About this Episode

Chuck, Greg, and Dan kick off their second annual badass bracket tournament, inspired by March Madness but geekified. They're narrowing the competition from 64 characters down to 32 and covering the first half of the bracket this week. Matchups include Darth Vader vs. Captain Kirk, Zach Morris vs. Vanilla Ice, Black Panther vs. Carol from The Walking Dead, the Predator vs. Boba Fett, and more, with the hosts voting on who deserves to advance based on their own criteria for what makes someone a true badass.

Hey, this is Bill Corrales from the Sketches

Indiegogo campaign and you're listening to Talking

in Circles on the Geekcast Radio Network. You

are now on the inside of what I like to call

the circle of trust. We are all connected in

a great circle of life. You know something, Bert?

What? I think you and I are going in circles.

It feels like we're going in circles. The circle

is now complete. When I left you, I was but the

learner. Now I am the master. Because it's a

circle. Yeah, we heard about the circle. Yeah,

it's what millions would change. Hi, this is

Chuck. This is Greg. And this is Dan, and we

are Talking in Circles, brought to you by the

GeekCast Radio Network. the podcast that's going

to be talking about some truly big badasses this

week as we continue our story tradition of our

badass bracket. It's been two years in the making.

Last year we did this and we're bringing it back

again, inspired by Marsh Madness that's going

on. Well, we're going to take that idea and we're

going to geekify it a little bit, but we'll get

to that in our second segment. But before we

get to all the badassness, how's the week been

going for you guys? This week was kind of boring.

I had to go to a training for my work yesterday.

So I was kind of gone all day for that. But that

was the most random thing, too, because like

we drove down there. It was like an hour and

a half drive to where the training was being

held. And it was supposed to be like a three

hour training, like a three hour class. A three

hour two. It was on a boat and we got lost. No.

And you're actually you're podcasting through

a coconut Yeah So like it was funny because it

was supposed to be three hours So the guy just

has like a PowerPoint presentation and he goes

through it in about an hour and a half And he's

like, well, that's all I got We're like really

We were literally in the car longer than we were

at this class and then we drove all the way back

and I just felt like this huge waste I'm like

He totally could have like emailed this or did

a webinar or something. Yeah. Sweet. I don't

know. Awesome. That's awesome. Greg, how's your

weekend? All right. It's also been boring here.

I think I might be getting a cold. I went the

whole winter without having one. And at the end

here, it seems like I might get one. So that's

always exciting. I took a giant nap after I got

home, which was excellent. I feel bad because

yeah, but I felt bad because I didn't work out

and I've been kind of slacking on my, uh, working

out. And if everybody's heard other podcasts

that we've been doing, I've been working on the

P 90 X. They have 90 days and they're kind of

all scheduled out. So I feel bad whenever I miss

one, but I've been really bad like the past two

weeks, like, so I'm, I'm really behind schedule

on that. We need to do is get one of those electrical

chalk like belts that you can wear that like

supposed to make give you six pack abs I'm just

wearing this belt Well, I have like a little

electric shocker back massage thing with essentially

that's what that is and I could just take it

instead of putting it on my back where it makes

my Back muscles feel awesome because my back's

fucked up and just switched around to my abs

Nice nice Yeah, interesting. Well that kind of

leads to like one of my stories, but I'll go

get there eventually But yeah, I'm getting way

too good at changing flat tires again damn No,

not me this time though. So I get a text my wife

on Monday Last Friday, we're talking about how

would it be really big snowstorm? But and then

on Sunday, we got really warm weather and like

kind of rain So we went from having 10 inches

of snow to like 60 degrees and rain So, you know

a variety of temperatures with snow, you know

what that means potholes. It was like Pennsylvania

all over the place So she was driving to work

on Monday. She hit a really bad pothole and got

a flat tire But like it didn't really become

flat until she got to work But she had a doctor's

appointment that day. So I ended up actually

leaving work early going to her work because

she's a teacher. So she can't just take time

off or take a half day. I can kind of do that

with my job. So you go to her like change her

tire in her parking lot at work, you know, go

to get it fixed. But like the thing is, she didn't

like the tire itself was fine, but she hit the

pothole so hard that she actually bent. Yeah,

that happens. Luckily was fixable, but it had

to wait a few days for that to get fixed and

yet ended up spending yesterday, which would

be last week You know getting that fixed but

it was kind of a productive because I dropped

off the car walked across the street You know

what got some nice food at this place called

firehouse subs, which is interesting because

it's a chain apparently which I never heard of

but it's like kind of like a little bit step

up from Quiznos where the kind of they toast

their subs and I got like a Barbecue brisket.

Mmm, which was which was a good time. It wasn't

you know delicious, but it was for like, you

know a fast food sub not too bad It was a good

time and then walked over to a Sports clips,

you know the haircut place got my haircut and

it was kind of weird though because it was the

first time I was there and we go the first time

you get an MVP package and what's kind of weird

about that is that like part of it is like getting

this massager thing, but it's just like gun they

use And so you basically sitting in the chair

and they have this gun They're like holding at

a distance from you and it's the most awkward

thing ever. You're just like this is kind of

really weird You just have this gun on my back

and it's like a massager thing And i'm just kind

of sitting here and it looks like you're just

really decent. You're like, it's like you're

pumping gas It's like that's like the face you're

looking i'm like, this is just awkward You know,

it's always awkward getting a haircut anyways,

because you're like do I talk do I not talk?

Do I you know that that's why I go to the same

girl every time for a haircut See I never go

to the same person but so but it was nice and

then finally got it fixed But it was it was I'm

getting sick of changing tires. I can say that

I'm good at it though I'm like you're like the

NASCAR pit crew at this point Besides that I

did I didn't want to mention one thing before

we take a quick break and that's the comedy last

man on earth I wanted bringing up because we

talked about it last week and And I was highly

anticipating it and I watched the first episode

which is kind of like a double episode It's like

an hour -long premiere, which is really just

two episodes back -to -back and I gotta say I

I really dug it a great deal It's probably one

of the most original comedies i've seen on network

tv in quite a long time i'm really surprised

it's like on fox because of just how unique it

is and kind of a It's out of the norm of normal

comedies and uh, i'm really going to like will

forte as a comedian Didn't like you know, like

I'm a great deal on SNL but I thought he was

great in Nebraska and this is like fits him perfectly

because There's a slight bit of tragedy to his

comedy, but it's kind of fun the first episode

It's just like him kind of dicking around around

the city because he's like the last guy doing

a lot of crazy things and Greg I think you'd

really find it funny because I'm pretty sure

a lot of it you'd be like, yep I would totally

yeah, it was really good when I saw the commercials.

I just you guys know me at this point Yeah, that's

why I watched it on demand. So I missed it. I

missed the second episode too. I need to go back

and watch it. But, you know, he's like playing,

uh, you know, bowling with cars, you know, like

this escalation where it's like, I'm using bowling

pins. And then he's like using, you know, bowling

against, uh, aquariums. And eventually he's using

cars to do bowling and stuff like that. And just

kind of, there are a lot of. Interesting ideas

and concepts. I do there's a little bit of a

twist at the end of the first and second episode

I don't want to give away to this going on different

direction My only question is like can they keep

it up because it's you know with that concept

I'm like, is there you know, is there a limit

to what you can do? Especially for comedy. I

mean like The Walking Dead is one thing because

that's like a drama and you can find drama there

But you know, I wonder like can you can sustain

this? Comedically, maybe you can I mean I'd be

interested so far. It's it's worked really well

I mean the first episode would work really well

just as like a standalone like short film by

itself But uh, yeah, I'm looking forward to it

and hopefully it sustains itself at least for

the first season I have a feeling it'll get cancelled

though because I don't know it seems too oddball

for network television that I don't think it'll

Do all that well in the ratings or anything.

I actually saw an episode of that then I Didn't

see the first one I don't think but it was and

I think it might be after the thing that you

didn't want to give away So I don't want to give

it away either, but I actually thought was pretty

funny Nice I was kind of laughing my ass off

through most of it Especially how you made a

a pooper out of the diving board on the pool

It's pretty it's pretty great speaking the ways

that you keep up we had some comments last For

last week you talked about fresh off the boat

and you watched the first episode Did you watch

any more of that or did you did you give up on

it? Um, I haven't gotten a chance to yet. I've

kind of been uh busy, but I did see some of the

comments people were writing that uh to check

out a couple more episodes, so I do plan on doing

that but um Just had just been a little bit too

occupied this week. So Yeah, i'm busy taking,

you know, three hours to drive to an hour and

a half But before we get let's also touch upon

one thing last week We talked about the Avengers

trailer and apparently every week a new Marvel

trailer gets announced and this week It was for

the TV show daredevil And like last week, Greg

hasn't had the opportunity to see it, which is

probably smart because it does seem like it gives

away a lot. But we did see more information on

Daredevil. This does seem to be an actual trailer,

not just a teaser. You get more on the kingpin

and a little bit more background. So Chuck, now

that we have more about the Daredevil series

and what is it going to be like, are you more

excited, less excited, or about where you were

previously? I am much more excited. I thought

this trailer was excellent. I'm not so sure that

it gave away too much, but for me, anyway, it

just sort of built the suspense even more. And

a couple of things that really left an impression

on me was basically like I was a big fan of the

Ben Affleck movie, unlike most people. For some

reason, I did connect with that movie. I kind

of liked it. But one thing I was disappointed

that movie about was the character, the kingpin,

and I felt like they never really fleshed him

out at all. He was just sort of there just to

be the bad guy. So one thing that I like really

noticed in this trailer was like Vincent D 'Onofrio

looked like really convincing as the kingpin.

I'm just like so interested in what he's going

to do with this character because he's pretty

good actor. I mean, he's on Law and Order, right?

He's been on Law and Order as CSV. No, no. CPS

X RT zero it's also in the first men in black

Yeah, yeah, I've seen him around and I'm like,

you know, I he's a pretty good actor so I was

curious of like what he's gonna do with this

character cuz you know, that's something I wasn't

happy with in the movie and this is a chance

for them to really do that villain, right and

You know, just sort of over lord of all the crime.

See a black person play the bill. Oh, yeah, you

know me Actually, I like Michael Clarke Duncan

a lot, but like they just didn't give him anything

to work with in that movie. He was very cool

and kind of imposing in the Daredevil movie.

Yeah. And he had like three parts. Awesome. Yeah.

He had like three parts in that. And, you know,

it's kind of hard to do anything with that. But

but this version of Wilson Fisk, I mean, this

looks really intriguing. Like it looks like they

sort of get into his like mentality a little

bit more. And there's a little bit more. Interaction

between him and daredevil and that looks really

cool Definitely it is. It's weird seeing Fulton

Weed read who we'll talk about not probably next

week playing foggy Nelson, you know the guy wasn't

But uh, yeah, it looks those look really good

I really like I'm really liking the guy who's

playing daredevil. It does seem rather dark,

but it really fits that character I know it's

like the joke now is everything's dark and dreary,

but I don't think you can do daredevil like upbeat

And do it right. I mean, there's probably I mean

mark wade's run on it is a little bit more Positive

than a lot of their devil stuff, but I think

he's such a tragic character So I think it really

fits him really well and uh, I like you said

I think it's great that they're gonna be able

to explore some of the villains a little bit

more and like get time and really kind of Expand

upon who they are and i'm questioning I wonder

if they're gonna have more than kingpin if they're

gonna have a couple villains or how it's gonna

work I don't know. I know they talked about purple

man for You cage, but i'm assuming there may

be some Some smaller characters here and there

but yeah, I'm really it looks really good. Like

you said, I don't think it gives away too much.

I Think it's kind of hard with a TV series. Like

there's not what you got what like 15 episodes

or so So I don't think you're if you'd watch

it. It would really tell you anything and like

ruin anything Those are coming out so we can

binge watch, right? Yep Thought they did for

some other thing that they're coming out with

soon I thought that that was gonna be like a

couple at a time. So not as Binge watchy. Yeah,

I did see that there is one series whether it's

gonna be like like you said a couple at a time

But I believe everything I'm hearing about Daredevil.

It's all at once but I guess we'll see nothing

I was kind of impressed with it. The trailer

was uh, was the guy playing stick? I just thought

that the relationship between him and and Matt

Murdoch looks like it's going to be like really

interesting. Like, I'm really looking forward

to seeing him, like just sort of that relationship

developing, like, you know, training him, like

kind of him maturing and growing into that role

and stuff. But like stick growing and maturing

or immaturing either. No, but like the you know,

the movie obviously didn't focus on that a whole

lot. You actually mean stick didn't show up till

ektra, right? I mean he wasn't even in the daredevil.

No. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, it might have been the

lecture Yeah, I actually looked on md imdb and

it's saying stick is only showing up in three

episodes of this Which kind of sucks. I was hoping

for him a little more, you know, I was hoping

for them to sort of Develop that more because

I think there's a lot of potential there for

that are like You know moments vital to daredevils

character development, but I mean three, you

know make three episodes is you know They might

be able to pull off quite a bit there. So they

obviously need room to explore other avenues,

too. So Yeah, that's true. I like the actor that

play stick, but he's he's a good character actor

He's not a lot of stuff, but he has that like

old wise type of like mentor mentality that all

that care. Yeah. Well All righty, all right,

so we're gonna take a Quick break, and when we

come back, we're going to be doing the first

round of 2015's March Badass Bracket, so we'll

see you in a bit. Badass Bracket! Hey guys, this

is JD from the In Session Film Podcast. Every

week on our show, you can join my co -host Brendan

and I as we review the latest films that's out

in theaters. It also inspires us to discuss a

top three list of some sort, and we have a lot

of other fun movie discussions as well. It's

always a blast. And we also have a show on Fridays

called our Extra Film Podcast. This is a show

that gives us the space to talk about the latest

Indies and art films and other classics that

we normally just don't get to talk about on our

main show. You can find our podcast on iTunes,

Stitcher Radio, SoundCloud, TuneIn Radio, Player

FM, and more. In fact, you can just see everything

about us, including our social medias at InSessionFilm

.com. So join us every week. We'd absolutely

love to have you. All right. And welcome back.

If you're new to the badass bracket, we're going

to just kind of give you a quick rundown. If

you're familiar with Geocast Radio at all, you

probably have saw the different versus tournaments

that they've done in the past. Recently this

year they did the video game tournament where

they pitted video game characters against one

another. If you haven't checked those out, I

would definitely check. I would definitely advise

going to geocastradio .com and listening to those.

They're definitely a good time. What we're doing

is a little bit different though. We're not...

They're kind of pitting each other against fighting.

That's not what we're doing. We're just thinking,

who is the biggest badass? And the question is,

what does it mean to be a badass? And honestly,

it's whatever we want it to mean at the time.

Just a met for fun, nothing serious here. And

the way our voting works, we're not going based

on fan votes because we don't trust you. No,

because it's easier this way. So we're gonna...

Compete two people against one another variety

of different characters from a variety of different

tv shows movies cartoons comics It's gonna really

run the gamut and if you go to geocastradio .com,

there'll actually be a bracket there for you

to follow along as you listen And we're gonna

vote. So whoever has the most most votes between

chuck greg and I will win simple enough And again,

it's all for fun and we're going to be doing

the first half this week The first side of the

bracket this week and the second side of the

bracket next week Last year, we did 64 competitors.

A little too ambitious. I think those episodes

went a little bit too long. So the slim things

down a little bit, we're actually going to cut

it in half. But it makes it a little bit more

exclusive to be in this badass bracket. So we're

going to cut it down to 32. But it should be

a lot of fun. Looking forward to it. Last year,

we got more comments on that episode than any

other. So hopefully, that'll happen again this

year. So let us know if you agree with what we're

doing. Disagree? Love to hear your take so anything

else you guys wanted to go over before we get

this thing underway This year's is very slimming.

It's it's the new black and it's very fashionable

And it goes with just about everything it does

just like talking in circles logo and I don't

know I was we had like a fashion line. It'd be

perfect, but we really don't so No, but the other

thing I would add is like we kind of touched

on it, but It's whatever we feel like at the

time, so I don't always give the best reasons

for why I pick someone, but whatever makes sense

in my head, why they're a bigger badass, that's

what I vote with. It gets kind of hard with some

of these characters. Most of us, we're all familiar

with most of them, but there are some where,

you know, there's some Game of Thrones characters

in here, and Chuck hasn't watched Game of Thrones,

so we're gonna have to try to explain why that

person should win or lose, and hopefully... You

said that because of Khaleesi, and you guys said

things would get hard, right? Exactly, Greg.

Well, that's it. That's a good point because,

uh, you know, you could sort of, uh, sell someone

that you're trying to advance. Like you could

try to sell them to someone else that's not as

familiar with them, which is something we did

last year. That kind of worked out pretty cool.

So, yeah. Alrighty. So we're going to get this

thing underway. And we're starting with two of

the most iconic science fiction franchises of

all time and two of the most important or you

know recognizable characters who are on different

sides of uh, you know, I guess you would say

the Different opposing sides if you won once

for good and once definitely for evil And that

is star trek and star wars So from star wars

we have darth vader Any attack made by the rebels

against this station would be a useless gesture,

no matter what technical data they've obtained.

This station is now the ultimate power in the

universe. I suggest we use it. Don't be too proud

of this technological terror you've constructed.

The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant

next to the power of the Force. Don't try to

frighten us with your sorcerer's ways Lord Vader.

Your sad devotion to that ancient religion has

not helped you conjure up the stolen data tapes.

I've given you clairvoyance enough to find the

rebels hidden fort - I find your lack of faith

disturbing. And from Star Trek, we have Captain

James T. Kirk. Human flesh against human flesh.

We're the same. We share the same history, the

same heritage, the same lives. We're tied together

beyond any untie. Man or woman, it makes no difference.

We're human. We couldn't escape from each other,

even if we wanted to. That's how you do it, Lieutenant.

By remembering who and what you are. A bit of

flesh and blood. float in a universe without

end and the only thing that's truly yours is

the rest of humanity Tiberius Kirk So now the

question is guys who is the bigger badass Darth

Vader or James T Kirk Greg I think I'll start

with you on this one because you know you probably

have the most Star Trek Star Trek knowledge Between

Chuck and I so who would you go with is the bigger

badass? Well, um Darth Vader is badass because

he shoots lightning out of his fingertips Which

is awesome and then he fights with a lightsaber

He's got this all black uniform and everything

and all of that leads to him being an awesome

badass but We have had the prequels and so we

have found out how emo and Well, just how emo

is and that really cuts down on your badassness

and then on the other side of things we have

James Tiberius Kirk and probably the least badass

thing about Kirk is the name Tiberius But otherwise

he is fighting aliens fist fighting aliens and

Doing every Alien that just moves green purple.

He does not give a shit. He will hook up with

anything He's not afraid of space aids, which

is pretty badass So I'm going to go with Kirk

because I think Vader's emo -ness really, really

kills it for Vader. If we didn't have the prequels,

I would totally give this to Vader with how imposing

he is, but his backstory is a little bit. And

if we look at the recent Star Trek movie, well,

not the most recent, but the first one, the better...

Of the latest to Star Trek movies. We see Kirk

stealing his I guess the stepfather's car just

driving along and watching that off a cliff which

is definitely more of a badass thing to do than

crying about your being take away from your mother

and Being friends with this weird aquatic creature.

So I'm gonna go with Kirk Chuck I'm gonna move

it on over to you. Who do you think is a bigger

badass Kirk or Vader? Whoo, okay, uh, let's see

Vader and Kirk This is this turned out to be

a tougher one than I thought. I think Greg did

a pretty good job of explaining Captain Kirk

and never never really thought he would be as

much of an adversary is as this against Vader,

but I gotta admit he's done some pretty badass

stuff and I know the only thing I really know

of Kirk is the newer movies with Chris Pine But

he did some pretty badass shit on that movie

I remember like that thing where he's like skydiving

straight down. They had to land on that platform

thing and like Greg mentioned driving the car

over the cliff and everything. I mean yeah and

you look at like Anakin Skywalker growing up

like definitely a lot of problems kind of a kind

of a needy like baby -ish kind of little kid

and I guess the only thing that's like coming

in my head right now is I'm thinking When he

became Darth Vader, it was like a sort of a rebirth

almost. It was a new creation. He wasn't Vader

when he was younger. So I guess I'll kind of

go with that argument. And when he is this new

person, this new Sith Lord, he's completely fallen

into the dark side and he has a commanding presence.

Like he commands... basically the whole empire

he's second to the Emperor but just the intimidation

and the fear that he instills and everyone like

everyone's so afraid to even question him for

a second you know he can like choke you from

like 50 feet away so that's pretty intimidating

I don't know it's close tonight Greg did a valiant

effort there with Kirk but Vader's Vader's got

a soft spot in my heart, so I'm gonna say Vader's

a little bit more badass. Yeah, I honestly thought

this was gonna be easy. The start -off thing.

Like, Vader, you know, he's got that black outfit,

he's got the cape. I mean, gotta be pretty badass

to wear a cape and wear it well. He has a breathing

problem, but people still are intimidated by

him, so that means something. He's an asthmatic.

Exactly. The prequels do hurt him and do hurt

his badass quality But I guess I look at how

these two characters went out at least within

the series and how they were killed and you know,

Kirk was killed by scaffolding and In Star Wars

Star Wars generation. He kind of fell down stairs

Not not the most badass way to go out, you know

Vader threw the Emperor down a time a shaft while

being electrocuted I mean that's while saving

his son. That's a bat more badass way to go out.

So Because of that and again, I didn't expect

it to be this difficult, but Greg you didn't

make it hard In it that way But I'm gonna go

with I'm gonna go with Vader, but you know giving

him just a slight edge Moving on to our next

battle. This one's a little bit different Different

characters here and we have Deathstroke from

DC Comics or the arrow TV show There is no giving

up to these guys. No crying or buying your way

out of it. You have two choices. Escape or die.

So choose. And Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Mom

I'm a vampire slayer And since I ended the last

one I'll start with this one In great Chuck,

I know you probably haven't watched the Buffy

show So trying to try to be more detailed in

why I'm picking who in this one having a lot

of challenge here I'm like, I'm not sure who

exactly to go with but you know Buffy is a pretty

big badass. She goes against these vampires.

She She's like half their size most of the time

But she kind of sticks up to them and she is

like the the champion of our world in a lot of

ways and you know Sarah Michelle Gellar doesn't

necessarily look like someone who would you know

be a notorious fighter, but she pulls it off

but then you have someone like Deathstroke and

When you're a big enough badass to kind of go

toe -to -toe with Batman and walk away, you know,

Arrow in the Arrow show and you have the eye

patch, you have that look. He has that look.

He looks more like a badass outside of his costume

than in it sometimes. So my inkling is a go with

Deathstroke on this one. Really close, but I

feel like Deathstroke is just slightly more of

a badass because Part of a badass is looking

like a badass, and I think Deathstroke has that

advantage, at least in this case. Greg, I'll

move on to you next, since you do also have some

history watching Buffy. Who would you go with

in this battle? I really like Buffy. She is definitely

fighting some really sinister shit that's kind

of next level. I don't really know too much about

Deathstroke besides his badass outfit. I think

since we're guys and maybe for girls that the

outfits that Buffy does wear are badass, but

we just don't know because it's just like skirts

and just regular clothes and whatnot. So that's

kind of a difficult aspect for me, but has been

accused of murdering people like she does have

a rep of killing. She's been accused of that

on the show. She's gone to jail and she's just

this tiny little blonde girl who Sarah Michelle

Gellar is freaking gorgeous. Or I should say

Sarah Michelle Gellar. As heard on the Venture

Brothers, which I love. But yeah, I think she

is a pretty badass. Deathstroke, I don't know

too much about. He has cool weaponry, but so

does Buffy. Stakes and swords and all that other

stuff. So yeah, I feel like this one's really

close. I'm gonna go with Buffy just because of

I'm a little bit more familiar with her and leave

Chuck in a really difficult situation. So you

heard him Chuck you are in a really difficult

situation a little bit unfair but I guess you

know did anything Greg say kind of sway you to

go with Buffy are you going with That's true.

I was sort of familiar with Buffy, even though

I like I never really watched any, I guess I've

caught some here and there flipping through and

stuff. But, you know, I know it was sort of like

a an older version of Supernatural in a way,

I guess. Yeah, I guess you can make that comparison.

So, I mean, yeah, for her to take on like some

of these. Some of these things some of these

entities and creatures like I you know, I definitely

admit it's pretty badass But then you have death

and she was fucking vampires before it was cool

And and I gotta give him props for not making

them sparkle so Made him look like demons. I'm

kind of want the other So and yeah plus um What's

-his -name -was -on -there, the guy from Smallville.

I forget his name. No, James Marsden. No, not

James Marsden. Spike. Yeah. What the frig was

his name? I forget now. But anyway. And you met

him in New York City Comic Con. Yeah, yeah, I

met him. And I don't remember his name. So that's

how much of an impact he had on me. But anyway,

then you have Deathstroke. And I guess something

I would say about Deathstroke, and I know you

guys may not. quite be as more familiar but he

once pretty much took down almost the whole justice

league by himself there was there was no superman

and no batman but he took out about seven other

members by himself in just like a just like a

beat down brawl type fight nothing was planned

out or anything like that was uh martian manhunter

there because he's pretty uh formidable I can't

remember if he was, but I'm pretty sure Flash

and Green Lantern, Green Arrow, I want to say

even Wonder Woman was there. Wonder Woman! And

a couple other ones, and Deathstroke was just

like sick. I can't remember exactly which comic

this was in either. Well, good for you that we

don't have to have a bibliography at the end

of this. I want to say it might have been Identity

Crisis, but don't quote me on that. Anyway, he

was I just remember that scene. He was really

really badass I'm like dude anybody that can

take on like seven members of the Justice League

by himself that is just he's got mad respect

in my book, but Yeah, I think he Danny said he

looks the part and I gotta agree with that. He's

sort of a He's sort of a snake plissken. That's

even a better fighter I'm gonna go with Deathstroke.

All right I am not faring mill here. I am the

odd man out on the podcast today. At least so

far. We'll see how it goes for this next one.

I think we might agree on this one. We'll see.

So next up, we have Snake Eyes from G .I. Joe.

Look at that! A way out! It must have opened

automatically when Snake Eyes lowered the shield.

Come on! We'll never forget you. Going up against

The Bride from Kill Bill Volume 1 and 2. Hard

part's over. Now, let's get these other pickies

wiggling. So, Greg, we'll start with you on this

one. So who do you think is a bigger badass,

the bride from Kill Bill or Snake Eyes from G

.I. Joe? This is a tough one. They both have

swords, which is awesome. I think Snake Eyes

has been at killing with his swords a little

bit longer. Outfit wise, they both had pretty

cool outfits. If I'm going to go with the bride's

yellow outfit, the biker, Japanese inspired outfit,

the Bruce Lee reference outfit, which is pretty

friggin' sweet. But then so is the very monotone

outfits from Snake Eyes and his mask ensemble

is very badass. Yeah, that one's tough. I'm not

sure if I'm... Super up on my GI Joe stuff. I

have watched the movies haven't really Remembered

the cartoons too. Well, I don't think I watched

them too much this one it just might be like

a Pick from the hat like no looking pick from

the hat Didn't didn't the bride like kill what's

-his -name the guy who? Did the yeah bill that

choked himself in the closet? Didn't she kill

him with just like a little tap move to his heart

and his heart exploded I don't think I've ever

heard of snake eyes doing that. So I'm gonna

vote for the bride All right, Chuck, who do you

go with I'm not real super familiar with snake

eyes and GA Joe I guess I wasn't a big GI Joe

fan as a kid Oh really? Yeah, I never really

got into that too much. A little bit, but I have

seen Kill Bill. I think my vote here is going

to go to The Bride. I remember the one fight

scene in the mansion where she takes out like

40 guys. at once and she was just like ridiculous.

That scene just really sticks out in my head

for some reason and it was almost like she was

untouchable like I know the one girl at the end

sort of gave her a tough time but just like super

badass to just be able to look like a normal

person and everyone thinks you're like this you

know normal person that doesn't know anything

and she's like totally badass underneath that

just kind of you know seals the deal for me.

Nice and I will make it a clean sweep. I did

not expect that and we're going all with the

bride here So she's moving on to the next room.

All right next up This is kind of a very different

direction with these two characters, but it's

kind of a fitting matchup and we have vanilla

ice Kathy Oh, yeah cat words of wisdom Drop that

zero and get with the hero. Going up against

Zach Morris from Saved by the Bell. There you

are, Zach. I've been looking all over for you.

Time out! Yeah, this is horrible. I just meant

to get a car. If I don't find a way out of this,

my life at Bayside is over. time in i ended last

time so i'll start this time and man this one

i we could just put together because i think

it's kind of fun so to me vanilla ice man like

definitely tries to be a badass i don't necessarily

know if he succeeds but zack morris you know

he gets kelly kapowski kind of a badass there

he has kind of a geeky friend he makes a geeky

friend a little bit cooler kind of badassness

and he definitely has that 80 kids that 80s kids

cool vibe to him that everyone wants and he can

stop time so for me that's like the trifecta

and you know and vanilla ice was a rapper and

now he builds homes so i'm gonna go with zach

morris on this one uh uh chuck who do you think

is a bigger badass vanilla ice i have no particular

interest in either of these two guys i really

didn't watch save by the bell back in the day

um vanilla ice he's just one hit wonder for me

it was a really good song uh but it was just

i think you're forgetting about go ninja go ninja

yeah i did forget about go ninja go ninja go

i'm just gonna go with you on it dan with zach

morris because i think the stopping time is what's

really doing it for me and chuck where you going

i'm trying to think of something to uh validate

vanilla ice but I'm sorry someone with the word

vanilla in their name. It's not badass He was

he was a juggalo or Whatever that is for the

clown posse I mean, I guess I could give him

like, you know, we're in the hat crooked with

the straight brim I mean, that's kind of badass

but maybe he does do a TV not a TV but a Motorcycle

motocross kind of oh, yeah, that's kind of badass

And just putting up with just putting up with

everyone's crap over the years over ice ice baby.

I mean, that takes a lot of takes a lot of balls

there. But I mean, Zach Morris, like, come on.

I mean, he's just like everybody wanted to be

him and stuff. He's like the cool kid. And like

you said, being able to stop time and just break

that fourth wall. I mean, that's that's pretty

awesome right there. That's pretty pimp. It's

pretty pimp. All right. Zack Morris wins in a

clean sweep. Now moving on to the next matchup.

We have the Black Panther. the Prince of Wakanda.

But what are you doing here? I need your help.

Going up against Carol from The Walking Dead.

Carol, Dan's wife. You can never tell anyone,

especially your mom. Because if you do, one morning

you wake up. And you won't be in your bed. Where

will I be? You'll be outside the walls, far,

far away, tied to a tree. And you'll scream and

scream because you'll be so afraid. No one will

come to help because no one will hear you. Well,

something will hear you. The monsters will come.

The ones out there. And you won't be able to

run away when they come for you. And they will

tear you apart and eat you up all while you're

still alive. All while you can still feel it.

And then afterwards, no one will ever know what

happened to you. You can promise not to ever

tell anyone what you saw here. And then nothing

will happen. And you'll get cookies. Lots of

cookies. Actually, I purposely put in The Walking

Dead, so you did not think it was my wife. I

thought that was the reason. Because your wife

would have been the winner. She's really badass.

Dan just did something wrong this week, so he's

trying to get some bonus points for his wife.

Hey, I was a hero this weekend, you know, with

getting the flat tire fixed and everything. But

yes, Chuck, Carol from The Walking Dead or Black

Panther, who is the bigger badass? Boy, uh...

Carol's really really becoming quite a badass

on The Walking Dead, you know kind of started

a little bit last season and You know really

just in these last couple episodes of this season

of The Walking Dead. She's really really taken

off as her own badass and So yeah, I mean like

Carol has gone Has undergone like a major transformation

from where she started out in the series from

like this this person living with an abusive

husband and she's like this really sort of fearful

and docile character and she's become this like

major badass in the show now like really in this

these last couple episodes of this season especially

she's like you're really kind of stepping back

and like wow like she's really like she doesn't

care she'll do whatever it takes to get things

done and and protect people and stuff but Black

Panther too Black Panther is a Really formidable

character. I know we've talked about him on here

before I think we're all pretty much a fan of

him Dan I know especially your big fan of Black

Panther I Mean the guys a king of his own nation

in Africa He's got to protect that a mountain

of vibranium and everything. He has Weaponry

that's made from the vibranium super intelligent

possibly one of the Probably top three or top

five best fighters in Marvel He's not afraid

to go toe -to -toe with anyone even the like

doom or even you know The Avengers and Captain

America and things like that really close one

I think for me, but I'm gonna give this late

edge to Black Panther Okay And I will actually,

I'll go next. I say that I'm going to make it

a little bit tougher, Greg. And I know you haven't

kept up with Walking Dead, but I will say Carol,

like Chuck was saying, has really grown into

a badass and so much so I think she's made and

done made some really hard decisions and done

some things that were for the better of her group

and things that needed to be done that I don't

think Black Panther would be willing or able

to do. Especially when it comes to. Having to

let's say, you know, let some people go that

was a really huge tragic moment But I think she

was able to do it because she you know, she knows

what she needs to do in order to survive so it

and you know for the betterment of the group

and She's kind of able to make that sacrifice

if need be so I like I really think this character

who started off as a weakling someone that was

Almost a hindrance has become their strongest

member and is playing I like to say she's playing

she's winning at a game No one else is even willing

to play so I I go with like you said Chuck I'm

a big Black Panther fan But I'm gonna go with

Carol in this one because I think she has an

edge to her that and makes some decisions that

Black Panther wanted so Greg we have one vote

Carol one vote Black Panther who you going with

Gotta say Dan that that your quote there for

Carol is one of my favorites. I heard tonight

so far She's will I forget it now, but she's

winning a game the ones else willing to play.

Yes that that was awesome Yeah, I'm not too up

-to -date on my walking dead as we all know unfortunately

Yeah, and the last I saw Carol was kind of very

Wimpy so I have to just kind of take it off of

what you guys are saying So it is kind of difficult

for me. I'm probably gonna catch a lot of crap

in the comment section that I'm going to just

go with Black Panther. No, no reasoning whatsoever.

I can do that because I'm one of the co -hosts.

That's how it works. You get a vote. All right,

moving on to the next matchup. We're going with

Bender from Futurama. Welcome to the future,

human slave! Relax, chum. I'm not really a giant

fly. I'm a horrible robot! Kill all humans! Dear

God! He's having a heart attack! They'll probably

find a cure for that in the future. We have a

cure for it now! Oh good, then you won't mind

if I use this. and Rocket Raccoon from Guardians

of the Galaxy. You see it? Yeah. There's a QuarNix

battery behind it. Purple -ish box, green wires.

To get into that watch tower, I definitely need

it. How are we supposed to do that? Well, supposedly

these bald bodies find you attractive, so maybe

you can work out some sort of trade. You must

be joking. No, I've really heard they find you

attractive. Look, it's 20 feet up in the air,

and it's in the middle of the most heavily guarded

part of the prison. It's impossible to get up

there without being seen. I got one plan, and

that plan requires a frickin' QuarNix battery,

so figure it out! Can I get back to it? Thanks.

Now, this is important. Once the battery is removed,

everything is gonna slam into emergency mode.

Once we have it, we gotta move quickly. So you

definitely need to get that last. Or we could

just get it first and improvise. I'll get the

armband. Last time so we'll start with you here.

Who do you think is a bigger badass? This one's

kind of a tough one I follow one of the hardest

ones so far if at least for me who you going

with Yeah, that is a tough one. You've got this

swearing drinking Smoking as we all know smoking

is definitely badass a lot of peer pressure involved

But you've got racket raccoon who is also willing

to swear uses huge Weaponry that's bigger than

himself like his weapons are like massive he

hangs out with a giant fucking tree bender just

hangs out with a guy with orange hair and is

kind of an idiot so i i'm gonna go with rocket

raccoon i've only read the first couple uh comics

i really wanted to keep up with that more but

for some reason i fell behind i'm probably gonna

pick up the graphic novel the the scotty young

who has amazing artwork and writing abilities

it's right in that series and it's doing a really

good job rocket raccoon and both bender have

been to jail a couple times but i think the the

level of offenses is much higher towards rocket

for killing and just doing whatever he has to

do to survive the only thing that maybe bring

him back a little bit is his uh the goodness

in his heart where I don't think, well, Bender

does have moments where he kind of comes out

as kind of soft and tender. But I'm going to

go with Rocket Raccoon. Alrighty. Isn't my ramble

there? That's fine. Chuck, I know you're not.

I don't know if you watch Futurama or not, but

I know you've seen Guardians of the Galaxy, so

kind of an idea where you're going. But curious

to hear what you have to say. Well. You may be

surprised to know I am a pretty big Futurama

fan, actually. Oh, really? I did not know that.

All those things, all these things today. Yeah,

I know. It's sort of a secret. That's not a secret,

but I guess I just never brought it up before.

But I do enjoy Futurama a great deal. I actually

like it way better than Family Guy. Good news!

It's a suppository! I know Greg was... Trying

to sell that show a long time ago and I finally

sort of listened to him and you know started

to watch them whenever I see them on and stuff

Good news. It's a suppository because that is

my most favorite wine entire series I don't think

i've seen that one on honestly, and I know they're

on netflix, too I think like 10 seasons are on

there. Have you seen watch the question becomes

have you seen a dog episode? Oh Uh, yes. Oh my

god, that one is so heart -wrenching Yeah, it

is. It definitely is. I am not. I think probably

cried during that. My favorite one is when they

created the time machine and they went forward

through time so far. Yeah, like the end of time.

And then it restarted again. Yeah. And they tried

to like take out Hitler. They're going through

and he like missed and hit like Eleanor Roosevelt.

And he's like, ah, how much could change? And

where they ended up like it was shifted like

so their spaceship ended up or their time machine

ended up 10 feet above where it was supposed

to be. And they got like they went to get out

and they fell on the floor. It was that episode

was my favorite. But anyway, yeah, Bender's pretty

badass. He's kind of like he's kind of goofy,

though, too. Like it's sort of like. you know,

whatever suits him at the time, like whatever's

convenient for him. He's not really worried about

anyone else, which it's in a way that could be

sort of a bad ass quality. But like Rocket Raccoon

to me, just I think he takes it to another level

that he just does not take shit from anyone.

I feel like Bender can sort of be bullied by

Lila and some of the other characters on there,

like into doing what they want, because he's

like, OK, you know, but. Yeah rocket raccoon

like he has to be feisty because he's so small

And no one takes him seriously, but he's like

one of the toughest people on that team and uh,

just going through the Experiments that he went

through and everything like that's that's some

harsh shit So I I gotta go rocket raccoon on

this one nice and I will again make it a clean

sweep And the thing i'm thinking about is bender

is like a type of robot that there's more of

there's other benders But there's no one like

rocket raccoon Beside rocket raccoon as he says

there's no one like me but me so because of that

because of the uniqueness of rocket raccoon I

went with him so and he can translate what group

says true true true Alrighty moving on to our

next matchup first up. We have the classic cop

dirty Harry I Know what you're thinking Did he

fire six shots or only five? Going up against

the rebellious hero Rorschach from The Watchmen.

Hey, you're pretty famous, right? You know what?

I'm pretty famous, too. Ain't that right? That's

right. You know, maybe I can give you an autograph,

huh? What you say, big boy? I ended last time,

so I'll start with this one. This is really hard.

You have two kind of vigilante characters who

technically go above and beyond the law and kind

of take things in their own hands in a lot of

ways. And the thing that I keep thinking about

looking at this matchup is Looking at Rorschach

and the moment in which he's in jail and that

classic line of I'm not locked in here with you.

You're locked in here with me That's pretty badass

dirty Harry has a lot of great lines But the

fact that you were in jail and not only are you

not scared but you look at it as an opportunity

That's pretty intense. So because of that, and

just the viciousness of Rorschach and the fact

that he's probably the best thing about the movie

at least, I'm gonna go with Rorschach is a bigger

badass than Dirty Harry. So Greg, we'll move

on to you next. Who do you pick in this matchup?

Yeah, definitely. I totally agree with everything

you say there, Dan. Dirty Harry definitely has

some good lines, but he's just an average guy,

if you ask me. Rorschach is also an average guy,

but he's just... The intensity is like tenfold.

So I'm also going to give it to Rorschach and

not really give too much of an explanation. I

do do love Clint Eastwood. That character is

definitely badass. But I think Rorschach has

a little bit more intensity to him. And Chuck,

I'm going to say you haven't seen Watchmen, but

I don't know because I keep being wrong about

these things. But do you have any any ideas about

this matchup? Well, I have seen I have seen a

good deal of Watchmen. Not completely through

Because I'm one of those weird people that catch

things on TV and watch them until I have to go

do something If you want to read the comic I

have the graphic novel here if you ever want

to read it Yeah, I know I know dirty hairy of

course. I'm you know Clint Eastwood fan and everything

definitely an iconic sort of character and a

lot of a lot of Iconic lines and quotes and things

like that boy. I don't know I guess This is really

tough, but I'm going to sort of defer to you

guys, because you guys seem like you know the

character a lot more. And from what you're saying,

he does seem to be a bit more of a badass. And

from what I've seen, too, just the movie version.

I haven't read the comic, but he's pretty intense.

Yeah, the jail scene does really bring a lot

to his badassness. Already moving on this is

the last first round matchup for this side of

the bracket and we'll be moving on to the second

round Because we're doing one side this week

in the next side next week so we can come around

the champion so up right now we have two iconic

characters again from science fiction franchises

and Representing Star Wars again. We have Bobo

Fett He has a healthy head start Find the woman

and bring her to me Going up against... The Predator.

Other world life forms drawn by heat and conflict

He's on Safari lions Tigers the Bears Oh my Chuck

you ended last round you want to start with this

one. Who do you think is a bigger badass predator

or? Boba Fett Don't know Oh Man this this one's

I think for me, this is the toughest one so far.

Yeah, this one's this one's the challenge Wow,

I don't even know like I don't even know what

to say to this Well, let me let me give my reasoning.

I have kind of okay one through a little bit

So with Darth Vader and in Captain Kirk I kind

of looked at how both of those characters were

killed and which one was bigger badass This one's

actually kind of tough because if you go to predator

one, you know the first predator was killed just

because he kind of like Made it easier for Schwarzenegger

took off his technology off and he kind of died

as a fluke. It was a big fluke where Boba Fett

died because he fell down a cave He did not die

in the Sarlacc pit though. Well in the movie

at least. Well we didn't get to continue on with

the next set of movies, so maybe he's still alive,

you don't know. Maybe what has been written about

Boba Fett is true and he still does live. That's

a possibility, but... Only a possibility at this

time, but the other the bad thing about that

there was you go to predator 2 and the predators

killed by danny glover So again, not the most

badass way to go out. I'm getting killed by a

guy who's too old for this shit. So Exactly.

It's like, all right, so I can't go there. But

You know if you look at the actual movies because

I mean, I think that's probably the the best

thing the thing I know the most I don't know

a lot about the expanding universe with star

wars or with the predator franchise and They're

pretty much even in a lot of ways. Both have

badass costumes. Both have badass weapons. Both

are badass fighters. But I think the Predator

does more. Like, he puts himself in situations

where, like, he wants things harder for himself.

Like, he'll make things more of a challenge and,

like, he likes the fun of it. Where Boa Fett's

just kind of looking for the easy way out whenever

he can get it. Like, look at Han Solo. He kind

of just came in. Like, he didn't capture him.

He just kind of picked up the... He's kind of

like a scrounger, really. Yeah, he is a bounty

hunter, but... He doesn't, at least in the movies,

do a great deal. He looks badass, but I think

the Predator has more things going on. So I gave

the slight edge to the Predator, but it's a tough

choice for sure. I don't know if Chuck, that

makes things harder or easier for you. Yeah,

well, I've had a chance to sort of consider it

a little bit. Boba Fett is definitely badass,

but as you said, he's more of an opportunity

-driven character. In some instances, he definitely...

creates his own opportunities. I will say that.

But basically what sort of decided it in my head

was Predator basically hunts aliens. So if you're

going to hunt aliens for sport because you think

it's fun. That's pretty freaking badass, because

I don't want to be anywhere near those damn things.

I think the one that lost to Danny Glover was

sort of the runt of the Predator family. He was

adopted. He kind of sucked. He's the redhead

braces. And that's why they didn't even kill

Danny Glover, because when they walked away,

they're just like, thank you. None of us wanted

to kick him out. Just thank you. Here, you can

keep our weapon, and we'll just walk away. Very

true. So yeah, I'm going to go Predator. And

Greg, what say you? Oh yeah, I think you guys

made a lot of great points. So I'm not even going

to give a statement here. So I'm just going to

go with Predator, even though I haven't seen

the films. All right, that's the way it goes.

Alright, so now we're going on to round two.

So the victors from last round are now Now going

up against one another so the the champion from

Darth Vader and Captain Kirk Darth Vader is going

up against the victor of I don't know why I'm

saying Victor. I said this is Hunger Games The

Victor of Deathstroke and Buffy so we have Darth

Vader Going up against Deathstroke and who was

the bigger badass? I think this warning becomes

a little bit even more challenging because the

first round have some preparation and this one

I don't know what they're gonna be so you kind

of just have to think of them on the fly and

this one's really really difficult, but I Think

Greg last round your point about Darth Vader

being kind of a punk, you know Anakin being emo

definitely comes in the play here because I can't

think of any element of of Deathstroke that's

all that emo or anything I can look at that's

a chink in the armor of his badassness. So because

of that, I'm gonna go with Deathstroke. Chuck,

I'll move on to you next since you know the most

about Deathstroke and who do you think is the

bigger badass, Darth Vader or Deathstroke? Boy,

this one's really tough too. Use the Force, Chuck.

Search your feelings, you know it to be true.

I guess I'll just talk until I think of what

I'm gonna do, but I'll look at weapons first.

Okay, Darth Vader, he's got a badass lightsaber.

He's very skilled with it, obviously one of the

best fighters with it. Also has the Force, can

Force choke people, Force push, things like that.

You have Deathstroke, who has mastered several

different weapons. Talking about guns, swords,

bow staff. handguns, like all different sort

of things, hand -to -hand combat. See, there's

advantages on both sides. I think Deathstroke

is a better hand -to -hand fighter. I think he's

more formidable actually taking on people physically.

Vader commands an entire empire though, pretty

much. Has everyone pretty much beneath his boot.

You know, he says jump, everyone says how high.

So, you sort of have... You know, they each have

their edge. It's really difficult to To say which

one's the bigger badass Wow, I gotta you know,

I gotta give it to Darth Vader though just the

the fact that he is so commanding and Everyone

just sort of shaking in their boots and afraid

of him and Think his iconic nature sort of just

outshines Deathstroke a little bit or a lot depending

on if you're Star Wars fan I think a lot of people

are a lot more familiar with Darth Vader and

in his level of badassery so slight edge to Vader

All right, Greg, it's up to you. We got one Deathstroke

one Darth Vader. Are you gone with? Yeah, the

emoness really kills it for me with Vader. I

think just Deathstroke has definitely more intensity.

I think Deathstroke looks more badass to be quite

frank and I think he's got definitely more competition

when it comes to opponents as opposed to Vader.

I think it's a little bit more everybody that

fights Vader, it's a little bit more balanced

on who he takes on and there hasn't really been

a challenge. That is extremely difficult for

him to surpass, so I'm gonna go with Deathstroke.

You see, fighting an old man doesn't count, you

know? Yeah, pretty much. He basically gave up.

Alright, so that's gotta be the biggest episode

so far. Darth Vader getting knocked out in the

second round, wow. It's like Kansas losing. Alright,

moving on to our next matchup. This one I think

is gonna be - I've got that reference. They are

- actually it's Kentucky, it got the team wrong,

so never mind, don't even worry about it. Gave

you an opportunity to redeem yourself, Dan. Awesome.

That was badass of you, Greg. Alright, moving

on to the next round. I think this is gonna be

a little bit easier. And that's the bride going

up against Zach Morris and saved by the bell.

Greg, who's winning this one? Uh, the bride.

Chuck? Uh, the bride? I'm like, I said it like

you were on a game show. No, I'm just if you

if you feel Zach Morris that you feel free but

no, I He's definitely best but I'm starting to

remember like, you know Slater calling him preppy

all the time and You know that that sort of just

seems to take a a couple of points off of his

badass license and you look at somebody like

the bride from kill Bill and There's nothing

preppy about her You know, she's just like, she's

just gritty and she will kick your ass and do

whatever she needs to do. So when I go with the

bride as well, obviously there next matchup.

Wow. This one's random and really hard. I'm not

even sure. I'm going to try talking, doing the

Chuck method, talking out loud and see which

one I'm going with and be a black Panther up

against rocket raccoon. And wow, this is, this

is a little bit difficult. I went against Black

Panther last round and I went for Rocket Raccoon

last round. So the question is, you know, do

I stick that route? And I love Black Panther

as a character, but the question here is who's

the bigger badass? And I think Black Panther

certainly looks badass. He's a formidable fighter

and he's the leader of a country. But I think

with badassness, you need a certain edge to you.

You need to be able to kind of like... be almost

like an attitude, and I think Black Panther doesn't

really have an attitude. He's very respectful,

he's a regal, you know, he's a king, and it's

hard to be a badass when you're a king and you're

kind of have to be this like model citizen in

a way. He's almost like the African Captain America

in a lot of ways. I hope that's not racist. Totally.

I don't think it is. So, but Rocket Raccoon,

he definitely has an edge to him. He's feisty.

He, you know, he's always the underdog in pretty

much every situation he is. He's a fighting claw

for everything he gets. And, you know, he's got

a little bit more of a rebellious side to him.

So, because of that, I'm gonna go with Rocket

Raccoon. It's tough, but I think probably I prefer

Black Panther as a character, but looking at

Badass Factor, gotta go with the Raccoon. So,

that's my pick. Chuck, I'll go to you next. Who

are you picking? I do agree with you that the

Black Panther isn't a more interesting character,

if I were to pick one of them, but the question

is badass and I look at what Rocket Raccoon is

willing to do and willing to sort of, uh, willing

to just charge into the fray and something that

would stick in my mind is like, you know, say

they had to battle Thanos on that particular

occasion. It seems to me like Rocket Raccoon

wouldn't even bat an eye, he would just charge

in there and try to blast the crap out of him

with his giant guns. Black Panther is going to

be a little bit more reserved, sort of calculated,

wanting to formulate a plan, a little bit more

hesitant because he knows what Thanos is capable

of. Definitely the smarter play, but it's not

the more badass play. I gotta give it to Rocket

Raccoon. Nice nice good reasoning Greg. You're

gonna make it a clean sweep. Are you gonna at

least give one vote to buy? I am gonna make it

a clean sweep. I just think the ferocity of rocket

raccoon he He will go a bit fear aisle as opposed

to Black Panther Which who I think is a little

bit more reserved and it's totally not badass

to lose storm as your wife totally not badass

Especially to a bigger badass and we'll yeah,

so All right next one this one's this one's another

really kind of tough matchup and I'm not sure

where to go with this one and it is the predator

against warshack and Since I'm probably I've

watched the predator movies and watchmen. I'll

try to start with this one. And again, not really

sure where I'm going But I guess the question

is they are they have their credibility for being

badass and that's why they won last round So

the question is where are their? You know takeaways,

where are the negatives for their badass resume?

I mentioned last time, you know predator was

killed by Danny Glover But like we said was that

just the more reject predator? I mean like he

was in the city like come on now. They didn't

probably even respect him all that much Worshack

he's kind of like he has that crazy factor to

him. He almost lacks any sense of reality in

a way So is he badass or is he just insane? insane

in the membrane it's yeah, it's a fine line that

like which one which one would you go with and

I Don't know like they're both fierce but I would

think kind of similar back to like what we're

saying about Black Panther and I mean obviously

the Predator is an alien so we can't hear him

talk or anything like that, but he clearly is

more like his badassness is more well planned

like it's more of a Design like it's almost like

a part of his culture in a way where If anything

a predator staying within the what's expected

of him where Rorschach goes against that and

he kind of like, you know is not afraid to You

know do what needs to be done even if people

disagree with him even if it's like, you know

He's even willing to you know, talk down to a

basically a god in dr. Manhattan tell him why

he's wrong. So he doesn't back down from anyone

And because of that, because he has more of a

rebellious nature to him, I'm going to go with

Rorschach here. Chuck, do you agree or do you

think Predator belongs and should move forward?

First thing that would come to my mind is which

of these two, if I were to meet them in any sort

of setting, but you could say a jungle or a city

alley or something, I would be a lot more shit

scared of facing Predator. That's for sure, but

Dan I gotta say you made some convincing arguments

there Predator sort of they believe in their

in their hierarchy and their structure of their

culture and it's sort of You know, you don't

really act out a line. I sort of get that feeling

they definitely hunt things for sport. They do

ridiculously You know scary things just for fun

just for a challenge, but they sort of they sort

of believe in falling in line with that hierarchy

and like you said Rorschach just he's just kind

of a an oddball it just kind of does doesn't

says whatever he feels and Expresses that to

everyone No matter how many people would be against

him. So I have to agree with you did Alrighty

Greg you agreeing as well. Are you gonna throw

a vote predators way? No, I'm going to go with

Rorschach because I haven't really seen Predator

really go up against somebody that's like, yeah,

the Predator gets his ass kicked a lot, but I

haven't seen him go up against anybody really

that's like above him in skill or tenacity. I'm

gonna go with Rorschach, because he did confront

Manhattan, which would probably make me piss

my pants. And I think I'm more scared of the

crazy mental guy than the crazy -looking guy.

You know what I mean? If that makes any sense.

Yeah, and Rorschach kind of has a little bit

of that. Yeah, it's like talking to Mel Gibson,

I would think. I'd rather talk to a guy that's

dressed... Strangely as opposed to the dude who

who I'm not sure what he's gonna do next Already

man, so we're moving on to the semi -finals of

the top bracket and this is gonna get tough Just

looking at these matchups. Ah, man. I I don't

even know I don't even know where this is gonna

go. So bear with us So our first semi -final

matchup is the bride Going up against Deathstroke

I mean Deathstroke has beaten Vader the bride

has kind of gone through her own set of challenges

and Chuck I'll probably start with you here because

you probably have the The most knowledge of both

characters since you you know have more background

with Deathstroke Do you feel Deathstroke is a

bigger badass than the bride or is the bride?

Really the the one who should be moving for Deathstroke?

Can't argue with you know, I am gonna go with

Deathstroke, but I'll give a little bit of a

reason I think this is a good matchup for him

and that's something we haven't really talked

about yet but a lot of this a lot of advancing

in this bracket is the matchup that you hit at

the right time and Going up against a more difficult

character. Maybe Deathstroke doesn't make it

past but I think they're sort of similar characters,

which is why they kind of match up well and not

only because they both are good at sword fighting

but I just think like you look at their skill

you look at their attitude just sort of how they

approach a fight that sort of swagger they're

really not fearful of what's gonna happen they

have a confidence in themselves but I think I

think Deathstroke it's just to a higher degree

to me like based on what I've seen of him and

I think If you're gonna compare these two similar

characters, you know in a matchup I think Deathstroke

comes out on top in a lot of those categories.

I would give them the edge on this Greg I'm gonna

move on to you next to who you wrote one. The

bride is cool It's really good with swords, but

I think the intensity is just behind Deathstroke

really. Yes. She did a cool move with their little

hand thingy motion to make a guy's heart explode

in his chest But Deathstroke is going up against

opponents that could probably actually do that.

He has scarier opponents as opposed to the bride.

So I'm going to go with Deathstroke. Plus he

looks more badass. Well, I'm going to go with

the bride and see if I can maybe. try to argue

to change your votes. Maybe I can make an argument

here. So let's look at the bride, for example.

What makes her a badass? Well, look, for example,

in Kill Bill volume two, she's buried alive.

And how does she get out? She gets out by sheer

will, by using that infamous, you know, one inch

punch where she basically is able to break her

way through the casket and through the ground,

you know, unearthing herself from being buried

alive, which is probably a fear we all have,

but she doesn't let it get to her. She overcomes

that. She overcomes a lot. I mean, she is actually

even paralyzed after she's betrayed on her wedding

day. And the way she's able to get herself to

move again, the way she's able to learn to walk

is through sheer willpower, being sitting in

a car just trying to tell us. Tell herself that

her feet can move and I mean that that's just

kind of badass where it's just like she is so

Determined to kill bill that she will do whatever

it takes to get there And I do think she really

has tough opponent she's going up against like

ninjas like legit like ninjas who? Have spent

their entire life learning the fight so it's

so that stroke, but I think The crazy 88s for

example, you know definitely notorious, you know,

she has some really great fights I think she

also has it definitely has an intensity to her

and that's that intensity is why she's able to

do what she does really and go through this really

harsh training and you know nearly kill herself

just to be able to prove herself and avenge the

loss that she was given so I did that stroke

certainly badass, but I think just because the

bride has more of a strong will towards her like

that stroke tends to be Going for things for

more selfish reasons, but the bride has more

of a deeper Motivation and has bigger odds to

go up against where Deathstroke can kind of pick

his battles a little bit more Sorry, Dan didn't

didn't really Nice try I tried I tried I tried

I tried to go for the bride, but you know, you

guys make I'll counter you a little bit there

Okay, go ahead. I I see what you're saying but

the argument I would make is that Death strokes

been doing it so much longer for his whole life

because He joined he joined the army when he

was 16 years old That's pretty darn badass and

when he joined the army in his training he actually

began to master every form of martial arts and

self -defense that was ever taught to him and

he was just like a natural learner and The only

the only other thing I would say is sort of the

the selfish reasons he does have a personal honor

code and He he won't do certain things if they

violate his honor code so that to me is sort

of badass too that he you know, he could kind

of play whatever side he wants and You know whether

it be whether he lands on the side of good or

evil in each particular case, but it's sort of

what What he thinks fits into his honor code

and he just sort of plays both sides whenever

he feels like it so it's It's kind of what kind

of what I'm looking at All right. Thank you guys

to make good arguments. I tried my best but Deathstroke

is moving on and it's definitely well deserves.

So who's he gonna be facing in this final for

this week? the next semi -final matchup war shack

Going up against rocket raccoon and I feel like

we've been using similar arguments for both of

these characters and why they should move on

so now now it gets really tough and I think I'll

start this one since I ended last time and Last

time I kind of hinted at the fact that you know

Rorschach does have that little bit of craziness

to him where maybe he's a really big badass because

he just lacks an ability to like recognize reality

and he's just kind of insane where Rocket raccoon.

I don't think he's really insane. I think he

He does what he needs to do in order to survive,

where Worshek is kind of choosing his path in

a lot of ways, which is kind of what I used for

him last time when I was using it against him

here. But Worshek is able to kind of hide and

be a normal person and kind of use his secret

identity, where Rocket Raccoon's always Rocket

Raccoon. He doesn't get a moment or a second

not to have to prove himself or... not be that

badass he needs to be because people are always

looking to take advantage of him because he's

a small guy and, you know, he doesn't mainly

have the power set of someone like Drax or Star

Lord or something like that. So he has to use

really guns and being really smart. So because

of that, because he's always, always having to

be a badass, I'm going with Racket Raccoon. It's

really tough, but that was my that's my decision.

So, Chuck, are you agreeing with me or do you

think Rorschach should go on? I'm gonna agree

with you here. It's tough. It is a tough one.

Obviously when they make it this far. It's a

tough matchup, but uh You know, I think he gave

a lot of good reasons there rocket raccoon is

uh He's we've talked about how he's fearless

in a lot of situations. He's a brilliant tactician

Just sort of the the level that he needs to sustain

in his everyday life Just constantly taking shit

from everyone because they look at him and he's

like, okay, that's a freaking raccoon Like what

can he do? We've seen a little bit of that in

the movie. We're kind of a lot of people don't

take him seriously, you know in the prison and

in I think when they were at the inside the celestial

head in the mining thing and there's just a lot

of instances where like You know, he feels lost

in in life and before he joins the guardians

and stuff like that and Just sort of what he

has to put up and deal with and just to Still

be that much of a badass going through all that.

I got to give it to him Greg you making a clean

sweep or you're gonna throw or try to convince

us or try to try to pull me and convince us that

Rorschach should be the winner. No, I think you

guys made a lot of great points. I can't really

find anything in there that would really make

me decide against what you guys are voting, so

I'm gonna also go with Rocket. All right, so

we have our final matchup for this week. The

person will be going against next week's champion,

where we do this all over again with new characters.

So we have... Deathstroke against rocket And

I have no idea how this is gonna go and I'm gonna

I'm gonna say I got nothing So Greg, I'm gonna

throw it to you first and you end the last time

any idea here who you going with basically, you

know I feel like I could talk down Deathstroke

like if I was presented with one opportunity

to go against deathstroke one opportunity to

go up against Rocket Raccoon. I feel like I could

deal with Deathstroke a little bit better. I

feel like I could be like, hey Deathstroke, I

really don't want to fight you. You could do

whatever you want and just have him go on his

way. But I feel like Rocket Raccoon would actually

do something to me before he leaves. So I find

him a little bit more intimidating. And quite

frankly, I'm scared of some things that are a

little bit smaller, because I feel like they

come at you and it's just like biting all over

the place kind of situation like a small dog.

Like you can't get a hold of him and he's just

squirming all over the place. You can't really

nail him down. I feel like you could at least

tackle Deathstroke to give you like a couple

seconds. So I'm going to give it to Rocket. Alrighty.

Chuck, you've been going pretty hard for Deathstroke

this entire time. Are you sticking with Deathstroke

here or are you going to go with Rocket? Who

wouldn't you guys like to know? It's like Where

where you you know, you're like, you know, you

go with Thanos to the last matchup and suddenly

you pull, you know New argument days are very

keen. You remember last year Dan remember last

year. I did not remember check Well, I'm just

happy we're not gonna pick a winner that You

know, this year that would end up beating his

children because I was going to make that joke.

Damn it. Sorry. That turned out really awkward

and that happened. I'm like, oh crap, we just

picked that guy for our biggest bad ass. I like

it's his children, like really badly, like overboard.

But yeah, to be fair, it was six months before.

Yeah, it's like, you know, so. But anyway. I

know these are two of my favorite characters.

I have a lot of favorite characters, but these

two are pretty near and dear to me. But they're

so close in their bad -ass points. But I think

the thing that I'm that's going to decide for

me right now is just to look at their level of

competition, their rivalries, so to speak. And

Rocket Raccoon faces these huge celestial level

threats just ridiculously powerful creatures

really freaky unknown creatures that they have

no idea what they're facing when they go into

these fights they don't know their power sets

they don't know their motivations so they sort

of have to figure these things out on the fly

and rocket raccoon they rely on him quite a bit

to to sort of help in that area and Not to mention,

you know, they deal with Thanos a lot. We all

know how big of a challenge he is. So then if

I look at Deathstroke, yeah, he's fought the

Justice League. He's taken down quite a few members

of those. He can hold his own against Batman,

things like that. But a lot of the time he goes

up against the Teen Titans. Teen Titans, cool!

Well, they're respectable in their own way. I

just don't think that they hold up against the

sort of enemies that Rocket faces on a regular

basis. So I guess that's the only sort of thing

that I can look at to differentiate. So I'm going

to go ahead and give the edge to Rocket. Wow.

Wow. I did not expect that. I thought you'd go

with Deathstroke. Again, pulling another Thanos

out of your hat. I'm going to kind of switch

things around here and say I'm going to go with

Deathstroke and try to pull another Bride and

see if I can convince you guys to go with it

or if we'll make Rocket Raccoon this week's champion.

The thing I'm thinking of is, you know, Deathstroke

had to make himself into a badass, right? Where

Rocket Raccoon was kind of manufactured into

one. Like he was, you know, designed by someone

really, I guess, depending on his origins where,

you know, certainly like scientific experiments

kind of altered him and made him who he is, where

Deathstroke had to kind of choose that. Deathstroke

had to train himself. He had to master all that

all those different skills where, yeah, Rocket

Raccoon has those great abilities, but were those

ones he cultivated or were those skills that

he gained by training or those skills that were

just kind of given to him by chance? And because

of that, because Deathstroke was more of a self

-made man as it would be, I'm thinking I'll go

Deathstroke, but it seems like I'm going to guess

that no one's going to change their vote and

we're going to stick with Rocket. Am I correct?

I'm good with rocket. Sorry a Valiant effort

in but I I still think my I like the I like the

point that I made about the the villains that

they face on a regular basis That's true. It's

a hard one the harder in the face But I thought

kind of gotta make it a little bit more interesting,

you know kind of go out go out go out swinging

as indeed today, but but yeah so that was a great

deal of fun so this week we are champion as rocket

raccoon so next week we're gonna have 16 more

combatants you know we have a variety of different

characters as you can see today we kind of went

all over the place and it's gonna stay the same

next week you'll have some characters from comics

tv movies it'll be a lot of fun looking forward

to it let let us know what you guys think of

who we chose and we'll get in all the different

ways to get in contact with us but uh you know

so So anything else for you guys wanted to talk

about for the for the badass bracket or we just

want to wait till next week Should should we

give a peek of a two or three of the contestants

next week or leave it a surprise? I think that's

a great idea Chuck and I think When we look at

adding these characters, we try to get them from

all the different geek properties once we didn't

talk about yet We talked about walking dead,

but we didn't talk game of Thrones and Greg Why

don't you let everyone else out there now one

of your favorite characters that's gonna be in

next week's tournament the Most gorgeous of characters

to make it to the badass bracket. The mother

of all dragons. Khaleesi, Daenerys, Tygerian.

Just lovely and just epic badassness right there.

Chuck, which one character you would like to

reveal that'll be up for next week? Let's see.

Character to reveal. I'm going to say... I'm

going to say a character from a very popular

movie in pop culture, and a very popular movie

from all of our childhood, I think. And that

movie would be the Sandla, and the character

would be Rodriguez. Yes. The guy who goes against

the beast himself. So any fan of the - Benny

the Jets. Yes, exactly. Benny the Jet. Rodriguez.

So one of my all -time favorite films, so I'm

curious to see who he's going against. And we

outmatched that by saying we kind of talked about

him earlier, and that's Fulton Reed from The

Mighty Ducks will also be out there next week,

where, you know, if you're a kid of the 90s or

80s, definitely, you know, Mighty Ducks was a

huge part of my childhood. Fulton Reed was part

of the Basham Brothers. He had that like a...

Banache slap shot. So looking forward to seeing

how he does next week and you know Just another

one just since we're on on the on the topic and

got to think of iconic characters from the 80s

Who's one of the big badasses of the 80s? Of

course, mr. T He will be in next week's bracket

as well along with a bunch of other characters

all from running again You're gonna be surprised

some interesting names up there. So looking forward

to next week But we looked at each episode with

a letter and I have a letter here in response

to NFL free agency that's going on right now

in all the creation that's occurring and kind

of the overreaction that we see nearly every

year. Hey there NFL fan, so have you already

given up on the 2015 NFL season or are you moments

away from getting that 2016 Super Bowl tattoo

that will forever be etched on your body as a

reminder of your sheer stupidity? Let's hold

off on declaring the season champions and losers

before a game is even played. Let's face it,

NFL free agency is highly overrated. Last year

the Dallas Cowboys were supposed to fall even

further when they lost their best defensive player

to Marcus Ware. And what happened? Their defense

actually improved. I mean, if signing free agents

equated the wins on the field, the Washington

Redskins would have three undefeated seasons

by now. Football is not basketball. You can't

win a championship with two or three great players.

As much as I dislike the Patriots, they show

us how big names aren't needed for big wins.

Yes, it's fun to talk about once again. For many

fans, the season was long over before the month

of October. Now hope can return. Now we can actually

talk about teams like the Jacksonville Jaguars.

I keep forgetting they're an actual NFL team

and not a leftover from the XFL. While the talk

is fun, the fandom gets repetitively stupid.

Each year we go through the same song and dance.

where we declare that coaches have lost their

mind or created the master plan for victory.

I do it myself, don't get me wrong, but even

I know there's a limit. I love to feel confident

that the Eagles won't be as awful as everyone

thinks they will be, but the truth is, they'll

probably be awesome. Man, those words hurt to

say out loud. If anything, NFL free agency just

tells us the danger of buying NFL jerseys. That's

why I only wear classic jerseys like Lawrence

Taylor, where I only need to be worried about

wearing the number of a crack addict who was

arrested for underage prostitution. You know,

nothing nearly as bad as wearing a jersey as

someone who left and is now playing for a rival

team. Nothing that serious. But anyways, just

keep hope alive and just because your favorite

player is no longer playing on your favorite

team doesn't mean your season's already over.

It's just beginning. Sincerely, Dan. Nice. Nice.

Yeah, some of the Eagles fans are really freaking

out about what's going on there. Oh, I absolutely

love it, but I They just signed to Marcus Murray

today and we'll see how that goes, you know,

but uh, yeah I love to say they're gonna be awful

But you know, there's always that year where

you think a team is gonna be great or bad and

I don't know I know I know the Dolphins gotten

it out in the Dominican, too Which is yeah, which

you know, it's a big player. I mean, hopefully

that works out for them. So Yeah, I wasn't Wasn't

overly joyed that they signed him because I think

with the money they spent I feel like they could

have got a Like three pretty solid players for

that one price that one guy But uh, he's a game

changer no doubt. So, I don't know we'll see.

Yeah, we'll definitely see but Anyways, that'll

be it for us for this week. There's a lot of
