if

you're going to play the game That's kind of

what I think should be happening with nintendo

because nintendo's trying to pander too much

to the wii u which was I'm, sorry a failed experiment

The wii was a huge experiment and it paid off

well because it was different It may not have

had the graphics, but it had a totally different

dynamic the wii u The only thing that I can see

that's nice about it is you can transfer your

game to that handheld. Other than that, I don't

really see a reason in buying it. It's not one

of those gaming systems where I just had to have

it. I wanted it mostly because of three games,

and that's pretty sad. Now, if I could get the

Xbox One for cheap or nothing, I would probably

get it, because I like the Xbox, and it's one

of my favorite gaming systems. So I play the

crap out of my 360 but in this regard I think

Nintendo's just I don't think they know what

they're doing anymore I think they're they're

almost at the base that Sega was in when they

were falling off the ship and They're saying

that the MX is a brand new thing. It's going

to replace both the Wii U and the 3ds The console

will come with a gamepad that you can use as

a portable console when you're not in front of

the TV Which again is the same thing? And it

says that uh You know that the 3ds is successful,

but it was launched five years ago sales are

slipping. You know you have smartphones So I

mean it's it's I Can get completely you know

this getting away from it, so I? Don't know I'm

I'm hoping Nintendo pulls through because they

do have some good stuff, but I think they almost

need to stop focusing on the console itself and

just Distribute software at this point because

I don't really I Don't find myself enjoying that

much of it I mean their handhelds are about the

only place where it's at for them. I There their

consoles themselves. I don't enjoy And even their

handhelds to some degree. I don't really enjoy

So it's kind of I don't know it's kind of sad

to me So and I'm gonna try and finish up this

this AGNN here Mostly because, well, I've been

going on for a while. I find it difficult sometimes

to gather my thoughts. It's one of those weird

things of the internet just overloading my brain.

So there's a new streaming service that could

have the largest classic film library ever assembled

online. It's called Filmstruck. And it says that

a collaboration between Turner and Criterion

was met with a sigh. Part of the development

of the new streaming channel, Criterion, would

be ending their relationship with Hulu and Hulu

Plus subscribers, so they'd be losing over 500

films currently available exclusively through

Criterion. It says their parent company, Janus

Films, holds the U .S. rights to some of the

most important films in cinematic history. A

whole swath of sight and sounds, 50 greatest

films of all time, are in Criterion's catalog,

as well as a whole glut of other Incredible films

that are otherwise available only very via very

expensive blu -rays Yeah, it's pretty much stuff

pre 1986 So yeah, they're not saying what part

of the library is on there or What stuff's gonna

be shot where on the internet? But yeah Hulu

is gonna be losing criterion content So yeah,

it could be a good place to go if you want some

of the foreign films, silent films, old films,

classics. I'll probably check it out when it

comes out just because I want to see what's on

it. So yeah, check into that when that service

comes out. So yeah, I think I'm going to call

it good on the... The AGN in this week other

than the fact that I'm really looking forward

to prison make break five season five There's

been a lot of stuff dropping on that mostly just

images teasing it. I don't Either way, I'm just

I'm excited for it. So yeah, we'll be back with

the the altered tech section right after this

Welcome back to altered tech I Received this

question online actually From scanner 51 on Twitter

and he was asking he says I have two computers

telling me to upgrade to Windows 10 I have a

lot of pictures saved to the computers will upgrading

kill the pictures or any of my folders Now, I

will say this, if you are a Windows 7 or 8 or

8 .1 user, the way that the systems are designed,

and Vista might be the same way, but I'm not

totally sure on that, the way they're designed

is to more or less, each version is like a layering

patch that you have this base of the older version,

whether it be 7, 8, 8 .1, and it more or less

layers itself on top of what's already there.

So there's no sidestepping really to what's in

it. You don't lose anything. Certain programs

may not work based on the operating system. You

might have to get an up -to -date version or

new drivers or something. But your stuff will

stay. I upgraded, and mind you, I have a Windows

7 PC here at work. I... Upgraded that machine

when Windows 10 first came out and I upgraded

it just to try it out It was like four days after

Windows 10 came out. I wanted to see how it worked

before I did it at home and Because I have a

window I had a Windows 7 Pro or Home Edition

at home and I had Windows 7 Pro here at work

And then I also had a Windows 8 .1 machine at

home, which was upgraded from 8 And so I tried

it here at work upgraded to 10 Course when it

first came out ten was real buggy. I had Like

Microsoft Edge browser was garbage the system

font redefaulted to one of my crazy fonts I use

for art and then I Couldn't change it other than

removing the font itself, and then it found a

different font to replace it It didn't use like

a normal like Times New Roman or Ariel or Perdana

or something or You know anything like that so

that aside Didn't lose anything. I did it at

work. I used the only thing that didn't work

was one drive didn't work properly The antivirus

Microsoft security essentials went away I Lost

the start menu when it first came on but that

was again that was originally on there So I tried

it on my eight eight point one computer, which

is laptop well Laptops with Windows 10 unless

they're designed specifically for 10 I wouldn't

recommend it only because it heats up your battery

and it eats it faster. Which I can't explain

because Windows 10 actually loads faster than

Windows 8 or 8 .1. It loads infinitely faster

than Windows 7. If you have Windows 7, you might

as well upgrade to 10. If you got 8 .1 and you're

fine with it and you enjoy it, then great, just

keep with that. Because I eventually had to downgrade

my laptop after about 12 days. To Windows 8 .1

again because and mind you I backed everything

out before I did the upgrade because you never

know Windows updates work 98 % of the time then

that 2 % you could just lose the whole system

But I had I had family photos on there. I had

mp4s. I had mp3s. I had Software I had games

it all stayed Lost nothing and then I when I

rebuilt my computer and I put a solid state hard

drive in it which I will say if you get a solid

state hard drive and You can pick them up on

Amazon like a Kingston solid state for like 50

bucks They're like 120 gig which isn't as big

as like say a terabyte drive you can get for

50 bucks But the speed level on it any program

you're gonna run. It's gonna run insanely fast

After I installed that my computer loaded I can

boot it up and within 10 seconds, Windows is

done loading and I'm like, I'm ready to go. There's

no, it would take me 10 minutes on Windows 7

with a 5400 RPM 500 gig hard drive. And the minute

I put that 120 gig solid state drive in there

in Windows 10, my computer boots in literally

10 seconds. Shuts off in like five. Which my

Windows 7 would take like five minutes to turn

off Compared to the ten minutes turn on so I

definitely recommend Windows 10 It you know if

you get it it's it you're gonna be fine I would

still recommend getting a external hard drive

regardless and backing your stuff up But if you're

fine with Windows 7 or Windows 8 just keep it

for now eventually. It's gonna force you to upgrade

it anyway Because even here at work, I have to,

because the way our software works for programming

cars, I have to prevent constantly. Because it

pushes a Windows notification to auto -update

Windows, and it will do it on its own. That is

the only sneaky thing I don't like about Windows

10 is they're trying to push it so hard. that

if you don't have it they get to the point where

there's an auto -update and a side no if it auto

-updates and you don't want it you can tell it

when it asks you to agree on it you can tell

it no and it will actually revert back to your

previous system you actually will lose nothing

I lost nothing I have all my files I don't I

I would say that you would be safe but like I

said I don't want to stake everything on it I

would say still back up First or if you have

a Microsoft account and you have one drive You

get more space on that than you do on Dropbox.

So I would I would say to use that But yeah,

you're gonna be fine though with Windows 10 I

have Windows 10. Like I said at my tower at home.

I love it It's fine. All my software still works

all my games work. I play battlefield 4 on it

I play I edit all my podcasts on I record them

on there. I'm you know, it's There's there's

literally no reason at this point not to upgrade

to 10 Unless you just don't want to upgrade so

So yeah, I hope that answers the question I'm

kind of curious to hear your how your thing goes

with it I thought it was kind of an interesting

topic because I've been kind of wanting to cover

something tech for a while So that kind of gave

me a good window. So thank you again scanner

51 for the for the awesome topic of Windows 10.

So with that, going to move on to another segment

could have been a part of Altered Tech, however,

I'm going to do this as Altered Apps. So, the

app that I'm going to be bringing out today is

actually one that came out two weeks ago, and

it was the Dragon Fruit app. It has fully launched

from Ori, I don't know if you remember him, he

was guested on an episode a few... a few months

back. It is now available for iOS and Android.

I've downloaded it on my Android. I've played

around with it. It's actually a pretty neat app.

I actually enjoy the app version more than the

desktop version, even though it's practically

the same thing. It's just easier to navigate

on the app version. It's good if you want it

for geek dating, but it's also good if you want

it for just connecting with people of fellow

interests. I haven't yet had anybody reach out

from it to try and just connect and converse

out of it. Just as a purely friendly platonic

friend thing. But I tried it out and I think

that the app's pretty good. I think that they

definitely took their time with it. It's not

rushed. It doesn't crash. I tried a few different

things. I tried editing my profile. It's definitely

well thought out. And I would say that if you're

looking for that geeky connection and looking

for somebody that you'd like to hang out with

or just meet or just looking for that geeky friend

that shares the same interests as you, check

out the Dragon Fruit app. I'm in no way being

paid to say this. I'm just legitimately reviewing

the item. So yeah, check it out. And we'll be

back after this. TFG1 Mike and Birdman Dodd in

this segment, which we will be talking about

a couple of different topics tonight. So, yes.

Jumping into the first one, that's... It's one

that, and I saw a video on it like a couple weeks

ago, and I kind of wanted to bring it up, but

it hadn't had an opportunity to rise out yet

until now. It has to do with the... consistent

thing that seems to be popping up all across

geek culture and Mind you I don't necessarily

have a problem with it except for the fact that

everybody's doing it now and it's the like the

patreon type services and What I'm getting by

this is is not necessarily that Again, I don't

disapprove of it or or hate on anybody that uses

it. I just find it a little bit I Don't know

I I find it a little bit annoying that there's

constantly something that somebody's like hey,

give me money Hey, give me money for me to do

something. I'm gonna do anyway And I feel like

it's kind of wrong to be trying to Charge people

for stuff. You're gonna do anyway. I don't know.

What do you guys thoughts on it? See, I've got

no problem with patrons I actually support several

and I'm of the camp if you're if you're good

at something never do it for For free you're

basically paying the artist directly. I mean,

it's like if you like a TV show or you like a

performance you pay for it so if you there's

a particular show on say youtube or on full screen

or wherever yeah you toss a few bucks you get

some extra content you you get whatever you pay

for so i don't see a problem with them because

several of my friends run very successful patreons

a couple of my friends are making near five grand

a month doing it so it's just an alternate it's

the way that new media is kind of going i mean

yeah you may be doing it for free But corporate

media may not want to pay you. So why not have

your audience pay directly for you to be compensated

for what you're going to do anyway? Yeah. And

with Patreon specifically, most of them have

and other like I've seen GoFundMe's have this

and Kickstarter's have this. They have different

tiers that you can donate different amounts and

you get a reward like some of the patrons I've

seen if you donate. Five dollars or less you

get an honor. Thank you or something or if you

donate ten dollars You'll you know you can make

up what your own you can make up what your own

rewards are You know It's been around for years

and years and years I I know a guy who just started

using it after bottom us he's a been doing YouTube

for years and years now and he's he's got a very

big fan base but he told me that it doesn't really

add a whole lot to his income so I don't know

I wish I could have grabbed him to have him on

here with this, but it's just one of those things

where he said it doesn't really add too much

to his, so I don't know how. I don't know what

show your friend's doing that he's getting five

grand a month. They're ones that are retarded

popular. I mean, one of my friends, Noah Antwiler,

does a show called The Spoonie Experiment. He's

pulling in $2 ,500 a month. Couple of my other

friends who run more successful stuff. I know

Jimquisition, Jim Sterling pulls in a fair chunk.

In fact, why don't I look that up while we while

we're kind of talking about this? See, I don't

necessarily have an issue with it. And I'm not

again. It's something I don't know. I just find

it weird that everybody's got their hand out.

And like me personally, have I thought about

doing one? Yes. Yeah, this guy's making ten thousand

dollars a month. From five from just over four

thousand people See and I Again, I mean kudos

to him. But again if like for instance I would

feel I don't know kind of wrong doing it at this

point being that I've been doing this stuff for

free for so long Yeah, but should you not be

compensated for the work that you are putting

in? I Think yes, but I don't necessarily want

to make The fans pay for it. Then who's going

to pay you, Steve? Sponsors. Yeah. But you see,

you don't have the audience to ask for sponsors.

True. We don't. So you need Patreon to show you

have the fans. You have the Patreon. That's a

measurement metric. You can say, OK, there are

5 ,000 people paying $10 a month. for X amount

of content. Let's say you pull in over $2 ,500.

That shows sponsors, you have an audience, you

have a reach. Because the odds are of a sponsor

paying you, unless you have an audience in the

hundreds of thousands, like your rooster tees,

like your machinimas, et cetera, et cetera, the

money's not there and it never will be now. Patreon

GoFundMe, that's the way for the indie artists

to get compensated now. It's just the way it

is because unfortunately new media has evolved

so quickly That the older concepts of having

large companies sponsor you have gone by the

wayside look at a channel like say Revision three

look at game trailers those are sites that were

dependent upon advertising guess what they're

gone Yeah, the other thing with patreon is I

think because I'm not looking at the actual website,

but I think it just says on there It's essentially

a tip jar. If you like what we do and you want

to help us out putting stuff back into what we're

doing, you know, it's never saying that, Oh my

God, we need money. I mean, that's kind of what

it says, but I mean, it really, it's like, okay,

sure. It's here. If you want to support us, great.

It'd be the same thing. What well it basically

depends a lot upon the individuals campaign like

some people for example my friend Connell doc

Dr. Holocaust he pulls in About six seven hundred

dollars. He says With my patreon donate X amount

of dollars. This helps me pay rent so I can donate

more time to doing the show So I only have to

work part -time So it's it vastly depends on

how people want to do it. Like some people say,

excuse me I'll take the production money that

you give me all invested in trips all invested

In sets and other things my other friends who

run patreon for the game chasers. They use the

money they get To produce DVDs. They also use

that money to produce trips to produce more and

more content They also get that as their game

-chasing budget So they're like like it's just

the way unfortunately the way things go now I

know patreon and go fund me take a percentage

of stuff and that's what differentiates Difference

that differentiates them from say kickstarters

kickstarters generally you have 30 days or 90

days or whatever To reach X amount of goal. Otherwise,

you don't get the money runs patreon and go fund

me is ongoing No, see I And I've toyed like I

said, I've toyed around with the concept of it.

I just don't know who would actually You know

put forth the the money for that particular show.

So again, it's Do what you become established

for doing it for so long true and and not saying

that I wouldn't try it out but I guess I would

wait and see what you know other people thought

and Well, see how well it gauges One of the things

I'm doing right now. I can't talk to the specifics

of it one of the projects I'm involved with we're

currently getting ready to launch a Patreon right

now where we can basically Okay, we need to pay

for gas money. We need to pay for the website.

We need to pay for lunch We need to pay for kind

of studio space for when we record certain projects,

so We have to figure out. Okay. What's the milestone?

We need to raise because with patreon you typically

say, okay guys, here's the Reward tiers be at

1 5 10 20 whatever and then your milestones are

what you'd like to reach as a goal like say 100

bucks I can do this 500. I can do this a thousand.

I can do this So it basically it's how you value

your content to your audience But like Mike was

saying sometimes it's just like a tip jar where

sometimes you don't necessarily have to have

a Reward tier you're like, okay guys, if you

want to help me out Here, if you donate five

bucks a month or whatever, because some people

do it by month, some people do it per piece of

content. Like for example, some people say, if

I can get 20 bucks per video, I'll do X sort

of thing. Other people will do it month to month

that they're producing more and more content.

Like for example, you guys, it would make more

sense to do it say as a month to month thing,

sort of a thing. But you have to decide what

are your reward tiers worth to you? Sort of saying

what is the back? I mean like I've thought about

this a lot because another podcast that I've

been paying attention to for Almost ten years

now Earth to net he started doing a patreon for

his shows a few years ago and He mapped out Reward

tiers and like I said, you know if you donate

one to five dollars you get an on -air Thank

you or something like that if it's a $10 thing,

you know He said something about he'll he'll

write a review of a comic that you want him to

write a review of if it's $20 or more you can

you know like suggest a topic for a weekly thing

and my thinking is is that people are gonna pay

for our content if Let's just say for example,

they're paying 30 paying us 30 bucks a month

that would allow them some sort of voice on what

our content is whether that's bringing them in

on an episode of this show or an episode of GCR

where they can add like on Geocast radio if we

have a topic like I'm about to start the top

nine countdowns of the 90s Now, if that person

can't dedicate the time to coming on and making

a list and everything else, but they still want

to have their voice heard, and then they donate

a certain amount of money, they can come on and

have their voice heard. It's not necessarily

like calling into the voicemail line, because

the voicemail line that we have, most of the

voicemail lines through Skype, there's like a

5 to 10 minute time limit. So, if somebody wants

to come on and say, oh, this is what I liked

about the 90s, or this is what I remembered about

the 90s, and they pay a certain price, then they

can come on for 20 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes,

whatever it is. And the higher the price, the

higher the reward should be. You know, I've seen

currently here locally one of the radio DJs,

Carter Mann from 107 .7 The Eagle. he's doing

a gofundme to get himself an iron man's a custom

-made iron man suit so we can go around to hospitals

and stuff like that as iron man because he kind

of looks like Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark

but most of the money that they're getting after

the suit costs is going to family and children's

place charities so you know his his reward tiers

are like you donate 15 bucks you get an iron

man mug and it's essentially a mug with with

him in the Iron Man suit. If you donate, I think

the highest tier is if you donate $500 or more,

he will come to like a birthday party for you

or your kids or something like that. So what

I think, if GCN is going to do it, we need to,

Steve and I need to sit down and figure out what's

going to be most rewarding for each monetary

tier value to our fans and to our listeners.

Plus, you also have to figure out if you offer

physical rewards, how much do you need to make

to break even? Do you produce extra content?

Because you guys have so much coming out, what

can you really offer besides early access? And

that, from a backend standpoint, will make things

a little bit more complicated for Steve. And

that's something that a lot of people who run

Patreons, I think, run into kind of difficulties,

is deciding What do I offer for example one of

the things that another patreon that I follow

Stephen Larson from Machinima they just launched

a wrestling podcast called going in raw and what

they do is They offer a live stream as the shows

going on. Hey watch the show being recorded sometimes

you can Interact with them. I know one thing

because I know me and Steve are the more of the

kind of gamers here, one of the rewards that

could be possible for GCRN is, hey, here's a

game day. Come on out and play. Sort of thing.

And that's something you can offer. I know my

friend, Dr. Holocaust does that for like 20 bucks

a month. You can actually go hang out with him.

Like, hey, come on over. We'll go to like Dave

and Busters. We'll go to a movie or something.

So it's I think the Patreon service has done

a remarkable service for people. It's definitely

changed the nature of what so -called e -bagging

is, because you decide what you want. No one's

got the gun to your head, so to speak, but I

can see where, Steve, you're kind of coming from,

where you feel kind of leery of it. Yeah, I mean,

I, and again, I do feel like people should be

compensated for what they do. I mean, I'd love

to be compensated for it, but at the same time,

like, I don't want to, you know, I think there's

a fine line and I think that the fact that even

at this point you're getting You know cosplayers

doing it you've got you know everybody doing

it. It's There there has to be a line between

the content or hobby well look at this way the

people are speaking with Their money if they

don't want to support you they won't yeah, and

that's and that's yeah, and I get that and that's

Yeah, that's probably why I haven't done it,

but that's I I mean I don't have a problem with

services like Kickstarter because you're getting

like a physical product for something and you

know kind of know So think about how many kick

starters fail that's true to fail to deliver

release with patreon You're kept accountable

month to month and there's a fraud reporting

service for so you don't meet certain reward

tiers Sometimes people can say hey, man what?

What the fuck and call and call call call you

out on it now I don't know what the success rate

is of that because I know of several Patreons

that have fallen behind what they've promised

but they usually keep some kind of an open dialogue

with their patrons who are paying them so But

yeah, I mean it's honestly it's an amazing way

to make a living being a and an entertainer.

Unfortunately, doing Patreon and some of that

can really fuck with your taxes because I know

it's how you report your income is a little bit

sketchy and the IRS and everybody else looks

at you a little more kind of closely. You see,

I mean, I've kind of thought about doing it and

then if I were to do it like offering custom

graphics or offering voice impressions for, you

know, segments of other show or, uh, like commercial

ad type things like I've done for, uh, you know,

turtle flakes doing crank or doing like my Megatron

or doing, you know, stuff like that. But I, that

could also get into gray area too, but I was

about to say, yeah, because then you have to

wonder because you're technically offering someone

else's intellectual property. Yeah. So yeah,

I mean, it's a whole messy thing. And I know

Patreon Well, eventually I mean I am imagine

there's something with the patreon lawyers saying

okay guys you can do xxx and this but you can't

do this Mm -hmm, and they probably catch the

really really bad ones. Although I really can't

say that a hundred percent for certain but There

was one go fund me or something or other That

got shut down like the first day it started like

within the hour. It started I don't Don't even

know what it was, but I remember there was one

that and it wasn't for an entertainment based

reason It was for some other reason. I know there

there was a case up here in Canada very close

to me locally actually in a place called Hamilton,

which is like a it's just a Suburb of Toronto.

Yeah. Yeah more or less. It's like a sister city

and a woman was defrauding go fund me saying

she had cancer and she raised like a couple of

thousand dollars a month for like she must have

got like 25 grand over the course of it too until

people caught on to her. So unfortunately people

do use it for methods of defrauding people and

because it's electronic it's not impossible to

keep that money trail hidden from the government

if you're particularly clever. So it's something

that definitely needs some kind of regulation

for sure because unfortunately There are people

like there I've seen some pretty stupid gofundme's

One of the more stupid ones I've seen are unfortunate.

This was a friend of mine a friend of mine's

boyfriend Help my girlfriend get a dog Help me

in my are justified. One of the more successful

GoFundMes and Kickstarters I've seen is a friend

of mine, Lewis Lincara from Channel Awesome did

a thing. I'm pretty sure it was a GoFundMe for

his Atop the Fourth Wall movie. And I think he

raised $75 ,000 over the course of like three

months. So. Obvious people somehow are claiming.

Oh, he frauded him like no he didn't because

here's the product and he can show you you are

fucking stupid and It's unfortunate though because

for every good go fund me Kickstarter or patreon.

There's ten assholes Yeah, so moving on from

all seriousness from people that are bungholes.

Maybe we should get into the new Tomb Raider?

I would have rather they went with Daisy Ridley.

Because I see her, I do see Lara Croft in her,

at least from the kind of reboot, but even the

chick who the motion capture and the voice is

based upon, the chick from Grey's Anatomy, she

could totally pull it off too. but i guess they

want someone who's a little more high like kind

of profile i've never heard of this person before

so i've heard of the movie she's in which is

um the danish girl and i want to say that was

up for some academy awards don't quote me that

because i don't follow hollywood that that closely

but uh she must have been the lead in x machina

oh she was the robot girl yeah That's probably

why. But I see Daisy Ridley Moore in this, and

that's who I would have picked, but it's not

terrible. I'm really hoping the new reboot either

does the first game, has that story and makes

it amazing, or... does an original story and

kind of jiggles her like origin because the reboot

Tomb Raider I loved. Like one of my best games

of last year was Rise of the Tomb Raider. Definitely

one of the best games available for like Xbox

One and PC right now. I think it comes out on

PS4 later on this year. Yeah I'm I was kind of

on the same boat of I thought it should have

been Daisy Ridley, but I guess we'll see what

this chick can do. Yeah, exactly, because I remember

when all of us were really uncertain about Gal

Gadot as Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman. So

maybe this girl will once again prove us wrong.

And I'm very much looking forward to it because

Lara Croft is a really cool character when you

put her in the right situation, though. We've

already had a Tomb Raider movie. Where the hell

is my Metroid movie? I want Samus Aran and I

want her right goddamn now. That would actually

be cool. And if I had to pick that movie, Charlize

Theron. Give me Furious. Nah. Come on, man. She

was obviously Mad Max. Nah. I don't know. I'd

rather see somebody younger do the role. Maybe.

I could see that too. You cast someone relatively

unknown, but a person who is super athletic.

Yeah, I would have less of a problem with it

then. Yeah, but if I had to cast an older Samus,

yeah, I would definitely cast Charlize Theron.

I'm trying to think of other female video game

characters I'd really like, or like females from

video games I'd really like to see. I'm thinking

here, other properties. I'm just going to look

on my Xbox, like what games do I have right now?

Oh, they screwed up the Resident Evil casting

so bad, but that's a topic for a different day.

Well, that's because the lead chick is married

to the director. Yeah, and you know, that's a

series. I don't know how they managed to stray

so far from the source materialized to make it

unrecognizable. Well, he directed all of them,

so... Ugh, son of a bitch. They were working

in tandem, messing it up together, so... Now,

mind you, if you were to cast a Mass Effect movie.

Oh, I would love to see a Mass Effect movie.

I want a female Commander Shepard. I think it

would make a much more interesting story because

we always have white male protagonist, but the

fem ship, or at least as portrayed by Jennifer

Hale, to me, it was a more emotional story, especially

depending on how you were to craft that particular

story to the big screen. Like, in my opinion.

If I had Fem Shep and Garrus, I'm shipping that

right now. That is those, that is my love couple

right there. Or maybe if I had to take male Shep,

Liar is the obvious choice. But I'd like to see

Tali, because it's different. I just think Tali's

kind of sexy though. But anyway, I'm trying to

think of like other video game characters that

should come live. They could do it Mario Brothers.

Oh, yeah, right that'll never animated only Because

the live -action one just didn't goddamn work

They have never done a Legend of Zelda movie,

which I don't think they ever could. Well, they

have talked about it for a while. I think Zelda

could work, but it may have to be original as

opposed to trying to adapt one of the games,

because I think you'll lose a lot in translation.

They're trying to adapt, say, Ocarina of Time

in two hours. And that's a fairly tall order

in and of itself, because you're trying to adapt

a fairly long game. The only one they could adapt

successfully in in a two -hour span is a link

to the past I think because you can use a montage

you can use a montage of link having to get the

pendants and then he goes after the Master Sword

and that's kind of the big scene and like act

one of the movie and then you know once he has

to save all the crystals and everything else

from the dark like you could adapt it if it was

done right it could be done see if i were to

adapt zelda i would do the first one only simply

because if you look there's a huge book which

is the timeline of zelda it is more convoluted

than what you may actually realize like supposedly

zelda is connect like a link to the past is what

happens if link dies in one future it's so weird

Like it's so interconnected Whereas the first

game save the princess get the triforce. Yay

the end. Um, but if you could take What I think

would be an awesome idea is have make a Legend

of Zelda anime and Do it like they did for say

the animatrix just pick a section from each game

Have a different director take a shot at it and

then whichever one gets the best received, that

gets made. DC tried to do that with Gotham Knight

and it failed miserably. I don't know, I think

parts of that worked, and parts of it didn't.

But ultimately, yeah, I kind of have to say.

One, I'm looking through my games here trying

to find ones with female protagonists. Well,

yeah, while you're looking for that, let's bring

up the fact that we're getting an Angry Birds

movie, yet we've never gotten a Crash Bandicoot

or Spyro the Dragon movie. Come on. Well, we're

getting Ratchet and Clank like today. So that's

something. Well, yeah. I mean, which I've heard

mixed things about that, too. I've actually heard

really good things about it. I hope it doesn't

suck, because I love the idea behind Ratchet

and Clank. I would love to see a Jack and Daxter

movie next. But yeah, I'm really surprised we

haven't gotten Crash Bandicoot. Crash Bandicoot

would have made a perfect Saturday morning cartoon,

yet somehow we got Bubsy. Now, admittedly, it

was a pilot, but still. Spyro would have been

an awesome, like, after school type cartoon,

or even now. Like, hell, like, isn't there supposed

to be like a Skylanders cartoon or something

in the next, like, year or two? I don't know

why I haven't paid attention to Spyro since I

think it was Enter the Dragon I think that was

the game the last game I paid attention to this

whole I can't stand this whole culture of oh

Skylanders you must have toys to play video it's

just I just can't stand that I don't know I like

it because I collect the Lego dimensions and

the Disney Star Wars ones because I think some

of them are just kind of cool but yeah I mean

it It's an interesting idea that I think maybe

got a little too popular too quickly because

Some people that I know on YouTube they do something

called dumpster diving and nine times out of

ten They always find Skylanders in the in the

dumpsters at GameStop Which means I think this

idea is maybe kind of run its course But you

look at the wild success of Lego dimensions In

fact, I need to pick up the new Ghostbusters

set at some point this weekend Again, I don't

know it's it's cool. It's collectible, but maybe

it's a little too much a little over saturation

I Could see that yeah So moving on to another

topic that we have My brother actually linked

me to this The next battlefield is called Eastern

Front And my family follows the Battlefield games.

I mean, some of them used to play Call of Duty,

but we all played Battlefield. In fact, I'm probably

going to do that after the show. I'm actually

playing COD right now. Yeah, I know. Normally,

I'm playing... Once in a while, I'll play Battlefield

while we're recording, but it's few and far between.

Plus, I'm done on my Xbox. But it looks like

that they've dropped the... Information so it's

Eastern Front you're teaming up with the European

allies and in order to push back the Russians

from Eastern Europe and halt the invasion attempts

and then they've also got the information on

some of the expansions and When they're gonna

release and so on so they've got The Eastern

Front then they've got the the Fallen Dragon

pack the prototype warfare Titan assault and

The The last one is Independence Day And then

they've got a list of maps and some of the old

maps are coming back like siege of Shanghai operation

Metro Galman Railways out as a VOD 311 They've

updated them for 2016 and then you've got a bunch

of new maps that Are listed there. I'm still

hoping for operation Metro But yeah, it's definitely

gonna be one of the things I want to get once

it uh comes out it's something that i it it's

kind of funny i was actually watching something

on youtube tonight actually um talking about

the history of the call of duty franchise but

also looking back at stuff like battlefront um

medal of honor etc etc and i remember from basically

2000 to about 2006 every developer, Infinity

Warden, Treyarch was doing World War II stuff.

And now that we've swung into the modern era

with modern warfare than Black Ops and advanced

warfare, now Black Ops 3, now potentially with

infinite warfare for Call of Duty going into

the far future, like space stuff, I do find that

interesting. Now that 10 years plus has passed,

now we're swinging back into World War II. And

I can't say that's necessarily a bad thing, but

I definitely enjoyed the Battlefield games. I

think my favorite was Battlefield 1942, mostly

for the vehicle combat. So I gotta say I'm kind

of looking forward to this one. I will definitely

see more at E3 when everything becomes more public

and everything. Coming out this episode, we're

going to bring up a new segment that TFG1 Mike

is going to head, and this will be the last conversation

of the podcast tonight. Yep. I am starting the

La La Land Lounge. What that is is for the last

three years, I've been doing written reviews

for La La Land Records. They're a soundtrack

company based in Los Angeles. They have... Their

catalog is just so huge. They did the Flash Season

1, Arrow Season 1 to 3 scores. So basically the

segment's gonna be... You're gonna hear 30 seconds

at the beginning and end of each segment of a

selected... piece of whatever score it's going

to be that I'm going to review. And then I'll

spend 10 minutes talking about why I like it

and what I like about it and how many times I've

listened to it and that kind of thing. Over the

three years that I've been working with these

awesome people out there, I wrote two and a half,

three pages on BTAS volume one, two, three, and

one, two, and three. So two and a half pages

for each review. i used to do these really really

in -depth written reviews and i just i don't

have i don't know i don't know what's wrong with

me i just don't have the the ambition to do it

anymore and i think if i do it in an audio form

it'll be better for me to actually vocalize my

opinion than just try to sit here and write it

down as i'm doing it so so yeah that's that's

gonna be coming up uh... here on altered geek

no you definitely sold me mike well it's almost

it's almost midnight damnit i'm freaking tired

no uh... the first one is gonna actually happen

next week they just released uh... last the end

of last month they released the music for batman

mystery of the batwoman for those of you that

don't know that was the direct tv direct dvd

film where they featured batman uh... batwoman

in the batman animated series universe uh...

composed by the leader manas uh... The coolest

thing about this is, along with that feature,

they had a little short called Chase Me, where

it's basically Bruce Wayne being chased by, since

he's a billionaire playboy, he's being chased

by all the women in his life, including Catwoman

and a few other people. So I'm gonna be doing

a review of that, and then I think the week after

next week, in two weeks, I'll be doing Flash

Season 1 and Arrow Season 3. together in the

same review because those scores have flash season

one has flash versus arrow part one and then

arrow season three has flash versus arrow part

two so the crossover that they did for flash

versus arrow that what i love about that as we

all know steve knows this you know this mike

a lot of us a lot of people out there are kind

of iffy on arrow It's kind of an up and down

kind of show. It depends on the week. It depends

on the episode. Um, and, but the crossover stuff,

what I love about it is how Blake Neely, cause

he's the composer on, on all the DC stuff right

now for the television stuff, the way he, melds

the flash music into the aero music, and it's

just a simple cohesion. It's just amazing. I

remember when I first got the flash soundtrack

for the first season of the TV show, you know

the sound effects of Barry's speed? Yeah. I thought

that was just a separate sound effect. It's in

the music. Is that like an instrument making

that sound? I think so, yeah. because it's a

part of the themes, it's a part of the music,

and it's just absolutely awesome. So after I

get those, after I get the next week and the

week after done, what I'm actually gonna do is

I'm gonna go back three years ago to all the

written reviews and I'm gonna update them with

audio reviews. So I think the first one I reviewed

for them was Green Lantern, the animated series

volume one, and that's, ugh. I don't want to

get into the negativity of Cartoon Network, but

that show so deserved more than one season. That

show was amazing, and that music was amazing.

The only soundtrack I've gotten from La La Land

Records, and I'm really glad that they sent this

to me, is they sent me the soundtrack for The

X -Files. I think it was like the first six seasons.

And Mark Snow did some phenomenal work. Yeah

show and that's something a lot of people do

not necessarily pay attention to television soundtracks.

They most definitely should Like you see a lot

of really really good work Come out of them.

Like if you listen to a lot of television by

bear McCree like he does like all the walking

day does Battlestar Galactica and stuff like

that. You get some stuff that Really, more people

should pay attention to. I mean, it wasn't until

I started to get into the X -Files fandom, I

started to pay attention more and more to it.

Another one of my favorite composers was the

guy who did the music for 24, Sean Callery. Phenomenal

stuff. And I want to say the guy, he did music

for the Transformers games. I think his name

is Brian Tyler. He also did music for Assassin's

Creed. And it's Bryan Tyler did it for prime.

He didn't do it for the game. Yeah, like he's

like he is an amazing guy like his stuff on black

flag is some of my all -time favorite stuff too,

though it annoys the crap out of my wife because

of the you know sea shanties, but It's pirate.

What the hell do you expect? Oh, yeah, I've I've

been a huge Die Hard Brian Tyler fan over the

years because the man, I mean, he scored Iron

Man 3, he scored, like I said, Transformers Prime.

He scored a ton of video game stuff. He's done

all the Expendables movies. He's just an amazing,

amazing composer. He really, really is. So yeah,

so that's gonna be coming up. probably since

i'm going to be going back to my archives steve's

probably gonna have uh... wall and land segment

probably every week for the next foreseeable

future uh... because here's what i want to know

is that none of us could be a bulletproof yeah

i was going to do is insert it now all he's going

to do is insert a show -off uh... yes that's

all steve ever does is just show you know that

work uh... uh... so last year just uh... really

quickly give people an idea of what all and release

last year they released uh... like was it two

or three dc universe for the release justice

league atlantis they released uh... justice league

gods and monsters they release the he man scores

for masters universal formation cartoon uh...

Like I said flash season one arrow season three

for Christmas last year they re -released for

the 25th anniversary home alone one They put

out the soundtrack for Krampus So there's that

One I have that I've been dying to get into and

I don't know how I actually emailed the composer

I actually emailed the guy that did the liner

review something that I guess for me, I have

to watch the movie. I like, you know, you take

Mission Impossible Rogue Nation. I interviewed

Joe Kramer, who's the composer on that. But before

I wrote my review, I had to see the movie because

I need to see how the music plays within the

content before I can just sit here and listen

to it. So I emailed John Takis. Or take us for

the, uh... How am I supposed to do Time's Up?

Time's Up is something done by Michael McQuistion,

and it's basically something that was done out

at the planetarium out there in L .A. It was

a planetarium show. I'm like, how am I supposed

to review this if I can't actually see where

it initially happened? He's like, ah, just go

with it. I'm really surprised there's a demand

for the He -Man stuff, because it just seems

so... I don't want to say boring, but I can't

picture sitting down with a cup of coffee listening

to the Filmation He -Man soundtrack. You know

what I'm saying? You're completely in the wrong,

Alex. Oh, yeah. No, no, no. No, seriously, because

people have been demanding this for too... Yeah,

since twenty four twenty thirteen twenty fourteen

two three years now people have wanted this your

buddy James etok that does Serial geek that he

does all the he man stuff and all that stuff

him and his buddy I'm probably gonna screw his

name up, but do son Mitrovic. I believe is how

they have a He man official YouTube channel that

they put all they basically do son recreates

all the music and put it online then the lawland

announcement came up and everybody's like oh

my god oh my god but it's basically it's two

discs it's over a hundred tracks and i actually

interviewed the producer of the thing so maybe

i'll have steve throw the throw the link to the

john takis interview that i did a few years ago

when this first came out but no i mean i was

listening to that stuff like as soon as i got

the disc i was like i need to hear this because

they include different versions of the original

theme. They include the version we all know where

it's He -Man slash Adam doing the vocal. And

then there's a - The Spanish theme is awesome.

There's the Spanish theme. There's one with no

vocal, so it's just the opening theme, just the

music by itself. And then like all the story

cues, like the da -da -da -da -da, you know,

that kind of stuff that opens each episode. on

the title cards there's all that music and there's

music from this no i mean it's it's two discs

of of awesomeness uh no i absolutely love that

that score it's so weird just to say we now live

in an era where this sort of thing is it's expected

now for all shows to have this type of access

for for people i i just find that it's kind of

amazing a little weird but kind of cool out at

the same time because you could make the same

argument for like, say, Star Trek. Like, why

the hell would you want the incidental music,

but me and Steve - You can't be low on records

they've made bank on. They've got like a 10 or

20 disc set of all the TNG music. They've got

the Deep Space Nine music. They've got the, what

is it, Enterprise. They've got all the Star Trek

stuff. Oh yeah, because you look at, because

I know me and Steve - This on future imperfect

me look at all the stuff that Jerry Goldsmith

did all the other composers on show I just it's

kind of cool to see people appreciating this

stuff now See, that's the thing. It's like I'll

go to a movie like okay take take for example

Iron Man 3 I know a lot of people are either

way on Iron Man 3 or whether they like it or

dislike it But take that movie. Okay, you got

Brian Tyler doing the music for it. And like

I said before Need to be able to hear the music

in the context that it was meant for So when

I'm watching Iron Man 3 and I hear part of the

theme come up or I'm sitting through the end

credits to wait for the scene and basically the

final track on the Iron Man 3 score track number

20 is called can you dig it and the first thing

I thought of was Booker T sadly, but Yes, but

it's one of those things where that that end

theme really gets you into it because it's just

a combination. That whole, in sequence of the

credits is basically a compilation of all three

films. So yeah, no, I've always gravitate like,

okay, take for example two, and I know everyone's

gonna roll their eyes when I say this, take two

Tom Cruise movies. You take Days of Thunder and

The Firm. I have been waiting, for The Firm I

had been waiting 20 some odd years and for Days

of Thunder almost... 25 or 30 23 25 years for

those because I love the music from those movies

the firm has such a unique soundtrack and score

to it done by What's his name? It's it's David

something. Oh god. I'm blanking on it now But

anyway, you know, you take that music, and that's

one of the things I'm hoping you do with this

segment, is to broaden everyone's minds on a

lot of the soundtrack and a lot of the film and

television scores that I love. And it's just

gonna be a fun, fun, fun time. And I think it's

gonna bring something new to Altergeek as well,

so. Yep, that's what's going on. Awesome. So...

Before we close out, is there anything you guys

want to promote? Well, today is April 29th. Tomorrow

is International Table Talk Day. April 30th,

So hopefully you guys will go out there check

out either Pathfinder D &D or Something just

go out there and play there's also gonna be stuff

up on YouTube on Will Wheaton's Tabletop channel

stuff like that. So be sure to get out there

get involved. Um Speaking of roleplay games our

long -form game for terrible warriors is gonna

be Dungeons and Dragons Ravenloft. That's the

new setting that just came out based upon the

old classic one from the 80s that should be coming

out. I want to say Monday or Tuesday of next

week on terriblewarriors .com. I'll probably

do something on Tabletop Day this weekend. The

Twig Topics Show will be on Game of Thrones.

That should be the end of next week, as Ryan

is actually in Toronto this week doing some training

for a job. So he's kind of busy, so we're just

waiting for him to do it. Plus, season six just

started, which what a weird episode. But anyway,

yeah, so that's what we got coming up for me

and This Week in Geek. So roll them dice and

winter is coming, my friends. No, actually summer's

coming winter's over. Oh Yep, winter's in the

in the background sadly For me, I've got the

pull bag Coming up. We're gonna do another review

for comics for IDW Beatles Nicole Beatles Diva

and I did a review of IDW's hot damn number one

and Hot damn number two comes out next week.

So that's gonna be interesting I think I mentioned

this last week. It's basically about a guy named

Teddy Graham. Yes, like the actual Teddy Grahams

crackers. Yeah. And he's basically in hell. And

it just, oh, that series is just so visceral

and it's awesome. So that's coming up on the

pull bag. Like I said, I've got the nine top

nines of the nineties. I'm working on that. So

trying to get those produced. Yeah, that's pretty

much it. As for myself, well, I've finally gotten

my script done for class. My semester's over

and I'll be starting a new segment next semester,

actually next week. Managed to write 60 pages.

Nice. Now, Steve, is your school like full year

-round? How does that work for you? There's four

semesters. They have fall winter spring and summer

sessions. Although summer there's nothing that

I can take This is the only time I'll have a

spring session and the only reason I have a spring

session this time is because The teacher is actually

the head of the program so he Let me take some

classes that I technically probably couldn't

have because it's a part of the new version of

the program So I get to skip one of the classes

from the current version I'm on so that I can

be done about this time next year. Because there's

three classes I actually needed that were only

available in fall and winter session. And because

I work full time, I can't double up. Yeah. So

he allowed me to do this. So yeah, I'll actually

be done. Shortly, I know that's not really an

answer to year round. I mean they they run year

round, but it's I don't go year round So but

yeah, I was pretty pumped to get that script

done I got it done Wednesday morning and turned

it in and Yeah, it was it was a lot of fun to

write try and figure it out Some of it went exactly

like I had it planned out in my step outline

and then some of it did not It the story kind

of took off in its own direction so Once I get

a copy written I'll let people read it Means

I got to spend money which which is not a bad

thing So yeah, I mean that don't really have

much else going on I'm kind of messing around

with some website stuff and Got to introduce

some new segments in the show prior to the stuff

that we've just recorded. So it was kind of fun

So, uh, yeah, that's it. So how can the people

get a hold of you on the social medias? And to

join Mike on Twitter, I can reach me on Twitter

uh twitter at at birdman dot same with instagram

and facebook i'm always around everywhere all

the time uh you can also reach me at dice warriors

thing right into the ground so i'm always around

somewhere i don't sleep so communicate with me

They told him to get out. The pills did. So that

about wraps it up this week. So you can get ahold

of me on Twitter at scp21 and until next time

get alter - get geeky with the alter geeks. And

I'm not wearing any pants! That's what she said.

But wait, there's more.
