About this Episode

The hosts discuss their experiences collecting Power Rangers merchandise, from initial toy store finds to the world of bootleg figures and Super Sentai imports. They explore the evolution of toy articulation, recall defective Megazord releases, and debate the merits of various Zord designs. The conversation also covers the franchise's history of video game adaptations across multiple consoles. Finally, the team outlines upcoming episode topics, including plans for ranked lists of villains before beginning a series of show commentaries.

the guy going operation and then put in suck

my balls mr garrison today on power rangers how

would you like to suck my balls mr garrison Welcome

to a collaboration between the Geekcast Radio

Network and the Pop Culture Network. I am one

of your hosts, TFJ and Mike, and this is From

the Command Center, the podcast, episode 24.

Joining me is Scotty Cash. Hello. How are you?

Good. How are you? Good. I'm doing good. Yeah,

we survived the horrible bad themes from last

time. And of course, the Super Sentai guy, Spirit

of the Vault Matrix is here. Hello. Hello. And

today, tonight, whenever you find people listening

to this, we are going to be talking about Power

Rangers merchandise, toys, books, comics, the

shitty Super Nintendo video games. Pretty much

anything. Most of the toy stuff is going to come

from Spada and Scotty because I currently don't

own any Power Rangers toys. But you know about

them. Yeah, I know about them, but you know my

toy collecting days are pretty much over thanks

to a certain Dumbass looking doll on Maddie collector

calm anyway, haha. Let's not go there So we Whatever

we want to start well Scotty when did you like

as a kid when you were watching the show? Like

what was like when you went to the toy stores

when like what was the first toy that you really

wanted to get? Well, it's actually funny because

I remember seeing them on the shelves before

the show even aired. Me, too. Yeah. Toys R Us.

Toys R Us, because I remember looking at how

it how they morphed from like the dinosaur into

the person in the helmet. I was kind of thinking,

well, that's just gay. I thought when I saw it,

I was like, oh, a new Voltron. That's the first

thing I thought, too. See, I didn't I didn't

see the Megazord. The first thing I seen were

the eight inch figures. So so I was just kind

of like what the heck is that and then I don't

know maybe like a week or so later is when the

show aired and I Instantly went back the Toys

R Us and I got actually I think I got all four

I got all of the Rangers except for red because

of course he was sold out Of course, I had Trini

and Kimberly and Billy and Zack. I was not very

happy But that's about those were the first ones

that I bought Now we I had just moved to a different

state in or was in the process of moving and

We went to a Toys R Us in our new location and

I'm like, oh, this is cool. And like my birthday

was days later and I told my mom I want this

for my birthday. It looks awesome. It looks really

cool. So we went home and then she went back

that night and they had pulled all of the Power

Ranger Megazords off of the shelf and shipped

them back because of defective heads. There was

a nationwide recall. This was one of the reasons

why Power Ranger toys, especially the Megazords,

were so hard to find was because the initial

release was all recalled because all the heads

were broken. My Toys R Us just had the 8 -inch

figures. Yeah, because they would put them out

on the shelves and then they all got recalled.

Now, what's even crazier is I remember seeing

not only the original Megazord, but I swore that

the Dragonzord was there as well. Now, this was

20 years ago, so my memory is probably off. Okay,

well I know for what episode of the dragons what

did the dragon sword and Tommy show up? What

episode was that like 15 or 16 or something?

Yeah, it was like green with evil part two or

three. I think if I'm remembering correctly fans

Don't crucify me because I don't remember because

we haven't gotten to commentaries yet Well, the

dragon's or didn't show up until episode four

of green with evil, but I'm saying like what

number along is that? Oh, I couldn't tell you

because I had I owned the dragon sword and Tommy

before Tommy even showed up on Power Rangers.

So that is, Spada is correct to a certain point.

I don't remember if they were out. At my Toys

R Us, Dragonzord and Tommy were not out at the

same time as the Megazord, because eventually

when I found the Megazord, he was by himself.

There was no other Zords there. Yeah, I just

remember seeing just the Megazord and then think

yeah the show debuted on my birthday on your

birthday and then so like on my birthday my mom

said oh this was what happened I was like well

can we go to Toys R Us tomorrow I just want to

see something and she's like oh yeah sure so

we went there and in the back of the toy of the

boys section in the toy aisle there were like

18 people just destroying the toy shelves and

I think that was my first encounter with scalpers

Hmm Wow, that's nuts people Right Right, we don't

want to get into that's a whole other podcast

For me it wasn't like I enjoyed the show That's

what I enjoyed and I got the toys here and like

I had the Megazord I didn't have it when it first

came out I had it afterwards like I don't know

by the time season 2 aired I guess I had the

original Megazord um and I had the the flip head

figures right automorphers the autumn are oh

god why you say that oh thinking back on it now

yeah they were fine for the 90s They were fine

for the 90s, but thinking on it now and looking

at it 20 years from when they first released,

it's almost as bad as the jump jets from G1.

Oh, the jump starters? Yeah, twin -twisting.

Well, I had one of those automorphers that the

mechanism didn't stop. So you would push the

button and you know the sections would open up,

but the head just kept spinning like five or

six more times Power Rangers exorcism moment

That's funny Don't the world Ferris wheel Ferris

wheel Ranger head That's amazing. It's like an

awful like part of Red Ranger Yeah really roller

blades and wings yeah the only and swords don't

forget swords and swords and the zords the only

zord i had outside of the original mega zord

was when the movie hit i had to have the falcon

zord right oh my god 1995 i was 15 and i was

in florida just just just like i was six again

playing with transformers it was Was just running

around you know holding the damn thing in my

hand flying the Falcons are all over the house

it was I Wish I could forget my childhood sometimes

what's the matter with that? Everyone did that

yeah, yeah, but that's really my only exposure

is is the original Automorphs the The original

Megazord and the Falconzord after that like I

like the toys they look cool, but it's not something

that My fandom is for the show it has it never

really translated for me to collect the toys

Yeah, well see I like I like collecting in general,

you know different no matter what the merchandise

is But sometimes when I can't get enough of the

show or you know, whatever the subject we're

talking about Right that's where the toys come

into play. So even if it's like Like we're gonna

do a podcast on the transformer stuff, you know,

and I just can't get enough of the dinobots right

now They're I transformed into me reading dinobot

comic books because I need more dinobots Yeah,

so it's kind of weird but that's how I work All

right Don't know I don't know how we're gonna

get through this but The way I laid out the episode

was the next topic is favorite figures and zords

There are too many we'd be here all night just

on that one topic. So I don't want to go about

this just I Don't know. Well your favorite means

you it's your favorite. You should have one favorite.

You can't have multiple favorites, right? Shouldn't

be that well, I have a shelf of favorites Yeah,

see, that's the thing because there are so many

different series and so many different seasons

and so many different I'm sorry. No, I have three

shelves But you okay if right now if you had

to sell all of them, but one which one would

you keep? Fuck, you know So, okay easy enough

Over my dead uncle wait Yeah, no dead uncle.

Yeah I don't know I like for me the one thing

I like like if I was ever to Get a certain Power

Rangers Zord back It would obviously be for me

the Falcon Zord because that was like that was

the connection I had to my childhood If I was

like Spada and had three shelves of favorites

Like he said if you know no, thank you. I don't

I don't you know I I don't it. It's kind of like

you know Here, I will cut this child in half

choose Power Rangers, it's not that drastic most

of them you can already pull them in half to

begin with so I Think we're okay there Now maybe

one good thing instead of favorites. I mean God,

I was going to say, why don't we say which ones

we have? And then I realized how many I have

displayed and not displayed and in boxes and

yeah. So if anybody doesn't have has a Pyramidus

that they don't want, I'll take that off their

hands. All right. Well, we go ahead and say I

have everything all the way up until time force.

Every single Megazord, every single figure from

all of the series. My favorite was gonna be the

dragon sword hands down not a second thought

about it That is one unfortunately. I no longer

possess Why is that? Because in let's see I want

to say it was 95 or no no It was at one point,

I think maybe in 97, we were having a yard sale

and I desperately needed money. And I sold everything

but the original MMPR Megazord. So I sold the

Dragonzord, I sold all my Thunderzords, I sold

all my Zeozords, I sold all of my Turbozords.

You probably didn't sell those because nobody

wants them. I actually the only one I couldn't

sell Was the Galaxy Force Megazord? Because no

everybody thought it looked like the hunchback

of Notre Dame for some reason right No, actually

the all the turbo zords are actually really good.

I really do like the zords I Might not like the

show too much, but I love I love the zords the

way it looks the color scheme on it looks pretty

cool But they're car Zords and you hate cars

or but it's a mega Zord. So I had I did not have

the original turbo Zord because I didn't think

it was complex enough. So in college, I bought

like a $30 knockoff that I had for several years.

And then the thing just fell apart. It was like

twice the size of the original Zord, too. It

was like it was like 19 inches tall or something

like that. Like the car mode was Like the car

mode was the size of for the For the red race

for the Red Rangers car was like the size of

a small dinner plate Geez that'd be awesome.

Oh It was it was and it only weighed like nine

ounces at the at the most it was the cheapest

Stankiest plastic I had ever seen. Oh, yeah.

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah when you go when you go

to like the different Chinatowns and all those

places like when we go like out of town like

to the The cons and stuff we go to all those

like little flea markets because we know and

like knock off Power Ranger figures, you know,

hopefully some zords fake Legos, you know stuff

like that And yes. Yes. The plastic is painted

cardboard Yes, and every time you like touch

it and then your fingers start to feel weird

after a while and you can't sleep for a few days

something But you have this strange growth off

your back and Oh, yeah, the world of Chinese

knockoffs You gotta love it though. Do some of

those knockoffs maybe not so much Power Rangers,

but like he manned Thundercats GI Joe's some

of them knockoffs go for high high high dollars

Oh, yeah, there are a couple of Transformers

knockoffs that went for like hundreds of dollars.

Yeah, that's crazy because They were, well, that's

a big problem right now. There's apparently a

knockoff Generation One Scorpion Hawk floating

around or flooding the markets now. Yeah, that's

crazy. I'd buy it for like 40 bucks, but I'm

not paying 150 the asking price for a lot of

these people. Right. Right. And they probably

paid 20 for it. Yeah, true. More like five. Yeah.

Alright, so... For me with the... I like Zeal,

don't get me wrong, I don't dislike the show,

but the Zords, even in the toy form, the Zords,

some of the Zords just look strange. Those shapes,

the yellow Megazord, oh my god. I love that Megazord.

That Megazord still goes for high dollars. I

love that Megazord. If I had to choose, really

giving it thought, if I had to choose an absolute

number one Megazord, it would be the Zeo Megazord.

Yeah, it's awesome. Yeah, the Zeo Megazord is

fine, but if you look at those Zords individually,

I'm sorry, that yellow Zord is just... too weird

it's based off an asian um doll yeah i can't

remember what the name of the doll actually is

but uh like yellow is i'm sorry bruce lee yeah

bruce lee it's based off bruce lee yeah keep

telling yourself that i like i like them separated

it just gives it like an added effect yeah but

you know Didn't know it was added it was based

off of a doll though. That's kind of crazy It

is let's see it was based off the dogu dogu and

a dogu is a Japanese traditional figurines of

the late Jomon period I Have no idea what that

even means is that like before Power Rangers

or something or is it like a like a religion

thing or what it's an ancient doll it's pretty

much an ancient doll um if you've ever seen are

you familiar with dark stalkers at all huh okay

there's a there's a character in the dark stalker

series that's based off of that as well and i

think there's also a um uh there's also a digimon

so are we talking like the yellow zord we're

talking the zeo megazord that breaks into pieces

like that no we're talking about the yellow zeo

megazord zeo zord too gotcha It's called Dogu

Lander. I'm going to Google it. And the pink

Megazord is based off of the heads on the Moa

Islands. And then there's like the Sphinx and

a Minotaur and then the Phoenix. Right. And then

the red, the other sword is based off a boxer.

Okay. Yeah, that's a little strange Let's see

was or just look strange to me. All right. Okay.

Now. Okay. I got you I'm thinking of the super

zeo Megazord. Oh Okay Super zeo Megazord is Just

a little bit different. Yep. Yeah, that's why

I was super confused. What the hell you guys

are probably like what? I don't even know what

that means. Why is the the giant yellow circle

based off a doll, because it breaks into the

five different robots. Yeah, that actually, the

toy of that is excellent. Right. And the Super

Zeo Megazords are just based off of whatever

shape appears on the Zeo Ranger's face. Right.

Yeah, I prefer the super zeo Megazord over the

regular seal Megazord I think it's combination

is sequence is cooler Yeah, the the zeo Megazord

still badass and I like I like how when it's

in like the the the single Zord form so it's

kind of like a chariot. Mm -hmm. Yeah, that's

bad. I Could do without the warrior. Well, I

was a huge fan of the red battle Zord though.

That was always awesome Now see, I don't like

the red battlezord. I never understood... I never

got it. Like, I've got the toy of it, and it's

okay, but it's like just this weird add -on to

the zeozord. And that's exactly what it is. It's

just like a gun. It's like instead of him holding

a gun, the red zeo battlezord just jumps on his

back. Yeah, he's going to punch bullets at the

enemies. Yeah, yeah. That's literally what he

does. I can't think of any that I actually dislike

If we're just talking Megazords, I mean I could

It's sad to say but I really like the jungle

fury stuff. Wait, let's see Let me make sure

I know what we're talking about here. But yeah,

I like the red ape How they all have like action

action features, which I could do without I don't

need action features on my On my Megazords. Yeah,

no action features should be reserved for attorney

in cats and stuff. I think the only Zord that

I don't, that I just don't care for, and I'm

sorry Mike, but I don't care for the Falcon Zord.

It's just, it, it's on its own, it does nothing.

Well, it did have that, that cool move in the

movie at the end. But yeah, you're right, it's

kind of hard to, like the, I remember the advertisements.

I remember the commercials for the Falcon Zord.

They tried to replay the scene with the toy.

that happens in the movie when when when the

wings come down and he shoots the missiles and

the toy it's just it's too silly the the toy

it doesn't it doesn't move the way that the effects

in the movie had it had the the zord move and

it just doesn't work you're right for me it doesn't

really yeah i mean but for me the overall aesthetic

of it and just the fact again just like Scotty

likes Dragon Zord because Dragon Zord is cool

and it's Tommy's first Zord. Same thing for me

with Falcon Zord. Granted, it's his second Zord,

but, well, second white Zord, third Zord overall.

That's one of the reasons why I like it is because

of what it did in the movie, the toy itself.

When, you know, it's a good display piece, but

as far as actual playability with it, no, it

doesn't hold up over time at all. I think the

one thing with the Zords that always irritated

me are the weird auxiliary Zords, like the Mega

Winger. And from Turbo, the Artilatron. Oh, yeah.

It's like, OK, you do what exactly? But then

you look at something like the Super Train Megazord.

It's the same thing as the Artilatron, but...

To me, it's much cooler. It's done better. Yeah.

Yeah, it's just done better as opposed to being

I Don't know just three bricks that you stack

on top of each other. It's actually five bricks

that form a giant robot Yeah, that that super

trained Megazord you video you did was pretty

long one of my longer videos yes No, no, I'm

talking about the video link. I'm talking about

the fact that it is the Super Train. Yeah, the

Super Train itself is very, very long. How much

did that go for? Do we know how much it was originally

in store? The original cost was closer to $100.

Wow. Which series is that? Super Train Megazord.

From Lightspeed Rescue. The super train when

they took the train tracks built off and they

went up and I know what it is. Yeah, I'm just

I'm looking for the Suggested retail price on

this website Suggested retail price of a lot.

Yeah. Yeah get your word out. I want to say it

was between 75 and 100 That is really expensive.

Yeah for back then because I remember I remember

the super zeo zord Being in Toys R Us for 40

bucks, and I thought no, that's too expensive

I want to say I paid 30 for Tommy in the Dragons

orb But of course you got the figure with the

dragon sword and this was back in the day. I

mean this was a long time ago Yeah, it doesn't

have suggested retail price on here that it seems

like a lot of money for Mean what wouldn't surprise

me though because essentially well, you know,

it's essentially five train cars I mean, it's

essentially like buying a model train set. Well,

I remember Toys R Us had a display case dedicated

to a bunch of the toys and it was like It was

like three feet tall because in the back you

had the super train Megazord That's so so besides

the Zords and the weapons we also had I think

it was beginning in Jungle fury we had the first

or the beginnings of the transforming Rangers

where they would transform into the Zords and

I bought a ton of those things Yeah, I thought

that was really cool That was always to me very

cool Yeah Yeah, I mean that you know I like some

of the you know even though some of the series

as we've already pointed out aren't the best

in Power Rangers history, but some of the designs

and some of the way that the like you said like

how and it's interesting how they were able to

Modify that to be able to fit the toy line to

say hey this happened in the show and yay you

can do it too kind of and i i really think that's

great i think that's when bandai is actually

at their best and they can actually decide on

a inch of figure oh wait sorry yeah that's wrong

series and i'm sorry i think i said uh jungle

fury i think i meant what i meant was um wild

force i don't know why No, Jungle Fury was where

they transformed, wasn't it? Well, so was Wild

Force. They had a bunch of figures that turned

into their zords. I've reviewed a few of them.

You had the Red Ranger into the Lion Zord, Black

Ranger into the Bull Zord, Blue Ranger into the

Shark Zord, and Lunar Knight turned into a wolf.

That's right, that's right. And then in Ninja

Storm, they all turned into different weapons.

Yeah Or the one I bought turned into a piece

of pile of crap, but that's besides the point.

Is that it? I just sent you a link. Yes, I Think

I like the jungle fury ones a little bit better.

Well, I mean just looking at them in the package

They just look a little bit more sturdy. I guess

like you just starting yours is in pieces or

whatever early this year earlier this year I

reviewed the wild force morphing red Black and

Lunar Night Rangers toys I reviewed those because

I randomly found them in Just a box while I was

going through my storage basement Let me ask

you this beta if if you had to pick a series

of Your favorite zords what series would you

pick? Oh? Geez you got you got three shelves

full of your favorite zords Okay, now you gotta

I'm sure there's more than three swords per series.

You know what I mean? Or you know what I'm saying?

I was always a huge fan of every single wild

for a sword. Hands down, there's none that I

disliked at all. I like a lot of the wilds or

it's the only one I don't like is the elephant

because I don't think he does much, but I've

never actually gotten a chance. I've never actually

been able to hold him and play with him. But

oh, man. Geez that that is a tough one. I love

the stuff from From space and I love the stuff

from light speed rescue That that is Man that

that's a tough one. I don't know if I can answer

that Dino Thunder had a lot of good swords, too.

Yeah Dino Thunder had good swords And then when

you start getting into like Operation Overdrive,

Jungle Fury, RPM, all that crap, they had...

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,

no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,

no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,

no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,

no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,

no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,

no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,

no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,

no, no, no, no, Now I would not mind having the

Titan Megazord and I've tried to get it a few

times But it's it gets it's a little pricey at

sometimes for mystic force. Yeah the Maji King

is the one is the version of that that I own

like I started buying Super Sentai in wild force

and I got wild force. I've got all the ninja

storm I have the US versions of Dino Thunder

and SPD and I only got what is the Titan Megazord

from Mystic Force and I but then I got the The

bright star Megazord. Is that what the name of

the white horse is? They didn't do the they didn't

bring over the Centauros Megazord They didn't

bring over the purple one. They only brought

over the white the Steve the Steve Dredgen fury

Megazord is The white horse that the Red Ranger

rode on that's I've got that About from mystic

force or from operation overdrive to what is

current? I've just bought the I've mostly just

bought the Super Sentai stuff. Oh, yeah Though

I did I did get the the what is it the battle

fleet Megazord from Operation overdrive. I actually

bought that here in the US because they were

the same figures What about samurai or Megaforce?

I know you have the Megaforce. Oh, yeah I've

gotten a couple of those just as comparisons,

right? I own you know that stuff came out two

years before Megaforce and all that stuff was

out well before I Every single one, but I might

buy a couple of them right and and without going

into like crazy detail. Why don't you? You know

I own a few of the Japanese versions, but they

normally don't even compare in quality, but they're

also a lot more expensive. Oh, they are vastly

more expensive. And that's without paying crazy

international shipping prices. But it was nice

to see that it's a year later, or two years later,

but they brought the Samurai Megazord out. the

Japanese version at like a Toys R Us like for

the it is a Toys R Us exclusive and I didn't

buy it but from what I understand it's the same

thing as what was in Japan and it's actually

from what I've heard it's pretty good yeah it's

exactly the same thing it's even has the the

box and everything oh thank goodness yeah and

all they did was stick a black like uh what do

you call it like when you when you get like a

movie and it's got like a sheet over the top

of it like a cardboard that you can slide out

You know what I mean like it goes over the case

It's got a slip cover slip cover. It's got a

it's got a black slip cover over the Japanese

box It says 20th anniversary. Oh, it's blah blah

blah. So there's a box within the box, correct?

But it's only a slip cover. It's a it's like

a half box. Oh, okay Okay, I mean the box is

all Japanese writing. Everything is exactly the

same Okay, cuz I I haven't seen it in a store

yet. My local Toys R Us does not seem to be wanting

to stock much stuff from Bandai. Anything. Right.

It's really weird. It's like Power Rangers. They

also do like Beyblade and Bakugan? They also

do Bakugan? Is that them? Yep. Yep. It's like

Bandai isn't even shipping stuff to stores right

now. Yeah. Have you seen the new Mighty Morphin

Power Rangers Megazord? The metal version? No.

Haven't seen that. Haven't seen the Anniversary

Morpher. Haven't seen any of that stuff. Yeah,

I can't wait to get my hands on that 20th Anniversary

Megazord. It's the same as the one that was released

in 2010 with just some diecast. Is it? Yeah,

it's unfortunately not the original. Huh Well,

that's no good Now if I had to pick an absolute

favorite Power Ranger toy, it would probably

be During jungle theory when they were releasing

the super legend figures when they brought out

the Green Ranger It was the perfect size the

perfect build the perfect articulation. It was

just amazing looking What um Have the like I

know the figures not like I saw all of Spada's

reviews for the samurai figures I know that they've

changed like have the figures as the series progressed

gotten different scales I mean because when I

think of Power Rangers figures, I just think

of the old automorphs like I don't I don't think

of super highly articulated. I don't think of

Power Rangers figures as in a scale tool like

what in Masters Classics is where it's super

articulated at all. Yeah, there has actually

been a change in scale because in the original

figures we used to get like 8 -inch figures.

Well, those that had really good articulation

for those kinds of figures. Now for like Megaforce

you can get 6 -inch figures that wiggle their

arm and that's about it. The real articulation

is in the 4 -inch figures, which used to be 5

-inch figures. So they have scaled those down.

The Zords themselves are actually also smaller

as well. The Gosei Great Megazord is smaller

than its original Gosei Great from Goseiger,

right? So it's not much smaller, but it is a

little bit smaller. I mean, there are corners

being cut. and there are things being downsized,

but we are effectively getting similar toys.

Now, there is also the wonderful Read Over Pulsar

figure from the 2000 line, this anniversary line,

the one where her face is melted and she has

no eyes, where the eyes were placed like one

eye is on the chin and the other eye is up by

the hat. Yeah, so there have there have been

scaling scaled down and of course, it's the same

thing for for the transition of Bandai to Bandai

Japan to Bandai to USA as it is of Takara to

the Hasbro where there are major pain apps just

missing Yeah Yeah For me the the toys like i

said i like seeing them i think they're interesting

um i really loved all of the dino thunder stuff

i thought those like those toys those are like

those are good figures they're good figures but

they're they're like for me they were like as

i said in a couple episodes ago like if i was

a kid now they would be my mighty morphin toys

as far as the zords go well they didn't the big

problem was they didn't release one of the zords

here in the here in the u .s the dragon zord

on drag um drego drego zord right no no that

was that was released it was the original dino

thunder or dino um yeah dino thunder mega zord

yeah dino thunder mega zord or thunder Thunder

so deluxe Thunder Saurus make a zord and then

they released the Drago zord steggo zord and

Ankle o zord What's the Drago zord? That's the

black and white one grandson. That's right They

didn't release Tommy's zord No, and he actually

his zord was more of just like this big Brachiosaurus

with a giant Backpack and that was it. It didn't

it's essentially a black version of Titanus.

Yeah It's a carrier zord, but they did release

it in Japan and it still sells for I mean You're

not gonna get that thing for under 150 bucks

no matter where you go Well that it was originally

around 150 bucks Yeah, and then for the longest

time you couldn't get it for under 250 But now

it's kind of went back down in price a little

bit, but it came with it came with all the zords

But they look like little clear but they were

the color of the zords so like the t -rex was

red but i mean i always wanted that thing i just

can't bring myself to spend that kind of cash

on it yeah the bit the weird thing with dino

thunder is it was one of these it was one of

the first super i'm sorry oba ranger which is

based which dino thunder is based off of was

one of the first series where you had multiple

different zords that were auxiliary swords. They

were just weapon swords. That's all they did.

So in the US, they really had to combat that

in a weird way. So you had The ThunderSaurus

Megazord be released as just the basic sword.

Then you have the Deluxe Dino Stegazord, which

was the Stego Drago, and then the One Weapon

Demetra Zord, which was a giant buzzsaw. Then

you had the Power Rangers Dino Zord set, which

was the Ankylo Zord and the green... Background

or something like that. Yeah, it was a I'm sorry

the green parasora zord Yeah, so the ankle zord

was a spear with a spinning shield and the parasora

zord became a giant pair of scissors There's

a clamper. Yep, and then there was a another

zord that was this purple Hadrosaur which was

just Had punching action never released in the

US only released in the EU Wow, and I actually

When I originally did the review for my Stegazord,

I mentioned that, and someone in the EU contacted

me and said, hey, I'll send this to you for like

five bucks, plus shipping. I'm like, okay. And

then there was the Mesodon Megazord, which had

its own zord form, and then it merged with the

Demetra Zord, the Ankyla Zord, the Parasora Zord,

and the Punching Zord to form the Triassic Megazord.

Aka a giant waste of time Yeah, kind of yeah

Well, and then the like oh wait the Triassic

zord that was in Dino Thunder, correct? Yeah,

we're talking about Dino Thunder All this stuff

was released in the you in the you. Oh, yeah.

Okay. Yeah, I was the mega Yeah, the Megazon

zord or whatever that thing that thing was pretty

it was like a giant chariot and that thing brings

me all cash too. Yeah magic does A lot of kids

didn't want it because it was pretty, it was

pretty costly. It was like 60 bucks back then.

60, 70 bucks. And that's a lot of cash for, you

know, for not that long ago for a kid's toy.

But yeah, they're, they're, I mean, they're,

they're pretty high dollar to get them complete

and everything, but they go for pretty, pretty,

pretty penny. I actually got one. It's really

weird. If you guys, if our listeners want to

buy some of these older figures, don't buy as

soon as you see it. Wait, and I know this is

gonna sound weird as somebody who is slowly but

surely rebuilding his Power Rangers collection

It's very odd because you'll see like for example

the mesodon Megazord it was going for $300 at

one point and then I was like no I'm gonna wait

Waited a few weeks. It started to come down waited.

Maybe a month after I started looking for it.

I got it for 50 bucks. Yeah It's just really

strange the swings that Power Rangers goes through.

It also depends on what top of the year it is.

Money, Christmas money, tax money, you know.

So if it's like if you're trying to get something

right after Christmas, that's when everybody

else is trying to get something too. So you're

going to pay more money because they also want

that and nobody wants to wait. The best time

is back to school. Yeah. Yep, that's when I've

gotten most of my stuff for the cheapest or is

that July to August range because Nobody's looking

to buy toys then the new toys haven't even the

new shows haven't started so Everybody's trying

to unload stuff Yeah They um, what the hell was

I just gonna say? Oh the Blizzard my Blizzard

force Megazord was It was a rare Dino Thunderzord

also. That's because it was a Walmart exclusive.

Was it really Walmart? I think so. Because my

buddy Deval picked it up at a Goodwill store

for about 27 cents. Complete. So I got it from

him and did a little review on it. I mean, it's

technically exactly the same thing except for

the shield. Zord which I can't think of what

it is, but it's just a little bit different colors

and it was in Dino Thunder for about About ten

seconds. It was a it was in the movie. It was

in you know Super Sentai always has a movie and

It was the main villain in the movie and then

showed up and whatever is in the movie will show

up at one point in the show for an episode Yeah,

I mean it was a quick one. I mean it was like

five seconds, too Yeah, hey go buy this Yeah,

and before we before we before we go Mikey you're

talking about the auto morphing zords The figures

sorry the figures if it wasn't for the 8 -inch

figures those were by far my favorite figures

of all time I played with those things more than

I played with any other Power Ranger toy ever

I don't know if it was the scale was more accurate

with everything else because like again when

you get with the 8 -inch figures He man GI Joe

under cats Anything back in the day was what

three and three quarter four inch five inch and

then they like hey, here's these eight inch figures

So it was kind of like they're on their own.

So you couldn't really mix and match Power Rangers

the GI Joe's You know, I mean, yeah, that's true

X -men were five inch four inch. Yeah something

like that. Well the The X -Men stuff was about

six inches, but... Well, back then they were.

About five to six inches. Now they're, what,

three inches? They're the size of G .I. Joe's?

Yeah, yeah, something like that. I'm saying I

got most of my play out of the automorphers.

Right, right. So we can't do an episode on Power

Rangers merchandise and not talk about the games.

Oh My god, okay. So let's see. Okay. Hold on.

Hold on. Hold on Like I remember Going to a now

kids. This is really she's really showing all

of our ages here I remember going to a video

store and renting Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

the fighting edition I remember this I remember

playing this on the Super Nintendo and oh my

god it was cool then now I've played the emulator

I played it on an emulator it's still pretty

cool but it's no Street Fighter yeah it's no

Street Fighter I remember on Super Nintendo there

was Mighty Morphin Power Rangers right and it

was a beat -em -up yeah and I don't remember

if I got it as a gift or if I rented it, but

I beat it in like an hour and a half. It was,

it was super short and incredibly easy. Well,

they had, they had, I think they had Power Rangers

and they had Power Rangers the movie. Right.

Well, they had three different money morphing

games. They had Power Rangers, the SNES game,

uh, where it's the five or. Yeah. Yeah, the Five

Rangers versus a bunch of villains that had basically

like there's no Rita and Zed in this game. And

then they had Mighty Morphin, the fighting edition,

which is the Street Fighter style. And then they

had the movie game. You're forgetting about the

Sega CD game. What was that? Mighty Morphin Power

Rangers for the Sega CD. Yeah. Was it any different

than the other games? I don't know. I'm not able

to find any pictures of it. But it sure existed?

Yeah, it definitely existed. Huh. Oh, there is

a video on YouTube, but I'm not going to play

a YouTube video. It looks, from what I can see,

it looks like it's similar, if not exactly the

same as the SNES version. Oh, yeah, it is exactly

the same. Yeah, it is exactly the same. I'm looking

at the link right now on Ranger Wiki. See, see

listeners, we do do our research, even though

it's in the middle of the show. But yeah, there

was a Game Boy version of the game and a Sega

Genesis slash Mega Drive version of the game.

Hey, do you remember the, yeah, that's exactly

the same game. They had, it was like a Game Boy

version. It was yellow and you could take take

out the games the cartridges and put in different

cartridges, but it was they were all power rangers

It was like gold bars revenge Something something

maybe green ranger or something, but it was just

like you remember those tiger games that they

used to make Yeah, and it was exactly like that,

but it was it was all power rangers Well, there

was something recently for either the Game Boy

Advance or DS in the past couple of years that

you started off as one Ranger and then you unlocked

other Rangers as you played through the game.

Yeah, actually we're wrong. There's a fit. Yeah,

there's a fifth Super Nintendo game. That was

a well Yeah, I just sent you guys that's to the

Genesis version of the SNES game The Sega CD

game is separate the Sega CD game actually took

you through oh The show oh That's right. I think

they're one of the online reviewers did I think

I'm spoonie from the spoonie experiment I think

he did this I think he actually played through

this. Oh, man, that's right. Oh, I completely

forgot about that. Yeah, that's the Sega CD version.

And yeah, you're right, Scotty. Holy crap. Look

at that. That's so awesome. No, no, it wasn't.

No, but I just get I just sent you the handheld

games right now for six dollars and 50 cents.

Oh, OK. So some of our younger members will not

will not would not have been alive during the

Tiger Electronics and Mr. Game and Watch games.

This was back in the very early to mid 80s. This

was before Nintendo Entertainment System was

released in 84. These were little single use

single use game consoles that. Were the most

horrible gaming experiences you could ever bequeath

upon a child Back in the day they were they were

awesome for about five minutes, and you're like

well. I just done the same thing Yeah times in

a row, and they didn't even keep score But yeah,

this is I had gaming system by Bandai oh No,

do not want I don't even remember how it plays

or anything about it. So along with the four

Super Nintendo games, the one Sega CD game, there

were a couple of others. There was a Power Rangers

Dino Thunder for the PS2. I'm looking at that

right now, and I really want to play that. Power

Rangers Rescue Force for the original PlayStation,

with the guys at Giant Bomb actually played through

it during one of their live shows, and it was

god awful. Really? Yes. Then for the Game Boy

Advance, we have Ninja Storm and Power Rangers

SPD. For the Game Boy Color, we have Time Force.

There was apparently a Power Rangers Wild Force

video game, though... Oh, it was for the Game

Boy Advance as well. And then for the PS2, there

was Power Rangers Super Legends. Yeah. Where

you can play as like 30 different Rangers. And

then for the Wii, they had Samurai. That it actually

isn't that bad. It's got to be better than the

Transformers Prime game. Oh, I'm sure from what

I heard, everything's better than that. And this

only came out for the Wii 2, didn't it? Yes.

Transformers Prime? Yeah, it's only for the Wii

and DS. Damn shame what they're doing with Transformers

Prime right now. Anyway, that's a topic for another

show. But yeah, no, this Super Legends thing

looks really cool. You can play as... Red or

black from overdrive blue or green from lost

galaxy time force blue green and quantum SPD

red blue and omega and orange. Oh my god Second

time the orange Rangers showing up Technically

third. Oh and let's not forget the Power Rangers

samurai for iOS and for the connect My daughter's

put the crap out of that uh, Power Rangers Samurai

for the iPhone. I played, I played through it.

It was okay. Yeah. I mean, for a little kids

game, it was, it was kind of like an updated

version of the tiger handheld games. Cause you

do the same thing over and over and over and

over and over. There is that now that's the one

where they, is that the one where they slash

like infinity blade? Uh, and then when you get

your meter filled up, you could click on it and

it's like, uh, spin sword. There's another one

called Power Rangers Samurai Smash, where they

are super deformed characters. Yeah, it's the

longest game in history. I mean, it's worse than

the other one. It's super repetitive. And then

they also made another one that's called Power

Rangers Super Legends, I believe. And you can

be like Tommy. Well, that's the one we were talking

about earlier. Super Legends is the PlayStation

2. The regular Legends is for iOS. Let's see

Power Rangers Legends game made for iOS optimized

for the iPad player starts off as Green Ranger

I can unlock other Rangers later featured villains

include Lord Zed, Master Xandred, and Trekkina.

I Played it and it was very choppy the loading

was it was ridiculous So I played it like two

times I did the update on it and I was like all

this that'd be better and it load took You know

two minutes of load and I thought nope And it

got worse. That's so funny. All right. Is there

anything else we need to talk about as far as

the merchandise? I mean, I know there's like

lunch boxes and backpacks. Oh, there's every

when Power Rangers first hit mainstream, there

was Power Rangers everything. I mean, there was

underwear, socks, hats, toothbrushes, toothpaste.

I mean, anything, anything Power Rangers, they

had a key chains, backpacks, power wheels. Yeah,

everything. Bikes, anything, skateboards, anything

you can think of, they put a Power Ranger logo

on it. No doubt about it. It was definitely huge.

It was mainstream big time. Yeah. Yeah, it was.

All right. So we're going to take a quick break.

Turtles, He -Man, etc. Where are you gonna go

to find us? Welcome to Star Joe's Podcast. I'm

your host Ryan. And I'm Chuck. That's right everybody,

we're the Star Joe's. We host a podcast called

Star Joe's Podcast. where we talk about your

favorite comic books, your favorite toys of all

the 80s properties. Star Wars, G .I. Joe, Transformers,

M .A .S .K., Thundercats, Voltron, you name it,

we cover it. If it's in the 80s, we will cover

it at some point. Yes, so what you want to do

to find us, you can go to iTunes, you can go

to www .starjoes .com. And remember, the Force

will be with you. Because knowing us is half

the battle. I can't believe this is how it ends.

Isn't there anything that we can do? I'm afraid

nothing we can do would ever give the Zords enough

power. You now need stronger new Zords equipped

with the power of thunder to defeat Lord Zed.

New Zords? Power of thunder? What do you mean,

Zordon? Follow me, Rangers! Thunderzord, his

power is fierce and true. Trini, yours shall

be the Griffin Thunderzord, swift and accurate.

Zap, the Lion Thunderzord will have courage and

strength. Billy, your Unicorn Thunderzord has

mythological powers and wisdom. Kimberly, the

Firebird Thunderzord shall be yours, powerful

and agile. When joined together, all shall form

the Thunder Megazord. These new Zords are amazing.

So we are back and yeah, it's been a fun little

discussion on the Power Rangers toys It's gonna

be interesting to see what kind of comments we

get on the website as far as People talking about

the toys they have or the toys that they like

I noticed none of us mentioned anything to do

with Mystic Force No, no, we talked about it

a little bit. We talked about the Titan Megazord

Okay, so our train Megazord wasn't too bad. I

mean the toys weren't bad just the show was awful

Yeah, that's that's very true very true What

do you get coming up on your YouTube channel

there Spada? Oh, man? I'm at the point where

I am actually drowning in figures I have two

videos a day then right. I'm sorry. You should

be putting out two videos a day then right? You

know that's not That's not as easy as it sounds.

I know. I know it isn't. But I'm pretty much

putting up a video a day. So I've got a whole

bunch of Power Rangers stuff. I've got the Isis

Megazord I still need to review. I still need

to review the Shogun Megazord, the Falcon Megazord.

I have the next zord in Go -Ryujer, which is

the current Super Sentai series on its way. I've

got... Which is what? It's a giant, uh, Pterodon.

It's, uh, Pterogodon is the name. Is that the

one they just showed in the last episode? Yes.

That's pretty awesome. Um, I've got... Dude,

I've just got a lot of bunch of... I got a whole

crap ton of stuff. Just go over to my channel.

Some things that you probably, our listeners,

would be interested in is I just got a hold of

a... Disney Robot Combiner. So you have Pluto,

Goofy, Donald, Daisy, Minnie, and Mickey all

get the giant robot treatment and they all combine

into a giant Disney robot. It's pretty freaking

awesome. The thing is like $150. Yes, it is.

Yeah, I wanted that so bad until I seen the price

tag on that. I know I'm the dirtiest -minded

one of us all, but why am I flashing to a gangbang

with all the male characters nailing Minnie and

Daisy? She's on top. No, I'm not kidding, she

is. Let's see, what else do we... Jesus. Dude,

ask me what's coming up. I'm not really sure

I can totally answer that, because, like I said...

I'm kind of drowning in figures and I'm going

to be going to a meetup this weekend, hopefully

to sell off a bunch of stuff that I haven't even,

that I have duplicates of. Right, right, cool,

cool. What about you Scotty, what's going on

with the video series for Command Center? Uh,

I'm gonna do the 20th anniversary of that Red

Ranger, the part of Red Ranger. Oh, cool. It'll

actually probably go up Saturday. Alright, so

since between episode 23 and 24 between discussions

amongst myself Scotty and Spada we've had Another

change in what is going to happen with the future

of the podcast through a suggestion on Twitter

from at crew Lex or Krelix He says quick suggestion.

You should do a top 20 favorite and top 10 least

favorite Power Rangers villains for an episode

of From the Command Center. And Scottie Spada

and I were talking about it, and between now

and episode 28, 29, somewhere around there, episodes

25 through 27 will be more lists. Possibly episode

28 will be a list as well. Episode 29 is where

Day of the Dumpster's gonna come in, and the

commentaries will start at episode 29 now instead

of episode 25. So you guys are gonna be getting...

Six more episodes regular episodes before the

commentary start so Stick around for that We

also have a couple of new iTunes reviews that

came in One that was left on April 4th Awesome

podcast five -star review you guys have an awesome

podcast I love hearing you guys talk about stuff

Power Rangers related and always fun to listen

to the Super Sentai stuff Listen to this on the

podcast app on my iPod touch and love every minute

of it You may mess up your facts a few times

But this podcast is still fun to listen to keep

up the good work and don't let those haters get

to you a podcast screwing up facts Yeah, really

The other one is from Jeffrey H left on April

6 2013 it could be amazing This was a three -star

review this podcast is pretty great, but there

are several things that keep it from being amazing

Mike and Scotty work well together and their

interactions are usually mostly entertaining,

but I feel Mike dominates the conversation a

little too much. That might just be how the two

interact and it's natural, but I definitely like

to hear more from Scotty. Well, you did this

episode since I didn't talk much. The earlier

episodes were riddled with errors and synopsises

and everything. I understand that the seasons

weren't easily available on Netflix at the time,

but a simple search of the Power Rangers wiki

would have been more than helpful. I gotta tell

you, searching around the Power Rangers wiki

is... Sometimes very difficult for me because

that stuff is not well organized. It's A Wikipedia

anybody can write down so Joe Schmo could write

down a Green Rangers name was Jason David Billy

the blue guy It's like anybody can update that

it doesn't necessarily mean it's true Yeah, he

also goes on to say, and there seems to be a

lot of repetition. The shows, or at least the

ones I've listened to so far, start off with

cast overview, favorite episodes, Rangers, Zords,

weapons, music, etc. And then you throw in a

season synopsis where you basically repeat a

lot of what you talked about. I love long podcasts,

so I don't care what sometimes they are two hours

long, but I don't like the repetition. Maybe

a better, more clearly understood outline for

the episode could help. All in all, I really

enjoyed the podcast, and I'm really happy that

I found it. Thanks, you guys. Now, let me approach

this whole format thing. When we, is it episode

22? Basically, the original format of the show.

was when we were doing the the the season reviews

was the intro where we would all you know we

would talk about just catch up whatever else

we would talk about the general information of

the show we would talk about the cast and the

rangers we would talk about the weapons then

the zords Then we went to episodes because we

were talking about instead of just doing a general

overview We were talking about episodes We liked

and what we liked about those said episodes and

then after that we talked about the music We

talked about whatever legacy what that season

might have or that part of the series might have

and then we went into final thoughts so there

is a Detailed outline that I had had that we

followed that I don't know where you know, maybe

this person maybe Jeffrey can either email me

or email send email the feedback at geek cast

radio comm and Let me know which episodes that

he found repetition in because we never really

repeated ourselves In an episode we might have

brought up something that was brought up earlier

in the episode, but it wasn't a repeat of the

information All right, so Thank you once again

for joining us here and from the Command Center.
