About this Episode

TFG1Mike and Steve Megatron continue Robyn Hood month by diving into volume two of the Zenescope Entertainment series. They discuss the four stories collected here: the two-part "Windows to the Soul" arc introducing the Church of Many Eyes, the two-part "The Plague" storyline that escalates the cabal's threat, a Comic-Con issue where Marion and Robin navigate New York Comic-Con, and "A Tale of Rot" which reveals the Rotter's tragic origin. The hosts praise new artist Roberta Ingrenada's work and Pat Shan's evolving storytelling, which now features stronger character development and higher stakes than the first volume.

Hi, this is Pat Shan, writer of Robin Hood, and

you have jumped inside the pull bag. Welcome

to The Pull Bag. Join us as we dig out our latest

comics and discuss them with a rotating panel

of the GCRN crew. So sit back and enjoy this

week's Hello and welcome to The Pull Bag. This

is episode 142, continuing our Robin Hood spotlight

here inside The Pull Bag. I'm, of course, TFC

on mic. Joining me is Steve Megatron. Hello.

Hello. And we're going to talk about Robin Hood,

volume two, The Ongoing Monsters in the Dark

is the trade title. The interesting thing here

is we have two two -part stories. a kind of a

one -shot and then we have two kind of one -shot

stories they all tie together but we got windows

to the soul parts one and two the plague parts

one and two and then robin and marian go to comic

-con and then after that we got a tale of rot

so we start off as always with the previously

on thing we get a little cast page um This arc

continues with the cabal we actually get to learn

more about the cabal. What were you thinking

in the first part of? Windows of the soul part

one where we actually got to learn about the

two guys that kind of lead the cabal in their

origin story Creepy yeah Very very creepy I I

dig it. I think it's interesting. I think it's

fun. some cool things with this obviously Pat

Shan is on writing as always but we have the

debut of new artist of the series Roberta Ingrenada

now how do you feel her art is compared to Larry

Watts's art in The Last Trade it's different

it's got more of a shading effect for for some

of the lighting. I mean, it's not bad. I don't

dislike it. I actually like how it's organized

a little bit better in some regards. It's more

of a realistic look to some degree or more of

a cartoon. Yeah, it feels... Some of Larry's

work, and I love Larry's, Larry wants his art,

his work, but some of Larry's work at times feels

more like a matte painting where this feels like

it's, at certain points it feels like it's glossy.

Especially in the scenes with the Allens here,

the father and the son. and we get one of the

cool things for me here is how Pat opens up this

trade to any new readers which if you're a new

reader to the series folks go back and read the

first volume but the way he opens this and you

know giving us another introduction to Robin

with you know how her magic eye is concealed

how you know the The eye lens basically lets

her see through the bow, so I absolutely love

that. I love how she walks us through how she

shoots, because there's a lot of comics that,

especially superhero comics, that sometimes if

a new person gets powers, and obviously we've

known about Robin's powers for a while now, but

sometimes when new superheroes get their powers,

they will kind of overlook that. the quote -unquote

training to keep the skills up to be able to

use the powers so we get Robin stopping a purse

mugging and as always Robin's you know sarcastic

wit I accept both gratitude and tips strong preference

on the ladder absolutely love that uh... so part

of this story and pretty much the the full on

for the first two -parter here for windows the

soul uh... you know the church of many eyes we

get this woman coming into the coming into notingham

investigation saying that you know my boyfriend

has been kidnapped by these people and everything

else we want to find out what's going on with

them and robin meets up with the rotter now what

do you think of this scene here with the rotter

the new character here that's just weird i like

him i think he's kind of fun um So basically

we kind of get the the beginning parts of the

rotter's tale and and he wants you know to be

able to see if Marion can help him save his save

himself and Cure him of being always alive. He

wants to be dead, but he's been cursed So I like

that that introduction there and I like the scene

at the end with with the bartender Last time

I'm going to tell you, Robin, you can't come

in to harass my customers whenever you feel like

I'm losing business here. Jesus, Phil, I'm on

the phone. I absolutely love that. And so we

see the other side of the conversation with Marion,

and she is at her first roller derby practice.

And that is. Interesting to see that with her

and Sam. I love seeing the two of them together.

I think that's really fun So we see that and

we see the You know, we see Marion and Sam and

Marion Marion's like I think we should go on

a date What was that was that English, you know

So I like that Again, Roburter's art is fantastic.

You had mentioned last episode about how certain

points in the first volume made you think of

Van Helsing a few times. Well, Lisa Van Helsing

makes her debut here, kind of. So we get her

giving Robyn some special arrows. and robin is

going to go look into the church of many eyes

and she infiltrates that um... which strange

strange cult of the church of many eyes because

they are resurrecting a monster with many eyes

yes it looks like a steroided version of rocksteady

with many many eyes it looks like something i'd

see on mighty max Yeah, yeah. And we go back

to Sam and Marion on their date. And we get Marion's

life in Myst, and she tells Sam about that. What

do you think of Marion and Sam? Because I just

love them as two characters who were gonna date

Not really sure okay So part of their story here

is Avella who was the witch that kind of trained

Marion she's back Which that's that's kind of

interesting to see And we get more of the church

with many eyes and Robin finds the boyfriend

and she goes to Stop this thing and she's like

a freaking chorus. They're rich kids worshiping

a monster for money. Yep Which is very much how

the original story kind of started Yeah, pretty

much Hadn't thought of that. I hadn't thought

all the way back to the original original The

original volume one trade of the original series

way to go that there you go And this one ends

with Robin's image stuck in the monsters many

eyes this first part I like it. I think it's

interesting. It's giving us a new adventure with

Robin. At the same time, it's giving us a night

out on the town with Marion and Sam. With part

two here, we go back to the Realm of Mist 13

months ago and we see that Avella is training

Marion and that is something interesting to see.

how Avella is going to essentially try to manipulate

her and we go back to present day where Avella

basically attacks people She's going to attack

Marion and Sam and Sam Marion, you know kind

of puts her arm up against Sam and you know look

out and We have a really cool image, and this

is why I love Roberta's art We have this really

cool silhouetted image of Avella and that that

character image is awesome We go back to Robin

And she's having a little bit of a hard time

fighting this thing because the lens has cracked.

So now she has to use muscle memory for her war

against this monster. What are you thinking so

far up to this point? Exactly what she says on

the page. Oh, shit. Yep. She's in for it now.

Yep. We go back to Avella and all the little

people riding in broken toys. She blasts up against

the, blast the car up against the wall of the

building. Sam's like, Marion, do you know her?

Please, Sam, just keep running. And then, of

course, there's the battle down there with the

many eyes guy. Yep. I like this battle. I think

this is fun. I like how she basically chokes

the main rich kid out. You're going to want to

stop talking now. Conserve air, speak lay. Yes.

So Marion tells Sam about Avella and She basically

sends Sam down into the subway and she has a

confrontation with Avella And we go back to Robin

and the battle and the battle ends up going fairly

well For Robin obviously sadly not so for marrying

because she gets thrown into a car by a velo

which is not good and this is where one of the

one of my favorite lines comes in you know she

tells the guy here here's what I need you to

know i'm going to do a thing you'll know what

the thing is when you see it then i'm going to

run fast you're going to keep up yes ma 'am and

oh and one more thing yeah never ma 'am someone

under 70 right before that she uh She texts Officer

Gingrich, come to the abandoned warehouse 35th

and 8th, bring fire department, lots of guns,

and please don't arrest me again. What did you

do this time, Locksley? Nothing yet. I absolutely

love that. As the story progresses, we get more

information on Robin's arrows that Van Helsing

gave her, that Leela Van Helsing gave her. We

get a little thing with her therapist because

she's going back to thinking what he said. We

get Marion and Avella, and she's trying to help

Avella, but that doesn't really work because

Avella's not going to listen. And the taxi cab

comes in and basically runs over Avella. We get

Robin hitting dead center between the eyes for

the monster so nailed it the monster is dead

Turns out the rotter was the one in the taxi

cab Run ma 'am run El kaboom el kaboom el kabong

yes We get a confrontation between Gingrich and

Loxley So We get that we get kind of the end

of the story here with with the girlfriend getting

her boyfriend back We get Marion thanking the

Rotter we get Robin and Marion meeting back up

And we get them, you know recapping each other's

nights of adventure And they at the end of it

they kind of walk off into well not the very

end of the comic but they kind of walk off into

the forest a little bit and we go back to the

cabal here and they are talking about the fact

that we have Athena the god of wisdom here and

she's um she's doing something to somebody I

like this story I think it's fun I think this

two -parter here has got some great Character

progression for Robin and Marion both What were

you thinking after you read this two -parter

I like I liked how it kind of wrapped things

up with the battle and kind of explained a little

bit of the available part and Still have questions

about the court of owls, but yeah Mean like I

said at least we got the origins for the For

the two head guys of the court of owls there,

but Which was good Going on into the next one

is the plague part one. So this story is basically

we have The cabal's final plan is revealed they're

going to release a plague on this city and we

start off with um marion seemingly dying in robin's

arms that's not good we go back to robin being

in therapy and uh we go back to um she's telling

Her therapist what you know how her day was going

you know by 345 she's solving the case of the

husband who cheats with vampire hookers I Guess

all vampire hookers lives matter too though who

knows And she says she is on a mission she has

been scoping this guy out for a long time She

doesn't have much to go on and it turns out it's

Peter Martin librarian and this is the guy that

was stalking her earlier You know the Peter Martin

story This was the guy that Was going to was

following her around earlier and he was the one

that stole the the the trinkets in the other

in the first trade and We get to Marion who's

trying to cook some beefy helper, but it doesn't

exactly Go so very helpful. No Because she notices

she gets subpoenaed and next thing, you know

burfy beefy burnt beefy helper so Yeah We get

back to Robin and Peter we have more We have

more exchange between them. I love these two

interacting here because of their personalities.

He asks her about her eye and she says that's

none of your business and you'll tell me someday.

The amount of no is staggering. I just love that.

And I love Roberta's backgrounds here. You know,

the whole picnic table area and the art is, is

flawless. I love the shadow of, of Peter with

Robin. I think that's good. Um, what are you

thinking by the time these two are interacting?

I want to see where it's going with them. Yeah.

And then of course you have Robin's, you know,

he's, he's asking questions and she's like, not

going to answer it. Sarcasm, sarcasm. sarcasm.

Yeah, the questions panel was very, very fun

and interesting because it's basically a three

and two panel. It's basically five or between

four and five little panels of the back and forth

of their conversation. And I think that's very

well laid out and interesting. We walk away with

her saying this isn't over and he's like no it

really isn't We go to back to the bar with the

router So we get more conversations with Robin

and him And he's like keep that witch safe remember

our deal Yeah, you haven't given me a second

to forget it We get to the cabal and We find

out what their plan is but the Sun really isn't

I Don't know the Sun really isn't into this hole

You know We all have lives outside of the cabal

to maintain those lives to live as men or actions

are monstrous to separate who we are from what

we must do together and that's That's the main

guy talking there, but I know his son doesn't

really want To be a part of this And we see the

hostage there Because that's gonna be the sacrifice

We go back to Robin and Marion's and they went

she ordered from gyro palace Because apparently

her trying to cook as we've already seen was

not exactly a good thing Well especially after

getting served who wants to cook. And we get

more of the little Robin kind of mini characters

as she's telling the story of you know of all

their problems like Avella and the Rotter. Peter

and the urn and the cabal. I just love that I

Can't even play a violin clearly I Just I just

love what they did here with that. I think that's

so fun. Oh Yeah We get to Marion and Robin in

the magic shop and Robin is just touching all

kinds of stuff in there and squish squish squish

yeah it's warm stop touching stuff and we get

to the point of what finding out why Robin why

Marian's magic kind of dwindling and that's because

she's tied to Avella and Avella isn't in the

best of places right now. So we go back to their

apartment and actually no we go to the we go

to the building where the cabal is. You know

they're all dressed up and ready to go and we

get there. We see that the cabal's plan gets

interrupted with Avella, but Malek shows up,

and basically he is controlling Avella. So he

has control of Avella, and they're going to release

the plague, but his son wants a word, and you

know... I've got a bad feeling about this, Dad.

The witch, the shift. This isn't your first,

Brendan. Yeah, but a plague? We've done worse.

So they take their masks off and they look at

each other and he basically tells his father

that he's not a monster. Brendan actually wants

to stop the plague. But his father basically

convinces him to go back in here and the catalyst

is rising. So we have Avella doing the dirty

work here. But not really, because the strings

are broken. What were you thinking with this

whole scene? It was nice to see, you know, the...

People revealing themselves and kind of playing

the the other side Especially the the father

-son Yeah, I like the whole father -son thing

I think that's fun and interesting and it's It

adds a line of not just you know Not we're not

just all evil. We you know have souls and We

get to Robin and Marion outside the building

and we see this loud kind of kaboom and some

guy, well actually the prisoner that they had

falls to the ground and he spews out black stuff

that gets onto Marion and Marion's not looking

so hot. She's a... she's gonna be infected so

we open for part two of the plague this is what's

happening we open with a bunch of action and

then we get a but first where they're rushing

Mary into the hospital because the plague has

gotten out and a lot of people are going to end

up getting injured I love Roberta's art in these

first few panels, especially on the one where

it's Robin saying, I'm trying to quiet my thoughts,

but my mind is screaming. I wish I were a better

detective. I wish the only person who keeps me

grounded weren't dying on a hospital bed. The

way that Roberta has done Robin's eyes and the

tears and all of that, I think that's absolutely

well done. oh yeah so we get what's his name

Peter chasing after Robin because she's only

focused on saving Marion we get Robin going into

Back to the magic shop and she basically shoots

the chicks phone with the arrow It's like the

next one's going between your eyes talk Yeah,

you'd kill someone crutches. Look me in the eyes

and ask me that again Should I be looking in

the normal eye or the creepy yellow one? I Love

pats writing for this and you know The the woman

finds out that Marion has the plague They're

trying to wipe out humans humanity there, you

know The cabal that's who you're talking about,

isn't it? Yeah So we find out what their plan

is for that and We have Robin and this lady saying

good for her I'm not stuck up on all mystical

defense that can help us. We're going It's no

use there's nothing we can do or anyone else

can do to stop them even if that's true Where's

the fun if we don't try so Peter shows up, and

it's the three of them Actually what's actually

funny is We have Robin making calls all around

the world to various friends of hers so we get

a call to read who's in LA We get a call to Lisa

Van Helsing who's over in London and the three

of them is pretty much all that there is going

to be. It's kinda sorta until the chick with

the crutches disappears. Alrighty then. Yep,

and then she took herself out. Yep. Which is

just weird. Yeah. So they go to the Mesopotamia

and the lady at the desk says, I'm sorry, but

it's closed for the day. And she kind of looks

like she has some sort of plague. And we get

Peter and... She's the lizard. Yeah, she's the

daughter of the lizard. Where's Spider -Man when

you really need him? We got Peter with a gun,

Robin with a bow, and they are gonna fight the

Cabal. They actually get captured and thrown

into where the Cabal are. We see Marion in the

hospital with her face all fractured and plaguey

and I guess, I don't know any other word to...

use for it and we get Sam saying I need to see

her and we get Robin facing off against the cabal

and which is quite shocking really that they

almost come to you know an understanding but

then you know Avella you know attack and that's

not exactly gonna be a good thing but Robin basically

instead of fighting she goes to her knees and

begs Avella to help her because because Robin

because Marion is is dying and Robin sees that

it's Malek and and We get this interesting kind

of flashback to two years ago You know talking

about the prophesized child of darkness which

Robin was supposed to be and We see that Robin's

like just look at the arrow because the blood

is on the Well, I thought it was funny that they

were like, oh don't touch her, she's the prophesied

one. You know calling back to the earlier Yeah

And then Yeah, the Malik I didn't really remember

him all that much but I'm sure he was there.

Yeah, it was previous. Yeah. Yeah, he was he

was controlling of Ella because he was part of

the The cult at the time So we get to a point

where Malik and Robin need to bargain You know

so we get that We get Is it no it's not a vela

that's um Athena we get Athena pricking her finger

with her own blood with which gets the antidote

for Brendan so Brendan gets saved and we have

You know We have his dad asked him what you know

what what if she really is a hero what what if

she's this what if she's that and then he throws

her off the balcony so Robin's in a free fall

that's not good at all but Marion saves her because

the Rotter came and got Marion from the hospital

and she's basically on her knees saving Robin

Because Marion's alive We go back to their apartment

You know Officer Gingrich is like you guys are

cutting it pretty close. Don't forget we gave

you the antidote So we have that and we have

Gingrich thanking them And the Rotter essentially

fancies himself a hero which is interesting and

apparently they have a million other problems

but they are going to survive so these these

two arcs here uh windows window to the soul and

the plague i think they're very well done both

in writing and art roberto ingrenada's art uh

is very refreshing i think it's very fun uh pat's

story is continuing to evolve um it feels because

these were each two two -part stories it feels

almost less villainous i know you mentioned last

time in volume one where you felt a little bit

where it was kind of like you know case of the

week villain of the week and obviously with this

i think it kind of felt a little less like that

what did you think Oh yeah, it was definitely

less that way. It was definitely more bigger

story arc and kind of showing more of the grand

scale of things to come. Yep. Absolutely. So

issue 11 is the next one and it is the one shot

of Robin and Marion go to Comic Con. They're

going to New York Comic Con. Somebody in the

very beginning of this brings them a case about

the War Hammer. I thought only Thor could use

that. That's actually a board game. Yeah, that's

true. Because I used to play it. So the War Hammer

has been stolen. And the guys like I probably

sound like an idiot to you and no not at all

This is the exact reason Nottingham investigations

exist the sort of problem you're talking about

isn't an everyday occurrence And He tells them

more of of his problems because of not having

the hammer. When his wife eats, you know, every

bite that she eats starts rotting. The moment

it hits her tongue, my dog's drool is boiling,

and Marion's like, oh no, doggy! I just love

the... I love when Marion interacts with everyday

people. So they end up going to a comic shuhup,

and... Look little professor whom dolls and it's

a doctor who reference folks. Yay I've never

been into that series So because they're good

they're at the store cuz that's who bought the

hammer off of off of eBay etc, so You know, he

tells her about the con the con comic -con And

then we go through a whole various thing of cosplay

ideas with with Marion being professor the tenth

professor whom low -key Thor Robin to meta Oh

Wait adventure girl, so we get that we get more

of Robin's inner monologue and I love maybe I

should go as Buffy no spike you know challenge

the gender binary while being slowly tortured

by rich people in creepy masks fun I just I love

this issue because it really it it's very self

-contained and we get a furthering of the story

but we get introduced to these new characters

to the uh... to these these wolf -like creature

characters which are all creepy as all hell actually

kinda reminds me of an american werewolf in london

and it's sequel an american werewolf in paris

is what they remind me of we get back to the

con and we see all kinds of crazy we see it i've

got a cheetah here i've got batman a two different

batman a really bad joker you see that joker

yeah the one on the far left is actually the

trickster no it's next to the joker oh okay Okay,

I was gonna say yeah, but the yeah the Joker

one I was like what the heck So they we see a

pullout shot of the New York Comic -Con Convention

Center I'd like to go to New York Comic -Con

eventually. I just really want to go to New York

Yep, same boat So we get The the monster characters

they find out which booth it's gonna be at and

we see the guy from the comic shop and You know

Robin's like warhammer And he's like god help

me. It's it's chutzpah girl This is the one you're

talking about in the flesh one and only warhammer

That's all she's gonna say The fact that they

already sold it and somebody else bought it.

We get a pullout page of the convention center

again where it's all black and white with various

bits of color. I love that. I think that's interesting.

Seeing the convention center in black and white

with various people that are done in color. That's

fun. you know did you hear that the mongrel sold

the hammer and you know no we're not gonna you

know we follow we observe we find so the wolves

are uh stalking Robin and Marion um and they

get up to the people that that bought the war

hammer and they're uh bargaining with that and

then the monsters come up and whoops Enough hand

over the hammer. We will feast on your innards.

I mean I would only this thing is We really need

the rent money. So Robin uses Robin turns into

Thor and uses the hammer on the wolves What are

you what are you thinking for this fight? Lady

Thor. Yep Lady Thor and then lady with cardboard

sword. Yeah Almost looks like something out of

soul caliber a little bit one of the characters

out of there and Marion's like may I so adventure

girl with a sword and That didn't really work.

So she punches the thing in the face And they

eventually let's see They get the hammer back

and They go to They're talking more to this main

character here Where you know before she kills

him We go back to Lord Banzai we go back to the

witches coven because they're casting a spell

And they basically remove the curse from the

hammer and all of that. So that's good. And they

get paid. The wolves all feel free. Yep, and

the curse is broken. Yep And Marion and Sam go

on another date or they're gonna go on another

date and you're adorable adventure girl And Peter

wakes up with I know prisoners don't really expect

to wake up to a four -star hotel in a fresh cup

of coffee But circumstances call for the star

treatment. I'd say Brendan Sorry about the not

in your head not my call. I thought you were

I know man. I know so Peter and Brendan hug it

out at the end of this and Next up. We have a

tale of rot. So what did you think of the comic

-con issue? overall really humorous and kind

of gave a more in -depth view of what could be

a Cool show with a comic -con Absolutely. I love

issue 11, the Comic Con issue, because it's very

rare that you have a comic like this that will

do something so cool as putting the characters

at the convention. Especially Marion, who is

still new to this world and has never really

been. Even though we saw in the issue how she

knew all about cosplay and and all of that it

doesn't really bother me that she already knew

about it because once i think the reason why

it doesn't bother me is because once she was

once they were told about what the convention

was she probably looked it up on the internet

and find found out about it and all that stuff

so the final issue in monsters in the dark volume

2 of robin hood is a tale of rot and we get the

origin story of the rotter What did you think

of this overall, the story as a whole, before

we get into some of the finer points? What, to

the road thus far, or this particular one? No,

to the overall for the Rotter story here in issue

12. Kind of interesting, kind of finding out

some about the character in general. It's still

pretty gross to look at him, but... Yeah, well...

It's not as bad as some of the wolf creatures,

but, you know, he's alright. So we get... We

get Robin, or not Robin, we get Sam and... We

get Sam and... Marion on their second date and

they go see the princess bride a special showing

and and You know Marion's like I thought you

said it was a comedy. It is a comedy. Look at

me. I'm a wreck What do you see before you is

not laughter? You know Robin Robin Marion did

very much enjoy it she just wasn't prepared to

care so much Robin is basically blowing up her

cell phone. I need you home now. The Rotter is

here. The Rotter is eating all of your chocolate

covered cashews. Cashews equals gone. Happy now?

He's getting impatient. We get an as you wish

at the end here Because Marion says I want to

keep doing this and Sam's responses as you wish

and Is the Rotter thinks that they've been ignoring

him, but they really haven't been So we get him

telling his You know His story of how he came

the Rotter, which again, you know, he turns out

he was a criminal that ended up getting cursed.

So there's that. We then have Robin going to

all his old crew members, which is is an interesting

thing for me to see with Robin, because we've

seen before that Robin When she's on a mission

she's fine when she's fighting, but when she

actually has to talk to people it's sometimes

difficult You know we find out that We find out

that Billy's curse here, the guy that she's talking

to first, is he always has to tell the truth.

We get her reporting back to Marion and Robin's

going back to see Sherman. We see Marion going

back to the magic shop lady. And the Rotter continues

his tale of woe. And I'm liking this, I think

it's interesting. What are your thoughts to this

point, up to the point where Robin's about to

knock on the door? I'm a little... not quite

sure. I am liking this nice backstory though

with the character. Yeah. And what I like about

it is that they use black and white for the backstory.

Well they use obviously the color for the present

and I think that's really cool. I think it allows

Roberta to work with a different palette and

a different tone obviously because it is the

past so I think that's good. And the reason why

you know Robins like I want to talk to Sherman

and you know, mr. Sherman and and she points

the arrow at the maid because the maid says well,

that's not really purse that's only possible

and Mr. Sherman turns out to be a giant tree

monster because that was his curve He got turned

into a tree All's I can think of is a is the

scarecrow from Wizard of Oz And Marion goes back

to To the magic shop lady and she's like you're

one of those danger -seeking girls aren't you?

Can you just like fucking monster trucks? Rodder

finds out Monty's a tree All of your worst nightmares

came true. Billy Cormack was scared of the truth

coming out. Now he can't lie. Monte Sherman,

he told me he was scared he was going nowhere

in life. Now he literally isn't. Yeah. Well,

you bet you were scared of death and now I am

death sort of poetic, ain't it? And they mention

the children of Eve. Eve, come on. It couldn't

be that nonsense. That's the day I left. I had

nothing to do with that. Well, we're going to

go with yes. So we get more of the origin story

where he and his love got married. She wanted

a kid out of him and couldn't think of anything

better than that. Figured we could. Couldn't

do it here not with everything that had happened

everything I'd done So we get that part of the

story in the backstory and we find out that I

was waiting Monty and Billy and a few others

were inside I was just thinking about them thinking

that we'd go for some beers because after tonight

it'd be the last time I'd see the sons of bitches

They were like poison to me and I hated who I

was when I was around those bastards, but I loved

them. So we find out that he heard a gunshot

and left them all behind like a coward. And we

see the... We see the beginning parts of Monty

and Billy with the tree and everything else.

Nikki says, I was with my Emma for five beautiful

years. He left to spare her. No, that's not that's

not it to spare myself I guess I thought the

love of your life gagging at the sight of you

couldn't take it. I still can't So they're talking

about there may be a good chance they won't be

able to heal him Robin and Marion go to this

place and they find out that they need an offering.

Marion cuts her palm so they enter. It's a little

creepy people yeah, it's They almost remind me

of the Russian miniature dolls that go inside

each other Except you could make them go rad

rom so we get them allowing which they get even

more creepy as it goes along as the discussion

continues one of them one of ours fell dead because

of your friend in lives as long as that of the

children of eve loss fades into the past we were

forced to forgive because we've Forget the pain

of loss as time dulls its sting and that is wrong

Vengeance must be physical and then they kind

of open up their chests and Basically she tells

them you you kill me and save you know save save

your murder hero and Basically they can't heal

him pretty much So we get him talking with the

key the her cats and he basically says you kind

of remind me of him at a robin and You know,

maybe come to you today all gung -ho today's

the day Emma, she's in a nursing home. Brooklyn,

not far from where we used to live. I had this

dream last night where I went to see her. So

as this ends, we get Marion and the witches putting

on a spell to make Nicholas look like he used

to, to go in and see Emma without, you know,

freaking her out. And it kinda... ends on a happy

that he's yeah a hideous man creature yeah but

I like that it ends on a happy note with them

kind of looking into each other's eyes and him

reassuring her that it was just a bad dream because

she's old and in a nursing home and maybe she

doesn't have a lot of time left and if you look

at that final panel of the two of them where

it's we're in the background it's him and her

as young lovers and then the front part is him

showing us the audience of what he actually does

look like and what she you know he does look

disgusting because of the curse but Mean really

we're all gonna be old and spotty at some point

even though he's not that old Yeah, well he won't

ever get like that yeah continue to fall apart

yeah So in the back of the trade we have various

covers from from this issue from various or from

various ones of these issues, I think my favorite

one probably is the It's probably the cover B

to New York Comic Con. It's the one where Robin

and Marion are standing in front of the convention

center. I like that one And then it was Robin

is dressed up as Thor. That's that's funny Overall

I think we also because Roberta in Granada is

is the new artist in this. We have the art of

Robin Hood and we see her process. So I think

that's nice that they threw that into the trade,

seeing the lines and things like that. That's

fun. I absolutely love this arc. I love the way

it was broken down, like I said, with the two

part stories and then the two kind of one shot

issues at the end. Pat's writing is great as

always. I think the story is progressing nicely.

I think Roberta's on the comic for the art for

almost the remainder of the series, I'm pretty

sure. I could be wrong on that. We'll find out

next episode. But overall, what are your final

thoughts? Definitely enjoyed it a lot more than

the last one. There was a lot more twists and

turns and evolution of... the various groups

that they interact with and It was kind of just

interesting in general to kind of see where they

might go from there. Yep, absolutely That's gonna
