Introduction to Phineas and Ferb Series

It's going and we are actually doing a podcast

review series that has nothing to do with transformers

folks. No way Thought I only did transformers

podcasts Told me that was a transformer involved

here. No that was never said So for those of

you wondering what the hell is Pauka well Pauka

is we are the podcast organization without a

cool acronym And yes, I know there's a little

a in there, but it's a little a so it's silent

We don't count it as a letter in the in the name.

It'd be pronounced a walker No. Rhymes with kalawaka.

For a second there, I thought you were going

This is the brand new Phineas and Ferb review

podcast here on the GeekCast Radio Network. I've

been planning this show, folks, for the better

part, about six months. I've been dragging my

feet. I'm sorry. No, no, no. It's not that. No,

no, no. Well, over the years, because this is

2016, next year, 2017 will actually be 10 years

since Phineas and Ferb debuted on the Disney

Channel. So I think it was after we did the...

across the second dimension episode in twenty

eleven where i'm like okay let's let's figure

out how we can do if it isn't for a podcast and

do it like we normally do all the other review

podcast whatever else we weren't sure how long

the show is gonna run and blah blah blah well

now we know the show had four full seasons uh...

it had multiple various specials in a marvel

special star wars special cuz Between the time

that Disney premiered Phineas and Ferb and the

time that the show ended, Disney, you know, in

Mickey's infinite wisdom went ahead and bought

a comic book company and then they, you know,

George Lucas sold his soul to the mouse. Am sorry

that man has no right to complain about anything

to do with Star Wars Anymore for future for current

and future films because he sold his shit He

is um foreign four point eight million dollars

richer was it or was it something like that something

like that I'm sorry billion. I'm a billion to

the be Yes after taxes who knows what the hell

that adds up to uh so anyway uh and yes this

will be an explicit podcast even though we are

really we even though we are show show things

are gonna come out you know i'm not saying that

you know f bombs are gonna be dropped all the

time or anything like that ferb i know what the

fuck we're gonna do today I am so cutting that

out, I'm making it part of the show. So, okay,

F -bombs in the traditional sense, is what Michael

just said, may not be dropped, but, you know,

we might drop a fur bomb every now and then,

so who knows? Well, it's one way to... If you're

gonna work anything into the dialogue, it has

to be in a British accent. So, that's all I'm

saying. I can't do a British accent. I can barely

do an Irish accent. I can't do a Ferb either.

I'm sorry. Yeah, no. So, ladies and gentlemen,

for 2016, the summer of 2016, Phineas and Ferb

lied to us. Did they not? Is it because of leap

year? Probably we could blame leap year five

days until summer vacation No, it's only 93 days

of summer vacation. It runs from june june 20th

june 20th to september 22nd september 22nd is

the fall Atomic leak went on the cox whatever

the hell what I thought it was like year -round

schooling or something Every school in this country

needs to have year -round school. But anyway,

well they do in Chicago. So Well, that's that's

good. Yeah, it's a couple weeks off in October

a couple weeks off. Yes Yeah, yeah considering

they don't let Trump in The Trump we're gonna

do today Oh boy So I wanted to do some research

before we started because I wanted to make sure

That there were actually 104 days of summer this

year. There are not it runs the the the summer

solstice runs from June 20th 2016 to September

22nd 2016 September 22nd is the first day of

fall And that's the autumnal equinox or whatever

it's called. I don't know, they, they, whatever.

So. Thank you, Neil deGrasse Tyson. Yeah, but

no, oh, please I knew all about the summer and

winter solstice and the autumnal and I forget

what the spring The the spring first day of spring

is called But I knew all that crap 30 years ago

before Neil deGrasse Tyson was ever a thing so

don't know I learned that I learned that stuff

from Bill Nye the science guy. Bill Nye, 30 years

ago. Get it? Check. Well, I forgot how old Bill

Nye was. Something like that. So anyway, this

is going to be our Phineas and Ferb podcast I

haven't told Steve Megatron about this but episode

1 to episode 104 I I'm going to try because we're

gonna actually pre -record a lot of these episodes

I'm hoping we can pre -record enough to where

we can eventually just do 104 days of summer

But I don't think Steve will let me do that If

we make it a daily podcast and we're 10 episodes

ahead of what's currently being released, then...

If we kept it short and sweet, maybe. Well, yeah,

okay, that's the other thing. Most of the episodes

where we are going to be reviewing the cartoons,

there's not going to like... Episode 1, we're

just going to do the first cartoon which features

a roller coaster and Candice loses her head.

So it's essentially one... One cartoon show episode

for one podcast This isn't like oh stop. Oh,

don't even start complaining cuz seven years

ago you could oh my god There's five episodes

of G. We have to talk about these five episodes

and one podcast don't don't even start complaining

the other way half hours of footage to cover

and and And each episode ran like an hour and

a half because I'm so damn long -winded Yes,

yeah, I can't help it I want to talk about it

in the tiniest minutiae. So basically, I just

I just mapped this. I mapped the show out earlier

before we started this episode one, which will

be the first one of the episodes. Episode one

to twenty six will be the entirety of season

one of Phineas and Ferb. Episode twenty seven

to sixty two will be season two. Episode 63 to

86 will be season 3 this also features across

the second dimension, which will actually be

episode 68 and then episode 87 is 103 to Episode

episode 87 to 103 is season 4 and then episode

104 will be the grand finale. Oh boy So yeah,

that's that's that's the layout of the podcast.

once we get some episodes recorded. We are here

to talk about Phineas and Ferb in general. When

did you first find this show? Oh, heck. We're

talking about this now? No. I was about to say,

all right, good night, everybody. But when my

kids were small, Right and there are seven and

nine now, but when they were much smaller we

had the Disney Channel on all the time and we

just we watched way too much Disney Channel and

and for the most part, you know all day it was

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Fittiness and Ferb

in the middle and then toward the end of the

day We didn't bother changing the channel. We

just left it on and we'd end up watching like

Hannah Montana the sweet life of Bill and Cody.

I mean, just whoever. I don't care about these

folks, you know. But the deal is, now Hannah

Montana, that's different, man. Oh, okay, don't

even go. Oh my God. See, that's why this show

is tagged explicit, folks. It's not because of

the cursing, it's because of the innuendo. The

innuendo. No, innuendo. so yeah yeah you know

well what it come down to is we had disney channel

on all the time and and in in that in you know

some of it's like oh god if i have to you know

do oh toodles one more time i'm just gonna slip

my own wrist uh and then you've got phineas and

ferb which is like okay i can sit down and get

into this um and we watched all the phineas and

ferb And you know, they're going to rerun it

over and over and over again because that's what

Disney Channel does. And I think I've seen each

episode about 50 times. Same here. Well, I want

to say, you know, first couple of years. And

like you said, it's been many years since then,

right? Nine years since it premiered in 2007.

Yeah. And the fact is, somewhere around there,

my kids grew up a little more and we graduated

to Cartoon Network and SpongeBob. That's actually

Nickelodeon, but okay. I wish we still had that

audio recorded when he first picked that up.

Oh man, if I was recorded, that would have been

the funniest thing ever. When we did our interview

with Tom Kenny. When he first picked up the Skype

call, he basically answered as an angry Spongebob.

Why are you calling me? Why are you calling me?

Why are you killing me? Oh, I wish I was recording

that. That's so funny. I'm still just not a fan

of Spongebob. I watch it because the kids watch

it, but it's kind of like the sweet life of Bill

and Cody. I just don't like it. Zach and Cody.

Bill, Zach, whatever. I don't care. Let it come

down to is Yeah, anyway, so we started watching

Cartoon Network more and less Disney Channel

and over the years and I completely missed out

on the last season of Phineas and Ferb and I

think we we watched the specials But the last

few, you know last season or so I don't think

I don't think I've seen him yet. I've seen a

couple of them because You know, we're still

watching Disney Channel occasionally, and it

pops up. But I don't think we've... I haven't

been subjected to it in the same way that I have

the first season. Well, now it's all on... All

four seasons are on Netflix, along with Across

the Second Dimension, so... Yeah. You know, we

can... We're obviously going to be watching a

lot of it, and you'll be able to see a lot of

the stuff that you haven't seen, at least for

season four. for me I think I found it through

you because I think I was watching I also watched

everybody watches Cartoon Network whether they

want to admit it or not they do it at some point

or another at some point or another and I had

found Johnny Test okay yeah and I know I know

a lot of people kind of vary on their opinion

on on on Johnny Test and that's Johnny Test twin

geeky sisters Yeah, uh -huh. In you and don't.

But, well, yeah, but, okay, it's a... No, no,

no, no. If you look on the internet, you will

find it. No, no, no, no, no, no. Mr. TP, no,

and I don't mean toilet paper, folks. He knows

what I'm talking about, but no. Yeah, TP, Starfire,

don't even start with me. Don't even start with

me. Okay, so I found Johnny Test, alright. And

one of the reasons why I like Johnny Test is

because Cheetor is the dad. Ian James Corlett

is the voice of Q -Test. I did not know that.

One of the reasons why I absolutely loved Johnny

Test. And Johnny Test was... That's why I love

Dinosaur Train. Huh? Oh, yeah, he was the conductor.

He was all the board. Yeah That's dinosaur train.

I swear to god I could sing that theme song in

my sleep Okay, please don't Yeah, so I was watching

Johnny test and and somehow I think it was you

it was probably you or I somehow I stumbled upon

Phineas and Ferb and I started watching it and

uh... i think our good friends uh... lizzie b

she uh... at night max's mom on twitter she uh...

she and max her son max were watching it's and

uh... can i got me into it and kind of got me

to the whole face infer phenomenon really uh...

even though i didn't end up buying any of the

toys although i had your wife by you want to

have it on my desk it's right here uh... so Yeah,

I mean I remember okay, so but Like I said folks

back 2007 2008 This was before Disney started

on Disney Channel proper started doing their

Disney replay I don't know and this is like you

wouldn't know this because you're probably dead

asleep by this time usually between 1 and 4 a

.m They would have a block of repeat of their

shows or whatever it is. I think it was as of

2013 or 2014, they started doing this thing.

I could be wrong on that. It might have been

2012. I could be wrong. But a few years ago,

they started doing this thing called Disney Replay,

where each night they took a classic episode

from one of their shows that doesn't like Sonny

with a chance or Hannah Montana was on there.

Sweet Life of Zach and Cody, Sweet Life on Deck.

The only thing they never showed, they showed

Lizzie McGuire, the only thing they never showed

was they never showed episodes of the famous

Jet Jackson. But anyway, before that happened,

before the Disney replay stuff happened, they

would show most mornings from two to four a .m.,

essentially four hours of Phineas and Ferb back

to back. Man, my insomnia was like, hey, I don't

need to sleep. I can watch Phineas and Ferb all

night long. This is amazing. I don't need sleep.

Sleep is, you know, I'll sleep when I'm dead.

Sleep is for the weak and timid. I'm going to

watch Phineas and Ferb. That's right. So I was

able to get caught up and watch a majority of

the episodes. Through that format of Disney Channel

and then eventually, you know Netflix came around

and I eventually got a subscription to that and

it showed up on that season by season slowly

and slowly and slowly and October I think it's

I know it was December 9th of last year decided

I remember this because our good buddy that was

on the Across the second dimension episode with

us Ryan Meade he He messaged me and said, oh,

hey, guess what? Phineas and Ferb season four

are coming to Netflix December 9th. I'm like,

oh, okay, good, yay. So, yeah, December, basically

for Christmas, what I was doing was I was making

this schedule for the podcast because I had already

made up until the third season because I had,

because we're going to review these in the order

that they're on Netflix. So I had already had

all that and what I love about Phineas and Ferb

is it's got a little bit of everything for everybody.

It's kind of like an every person show. It's

not just a kid's cartoon. Right. There's so much,

you know. There's a lot there. There's a lot

of homages to older stuff. There's a lot of humor

that might go over the heads of kids. Especially

with Dr. Doofenshmirtz. Especially with Dr. D.

There's a little bit for everybody there. And

there's great, you know, there's so many great

homages and I mean these are these are kids who

are essentially super geniuses like Wile E. Coyote

used to be. Although they don't have to chase

a roadrunner, thank God. You know, and they do

all this crazy, cool stuff all summer long. You

know, there's an episode where they get their

dad's old black and white makeup out and paint

everything like an old black and white detective

movie. And there's an episode about, you know,

one -hit wonders. There's... Like their mom.

Yeah. Good ol' Lindana. She just wanted to have

fun. Just wanted to go to the mall. Yeah. Um,

some of the times that they went to the Googleplex

mall, that was hilarious. Oh man. Um, but what

I love about the show is that, as I said, there's

something for everybody, even some of the stuff

that Phineas and Ferb are doing, because it's

beyond just normal kids playing. It is normal

kids and they are playing, but it's not just,

oh, Hey, we're just going to sit here in our

fort. You know and and talk and hang out. No,

no, no, they you know, basically built, you know

topping our Our Ford is our homage the classic

of Fords and then the thing, you know basically

reaches up to the moon and there's like 20 let

20 different levels and there's a water slide

circling There's one episode where they built

a water slide over in because the fur Mr. Fletcher's

parents live over in England So there's an episode

where they built a water slide around Big Ben.

I mean these kids Yes, they are, you know playing

during the summertime, but it's not I've never

had adventures like this as a kid. I mean, come

on. This would be amazing And it's gonna be fun

looking at some of these episodes and seeing

how How the characters eventually grow because

I really don't cuz the running gag is It's it's

summer. It's always summer. It's never even though

in the in the theme song it says 104 days of

summer Nearly ten years of cart eight years of

cartoons or whatever it was, you know, there's

no way that's the same summer for that I mean

so who's to say that it doesn't oh no actually

they never age It's like the Simpsons they never

age But there is one episode in season four called

act your age where they do advanced show ten

years mmm, so That's something you can look forward

to because that's that's it. That's a character

development episode for everybody So that's pretty

cool. They also had, like I mentioned before,

they had the first big animated movie, Phineas

and Ferb Across the Second Dimension. We talked

about that they had the two specials, they had

the Mission Marvel and the Phineas and Ferb Star

Wars. And they've had other multi -part episodes

and hour -long specials, like they had Somewhere

Belongs to You, they had... Christmas vacation,

they had Hawaiian vacation, they had a whole

bunch of vacations without Chevy Chase. Nobody

expects the Griswold. There's no holiday road.

Yeah. Yeah, no, no. There doesn't need to be

a holiday road. Not everything has to be a Mad

Max homage. Holiday road. There's no Mad Max

on holiday road. I didn't realize it was a real

thing. I thought you were making a reference

to Mad Max Fury Road. You've never actually seen

National Olympics vacation, have you? We have

30 seconds. You'll never get back exactly. I

know right So this is gonna be a lot of fun yes

As I said, we're going to pre -produce a lot

of the episodes and then release them like we'll

we may record a block of ten episodes or so at

a time and then we'll slowly release them unless

I can talk to Steve and Somehow one a day for

104 days. Four days. I don't think that's going

to fly with him, but... It's ambitious. Hey,

we here at the GCRA push the boundaries of podcasting.

We're pushing the podcasting limits here. What

would be funny now is if we were to, you know,

take all the footage that we record and then

slowly process it over the course of another

year. And then next summer, release someone a

day for 104 days. Don't give me any ideas. Sloth

-tastic. Please, no. I love what I'm seeing out

of Zootopia, but I want to just kill that. I

gotta take the kids to see that next weekend,

I think. You mean you haven't taken them to see

it yet? Well, they haven't seen that. They never

got to see Minions 2. They haven't seen the Good

Dinosaur. It's like I'm remiss as a father, basically.

You know, but on the other hand, I just got Aiden

Half -Life 2, so he has other interests. Oh,

okay then. All right. Buying your children mature

video games at nine years old. Do you think Half

-Life 2 is mature? It's a 20 year old video game.

I mean how bad could it be? It's not doom Serious

Sam, you know, I mean it's half -life. Come on

I Let's see here What is the I don't even know

what okay. So like I said folks 104 episodes.

I don't know how it it's going to to pan out

as of this moment but um... who knows, like i

said it's going to be a blast we're going to

have so much fun i mean we've had so much fun

in this little introduction It's gonna be something

new and different for the both of us. You know,

you guys have heard all, you know, both our voices

on TFG -1, on Based on Leash, and Transformation

Animation podcast. We're finally stepping away

from the Transformers for a little while to do

something... So sick of Transformers. Oh my god.

Something that the GCRN has never done. What

what I think you guys have stepped away from

the TF for a while there Well, yeah, we've got

pogs and I did do the gem show and all that but

I'm saying like something with you that has never

watch Power Rangers nowadays and you got your

blood and gore and intense violence That's not

true, but yeah, that's my story sick that's pretty

much all it says for this Specific game. It's

blood and gore and intense violence if I actually

I don't remember being that bad. Like, I don't

know, because I mean, I won't let him play Borderlands.

is very mature, you know? You know, he wanted

to play Fallout. And I'm like, yeah, buddy I

mean there's a there's a you know, there's specifically

there's a perk you can get called bloody pulp

So you can cuss at people and and turn them in

the red mist and slime As you shoot at them with

your rocket launcher So I was like, I don't know

buddy, but you know, I don't remember half -life

2 being that bad Maybe because it you've aged

in the game is age. Maybe it isn't maybe you

know, honestly, I introduced him to portal And

he played portal. He just beat portal 2 and he's

like, so tell me about black Mesa and it's alright

Sure, you know black Mesa's blah blah blah and

I told him, you know, you don't want to play

the original half -life because oh my god is

that dated that's like Just a step up from do

it's like it's like Wolfenstein 3d or something

like that. Yes. Oh boy is it dated and they want

to charge 20 bucks for it on steam and I'm Do

not pay 20 bucks for doom 2 right? But you know

half -life 2 is I play that 10 what 15 if I say

how long have I known you it was before I met

you I played it Yeah, so that's at least at least

10. It's getting there. Yeah, so it was a long

time ago In fact, I thought I had it on disk

somewhere. So I was trying to dig it out. I couldn't

find it But yeah, this is back when they sold

this. If you still had it on disc, then yeah,

it's at least 10 years old. It's old. Yeah. So

yeah, I thought, well, you know, it couldn't

hurt. Let him play it and see what he thinks.

Because it is one of the best games. I don't

know. It's one of the highest rated games of

all time. Yeah. So yeah. To bring this back around

to Phineas and Ferb, I think that's the coolest

thing about. Finneas? No, that's all right. I

think that's the coolest thing about Finneas

and Ferb is that these are kids that go out and

do stuff. They don't just sit at home. And even

when they, you know, there's an episode where

it's raining and they eventually have to have

an adventure inside. And it's the episode where

they do the hide and seek thing and they get

real tiny and they end up shrink. It's essentially,

honey, I shrunk the kids kind of homage, but.

You know, so they do that kind of stuff and but

it's not just them going out and playing Traditional

baseball basketball football hockey. It's not

you know, it's not just them going out riding

bikes. It's not just you know, I mean It's it's

gonna be a blast and I think that's one of the

reasons why it I really think the show Should

be educational for a lot of people certain episodes

of it because of the whole aspect of Getting

the children outside and playing versus just

sticking in front of TV all day. So you just

lost half the audience educational I'm out This

is audio people come on now now if I was on camera

the audience would have been gone a half hour

ago We lost half of them at the mention of Neil

deGrasse Tyson. They're like, I'm out. It's like,

mm -hmm. Yeah, but we should have got like 75

% back when I mentioned Bill Nye the Science

Guy. Well, you know, one never knows. I mean,

it's either that or Beakman's World perhaps.

Oh, I love Beakman. I had a thing for his little

Italian assistant. OK, on that note. Podcast

without a cool act podcast organization without

a cool acronym I'm not sure if we're doing a

hundred and four days of summer folks We might

if I can talk see Megatron into it if not We

may end up doing one podcast a week for the next

two years That's generally how how podcasts that,

you know, that a review shows that I do up. It's

generally how that goes. You don't want to know

how the sausage is made, alright? You don't want

to peek behind that curtain. Oh lord. Okay, um...

Yeah, I... What? I just think there ought to

be some dead silence here because I don't think

even Ferb knows how to respond to that. What?

I'm serious, I mean, you know, there's a certain

amount of behind -the -scenes action there that

is just really boring and tedious, and I, you

know, I would wish that on Steve Megatron. Oh

wait, yeah. I mean, that's what the episode zero

is for, is to kind of introduce people to us

and our personalities, and they've got... almost

35 40 minutes of that now so they pretty much

know what to expect except they don't what the

hell we're gonna say about every episode gonna

be this long for god's sake are you kidding oh

my god is everything i'm just i'm just in the

head of the audience at this point yeah sure

you are The show will as I said earlier will

be on blog talk radio will be on iTunes all that

stuff. It'll be on Feed burner and all that once

we get it going folks We hope you will join us

on this journey into the land of Phineas and

Ferb. Yeah, that's that's pretty much all there
