nice 84 is also here from Tooncast Beyond. Hello.
Hey, hey The biggest ego in the room. Oh, jeez.
Next to you. What? No. Yes. Wow. No, no, no,
no. Yes, yes, yes, yes. Wow. I don't know. Team
Bottomless is the biggest ego in the room. Wow.
I was going to actually be like, thank you, gentlemen,
for including me on this wonderful discussion
about a franchise that I hold very dear to my
heart. And I just hope that I can entertain enough
and be here on the same level platform as the
rest of you outstanding fine gentlemen, but instead
I'm going to say, fuck you! Tonight we're going
to be wrapping up our Turtles Week, Turtles Month,
whatever the heck it was, with G Serves of 40
and we're going to talk about in -depth about
the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Sketch, what's
been going on with you? Oh man, I've just been...
Working real hard four days a week and relaxing
the other three she works hard for the money
so And I gotta do so much walking for this job
I got blisters on both my feet totally sucks
You're only working four days a week though.
Yeah, it is true, but two of them are 12 -hour
shifts That's more work than you're doing TFG
one Okay, mr. I'm a YouTube professional. Hey.
Hey, you want to compare bank accounts, sir?
The whole ego thing just came right out right
there Moving on yes moving on Super ego It well
that the id the ego and the it or something.
I don't know for its anyway. Yeah What have you
been up to, Paul? Oh, not too terribly much.
Just, you know, same old, same old. Being a YouTube
celebrity, that's about it. It's tough work.
And Steve, what's going on with you? My son will
be born next week. Congratulations. Thank you.
The spawn of Satan. It's Megatron. I get them
I get them confused. I'm sorry in any case I
think that's really the most important thing
going on Yep, yep All right. So as I said, we're
gonna be talking about all kinds of different
turtle stuff We're gonna start with the comics
on top of the cartoons the movies We're gonna
briefly touch on the music the video games the
toys And a whole bunch of other stuff. So we're
gonna come back with some comics talk after this
turtle prime Grim gritty my kind of place figures
I'm thinking of retiring here. We'll all be retiring
here permanently if we don't find the shredder
and stop him Uh, Leo? I think someone just found
us. Source dimension? Source turtles! What is
this? Eight wannabes? On our turf! Trying to
steal our act? I destroyed two on my way down.
Donatello takes out a third with his staff. Already
the pudgy ones are starting to panic. Raph loves
this stuff. He's not alone. Why is he narrating?
Is he crazy? Hardcore crazy. I love these guys!
So first up, before we really get into the whole
comics talk, we should probably talk about how
the Turtles got started because it did get started
in comic form. The basic gist of it is Kevin
Eastman and Peter Laird created and published
one issue of their comic. And then I believe
Mirage picked it up, right Paul? No. Mirage is
their company Mirage is they they created one
from a tax refund that I and a loan right and
When they did it they formed Mirage. Oh Okay,
yes Yeah, which is I absolutely love the name.
The history of the name is it's a mirage. It's
That's what they wanted Yeah, it's just it's
hilarious. It's using what they dreamed they
could do and hope beyond hope whatever happens
and it was all just an illusion and it turned
into something massive that has now spanned several
well not several but a couple decades yeah and
and it came out in 84 the comic came out in 84
and the company launched in 84 too didn't it
uh yeah it was it was all done at the same time
yeah The year I was born! Yay, we know you're
young. I was a six -year -old, old fogey. That's
right. So essentially they created this company
called Mirage in 1984. Wonder which came first,
the company or the transformer? I don't even
get that reference because we're not talking
about transformers. Mirage, the G1 transformer.
That's right. Epic fail. Wow. Anyway, so you
guys are all pretty much the comic book geeks
as far as this franchise goes. What made the
comics so good or so, what made the comics so
interesting for people to read back then? Either
you guys want to go. I haven't read much of the
comics, to be honest. I don't get that qualified.
They came out the year I was born, man! I will
say this much about the comics, though. It's
jumped around to five different companies over
the years. Mirage, Archie, Image, Dreamwave,
and then IDW. IDW being the more recent one,
yeah. I mean, the Ninja Turtles, when they first
started out, were... The biggest problem that
you're gonna have when you ever talk to anybody
who's who's younger and you talk to them about
Ninja Turtles They are automatically going to
use the any number of the cartoon series as their
source material This is where I found out how
Leonardo was the way he is and Michael and you
know the Ninja Turtles in in the comic form While
while they have some similarities there there
are much darker More I would say more of an adult
sort of comic book that During the 80s you you
weren't getting a lot of adult sort of books
that were coming out in terms of comic form So
look if you look back at him even now that there
are darker. It's a darker tale I mean even when
you look at the whole story of shredder and splinter
and the turtles and uh... the the violence that
ensued when the turtles fest first met shredder
it's it's something that you know most kids at
you know i mean here i i mean when i was i was
six years old it was something that you it was
something that wasn't seen before that i think
was one of the biggest lures to it they were
mutated turtles Mean it was there. They were
ninja fighting mutant turtles that it was just
completely off the wall and weird and Not as
bubblegum fun kind of stuff that was already
mass -produced by that point time and you got
I mean you got a lot of what one of the biggest
influences for for Laird and Eastman was Jack
Kirby who very big in a lot of the Marvel things.
And one of the big inspirations for the Ninja
Turtles was Daredevil. And Daredevil by its nature
is kind of a darker kind of story. And a lot
of the inspiration for the Ninja Turtles came
from those kinds of works. So I think it just
touched on... Completely different genre that
a lot of people weren't really expecting in the
the mid 80s I suppose Now have you guys gone
back and read any of the old comics lately or
any like recently at all? Yeah, I I was rereading
Kind of the origin story storyline because I
wanted to get more specifics on that and These
comics are really entertaining. I gotta say they
hold up Yeah, that's Lee well and you people
should definitely go get the IDW re -release
of those old comics Oh, yeah, those are those
are I I think as far as I know there's four books
out right now They're really nice books. They
span a Couple issues from the early days, and
I think there's four volumes that are out right
now The best part that I absolutely love about
those is in between each Issue so like right
after you read the first issue there is a small
little page page or two that layered and Eastman
wrote Going back and revisiting it and be like
this is what it was like when we were writing
this and this is how this came to be and this
is why we put this in there and this is why this
happened. It's really a great read and then you
get the behind the scenes about how it actually
came to be what it was in the very early days.
And they're not that expensive of books. I think
they're on Amazon, they're like 30 or 40 dollars
and they're hardcover. They're great reads. If
you are fans of Ninja Turtles, all of them are
fantastic. And again, like you said, Paul, most
people are going to reference one of the animated
series. But what I loved about the thing is what
you just mentioned was something that they did
when they did Turtles Forever. They bookended
it at the end there. Right. That was fantastic.
Yeah. That was pretty cool. Do you guys think
that... there should be a current running turtles
line in comics today. What do you mean? There
is a current run. It came back before the show
started. It launched in August of 2011. And it
actually has Eastman involved. It seems to me
that between the two it seems to me between the
two of them Eastman has really embraced everything
that has been done with the franchise. Ah Yeah,
yeah Yeah, and Laird is essentially just jumped
off the cliff. Yeah Eastman was totally okay
with the next mutation. Let's leave it that right
Which was also okay with that Michael Bay script
See and as much as I love turtles, I gotta be
honest and Mike and I had talked about this I'm
not totally opposed to what we initially were
told about the the Michael Bay thing Well, we
will talk about that a little bit later because
I've got some really interesting information
on that that that project action on that it's
They didn't write that script. It was somebody
else right? He's just producing it Yeah. Well,
I mean... But using him as a spokesperson, that's
essentially what got us all riled up. Yeah. I
think, well, we'll get into that later, but I
think it was something else that got... Yeah,
we'll get into that later. The comics, everyone
should go check out the comic books, whether
it's the current run, whether it's the old issues,
whether it's the reissue hardcovers that Paul
was talking about. Everyone should check this
stuff out because they're amazing. It's how the
Turtles first started. It'll open it'll open.
I mean literally it will open people's eyes to
a completely different Version of the turtles
I mean no matter what I mean you could look at
the the various cartoons throughout history the
movies They all have a very kind of similar underlining
sort of presentation about how the turtles are
and The comics will completely give you a different
look at how they started and subsequently how
they were changed. Yeah. The closest thing to
the comics that already existed was the first
movie. I absolutely agree. Yeah. Absolutely agree.
You know, they tweaked a few things to be closer
to the cartoon, but that's definitely a good
place to start. Yeah. I mean, that's the mindset
to go in when you read the comics, but there,
it's just a whole completely different beast
because... there was a lot of things that were
changed to make it appropriate for children.
And it's just so cool to read those old comics
and see where this really dark story took some
interesting turns. Yeah, I mean, because most
people don't even realize that... I mean, again,
they see what we saw on cartoons, and that's
what they consider canon. And the origin story
is, while it's similar in the comics, it's...
Different and you're like, whoa, what what really?
Yeah, and the other thing is people who are following
the new cartoon they should Check out those old
comics so they can see some of the things that
were actually Nicely adapted from the comic into
that new cartoon. Yeah So since since sketch
brought up the the cartoons we're gonna take
another quick break, and then we're gonna come
back with some animated series talk It's a shell
of a - The image of the four creatures is a bit
grainy, but even so, you can make out what appear
to be four large turtles. It's gotta be some
kind of gag, right? What else is an option? Slapping
you! Mikey, on the right! Your right or my right?
Are you kidding me? I hate this thing! Nice work.
When we're done here, there's a marching band
that needs a majorette. How am I supposed to
fight advanced alien technology with a stupid...
There you go folks you just heard an amalgamation
of all three of the animated series not counting
the the CGI movie and in turtles forever, but
We are gonna talk about all that here in turtles
in animation and when it first started it was
87 It actually it's really funny and really has
surprised me when I read this The miniseries
was repeated three times before it found an audience
Really? Five part miniseries was repeated three
times before it found an audience I find that
very very interesting Because you know all of
us as as you know kids of the 80s and early 90s
Anyone that has seen the 87 series Anyone that
has seen any 80s cartoon in general knows how
campy And over and over the top the 80s in general
have been in were Turtles is no different, but
It still was a made this series has such amazing
writing and how I personally I fully admit I
have not I do not remember and I have not seen
anything past Season two in a very long time
November 13th this year the complete classic
collection of the 87 series all ten seasons is
going to be packaged in a turtle van packaging
coming out on DVD I definitely want to get that
so I can rewatch this show. I have seen the five
-part miniseries so many times I can pretty much
quote it verbatim. From what I'm told, the biggest
problem with all the DVD releases is they're
not sequential. Yeah. So you can literally be
watching like say episode, say 20, and the next
episode that would be on this set would be like
25. And they jump around and they actually went
in the order that they had on the old Ninja Turtles
website Which wasn't the same as broadcast order
ah? Which which yeah, which screws some things
up in my mind because I get confused very easily
But I think that's the same order that they're
using for The that giant box set mmm, so we'll
see i don't know i just i just want a big old
turtle van i'm pretty sure it's in production
order yeah but but that's but production order
doesn't necessarily mean that's what was aired
so there's so there are some like i don't think
there's any continuity issues with the i don't
think so Don't know you heard otherwise well
somebody somebody was telling me something about
it because I was like Oh, I want to get that
and they're like, I don't think they fixed Such
and such a problem and it was something to do
with the order. Oh Well, they ended up putting
one episode on two sets when they're all that
But they eventually released those episodes which
was a planet of the turtloids and a time travel
on with the with hokum hair Once upon a time
machine Yeah, I'm looking at TV shows on DVD
calm Will season 10 DVDs have the two missing
fifth season episodes studio says yes. Yes, they
so and that will be included in the and then
That box that's just gonna be the same discs
with new covers Right, right Sketch, when you
were a kid, growing up watching this, what did
you think of it? Wow, man. I think it was maybe
the third cartoon I ever saw after DuckTales
and Rescue Rangers. And I loved it. I couldn't
get enough of it. Great characters, really funny.
I don't know. I've always kind of liked Turtles,
though I assumed that that was because of Ninja
Turtles, but maybe I liked Ninja Turtles because
I liked Turtles. I'm not entirely sure, but it
was very entertaining to me as a kid, as with
most people. That was my 80s show. People talk
about how Transformers was their 80s show and
Thundercats was their 80s show. No, Turtles was
my 80s show. I'm aware it went into the 90s.
Most of us who were born before 84 were aware
it went into the 90s. What about you, Steve?
What was your exposure to the 87 series? I knew
it went into the 90s. I actually had VHS tapes
of the miniseries. Oh yeah, man. as well as some
of the other after episodes into season one.
And I would catch it on TV whenever I could.
That series to me, that was the most awesome
thing I'd ever seen at that point. To the point
I had to have everything turtle related. I just,
I loved the concept of the turtles. I loved the
fighting. I liked pizza, so that was another
reason. Hey, they had all kinds of crazy crap
on their pizza. And then I loved the Technodrone
and Krang and Shredder. I mean, all those characters
were so memorable. Yeah, some of it was a little
bit campy and cheesy later on, but it was...
It was really good. I mean I That's definitely
something I would I mean I have the series not
legitimately at the moment, but oh Hey, I don't
have the money yet. I plan to get the big nice
little set. I like it I'm not the only one that
collected those DVDs as they came out and I couldn't
wait to get pretty out of the four of us probably
so yeah because like steve said i i had the burger
king phs tapes oh i had all four of those too
you know from the bk big club or whatever it
was kids club yeah yeah yeah yep yep because
that because again not not to get sidetracked
off on another thing here but that that was the
thing of the 80s you had mcdonald's and burger
king going cutthroat at each other between happy
meal And then Burger King was kind of cooler.
They came out with the Kids Club and everything
else and this, that, and the other thing. What
about you, Paul? What are your thoughts on the
87 Turtles cartoon? Well, when I was a kid reading
the comic books, it was something that when I
first saw the cartoon, it took me a little while
to adjust to it. There's a lot of things that
didn't make sense right off the bat. Number one,
and it's something that's echoed now in the new
series, Krang was one character in the cartoon
series, whereas they were a race in the original,
so I don't think they were called the Krang,
but it was ugly, the ootroms, yeah. There are
brains inside Android bellies, and it didn't
make any sense to me I'm in you got to remember
in eight in 87. I was what nine nine years old
so I'm trying to wrap my brain about what I just
read and then what I saw and The other one that
as I got older which always kind of bugged me
was The origin of splinter a lot of people I
mean in the in the cartoon it was a rat Hamato
Yoshi was one of the characters and he had a
pet rat. Well, the rat is actually what mutates
into a human sort of thing in the comics, which
is opposite, kind of, in the cartoon. So it took
me a little while. I mean, for some reason, it
just didn't make any sense in my brain. But...
That's how it was in the movie, too. Right, right,
exactly. They went back to that original story
in the movie. You know, I grew to love it. There
was not time... I mean, I can tell you things
like dude and cowabunga, you know, all these
words became kind of... I don't want to say like
cultural phenomenon, but the Ninja Turtles really
did take the world by storm. And... a lot of
the things that they said really kind of became
part of pop culture. I mean, it exploded and
it's all because of that cartoon. And you look
at it over history and it's, I honestly, I mean,
Transformers might be one of the only franchises
that I can honestly think of from the 80s that
To this day still has strong staying power much
like the Turtles do and The the cartoon that
we have now that's airing on what is that on
Nickelodeon? Is is a phenomenal series and you
know what we'll touch on that here in a little
bit, but right you you can see that there's still
a fan base for this and Ninja Turtles, it's one
of it's like one of those franchises that never
really goes away. It's always there and I honestly
can't think of an original 80s cartoon series
that has that same kind of staining power. I
think of Transformers and Ninja Turtles. That's
all I can... They've tried and other franchises
have sadly failed. Yeah. Several times. Hasbro
keeps bringing back G .I. Joe every now and then,
but... Yeah, but that's not... Sadly, they should
have... Anyway, it's a little other topic. For
me, Turtles was simply amazing. I've said this
before in other podcasts. It was after Transformers
had gone off the air that I really noticed it.
It was after Thundercats was gone. It was after
all this other stuff was gone. And I was like,
OK, this is the new thing. Between this and Adventures
of the Gummy Bears, I was set. Shut up. Hey,
Gummy Bears is a good joke. That's right. Anyway,
stop singing, damn it. Sorry. So yeah, Turtles
was my thing. I liked all of it, as much of it
as I saw. I wanted the toys so bad. And I actually
had my original Leonardo and Donatello from when
I was a kid up to about two years ago. Of course,
they didn't last very long. They didn't last
throughout the years, though. It was just the
general. you know, bodies. There was no accessories,
there was no weapons, no nothing. That's dirty.
That stuff's always gonna go, man. Those nunchucks
Michelangelo had broke so easily. Yeah. The thing
about the show was it was... The story drove
you so much. Like, that was a driven story and
it was absolutely great because... They knew
how to, you know, use their cliffhangers, like
going into commercial breaks or, you know, ending
an episode. They knew how to keep you like, oh
my God, I have to watch this as soon as it comes
on again. Let's go around the room and pick one
hero and one villain from the 87 series. Sketch,
what about you? What's your one hero, one villain
that you like? Oh, man. One hero, one villain.
That's that. That is some tough stuff. Well,
for the villain, I think I got to go with Krang.
Because as a singular character, he's got to
be the most entertaining villain He's always
pushing shredder around like like his wife And
he's a diabolical genius, but he's he's such
a smart ass He's great I kind of had an existential
crisis recently trying to determine which turtle
is my favorite these days but Nowadays, I have
a greater appreciation for, say, the humor of
Raphael or Donatello, but when I was a kid, it
was all Michelangelo. Yeah, everybody loved Mikey
as a kid. What about you, Steve? One hero, one
villain from the 87 series. The hero for me back
in the day, which is actually kind of ironic,
kind of leads into my favorite of... the 2012
version but is Raphael I just like the kind of
smarter assery that he had in the show and but
he was also a little bit more serious than everybody
else not to the point that he is in all the later
animation or films but I still found him to be
a fun character every time he broke the fourth
wall and then my favorite villain which should
be fairly obvious as of late is Krang and his
robotic body and I actually that is the only
turtle toy I have remaining is Krang in his robotic
body it's badly it's badly damaged but like I
would be looking for parts to fix it, but that
has always been my favorite character. I love
the vocals that Pat Fraley threw into that, also
tying into Turtles Week, the interview. I can't
do it. We're not all just saying Crank because
you guys interviewed Pat Fraley, right? No. Yeah
in that interview people really need to go listen
that interview with Pat Fraley because He actually
walked us through how he created the vocals for
crane. It was awesome. Yeah, that was so awesome
What about you Paul one hero one villain from
the 87 cartoon strictly from the 87? Cartoon
my my hero is Donatello It's no secret that as
a kid I was Attracted to that sort of personality
Ninja Turtles. It was Donatello Transformers
it was wheeljack it was pan throw for you. I
mean anybody who was like an inventor or Anything
like that a brain sort of guy. Yeah It's subsequently
kind of changed over the years, but now my villain,
this really doesn't kind of count as a villain,
although he was created by Crane. My favorite
villain was Metalhead, and it was probably just
because he was a created sort of thing, and then
he tied in with Donatello, and he subsequently...
was no longer a villain or anything. But he was
my favorite. That was my guy. For me, from the
87 cartoon, not to copy Paul, but mine was also
Donatello. Copycat. Shut the hell up. I love
Donnie. He was so awesome. He was so fun. And
just hearing the contrast between Barry Gordon
of course back then we didn't know who voiced
these characters But today and you know the age
the internet and all that stuff. We know who
did between hearing Barry Gordon as You know
using his own voice as junior on the snorks compared
to using his own voice as Donnie and in turtles
I was like I can't believe that's the same character
For villain, I'm gonna go slightly different
than you guys have. I really enjoyed Rocksteady.
I loved me some Rocksteady. He was always really,
really cool. Bimbo, I'm gonna make you eat that
camera! Yeah, I didn't really care for Bebop
that much. He's no decent cowboy. Bebop and Rocksteady
are joined at the hip. They are. You can't like
one and not like the other one. I can, because
Rocksteady was the only mutant toy I had. Well,
that makes sense. I had the four turtles, Splinter,
April, Shredder, Krang, and I had Rocksteady.
I never had Bebop. Rocksteady was a more... I
don't know, a cooler toy design, maybe. A more
socially acceptable toy design. Because Bebop
was, wow, I don't even know, man. Yeah. I mean,
it is a cool design, in a sense. But it's so
ridiculous. What's funny, what's hilarious, is
if you look, if I'm not mistaken, in the first
couple episodes, Bebop and Rocksteady, they're
human counterparts. One's a black guy, one's
a white guy. And that changed. Later on in the
in episode in subsequent episodes. They were
the exact same character But like who became
bebop was actually the who they said was rocksteady.
It was it was really weird And maybe I'm just
crazy for remembering that Maybe that was just
an error So that's very possible frequent. That's
that's very that's that is very possible. But
as a kid it would hit It confused me. I get confused
easily. I want to do a shout out to a sort of
villain character that I just really enjoyed.
Well, I actually enjoyed, especially when these
two characters were in the same episode. I love
Leatherhead. I like them frogs. I never cared
for Leatherhead. Oh, come on. He was too weird.
He was too weird. He was definitely weird. But
I like the frogs better. I wanted to specifically
mention the frogs. The frogs were awesome. Yeah,
that's funny. All right. So from 1996 to 2002,
there was no Turtles cartoon. Nowhere. Now, in
this part of the podcast, we're talking specifically
animation. So that crappy mutation. It doesn't
count in this part of the podcast. It lasted
less than a year anyway. In 2003, we had Teenage
Mutant Ninja Turtles through Fox Kids, which
eventually became 4KidsTV and CW4Kids and whatever
else. I originally caught this one probably the
middle of the first season, and I was like, what?
is there's a new turtles cartoon holy crap I
think the early 2000s between you know 2002 to
2004 it was like oh my god there's all these
new cartoons from stuff that I grew up with what's
going on here you know but I like the 2003 series
I recently went back and watched a majority of
the first and second seasons absolutely loved
it great writing the voice cast was you know,
very well done for this new iteration. Steve,
what is your exposure to the 2003 cartoon? I
remember watching it when it first aired. I don't
remember much about it, like in the initial introduction
of it anyhow. I kind of caught episodes here
or there. It was not really a... The thing I
sought out it was more of I was flipping channels
and realized it was on and I was like Oh turtles
and then I would sit there and watch it even
if I had no idea where it was taking place so
For me, I mean I really enjoyed the series. I
like the new concepts in the new art direction
and I liked all the new villains and and concepts
that came up with but I Had seen it all the way
randomly through the series, so I caught it during
the initial start of it, the fast forward, the
back to the sewer. I caught it in all the different
iterations of the 2003 to 2009 saga. And just
to let everybody know before anyone else talks
about how they came to know it was that this
is Mirage. had, you know, a controlling stake
in this series, so this series, if you were a
fan of the comics, you're gonna be a fan of this
cartoon because it more resembled the comics
and it was slightly darker than the 87 series
and the stories in this are so well written.
What about you, Sketch? What's your exposure
to the 03 series? This show... I... I... I waited
on pins and needles for this show to premiere
after I heard that there was going to be a new
Ninja Turtles cartoon. And that fateful Saturday
morning, I watched it. And at the end, I thought
to myself, that didn't suck. And pretty much
ever since then, I've been enjoying it. And it
came to become, honestly, one of my favorite
shows ever. It's so great, the character interactions,
the storylines. This show builds from its very
simple beginnings to this crazy continuity that,
unfortunately, makes a lot of people get lost.
But if you stick with it, it's just such an enjoyable
story to see play out. Yeah. It's awesome. And
the fighting is so good. Yeah, the fighting is
so good. What about you Paul? Did you catch this
at all when it first aired or anything? You know
when it first aired? No a couple years ago. I
went back and watched some of the episodes it
It was it was again on a time where I kind of
got confused by things because ever after watching
the original animated series a lot of the comic
book stuff kind of disappeared from my mind and
I had to go back and Refamiliarize myself with
it. There's a lot of stories that you look at
with with it with the 2003 series That really
go back to the way like you said that the comic
book is there are characters in there that Really
get a lot more Screen time that that never really
got much going on in the original animated series
for example fugitoid That was a character that
like appeared in a couple episodes in the original
animated series, and he was a fairly important
character in the early development of the turtles
in the comics And it was good to see him come
through again in this new series the only thing
I really didn't well Yeah, I mean there were
other ones like the Triceratons and stuff and
things like that But the one that really kind
of confused me was the shredder That one confused
me. Once again, they went back to the U -Troms,
which were in the comics, but I didn't understand
why all of a sudden there was a specific U -Trom
named, like, Krell or something that took over
and started living the life of Shredder. That
didn't make any sense to me, and it really kind
of threw my brain. out the window. I didn't particularly
like that very much. But I mean, it worked. I
mean, it was good. It just, when I compared it
to my other stuff, I was like, eh, I don't like
this. The only thing for me, and I'm going to
have to, you know, I'm just going off my memory.
I have not gotten to, because I have found one
YouTube channel that, as I said a few minutes
ago, has essentially Almost everything up to
season 3 of the show on YouTube. Yeah every episode
like Turtles for life or something like that.
I don't I don't I don't know what the all as
I know is I can find it on YouTube you know and
I Remember watching it back in the day and as
soon as they hit the fast -forward button I was
like my god the show is jump the shark. What
the hell she's like The fast -forward season,
at the time when it was on, I did not care for
it. I'm going to have to go back and re -watch
it to see if it still leaves a bad taste in my
mouth. Probably will. It was an attempt to make
the show a little more like the 80s cartoon,
a little more light -hearted. It wasn't bad,
though. Not as story -heavy. Yeah, it had its
moments, but... It just in the great in the great
yeah in the grand scheme of things it could have
gone away Yeah, you're not missing much No, there
were still over a hundred great episodes, so
Yeah All right for this series as well. Let's
do the one hero one villain thing sketch one
hero one villain all right for hero I think I'm
actually gonna go with Leonardo Because he was
a way more compelling character in this series
than he ever was in the 80s show In fact, I blame
the 80s show for kind of making me not like Leonardo
Not that I didn't enjoy Cam Clark, but yeah,
he's he was just kind of boring compared to the
other turtles But in this series Leonardo had
one of the more compelling narratives Going on
in fact some would say the show almost focused
too much on him, and that's probably true But
you know his growth as a character is just so
tremendous in that series and He's very likeable
and every now and he now and then he'll crack
a joke, and it's funny None of the jokes Michelangelo
would say were were funny because they were always
so forced And they even made fun of that which
I appreciate If you know that you're not writing
good jokes, at least you have the decency to
say it. But yeah, Leonardo was boss in that show.
He was great. And he had his moments of getting
kind of emo, which wasn't so great, but he brought
it back in the end. So that's cool. And my favorite
villain by far is Agent Bishop. Agent Bishop
is a badass. He could fight all four turtles
and Karai at the same time. Shredder can't do
that. What about you, Steve? One hero, one villain.
Uh, the hero... I'm kind of torn between Leonardo
and Raphael. Raphael only for the fact that he
was extremely dark like the films. And then I
have to agree with Sketch as far as Leonardo.
I think I'm going to steer more towards Leonardo
just because he was less hero -y and more leader
of their group and seemed like he was actually
making an effort to stop whoever it was that
was harming their home unit. As far as villains,
I don't have much experience with the show as
far as the other villains, so I'm just gonna
say Shredder just because I like the new, interesting
take as far as the fact that he's an utrum and
the fact that he's got a robot bunny in the form
of the Shredder and it looks way more menacing
than the 87 series. I mean, all that hardware
is for making coleslaw. We know for sure that
shredder is definitely the most hardcore and
insane, because he wanted to wipe out all existence
just to get rid of the turtles. Which brings
us to the 2009 quote unquote film, Turtles Forever.
Now, before we get into this, I do have to say,
to let everyone know, I did look this up. Uh,
Turtles Forever was a non -union project, as
4KidsTV is non -union. So, when this first came
out, everybody was like, why are the 87 Turtles
all Michelangelo? Why didn't they get the original
voice actors? There's something with, you know,
SAG versus non -SAG that they don't want SAG
card members working on non -union projects.
Uh, so that's why Rob Paulson... Townsend Coleman,
Barry Gordon, and Cam Clark were not the original
87 Turtles in Turtles Forever. For me, Turtles
Forever was amazing as far as the story goes.
The only real gripe I have about that movie is
the depiction of the 87 Turtles. Other than that,
I loved it. And as Sketch just said, you know,
the 2003 Shredder proved to be the most badass
Shredder we've ever had. Well... Not counting
whatever the shredder in the 2012 series. Yeah,
he might he might surpass him Well, we haven't
seen it yet So because as of as of this podcast
the 2012 Ninja Turtles cartoon is currently airing
But we have not seen we've seen bits and pieces
of Oroko Saki But we haven't actually like seen
the shredder in action yet, right? Paul what
did you think of Turtles forever? It was I I
loved I loved it. I really I really did kind
of like what you were saying I I did not like
how they took The the 80s turtles and made them
all into Michelangelo. Yeah, you you don't necessarily
Okay, so they couldn't couldn't get the original
voice actor that's fine the more voice actors
that's fine, but you don't need to write them
all like that and to me that was I don't want
to say, like, disrespectful to that version of
them, but I just... Be disrespectful. I just
didn't like it. I didn't like it. I really couldn't...
I didn't care for that little bit about it. I
loved seeing them again. I loved, you know, being
able to revisit them, but the writing for them,
I thought... I mean, I understand why they did
it. They wanted to make them look... annoying
to the other turtles, but it was kind of blah
for me and You know the the 2003 it's it's the
2003 turtles just for me never really came across
very teenager ish They seem more like adults
to me and that that kind of bugged me that was
my first real kind of hardcore exposure to the
2003 turtles and Just left a bad taste in my
mouth not in a bad way. I mean it was an interesting
take on it, but it just It just I don't know
I mean I know what they were trying to do with
it they tried to go back more to the comic books
and stuff, but Just didn't work for me. I love
the story though. I mean I absolutely love the
story. I thought it was a great great thing I'm
to this day. I'm fairly pissed because I can't
get a like a uncut version of the movie on DVD
or Blu -ray format. The only way that you can
actually see an uncut version. There's like an
extra eight minutes or something like that. Seven
or eight minutes that aired on TV that people
saw. But if you bought the DVD for it that came
out, it's just the regular edited version. And
that drives me nuts. I want to get a good copy
of that. Okay, now... Let me ask this. We never
knew. We never knew at the time that it aired
on television, on 4Kids, whatever the hell those
stupid things called, we never knew that it was
going to come to media. We just thought, OK,
this is how they're going to close out the 03
series. Amazing send -off. And then it took.
X amount of years or however long it took to
get it to DVD, why didn't they just get the transfer
from the TV station and put that on the damn
DVD instead of doing an edited version? That
makes no sense to me whatsoever. I don't know.
Ask them. It makes no sense. Go on, ask them.
I'm guessing because Paramount took over those
duties. They probably just... And I know people
sent them messages because I'm fairly... Well,
not fairly active, but I've been active on the
Technodrome Ninja Turtles forum, where there
were lots of people bugging them about that,
but I guess they either just didn't get the messages
or didn't care. One thing that I would say, I
loved finally actually seeing the comic book
turtles animated. Oh, yeah, that was damn cool.
That was and it was the way they did that whole
setup where it was like it was exactly like you
were reading a comic book, you know, they had
the the voiceover is if you're reading Yeah,
exactly. And when they played off of that, I
mean, it was just absolutely wonderful to see
the whole thing of the turtles prime. I think
that's what they refer to them. That's that's
where it all started. So I thought that was great.
A great, you know, incorporation of those characters.
That was absolutely fantastic. Steve, what about
you? For me, Turtles Forever, when I heard about
it, I was extremely excited. I saw it as kind
of a nice bookend to both the original series
and the 2003. I love the fact that they incorporated
Turtles Prime with, you know, the original Mirage
comic characters, and you have three Shredders,
three sets of Turtles, which the third Shredder
from the Mirage comics got thrown into the building
fairly quickly. They just chucked a garbage can
at him, and he went, I am the Shredder, and then
they go... And then he's gone, you know? Yeah.
The then you cry in there you get the technodrome.
I love the fact that technodrome got upgraded
With the the u -tron technology of the 2003 universe
I Thought it was kind of funny how They used
the gimmick of prangs robot body growing and
they did that with u -tron shredder And then
cranked up it and then gets pretty much, you
know his butt handed to him But I mean the whole
thing yeah, I can agree that they did kind of
nerf the 87 turtles a little bit much Making
them too goofy, but in the same vein It didn't
really detract from my watching experience of
it all that much It didn't detract from mine
at all, either. I still love the fact that they
ran in it. I love the fact that they got a little
bit better animation treatment by being in it.
All of the characters, for that matter. I'm sad
to see that they didn't get the original voice
actors, but like you guys said, it wasn't a union
thing so that... they couldn't get them, but
I still was happy to see that they tried to keep
it as close as they could and still do this nice
nod to the fans. One of my favorite aspects of
that movie was when they are talking about the
different universes and there's just like this
montage. of images throughout history. I mean,
they had the images of the movie turtles up there.
Oh, I know. I love that. All the cartoon versions,
all the various comic versions. I thought that
was wonderful. It was just a great way to see,
and it was a terrific nod to the history of the
Ninja Turtles. I absolutely love that. That was
one of my favorite scenes in that movie. The
turtle multiverse. Yeah, the multiverse. Yes.
Yeah. Yeah, I loved that. That was so cool. That's
like something that It's almost that that whole
scene is almost something reminiscent of something
beast first man. They're trying to do Yeah, go
back in time and kill everybody Looking through
the multiverse to find suitable henchmen Undead
Transformers zombies. Well, that doesn't come
until Prime. Yeah, I know. So the next one, the
current one... Hey, hey. I didn't get to talk
about it. Didn't you? No, we didn't. Shut up.
Let him talk. Yeah. That was such a freaking
great movie. I loved it. I loved every moment
of it. made the more times I watch it the more
frustrated I get with how they depicted the eighties
turtles but it's so cool to see them in the new
animation it's you know they perfectly recreated
that it well except for maybe the teeth but they
perfectly recreated that it was it was beautiful
I loved it and the interaction between the turtles
was generally very very funny stuff like picking
on for the The belt buckles Michael Angeles.
I like they got Letters on their belt buckles
like super here. Yeah, that's funny and Rafael
gets Gets his ego pushed around by Mirage Rafael,
right? So what's with the bright colors sell
out? What's the matter rap don't like some of
your own medicine Yeah, but it was it was fantastic.
And actually, I really enjoyed how they depicted
Shredder and Krang because they were hilarious.
And Krang belching at the end there. That belch
at the end there to finally prove that, oh, yeah,
it was indigestion all this time. That was kind
of gross, too. And Bebop and Rocksteady saved
the multiverse. That is true. Fantastic. That
is true. Yeah. Contrast with The Turtles. Is
there a better way to send off a franchise? I
don't think there is. No. It was epic. That's
a good way of looking at it. I don't like to
throw around that word because it's grossly overused
these days, but it was epic. And then currently
we have... the 2012 Nickelodeon Teenage Mutant
Ninja Turtles. I'm coming around to it, but at
first the theme song just kind of grated on me
a little bit when I first heard it, but I am
coming around to it. I do like it. I do see the
similarities between that and the original 87
theme song. I still can't believe the guy that
up high is the voice of Leonardo. I just can't
believe that. Honestly, I don't even think about
it anymore. And I don't think of Raphael as Samwise
either, or Rudy. Oh yeah, Rudy. Exactly. The
only one that I really have a hard time with
is Donatello. No, don't even. It's so hard. He's
such a great voice actor. He could change it
a little bit. Before you finish your thought,
I am going to put together an audio clip. I'm
going to email it to you of 87 Raph and 2012
Donatello. They are different. Even though it
is the same person, they are different. Sounds
the same to me. I hear it. It took me about one
episode to get used to that, and I think he's
a fantastic Donatello. I I don't think I don't
think he's bad. I it's just I hear I hear raft
too much when when I when I hear them Dare I
say he might actually be even better is Donatello.
Oh that ain't even right I Can kind of see that
then be them some fight? Well, he's he's given
he's given more to work with in that case That's
true. He's given more emotions to work with for
sure. So you can see all of the tones that he
can bring out in his voice. Whereas, you know,
80's Rafael kind of stayed around the same area.
Yeah, he kind of did. The thing about Donnie
in the 2012 series is, yes, it is Rob Paulson
again. You know, he has told the story many times
of they approached him and he was like, well,
What about Barry Gordon because Rob is one of
the nicest guys in the world He wanted to make
sure that you know They had already approached
Pete you know if they were going for the original
people that they go to the right person And they
said yeah, we know who you are. We know you played
Rafael We want you as Donnie in a little bit
of a different take on Donnie I'm not too the
only thing that I'm really not too keen about
Donnie in this series is his whole Crushing on
April Russian on April creepy at this point Yeah,
that's metalhead. Yeah, but that's but that's
kind of that kind of plays into what I've seen
on the 2003 series that those two were pretty
close Yeah, I Think it's kind of the picture.
Yeah. Well, yeah, and and we still don't know
if we're gonna get Casey here with this new series
But we are oh, yeah Well, I haven't he's gonna
show up and see I haven't I didn't know this
you just thank you spoilers asshole That's spoiler.
I just said he's gonna show. Okay. Hold on. Hold
on. This is the guy that that Complained about
the fact that the Baxter Stockman episode does
not have mousers when Baxter is still gonna be
in the series He's not gone forever my my complaint
about Baxter Stockman not having the monsters
was because it every single other incarnation
of Baxter Stockman he's introduced with the mousers
And that's okay. That's what I'm saying is with
this new series They're introducing stuff and
introducing people and ideas and stuff at first
and then they're probably gonna come back to
it I know for a fact that they didn't do that
with metalhead Metalhead was a completely different
aspect. It was a completely different take on
it. No, but they didn't do that with them But
what I'm saying is without spoiling it for you
I do know for a fact that there will be mousers
in this series. What I would like to say is that
we had talked about the staying power of the
Ninja Turtles, and it amazed me that based off
of the ratings of the very first episode, they're
like, okay, this is good. You get permission
for a second season. That amazes me a little
secret that season had already been ordered Well,
that's not what they say. That's not what they
report Yeah, it was ordered back in there I believe
in their upfront and right right just ruined
a really good sounding story Yes, yes, yes you
do sketch Steve have you had a chance to check
out the 2012 series I watch it every week. Okay,
what are your thoughts on it so far, to this
point? I really like it. I like the new concept
for the characters. I love the fact that the
characters are more green in this series and
actually need Splinter, whereas the other shows...
Interesting use of the word green there, sir.
They were always so sheltered. Yes. Splinter
still teaches them from within the sewer how
not to be green. But anyways, it's interesting
seeing how they portrayed this new version of
the modern era of these characters and the fact
that they're all younger. But it's also interesting
to see how all these new mutagen characters are
coming along I'm not too fond of the fact that
Michelangelo kind of like mashes two different
things together and oh we have You know snake
face or you know, whatever. Oh Come on, you know,
you want a turtle pod. I totally love that You
know, you want a turtle pod Steve? I think the
writers decided that they were going to come
up with really silly names and figured, hey,
let's have Michelangelo name everything as an
excuse for why these names are so silly. Yeah.
In Lake Baxter, Stockman, I'm fine with it. I
mean, as long as they bring me the mouse at some
point, I'm good. Yeah. I could definitely see
more of the comic version of Stockman over the
87. Hmm just based on appearance Yeah, it's kind
of a combination of the two I feel well He's
got the goofiness of the 87, but he's got the
appearance of the comic Yeah, the comic in the
2003 so it's kind of a nice mixture But then
you've also got you know the dark shredder he's
got elements of you know I mean they haven't
really showed him they've showed bits and pieces,
but you get nice element of a mixture of the
2003 and the 87. And then the only thing that's
kind of weird about the Utram, Krangs, whatever,
I find it funny how they kong -tai all of their
their sayings when they're all talking and communicating
to each other because it's so... so pre -programmed
and stupid, but it makes sense and it's funny
at the same time. But it just makes... And then
the brains, of course, are like... when they
get out of the, you know, robotic bodies. And
they look kind of like his 87 crank body, just
a heck of a lot smaller, and it's more of an
exoskeleton of like Terminator over... They're
closer to the Utron bodies from the comics. Yeah,
so I mean but I'm just wondering if any of them
actually have individual personalities at some
point or if there's a thing Yeah, I know that's
the only thing that's kind of got me Because
I would still like to see one with it. It seems
like there would be a hive mind perhaps Yes,
like the real Craig Yeah, they'll call them outram
though in this series probably because they're
called crangs in this Yeah, yeah, so you know
they'll reverse it, but yeah, I mean I'm liking
it so far I I don't have cables so I have to
watch it online, but I'm really enjoying the
show You know the thing with the crangs I I found
myself, when I first heard the whole tongue twister
thing like you were talking about, Steve, the
first thing I thought of was, why is the viceroy
from Phantom Menace in a Turtles cartoon? God.
So yeah, no, TMNT 2012, I cannot wait. It reinvigorated
my need to watch Saturday morning cartoons, now
that Cartoon Network has axed DC Nation until
January. So but no turtles 2012 absolutely amazing
can't wait to see more of that and See what else
to do with it. We are going to take a quick break.
You're gonna hear some film stuff We're gonna
move on to the movies Your ninja skills are reaching
their peak Only one truly important lesson remains
but must wait I know it is hard for you here.
Underground. I want a large thick crust with
double cheese, ham, pepperoni. Your teenage mind's
abroad, eager. But you must never stop practicing
the art of ninja. The art of invisibility. And
I mean no anchovies you put anchovies on this
thing and you're in big trouble, okay That'll
do and the clock's ticking dude How you doing
hi Nice night Pizza dudes got 30 seconds Hey
Mikey, did you ever think about what splinter
said tonight? I mean about what it would be like
You know not having them Hmm times up three bucks
off 122, 122 and an eight? 122 and an eight.
Terrific. Where the heck is 122 and an eight?
You're standing on it, dude. Just slip it down
here. Give me that. Hey, this is a ten. The tab's
13. You're two minutes late, dude. Ah, come on.
I couldn't find a place. Wise man say, forgiveness
is divine, but never pay full price for late
pizza. I gotta get a new route. And I thought
I'd deliver it everywhere. What the hell was
that? I don't know. Well, that was a crime, you
purse scrubbing pukes. And this is the penalty.
Two minutes for slashing, two minutes for hooking.
And lest I forget my personal favorite, two minutes
for high -sticking. How about a five -minute
game misconduct for roughing, pal? Hey, bogey?
Now, who died and made you a referee? You did
your job. Now get out of here and let me do mine.
These J .B. Lowlifes need to be taught a lesson.
Not like that they don't. Not from you. Well,
it looks like you're the one who needs to be
taught a lesson, pal. Class is paying 101. Your
instructor's Casey Jones. Look, I don't want
to fight you. Well, tough rocks, pal. A whole
Zaykin's Zayko bat? Tell me. You didn't pay money
for this. That's it. Stupid one -sail pal. Hey,
what are you, some sort of punker? Huh? God,
I hate punkers. Especially bald ones with green
makeup. Or wear masks over ugly faces. New battle!
understands Crickey you gotta know what a crump
it is to understand Crickey I'll teach you What
the heck was that? It looked like sort of a big
turtle in a trench coat. You're going to LaGuardia,
right? Come back here! I'm not finished with
you! Damn! Fight? Fight. Kitchen? Kitchen. Yeah.
Pork rind? Pork rind. Oh! A fellow chucker, eh?
Deep dish action right about now. I had some
pizza down here the other day. There might be
some left over Well question yeah, do you like
penicillin on your pizza? All right, so we are
back and we're gonna talk about turtles in film
and in live action because live action we're
also going to talk about that um abomination
that happened uh female turtle we don't have
to talk about that do we briefly like for two
seconds all right you you said enough right there
now we can move on there was a female turtle
she was chinese she said she was a shinobi apparently
nobody ever told her that shinobi means ninja
see Also, there were dragons and her name was
Venus de Milo That's all we have to say about
that and now we continue on with the other had
curves Yeah, baby wrong. Yeah, baby I got sent
that I got sent that to review and I oh Yeah,
cuz shout Factory has it I about chucked the
DVD just because... It's on Netflix if anybody's
curious. You didn't review it? I didn't get that
far. Send that craft to me, I'll review it for
you. I was having a hard time watching the show.
It's terrible. Yeah, it's pretty bad. It's terrible.
it is pretty bad and then the fact that they
actually do crossover with power rangers at some
point i did like that because the ninja turtles
beat the power rangers and that was you know
i liked power rangers at the time but that was
so cool like yeah ninja turtles beat the power
rangers suck it because i totally knew that phrase
when i was a kid of course you did you watched
ninja turtles oh yeah They had to have said that
somewhere. The phrase suck a lemon mean anything
to you? No. So the turtles have been featured
in four feature films. The first three, produced
in the early 90s and released by New Line Cinema,
featured live -action with the turtles played
by various actors in costumes featuring animatronic
heads. The first live -action film was distributed
by Golden Harvest overseas, whereas the second
and third film were distributed by 20th Century
Fox outside North America. The fourth, released
in 2007 by Warner Brothers, was an all CGI animated
film but retained continuity with the previous
films. Again. from eighty seven to ninety turtle
mania was everywhere uh... i remember having
but i actually still have it's in my closet i
have i've i still have i've had since the movie
came out i have the original poster oh yeah i've
got that too well i mean everybody can find it
you can find anywhere but i mean this is like
i've i've had this for the last you know three
decades of my life you know i mean uh... when
i was a kid And the first film was just gangbusters.
It was amazing. It was awesome. Absolutely loved
it. You know, I recently went back and watched
it. There is nothing that I can nitpick about
that first film. It was amazing. I didn't like
Danny. OK, I will nitpick Danny because he's
a douche. But other than that, I don't like Danny.
Mean I come in there pixelated. Well. No it was
I mean you had You you had the turtles which
which I mean you can't have a ninja turtle movie
without the turtles You had April that was fine
Okay, you had shredder that was fine yet splitter.
That was fine. You had the foot soldiers fine
You had I can't even remember the dude's name.
You had the douchebag boss of April O 'Neil.
That was fine. You know Charles Pennington, Danny's
dad. Yeah, you know these you know these you
going from the cartoon to watching these movies
You can see all this stuff like okay. That's
fine. Where the fuck did Danny come from? Like
I don't shoot. I don't think it's loaded kid.
Yeah. Well, yeah, but I mean it's It's just didn't
make any sense He just needed to go away. He
was kind of dumb. Well, he... Alright, look,
as much as I don't care for Danny... And Tatsu!
Tatsu! I couldn't stand him either. Well, Tatsu
was cool. You know what the funny thing about
Tatsu is? According to my information, he was
voiced by Trax and Cosmos, Michael McConaughey
from Transformers. Yes, he was! I just recently
realized that. I was like, oh yeah, he was dubbed
over, wasn't he? That's crazy. Oh, and Corey
Feldman made his presence known as the voice
of Donatello. Absolutely awesome. Now, let me
defend Danny just a little bit here. Danny, you
needed him in this movie simply because of the
fact that he is April's boss's son. He steals
money from her. He sees the turtles. Gay. You
know, he then tells Shredder, hey... Still gay.
They could have rode around that. They totally
could have. They didn't need to have him in there.
You absolutely did not need to have him in there.
I mean, the whole foot thing... Outside of all
that I just pointed out there, the one reason
why they needed to have him in there, or the
one reason why I like him being in there... I
had some pizza down here the other day. Oh my
god. Dude. RAAA! Question. Do you like penicillin
on your pizza? No! If Danny wasn't there, that
whole scene would not have happened. That's one
of my favorite scenes in the entire movie. No,
that's not entirely true because they could have
put that scene up in April's place. No, no, they
could have come back to their lair and there
just would have been an old pizza that didn't
get eaten somehow. Well, I don't know. You think
there's a lot of leftover pizza hanging out in
the sewer for the turtles? I saw this when it
was in theaters. What about you, Paul? Did you
see this one? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Saw it in theaters
the second that it was released. I also had the
luxury during the heyday of video stores. My
grandparents owned a video store. So every now
and then, what a lot of people don't know is
movie stores would get the movies before they're
actually supposed to come out. So like a week
before the movie came out. I was at home watching
it on good old VHS and Absolutely loved watching
it over and over and over and over and over again
To the point where literally at the like I mean
we're gonna talk about the music bit in here
the the last song during the credits Turtle power,
I think that's what's called. Yeah, I seriously
sat there and paused and rewound, paused and
rewound, paused and rewound, and wrote down the
lyrics for that song so that I would have the
song memorized. It took a while for me to do,
but I did that because I liked that song. It
was ridiculous. It literally took me like an
hour to sit there and like I would like, you
know, get one verse, write it down, rewind it.
Play it, listen to what I just wrote down, listen
to the next verse, pause it, rewind it. I mean,
it was a very tedious process. Loved it. What
about you, Sketch? Did you see the first film
in theaters? Oh, absolutely. I believe when I
was maybe six years old when that movie came
out, my dad took me to it with one of his work
friends and their kids. And I loved it to death.
And funny thing, it got me in trouble at Kindergarten
because I uttered a little something that Raphael
said about three times in that movie Let me guess
did it start with D. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Oh I said
a naughty bird is it closely related Jim teacher
Oh that ain't right got sent home from kindergarten
that day attaboy And then my parents wouldn't
let me see the second Ninja Turtles movie because
of that until they came out on video Yeah, kind
of rough which which is funny because how it
was so much more tame But yeah, yeah, and I couldn't
get enough of that movie. I got it on VHS real
early on and kept watching it kept watching it
I think is one of the the first DVDs I bought
too I Can tell you my my first DVD that I ever
was given was The Super Mario Brothers movie
Steve, what is your experience with the 90 film?
Did you see it in theaters? I didn't see any
of the films in theaters. The first one, I remember
watching it on VHS. I remember it wasn't my favorite,
but it wasn't nearly as bad as the third film.
I did like the first one though because it showed
the The meshing of the group and then everybody
having to join together and then you have that
memorable state at the very end where the mirage
Turtles basically come out to play. Yeah. Mm
-hmm by chucking the shredder off the roof into
the garbage truck That was that was that was
splinter that did that Oh yes, I know, but it
was still reminiscent of that. It is. It's not
comic accurate because they beat the Shredder
themselves. Whereas in this case they got their
butts handed to them. And then Splinter knocked
them off the thing and then Casey activated the
garbage truck. Okay, that's one scene that was
not so well edited. It was like, what just happened?
And I realized, oh, he hadn't with nunchucks,
okay. Yeah, I wasn't particularly fond of the
animatronics used or not even animatronics, but
it's For splinter for splinter Yeah The turtles
I didn't have a problem with but splitter would
just look terrible And it looked like at the
beginning though that uh when you first see shredder,
and he's watching the news report It looks like
he's in a technodrome Kind of like the all the
TV stuff Yeah, yeah Instead he's got like a youth
center gone bad Yeah, basically basically check
out the old warehouse over on the East Ladman
Islands I Mean I can when that movie came out
I mean Mike you know I'm a freak for a lot of
these old movies getting re -released on blu
-ray and stuff As soon as the box set for all
four of those movies came out I got that the
very I got that like on Amazon where I got it
the very same day that it was released I I absolutely
loved that set I could I could literally go down
there right now and still watch the first Ninja
Turtle and even the second Ninja Turtle movie
and Just have as much fun I mean, it's still
goofy and kind of campy because you look at what
the mouth is doing and it's not what is coming
out of the speakers but it's it's fun it's it's
a trip i love it do you guys have any other thoughts
on the first film uh it has some fantastic lines
in it i believe my favorite would have to be
wise men say forgiveness is divine but never
pay full price for late pizza words to live by
you know what's amazing though if you said that
if you said that to kids nowadays they probably
would not have any idea what that means It's
tragic. It really is. Was that Domino's Pizza?
Yep. Back then, it was like if you don't get
your pizza in a half an hour, the pizza's free.
The pizza's free or something. Right. And nowadays,
they don't do that. No. Well, the thing with
that scene was that... It was after the scene
where Splinter said, you know, maybe someday
I won't be here, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.
You've got money in the background. Right. Well,
Donnie's skating in the sewer. It's Donnie and
Mikey. He comes up to Mikey. Donnie asks him
about what did he think about Splinter, what
he said tonight. And Mikey essentially just ignores
it and says, oh, Pizza Dude's got 30 seconds.
Pizza Dude's got 30 seconds. And then, and then
you wait a couple seconds and then, oh, time's
up. Three bucks off. And he's chewing on a popsicle
stick. Yeah. I mean, I love it. I think Mikey's
just really good at compartmentalizing. That
might be what it is. That might be what it is.
I mean, it was so fun to watch that movie as
a kid. You just see him, because it wasn't a
cartoon. They were real. I mean, you looked at
him and it wasn't CGI. You did. It totally did.
I mean, because they didn't have CGI back then.
Well, I mean, not that level. So you sit there
and you looked at that as a kid and you're like,
oh my God, these are real things. They're really
out there. They did a great job. Jim Hansen did
a fantastic job on those. Yeah. What I love so
much about it is that it's... It's something
I can watch now that takes me back to when I
was a kid That you know that first film same
thing kind of moving into the second film Second
film for me. It was I liked it. You know I like
that opening scene combat cold cuts You want
a pickle? I'll give you a pickle. I love Mikey.
He's so hilarious You know that beginning scene
was awesome I don't much care for replacing Casey
with Keno. That was kind of stupid, I think.
Well, yeah. What I did like was the Keno, the
guy who actually played Keno, was the person
who was in the suit for, I think it was Donatello
in the first movie. I thought that was kind of
a nice way to kind of bring him back, but yeah,
I thought it was dumb that... Casey was completely
omitted and I didn't care for the fact that they
changed April O 'Neill although I thought April
O 'Neill in the second movie was better -looking
No, no, not at all. I'm sorry. No, I would take
Judith Hogg over a page of Turco any day. Shut
your mouth. No way, dude. The dude's on crack.
You crackass son of a... What? Anyway, so the
second film essentially is the turtles trying
to find out where they came from, what's going
on. We get the introduction of TGRI instead of
T -C -R -I. We get Rachel Gould, who is a professor
now, because David Warner is Professor Jordan
Perry, who also voiced Rachel Gould in Batman
the Animated Series. Oh, that's right. That's
right, yeah. I thought that voice sounded familiar.
Shredder survived apparently he now has full
-on razor blades his armor. I Actually like the
shredder design more in the second film than
the first film like the scenes in the first film
when he's in the warehouse and You know, he's
making the speech. I like those scenes. Yeah,
but just seeing him Like standing that's next
to Tatsu or whatever else I didn't really care
for the design on the suit after a while the
second genetic Yeah The second film suit was
awesome. I thought that was great. I wish it
was Rocksteady and Bebop, not Toca and Razor.
Well, you know why that is, don't you? Comics?
Well, it ties into it. Yeah, Eastman and Laird,
they did not want Bebop and Rocksteady. The studio
wanted Bebop and Rocksteady, but Eastman and
Laird did not, so they went with Toca and Razor.
I like those guys. I thought they were kind of
cute. They're not stupid they're infants exactly
maybe they're stupid infants This was definitely
more of a this was definitely more of a campy
kind of uh, you know Yeah, I Remember it was
hilarious when I when when they when they introduced
that container I can't tell you the number of
times that as a kid I ran around pretending with
my friends that we were Ninja Turtles and we
had a bucket, or not a bucket, a can of Pringles
that we used as our container for ooze. It was
bad. Yeah, the one thing that I don't buy from
this film outside of the little other nitpicks
I have, the one thing I don't buy is that every
single New Yorker eats pizza on a nightly basis
at the very beginning. I think that's just a
play on the whole thing. Well, right, yeah. That
pizza looks good. You know I honestly I'd be
curious to know with with with the explosion
of Ninja Turtles in the 80s Through the cartoons
through the movies. You know the at least the
first couple movies I wonder how well pizza sales
did during that time I? Think they rose it had
to have skyrocketed Pizza I mean Ninja Turtles
was a phenomenon at the time. I mean, the only
thing that I could really kind of compare it
to after that would be along the lines of like
The Simpsons where the Ninja Turtles face was
plastered on everything. It was incredible. Exactly.
Steve, what did you think of the movie, the second
movie? That by far was my favorite film out of
the live action ones. I also had the VHS for
this. I watched this one so many times, I almost
ruined the video. I had to use tracking constantly.
Which I'm sure nobody of the modern era knows
what the hell that is. They don't know what tracking
is. They don't know what a VHS tape is. But no,
I really enjoyed this one more. I enjoyed the
Shredder's character more. You can't forget ninja
rap That was cool for the movie No, I still like
it The only thing I didn't like about that was
the flash mob that ensued and the turtles started
I'm like, okay, you could have cut that out.
Yeah, they had they had to do something fun and
can't be and then Then you get Michelangelo blowing
away the shredder outside with the ooze. And
then you get this monster super shredder that
scares the... A BWE star, Kevin Nash. And he
kills himself. Yeah. Yeah. Super shredder was
such a letdown because he was like, he looks
so powerful that... They just optimized him.
And then a bridge falls on him. It's like, OK,
if he's that powerful, he shouldn't be dead from
a bridge falling on him that he knocked on himself.
I mean, he got crushed by a garbage truck before.
And that was when he was a normal human. This
is true. This is totally unbelievable. And somehow
his razor blades and everything else got more
powerful and bigger and more pronounced when
he... Yeah, when he became Super Shredder and
he's like, I will kill you turtles, and he, you
know, could throw everything, break the pedestals,
but then the bridge falls on him and he's like...
Well, maybe the ooze mutated the dock. No, no,
no. It fell on him, it was a super dock. No,
he drank the mutagen. That's right, that's right,
that's right. actually I think there is a good
explanation for that because the mutagen in the
movie was more like the mutagen in the comic
as opposed to the mutagen in the cartoon which
was like whatever the last thing it touched would
happen and it would like become a hybrid of that
but the mutagen in the comic seemed to be more
like a hyper evolution thing so that actually
makes a bit more sense that Shredder would just
become like a superhuman not necessarily that
it would That changed his armor, but I guess
if... No, there's no reason it would change his
armor. Because he consumed it! Just stop. I can't
make sense of this movie. It's entirely unbelievable.
This movie about giant human -like turtles. Humanoid
turtles that happen to know ninja. I came to
really enjoy... the voice for Donatello in this
one, but at first it was kind of just jarring
to me that it wasn't Corey Feldman. But after
subsequent viewings, I did really enjoy it. I'm
glad that Robbie Wriste, who voiced Mikey in
all three films, did voice Mikey in all three
films. I thought that was great. Sketch, what
other thoughts do you have about the second movie?
Oh boy, this movie was really fun. Sadly, I did
not get to see it in theaters. experience that
awesomeness but I watched it many many times
on VHS and subsequently on DVD and it's a really
fun movie I like how even though they don't use
exactly the same suits they kind of cartoonified
the suit a little bit in the second one to make
it a bit more light -hearted I was kind of bummed
that the turtles didn't really use their weapons
so much in the second movie But there was still
some pretty good fight scenes, and it was just
really entered. It's really funny really I'll
take the ugly one. No, I'll do the one which
one That was that was a very good kind of Yeah,
I mean you know look looking back it There's
a lot of kind of funny moments in there that
really kind of remind me of what we're getting
right now with the 2012 series Yeah, it's kind
of you know funny. You know back and forth between
brothers Yeah Mikey on the right which right
you're right or my right What about you Paul
what what do you enjoy about this movie about
the second film? It's I mean you guys have pretty
much said it. I'm just gonna be echoing it It's
just a generally fun movie It's it's giving us
I mean, you know You watch the cut or you you
read the comic books and you got that kind of
feel in the first movie but for people who Because
honestly, you know the comics I only read, you
know for a little bit and then the show came
out and I was all over that so that took over
my You know dominance in my mind. I mean, that's
what I Think of even to this day when somebody
talks about ninja girls I think about the old
80s ones and I really get a kind of a fun kind
of feel with TMNT 2. I mean that's It just reminds
me more of the cartoon and I have a fun time
with it You know some of the boy scene it was
kind of weird, you know, the Donatello thing
really kind of put me off for a while I loved
seeing mutated villains come into it It wasn't
bebop and rocksteady, but to me it was like the
next best thing because They really were bebop
and rocksteady They were both other than the
fact that they really didn't talk or anything
but they were stupid like bebop and rocksteady
and It was it was just fun to kind of see it.
I I love the scene where they're running around
and smashing everything It's just it. It's just
fun Yeah, exactly. And that's what they're doing.
They're just out there having fun. It's great.
It's wonderful. You get more of the history.
You got the mutation, where it comes from, TCRI
or TGRI, whatever. I get them all confused. I
love the scene when April's interviewing the
doctor. I can't remember his name, but. Jordan
Perry, yeah. Interviewing the doctor. Then all
of a sudden, they cut and they go away. And there's
giant ass dandelions. that are byproducts of
them dumping this ooze. It's like, whoa, a giant
ass mutated flower. OK. I mean, it was just absolutely
fun and completely unrealistic. And that's what
made it fun. Exactly. What's really too bad is
there were several drafts for the second movie.
And one of the ones that was almost used is Professor
Perry was going to be revealed to be an ootrom,
but they figured that that would confuse the
kids with Krang Yeah, so yeah Probably a good
call, but if they really wanted to keep the movies
more to the mirage style There was some interesting
ideas that they had I think they're on Peter
Laird's blog, but ah man good good stuff there
But you know the movie we got was still entirely
entertaining Yeah. Again, that's one of the -
I could go downstairs right now and watch it.
And fuck, I actually might. Perhaps I might.
Steve, any final thoughts before we move on?
Uh, not really. Okay. God ninja, god ninja, go!
I made another funny! Ahahaha! Now, Sketch, you're
gonna have to remind me if this was out at the
same time, but I remember Turtles 4, Turtles
in Time, being out. when Turtles 3 came out in
theaters. I'm pretty sure they were. I think
they both came out in 93. Okay, because I remember
playing the Turtles in Time arcade version before
seeing the third film, and I wanted the third
film to be Turtles in Time. That's the biggest
problem. That was the biggest problem with Turtles
3. Right, exactly. And they kinda did that. Uh,
you know, you mentioned earlier about that in,
you know, in the second one, how they kind of,
you know, cartooned the costumes up a little
bit. The costumes in the, the costumes in the
third film suck. Well, Jim Henson didn't do these
ones. Yeah. You know, everybody's got freckles
and spots and considering they're not Jim Henson.
I mean, they're not absolutely terrible They're
serviceable, but right well, they're better than
next mutation. That's for sure Yeah, but and
it's just such a letdown compared to the others
this one. I can honestly tell you I Stopped watching
I got I Don't even maybe maybe halfway through
it You know, so 45 minutes or something like
that maybe 40 45 minutes And I literally turned
the movie off and to this day. I've not I've
not seen the entire movie It's it's just I was
like, this is the stupidest fucking concept.
I'm done with this crap If it was based off the
video game, I would have loved it because that
video game I mean, you know some of you kids
out there listening to this you might not know
that there were little hangouts were big, giant
video games. It was just one video game, kids.
One video game in a big machine. Okay, big. It's
called an arcade. Yeah, there you go. It was
called an arcade. You go there and there's a
bunch of them. Okay, okay. I literally spent
dollars and dollars playing that game. And when
this movie came out and was not anything like
that, I said, fuck you so what. So... All right,
the third film for me. It made my eyes bleed.
Watching it today as a 33 -year -old, I had to
take breaks when watching it. See? No, seriously.
I would watch the first 20 minutes of it, and
then I would watch 10 more minutes and 10 more.
I would take 10 -minute breaks and do other stuff
because there are a lot of really, really great
lines in it. It's not as quotable as the first
film. It's not as quotable as the second film,
but there are a few you know like one of my favorite
scenes from this one was um Mike he's trying
to cook pizza He's like yeah Frisbee also good
and he throws it and it hits the it hits the
blacksmith and then it bounces off with Donnie's
head and he's like it was Mike what's the thing
I I didn't do it and Again, I'm glad that Corey
Feldman came back as Donatello that was that
was great um i don't mind that they switched
up the voices for raf because raf to this point
in the film series he's moved beyond his anger
he's learned to you know control it a bit and
i don't mind that they changed the voice actor
for that um and and and again robbie wrist was
mickey as as usual um I don't like how they half
-assed it with Casey and essentially made Elias
Codeus play two roles. Well, they at least brought
him back though. Well, right. No, I'm not saying
I didn't like that they brought him back. He's
relegated to being a babysitter. Right. I hate
Splinter in this movie. Oh, yeah. Splinter sucks
in this. It's ridiculous. The voice was horrible.
The design was horrible. And he just hangs out
in that one room so that they don't have to do
much puppeteering. Pretty much, yeah. Pages in
this one though again like a freak He's like
it's like a low -grade puppet show. I Liked each
better in this one than I did in the second.
She's hot First 1993 standard sure It's Wow,
oh I'm rotten tomatoes. It's only got a 27 That
doesn't surprise me. What I'm curious Let me
let me let me look real quick. Let me look while
he's looking Steve. Did you have any thought
holy crap? Okay? Hold on this one only has a
44 Now they know these these are well hold on
let me let me go to the top critics. Okay, all
right top critics Give it a 57 the original Ninja
Turtle movie god. I thought it would have been
done better than that They're kind of the pr
they're snobs They are they are top they give
hundreds to is is animation They don't even have
a score for top critics for Turtles 3 It's just
it's just all critics and that's 27 but let me
let me see if I can find Turtles 2 is that one
that one I think people All I'll see the alright
that's uh top critics give that a 50 so top critics
give that gives turtles to a better than the
first turn Wow, that's so I like turtles too,
but that's so wrong Steve any thoughts on the
third film terrible. Don't want it Okay, then
it'll probably age you horribly watch somebody's
review of it instead Between that and a back
credit card, yeah, exactly. Holy crap on a stick.
What? Well, I'm skipping ahead to the TMNT 2007
movie. That's only got an 18%. What? Rotten Tomatoes
sucks. For the top critics, the audience, on
the other hand, has given it a 63%. But top critics,
I really like the TMNT. CGI movie the CGI movie
was pretty awesome I I had nip I have problems
with I mean it was one of those things where
it seemed like it was supposed to kind of sort
of tie in to the the cartoon series that was
going around at the time or the I don't know
because it's like it's I have no idea where it
comes from because you've got this daughter or
whatever of shredder running around and it's
like we beat the shredder I'm like You did? When?
Where? I didn't see that unless it's supposed
to be from the other movies. In the second movie.
Well, yeah. Well, that's the thing. They don't
really explain that they're still all tied in.
Right. Well, they kind of do at the end, because
you see all the stuff in the vault. But the 2007
CGI movie, TMNT, is meant to follow these three
films. It does have influences from all incarnations
of turtles to that point in 2007. I like the
story. I thought it was really interesting. I
find it weird that Captain Picard is a villain.
That was awesome. I hate Daphne from Scooby Doo
as April. I hate Sarah Michelle Gellar as April.
I don't buy that at all. She's hot. She can be
hot all she wants. You know, she can rub up against
Ryan Phillippe's thigh in Cruel Intentions, but
still... I just don't buy Sarah Michelle... I
don't buy Buffy the Vampire Slayer as April O
'Neil. I just don't buy that. Why don't you buy
Buffy the Vampire Slayer as April O 'Neil? I
just don't. He doesn't have a dollar. Shut up.
Overall, I enjoyed the movie. I thought it was
great. I liked how they continued the continuity
of essentially the... The brothers have essentially
scattered to the four winds. I love the fact
that donnie is resigned to being an it guy I
thought that was hilarious. I love i love mikey
dressing up as a turtle. Yeah, go out and be
a party entertainer I mean that that that ranks
up there with the ghostbusters dressing up as
the ghostbusters to go out there and do party
stuff Where's he man bring he man in here? Oh,
I thought I was gonna be he man Now, I love this.
It's got great CGI. It is an amazing story and
all that stuff. What about you, Sketch? What
do you like about the 07 CGI film? I like a lot
of things about it. I like the character interaction.
I'm bummed that Donatello and Mikey didn't get
more screen time because I think Donatello was
one of the most entertaining characters in that.
That one bit when he's doing the IT. He's like,
did you try plugging it in? Yeah, that would
help. So the kind of stuff that Donatello has
to deal with in his attitude towards it, I like
that kind of sarcasm. And I hope that they bring
out more of that in the new cartoon. And I feel
like they kind of are. But maybe not to a great
extent. Because Donatello has become really cynical
in the 2007 movie. And it really shows. And I
enjoy that about his character. Michelangelo's
just kind of silly, but he's always entertaining.
But this was all about Leonardo and Raphael's
conflict, and you finally get that epic battle.
I said epic again. There it is. That great battle
between the two of them and Raph's whole vigilante
thing. Yeah. Makes a lot of sense for his character.
Yeah. Raph as a metalhead Batman, nice. Yeah,
totally cool. I know the main plot of the movie
doesn't really grab me with the brotherhood and
all of that. I mean, I think it's good that they
didn't use the shredder again, but I would have
liked to have an actual Ninja Turtle villain
in there, like maybe Baxter with a horde of mounters
and a huge armor. To fight them or you know,
there's tons of characters and I thought I thought
you could have really brought in and done the
other rat king very nicely Oh, yeah, the ranking
could have been interesting. Yeah and creepy
very creepy Yeah, cuz that was that was a really
dark feeling Dark feeling movie even though I
was it was completely family -friendly, but it
had this edge to it that you didn't see since
the first Ninja Turtles movie. Right. So it was
nice to see that come back. And the animation
was just stunning. If you watch it on Blu -ray,
it looks even better than it did in theaters.
It's crazy the amount of detail that went into
it. I mean, it's no surprise why it took so long
to make it. Just really great. And the voice
cast is great. I would have liked it if they'd
used the 2003 actors, but the cast that they...
They had was really great. Yeah, and I loved
Patrick Stewart is the bad guy It's good. It's
good getting him as a bad guy. I mean he really
has a lot of Range with with his with his ability.
I mean, it's I mean his voice is the same no
matter what he does, but He's just such a good
actor that he can play anything and it's believable
exactly that the turtles weren't cast as like
big name celebrities because that probably would
have taken people out of the experience and I'm
sure that's what they were thinking though we
could argue they have now cast Hollywood folks
in the new series but that doesn't bother me
at all so maybe it wouldn't have bothered me
then and you would have been fine I would have
been fine because that movie overall was very
entertaining If for no other reason than that
fight between Raph and Leonardo, which is...
Oh, yeah. The fight was epic. It was epic. It
was. It was. That was an epic one. And it was
in the middle of the rain so that you could see
all that detail. Oh, it was so good. So good.
It was a cinematic experience. Yes. It was very
much a cinematic experience. And it's not a very
long movie, so people shouldn't... Really, it's
pretty sure avoiding watching it. You should
totally go out and watch it. It's not even yes,
not even it's 87 minutes Arguably possibly not
even sure yeah, not even an hour and a half So
go see it yes Steve what are your thoughts on
the o7 movie um I had seen it a couple years
ago. I actually have the Film four pack of the
first three films and then the TMNT 2007 I really
liked it. I The voice cast was kind of either
way on I'm not I don't really care either way,
but I thought the concept was neat Very very
awesome. So we're gonna take another ad break.
You're actually gonna hear some Trail Rific music
and we'll be back after this. We are back, and
briefly we're going to talk about turtles and
music. I mainly added this segment to that podcast
episode because of the soundtrack coming out
of their shells. Oh, Jesus. Oh. Why would you
eat? Oh. This is my favorite podcast. Ugh. What,
you're going to include turtle tunes, too? Oh,
Jesus. Hell no. Hell no. Coming out of their
shells was a CD that came out back in the day,
cassette and CD. It had its own tour. The tour
was just dumb. The music for the time wasn't
that bad, but it's not that great listening back
to it now. You ought to get your ass kicked for
even bringing this up. I got to agree with, and
I don't want to unnecessarily reference other
people's reviews of these things, but. What the
nostalgia critic in the game nerds said, that
it was like Christian rock. And I like Christian
rock, a lot of it. But it's so heavy handed like
some Christian rock that I have to agree with
what they said about that. Yeah. As far as other
music. Well, as far as other music with the turtles,
I mean, I count in here the 87. All the animated
series theme songs from the 87 of the 03 to the
current 2012 series, I'm still surprised that
the 87 background soundtrack music has not been
released to this day. It's a rights thing. Wrong
way. I know it's a rights thing. I mean, who
even owns the actual rights to that show? Because
I don't think Lionsgate does. I think they only
have the digital and DVD distribution for it.
I'm not sure. It's not Mirage and it's not Viacom
unless they bought it out from somebody. Viacom
kind of owns everything, I think. They're like...
Between that, they're like Disney. I was gonna
say, who's gonna buy out who first, Viacom or
Disney? That'll be interesting. You know, the
music from the films, I loved that. I love the
intro music. I love, you know, the songs that
are in both of the first two live -action films.
All that stuff Paul did you have anything you
want to say about the music of TMNT? I mean like
I said, I mean there were some songs that really
kind of stuck with me I sat there and tried to
write down and memorize the lyrics for Well a
couple of them I mean even even the ninja rap
when I tried listening to that and tried getting
that and that was just I Was not very fast, right?
Those lyrics are nonsensical. No, it's there.
It doesn't really it's just Turtle power is a
better rap It's just you know Cashing in on vanilla
ice at the time and yeah, I mean the music it
works it's I Even kind of dig the new 2012 intro
I like how it really kind it's it's modern, but
it kind of homages the the original series Works
for me. I like it Any thoughts on the music Steve
I Agree, I love the ninja rap, but um, I also
like all the different theme songs from all the
different animated series, but um, I Am not familiar
with that One that you talked about the live
concert whatever I think I put it on the server
at one point. I don't know And I about shot myself
in the face. So yeah You've definitely at least
heard pizza power Yeah That was using turtles
in time Yep You know overall I you know, I can't
wait to see what happens in the future for music
and turtles very very cool the sketch What about
you? What are your thoughts on turtles and music?
Okay. Well, he sounds very he sounds very enthusiastic
asking you that question Very enthusiastic. Yes,
I One one song that stuck out with me. It was
the the opening title music to the first movie
that done. I like that one Of course it has it
pales in comparison to the cartoon theme song
which is my jam Anytime that I have that on like
a CD or on MP3 or whatever, I just blast that
thing. I just love it. I love it. And I am currently
in the process of trying to maybe do a sort of
remix of the original theme with the new one
to kind of sink in the lyrics from the old one
along with the new one's lyrics. I don't know.
I'm nerdy, but sometimes I like to rap. So. Will
probably never do this but you know I could I
could do it on the fly at least Word which is
fine, but the soundtrack of the original tune
is just super great the all the battle music
even some of the Really all the music is great
the the quiet music the loud music. It's It's
just such a pity that we don't have that soundtrack
and the 2003 series I actually had some really
nice views at times, but a lot of it feels very
generic. Which is one of the downer points for
that series, I would say. I enjoyed Ninja Rap,
I enjoyed Turtle Power, and there was nothing
really Turtle specific about the third movie
soundtrack, but that's the only one I ever owned.
because I won a contest when I saw the third
movie in theaters. I did like a drawing and I
got that CD and I listed the crap out of that
CD like Tarzan Boy. That was a good, I think
it was probably my favorite song on there. Oh,
oh and the song that plays in the credit sequence
of the beginning of the movie. Yeah, yeah, that's
the only good thing about them Yeah, yeah good
stuff there, but some of my favorite music related
to Ninja Turtles happens to be in the video games
Oh, yeah, the entire Turtles in Time soundtrack
is awesome It also includes the greatest elevator
music ever The Super Nintendo one does anyway
that wasn't in the the arcade Alright, we are
going to talk about some plastic shells. Teenage
Mutant Ninja Turtle What do I do with them? DESTROY
THEM! What's going on here? It's the turtles
digging the old foot soldiers to boot with their
latest invention, the cheapskate. What gives
on a roll? And look, in the sky, it's a bird.
It's a jet. No, it's the turtle trooper parachute.
Sorry to drop in without calling. Bring in the
knuckleheads. Uh -oh, those attack and grab foot
machines look like real trouble for the green
guy. Whoa, can you move carried away? Teenage
Mutant Ninja Turtles. From Playmate. It looks
like bad news for April O 'Neil. Ooh, look at
this. The A -supporter don't have a trunk. Yeah,
but she's got a turtle. Look, it's the Turtle
Wills. That flip hot breath bums away. Guess
who's dropping by in the Turtle Trooper. Hey,
dudes, let's crash. Where are you going, pawn
head? Oh, no. Oh, yes, it's the cheapskate. Thanks,
guys. Hey, it was a pizza pie. Only from Krona.
Is this the end for Donatello? Ain't this turtle
breath. Got a pizza instead? Coming right up.
It's the turtle's murderized pizza thrower. Hey,
time for the party. Oh, no. We've often rocked
steady in the flying foot cruiser. Looks like
they've got an eye on our boys. Hey, these dudes
are a real pushover. Michelangelo to the rescue
in the party wagon. We'll show these hairballs
how to party. Only from Krona. Quagg! The master

we parked? From Playmate! Think of quietly! The

motorized firing action give Shredder and his
henchmen their just desserts! You clawed my gun
with anchovies! The Turtles and their portable
Pizza Thrower triumph again! Why are we so happy?
We just lost our lunch! From Playmates! So let's
talk about turtles the toy line For me, I remember
having all of the original turtles all of the
original villains All that stuff from the 80s
from 1988 to whenever the toy line ended. I remember
loving Like undercover dawn, I remember loving
some of the disguised turtles And then after
that, I pretty much got out of it until Playmates
this year released the classics collection. I
love the way those classic toys looks. So awesome.
Gotta get me some of those. Sketch, what is your
involvement with the toys? Man. Well, I got all
four Turtles over a process of time. And I'm
pretty sure I still have all of them. But later.
For my 18th birthday, my grandmother gave me
the full pack that was released, I think, on
the 10th anniversary. And that's still in the
package. So I'm probably going to sell that someday.
Yeah, I look back at those toys because I got
the 25th anniversary re -release of Leonardo
and Michelangelo. And I got Leonardo out of the
box. I was playing with it a bit. You know, these
are really good toys still. And there's so many
toys that have come out since then that are just
kind of crappy. But I really like the 2003 initial
Turtles toys. I got all four of those. And those
were really great. I mean, compared to what we
had before, they had nicer articulation, obviously.
But now I got Michelangelo and a Foot Ninja of
the newest series toys. The articulation on those
is, like, so much better. It's crazy. And there's
so many crappy kids' toys out now. It's nice
to see that the Ninja Turtles toys are still
pretty good and worth the money because they're
making people pay, like, seven bucks for an action
figure these days. And that just seems wrong
to me. No. Some are even more expensive than
that. Yeah. Like, obviously, the premium ones,
like the classic line that Playmates just put
out. Those deserve to be going for like $15.
But some of those other toys, I can't believe
what they're pricing those things at. And I mostly
got a lot of Turtles variants in the original
line, because I didn't like that many of the
bad guys. I think I had Metalhead and Genghis.
And those are the only bad guys I can remember
having. But my favorite toy by far was one of
the vehicles, the Pizza Thrower. Ho ho ho that
thing was rad Had that if I remember correctly
that sucker could chuck a little disc pizza pretty
darn far, too Yes, it could I mean, I mean it's
like just so fast Yeah, and don't they would
hurt if you shot them at somebody. Oh, yeah,
they were there I'm telling you that little spring
or anything that was up Shoot with siblings made
that much easier with the pizza thrower. Amen.
Oh the reasons why I liked it so much It really
sticks out to me as super cool. I didn't get
the party wagon until the 25th anniversary re
-release, but nah, man, pizza thrower all the
way. What about you, Steve? What's your involvement
with the toys? The toys? I had everything up
until the, let's say, the about 96 I had every
toy and then I switched over to Batman and eventually
Star Trek so I gave it all to my brother with
the exception of the Technodrone and I had like
Metalhead and I had the crying figure and pretty
much everything else I gave to my brother but
I had the Technodrone up until about two years
ago Same thing with Metalhead. The only thing
I have left is Krang, but I... I played the hell
out of all of the toys though. I had the sewer,
I had the van, the blimp, the... The drill thing,
the foot soldier drill. I had everything. It
was crazy. Man, you rich? No. Those those weren't
that they weren't that expensive back then no
if I remember they're like five or six bucks
I think Well, I like to know the vehicles way
more. Oh the vehicles Yeah, much more expensive
technodrome is the most expensive thing and I
had that for years, but yeah Yeah, that is probably
the most Probably the greatest of all Ninja Turtles
play sets was the technodrome. Yes, and and that
actually that large crane Not the little miniature
$8 one that they had, the huge one. You can't
get that sucker for less than 100 bucks on eBay.
You're going to pay out your ass for that thing.
Yeah. And I so wish I could get my hands on a
newer one or at least all the parts to repair
mine. Or replace elements of it. But yeah, that's
that's still my favorite turtles toy at the old
now come 2012 stuff. I there's quite a few things
I really want from it that I cannot afford yet.
And I want the 30th anniversary, you know, turtles
that are fully articulated. But yeah. Yeah. Hey,
maybe they'll make a crank. If they did, I'd
be all over it. That would be awesome. All right.
What about you, Paul? I've heard you say in the
past that the NECA comic versions are your favorite.
So where did you start with Treasure's toys?
I mean, obviously, as a kid, I had them all.
I never got into a lot of the variants. I mean,
it got kind of ridiculous after a while. Where
you know that they were dressed up as sports
players and yeah, I mean it just Got insane after
a while, you know, you want the star trek turtles.
Well, yeah, there's a star trek I mean at a certain
point a lot. Oh, yeah, I used to have those too
Yeah, they're they they will fetch you a pretty
penny. But I mean there there is a lot of great
figures From from original cast that I had It
was there was some stuff that I didn't have that
like my best friend had like he had the sewer
playset I never had the sewer, but I had the
technodrome That's one thing that I would love
to be able to get again for my collection And
it's it's just a matter of finding one that doesn't
make me say ouch when I look at the price of
It would have known that a couple years ago.
Yeah. Yeah Let me think what one of my One of
my favorite toys, it wasn't actually, it wasn't
branded right as a toy. It was like a foot, called
the foot cruiser or something, but it was the
hover car for the hot rotting teenagers from
Dimension X. It was theirs, it was their, I mean
that's the way it looked, but it was branded
as a foot soldier vehicle. I love that little
thing. I mean, that was, you know, I mean, you
had Back to the Future back then, and you had
Hover Cars and stuff, and I just thought that
was a cool thing. I loved it. Then after, you
know, I kind of got older, those toys kind of
went away, and it was a very sad time. But honestly,
it was the Turtles Forever movie, or whatever,
whatever you want to call it, that... Got me
kind of you know a lot of it. I'm like you know
and they came out when I was collecting toys
I'm like you know what I want to have a turtles
forever display, so I went out and I bought the
What I consider the 80s turtles what my favorite
turtles are the the mutating ones that can go
from oh, yeah Yeah, I love those that's what
I use in my as my classic turtles then I got
the 2003 main turtles or turtles themselves And
I bought the black and white issue of the Nekka
Turtles and those things blew me away. The amount
of articulation on those has not been seen up
until these new classic ones from Playmates that
we've gotten. And those new classic ones, for
me, they are the definitive versions of the 80s
cartoon turtles. They are the best ones that
you could possibly get. The NECA ones are the
best ones you can possibly get if you want a
comic book representation of them. I absolutely
love those. The new Turtles, the Turtles by themselves
I think are outstanding. You can see where Playmates
put all their their fundage into them and rightly
so. I mean you should have the Turtles be as
articulated as possible. The minor characters
the April O 'neils and the shredders and the
cranks like that. They don't have as much articulation
as the turtles do, but I'm glad that they at
least put that amount of articulation in the
turtles. That's key for me and I love them. I
remember when I first got those and I was reviewing
them, they were just so fun to just to kind of
look at. My only kind of gripe would be I wish
that the Donatello figure had the little gap
in his teeth because I think that's... Adorable
in the new 2012 Donnie. You got a big giant gap
in between his teeth I I love them. I I have
I still have them over here. I'm looking at him
right now nicely displayed I have Although I
got way too much crap. I got all for the CGI
movie turtles I got this I got those toys. I
like they're okay. They're okay. I'll give them
that Yeah, they're pretty big. They're pretty,
they're definitely bigger than what we got before.
I got the Sewer Play Set from, from the 2000,
is that the 2000? I don't know what. No, that's
the 2003 series Turtle Lair. I have the new 2012
Turtle Lair, and I love having them in my collection.
They're so freaking fun. Very awesome, very awesome.
Alright, so I think we're going to slime. I even
have slime. I bought slime. I like him fine We're
gonna get pixelated and we're gonna come back
and talk about the video games. We'll be back
after this We should have mentioned that playmates
is coming out with Lego Ninja Turtles. Oh, yeah,
we just did and now we're gonna move into the
video games. Oh No, but seriously before moving
to the video games, yeah those yeah the the Lego
TMNT stuff looks great Absolutely great, but
but the video games I remember playing the Changes
your initials are the the original arcade game.
I remember playing that I remember playing I
don't I think it was a claim it might have been
I don't remember I remember playing turtles two
handheld games I don't know if it was a claim
or tiger electronics or whoever I think yeah,
I think it was tiger. Yeah. Yeah, I remember
playing that I remember playing the NES version
of turtles and it was so damn hard The hardest
part of the game was the damn swimming part.
That damn damn level. That one still gets me.
I mean, one of the first games that I downloaded
on my Wii when I got it was the first Ninja Turtle
game. And I sat there and I played that. And
I mean, I got good at it as a kid. I could get
through that whole thing. There was there was
a system that I had in place You know like go
to this one go to this one go to this one switch
to a new character Go to this one go to this
one because you're gonna lose life. I mean there's
there's I don't care who you are You can't get
through that game without getting hit with one
of those little orange Fucking things whatever
they are or not orange, but pink little things,
but that game I could sit there and I could play
the hell out of that game. I love that game Yeah,
it was it was very cool In the original NES game
For me the only turtle I would ever play as is
Donatello because his bow could reach everywhere.
Oh, yeah Choosing anybody else was you you're
gonna die as soon as you well Leonardo was pretty
good But I mean the the worst for me was wrath
you you couldn't do anything with that dumbass
Yeah, he was the first one that got to die in
the damn level. Yeah past the NES version, past
the original arcade game, up to Turtles in Time.
After that, outside of I checked out Smash Up
a while, you know, a couple years ago. But those
are the four that I really played. I didn't really
play. I never played. I think I played Manhattan
Project once and I didn't care for it. But I
don't know. What about you, Sketch? What are
some of your favorite games for Turtles? Love
me some Ninja Turtles games. When it got to the
point that I had a job and I could spend money
on whatever I wanted, because I didn't have a
lot of bills to pay, I tracked down all those
old Ninja Turtles games. And Turtles in Time
is by far my favorite. I actually got that when
I was younger. My dad bought it for me, used
at a game store that was going out of business.
Nice. But, oh, man. I played the live -in crap
out of that game. I played it at least once a
year. I especially like to play it with my cousin,
two -player. Sure, it's not the four -player
experience, which is, honestly, the best thing.
The best thing. I have people say, well, you
could play six in X -Men. It's like, I don't
care. Ninja Turtles. The first time I played
Turtles in time, I didn't even know that game
existed. I was at a bowling alley with my cousin.
And we were like, oh, cool. They have a Ninja
Turtles game. It's like, hey, this isn't the
one that we've been playing before. And I think
we got the metal head. And then we died. But
it was like, oh, man, new Ninja Turtles game.
This is so great. And I have loved that game
ever since. And that is easily my favorite. But
I've come to really appreciate the Manhattan
Project, the last game on the NES, because it
is huge. It's like twice the size of Turtles
in Time. And honestly, Turtles in Time will take
you like 20 minutes to beat, which is fine because
you can sit down, beat it, feel satisfied because
you threw foot soldiers at the screen. Right.
But if you wanted a challenge or if you wanted
to play a longer Turtles game, Turtles 3 on the
AES Manhattan Project, it's fantastic. It's the
right amount of challenge. You have more moves
in your arsenal. Lots of great boss fights. You
get special attacks. It's a really good NES game.
So I highly recommend anybody who likes those
old Ninja Turtles beat them ups to track down
that game in particular. Because Turtles, well,
I guess they're both pretty hard to find now.
But obviously Turtles in Time is the king. Hyper
Stone Heist, also good. But Turtles in Time,
all the way, especially in the soundtrack department.
What about you, Steve? What is your exposure
to the video games? I've played various ones.
I don't exactly... I mean, I've played the Hyperstone
Heist. I've played a couple of the other... I
think I've played the Madden Project. I've not
played anything on the Game Boy. I liked Smash
Up. Pretty much those are, in my opinion, the
better... the better games out of all of the
other ones listed. Just because I have the most
familiarity with those is why I'm saying that.
So it's a little bit biased, but at the same
time, I like them for different reasons. Man,
I think I need to talk about the 2003 games because
nobody else will. If you want to, briefly, go
ahead. OK. Well, the first 2003 game was like
playing the cartoon, and that's great. But they
really messed up because it was it was in the
days of GameCube and Xbox and it wasn't for player
What is wrong with them? They fixed that in the
second in the third game, but in the second game
you shared a life bar. That is terrible I hate
these games still had their merits, but I I can
understand why a lot of people would get frustrated
with them But I thought that the third one in
particular was a very good game If you didn't
have four turtles, then you'd have computer -controlled
turtles, and they were so stupid. Like, you could
get them stuck behind walls and stuff, which
is kind of funny. But it was still a really fun
game. But all the Game Boy games were really
good. They were solid 2D brawlers. You had a
lot of moves. And the game base, the 2007 movie
in particular, was like... River City Ransom
combined with the Ninja Turtles games So you
can beef up your characters learn new moves It
was just criminal that it wasn't multiplayer
and they came out with a multiplayer one for
the DS called arcade attack and It basically
embodied all the things that I don't like about
some modern Ninja Turtles games Because it was
boring to play It was boring and monotonous,
and I think a lot of that comes down to the music.
But also, in some of those old games, you had
a certain amount of satisfaction when you hit
things, like there was a sort of weight to the
attack, especially in Turtles in Time. Not so
much in the original arcade game, but that's
kind of forgivable because the controls were
floaty. But in Turtles in Time, even though there
was no rumble feature or anything, you felt it
when you were smacking around a foot soldier.
In some of these more modern games, you don't
feel it, even though you have a rumble feature,
which is ridiculous. And I don't really hate
on the remake of Turtles in Time, because I still
think it was pretty fun to play. But that's one
of the things that had totally gotten wrong.
You had no satisfaction hitting those foot soldiers.
It was dull. And that's criminal in a Ninja Turtles
multiplayer game. But those games aren't all
bad, and people should give them a chance if
they have. the systems that played him right
we all know paul is not a gamer at all but do
you have any experience or knowledge with the
games have you ever played any of the games well
i i mean i i played i obviously i obviously played
the original ninja turtle game uh even even back
on the original nes uh i i do remember playing
the arcade games uh loved loved Let me think.
Did I love those games? I think I did love those
games. I think I did. Yeah, I'm pretty sure I
did. You know, Turtles in Time loved it. It was
absolutely a joy to play it. I actually kind
of enjoyed playing the 2007 TMNT game. It...
Was okay all the only because for me it still
looked it looked like the movie and I Still saw
a good level of detailing that that CGI. I thought
still came through fairly. It was very easy It
was a good single -player experience. Yeah, it
was it was ridiculously an easy game, but When
it comes to it you you It's so hard for me to
actually enjoy these games because they it should
be a multiplayer game every single game for Ninja
Turtles Should be a multiplayer game. It's built
for that. Yeah, I mean you you They're the Ninja
Turtles. It's not Ninja Turtle and then that's
what you go out there and do I mean I like I
like the old NES one how you could switch Turtles
it was kind of like all of them were there with
you at whenever but all these games it was it
just screams for a cooperative kind of gameplay
and Most of them fall short of that kind of expectation,
but I mean I mean for the most part those were
those were it I mean, I I enjoyed the old NES
kind of games and arcade games, that's That's
when I enjoyed playing games. I don't enjoy playing
video games much now no Because you're an old
phony all right We're gonna head to a commercial

to talk to you about some of my memories about
the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I became a
fan, I'm hard to pin down when. I think I remember
watching the cartoon and then seeing the movie,
or maybe it was the movie that led me into the
cartoon. But regardless, I've been a fan since
probably about 1988, 89, give or take. My Christmases
were filled with many upon many Ninja Turtles.
I specifically remember getting the original
Four, Shredder, and a Foot Soldier, and April,
and eventually expanded to get Splinter, Ace
Duck, and many, many, many others, although I
didn't get my original Turtle Van until I treated
some X -Men toys for it to one of my neighbors,
although I never did own the Technodrome, which
is unfortunate because that thing was freaking
cool, but my neighbor had it, so whenever we
played Ninja Turtles, epic battles, were sure
to be had. I followed the cartoon through its
time on the CBS Saturday morning block before
they eventually axed that. And then I kind of
fell out of Nid Turtles for quite some time,
though I did have a passing interest in the 2003
series where they brought them back and then
flashed them forward and everything. And it wasn't
until probably about 2009 I found out about the
Power Rangers Turtles crossover. Well, that was
something. Although I've recently become... full
circle again with the fandom. As part of my work
with Twig, I did get a chance to talk to Carl
Aronian, the Playmates Toys Chief Turtle Officer,
and that's definitely revived a lot of my feelings
for this franchise. I actually do want to go
back and get the graphic novels from the Turtles
to see how they were different from the television
show. I understand one of them gets their arms
ripped off and there's like murder mysteries
and everything else, so it sounds really cool.
I'm really interested to see where this franchise
go. As for the new cartoon, they've done a fantastic
job. There's no way around it. Honestly, I hope
the Turtles are around again for a really long
time. I'm really glad that Michael Bay reboot
never got off the ground, so hopefully it will
be in the hands of someone definitely more capable.
I gotta say, I'm glad the heroes on half shell
are back, because believe me, we need heroes
that don't suck. The crucial piece of evidence
we were looking for? The clue which will lead
us to the heart of the evil ninja empire? Not
even better! It's a place where we can get some
pizza! Right on! Okay, I'll head up there and
check it out. No, no, April. It's too dangerous.
You wouldn't last five minutes in a ninja pizza
parlor. I love saying lines like that. We'd better
go with you, April. That's right. Besides...
we're hungry we are back here on get cast radio
episode 40 heroes and a half show TMNT franchise
before we give for all of us give our final thoughts
on the franchise and before we close with the
show we have to go back to movies because um
very interesting developments one that i found
out is not true while i was doing research for
an interview um I found out that a certain voice
actor that we've talked to in the past will be
in Ninja Turtles, the 2014 Michael Bay produced
film. According to IMDB Pro, in production, pre
-production has currently begun, the supposed
release date of the Ninja Turtles is May 16th,
2014. Release date has been pushed to TBD 2014
now at this point. uh let's see here four voices
according to imdb pro sean astin as rafael oh
no greg sipes as michael angelo oh no jason marsden
as donatello oh now this is not true i i said
to jason when i was doing research for an upcoming
interview that i'm doing with him i Messaged
him. I messaged Sean Aston and I messaged Greg
Sipes on Twitter and I said hey is This true
and Jason replied to me Jason replied to me Let's
see. He said all true except for me So Sean Aston
and Greg Sipes who are currently voicing Raph
and Mikey in the 2012 series Will be voicing
those characters in the 2014 film I replied to
him and I said, damn, that sucks. And he goes,
you're telling me. So I'm not sure who they're
going to get for Donnie and Leo, because it doesn't
list Leo at all. But according to IMDB Pro, it's
coming in 2014 for the new Turtles movie. It
seems almost inevitable Biggs will be Leonardo.
Unless he gets in trouble with Viacom again.
Well, he should stop pies then. Yeah. Stop sending
nasty things about people on Twitter. Yeah, that's
ridiculous You on what you say on Twitter these
days. Yeah Everything if if Jason Biggs mouse
off to Michael Bay, he won't get the job and
he'll be denounced from acting forever Yeah,
don't don't piss off Michael Bay. That's right
Sketch final thoughts on TMNT franchise. Oh man
TMNT is such my franchise. I've loved it since
I was a kid. I still love it. I'm hoping to pass
it on to potential children someday. And with
how many times it keeps getting rebooted, that's
certainly possible. And, oh man, it's great because
I feel like each of the turtles represent a little
part of my personality at this point. Yeah, you
know, I'm a multi -faceted person. Interesting.
But back when it, who can't love Ninja Turtles?
I mean, there's something for everybody in that
franchise. Exactly. And regardless what people
thought, you didn't need to throw in an additional
female character. You had April, and that was
perfect. And you had Irene. Yes. Paul, final
thoughts briefly on the TMNT franchise. I totally
have to agree with Sketch. If it's not Transformers
for me, it's Ninja Turtles. And it's really hard
for me to pick a favorite between the two. I
honestly don't know if I could. It's like trying
to break up the kids. Well, yeah, it's like trying
to pick between two of your children. I cannot
do it. It was a It's a fantastic series. I think
I touched on it earlier that I don't think there's
another 80s franchise out there that has the
same kind of staying power as the Ninja Turtles
and Transformers. Others have tried and others
have failed. And I think it says the longevity
of Ninja Turtles that they're able to still be
successful no matter what generation. you target
it towards. So successful. Each one got at least
100 episodes. Exactly. It's nutty. Steve, final
thoughts on the TMNT franchise? Oh, I definitely
agree with you guys. There's definitely something
for everybody. But overall, there's a ton of
just great content between all the different
Sagas of the the franchise. I mean there's If
you're a fan of the toys of the comics the video
games or the just the cartoons I mean, that's
there's so much great content in there that Can't
help but like whatever you're stumbling upon
Yeah, the same thing for me, I mean it's it's
so awesome that, you know, you have all of these
different incarnations from the comics to the
first animated series to, you know, the second
and third animated series to the movies. All
that stuff. So, so amazing. Such awesome stuff.
Absolutely love Turtles. Sketch, why don't you
tell the people where they can find you online
and your other geeky stuff that you do. Okay.
Well, you're definitely gonna find me on Twitter
at sketch1984. See, what have I done lately?
I'm working on throwing together a Ninja Turtles
podcast with my buddy, the real Don East. And
I am sitting on five episodes currently, because
I haven't had time to edit. I'm too busy. As
much as I like working with you, I don't think
I can listen to that show, because that guy doesn't
like anything. That's not true. He likes lots
of things, just not all the things you do. But
yeah, you probably can't stand to listen to that
show. Maybe. I don't know. I still do reviews
and such. I'm supposed to start doing blog editorials
for ToonamiFaithful .com, because another facet
of my fandom is most definitely the Toonami block.
And now that that has come back to television.
I'm just all up on Yeah That's I'd say that's
about it What about you Paul where can people
find you in your ego? Well, if you if you choose

This is serious, so give me a quarter. I was
a witness, get me a reporter. Call April O 'Neil.
And on this case, hey, you better hurry up. There's
no time to waste. We need help. Light quick on

in trouble. We need heroes like the Lone Ranger.

to put these crooks in jail. She spied the bad

it, she fell in a trap and got caught. Yes, she
was all alone with no friends and no phone. Now
this was beyond her worst dreams, because she
was cornered by some wayward teens. Headed by
Shredder, they were anything but good. Misguided,
unloved, they called them the Foot. They could
terrorize and be angry youth, and they mugged
the people who needed proof. Then from out of
the dark came an awesome sound. Shouted cowabunga
as they hit the ground. From the field of weeds,
the heroes rescued the flower, because they possessed
