Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Football Season Review

Hello. What's up, man? What's going on? How are

you? I'm pretty good, pretty good. Yeah, I keep

up with you on Facebook. Yeah, I probably bore

people to death on Facebook with my rants about

comic books and... And my constant... I use Facebook

as a promotional tool. I honestly do for the

Heatcast Radio Network. I very rarely spew any

personal information on there whatsoever. Because

after all, the government does track all that

crap. Well, they're not opposed to it anymore.

Yeah, right. But no, it's not... I mean, it's

not bad that you do that because I always know

when, you know, like the new Nightwing comes

out or the new... Yeah, the new Nightwing. That's...

One more issue which they delayed for a month

and a half Nightwing number 30 is the final issue

of that series anyway We are here to talk about

Power Rangers and ladies and gentlemen I have

an announcement Scotty and I talked about this

off air, but I wanted to give you guys a heads

up here We are currently at episode 43 of From

the Command Center. Now originally I had this

big giant ambitious plan that we would do commentaries

for all of our favorite episodes over the 1920

seasons of the overall series for the American

version of Power Rangers. This year, like last

year, that mattered to me. and i was really interested

in doing it it's not that i don't have fun with

scotty and spada but i have pretty much lost

all interest in power rangers right now um i

i just i don't i basically what it boils down

to folks is the podcast is going to come to an

end before we do that though we're going to give

you episodes 44 through 50 44 we're gonna do

a giant -sized commentary episode with the mutiny

parts 1 through 3 45 will be white light part

1 & 2 46 will be forever red because people will

crucify us if we don't do commentary on that

episode 47 will be dino thunders legacy of power

and back in black 48 will be our overall discussion

of mega force and super mega force whenever super

mega force ends i don't know um 49 will be the

commentary on the legacy episode from super mega

force whatever it's the the one where tommy and

everybody came back to do the mega force reunion

whatever and then episode 50 is going to be a

grand finale uh... basically us discussing what

we love what we don't like about power rangers

and and all that good stuff and just kind of

going over the podcast life span ladies and gentlemen

i believe we have given you what was two years

three years something like that It's been about

a lot I mean, it's probably been a couple years

over the time span, but we've we've taken breaks

and stuff like that But I mean still, you know,

it's you know, we try to entertain you guys why

you guys are At work listening to a podcast or

you know, just on the treadmill or you know,

just burning up time so I mean it has been a

complete fun ride doing this with you and with

Spada and everybody else and it just I'm sorry

number one. I'm never going to relinquish control

of anything I ever create You know you know how

you see on some TV shows that creators will leave

the show I will oh my god that I would never

ever do that You know so the show will end we

may come back and do special episodes here and

there over the years, but it's not gonna be as

frequent as it has been uh... the first episode

uh... episode one was march eleventh twenty eleven

so we've been doing this for a good three years

now you know we've given you guys three years

of podcasts fifty episodes in three years uh...

it's been a complete another blast I just feel

that, you know, we need to walk away while we're

still on top. You know what I mean? Absolutely.

You just get burnt out on this stuff. But anyway,

we don't want to bore them with this. Right.

We'll talk more about it. We still got a couple

of episodes left. And we're just like, this is

it, you know? Oh, yeah. No, no, no. We still

have episodes 44 through 50. But most importantly,

we got football season today. Yes, it is football

season, ladies and gentlemen. So you're gonna

hear our commentary on football season after

the Mighty Morphin Morpher sound after this.

All right, boys and girls. It's my pleasure to

announce the starting offense for this year's

football season. Lights! The new Angel Grove

team first string will be... Jason! Congratulations

to our new team. Oh, no, poor Tommy. You didn't

make the team. Wait. Looks like you dropped something,

Mr. Kaplan. Oh, I'm sorry. I seem to have made

an error here. There are more names. Well, well,

well, well, well, I'm pleasantly surprised. So

let's introduce Bulk. I would like to introduce

to you our new star quarterback, Tommy! I want

a round of applause for our new team! I don't

know how to thank you, Ernie. I never could have

done it without you. You worked hard for this,

Tommy. And I'm really proud of you. I'm tired

of going to the bathroom all these times. Yeah.

I really do like that they, they kept the beginning

the way they did, you know what I mean? Instead

of like flipping it up, you know, they change

it throughout the seasons, which is good, but

yeah, you know, kind of original kind of guy.

Yeah, they, they changed it up in season two

and season three. Right. The reason why they

did that, obviously, is because Jason, Zack,

and Trini are no longer there. Right. But no,

I mean, you know, it's good when series do have

one whole season, like the first season, be the

original intro and outro, and then as a show

goes along, you can change it up if something

new happens or some new event happens. I also

know your secret, Pink Ranger. Oh wait, that's

not this one. No, that's not this one. Oh, jeez.

Oh no, I forgot about this. You know, this show

is really a commentary on how different high

school cliques are, really, because you've got...

Jason and Tommy who are you know athletic and

built and then you've got bulk and skull who?

Bulk oh look out mr. Kaplan Got him What are

the odds of that? And he bit his toupee off Oh

my god your tube if you're this guy and your

toupee comes off 9 ,000 times. It's probably

just to call her quits Yeah, man Oh her head

hurts Mike, yep I think I need like a, I need

a Baboo or like a clan of just like ugly monster

minions that'll do whatever I want. Yeah. I don't

know what I would do with them. I'm not trying

to take over anything. Yeah. They could do podcasts

with us. Yep. We have to get a big old headset

though for Baboo's big giant head. Tell me again

why we're doing football season because of the

bad guy You said at one point it was one of your

favorite episodes because the bad guy Okay, he's

definitely one of my favorite villains Okay.

Well, that's good. Okay. Why didn't I wasn't

sure? Yeah, no, it's it's not like last last

commentary with the grumble because I so totally

pranked Spada with that episode Because he's

always he's always grumbling about stuff on the

internet he's always you know being oh this is

no fun oh you know that this is doing that he's

always grumbling about something and I told him

about that in the podcast and he's like oh you

jerk Come on, let's go play two -on -one flag

football. That'd be fun. Yeah, cool. Yeah. Now,

you guys go play flag football one -on -one.

I don't know why Tommy wants to go out for the

football team in the first place. It's not his

sport. Maybe he's trying to impress a girl. Oh,

she's already there. I mean, come on now. I don't

know what's worse, Tommy having doubts of his

athletic ability or Billy even trying? I know

this is all in fun, but that is some horrible

90s rap music. Billy must be extremely fast.

Yeah. What rules are they playing by? I don't

know. What do I know? He's gonna kick it yep,

I knew he was gonna kick it As much as I like

Tommy as a character this is one of his worst

episodes Oh, jeez. The sad thing is Bulk is learning

more about football than Tommy is. Yep. There's

a lot on his feet. Jason's got hops. Yep. This

isn't even funny anymore. Oh. This music is killing

me, people. It really is killing me. Here comes

Jason's hops. You seen it yet? Yeah. Oh, Duke

and Jive. I'm still trying to figure out what

rules are playing by. It's like you can, anybody

can run whatever way you want, but you've got

to be looking the opposite way so someone can

steal a ball from you. Seems simple enough. Oh

no, putties! Billy just looks at him like what?

Finally some real music Wow, I don't see how

kicking and punching and whatever the hell that

is is tackling them Oh, that's a funny spot.

Yeah. I think it might be like, I don't know

what part you're at. I might be a second ahead

of you. The putties are jumping over the other

one chasing Billy. Jason's carrying him, oh my

god. There he is We're not doing very many very

much commentary this rip around no Not during

the command center scene because it's It's the

usual Zordon calls them Tells them what's going

on. We see the villain and it's nice to see the

villain. I mean the villain looks really damn

cool, but The commentary really happens, you

know in that crappy football scene Do they really

have to wear jerseys? Come on. You're going to

be if you're going to be scummy, you got to go

all scummy. Oh, oh. Now, I remember why this

is one of my favorite episodes. So do you think

do you think dude without letters or numbers

on his jersey, the putty is like the leader or

if he's like the worst out of them, that's why

he doesn't have numbers. Don't know I Would say

that the what's the name of the villain I got

that they said it a second ago Rhino blast or

something why don't oh? God you did not just

say Oh my god to hell with El Torito damn goat

face Warm blaster, you know Like once you've

been to this world for so many times what you

just eventually stop checking all your stuff

when you get there Oh my god, Zordon did not

just do a Princess Leia line. Oh my god. You

love Zordon. So, wait a second here. Tommy's

been trying to do this football thing this entire

time. He doesn't get the call until now? There

it is. He doesn't get the call until now to figure

out what's going on with this new monster, seriously?

Yep. They just wanted him to worry about his

football career because he's really gonna make

something of himself Well at 20 years old you

think he would have already done it And there's

the music. The good music. That's right. Hey,

tell me you don't bob your head when you hear

that music. No, I do. I just can't stand the

crappy rap music they were using in the football

video earlier. No, I'm just saying I love the

Go Green Rangers song. Oh, yeah, absolutely.

What's the music guy's name that did all the

music? Ron Wasserman. Yeah, he's the man. Must

be a really really bad person cuz every time

I see Rita's one come down now. I think hey,

she's giving them Viagra You're definitely different

yeah Here comes Dragonzord Did you see that the

people have been spotting the legacy Dragonzord?

Yeah, I'm more so interested in the actual dagger

that I am the Dragonzord. I've seen it one time

at our Toys R Us. And you didn't grab it? No.

How much is it? 80? I just couldn't do it for

80. That's just... I don't know. Yeah, I know

it's a steep price point, dude, but you gotta

think about it this way. You're better off grabbing

it now while it's new, fresh, and good because

later on the aftermarket prices are gonna skyrocket.

Yeah. If I see it again, I'll probably pick it

up, but... Until then. Yeah. I got the morpher,

finally. Wow. Hey, that's a plan. It's... It's

kind of a plan. I wonder if Tommy would lose

his powers if he gave the Dragon Dagger to Alpha

and let Alpha run the Dragon Zords. No. I don't

want Alpha outside of the command center. I'm

saying that my kitty can just control it from...

From the command center? Inside. Maybe possibly.

I don't know. I've seen a couple pretty good

Green Rangers at Chicago Comic -Con. Oh did you?

I've seen one super bad, awful one too. Wasn't

JDF there? No, he wasn't there this year. He

went to St. Louis like two weeks or three weeks

before that or however long it was. Oh. Got him.

What a throw, dude. He's like Joe Montagna. Montana,

oh my god. I said Joe Montana. Oh, Montana. Off

Waterboy. Oh, yeah, oh my god. Joe Montana was

a quarterback, you idiot. I said Joe Montana.

Well, this is a football episode. Come on now.

stored he has that giant staff that he never

uses well he has the more are they have to be

the ultra dragon more drag yeah so we're to do

that or is the ultra dragon zord with titanus

all right whatever whatever one it is with him

and him and the mega zord that's when he uses

his staff yeah Holy crap, where'd the Megazord

come from? What the hell? Wait a second. We're

talking about the same football rules, dude.

Just anything goes. No, no, no, no, no. This

is something... Wait a second here. He threw

the Dragon Dagger into the thing because the

other Rangers had to grab it to be able to be

pulled out of the dimension, but instead of doing

that... They get pulled out of the dimension,

show up in the Megazord, which they didn't even

call, didn't even do the regular sequence. How

the hell is that possible that you could... Right.

Now you're following. This episode has zero logic.

Zero logic. You're still concerned about that

football player without numbers on his jersey.

No, I'm not. You are. Here's where the... Yeah,

here comes the staff. Maybe not well. I don't

think I've seen Have we seen that before I don't

remember seeing that I Don't remember seeing

that move before what I have if we've watched

this episode before Well, I don't think I've

watched this episode since it aired 21 years

ago This toupee isn't even put on properly. It's

just sitting there. Yeah! Billy! Billy made the

team. Billy. Bob Bob you know Bob Bob Ryan's

buddy You drop the paper tough guy Oh my god,

he's still wearing the toupee. Oh. He failed.

Not the toupee, the... The two -two. The two

-two, yes, thank you. We knew what you meant.

Yeah, right. So what's Jason then? A linebacker.

Oh, okay. So Tommy throws a flute into some giant

monster's mouth and all of a sudden he's John

Elway. Got it. You know, but see here's the thing

though. What what what's more? Nonsensical here

the fact that Tommy's the quarterback and the

leader of the football team or the fact that

Billy even made the team That's true. But look

what number he's wearing and he's the quarterback

that should make you happy Well, yeah Tom Brady

Yeah, that's very true There's not enough red

in the uniform though It's their old school uniform.

All right, folks, there you go. Football season

is the last season one commentary that we're

going to do for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

I don't know. I honestly don't know. I was gonna

say nonsensical. I was gonna say illogical, but

it's probably both of those things. It's a fun

episode, but it's not... It's a fun episode.

It's not the best episode, but it's by no means

the worst episode from season one. Absolutely

not. No, it's just a fun. It's just a fun good

episode. And I think I remember if I remember

correctly, I want to say the Rhino Blaster was

my first, like first bad guy I bought was where

they come space mutant that I bought from the

old the old line. If I remember correctly, I

just remember him loving his colors, the horn.

He was just it was just a bad ass character,

regardless of how sissy he was on the power on

the show. You know, he was he was a bad guy for

me. A tough bad guy, if you will. Yeah. yeah

um... now i know we said we were gonna do uh...

some more countdowns and stuff like that that

may happen in the future i don't know yet uh...

but like i said at the top of the show here in

this episode we've got six episodes left to give

you guys uh... forty four is it forty four yeah

uh... forty four uh... and forty five might come

within the next two months uh... forty six basically

forty four three forty seven will come sometime

before the end of the summer but i'd like to

have all those episodes out book by the end of

august if absolutely possible And then episode

48, which is the Megaforce overall discussion

like what we did back in like episode 19 and

20 and when we originally started the show, that's

gonna happen whenever Super Megaforce ends. I

don't actually know when it's supposed to end

because right now, the Super Megaforce season

only has up to silver lining, I believe? That's

you? Yes. Yes. Yes. So I don't know when that's

going to end. I will say that I have been watching

Super Megaforce when it has been on. I've actually

been DVRing it. It's OK. It's not bad by any

means. It's way, way better than Megaforce and

Samurai. Hands down, 100 percent. No doubt about

it. Yeah. I mean, I actually I can't say really

enjoying Super mega force, but I can say I'm

happy Right now because I'm just waiting for

him to screw something up because you know There's

a few things that I would have changed it out

like I liked way better about go kaiger But but

overall they're doing a really good job. It's

it's exciting everything every every episode

there's something kind of new, you know I wish

they would use more of the on go kaiger Every

time they got one of those keys Somebody from

that series would show up. So it would have been

lovely to see Somebody from every one of those

series show up instead of just randomly like

Casey was in the episode and I was extremely

happy with that And I liked how they how they

did that story, but I just wish they would have

done for everybody, you know Yeah, I mean they

did, you know, you had Casey you had Jaden and

and the master from samurai Wasn't there another

one? Oh Well, the big thing was red lion from

Wild Force the lion showed up Yep, and why couldn't

they got one of those guys or even got? Got the

red ranger because he was just He was samurai.

Yeah, but anyways, that's what I'm saying about

super mega force. It's definitely not terrible,

you know well see i think the problem is and

this is a problem i have with all cartoons and

tv shows and i can no sparrows is not a cartoon

but this is a problem i have with all television

shows is when they say hey we're gonna give you

brand new episodes for only six or seven weeks

and then we're gonna take three or four months

off Doesn't that make people forget about the

product you're trying to give them on television?

Yeah, serious. I mean that's my biggest problem.

I mean Super Megaforce what I love about it is

legendary mode I don't like that they use more

of the current ones a little more often than

they should like I really think they need to

Eat what I like about it with the sixth Ranger

now being added with silver linings or whatever

the name of the episode is that he can tap into

the six ranger powers so we're gonna see all

kinds of different six rangers they better tap

into into either white tiger or dragon so they

will but i'm not sure how they're gonna do it

because when they tapped into it with the white

with the white tiger they use those suits that

white tiger is is i wish spade was here so we

could say oh that's so and so because i can't

yeah what they're called but anyway you know

what i'm saying but yeah we'll see how they're

gonna do it but i'm sure Saban's gonna have to

do it because they're making the keys for it.

So I would only imagine that they figure out

a way to Adam Yeah, and the reason why spade

is not here because recently he just had a bouncing

baby boy So congratulations to spade and his

wife Amanda uh... so they're they're dealing

with with a newborn so joy and i know i've seen

some of his his tweets in his face of those he's

like no sleep no sleep at all crying baby oh

my god but uh... no congratulations spade and

folks It's going to be an awesome final six episodes

for us. It really will be. I'm not, you know,

when I made the announcement earlier in this

episode, I wasn't trying to bring everybody down,

but I'm just trying to be honest with our fan

base and say, hey, look, I'm not as into this

as I was. People, you know, I'm sure they understand

people get burned out and can do the same thing,

you know, forever. That's true. Very true. So.

on Yeah, I'm doing stuff and I started wrestling

again I'm gonna play Lex Luthor and this guy's

Movie that he was just contacting me on Facebook

and he's like you want to play my Lex Luthor

and I was like, yeah sure whatever so I'll be,

I'll be doing that all summer. So it's just,

I'm going to be super busy all summer and I will,

you know, that's just, that's just what we're

doing. Yeah. Absolutely. All right, folks. Um,
