About this Episode

TV’s Mr. Neil and THN Mike discuss the next three episodes of the animated series Captain N: The Game Master. They analyze the Dragon Warrior-inspired 'Three Men and a Dragon', the Castlevania-heavy 'Mr. and Mrs. Mother Brain', and the 'Nightmare on Mother Brain’s Street'. The hosts critique the recurring writing tropes, voice acting, and animation quality while comparing the episodes to their source material.

It's action. It's drama. It's comedy. It's Decian,

the superhero webcomic. Decian has superhero

antics and sexy girls. Catch updates weekly at

Decian .com and NoSuperPants .com. When my father

disappeared and Mother Brain tried to take over

video land, I only hoped laying an ancient prophecy

that a great warrior from another world would

come to our rescue. I was a bit skeptical when

Kevin showed up, but now I don't know how we'd

ever get along without him. Hello and welcome

to the latest episode of Pixels in the Animation

Eye. I'm one of your hosts, THN Mike, and joining

me in this epic adventure is TV's Mr. Neil. A

flame flickers inside the ring of fire. Stop

breathing your dragon's breath on me. Alright,

so... Today we're gonna be continuing the Captain

N journey As we're gonna talk about the next

three episodes of this all -gen gaming cartoon

I Don't know man, it seems to me and I noticed

something with this I've noticed that since we

started up in episode 21 The same writer is writing

every single episode to this point. Yeah Into

in two weeks from now when we do episode 24 Jeffrey

Scott is writing all these episodes So at least

for season one anyway, I don't know about season

two because we haven't I haven't sort of watching

season two yet But season one the entire 13 episodes

that it was they were all written by a guy named

Jeffrey Scott Yeah, and you could tell he was

running out of steam at some point because there's

There are some episodes in here that are Really,

uh, he phoned them in Well, here's the thing

if you have the same writer and I don't know

I guess it's me in my old manitis and my wanting

continuity to everything now like everything

has to matter to me in a cartoon series at this

point like everything has to connect and I know

that's not the way it was done even back then

in the Early 90s. It still wasn't done like that

yet There's vague continuity going from episode

to episode here in Captain and a certain episodes

There's always the continuity of him wanting

to go home or you know stuff like that There's

always what I've noticed now at least by this

point I mean you might as well just have animated

a scene of him and Lana going into her room and

locking the door at this point because it's like

holy crap They are the couple of the series,

you know, this ain't no Please Zelda, please

I'm a frog You know You know, this isn't Link

begging and begging and begging and begging The

writing has been consistent to a point. There

have been a few issues here and there I I find

it troublesome when he tries to write in games

but also write in references to other stuff like

the first episode we'll talk about today. I like

Dragon Warrior, I like the references, I love

the villain in that episode, and we'll get to

that, but I'm sorry. The three men and a baby

diagonal reference or whatever the hell you wanna

call it is like, oh no. No, no, no, no, no. So

any any other general thoughts you want to get

out of the way before we get started? Just that

in regard to that episode. It's at least it didn't

have like the creepy kid in the corner You can

always count Mega Man or Kid Icarus is that creepy

All right, we're gonna get into the episodes

after this On the fantastic world of Dragon's

Den, where dragons and man lived in harmony for

a thousand years, the peace has been shattered

by the most evil dragon ever to breathe flame,

Dragon Lord. First up, today is Three Men and

a Dragon. Kevin and the N -Team journey to Dragon's

Den to battle with Mother Brain and her new ally,

Dragon Lord, who is in the process of conquering

that video world. Elements of Dragon Warrior,

also a parody of Three Men and a Baby. As I said

in the intro to this week's episode, um, no.

Jeffrey Scott, no. Don't try to parody up the

game with a movie please don't and the funny

thing as as as we're going back and watching

these for me the funny thing about some of the

cabinet episodes is that i remember them instantly

as soon as i see a few scenes like the first

maybe five or ten seconds i'm like hey i remember

this episode i remember really enjoying this

episode as a kid And for the most part that enjoyment

does stay. I have probably about the same number

of good notes that I do bad notes for this episode,

but overall I enjoyed it. I loved, even though

I can't figure out who it is, I loved the voice

of Dragon Lord. I thought that was a really,

really cool voice. Did you find it? I didn't.

No, I haven't found it. All right, so anybody

out there knows who voiced Dragon Lord and captain

in the game master. Let us know feedback at geek

cast radio calm What you or your initial thoughts

on the plot here Well, well we'll get to my thoughts

on how it connects to the game in a minute, but

this is I Don't know. I don't like I don't like

cartoons from the 90s to try to do the we're

gonna save the little innocent child slash animal

slash rainforest slash you know anything that

involves like you know trying to be such a goody

-goody that we're gonna save the the cute and

whining animal or thing or whatever it's just

oh my god every time every time this this dragon

opened its mouth and cried I wanted to punch

the screen because it's so annoying like shot

you know you know what this plot it's it's several

things it's a better version of the Berto episode

from SMB Super Show and it is not as good as

the Cosby men being pregnant in the Cosby show

because I swear to God even though I know it's

a parody of three men and a baby which I'm sorry

I to this day I still cannot stand that film

or its sequel I thought it used to be good and

I went back and watched it recently and I'm like

oh no thank you um but this is like do they really

have to do do they have to teach the three guys

because the princess and mega man were off looking

for the the weapons or the Treasures or whatever

looking for the baby dragon and the three guys

found it first Well, yes, but they they eventually

the princess and Mega Man eventually ended up

finding the the weapons The three guys found

it first because that's the kind of it's just

it's not the exact plot of three men and a baby,

but it's it's Similar to that. So it's like hey

three guys. Let's You know, let's Parody this

movie because it's three guys and a baby. Oh,

well, we have to feed it Oh, well, we have to

burp it. Oh, well, it has to go to the bathroom.

Oh, well, it has to do this It has to do that

and I'm like, oh my god, the funniest thing for

me was okay Who's Tom Selleck out of those three?

I'm gonna guess Simon If if he had worn a or

like a Hawaiian shirt that would have sealed

it Magnum PI Simon Simon Simon the vampire hunter

stars as Magnum PI you heard it here first handlebar

mustache That would have been awesome. Oh my

god The plot is generic all around and I don't

mean that in a bad way even though I'm I have

my My god, it's mmm voice going on here, but

it's generic. It's nothing we haven't seen before

sure it I've only seen videos of Dragon Warrior

I haven't I've never played the game myself and

for those who might have right written in between

the time we recorded episode 21 and now Some

of these video games even though they were on

the NES I was one of those kids that was Mario

duck hunt Zelda turtles I wasn't playing a lot

of these other games. I played Wizards and Warriors

2 once. And that was it. I've never played the

original. That's the one that had Fabio on the

cover. Yes. Yes it did. Oh god. that's why i

have neil here because he is the classic gamer

uh... and all that but uh... the game elements

were cool like i like them i like the sound effects

that there wasn't really too many i didn't notice

that many animation errors in this on the animation

is still top -notch uh... i don't know i don't

have a question on that one oh boy all right

well let's uh... go ahead and get the uh... power

pads out of the way You'll have to kill me before

I let you touch my child, Dragon Lord! Not if

I can darken your heart first! has been helpful,

Dragon Lord. Very helpful, Mother Brain. I have

darkened the hearts of all the dragons, except

one baby white. A baby? Ha! Dragon's day is as

good as ours. Not yet, Mother Brain. Baby white

dragons grow into powerful adults. I will not

rest until there are no good dragons left in

the kingdom. Give me your best shot, Simon. Don't

bother trying to return my serve, Captain N.

I learned about spotting vampires on Castlevania.

I call it my Vampire Ball. on those buttons ladies

and gentlemen okay that's the way to write a

story a video land shopkeeper didn't know what

a telephone was because there's so many times

that a writer might you know flub up on that

and it would be a plot a very very small plot

hole that they might know what it is and an end

team needs no brains well when it comes to Simon

yeah there's No gray matter in his head. Yep,

I was right. Kevin is from California because

he does say he was a valley kid. Right. Duke

milks the cow and Simon fails. So funny. Lactating

cow on command. It's kind of like Mater scaring

a tractor. from cars oh god yay lightning saves

the day eye roll even though that is a good moment

it's like I don't know what did you like about

this one well I thought it was kind of hip that

they did a dragon warrior episode in the first

place I mean at this time Nintendo you know there

were no RPGs on the NES so They were really popular

in Japan, especially Dragon Warrior, so they

ported it over and they were really kind of pushing

it hard. They had to give away a Nintendo power.

So for it to appear here, I think Nintendo probably

pushed Geek to do an episode about this game.

I thought it was kind of cool that it even existed

at all. That's pretty much all I have, though.

Alright, let's go get zapped. We're dead vegetables!

We're not gonna eat you, you idiots. We're your

dragons. Get on! Give me a boot! Alright, so

we are getting zapped. I only have a couple,

I know you probably have a whole tirade on this.

How the hell did Eggplant Wizard get electrocuted?

She didn't even touch him with one of her tentacles.

Did it just pop out of the top of her brain jar

or something? I don't know how he got electrocuted.

At all. Okay, sure, it's a nitpick on my part,

but it's just one of the things I noticed. In

the cave scene. Kid, Icarus. his beady eye back

and forth back and forth it's like okay we get

it you're afraid you can animators you can emote

that in someone's shivering or shaking or have

his wings shake or something you don't have to

have his eye go back and forth a million miles

a second after i wrote this note i realized that

it was because they they did it this way to show

the baby dragon flying but I got really pissed

when kid says it's the baby white and Kid Icarus

is fucking flying over the baby and then Kevin

says grab my hand and then the baby falls why

couldn't kid just fly under the baby and push

him up I understand it though that the whole

point of the baby falling was to see if he could

learn how to fly even though it was a you know

a whole you know very long driving that that

drop was like all my god while he couldn't come

out of that one uh... look iran calicus uh...

uh... he he he he he he he he he he he he he

he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he

he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he

he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he

he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he

he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he

he he he he Overt errors necessarily, but the

whole episode was just rough as hell. I mean

it it This looked like it was like done by the

C team at like anime friend or something. I don't

know it was It's just the way the characters

were drawn take any any still from this episode

You know any character at all and compared to

drawings from the first episode and you'll see

it immediately I mean the way they're drawn.

It's just awful but beyond that the way Dragon's

Warrior is represented in this episode is like

what the hell. I mean I understand there isn't

much of a story in Dragon Warrior in the first

place or Dragon Quest whatever you want to call

it but the original Dragon Quest it was the all

of the art for the game was done by Akira Toriyama

the artist behind Dragon Ball Z so it has kind

of this very unique style and then you see how

they're drawn in this episode and you're like

what the hell and then you know just the dragon

lord i mean the dragon lord is uh he doesn't

look like this at all in the game he's like a

wizard and he has a dragon form he's not he's

not necessarily a dragon that just kind of wanders

around and you know gets gets the i'm gonna turn

you evil gem and corrupts all the dragons which

by the way that's kind of a that's a story element

that i'm kind of tired of the the 1980s slash

1990s turned the good guy into a bad guy trope.

It's like, you know, the last time I saw that

was in the Avengers movie. And even though it

was a good movie, I kind of grumbled at that.

It's like a goddamn Loki in a stupid stick. Oh,

God, this... I mean, Dragon Warrior is kind of

a slog anyway. I mean, there are so many... There

are so many things from this game that they could

have concentrated on. Instead of concentrating

on the story of Dragon Warrior, they're kind

of nattering on about herbs and getting stat

items, which is kind of an RPG trope, but it's

not very interesting in terms of cartoon story.

Both Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy kind of

pull from... From tabletop games like Dungeons

and Dragons. I mean to the point that Tiamat

is actually in Final Fantasy the the seven -headed

dragon from Dungeons and Dragons So you could

have actually watched the Dungeons and Dragons

cartoon and gotten a better idea of what Dragon

Warrior and Final Fantasy are like Which is kind

of weird So this episode is just kind of knowing

the source material. It's kind of weird To see

how it was interpreted here Yeah, um like I said,

you know me not knowing what dragon warrior I

mean like like I said since then I've seen videos

of it but Like well, I remember when I first

watched this as a kid and still even now I'm

more so focused on the villain with the voice

and and the sound effect on his little medallion

there That was an awesome sound effect. I love

that sound effect So Alright, we're gonna move

on to the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Mother Brain

after this. God. In a desperate effort to bring

harmony to Videoland, Princess Lana has invited

Mother Brain to the Palace of Power to sign a

treaty of peace. We've done it, Duke! Peace in

Videoland at last! Mother Brain will be here

any minute. Is everything ready? I think. It's

all here, your adorableness. The official document

awaiting your beautiful signature, the official

pen awaiting the delicate grasp of your lovely

fingers, and the official inkwell. Meanwhile,

a short distance from the palace. Princess Lana

is a fool to think I would accept peace on her

terms! The only peace I'll accept is a piece

of video land! A very big piece! Why are you

taking target practice, Kid Icarus? We are at

peace! I need to be ready in case Mother Blink

is just planning another trick. Watch where you're

shooting those things! Sorry, Simonius. I can't

seem to hit the bullseye today. Here, let me

show you how a skilled archer does it. Stopicus!

That's my love at first sight arrow! When you

shoot someone with it, the first poison they

see, they fall in love with! This is just what

I need to make Princess Lana fall in love with

me. Would you mind if I borrowed this for a minute?

Simonius, wait! Alright, as I said, we are attending

a wedding. Don't know who wrote this wiki article,

but I'm sorry. It was not a curse. It was a love

arrow I'm wondering if they took these episodes

synopsis synopsis whatever the plural would doubt

that would be From the DVDs because sometimes

they do that I'm not sure and if I still had

the captain and DVD I would have looked at it

I don't remember reading this, but due to a curse

from one of the arrows used by Kid Icarus, Simon

Belmont falls in love with Mother Brain, elements

from Castlevania 2 and Kid Icarus. This plot

is Kid Icarus. This plot is mega -horrible. Even

though Mega Man very rarely had anything to do

in this episode. This plot is so stupid He's

I I just watched this before we recorded and

he's He's testing is he cleaning out his arrows

or is he testing them or oh, no, I know what

it was He he couldn't hit the target properly.

That's what it was He couldn't hit his target

because apparently he lost energy or lost Life

or did something or other I don't know and then

Simon steals one of his arrows and shoots himself

Wasn't it that they they were signing a treaty

with Mother Brain that was that's what it was

a double cross and and Kid Icarus was like the

only one was that was like what if make it what

if I almost said Megatron, you know Again, we've

seen this plot before What if what if Mother

Brain is is you know, he's lying? everyone's

like nah she wouldn't be lying practice shooting

my arrows yeah yeah and then Simon steals it

because he thinks he can use it on the princess

and at the treaty he's this is so stupid oh my

god this plot is so horrible I cannot believe

how how horrible this is first of all During

the peace treaty, everybody except Simon goes

out from behind the curtain. Behind the curtain,

in the closet, whatever, Simon hasn't come out

yet. You know, so Captain Anne, Mega Man, Princess

Lana, and Kid Icarus are all there, along with

King Hippo, Eggplant Wizard, Dr. Wily, and Mother

Brain. How does the end team not see that their

most vain... Person is not at the meeting and

he's hiding behind a curtain wanting to shoot

Lana with this arrow and instead it bounces off

Mother Brain's cookie jar and hits him in the

ass and of course The first person after he says

yeah where everybody can hear the scene that

he was behind a damn curtain What are you doing

Simon? What's going? Oh and then Mother Brain?

It's a trick. It's a trap. That's a setup and

He looks at her All of a sudden poof, you know,

love potion number number nine. He's in love

with mother. Oh God I Think we're only three

episodes into this era of the show and I'm to

the point now where it's like This is the first

episode where I'm like shoot me now Just just

shoot me now You know, we've had a lot of good

episode I mean we've had some nitpicks in some

episodes and we've had a couple of bad episodes

but like this episode is like somebody gave Jeffrey

Scott an outline of a Super Mario Brothers Super

Show episode and said make it as bad as you possibly

can So I forget I forget who said this I might

have even been Jeffrey Scott someone Someone

said that for some cartoon in the 90s, they just

basically locked him in a room for a couple hours

and said, here, write some episodes. And he wrote

them very quickly. Yeah. All right, let's go

ahead and get the power pads if there are any

after this. All those present shall bow to her

royal magnificence, Mother Brain! Mother Brain?

My little princess. Attack! Keep the double cross!

Simon, what are you doing? Get down! Get him!

Get him! Get away from me! But I love you, my

dearest Mother Brain. All right power pad moments

Simon in love with mother brain best thing to

ever happen to the true villain of the series

God green arrow would love the arrow maker all

the crazy arrows the arrow maker Because I know

in comics certain writers write green arrow to

have like a boxing glove arrow and all these

trick arrows And yeah, he would love being at

the arrow makers Thankfully there's only been

and I didn't even mention this when it happened

but when we did the wishful thinking episode

and King Hippo wanted to be a King for a day

and gorge out on food That was I believe the

only real oh my god King hippo is a hungry hungry

hippo kind of like Mario was pasta this pasta

that in Super Show yeah, and I was like and I'm

thinking now I'm like okay. I get King hippo

is fat. He's supposed to be fat, but his His

new suit is ripped down the back. Yes It looks

like he's sagging. You can actually see his red

boxers with little white hearts on them or whatever.

I will take a screen cap and put it in the post.

You can see that he must want to go to prison.

I love that every cartoon character when you

see his underwear it's always the same boxers

with hearts on them. would you like about this

one anything um i like that uh yeah i kept i

kept seeing tropes in this episode but some of

them were actually really funny like like the

the arrow maker he gives them he gives kid Icarus

uh three hate arrows and he's like okay i can

only give you three so make sure make sure your

aim counts and i'm like guaranteed he's gonna

miss the first two because that's that's always

how it goes yeah and i love that i love that

uh The first two ended up getting both Dr. Wiley

and Simon hating on the eggplant wizard. Both

times eggplant wizard's like, I didn't do it.

He's just like this poor whipping boy and we

love seeing him get hurt anyway. I'm wondering

if he, okay, I'm wondering if eggplant wizard.

If he ever runs out of vegetables cuz like that

guy spurts vegetables every You just tap him

on the shoulder and four broccoli trees are gonna

come out of him Yeah, he's always tripping of

tripping over his own feet and like What feet?

Well tripping over I know I know Any other good

points for this one Not really no all right,

let's go get zapped after this Hungry hungry

hippos is the name of the game and who's ever

a hippo gets the most marbles wins I win! Hungry

Hungry Hippos! New from Hasbro! That's a wonderful

idea, Dr. White! How would you like to prove

your love for me? You fine thing? I cherish the

thought. Good! All you have to do is help me

capture... ...Castlevania! Your wish is my command

you radiant pickled brain you all right getting

zapped My bad notes started as soon as Simon

said I Want to run away with you to a little

cottage in the woods and raise baby brain that

was nightmare fuel That was worse than watching

the first matrix movie with all the babies in

the brain babies oh god I did not see that no

okay I know I know I need to have a little bit

more of suspension of disbelief but seriously

how did Kevin get the zapper back it was dropped

into a warp zone before they were and supposedly

it was dropped in the same warp zone that they

were and he doesn't have it for a few minutes

and then a few minutes later poof he has it again

so he part of this episode should have been them

finding the stupid zapper um Simon Simon you

are not Superman I'm sorry you should not be

wearing your regular clothes under your friggin

tux So let me get this straight Lana never has

shown any affection for Simon at all in the first

God what episode are we on at this point? What

is this episode? 8 or 9? Yeah, it's episode 8

Never shown any kind of affection for Simon whatsoever

yet when she asks him if he really loved mother

rain it seems she was expecting him to say he

can only love her and then when he says himself

she gets a scornful look on her face yeah that

was out of character for both of them i mean

it at any other time in the series if she had

shown any affection for him he would have immediately

put her in the bone zone but here he's like she's

like blushing it's a very good drawing of her

blushing she looks like really Flattered and

and like in love and he just kind of like brushes

her off Yeah, very yeah very much so What did

you have for this one again, this is a plot I

think we've seen before Yeah, love potion trope.

I mean, oh my god There's you know, someone once

said that there's like seven plots that are constantly

used in old cartoons and this is definitely one

of them So the fact that they even use this,

why? And well, of course it had to be Simon.

I almost said why Simon, but it's such an obvious

choice. Yeah. But it's like, not only is he in

love with Mother Brain, but for some reason it

causes his moral barometer to completely shift.

I mean, in any other case, I think like the characters

morals would at least stay the same, but he'd

be like. He'd be like trying to convince mother

brain to turn good. No, he immediately turns

evil Yeah, yeah, that's just crazy which I realized

looking at these three episodes today, yeah We

are the trope cast because all three episodes

have tropes in them. Oh my god seen before a

trope cast Had to throw that in. See, nobody

even knows that we're referencing. Yeah, no,

I know, but at least we know it's an inside joke.

Eh. Give me that YMCA ad, I'll throw it in. Actually,

I think I still have it. I think you still have

it. Alright, we're gonna move on to the final

episode of the day before we start really talking

about stuff you people don't have any clue what

we're talking about. The Webcast Beacon Network

lair within the frightful world of Metroid, the

evil villainess Mother Brain asks a burning question

of her all -knowing computer mind mirror. Metroid

mirror on the wall. Am I the cutest of them all?

Princess Lana is the cutest chick. You're so

ugly, you make me sick. What do you know, Pert?

I will be the most beautiful woman in video land.

And you, eggplant wizard, are going to help me

do it. Me? Yes, you! You can start by making

me an apple! Uh, uh, whatever you say, Mother

Brain. Me? Magic words with which I grapple make

this brain a big juicy apple! You idiot! I don't

want to be an apple! I want to have an apple!

Look -a -cool off, Mother Brain, or you'll become

a baked apple! I can turn a princess to a pumpkin,

a prince to a ham on rye. Turning you back to

normal is as easy as apple pie! Hey, you look

pretty tasty, mother brain. Can I have a slice?

Shut up and change me back! If you don't turn

back to normal from the spell of this magical

chant... I'm tuning in my wizard badge because

I'm one day dead. And finally up today we have

Nightmare on Mother Brain Street. Mother Brain

and Dr. Wily plot to trap the N -Team in the

Nightmare Zone, a world where their worst nightmares

become reality. Elements from Wizards and Warriors,

also a parody of Snow White and the Seven Midgets.

Little people. Dwarves, elves, whatever. Okay,

most of the long time GCRN listeners will know

that I am not a fan of Snow White and the Seven

Dwarfs. Specifically the 1937. Sure, it was the

first. Without it, we wouldn't have all the Disney

films we've had the last, you know, nine. Decades

or however long it's been. I don't know I'm not

doing my math right right at this moment, but

it's like that movie is Just the movie is so

frustrating I'll put a link to tooncast classic

episode 29 where I ran on that movie in the show

the plot for this it's basically a Captain End

version of Snow White Not really because the

plot is kind of Yeah, it's kind of I Don't know

it's such a weird twist on the snow white thing

it even sleeping beauty to a certain extent mm

-hmm, you know, it's You know the whole thing

with the apples and the apples don't actually

wake her or I'm sorry The kids doesn't actually

wake her up. They have to go into the nightmare

world to find her yeah, their solution is to

fall asleep and come back and That was just dumb

Simon whips out his teddy bear before it like

fades out I'm trying to repress my Simon rage

at this point because I know I'm gonna say something

that's gonna offend people and like really offend

people more than I have in the last five years

on the GCR I kind of like Simon. He's like he's

the ice man to to Kevin's Maverick. No. Val Kilmer,

Mike. I know. But no, I know who Val Kilmer is.

Thank you very much. No, no, no, no. Plus, you

know, that kind of thing would give Simon nightmares

because you've seen Val Kilmer lately. Imagine

Simon looking like that. Yeah, okay, let's any

other thoughts on the plot right really All right,

we're gonna go grab the powerpads Yes, buy an

apple from a poor soul only 25 cents. I don't

think so. I'm having Pizza for lunch. Go ahead

you four -legged little thief. I dare you to

eat that On second thought, that apple is beginning

to sound pretty good. Sorry about that, Princess.

Don't worry about the pizza, Kevin. I just bought

my lunch. Don't you like fairytales? You remember

this one. The beautiful princess eats the poison

apple and falls into a deep sleep. And the handsome

prince, ha! I suppose that's you, has to wake

her out of the spell. It's also the one where

the prince destroys the ugly witch, isn't it?

That's the one. Shut up, you mental midget! You'd

better hurry, Captain Anne. The princess is in

Castle Hotspot, and if she isn't awake before

midnight, she'll sleep forever! Alright, put

those power pads down. I do really love seeing

Wizards and Warriors featured. I think it's a...

I think it's a really cool way to show the game

off, even though they might not be using a lot

of the game elements. Not really, no. I know

this is supposed to be the end of the bad moments,

but every time, the majority, every time I'm

seeing Simon, he's so infuriating. Um, Gary Chuck

as Megatron, I mean Malkiel. I will say though

that Simon's nightmares are awesome. I love them.

Oh yeah, see? That's what makes Simon great.

Yeah, only in his nightmares though. Although

they missed the golden comedy moment. You know,

for one of his nightmares they should have just

flashed back to the... to the brain babies oh

no yeah that would have been a nice little continuity

nod and as i said in the intro to the podcast

i actually stole one of my notes for the intro

see kevin only has to ask once or not ask at

all versus link you know begging what did you

like about this one anything just simon being

a complete ass throughout the episode. The whole

thing with the portrait, he's like, here's a

portrait missing in this hall. Me! And then,

of course, it lands on his head and he ruins

the picture. And he still has it around his neck

when they go into the wizards and warriors. Yeah.

Oh, that's why I wrote down in the good moments

that he's so infuriating. The whole picture thing,

it needs me up. Oh, God. a picture of me Simon

Belmont vampire sucker oh god yeah no his nightmare

was just classic it's like everything that he

he would never want happened to him you know

he it didn't turn him a fat i think that should

have been like the last beat like him just growing

a big beer gut like uh like king hippo all his

teeth fall out his hair falls out Yeah. He's

like, my beautiful hair, get back in there, stupid

hair. Yeah. Like I said, I love Simon's nightmares.

Simon in real life, nah. Any other good moments?

No, that's pretty much it. It was just like a

beat on Simon episode. Yeah, pretty much. All

right. Let's go get Zapped. Duke! Here, boy!

Serves you right for eating the whole thing come

on. We're going to Excalibur Across the vastness

of video land on the mystical world of Excalibur

It's been a while since I've played this game.

I think that's the way to cancel Iron Spire.

Come on, Duke. Get the lad out, Simon! Show off.

Simon Pelmont can climb trees as well as any

teenager with a power pad. If you're a good boy,

I may teach you that trick someday. I look forward

to it. So long, Catherine! Looks like I'll be

seeing her loveliness before you! And when I

do, I'll give her a great... big... sad thing

is I only have two zapped moments thought I was

gonna have a lot more and I guess a couple of

my um power pad moments were zapped moments but

oh well um super giant eye roll seven warp dwarves

really they had to be called the warp dwarves

you know it's not like there's a trademark on

those that that story is so old Like Disney was

gonna come you know come put the fan hammer on

them Yeah Even though I love you. I love your

nightmare Simon. I'm sorry he has a monogrammed

comb That was You know what it should have said?

SBVH. And if you took out the B, he'd be going

a sweet valley high. Oh no. What, didn't you

like about this one? The seven stupid dwarves

and... You know, weird interpretation of Mal

'Kael. He's supposed to be like this... You know,

I guess they kind of gave him his own character,

but he's kind of... a more traditional wizard

in the game and uh actually you see a more traditional

version of him in the power team you know the

the cartoon that has uh uh quirk and tyrone from

uh yeah bigfoot yeah imagine if that if that

had been a crossover with captain n that would

have been so awesome i think i'm writing in on

bigfoot i would love to cover the power team

on this show but i don't even think they've ever

had any releases for that Yeah, I think that

show is just firmly forgotten. That's that's

the acclaim. Yeah, although show all those video

games were released by a claim That's why I was

so surprised when wizards and warriors showed

up in this yeah, I was like wow That cuz cure

isn't Curious one of the Power team members.

Yeah Yeah, cuz he's supposed to be the stand

-in for if you look at the power team Maybe minus

Bigfoot. You look at the actual physical members.

Aren't they supposed to be all stand -ins for

certain members of the Avengers? Like, Kuros

is supposed to be a stand -in for Thor. A little

bit. I mean, I know I'm stretching here, but

yeah. Alright, well, that's gonna do it. We are

gonna go to another video game musical interlude.

And a couple of ads. And we will come back with

Final Fox ratings and close out the show after

this. Are you looking for a weekly dose of gaming

news and retro? Then check out Off the Cuff,

available Fridays on GeekCast Radio Network from

the producers of XRG. New name, same ****. Alright,

we are back and before we close it out, we're

gonna rate each of the three episodes today.

Three Men and a Dragon. I like the voice acting,

but sure the plot is your standard trope. I don't

know, I'll give it a three out of five. It's

enjoyable for the most part, simply for the voice

acting of the villain, and some of the stuff

that Kevin does. What about you? I'll give it

a one. I was mildly offended by the way Dragon

Warrior was adapted and the animation that's

just kind of like we don't seem to care. I mean

there are some shots of the baby dragon where

he's flying and his wings aren't even moving.

Come on. Alright. Oh boy. Mr. and Mrs. Mother

Brain. Gotta give it a zero. I think it's the

first zero. I've given out for this series, but

I just Baby brains freaked me the hell out It

wasn't a bad episode it was kind of dumb and

trophy but You know, I I can't hate an episode

where Simon's just being a dick Nightmare on

Mother Brain Street. I'll give it a 2. Again,

I really loathe Simon Belmont. I really do. Even

though I love his nightmares. It's the only reason

why it doesn't get a zero is because his nightmares

were awesome. What about you? Yeah, I'll give

it a 2 as well. You notice that Simon seems to

be getting a lot of episodes for some reason.

I think it's just that the writers really liked

him and they were like, hey, let's do another

episode where Simon's just getting, just being

a total ass. And so we'll just keep writing jokes

about him. Yeah, but the setup was just kind

of lame and par for the course with 90s cartoons.

You know, the way it resolved was kind of done

really quickly. They wrapped it up very fast.

It was like, hey, we're back, and now we're going

to make you eat apples. And they basically threw

apples into the mouths of all the bad guys. Yeah.

And then it was over. Yay, we won. And shouldn't

Mother Brain and, you know, Mother Brain and

her minions are not as smart as the end team.

So it's like they should have been gone forever.

So. Yeah, that's true. But no, they eventually

come back. Yeah, all right Yeah, that's that's

gonna do it for us. What do you get coming up

on no super pants calm well last week we I had

a special guest write a a robin the boy wonder

parody comic featuring a a character dressed

similarly and in little pants and Domino mask

and it was kind of a funny story this week. We

have a friend Pablo Prano doing a comic in which

to see and gets turned into a baby by a by the

nefarious pacifier It's it's a really fucked

up story, but it's hilarious You're having Pablo

put the scene in sky -high really no, it's like

It's... That's the plot of the movie, though.

Okay. You've never seen Sky High, have you? No,

I haven't. It's Kurt Russell and Kelly Preston

as the parents, uh, as the super parents, uh,

uh, Jetstream and... Oh, God, what's his name?

Ugh. Crap, I can't remember Kurt Russell's character's

name. But anyway, his archenemy, Royal Pain,

Her best weapon was called a pacifier and it

basically turns everybody into babies Okay Thank
