Starscream here, and I am Lord and Master of

All Things Transformers. Don't tell Megatron.

You're listening to All Things Transformers,

version 2 .0. things transformers version 2 .0

episode 28 i'm your host steve megatron phillips

and joining me as always is dfg and mike hello

hello how are you doing pretty well just got

done doing a interview with uh... the creator

of shelf life x dot com cool cool which is a

toy collector site very cool very cool uh...

yeah I didn't even really plan this, and as we

all know, this is Steve's show. Mike has a thing

for irony, though. Well, I honestly did not plan

it at all. I honestly did not. But this past

Monday, September 17th, 2012, was the 28th anniversary

since uh G1 aired in 1984 and this is episode

28 of version 2 .0 I swear to god I did not plan

this but not generation 2 don't even get me started

you so need to use that in here somewhere like

in an ad break or something the the new one I

sent you um oh I will yeah uh but no I because

I I was because I was you had said to me something

about doing a new ATTF and I had to look at it

it was like Tuesday this past Tuesday the 18th

and I had to go back in the RSS and I had RSS

I had to go back in iTunes and I had to look

and see like what episode number we were on and

I was like oh we released 27 and then we released

a Steve Blum interview oh how fucking ironic

where it's you know It's episode 28 of version

2 .0, and it's also the 28th anniversary. I honestly

cannot believe it's been 28 years, and I cannot

believe in two years it'll be 30. It's just amazing.

And for me, there have been a couple of fires

that have been lit under my ass in the last six

months or so. As everyone knows, and I'm not

going to go through the whole story, but everyone

knows my first podcast was TFG1 podcast. My general

idea was to go through every episode of the G1

cartoon, and at that time, I think you and I

had messaged back and forth on Twitter, whatever

it was. I don't even know how the hell we got

into... It was a Twitter conversation. Yeah,

it was a Twitter conversation, but you know,

and then it... You know, it grew into the friendship

that we have and blah, blah, blah. But in the

beginning, I said at the time, I didn't know

anything about editing. I didn't know anything

about RSS. I knew nothing of coding. You know,

I knew nothing of website design. I still don't

know anything about website design other than

what I like and what I can see. I have no idea

how to actually do it. But, you know, back then,

I was recording them. You were doing all the

work and all the editing and posting and everything

else. And since then, it's... kind of taking

a switcheroo where I'm doing most of everything

and I'm not taking full credit. You do a lot,

but as far as just general podcasting, I understand

TFG1 was not the best, but not the... I've often

said the first 11 episodes suck. When I said

a second ago about having a fire lit under my

asses because people continually remind me that

it sucks like just general people that that will

find it and give it a bad review so the 30th

anniversary we're gonna redo it as TFG 2 and

that's kind of what's you know doing Getting

prepped for that show now has kind of reignited

my love for Transformers in general as far as

the media I mean, I still love Transformers toys

and stuff like that, but I don't love the art

of collecting anymore. But as far as the media,

I went through, I don't know, four or five days

worth of G1. I think I'm all the way up to season

two episode, season three episode. I think it's

season two. And I just enjoyed watching it again.

And it was just absolutely amazing. I don't know.

It just, it's one of those things where, holy

crap, 28 years have gone by since this thing

started. It is kind of crazy. Yeah. Yep. And,

you know, as much as people, and I do tend to

agree when you're looking at it as a reviewer,

yes, G1 doesn't hold up today. It's still enjoyable,

but it doesn't hold up. Right. Right. Story -wise

or, I mean, the only thing that stands up is

the designs and vocal. Right and You got to think

it, you know, I'm and I'm sure someone will say

oh well if it if it wasn't do you want it would

have been something else blah blah But you have

to give generation one the credit it deserves

where or when I say that without it We wouldn't

have had beast wars. We wouldn't have had beast

machines. We wouldn't have had animated now,

of course I know some people say yeah, you know

animated but whatever we wouldn't have had prime

and it's just absolutely freaking amazing, and

it's just mind -boggling that it has lasted this

long. And the toy line for Transformers, the

toy line has never had a break, never in 28 years

of that toy line has it had, like has it gone

away for more than maybe a month or so. You know

what I mean? It's like, you know, you... You

look at other franchises, and I'm going to throw

all these out there, and I know that it's because,

oh, well, it doesn't have a cartoon, or it doesn't

have anything promoting it, blah, blah, blah.

But you look at Mask, you look at Silver Rocks,

you look at Thundercats. Look at it this way.

Look at Batman or some of the other ones. Yeah,

they sometimes have them in there, but if you've

noticed, they usually aren't in there unless

there's either a cartoon or a movie. If there's

not either, you don't see them. Unlike Star Wars

where that's just... ever cuts yeah but that's

ongoing that's that's a constant i i don't count

the there's since the several things i do not

count when it comes to toys and and and and movies

and impressions were you know it's it's marvel

and dc the dc toys and the marvel toys and and

star wars and and and all that they're they're

gonna be around for ever because of the legacy

that those three franchises have and that's not

to take away from the legacy that transformers

has but what what here is is that while other

franchises have been awesome and they are all

equally awesome in my mind you know it hasn't

yes the overall legacy of of another franchise

might have have lasted 30 years you know you

know this year you know loincloths and power

swords and all that gray skull stuff but you

know transformers has has lasted 28 almost 30

years with constantly reinventing itself. Oh

yeah, and if it's not one thing, it's another.

I mean, they had G1, then they had the movie,

then they had, you know, Action Masters, which

is what ultimately killed it. Well, actually,

they had the Masters of, you know, Power Master

or Target Master, whatever, but then Beast Wars

is what ultimately revived it from its dead state

and brought it back to its current. Right. Yeah.

But without G1, you wouldn't have any of the

other shows. Yeah, that's that's very, very true.

And, you know, in in celebration of of that and

it's only it's not even in celebration of that,

it's just because of, you know, we wouldn't have

without G1, we wouldn't have Matt Teeger and

his High Moon Studios crew. wanting to make a

solely you know G1 accurate video game and two

of the Now I know a lot of people like general

games or say, oh, well, it's a pretty good game

But it's not the best blah blah blah for us diehard

transformers fans fall and war for Cybertron

and fall of Cybertron or rules to the two best

Transformers video games we've ever had and because

of those games, we have two very awesome Stan

Bush songs in War for Cybertron. We had Until

All Are One. Stan did that song beforehand, but

it was used in the game and it was putting Transformers

back in the limelight. With Fall of Cybertron,

we have the Touch epic guitar remix. For this

episode, I wanted to talk to Stan about the remix

and get his thoughts on it. And I told him off

air, you're not going to hear it in the clip,

but I told him off air that I think that the

original 86 version of The Touch and the Epic

guitar remix are different. They're very different,

but the Epic guitar remix is more so an homage

to the original version of The Touch. and they're

so similar so i bookended the uh the the stan

clip with the original touch and then the epic

guitar mix from fall of cybertron it was just

just amazing yes yes simply amazing simply amazing

yes i i and i did listen to them the the one

I liked it but it was a little repetitive for

me but then like you said the one with the the

updated version of the 86 movie one I really

like that but that's because it gave it kind

of a modern quote -unquote touch without defacing

the original. Well you'll hear in the clip here

coming up I had asked Stan what was the you know

process of doing that so I'm sure Think it's

just better if we just go to the clip now so

you can hear him say that And then we'll come

back with other Transformers news items, I guess

Well, one of the cool things that happened, it

just kind of happened by accident. I was in touch

with High Moon who created the new Transformers

game. High Moon is, of course, near San Diego.

I had been down there a couple of years ago when

I went to a Comic Con and stopped by and met

the people there, the game creators, and did

a walk through. Anyway, when they... contacted

me about using the Touch in the new game. I was

sending them the version of it, and then it occurred

to me that I could send them... I had stems from

when we did the rock band and also Guitar Hero.

We created stems of the mix. So, you know, you

have the vocal, the guitar, the track, and so

forth. And I also had stems from the Sam Steen

version. And it dawned on me that maybe, well,

it was kind of like myself and also Dave over

there, High Moon. Together we came up with an

idea of doing a kind of a hybrid with the original

version and the Sam Steen version. So that's

kind of what's being used in the game. It worked

out really cool. They're in the same key. It

was just a matter of getting the tempo. But the

melody works really well over the two versions

going back and forth with different elements

of both. There are two individual versions. One

is the Power Mix, which is more so the Sam's

theme kind of style. And the other one is the

Epic Guitar Mix, which is more so in the style

of the original, but it's amped up more. What

I noticed on the... on the Power Mix is that

when you're singing the song, your voice isn't

as... I don't want to... It's not as if you're

singing as slow as it is. It doesn't seem like

the tempo of your voice is as slow as it is in

the Sam's, because the Sam's theme is one is

you're really drawing your voice out. In the

Power Mix, it doesn't seem that way to me. Was

there a difference in the recordings? Yeah, it

was like sped up electronically, you know to

to match the the tempo of the feel of the Track,

you know, so it it sounds different. Yeah, I

think it's a little higher or maybe not higher

but just sped up Yeah And with the end of our

mix. Oh, no, go ahead. What were you gonna say?

No, no, no, you're right in the epic guitar mix

almost has a dance feel, you know with the the

quarter note kick drum going along with the...

It's kind of cool actually. It has a neat feel.

Yeah, I mean they're both just excellent, excellent

remixes. Thank you, thanks a lot man. I've told

you this before when we've talked. When you originally

made Sam's theme with the original original version...

personally I wasn't a fan of the rap track in

there but I understand why that that was done

and everything else but with this one usually

when I see the term remix I'm like oh no because

to me and you know I listen to a lot of different

music but to me when it says remix usually the

remix is some rap track that has nothing to do

with the actual song every remix I've heard has

done that. And with the touch, it's like, you

know, you've done an amazing job with recreating

that song over the years. I mean, there's...

Oh, thank you, man. You know, you can listen

to the original version on the 86 soundtrack.

You can listen to the 2007 version. You can listen

to the Sam's theme version. You can listen to

these two versions. There are four. entirely

different songs, even though it's the same song,

same lyrics, but it's because of the keynotes

and the melody and everything else and how it's

changed and it's just amazing. Yeah, what else

have you got going on? I mean, are you working

on a new album at all? I mean, I know Dream the

Dream 2010. Yeah, we've got a new album going,

working on that. And it's going great. The new

stuff is just slamming. So it's going to be coming

out early next year. We're over halfway done

with the writing and recording. So it's coming

along great. This EP, I guess you'd call it,

with these two songs, that's kind of like coming

out now to promote the game and also the single.

But what's really cool is the artwork with the

actual Transformers there. That was... Yeah,

Hasbro gave permission to use that to promote

the single, which is amazing. And of course,

there's a music video that's coming that will

be out in the next few days. Actually, it will

hit YouTube. And we're going to get that information

out for that. So it should actually be on all

the – well, I can't say for sure, but I think

Activision will probably put it on their social

media. kind of thing, and we'll get the word

out. But the video is going to have footage from

the game, so it'll be cool. Oh, cool. Kind of

like when you did Heat of the Battle. Yeah. When

you did the Heat of the Battle video. That's

awesome. With the new album, do you have a projected

release date for that next year, or is it just

sometime next year? I'm thinking spring. Oh,

cool. That's what we're aiming for. Cool. That's

awesome. If we have the recording done by February,

let's say, we should be able to get it out by

May or so, April, May, whatever. In that range,

I think. That's what we're aiming for. Yeah,

that's great, though. And you're still doing

your live appearances and all that stuff out

there in California, right? You're still doing

all your shows? Yeah. Yeah, we will play in around.

I have an acoustic band, Acoustic Saints. We

play like we have a violin guy plays violin,

mandolin and guitar and he's great at all of

them and the bass player from Quiet Riot and

it's a really cool thing. We do shows around

and I'm still performing with another band as

well like a kind of a cover band thing where

we do like a 70s and 80s kind of thing, but everything's

going great. It's exciting to be in the creative

mode at the moment. Writing this stuff, that's

always my favorite thing to do because it's kind

of like, I don't know, it's hard to get there,

but when you get something that's a good song,

you're like, oh yeah, this works, you know what

I mean? You can't always get there, but you know

when you see it kind of thing. Yeah, yeah, I

mean it's like, you know, you write a title down

or you write a lyric down or whatever else, and

you're like, I can't see it just yet, let me

work on this a little bit more, and then as the

vision progresses, it'll hit you full circle

where, oh yeah, that's where I was gonna go with

that. Yeah, things suddenly click after you've

been stuck on an idea for a month or two, and

then all of a sudden it's like, oh yeah, if I

just do this. It's like a puzzle, you know? Well,

it's kind of like brainstorming. It's like you

write down an idea, oh no, that'll never work.

Crumple it up, throw it away. It's like write

down another one. No, that's not going to work.

But no, I mean, just. With these two remixes,

I mean, I personally like the Epic guitar one

a little bit better than the Power Mix, but I

love them both equally, but I enjoy listening

to that one more simply because it feels like

it's not the exact, but it feels like the original

so much, but it's just ramped up even more with

the guitars. Oh, thank you. I'm glad you like

them. I thought they came out really nice, too.

Oh, no, they did. They absolutely did. It was

just amazing. I can't wait to hear your... When

Dream the Dream came out in 2010, and you had

sent me that copy, and I was like, oh, man, this

album is great. I can't wait to see what else

you've got coming for next year. Well, I think

I'm even going to beat that. I mean, I honestly

do. It's shaping up to be like an amazing record.

I'm really happy with how the writing is coming.

And I did another just a side thing. I did a

beer commercial that's airing in Australia now.

So that's kind of a cool thing, too. It's kind

of unrelated, but it's always fun to do different

stuff. Yeah. I did a lot of commercials back

in the 80s and 90s as a singer. Like Toyota and

Coors Beer and all these other things. You've

done a lot in your long standing career. Well

thank you man. I appreciate that. It means a

lot too to have people that appreciate what I

do. It's very gratifying. I don't know if it

would necessarily work today, but have you ever

thought about going back to D .A .R .E. and giving

that a new version? Like I said, you've remade

The Touch and you've done different versions

of that four different times. Is D .A .R .E.

a song that you think would be able to have an

updated version? Is there something to do with

that? That's a cool idea, actually. That's a

really cool idea. That could be maybe one of

the focal tracks for the new album that's non

-transformers. Well, I mean, it is transformers,

but what I mean is non -touch. It's one of those

things where you keep going back. You can imagine

Led Zeppelin doing a disco version of Stairway

to Heaven or something. I don't know about that.

No, you couldn't do it. You couldn't do a disco

version of Stairway to Heaven. There's some things

you can't mess with. That's one of those, I think.

Although Eric Clapton did Layla and he came up

with a totally different song. That's actually

a good idea. Dare would be... Maybe I'll mess

with that and see if I can come up with some

kind of new twist on it. It's a good idea. That

would be interesting. All right, well, thank

you very much. We're going to head back to the

Generation 2. Wrong. This is not Generation 2.

This is... Generation 1, done right. The year

Yes, that's right. And, you know, the thing of

it is, when I talked to Stan in that clip, he

said that the Power Mix, which is not the one

used in Fall of Cybertron, the Power Mix is a

remix of the Sam's theme version, whereas the

Epic Guitar remix is more so an homage to the

original The Touch from TFTM. And spring of next

year, hopefully, spring of 2013, he said that

he was hoping to have a new album out, so I can't

wait for that. Nice. Yeah, very, very, very cool.

So what else is going on in Transformers News,

sir? Transformers News? Alright, I'll stop doing

that. Yes, very much. As for... There is Transformers

Prime news. Season 3 will not be the final chapter.

It is going to be 16 episodes, however, instead

of the regular 26 that we've been given. It was

confirmed by Jeffrey Combs that there will be

a fourth season of Transformers Prime. So I Am

definitely glad that they're actually going to

hit the season for mark. Yeah The thing of it

was wasn't you know, you know people on Twitter

jumped down my throat for assuming that it was

going to be the final season blah blah blah but

when you know TFW reports from from someone on

a you know that that's actually at the convention

where the voice actor person is or whatever you

know what i mean when they report and and and

they say a quote from him saying that you know

this is the the last Part of of this iteration

of of you know of this, you know this part of

the transformers You know when when you hear

something of this is the last part of that iteration

you think of oh Well, then season three is it

it's done, you know, and then of course, you

know We actually got different confirmation and

as you just said he said that it no it's not

the final bow blah and that does keep in line

with what we knew about about Hasbro wanting

to take prime into you know at least to 2015

I honestly hope the show gets gets five seasons

you know I know that's probably a you know a

stretch but right now because I am currently

watching season two as it airs um right now the

story is getting so good so good I'm Finally

caught up other than whatever one came out either

today or yesterday or whatever it was. Yeah,

I It I'd actually blitz through From episodes

6 or 7 on through to the 18 or 19 or something

of season 2 last episode you saw was Silas's

breakdown No, okay So I'm obviously still behind

I can only watch what I can torrent because Cuz

I don't have cable and I don't I even before

I didn't have that station. So yeah But yeah,

I am liking the show. I'm liking all the different

gears that they've been getting Cybertronian

artifacts I'm glad that it's not ending Yeah,

I while I do love Beast Wars if it was put in

a newer aesthetic and I could see it working

better in today's age. I mean, I really love

that show, but I like Transformers Prime as well.

I wouldn't say they're neck and neck for me because

I still am very biased. I'm still biased, but

that's the same difference between you and Generation

One. Yeah, oh yeah. So I mean, but I would say

Transformers Prime is definitely in the light

of its own and is the best show we've gotten

since Beast Machines by far. Oh yeah, most definitely.

And I hope that it doesn't end anytime soon.

Yeah. I'm very excited for the fact that it's

going on Season 3 and confirmed for Season 4.

Yeah. As for the other aspect of it, the Beast

Hunters thing that got trademarked and everybody

was going ape shit over it. Yes. It is obviously

going to be a part of Transformers Prime. They're

going to have beasts in it I'm sure at some point.

They're probably gonna have the Dinobots or something

like that. Mm -hmm because They're people were

speculating upon first hearing it that it's a

possible new Beast Wars beast machines cartoon

and toy line because everybody thought Transformers

Prime was getting canned after season 3 Mm -hmm,

which you know, yes, I mean granted for those

that know the history of beast hunters It was

supposed to be where beast machines is and they

had these trans tech Which trans tech was another

line that didn't quite make it in between beast

hunters and beast machines But trans tech Or

beast hunters, I mean that Also had Beast Wars

characters and like Optimus Prime and it wasn't

primal They were you know, there were a lot of

there was jazz and some other guys in a Starscream.

So I'm glad they're not bringing Beast Wars or

Beast Machines back. Yeah, I'm hoping if they

are bringing beasts that are semi related to

Beast Wars into it and Like say if they tried

bringing out a rat character or a cheetah or

somebody I hope that they go back to the original

voice actors for those type of things they're

going to use the same likeness or Name or whatnot,

but if not, I really don't care I mean either

way because the show is really good. Yeah, but

I can definitely see this tying into the arachnid

And the insecticons. Yeah, because they are in

a sense beasts Yeah, so I I'm very geeked to

find out what they do with that whole plot line

Yes It's just, with me and Transformers Prime,

I know a lot of people don't agree with me and

that's all well and good. I know one of our other

podcasting friends, the guy that is helping us

run XRG now, Mike Powers, he made a comment on

Twitter a while ago saying, the beginning and

ending of the seasons are great, but the middle

is just filler. I do not agree with that statement.

Anyone that tells me that is either just watching

it as a cartoon and not as a Transformers fan,

because for me, I've grown so attached to Transformers

Prime that I see storylines in every single episode.

From Darkness Rising all the way now to Legacy

which just aired, it's an entire fluid story

for me. sure there are gonna be moments where

it's like what the fuck but it really hasn't

been for me it's more like epic moments of holy

awesomeness because it's just some of the stuff

that this show is doing just you don't expect

it I mean it's it's kind of like you know as

a kid in 92 watching a BTIS episode that you've

never seen before and something happens that

you just totally did not expect. That's exactly

the feeling that I'm getting from Transformers

Prime is that they are, you know, when you think

it's gonna go down one way and it goes down another,

you're just totally floored. And that's why I

love this series so much. Well, it's like that

episode that I just saw recently of the Starscream

clones. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. And then Bulkhead

kills one of them. Yeah. And then he's like,

oops. And then I'm like, what? He just bludgeoned

Starscream to death. And then I see a Starscream

alive later. I'm like, what? And then I realized,

oh, clones. But I mean, yeah, I can see like,

yeah, there are a few episodes. I wouldn't say

all of them, but I would say there are a few

that are filler in a sense. But there are still

elements within those episodes that still tie

it in to some degree back. Into the main plot

line, but you have to know Transformers in order

to see that Yeah, and I think I think one of

them one of Mike's Issue my you know and I can't

speak for him, but I think from what he said

on Twitter was that oh it only took them X number

of episodes to do a clip show and Even though

the I think this was in early in season two It

was the episode where Fowler is getting interrogated

by his boss. The storytelling for season two,

you take that episode arc where they're hunting

down four relics at once and they send Bulkhead

one way, they send RC and Jack another way, they

send Bumblebee and Raph another way. Optimus

and the rest of the team go the other way. That's

four different storylines coming together in

the final story as to finding out, you know,

what's going on, you know, you know, Bulkhead's

story and what happened to him. I will say that

as of the current airing of Legacy this past

Friday, I'm glad Bulkhead has dropped his emoness.

He's he's getting a little depressed there for

a while But I'm glad he's he's he's back to his

his roaring wrecking self Yeah Transformers Prime

Check it out people. It's an awesome show Yes,

definitely So Switching gears from Transformers

Prime. We're going to jump into something that

neither of us like to really talk about Transformers

4 news which they sigh Michael Bay talks Transformers

4 Peter Cullen is returning as Optimus Prime

despite the fact they said they're changing damn

near everybody in the cast You will be having

Peter Cullen back as Optimus Prime and a lot

of people were asking so why is he back and Yeah,

Michael Bay I'm fine with him walking away, I

wish he would. I wish he wasn't doing Transformers

4, but... It's not a reboot, but it's not tied

in with the others either. Well, he has said

in other interviews so far that... The other

three films are in the continuity. They are part

of history, but they are moving on and telling

a different story for four. When he says that

he that or when it's written online somewhere

that the entire cast is going to be changed up,

I see that as the entire human cast and majority

of the robots. I don't. They won't get rid of

prime because he's the only leader of the Autobots

that everybody knows right get rid of bumblebee

Despite the fact they should because nobody buys

its toys and they're all shell formers Yes, but

there's no voice actor. So all it is is just

reusing a model Yeah, and the other ones that's

just to sell new toys and they practically killed

everybody else. So yeah, I Don't I don't know

and I'm kind of glad we're not really, you know,

our, well, your approach to ATTF has always been

news two weeks after everybody has talked about

it and we just talk about the stuff we really

want to talk about. We don't, you know, we're

not here to break news to people. Even though

several times I could have, especially with Transformers

Prime writers. But anyway, you know, it's one

of those things where I'll look at a news item,

but I'm not gonna get so invested in in Transformers

4 news like I was with Revenge of the Fallen

and Dark of the Moon because I Just want them,

you know, I just want to be able to see the movie

when it comes out You know, I don't care where

they film They could film on the frickin moon.

I wouldn't care. You know what I mean? Wait,

they did? True But you know what I mean? It's

like you know I don't At this point. I just want

to see the movie. I don't you know sure I'm gonna

you know have a reaction to whatever new cast

members are announced, but as far as like You

know finding out the overall plot Hey, if it's

if if the actual you know final script plot is

revealed before the movie has come out or whatever

I'll look at it, but as far as reporting on the

news about it I just don't care, because it gets

so tedious. It's like every news item that we

ever had, for the most part, about Revenge of

the Fallen and Dark of the Moon, was, hey, they're

shooting here, hey, they're shooting here. Or,

oh my god, Shia LaBeach broke his arm, and the

shooting is delayed for three days, and you know,

whatever else. It's like all these little trivial

bits of news that really, in the grand scheme

of things, have nothing to do with the final

product. Okay, well shy as arm thing kind of

did but you know, you know what I mean though

It's like it just it's just way too damn tedious

for me to talk about and as far as Michael Bay

returning You know, he he says in himself in

this little, you know excerpt, uh, you know transformers

the ride came out and oh my god Someone else

is gonna take this over blah blah. Basically

what he's saying here is oh my god Someone else

is gonna get paid for when I started but you

know, I mean it's like Whatever as long as he

listens to and he did with Dark of the Moon with

a lot of stuff because I saw a lot of Transformers

references in Dark of the Moon as long as he

listens to writers that may be Transformers fans

or as long as he Is open -minded to the Transformers

fan community about different homages and whatever

else I'm not saying the movie has to be a total

homage to anything, but I Think over the first

three films he came a long way In the first film

he's like fuck the fans. I don't care what happened

in the history blah blah blah I'm making the

movie. I want to make You know take for example

flames on optimus everybody was up in arms that

there were gonna be flames on optimus now nobody

cares Yeah, yeah, exactly You know so from that

point in transformers 2007 to Darker the moon

where there's so many different you know transformers

references, and I also think it's part probably

because of hasbro because hasbro wants to do

this whole united continuity thing uh... where

they have one whole mythos verses all this section

is beast in this section is armada this section

is this is section is that so uh... what you

mention that watch them have of the co around

no object all don't even don't even go there

if I'm right and they have a Fowler and they

watch it'll be the real Fowler but that would

be kind of cool having Ernie Hudson though I

could see him playing that though oh yeah like

physically oh yeah they'd have to get kids for

the rest of parts but yeah Ernie Hudson I could

see him playing his character still which would

be a nice homage to Prime yes but I mean I'm

almost willing to bet money that that's what

they're gonna do now that you mentioned the whole

United universe thing Yeah, because that would

give them a fresh start without really giving

them a fresh start The other thing that would

screw them is where's Megatron Yeah, I mean cuz

he bludgeoned his head in the last one instead

of letting him go Yeah, like they planned to

in the book anyway and one of the earlier scripts.

I don't know... Is Nimoy retired? Nimoy is retired.

The only reason he did it is because he's related

by a marriage to Michael Bay. He's fully retired.

He's done. Yeah, I know. Damn it. They're gonna

get Shatner to play the villain. I will kill

you! God, no. Damn it, because I... I saw Dark

of the Moon when we did our little episode about

it, but I haven't watched it since. I haven't

actually purchased Dark of the Moon on media

since seeing it in theaters. And I forgot that

Megatron is technically dead. And the reason

why I asked you about Nimoy was... Galvatron.

Yeah, I don't think Bay is going to use Galvatron,

but that would be kind of awesome. I could see

them physically bringing him back as Galvatron

at this point in time. I don't know, I mean,

it would be cool if they did. Or having a second

bot that's called Galvatron that's, you know,

Megatron's long lost brother or something, because

you know they're going to make it a brother thing.

The only reason, and I know this didn't happen

in the G1 series because it was Welker in Season

3, but the only reason why I would want Galvatron

in Transformers 4 and have Nemo... Nemo. Nemo.

Jesus Christ. Find Nemo! This is not a Vixar

movie. Have Nemoi voice him is because in Season

3 there was an episode of G1 where... No, it

was the Plague, the Hate Plague episode. Where

Optimus... You know was alive again and came

back and and He actually you know teamed up with

Galvatron and yes as I said, I know that wasn't

Nimoy's voice But it would be cool in Transformers

4 if it was Peter Cullen Peter Cullen and Leonard

Nimoy as Optimus in Galvatron. You know, I'm

just spitballing ideas here. Don't take... listeners,

fans, don't take any of this to heart. I'm just,

you know, wondering how they're going to, you

know, put a Decepticon leader there unless, you

know, they do something with Starscream, which

I don't think will happen. But... I don't know.

I'm cautiously optimistic about Transformers

4, but at the same time, the only Transformers

news outside of the anniversary that I'm paying

attention to is Transformers Prime. I do not

care about anything else in the current state

of the franchise. When the movie comes out, I'll

go see it. I'll like it or hate it. Whatever

happens, happens. So yeah, those are my overall

thoughts. Trying to think if there's anything

else Oh, I guess we'd never really talk I don't

think we ever talked about it in episode 27.

Oh we got a Email oh did we okay? Say there for

one second. I don't know if we ever talked about

in episode 27 the The mp13 My idea is finally

coming to fruition masterpiece sound wave With

cassettes. Yes! You know what's sad? People have

been modding Masterpiece 01 Optimus Prime into

Soundwave for years. Yeah, I know. But the thing

is, like... And I know you have MP... Well, you

have MP01, don't you? Yes. I bought it at Target.

68 bucks. Boom! And it's still on my shelf. You

know, and I've said this before, and I'll say

it again. I'm pretty much out of the toy collecting,

but if I was going to have just my favorite Transformers

characters, I would go out and get, when they

get released, I would go out and get MP13, the

new Masterpiece Soundwave, and MP11, I think

it's MP11, the updated version of Optimus. Well,

I would love to have an MP04, which is the MP01

with the trailer. Those MPs are just way too

damn expensive. They just are. But no, I've seen

nothing but good stuff when it comes to the newer

versions of MP11 and MP13. But email, we got

an email. What email? I'm not sure if we got

any iTunes. I haven't checked for that lately,

but... No, we haven't. I checked it the other

day. Okay, um, this is actually old. Whoops.

Sorry. Which, I apologize. I'm sorry. It just

haven't done that many episodes. At the time,

it was in June, almost July. Whoops. John Powers

sends to us, he says, hello, just listened to

a podcast, episode 24, and enjoyed it. I've been

looking for a good Transformers podcast. The

last one I tried, I'm not saying the name because

I don't want to be mean, was okay, but the hosts

had the same problem that a lot of podcasts have

or podcast hosts have. They think they're funny

when they aren't. I like a podcast that stays

on topic and doesn't stray from the material

too far or too often. He says I grew up with

transformers, and I'm now just getting back into

them It was shocking to hear that the TF fan

community is as bad as you say quite disappointing

keep up the good work, John Yes, thank you for

the email. Sorry. It's so time -delayed we did

the Did the TF con releases and then I think

we did one more after that or maybe before I

think 25 was before TFCon. Yeah, 25 was before

TFCon. 26 and 27 were TFCon. Yeah, so we didn't

mention it in those because it was TFCon. So

again, sorry and hope that you finally like the

fact that it's in here. And I have to correct

myself really quickly. I have to correct myself.

MP11 is the Starscream coronation. It's MP10.

That's the optimus. I'm sitting here looking

on BBTS making sure that my information is accurate.

And I believe it's the Toys R Us version that

is about to be released because the current MP10

Masterpiece Convoy Optimus Prime with trailer

and pilot new mold is in stock at BBTS for 300

bucks. But I believe the Toys R Us version has

not been released yet. Nice. So um anything else

Nope, I think that's it already. Uh, yes, and

hopefully we'll be back at least one or two more

times before Christmas I'm hoping Depending on

the topic I I'm thinking we'll probably devise

a topic for the next one and then if there is

a little bit of news Maybe talk about it. It

just depends on what kind of pertinent news it

is Because as Mike mentioned earlier, we don't

really talk about the news unless it's something

we care about. We're not going to sit there and

go, oh, Shia tripped on his shoelace and smacked

his nose into the pavement, or a police car crashed

into Bumblebee, or just random stuff that has

nothing to do with what people actually care

about. It's just stuff that happens that ultimately

doesn't matter. Yes. So yeah, we'll be back with

something like that in the future instead of

lackluster information Well the whole point of

episode 28 the reason why I wanted to do it was

because of the anniversary just coming up So

that was really our topic this time around plus,

you know the Stan Bush the remix stuff You know,

that was really the the whole genesis of this

episode. Yes. That was the key reason for wanting

to do it. Yes so So with that I will close it

out. If you have or would like to leave feedback
