Solo and I'd like to say hello and welcome to

the 21st episode of the telecast brought to you

by the Geekcast Radio Network and today we're

starting a brand new block of shows and I gotta

tell you I've been waiting for this block probably

more than any other block in our season one schedule

and the guy that will be with me for a majority

of this block is the freaking goofy one how are

you Uh, I'm okay. Anyway, today the two of us

will be talking about... Standing on the edge

there's a way of knowing What lies ahead or where

the road is going So far we're talking about

Good Morning, Miss Bliss. And before we get too

far into our discussion, here is a little background

information on the show. It debuted in 1988,

ran till 1989 on the Disney Channel. It was a

30 -minute show lasting for one season, which

included 13 episodes, plus a very weird pilot,

which we'll get to later. For those of you that

don't know, Good Morning, Miss Bliss is basically

Saved by the Bell of the Junior High Years. And

if you don't know what Saved by the Bell is,

please stop the stream. recording and run straight

into oncoming traffic because you do not deserve

to be alive. Is that too harsh? Yeah, that's

a little harsh. I don't ever remember, before

you continue, I don't ever remember a Disney

Channel back in the 80s. I don't remember Disney

Channel being around then. Maybe this was on

ABC or something like that. No, it was on Disney.

It was pitched to NBC and they just shot it down

and so it aired on Disney for the first year

and then NBC picked it up and like reruns after

that So it was on Disney Disney was around in

the late 80s But did you ever watch this show?

Nope, so you don't remember anything about it,

obviously I Going back. I remember bits and pieces.

I remember like a few years ago. I saw like a

V8 not VH1 each your Hollywood story type thing

about it you know, something similar to that.

Actually, it was each of Hollywood's stories

Saved by the Bell, and they spent like the first

five minutes of the program talking about this

show, and this show eventually becoming what

Saved by the Bell is. And it's funny how many

people that know and love or at least grew up

with Saved by the Bell do not even know that

this existed. I did not know this existed until

after I had seen... the classic Save by the Bell.

And then at some point I saw it in reruns one

summer or one year. They started showing it in

reruns and I was so confused as to what was going

on. But then I ended up watching I think probably

all 13 episodes, you know, that summer or that

year, whenever it was. So I kind of caught up

on it. But I just remember being at first being

like, what the heck is going on here? And so

many things do not make sense, which is obviously

because it's not in the exact same continuity.

But we'll get more into that. a little bit later.

So you didn't watch this basically at all except

for maybe a little bit, some pieces, more recent

years? Yeah, more recently I've caught up with

it. But back then, never even knew about it.

Well, obviously you've watched a few episodes

in preparation for this show and obviously we

have our standards as far as who's who's go and

we're not going to talk about them a lot because

we'll talk about them in next episode and the

one after that and for one guy the one after

that. You have Zach Morris, you have Screech

Powers, you have Lisa Turtle. We don't need to

talk about them too much and you have Mr. Belding.

So those are the four. I do think we need to

talk about Mr. Belding. Well, no, we'll talk

about that in the future section. But you have

Mr. Belding, Zach, Screech, and Lisa. So those

are your main four. Everybody knows who those

people are. The difference in this one is obviously

the students that don't make the journey into

Save by the Bell Classic, and that is Mikey Gonzalez,

Nicky Coleman, and then of course the teacher,

Ms. Bliss. Ms. Bliss made it into Save. Not really.

She did? Briefly. She was in there. But not very

much. And then you had... She was still a cast

member. I know, but she wasn't a freaking main

cast member, moron. Yes, she was, moron. You

are completely oblivious to Saved by the Bell,

then. And then you have Milo as well, and Milo

is the Janitor Hall Monitor type character. But

what were your opinions on the two students that

were just in Miss Blissier's, Mikey and Nikki?

Only the out of the episodes that I did see besides

the pilot. Mm -hmm. I've only seen the ones with

Zack Like Mikey was there like a long like like

instead of like when you have when we get to

classic We'll have Zack Slater and screech well

in this you have Zack screech and Mikey and I

always saw Zack as as the front -runner I never

saw Mikey as a as a as a front -runner of the

show at all Mikey and this one I mean, obviously

he is the Slater type character, but obviously

you don't have big muscular jocks in junior high

as much. I mean, you do, but those are more freaks

of nature anyway. But Mikey was kind of that

person, but he was more like Zack than Slater

was like Zack. Like Slater and Zack were, obviously

they were both like the guys the girls went after,

but they were completely opposites as far as

a lot of things. Whereas Zack and Mikey had a

lot more in common, and they were a lot more...

Don't know there's just a different dynamic,

but it was basically the Slater character But

a different dynamic between the two I liked Mikey

a lot actually I like the actor that plays them

Nikki on the other hand I could not stand Yes,

she was She was like the rude version of Kelly

it was it was basically like you had Lisa And

then you take this other character, and it's

like you cross Kelly and Jesse together Yeah,

and that's not a good combination Oh, and then

you get this Nikki, which is I guess somewhat

of a tomboy But she's I guess supposed to be

the the good -looking girl No, she was I know

but I guess she's supposed to sort of be that

so because that's at all That's who I don't know.

It's just I could not stand Nikki. I couldn't

stand the actress. I couldn't stand the personality

I couldn't stand anything about Nikki on the

other hand. I really like Milo Part of it is

because I like TK Carter But I just liked the

idea of having a hall monitor type character

that kind of, you know, it's like the janitor

in the breakfast club. It's like the person that

hears all and sees all. And I just kind of liked

what he added to the show. He made fun of Belding

a lot. And I don't know, if there was one character

that I wish would have made the cross, it would

have been Milo over Mikey or Nikki. Did you remember

Milo in any of the episodes you saw? No. You

did not watch enough episodes, because those

people are in almost every freaking episode.

Anyway, how about your opinions on Miss Bliss?

Yeah, she's the teacher I wanted. No, seriously.

In all honesty, you want a teacher that is going

to be strict, but is also going to listen to

you. In that sense, besides the fact that back

then she was super hot, but that's beside the

point. That is, the inappropriateness aside,

just the actual education of it, I would want

Miss Bliss as a teacher, because she always looked

at, like, the episode with, what's his name,

Bastion from Neverending Story 2, Jonathan Brandis.

He was one of the lead, not lead characters,

he was one of the characters. You're jumping

way ahead. Shut up. He's one of the characters

that came in, and Miss Bliss, one of the reasons

why I think she would be a really, really great

teacher for anybody is because she went above

and beyond to try to find out what was wrong

with that character. You know what I mean? She

cares about the students. It's not just, you

know... It's not just a job. Yeah. And obviously

she's played by Hayley Mills, and I always have

loved Hayley Mills from when she was in the parent

trap in Pollyanna as a kid. I loved her voice.

You know, I love her as an actress. And I like

the character Miss Bliss. I don't know. I have

some problems with Miss Bliss though, and we'll

get into that a little bit later. But I don't

know. It's an interesting mix. You have the teacher

in this one. You have the hall monitor. And then

you have a couple different students. Screech,

Zack, and Lisa are basically their same characters,

just younger versions. There is not much different

in how they portray these characters in this

show compared to how these three characters are

portrayed in the later show. Yeah, not at all.

They're pretty much the exact same. So I think

that does it for the main cast We're not going

to get into any of the guest characters or stuff

like that because no one really has too much

of a recurring role besides like one other teacher

and she annoys me so we're not going to talk

about her So I guess it is time for That's right,

it's time for the good, the bad, and the ugly

of Good Morning Miss Bliss. And we always seem

to start with the theme song. So what's your

opinion on the theme song for this one or the

intro? It's too weird. I kind of like it, but

it's not one of those that stuck with me at all.

Obviously, you never saw the show, so it didn't

stick with you. But it's just not one of those

that's like catchy that's going to be in your

head over and over again. It's not annoying.

It's not as bad as some. But it's just not. Yeah,

I found it annoying. To me, it's not annoying,

but it's not memorable. I found it annoying.

Because the whole point of the theme song is

they're showing all the different characters,

but they're mainly showing Hayley Mills as Miss

Bliss in different forms. Like I saw a picture,

like a drawing of her. If they had found something

actually slightly better, slightly, I hate to

sound sexist here, but slightly less girly and

less operatic, maybe something not... I mean,

I know that, you know, this came before Saved,

but not something like the Saved by the Bell

theme, but something a little bit more that would

fit Miss Bliss' character instead of this...

music. Oh my God. I do like, though, the Saved

by the Bell instrumental stuff that happens throughout

the episodes. There is stuff like bumper type

stuff and stuff in between scenes that is exactly

like it will sound later in Saved by the Bell.

Yeah. And that part's cool because it makes it

feel like it's the same show where... We'll talk

about something that doesn't make it feel like

the same show a little bit later. But the setting

always got me because Good Morning Miss Bliss

is in Indiana and Saved by the Bell is in California.

So I find it very weird that these three students

all made the trek from Indiana to California

to go to high school. You never know. I mean

obviously these shows are not meant to be completely

in the same continuity but You can't get any

more different than Indiana and California. Yeah,

exactly. I mean, you probably could, but it's

pretty different. Other than that, the school

buildings themselves don't seem that different

as far as the classrooms. Obviously, they spend

a lot of time in the cafeteria. You don't have

places like the Max. You don't really have any

other settings. It's basically either at the

school or at Miss Bliss's house. Which was weird

in itself, which is weird because on multiple

occasions we have students showing up at her

house Which you you were always taught never

to do that I know I saw Zach show up at the house

in the pilot I show soft people show up in the

house and we'll get more into the pilot in a

minute But I just want to say not only do they

students show up at her house in the pilot She

stayed up with him until he fell asleep, and

then he spent the night at her house Yeah, there's

something wrong with that but You know, I think

the only time the only teacher the only time

I ever went to a teacher's house Second grade

mrs. Carvalho I you know, I grew up with her

son You know and I know this and all that the

only time I ever went to their house Was like

Halloween that was it? I mean, you know, you

just don't, you know. You have your home life.

If something is wrong in your life, something's

going on in your home life that you can't talk

to anybody about, that's why you go to fucking

school. Yeah, most students don't even realize

that teachers exist outside of school. Like most

students are like shocked if they ever see a

teacher outside of school. Right, exactly. But

that's the thing, that's what's so off -putting

about the kids in this series going to her house

because... That's not normal. A teacher like

Miss Bliss today would be in jail. Be like, what,

you let him sleep the night at your house? Come

with us. But the other thing about Miss Bliss,

and I know you're going to disagree with me,

but I will never understand why people think

she's hot. I get the fact that she's an attractive

woman for her age, but by the time Good Morning

Bliss airs, she's older. And I don't understand

why 10, 11, and 12 -year -olds would think she's

hot. I think like in the early, well, in the

early episodes of Miss Bliss before Zack came

along, which that's something I'll bring up in

a moment from an episode I did watch. Oh, God.

Like I said before, the, oh, what's his name?

Giorgio, whatever the hell, the little kid that

had a crush on her, whatever. You know there

was multiple, but I know which one you're talking

about right the one that said the one that was

in the pilot Oh, hey great legs You know that

kid that kid honestly to me was supposed to be

What Zack Morris would eventually be yeah? I

know they are two very different characters,

but they have very similar character traits It's

just weird to me that they think a teacher that

is way older than - I could see if she was like

a teacher just out of college and she was younger

or whatnot, but she's like older and I just don't

get it. She's an attractive woman for her age,

but I would never have thought she was hot if

she was my teacher. As far as like her and Zach's

relationship, she goes - I don't know if you

watch this episode, you should because it's hilariously

just - it's so hilariously dumb. parent teacher

nighter parent conference or whatever it's it's

on you too uh... she goes off to this slates

retreat this camping retreat thing this anonymous

can't lead calling speedy was being in nineteen

eighty eight consists of going to a camping trip

only giving your first name and at the end of

the thing if things go well exchanging phone

numbers right i'm highly friggin weird uh...

turns out This guy that she met Peter doesn't

know who he is doesn't know what he does all

of a sudden He's in her classroom And he's like,

oh by the way, my name is Peter Morris. I'm Zach's

dad. Oh Like seriously, all right, really There

was another scene. I saw her another episode

where I saw where they were like together Miss

Bliss and Zach and I don't remember if there

was that in this bliss's house or where it was

but like There's a scene that ends and they're

so close to each other that you almost expected

them to kiss each other. It's so bad. I don't

know, there's just a lot of inappropriateness

with how they... I know this show is more based

on, and we can get into this I guess right now,

but the difference between this one and Save

by the Bell mainwise from plot is that this one

focuses more on Miss Bliss and the teacher's

relationship and how she's getting along with

Mr. Belden and other teachers and how she's interacting

with the kids, whereas Save by the Bell, the

teachers are more just kind of like side characters

and it's all about the students. But you know,

and the... Go ahead. Before you move on, the

only reason why, and we got into arguing about

this on Skype through chat earlier, the only

reason why I say that I never really saw a difference

is because every time, like, TBS runs Saved,

runs College Years, I don't know if they run

New Class, but they run Miss Bliss, Saved, and

College Years. In like early like, you know 7

8 a .m. Hour of the morning Eastern time And

every time I would catch an episode of of Miss

Bliss on TBS It would always be the classroom

stuff and it was it was always it would always

be Zack Lisa and screech. That's why off air

when I said to you that They kind of are the

same show a little bit was because those were

the only scenes before I started watching episodes

on YouTube that I had actually seen of the damn

show. I never saw, you know, the setting of her

house or her out of the school type thing. So,

but yeah, this is very different. It just seems

weird though to me that they would make a kids

show and I know they were trying to make a kids

show and try to get the kids maybe to relate

to the teachers, but like what... What kids are

gonna watch a show if it's based more on the

teacher than it is the kids like to me I love

Hayley Mills and I love I actually like the character

of Miss Bliss because she is a role model type

teacher but to me You know they had if this would

have been the formula for saved by the bell It

would have never worked. No, you cannot focus

a show on the teacher and then sell it to kids

No, you can like they have to be able to relate

and nobody cares what's going on in the teachers

life Yeah, I don't want to know about her dates

I don't want to know about, you know, her house

and stuff like that. You know, show us more about

the kids. And that's why, you know, as good as

she was and as much as I liked Haley Mills, she

was someone that needed to get cut out of this

show. Like, the only adult that could survive

in this show was the one that did, which is Mr.

Belding. Because you have to have a principal

because you get Zach sent to the principal all

the time. I mean, the other teachers, I like

what they did with Save by the Bell much better,

where it's just little comedic relief or just

side characters. And I hate saying that about

Haley Mills, but she had to go. I don't know.

I kind of disagree with you. I mean, she could

have been a side character, but I mean, she could

not be the main focus. Well, no, I agree with

you there, but... We don't need storylines revolving

around her. We need her doing stuff in the classroom

from time to time. That's fine. Right. And we

need her... One of the things that I remember

most about Saved, outside of all the schemes

and crap Zach tried to pull, was... Like, and

I'll say this again when we talk about Save,

but I have to say it here because I'm thinking

about it. Saved by the Bell, basically the classroom

with Ms. Bliss is the setting for the rest. Like,

say an episode starts and it's, you know, the

class is getting ready to dismiss, okay? And

then they're gonna go to the max or they're gonna

go to the beach or wherever. You know, that was

the setting for it and I liked how throughout

Saved, Miss Bliss went along with them here and

there in the background and she followed them

through their lives, you know, for the most part.

So even though she wasn't predominantly featured

in Saved like she was in this, she still followed

them around as far as, you know, being in their

lives. See, I only thought she was in one episode

of Saved by the Bell. I only remember seeing

her one time. I remember her more. I'm going

to have to go back and watch it, obviously, to

make sure that I'm right and you're wrong. Which

we know that never happens. So that happens a

lot. So stay tuned for episode 22 when Mike admits

that he's wrong about this. No. Never. One more

thing about this, besides the fact that I'm glad

that they shifted away from the teacher -centered

episodes, obviously, and saved by the bell. What

about the episode of Miss Bliss where they use

the save by the bell opening where Zack is introducing

the show, they kind of call it a cold open, where

he basically explains that, hey, these are some

stories from an earlier time. You know, when

we're in junior high and then they go into an

episode of Miss Bliss, even though they're completely

different continuities and nothing goes together.

I never saw those. OK, I remember distinctly

seeing those because I think that's the first

time I ever saw a Good Morning Miss Bliss was

when Zack introduced it. And I was like, Okay,

are they doing like a I thought they were just

like going back in time for an episode Yeah,

you know how shows do that and I'm like, oh they're

going back in time and showing them as a I didn't

realize it was a whole series but then I'm like,

wait a second, that's why it was confusing to

me because he's in California High School and

he's introducing a junior high in Indiana with

three of the same people and I was just so confused

Yeah, and I know they were doing it to try to

connect the two But they're not the same continuity.

I know Never saw the cold openings the only opening

I had seen like I actually like I Prefer her

monologuing or her narrating. Yeah. I feel like

there's a great voice. Yeah, I like the narration

because You know sometimes, you know, especially

now what we've both been out of school for a

number of years now for the most part Because

I'm not counting college here like are you know

k through twelve years we've broken at school

for a number of years now i don't mind going

back and watching a show like this where you

have the forefront being the teacher and getting

into their brains because her narration was pretty

much you know her setting the stage but it's

also what's going on in her life and i don't

know i i just i kind of like that just a little

bit i can see why it more now than i did when

i was uh... right but i don't know like To me

I think it was because that was the first time

the first method of how I saw good morning Miss

Bliss was with Zach Introducing it and then I

could see like so many things not connecting

that I think that's why I was so confused at

first I don't know if anybody can find a video

of that cold open You'll have to let us know

I haven't been able to find one on YouTube at

all But if anyone has a video or can find one

on the internet You know send us a link so we

can post it somewhere because I think it would

be interesting for people to see how Zach Introduces

and tries to make it seem like it's the same

continuity, even though it's not. But obviously,

it was a network attempt. We can't blame them,

I guess, too much. So I think, anything else

you want to talk about the actual show before

we move on? Anything as far as any of the episodes

you watched besides the pilot? Not really. I

mean, I kind of already mentioned the weird stuff

with the parent -teacher thing. I didn't actually

end up watching. i watched all their fairly all

the way through that episode but like once the

whole misplaced zacks and then kind of like all

god they can't do this so i think i skipped a

whole section there were screech was just freaking

out and i never feel like he was freaking out

uh... i i think it was probably because he didn't

want to tell his parents about parent -teacher

night which you know most of us as kids uh...

yeah i i i'm so glad that that they did keep

zack lisa and screech and obviously they added

albert whatever his name is and uh... albert

cliford yeah here you go just in color i i i

am glad i could have seen mikey being around

for it but i like later better and i'm so glad

that nicky did not make the cut it would have

been it would i would have been okay now again

i haven't watched like the pilot episode of saving

a long time but I think it would have been okay

if you brought Mikey out there or something or

brought him over for like the pilot for Save

and kind of like eased him out after like found

a way like oh you have to go back to Indiana

because unfortunately your grandmother's in the

hospital or you know something that would have

to take him out of the show that would be fluid

with the show and with AC coming in. I wouldn't

have minded that but again, I don't know. Did

they just not carry him over? Did they just?

Yeah, they just don't mention him at all. They

don't mention him or Nicky at all. Okay, I was

gonna say because... We'll get more into that

next week if we can dig some stuff on about it,

but I think that does it as far as the good,

the bad, and the ugly of Good Morning Miss Bliss.

So now it's time for... That's right, it's time

for some of the things you might not know about

Good Morning Miss Bliss. First thing as always

is you might not know that it got nominated for

some awards. Some Young Artist Awards for Best

Cable Family Comedy, Drama Series or Special,

Best Young Actress for Mark Paul and Lark. I

do want to bring up though that they seemed very

smooth in their roles. even more so than Screech

at first. Like in the episodes I saw of Good

Morning Miss Bliss, even the very first one that

Zach's in, it just seems like he's comfortable.

Like he was born to play that part. Which I think

he was. But him and Lisa just smooth, like they

just feel like they fit. Screech eventually gets

there, but they feel even more smooth I think

than Mikey and Nikki, which is probably why those

two didn't get carried on. And I'll bring that

up again here in a second. But the second thing

you might not know about the show is that Miss

Bliss was actually the name of NBC president

Brandon Tartakov's eighth grade history teacher.

And he admitted that that was the inspiration

for the show. Tartakov actually tried to pitch

this whole idea to NBC since he was the president

and whatnot. And somehow it didn't work out and

that's why Disney got it first. And then NBC

eventually realized that they should get a hold

of this once Saved by the Bell is ready to go.

But so it's somewhat based on a real person I

think the best thing as far as things you might

not know because I actually didn't know about

this This is the only thing I guess I didn't

know about this show Coming into this record

is the original pilot was a completely different

cast Yeah, the original pilot which aired in

1987 on NBC So the original pilot was on NBC

before they decided not to go forward with it.

Oh My goodness, the cast included Brian Austin

Green who most people will recognized from Beverly

Hills 90210, Jaleel White, who most people will

recognize as Urkel from Family Matters, and Bobby

Wilson, the character Bobby, or no, that's who

Jaleel White was, and then Jonathan Brandis,

who I only remember from SeaQuest, the sci -fi

television show. So you have Jonathan Brandis,

Jaleel White, and Brian Austin Green. Yeah, that's...

They're almost not recognizable. No, when you

when you said Brian Austin green was in this

I'm like, okay cool I'll I'll keep an eye out

for him and the Brian Austin green that I was

thinking of was the pilot version of 90210 the

very like he's not the older He's not the grown

-up Brian. He's the very young really really

baby -faced Brian Austin green from the pilot

of Beverly Hills 90210 And I was looking for

one and I'm like, okay, I don't get it. And then

there's the kid with the business suit and the

business cards and I'm like, oh, okay. Totally

not him. That's not how you picture Brian Austin

Green. Yeah, no. It's like, holy crap. There's

no way, dude. So if you want to see some young

versions of Brian Austin Green, your little white

and Jonathan Brannis, search out the original

pilot of Good Morning Miss Bliss. This episode

was terrible. Yeah. This episode was terrible.

First of all, Jonathan Brandis ends up in Ms.

Bliss's home again. Another student ended up

in her home. And this is the one that spent the

night at her home. But it was just terrible.

These people, and this is what I brought up earlier,

Zach felt like he fit. To me, Zach makes this

show. None of these guys, even though they're

good actors and they go on to succeed and have

successful careers in other shows, they wouldn't

have been able to put the show on their shoulders

like Zach does. I love it because it sounds so

horrible, but Jaleel was the only black kid,

right? And he was the pudgy one, wasn't he? Well,

besides Lisa. Well, black male. Okay, yeah. African

American male. Oh my god Yeah, I so did not recognize

him Yeah, he got a little taller and a little

skinnier by the time family matters hits The

only way you can recognize him is by his like

eyes. He has like this very distinct eyes But

it is interesting it's worth watching just to

see these three even though it's not real crystal

clear quality, but uh This show this the pilot

was terrible. I can understand why it didn't

get picked up after this because nobody seemed

comfortable in their roles except for Miss Bliss.

And yeah, the theme was even worse, the theme

song. They have a different Mr. Belding. I know

you thought he was great. Oh my god. Because,

OK, when I first, because the, and I know we'll

talk about this later, but I'm sorry, the YouTube

quality for the pilot. It's terrible. Just. Not

in the terrible doesn't even begin to cover it.

I mean it is like god -awful Unwatchable quality

of video the mr. Belden in their pilot is terrible

though, right? But what oh? I was coming back

around to that okay When I the reason why I brought

the bad quality is because I thought they actually

said a different name I thought they said mr.

Bell or mr. You know I didn't think it was Belding

and then I started watching another episode and

like oh my god Yeah Well, it's Mr. Gerald Belding.

That's not his name in Saved by the Bell, is

it? I don't know if they have the exact same

first name or not. I don't remember his name

being Gerald in Saved by the Bell, but either

way, Mr. Belding was terrible. They had a couple

different people playing some other characters

too, which were equally as terrible. Really,

Ms. Bliss is the only character that you can

almost even watch in this episode. It's just

bad, but it is worth watching, just... because

you need to have seen it, at least once. It seems

like this is like a formula that evolved, because

you have this pilot, they change a bunch of stuff

and then you get Good Morning Miss Bliss, then

they change a bunch of stuff and you get Saved

by the Bell. It's like it took three times until

they got it right. And thank God they did eventually.

Thank God it survived the first two cuts and

went on to a third version in Saved by the Bell

classic. Go ahead. Yeah, I know how people hate

me reading from wiki, but I have to Mr. building

portrayed by Dennis Haskins is the principal

base on high school say by the bell in its first

appearance in the pilot of Good Morning Miss

Bliss Mr. Belding's first name was Gerald and

the character was played by Oliver Clark as we

have stated it does not state here about So we

could say that it was his brother Or his uncle

or his cousin It does not say Any other name

other than Gerald, but I don't think they ever

called him that and say by the bell I don't think

so either so so anyway, so that's some stuff

You might not have known that there was an original

pilot featuring these three future stars But

go out watch it and take our word for it and

confirm it that it's terrible As far as where

they are now we're gonna do this a little different

because we have a lot of different saved by the

bell shows in this block obviously So we'll talk

about different people in each one So we're not

going to talk about any of the holdovers that

make it to the save by the bell classic years

We're just going to talk about a couple characters

that don't really make it. Hayley Mills, obviously

everybody knows who she is. Most famous probably

for Parent Trap. Her last big role that I've

seen is a TV series called Wild at Heart, which

I have no idea, never seen it. I've never even

heard of it. She was on it from 2007 to 2011.

I know she did some theater stuff after Good

Morning Miss Bliss. She did a few little spot

TV shows and stuff like that. She, her heyday

was really when she was younger. You know, obviously

she sticks around and does things from time to

time, but as far as where she is now, she's kind

of not on the radar anymore. Well, she's 65 years

old, so. Right, right. I do find it interesting

though that good ol' Mikey, which was played

by Max Batimo, He is a now a referee for men's

hockey in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association

Which is a division one ice hockey conference,

so he went from being Mikey to being a hockey

referee We haven't seen that yet in the telecast

someone going from the show to being a referee

But I cannot find anything really on Nikki Or

the other teacher that I will refuse to talk

about because she's too over -the -top and crazy

Yeah, Tina, what's her name? Yeah. But there

was also Milo, TK Carter. He hasn't done much,

but I do know him for a couple of roles he had

as voiceovers. He appeared in Gem, the cartoon.

He appeared in Transformers, and he appeared

in Space Jam as voices of different things. So

he's done a little bit of voice work. He still

does TV from time to time, but he hasn't had

any major roles that I don't think anybody would

recognize him from, but I do love him. So not

many of them are doing anything in television

these days except for the ones which we'll talk

about next episode. So I think we're going to

take a break. We're going to listen to some retro

Good Morning Miss Bliss sound bites and commercials

or whatever I decide to throw in here, as well

as some GeekCast Radio information and commercials.

Bliss. Miss Bliss? Well, uh, what happened to

Bruce, we've been looking all over for you. We

looked in your class, we looked in the cafeteria,

and you weren't there. Ha! You were in the halls

the whole time. I know. You were buying concert

tickets. That's right. You weren't there either.

You know how Led got the mumps? Zach, enough.

Call your father. I want to see him after school.

Can't you wait until tonight? Mikey, go to class.

You don't have to call your parents. I don't?

Thank you, Miss Bliss. I'm so relieved. So grateful.

I'll see them tonight. So dead. Zach, what's

going on? Nothing. I got school. I got busted.

No big deal. You're wrong. It is a big deal.

And I think it's time we talked about your father

and me. Hey, there's nothing to talk about. It's

got nothing to do with me. It's between you and

him. It's got everything to do with you. How

do you feel about it, Zach? Hey, it's fine with

me if you just... Zach! What? How do you... How

did you feel when you saw us kiss? I hated it!

Look, I don't want you to be my father's girlfriend.

Is that what you want to hear? Yes. Yes. If that's

the truth, yes. Well, it is. I'm sorry. It probably

doesn't make any sense. But it just doesn't feel

good. As a matter of fact, it makes very good

sense. Anna, I'm sorry I hurt you. I tried to

convince myself that it was all right to go out

with your father, but deep inside I knew it was

wrong. Miss Bliss, I don't want to lose you as

my teacher. And I don't want to lose you as my

student, and that's very important. You're very

special to me, Zach. And I hope you can forgive

me. Yeah, I can forgive you. Ms. Bliss, I think

this kind of means that we can forget about me

and Mikey cutting class. No. Ms. Bliss! Zach,

don't start. and you may be wondering how you

can watch some of this classic Good Morning,

Miss Bliss. And it seems like our curse from

the game show block is kind of carrying over

a little bit. It won't carry over very long.

But this show is basically not available in any

means, DVD, Netflix, or iTunes. It's one of those

where, once again, you have to rely on YouTube.

Now, there is a user called Saved by the Bell

Tube that does have the original pilot as well

as all 13 episodes of the show. So you can watch

it. on YouTube in its entirety, the whole season,

the whole series. Unfortunately, the quality

is not up to par. It's pretty crappy, especially

for the pilot. It gets better with the other

ones, but it's still not as clear as we've seen

in some of the other later shows in the 90s.

It's just one of those things where usually when

you get some of these more obscure 80s cartoon

shows, they don't survive in very good quality

in the YouTube versions. But it is available.

Go ahead. If you really want to watch this show

and watch it in fairly good quality Get up at

like 7 or 8 a .m Eastern time and turn on TBS

because I know that they rerun it on TBS in the

mornings Yeah, sometimes you just have to wait

until they're done with us the save by the bell

and when they recycle back to good morning, Miss

Bliss But you can usually catch it at some point

still on TV so you can check your DVR for that

and it'll be much better quality than YouTube

but You could watch it on YouTube. That's probably

all you'll need to do which kind of brings us

right into the whole rating system What do you

give this one? I'd probably give it a two Just

I mean a two or a three just because Two even

though I didn't know about it back in the day,

but be until it gets a DVD release Honestly,

it's not even It's really not even worth it.

I mean I very strongly considered giving this

one a one I give it a two just because it does

have some saved by the bell type moments, which

make it okay but this show I don't know too much

miss bliss too many things at her house too many

inappropriate moments And too much of Nikki and

a couple other characters. I can't stand You

know Zach's in it, so it makes it watchable and

screech and Lisa in it So it's okay, but this

this is one of those ones where you only need

to really see one or two episodes Yeah, it really

is watch it on YouTube, go find it on TBS or

whatever station it's rerun and watch one or

two episodes, you get the gist. That's how it

is for the all 13 episodes. That being said,

it is only 13 episodes, so it's not very hard

if you really wanted to watch the entire series.

Yeah. Wouldn't take very long. You know, one

of the things that I'm glad that did carry over

as far as, I know even though technically Miss

Bliss and Save aren't really in the same continuity,

but there's one aspect of the entire franchise

that is. Good morning, Miss Bliss is where Screech

first professes his love for Lisa true So they

did carry that over What are your final thoughts

on this first version of Saved by the Bell? It's

better when Zack finally hits like I just none

of the original cast in this outside of Screech

outside of Screech and Lisa. None of the original

cast in this really made an impact with me at

all. So it gets better when Zack shows up. Overall,

I mean, it's good to know that it came before

Save the Bell. It's good to know that it exists.

It's good to watch one or two episodes to see

what it was like originally, but thank God they

changed a whole bunch of crap. They kept some

of the music the music carried over as far as

the music during the show not the theme song

so they kept some of the music they kept a few

characters and they improved everything else

and Made a much better series which we will talk

about next episode. So I'll take this chance
