About this Episode

Mike and Dan wrap up GCRN's Bond Month with their thoughts on Skyfall, Daniel Craig's 23rd Bond film. They discuss how director Sam Mendes and cinematographer Roger Deakins create the franchise's most visually stunning entry, praise Javier Bardem's performance as villain Raul Silva, and explore how the film brings classic Bond sensibilities into Craig's era. The episode covers the standout opening sequence, the film's technical achievements, its similarities to The Dark Knight, and some minor missteps including the Eve Moneypenny reveal.

Hello and welcome to Shaken, Not Stirred. MWIRE

is spotted on the Bond films, which is brought

to you by the GeekCast Radio Network and Audible

.com. I am one of your hosts, Dave, Joe, and

Mike, and joining me as always is movie role

Dan. Hello. Hello. Today we're going to be wrapping

up our Shaken, Not Stirred series here in MWIRE

with Bond 23. Movie that most people thought

would never happen since MGM went bankrupt But

we are here to talk about the ever impressive

skyfall I I know you went to see this in the

theater Glorious IMAX and it was an awesome experience

not gonna lie I Had to acquire it through other

means cuz I'm a poor bastard Don't ask don't

tell Hey, that's a that's a Brosnan era reference

anyway But yes skyfall is the 23rd entry into

the Bond film franchise and by far the best Daniel

Craig movie to this point I Said in I believe

I believe I said in casino. I might have said

it in quantum. I don't know Casino Royale and

Quantum of Boredom, to me, are an alternate universe

to Classic Bond. Skyfall, for me, brings it back

around to the Classic Bond era. So I almost wish

we could... I know this would make no sense for

the films because of the way Judi Dench is...

Career in the bond franchise goes, but if we

could almost put skyfall then casino then quantum

or Just essentially a race casino in quantum

and this be Daniel Craig's first bond outing.

I would Not have any objections. I don't think

oh my god. This film was so awesome See I would

have objections to racing senior. Oh, but I think

and I think you need that because I think it

makes It makes what this is I think that much

sweeter seeing what where bond came and like

how he evolved as a character I think makes a

lot of these moments so much more meaningful

and his relationship with M Having seen them

even in two movies even in quantum, which was

which I mean if you erase that I'm not gonna

I'm not gonna yell and won't be against it, but

but yeah, I I still have a soft spot for Christina,

but Think if you're looking in overall as a film

and their overall quality piece by piece. I would

say skyfall is Craig's best and I think it's

an honestly one of my favorite films of the year

and I will be doing a post where I rank all Of

the Bond films and I typically don't like to

rank a movie when it just comes out because I

feel like it's just You're gonna kind of over

rank stuff all the time or under rank stuff when

it just comes out but I'm gonna Skyfall someplace

and it's definitely not gonna be near the bottom.

That's what I'm just gonna say Well, okay, if

you're ranking it amongst the franchise films

I don't see why you wouldn't include it even

though it is fairly new now if you're gonna rank

it on Like top 20 of the past 10 years or top,

you know, like something that's putting it amongst

other films I could see not Not putting it on

the list because it is so new but amongst the

Bond films themselves you kind of put this one

on that list because somewhere obviously because

it it's yeah, so well just explain the reason

why uh my issue is because I think it's impossible

to like with a clean with a You know clean eyes

to rank something that just came out compared

to something that came out 50 years ago I think

trying to kind of Put those two together. Sometimes

you kind of overhype things, you know what I

mean? Like it's like when any other any rinky

came out for best Comic book movie when Dark

Knight came out. It's always gonna be there on

top It's probably still gonna be near the top

now But when anything of greatness comes out

sometimes we overhype them and that's why I'm

a little bit hesitant But in the end I decided

to and I think people will be happy where it

ends up Awesome. So let's kick it over to JT

from Saskatoon who was going to be here but um...

yeah he uh... apparently had a second tooth filled

with cyanide so sadly JT's not here but he does

have his thoughts in on the uh... just the facts

for Skyfall we'll be back after this James Bond's

latest adventure begins with him in Istanbul,

Turkey searching for a laptop containing high

-level intel. Bond finds the laptop, minus the

hard drive, with Ronson, another MI6 agent who's

been fatally wounded. Bond chases after the enemy

agent Patrice, along with Eve, another MI6 agent

who's been partnered with Bond. Bond and Eve

follow Patrice through the streets of Istanbul

until he sees them and takes off on a motorcycle.

Bond follows suit and soon 007 is sailing on

rooftops after his target. The pair end up on

a speeding train and engage in a bit of hand

-to -hand while Eve races ahead to take up position

with her rifle. As the train nears, Eve takes

aim with her rifle but is unable to get a clear

shot at Patrice. Back in London, MI6 Director

M, who has been listing in on the situation,

orders Eve to take the shot. Eve fires, narrowly

missing Patrice and hits Bond. instead who falls

into the river below believed to be dead. A couple

of days later, M is writing Bon's obituary when

she is called to meet with Gareth Mallory, the

Chairman of the Intelligence and Oversight Committee.

Mallory reveals the hard drive in the laptop

contained the identities of every deep -covered

NATO agent and terrorist groups the world over.

Because of M's perceived failure to recover the

hard drive, Mallory suggests M retire rather

than being forced to quit, to which M refuses.

But while on her way back to MI6, M's aide Tanner

discovers someone hacking into the MI6 database

from M's office. But before they can get back,

a violent explosion erupts from M's office, killing

several people. News of the explosion reaches

a very much alive Bond, who's took the opportunity

to fake his death after getting shot. Bond returns

to London upon hearing the news and asks M if

he may rejoin the service. And she agrees, but

she puts him through field agent training again

to be certain. Bond finds it difficult to re

-qualify for his 00 status largely due to the

injuries he has suffered from his untimely demise.

One of which is some shrapnel lodged in his shoulder

that he got during his train fight with Patrice,

which Bond suspects may lead him to his target.

After the test, Bond meets with M. N. Mallory,

who is taking on Eve as an assistant. Bond is

told by his director that he has been cleared

for active duty. His first assignment is to track

down Patrice, find out who he works for, and

kill him before he strikes again. Before he leaves

on assignment, Bond meets with the new quartermaster

of MI6, a skinny young man known only as Q. The

talented young man brings Bond his documentation,

a radio beacon, and his new sidearm, a Walther

PPK with a hand -grip sensor so that only Bond

can use it. Analysis of the shrapnel from Bond's

shoulder yields a lead that points 007 to Shanghai.

Upon arriving, Bond locates and trails Patrice

as he heads for a new assignment. The assignment

turns out to be an assassination of a wealthy

man in a hotel, which Patrice sets up for in

the building opposite. Bond sneaks in, but fails

to stop the assassination, and the secret agent

and the assassin engage in another fight which

ends when Bond knocks Patrice out a window. 007

tries to get the name of Patrice's boss, but

to no avail as Patrice allows himself to fall

to his death. Before escaping the building, Bond

searches Patrice's bags and discovers a poker

chip worth 40 million euros, meant as the assassin's

payment. After returning to his hotel room, Bond

is visited by Eve, who has volunteered to aid

007 as means of making up for her s***. The pair

then travel to a casino in Macau, China, where

Bond cashes the chip in. He also encounters Severine,

a mysterious beauty who is in the hotel room

during the assassination. Bond starts to pump

her for information, asking to meet her employer,

who obviously scares the Dragon Lady because

she tries to warn Bond off. Seeing that she is

being watched, Severine says she will take him

to be her boss, but only if Bond will kill him.

As Bon goes to leave, he is accosted by Severine's

bodyguards. Bon knocks two of them out with Eve's

help, but then falls with another into a pit

containing some Komodo dragons. When one thug

is carried away into the dark by one of the huge

beasts, Bon escapes the pit and goes after Severine.

After he makes his way onto the boat, he finds

Severine in her cabin and makes love to her while

they sail away. The next day, they arrive at

an island full of abandoned derelict buildings

in the South China Sea. Bon is separated from

Sabine and is taken to meet her boss, the ambiguously

flamboyant Raoul Silva. Sylva greets Bond warmly,

revealing he is former MI6 under the direct command

of M, and he is out for revenge on M because

he believes she betrayed him. Some years ago,

Sylva was left to be tortured by the enemy by

M, who thought his methods and tactics overstepped

his bounds. Turning to cyber -terrorism, Raoul

controls a server farm that allows him to access

any computer network anywhere in the world, which

is how he caused the explosion at MI6. He also

reveals to Bond that M set him into play under

false pretenses knowing that he failed his qualifying

tests. Silva then takes Bond out into a courtyard

where a beaten and bloody civilian stands tied

to a fallen statue. Sylva then takes Bond out

into a courtyard where a beaten and bloody Severine

stands tied to a fallen statue. Sylva places

a small glass of whiskey on her head and challenges

Bond to a little game of William Tell, whoever

knocks the glass off her head wins. Bond still

hasn't got his groove back as he misses, perhaps

even on purpose. Rawool then takes his shot and

kills Severine. Snapping out of his fugue, Bond

kills all of Silva's guards and activates his

radio beacon. The British Royal Navy soon arrive

and capture Silva, extraditing him back to the

UK. Once Silva is locked up in the new underground

MI6, M goes with Bond to question Silva, but

Silva starts demanding to know why she left him

behind. M tells Silva if he didn't want to be

tortured, he should have used his cyanide capsule,

which to form an agent response that he did.

He then proceeds to pull a dental plate out of

his mouth that forms his upper jaw and part of

his left cheekbone. The damage horrifies M, who

Silva tells that his cyanide had gone bad and

eaten away at part of his mouth when he used

it. M then leaves to attend a parliamentary meeting

that will determine the future of MI6, while

Silva laughs and puts the plate back in. Meanwhile

in Q branch, Q is trying to access Silva's computer

that Bon brought back from the island, but unwittingly

uploads a virus that opens all the locked doors

in MI6 including a sewer grate in Silva's cell

that he has escaped through. Bond immediately

pursues the crafty Sylva into the London Underground,

where the madman is not only arranged to disguise

himself as police officer, but also derails a

subway train that nearly crushes Bond. After

losing Sylva in a train station, Bond heads for

the parliamentary meeting, sure that Sylva will

try again to kill M. Just as M is spelling out

to the committee how and why MI6 is necessary,

Sylva and his men burst in, guns drawn. His men

holding the crowd hostage, Sylva steps forward

to confront M when Bond arrives and opens fire.

Along with Mallory and Eve, 007 is able to rescue

M and escape the building. Knowing Silva will

never stop looking for M, Bond contacts Q and

has him leave a digital trail for Silva to follow

as they make their escape. Bond takes M to a

storage locker where he retrieves his fully loaded

Aston Martin DB5, and they head out of the city

and towards Scotland. Bond takes M deep into

the moors of Scotland to Skyfall, his family

estate, figuring the further away from people

they are, the less likely Silva will be able

to use anyone against them. Bond introduces M

to estate gameskeeper Kincaid, who in turn helps

M and Bond set up some Home Alone -style booby

traps for Silva and his men. As evening falls,

the first wave of Silva's mercs approach the

house, but Bond, hidden in the Aston Martin,

uses the machine gun headlights to mow them down.

Their reprieve is slight as the second wave soon

arrives, led by Silva, who drops grenades into

the house from his helicopter. Several of his

men gain entry to the house, but they are either

taken out by the traps or by Bond and Kincaid

themselves. During the assault, M is injured,

taking a bullet in the side. As the house begins

to burn, Bond orders Kincaid to take M out through

an escape tunnel under the moor to the Old Family

Chapel. 007 covers their escape by blowing up

some gas tanks and dynamite, which then take

out the helicopter and most of the attackers,

except for Silva and his two remaining henchmen.

Sylva sees Kincaid's flashlight in the distance

and gives chase after them. Bond, meanwhile,

escaping out of the tunnel, makes short work

of the first goon he comes across. He goes after

Sylva and becomes trapped between the last goon

and his boss, but escapes by shooting a hole

in the ice over the frozen lake and dragging

the goon down with him. After choking the bad

guy out, Bond makes his way out of the lake before

he freezes and heads for the chapel. Sylva makes

it there first and finds him sitting on one of

the pews. After warning off Kinkade, Silva discovers

M's wound and tries to make her shoot herself

so the bullet will also kill him, revealing his

own need to die. Just as he is about to make

her pull the trigger, Bon enters and throws a

knife into Silva's back, killing him. Bon rushes

to M's side, but it's too late. M succumbs to

her wounds and passes away, leaving a saddened

and distraught 007. A few days later, Bond is

on a rooftop looking over London when Eve approaches

and tells him that she won't be going back into

the field, feeling she isn't cut out to be a

field agent. Bond is sorry to hear this, but

tells her that he feels safer all the same. They

go back indoors, and when they enter an office,

Bond mentions that they've never actually been

formally introduced. You know, we've never formally

been introduced. Oh. Well, my name's Eve. Eve

Moneypenny. I look forward to our time together,

Miss Moneypenny. Me too. I'm sure we'll have

one or two close shaves. After they meet officially,

Bond enters the offices of the new director of

MI6, Gareth Mallory. Mallory and 007 exchange

pleasantries before Mallory tosses a mission

folder on the desk and asks Bond if he's ready

to get back to work. Skyfall opened on October

26th in the UK and in the US on November 9th,

2012 to very positive reviews, as it currently

holds a 92 % frustrating on RottenTomatoes .com.

A number of critics, such as Roger Eben and Ryan

Gilby, praised Daniel Craig's performance. Ebert

said that Craig took possession of the role more

so than he had in the first two films, and Gilby

said that he felt Craig relaxed into the role

more so than he had without losing any of his

stealiness. The supporting cast also won some

acclaim. Roger Ebert said that Skyfall finally

gave Judi Dench material worthy of her talent,

and that she was all but the co -star of the

film, while Harvey Bardem won praise from critic

Henry K. Miller, who said that his performance

as Silva was the most authentically Bondian Bond

villain in decades. Not that the film didn't

get any criticism. Among other things, some critics

did not like the two and a half hour running

time, some felt the final act did not have the

same pace as the first two, and most critics

claimed there was no chemistry between Craig

and his co -star Naomi Harris. Speaking of the

cast, the film starred Daniel Craig as 007, Judi

Dench as M, Harvey Bardem as Raul Silva, Naomi

Harris as Miss Moneypenny, Rafe Fiennes as Gareth

Mallory, and Bernice Marleau as the film's Bond

Girl Sevrine. The film was directed by Sam Mendes,

who is most famously known for his work directing

American Beauty, Jarhead, and The Road to Perdition.

Did you know that in the 50 years of the franchise

that Bond has only been shot twice? He gets shot

in Skyfall, something that hasn't happened since

Thunderball in 1965. And did you also know that

Daniel Craig starts preparing for a Bond film

six months beforehand and works out two hours

a day during principal photography to handle

the physical demands of the role? And the passport

that Daniel Craig uses in the film is actually

legit. Sort of. It's an actual document produced

by the British Home Office, and it is encoded

with information that would flag it as fake if

it was ever used as an actual passport. Skyfall

also takes its place among the longest -running

Bond films alongside Casino Royale and On Her

Majesty's Secret Service. All three films clock

in at over 140 minutes running time. The film,

which saw the return of the classic silver birch

Aston Martin DB -5, is the sixth appearance of

the famed vehicle in the series, having appeared

in Goldfinger, Thunderball, GoldenEye, Tomorrow

Never Dies, and, of course, Casino Royale. The

film's theme song, Skyfall, was sung by British

singer -songwriter Adele, and was released online

on October 5th, 2012, dubbed James Bond Day by

producers, as it marked exactly 50 years to the

day of the release of Dr. No in 1962. Skyfall

is by far one of my favourite Bond movies, and

it is definitely my favourite Daniel Craig Bond

movie. Craig finally seemed comfortable in the

role, and not only that, but I got the sense

he was finally having fun with it. Judi Dench

was no sludge either, bringing her A -game and

making her last hurrah one of her best performances

in the series. As well as Harvey Bardem, whose

performance as Sylva is easily one of my favourite

Bond villains of all time. But you know what

I love the most? The Komodo Dragons. Because

Komodo dragons are cool. Just saying. This has

been Just the Facts for Skyfall. I'm JT from

Saskatoon, now back to Mike, Dan, and well, me,

At M -Wire. Always makes me feel a little melancholy.

Grand old warship being ignominiously hauled

away for scrap. The inevitability of time, don't

you think? What do you see? A bloody big ship.

Excuse me. 007. I'm your new quartermaster. You

must be joking. Why, because I'm not wearing

a lab coat? Because you still have spots. My

complexion is hardly relevant. And your competence

is? Age is no guarantee of efficiency. And youth

is no guarantee of innovation. Well, Hazard,

I can do more damage on my laptop sitting in

my pajamas before my first cup of Earl Grey than

you can do in a year in the field. Oh, so why

do you need me? Every now and then a trigger

has to be pulled. Or not pulled. It's hard to

know which in your pyjamas. Q. 007. Ticket to

Shanghai. Documentation and passport. Thank you.

And this. Author PPKS, nine millimetre short.

There's a microdermal sensor in the grip. It's

been coded to your palm prints so only you can

fire it. Less of a random killing machine, more

of a personal statement. And this? Standard issue

radio transmitter. Activate it and it broadcasts

your location. Distress it. And that's it. Gun.

Sorry to you. Not exactly Christmas, is it? Were

you expecting an exploding pen? We don't really

go in for that anymore. Good luck out there in

the field. And please return the equipment in

one piece. Brave New World. Thank you as always

JT for doing such excellent work with the Just

the Facts stuff here in MWIRE. As always we're

going to talk about the cast. The main cast of

Skyfall was officially announced at a press conference

held at the Corinthia Hotel in London on November

3rd, 2011. 50 years to the day since Sean Connery

was announced to play James Bond in the film

Dr. No. So that's interesting. Daniel Craig returns,

obviously. Thoughts on the skyfall of Craig?

This is his best performance as Bond For one

they give him so much to do like his character

and what he goes through from beginning and how

he's a broken Person and how he is kind of almost

depressed in a way and what he becomes is It's

a great transition and also I think Craig is

having a little more fun with it. Like I mentioned

in Casino Royale He didn't really have much of

a swagger to him. He wasn't that swell of character,

but he's kind of growing into that. And I think

this is when he puts all the pieces together

and really become James Bond. Yeah, I agree.

As I said, even though I liked certain parts

of Casino, I still think this film could have

worked as his first outing, because this film,

we finally get more about Bond. We've never really

gotten, you know, there's been hints here and

there about his past, you know. Outside of this

film, the only time, to my knowledge, his parents

were ever mentioned is when Trevelyan mentions

them in GoldenEye. You know. But yeah, his acting

in this is so awesome. Just so great. And of

course, you have Judi Dench back as Em. I in

a way like Chris said Craig is this his best

performance I think it's her best performances

and mainly because of again She's giving so much

to do like really in a lot of ways a lot of this

movie is her movie Yeah, and having someone like

that and she completely knocks it out of the

park You have Javier boredem or bar damn, excuse

me as Raul Silva Tiago Rodriguez is his real

name the film's main antagonist Okay, so This

is GoldenEye 2 essentially because it's instead

of it being a former friend or Of James it's

a former employee of M or a former agent of M.

Oh wow Really strange way to throw in an X -Men

reference there. Wow But But yeah, I thought

him as Silva was just creepy as all hell Yeah

I mean part of it Bardem has given us two awesome

like something to the greatest villains ever

and the country for old men and with Silva and

Skyfall Two characters on the different ends

of the spectrum completely and he's I mean, he

all he steals every moment He's and like he is

one of the best bond villains ever and he's not

in the movie that much but every moment he's

there he makes the most of it and he's flamboyant

yet he is like Fearsome and he's great. I love

bardam. He's one of the not one of just the best

performances Of a bond film, but one of the best

performances of this year thus far. It's awesome.

I love I love his character so much Yeah, it's

it's so So amazingly well done The character

is always one step ahead of of everybody you

have the Avenger himself Ralph finds cheese.

Oh, yeah, I think he would hope people forget

about that No one will ever forget about the

movie called the Avengers that is not the Marvel

Marvel movie As Gareth Mallory, yeah Okay, so

hold on before you get into your thoughts on

Ralph as Gareth In casino we didn't really mention

this but bond pretty much says in casino. Oh,

so that's what and stands for i just thought

it was a designated look letter i didn't know

it stood for in the sheet you know and you know

it was it was in that show right but i put that

clip in there but uh... what i'm noticing about

the character of m is that and is somewhere in

agents name somewhere and not the first time

i watched it but the second and third time cuz

i watched skyfall three times before i saw before

recorded this i watched it when it first came

out I watched it like I don't know two weeks

later and then I watched it for this and If you

see it enough times That you catch on you're

like, oh Gareth Mallory He's gonna be the new

M. It's it's so it's not obvious to the first

time viewer like the first time you see it But

it's so obvious on multiple viewings. Yeah, I

think to why I didn't pick it up one. It's refined

sense of play villains like he's always he's

voldemort like he he's tenderly he sends to play

more evil characters and they set his character

up as I thought okay he's gonna be in cahoots

with silva because just the way he's acting but

I love his turnaround um and I love how what

he becomes like that that's a looks like an awesome

touch you know it's like the cherry on top of

sunday just what what the hell they end the movie

but yeah I love race of finds in this and I think

it was perfect casting for what they wanted to

do I'm looking forward to seeing him in other

Bond films. We should mention that we're probably

going to spoil the hell out of this movie. Oh,

yes. If you don't want to be spoiled, ladies

and gentlemen, turn the thing off and go watch

the damn movie. There will be a lot of spoilers

in this. You've got... Wait, oh, okay. You've

got... Bernice lit I You've got severing. I I

don't know how to pronounce the actress's name.

No fucking clue She is I Don't know she's um

Silva's girlfriend, I guess I would say she's

more of I mean, she's basically a sex slave in

a way she's Yeah. She's a call girl, I guess.

I think she's more of a tool, Silva, that she

uses at his casino. But I don't think he has

any feeling. I don't think Silva's the type of

character that has a girlfriend. Just thinking.

But yeah, I think she's more of just a sex slave

that works at one of those at the casino. Yeah.

You've got Naomi Harris as Eve. We are not spoiling

Her just yet Okay, cuz I have a huge It just

yeah, I don't know alright, so we've got Eve.

She's the other bond girl You have been Wishaw.

I believe is how his name is pronounced as the

new Q thoughts on Q jr. I Love him as Q. I think

it was a great way to kind of bring him in I

think he's a good update for that character I

loved how they didn't try to kind of just do

what was done before because they realized you

know They can't they need to do something different

and it stays in line with that character But

it falls for today and I think like the relationship

between him and Craig was perfect And it was

just what we want with those two characters.

Yeah You know I pointed out to someone on on

get glue that With classic bond because this

is Even up to even even up to the Brosnan era

I consider that classic bond because this was

the the Craig era as we said was kind of such

a almost a hard reboot of you know changing directions

and not just going away from what what the norm

was for bond I pointed out that Bond in the classic

era was younger, not necessarily saying that

James Bond was young in the classic era, but

he was younger than Q, Desmond Llewellyn's Q.

Whereas here, you've got a switch. Everyone is

older than Q in this Bond M, both Ms, you know.

All of these people are older than he is but

he brings that that young Approach to it and

I really liked it. I thought it was interesting

Yeah, good little old school versus new school,

which is kind of a theme that plays out in this

movie a lot. Oh, yeah You've got Albert Finney

as Kincaid Sean Connery was almost approached

to play the role in the nod for it being the

50th anniversary of the film series I'm glad

that he didn't do it. moment of this huge reveal

just the way he is like brought into the film

and like it's in the kind of like hole on him

the camera on him like it's like hey look who

it is and I think now that you mentioned that

Sean Connery was almost approached it fits because

I could see that him having Connery fit that

character um I don't know how it would feel if

they went with Connery it would be I'd love to

see Connery again because he hasn't acted you

know he's been retired but I don't know if that

every it would be too You'd be too stuck on the

fact that it's Connery and then like not be able

to appreciate anything else you'd be like wait

Why is Connery there and like you'd miss out

on the extra movie? I think I don't know and

it wouldn't be good if Connery was there anyway

because the Albert Finney version of King Kade

Raised Bond from a child, you know after his

parents get killed You know what I mean? That

would be too weird because Connery is Bond that

that wouldn't work at all Yeah, I don't I think

if he came in he'd be saying playing that same

character Like he wouldn't be playing an older

body would just be it'd be kind of a nod just

kind of like hey Well, well if he came this would

be so stupid and people are probably gonna crucify

that meet me for this if like saying the ministry

scene if Connery was just there And they had

something saying, hey, this is agent 0077 or

something. You know, I'm not saying that 77 is

a unique number or anything else, but obviously

007 is, you know. If they had something homaging

him, like a James Bond senior or something that

still kept Connery as Bond, but obviously it

wouldn't be the current day Bond, I would have

been perfectly happy with it. Just a cameo. Yeah,

to put him in this role would not have worked

at all. It would be, it would be too, it would

feel like just like a pandering and the entire

third act would be kind of ruined, I think, so.

Yeah. You got Rory Kinnear as Bill Tanner, the

MI6 Chief of Staff. Now, I want to talk about

Tanner for a bit, because I... Before... The

Brosnan era, I didn't really even pay any attention

to Tanner whatsoever. He was in The Man with

the Golden Gun, played by Michael Goodliff, who

was uncredited. He was in For Your Eyes Only,

as played by James Villars. And then, you know,

Golden Eye Through the World... Golden Eye in

the World is not enough. He was played by Michael

Kitchen. in quantum and skyfall he was played

by rory knier now i don't mind that i don't mind

rory knier's version of tanner because it fits

the style of the craig era but at the same time

i found myself watching skyfall i'm like why

couldn't michael kitchen have done this i liked

his version of tanner just as well as this one

yeah and i guess it would make sense since judy

dench came back too to kind of keep that that

tanda exactly And that's the other thing about

the Craig era that I'm kind of missing. I miss

Robinson, damn it. So let's see here. What did

we think of the pre -title sequence for this

one? It was fantastic, honestly. I mean, if I

were to compare it, I mean, I don't know if it's

as good as the moment. with the chase sequence

in Casino Royale with the parkour. But it's right

up there. I just, the overall, I mean, train

sequences are blonde lore. I mean, there's so

many of them and I think this might be the best

one. I just think it's high octane. It's action,

but it's easy to follow and shot really well.

And I think it starts the movie on a really high

it all works really well. And I love the opening

sequence. Yeah, the opening sequence is just

amazing It's just awesome. It's high -action.

I love how Eve is like whoops He's bond is like

yeah, you weren't using that mirror anyway And

then she just essentially quips right back at

him. Well, I wasn't using that one either. Yeah

You know, I I just love this the only thing and

I will mention this again One thing I hate about

this movie It's it's a little slight nitpick.

I don't get it. They've done it kind of throughout

the whole Craig era mom or ma 'am or mom make

up your friggin mind, which one are you gonna

call her it just It it's something so trivial

that it doesn't take away from my enjoyment of

Skyfall at all, but it just Every time everyone's

calling her calling him mum and I just I don't

I don't like that at all I see that's like almost

a sign of respect in a way that they would see

like That's kind of to me described as a relationship

perfectly in the way they view her And I think

it's more than just ma 'am because there's more

of a it's a it's a sign of respect But also one

of admiration so I think that's why they go Okay,

so the pre -title sequence the title sequence

itself Was So strange the this by far Like I

thought up to this point the strangest title

sequence we've ever had was live and let die

This one takes the cake on strangest title sequences

It is so weird. I don't I thought it kind of

what I liked about it. It kind of it It tells

the story of the movie very without giving everything

away you have that awesome moment with how bond

like the theme that goes throughout with bond

like fighting himself and you have that moment

of How kind of like in die another day how you

he kind of goes from bond kind of getting tortured

to the title sequence you see how the title sequence

actually tells the story of the movie in a way.

I love how that's kind of repeated here where

you see Bond in the water and him getting picked

up and like how that plays into the movie along

with like all the other combining all the different

elements with like the dragon and the shadows

and everything. So I don't know, I personally,

it's one of my, of all the Craig era, I think

this is probably my favorite title sequence of

all his films. Honestly would have to say and

it wasn't something we talked about I would honestly

have to say my favorite out of the Craig era

for title sequences was casinos But what I don't

like about this one and I think they've I think

I think every Craig film except for casino I

think quantum and skyfall both show him In the

title the title sequence. It's okay if you show

the silhouette of bond or something, but you

should never show Bond himself, and I think that's

what really weirded me out was that it shows

it like It close -ups on his face and goes through

his eyes, and it was too weird Okay, I'm gonna

say this now as a as a disclaimer Before I ever

heard the theme song for Skyfall. I was never

an Adele fan Heard maybe two songs from her don't

care for at all. I don't mind if other people

cover her songs and sing them, because I think

that other people sing her songs better than

she does. So when I heard this, I was like, what

the hell is this whiny bitch doing? I just I

don't like I don't like this the Skyfall theme

at all. I think you're crazy. I don't I don't

I don't see how you see whiny from her voice.

It's it's not whiny at all i mean it's very uh

like i i love adelle i mean maybe that's why

i love the song but uh there's not many there's

not much pop music i love and i feel like her

her voice is timeless it goes i mean it sounds

in a way a lot like you can um goldfinger and

it's it to me it's a strong voice i don't find

whining there's a lot of emotion to it it's very

thick um right i i love the song i love how she

was given a script to the movie and she kind

of You know use the song to kind of tell a story

without giving everything away just like the

title sequence and I think they flow together

so perfectly and honestly, uh, just like this

song is she they just Like some people thought

she wanted to be eligible to win an Oscar because

it's so it's tied so closely to the original

theme But she was proven eligible. So this song

Probably definitely gonna win an Oscar and probably

be the first bond song to win one and I honestly

I don't know if it's the best bond song But it's

probably one of my favorites and I absolutely

love it. I Would rather listen to the end of

the day than listen to this again Like I said

if it was anyone else but her voice singing it

I could probably get into it. I just couldn't

get into this at all It's just I guess I've never

heard anyone say they don't like I mean she's

someone who's obviously Become famous not because

she's wearing sexy outfits or because she knows

someone she's one that had to become famous because

of her ability to write songs and her ability

to sing and I Mean, I guess not music, you know

music is very subjective So I understand that

but I guess I never heard anyone to call her

voice whiny I just find that surprising I I've

heard the opposite or people say it's too you

know too strong or it's not feminine enough but

again I never heard the opposite of that you

know you mentioned goldfinger well hang hang

on a second pause the right you know you mentioned

goldfinger and Did some research Shirley Bassey

is still alive. She's 75 years old, but she's

still alive She could I'm sure sing this song

a lot better than Adele could Already I don't

I don't think there's a need for response I mean

like even if I don't I don't know I don't understand

It's hard to say you should like her voice because

to me if you don't like her voice you don't like

I find I don't understand what about her voice

she don't like. I don't get the whininess at

all, honestly. I mean, I don't know. I just,

I find that crazy. And the thing about the Die

Another Day song, like comparing them is at least

to me, this song sounds like a Bond song. Like

nothing about that song is all reminiscent of

Bond films. Like even if you take - Right, but

what I'm saying is for me personally, the lesser

of two evils for me is Dying on the Day. Because

I just can't like okay And I know you've listened

to this song and maybe you're just not hearing

it the way I'm hearing it But she she she whines

skyfall Grumble it just it's I don't find that

whining at all. I don't understand. I maybe if

she's on it on the voice. It would be better.

I don't Know I don't I just to me I maybe if

someone else chose to sing it on the voice that

it could actually sing maybe yes like to me i

hate that's maybe that's why because i hate songs

that are so they're all about like just throwing

so many octaves into one song as possible and

becomes about the singer and not about the song

and this to me is is that it's about the song

it's about enhancing it and not becoming a star

of it like i don't know i guess there's i don't

know much more we have to say about the song

well let's uh let's get into some highlights

on on skyfall here um i love how bond throws

the gun away and then realizes hey there's a

construction vehicle i can use just the way that

he looks like like he throws the gun away on

on the train sequence then he just kind of like

like tilts his neck up like oh yeah what the

hell so apparently you do only live twice the

nice reference with bond being dead and of course

because you know Queen and well not necessarily

Queen but country is being you know country and

agency are being threatened of course he's gonna

come back I love the, again, I've always liked

the Bond and Em interactions with Craig and Dench.

I'll find a hotel where you're bloody well not

sleeping here. I love that. As we mentioned earlier,

I love the cue scene. I think it's so hilarious

that Bond has to essentially insult this kid

and the kid just throws it right back at him.

And apparently they don't do exploding pins anymore

damn it I thought the elevator scene was so cool.

I really liked that. I thought that was great

The fight scene in Shanghai kind of reminds me

a man with a golden gun as far as the backgrounds

Did you get that at all? No, I honestly did not

you mean the the silhouette sequence Yeah, the

silhouette sequence with the backgrounds of like

it look like at the very end There's like a starry

background and it kind of reminded me of scaramongers

layer. No, I didn't get that at all Oh, wow,

so it looks like a skinny uncle fester when he

takes his mouthpiece out That's an interesting

way to look at that Oh Em, no. But I do love

the transition back to a male Em, even though

Dench's Em had to die, which is kind of sad.

What are your highlights for Skyfall? I think

a lot of Bond films have great action, Bond films

have good acting. This is by far the best looking

Bond film. of all time. Nothing even comes close

to it. I think there's two reasons for that.

I talked last with Quantum. That suffered from

a poor director. With this, they got a great

director. I'm a huge fan of Sam Mendes. He's

worked with Craig before. with Rotor Prediction.

So seeing them come back together is great. And

I think what he often does is he gets great cinematographers,

and he did it again with Richard Deakins, who's

one of the best cinematographers of our time.

And he makes a movie that looks absolutely gorgeous.

And it's so unique. The action sequences in this,

it's not to me about the action, it's just about

admiring what I'm looking at. The silhouette

action sequence, the fight's fine, but what's

great about it, it's just how much... at the

lighting, seeing how the gun goes off and it

flashes and you see it lights up here and there.

It's fantastic. I love that moment, just the

way it looked. I love the look of the casino.

as he's like coming into the casino with the

dragons and everything that looked gorgeous.

The final sequence, the final fight with the

house that's blazing and it's just you see, all

you see is the house and all the characters are

basically in silhouette again and like those

different tones and those different like... Colors

and how it all ties together with what's going

on. I just loved it I think it's like Richard

Deakins is different one an Oscar and I'm hoping

the guy that he wins an Oscar for this because

he really deserves that he should have won it

won a bunch by now, but Oscar Oscars aren't everything

but there are certain people think that deserve

that recognition and he's one of them So that

was one of my biggest highlights We talked about

him already, but Harvey ever far down Perfect.

He's an awesome Bond villain. I love how he's

introduced. That moment went one long shot and

you hear the elevator coming down and he slowly

walks in. He's the king of making an entrance.

Everything he does, he pronounces it as much

as possible. Everything's big and I love Bardem.

Again, Judy Dench. Fantastic. She I think carries

a lot of this movie in that relationship Like

you mentioned with with Bond is perfect and how

it all kind of culminates into this final moment

It's touching. It's actually a Bond film that's

touching at times which is on unlike this franchise

and I think mendys has even admitted to it to

this uh as a director But he's learned a lot

from the known franchise and you can see a lot

of the of dark knight in this movie It's almost

like i've heard someone else say this but it's

almost like the dark knight trilogy in one movie

as craig kind of you know becomes We see him

kind of began we see him get broken and then

come back and there's a lot of similarities I

mean just like Bardem and like you can see like

what how they treat him and how Joker is treated

there's a lot there's a lot of things in between

there you have that moment where Dan just talking

to him and he's in he's he's in prison and it's

similar to that of Joker and but yeah, there's

a lot of No, it's a it's a direct copy of Joker

because Bond even says He wanted to be here.

He wanted us to capture him. It's a direct plot

copy. I mean, I'm not saying that they stole...

People have probably used this type of thing

before in films, but I'm saying because here

in 2012, Dark Knight was only four years ago,

but Dark Knight left such an impression on those

of us who have seen it. Who in the world has

not seen dark night by now? I mean come on But

I mean that it's a direct copy and paste line

Yeah, and and you also have that moment with

Judy dentures in court and she all you hear all

you hear is her kind of Her narrating or giving

that poem and all this chaos is happening It's

kind of we've seen you see something like that

and dark night rises and dark night and I I don't

have an issue with that personally I think it's

fine to kind of It's what Bond has always done.

It's taken what's popular at the time and put

it into its franchise We've said that time and

time again, and if you're gonna copy from anyone

I think Nolan is the person to do it from and

I think I Think having a director that can also

add something to it And I think it takes what

but Nolan has done and I don't think he does

it better But he does it differently and he he

gets about it in a different way. So I So that's

what I appreciate it. I think all the technical

aspects of this movie are perfect and Beyond

just the great action. It's it's really in in

a way It's almost like a heart art house film

and just it's art direction. It's cinematography

the score. I think it's really great even if

you don't like the The song yeah, but the the

the Thomas Newton score is great and we finally

have the Bond theme back. Yes. And I love the

moment when they use it, when it really kicks

in the high gear. It's pretty awesome when they

kind of like bring out the Aston Martin. I'm

like that. That's pretty awesome because there

is all these little great callbacks and a great

combination of taking old Bond and new Bond and

throw it in the one movie. And I thought it was

great. It was, like you mentioned, it is very

different from the other two Bond films. I'm

sorry, the other two Craig films. And it does.

It feels like almost a completely different movie,

but still it still works for me. Yeah. I love

how. Where we've seen in the past where. Bond

usually gets his his his vehicle from Q branch

Which would essentially mean that the Q branch

cars are company cars, which means trackers We

saw well, we didn't really see that in in world

is not enough but because that was heat signature

tracking but You know, and I like how in this

where where where bond does say Company cars

have trackers. So this this Aston Martin is his

personal vehicle. I Just love that whole storyline

twist on it. I thought that was absolutely amazing.

Yeah Are you gonna complain the whole way or

do I need to oh, I don't care just eject me already

I love I love how like so many like Bonnie gets

the last word on everyone but the only person

that can tear him down is Judy Dench Yeah, so

or am I guess I should say yeah am and you know

the It's it's just so refreshing to actually

see a Bond film about Bond I know that the majority

of this has to do with Silva and his history

with him and I know this is essentially an M

centric film but It's just, it was so refreshing

to finally get, okay sure, we know the character

of James Bond is supposed to be this average,

not necessarily average, but that's the best

way I can put it, average MI6 -00 who's an assassin

who gets close to no one, who loves no one, who

you know, who's this cold -hearted bastard, and

we finally see history from his life and what

it's such such great writing in this movie it's

just it's so so awesome and I don't think maybe

in 2006 this film could have been made maybe

not obviously in 2008 it couldn't have been made

because of the writer's strike and people wouldn't

have treated it as well Um, so I think having

it here in 2012 is, is good. And as I said, and

as you said, this is almost, this is almost a

soft reboot within the Craig's, within Craig's

own era. I mean, cause what happens at the end

of the film, um, with Mallory being the new M

and him asking Bond, you know, so are you ready

to get back to work? So. That ending really left

me like, Oh, what's 24 going to be like? Yeah,

it's like this. I guess you could call it almost

like a trilogy in a way. The casino quantum in

this. It does kind of like it's its own story.

I mean, I think the other two films aren't nearly

as connected, but you can see kind of how this

world becomes one. And you see like we know,

we know who Bond is. And this kind of shows us

why Bond is the way he is, why he doesn't get

in relationships. Well, because when he did,

he, he now has the person he loves kind of both

betrayed him and kind of was killed in the process.

But what did you think of the reveal of what

Skyfall actually means? I thought it was lame,

actually. OK. OK. The. The fact that that's his

his boyhood home. I like the fact that that's

that that's getting into his past, but that teaser

trailer. The original teaser trailer for skyfall

when there's you know when they show him asking

the questions I Thought it was some sort of mission

I didn't think it was supposed to be skyfall

manner his boyhood home And I was kind of let

down at it on it at first it's not something

now That I've watched the film three different

times. It's not something now that I really You

know dislike about it, but at first I was like

wait That's what that means. What the hell when

I when I saw the trailer, I just assumed Skyfall

was the name of the drive that they lost. I just

saw it. I guess I didn't even think about it.

I just assumed that's what it was called. You

know what I mean? And then the reveal that it's

actually his home. I mean, I get it because there's

the one thing that's going to bother Bond is

his parents, like because it's the one moment

I think that's made him who he is in a way. But

yeah, I don't know. Like, I don't know if that's

part of the books. I never read the books, but

it does. I think the reason why it wrote me the

wrong way was because in that original Skyfall

teaser trailer, they're doing the word association

game and the therapist asks, Skyfall. There's

a pause. Skyfall. And Bond's response is done.

Same thing in the film. Bond's response is done.

It makes no damn sense. Think it make it's just

that he Scott because Scott that's where his

parents were killed. What was that ranch because

they were So I think he immediately Associates

skyfall with the death of his parents. I think

it's something he's never really gotten over

So I think that's why like he he's not a person.

He's never talks about his past ever. So I think

that's why He was done. It's like I don't you

know, he's always about moving forward So I think

that's kind of the reason behind him not wanting

to get into that discussion or he kind of felt

like That person did not have the right to address

him that way Like he doesn't know this person

and he's going to talk about his past like if

it was m I could see him going Having that discussion

because he respects him. There's very few people

he respects with this other guy that he has no

allegiance towards He doesn't know who he is.

I think he dismisses him as you know, you have

no right to bring this to me. I think that's

why Yeah, it's done Okay, I can see that but

just the way that it was and I and I know it's

the way trailer companies cut trailers and I

know it has nothing to do with the producers

and directors of the films and And film studios

themselves, but just the way that it was I also

thought it was a name of the mission Yeah, I

do think it I don't know it I think in a way

maybe would have been better if we didn't know

what it was I think kind of naming it like making

it the name of his house I just in like the you

know the little pan over and you see that's called

skyfall. I don't know I get to me it felt on

a way unnecessary because Even if you remove

that, I think what it was trying to go for, it

already did that. So I just felt like they needed

to make, they had this title, they liked it.

They're like, okay, what can we do with it? And

then that's what they ended up doing with it.

So yeah. I don't, you know, and the other thing

is how would that person or how would British

intelligence, the supervisors even know? About

that. Okay, cuz em even says orphans are the

best agents etc. Etc. Etc. She even asked him

was this where They you know, they died or you

know, whatever else she asks him about this stuff.

So it seemed to me that Secret service didn't

even know really about his past unless unless

I'm miss Reading into that. It just it just seemed

like so weird that the guy with the therapist

would know That term I would assume they would

because I mean they Notified what's his name

that bond was presumed dead. So they knew that

place where it was located I think maybe a few

people dead But it is weird that if all the people

that didn't know about it Judy Tant was one I

think you're endless one You would think she

would be the the one person that would so yeah,

that is kind of odd Getting into some lowlights.

I don't know much I kind of already mentioned

two of them the yes, ma 'am. Yes mom thing make

up your bloody mind bond And the the whole Adele

and song thing we talked about that The one reference

I did not care for They could have made any other

reference. I Don't know why they did this one.

They did a scorpion die another day reference

really seriously Don't know that meant to be

reference. I never took it as a reference to

die another day Yeah, it was a day another day

reference because the school it was the the torture

sequence reference Because the scorpion stung

Brosnan Then they wrote and then they gave him

the serum and in the scene where he or bond is

drinking He's got a scorpion crawling up his

his arm as he's drinking. I just took that as

I never I don't know if that was meant to be

You know much honestly, I might have been on

it I never picked it up on it, but I just I just

assumed it was this drinking game. They played

that crazy poor While I do really enjoy the fact

of how we got around to getting another male

M, bring Samantha Bond back. Ugh. I'm sorry,

the whole reveal of Eve Moneypenny, really? Ugh,

God. I didn't care for that. And the other reason

why I don't like her that much is because of

what Naomi Harris said in an interview with Nerdist

News. She said that she doesn't like the term

bond girl because she feels it means that bond

girls are teenagers. That's not what it fucking

means, damn it. I don't think she thinks the

term bond girl means teenagers. I think she says

she feels the word. Girl is associated with teenagers

and I don't think she necessarily was dismissing

the term in that interview I think my issue with

that term is like she talks about because she

feels like her character is on the same par with

bond and My issue more so was like I don't feel

the character is on the same level with bod I

feel she I talked like to me. She is an antony

character that They needed a bond girl. She was

there. She came in certain sequences here and

there but you can completely remove her after

the first sequence and Not much in the movie

has changed. So I don't have I mean if she's

against that term, whatever I could care less

but I just and First of all in in 50 years money

penny has never Been the quote -unquote bond

girl of any of the films. There's always been

Zenya on a top and Natalia Waylin and you know

Paris, you know, there's always been one or two

other women Moneypenny has always been someone

who was On the inside of MI6. She was never meant

to she's not meant to be a bond girl. Yes. There

is meant to be that Not necessarily forbidden

attraction, but there's always you know It's

a giant tease between her and bond and I did

not like how they did it in this in this film

at all Well, I guess the way they're just trying

to show you is because don't forget like This

is the first time we're seeing it all come together

like that. We're supposed to the first time I

think it's trying to show you how all these pieces

fell into place and I think it's showing us like

why these two have that relationship and why

they still respect each other and yet like bond

well, like he's the The one person that he won't,

you know, go after, like, yes, they have flirtation,

but he doesn't actually have to sleep with her.

Now, do they accomplish that? I don't necessarily

think they accomplished that, but I don't think

necessarily, like, they, I think, I don't know,

like, how, it is, it did feel weird that, that

like, In a way they kind of she ends up being

really horrible at her job. So she gets and she

ends up becoming a secretary Like it does seem

kind of I don't know it feels something from

the 1950s not from 2012 so that does show kind

of strange like I do I do think like that felt

forced it kind of reminded me again of The Dark

Knight Rises when they talk about I guess it's

what when there's a certain name reveal in that

and that feels kind of Odd it was the same thing

too because it's like oh, my name is Eve money

penny. It's like really I think if they got rid

of it, whatever. I mean I Just I don't know it

was such a small part of the movie But I think

it was I mean if it's one low light It definitely

is because I think it was really mishandled compared

to everything else in the movie Yeah, it was

it was very mishandled. I thought the other thing

I didn't like and this is kind of going back

to more so almost not necessarily the beginning

of the film, but when when bond is at silver's

now I have gay friends I have nothing wrong with

I have nothing against people who decide to be

you know not okay don't decide that digging myself

in all here people who are gay or have that you

know sexual choice damn it you don't have a you

don't care about people's sexual orientation

Right, I don't I don't care about people's sexual

orientation if that's the way that they are that's

fine with me however the scene where Silva is

pretty much torturing bond a little bit I That

just creeped me out all the hell and what creeped

me out even more was when bond was like well

What makes you think this is my first time almost

implying that James Bond is? bisexual that I

think to me, what I think Bon was doing there

is Bon was, I think he's implying that, but I

think the purpose behind what Bon said was just

like, he's trying to, he realizes the type of

person Silva is and he is trying to basically

surprise him or get the best of Silva. And I

think the best way to get at him i think he realized

well there's a few ways i can go at this and

the best way is to say what i did i don't think

i don't think you're supposed to think oh wow

bond is by curious in any any form i saw more

as him trying to basically not be affected by

by silver him saying hey i see what you're doing

and guess what i can play your game better than

you can that's what i saw that as because that's

what bond is best at is taking someone else's

Strength and doing it even better than that person.

So that's what I saw that that moment as yeah

It's uncomfortable, but it's a good kind of uncomfortable.

Like, you know, like, uh, I don't know it's awkward,

but I loved it. I just it's very awkward. Yeah

Very, very awkward. All right, did you have any

other lowlights on Skyfall? I mean, overall,

the film is great, but anything else you didn't

like about it? I guess the gifts kind of nipicky

to the Komodo dragons. That sequence, again,

it felt old school bondish, you know, having...

crazy character or crazy animals or something

like that. Also just thought they didn't look

really good. Their overall rendering felt very

CGI. I don't know. I think it could have been

completely out of the movie. I think it would

have been better. I love the third act of the

movie. I felt like it was going for something

bigger and something... Like I don't know. It

just became a giant action set piece, which is

fine I just thought it was gonna go for something

a little bit different compared to everything

else that came before And overall like the death

of Silva. I was kind of like that kind of disappointed

me Just kind of getting a knife in the back.

Just I don't know I Felt like a letdown this

character and like I really wanted to see him

face off against bond and we never really get

to see that because he kind of just ends up you

know freaking like that moment with him and an

M that is That is odd. I mean, that is that's

creepy. So that's creepy. That's not that's not

awkward or uncomfortable. That's just creepy.

Yeah. I mean, Bardem sells it completely. And

I was hoping to get that moment with him and

Bond, but ends up just getting a knife in the

back, which is a little disappointing. But, you

know, what are you going to do? But besides that

overall, it's great, great entry into the Bond

franchise. Yes, yes it is and we're gonna take

a short break Here's some ads and some other

stuff and we'll come back to close the show after

this Trouble with company cars they have trackers

And I suppose that's completely inconspicuous

Get in. It's not very comfortable, is it? Are

you going to complain the whole way? Oh, go on

then. It's yet to be made. See if I care. You

high expectations for this film even after quantum

considering everything looking at the trailer

i was hoping for the best and i got that i i

still have a soft spot for casino royale but

i can't deny that considering everything that

this is so far craig's best outing i i think

it's gonna be hard to top i don't know where

else i can go for it because it almost feels

like you mentioned this could be his his first

Entry in the bond and the way it almost just

could be his last entry because you could also

see him as That bond character that resets everything

and it goes a different direction. So I'm curious

where it's gonna go a Little bit worried because

I don't know where they can take it, but it's

bonds They always find a way but uh, it's kind

of crazy that this journey has come to an end

Of course for now as we know there will be more

pun films in the future. Yeah, I Could have sworn

I read somewhere and I've heard on other podcasts

that Craig has signed up for 24 and 25 at least

for two more films. Yeah. So I honestly, you

know, and as you've said in the last three episodes,

this episode, the boredom episode and the casino

episode, you know, The the franchise continues

to reinvent itself even within its own, you know

within one care one actor's own era of the film

and You also said that it takes the bond franchise

takes from real life. So You know Heaven forbid

anything horrible happened between now and bond

24, but you know depending on what happens in

politics depending on what happens in Oh, God.

Horrible presidential recall for a bond plot.

Nice. That would be interesting. Recount, recount!

But, you know, the bond producers, the Eon people,

all that stuff, they always do take from what's

going on in current day. And who knows who knows

what's gonna happen in Bond 24 for me? Skyfall

is Skyfall is the movie that made me believe

in Daniel Craig is bond Casino I kind of did

but again as I said in the casino royale episode

I was still I Still wanted Brosnan even though

I knew I knew I knew he was done You know, so

for me skyfall is is is the one Craig film that

I really really enjoyed Yeah, and I guess like

looking at now that we're finally finished this

overall franchise just considering it as a whole

I mean just going back and kind of getting so

engulfed in bond this past really this past year

I I don't honestly if I look at it all I mean

going in I wasn't I'm not I didn't love Bond

all my life, but I've kind of come late to the

party. But overall, I think just considering

its longevity, everything it's done, its ability

to reinvent itself, I think for none you have

to say, for me anyway, is that if I'm going to

name the best movie franchise, that this has

to take the cake. And looking at all these movies

that we did, honestly, to me, yes, there's bad

films. But overall, I think the good all completely

outweighs the bad. Oh, yeah. Yeah I know we only

covered 18 out of the 23 but as we said when

we started this thing that's a That's a lot of

movies to watch in a month and a half two months

time plus all the podcast recording and and all

that but You know we we made it through it I

know I know Dan's gonna do his his ranking of

the films. I'm gonna do my own Probably it's

gonna right now. It's listed as a top 20, but

it's probably gonna be cut down to a top to my

top 10 favorite Bond movies Because I honestly

don't think I have 20 favorites But it's been

a fun fun ride covering bond in the shaken on

stirred series here on my and You know, we'll

have to see what the future holds for it. So

we hope you enjoyed MWire's Shaken Not Stirred

series. We will return with Bond 24, whenever

that comes out. For now, I am TF2 on Mike with

- Move your volt in. Make sure you have some

shaken not stirred. Vodka martinis and we will

catch you next time coming in January on NY we

head back to the 90s with 10 90s films He'll

see you now. How's the arm, sir? What? Oh, it's

fine. It'll get better. All pretty shocking for

someone unused to field work. So 007. Lots to

be done. Are you ready to get back to work? With
