Fact or Fiction and The Jinx Review

The basics, because today we're doing one of

our very first games. We do it every so often,

and that is the classic game of fact or fiction.

Simple enough. If you listen to this podcast,

you've probably heard us do it before. Let us

talk about a variety of different topics. Before

we get to that classic game, how's the week been

going for you guys? Cue the theme song! With

the new improved theme song. How's the week been

going, Greg? It was good until I was just late

for recording this podcast because I fell asleep.

It seems like on Thursday nights, I like to fall

asleep a lot. All the other nights of the week,

I'm up usually. So yeah, that's fun. Through

the miracle of science, we will still be bringing

you this podcast at the same time on Tuesday.

We'll not be late. I might post it like 20 minutes

late just to be ironic. Other than sleeping through

that, I'm pretty good. I'm not looking forward

to this weekend because I have to go take photos

of kids with the Easter Bunny. So I am not looking

forward to that. Is it me or is it like every

Easter Bunny always look evil? I think ours ours

looks plenty evil, but I think uh, we don't have

the costume that we use I think the the place

that we are going has the costume for us So I

I will let you know if it's scary as hell something

about the big eyes that don't blink It just looks

I don't know. It just looks freaky Yeah, the

costume we have at work has huge eyes and the

head itself is humongous compared to the rest

of the body It's such a weird thing though. The

whole easter bunny like what it like that's such

a I don't know Why would you let that creepy

thing bring candy to your children? You're a

mammal You're not a platypus like maybe it was

like the platypus bunny or wait No, the Easter

platypus would make more sense, but I want an

Easter platypus. That sounds awesome Yeah, that'd

be yeah and make more sense because they have

eggs and they they're let's be honest The platypus

is the badass of the animal kingdom. We probably

it is Yes, please, please when you raise your

kid have the Easter platypus instead of the Easter.

I will do that. That is that is planned. That

is the first thing that we're going to do is

we're going to start a tradition, the Easter

platypus. But your wife will be pissed at you.

I doubt you. I don't know. I don't think you

care. Easter's not a big thing for us, so I didn't

even know when it was this year, be honest with

you. Except for the times that it lands on my

birthday, I have no idea. I just know because

the Sunday before Easter, the Monday after Easter,

I'm leaving to go to Miami, so that's what I'm

looking for. Nice! I would do the whole song,

but nobody actually knows that song. Hey, I've

been singing it for weeks. I'm not going to lie.

I bought the album, Big Willie style, you know,

it happened. We all have dance all night till

the break of dawn. Apparently Chuck did too.

Cause I have, I have forgotten all of this. So

it's a catchy tune. It's a catchy tune. Yeah.

But speaking, speaking of the week, how's your

week been going Chuck? Not too bad. The saga

continued with our flood in our office. They

tried like drying it out every and everything

they brought these professionals in and stuff,

but Apparently it didn't do as good of a job

as they thought. What's that? We're one of their

names Leon No, they were not everyone I never

actually watched that movie. So thanks for the

quote, dude Not even once in by him. It's said

by Gary Oldman and one of like the best like

over -the -top Things ever in movies. It's great

So yeah, we we found out we're gonna be Sort

of displaced longer than we thought which really

sucks. They have us like in this conference room

I think I was talking about it last week, but

we're basically set up like a computer lab in

college So there's like people right next to

you like working and it's like super awkward

and of course, there's like people across from

you so you're like always making awkward eye

contact every time you look around. You have

people like you just started to get acquainted

with people's really annoying habits like and

I mean you know you do your best like you know

everybody's different everybody's got their own

quirks and everything and that's fine but it's

just difficult to deal with you know sometimes

when you're in close quarters like that and you

have like 20 some people in a room together.

But it was funny today because they decided to

finally close off that whole wing which for some

reason they waited this long So they wanted to

make sure the mold actually settled into your

lungs So they put plastic up and everything and

they started like duct taping the plastic and

like totally sealing off this thing and you know

they put like a sign on it like no admittance

like beyond this point like no exceptions and

like all this stuff they sent emails they made

announcements over the pa system so like everybody

knew you know it was it was well known so i'm

walking down the hallway past this door that

goes to that wing somebody in a slow motion chuck

no like i hear the door open like behind the

plastic And I'm like, what the hell? So like

I just figured it was like a construction worker,

like doing something. So I kind of kept walking,

but I was like looking back and all of a sudden

I see like the plastic coming apart and like

someone like fumbling to get through it like

a curtain on a stage. So this guy freaking like

pops out and then his girlfriend pops out after

him. So like this guy comes out and like the.

That's in charge of our whole building. Like

the head of maintenance happened to be walking

by at the exact same time. He just, he just throws

his hands up. He's like, what the hell? And the

best way I could describe it was when he's come

out of this plastic, he looked like Jim Carrey

coming out of the rhino. So there was about four

or five of us in the hallway. That's not happened.

And we were laughing our asses off because I'm

like pretty hot in those rhinos. And like, everyone

knew what I meant, so that was hilarious. It

was a funny moment. I love that. That's awesome.

So did you find out why he was even back there?

Did he just, like, forget or something? Well,

see, like, I guess there's another way around

that, like, wasn't blocked off yet or something.

So he kind of, like, came out and, I guess, didn't

realize that it was blocked off until he, like,

opened the door. So he just figured, like, what

the hell? I might as well just go through, just

power through, I guess. That's awesome. Wow.

Yeah, I don't have the great stories. I uh, I

don't know. I didn't get a promotion at work

So that's kind of cool. But uh, what is up with

your work? They're so awesome. They're always

giving you promotions. Holy shit I love it's

like that's where you go to what's with your

work and giving you I don't know just it's a

growing company. So it's like when you grow there's

Are you like the owner now? no no um just it's

like it almost feels like i'm just getting the

title of that i had responsibility for so but

no it's kind of cool that's actually it's interesting

my first week at my new position and i'll be

on vacation so there you go in miami way to start

yeah yeah starting off like a boss as you are

one just doesn't want one position he wants all

positions Reusing the joke. Thank you very much

Yeah, hey gotta be versatile, right? But besides

that Why we gotta even better though when I get

a text from Greg? regarding some news that dropped

about a sequel that apparently is happening and

about one of our personal favorite films super

troopers and the fact that super troopers to

wall is Fully fine. Well, it started on any yoga

and it's already been fully funded It's raised

like two million dollars and like eight hours

or something like that something crazy But did

you guys see the I mean Greg obviously you saw

that they're they're in the process. They're

trying to make super troopers, too Yeah, they

are. I'm I'm I'm actually very excited about

that. I was gonna actually try and donate money,

but I've been having credit card issues. So yeah,

I haven't done that. So hopefully I'll still

be able to donate. I think that's an ongoing

thing. I believe they're trying to get even more

than two million. I think that was like the first

goal, right? And then they have stretch goals

after that. Yeah, I'm not sure about the stretch

goals, but anything that they make after the

two million, the two million is like the bare

minimum to make the movie. But any money after

that is going to. Improve upon the movie and

make it better So in case they want to CGI in

a dinosaur or something that can happen if more

people donate money We're gonna like, you know

throw in like every licensed song ever Have Brian

Cox fist -fighting a t -rex Would totally watch

that that sounds awesome, but but yeah, I'm really

excited for that. They've been doing a lot of

promotion There's supposedly a new clip up every

day for their Indiegogo page them in character

I'm doing awesome stuff Like locking farva into

a trunk Hopefully we don't have to see his penis

again and sugar is delicious, but every other

they did a ask me anything on reddit or ask us

anything on Reddit, as they called it. And they

did a special podcast that Kevin and Steve Lemmy

on their chewing it podcast. It was the whole

crew doing that. So except for Paul Soder, he

wasn't in the room at the time, but they're they're

putting out a lot of cool stuff to promote the

movie. So, yeah. So Chuck, you excited as well?

Oh, yeah, I'm definitely excited. That was a

pretty funny movie. I saw that like a while ago.

I think I've seen it a couple of times, but it's

been a while since I've seen it, even since the

last time. But there's obviously some infamous

lines that always live on. And I thought it was

kind of funny in the little thing that Greg sent

to us about their quotes and how they sort of

use those quotes that they came up with in their

everyday life, which I thought was hilarious.

Like when he's zooming in on the picture, he's

like, enhance, enhance. Classic it's kind of

funny just looking at the video and realizing

they look exactly the same and it's kind of creepy

It's you know, it's like eight ten years later

and they I don't know apparently the super troopers

diets working out for him Well, Jake shaker.

Have we say his last name which is impossible

by anybody with white skin He he looks a little

chubbier at this point, but he still looks pretty

damn close I mean his mustache though. I mean,

they're pretty they're pretty stat. I mean His

mustache was extra fluffy. Yeah. Yeah, they got

that down. I'm pretty jealous man Like movember

they're they're gonna win that for sure But yeah,

I I might donate as well. I don't be kind of

cool with that You know, it seems like it might

get an actual release or video on demand thing.

So Interest and I've been talking about it forever.

So it finally actually seems like it's happening.

It's funny I think when I saw super troopers,

I already heard like all the quotes before I

ever watched it But it was interesting because

I felt like that movie it didn't do well in the

theater But it just grew like I remember in our

high school and like after college became like

this huge thing that everyone talked about So

it's sort of like a cult following that came

after the fact. Yeah So do you guys think like,

do you want to see like a lot of references to

the old one or do you want to see more of like

new material and new funny things and stuff?

I think you do a combo of both. You definitely

hit back and kind of do a little wink to the

past movie, but you definitely need to have the

characters move on a little bit just to give

them a little bit more depth and feeling, I think.

Yeah, I don't think you can just kind of rely

on it I mean, I think you kind of have to do

a little bit of references because that's probably

what people are expecting but yeah I hope those

aren't like the main jokes and those are just

like the side gags here and there or or if if

maybe some of the references are just so obscure

that you may not even notice them unless you're

really familiar with it, but I think that's the

that's the issue a lot of sequels for comedies

fall into where it's like You want to be like

the other one, but you don't want to do the same

choke. So it becomes really hard because there

are not many great sequels for comedies and hopefully

doesn't follow that same trend. But what about

you? Do you, do you, would you want to see new

stuff or some references to the old? I think

I'd like to see a good, a good mix of it, but

I think they, I think they should do just more

than a couple of references to the. the old one

I like like you said like some subtle ones here

and there but sort of sprinkle them throughout

the whole movie like you know obviously like

a new adventure and you know a new plot line

what they're doing and everything but just a

nod every now and then just I think would be

pretty sweet and then come up with some new uh

some new games or whatever they're gonna do yeah

like the meow game or the chugging of maple syrup

So yeah, yeah, I mean there's you can kind of

do what they did But just do it a little differently

you can kind of get the best of both worlds So

as long as it's better than that other movie

that the that they made What was that movie where

they're all on the island or whatever? That was

club dread and that it was such a different take

It was you know, kind of like a take on that

horror films in some ways So it's been a while

since I watched that I remember not looking at

the time But I don't know if that was just because

I was expecting something like super troopers

and I got something a lot different. So Yeah,

I mean, there are some funny lines in it and

stuff like, uh, I remember they played with like

the accent a little bit with, uh, with the wise

and stuff, like saying them like a J and there

were some funny lines with that and stuff. But

overall, the movie just was kind of terrible.

Yeah, they haven't really, they haven't really,

uh, been had much luck outside of. Well beer

first was was decent. I didn't enjoy that. That

was probably that super troopers I haven't seen

like slammin sammy or something like that or

slammin salmon slammin salmon I don't know. I'd

have you did you see that great? Uh, no, I have

not but I haven't seen um club dread I haven't

seen that one and I haven't seen Uh, what was

it? There was another one that they had too that

I that I haven't seen uh, but I've mostly just

seen beer fest and super troopers super troopers

is by far one of my my favorite stuff i don't

know how to do segue to what i'm going to talk

about because it's completely different from

super troopers 2 but i didn't get a chance chance

to watch something and uh i don't know if you

guys heard about this it's been in the news a

lot lately it's a reference to an hbo mini series

called the jinx everybody on uh uh like social

media and um Different podcasts and stuff that

I listened to I've been talking about that. Yeah,

it's family. I'm on the wrong social media I

have not heard about that. It's also it's been

on the news too. It's well the series centers

on Robert Durst who comes from a family This

real he's Fred Durst father. Yes He comes from

he comes from this real estate family in New

York City that they're pretty astound like they

are the ones responsible for the Freedom Tower

but he's kind of like the the Sun they would

like to forget and He's older now he's in the

60s or so, but he's been connected the three

well two murders and one disappearance one was

the disappearance of his wife in the 80s another

one was a murder of his friend and this the other

one was a murder of his neighbor and the weird

thing about that one is it was the 70 year old

neighbor and In this apartment complex that he

was staying at under a fake woman's name because

he was cross -dressing at the time and he was

put on trial for killing that person but in chopping

the body up and like throwing it into the river

and the thing is he got acquitted for that because

he argued stuff the fence and he was acquitted

by the jury so anyways but the the crux of the

of the documentary focuses on him in his life

and it's an interesting take The story behind

it is almost interesting as a documentary, because

the director, Andrew Durecki, he made this film

in 2010 called All Good Things, which was inspired

by the life of Robert Durst. Well, after that

was released, Robert Durst calls the director

and asks to sit down to do an interview with

him, and then that's where this just takes off.

So this documentary took five years to make and

the main focus is these interviews the director

has with Robert Durst in their conversation and

Robert Durst is such, he's such a strange man.

It's like he's eccentric. It's like he doesn't

know how to be human. It's so weird the way his

talks, his gestures. He's really blunt and the

things you would hear him say it just it sounds

like he doesn't he just Doesn't fit into the

norms of any society. It's like this guy just

doesn't belong here It's it's really captivating

to watch and there's been a lot of talk about

like the ending of it because of what happens

I don't want to spoil or anything, you know,

it's in the news but I think even without the

ending was really a great documentary because

It wasn't really like, did he do these murders

or didn't he? Was he guilty or innocent? It was

just like who he was and trying to just investigate

that and, you know, everything that goes along

with it. So it was a combination of that story,

investigating journalism and just some also reenactments

that were done, but really done well. It's a

brilliantly made documentary and like Robert

Durst himself, like if you didn't realize this

was based on a true story, you would think it's

fake. when he was put on trial for the murder

in Galveston, Texas for the 70 -year -old man

that he killed, he went on the run. And the way

he got caught was when he was in Pennsylvania,

he stole a hoagie from Wegmans. And the thing

is, he had $25 ,000 in cash on him. So he didn't

need to steal it, he just kind of did, I guess

because. well those hoagies are so delicious

dan that is really true but it's like he it seems

like he's a type of person who is doing things

and life is just too boring for him so he's just

trying to make it more difficult but putting

him in situations and seeing well let's see if

I can get out of this just for shits and giggles

it's like this whole interview seems to be that

purpose it's almost like he's just testing himself

it's like you play a video game and it's too

easy so you just keep upping the difficulty levels

and make it harder and harder it's like him with

life he just he gets away with so much and he's

been you know set for his entire life he never

really has to work so this is like what he does

it's it's Really captivating and a lot of people

have compared it to this I don't know if you

heard about the series serial which was an NPR

podcast That centered on a murder that happened

in Baltimore and a lot of people compared them

because that was kind of a similar situation

where you had a murder case and But the difference

between that was what they were looking at was

if the person who was arrested Was rightfully

arrested or not, but so they they're they're

both true crimes, but they're a lot different

I think if you like eat I think you would like

you feel like one you're probably gonna like

the other I think that jinx is most is better

But it's also it's hard to compare because once

a audio documentary once a physical documentary,

but I don't know I thought It was excellent.

I wanted to see it from the beginning and the

funny thing is like when it when I saw a preview

for it on HBO I told my wife I'm like, hey, we

should watch this you're gonna really like it

cuz she likes true crime stuff like that She

loved the serial podcast and she's like, yeah.

All right. I don't know it took You know what

five six weeks ago, but go by then she's talking

to people out here in office We're all talking

about it. She comes home one day like we should

watch the jinx I'm like really trying to do that

for five weeks or so For people at work tough,

but yeah, so it's it's it's great. I would definitely

recommend it really to from anyone who likes

that type of stuff or just like it's just it's

really an odd story and even if you just read

about it it's just it's weird that like I knew

nothing about any of this and I guess it was

a huge story but I completely was off my radar

until I heard about the documentary so it's an

excellent I really loved it it's uh it's one

of those things where it's like I can't believe

I'm seeing and I we marathon the six at six episodes

about 45 minutes each and we watch the whole

thing in like a weekend We're like, oh just watch

one episode and then you know one ends. You're

like, okay. Well, we're gonna watch the next

one we can't stop here and There's just some

fascinating television. I mean, there's some

fudging with the timeline and what they do especially

in the last episode But still it's great build

up. It's just it's excellent It is one of the

best things I've seen on TV in quite a while.

So That's pretty much all I got. Did you guys

get a chance to watch anything? I know, Chuck,

you didn't. Greg, I wasn't sure if you... I haven't

read anything really that big. I've been reading

some new stuff coming out from Image. I don't

really have too much to say. Crononauts is really

good so far. That kind of lives up to the hype.

It kind of has this great going out to the beyond

time travel feel to it, which it should, because

it's about time travel. Mark Miller has already

like, it just came out like last week or two

weeks ago, if we're saying. With the whole time

for podcast coming out and everything situation.

It's time travel. It's weird. So Yeah, I had

to think about it for a second. It's complicated.

But yeah, it's really good and it's already being

picked up for I forget whether it's TV or Movie,

is there anything that mark Miller does that

doesn't get made into TV or movie? I feel like

that guy Like scientist name. It's like we should

probably make this into a movie somehow. Well,

I was talking to our comics provider that that's

the owner of comics on the green Dave and he's

like, yeah, they just instantly he even said

that they instantly just make whatever he has

into a TV show or movies or anything because

he just had out Kingsman was based on stuff that

he wrote which was pretty good. kind of fell

into a couple of cliche kind of things for me,

but it was still really good. So yeah, that was

really good. I'm trying to think of the other

stuff. Uh, did I, did I mention, uh, big man

plans at all to you guys? No. Do you have any

big man plans? It's a comic. I think it came

out like a couple of weeks ago. It's, uh, by

Eric Powell and I forget who, who co -wrote it

with him, but, uh, Eric Powell is the artist

and one of the co -writers on it. And that book

was really good. I highly recommend it if you

kind of like a little bit hyper violence type

of thing, kind of like a Punisher type character,

but kind of in the realm of what's his name from

Game of Thrones, Tywin. Yeah. So you've got this

little person out who's kind of pissed off. He's

gone through the Vietnam War and got into that.

It's very cool. It's one of my most favorite

things that has come out recently. The artwork

by Eric Powell is great. If you've read The Goon,

which is also one of his comics, it's the artwork

is of course very similar to that except without

the the old school cartoony feel of like Popeye

characters it doesn't have that it's a little

bit stays a little bit more focused on a real

graphics I highly recommend that one I wouldn't

recommend it for you Chuck I don't think you

would enjoy it I don't think you're into the

kind of hyper violence and I think it can be

a little bit offensive One of my favorite parts

is during the Vietnam War, they threw him down.

The Vietnamese would always do stuff underground.

They always had like these little foxholes that

they would bury themselves in. And it was tough

to find them because they were underground. And

so it made them really tough to fight. It was

a very guerrilla warfare. But they used to send

in this, according to this comic, they used to

send a trained people one was a guy that was

like cut off at the waist like he had issues

below the waist some kind of something happened

to him where he was paralyzed and some really

super skinny guy and then they have the little

person and they just tossed the little person

down and he's got a gun and a knife and he goes

to town on the vietnamese viet Can't say Vietnamese

Vietnamese, right? Nailed it I am still not up

yet. So It was it's pretty sweet. So I recommend

that Cool. Alrighty some good recommends going

on. I never heard of a lot of those comics So

I might have to check them out. Are they are

they done through Marvel or image or? Um, I know

Chrononauts is done through Image. They have

a lot of stuff coming out, actually. I am surprised

by how much is actually coming out from Image.

I feel like every time I go to the comic book

store, they have a new title out, but I don't

remember who publishes Big Man plans. I'm not

quite sure. I'm not sure if it's Dark Horse or

actually Image, so I'm not too sure about that.

simply respond by saying if that statement is

fact or is it fiction and then explain why. It's

pretty simple, pretty straightforward. I guess

I'll start off and the ones I have this week

actually, we typically brand them for each other

and we may have some ones that are more general.

We'll see how it goes. My very first one, I think

mostly towards Chuck, but Greg, I'm sure you'll

have an opinion on this as well. Cue the theme

song! I was gonna put it in the beginning. I

know, I was being an ass again. It's hard to

tell. You guys are asses. What my first one is

in pretty soon the daredevil series will be coming

out and looking at the success of Looking at

the upcoming success of the flash arrow and you

know new series that are coming out like I mentioned

daredevil Supergirls coming on as well Looking

at that. He's lesbian Would you be that surprised?

You really hear what you want to hear, don't

you? Yes, I do. I'm pretty sure that would get

a lot more viewership if she was actually lesbian

in the show and she's, like, making out with

a whole bunch of people. Might not be on CBS

though. That might be the Showtime Supergirl.

Awesome, they're gonna make that? Yeah, Showtime

Supergirl. That does sound like some sort of

Skinimax show or something like that, but...

Considering the fact that those shows are successful,

or the potential of, and seem to be pretty doored

by fans universally, has television surpassed

movies as the place to tell comic book stories?

Not necessarily which one's better, but that

TV is a better place to tell comic book stories

than movies. Is that fact, or is that fiction,

Chuck? I think it's fiction. I don't think it's

quite at the level of... the silver screen yet.

Like I think it's what it is. It's a good proving

ground. It's a good testing ground to sort of

see, you know, the taste of the fans out there

and sort of what they can get away with, what

directions they can go. And maybe maybe the companies

can sort of use that to sort of follow those

same lines in the movies that they're going to

make. Like, you know, DC obviously has all these

movies that they're planning now. And I think

You know, I think they're going to obviously

look at how flash and arrow are doing and Supergirl

and they're going to take some of those elements

and use them in their movies. But just the financial

thing aside, I mean, that's that's the obvious

part. Movies make a lot more money, but I still

think the movies are the king right now. Greg,

do you agree or do you think TV is becoming a

better spot to tell comic book stories and movies?

Well, according to all the other podcasts that

I listen to, television is a better place in

general to tell stories. And I kind of agree

with that. You get more time to tell the stories.

You don't have to fit it into this two -hour

period. You could tell different storylines.

You don't have to have people wait as long. for

different storylines to come out or different

characters to be involved. So I think it's definitely

satiating the viewership better than the movies.

I think it makes the story a lot better. I don't

think the production is as nice though. It can

be better. Yeah, I can get like story agents

of shield and now like long and drawn out Yeah,

sometimes having more time is not a good thing

I think in theory like you're what you're saying

Greg makes a lot of sense Yeah, like the fact

that you can elongate stories and you're not

you don't have to plant cram everything into

like a two hour long movie or Look at age of

all time drawn, which is supposed to be two hours

and 40 minutes. Oh shit, really? Yeah, that's

it's running time as of as of right now I mean

you can get you can get really long movies and

so or so maybe that'll be better. I I think right

now it's fiction because I think it's the production

like as we mentioned it's not nearly to that

level and Sometimes it's just you don't have

the quality talent there yet Like if you're gonna

ask me what's a better story the Dark Knight

or arrow. I'm gonna go Dark Knight Yeah, five

years down the line. Let's just say I think Eventually,

the best place for comic book stories might be

TV, but I don't think we're there quite yet because

it allows you to build that universe a lot more

cohesively and without it really taking away

from your movie. But I don't think we're there

yet. And I just if you're going to ask if I had

a choice between watching the Avengers or watching

a season of the agents of shield. That's a good

point about the talent though cuz like so many

of these shows and especially the ones on the

CW like sort of like You know, this is like the

first major outing for a lot of these actors

like it's kind of their first gig and it's a

place for them to get started but Yeah, yeah,

I mean a lot of them are good actors or like

you have a combination of You know old -school

character actors have been in tons of different

things with young up -and -coming actors who

are just kind of getting their their teeth cut,

which is, is that the right saying? I always

feel like that's the way to say it. I know, that

sounds like it hurts. Yeah, cutting teeth, it

just gives me, gives me dreams of going to the

dentist. It gives you that chill you get when

you hear styrofoam rubbing together. Oh, God.

go with fiction because I think it's still working

less than I think it's probably it's probably

some good places I still need to take you and

we need to go, you know to get it the ultimate

burger place cuz yeah You can never call it finished

unless you've been to every place in the world,

but I still have to go to ho dad's it is amazing

California. I go there with my boss when we go

to Comic Con. No, but it's delicious. I love

the milkshakes that you get there because it

has like, they fill up that silver container

and then they have like a glass little thing

set up for you and on the the silver container

that they mix it in there's still a shit ton

of milkshake and then they have this huge huge

hunk of ice cream stuck on the side of that which

you have to like eat half of it first and it's

melting all over the table and everything oh

it's so good i love milkshakes i gotta say like

i do have a lot of favorite burgers right now

and i'm not afraid to go with some chain places

like you know tj fridays and stuff they have

a really good burger that i like there Let's

get this weird, like, bacon jam stuff on, which

sounds nasty, but it's actually really good.

Bacon jam and some other types of jam you get

as well. Yeah. But I think one of my favorites

is actually a place pretty close to Dan, which

was Chicken Rooster Deli, which was on Man vs.

Food as well. Oh yeah, in Annapolis. Their burger

was amazing. Their beef is just really, really

high quality. Where's the beef? I don't know,

are some of your factor fictions? Let's see.

Well, I was a total nerd, and I did assign them

to you guys individually. Oh, that's fine. I

usually do, but I just, for whatever reason,

my brain wouldn't work that way. So I just did

some general ones. Let's see. I'll start off

with an easy one, and then I'll get a little

bit more intriguing. I'll start with you, Dan.

Factor fiction. Age of Ultron will be the best

Marvel movie to date. Funny, I almost made one

like this too. When you say Marvel, do you mean

Marvel in general, including X -Men? Just referring

to the MCU movies. I say fiction. I don't see

it being better than Winter Soldier. Being able

to like winter soldier was able to tell a really

great story That was really cohesive and I feel

like with the Avengers and I'm a little worried

that it's two hours and 40 minutes I feel like

that's gonna be a little bit a little bit too

much. So I think it'll be great. I think it'd

be fun. But As an overall quality film, I don't

think it's gonna get to the level of winter soldier

Greg you want to try a minute? I would like it

to be the best one, but I'm going to also go

with fiction. Yeah, I definitely think Winter

Soldier was definitely something that was really

hard to top. And I think also Guardians is something

that's really hard to top now as well. So that's

a tough one. I'm hoping for a solid third at

least. My little worry too is that what was great

about the Avengers was like seeing him together

for the first time. Now we saw that. So can you

like, you don't have that luxury and now you

have to top yourself. I have loved everything

I saw about Ultron. He's been really like, I've

loved every little bit we've gone, but I don't

know. I'm just, I guess I don't want to hype

myself up too much. Yeah. You're basically, you're

wondering if they can reproduce that sense of

wonder that you get with the first one. I'm going

to say it has a good shot to be the best. I did

love Winter Soldier a great deal, and it's going

to be really hard to top that. But I have a feeling

they're going to have some big reveals in this

movie. And I think that epic sort of nature is

going to come out in this one. And you're going

to get that sense of wonder and those shock factors.

I mean, maybe plotline. You know might not be

as well done or well executed as Winter Soldier

But I think it's it's gonna be a fun movie right

up there with like Guardians and Winter Soldier

So all right Greg you are up and Probably we'll

be able to see why this one's tailored to you,

but factor fiction Deadpool will only work as

a movie if it's given an R rating Exactly the

same question Man you've been doing this for

too long I'll go with fact. He's a very bloody

Violent character and that's one of the things

that makes him so fun I think they can do it

with like a PG -13 But I would much rather it

with an R. It would make it extra special if

it if it had the R rating So I'll go with fact

on that I'll agree. I think it in order for it

to really fit the character and just it's is

overall just crazy nice. I think you do You get

away with a lot with PG -13, but I think it'd

be great if you had that over -the -top Quentin

Tarantino level of violence, because I think

that'd be great for a Daredevil film. Not Daredevil,

but a Deadpool film, and I think it set itself

apart from everything else. Especially, you know,

he's the mark with the mouth. If you censor him

or tape his mouth shut, you won't have that.

What about if they sew his mouth shut? Oh, God,

I hated that. Don't open those ones. Oh, they

should open that wound. They should open his

mouth. I would tend to agree with you guys. Honestly,

like, it doesn't seem like our movies are that

bad anymore. Like, I don't know. Maybe I haven't

seen the right ones, but I can show you some

ones. You'd be like, yeah, that that wasn't.

Oh, yeah. Yeah, I don't know. I've seen a couple

that it's like, it's not really that bad. I don't

see what the big deal is. But yes, I think it'd

work better. They should almost make it a snuff

film. Well, it's kind of funny when you look

at, like, the ratings of things now, because

the King's Speech was rated R because it said

the F word, but then you have, like, Dark Knight,

which is pretty violent, is PG -13. So it is,

the whole rating system is kind of, kind of crazy,

but I don't know, that's a whole nother discussion.

Alrighty, moving back over to me, and this is,

let's switch things up a little bit. I have two

sports questions, all, and two separate ones.

I guess you can both chime in, but they're more

directed towards your favorite teams. Chuck,

I'll start with you. With the recent acquisitions

and moves, the Miami Dolphins will finally end

the Patriots streak of winning the AFC East.

I had a really similar question. Let me answer

mine first. It's fact. Adrian Peterson will be

back with the Vikings. Nice, nice, good job.

really was that. It was exactly that. Nice. As

soon as I heard yours, I'm like, I know what

mine's going to be. It's tough because you hate

to judge with emotion. Obviously, I love the

dolphins and hate the freaking patriots. Don't

the due factor. I think the Patriots are going

to fall. I don't know. I like Miami's quarterback,

Tannahill. I think he's been getting better every

year. And I think this will be his fourth year.

And I think he'll kind of break out. He's got

some new receivers there and stuff. The line's

getting better. The defense is getting better.

What the heck, awesome fact. Question for you,

if you had to choose and it was the Patriots

winning the AFC East or the Jets winning the

AFC East, which one would you choose? At this

point, I would choose the Jets because Rex Ryan

isn't there anymore. I can't stand him. Him and

his foot fetish. Oh, that's creepy. Oh, great.

So in your right, Greg, my question was that

Adrian Beeson would be bad for the Vikings and

you said fiction or fact. Yeah. It's so weird.

I feel like they're both going to self -destruct

each other. I think Peterson wants out, and the

Vikings have no clue what to do. I think they're

just going to keep them there to torture them.

I heard the Cardinals were looking at AP, the

Cowboys were looking at AP, but they definitely

picked up a dude from Raiders, McFadden. So I

don't think Dallas is involved anymore. So it's

either between Arizona and the Vikings and the

Vikings seem like they're just like. Not gonna

let him go for what whatever reason I think AP

definitely wants to leave So yeah, I'm not sure

which if I want it to happen or if I don't want

it to happen It's definitely not cool to hit

kids and one of the reasons I liked him is because

I thought he was kind of level -headed and that

was kind of proven a bit wrong in recent dates,

so Yeah, I don't know I guess If the vikings

want him, let me put it this way I think he's

either playing with the vikings this year or

he's not playing at all, uh, because I don't

see I don't know maybe he holds out to try to

trade him But I maybe they just don't feel like

they'll get anything enough back for him. I'm

fiction? Yeah, I also have a football one Factor

fiction guys, the eagles have no clue what's

going on Greg you want to start with that one?

Sure. Uh I'll say fiction. I think you kind of

have to let Chip Kelly have a little bit of reigns

there and let him do what he wants. I think the

way his offense is set up, they can use a lot

of different weapons. Everyone was shocked, including

me, when they got rid of Lushan McCoy. But look

who they got. They got DeMarco Murray, who was

the rushing champion last year. They still have

Darren Sproles, who was a great weapon for them

last year, picked up another guy, Ryan Matthews

from the Chargers. I mean, they did lose the

receiver Macklin, but he's the guy who knows

how to plug in, you know, variables and make

some weapons. I think it's more about the system

to him and like what guys fit best in his system.

And, you know, I heard some. You know possibly

there were some troubles with some of the guys

he got rid of there. So I say trust him for now

and see see what happens Yeah, as much as I would

love to say it's fact. I i'm gonna go with fiction

too for me i'd rather LaShawn mccrory over to

marco murray, but I think mccrory gives you more

options But I get why they did that though. I

thought they overpaid for For marco murray. I

mean to me he was more of a product of a really

great offensive line So I think the cowboys will

be fine, but I don't know i'm gonna Think like

is a type of coach who just likes to put people

trade I don't really seem to understand a whole

lot just because Bradford is like an injury waiting

who Based upon the last thing I read that he

his draft stock is falling because of his pro

day recently. So I don't know. He could also

be looking more long term and that would be my

guess. But yeah, as much as I would love to say

they have no idea what they're doing, I think

going to work completely. My only thing that

they've done so far that I have that I question

is trading for Bradford, not because. Folds is

a great quarterback just because they're possibly

giving up a second round draft pick and if Bradford

gets it gets hurt It's what uh, who's your who's

their backup? Mark Sanchez, right? Mark Sanchez

is your back He was alright last year, but he

clearly was not that greatest. He lost a lot

of games for them So that's if anything, he's

not valuing the quarterback nearly as much as

he should but it's not like fold is a big loss

he He was a backup quarterback to me and he he

did as best as he possibly could Bradford probably

has a bigger ceiling It's the thing is maybe

sure he doesn't knock his head on that ceiling

and get out for eight years. So But uh, yeah,

a thrill hunting down those old issues because

it is a hunt. They're rarer than the new ones,

which you could get freaking anywhere at this

point. You could just go onto your iPad and just

download them. which they're kind of doing with

the old ones, but the old ones definitely have

more of a nostalgia feel. It's definitely cooler

to get a physical copy of those. I think for

comic collectors, it's definitely that grail

piece. I can look forward to getting a new comic,

but it's definitely not up to that same rush

level, especially with the amount of money difference

with what you're spending on a comic book. There's

not much monetary difference, is there? Oh, yeah,

the X -Man number one was only a couple thousand.

Dan, what say you? I go with fat, because usually

if you're buying an old comic, it's probably

not going to disappoint you. So you have that

going for you. A new comic, you never know. And

two, with a new comic, the ads get in the way.

With an old comic the ads enhance it because

it's just like looking at stuff from your child

Like i'd love that and they're like i remember

that or So it's uh, or just there's old ads for

like random marvel stuff That would be like you

wouldn't like mail away stuff remember the charles

atlas bodybuilding heads The scrawny guy in the

beach leave more personality to them, you know

and it's like you said completing that set and

like finding that one you've been looking for

for a while or Or one that like you see and you

never heard about and just the cover reminds

you of something or it's like Oh, this is from

that storyline that I've been looking for. So

it's uh, it's yeah, I agree I go with fact. I

think there's more to getting old stuff than

new stuff. Yeah It's definitely a rush and it's

I think like especially the older ones like a

couple of ones that greg got like you you feel

like you're a part of that history now because

you have it and i think that's part of the rush

so much nostalgia tied in with that and it's

like you know you have old time comic fans that

grew up in that time period with it um who admire

it and then you have new ones who sort of admire

it so you've you feel like you're part of this

like history even more than just You know, going

out and buying a new one off the newsstand or

I get a rush and I love, I love like old like

cover shopping, basically just looking for like

great covers. Like that's just one of my favorite

new DuckTales cartoon will be less enjoyable

we watched an old DuckTales cartoon and they

one I have There was a new story recently regarding

Jim Parsons And I don't know if you saw but he

wants to play an iconic villain for Batman. I

have heard this So my question for you is Jim

Parsons who plays Sheldon on Big Bang Theory.

He would make an ideal Riddler, fact or fiction.

Greg, I'll start with you. Physically, I would

say fact. I'm a little bit more iffy on personality

and if he could hit into that role because so

I haven't really seen anything him with him playing

something besides little bit more meek. Yes,

Sheldon is a little bit fussy and he'll be a

little demanding, but it definitely comes from

a place of meekness and being a little bit scared,

so I'm not sure how to actually play that way,

but I'll just have faith that he would do an

awesome Riddler and go with fact all the way

around that he's gonna be an awesome, that he

would be an awesome Riddler. Chuck what say you

um, I'm gonna go fiction. I feel like I feel

like everyone would it's kind of making that

connection just because of his like because of

his role in Big Bang just like his intelligence

and is just sort of the the way he speaks and

that you know that Sort of highfalutin vocabulary

that he has like I feel like people are making

that connection, but I that's not like Entirely

what the Riddler is about like I'm not sure if

he could pull off that dark side of the character

like I know obviously the Jim Carrey version

and stuff like that was pretty corny we can kind

of throw that out but like the Riddler is like

you know yeah he's he speaks in Riddler's in

Riddler's? he speaks in Riddler's he speaks in

Riddlin' no that's not gonna be the new version

of Riddlin' it's gonna be bouncing around like

a pinball But yeah, he speaks in riddles riddles,

and Jim Parsons get that dark. I mean, maybe

he could Haven't really seen it. I haven't seen

fiction to just because Especially coming from

the such a popular role like that. It's gonna

be hard for him to shed that Shed that Sheldon

should stop making Avengers movies and focus

be the last Avengers movie ever and they would

move on to new characters. Is that? That's something

Marvel should do so fact or is that fiction Greg?

I don't think they'll do that I know they won't

but I'm gonna go with fiction. I I gotta see

the more the groups together I It doesn't have

to be the the same group like Captain America

Iron Man and all the Thor and Hulk it doesn't

have to be those guys, but you could definitely

have different Marvel characters inserted in

is after Avengers infinity war Where more can

you go to with the Avengers? You know, I mean

maybe they'll find the spot I mean you guys make

a good point me brief new characters, but I mean

think about seeing new band the same band with

new members is again It's gonna would that work

at all? I I don't know. I think it's going to

be hard after the Second of Indefinity War one.

So I don't know. If they're going to do characters

like Doctor Strange, the Inhumans, maybe a different

directions in order, but we'll see. I'm sure

they're going to make them. Maybe they'll go

or fiction, the Academy Awards should listen

to James Gunn and give more nomination consideration

to superhero movies. I'll go with fact because

I really don't care about award shows that much

because they're boring as hell. So yeah, give

whatever movie you want. If it's popular, give

it an award. I would say fiction. Well, I would

say fiction in the fact that they should recognize

them, but fiction that they need to do it more.

The biggest probably snub was in 2008 when Dark

Knight didn't get nominated for Best Picture

and probably should have in the field that was

there. But I don't know if there's any other

ones. You can maybe make an argument for Winter

Soldier this year, but... I don't know. I think

the academy Superheroes movies have enough tension

as they need. I mean, they're huge box offices.

They don't really need the academy awards I mean

the academy awards probably need superhero movies

more than vice versa But i'd like the academy

awards like to honor smaller films that you can

get More attention to like a whiplash or something

like that like movies that no one else would

really hear it A lot of people wouldn't hear

of it wasn't for them. So, you know to me it

just seems like it's just like icing on top of

a very A huge cake with a lot of icing already.

You know, it's like putting chocolate syrup on

top of birthday cake. It's just like a little

too much Yeah, it might be delicious but might

be a little too sweet I mean that's you got a

point there. I mean like if you were to like

take a survey like a theoretical survey and look

at everyone's favorite movie like To be honest,

the superhero movies are probably gonna come

out on top like by a big margin Yeah, um, but

I also feel like I mean I'm not a huge fan of

the award shows either and I never really got

that whole thing but it to me it seems more of

a snobby type of thing like with some of the

movies like some of the movies I really just

don't get like why they're even considered but

I Do you think you have a good point about like,

you know, they kind of get everything else. So

just let Let these uh smaller movies like have

something I guess Yeah, I mean it's funny because

A lot of the general audience don't like the

academy more It's because I feel it's it's too

snobby and then a lot of like really hardcore

like cinephile fans feel like they're too broad

So I do think they try to go in the middle and

then they kind of make no one happy So I just

don't think the award show is that entertaining

No, I would agree with that. They have spots

here and there, like the performance last time

of Everything is Awesome by Lonely Island is

pretty good, but that was like five minutes of

a four -hour show. Didn't Guardians get nominated

for something that was like best makeup or something?

They got nominated for best makeup, special effects.

It also got a Writers Guild nomination for Best

Script, which isn't part of the Academy, but

it's also a pretty impressive nomination. So,

you know, you've had Heath Ledger nominated and

won for The Dark Knight, and you've had a lot

of technical awards that they usually get nominated

for, so it's not like they're not recognized

at all. I feel like they did the Heath Ledger

thing more because I feel like they feel obligated

to give out, and this is going to be a dick sounding

thing for me, but it's like they feel obligated

to give the awards out to somebody that has passed

away recently that did an excellent job. Don't

get me wrong, but still I think that just kind

of a death kind of puts it over the edge. Is

that like an asshole? Thing that I said there.

I mean, I mean, I'm sure and certainly it would

provide some sympathy honestly that year I think

he would have won it either either way Like I

don't I don't think it was just because of that.

I mean certainly that type of stuff might play

into it. I mean There's a huge campaign that's

weird when it comes to Academy Awards because

so much of it is based upon it's so political

to like people literally spend millions of dollars

on campaigns like to win these awards and things

like that, so I don't know, it certainly helped,

but honestly, even if without that, looking at

the field that year, looking at his performance,

it was really well -respected. I don't know if

he would have won, but he certainly would have

been nominated, but I don't think you can say

it's a slam dunk that was because of it. Like,

it wasn't so out of left field that it was like,

without this, clearly he wouldn't have even been

there. I think it would have been in the argument

either way, especially because that movie was

getting such amazing reviews. It was the best

reviewed comic book movie ever and still is.

So, I think that helped. I think he was a great

performance in a great movie. I mean, even Jack

Nicholson almost got a... He wasn't nominated,

but he was... He might have been nominated for

a Golden Globe, I forget. But it seems like The

Joker is a good place to go if you want to get

a... So, does Jared Leto have a chance? Well,

he did cut his hair. They love it when you change

your physical form. Yeah, it shows dedication,

you know. little clip of him going around from

a concert or something where he did this uh voice

or something and they're like is this the voice

of the joker and they're they're postulating

i listened to it i didn't think it was that great

of a voice it was just a gravelly voice which

joker isn't just like i don't think of joker

as a gravelly voiced character maybe a little

bit of a growl in there a little something but

it was just a growly voice if you ask me Yeah,

I did not see that so I don't know Jared Leto

is a good actor I was I don't know I guess we'll

see but I thought his name was Leto Jared Leto.

I don't know. I called them I was confused because

and I actually have one for tonight and A few

episodes ago. We did an episode about celebrities

that annoy us like that mountain rush more of

annoying celebrities So I thought was only fair

to talk about the other side of that argument

Dear good celebrities a few weeks ago. We talked

about those celebrities We cannot stand there

was no tell of hacks that do nothing but promote

their own self -interest Well, the thing is for

every Kanye West or Justin Bieber There is a

Chris Evans and Chris Pratt if you're not aware

team Chris squared, which is what I'm calling

them The name that I've just given them made

waves this these past few months as they spent

time in different hospitals in Boston and in

Seattle as they wore their get -ups as Captain

America and Star -Lord sir surprise the kids

who are dealing with some serious issues. They

took time out of their busy schedule to do something

of promise. And they're not alone. There's tons

of celebrities who do tons of things like this.

Look at someone like John Cena. Love him or hate

him. You have to admire the fact that he has

broken the record for most wishes granted through

the Make the Wish Foundation. And he continues

to do it each day. I mean, that's pretty incredible.

And a lot of that never goes reported. Think

about a few years ago when we had that tragedy

in Colorado and Christian Bale flew to Denver

and sat with people in the hospital. No one knew

about it if it wasn't for someone taking out

their cell phone and snapping a pic. We would

never have known that he actually did that and

kind of recognized the horribleness that occurred

and did something small but very poignant. And

the thing is there's tons of celebrities like

this even people that I can't stand I do have

to have to admit they do some amazing things

people like Sean Penn Oprah Angelina Jolie They

take out a lot of time and take out a lot of

money to help people that are less fortunate

and do it without the fanfare All I'm trying

to say is we can't we can't go painting a broad

brush when it comes to everyone's celebrity like

to say Hollywood is full of people that are fool

themselves and don't care and that's true, but

there are people who are Still human and actually

do use their their source of power for good There

are tons of great people out there that don't

let their fame go to the head But you won't see

a picture of Peck Stewart consulting a lifelong

Star Trek fan with terminal cancer on the front

of TMZ or some sort of Gossip magazine no, but

if Stewart would have stepped out of a bar slightly

drunk and have a little bit of a nip slip We

all want to see the Stuart nip slip. But the

one benefit of today's social media craze is

we now get to see those photos. We now get to

see that stuff spread like wildfire. One post

on one fan's page becomes headline news because

people want the positive. People don't always

need to hear about Lindsay Lohan getting in another

car accident because she got behind the wheel

drunk once again. We don't need to hear about

Kim Kardashian's next attempt to break the internet.

We actually want to hear about people like Chris

Pratt, Patrick Stewart, all these people who

are heroes on screen and heroes off screen. So

it's for all of you. Have you used your fame

for good? I say thank you. Keep doing what you're

doing because God knows we can use it. That's

very well said, Dan. I couldn't agree more. And

the Pratt and Evans thing did get a decent amount

of publicity like on Facebook and stuff like

that But that was good to see, you know Yeah,

it's it's funny like you'll see that on Facebook

and Twitter, but you won't really see that unlike

the news I mean, I don't watch entertainment

news, but sometimes I watch like, you know the

news in the morning and it's always fun I find

it weird a when you have like that on the actual

news that like, you know The local news when

you have a Kim Kardashian story. I'm like why

is this on right? Yeah It's it's really that's

why you know, twitter and facebook and reddit

have been good because they can actually Let

us spread those stories. There's actually there

was a great image that came up Cross a few days

ago. I don't know if it's new but I just saw

it it was with Patrick Stewart and he was some

with some fan who was suffering from a disease

and had like the spock ears on and they were

like hugging and stuff and there's also this

really great video of like uh, I think it was

at a con or Star Trek con or something like that

where a fan was talking to Patrick Stewart and

started crying and it was it was really emotional

even like it was oh, you know, even though it

was about fictional things and you saw Patrick

Stewart and go around like I think hugged the

person and like console them it was He seems

like a great guy. I don't know if you guys saw

the images of him like an Ian McKellen like goofing

around Yeah, I've seen those a lot those are

awesome Yeah, so I do think you know, we talked

about the annoying ones we get into but they're

good ones out there, too I think also Robert

Downey jr. Has done a lot of stuff like that,

too. Oh Yeah, did you see the video of him with

giving the kid the bionic arms? Oh, yeah, I did

not get to see that but I heard about it. Yeah

Yeah, that that was quite cool. I would definitely

check it out. So he comes in like being all proper

DinerJuniory and it's really great. All righty,
