Talking in Circles
March Badness 2015 Finals: Rocket Raccoon vs. Wonder Woman

About this Episode
Hey guys, this is Rob Paulson and you're listening
to the Geekcast Radio Network. You are now on
the inside of what I like to call the circle
of trust. We are all connected in a great circle
of life. You know something Bert? I think you
and I are going in circles. It feels like we're
going in circles. The Circle is now complete.
When I left you, I was but the learner. Now I
am the master. Because it's a circle. Yeah, we
heard about the circle. Yes, what a million would
change. Hi, this is Chuck. This is Greg. And
this is Dan, and we are Talking in Circle, brought
to you by the GeekCast Radio Network. The podcast
that's ready to break some brackets. Last week
we started the Badass tournament for 2015, and
this week we are finishing it. Yes, we're going
to the other side of the bracket for today, and
new competitors to go against last week's champion
of Rocket Raccoon. So if you haven't listened
to last week, definitely do that before you listen
to today, because you missed a great episode.
But before we get to the finals of the Badass
Bracket for 2015, how's the week been going for
you guys? My week was very, very strange. Mainly
because of what happened at work at my work.
I go in the one morning and I was like walking
towards the door and we have we have like a badge
we have to like swipe in the door. Kind of like
top secret facility. Not really though. It's
just to keep me out. I know. So I see this lady
walking up and I figured like, oh, she forgot
her badge because people do that a lot. So I
asked her and she's like, no, not exactly. She's
like something kind of happened inside the building.
And I'm like, oh, what happened? And she's like,
well, the whole inside of the building got flooded.
And I'm like, I'm like, what are you talking
about? Like, there's no streams or creeks around
here. I'm like, I don't know what you mean. She's
like, no, no, the the pipe at the one water fountain
burst in the middle of the night and just flooded
the entire floor. Crap. Yeah, so. You know, of
course I had to go in and check it out. I mean,
you got to go in, but get a little boat and be
like, I'm going fishing at work today. Yeah,
that'd be awesome. So I go in, there's a couple
of guys that I work with and everything, and
we're like all checking it out. And I mean, it
was contained to like a certain area, sort of
like near the fountain and stuff. But there was
like a couple of inches of water on the floor
and. We got a new carpet like a few months ago.
So like that's not ruined, but like they have
to like do a lot to like get that all cleaned
up and everything. But I guess what had happened
was there's cracks like in our floor, the rugs
hiding the ugly cracks. So what happened was
the water drained down these cracks into the
level beneath us. And there's all offices like
beneath us and stuff, too. So, you know, all
that drip down and there's like a drop ceiling
down there. And they all got soaking wet and
the whole like ceiling just collapsed. Oh, geez.
And they're like they're ceiling tiles like all
over the floor. It's just a huge mess. There's
puddles of water down there, like the whole length
of the hallway. It's like a hundred foot hallway.
It's just like all water looks like a giant slip
and slide. And like, you know, printers, some
printers got ruins, some computers and copiers
and stuff like water is just dripping straight
on top of them. Wow. And water sucks. Yeah. So
that really threw a wrench into our our plans
for the week. They're trying to get us set up
for some temporary workstations and stuff. But,
you know, we probably won't be able to get back
to our. our actual desks and workstations for
like another week or so probably. Oh, wow. That's
insane. Yeah. Very, very weird week. That's crazy.
Greg, how's your week been going? Yeah, there's
nothing really exciting going on in my life.
I slept before the podcast, so that may be why
I have sleepy voice or not as exciting talking.
right now or even speaking correctly so watch
out for that that'll be fun it'll be like a little
drinking game It will be a little drinking game
for decast radio. Yeah my week. Well my week
started off rough really rough On monday, I came
down with like an awful awful like stomach virus
and it was fun Yeah, I spent monday on the couch
like not being able to move It was not it was
not a good time, but it was it was weird. It
lasted for like Five hours and then I was like
perfectly. Okay, so You know, it was so sick.
I couldn't even like watch a movie I was just
like I was trying to watch something. I'm like,
I can't even, I just, I just slept the entire
time. Yeah. I just can't concentrate on stuff.
Yeah. I had Mike and Mike in the, in the background
and fell asleep, but then I woke up and skipped
Bayliss's on and I felt worse. It made you sick
again and you threw up. It did. Yeah. Yeah. And
that's when I was, the virus was over too, which
is cause Bayliss was talking. And then Stephen
A Smith come on and you just threw up again.
Oh, man. Yeah, those two together. That's that's
an adventure. That's thanks. Thank you. But yeah,
I'm better now and feeling good. Look, looking
forward to the weekend. So glad to hear it. Yeah.
I'm excited because this is pretty sad, but I'm
going to go to this. You guys went to it, the
Chaps pit beef place in Baltimore. It's kind
of famous. It was unlike diners. No man versus
food. And they have an infamous sandwich called
The Raven that I'm going to be getting, which
I'm really looking forward to. It has like every
meat ever, and it's like gigantic. It's a good
time. So I'll be talking about that maybe in
more detail next week when I actually eat it.
Giving you some preview of some food talk, because
we've had a lot of desire for more food talk,
I guess. I guess we have hungry listeners. It's
like the pregame show for football. It lasts
longer than the actual game. Exactly, exactly.
Just sit there and talk about the food for like
an hour. It takes you like five minutes to eat
it. I'm going to film it and I'm going to analyze
it and like my technique and all that good stuff.
You're going to draw on the smart board like
Madden? Exactly. Right here, right here is right
where Brett Favre ate it better than I did, but
you know. I didn't get a good chance to watch
much this week, but I know Chuck You did actually
watch a movie because you weren't sick like me
you were he did have a flooded office But what
were you able to get up to? Well, I was able
to hit up a movie. It's actually the end of last
week, but it counts as this week I can I can
pull that off. But um It's actually uh the new
Liam Neeson movie run all night. Oh, you went
to see that. Yeah. Yeah Also has Ed Harris in
it, who is really great. This is sort of a sort
of your more believable type of action movie
by Liam Neeson. He's not punching wolves or like,
you know. Yeah, it's got obviously it's like
a very feel to it and just something like take
is taken movies, but that's not a bad thing at
all. I love those movies. Don't get me wrong.
But you definitely go and expecting them to be
over the top and pretty like unrealistic. But,
you know, that's why we like action movies. This
one, though, has much more drama mixed into the
action and even the action pieces themselves
are a lot more realistic, in my opinion. And
this is sort of one of his, one of Liam Neeson's
attempts to play a more troubled type of character.
Someone with a lot of regrets in his life. It's
clear he's not even close to the stand -up guy
he is on the take -in movies. We've kind of seen
him try this before in movies like Unknown and
Nonstop, but I think he really, he really pulls
it off much better this time around. He's a bad
father, he's a drunk, he's a lousy friend. He's
pretty much a bum all the way around with nothing
left in his life. You're a bum rock. We needed
Mick in there. We needed him to clarify that.
But he pulled it off really well, I think. I
really enjoyed this sort of added dimension to
the movie, and I think it does nothing but enhance
the entire thing. However, the thing that really
drives the movie is his complicated relationship
with his longtime friend who is played by Ed
Harris. And I say complicated because that's
what it becomes as a result of something that
occurs in the movie and towards the beginning
of the movie and sort of this strange dynamic
that's created by the closeness of their friendship
and then the tragedy that's happened between
them. It's like this really intriguing thing
to watch play out. And it's not really a new
concept. We've kind of seen it with some of the
stories like, you know, Spider -Man and Green
Goblin, like classic stuff like that, or it's
a complicated relationship. But This was really
well executed, in my opinion, like it was there
was an awkwardness that made them seem made it
seem real. Like it wasn't a bad awkwardness.
It seemed like a sort of those tribulations that
you would go through. Like this is how a strained
friendship would come apart under such circumstances.
Like it seemed really like believable to me.
So, you know, from here on out, it went in some
directions that. I wasn't expecting, but it was
very disappointing in the ways that it went.
It didn't really do anything for shock value,
in my opinion, which is great. I thought everything
was well written and executed, flowed together,
beginning to end and a real solid movie. I think
it was one of Liam Neeson's better ones, actually.
Nice nice. I know the guy who directed that also
directed unknown from like a couple years ago
and last year he did Non -stop, would you put
it above? I don't know if you saw unknown, but
I did. Yeah, I saw both of those this I would
put I would put higher than both of those combined
I did like non -stop a lot, but I really like
this one So is it like a you see so is it more
like a slow burn like an old like more old -school
action? Where is compared to something like Taken
3, which was very high -octane action all the
time over the top in this type of... I don't
think it's high -octane at all. I think it's
more like... You could call it a slow burn. It's
kind of a suspense -driven... There's little
sort of little humps of action that you reach
throughout the movie, and then it's leading obvious
to this inevitable confrontation at the end sort
of. But it's just... I don't know. It's hard
to explain. It's done really well. I think another
thing worth mentioning, though, real quick is
the guy that played his son in this movie. His
name is Joel Kinnaman Robocop. Yeah, Robocop.
And also going to be in Suicide Squad, interestingly
enough. Yeah, he this guy was fantastic in this.
Like, I haven't seen too much of this guy, but
he really made an impression sort of long after
I walked out of the theater. Like, I was really
impressed with how he handled the. the different
emotions in this movie, like the strange relationship
with his father, sort of the roller coaster he
goes throughout the film, like he's dealing with
his dad showing up after all these years, he's
dealing with being a witness to something he's
not supposed to see, you know, having people
trying to hunt him down and harm him and his
family, and also like he cares for, there's this
young boy that he cares for, he mentors at the
boxing gym, so it's just this slew of different
Angles to his character and he handled it like
really well. I think he did a great job in this.
Oh Awesome. Awesome. Have you seen was that walk
among the two sounds from last year? I have not
seen that when I did kind of want to see that
but I haven't gotten a chance to I'm curious
if that's like if it's if it's like comparable
to that or not because what you're saying it
I haven't seen that either but they what I've
heard about both. It seems like they're comparable
So I it's interesting. I I did not see run all
night, but I'd be interested in checking out
now very well said yeah Cool. Thanks. All right,
Greg and Greg always has to show us up cuz you
know, we're watching movies and he's reading
all these books and stuff So Greg, why don't
you like, you know go to in your intellectual
corner and tell us about this awesome book that
you're at Yes, I read an intellectual book for
about 15 year olds Hey, that's probably I actually
realized I did watch a movie that I'll talk about
when you're done Which is probably made for like
eight -year -olds. So Well, I read a book by
Rickery Ardan, so this isn't going to take long
because it doesn't really take me long to read
his books. I just devour them. I'll go through
them really quick. Rickery Ardan is the author
who has done Percy Jackson's series. probably
seen the terrible movies that they've done based
on the books, which I highly recommend people
not watch the movie, read the books, because
the books are tons of fun, they're crazy out
there, and Grigora Dan is just simple, easy to
read. But I read a book from his Kane Chronicle
series called The Serpent's Shadow. And this
is another series where you have a set of kids
or just one singular kid. This has a set of kids,
brother and sister team. They're magicians that
are in with Egyptian gods and everything, and
they battle with different gods, all the evil
gods from Egyptian times. So this is very much
a set of books that seem very familiar. If you
read Percy Jackson, now to the point where he's
doing also Roman gods and kids as well. But it
doesn't venture too far away from his usual,
but it's just... Really good time. There's a
lot of fun stuff in there. Like I said, it's
a quick and easy read because it is for like
younger kids. It's about 400 pages, but the way
the words are spaced out and everything and the
spacing between lines is very massive. So you
could probably filter this whole book down to
about 200 pages if you just condense everything
a little bit. I'm very into Rick Riordan. I've
read all of the Percy Jackson stuff, all the
ones with the Roman gods that's now filtering
into the Percy Jackson, and that are running
together, and The Cain Chronicles, which I'm
imagining it's gonna run into all those other
The Cain Chronicles and all three of his book
series. So I know that you mentioned that the
movies don't necessarily measure up nearly as
well. to the books, what are the movies missing
that the books have that make them so much better?
That's tough. The story, it's not missing anything.
It's just that they mess up the storyline for
the most part. Like the way they did the storyline
in the movie, it doesn't make it so they can
move on the series like they did the book. So
it's very misconstrued and it doesn't really
match up As well with the books the books have
a better story. I guess you would say The books
like less convoluted in them actual movies or
do you think yeah? Yeah, the books explain it
better I don't think the movies really add up
to the fantasy that you can create in your head
from what Rick rear Dan says and he has a lot
more fun and interesting things going on Like
the mother and the son that had a thing where
they would eat Candy that was like blue or eat
everything that was blue. So they they had a
weird thing like that So they're missing stuff
like that. So Greg on these movies Do they like
do they consult this guy to help write the movies
at all? Or does they just kind of hire someone
else to adapt it? I think somebody else wrote
the movies But I believe from what little I know
because I didn't go too in -depth because I was
very disappointed in the movie I believe he was
there as a consultant but apparently he couldn't
consult them and force them to actually write
the movie just like the book. Kind of a vital
part to adapting a novel. Yeah, they missed the
mark. They have it where they just solved the
entire issue of the entire series in just this
one movie, but just dealing with a lot of the
stuff from the first book. So it was bizarre.
It was bizarre. I'm just going to leave it at
that because I feel like I'm just rambling now.
Interesting. Yeah, like from reading or from
watching the movie just feel like it was just
kind of put together hastily Just trying to like
get something out there to try to follow the
trend of Harry Potter It's just like we're just
gonna make this movie But the heart wasn't in
it because I feel like the Harry Potter films
like them. I hate them There's no doubt they
put a lot of effort into those movies. I guess
I didn't really get that from Percy Jackson So
maybe that was just the big difference is that
those movies have effort put behind them and
Percy Jackson movies are just You know, they're
just a studio trying to cash in Kind of yeah,
the one movie. I remember that I watched I just
want to talk about it real quickly So after our
badass bracket I got in the mood to watch Predator
or Predator 2 for whatever reason I don't know
if you ever get in those moods where it's like
I really want to watch this movie and I don't
know why and Luckily Predator 2 is available
on YouTube all of it for free And yeah, and in
good quality and and 10 -8 1080p so I watched
it on YouTube on my after my Xbox and It was
it was interesting. I forgot in that movie that
they try to make Danny Glover into a badass I
forgot that he was actually trying to meet into
the superhero and it takes place in this like
future almost futuristic Los Angeles where it's
just complete war going on It's like people are
using machine guns in the middle of the streets
and stuff It's like that 80s over -the -top Bible
was 1991 to early 90s. It was just it was fun
kind of funny though looking at the guns they
try to create to make them futuristic it was
like a handgun with like a silver plastic thing
on the top of it that looks like a scope that
you would never use on a handgun and it was just
it was so ridiculous but uh i do love the character
design of the predator he was kind of cool and
i love the idea of putting the predator in the
city and which becomes this de facto crime fighter
in some ways but uh and garibucci's in it and
he's so freaking great he's actually a lot of
fun i'm like oh yeah garibucci that used to not
be crazy and actually be a good actor and makes
you sad. Before those amazon fire tv commercials
Where he's talking to his pants Exactly The funny
thing is he didn't even know the cameras there.
That's just him Like they just put like a camera
on the wall like a hidden camera exactly So if
you want to watch predator 2 you can do so right
now by going to youtube and watching it all and
i'm guessing it's Maybe youtube has rights to
it or something or maybe no one has the rights
to it and it doesn't matter anymore It's just
in the public domain. But if you want to check
it out, it's there for you. So But uh, yeah,
it's it was enjoyable. I still kind of like it
It's not it's not nearly as good as the first
one But it's it's kind of got the b -movie cheese
and it's kind of ridiculous and I just like the
character of the predator So he makes it fun.
So But alright, so we're gonna take a quick break
and we would come back. We predator was in the
badass bracket last week He's not in it this
week. We have 16 new combatants that will be
going head -to -head as we decide the winner
of the 2015 Badass bracket. We'll see you in
a bit. Hey guys, this is JD from the in session
film podcast every week on our show You can join
my co -host Brendan and I as we review the latest
films that's out in theaters It also inspires
us to discuss a top three list of some sort and
we have a lot of other fun movie discussions
as well It's always a blast and we also have
a show on Fridays called our extra film podcast
This is a show that gives us the space to talk
about the latest Indies and art films and other
classics that we normally just don't get to talk
about on our main show. You can find our podcast
on iTunes, Stitcher Radio, SoundCloud, TuneIn
Radio, Player FM, and more. In fact, you can
just see everything about us, including our social
medias at InSessionFilm .com. So join us every
week. We'd absolutely love to have you. Alrighty,
and welcome back. If you didn't listen to last
week's episode, like I said, out front, go ahead
and do that. But. For those that have, last week,
out of the 16 combatants, the one person left
standing, the one person that was too badass,
or at least for last week, was Rocket Raccoon.
Kind of a surprise, we got a lot of people who
thought it would be Darth Vader, but you know,
Rocket Raccoon was not denied. This week we have
16 new combatants, and we're gonna go through
this. And similar to last week, we'll be going
through these 16 matchups. And if you haven't
listened, the idea is who is the biggest badass?
It's not who can win in a fight. It's not who
is stronger, more powerful. It's simply badass
credibility, which can mean pretty much anything
we want to mean at that time. So you might see
one thing be a benefit and then two rounds later,
be a detractor. It's the way that this thing
goes. It's how it works. But at the end Chuck
Greg and I will each vote who we think the monitor
of each matchup should be Whoever has the most
votes between Chuck Greg and I goes on we don't
do audience votes We don't do listeners relative
just between us I mentioned last week and if
you haven't done it We do have a versus tournaments
that we do that that are dependent upon audience
votes that are done by geekathreader .com Those
are some great lessons. So go ahead and listen
to those But we do a little bit differently here
because we don't trust the audience is I guess
I don't know anything else you guys wanted to
bring up before we get this thing started i don't
think so all righty skype please don't fail me
now tonight's first matchup last week we had
someone from the walking dead who went out in
the first round in carol well walking dead is
getting represented once again and this time
it's still its leader rick grimes ak -47 44 magnum
automatic weapons, night scope, there's a compound
bow and a machete with a red handle. That's what
I'm gonna use to kill you. Who's going up against
a member of DC Comics, one of the most iconic
characters of DC and one of Batman's most allies
or foes, I guess it depends on the day, and that
is Catwoman. How could you? I'm a woman! I'm
sorry, I... As I was saying, I'm a woman and
can't be taken for granted. Life's a bitch, now
so am I. you know, two comic book characters
going head -to -head, two very different characters
in a lot of different ways. Chuck, I think I'll
start with you here because I know you've watched
Walking Dead. I know you've read some Batman
comics. So, you know, who do you think out of
these two characters is deserving of being the
bigger badass? Well, I have watched. I have been
watching a lot of Walking Dead, obviously, the
last couple of seasons. There's a lot of different
sort of incarnations of Catwoman, a lot of different
people. playing her in movies and various things.
I guess like some reason that Catwoman has some
badass cred is for whatever reason she could
sort of be looked down upon by some of the other
more intimidating villains that Batman has faced.
And she can definitely hold her own. She's very
cunning and very tactful and things like that.
Like you mentioned, she's played both sides,
you know, the villain, the burglar. also the
occasional ally so very much a badass in her
own right but rick grimes to me like man the
guy has just become so so badass in the last
couple seasons of walking dead like the lengths
that this guy goes to to protect his son and
the other people in his party i mean uh bit out
another guy's throat that's the one image i keep
thinking of during this entire time Yeah, I mean,
it's just these people, obviously, they pose
a threat to their group and they were trying
to kidnap them and possibly kill them. And Rick
sort of gets the drop on this guy a little bit
and just has no weapon on him, but he just bites
his throat out. Catwoman, you're very badass
in your own way, but I'm sorry you're going to
fall here to Rick Grimes. Yeah. Greg I'm gonna
move on to you next. I know like we said you
I don't think you've gotten to that part in The
Walking Dead so spoiler alert I do apologize,
but you'll still not see it coming But out of
what you know for crimes and what you knew of
Catwoman Do you what one do you think is the
bigger badass? I'm gonna start off with my answer
first and I definitely think that Rick Grimes
is more of the bad badass. He shot his best friend.
I Think that is true. Yeah Just just to note
like I hope that's not a positive in your book
because we might not only we might only need
over Skype from now on I'm not saying i'm like
him because i'm definitely not badass But i'm
i'm not safe. So yeah, you have nothing to worry
about So yeah, I I think that in itself killing
your own best friend is just immensely badass
to build up the courage to do that to I don't
think I've ever seen Catwoman do anything as
close, and I think the Halle Berry movie definitely
takes away from her street cred. That's true.
She does have that gigantic, you know, negative
cred right there for that Catwoman movie. Oh,
man. Yeah, I will go with McRimes, but I will
throw some benefits to the Catwoman. I mean,
she has been fighting for her life since she
grew up. She, you know, on the streets had to
survive and she had to... Learned the hard way
and definitely, you know, is strong enough to
go toe to toe with some big villains, even including
Batman. So certainly she's got street smarts
and there's nothing to take away from that. But
yeah, Rick Grimes has certainly grown into he's
in the worst situation you could possibly imagine,
yet he's able to succeed and still keep a level
of humanity, even though that humanity is. ever
so leaving him as the days were on. But yeah,
I agree. So I'll go with great crimes and a clean
sweep. All righty, moving on to the next matchup.
And we're going to go back to the 80s here with
one of the most iconic characters to come out
from that decade. And he does not pity fools.
And that is Mr. T. The little man don't want
to come to me. Then I'll come to you people and
lay out the truth. I am ranked number one. One!
That means I'm the best. But this bomb is taking
the ease of matches. Fight another bomb. I'm
telling you and everybody here, I'll fight him
anywhere, anytime, for nothing. But you people
ain't never gonna see it happen because he's
gonna retire. You see, he don't fight no real
man. He fight himself. What? You're as disgrace
to this sport. Shut up, old man. You're not something
who has to come from. Going up against another
character that was kind of iconic from the 80s
a little bit from 90s at least if you're a Teenage
Mutant Ninja Turtle fan, and that is Casey Jones
What the hell was that? That was a crime you
per scrubbing pukes and this is the penalty Two
minutes for slashing two minutes for hooking
and let's not forget my personal favorite two
minutes before i stick and wow i i ended last
time so i'll start this time and this is kind
of hard i'm not gonna lie i mean you have mr
t right you can look at all the different incarnations
of him you have him from rocky where you know
he what's what's your prediction for this fight
pain that's pretty badass you know he's got the
look he's got the gold he's got the haircut you
have to be pretty badass to wear that haircut
Indeed Casey Jones. I mean the dude is just he
literally is a hockey player badass enough But
then he just goes on the streets and beats people
up with random weapons assorted assorted weapons
He's kind of senile in that way. He's not a strange
fighter. He's just kind of a badass That's what
makes him kind of successful It's it's it's already
like who do you go with? But I think you know,
mr. T's got the complete package if you place
both of them in front of me, mr. Pete, mr. P
Mr. T had his prime against Casey Jones his prime
I'd rather go up against Casey Jones and mr.
T when he was full on T He was not to be messed
with so I it's a tough choice I really would
wanted the Casey Jones to go further But you
know, mr. T was like the biggest badass of the
1980s So I'm gonna have him go for at least vote
for him I don't know if he's gonna go forward
or not. So Greg, what say you in this matchup?
Yeah, I think Mr. T just kind of did one sport
thing with boxing and he was pretty badass with
that quote, like he said, pain. So badass. What's
that paper champion? And he was constantly carrying
around 20 billion pounds of weight with all of
his chains around his neck. His head should be
dragging on the ground. So I think there's a
lot of pluses for him, but I think the smaller
more rougher tougher tumble Casey Jones just
with all of his sports weaponry with hockey sticks
baseball bats Just his resourcefulness and the
amount of foes that he'll go up against once
and the higher tier, more highly trained combatants
that he goes up against. I think him going into
such a battle against such a force, I think that
gives Casey Jones the winning swing here for
me. One quick rebuttal to what you said, though,
before I pass it over to Chuck. Can you have
more highly trained than Rocky? I mean, that's
all that guy does is training. Look at all those
montages. Come on. Yeah, but Casey Jones is going
against enemies that have been training for years
as well in the arts of karate. But have they
been punching, you know, frozen meat in a locker?
I mean... No, they have been pounding meat in
a giant locker. All righty Chuck you're in a
tough spot here. You have one vote T. You have
one vote Casey Jones. Who's moving on to the
next round? Wow, I get the I get the first decision
of the night here. This is tough these are sort
of two two beloved characters from my my past
my younger days Definitely a huge Rocky fan as
you guys all know So I of course, I love the
character of Clubber Lang from Rocky 3 as you're
quoting. And then obviously I'm a huge Ninja
Turtles fan also, and I love Casey Jones and
all of his iterations, whether it be the cartoon,
the movie, the comics. He's all pretty much the
same character in all three of those mediums,
which I can I could say that's I gotta give him
respect there. So this is really, really tough
for me. But I feel like I feel like at the end
of the day. uh, Casey Jones can work out without
grunting. But the Casey Jones, did Casey Jones
sing about mothers? Yeah. That detracts a little
bit away from the bet. I mean, although, you
know, respecting your mom, it's pretty bad ass,
but, uh, I feel like if we were doing clubber
Lang here, See, this is the matchup I'm going
to work this angle. If this was Klubber Lang
here, I would definitely go with him. But Mr.
T as a whole, if you watched stuff like the A
-Team, he was badass in parts with that, but
he was also kind of a little quirky here and
there. They sort of had to knock him out every
time they wanted to take him on a plane, which
was kind of weird. But yeah, I don't know. I'm
feeling Casey Jones, I think. Uh, the guy just
has a lot of, uh, a lot of cojones to go out
there on the streets in New York city with a
baseball bat and a hockey stick and try to fight
actual criminals. All righty. So Casey Jones
will be facing off against Rick Grimes in the
next round, which that should be a fun matchup.
So we talked about iconic characters from our
childhood. And at least for me, these are two
big iconic characters from my childhood. And
I'm assuming anyone who grew up in the eighties
and nineties. Starting off, we have Fulton Reed
from The Mighty Ducks. Look, it was an accident,
alright? Never mind the window. Where'd you learn
to shoot like that? Didn't learn, I just do it.
Do it again. Well, you're great at breaking windows.
Have you ever hit the goal? Yeah. Well, one out
of five. Fulton, is it true what they say about
the scholarships and how they won't let you play
hockey? People talk and tell me nothing. Why
don't you play for us? I can't. What do you mean,
you can't? I mean, I can't. Are you afraid? No,
I mean, I really can't, you moron. I don't know
how to skate. Is that all that's stopping you?
Going up against Benny the Jet Rodriguez from
The Sandlot. I don't believe it. Bitch. Nah,
it ain't. Come on, Benny, man. Maybe two or three
guys in history ever busted the guts out of a
ball. Must be an old man. All this means is that
we can't play no more. I mean, it's only 12 o
'clock. And I just ruined the whole day for us.
No, you didn't. That's the most amazing thing
I ever saw. Nice. And Greg, we'll start with
you here. Who do you think wins in this matchup
against Benny the Jet and Fulton Reed from the
Mighty Ducks? Well, you have two guys that were
in sports movies. You have one hockey. and one
baseball. Which one is the tougher sport? I'm
going to go with hockey. You're constantly hitting
people. People lose teeth, get cut up, get bruises.
There's fighting. The other guy just ran away
from a giant dog that he ended up loving, I guess.
So I have to go with Fulton Reed with the more
manly sport and the sport where he is feared
in a Really tough bruiser sport. He is feared
especially a shot I do have a con for him, but
I'll save that for later. So I'm going to go
with Fulton Reed Alrighty Chuck I'll move on
to you next. Who do you feel should win this
matchup? Well, I'd like to say Fulton Reed Where's
the bandana? We know that's badass. That immediately
gives you like at least five or ten points on
your badass license. But, you know, Greg, you
got a good point there. Hockey is a much tougher
sport. There's a lot higher risk for injury.
You really have to be an overall tougher person
to sort of play those games in a day in and day
out. And in that movie, he really came when he
came out to the Mighty Ducks, he he really turned
them around. sort of gave an element of fear
to all of their opponents that they faced you
know he had that crazy slap shot that was so
fast that no one could even stop it he was a
little wild with it his accuracy wasn't the greatest
at all times but uh he you know he dialed it
in there i need the jet uh rodriguez he was like
the cool guy like the cool kid on the on the
diamond that everybody wanted to be and uh i
just i think that moment when when he jumped
over the fence and took that ball and started
running from the dog just the just the epic nature
of that scene and all the kids all the neighborhood
kids were in such awe with this creature that
they have feared their whole lives chasing down
their friend and he was out running him he was
doing it and uh i just think that moment is so
epic i i gotta give my vote to to benny rodriguez
All right, so this is gonna be really hard for
me two of my all -time favorite movies growing
up as a kid And still Sandlot and many dogs hold
still hold a very special place in my heart So,
I mean Greg you make a good point hockey clearly
more badass than baseball. There's no question
about it but There's that classic line heroes
live and die but legends are live forever. Benny
the jet is a legend even so that we see that
he succeeds as an adult. He becomes a professional
star. But, you know, you do have Fulton Reed.
He's a part of the Basham Brothers. He's the
enforcer of that hockey team. Even when going
up against people like the people from Iceland,
he's still the guy that they go to as, you know,
their muscle. And to be the muscle of a hockey
team, his slap shot so hard it literally picks
a person up. Goalie up through the net. I mean
it does if I physics that's that says something
But yeah Who's gonna win the fight clearly Fulton
Reed if I'm gonna want if I want someone stronger
You know if I want it if I'm gonna go into a
difficult situation probably want Fulton Reed
But I think I think Benny the Jets more of a
complete complete badass because he has that
cool factor he I mean he's gonna be the one getting
the girls he's gonna be the one who's kind of
smooth talking and he's got a little bit more
of a chip on his shoulder and maybe a little
bit more He's more willing to go and get it where
Fulton Reed had to be convinced to even play
hockey so because of that because Benny the Jet
is the leader and Fulton Reed's more of the follower
and I think It's more badass to be a leader.
Oh It pains me. It pains me so much To not let
both go on but I can't I can't do that. So I
vote will go for go for Benny the jet and this
in this situation So he'll be moving on to the
to the next round You're gonna put the the song
in here. Yeah Funny story, I never even realized
that till now So the next matchup another really
random matchup, but it should be kind of fun
and I'll start with this one in since I ended
last time and Starting off we have the grill
master himself George Foreman I can't believe
it. I can't believe it. Going up against the
Amazon Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman! Don't judge
them, Cal. They get a little nervous around men
now. What are you talking about? I was heading
up river when I passed this village about four
days ago. The people here helped the French and
the rebels didn't like that. They murdered the
men and children and I threw them in the river.
These women were beaten and pinned in tiger cages
for the rebels to... use. The rebels? How did
they die? I only disarmed them. I left their
guns in a clearing and then I let the women out
of their cages. They did this and you just stood
by and watched I gave them freedom and a chance
for justice, you know the American way This is
what the government's afraid of Diana us acting
like vigilantes. I have to do what I think is
right That's what a lot of the others said at
first remember and now Batman's a fugitive the
whole justice society is retired and our man's
dead No matter how much good we do deep down
people are always going to be scared of us Isn't
that why you and I signed those loyalty oaths?
Take a look around Cal Oaths don't mean much
here. All I see is suffering and madness But
there's the door spaceman So the question is,
who's a bigger badass, George Foreman or Wonder
Woman? Very different characters. I know who
has a better ass. Definitely not Foreman, though
with how healthy his grills are, he certainly
might have a better ass now, but it's kind of
hard. Both warriors, both fighters. What's George
Foreman's most infamous fight? Rumble in the
jungle. And what happened in that fight? He lost.
You can't really be a badass and best be known
for losing one of the most iconic fights of all
time. It'd be like Scott Norwood being considered
a badass for missing that field goal kick against
the Giants. But you do have to get the fact that
he did win the heavyweight title at 50 years
old. I mean, if you're ever gonna come back from
a loss like that, that's the way to do it. But
Wonder Woman's a trained warrior. She is... Certainly
not gonna back down from anyone. She goes up
against gods her level of competition even though
fictional Certainly is as high as they get though.
I mean, it's hard to get higher than get Muhammad
Ali But uh, I mean George Foreman was like the
Mike Tyson of his day But I'm gonna go Wonder
Woman just because of the fact that George Foreman
his biggest moment to shine was kind of lost
for him So I'm gonna go Wonder Woman in this
in this one Chuck I'll move it on to you next.
Who do you feel should win this matchup? I think
Foreman because he is a grill that makes delicious
food Does have a good grill No, I guess like
Obviously, I'm a I'm a big DC fan and I like
Wonder Woman and everything, you know, definitely
a badass when Batman refers to her as One of
the most skilled if not the most skilled hand
-to -hand fighter on the planet That's that's
some high praise right there She isn't not afraid
to go up against anyone she can hold her own
even if she didn't have her strength in her flight
like i mentioned she's just a ridiculous uh ridiculously
skilled fighter she's trained with weapons very
very good with all sorts of uh fighting styles
i think i'm gonna go with foreman though here
because oh wow i'm really surprised by that yeah
i think uh i don't know i like this guy he's
gotta He's got a likable side to him, which is
it's part of being a badass. You know, I think,
yeah, he he had a failure there in the Rumble
in the jungle, but he lost to the best there
was. And that was Muhammad Ali. And I think if
if you were to sort of put Wonder Woman in that
situation, if she were to lose to Superman, I
don't think it would make her any less badass.
That's a good point. So I think, you know, I
look at Foreman He's a two -time world heavyweight
champion. He's a gold medalist in the Olympics
When he first took over the heavyweight title,
he defeated the then undefeated Joe Frazier in
a knockout Pretty badass feet. So I don't know.
I'm feeling I'm feeling Foreman right now He's
feeling Foreman Greg. So we have one vote Wonder
Woman one vote George Foreman Who you going with
in this? Well I don't know much about boxing,
but he did get beat in that whatever you said
fight. And so he took a beating there, which
is pretty badass. But you've got to you got to
think about this another way. Wonder Woman has
also taken a giant beating that to her vagina
from Superman. They have hooked up probably billions
of times. And you know, Superman has wrecked
that shit. So I'm going to go with Wonder Woman.
That's one way to look at it. Was it in the Invisible
Plane? Is that why we haven't seen it? Yes, she
also has an invisible jet. That is awesome and
badass. And she deflects bullets with her gauntlets.
So there's other reasons to go with Wonder Woman
besides that, but I'm going... George Foreman
did name all of his kids George. I feel like
that's not badass. No, I that's what I would
think that takes away some from some bad. Yeah,
that takes some takes some Some gusto to name
all your kids George like that though and gusto
a lack of self -awareness I got hit in the head
several million times. What do you expect? Yeah.
Yeah, I mean considering looking at other boxers.
He's in pretty good shape considering, you know
It's all it's it's those grills man, it's those
grills Already moving on to the next matchup
this route I guess this this bracket side of
the brackets much more random than last week
But it makes a little bit more fun, but we have
two leaders of nations to You know war generals
in a lot of ways again one fictional one real
On one side we have general George Patton You
see it I Want you to remember That no bastard
ever won war By dying for his country You want
it By making the other poor dumb bastard die
for his country and On the other we have the
mother of all dragons Khaleesi Why we had philosophical
differences over what? Your beauty. It meant
more to me than it did to them. You're a strange
man. I'm the simplest man you'll ever meet. I
only do what I want to do. Well, then this is
supposed to impress me. Yes. Why would I trust
a man who murders his comrades? They ordered
me to murder you. I told them. I preferred not
to. They told me I had no choice. I told them
I am Dario Naharis. I always... Have a choice.
They drew their swords, and I drew mine. Will
you fight for me? Swear to me. The Second Sons
are yours, and so is Dario Naharis. My sword
is yours. My life is yours. My heart is yours.
Greg, you end the last round. I'll start with
you here. You have already expressed your love
for Khaleesi. But the question here is who's
a bigger badass? Khaleesi? Or george patten Never
thought that'd be a conversation. I would ever
have till today So who are you going with us
in this matchup? Uh calisi calisi calisi calisi
calisi calisi calisi calisi calisi calisi I'm
going with so we see yes. Um, I just think calisi
has Taken rule and she kind of rules a bunch
of of of people. They're her citizens. That's
her army she is definitely on the top and Patton
even though he has won a bunch of great battles
he has gotten kicked down from the from above
from presidents and higher ranked generals and
kind of got him kicked out of the army. And there's
also a little bit of questioning of his sanity
with how far he has gone with things. I think
Khaleesi is a little bit more calm and collected.
She has overcome so much to get where she has
gotten. And she has fucking dragons. And she
is gorgeous. And she has an awesome ass along
with a badass. Can't deny that. I mean what I
have been talking about Chuck I'll move I I know
this one's kind of tough for you because you
haven't really watched Game of Thrones but They
give you some background on Khaleesi. She was
this character who? Basically started off as
a pawn as a brother of her brother, but she kind
of grew into this leader of a nation she was
a slave and she used her sexual prowess, I guess
in some ways to overcome her captors and actually
become this leader and she ends up being this
part of this long -lost Faction of people that
were once these great leaders and she's like
the last descendant and Part of it is being the
mother of dragons where she can withstand huge
fire and not be burned and now she's this leader
among this entire nation going to take on the
the north and Reclaim her clan crown basically.
So I probably I've skipped over a great deal.
Yeah It's a very It's a it's a very rich History
there. It's there's there's a lot of stuff going
on. I would say like she has huge development
She's not a character that was born. She's not
like a Wonder Woman per se she gets to a woman
one woman Wonder Woman level, but it's uh, it
takes some time it takes some progression to
get there, but With that I'm curious to hear
who you would go with in this matchup. This is
a tough matchup. Like you said, I haven't seen
Game of Thrones at all, but yeah, I definitely
definitely picking up what you're putting down.
She sounds like a pretty badass leader, definitely
having some dragons on her side there. I'm sort
of interested to to check out some of the some
of those badass qualities at a closer level,
a closer look. I do want to make out with her,
right? No, not sure if you're used to communicating,
but that's not really what I said. When it comes
to Khaleesi, Greg's head gets all kind of muffled.
It's just like the Foreigner song, Head Games.
It's like putting a spoon into the microwave.
It's like putting a peanut butter jar in with
the foil still on in the microwave. I do know
a bit about Patton. I know he pretty much fought
in both World Wars, first seeing combat at the
end of the first one. He was a West Point graduate
in Olympian. The guy was crazy with his speeches,
cursing up a storm and everything. Very outspoken
with his views on certain countries, even though
it didn't... completely go along with the U .S.
official policy of what their thing was. So I
guess I kind of think about that as sort of,
you know, he's not afraid to speak his mind and
he's not really afraid of the authority above
him. Like, I don't know, it just seems really
bad -ass to me. I hate to sort of pull this card
in a fun sort of situation like this, but the
guy served our country in two wars. And I really
got a lot of gratitude for him. The guy's a major
badass. I'm going to give my vote to Mr. Patton.
Yeah, I mean, this is a really hard matchup because
it's too varied. I mean, one's obviously a real
life person and who fought in real life wars
and another one's a fictional character. So it's
like... Almost going into it unfair in some ways,
but yeah, yeah, I mean Patton for sure real life
There's no there's no question his badass. He
was one of the most respected or one of the most
well -established generals of our in our history
I mean, you probably probably one of the most
prominent and well -known I mean that could be
partially because of the movie Patton where you
know, George skis George C Scott played him so
well and you really kind of Captured the essence
of what made that character's one made him such
a huge larger than life character um even though
he was a real person and obviously a real person
but he was almost like so so big and so over
the top that he almost feels fictional in a lot
of ways and just the way he would he would so
speak his mind and Not be afraid to really piss
people off to the point where he did piss people
off So he kind of you know Dwight D Eisenhower
wasn't biggest fan of Patton in some ways and
kind of affected the way he was using the war
and I mean, I Guess the question becomes if you're
a leader, what's part of being a badass? I think
speaking your mind part of that too. But I think
also it does make sense to be a badass but still
be Highly regarded or or at least liked by the
people that are following you and it's hard to
tell people who reported the patent certainly
respected his gusto and his Willingness to kind
of do whatever it takes for his country for sure
But I think Khaleesi is beloved by everyone.
She's freeing slaves. She she is making some
really tough choices that they both add to Khaleesi
When she does have dragons, I mean man if Patton
had dragons, it'd be in no contest, but you know
dragons are pretty badass It's really it's rather
hard. Yes, it is as you can tell i'm rambling
because i'm not sure who i'm going to go with
because You'd think I would plan ahead ahead
of time, but I did it because i'm an idiot So
and i'm actually looking at Patton stuff as I
speak to see if there's anything I can think
of that would make me I mean not want to pick
him. Here's a dig against Patton if I could there's
a thing called post -traumatic stress or the
stress that soldiers can take on from a traumatic
experience or even just regular people take on
and it's debilitating for them and Patton once,
well probably a couple times, threw a giant fit
at one of these men that had this and just started
berating him and anybody like him for being yellow,
I think, was the term that was used. And so he
definitely was not that great with his men at
times. If you were a tough fighter and knew what
you were doing and could keep your wits about
you, he was probably great. But he definitely
sacrificed people. For the war like Yeah, he
certainly there's no he made no bones about not
like He did not respect weakness all that much
Which I mean is part of probably what makes him
a great general and but maybe not a great person
or at least you know Plus you have to consider
consider the situation and in the time period
that was back in the day when they didn't have
the quite the studies and the information that
we do have but yeah, I mean certainly he possibly
did some morbidly questionable things, but I
guess it's hard to say without being there. The
one thing I can think about Khaleesi though is
that she, as of right now, I don't know the books,
I only know the TV show, and it did take her
some time to get to that point. She did start
off as more of a, almost like deer in headlights
for a really long time, where she was almost
aloof for a great - deal and she sensed Patton
as what seems like he was almost born the way
he is. I'm getting a sense he's more a badass
for a longer period of time and maybe everything
he did wasn't kosher but I think Khaleesi's done
some questionable things as well as we saw last
season of Game of Thrones where maybe she took
her power too far and maybe also possibly did
some things that maybe were not for the benefit
and maybe just are being power hungry. So maybe
both guilty of things like that. So because of
that, and it pains me, but I'm going to go with,
I'm going to go with Pat. No, I tried to defend
your honor. He died valiantly. I did. I did.
I still have a picture of her up on my screen
here. It's all right. It's alright, Khaleesi.
I mean, if it's who has the better ass, I'm definitely
gonna go with, I'm gonna go with Khaleesi. I
will console you! It's alright. So yeah, I mean,
a lot of rambling there, I apologize, but it
was a tough, tough decision. You guys just don't
like my choices, you always vote against me!
All right, well this one's gonna be a whole lot
easier I think well I'm not at least a lot easier
to compare these two characters because they're
both cartoons from one from classic Disney cartoon
and one from a classic 1980s TV series and We
have Aladdin from well, you know Aladdin No one
steals from my Thief! Do you know what the penalty
is for stealing? Thank you, kind sir. I'm so
glad you found me. I've been looking all over
for you. Just play along. You, uh, know this
girl? Sadly, yes. She is my sister. She's a little
crazy. She said she knew the Sultan. She thinks
the monkey is the Sultan. Tragic, isn't it? But,
no harm done. Now come along, sis. Time to go
see the doctor. No, no, no, not that one. Come
on, Sultan. Come back here, you little beast!
Going up against Lino from The Thundercat. My
cunning! It is my equal in every way. Yes, Lion
-O. It is just like you. An evil twin. Your mirror
image. In you. Yes! And what do you see in the
mirror? Your own reflection, Mammarra! So I ended
last time, I'll start with this one. And I'll
preface this by saying Aladdin's probably my
all time favorite Disney movie, all time favorite
animated film, easily. It's at least within my
top two. And I liked Thundercats as a kid, but
it wasn't my favorite cartoon. So the question
is, who's the bigger badass? And it talked about
with Catwoman how she was born on the streets,
had to become streetwise and like fight for survival.
That was the same thing with Aladdin. He has
a magic carpet. His pants are modeled off of
MC Hammer. I mean, that's kind of badass, right?
He's got a cool vest, a cool little hat. And
he was meant to kind of look like Tom Cruise.
So back when Tom Cruise was actually badass,
not before he kind of went crazy. so and lino
i mean let's be honest the name lino doesn't
even sound that badass it sounds kind of kind
of ridiculous and he's a great fighter but he
also has a great weapon with his sword and you
know the thunder thunder thundercats great call
great song great looking character but i find
aladdin is more of a badass and more of a rebellious
character and fits that Credence a little bit
more so I'm gonna go with Aladdin in this one,
but uh Chuck I'm curious to hear who you think
should win this matchup Sort of a definitely
a nostalgic matchup for all of us. I think we
all remember Aladdin grown up as kids watching
that movie and all the things he has to go through
in that movie to Overcome his trials and sort
of went over went over the girl went over Jasmine
You know, Thundercats was something I really
did get into as a kid. I watched it a good deal.
Doesn't mean I remember everything about it because
I was really small, but I do remember being obsessed
with Lion -O and his sword. And I used to have
this little toy sword and I would go around and
hold it up and I would yell, give me sight beyond
sight. And that's what I did, and that's what
the power that the sword had. I think for that
reason, that childhood moment, I was so engulfed
in that character and everything. I'm going to
give the edge to Lion -O here. Aladdin's very
respectable. He did a lot of badass things. I'm
very, very close on this, but I'm just going
to give the edge to Lion -O for my childhood
sake. All righty. Greg, you have one vote Lionel,
you have one vote Aladdin. Well, I really didn't
watch Thundercats when I was little, so I know
nothing about the character. I just know Aladdin's
from the street show, and that's really badass.
You. That was that was a song they cut out there
was a lot of math that they were gonna have in
but didn't make the Yeah, and he fights a giant
crazy maniacal Jafar with magical powers at the
end. So I think I'm Abdul Jafar. Yes What was
this originally before you converted Cassius
clay So I I'm gonna have to go with Aladdin because
I don't really know anything about why I know
sorry Chuck Hey, that's okay. I didn't expect
him to make it. He's voting against Chuck's picks.
It's You know, I had slightly on site and I saw
this coming so All right, moving on to the next
matchup we have Another random one, but hey,
that's what that's the fun of it. That's this
this whole round is random It really is it really
is we have Abraham Lincoln I don't know why that
struck me funny Euclid's first common notion
is this things which are equal to the same thing
are equal to each other That's a rule of mathematical
reasoning it's true because it works has done
and always will do In his book, Euclid says this
is self -evident. You see, there it is. Even
in that 2 ,000 -year -old book of mechanical
law, it is a self -evident truth that things
which are equal to the same thing are equal to
each other. Going up against, who else? The Fonz
from Happy Days. Hey, hey, hey! What's a nice
lady like you doing in a place like that, huh?
Yeah, dull humdrum life. Why don't you throw
down your pencil and hustle over to my place
and be cool for the first time in your life?
What? Now what'd you say? What makes me think
I'm so cool? that makes me think i'm so that
is a great one of these classic matchups we hear
this one all the time who's a bigger badass abraham
lincoln or the fawns from happy days and Greg,
you and the last time I'll start with you here.
I don't know if you watch Happy Days or watch
Abraham Lincoln. I don't know. I'm guessing you
know who he is. But who do you think is a bigger
badass? Dan, I have a question for you first,
though. For the first round, the first 16, where
you're like, oh, I'm going to have some iced
tea and sit down and figure this out. And then
for this second part, where you like snorting
up cocaine and just downing crack constantly,
because it feels like a total disconnect between
the two. It kind of does I was going for I mean
there was a fun round Yeah, this is the more
this is the more like we're gonna be kind of
crazy this one This is a you know schools out
for summer and some of them some of them kind
of made sense, you know like I thought Khaleesi
and Patton kind of did because you have two leaders
of nations and Fulton Reed and Rodriguez and
Aladdin in what whatnot, but some of the other
ones. Yeah, I'm not gonna lie this if they were
didn't match up perfectly. They came up and they
came up this round. So it, uh, it led to some
intriguing matchups. Okay. That's probably people
are probably like, I don't care who gives a shit.
Just go on. So it's the Fonz versus Abraham Lincoln.
Abraham Lincoln, uh, was a wrestler and he's
actually in the hall of fame for wrestling. He
fought for the rights of African Americans, I
guess. Is it African Americans? Because at that
point, they were just Africans who were in America
enslaved. The slave trade was no longer, so they
were considered African. I guess technically
not then. Much worse, harsh words were used,
but yes, it would be considered African. So we've
got that technically down now. So he's done a
lot of great things. He's definitely badass,
beating people up, swinging an axe. He was a
freaking massive call man with a badass hat.
The Fonz had a leather coat and probably had
an STD. He might be the starter of the STDs.
Yes, he might be ground zero for that. They were
originally called FTDs. He rode around a motorcycle,
he hit shit, and it would fix and turn on and
automatically play records. That's pretty cool.
But overall the the the history of Abraham Lincoln,
he has a giant ass statue in Washington Did you
guys know that well to be fair the Fonz might
be getting one soon? So we we don't know yet.
It might be well Abraham Lincoln has one now
Dan one now So I'm gonna go with Abraham Lincoln.
This final rounds are gonna be awful Alrighty
so Go ahead and agree with you there. I look
at it this way the Fonz one of the coolest characters
of all time But also one of his biggest moments
was that infamous jumping the shark moment, which
has been synonymous with TV shows Becoming over
-the -top and ruining themselves. So when you're
tied to one of the worst moments in TV history
and your TV character Kind of hurts your badass
cred. So and those shorts were not badass that
he wore when he did that So because of that i'm
going with lincoln chuck I don't know if you're
gonna make it a sweep or you're gonna try to
convince us that the fawn should be moving on
Well, to be honest you took uh, he sort of took
the same argument right out of my mouth I was
gonna bring up jumping the shark thing Um, i'm
gonna make it a clean sweep. Don't get me wrong.
I love the fawns. I love happy days great show
great character, but uh, abraham lincoln just
He's total badass, you know growing up in the
wilderness and you know sort of working and Experiencing
hard work growing up and then just to become
the great leader that he did you know having
the having the cojones to sort of Do what he
did and stand in front of the nation and set
an example for them and everything You know,
and the top hat, that just puts it over the top,
you know? I mean, probably the most famous top
hat wearer of all time. I mean, the guy just
made it cool. So yeah, I got to go with Abe.
All right, Abe's moving on. Next match up, the
last match up of the first round for this bracket.
This one makes a little bit more sense to fictional
characters, though it might. be, I guess, a tough
matchup for at least the participants. We have
Peggy Carter from Captain America and Agent Carter.
Going up against... Her love interest, Captain
America, Steve Rogers. No. No, he wasn't. Chuck,
you ended last round. I'll start with you here.
Who is the bigger badass? Peggy Carter or Steve
Rogers? Oof, man. You're breaking out my favorite
character here, Cap. Captain America, I love
that character. Such an amazing character, iconic
character. Someone that I've... connected with
ever since I got into comics, but Peggy Carter
is the bigger badass. What? Yes. Oh, man, my
heart just. I don't know. I guess like I don't
consider I don't put Cap in the badass category
like he's stands for everything that's good.
I mean, he's he's badass in a way and the way
that he will stick up for things. He fights for
what he believes in, tries to lead by example.
But I think like sort of the arguments we used
for Black Panther last week where he's just such
a noble character, just has a lot of respect
and doesn't want to, doesn't really want to make
waves too much if you forget about Sivor. But,
uh, so I mean, to look at Peggy Carter, like,
you know, especially from the, from the TV show
is what I'm thinking of. You know, that was a
pretty amazing show and what she had to go through
as a woman in the 40s and sort of gaining respect
from all her male counterparts at Shield and
just kind of making her way and earning her own
respect and kicking some major ass along the
way and beating up all the guys. As far as badass,
you know, she does what it takes to get it done.
It really, really pains me here and I may regret
this, but I think I'm going to give it to Peggy
Carter. Greg, you've heard him. Do you agree
with Chuck that Peggy Carter is truly the bigger
badass or are you going with Steve Rogers? Chuck
makes tons of great points. I think there's one
point other than all he said for Cap. Cap had
to make this huge decision before he was Captain
America and he was just Steve Rogers to go through
this altering process that he didn't even know
if he was gonna live or die because of and he
was doing it to go fight a war where he didn't
know whether he was going to live or die. going
through. So I think that gives maybe just a little
bit more badass than Chuck was probably considering.
I'm not sure because I'm not in Chuck's head,
which would be weird if I was. But that definitely
brings him up a little bit for me on Peggy Carter.
But I still think Chuck has landed on a lot of
great points. I'm also going to go with Peggy.
Oh, wow. OK. So interesting. I guess, you know,
you guys make good points, and I was siding towards
Peggy Carter, or towards Cap, but I think the
points breaking up are good, and also thinking
the fact that you make a good point that Captain
America did have to go through this procedure,
but he also had to go through a procedure to
become really a badass. Before that, he wasn't
really, where Peggy Carter was kind of naturally
the way she is, and she was doing it in a time
where it was much more difficult for her, and
kind of going against what was... Allowed and
respected for a woman in that spot So because
of that, I guess I'll agree with you guys and
and one of the most stunning sweeps of this tournament
history Peggy Carter will be moving on as a bigger
badass than Captain America. I'm changing my
vote. I'm going back to cap I'm sorry cap. I'm
sorry Now we move on to round two so the winners
from last round are facing off against one another
our very first matchup we have Rick Rimes going
up against Casey Jones. And I ended last time,
so I will start this time. And man, I have no
idea when it comes to this matchup. I'm trying
to think of where the weakness points are. And
I guess one of the questions is when you come
to bigger badasses, which ones do you fear more?
And that's a tough one. Casey Jones has his weapons,
but Rick Rimes in some ways doesn't even need
weapons. As we've seen, he will literally use
his teeth. if he needs to. I also think that
similar to like Carol from last week Rick Grimes
will go to some places that Casey Jones wouldn't
be willing to go. I do think Casey Jones would
be someone that would probably survive well in
the zombie apocalypse but because he is you know
so formidable and a big badass and made it this
far because of that but just because we saw more
from Rick Grimes and what he is willing to do
to Survive. I gotta go with grimy on this one.
Please do not call him grimy again I will do
that in his place All right, Greg. I'll move
on to you. Who do you feel should win this back?
Yeah, I agree Rick Grimes is I feel like Rick
Grimes would do a lot more I think Casey Jones
is definitely gonna fall symptom to people's
emotions Whereas Rick Grimes would just go in
teeth Karen people and essentially it sounds
like turn into kind of a zombie himself And and
shooting his best friend, I don't think Casey
Jones would do that I could see I could see Casey
Jones shooting Raphael in the head Maybe you
know, maybe maybe but I don't I don't think he
would shoot April when you know or any anything
like that. I Think even if April not not very
he'd be very like I don't know what to do Maybe
maybe Alrighty great Chuck. So are you gonna
make it a clean sweep? Are you gonna try to convince
us that Casey Jones should be moving on? I'm
gonna be boring and make it a clean sweep I think
I guess my reasoning is that if I were to switch
those characters and put each of them in the
others situation I Definitely think Rick would
have what it takes to do what Casey Jones does.
I think he could He could go out there and give
it his all and sort of be a vigilante type character.
But if you were to put Casey Jones in Rick's
position in the zombie apocalypse, I'm not sure
if he'd be willing to go as far as Rick has and
sort of do those things that need to be done
to protect his group. So I'm just giving edge
to Rick. All right. Rick Grimes is moving on.
Next matchup we have Benny the Jet Rodriguez
from the Sandlot going up against Wonder Woman
This is where the random becomes even more random
and Chuck I'll go right back to you since you
ended last time Who is the bigger bad ass here?
This seems such like a weird matchup. Like, let's
put a 13 year old boy up against a scantily clad
Amazon woman. I'm sure he appreciates it. He's
like, I don't care if I lose. Really, I don't.
Oh, wow. They would probably last about three.
Yeah. Oh, poor guy. They don't call him the jet
for nothing. No. That was so wrong. Boy, I'm
really having trouble. I know I vouched for Benny
Rodriguez last round, and I went against Wonder
Woman last round, but I think I'm going to flip
-flop that, and I'm going to vote for Wonder
Woman this time around. Her resume to me is very,
very extensive, and I can't really put anything...
That Benny Rodriguez has done that would match
the sort of things that Wonder Woman has done.
So You know simply put I'm I'm going to Wonder
Woman Fair enough. I will I will go ahead and
I will Second that I again this is coming from
someone who the Sandlot's one of my top five
favorite films of all time But I just think his
resume is necessarily as badass as Wonder Woman,
you know, he's a legend He's a cool kid. But
like when it comes to like badass ability or
overall Complete package plus like you wonder
like what would he grow up to be like like in
high school? Would he really be cool or would
he be that kid? You hate that's just so arrogant
and cocky and now he's a town legend I could
see these people everyone not liking him And
if you look at like when I came to when the other
baseball team came and was insulting Everyone
that was playing there. It wasn't Benny the jet
that was sticking out for them It was ham sitting
saying all those great one -liners like you play
ball like a girl Benny the jet kind of just hung
out in the back If a true badass I think would
have come to the forefront and defended his friends
where he didn't in that situation So because
of that, I'm gonna go with Wonder Woman but uh,
Greg are you making a clean sweep? Are you putting
a vote towards Benny Rodriguez? Yeah, I don't
think it's really any kind of competition. I
agree with everything you guys said so I'm just
gonna leave it at that and go with Wonder Woman
All righty moving on to the next matchup. And
again, these are Random becoming more random
and we have general George Patton going up against
Aladdin I'm waiting for that Disney movie. I
can't wait for that Disney movie. It'll be amazing
But Greg you ended last time one of you start
here who was winning this I guess they both became
leaders of men Windows have a magic carpet, you
know and a pet yeah, and he consults a awesome
genie The patent is an actual general. Uh, oh
I'm gonna go with patent. I I have really no
explanation for it other than that. So uh, you
guys have fun well, i'll pick this one up next
and Man, it is it is a random matchup. I don't
even know where to start aladdin does have some
badass cred, but patent like is a leader of people.
He certainly is an inspiration. Aladdin kind
of has to get his inspiration from a magical
genie. And that's where, like, you know, he's
able to become Sultan, really, in a magic carpet.
It's really his friends that are making Aladdin,
in a lot of ways, be successful, where it's people
looking to Patton. And I think if Patton walked
in a room and Aladdin walked into a room, Aladdin
would, like... run into the corner if he's scolded
by Patton. So because of that, I'm going to go
with Patton as well. Chuck, ending with you here,
do you agree or are you going to vote Aladdin
for this one? This matchup is so ridiculous that
I have to resort to ridiculous means to make
my decision. I'm going to look at the mode of
transportation for these two particular gentlemen.
Aladdin rides a carpet. And Patton rides a tank.
So, uh, Patton is more badass. Sorry. Wow. That's
pretty much all you need to say. Perfect. All
right. This is kind of next matchup. Again, a
real -life character fictional character, but
they may maybe make a little bit more sense here.
And we have Abraham Lincoln going up against
Peggy Carter. And Chuck, I'll throw our right
back to you again. Who's winning this matchup?
Who's a bigger badass? Bigger badass. I know
I vouched for Peggy Carter last round. I picked
her over my beloved Captain America, but I think
for it to take vengeance upon myself, I'm going
to vote against her here. No, but I think Abe
Lincoln is just such an iconic person in all
of history. Just the great things he's done.
Like Greg said, the man has a ginormous statue
in Washington of him. Just the impact was felt.
throughout the nation, throughout the world,
so to speak, sort of setting an example. I think
those accomplishments are greater than, yeah,
I know Peggy Carter has participated in the saving
of the world. I think Abe Lincoln was a big part
of saving the world from some really dark times.
So I'm going to go with Mr. Lincoln. Greg, do
you agree with Chuck or are you going to go with
Peggy Carter? Yeah, I'll go with Chuck, I guess.
I have really no idea what to do here. Another
pretty random matchup. I know. I feel like I
shouldn't move Abraham. I should try and eliminate
the actual people just to make it easier in the
last rounds, but that wouldn't be very... very
kosher to to the game where I got going here
um so yeah I'm gonna go with Abraham Lincoln
he's he's just done a lot more even though he's
not physically probably as badass as Peggy that's
not like a sexual thing that's just like She
can definitely kick a lot more ass than Abraham
Lincoln, but he's Abraham Lincoln has enabled
freeing people and stuff like that. So I'm going
to go with Lincoln and he got shot in the back
of the head and survived. Didn't he survive for
a little bit before he passed away? He did. He
didn't. He didn't die. That's badass. And I mean,
don't forget, Abraham Lincoln has been documented.
He has fought vampires, so. Let's not forget
that part of his character. And so that, I mean,
that's a huge, huge element. He can wield that
axe like no one. And he is a pretty formidable
foe. There's actually a great movie called Young
Mr. Lincoln, where you see a young Lincoln, obviously.
And he's kind of a cocky, more arrogant, but
certainly one of the toughest guys in the entire
state that he is hiding in. People are pretty
much scared of him because he's such a formidable
person. So because of that, I'm going to go with
Lincoln as well. which actually sends up a pretty
awesome matchup for next round which is what
i thought kind of might happen when we put this
together so i'm kind of glad to see it actually
is taking hold but before we get that we have
this matchup which we have two comic book characters
going against one another and we have rick grimes
from the walking dead against Wonder Woman from
DC. I've been going Grimes pretty much the whole
time and also Wonder Woman for the most part
so it's kind of tough but the part I'm thinking
of here is that Rick Grimes also has a huge amount
of mental instability when it comes to comes
to him. For a great part of the TV series even
at least he almost becomes a detriment to the
entire group he's in because he he loses his
grip of reality and sees his wife and it's he
almost like becomes like unable to recognize
anything that's going on he becomes kind of whiny
in some ways and Because of that it's the other
characters really that are the ones that ended
up Allowing the group to defeat the governor
It's really like he has to kind of get a kick
in the butt to get over himself and realize what
he needs to do And it's really a son Carl who
really steps up to the plate and does what needs
to be done So because of that because of his
mental instability at times and the fact that
he's actually You know hurt his team in an occasion.
I want to go and say Wonder Woman is the bigger
badass Chuck I'll move on to you next. Who do
you feel is a bigger badass Wonder Woman or Rick
Grimes tough matchup, but Two pretty good comic
characters here. I'm gonna go Wonder Woman as
well. I think Like you bring up a lot of good
points about Rick being a detriment to his team
at times but also I really liked your point about
the his mental instability because I feel like
Wonder Woman is very Decisive and she's very
adamant about where she stands on certain things
and Knowing that sort of having everything preset
you know going into battles and different things
like she will stand up for what she believes
in and she has she is perfectly mentally stable
and I think that has sort of an inherent badass
to it like that she's willing to stand her ground
on the same things every time and I don't know
I just think she's she's uh she's got it going
on you know Greg does she have it going on or
is Rick Grimes really the bigger now? I definitely
think you guys made some great points with his
mental stability. So I will also go for I Can't
wait to the Wonder Woman TV series comes out
and that's it Alright, so this is gotta be this
matchup actually all that randomness I think
it's gonna pay off for this really cool matchup
and who is the bigger badass general George Patton
or Abraham Lincoln I mean, come on now, that's
that's that's a conversation we all wanted to
have as kids, right? I mean, but Greg, you had
the last time, so I'll start with you here. Who's
going to be facing off against Wonder Woman in
the finals? Should it be Patton? Should it be
Lincoln? I think it should be Patton Lincoln.
Yeah, Malcolm Lincoln. So difficult. I'm gonna
go with this noise until I figure it out. Uh,
I'm gonna go with, uh, Patton, because he was
actually in there leading his men into battle
on the front lines, about to get killed every
two seconds. Well, not every two seconds, but
you get exaggerated, but you get what I'm saying.
So I'm going to go with Patton. Chuck, are you
putting Patton onto the next round or are you
throwing a vote towards Lincoln? Super, super
tough match up here. Uh, wow. Talking about two
historic icons in US history Boy, I guess the
only thing that I can sort of think of right
now is that Patton sort of Sort of fought his
battles with a certain aggressiveness and assertiveness
and he had his very Very rough and tumble way
about him to get things accomplished, you know
a lot of tough love A lot of anger, possibly,
I guess. I look at Lincoln and how he got things
accomplished. Very soft spoken, so to speak,
but also very heavy and very important with his
words. Fought his battles with his speeches very
much so. And I think just sort of having that
calm and collected nature, so sure of himself
and what he was doing. I think... I think he
accomplished more with with the less he sort
of took the road less traveled and and sort of
took the badass way of accomplishing things.
And I think he was a little bit bigger influence
in what he did. So I'm going to I'm going to
vote Abe here. Man, man. All right. Living it
down. That's the only reason Jack did that. How
does it feel? It feels I mean, you made a great
point last to the fact the fact that Patton's
vehicle is a tank kind of badass. Look at the
opening to Pat and that that speech hugely inspirational
Definitely badass, but I think the one huge badass
quality Lincoln had that maybe Patton didn't
was patience considering in understanding like
being able to be selfless when he needed to be
and Because of that because like he I think Lincoln
looked at the whole picture or maybe a little
bit more and was Just as inspirational as Patton,
but maybe a little bit more compassionate, which
I guess maybe badass would be more Patton though,
because maybe it's more badass to be tough love.
It's tough, but I don't know. I think Lincoln
would not fuck if he was to face off against
Patton. You know, I think history shows he obviously
was hated, but still did what he needed to do
and And like again like we do with the fact that
we have information that Lincoln may have fought
vampires I mean that story came from someplace.
It wasn't all fictional But it's it's tough Pat
and Patton is certainly there but I think some
of the points Greg you made up the beginning
about him almost like Like I feel like Winklin's
probably a little bit more respected and more
inspiring and where Patton could be a little
bit more harsh and a little bit too too over
-the -top Occasionally with some people so because
of that it's tough. It's it's harder Maybe I'm
not technically looking at badass and looking
at different things, but you know, whatever it's
Lincoln He's on the penny. That's pretty badass
and the $5 bill The $5 bill is definitely more
badass than a penny And I mean it like he has
that look though Let's also look at the fact
that Lincoln has that statue and look at like
look at him sitting there He looks like a badass
in that chair. Like it's he's just like, you
know hanging out in his pimp chair So I'll go
I'll go that's the plus That's the first thing
that the apes altered in the plane of the apes
when they you know, they redid that So that leads
up to one of the most Random final matchups for
this bracket to go up against rocket raccoon
and that is who's a bigger badass wonder woman
or or Abraham Lincoln and and this is this is
tough and obviously you go a real -life person
fictional character, but I think this is the
time I'm gonna go fictional character because
Look at Wonder Woman in her fictional world.
She's a leader. She's inspirational, but she's
also on there on the battlefield on fighting
foes going up against gods and doing all that
whilst being being the leader of these of a group
of people and Because of that and the fact that
she has to rebel against some of her mother's
wishes at times And because like she's kind of
got everything going for her So be I'm gonna
go Wonder Woman and say she's a bigger badass
than Abraham Lincoln Which is something I thought
I would never say in my life, but there's a first
time for everything Greg I'll move on to you
next. Who do you think is a bigger badass Wonder
Woman or Lincoln? Yeah, I'm going to go kind
of with the same argument that I had with Patton.
She's on the front lines. She's always risking
her life where Abraham Lincoln was kind of when
he got into the White House was kind of protected
and had a kind of manicured lifestyle at the
White House. So I'm going to go with. Wonder
Woman who I agree with a lot of the other stuff
that you said in this this round So I'm also
going to go with Wonder Woman Alright Chuck moving
on to you. I mean you tech we technically have
two votes for Wonder Woman, but I mean it's been
tough I could definitely be swayed. I'll put
that out there if I hear a good argument I might
be able to fill a vote towards Lincoln and be
the first time in my life where I'm little literally
able to vote for Lincoln But who is the bigger
badass Abraham Lincoln or Wonder Woman? I guess
what I'm thinking of here is sort of Wonder Woman
has the ferocity, the tenacity of a Patton. She's
sort of the female version of him, but without
the drawbacks that we cited for General Patton.
So I feel like for that reason and I feel so
bad. Picking a fictional character over a real
person, but I'm gonna go with under women as
well to be fair It's not like yeah, you know,
it's we're not voting over who's more important,
right? Definitely Lincoln, but the badass the
you know ferocious badass. I'm going Wonder Woman
So we have DC versus Marvel in our final. It's
interesting last year We had Thanos and Adrian
Peterson going up against one another this week
this year. We have Rocket raccoon versus which
one of these people will be the child Full of
love at least this time we don't have to worry
about any of these characters getting arrested
rocket rocket well depends who writes it actually
All right, so Chuck you ended last time we'll
start with you here Who is it's been a while
since we talked about rocket raccoon so it's
but he's been kind of waiting around, you know
Just chilling out suddenly an Amazon comes and
he has to compare his badass cred Who is the
the badass champion for 2015 Wonder Woman? Rocket
rectangle if you're gonna if you're gonna pick
a matchup that would that would be so close With
two similar characters. I mean this would be
it and in my mind like wow This is just really
really close. This is neck and neck here Wow,
I look at these two characters Sort of very similar
in the in the stories that I've read now I'm
not thinking of like the old -school Wonder Woman
because she can get tied up like no tomorrow
But she was very good at that. But I'm talking
about the more she was the original 50. She was.
But I'm talking the more modern Wonder Woman
and some of the newer stories where she is quite
badass. Wow. I don't know. I'm trying to think
of sort of some of the things that we said about
Rocket in the last, you know, in the last episode.
Some things that come to mind, we talked about
the fact that he's going against Celestial level
foes. He is ferocious. He, you know, he has to
be a badass all the time. He's always this little
runt that's disrespected, so he always has to
put on that badass credibility in order for people
to kind of not trump him or try to take advantage
of him. So he definitely has huge guns and is
not afraid to use them. So he definitely does.
That's some of the stuff I'm thinking we talked
about last week. Yeah, for sure. And I know...
I know you mentioned that point where he sort
of consistently has to prove himself because
of his size and you know people take him seriously
and obviously he's gained a reputation over the
years but if you sort of if you don't look at
that you look at people that haven't come across
him but I think one woman has sort of that same
quality as well because she's sort of you know
she's living in a man's world where and she comes
from a place where They believe in the foolishness
and the arrogance of mankind. So she's sort of
living in this world where no one's taking her
as seriously as some of the male superheroes,
but she more often than not outshines her male
counterparts and consistently proves them wrong.
So I think she sort of has that same quality
as Rocket. And I think the only thing that...
is my deciding factor right now, and I could
be swayed, but if you guys decide to go another
way, but I think what I'm looking at is we talked
about Rocket Raccoon being sort of an engineered
soldier, sort of created, experimented on, things
of that nature, where as Wonder Woman, she has
trained her whole life, really hardcore, intense
training to perfect her... her athletic ability
of her body to perfect her fighting skills, just
the sheer grit and determination for enduring
that training over the years and having the will
to keep moving forward and bettering yourself.
I gotta give Wonder Woman the edge for that.
So Wonder Woman is my vote for 2015 Badass. All
right, a lot of good points there. Greg, are
you going to agree with him or are you going
to make things difficult for me and make me decide?
Go with Rocket Raccoon. Well, here's the thing
with Rocket Raccoon. I feel like if Rocket Raccoon
and Wonder Woman met, Rocket Raccoon would show
no fear and completely hit on Wonder Woman and
try and take advantage of that. Even if he was
going to get punched his face, he would be Determined
to get with Wonder Woman. So I think Facing something
like that. I I give it to Rocket Raccoon because
that is definitely pretty pretty scary Alrighty
Wow, so hmm, I guess I am the ultimate deciding
factor this this year and Last year was Chuck
and he should process all by going Adrian Peterson
This year, I don't know, because I've been voting
for both of these characters. And trying to find
some flaws in Wonder Woman's badass cred. Part
of it, I don't know a great deal about her. I
mean, I'm not as versed in her as I am Rocket
Raccoon. But one thing that keeps sticking in
my head is actually a comment that was made on
last episode post asking, would Rocket Raccoon
be as big of a badass if he did not have Groot
on his side? Knowing that he's there to kind
of protect him. It's a good question to ask.
He's not I'm technically roots not always there
There's occasions where Groot is demolished and
destroyed and gone for a few a few issues But
you know, he definitely is his protection flash
house So do you have that? But I mean you do
have a good point though that he has no fear.
So does so does So does Wonder Woman I'm thinking
of the Justice League doom storyline or what?
Babylon in the comics where? What was her biggest
weakness was the fact that she was just fighting
to the bitter end where they had to use that
Against her like that was her weakness was there's
a determination. That's Insane when you think
about it Superman's weakness is a shiny rock
Batman's weakness is that he's a pansy. No, not
really. I don't know what Batman's weakness is.
He I don't know So the only chunk I could think
of is maybe like he he and he was like we I mentioned
last week Went in the final that he was manufactured
like he maybe a lot of those abilities were given
to him not earned It's tough. It's I really want
to go rocket raccoon, but I can't think of a
legitimate argument to say Or a full argument
to say that wonder woman isn't a badass for whatever
reason I can't maybe there's one out there. I
can't think of it and I'm running out of time
because Because as we as we all know these are
timed episodes. We only have certain amount of
stuff with the filibuster, Dan I Feel like I
feel like mr. Smith goes to washington old school
reference, but no I'm gonna it pains me as a
marvel guy is a guardians of gar a galaxy fan.
I'm not even big wonder one fan, but Have to
admit I got I got nothing in this one. So I have
to give it to Wonder Woman and make her the 2015
Badass champion for talking in circles and geocast
radio Which is not at all what I expected not
at all what I expected a rocket raccoon He he
fought a very tough fight, but he lost to a great
foe and you know the Amazon warrior in herself,
so I don't know any anything else before we end
completely end the badass bracket for 20 that
was exhausting Like people wanted us to do 64
Chuck they wanted us to do double I know but
like look at these look at this cast of character
that took like 95 % of my brain power just to
get through this The other 5 % was breathing
and thinking about food I'm just glad that nothing
this champion can't do anything horribly negative
and in the last year, you know Maybe after the
movie comes out. It'll be like awful and she'll
be really bad. It'll be like the cat woman But
yeah, it's fun. It was it was it was a good time.
We hope you guys enjoyed it I hope you guys enjoyed
listening to it, but we'll be sure to do it again
next year I know some people ask to do it more
often and I don't know I think it's a little
bit more special when we only do it once a year
It makes a little bit more unique and I don't
know if my brain can plus it's it's kind of a
giant production between you finding clips to
put in and me finding pictures to make the the
bracket itself and it does take quite a bit of
Time up during the podcast We do have limited
schedules here Yeah, yeah, so I mean, I'm glad
people love it. Yeah, great. I appreciate the
feedback, but it makes a little bit more special
I think if we did too much it'd be it would it
would it would lose that that that interesting
but I said there are episodes like versus on
GeekCastRadio .com that do similar things and
if you're at all interested in this definitely
check that out, but We do like to end each episode
with a letter and Greg, you have a letter for
this. Yes, I do. Why don't you turn a couple
pages from my doodlings here and I will start
reading. OK. Dear comic consumers, fans or whomever
finds this relevant. As a lot of you may know,
there has been a huge controversy controversy
this past week in the world of comics. Yes, this
has to do with the. with Batgirl number 41 variant
cover. Hopefully I can get Dan to link to it.
That has to do with Batgirl in her current costume
being casually restrained by the Joker. He has
a gun in one hand that lays casually off her
shoulder. The other hand paints a Joker's grin
on Batgirl as a single tear comes from her eye.
Joker wears his tire from The Killing Joke by
Alan Moore. Killing Joke is where Barbara Gordon
is shot and is stuck in a wheelchair as a result.
Apparently there was some implied sexual assault
that I never really picked up on reading the
story. This cover has brought back a controversy
that came from The Killing Joke. The horribleness
of assaulting sexual and otherwise, which as
we all know is horrible. Guess what people? Horrible
things happen every day and stories reflect life.
So we will have stories with horrible situations.
These stories aren't real. They are for amusement
and to teach a lesson like don't shoot someone.
Don't put your clown dick where it doesn't belong.
Joker is a villain. He has been established as
that since day one. Guess what? You should have
learned a long time ago. Don't do what the villain
does. As for Rafael Albuquerque, Albuquerque,
I guess his last name is, I'm sorry if I mispronounced
it, stopping the cover from being used. He was
the artist behind it. It's his cover. It's his
decision for whatever reason. I also find it
understandable that they don't want to use this
cover because it doesn't fit this current runs
tone. I guess that's all I have to say about
that sounding like Forrest Gump signed Greg,
but I also have a PS. I emailed Raphael to see
if I could buy that drawing. I really thought
it was a great cover. Joker coming out of the
shadows, putting his arm around Batgirl and everything.
I thought it was a great looking cover and I
was really interested in it. So I asked if there
was a chance to buy it, but I have not heard
back from him so far. If I do get an email from
him, I will let you guys know. I didn't hear
about this until I saw your email regarding it,
or your information that you're writing about
it, and I looked it up. I guess it makes sense
if that's what the person who wrote it didn't
want to do. It's a touchy subject, so I can kind
of see both sides. Yeah, I can too. It's just
at the end of the day it ... is a comic book.
It's about stories. It's a good thing that it
does bring up the discussion, but at the end
of the day, I think it's a no -brainer. This
is a story. You shouldn't do this terrible stuff.
Use your brain. You don't hurt other people.
don't get the fact that they're saying that it
shouldn't be represented because it just brings
up this opportunity. So I think they do need
to do these types of artwork that is thought
provoking. These things do need to come out.
And at the end of the day, it is just a story.
It's not actually happening to anybody. Nobody's
actually being hurt at the end of the day from
this. If somebody is claiming that they're doing
things because of this, they're just a bunch
of assholes that can't use their brain properly
at the end of the day, to be quite honest. If
you have a different opinion, let us know. I
could definitely see it both ways, though, but
I can definitely see it. Center seems a little
bit is difficult. I guess part of it I guess
DC said that they don't want to approach their
that subject Yeah, that's another fine reason
to not do it. They just don't want to and at
the end of the day it is their character Yeah,
I mean, I don't I agree with you. I think fiction
in itself should Approach difficult topics. So
I don't think it's if the idea is no fiction
shouldn't then I'm against it But yeah, I mean,
there's I think a lot there's a huge train you
can go down with with that one So at least it's
this decision made by the guy who did yeah, I
could definitely see how it's a touchy subject
but um just to make a comic sort of reference
And it actually was from DC, which, you know,
I think it was, I believe it was back in the
90s. One of their characters, Elongated Man,
his wife, Sue Dibney, was raped by Dr. Light,
the villain Dr. Light. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
And that was a source of... hatred for that character
for a long time, not only by fans, but like the
other members of the Justice League. And, you
know, there were there were some members that,
you know, got a hold of him and literally like
beat the shit out of him, like two of an inch
of his life. So it's, you know, it's interesting
that they sort of are taking this stance now
when they have they've had things with that and
in the past. But I definitely see how it's a
difficult topic and everything, but. Yeah, we
can even talk about like Hank which is not maybe
as severe but Hank Pym and you know The Ultimates
or with his history and stuff like that. So it's
definitely a topic that's been approached in
In comics and fiction before so it is I'm curious
I mean, I guess maybe since it's such an iconic
storyline that it's going against maybe it's
could be I'm not I'm not up and I'm not in in
the world of DC enough to really really Explain
where it's coming from. So But anyways, we would
love to hear your thoughts on that or the badass
bracket or anything we talked about today. And
there's lots of ways to get in contact with us.
You can email us at feedback at keycastrader

And you guys are also on Twitter. What are your
Twitter names? I am at heroicagechuck. And I
am at thecreateforge. But anyways, that'll be
it for us for this week. We'll be back next week
same time same channel same podcast feed But
for now, this has been Chuck. This has been Greg
or our badass Wonder Woman And this has been
Dan and we've been talking in circles, we'll
see you next week So I just wonder how much crap
gonna get from all the fanboys of Abraham Lincoln
about him I don't know if we're going to worry
about that. We have probably people listening
that are so young and they're probably like,
who's Abraham Lincoln? And I hope people not
that young aren't listening to this or whatever.
Yeah, after the clown day comments. I want to
see them go up to some town and ask what that
was. Is that white too? Like the rest of his
skin? It was pasty white, but then I was gonna
say that he has a pipe at the end with the slit
that's like a little red line there to do a little
joker smile. This is how I pictured it, and then
he has hairy green cubes. Yeah, the green p -
