About this Episode

The hosts provide a scene-by-scene commentary and final review of the 1993 animated film. They analyze the animation quality, voice performances, and the film's standing as a definitive origin story for Batman. The discussion includes observations on recurring visual motifs, connections to other DC Animated Universe projects, and comparisons to later live-action iterations of the character.

Hi, this is Kevin Conroy, and you're listening

to the Geekcast Radio Network. And I am the goddamn

Batman. Hello and welcome to Legends of the Dark

Knight. I'm your host Steve Megatron Phillips

and joining me as always is... Dave, Dave and

Mike. Hello. Hello. Yes, it's been a little bit

since the last record. Not too long. Not so long

as usual, yeah. No, no. And we did finish the

animated series through the new adventures. Yes.

So This episode we will be doing the first of

many commentaries of the films and This being

the first film of the franchise mask of the phantasm

Do you have any thoughts on it before we get

into the actual commentary This was the first

Batman animated theatrical film and Sadly it

was the only one it was the only one because

it underperformed Sadly, you know, you know you

look at it now 21 years later. Oh my god. How

did this not perform at the box office, but You

know 93 It was probably up against stuff like

Super Mario Brothers Well, and honestly, this

is actually still kind of on par with Under the

red hood nowadays. Oh Yeah, most definitely.

I mean it still has that darkish tone. It's still

I Mean all the way around it's it's still pretty

damn close to being at that level Yeah, no, I

Completely agree and this was the very first

movie I ever saw in theaters was it really yes,

I remember it vividly I had Everything related

to it The comics the I had the VHS tape which

I utterly destroyed Yeah, no this was definitely

I didn't even see this in theaters I'm trying

to think what was the first thing I saw in theaters

And it like the biggest one I can probably remember

is like Batman 89 So there's that I'm trying

to see here there's Do you want to go over some

trivia or do you want to do that at the end um

yeah, we can go over some trivia All right, the

the name Phantasm is not used in any way shape

or form within the context of the storyline without

the credits of the movie Andrea Beaumont's alter

ego would be practically nameless Well The idea

of the mob hiring Joker to kill Batman would

be used again in the movie the Dark Knight The

Dark Knight uses many other smaller ideas from

this film, including but not limited to Batman

causing a large semi -truck to topple over into

its side using a bat -cycle or bat -pod at the

end of the film instead of the Batmobile. Dana

Delaney will work with Kevin Conroy and Mark

Hamill again in the three -part Superman the

Animated Series episode World's Finest as Lois

Lane. So technically Batman had Lois before Superman

did. It's just wrong Superman get sloppy seconds

Well, you know Batman is the more popular character

right now That's that's why he gets his own,

you know versus yes Chuckie Saul's line when

he tries to run over the phantasm, this time

I've got you you lousy stinkin' is almost exactly

what was said by Tony Zuko in the original series

episode Robin's Reckoning in which he almost

runs Batman over. Now I've got you you lousy

stinkin' dot dot dot. Despite his significant

role in the original series, Commissioner Gordon

only appears twice in the feature film. One of

the thugs in the semi -truck heist is named Radomski,

shown in the newspaper when he claims to be innocent.

This is obviously an homage to Eric Radomski,

one of the producers. Stacy Keach voices both

Karl Beaumont and the phantasm encouraging the

red herring belief that they are the same person.

This type of red herring was used again in Batman

Beyond Return of the Joker when Mark Hamill voiced

Jordan Price, the prime suspect for the new Joker.

Now it's interesting that, and we've said this

before about the DCAU, they've gone, it doesn't,

they had no plan at the time that it was happening,

but now that we are all looking back on the entire

run, It seems like it was a plan Stacey Keach

would come back and voice one of the characters

in Batman Beyond, Robert... Oh God, what's his

name? I don't even remember. It was Robert Vance.

Robert Vance, that's what it is. Yeah, yeah,

yeah. You know, so I think that's just absolutely

awesome. But yeah, I mean, you know this movie

was was damn good I remember the first time I

saw it was on VHS and I was like what is wait

a second. Is this a long episode? Any any thoughts

from you? I just I really like all the different

connections that are made back to this film later

on mm -hmm Through all the different continuities

Yeah There's so many good lines in this film

and so many good things that happen and it kind

of gives you a Early look into Batman's life

Before he becomes Batman as well as as he becomes

Batman and I honestly I like this story a lot

better than a lot of other tellings Yeah, this

to me and I've said this before this will always

be my go -to origin for how Bruce became Batman

Just because it's so well done it's it's well

animated, you know I'm stating the obvious. It's

very well voice acted And in just the writing

is so damn good Yeah Uh, so I think that about

covers it. I think we should hear from the Joker.

Sounds good. It's Gotham City at night! Yes,

yes it is. I love this opening music. They released

this before new adventures, right? Oh, yeah,

this is released in 93. Yeah See, that's what

kind of screws me up about this movie is that

it was released before the red sky started appearing

in the TV series and if you look in the background

Gotham has a red sky in this or the clouds are

red so to make it look like it's a red sky I

love the designs on these buildings those animators

did a damn good job yeah I'm really surprised

that they didn't well I mean I guess I can't

say that I'm surprised because like sub -zero

they did it again yeah they did they never quite

recaptured this level no well sub -zero that

was the freeze effect For the title true Wasn't

a sprawling no vocal well besides the music but

All the casino I respect the 66 show this gray

and blue did so much better. Oh I know. Just

the way he moves and the way that and I know

it's animation compared to live action but this

is still great animation. I love how he stomps

the guy's hand versus kicking the gun away. He's

like nope that hand no longer works. was this

it looks like Batman but it's not yes it is so

not Batman Wow that's a badass weapon I know

snap the gun right into you know I pointed you

and you get scared Bad assassin. You got distracted

by a car. Classic trick in the book. Yeah, but

this assassin has so much more going for him.

Guy's like, I win! I win! Ha ha ha ha! Can get

away. Oh wait. No, I'm gonna go back and try

to run or run them over Oh damn, there's a window

or not a window. It's a edge of the parking garage

now. There's a window. Oh God I just realized

word Tomorrow never dies get the gag. They got

it from this In Tomorrow Never Dies, the second

Brosnan Bond film, he has an auto -drive car

where he's controlling it from outside the car

with his phone, drives it up to the top of the

parking garage, lets it sail off, it lands in

an Avis rent -a -car office. Well, we parked

it. It's the exact same... That shot just now

that just passed about the car going off the

parking garage roof or where you know, whatever

It's the same angle. It's the same type of shot.

That's so cool. I Don't like this new DA No,

bring back to face Well, he he kind of reminds

me if you look at him and I think a Batman Beyond

Return of the Joker the guy that's trying to

take over Wayne Powers That Mark Hamill plays.

Yes Jordan price. Yes. He looks like him He does

a little bit. Yeah change the hair Yeah The cave

looks so weird in this at least this shot does

when Alfred first walked up and you see the elevator

and stuff I Don't know it doesn't And even the

computer That's that's different from the show

it has to be Well, they do change it No, I know

it I know it changes throughout the series, but

I don't ever remember seeing it like that This

guy is such a sleazeball he's like hey, I'm so

pretty And she's like I'm touching Bruce's face,

haha Ancient, yes, history, no. Oh no, he runs

away, but he doesn't... God, I keep drawing flashes

to Dark Knight. Or not Dark, Dark Knight Rises.

Wait, which one is it? I the dark the dark night.

No, it's not dark No, the the party where he

goes off that's begins. That's what it is. Yeah,

like this is my house Everybody gets up out.

That's I hate you all you're a bunch of sleazeballs

and phony. Yes Because the because the dark night

party is when the Joker shows up and yeah Think

it's funny You got juice in his face. Hey, I

don't think that was juice. I know it was Oh,

it's the councilman he's not the DA but yeah,

he's still a sludge ball sleaze. Yeah Yeah, they

make that that liquid red enough just to think

of juice or wine, but they don't make it dark

enough to really say it's wine. some of these

rooms in Wayne Manor just remind me of You please

pass the salt the what the salt and Michael Keaton

Batman has to walk all the way down the table

to give her the salt and Batman 89 Wow Well,

if you think about it Wayne Manor would be that

you know, it's a giant mansion and it would be

that big but it's like And it's so strange especially

in that movie. It's like this giant dining room

and then oh let's just go to the kitchen Superman

got Batman's sloppy seconds it happens Well,

he does always have those wonderful toys Don't

think those are the toys she's looking for they're

the ones he's looking for Dana Delaney and Kevin

Conroy interacting in this with the these two

voice actors just it's just amazing What's funny

is, Bruce gets her again! Yep. Artie's too much

of a sleazeball to have her. Mother was asking.

He's like, I just like jumping off shit. Is that

so bad? Did that top hat just say Big Bat? I

don't know. I think it did. When he swung by

it, I think it said Big Bat on it. It's the youngest

you'll ever see Bruce. In this series anyway,

yeah. Who's this clown he's the he's the black

hood not the red hood I love how he didn't even

untie the guard or un -gag him. Yep, he's definitely

green in this one. Oh yeah. Almost getting smashed

into a wall and... Hey, there's his first run

in with Bullock. Look at Bullock. So strange

to see Harvey Bullock in a patrolman uniform.

He's like, yeah, I actually have to do work.

I hate that bat. He just doesn't know it yet.

Those Gotham PD cars can't handle shit Never

can never will I See I know this guy wants to

get away, but holy crap your truck is empty What

are you gonna get away with you have no more

pride no more stolen goods? Crunch That was close

And that's why you need wonderful toys Yeah Love

that Alfred actually has like black hair Yeah

He does pretty much throughout the entire DCA

you I mean it's very rare that his Style like

they didn't really give him an update. Well,

he got a little bit of a gray and Yeah I do enjoy

the banter between Alfred and Bruce in this and

then the... Andrea? Yeah, and then the wit with

these two, yeah. She takes his butt down. I love

that. It takes years to master. He laughs. That

almost sounded like Harley yeah, dude As someone

who's been to a cemetery at night I can safely

say don't ever go to a cemetery at night I go

to cemeteries at night I heard that horrible

song today, so that's why So I can so I can die

Well, it's most certainly not Batman. It might

be. It would sound so much better with Beast

Wars Megatron saying it. It would just sound

disturbing then. he's holding onto the pickaxe

and the Grim Reaper won. Yep, pretty much. Now

I know this guy is walking, but I love the effect

of the smoke making him basically look like Morticia

from the Addams family where she just floats

along Oh, I found a hole Criminal go down the

hole You This guy had to be planning this a long

time to dig a grave that deep so he couldn't

get out Well, he doesn't have the bill to actually

get out Yeah, you're right, but at the same time

and the statue kisses your face Where's he at?

Where's he at? Eww. That's a big splat in there.

Look at the guys gagging. Yeah. I'm sorry. If

this show in this series is supposed to be, you

know, kind of have a 1930s, 40s vibe. No gun

in the 1930s and 40s to my knowledge could auto

fire like those guns just did It's funny the

picture of the bat right there. That's the Batman

the animated series logo look. Yep He's just

sitting outside smirking because Gordon's defending

him It's funny they try the bat signal do they

really think that's gonna work That is an 89

homage though. Oh, yeah, definitely Bruce Wayne

is Batman! I love how they animate his cape.

Because it looks like it's... it is though. It's

over his shoulders. It looks like he's fully

cloaked. I love that look, how they do that.

That's so cool. Oh, I do too. That's right. You

nailed it on the head. You know who he is. Yep.

Yep, she does. Batman's Bruce Wayne. There he

is too. You creepy stalker Well, at least he's

not you know Superman x -raying Lois's purse

That's all right. He's staring across the street.

Yeah building across You know, I know it's been

established that Gotham is He was photobombing

He's following it. I know it's been established

that either Gotham is New Jersey or New York

or metropolis is it's New York It's like a Chicago

and Metropolis is laying in those. Yeah. The

thing is, different areas and different ways

and different depictions, one has been New York,

one has been... Metropolis, at least in film,

has always been New York. Every time that they've

filmed, at least to my knowledge. I don't know

about Man of Steel, but the original films. But

the funny thing about Gotham here is that...

It rains a lot in this movie, so it makes me

think, oh, Gotham's Seattle. Or Detroit. Acid

rain! It's Tomorrowland at Disney! 25 years ago,

yeah. I love how being here gives them the idea

for the Batmobile. It's technically like the

Epcot Center. in disney yeah yeah it is you have

the monorail going through you have they have

the car things for the test track you have the

giant ball yeah it's pretty much up caught yep

i never caught the reference until i actually

went to disney Well house of the future Has always

been kind of a gag in in media There were two

separate Warner Brothers cartoons called house

of the future There was some Tex Avery cartoons

called car of the future and farm of the future

the one house of the future I remember is with

the two mice Boyd and Oh, God, what's the...

Yeah, Hubie and Boyd. And it's these two mice

fighting in this house of the future, and they're

going up against this autosweeper. It's hilarious.

I've seen that. That was like a long time ago

I saw it, but I remember that. Yeah. It's hard

to believe that young man is the old fogy from

earlier with the oxygen tank. It's hard to believe

that the gangster on the outside of the door

is actually somebody else too. We'll get to that,

yeah. Hence why I didn't say the name. Yes. He's

a jack of all trades. What a joke. I know, I

try, right? Hey, it's the Joker's gang here.

I mean, a biker's gang. Yeah, exactly. That's

like the lead Joker. Gee, they reused this idea

again. Only they just put paint on their faces.

Yep. And gee, Bruce is doing what Terry did.

Yep. It's like I said before, you know, they

didn't... As they were going along, they didn't

plan all this stuff, but as you look back on

it, it looks like they so did. Mm -hmm. See the

chain guy and... Yep. The bat. It's all they're

laughing. Yeah, it just it kind of came full

circle without meaning to yep Except Terry never

did this No, cuz he wasn't a badass like that

And he didn't have jujitsu He just had straight

smuts, yeah distracted by a girl pummeled in

the chest. I always had problems with that scene

when she touches his face because at one point,

it looks like her fingers are in his mouth. No,

seriously, if you look at the way she touches

his face, her fingers run over his lips, but

he's opening his mouth, so it almost looks like

her fingers end up in his mouth. I just can't.

Temper tantrum. See, look, it's always raining

at night. We obviously know this never happened,

but can you imagine? A world without Batman if

he actually you know if if the things didn't

happen that happened in this movie And they actually

did get married oh my God if there wasn't a Batman

the whole DCA you would have been screwed Pretty

much yeah They needed the detective oh, yes Shoot

he would have died Oh, and the funny thing is,

I caught, um... What's that BTIS episode with

Leslie Tompkins where they kidnap her to perform

an operation on Rupert Thorne? I forget the title

of it offhand as we're watching this, but there's

an episode where she does all that for Rupert,

and she helps a friend of hers, and in the process

of it, she gives Bruce painkillers. So what,

you know... What has been said about Batman in

the past about I think Amanda Waller said it

in Justice League about always being on, you

know, painkillers, you know, they didn't actually,

they helped, but after a while it took a toll

on them. No, of course. The Councilman is in

league with Velestra. Gee, maybe that's why he

wants to get rid of Batman so bad. Yep You sickly

old bastard Not healthy in here guys face he's

just like yeah See Alfred's got gray hair here.

Oh Yeah, and then later on he has white hair

in the redo How did they age him that fast? Wait

a second. That other scene was a flashback. Oh,

that's right. That's why Bruce is so young. Yeah,

that's right. The flashbacks always run. In this

movie, they run. I mean, I know they do a flashback

dissolve, but they run so concurrently with the

current story. Well, it's kind of like in Man

of Steel Yes Which also stole from this Probably

I'm just no, I'm just saying with how to tell

the backstory. Yeah The sad thing looking at

this scene, all I can think of is Ariel coming

out of the sea to go see Eric in the castle from

Little Mermaid. It's not often that we see the

water side of Wayne Manor. I mean, I know it's

there and obviously we see that it's there back

in Old Wounds in the series, but I like this

design and this setting for Wayne Manor. I thought

it was really cool. And the bats interrupt everything.

Yep. It's like this is your message from your

parents all the way to the sky, to the ground,

from the bats. Your life is screwed, sorry kid.

Look, you can even tell by the shoes. And he's

starting his cave dig. What does this scene remind

you of? Batman Begins? Yep. And this is the reason

why we don't need another retelling of the origin

of Batman. This sums it up in its entirety. I've

said it before over the last almost five years

that G -Seren has been online. Mask of the phantasm

is the origin of Batman in animation in Mainstream

media not counting comics because we don't know

what the hell zero year is gonna do since it's

taking so long to Get it done, but I'm sorry,

but this will always be my origin story for Batman

I know and I agree. I'm not disagreeing Alfred,

you can't look at my Halloween costume yet. I

must scare you with it. As it scared me. Boo!

And the eyes narrow. Freaked Alfred out. And

the Batman was born. Where the hell did you just

hide that photo he just shoved it in his cape

and it's like I attached it to my cape He's the

goddamn bad man he can do pretty much I'm not

gonna argue with him. Yeah Felestra oh Wait a

second. How can that old man? Earlier be driven

around by a driver and now he can drive himself

to this old abandoned. Well, it's a bit but yeah

Yeah, the house of the future. Yeah And then

he falls to the ground This one I remember watching

this on VHS back in the day This was a shock

to see it because I thought the whole point of

this was the the main villain of the Phantasm

I didn't think we would see any other Bad villains

in this and then boom. There's the Joker. Oh,

I know that was such a surprise Yeah It's going

to be a bumpy ride. And the joker music. Robodog.

You're not supposed to... Perform cruelty to

animals Joker. I don't care how sick you are

It was like kicking the can When he kicked the

dog it reminds me of again of old ones. Hey,

do I hit your kids? Oh wait, I do Guano, man.

Where's Ace Ventura when nature calls when you

need it? It's kind of like Joker and the Dark

Knight. Money means nothing. I do it for the

hell of it. I don't know where you've been A

nice big smile Eh, he got turned down. Denied.

Scumbag. He got replaced and denied. Batman.

Can read lips from that far away And there goes

the stab She's a good detective to Bruce She

got you pegged Now here comes the rub See now

now the guy is walking there's no smoke he's

walking and Well this is hilarious, yeah What

is that oh shit it is so that's right And the

Batwing. That's not much of a close -up though.

I was hoping for another 89 homage with the moon

behind it. Wasn't enough for a close -up though.

Oh that bitch can run Smoke gives her super speed

What is she the freaking flash I cannot run the

bat wing Yeah, like they're gonna get the batwing

This is like in the dark night now, you know

Bullock's been waiting a long time to say that

one Geez still the Dark Knight right in that

construction building. Yeah Does Hollywood have

an original bone in its body? Oh Come on, you

know, you like the Dark Knight. Oh, I'm not gonna

say I don't I'm just gonna say this does it better

Well, this didn't have to have to rely on sonar

technology so One of the first times ever. Blood

from Batman. Hey, it's like Arkham City now.

That jokes on you oh That's right, I remember

this scene now We will hunt him because we have

to because he can take it kind of convenient

for the plot that she showed up well she kind

of knew they were after him yeah and if it's

not so obvious after that fight with phantasm

and batman that who phantasm is then people need

to be hit over the head with a three stooges

mallet Oh god, this is twice that Dana Delaney

and Bruce Wayne, or Dana Delaney and Kevin Connery

have been in this type of scene. The second time

happens in World's Finest Part 2. Talk about

a father -daughter team up that one never came

back. Yeah. The whole time watching this scene,

I keep thinking of Ray Chantalia. Especially

how her father is his face and his whole upper

body's drawn. Well, he didn't help. No, not at

all. That's twice. He knows. They're gonna get

it on. Again. At least this time they're, you

know, got a room. And the waves. Yep. I don't

think Wayne Manor has ever been depicted in this...

I don't think it was ever depicted in a series

like this. I mean, yeah, sure, from a glance

we see... It's always dark and you can see the

cliff but you never get to see that side of it

ever again. Yeah See, I like this. I wish they

did more with this You know, they did that picture

intentionally, right? What one? The one of him

and her versus the one of his parents. Oh, yeah.

He just all of a sudden gets this stroke of genius

then. Yeah. And this is almost like Batman 89.

Yep. Pretty much. He never wears that hat again.

No. I so want Mark Hamill to do the Joker scene

from 89 when he's sitting in the chair with the

newspaper. That would be so awesome. They're

really good impressionists on YouTube that can

do that. And I think they have. They sound just

like Hamill. Eh, the buzzer. If only he shook

the hand of Artie and the buzzer electrocuted

him like it did poor Tony in the 89 film. Actually,

he does wear a similar hat and coat to this later.

In World's Finest, in the very first scene of

World's Finest. It's not that color, but it's

similar. It just nods. That lightning scene a

second ago? Yeah. That'll come up again. laugh

mcgillis laugh this is almost like the beware

the creeper yeah sounds like a monkey I wonder

who did those vocal effects for Artie's laugh.

I don't know if it was the actual voice actor.

I know Andrea Romano, the voice director, does

a lot of those effects sometimes. I love that

look on Batman's face. That grin, or that smirk.

This is priceless here. I love this part. Guess

what boys and girls she's the phantasm Is there

a meat called bolo I don't think so that's it's

supposed to be baloney. Oh, okay Hey lady, I

can blow smoke too This is gonna be one of the

first instance instances of Female abuse on screen

and Joker gets punched in the balls. So yeah

Oh, you're right, it is. He smacks her with his

meat. Well, he always knew how to handle his

sausage. It's just weird how she just appears

there. It's got to be that canvass technology.

don't know how she's doing that but uh meet my

biggest fan i was gonna turn her into sidewalk

stroganoff yeah but change the menu And Batman

on his bat cycle. The up close animation on her

facial features is amazing with this wind. I

know. He should have said almost got him right

there. That's probably where he would have said,

well, shit. Yeah. WV logo nice Oh, dude. The

way this is animated, they're like a Megazord

and a monster from Power Rangers, because they're

so larger than the city. Godzilla! Look, he's

Godzilla. We're a reasonable facsimile. Godzilla!

Come on Batman, use your cape already. Hey look,

he's toothless. And yet every time he gets them

replaced, they're still yellow. The Joker is

British! Oh, that was bad. For a limited time

only until the new adventures where he has white

teeth. That's right. I finally went to a dentist!

It's so funny as his tooth is missing a second

ago and now it's not in that scene we just -

Oh no, it is still! Okay. It didn't show his

entire smile at the time, so... I understand

wanting to stop Andrea from doing something she'll

regret, but... You could've just let them go

for Dai. Well, why is this fight going on? Not

that I'm not enjoying seeing it, but like...

The Joker has no real... His plan was to kill

her. She's not anywhere near where they're fighting.

I mean, it's not like the Joker... No, but the

entire ground's rigged. Yeah, that's true. So

he doesn't expect her. He's... Technically, he

offered to save Batman. Right, but this entire

area of Gotham is all abandoned. I mean, it's

not like, you know... Superman and Man of Steel

going through 50 people in Metropolis. I mean,

it's not like the This whole area is abandoned.

So it's not the Joker planet 25 bombs in Las

Vegas Kaboom! Hey look, a war wheel! And Joker

just starts laughing. Think Batman would learn

that trick And into the sewer he goes wonder

if I'm gonna do a lizard down there Well, there's

no cracks about that joke the relationship between

them two. We just ran Alfred and Bruce. He's

like the father you never had. Yeah. You know,

she's not dead now. Apparently she will find

him. Doesn't he look like a character from a

bad Archie's comic? Yeah, he looks like Jughead,

actually. Less geeky than Jughead without the

glasses, but, uh, yeah. And the great lead up

to the animated series. He's like three roofs

away from the damn signal. He's just waiting

for the light to come on, jeez. Get the Gravnel

out! Welcome to Motel Batman. We'll leave a light

on for you. Tada! Tada! Alright folks, that's

going to end our commentary. We will be back

after this. Legends of the Dark Knight will be

episode 23. We just wrapped up the commentary

on Batman Mask of the Phantasm, the first and

only theatrical Batman animated feature. It still

holds up. It's still so powerful. Every scene

in this movie is amazing. I love this film. This

is the very first one I ever saw in theater.

Mm -hmm. And I just... It's... It's just so great.

I can't... It's like the ultimate Batman origin,

the ultimate Batman story. The art is great animations

great the the battles are are awesome I Mean

everywhere you everywhere you slice it this film

It it deserves to be in a top ten list oh Yeah,

almost any animated film Yeah, most definitely

And they're you know going back and doing commentary

on it. There's a lot of things that I hadn't

put like there was a scene where they were going

across the rooftop Batman was going across a

rooftop and They paused on one of the buildings

and there's a there's the WB logo right there

in the building I mean, there's a lot of things

that when you watch something and then maybe

a week later review it sure you can take notes

and and have a discussion about the film, but

really when you watch it back and do a commentary

episode it really brings a really at least in

my case i noticed a lot more than i ever did

you know watching this the first time and it's

probably because i've seen so many of the different

batman variations since this came out and you're

right this origin story is by far the best in

animation the best in in in television and film

it just is yeah Definitely and I I just love

every aspect of it, you know the the making of

Batman the You know the lost opportunities the

lost love the Crete kind of you know showing

the the pre Joker Yeah And then there's all these

other ties that in other Batman films or or mythos

that pull back into aspects of this film. Whether

they're trying to or not, it pulls a nice film,

so you can't deny that this film is still relevant

today. Yeah, it so much is. It really, really

is. Alright, so I'm going to give it a 5 out

of 5 stars perfect. Yeah, there are a couple

of things here and there, a couple of nitpicks,

but overall between what like we said the animation

the voice acting the music the tones of the movie

it's just all in all a great great film yeah

I I also agree I'll give it a five out of five

great film it was still one of the films I can

watch every time I put it in does not make me

tired or pass out like some other animated series

or films. This is one of those ones that I just

enjoy to watch and sometimes discover new things

about it every time I watch it. Oh yeah. So much,

yeah. It's just so, so good. Alright, you want

to close the show for us? Yes. This, of course,

is... The first of the commentary films there

there will be another one coming up in the next

episode which is Batman and mr. Freeze sub -zero

Which will hopefully get done soon This should

be able to tide you over for this month. Anyway,

we should have another one next month At least

enough to finish off some of the commentaries

before the new year before we start Batman Beyond
