Radio .com presents Decast Radio Special Episode

Artist Spotlight 12 Stones Hello and welcome

to GeekCaster Radio. This is yet another artist

spotlight in the epic music spotlight that we

are continuing here at GCR. I am one of your

hosts, David Young -Mike, and joining me is JT

from Saskatoon, who is a drunk geek. One time.

And no one will ever let me forget it. Hey, at

least I didn't bring up the other thing that

you didn't remember or didn't even know about

so anyway Today we're gonna be talking about

the band known as 12 stones before we get to

that we have some Unfinished business to do with

the Nickelback show When we recorded the Nickelback

show I didn't bring this up I remember doing

it obviously but It didn't occur to me to even

bring it up until I found the ticket stub. What's

the date on this thing? Saturday, March 25th,

2006 at 7 .30 p .m. I was in Freedom Hall here

in Louisville, Kentucky, and I saw them on the

All the Right Reasons Tour. awesome fucking awesome

you know what the downside to it is i got a contact

high from being in there i'll just just ride

the high out mike no no i know but the stupid

thing was because it was my mom and i that went

to the concert because she likes nickelback's

music and we went And I ended up getting a contact

high. The whole time home, I kept saying, repeating,

punch the pencil, punch the pencil. And really

what it was was here in Louisville, Kentucky,

we have a section of town called the Highlands.

And it's essentially a two -lane road, but it's

within the city. But it's a two -lane road with

all these businesses and bars going along down

the side of it. And there's traffic lights at

every intersection. I can imagine like like every

single street has his traffic light Or every

third street and I'm like, oh forget it just

punch the pencil punch and I meant to say punch

the pedal For you know pedal to the metal and

it's like oh god. I Got high in a Nickelback

concert and I've never done drugs in my life

stupid contact high. Oh Baby shut up. Oh Sorry,

sorry wrong word. Oh muffin uh... shut up no

i was too cold to see them and i swooned oh man

it was awesome they're coming to saskatoon in

the next little while here and unfortunately

i couldn't get tickets so and the money was not

there yeah which that uh... me bringing that

up now and that's the last we're gonna be talking

about nickelback obviously but uh... that actually

ties into part of today's uh... episode with

uh... with twelve stones so what have you been

up to very quickly basically working and doing

a little redesign on my blog authentic geek and

just trying to finish a couple of scripts so

I can start recording again soon so just keeping

busy basically awesome and by this time in the

past two weeks I've recorded over 25 podcasts

Need to slow down like Well, a lot of it's pre

recording stuff, you know for for future use

so that way it's that way it's done but yeah,

and I think it's a good thing and I've said this

on another podcast, but I Don't in real life

because I have no life. I don't talk to people

It's very right like unless I'm talking to myself

you know I don't you know go out and socialize

with people I live my life on the internet and

you know whatever that's that's that's how I

choose to do it but I don't talk a lot in real

life I think I have selective mutism I just choose

not to talk to people because people just annoy

the fuck out of me half the time in real life

and half the time when I'm talking it's it's

on these podcasts so I was I was kind of wondering

if my voice was gonna go out this weekend Between

Monday and and today is Saturday Like I said,

I've recorded slightly over 20 21 podcasts and

still no loss of voice. So yay for that See,

so what do you haven't come down with a case

of God yet? No God, dude. Hey big guy loses his

voice more than anything else. Good lord So I

think we're going to go to an album break and

then we're going to come back with the first

couple of topics. We'll be back after this. So

we are back from the album break and the first

topic is how we each started or stopped listening

to 12 Stones. I heard them on the radio. At the

time I was between late 99, early 2001. I was

living in Mississippi and I moved away back to

Massachusetts and then in 2002 I moved back down

to Mississippi. and in 2002 is when they debuted

so I heard Broken on the radio which was their

first single and just kind of haven't looked

back since. Now with me I discovered 12 Stones

by way of the Daredevil soundtrack yeah because

Paul McCoy did I guess backup vocals or well

he sang the chorus Basically on Evanescence's...

Oh god, now I can't... I'm blanking on this one.

Bring me to life. That's it. You know, which

also introduced me to the lead singer Amy, but

that's for another day. But no, I dug the band.

I mean, they got a real good hard rock sound

that I really dug onto or cling to. And from

then on, like, honestly, the only... I mean...

because we're doing a spotlight on them, like

I've heard a lot of their stuff, I only actually

own one of their albums, I own the first one,

you know, their debut. The one thing I got to

take away from them, like I just love their hard

rock sound, and it's not a knock at them, but

they've got a very, at least in some songs, they

sound like a more aggressive version of Three

Doors Down. Because there's a lot of guitar work

and a lot of their music that sounds kind of

similar to three doors down. Yeah, yeah But aside

from them, I mean just looking at their wiki

I mean these guys and I just gotta say right

from these guys are like the Kenny Loggins of

the the aughts Because they've done no and I'll

explain that in the fact that Off of like their

second album Potter's Field and from then on

They do a lot of their songs, not necessarily

they're written expressly for, but a lot of their

songs show up in movie soundtracks. Oh yeah.

I mean, you know, when we talked about Lifehouse,

Lifehouse is essentially the made for TV band.

These guys are the made for movie soundtrack

band. And I don't say that disrespectfully to

them, but yeah, I mean, it's just so great. I've

listened to the self -titled album, the debut

album. Sadly, after track four is where I just

kind of fade away from it. I just can't... Own

the entire album and I've tried listening to

home fadeaway backup soul fire in my head running

out of pain and my life and Eric's song and I

just can't I Just can't get into it. I don't

know. I mean, it's kind of like um When we were

talking about Bush in the in the 90s countdown

and stuff like that where I started out with

Bush where I would listen to stuff like Glisser

You know, I would listen to something, you know

the the famous songs the songs are on the radio.

Yeah And initially, I only listened to Broken

for the longest time, and then they released

The Way I Feel and then Open Your Eyes. So those

are the three songs that I mainly listened to

off the self -titled album. It's not that I think

it's a bad album overall, it's just I just can't

get into it. I just can't get into all the other

ones. Yeah, no, I mean, there's those three.

The other one off the debut album that I really

liked is Eric's song. And I mean, it's just got

the beat of it, you know, the attitude in that

song. It's not wholly aggressive the way a lot

of their songs are. It's got a, at least for

them, it's got a very relaxed tone. Right, yeah.

And then it starts to ramp up and it sounds like

a traditional 12 stone song. Yeah. But I just

like the energy of it and the way it kind of

flows, not necessarily lyrically, but musically.

Which a lot of times with a lot of bands like

this, I might not like the lyrics, but I dig

the music, so. Oh, no, yeah. I mean, and then

going over to... Let's see, 2004 with Potter's

Field. This one at first I only heard Far Away

and then somehow I got roped into listening to

Shadows and Speak Your Mind. I remember a photograph

off of the Punisher soundtrack But it wasn't

a song that I could get into. So, Speak Your

Mind, Far Away, and Shadows are the three that

I listened to off of Potter's Field that I really

like. Because they, you know, it's that signature

12 stone sound. The rest of them I, again, I've

tried, like I own, I bought both of these first

two albums. It's just I don't listen to them.

Other than select songs. Honestly with the ponders

field I'm Hi, I'm not wholly ignorant of it,

but I really only know the shadow song mmm, not

necessarily because Well, mostly because of the

Punisher But I also noticed it in a trailer like

it's on the wiki here. I was like, yeah I remember

that it's in a trailer for the second Pirates

movie dead man's chest. Yeah, which I thought

was kind of because a lot of the other trailers

you don't hear any real modern music in it aside

from the orchestral stuff but I dug shadows the

other another song from their self title I should

mention that I really enjoyed was my life which

was featured in the soundtrack for the Rocks

2002 movie the Scorpion King you know which is

badass and from then on Kind of said just kind

of that. I know let go from the daredevil soundtrack

obviously yeah, I mean like Well, yeah, yeah,

see see that's the thing you know the same thing

with um you know I'm gonna compare them again

What happened was between 2002 and 2004 kind

of the same thing with with Nickelback between?

Silver side up and the long road between 2001

2003 it was The daredevil sound it was the daredevil

album that got me to realize. Oh, hey 12 stones

has new music That's awesome Because it wasn't

until I heard let go That I knew that they were

going to be coming out with with new New music,

so I mean, you know again soundtrack, you know

soundtracks being the springboard Yeah, and I

mean, that's that was for me, especially growing

up with a lot of movie song tracks That's got

me into a lot of different, you know musical

acts and groups and whatnot But yeah, like Potter's

Field aside from the one song. I'm like I said,

I'm kind of ignorant about it Not necessarily

in a bad way. Just didn't really listen to it

And then you skip like yeah, the Nickelback factor

kicks in and it's another three years for the

next album You know anthem for the underdog And

kind of like you, I wasn't aware that, hey, they've

got new music until I saw the movie Never Back

Down. Yeah. Which is basically a poor man's karate

kid mixed with MMA. Was Jackie Chan in that?

No, Jackie Chan is not in that. And that new

movie is actually really good. I'm just saying.

You know, hey, MMA is cool, kids like it, let's

make a movie. But the song I used in that was

the title track of the album, Anthem for the

Underdog, which is actually really good. And

then the other song off of that album that I

really enjoyed, because just tooling around on

YouTube, was Adrenaline, which I found... found

out according to the wiki anyhow is the theme

song for the world's strongest man competition

in 07 which was kind of cool but no anthem for

the underdogs it's got the you know the 12 stone

sound yeah but it's a little i find it to be

a little more energetic and a lot of their early

stuff especially on the 12th on the original

like the debut album they've got uh wouldn't

this say a melancholy sound, but they've got,

there's this underlying kind of heaviness to

it, you know? Yeah. I mean, broken is kind of

like your traditional rock song. You know, it's

that, you know, you know, high beats, high drums,

you know, high guitar riffs. Yeah. Uh, the way

I feel is it kind of is, it's emotionally heavy.

Yeah. Um, and then, you know, open your eyes

again, goes back to. That you know, you know

hard guitar riffs and drums and everything else

now as I said before Potter's field with shadows

far away and Speak your mind, you know, you know

far away is essentially another not another version

but another Feel of that song from the self -titled

the the way I feel it It has that slowness to

it as you know it's kind of like life house when

they do something like Something like hanging

by a moment, but then they go and do something

Like whatever it takes where it's it's not harder,

but it's it's it's not a slow song either. You

know what I mean? So that's, you know, that's

how I felt about Potter's film. When I came to

Anthem for the Underdog, this was the first album

I listened to cover to cover. Love every single

song off of this album. It's just a great, great

album. It just is. I'll talk about a couple of

these things here in a bit when it comes to why

I feel that way about it. It was the first album

that I heard all the singles and then I was like,

hmmm... You know, I want to check out the album

and I think one of the reasons why was because

at the time I'll talk about this in a bit. I

actually saw them and I've seen them in concert

twice so I'll tell that story in a little bit

but Anthem for the underdog It has a track listing

that flows very well Like, you know, you start

the you start the disk or you start your iTunes

playlist with anthem for the underdog and it

Basically, it's a song that kicks your ass. And

then you go to Lie To Me, and it's another rock

song. It was the first single. And then you go

to something like Broken Road, which is, again,

slower. It slows down. Yeah, it's got that more

subdued tone, basically. Right. Which also, I

should mention, there are very few artists that

have come out of American Idol that I enjoy.

And Broken Road was co -written by Chris Daughtry.

Chris Daughtry, yeah. I enjoy his stuff. I'm

not like, oh my god, Chris Daughtry, can I touch

your head? You know, like most women. Well one

thing you're not a woman I know I'm just saying

it's I don't go I don't go once you had a sex

change operation in the last week that I know

we're not talking about that Mike Yeah, I'm just

saying I don't get weak in the knees at the sound

of his voice, but I do enjoy his music so and

I think that essentially since They said that

one it was core in Miami and it sounds in there

like, you know, it's it's a 12 stone song what

else it kind of sounds like a dotry song and

I thought for the longest time he was singing

on it, turns out he's not, but yeah, that's probably

Anthem for the Underdog, Adrenaline, and Broken

Road would be my favorites off of that. Lie to

Me is okay. Lie to Me is okay for a first single,

but it's not something... It doesn't stick with

you. Yeah, yeah. You know, if it comes up in

shuffle, great. you know even if it could you

know obviously because I have I have playthrough

lists that I'll take you know the you know my

favorite songs and and you know coming to this

album it's actually all of them that I like so

I'll listen to it and stuff I actually prefer

the acoustic version that's on this track 11

I just like the way that they you know presented

that but what I was saying earlier about you

know you get kicked in the ass by anthem and

then you know lie to me Again, you're still getting

kicked in the ass broken road. It slows it down

adrenaline Adrenaline really I mean adrenaline

essentially knocks you on your ass. I mean really

I mean more so than the other two hard ones because

that's a Really upbeat hard song. Oh Huh, I agree

with you on that. It's just it hits you and it

doesn't let go oh no not at all um and then they

have it was you which again it goes back to slow

song uh this dark day is even slightly a slow

song i mean it but but that one has it it has

some hard guitar riffs in it but uh really where

it kind of gets gets really sad i think it was

after the virginia attacks somehow they they

had already written the song world so cold but

because you know sometimes music companies or

labels or whatever also say oh hey let's use

this song as a tribute to this tragedy um i remember

at the time when the uh virginia um was it columbia

university i think i i forget there was that

virginia tech yeah yeah yeah The Virginia Tech

shootings. There was videos all over YouTube

and everything else with this song paying tribute

to the people that died in that attack. The bonus

tracks off of this, if you ordered it through

iTunes, you get a bonus track called Once in

a Lifetime. And if you had gotten it at Walmart

Music Downloads, you would have gotten an acoustic

version of It Was You. There was an unreleased

song called if I could I don't know if that has

ever been Well, obviously here on wiki. It says

unreleased. I don't know if it's ever going to

be released at all but once in a lifetime to

me is kind of like It's kind of like oh God one

of my favorite songs off here now shit the fame

one Oh, fuck, some of that song. Brain Cramp.

Oh, god. Son of a bitch. Once in a Lifetime is

just like the song from Nickelback's Here and

Now that is... Dammit. Lovely radio. So, editing

this out. Here we go. It is kid that's what okay

I got it Once in a lifetime to me is kind of

like what Nickelback did with here and now with

kiss it goodbye Whereas kiss it goodbye is a

song about how fame is fleeting Whereas this

bonus track from from 12 stones and them for

the underdog is once in a lifetime where hey

You need to take this shot Because it's a once

-in -a -lifetime show you like you know how you

know the whole message of going after what you

want Going out your dreams right exactly. That's

what once -in -a -lifetime is to me is it's a

It's a song about taking that that shot because

you're only gonna get it once in a lifetime No,

I can see that. Yeah, it's just Like I said,

it's the what I like about like off the anthem

for the underdog was, again, the title track.

It goes with the themes of Never Back Down about

this kid who, you know, he's in a new place and

he's getting picked on. Basically, the way the

song, at least musically and lyrically, the way

the song moves really kind of applies to the

story of this kid who's just trying to deal...

you know with the loss of his dad and trying

to fit in and it just kind of works because it

you know the kid the Sean Farris the actor you

know his character is basically this underdog

so i mean the song was perfect for it but it's

it's just really hard to kind of find stuff about

with these songs it's just like i said anthem

for the underdog broken road and adrenaline it's

just they're great songs Because it's just they

don't necessarily I think I think it's because

they're kind of like when I say middle of the

road I don't necessarily mean that they're just

average Right, but they they hit that kind of

they just hit that perfect kind of chord between

Being just a rock song and breathe being something

meaningful like it really Those three songs hook

me in that special place. You're kind of stuff

like I was saying on the Nickelback show like

don't don't ever let it and like the the final

track real it wasn't the traditional nickelback

song was actually almost something of departure

form but it just it still has that hook that

just gets you right there in the center and it

doesn't let you know and that's the state especially

the anthem for the underdog is just the way that

music goes i could listen to that song ten times

over not be bored oh yeah no i mean i can listen

to the entire album and not be bored like i mean

i can i've done multiple listen -throughs to

this album and and again it's absence makes the

heart grow fonder honestly seriously when it

comes to artists we like as i mentioned in the

nickelback show by late 2007 until early 2008

when they released the singles for dark horse

i was like okay i'm sick of all the right reasons

i want new nickelback whereas the 12 stone stuff

Like I had paid attention a little bit to Potter's

Field back in the day, but I wasn't like I didn't

really get it until much later Yeah, and then

in 2007 it was like oh, hey We have a new album

like fuck. Yeah, so I was like, you know I'll

check it out and I you know, like I said I heard

lied to me and I like that and whatever else

and then I Got the album and I actually liked

the entire album Yeah now they were going to

make a full album in 2010, I believe. Let me

make sure I have the information correctly. In

November 2009, the band recorded their fourth

studio album with producer David Bendith. We

Are One, the first single from the new album,

was released on April 6th. The song premiered

on Noise Creep. I almost thought that said Nose

Creep. I don't know what that was. Nose Creep?

Yeah. or no script or something, on March 29th,

2010, the very same day being leaked to the radio

by WBSK979X in Wilkes -Barre, PA, it was later

announced that despite the band's original intent

to record a full -length album, they would instead

be releasing an EP titled the only... Easy day

was yesterday Which would feature the single

we are one the reasoning behind why the band

only released an EP? Even though they had recorded

a complete albums worth of material was never

fully explored or explained now from anthem to

the from the anthem album to This this EP that

they released they switched labels. They left

wind up Or really I didn't know that well I mean,

I've missed it in my research, obviously. The

EP, The Only Easy Day Was Yesterday, was the

last thing that they did with Wind Up, because

the new album coming out next month, Beneath

the Scars, is under a different label. Okay.

Yeah, and I guess the only reason they just did

the EP and all that's, like if they had a whole

album's worth of material there is probably just

because somebody popped the balloon or pricked

it with a pin. I mean, yeah, let the genie out

of the bottle. I got out of the bag. You know,

I got more metaphors. I can keep going. But obviously,

I think that's the main reason why you use the

genie in the bottle metaphor that Christina Aguilera

that is that is a commonly accepted metaphor

that is popular usage had nothing to do with

Christina Aguilera. And I wish you would stop

calling me. Wait, she starts calling you? What

the hell? Another day night. No, that's not true.

Not as far as you know. But yeah, no, I mean,

obviously, it's never been explained, but that's

got to be the reason why that it's just the steam

left the stride, basically. Right, yeah. the

only easy day was yesterday has five tracks on

it uh welcome to the end we are one disappear

tomorrow comes today an enemy um all of these

tracks i like them uh the first time i heard

about this and the first time i even heard that

they were potentially doing an album before i

realized it was just an ep before i found that

it was just an ep was because we are one was

the theme song of the professional wrestling

wrestling stable the nexus or the new nexus um

or yes or whatever um man southern rock band

i i don't know but yeah not not my favorite wrestling

clique i'll say that much but yeah no it's uh

i knew it mainly as the uh the nxt right the

nxt rookies yeah the theme song because they

use that like the first season Basically, yeah,

and yeah, the other ones I again. I didn't know

about the EP at all. So Yeah, no, the EP is is

just I mean, it's just awesome to see them doing

more You know more songs and everything and it's

just It's just amazing It just is and then I

Would have actually delayed us putting out this

this episode of the music spotlight until We

were able to listen to the new album coming up

May 22nd 2012, but I just couldn't So far they've

released three singles off of it infected bulletproof

and worlds collide There's 14 tracks on this

album So obviously I will be doing a review at

some point for geekcastradio .com But it is the

fourth studio album by the rock music group 12

stones to be released May 22nd 2012 as I said

The new single, Infected, was released to radio

stations and iTunes on February 28th, while Worlds

Collide was released on February 7th. The album's

original single, Bulletproof, was released on

July 12th, 2011. See, originally, this album

was supposed to come out last year. It was produced

by Skid Mills, who produced the band's previous

album, Anthem for the Underdog. Samples of every

song, minus the track for The Night, can be heard

on the band's YouTube page. Beneath the scars

has been delayed several times originally the

album was titled only human And first schedule

for release August 23rd 2011 But then the delay

in September 6 2011 was later postponed to be

remixed and remastered and then given a new release

date of March 27th 2012 The album's current release

date has been now set to May 22nd 2012 God, I

hope this goddamn album gets released. Holy shit

would be nice Yeah, you think because I was like

like if they had released it March 27th We would

so be talking about all these songs, but just

out of infected bulletproof and worlds collide.

What do you think? Honestly, I haven't found

anything I haven't been able to listen to this

EP You didn't listen to the music clips. I sent

you I listen to the music music clips Mike, but

I didn't you know I dug them. I did like what

I heard. I didn't know which song was which.

I'm just saying. I loved what I heard. That's

it for how each of us have found it. We're going

to take another album break and then we will

be back to talk about another topic. You try.

So we are back and before we get to our next

topic, I have since schooled JT. I'm sorry. We

were talking at the end of that last piece of

us talking, I was talking about the new album

coming out, Beneath the Scars. And I was mentioning

the three singles that were out already, Infected,

Bulletproof, and Worlds Collide. And he's like,

yeah, I couldn't tell. I'm like, dude, come on.

I'm sorry. Know you put a lot of work into those

clips that you sent me and I should have paid

more attention I apologize Canadians, you know,

I do not bring Canadian Canada into this mic

I made a mistake and I'm owning up to it So what

did you think of I sent you? World's collide

and and infected. What did you think of the two

songs off the new album? I like both of them.

World's Collide, it's got that softer sound that

12 Stones can do, but it still kind of has that

signature sound. I really dug Infected, because

it's kind of going back to the 12 Stones on their

first album. It's just got that loud growl in

their voice, that hard rock feel. So yeah, definitely

love what I heard. probably try to pick it up

on iTunes if I ever get money. Or if it ever

goes up for pre -order on iTunes, because as

we said before, this album has had the worst

history with first being called Only Human and

then being renamed and then delayed and everything

else, so who knows when we're actually going

to get the new album. Now I do need to say that

the The next topic is more so for me than it

is for JT because I've seen them in concert twice

And I actually used to know one of the drummers

But before I get to that story I need to bring

up the fact that for the Beneath the scars the

new album Paul McCoy obviously lead vocals Eric

Weaver lead guitar, Justin Rinner rhythm guitar,

Brad Reynolds bass, and Mike McAnus on drums.

Before that lineup there was Paul McCoy, Eric

Weaver, and Aaron Gaynor. Aaron Gaynor was the

drummer, percussionist, and backing vocals that

I knew. Now it does list him on here as 2012

to... it says 2010 and then 2012 to present.

but he has no credit on the new album, so I'm

not sure if Aaron is still with the band or not.

How I came to, it's actually how I came to find

out about 12 Stones was when I was living in

Mississippi. He was the midday DJ on 97 .9 WCPR

in Biloxi, Gulfport, Mississippi, and his DJ

name was AJ Fantastic. He's a really, really

cool guy, very, very awesome. uh... the first

time i saw these guys in concert was in two thousand

three it was a free outdoor concert uh... three

doors down was headlining uh... twelve stones

in theory of a dead man were were opening uh...

and just like theory of a dead man twelve stones

uh... said the two the two bands actually set

up next to each other before the show uh... and

you know allowed people to come up and autograph

stuff and and everything else and they were they

were just cool to hang out with it was very very

awesome the next time i saw them was in two thousand

seven they actually came here to louisville kentucky

and played at headliners music hall uh... i actually

get to hang out with them backstage and everything

else it was very cool that's when i got my uh...

anthem for the underdog cd signed uh... it was

just a very very cool time so You know, I can

actually say that I knew someone in a band. So

that was kind of cool. That must have been awesome

to hang out with them like that. Oh, it was.

And as I said, I'm not exactly sure what's going

on with the new album. I know, according to Wiki,

Aaron Gaynor is not listed as being personnel

on the new album. So the band must have had a

lineup change, but as I've said in the past on

the music spotlight episodes You know no disrespect

to the work that you know drummers and guitarists

and and all that do for me as long as the lead

vocalist doesn't change and The sound remains

the same as far as the voice of of the music

I'm okay, you know, I mean, it's you know 12

stones wouldn't be What they are without Paul

McCoy's voice if they got someone completely

different to do it I don't know if I would still

like them or not Yeah, I mean with any Anybody

leaves a bad the band runs a risk of not Having

that same sound. Oh, yes, you know obviously

I mean you look at Well, if you know kind of

a reverse way, it's an altar bridge a lovely

and myself include a lot of people thought that

was the new Creed Let me finish before you jump

all over me Mike I'm just saying if a lot of

people miss that mistook it for the new Creek

because they had a very similar sound because

Like 90 % of the pad was Creed. They basically

told Scott staff to get the step in But it's

kind of that reverse way is what I'm saying Yeah,

I hate to be the well actually guy, but I guess

that that's just what I am Scott stab had a nervous

break he he broke down. I mean oh, yeah, you

know he just did and Mark Trimonti Brian Phillips,

and I forget what the other guy's name is off

the top my head They left the band and they wanted

to continue making music. They found Miles Kennedy

and created Alter Bridge. Brian Marshall, that's

what it was. Scott Phillips, Brian Marshall,

and Mark Tremonti, that's what it is. So yeah,

as far as the band lineup change and everything

else, I'm not exactly sure what's going on with

that because Wikipedia lists two different things.

I have since found, actually by going to their

YouTube page, I've found the website for their

label and I'm actually going to try to contact

someone at the label to maybe get an interview

with Paul McCoy because I would love to interview

him. I would be a kind of kick -ass, I don't

know why. Yes, it would be. Well, I've already

interviewed Dave Brenner from Theory of a Dead

Man. I mean, why not Paul McCoy? No, there's

really no valid reason why you shouldn't be able

to, so... Yeah, exactly. So... I guess since

we really can't talk too much about the new album,

obviously since it hasn't come out yet, let's

switch over to your favorite 12 stone songs that

you still listen to. Well, right away, right

off the first album, it's kind of like you said,

2, 3, 4, and 5. Like Broken the Way I Feel, Open

Your Eyes, and Home. Probably the ones I'd still

listen to, like I said, it's the only album I

have. Right, you know and I have it on cassette

Oh God You know, that's right 2002 they were

still making cassettes. Yeah, I did have the

CD at one time I don't know what happened to

it. I probably lost it in a move But yeah, I

mean I knew I Like I love broken I Probably think

my favorite song off that album was the way I

feel because it sounds a lot like broken but

It's not I wouldn't say that broken is negative,

but it's not The way I feel while it sounds the

same somewhat. It isn't as heavy as Broken was

yeah Yeah, I know if you go off of Potter's field

again, like I said, the only song I really know

is shadows Which I love that song But yeah, I

think probably my favorite album would probably

be Anthem for the underdog. It's got the most

tracks on it that I like. Well, outside of the

first one. I'm gonna have this go on YouTube

and track them, because I'd like to hear Light

of Me in the acoustic version, see what that's

like. Yeah, I mean that's, you know... That's

the same thing with me. It's like I like the

you know tracks two three and four off of the

self -titled album And it's not you know as I

as I said earlier It's not to say that the other

songs on the self -titled album are bad It's

just I just couldn't I just couldn't connect

with those songs yeah Same thing with Potter's

field between shadows far away and speak your

mind those the only songs I connected with Whereas

anthem for the underdog loved it all love the

entire album. Oh, yeah It's just great great

stuff And then you know with The only easy day

what was yesterday? I love those five songs and

I'm loving so far the singles that they've released

for Beneath the scars. Yeah, so I can't wait

to hear those those songs in in the in the track

order that they have for Four beneath the scars

when it comes out next month. So Any other thoughts

or anything before we go to break? No, I love

the band and the one thing because I mean just

in doing the research and all that Like looking

at the form when you look at the wiki it has

past members and it's like that that that that

that It's like damn. No one wants to stay in

this band But then you when you actually go down

to the members section you see most of these

guys were only on For one or two albums or they're

on for like a track Or something like that, right?

Yeah, but I mean just looking at that in the

wiki. It's like that It's like damn does no one

like Paul McCoy Well, it's not even I don't even

know if it's that I think it's more of a at the

Specifically speaking for when anthem came out

when that album dropped That night at the show

I asked, you know Because I was confused as all

hell I thought it was just the original three

or four members that I knew of from the last

time I'd seen them and Then there was this new

guy and this other new guy there was you know

they turned into a five -piece band I'm like

who are these guys and like you know whatever

else and I was like oh, okay cool um And I asked

Aaron at the time. I said you know what you know

what's going on with you guys What's you know

the lineup change everything else he goes well?

you know other guys you know decided to leave

on their own or you know you know some of the

guys are still you know oh i know what it was

i asked him to play some of the older i said

hey you know hey are you guys gonna play because

i actually caught up with him before the show

i said are you guys gonna play some of the older

songs and he goes we'll play you know the the

ones everybody knows but as far as like You know

specific ones, right? Yeah is like, you know

some of the some of the you know We have two

new guys in the lineup and they don't really

they they haven't really caught on To what all

the songs are and I'm like, okay, you know, so

At least it's not a tragic. I mean 12 stones

has it has a bright future Like I said, I mean

the the three songs or the four you know three

yeah yeah yeah three songs that they have four

four beneath the scars is just so the each one

of those songs is so great at this point i absolutely

love them so um i guess just as long as they

keep making music more power to them exactly

so we're going to take a commercial break and

then we're going to come back and close the show
