Batgirl here, aka The Risingstar. With Batman week here on GCRN my first blog entry will be dedicated to my top ten list of BTAS episodes.
Without further delay lets get started!
#10: Christmas With The Joker: Ah who doesn’t remember this classic Joker episode. A holiday themed one at that! Joker escapes and reaks havoc on Gotham city at the most joyful time of the year. Its up to Batman to stop the Clown Prince of Crime of course. I loved this episode because it was extremely well written, thought out and funny. Also it’s a Joker episode!
#9: Pretty Poison: Yes I know when we reviewed this episode on LOTDK it was not too popular but to me I loved it! I think it was a great intro to Poison Ivy’s character and I remember watching the commercials for this specific episode. It was promoted very well and made you want to watch it. I for one think it was a great episode maybe not the best Poison Ivy episode, but a great way to meet her.
#8: Beware the Gray Ghost: I think this episode was fantastic! I love how we get a glimpse into some of Batman/Bruce Wayne’s childhood. It is all thanks to a show young Bruce was a fan of “The Gray Ghost” not only is it revealed that this show partially influenced the kind of crime fighter Batman became but the episode has a sort of old time feel to it. It was an extremely well written episode in my opinion and when you find out who the real criminal is well let’s just say I did not see it coming.
#7: Joker’s Favour: Ah yes this episode another fantastic Joker episode! Lesson learned in this episode, don’t make the Joker mad! (Though everyone should know that) Unfortunately for Charlie Collins who curses at the Joker unknowingly on the highway he made a very big mistake. Being blackmailed by The Joker into doing him a little “favour” the poor man becomes Joker’s pawn in his next crime. Of course Batman saves the day but seeing more of an ordinary citizen who gets roped into Joker’s schemes made this a very unique and worthwhile episode.
#6: The Clock King: Ah yes this episode introducing The Clock King villain. The target this episode Mayor Hill. Temple Fugate takes on the persona of The Clock King to extract revenge on Mayor Hill, who persuaded Fugate to change up his daily routine schedule by taking a later break. Big mistake on Hill’s part the later coffee break ended in disaster for Fugate. This episode is another great introduction to another Batman villain.
#5: Mad as a Hatter: Who doesn’t like a good cross between a fairytale Alice and Wonderland and Batman? That’s just what we get in this episode where we meet…you guessed it The Mad Hatter. Previously known as Jervis Tetch an employee of Wayne Enterprises he goes “mad” and becomes The Mad Hatter after being rejected by Alice (Irony yes) another employee who rejects his advances after getting back together with her boyfriend. He kidnaps her and runs off to “Wonderland” (not really its just a park). Batman rescues Alice end of story. Though this is not the last we will hear of The Mad Hatter that is for sure. He has some of the best story lines.
#4: The Strange Secret of Bruce Wayne: It’s a Hugo Strange episode!! What else can I say? This character is awesome , devious, and a great Batman villain. After inventing a device that makes him realize Bruce Wayne is Batman he plans to auction off the secret to the 3 big crime bosses, The Joker, Two Face, and Penguin.
#3: Joker’s Wild: Another fantastic Joker episode with a casino theme. After learning about this so called casino using Jokers image and likeness from Arkham Asylum Joker escapes to go extract his revenge. When he finds out he was just being used to help the owner of the casino get insurance money he looses it.
#2: Almost Got ‘Im: This was a truly awesome episode with all the Batman Villians gathered around a poker table telling their tales of how they “almost” got The Batman. Little do they know one of them is actually Batman in disguise (Killer Croc).
Finally my #1 BTAS episode goes to…..
#1: Mad Love: This is the origin of Harley Quinn and it will always be my favourite episode ( and trust me I have more then 10!!) Seeing how Dr Harleen Quinzel became Harley Quinn and not only teams up with Joker but falls for him was awesome. Getting so much more background on her in the animated series was great. I loved this episode and highly recommend you check it out if you haven’t done so recently.
