podcast. This is David Sobolov, voice of DepthCharge

in Beast Wars, and you're listening to the Beast

Unleashed podcast. This episode of the Beast

Unleashed podcast features Stephen C. Phillips,

Mike Blanchard, and Michael Wilson. Hello, and

welcome to the world's first ever Beast Wars

Beast Machines Review podcast. This is the Beast

Unleashed podcast, brought to you by the Geekcast

Radio Network. I'm your host, TFG1Mike, and I'm

joined by Peacon Court Michael. Hello. Hey, how's

it going? It's going. And Steve Megatron. Hello,

sir. Today we'll be reviewing the final three

episodes from Beast Wars Season 3. So what's

going on, guys? I'm not typing, dammit. Someone's

typing. Steve, anyway. So, how's it going, guys?

Doing okay. Yes. Any interesting stories from

the Wilson household? Uh, Aiden. uh, said, fuck

me. Oh, really? That was it. That was interesting.

Yeah. How the hell did that happen? Wow. He was

just, uh, he was sitting, well, we were getting

ready to leave, uh, grocery shopping or something.

And he said, I have to go potty. And Christie

said, fine, go potty. And she grabbed the baby

and went out to the car to get him strapped in,

and I stayed with Aiden. And Aiden's sitting

there on the toilet going potty, and he says,

fuck me. And I said, Aiden, what did you say?

And he said, fuck me. I said, why would you say

that? And I'm suppressing the urge to just smack

him. Just like, why would you say that? And he

says, because mommy is going to get in the car

and leave without me. And I said, no, she's not

going to leave without me. And I'm here with

you. So there's no reason to say that. And he

said, well, I probably shouldn't say that because

it's bad. I said, yeah, you probably shouldn't

say it. I wouldn't recommend saying that anymore.

He's like, okay. He's just so matter -of -factly.

Like, where did you learn that? It wasn't from

me. I mean, I may curse a little bit here and

there, but number one, I try not to in front

of the boy, right? And number two, that's not

something that I usually say. So, yeah, that

was an interesting parenthood story. That's nuts,

dude. I know. Well, you know, four -year -old,

what are you going to do? They say the damnedest

things. Yeah, just sitting on the toilet, pooping

away. Fuck me. I was like, what? It's like, how

about not? Yeah, it's like, maybe you shouldn't

say that. When I was little, if I had said that,

it would have been instant beating. I wouldn't

have been walking for a good week. But we don't

do that with our kids, so it's more like, okay,

let's analyze this a little bit. Why would he

say that? But he agreed not to say it anymore,

and I didn't have to pummel him. That's good.

Yeah, parenthood score. Let's try to segue from

that. What have you up to, Steve? I'm doing various

voice actor stuff all over the internet. I recently

got in an audio play on voiceactingalliance .com

as Beast Wars Megatron and Tarantulas. And I'm

also in the running for G1 Megatron, Starscream,

and Scourge in a... Transformer the movie abridged.

Nice. Yes. Very, very cool. Do we have anything

we need to respond to? Because I don't remember.

If it involves bacon. No. Don't bacon, damn it.

I mean, as far as fan stuff, do we have anything

from the website posts? I notice Glade's been

posting on some of the TBU postings. um, on the

website. Yes. It's mostly about how hilarious

the depth charge fish pants. Yes. Uh, everybody's

getting a kick out of that. Yes. And, uh, yeah,

depth charge fish pants is probably going to

be at the end of this episode, actually, because

you did rerecord the, uh, uh, a better version

of it than I have it. Yeah, it is awesome. Nice.

Do we have anything else before we get into the

episodes? Have we brought up our UK affiliate

lately? No, our UK affiliate actually needs to

send me MP3s, damn it. That's what they need

to do. Get on that, Phil. I'm sure he will. I

think he's in London right now. I think he's

at Fright Fest as we're recording this. Oh, that's

right. I saw that post. I was wondering what

they were doing in London, but no, no, I didn't

put two and two together. That makes sense. Yeah,

math is evil. I know. I'm not very good with

numbers. As you know, the 54th anniversary. Yeah,

let's not go there. Actually, I do have something

very interesting. If my budget allows for it

in September, I am going to be commissioning

from Cali a Transmetal 2 Cheetor Puggleformer.

Is that going to have special metallic fabric?

I wish, but I doubt it. I don't even know if

the metallic fabric, I don't even know if that

exists. Yeah, sure it does. Well, I'll tell her

to get on that then. Not like tinfoil, but, I

mean, it's like reflective fabric. Yeah. And

speaking of the Puggleformers, Mr. Puggeless

Maximus over there. You've got to take pictures

of that thing. I mean, other than Twitch, all

right. I know you're not going to update your

website with the photo stuff, with the bio and

the photo stuff, but you have to do a blog post

about that with lots of pictures. I am. I need

to settle down and take some pictures. I wanted

to take some video of it. Put the video on YouTube,

not just frigging Facebook. I will. I will. I

just haven't gotten around to it yet. I meant

to, but I want to do it right. I just snapped

a quick photo and put it up on TwitPic just to

let Callie know that I got it. It worked out

just like I thought it would. I mean, puggles

are pretty much the same size as Fort Max's head.

And a Fort Max puggle sitting on Fort Max's shoulders

looks terribly cool. It's painfully cute. It's

cuter than Fort Max has any right to be. Yes,

yes it does. Alright, so I think we are going

to get into some episodes. I'll never serve one

as evil as you. You have little choice. And while

you deal with the Maximals, I will complete the

destruction of the Ark. You can't. The Time Storm

from such an action would wipe out your entire

race. Only those descended from Autobot and Decepticon.

But I and the Tripedicus Council have different

origins. Under our rule, Cybertron will conquer

the universe. And your precious Valk. You're

insane. So they say. Load datatrack Xenon and

execute. First up today is Other Victories. And

please, nobody interrupt me so I don't screw

stuff up, Michael Wilson. Other Victories 1 or

2. Shut up. You gotta screw it down, not up.

Oh, boy. The original air date was May 5th, 1999.

It was written by Larry Dottilio. Far away from

Earth in a nebula -like cloud live the Vok, the

aliens who seeded Earth. with the strange devices

that the Maximals and Predacons encountered throughout

the last two and a half years. The Vox sense

a disruption in the time stream emanating from

Earth. This powerful creature named Tigerhawk

arrives on Earth and destroys the dark side.

Okay, I had to combine my first two notes because...

Yeah... Because I really like the effects in

the beginning of the episode. And then the transsexuality

starts. The trans... I don't think it's transsexual

if you combine two members of the opposite sex

into a single being. Especially if that single

being is then firmly male. I don't know. But

the reason why I saw that was because you combine...

He's basically... What I was going to say was...

He's basically a Transmetal 2 Fusor. Which is

strange. But using the two personalities of Tigerhawk...

Tigerhawk. Stupid. Tigertron and Airazor. See,

now, I don't think her personality comes out

at all. I don't. It's Tigertron. It sounds like

Tigertron. Right. It acts like Tigertron. So

it must be Tigertron. Yeah, that's kind of the

way I saw it. If cheese smells like cheese, then

it must taste like cheese, so it is cheese. Yeah.

I just thought it was weird that their bodies

merge and then shoot off toward Earth, and then

their sparks kind of follow along behind. Yeah,

that was kind of strange. So it's like, I almost

thought that they left it open so that maybe...

as opposed to dying, Tigerhawk could be split

up into Tigertron and Airazor again sometime

in the future so that their sparks could then

re -inhabit the bodies. Maybe, possibly. That

would pave the way for the transmetal versions

of Tigertron and Airazor. Yeah, for the toys,

yeah. Since that's the only way they're going

to hit that form. Well, no, I don't think there

was a... a Transmetal Tigatron, but there was

a Transmetal Airazor. Yep, I have it. One of

the versions. It was like four or five repaints

of it, but it's not a bad figure. No, it's okay.

I was really surprised they never bothered to

go back and repaint the one or the other of the

Transmetal Cheetors into a Tigatron. I mean,

that's a layup. Not really, because Transmetal

Cheetor was a completely different mold than

Tigatron, wasn't it? Well, no, what I'm saying

is the original Tigatron was a repaint of Cheetor.

So why not take the Transmetal Cheetor and repaint

him in Tigatron colors? Oh, okay, I gotcha. So

there you go, Transmetal Tigatron. I mean, like

I said, that's a no -brainer. The dark side go

boom! I like Megachon. He's like looking around,

looking around. He's got like this weird smirk

on his face. Abandon ship. He's kind of gritting

his teeth. I like Rattrap. He's like, all right,

up high. Yeah. Don't leave me hanging. Everyone's

like, oh, crap. And he's like, am I the only

one that sees this? This is cool. Come on. Seriously.

Up high. To the sky. Down low. Too slow. Too

slow. You got sold. Yeah. At least this time

Waspinator has company! Oh yeah, that was awesome.

Yes, it was. Waspinator down with that. I like

Megatron green. I like him wearing the headpiece.

Judge Megatron, yeah, that was so awesome. What

is a British judge called again? Sir. No, no,

it's like a magistrate or something. Yeah, magistrate,

yeah. Magistrate headgear. Yeah, that's funny.

Butt and face probe. Yuck. That's in reference

to when Tarantulas captures Tigatron and he has

all the spiders go all over his body. One goes

up his ass and one covers his face like the one

spider thing covered Optimus' face back in Season

1. Oh, like a facehugger from Aliens. You know,

this is just insult to injury because the injury

comes when the one right before that shoots him

right in the crotch. I know, yeah. You just see

it. It's heading for his crotch. They don't actually

show it hit him in the deck, right? But the look

on his face shows it just got hit in the deck.

And then they add injury on top of that. Insult

to injury, if you will. It covers up his face

with the facehugger. And you know what facehuggers

do. They've got the thing that goes down your

throat and inserts eggs. It's kind of like a

big dog that comes out of the bottom of it, you

know? So, so, you know, I didn't write that note

down now. Yeah. So you basically getting teabagged

here by this, you know, spider thingy. Um, that

would suck. I know. So you're getting punished

in the groin and you got something teabagging

you. I mean, it's just not having a good day.

Oh, man. So, tarantulas go boom, finally. And

I think, really quick before you guys chime in,

Michael, I think one of the reasons why Tigatron

and Airazor's sparks floated behind them to follow

was because when they... turned into Tigerhawk,

it was the two alien skulls that, like, they

removed the sparks and inserted the skulls into

the Tigerhawk body so it had an alien presence,

because Tarantulas' whole thing was he was going

to remove the alien presence from Tigerhawk,

and that's what made him go boom, was the alien

skulls went inside him. So that's why you had

Tigatron and Airazor's sparks following behind

it. I kind of thought it looked like an exorcism.

Oh yeah, it did. We need a young priest and an

old priest. Really, all we need now is Black

Arachnia doing the exorcist chick walking upside

down down the stairs. With her head spinning

around shooting out pea soup. Who else shit themselves

when Tarantulas blew up? I did not. I was quite

surprised. I did not see that happening. I've

said this before on this show, but when I first

got the DVDs, I marathon watched them and I was

like, ooh, awesome. And then when I went back

and I watched it now, I'm like pumping my fist

like, yes, no more Tarantulas. Finally got rid

of that asshole. That has got to be the worst

explosion for a bot in the entire series. Are

you serious? I thought the effect was really

nice. I liked it, yeah. No, I'm saying like...

the most explosive, like damaging. Oh, well,

outside of what we'll talk about later in nemesis

part two, but yeah, I think this was the most,

uh, I don't know. There's, I can't express it,

but this is, you know, there was nothing left.

He was disintegrated. This was, this was like

star scream, hardcore. Yeah. Yeah, I didn't really

take a lot. It's funny. On these last three episodes,

I didn't really take a whole lot of notes. I

took notes, but I was really enjoying these.

So my last note was things have changed a lot.

Steve, what do you got for us? Well, as I said

before, I like the Megatron helmet. English helmet.

I liked the epic battle between Megatron and

Tigerhawk. Obviously ending with Megatron getting

his ass handed to him. I liked the trial of Quickstrike

where Waspinator is his defense and basically

hands him to the gutters. Yeah, that was awesome.

Waspinator's like... Waspinator liked defense,

a little more defense, and maybe Waspinator not

get blown up all the time. And then Quickstrike's

like, looks like this is my last roundup. And

then Waspinator starts straightening, and he's

like, two -head throw Megatron in lava pit. Megatron

angry. Think two -headed traitor. Watch his slide,

two -head. Waspinator down with that. And he

has like the hip -hop pose where he's like, I'm

down with that. I know. And crossed his arms

and had the pose. That should so be the box art

for this one here. Never know. Yeah. Yes, and

then Megatron basically is like, just like when

Megatron turned to Galvatron, I don't put up

with your crap anymore, so this is how it's going

down. You know, basically. you will be sorrier.

Yes. Rattrap was hilarious, though. He's like,

uh, it looks like the Beast Wars are over for

the Preds! And then he starts laughing. Yeah,

up high! Up, come on! And then Rattrap's just

like, who do you think they're coming for after

they're done with them? I don't know, it was

Blackarachnia, I think. Yeah. Something like

that. Okay, no up high, no one wants to high

-five me. Bastards. I like Megatron, though.

He's like, This is my world now. You have no

place in it. Okay. And you get to see a little

bit more of Tarantulas' kooky side when Tigerhawk's

like, you're insane. He's like, so they're saying.

He starts cackling. And he skips in the air.

It's like a Looney Tunes moment for him. He's

kind of reveling. You know. Well, you don't know

until the next episode, but basically he's on

the verge of victory. He's about to win the Beast

Wars for himself. Yep. And Tiger Hawk screws

it. Well, yeah, basically he screws himself because,

you know, he ended up blowing his own damn self

up with his own machinery. Well, didn't you like

the scene where the Vok are coming at him and

he starts shooting the thing and then he puts

his fingers crossing each other like, no, I put

the hex on you, stay away. And then I should

say, I should remind Michael, this is the episode

where Tarantulas says, it doesn't matter. as

far as the timeline being disrupted, because

I'm not Autobot or Decepticon. The Tri -Predacus

Council and I have different origins. They don't

directly say Unicron, but... It could be that

Jay hacks this army. Well, yeah, they don't actually

say Unicron here, but later on in, I want to

say the next episode, Megatron actually calls

him a Unicron Spawn. Spawn of Unicron Spark.

Something like that, like a Unicron Spawn or

something. And, you know, that may have been

an epitaph like Spawn of Satan or something,

but some people take it to mean that, no, he

was actually created by Unicron, kind of like

a sideways character in Armada. You know, not

of Autobot or Decepticon origin. But, you know,

take that what you will. Yeah, I mean, I can

kind of see that. I don't so much buy into it.

I'm not really sure what he meant of that. I'm

sure Larry Dottilio probably knows, but they

don't really go into it. I can still deal with

it. Yeah, but why they would even have him say

that when he's going to blow up five minutes

later is kind of ridiculous. It's one of those

purposeful things that, you know, they just want

you to kind of suffer through. Like, oh, Tarantulas

might survive. And then they're like, nope. Well,

you know, there's a lot of characters that I

thought should have died a while ago. You know,

Tarantulas being one of them, I mean, he had

already blown up, was pretty well gone once,

and that was before, you know, you ended up with

that Blackarachnia resurrection thing. But yeah,

a lot of characters are going to die here pretty

quick. Yep. So true. Yeah, I didn't really think

that this was going to be the end of Tarantulas,

but I think... Maybe if there had been another

season, we probably would have saw Tarantulas

come back. It's debatable, but yeah, probably.

Because, you know, as far as this world's concerned,

they all somehow come back. But there was something

that they hinted for the next two episodes, and

it was the nemesis is shown on Tarantulas' computer.

Ah. Yep. floating around while he was dealing

with the Valk. Yeah, yeah. That's true. I was

wondering what that was there for, but no, that

was the nemesis. That makes sense. I liked the

few times that Cheetor kind of showed up. He

was basically there to make a guest appearance,

but when he shows up to follow the errant Spark,

you've got the You know, the Tigatron slash Airazor

spark that's following the body. And Tudor's

following it. And I'm thinking, you know, this

reminds me of Lassie. Like, what's that, Sparky?

Timmy fell in a well? You want me to follow you?

Okay. No, it's nothing like that. No. And the

spark takes him to where he wants to go. He thought

his cat brother was back. Can't fault him. Well,

you know, sparks aren't supposed to just float

around. Well... Unless you're Starscream. Yes.

Yeah. Otherwise, they're not supposed to just

float around. Or unless they're giant skulls

in the skies. Is it in this episode or is it

in the next episode where... Yeah, it's in this

one. Where the spark finally, you know... Yeah,

Primal shows up and he asks him, what is that?

Yeah, no, he says, what is it? And Cheetor says,

it's old friends, come home. And I think that

was really nice because if you go back in our

episodes when we talked about the one where the

two of them got destroyed or got taken away,

it was Cheetor there the whole time and witnessed

them. So you have continuity here. Right, right.

So I really like that. That was nice. Yes. And

again, it would have been nicer if, you know,

the newly, I don't want to say resurrected, but

yeah, you know, this new Tigatron entity, if

you could, I don't want to say see Airazor in

there, but you know. Just some type of reminder

that, yeah, Airazor's there, aside from the wings.

Maybe she's an apple in his eye. Sorry, I couldn't

resist. I thought it was funny. They're slapping

her on Cheetor. If your Cheetor's on the fritz,

just give it a whack. It'll work. Yeah, that's

where the end. Oh, yeah, because Cheetor got

knocked out. Yeah. And then the sparks wake him

up. They're like, hey, uh, Catbot, we need help.

It's like Lassie. It's like, come find my body.

I'm not dead yet. I'm not dead. I feel happy.

Come here, sonny. What else you got, Steve? Um,

I think that's pretty much it for that episode.

I mean, it was a good, uh, uh, It was one of

the better throwaway episodes, in a sense, because

this character survives for three episodes, not

even that. See, I think this could almost have

been a three -parter. He survives until Nemesis

Part 2. I know, that's what I'm saying, but I

think that they could have, instead of calling

this Other Victories, this could have been Nemesis

Part 1. But they wanted to stay with the other,

with the V. theme that they had going from the

entire first, second, and third season. That's

true. They had to wrap up the alien timeline,

so now they're like, okay, aliens are dead because

there's only two out of this whole Nexus project.

Out of all the Vox, these are the only two that,

you know, we'll just kill them and call it good.

Nobody knew where they went. Well, no, they assumed

it was destroyed, so they were like, I thought

it was sterilized. Well, apparently not, numbnuts.

What about you, Michael? What do you got for

other victories? I had noticed that you can tell

how comfortable David Kaye is with his role at

this point. Oh, yeah. Yeah, I mean, just the

whole courtroom scene. I mean, he just played

that not so much over the top, but it was out

there, but it was still casual, if you know what

I mean. Oh, yeah. Yeah, I don't think that they

would have pulled that off in the first season.

No, not at all. It was just very well done. But

that's about all I got. That's it? Well, I covered

some other things. I had notes as far as Cheetor's

appearances and being slapped around. At one

point, Optimal Optimus actually forgets how to

fly. I was just like, what the hell? I like when

he gets trapped in the ground. Oh, yeah. Yeah.

And then his hand sticking out, it's like zombie

finger. When I saw that, the first thing I thought

of, because his hand is so damn big, first thing

I thought of was Shredder from TMNT 2. Venus

Flytrap. Come here, Cheetor. Let me squeeze you.

No, he's like Gary. Pull my finger. At that point,

he's blowing himself out. Poor Gary. We give

that guy so much flack, and he's such an awesome

guy. Oh, I love Gary. That's why we teach them.

Yes. We love him. He's the best. Yes. So I guess

we are going to move on, then, if we don't have

anything else to say about other victories. X

was here, and Dinobot. They went that way, fleeing

our approach. Not if I know Megatron. He's after

something. Nemesis? You're kidding. I wish. Depth

Charge, we've had our differences, but you and

I both know that this is bigger than both of

us. They're underwater, which means you're our

only hope. Warhead's arm, full speed to maximum.

You have to stop Megatron. At any cost, consider

it done. Beast Mode! Oh, it is far more than

that, my malevolent minion. That is the most

powerful Decepticon warship in Transformer history.

The ship that shot down the Ark itself. The Nemesis.

The Nemesis. And finally, the last. Two -parter

of Beast Wars. Closure we get. Sort of. First

up is Nemesis Part 1. The original air date was

May 6th, 1999. Written by Bob Forward. Tigerhawk

adjusts to this new lease on life and the powerful

abilities he has. The Predacons are without a

base and Megatron dispatches a team to look for

new staging grounds while he investigates Tarantulas'

recent schemes. Megatron discovers that the arachnid

scientist has pinpointed the location of the

Nemesis, the battlecruiser that launched the

Generation 1 Decepticons from Cybertron before

they boarded the Autobot Ark. Dun dun dun. Dun

dun. And normally it's Steve's thing to find

stuff from the wiki, but I thought this was very

interesting. If you look at the Nemesis Part

1 post... page on the wiki. I love the caption

for the Nemesis picture. The most powerful warship

ever built, and I just had it washed. That's

awesome. Alright, so getting into my own notes

here, and not taking away Steve's notes, but...

Asshole. Just because I read some of it from

there doesn't mean I read it all. I have my own

mind, you know. You're a robot. You have no mind.

You have no brain. You have no personality. Shut

up, crown. Transform and finish it. I don't know.

Whenever Optimal Optimus or Optimus in general

just makes lines like that, I love it because

it just reminds me so much of Prime from G1,

even though it's not something Optimus Prime

ever really said, but I thought that was really

cool. I don't think it's something Optimus Prime

would ever say. And I've said it before and I'll

say it again. This does not seem very Autobot

-ly. And again, these are not Autobots. These

are Maximals. There's a difference. I don't think

so. And actually, I have to argue something with

you about the whole Autobot -ly thing because...

I've gone back, and I'm getting on a whole tangent

away from Nemesis here, but I've been going back

through my Matrix set, and I'm up to, like, I

don't know, Fire in the Sky, or I'm up to, like,

the ninth or tenth episode of Season 1. Yeah.

And there are several times throughout there

that the Autobots actively go after the Decepticons

to stop them before the Decepticons even do any

activity. So the Autobots are not totally good

and not totally to the point where... They fight

only if they have to. So, yeah, I've been going

back, and I've noticed a lot of stuff from G1,

and I've noticed a lot of stuff from the movie

that conflicts with your term, auto -botly. How

about this one? Blow it out your exhaust port,

Primal. Yes, dear. Silverbolt is so whipped.

Yes, dear. Well, he's just ahead of... At that

point, his head fell off. Yeah, and I like the

spring. Yeah, he's ahead of his time. Did you

see the spring? Yeah. Yeah, the spring. Rock

'em, sock 'em robots. Yep. He should have stopped

while he was ahead. Oh, damn. Waspinator, final

splat alert before he gets his comeuppance. One

of the things that when I was watching this,

just, I think I watched it, yeah, I watched it

like three in the morning a night ago or something.

I don't know. I watched it like after we recorded

the Christy Marks interview. When the proto -humans

are alerting each other, it's Star Wars horns.

It's the same musical, it's not the instrument,

but it's the same musical sound that they used

at the end of Jedi. to show the celebration in

the special edition. It's the same friggin' sound.

You think so? I know so. If it's not the exact

same sound, it's extremely similar. Because the

first thing I thought when I watched it earlier,

I was like, ooh, Star Wars. So they've got, like,

Ewok horns. Yep. It was cool, though. I'm not

saying it's not cool, I'm just saying it's...

It was so cool that ten years later George Lucas

came and replaced the music. I thought it was

a very awesome job on the flashback scene telling

the G1 history of how the ships crashed. I thought

that was a really nice visual showing the Ark

and the Nemesis. It was awesome. Yes, it was.

When Depth Charge cuts open Rampage, his spark

is showing also a beating red heart. That is

very weird. That might be why he couldn't die.

There's something like... It's not so much of

a split second of the Starscream thing from Waspinator

back in... I was going to say Obsession. Possession.

It's a thing where if you look at the open chest

and you look immediately to the left, you can

see another part of his insides. It looks like

a heart. At least to me it does. Something small

and red off to the side. Yeah. When Rampage gets

destroyed, I like how the flash between Dinobot

TM2 and the original shows up. That was very

cool. It was really cool how he held his chest.

I mean, of course, that death scene of Depth

Charge was so epic. It was awesomely cool. And

Primal's like, Depth Charge did it. He won the

Beast Wars. And he's not realizing, what is Depth

Charge going to do when he hits the water? He's

going to take out the unkillable. Yeah. He's

not going to go after the nemesis. Hell no. He's

going to go after Rampage. I actually thought

that the explosion there would have at least

harmed the nemesis. They weren't nearby. It shook

the ship. Yeah. I barely even felt that. Yeah,

but it was cool to see Dinobot get that little

flash, you know, kind of like he was being restored.

Yeah. And my final note before we move on to

Steve, this is the second time Rattrap has kissed

Rhinox. They might like each other a little too

much, I think. Well, you know my opinion on four

of the G1 Transformers, and I'm not saying that

Rattrap is that. You know, Rattrap was a little

overexcited. He thinks they won. He thinks they're

going home. I know. You know, I mean, he's maybe

just a little outside of himself at that point.

And, you know, to be honest, Rhinox might like

it a bit. Okay. Okay. So, Michael, why don't

you go ahead and do your notes? Okay. I thought

it was really funny that the Covenant of Primus

is an audio cassette. Yeah. He opens up this

book, and it's like Sunwave in a box. The Covenant

of Primus is now a book on tape. Or Blaster in

a box. He's reading it, but it's an audio tape.

It makes no sense. Yeah. It's like, are you sure

you can read a cassette like that? Well, what

kills me, though, is it's a book, right? I mean,

clearly, it's supposed to be a giant Bible. And

Primal's getting very preachy all of a sudden.

Hint for later. Well, you know, within a few

episodes here, Cheetor's going to have to take

over because he's too damn preachy. We won't

get into that now. Exactly. They told us to eat

Reese's Pieces. I want to see him get full -on,

you know, just televangelist mode. Where he starts

smacking people on the head and bringing them

back to life. You're healed! Well, it's like

he swims down to the bottom of the ocean. Depth

charge! Oh, healed! You're no longer dead. Now

you can walk. Yeah, because he's blown up. I

also like the Cheshire Ant. The Cheshire Ant?

The Cheshire Ant. I thought that was funny. The

way Inferno kind of ducks out sideways from behind

a tree, and on one side of the tree he's there,

and the other side of the tree he's not there.

Oh, okay. Granted, the trees may be, what, six

inches wide. Yeah. It's impossible for him to

not be on the other side of the tree. So it's

like Ninja Inferno. Yeah. I noticed something

about Inferno when they were sent out, when the

trio of him, Waspinator, and Quickstrike were

sent out. He said, yes, my queen, and Megatron

didn't say anything. He's used to it. Well, you

know, why? Yeah. To assassinate. I don't think

he intended to assassinate them. I think they

just happened to be in the way. Yeah. What else

do you have, Michael? Waspinator's Rant. Ant

-Bot can't find Thorax with both hands and a

roadmap. I thought that was funny. I mean, you

know, he's really starting to dislike his co

-workers at this point. Just not playing very

well with others. It's funny to see where that

goes later. Well, I like how he, you know, Inferno

and Quickstreak are talking about getting a new

Calany and all that other crap. And, you know,

Waspinator's like, uh... I said, no, after they're,

like, asking him his opinion, and he's like,

Dragonbot, I command you, subcommander, kiss

butt. And then, you know, it starts going off,

and he says, rips his symbol, Predacon emblem

off, and tells him to kiss, almost got to kiss

my ass, but. Almost got there. He says, big,

fat, stripey, and then he got blown away. Yeah,

they shot him Pulp Fiction style. Yes. There's

a lot of Pulp Fiction references here. Well,

you know, we'll get into that, I suppose. I just

thought that was funny. What I thought was funny,

Steve, you mentioned him ripping off his symbol.

I thought these things were, like, tampoed or,

you know, not tampoed, but, like, branded into

their bodies. This isn't G1 Skyfire, for Christ's

sake, or animated Wreckgar where you can just

rip it off and put another one on. But you gotta

remember how many times Waspinator's been blown

to pieces and put back together by the chemicals

in that, you know, tank. Mm -hmm. You know, some

of it's not gonna last. So there might be some

erosion going on, some rust. That is true. Very,

very true. So... So, I thought it was funny when

you have Quickstrike attacking the human settlement.

Because, you know, my first thought was, finally,

it's something that Quickstrike can actually

beat. He's always wanting to beat up on other

people, and he just can't. He's always getting

his ass handed to him. So I'm kind of rooting

for him at this point. Like, yeah, kick that

proto -human's ass. And then the hairy critters

kick his ass. Exactly. Well, at first I'm thinking,

that's kind of lame, but I mean, he's got a spear

sticking out of him. And I thought, well, you

know, Quickstrike might go down with three or

four spears sticking out of him, but not Inferno.

But then he gets hit with like a thousand. Yeah.

That's because they know pain doesn't affect

him. He's like, it's just my friend. And they're

like, no, it's not. We're just going to pummel

you to death with these. He's got Britney Spears

sticking out of them. Oh. Lame. Lame. That's

bad. Did you notice Optimus had his blast shields

on his shoulders? Yep. Earlier on? I thought,

well, that's kind of cool. And then later on

in the episode, they come off. Later, I think

it's, no, that's in part two. I'll bring that

up in part two because, yeah. I'll bring that

up in part two. Go ahead, Michael. Sorry. It's

okay. Shouldn't it be physically impossible for

Rampage and Death Charge to sword fight underwater?

Yes, yes, it should. But did that happen in this

episode or is that next episode? That was this

episode because this is where Death Charge actually

stabs Rampage to the heart. Yeah, finally. I

forgot about that, actually. Because when I was

watching that, I'm not a fan of underwater scenes

in anything. Whether it's films, whether it's

TV, whether it's cartoons. Because underwater

scenes are so slow. However, with this one, it

was extremely fast -paced, I thought. Well, it's

like they changed the lighting and added bubbles.

But otherwise, they're still sword fighting.

It's not like they're slowed by the weight of

the water or anything, which was strange. Did

you notice... Well, I want to say it was fairly

deliberate. But you've got Death Charge, and

he's just about to stab Rampage to the heart.

And he goes on his tirade and calls him a...

He basically says... Go to hell, you stinking

piece of shit. In so many words, right? As close

as you can get to that on a kid's show. And then

he's like, just fucking take it. I'm just going

to stab this right in your heart. And then he

pauses. And at that point, Rampage lets go of

the sword. Yeah, and says, go right on ahead.

Have fun. See what you can do. Yeah, well, you

know, I'm not entirely sure what the thought

process here is. I mean, first of all, you've

got Depth Charge. He's on a single track, one

track mind. All he wants to do is kill Rampage.

And he has his chance. This is it. Does he realize

that by stabbing Rampage in the heart with his

Energon stick that he's going to blow himself

up as well? I don't think so. You know, something

tells me that Rampage does. Because Rampage basically

says, go ahead, do it. And he doesn't, in my

mind, it's not like, ha -ha, I'll take you with

me. In my mind, it's almost like Rampage is saying,

you know what, I'm too damn old for this, and

let's just end it. We're getting too old for

this shit. Exactly. You know, let's just do it.

Come on. And at the same time... I think that

he knew he was taking Death Charge with him.

Now, whether or not Death Charge knew that he

was going to die, I don't know. But I don't know.

I want to say that there should have been a way

that they could have killed Rampage without killing

Death Charge as well. I think what it was was,

and I hate to point out that you could be wrong,

but I saw it as... Not after Dep Charge said,

I'm going to stick this through your twisted

spark or whatever else. It was Rampage that just

kind of moved and paused himself. And then Dep

Charge paused after Rampage did. Because Dep

Charge pretty much got in his face. Kind of like

Prime from Revenge of the Fallen. Like, give

me your spark, bitch. And I think it was like,

because there's a moment where Dep Charge, his

eyes go wide. Because Rampage stopped holding

his hands. And then Dep Charge stuck him. Right.

Where he just, Rampage just lets go and says,

have at. Go ahead. Yeah. I mean, I think it's

open to interpretation. When we talk with David

Sobolov, he actually said, Look, I'm not the

writer. I don't really know what was meant. I

don't really know what he was thinking and kind

of refused to extrapolate there, which is fine.

I understand that, but I think it's open to the

viewer as to what really happened. But, you know,

interesting conundrum. I don't know. I just thought

it was strange that... Death Charge would rather

die and take Rampage with him rather than let

Rampage go. Yeah, that was quite odd. Yeah. Anyway,

to leave that one alone. Once again, a butterfly

bites it. Of course. You see the butterfly blow

up. At the beginning. Well, this butterfly totally

bit it. Well, it's sort of Doggy Bot, but you've

got this trapped tunnel, and it explodes, and

it's like, boom, the butterfly's just gone. And

they have a habit of crushing butterflies in

this series. So I don't know if that was foreshadowing,

or not foreshadowing, but what do they call that?

Yeah, foreshadowing, we'll leave it at that.

It's kind of foreshadowing, because in a later

scene, you have the shrimp. Which, you know,

are in effect the butterflies of the deep being

crushed under Rampage's tank treads. Right. Which

I thought was funny. Anytime I see an animal

outside of the Maximals or the Predacons, I've

almost been conditioned to think that somewhere

nearby a protoform is going to scan that animal

and turn into it. So I see shrimp, and I'm like,

all right, shrimp bot, you know. Throw another

shrimp bot on the body. Exactly. Throw another

shrimp on the Rampage's tank treads. Boiled shrimp.

Roadkill shrimp. Roadkill surprise underwater.

Now, what did you think about the introduction

of the Covenant of Primus? Aside from it being

a sound wave in a box? Yeah, aside from that.

I thought it was strange, again, that Primal

is getting all preachy. This is really our first

foray into Transformers religion. We've never

gone here before. They talk about Primus in a...

reverently, right? But they don't so much say

Primus is our God. But here they clearly have

a Bible in their hands and they're preaching.

And it sounds very, you know, it sounds as if

the words, the sentence structure is very ancient.

Like it was written a very long time ago. So

it's clearly meant to be, you know, the Transformers

Old Testament. And... The more they read into

it, the more they're like, wow, this is talking

about us right now. This isn't just words. This

is a – what do they call that? A revelation.

Yeah. So I don't know. I'm not – how should I

put it? I'm not entirely sure if there was a

place for that. And then it gets really deep

in the next episode where you've got Megatron,

who also has memorized the other version, or

the other copy. But the good parts to him. Only

the good parts, right. Only the parts that have

him winning. And him winning in the sense that

there's a character in the book named Megatron

that he took his name from. Now, I don't know

if anybody noticed this. In the episode, and

now I didn't catch this, so I don't know if it's

true, although it does sound vaguely familiar,

like I may have noticed this. They said something

about, for animation error, that when Primal's

reciting the Covenant of Primus, Cheetor's in

his normal, transmittal form. I didn't notice

that. I'd have to go back and look. I didn't

notice either. I'd have to go back. And again,

you'd think they'd notice. It's like, how many

weeks are you spending on this? I think they

do it on purpose, honestly, to see if people

are paying attention. Oh, yeah. That's kind of

a cool idea. It's more of a, kind of like all

the little hidden writings that are in Cybertronian

text. Yeah. Kind of like... The CR chamber. Right,

right. This series marks, well, this episode

marks the first actual maximal killing a Predacon.

Right. Well, they're very reluctant to kill anybody.

And it also showed DepthCharge actually hesitating

when he had the moment. Yeah. Which, you know,

you would have thought he would have just stabbed

blindly, but no, he kind of stopped to think

about it for a second, like, uh, what? Yeah,

it's like, wait a minute, you're letting me kill

you? Yeah, I'll kill you, sure, why not? Sounds

great. But yeah, they're very reluctant to actually,

you know, kill anybody in battle, up until these

last couple of episodes, in which case everybody

dies. It's almost like, you know, the first episode

of season two all over again. where it's like,

oh, miscellaneous characters? Yeah, there's a

lava pit for you. Have fun. Oh, not even that.

I mean, obviously we're going to be continuing

into Beast Machines, but if you look at the whole

of Beast Wars, this two -parter, and then what

happens in Beast Machines, I mean, Megatron,

planet -wide genocide. Essentially. Well, yeah,

they don't really... get into that until later

on, but yeah, it's as far as one Maximal and

one Predacon and I'm going to kill you now. It

doesn't happen a whole lot. What else you got,

Michael? Just that here at the end, well, close

to the end of the penultimate chapter, we see

how far the animation has come. Oh, yeah. Yeah.

I mean, they have the opening scenes, which are

gorgeous. The sky and the landscapes, I mean,

they've really come a long way, even since the

beginning of Season 3. It's like, wow, they're

just continuously improving. You've got the lighting

in Tarantulas' underground lair, the water effects.

It's extremely hard to animate or CGI water,

and they did that underwater battle very well,

and they did the effects on Nemesis coming out

of the water very well. Right. It's almost like

a waterfall coming off the ship. Yeah. And it

was just really well done. Yeah. I was just really,

really enjoying watching this. And I don't have

HD. let's say Blu -ray versions of the DVDs.

I don't think anybody does. But you can watch

the Beast Wars episodes in HD in 720p on YouTube.

And since I've been watching them in high def

on YouTube, it's like, wow, this is really gorgeous.

They're just really, really beautiful episodes.

And I can watch them full screen. And I get a

pretty good sized monitor. in high def, and that's

amazing. Just so well done. Anything else, Michael?

No, no. What about you, Steve? What do you got

for Nemesis Part 1? Well, I've got the Covenant

of Primus on the Nemesis has an Autobot symbol

on it. Huh. Yeah, that's kind of weird. The one

in the Ark has the Autobot symbol. You would

think the one on the Nemesis has the Decepticon

symbol. Probably because the Decepticons only

want to know the good part. I want to know why

there are only two. Does every ship have one?

Well, I don't know. You would think that, I mean,

if this is like the Transformers Bible, that

there would be one in every room on every hotel

at Cybertron. So I was talking about hotels.

Motel. Motel, hotel, I don't know. They have

bars. Why wouldn't they have hotels? Yeah. They

have titty bars. Rattrap even confirms that.

That's right. Well, I was actually referring

to like old McAdams oil house or ale house or

whatever. The McAdams pub is one of those fictional

places that they talk about all the damn time.

Well, I want to say in Transformers fan fiction

at least, I'm not sure how many times it's shown

up. I think it showed up like once in G1 or something

in Season 3. Yeah. I forget. But, you know, they

have bars, and they have bars where the fembots

don't wear their chassis. Their torso plates,

yeah. Exactly. Torso plates over their chassis.

So, yeah, you know, they have that type of thing.

Why not have a hotel? And in my experience, and

I've, you know, been in a lot of hotels, when

you open the nightstand, you've got a phone book

and a Bible right there. And the fact that, you

know, I mean, again, every time they need to

read something, they've got a holographic display

or a monitor or something. You know, occasionally

you'll see Primal with a book. And it's like,

is this the book he's reading all the time? No.

Well, it's like, here, I got a copy of War and

Peace here. I've been reading it for fucking

ever. Oh, how about I read Covenant of Primus

instead? No, this is not going to ship, though.

How many books does he have? Well, the Ark is

where he got it. The Axalon went to the depths

of the sea, so he can't go down there. Oh, okay.

It's not like he's going to be like, oh, Depth

Charge, could you give me another book? Oh, wait,

you're dead. You're dead. Yeah, that makes sense.

Yeah, it's like, why doesn't he have his own

copy? I mean, again, it's the Transformers Bible.

Why would the last two copies on Earth have...

Well, yeah, literally the last two copies are

on Earth because they went down with the Ark

and the Nemesis. They don't have more copies?

I mean, it's an audio cassette. You know, you

could dub the tape, right? I used to do it with,

like, George Michaels when I was 15, so, you

know, you can do that. Wow, that's really dating

yourself. Holy shit. I never thought we would

ever have a George Michaels reference in any

of our podcasts. Holy crap. You know what's funny

too is I have vivid memories of listening to

the radio on my boom box and putting my little

blank tape in there hitting record when George

Michaels kicked on because I wanted to learn

all the words to I Want Your Sex. I still remember

most of them, too. Oh, boy. Yeah. Okay, so to

digress here, back to Nemesis Part 1. Get off

the George Michaels bandwagon. Steve, what else

you got? I think I have, like, five more things

I want to mention that are of actual importance.

Last time Waspinator gets blown up is this episode.

Just before he becomes the king. Rustinator.

Yes. King Wasp. But Transmetal 2 Megatron, his

beast mode head, functions much like his T -Rex

head did in the sense of paying attention to

what he wants, petting it, and watching TV. You

stole my note from part two, you asshole. Well,

it was in part one. Did it happen in part one?

No, it happened in part two. Well, goodbye. I

thought I noticed it in Part 2, and I was like...

That was my first note for Part 2. Now Megatron

is rubbing his dragon head. That sounds so wrong.

Wait, wait. Now Megatron is rubbing his dragon

head. So he repeats it. Again. Yeah, exactly.

It's nice and shiny. I have to buff it. When

Rantrap holds it up, it says... For the 7613

data track or whatever that Primal is supposedly

reading, it actually, in the Cybertronics text,

says, were cast out with him a cork, one fork,

and a bowl of beans between them. I still want

to know who the hell is pausing this to read

it. That's crazy. I don't know, but every time

I check it out, it lies to be true. That's funny.

which is hilarious that somebody's noticing that.

I still find the CR Chamber one with Depth Charge,

and it was hilarious. Yeah. F -F -U -U -U. U

-U -U. But, yes, and as for some more, when Megatron

refers to Tarantulas as Unicron's spawn, you

could kind of see it as a son -of -a -bitch moment.

It actually was cemented, which is probably where

I got it from originally, was the Primeval Dawn

convention -exclusive comic, where they actually

state he is a spawn of Unicron. Oh, that was

written by Furman? Yes. Yeah, see, now, Furman

wants to tie everything back to Unicron. That's

because he likes Unicron. Yeah, he likes Unicron,

he likes Grimlock, and he likes killing everybody.

You know, which again, I see a lot of Simon Furman

influence here in Nemesis Part 2. Yeah, because

everybody... Well, when we get to Part 2, Simon

Furman actually wrote Part 2. Well, he collaborated

with the entire Nemesis 2 partner, which was

originally supposed to be a 3 -parter. Well,

again, you have everybody dying. It's like, alright,

well, all of the Predacons, except for... well,

except for Waspinator and Megatron, die. And

then, you know, Tigerhawk dies. And Depth Charge

dies. And Depth Charge dies. So, I mean, you're

just killing everybody left and right. And to

me, whenever I see a bunch of Transformers dying,

I suspect Simon Furman. It's like, who let Simon

Furman in? Everyone's dying all of a sudden.

Yeah, but it says originally they'd had bigger,

grander plans for a season four, which didn't

come. I heard rumors of them bringing back the

physical jets, like the cyber jets. Oh, wow.

The Seekers, I mean, and their Seeker brothers,

the Coneheads, and having Megatron actually make

Starscream as his little bitch. which I'd heard

many, many rumors of these. Yeah. Kind of like

how they did Starscream in Animated with the

little crystal shard. Right, right. They were

going to do something similar with the G1 robots

and, of course, have to wake up the Autobots

and Decepticons. Hmm. Which would have been pure

hell. Yeah. I'm not sure how... Well, I can see

how they would animate that, but I'm not sure

how they would tie that in. With existing canon.

Well, that's where it would create a time storm,

new timeline, oh, everything's screwed. Yeah.

See, I hate it when they do that. But did you

notice Primal echoes Optimus Prime throughout

the two -parter of no matter the cost? Oh, yeah.

Right. Stopping Megatron. You're stealing my

lines from part two, damn it. Well, he actually

said this. Stop stealing my lines, you asshat.

You said it to DepthCharge. He does say it. Yeah,

but that's not where I noticed it. So I understand

he did say it to DepthCharge, but that's not

the inflection. I mean, yes, that's what Optimus

said in... Well, he said at any cost. I mean,

he said something similar to that. He said something

very similar. Right, but later in part two is

where I noticed it more as Optimus Prime. Right,

yeah. No, he says a lot of things like Optimus

Prime. And again, at this point, since Primal

is basically transformed into an optimal Optimus,

I see him as more of an Autobot rather than a

Maximal. Well, he acts more Autobot. Well, I

mean, he says things that Optimus Prime would

say, almost the same way that he says them. And

the fact that he can sit in the... in the Ark

pilot's chair or whatever, and fit there. It

looks like he's supposed to be there, as opposed

to everyone else who looks like little kids standing

next to a grown -up table. You have anything

else you want to bring up, Steve, or can we move

into Part 2 now? No, we move into Part 2. Okay,

so finally to end the Beast Wars saga of Beast

Unleashed Podcast, we have Nemesis Part 2. The

original air date was May 7th, 1999. It was written

by Simon Furman. Time is running out for the

Maximals as Megatron draws to a close the epic

three -year saga of the Beast Wars. With the

working Decepticon warship at his command, the

Predacon leader is ready to return to Cybertron

on a mission of conquest, leaving the Maximals

stranded on prehistoric Earth. Alrighty here.

So, first note was, as I have said three times

already because Steve already stole it. Now Megatron

is rubbing his dragon head. It still doesn't

sound right. You know how many pieces of Waspinator

I got? Oh, I love that scene. And I've kind of

mentioned this already. Dinobot TM2 is becoming

more like the old Dinobot. And actually, when

Michael and I talked with Christy Marks about

Dark Glass, and she revealed a little bit more.

I mean, we kind of know the basic plot line of

it, but she kind of confirmed it. Of, you know,

Rattrap trying to restore Dinobot. They did take

that from... dark glass and they put it into

this when Rampage got killed and then TM2 Dinobot

is becoming, it's pretty much restoring the old

Dinobot's personality for some strange reason.

Right. Well, it looks to me like Dinobot's coming

full circle and that, you know, he's like, oh,

I have honor and, you know, he never had honor

before and he had never actually come in contact

with the original. So it makes no sense why he

would suddenly inherit Dinobot's sense of honor

unless you factor in the occurrences in Dark

Glass. Dark Glass kind of fills in the blank

spaces in that Rattrap had tried to put the old

Dinobot's... or his programming, let's say, tried

to force -feed that into the Dinobot clone, but

it didn't surface. And now that Rampage's spark

is destroyed, now the original Dinobot programming

begins to come to the fore. That makes sense.

It explains what happened, and it would have...

some nice foreshadowing from earlier on. And

this series is all about, oh, what happened here

is going to really bring up ramifications two

or three episodes down the road. I seriously

think that Dark Glass would have been a much

better episode to put in there rather than go

with the flow. Yes, but we know why it didn't

happen. But anyways... I thought that Tiger Hawk's

stance of, you know, I'm going to make a stand

here type of thing and his little weathering

powers, I thought that was extremely awesome.

Especially when he fires on the dark side. Or

not the dark side. Jesus Christ. The dark side's

gone. When he fires on Nemesis and Nemesis fires

back, it's just like that old Ruby Spears Superman

cartoon when Superman's, like, knocking the...

The comet back. Unfortunately, in this, Tigerhawk

doesn't win. No, no. Well, I thought, and again,

I don't know if you recorded it while we were

talking about Aiden and his favorite X -Man.

No, I didn't. Oh, yeah, Aiden loves Storm. And

when I was watching this, I was like, ha, it's

like Storm! Because he's like... causing tornadoes

and weather -related effects like lightning and

stuff to attack the Nemesis. And I was like,

it's like a Transformers storm without the stand

-decks. I actually noticed, I notice them every

now and then throughout Beast Wars, but I mean,

Steve usually catches them from the wiki, but

I noticed an animation error. In one scene where

Megatron is firing on Tigerhawk, Dinobot's shown,

but his face is mirrored. The laser light eye

is switched. Yeah, I noticed that a couple times

in that episode that it happened. Well, that

was this episode. I know that. Yeah, I actually

noticed that too, and I, for some reason, just

thought that was how it was supposed to be. No.

I was focusing and unfocusing, and I'm thinking,

isn't that on the wrong side of his head? It

doesn't make any sense. We so need to get Jim

Burns to interview for this show, because there

goes Inferno. He burns. And Quickstrike, too.

Well, you know, now that we're killing everyone,

I'm surprised that Inferno and Quickstrike stay

dead. in this one. And my first thought was,

like, are they really dead? You know, that's

kind of insane. But, you know, later on, you've

got the proto -humans playing drums on Inferno's

head. Yeah. And his head's not talking or anything,

you know. It's like Waspinator's head falls off,

and he can stick his tongue out and pull himself

around with it, which is kind of weird and funky

and gross at the same time. But you knock Inferno's

head – well, Inferno's had his head off completely

a couple of times. Yeah. And he still came back

to life. Yeah. So I don't know. I'm not entirely

sure that those two are actually dead except

for the fact that they're killing everybody else

off. It's like I said. You don't – I've said

this before. You don't kill off the comedy relief.

Well, he didn't kill Waspinator. Exactly. And

even though Steve stole it earlier, this was

the point where I thought this was most like

G1 Optimus. This has to stop at any cost. And

just the way Gary said the line as primal, I

thought it was very much like the way Cullen

said it in TFTM. No matter the cost. Yep. Yeah.

All right. Next note here. Hey, you emasculating

fembot. What the hell did she pull off of him?

Was it his tail? It was his tail. Jesus Christ.

She pulls his tail off and then sniffs off the

end. Oh, shit. You know, the little barb he has

at the end of his tail? Just sniffs it right

off. With, like, scissors or some shit. And I

was, you know, I mean, it's like he tore his

dick off and she's got it in her hand and it

cuts off the head. And, you know, that's what...

Silverbolt's thinking because the look on his

face is like, but he goes, oh. Well, you know

he's crossing his legs at this point. He just

chopped off his dick, man. So, Blackarachnia

is Lorena Bobbitt. It's like Lorena, yeah, it's

going to chop it off and throw it out the window.

I don't know what she did with the head, but

she took the rest of it and jammed it into a...

power conduit until it melted. I mean, that's

just cold. I need Steve to do a line as Megatron.

The line about, oh, come on, let's have it. Oh,

I love that. That's actually in the quotes. I

know. Say it, damn it. Oh, come on, let's have

it. The usual destiny and honor speech. Speech

this. I just – I see – and I know it kind of

reverts once we get to Beast Machines because

– and we'll get to that once we get there. But

I just love seeing how badass Optimus is now

in this. I mean he's not – I mean this is – and

it said it in the episode synopsis. This is it.

This is the final stance. So it's like there

is no more talking. This isn't Beast Wars Season

1 where they meet on a snowy hill and try to

discuss stuff. This is the final stance. This

is full on knocking each other's teeth out. Yep.

He's like, you've given me hell and I can't take

it anymore. He's like, I have this giant Autobot

body and which basically allows me to beat the

shit out of you. So I'm going to now. I just

got three more notes, and then we can, I guess

we'll go to Steve after me. Knock, knock, anyone

home? I got this here ship for you. I'm going

to need a little context there. Rhinox drives

the ship through the Nemesis. Oh, okay, yeah.

Well, no, I thought you were referring to when

the nemesis shows up and starts eating the top

of the Mount St. Hillary. No, no, no, no, no.

The Beast Wars are over. Waspinator, happy at

last. Waspinator gets the last word. Waspinator

gets the last laugh. Well, I don't know. I think,

you know, ultimately Megatron's going to get

the last laugh. Well, as far as Beast Wars goes...

Yeah, as far as Beast Wars goes... If Beast Machines

never happened, Waspinator got the last laugh.

Well, you know, we've talked before about what

happens if the Beast Wars never ended and you

end up with these Transformers on Earth for four

million years waiting for the G1 Transformers

to wake up. Basically, that's what you have here

with Waspinator. He's the last one, aside from

Quickstrike's skull, and Inferno's skull, for

that matter. you know, assuming they're really

dead, you've basically just got Waspinator left.

Right. And, you know, he's going to hang out

for four million years. Well, they explain that

in Beast Machines. Well, yeah, they do. No, I

don't think they explain it. I think they fuck

it up. Yeah, they do. I would have been much

happier thinking that Waspinator lived happily

ever after on Earth for the rest of, you know,

time. Until his inner child ran out. Well, yeah,

until he died a nice old death or whatever. But

instead, they insist on hand -shooting first.

See, I thought the Thrustinator stuff was kind

of cool. But anyway, we'll definitely get to

that once we get to episode 21. Well, yeah, I

suppose. But it wasn't until the very, very end.

And it's like, oh, wait a minute, why does he

have... Waspinator's head. That makes no sense.

He wasn't Waspinator. He was somebody else. But

it just bothered me. I didn't like it. I was

much happier thinking that Waspinator was happy

on Earth. Maybe not still alive in the 20th century,

but at least happy while he was alive. Once you

go back and watch it, once we get to Beast Machines,

maybe you'll come around. So Steve, what do you

have? Primal gets kind of even more ballsy and

starts punching the door to the Ark as he discovers

Tigerhawk has been destroyed. He starts throwing

a tantrum and then Rattrap's like, uh, did you

knock? I love that. I like where Primal rips

off his arm piece to get into the Nemesis and

finally gets in there. Yeah, that's what I was

going to talk about because there was a point

in our discussion where I muted myself, and I

went over to my shelf, and I have Optimal Optimus

now here. And, of course, for some strange reason,

the upper arm pieces of the gray pieces, they're

actually sitting over on the shelf because I

couldn't get them to stay on the actual toy.

Oh, no, that wasn't an armor piece. That was

the wing piece that fits on the shoulder. I know.

I'm saying it's the same color as the armor piece

that's on his arm. Okay, yeah. But I know what

you're saying. So those are over on the shelf.

But, yeah, I had to go over to grab Optimal Optimus

so I could actually have him here because we

have to talk about him in the outro. So, yeah,

that was a very cool scene. I really enjoyed

that. I like the giant spinning teeth. It's like,

oh, fuck. It's like, I have this giant warship.

What could I put on the bottom of it that would

be really scary? You know what it reminded me

of? You guys have seen Tomorrow Never Dies, right?

No. Maybe not. Oh. Never mind. Tomorrow Never

Dies is a James Bond film with Pierce Brosnan.

They have a weapon in there. That's a drill that

has all these weird blades, and that's what the

blades under the nemesis remind me of. Oh, okay.

Anyways, yeah. What else you got, Steve? Well...

Don't laugh at me. Yeah, don't laugh. At least

he's not using... I think he's funny. I laugh

all the time at Steve. Don't laugh, because at

least he's not using the alrighty then thing.

Well, you've already done that once today. Yeah,

I know. It's Steve's fault, dammit. I think I'm

the only one that doesn't do that. Alrighty then,

that's gonna... I like where Rattrap says, no

power, no weapons, we're all gonna die. And then

Rhinox is like, yup. They don't even argue with

him, they're like, yup. Well, it's funny, because

every time he says it, it's kind of in jest,

and everyone else is like, shut up, Rattrap.

And this time, he just totally means it. You

know, there's no irony in it. It's just flat

deadpan. Now we're really going to die. And Rhinox

is like, yeah, okay, fine. I'll give it to you

this time because we're probably all going to

die. I like where Primal goes headfirst against

Megatron while Megatron's carrying the Covenant

of Primus and he just uses his dragon head to

bite Primal on the head. And that was pretty

funny. Another one of the quotes is where Dinobot

2 argues with Megatron. He says, destroy them,

and Dinobot's like, negative. What? What possible

reason could you have to disobey me? You know,

and then he's like, I'm your master, your creator,

and then Dinobot's like, and I had my honor,

asshole. You dare use the H word with me? And

then he throws him next to Primal. He says, stand

aside, traitor. And then, you know, Rhinox rams

through. Yep. Which was epic. That was fairly

cool. Went right through the whole ship. Yep.

And this part with the ship will come back next

season. What? Yes, with Beast Machines. No, it

doesn't. Really? No, explain. I noticed that

Dinobot goes down with the ship, which I thought

was... As far as the shuttle. Oh, okay, yeah.

You mean that, yeah, it's in the episode Blackarachnia

finds the shuttle that they crash land on site.

Yeah, okay, yeah, I remember now. Never mind.

Oh, well, Dinobot wasn't in the shuttle. Oh,

Dinobot was on the ship. Yeah, and Optimal Optimus

said, you know, save yourself. And he's like,

no. You know, and he just went down. I'm thinking,

you know, four million years from now, when Megatron

goes back to the Nemesis, he's going to find

a dead Dinobot lying there. You know, which I

thought was kind of strange. But, you know, for

all we know, Dinobot swam out of there and ended

up fighting with Waspinator for another four

million years. Did the Nemesis explode? No, it

just crashed back where it was supposed to be

in the G1 where they found it. Okay. All right.

It should have gone back in the ocean. It did.

I expected to see, well, it kind of went up.

It was kind of like a really cheesy 80s crash,

you know, where a helicopter flies behind a building

and then you see the explosion. Where it's like,

I didn't actually see the helicopter explode.

I don't know what exploded. Whereas here, the

Nemesis kind of goes behind these hills. and

you don't really see anything. I expect it to

see like a big splash. Or at least see it hit

the water. Cannonball! Well, you know, like the

Titanic. Yeah. When they show, well, in G1, when

they show the Nemesis underwater, it's in pieces.

Yep. And it would have been epic to see, you

know, the Nemesis kind of float a little bit,

flounder, hit the water, crack in half, and sink.

Yeah. Yeah. This is also the first time the Nemesis

is named by name as this two -parter. Right.

Yeah, which is weird. They state in Beast Machines,

well, Blackarachnia does, that they were aware

they stranded Waspinator there. Which, why would

they leave him? Other than that they thought,

you know, Like they said, he's dead, or they

just didn't care. They figured they'd send a

cleanup crew afterwards. I figured everyone was

just dead. Leave them all behind, but it would

make sense that a cleanup crew would show up,

because there's just so many Cybertronian artifacts

lying around. Most of them waspinator body parts.

Did you notice Furman stole some crap from the

Transformers movie? As far as quotes, like more

quotes. Well, Othellosmus just says nothing but

quote G1 Prime. No, but he says, in the Darkest

Hour, there will be a light. Yeah. So, I mean,

yeah, they just kept copying, which is kind of

strange. Well, I don't think it was copying.

I mean, the whole, ever since Agenda, and, oh,

well, I mean, I guess you could go to Possession,

but... I mean, ever since Agenda, up till now,

they've had various G1 references. Actually,

since the web. Okay, well, whatever. You know

what I mean? Fool. I hate that episode. Thank

God I never watch that fucking episode ever again.

You're just selling spiders. No. Anyways, you

got anything else, Steve? Nope, that's it. What

about you, Michael? Well, my favorite Pulp Fiction

reference, and that was when Megatron's reading

from his copy of The Covenant of Primus, and

he says, And you will know my name is Megatron

when I lay my vengeance upon you. That's what

that was. Okay. Ezekiel 2517. I've told you before,

ever since we started podcasting together, I've

told you, if you're just going to send me a link

with nothing else, I need friggin' context. I'm

like, what the hell is this crap from Pulp Fiction

that he's sending me? I sent you context later

because you were like, what the hell? And I responded

and told you what it was. But no, it's Ezekiel

2517. Yeah. And, you know, it's like... What

does Megatron look like? Does he look like a

bitch? But of course. Kind of like a bitch. Like

a big dragon bitch, kind of. I do. Before we...

I don't know if you have any other notes, Michael,

but before I forget about this, I have to bring

this up. Steve, you're incorrect. About what?

They never returned G1 Megatron's spark. Yes,

they did. No, they didn't. I watched the episode.

When Megatron was near the Ark, he never went

back to where G1 Megatron was. The Spark Chamber

never opened. It never went back into Megatron's

chest visually in the episode. Have you not watched

the deleted clip? No. Here, allow me to enlighten

you. It's a deleted clip that started out on

BWTF. It's on the final disc of Beast Wars. It's

literally 20 seconds that take Primal's saying

of where he says everything is as it should be

at last. And it shows in a rough animation sketch

Primal shoving Megatron's spark back into the

classic Megatron. Oh, I think I saw that, yeah.

Yeah, I did see that before. Yeah. Yeah, so I

mean that in itself, that explains it, although

I would have liked to have seen that in better

animation. I'm trying to bring up the picture

here that you sent, and I'm having trouble highlighting

it in Skype. Well, it doesn't have a clickable

link. It does, but for some reason it won't open

when I click on it. Well, here's the actual wiki

page. Yeah, here we go. Oh, there it is. Oh,

yeah, see, there's a picture. Yeah, but it didn't

actually happen in the cartoon episode, so it

doesn't really count. Actually, it does. Continuity

-wise, yes, it does, because it was on the disc.

If it wasn't on the disc, then I can say no.

No, it doesn't count. Asshat. It's the asshat,

you asshat. It doesn't count, because it wasn't

in the episode. It was supposed to be. It just

got cut for time. Well... I mean, as far as I'm

concerned, like, Dark Glass is canon. basically

because it explains what's going on in Nemesis

2. It was never actually filmed. It was never

actually accepted after it was written, but the

fact that it exists and the people know about

it and that it explains what happened here with

Dinobot, I mean, to me, I think that's good enough

for me. That's canon. And if you get a screenshot

here of G1 Megatron and a couple... You know,

people hanging out next to him. That's fine.

I mean, you got to think, it has to happen. They're

not going to let, you know, the Megatron, the

Predacon, go back to Cybertron with, you know,

Megatron or G1 Megatron spark in his chest. It's

not going to happen. Yeah. But... And I understand

that it's okay, fine. I'll admit it's in canon,

but as far as it actually being in the show and

a plot line of the show, it was never actually

shown in the cartoon. So we are led to believe

that at the end, when they fly away with Megatron

scotch tape to the ship, that he still has G1

Megatron spark in his body. That's just the way

I was led to believe it. regardless of the image

from the deleted scene. Fine, I can accept that

image. That's not a problem. But as far as the

actual episode, the way I'm thinking is he still

has G1 Megatron Spark in him. I wonder why they

deleted that scene. Time. Steve said it was for

time, probably. It looks like they wanted to

go with an alternative scene as well. I don't

know. Because they reused the audio for the same

clip. Oh, for another clip. I mean, they could

have tied it in as just, you know, an overdub,

you know, with Primal as they fly away saying,

now that we've restored Megatron Spark to his

rightful place, you know, we can go back to Cybertron

or something. Yeah, but they didn't say that.

Well, it could have been as simple as that. I

know, but they didn't say that. What else you

got, Michael? I liked how Dinobot 2, the Dinobot

clone, started to sound a lot like the old Dinobot

once his spark was restored. Once Rampage died,

the new Dinobot stopped sounding like Dinobot

with his mouth full of marbles and started sounding

more like Dinobot. where he starts saying nobility

and, oh, it's very noble and not very honorly

or sporting. Honorly. Honorly, exactly. I like

how you put Lee on the end of things. Honorly,

exactly. Uniquely. I offered my honor. She honored

my offer, and all night long it was honor and

offer. Honored my offer. What the hell? Oh, Jesus.

I just got that. Oh, God. That's horrible. You've

never heard that before? No, but it's funny.

It's funny, yeah. That's awful. That's right.

She honored my offer. I thought it was funny.

You've got a super -powered Tigerhawk Storm floating

around, basically single -handedly taking out

the Nemesis until Megatron brings the main cannons

online. And all I've got to do is push this button,

right? And he... He pushes it, and Tigerhawk

kind of meets him force for force. And yeah,

it's very Dragon Ball, where they're like grunting

back and forth. And Megatron, I'm not sure exactly.

Maybe this works like an elevator, where the

harder you push the button, the faster the elevator

comes. Because Megatron is just leading on that

button. He's like... Because if you press it

harder, it'll work faster and destroy more. Exactly.

It's like, the harder I push this button, the

faster Tigerhawk dies. So I'm just going to press

the hell out of this button. Yes. But it was

too bad. I mean, Tigerhawk lasted about two episodes.

Three, maybe. And then he died. Which, you know,

and his death wasn't even as epic as, you know,

let's say Death Charge, who only had six or seven

episodes. Seven. Seven, yeah. So not as epic.

I mean, I think anytime somebody dies... Yeah,

I think anytime someone dies... Referring back

to, like, Rhinox, where he says, you know, when

a spark is born, the universe rejoices, and when

a spark dies or passes away, then the universe

weeps. And it's like, you know, I want the universe

to weep when one of these guys dies. I want it

to be that... Well, the problem with that is,

especially in Depth Charge's case, is that...

Everyone dies. We can't stop and mourn everybody.

Well, it's not really the fact of Furman writing

it. It's the fact of you really don't have time

to mourn Depth Charge's. I mean, there's like

a half a second where... Where Primal's on the

radio saying, you know, but he paid the ultimate

price for saving us. And there's like a moment,

like a half split second of silence. But there

really is no time because they have to get their

asses in gear and go kick Megatron's butt and

go back to Cybertron. Okay, let's say, maybe

mourning is a bad term, but his death should

be so epic that I will... never again forget

that he died. Like, Dinobot, you know, in...

That was epic. The Code of the Hero, the... It's

Code of Hero. The Code the of the... No, it's

Code of Hero, you asshat. He's going to piss

you off. So, he, uh... But Dinobot dies, and

it's epic, and, you know, it's memorable. Sure,

Dinobot's second death was even epic. He traitored,

he went back to normal, and then he says, good

luck, Optimus Primal, as he sits there and watches

himself get blown away. Yeah. No, it was very

cool. Yeah, even him going down with the ship,

you didn't actually see him die. But, you know,

for all I know, he didn't die, he got away. But,

you know, still. It was very neat. He regained

that peace that was lost to him, and he still

went out on his own terms. Death Charge dies,

and there's a scene where we don't even know

what the hell he was thinking or what Rampage

was thinking or what was going on, but it made

us think. and it was very cool. And then they

had the whole part where not only do you see

the explosion, but then you see the parts of

Rampage and Death Charge floating, and then they

sink, and his wing, his beaten, battered wing

kind of sinks to the bottom of the ocean and

lands on the ocean floor. I thought that was

poignant. I thought not only did he have an awesome

death scene, but they... They wrapped him up

and put him to bed nicely. Now, Tigerhawk, he's

fighting. He's trying to defeat an entire ship

against overwhelming odds. And then he just kind

of dies. And, you know, I just don't feel that

it was as epic as it should have been. Yeah,

Tigerhawk was quick and boom, gone. That's basically

it. It's like, oh, you see that beam coming closer

and closer and closer, and it's like, he's going

to die. And he looks like he's in pain, but there

was really no damage model. He didn't explode.

He didn't have a trance -less moment where it's

like, pow! Yeah, but it's funny. I think the

reason why you never mentioned it, but there

was no damage model for Tarantulas, so you really

can't talk about it. Well, not since he hit Transmetal.

He just disintegrated. Yeah. I mean, he blew

up good. Yeah, he went boom really well. Yeah,

and you just didn't see that with Tigerhawk.

And I think that, honestly, the butterfly that

got blown up in Nemesis 1, Part 1 was better

than Tigerhawk's death scene. So it's like, what

the hell? I really think he got a bum rap when

they killed him. Yeah. I bet. Do we have anything

else on Nemesis Part 2? No, other than this is

my favorite episode of the season. See... In

some ways. Most ways. In most ways. I love this

two -parter, but it's not my only favorite of

Season 3. So, I guess we're going to go to some

quotes, and then the Covenant of Primus, and

then we'll be back with the outro. We'll return

to the Beast Unleashed podcast after this. Hey,

this is Cheetor, and you're listening to the

Beast Unleashed podcast. Ultra gear! Here's quote

number one. I hate hiding from them Maxis. Can't

I just shoot one? No. We are at the moment at

a tactical disadvantage. And whose fault is that?

You led us to defeat. No! I suspect that Tarantulas

may have left a legacy I can yet utilize. Against

Tigerhawk? The royalty will triumph. All we need

is a new colony. And I shall find it. Huh. Ant

-Bot not find own thorax with both hands and

a road map. Here's quote number two. This is

depth charge. Productivity spotted in grid skyline.

Confirmed. Strike team ready to deploy. Fall

back until their arrival. Blowing out your exhaust

port optimal. X is down there. I'm going in.

Depth charge. Depth charge. Fall back. Hit it,

bots. The moment is now. Transform and finish

it. Here's quote number three. There! That will

be our new colony. Ew, I don't want to move in

there. Got all them hairy critters in it. Unless...

Unless you mean we's gonna slag them. Oh, oh,

please tell me that's what you're planning. The

royalty demands a new colony, and we shall take

it by force. Waspinator, sick of being evil,

sick of being Predacon! And Waspinator, especially

sick of getting blown to scrap all the time!

So, Waspinator quit! As of now, which means Antbot

and Treads can just pucker their mandibles and

plant big, wet, juicy one right here on Waspinator!

four. I was your assignment and you failed. Raw

energy right through your twisted spark. Take

it. Take it straight to the pit, you sickening

piece of slag. So here, in addition to the quotes,

we have a complete listing of the Covenant of

Primus from Nemesis Part 1 and Part 2. So, here

it is. The seven spiral galaxies that you jabbering

about? The Covenant of Primus. Data track 7 .613.

Only two exist. One was aboard the Ark. And as

it were, a great mountain raging with fire arose

from the sea. I am Alpha and Omega. The beginning

and the end. That which is, which was, and is

yet to come. And you will know my name is Megatron

when I lay my vengeance upon you. And the stone

of their protection shall rise upward forever

and ever. As they who live and war as beasts

confront their final cycle. The hero who said,

hurt not the earth, nor the sea, nor the dreams,

nor the very fabric of time. But the hero would

not prevail. Finish the quote, Megatron. Nor

would he surrender. I am Alpha and Omega, optimal

Optimus. Now and forever. Until the end of time.

In the spark of an enemy, there will be salvation.

And in the darkest hour, there will be a light.

Yeah, from a very unexpected source. Oh, Chopperface's

clone. Who would have thunk it? And let us never

forget those other brave bots who sacrificed

safeguarded past, present, and future. You know

what the best thing is? We don't have to see

Megabot's ugly mug again till we get back to

Cybertron. So, the Beast Wars are over. And really

quick before we close the show, I have to send

a huge thank you to Wing800 of the PredaconEmpire

.com slash Nexus forums, because unlike some

people from Highland, Indiana, I now have a completed

Optimal Optimus. I have two missiles, which I

will never fire ever again, and I have an orange

gun. Oh, come on. You could shoot them. No, I'm

not shooting the missiles whatsoever. Fire, fire,

fire, fire. And I have to say, one of the reasons

why I'm saying this now, and I will probably

bring this up once we do our Beast Era Toys episode,

I noticed in Nemesis how Optimal Optimus, I don't

know much about the other Beast Wars toys because

I don't have a lot of them. Actually, I don't

have any of them other than Optimal Optimus.

And Beast Wars isn't about screen accuracy, but

Optimal Optimus is very screen accurate. Except

for the tiny head. Okay, well, yeah. I mean,

as far as the overall design aesthetic to the

toy compared to the animation model outside of

the tiny head, it's pretty much extremely screen

accurate. More so than the rest of them, yes.

Yeah, and Michael Wilson fell asleep. No, I'm

wide awake here. Oh, so that means you want to

do a ToyCast episode, right? Well, no, I don't

want to do it right now. I mean, I have no problem

doing ToyCast. I like ToyCast. You like the new

intro? Yeah! We shouldn't be talking about that

on Beast Unleashed, but... Yeah, that's something

I forgot to bring up. But anyways, so I guess

I'm just going to go straight into the outro.
