About this Episode

Steve and Mike dive into DC's Zero Month event from September 2012, examining the #0 issues of five Batman-related titles. They cover Batman, Red Hood and the Outlaws, Teen Titans (Tim Drake/Red Robin), Batgirl, and Nightwing, discussing the origins and character development across each story, the memorable cover designs, and how well each issue holds up.

Hi, this is Kevin Conroy, and you're listening

to the Geek Cats Radio Network. Welcome to...

The Pole Bag. With the rotating panel of the

GCRN crew So sit back and enjoy this week's whole

bag That all really happened think so then we

want everything's back to normal That's a nasty

cut John You don't remember going on a mission

with us today, do you? I just got here. The timelines

restored to equilibrium. We're the only two people

who remember what happened. That complicates

things. Hello and welcome to The Pole Bag. This

is yet again another episode that is a .5, 59

.5 to be exact, and this time we're gonna go

Backwards in time and talk about the bat books

zero. Yep. That's right. We're gonna pull a DC

and and Do the zero episodes a year into the

show Yay, I am of course your host tfgmike and

your name is Steve Megatron. Hello. Hello. Hello.

Hello How are you doing very well? That's good.

That's good. Yes, that's right We've got the

bat books 29 coming up in episode 60 and I needed

something for 59 .5 and I figured oh, hey, why

not actually read the real origins versus that

other stuff Now some of these do Most of these

actually all of them with the exception of Batman

are their own Individual one -shot kind of origin

stories to launch each character into the new

52 Batman's story is the only one that kind of

screws his timeline up as per usual We're gonna

be covering tonight teen Titans Red Hood in the

Outlaws, Batgirl, Nightwing, and Batman number

zero. What was your initial impression? Were

you on board with the New 52 when it first started?

Were you reading Batman back then? What was the

deal? Surprisingly, before the New 52 kicked

up, I started getting interested in Batman again.

In doing so, I started reading around the time

that Batman would just killed off. And then they

were in the process of bringing him back. And

then I heard the rumblings of a complete reboot.

And I was like, well, if they're going to completely

reboot it. I got to buy the first issues of some

of these different comic lines of Batman, which

I did. And in reading the issue ones, it actually

enticed me to read them. Not only did I love

the art a lot more, but I also figured, OK, it's

not going to be convoluted because it's a whole

new thing. Well, they've busted the convoluted

thing. Suffice it to say I haven't really been

Too disappointed with it Besides the having to

go back and tell a backstory. That's pretty much

gonna be the same as the previous continuity

And having I mean basically the new 52 is the

old 52 with some slight alterations, but a lot

of the same plot lines are resurfacing. And then

they just don't have their timelines together.

So that being said, I like the new 52 other than

that, but that's about how I started hearing

about it. The zero issues were another story

altogether. Well, here's my thing. Was like because

I didn't know anything about the first anniversary

and what they're gonna do obviously I knew about

the second anniversary last year where they did

villains month But I didn't know what they I

heard rumblings, but I didn't know what they

did with the the first anniversary which was

the zero month and I Before I even heard about

that I was getting really mad buying trades when

like Batgirl volume one has numbers one through

seven Well, where's issue zero? Why isn't that

like here? And then it shows up in the second

volume issues 12 to 8 or 8 to 12 and number zero

I Don't like this half -assed backward stuff

that DC is doing and I'm not saying that it's

half -assed with the content of the books I'm

saying like You will never Ever. Any podcast

I ever do, you will never hear us do a zero episode

a year into a show's run. That's just ridiculous.

Like, an introduction episode a year in. Oh my

god. But anyway, we are here to talk about the

characters I mentioned previously. We're gonna

take a quick break, you're gonna hear some audio,

we'll come back and have the discussion. After

this... Welcome to Gotham. Like the man says

give till it hurts And another loser bites the

dust Hey, that's two Here, kid. I think you lost

this. I coulda handled him. Coulda, woulda, didn't.

You sound just like Batman. I'm nothing like

him. Yeah, right. The mask, the attitude, the

long underwear. Drop it! I'd love to know what

happened between you two. Things change. No,

kidding. You guys used to be the greatest. Batman

and Robin, the dynamic duo. Maybe you should

ask him. I did. And you'll never guess what he

said. Things change. It was building for a long

time. I realize that now. It was never really

right. I mean, this isn't exactly a normal childhood.

So how'd you do Batman's voice? Precise muscle

control. Plus, I have a pretty good ear. Don't

do that again. Oh my god. Master Bruce, I...

Miss Gordon, I heard you've discovered our little

secret. Yes, I admit it. I am Batman. My brain's

not a nice place to be. Very good then, Mr. McGinnis.

Welcome to my world. first up tonight we're going

to go to the legend of the dark knight himself

batman batman number zero you've got scott snider

on writing also james tinney in the fourth he

does the backup story greg capolo and andy clark

on pencils with andy clark and jonathan glapion

on inks now it's funny about jonathan glapion

because he is the current and he has been i believe

the anchor on batgirl for the longest time I

love his inks. I love his colors. I love what

he does with his stuff. And this is the cover

obviously is done by Capelo. Let's talk about

these covers because these covers were something

really special that they did for this. This was

they did basically the characters breaking through

the comic. Like, I don't think I've ever seen

covers like this. I don't think I can recall

seeing them at least in the recent times anyway.

They may have done it in the past, but I can't

think of any specific moment. Because certain

versions of these covers is basically everything

else. You can still see the title of the books,

but... the entire background is whited out with

each of the five characters basically breaking

through the cover. So you've got Tim Drake, Jason

Todd, Dick Grayson, Bruce Wayne, and Barbara

Gordon all in there, bat suits and nightwing

suits and red hood suits and Robin suits and

whatever else, basically breaking through them.

absolutely love I love these covers I wish DC

would do more like this I really dig these covers

these breakthrough covers all right so we're

gonna start with like I said Batman the Batman

story I don't know why I just can't I just can't

get into this I don't know what it is. I will

say that I, you know, I did get this on Comixology

because I kind of had to since I've called my

comic shop like four times in the past year and

a half and they never have a physical copy of

this book. So I went ahead and got it through

Comixology and what I've really been liking about

Comixology is their guided view, which it basically

takes you panel by panel and it basically draws

your eye where it's, you know, where they want

you to have it go. And this story is basically

the Red Hood gang out to show Gotham who's boss

and basically robbing the Gotham bank and Red

Hood 5 is not who he says he is or he's not who

he's supposed to be. We find out that it's, I

know it isn't Matches Malone, but it kind of

looks a little bit like a young Matches Malone

disguise. find out that it is uh... it is bruce

wayne that is infiltrated the red hood gang he

hasn't thought about every detail every single

detail whatsoever because the red hood gang actually

poison the cake that all of the patrons eight

for this grand opening of the bank the night

before so everybody's already dead and Red hood

one or the red hood leader the guy in the the

really shiny hood Are we saying do we know definitively

that's Joker I Don't know if that's specifically

him right away Mm -hmm. Um, it may be the original

red hood leader before Joker took over Okay,

cuz every time I read this red hood one. He just

Don't know what it is. It just sounds like no

have you have you? heard or the story of Arkham

Origins The game yeah No, not all the way through

Okay Well essentially the black mask mm -hmm

was replaced before the events of Arkham Origins

by the Joker. And it's another origin story game,

but it's essentially he's running Black Mask's

operation and they don't know that the original

is being locked up somewhere. So it takes Batman

a while to figure out that it's not who he actually

is. So I'm thinking it's the same incident here

with the Red Hood gang. I'm thinking whoever

the original Red Hood leader was may not have

been Joker. See, I don't know because that's

a complaint I'm going to have at the end of the

story when we get to the end of it because it's...

basically because they did the zero month as

the first anniversary September 2011 of the new

52 or September 20 yeah 20 at 2011 it just seems

like it's just something wrong with this story

because it says the end of it continued in 2013

and what I assume by that they mean zero year

Like this is Bruce before it's obviously before

he gets the bat He's he's on his way there and

there are connections between this and no one's

films where Snyder in his story basically says

they're not at Wayne Manor anymore they're at

some penthouse and There's this whole plot line

where he has a timed boomerang in the air, but

not boomerang batarang I should say same damn

difference but then Commissioner Gordon shows

up and you know all this and all that and everything

else and I I don't know this is just isn't This

isn't the the zero issue I was expecting for

Batman like he doesn't even put on the suit All

Yeah, I mean I I understand why he's not doing

it um I I just I don't I don't like the entire

premise of Batman zero year Yeah the rest of

the characters I kind of get having the the origins

because People may have lost some of the direction

of it, but everybody pretty much knows Batman

and honestly I really don't care I mean it's

this up the issue was kind of lackluster anyway

Compared to The other ones we're gonna cover

later I will say what was really interesting

to me is the backup story in this because it

kind of features all of the The bat family without

them being the best like it's it kind of zero

years them zero months themselves you've got

Nightwing Batgirl all this stuff and It's a really

interesting look to see All the different characters

like that. I thought that was pretty cool. But

yeah, no Batman. I love the art and issue zero

I really do the story again like you don't see

like Batman at all and that's just kind of yeah

I don't know up next we're gonna talk about Red

Hood and the Outlaws number zero this one was

interesting to me because while at this point

in the pullbags lifespan I have yet to read death

a death in the family which is where Jason dies

I know that story Well, you know, I know I've

seen the movie Batman under the Red Hood, but

you know I know the basic genesis of Jason's

origin and It's what's really interesting to

me is the monologue in this for him. That's what

really drug what what got me into this That was

awesome. Mm -hmm the first page is basically

his mom giving birth and all I can think of is

the mother screaming and Batman returns when

the penguin is born that's all I can think of

when the mother here is saying get it out already

the art is absolutely amazing really love it

I love how they use All of the black and red

like the schoolgirls and the in the scale like

all the uniforms are red So they're basically

telling us without really telling us that Hey,

look, this is a story about the red hood And

it's a pretty disturbing story oh I agree it

is I Mean the fact that this kid Head to being

prenatal care for the longest time and his parents

are just completely You know It just I mean he

makes it sound so oh It wasn't that bad, but

still it was I mean his mom She I assume commits

suicide, right? That's what I'm kind of gathering

that yeah because he says it fell to me to keep

an eye on my mom and apparently she uh... she

did commit suicide and it just this Jason Todd

has always been one of those characters that

you know he has Disturbing past and we then see

him as as a young adult and he's sleeping on

the street and waking up in hospital beds and

He's had a rough life. Yeah, he really has and

he runs into Batman and His life still is still

rough, but it's not as rough as it was because

basically Batman takes him in and Basically shows

him the ropes and the costume and everything

else and I love the line when he says uh where

is it where he says uh I'm trying to see where

it says uh about the about the costume yeah I

was the second kid to wear the costume but I

was determined to live up to the legacy to get

it right Absolutely love the Robin design. I

love the Robin design on him That's that's a

wonderful unique design and the whole again the

red on I don't think I've ever seen Robin have

green shoes and red with red soles Well, not

only that but the the face mask Yeah, it's like

a blood red. Oh, yeah It's basically telling

you what's gonna come next I will say on the

panel where he says the punching and the kicking

came naturally, Batman looks completely off in

the art. It's a weird little angle, but it's

just a minor gripe. But no, the story, I absolutely

love it where he's... I should have ignored the

photo that came in over the screen that night.

uh barring that I should have told him the moment

it happened and it's uh but it was my mom Katherine

still alive oh that's interesting so he basically

goes to reunite with her and then I believe that's

when the Joker comes in well I kind of found

it interesting that the Joker's like oh you think

the story started out like this And he's like,

oh no, it was all orchestrated by me. Yeah. What

do you think of that Batmobile thing? I could

take it or leave it. I like this better than

what they did in Zero Year. I will agree to that.

I love he is as sick as this is gonna sound that

Explosion when the bomb went off looks the effects

on it the art the colors everything looks amazing

And then we have the funeral of Jason Todd and

then we have the rebirth And the ending is basically

that's my story and I'm sticking to it the backup

in this is It's so funny because they bake his

red hood and the Joker. They're they're tied

together He says who ha ha if you thought that

story was exciting me I found it a little depressing

then you're gonna be thrilled by the epic and

classic tale I simply had to call the man who

created red hood it's all about the Joker and

it's a really really interesting tale I really

dug the Red Hood tale it's it's interesting it's

it's nice for me as a new reader kind of yeah

even though I've been into comics for two years

now It's nice to see these kind of origin stories

with them and and yes the zero issue for reddit

is an origin story for Jason Todd and that's

great You know, you don't necessarily have to

have read the old continuity I Really loved it.

What about you? I I really liked it. I mean I

could have used a little bit more Information,

but I think that what they had pages for I think

they covered it pretty well Yeah, and I've always

been kind of interested in the the Jason Todd

Story because my first introduction was with

him was a flashback scene of the Joker pummeling

him In Or beating him with a bat with nails in

it in Detective Comics Right back in the day

during nightfall. It was a flashback and Tim

Drake is the current Robin in that but anyways,

so that that was the only knowledge I had of

Jason Todd up until The Red Hood film Yeah And

then moving on to Teen Titans number zero now,

let me just say folks I'm only reading this because

it's Tim Drake and because it's him as Red Robin

Generally, I'm not a fan of the Teen Titans more

specifically the cartoon franchise version of

the characters But as long as it's Tim Drake,

I'll go along for the ride And I love this story,

this is an amazing story It's Batman narrating

and he's basically telling us how different Tim

is from Jason and Dick The art is very well done

He also has a father that actually no, it's it's

the opposite He has parents that love him and

hold him in a higher regard than Jason's family

did His his parents Tim's parents are more like

Hey, you know, we we believe in you and all the

world and you know, we we want the best for you

and It's absolutely interesting and Tim He's

actively been trying to find out who Batman is

and I absolutely love that I Thought that was

great because you forgot this old guy I Know

you want to celebrate, but I'm working on a project

maybe this weekend and the old guy that was getting

into the car was actually Bruce. And he's got

the... Tim walks right by his car with the fake

mask and he's got the cowl. It's just amazing.

Yeah, I know. I thought that was kind of an inventive

way for him to get away. Yep. Absolutely love

it. Again, the art in this issue is so amazing.

Might actually start getting the trades of this

if this is if it's gonna be Tim Drake centric

I don't know if it is for the most part But I

might get the first couple of trades because

I really love this story. You know like I said,

it's basically Tim's Journey to find out who

Batman is and he pretty much does figure it out

which leads him to The Gotham Aviary and of course

as soon as I saw the Gotham Aviary. Well, you

know who the villains gonna be Yep It's the penguin

And Batman basically tells him hey look stop

trying to find out my secret now, that's a Batmobile

I like That's a combination of the 89 and the

forever Batmobile And yay, we're actually in

Wayne Manor, that's awesome So Tim basically

in order to prove himself to Batman he basically

steals Basically steals a bunch of money from

these mobsters and they come after him and his

family and his family have to get relocated and

Batman's like do you see the danger now and Again

the art is amazing and like I said if the story

is gonna be this well done I So want to get on

board with this character. I wish Red Robin had

his own sir. I know Teen Titans is his series,

but I really do wish he had his own book that

was his own adventures Or if he would team up

with Batgirl and Nightwing a little bit more

Yeah, I think it's more so because he's as close

to Batman as any of them are Yeah, so it's it's

kind of one of those things Yeah And I love how

he basically where Jason wanted to Basically

live up to the legacy of Robin and he tweaked

the costume a little bit but the fact that Tim

wants to basically be called red Robin versus

actually just Robin and his costume It's all

red and black and with some yellow outlines.

There's no green in it whatsoever absolutely

loved it. I thought this issue was great. The

story was very well told and I was surprised

that it was Batman doing the narrating. I didn't

think it was going to be that at all. But it

really does help you to understand how many and

how different all three of the Robins are. Oh

yeah. What are your thoughts on Teen Titans number

zero? Not bad overall. I really like the fact

that they're getting more into Tim's encounters

with Batman and actually figuring everything

out and fleshing out his character more so to

his version of Robin. Yep. I really enjoyed that.

I thought that was great. Like I said, I'm hoping

that Teen Titans is more like that. Moving on

to Batgirl number zero. I actually have this

one in print, but I also have it digitally as

well. And it's basically Barbara telling us the

story of her life. You know, she's the commissioner's

daughter and she's trying to live up to that

and right away... what I find so interesting

about this issue is right away we know James

jr. even as young as he is here he he's not a

good kid whatsoever he's just a little off a

little more than a little off but I love love

the art in this and I love how she sees basically

what is a painted it's a metallic armor but it's

got a painted on bat symbol on it I know that

was so cool and I was like yeah she is so stealing

that armor later that's what I thought when I

first saw that I was like it's the prototype

bad girl armor Yeah, pretty much, but it really

really works well There's there's a line in here

somewhere that I absolutely left at here First

of all, I love that the criminal calls her red

because usually I see you know somebody calling

Not bad girl, but the the Marvel Universe redhead

red. It's Rob Paulson is hydro man calling Mary

Jane red. So I thought that was pretty interesting

here. There's a There's a line in here somewhere

where Gail Simone, I believe it's in one of bad

girls I believe it's one of in one of Barbara's

monologues where she said this guy's from Canada

They all really suck there, don't they? And I'm

not kidding, it is in here. I'm paraphrasing,

but I really did get a laugh out of that. Where

is that line? And she's basically defending her

brother, her psycho brother, and this villain.

This guy who was supposed to be a bad guy is

just saying, you know your brother's a psycho,

right? The villain is basically warning her to

be wary of her brother. Again, the art is simply

amazing. I love the dialogue. I really do, it's

really weird seeing her in traditional Batman

garb but who's hiding dirt bag line actually

really works and I think that's great with how

she is I love how she does go on to create her

own costume eventually now this was a number

of years ago This is five years ago that the

story takes place This basically takes place

within the old continuity and it kind of ends

with Well, she does meet up with Batman he's

like you did this and she's like kind of So that's

yeah. Yeah. Good job. That was an awesome line

and again We have the the full page where she's

in her gray and blue and yellow and black Basically

fighting alongside Batman and that is dick, right?

I Believe that's I think so. Yeah, that's Dick

Grayson It's absolutely awesome again the art

the story all very very well done and then we

flash to her um she's back home her monologue

is but that's the thing the terrible truth knock

knock knock sometimes the darkness finds you

That was the creek cuz this is the story Gail

Simone is basically saying this was five years

Before the Joker shot her it's the Oracle it's

five years before she became Oracle and What

is so interesting about Batgirl zero even though

they did it in you know backwards Issue one her

suiting up again because she's been in physical

therapy for X number of amount of time and Getting

her strength back up and she can actually walk

again So what I love about the Batgirl ongoing

specifically this zero issue into issue one of

the series is how Simone writes this and then

writes issue one where you don't I'm not saying

people shouldn't read The Killing Joke, you should,

but people don't necessarily have to. You know,

everybody knows Barbara Gordon got shot by the

Joker. Yeah. Everybody knows that. I mean, it's

common knowledge, you know, so, but absolutely

love it. You know, once again, Gail Simone writing

Batgirl. Cannot get enough of it. She continues

to impress me as a I wrote in my most recent

review of Batgirl 28 Just when I think Simone

has done Everything that she can do with the

character. She basically pulls the rug right

out from under me and changes my mind It's like

oh my god is so good Alright so the final issue

for The zero month that we're going to be covering

is, of course, Nightwing. And this is pretty

much an adventure with him and his buddy Raymond.

This story takes place a few years ago, it says.

And Dick Grayson and Raymond are basically running

through the streets of Gotham and doing all kinds

of accurate well. Dick is doing all kinds of

acrobatics and because he is an acrobat and they're

jumping off rooftops and Everything else the

the name of the story is perpetual motion. I

Love the art the art is amazing I believe it's

yeah, Eddie barrows on pencils the character

designs absolutely awesome so yeah they're basically

running through through Gotham and Dick has to

save this guy from the train and his parents

kind of scold him and again what I love most

about some of these characters certain well okay

sure James Gordon and Barbara Gordon the mother

not the daughter yeah you know you see You see

you we've seen their relationship It's very rare

for me that I see Dick or Bruce's parents if

at all like if flashback whatever else, but this

actually has John and Mary Grayson in it just

as the This is the zero month issue back in 2011

the zero year tie -in Issue 25 also had John

and Mary and you know the story here is you know

what we get to Basically Tony does threaten Threaten

Haley and John and Mary do die which is a very

very sad thing and we see that Grayson is kind

of uh kind of lost and Bruce takes him in um

and I love this uh I love the the sidelines for

Bruce on this on this page where he says I'm

so sorry Dick I love how it has like tension

headache teeth grinding eyes twitching I love

how it has that descriptiveness to it. Absolutely

thought that was interesting. And you have Dick

looking for the guy who's killed his parents.

You have him searching for Tony Zuko and you

have him basically seeing Batman and... Seeing

the action and he he wants to get in on in in

on it and he does as himself I mean, he's not

even in a robin suit yet And once again, you

know, you have Bruce noticing the stuff that's

going on Actually, this stuff is going on with

Bruce where he says it again, yes, it's basically

it's It's it's autumn on apia pretty much. It's

you know attention headache eyes twitching teeth

grinding and He believes that Grayson knows that

he's bad man Yeah Absolutely, you know love this

this story this origin for dick it's so great.

It's basically him versus Batman at one point

and then Batman takes him to the cave and he's

not he's not the jovial Robin that that Tim would

be because when Batman took Tim into the cave

he was like oh yeah it's party time but this

isn't like that this is pretty dark and it's

interesting how they're they're going on the

training and And and all that You know he wants

in on the action, but Batman won't let him and

then he eventually takes matters into his own

hands Yep, pretty much And then we get the Kyle,

you dog, oh my god. He uses this line all the

time. Even though this is the new 52, this is

how I can tell that Kyle's version of Dick Grayson

Robin slash Nightwing is actually the Dick Grayson

Robin, Nightwing, the old Dick in Batman Beyond

because even in this... Kyle uses the line, things

always change. And that was the first line at

the end of Batman Beyond 2 .0 Chapter 1 that

you see where old Nightwing says, things change.

Wow, it all ties together. Is it like a circle?

Yes. Looking like a man. Yeah. Sorry, not much

of a bad guy. I'm more of a Robin. I absolutely

love that line. That is a great line You know

and he does want to have his own his own identity

You know and he does say that I never told Alfred

that in that moment We were on the same page,

and it didn't take any forward looking to recognize

it Where he says Robin would be anything but

permanent and that was fine after all things

always change and then you have You have this

full -on splat not really a splash page, but

this full -on page where they're Batman and Robin

are standing there by the Batmobile What I assume

is the Batmobile and he's looking up into the

sky and you'll see You see an image of him as

the new 52 night wagon It's again. It's an amazing

amazing story. I absolutely loved if I was gonna

rank these these five it would be Nightwing Batgirl

and Teen Titans number zero taking the top spots

Red Hood and the Outlaws is a close for a fourth

and I did really enjoy it. I'm sorry Batman Just

was not what I was expecting for a zero issue

No, I kind of agree with you there. I I Really

found his to be lackluster and I hate saying

that like I really do it bothers me I do too.

Yeah, it bothers me that I'm so pessimistic at

this point with Batman but It seems like it's

just it's a constant argument with it. I mean

You know, I mean it's it's it's like they can't

seem to I Don't know. I don't really know how

to word it but it's it's He's a lot of his stories

just been lackluster Yeah, I don't know if it's

because they're convoluted and there's so many

different storylines going on. I don't know if

it's because There's Again, there's there's so

many different things with Batman and all of

the different stories and comics But it's it's

I know a lot of it for me is just the zero year

Yeah Yeah, I'm in the same way like that's why

I said when we did the 28 issues back in episode

58 of the podcast, I am really looking forward

to Batman Eternal and seeing what five years

into the DC Universe future New 52 does and seeing

those stories versus seeing an origin story for

Zero Year. You know, Batman Eternal has me way

more excited than the current state of what's

going on with Snyder and Capelo's stuff. Now,

as I've said in the past, maybe once or twice

in zero year I've had an issue with Capelo's

art and the coloring and stuff like that, but

the main problem I have with Batman is the stories.

Like, Court of Owls? Great. Absolutely amazing.

It was a story. I had never read before story.

I had never heard about before It's not something

I heard about at all previously Death of the

family. I figured okay He's gonna do something

with the Joker and Joker's coming back and his

face was ripped off and blah blah blah and Okay,

I get it. I get the symbolism of it, but I don't

really like it cuz You think for the obvious

reader? you know, for the everyday mainstream

reader, you're gonna want the Joker to kill Damian

Wayne. Really, come on now. Other than that,

these zero issues, like I said, Nightwing, Batgirl,

and Teen Titans is really the tops for me. The

other Red Hood and the Outlaws was really good.

It was an interesting insight. And then Batman

just kind of falls short. Yep. Yep. All right.

That's going to do it for us here inside the

pullback. Join us next time when Steve and I

will be back talking about the final thrilling

issue of the Bat Books after issue... Actually,

no, it's not the final. It's the second to last.

Now that I think about it, second to last time,

we'll be talking about the Bat Books in the current

incarnation. After the number 30 issues come

out, we're going to move to story arcs with these

comics. And go from there, so you are? Steve
