Hello and welcome to the 22nd episode of the
TFG1 Podcast. I am your host TFG1 Mike and I
am joined by Steve Megatron and Michael Wilson.
Hello guys. Hey how's it going? Cheers. Yeah
and we're also joined by Beast Wars Megatron.
Cheers. And the brain. Yes! Oh god that was a
very bad impression of the brain. You are not.
Maurice Lamar. Alright, this has been recorded.
What is today's date? I don't even know. It's
Thursday, July 16th 2009. Yes, this is in stereo.
We are back with episode 22 after being delayed
a week thanks to Mr. Wilson over there. You are
so throwing me out of the bus on this, aren't
you? Yes, I am very much so. Yes. Yes. Why don't
you explain to everybody what that quote unquote
conference was that you went to last week that
you couldn't record? We went to the National
Childhood Apraxia of Speech Conference. It was
a two -day deal and we talked with and learned
from speech therapists about childhood apraxia
of speech It's very interesting and educational
and you know, we actually went there and stayed
in the resort and They found out that it was
our fifth year anniversary. So they bumped this
up to the honeymoon suite Very cool. It's awesome
Excellent. What else has been going on with you,
Mr. Wilson this week? Recently, I got Energon
Omega Sentinel. Oh no, we didn't talk about that.
I think I mentioned that in the as of yet unreleased
episode 22 intro. Actually, that intro you're
talking about, this has been done to it. Deleted!
I had to clear space, so it's gone. I deleted
it on my end, too. I didn't think we would end
up using it. No. But I did mention it at that
time. But yeah, I was excited about it then.
I'm excited about it now. I managed to find the
Superion combiner at Target, the repaint. I'm
real excited about that. Is that a movie figure
or is that something else? It's a movie figure,
but it doesn't exist. Exactly. It's a movie figure.
It doesn't exist. It's a repaint from Energon.
Superior superior on Maximus. Okay Yeah, so and
I will go last. So what have you been up to this
week? Mr. Megatron? Yes It's an all you have
to say Have you done anything yours? Okay. Well
good years Yeah, I got the GI Joe and transformer
things from shout factory which I've plugged
in numerous episodes thus far. Yes. And I'm in
process of reviewing. I still have to watch,
but I'm just going to review what I can get out
of the case and all that for now. And then I'll
probably give away the more than meets the eye
disk. Yeah, we can do that in some sort of contest,
but I would like to just because I haven't seen
it in so long I would like to see the GI Joe
stuff. So whenever you're done send it my way
It's all on YouTube no, no, no screw you I think
it would be cool to see the extras. Yeah We do
we do need go ahead I was going to say, if the
G .I. Joe stuff is nearly as nice as the stuff
that they're going to put out for the Transformers
stuff, then it would be worth listening or watching
just for that. Yes, I think all that they have
sent us so far is the bare bones, more than Transformers,
more than meets the eye disc, and the G .I. Joe
Season 1 .1 set. They did not send us the complete
series stuff. No, but they also sent... the mass
device, which is the first five episodes ever
of G .I. Joe. Cool. And we should give a huge
shout out to Shout Factory and Dana for allowing
Steve to get this stuff. This is super cool.
I didn't think we'd ever, you know, become since
obviously TFG1 is part of the GeekCast radio
network. I didn't think we'd ever become, you
know, something that gets review copies of stuff.
So that was really awesome. You've now hit the
big time. Yes. That's very cool. Also hit the
big time in another way, even though off air
Mr. Wilson disagrees. We are now members of the
Twig crew, which is exciting for us, I guess.
It is a cross -promotional agreement. Yes, yes,
yes. We're not going to get into the logistics
of that, and I will be plugging some Twig stuff
at the end of the show today. Me, I've had a
rough week. If everybody has listened to, well,
by the time this airs, hopefully everyone will
listen to Tooncast episode 7. In that episode,
I was basically bitching and moaning that my
bank account was negative such and such dollars
because of fucking eBay taking out their fees
automatically, and I didn't know it was set up
for automatic takeout. That has since been cleared
up. I'm fine. I don't have to sell any of my
BotCon toys I was like I was like scrambling
I was getting ready to sell BotCon Rodimus, which
is one of my favorite toys And don't even bring
up the fact about the $20 issue you posted on
Twitter you bastard Yeah Without that was directed
toward me. So yeah, exactly. I had said, you
know, don't go giving him away for 20 bucks But
you know, it has precedent with you. Yeah, whatever
anyways So we've had a lot of releases as of
late just this week. We've had this past Saturday
We had M wires premiere episode with the back
to the future with Steve snowball sailor We've
had toy cast episode 6 Decepticon randomness
and then tune cast episode 7 silver hawks That's
pretty much what's going on with us. Do you guys
have anything else you'd like to share in the
general chat? And silence I'm thinking bird because
you had Twitter Actually I was thinking it's
been a long time since I've seen silver hawks
that might be worth watching again. Yeah Did
remember I you know, I did go to YouTube and
I watched like the first three episodes but because
Kevin and I'm Michael's over at Tooncast we have
a Running gag of arguing of which one's better
Thundercats or Silver Hawk because they were
both done by the same production companies Yeah,
very similar I do remember watching Silver Hawk's
I don't remember it as much as say Thundercats
Transformers He -Man stuff like that But I did
remember it and I and I did enjoy it Okay. Even
though I don't have the DVD as of yet, if anyone
would like to donate it, they can email me at
TheFG1Podcast at gmail .com. I have vague memories
of them, you know, pulling musical instruments
out of their ass. That was bluegrass, yes. Okay,
yeah, and I don't really remember it all that
well, but they were all, it was kind of like
Thundercats, except they were made out of metal
and they were all bird themed. Yeah, it was partly
metal, partly real, and they were all hawk themed,
yes. Why did he have to be named? uh... bluegrass
we're going to be green grass kissy played a
banjo see yes so well no it pulled out of his
ass well this year this year call them blue ass
or something point god but i don't think that
would have gotten past the fcc or the mpa or
whatever regularly and an extra ass it wouldn't
be a here it is If it weren't for the fact that
my wife's sleeping, I would do my Cobra Commander
impersonation, but... Is it too loud to wake
her up? Yes. I was doing it at work. Be very,
very quiet. I'm hunting wabbits. I'm hunting
wabbits. Don't let my wife wake up. Bluegrass
wabbits. Bluegrass wabbits. I'm hunting in the
bluegrass for the wabbits. Christ and on that
us full of surprises. Hey, no problem. I'm just
glad you guys helped prepare Lazy Sue. She looks
almost as pretty as you. Captain Fairborn, we
just got word from the EDC vault. Those crits
we took from the Quintessons, they're gone. Dirk,
you didn't. All right, we are gonna talk about
money is everything first and according to the
booklet the synopsis says Shut up, I can find
it for crazy Money is everything, this episode
was written by Carla and Jerry Conway. Dirk Manus,
a dashing scoundrel of a space traitor, is under
attack by Terra Con leader Hun Gar. Marissa Fairborn
of Earth Defense Command and the Technobots save
Dirk, but soon discover he is in communication
with the Quintessons, the five -faced villains,
want the re -creator, a matter alteration ray
gun from Dirk. Will he sell out the Autobots
and his own species for profit and adventure?
First of all these first two episodes suck balls
in my opinion. That's my overall opinion of them
I don't like either one of money is everything
or face of Nijika just because They're not as
good as some of the other episodes. As it was
said earlier, this episode starts with Dirk getting
shot down by the Terracons. He is a free trader.
You pay him and he'll tell you what you want
to know. Marissa is smitten by him but doesn't
trust him. Dirk is not honest. What? What? Doesn't
trust him. He's like, trust me through the whole
damn episode. How could you not trust a guy like
that? Yes, really. Do you want to give your opinion
on what you told me off -air about Dirk who he
is or who he's supposed to represent? Oh Yeah,
yeah, of course. Dirk is Dirk is part Han Solo
and part Lando Calrissian He's a he's the dirty
scoundrel, but at the same time he's like you
truly belong amongst us here in the clouds Dirk
is not honest with Fairborn and she finds out
that he is gonna lead the Technobots into a trap
Fairborn finally gets free and she and the other
Technobots go after the traitor and find that
he's fighting off the Taracons. The traitor and
the quints double and triple cross each other
and the Sharktacons go after them. I do have
to give him credit, even though I don't like
the character of Dark Manus, I do have to give
him credit with tricking the Quintessons because
it's not that often that anyone tricks the Quintessons.
They got it all planned out too well. Manus double
-crosses the Autobots in Fairborne, or so it
would seem, and he uses the Recreator to heal
the Technobots' injuries. The Quints send the
Terracons after the Technobots. After the Terracons
are defeated on Earth, Marissa tells Dirk that
they don't pay rewards and everything when Lightspeed
comes up and tells her that someone stole the
creds that they took from the Quintessons. But
she double crosses him with mimic dust as his
reward in the episode ends It's like this should
be a drinking game every time somebody double
crosses somebody else you have to drink Oh, yeah,
it's like oh wait that he just double -crossed
fairborn take a drink. Oh wait What the quintessence
just double -crossed him you take a drink. Oh
wait, but he just double -crossed by the end
of the episode you're on the floor What do you
have any thoughts on this Steve like I Don't
remember much of this episode because I didn't
really care for it. I can't sit through it I
can't either, but I did anyway just for the sake
of having you have to you run the show Well,
yeah, but this beside the point. It's not like
it had a blur and wheelie in a nebula cloud or
something Oh Christ we're not getting into what
kind of nebula cloud they're in They're in their
own bodily fluid nebula cloud Do you have any
that this was very much a computron episode.
Oh, yeah Yeah, well in a sense. Well, I should
say the Dirk Manias and and Marissa Fairborn
were the you know lead characters but this was
probably one of the first times since their inception
that all of the technobots actually got Show
off their own personalities. Yeah, they got good
screen time. Yeah purpose Yeah, well, I think
the idea was we got some more toys and they all
need their own individual personalities So we
all get to know them a little bit better throughout
You know the episode yes, let's be honest who
wants to own a drone I Mean if it's a scramble
city drone, I'll buy it. I don't care Was gonna
say I'm sure Michael has about 5 ,000 drones
in that closet of his that he has yet to clean
out Do they come alive at night like anything
in the cupboard? That's why I keep locks on all
the cabinets just I just hope for one day that
Megatron wakes up Well, that's already got you
one prime so He's not gonna be able to keep Megatron.
Masterpiece. Masterpiece. Anyways. The other
thought I had was the Terracons. They each had
a speaking role as well, but it wasn't as if
they delved too deeply into their personalities
like they did with the Computron. No, not at
all. I mean, Abominus' main thing is, I must
crush Computron. That's pretty much it, so. Yeah.
What were you going to say, Steve? I was going
to say, don't you love it when they have really
crappy dialogue like that? Yeah, pretty much.
Like all the robots are supposed to be dumb and
brooding and Yeah, they're just it's retarded.
You mean like this Like that but worse They don't
even taste it they just like inhale it Was it
crunchy? I don't know you have any other thoughts
on the plot Michael that about covers it for
You know, the synopsis. Alright, we're gonna
move into our thoughts. Alright, now it is our
time for our thoughts on, uh, what the hell is
this episode? Oh yeah, money is everything. Uh,
so what'd you think? I liked it. You liked this
episode? You know what, I dig Dirk Maness. I
think that, uh, I think that he would have made
a cool recurring character if there had been.
Season four aside from just rebirth. It would
have been neat to see him come back Just to put
the moves on Marissa Fairborn all over again
And even at the end she's like I've got a feeling
he'll be back It's like yeah, I know you got
a feeling you're gonna go rub one out. Oh I didn't
I didn't start this one. So don't even I'm not
even going there, but he's the one that started
it racy things on this show so I have to admit
I'm a little jealous because I got a thing for
Marissa yeah I think it it didn't really kick
in until the kiss play came out and then you
could see her in her little bikini but after
that it's like oh Marissa yeah okay other than
your boogling over Marissa do you have any other
relevant thoughts to the episode? Just some of
the personalities that they gave to the Computron
crew, like Strafe and Afterburner, are just so
incredibly hot -headed. They're just like, I
just want to kill everything that moves, show
me some action. And I don't really feel that
that's appropriate for the Technobots, considering
that they all combine into this giant, emotionless
thinking or super -intelligent you know, thinking
machine. Well see, I think that balances it though.
They all individually have personalities that
differ from the just mundane, monotone, computron
voice type deal. And then you take that monotone
voice and then you deepen it. Yeah, well... Yeah,
when you put it that way, that they balance each
other out, because light speed and nose cone
are the calm, let's talk about this, let's see
how things are going to play out. And then their
leader is kind of like in the middle. Probably
leaning toward hot headed, but more middle -ish.
So yeah, that makes sense that when they all
combine, they kind of even each other out to
the monotone, not really. you know betraying
any emotion voice yes very much so um what else
you got for notes uh you know i was having too
much fun checking out demarissa again so i don't
have a whole lot of notes here all right so just
just the star wars comparisons yeah between uh
you know dirk and i mean dirk is ripped right
out of star wars oh no doubt yeah the luke oh
wait i meant the force is strong with this one
i said the luke Fuck up! We'll fix that in post.
Wait, wait, wait. No, we won't fix it in post.
Wait, go back. Do that again, Steve. That one
sounds even less like Beast Wars Megatron. I
don't know, he was supposed to be doing Yoda
there. It didn't even sound like Yoda. That was
Yoda! Didn't sound like Yoda. Yeah, that was
Yoda. Dude, it sounded good. Anyways, we're moving
on to the next episode Perceptor's last communication
originated here in the mountains, just outside
the city of Tosin. Charter guns! You will proceed
to these coordinates and retrieve the Autobot
Perceptor. Is that clear? Who asked, I'd answer.
Mechika, I bring you a gift. Your own countenance.
The face of Nijiga. I sense danger, Sky Dancer.
I will be back. If not for this one lousy, rotten,
measly, crummy, substandard strut, we'd be outta
here! You know that, I know that, cause that'd
get us outta here! Wham, zip, intercar mode,
zoom, push, gone, we'll never have to think about
- Go find Perceptor. You fix him, maybe he can
fix me. I'm not sure we should leave him. I'm
not sure we have any choice. Tell me more about
these devils. It was long ago that they came.
In the days when our city of Pozin itself shone
bright as a star, and our guardian, Koduri, had
not yet descended into slumber, my ancestor,
Nikodon, had invented a flying tower. The Zamorgen
people will take their first step to the stars.
I wished to ride the tower myself, but Ivaris
would not allow it. So, Nikodan has also created
our... of Koduri. Alright, we are - moving on
to the next episode which is the face of Nijika
and of course according to the booklet this episode
was written by Mary Screens and Steve Skeets
okay I wonder if they're married Wow that's that's
ironic and weird anyway battling over a quadrant
locked disk Autobot Decepticon and Quintesson
forces cross a rip in space and become trapped
there uh... landing on the planet zimojian zimojian
yeah i think that's how you say it an inhabitant
named caduceus yeah i don't know whatever i wrote
all this down too because i didn't forget good
well no it's not that i forget i'm reading it
right here in the book i can't fucking pronounce
it moves perceptors autobot i think that's supposed
to be signal and uses it as the head and face
for an ancient robot named It's actually ninjika
wait this no, it's nishika. No it in here. It
says the face of ninjika Oh, they pronounce it
nijika. Well, yeah, I know I don't know Explaining
it resembles the missing face of this broken
defender But what is Quenna sans connection to
the hidden planet and why do they fear ninjika?
I guess I'll go into the synopsis notes that
I have This episode obviously is a Perceptor
one -shot. The Autobots and Cyclonus get transported
through a warp that the Quints have opened. We
find out that the warp that the Autobots passed
through was a quadrant lock halting the people
of the planet that they landed on and getting
to the stars. These primitive people think that
the Quints are devils, but with Perceptor's universal
emulator in the Ninjica face, comes through as
the voice of the robot. The primitives have Blur
hanging above the lava pit and Cyclonus and Quint
have joined the crowd. When Perceptor is Ninjika
appears and explains everything however this
doesn't work at first until the Autobots show
up. The Quints are defeated and Perceptor is
restored to his body. The planet stars return
to it in the episode ends. I really didn't really
care for this one at all, I don't know why, I
just didn't enjoy it. Even though the animation
is, it's pretty good, I just didn't like the
story. I do have to bring this up, I should have
gone back and grabbed the audio, I didn't, but
this episode marks the only time throughout this
entire series, well, since the beginning of the
third season, since Blair was introduced in the
movie, that he actually talks normal without
Speed talking. Oh He was in pain. I know he was
in pain, but I Don't know he's like ow. Ow. At
least you didn't get turned into a cube Derek
J Wyatt He was very close though. Yes. It's also
mercy only episode where blur has an orgasm Okay,
I'm not going there. What? No, yeah, I'm really
really surprised you didn't record it Not going
you see his bottom spatters. Yeah, his bottom
spasming. I'm not there was pelvic thrusting
involved. Oh Perceptor was in front. Oh They
have blur hanging over the the lava pit and they
drop a minute and He's he's working out the kinks
literally, especially in his foot He's he's you
know, his foot suddenly is healing basically
in the lava and while he's in there. He's making
these noises This sound a lot like somebody who's,
you know, getting their rocks off there. He's
like, oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Uh -huh. There it is.
There it is. And I'm thinking, yeah, you know,
he's really enjoying himself. And sounds an awful
lot like an orgasm. Oh, my God. All right. Do
you have any other thoughts on the actual plot?
The plot? Yes. One thing that I noticed is that
the Zemojin were civilized and on their way to
what the Trekkies would call first contact. They're
all ready to put their first astronaut in a spaceship,
Nijuka, and send the little tiny Nijuka Geisha
doll out into space. But then the Quenissans
come along and they literally hobbled their evolution.
By putting them in this quadrant lock so that
they they they're blocked off from the stars.
Yes and You know, so they've you know crippled
their evolution They they're no longer on their
way to becoming a space -faring species and they
literally regress Into the savages that you see
when the Autobots first land they're like space
Mongols at that point, you know and Mongols in
a sense of like Angus Khan So basically the last
episode was all about Star Wars ripoffs this
one's all about Star Trek ripoffs Well To be
fair first contact wasn't even a term until much
much later You get that I don't think there were
any 40 foot tall space models in Star Trek Not
to my knowledge not mine either But that was
something that I had picked up on that was like,
wow, this is really interesting that this emotion
where literally on their way to their first journeys
into the stars, almost I want to say on par with
our civilization now, where we're just now venturing
past our own atmosphere and kind of moving on
toward Mars and such. Communicate with our giant
Buddha statue and we'd all revert back to savages
Or you know more to the point you take away our
electricity and suddenly we'd all revert back
to savages It'd be like Mad Max and we'd be pummeling
each other with baseball bats with nails in them
for the tiniest bit of gasoline You have any
thoughts on the plot Steve no, I don't like this
episode He probably didn't even watch it. No,
but I don't like it anyway. Anything that doesn't
center around my favorite villains or heroes
I don't like, pretty much. So I guess that means
he didn't watch the next episode we're going
to be talking about. It's like Mike is saying,
all these episodes suck ass because they don't
have Prime. Oh, but wait, he's coming back. I
only thought the next episode was alright. Yeah,
Burden Horde is pretty good, but I mean these
two are just like throwaways. Yeah, they're just
filler. I guess we're gonna move on to our thoughts,
because do you have any notes for this, Ms. Olsen?
Because if you don't, we're gonna straight move
on to the next episode and say screw our thoughts.
Heck yeah, I got thoughts. Alright, so we're
gonna move on to our thoughts. All right, we're
gonna move into our thoughts and Steve I have
no thoughts on this episode. So take it away.
Mr. Wilson. That's right. I will carry you guys
on my shoulders That's time somebody. Oh, thank
you show besides me. Oh One thing I picked up
on here early on was the writers the writing
team the married team Living in sin perhaps,
but they have the same last name Don't have the
same last name it's Mary screens and Steve skeets.
Oh, it just sounds like they have the same. Yes,
so they are living in sin Anyway, what it come
down to is it sound like they they really? Wanted
to come up with their own language There's a
lot of words here that pop up that we've never
heard before like a quadrant lock a universal
emulator The this emoji and are all stuck in
quadrant X It's like what's that worth? Where
is they they pulling this out of their ass from?
Yeah, I mean it's interesting it would it would
be neat if if maybe These terms got picked up
in the genre and later on down 20 years down
the road somebody says ah The whole planet was
trapped in a quadrant X lock, you know something
along those lines But you know, I've never heard
them before universal emulator You know kind
of is a common term kind of or I should say the
trickiest use universal translator But so again
this first episode today was a Star Wars ripoff
and this one was a Star Trek ripoff Well, no,
not at all. I mean the fact that they called
it a universal emulator Yeah, well doesn't sound
very very Star Trek like at all I mean it's like
they were trying to come up with their own language
and hoping that it got picked up so that You
know 20 years down the road they can say. Oh,
yeah screens and skeets coined to the term universal
emulator back in 1986 It was interesting, you
know, but but I just wasn't really sure where
they were coming up with all this stuff from
yeah probably the same place they pull out the
The other thing I've noticed is that Perceptor's
whole personality is in his insignia. The quote
-unquote universal emulator is his personality
chip. They tear off the face out of his chest
and suddenly his body is no longer Housing his
his soul. Let's say it's in it's in the insignia
and then they just plug the insignia into the
geisha and It's a it suddenly becomes perceptor
Hmm. Yeah, I guess I don't know this is one of
those weird episodes as we've said a second ago
It's pretty much a one -shot. Yeah, but I think
if by this point they've already established
Well, maybe not I want to say they've already
established the spark chamber Unless you're talking
about the Matrix bear, probably not. Oh, so maybe
that came in Beast Wars. Yes, that came in Beast
Wars. So that's what I would assume is like the
insignia is almost like the front of the spark
chamber, and you yank that puppy out, which he
did surprisingly easily. Yes, very much so. Yeah,
I mean granted, you know human beings keep their
their entire stock intelligence in their skull
Which is easily removed from the rest of the
body If you were a robot and could configure
yourself in any way shape or form You would think
that you would want to put it somewhere a little
less easy to pull out You know, I'd want to keep
it. Well, yeah, I guess you'd want to keep it
right in your chest. I Don't know I'm just saying,
you know You think that was so many dirty thoughts
running through my head right now I can't even
I can't even mention any of them because they're
so vulgar. It's not even fun That's right. I
keep my brain in my crotch. I curl up in a fetal
position. I'm protecting it What else do you
have for this episode that reminds me Johnny
gets your gun the black and white movie They
mentioned that you know the soldiers a lot of
times the only part that's recognizable after
a bomb hits them in the foxhole is their groin
because they curl up in a fetal position which
is basically a position that protects the groin
and Your head blows off your arms blow off and
you get massive burning over 90 % of your body
What does that have to do with this episode?
I'll just say it if you're gonna keep your personality
somewhere the safest place to have it would be
on your crotch Again as I've said in almost every
episode now the DFG one podcast and the geocast
radio network are not Responsible for anything
Michael Wilson says on these podcasts All right
fine. Do you have any other relevant thoughts
to this episode? Let me go out on the list here
Weird words that they made up space Mongols blurs
orgasm Yeah, one more thing. Mm -hmm. You have
this race people who are basically xenophobic
they're worried about devils coming out of the
sky and yet in the back of the crowd is a forty
foot tall cyclonus and a quinazan who is in fact
one of their devils sitting in the back of the
crowd saying bad him he's a witch and nobody
notices yeah i thought that was a little dumb
that was just a little dumb bad plot hole it
was a huge plot hole You know, hey, we got -
we got, uh, Perceptor Geisha out of it. You have
any, uh, thing to add, Steve? No. You have nothing
to add to this discussion? No. Okay then, we're
gonna move on to the next episode. What's eatin'
you? I don't know, Cup. I feel... boxed in. Like
the weight of the world rests on your shoulders?
Yeah. Like you wanna run away? And how? The responsibilities.
Hey, Rotomus! We've got a problem! Earth Defense
Command needs... Not you too! Gimme a break,
will ya? Since when am I the only one who can
solve everybody's problems? But... but you...
Just leave me alone! What's with him? Giri. Giri?
Japanese word. It means the burden hardest to
bear. Alright, up next is Burden Hardest to Bear.
And according to the booklet, this episode is
written by Michael Charles Hill. Booklet. Shut
up. Rodimus is worn out by his responsibility
as Autobot leader. Shirking his duty, he goes
out for a joyride, but unexpectedly runs into
Dead End and Wild Rider and loses the Matrix,
reverting to his Hot Rod form. The two Stuntacons
bring the Autobot Amulet to Galvatron, who is
overcome by its power and orders Scourge to destroy
it. Will Hot Rod step up to his duty before something
terrible happens to the Matrix? You bastard.
I love this episode. This episode is awesome.
What? It's awesome, dammit. You have to explain
yourself because, you know, as far as I can tell,
it's Rodimus Prime being, once again, the worst
leader ever. And not only is he making bad decisions
and everyone else has to suffer for it, but now
he's totally shirking his responsibilities. He's
like, eh, I don't need it. He throws it away.
Yeah, basically he's like, oh yeah, the entire
race of Autobots, yeah, screw them, fuck them
in their ear. Alright, so this episode starts
out with Autobots and Decepticons fighting throughout
Japan. There's a Japanese training dojo nearby
that almost gets attacked right before the Autobots
arrive to stop the Decepticons. The Imperial
Palace doesn't want the Autobots in Japan because
they're basically destroying everything with
their battling the Decepticons. Rodimus is having
a hard time dealing with his leadership Rodimus
runs off to blow off some steam Cup tells Marissa
what's eating Rodimus and this is where we hear
about the yuri and all that other yuri yeah Rodimus
Rodimus needed some iron seed love and That's
what he really even get me started bastard at
least at least it isn't concerned Springer shut
the fuck up Springer's not involved. Not yet,
man. He's gotta get his gear -y on. Oh, God.
Optimus Prime, who could live up to him? So anyway,
Marissa tries to talk to Erotimus. Dead end and
wild riders show up because they're spying on
the Autobots. They begin a race with Erotimus.
They ambush him. They damage him while this happens.
Erotimus loses the Matrix. Galvatron puts the
Matrix inside himself thinking that he can use
the power the Autobot leaders come out of his
gun and tell him to return it. Galvatron gives
the Matrix to Scourge and tells him to destroy
it. Scourge then possesses the Matrix because
he believes it is ultimate power and it corrupts
him, obviously, because everybody that has ultimate
power gets corrupted. Absolute power corrupts.
Absolutely. Yes, exactly. For real. No doubt.
For reals, lolz. God. Let's not go into internet
lingo. Oh my god, what the fuck barbecue? Shut
the fuck up! He then attacks Galvatron and begins
a revolt on the other Decepticons. Only Galvatron
leads! That was a quote from the episode when
Cyclonus said something stupid to Galvatron.
It's kind of like the whole thing of, you know,
you keep going back to the, what was it, Gary,
not Gary Shanley, Gary Oldman thing. Everyone!
Yeah, we're not rolling there. I can't do either
of them. Yeah, so after damaging Galvatron and
Cyclonus, Scourge leads the other Decepticons
to Earth to destroy the Autobots. Hot Rod, okay,
well, we shouldn't mention that after... And
I didn't grab this but I should have anyway,
um After they find Rodimus slash hot rod and
they put him back on the on the table at Autobot
City He wakes up and they're all like he's like,
what are you all staring at? It's like you've
seen a ghost Magnus puts his hand on his shoulder.
We have hot rod. Well, yeah, I felt something
was missing. You no longer possess the matrix
He knew it yeah, it's like It's not How do you
feel or you know what's going on? It's like you
would think the first thing they would do is
Smack him upside the head and say what the fuck
you totally lost Nine million years worth of
Autobot wisdom. We don't have these things growing
on trees We've only got one and you what dropped
it on the side of the road I thought it was a
penny So, after Rodimus gets fed up, he heads
off and goes back to the same dojo that was going
to get attacked, thinking about what he must
do. Of course, the Sensei talks to him and he
realizes that he has a lot to think about while
the Decepticons are still heading to attack the
Earth. Since they calls him a giant puss. Yeah
Hot Rod shows up actually the Decepticons have
shown up and they're attacking everybody scourge
with the matrix is going after the The human
man and the old woman the man was one of the
dojo students And he realizes that scourge possesses
the matrix and he takes it back from him Rodimus
is back and leaves just before Galvatron and
cyclonus get to scourge And when Galvatron and
Cyclonus get discouraged, they won't fuck him
up. And the episode ends with Rodimus telling
the others of his realization. Do we have any
thoughts on the actual plot of this episode that
are somewhat positive? I like negativity. It's
all freaking negative. I thought it was cool.
How the whole episode is in general it actually
was pretty decent considering Rodimus has been
basically Was the entire Season yeah, and it
showed him actually, you know Get to being more
of a leader than just a bitching whining brat.
Yeah Just in time to not be the leader anymore.
Yeah just in time and said that he bled that
long being a complete fuckup and now he's finally
getting it in his head oh maybe i shouldn't be
such a fuckup maybe i should live up to my potential
and not let down the entire civilization what
did you say steve he's a little bitch god he
needs us spanking you rotamous haters i don't
know i did Okay, I didn't say you hated it myself
so we have one at least I I was wondering as
far as synopsis Galvatron gets the matrix and
he tries to put in this chest he tries to use
it You know and this is you know, the second
time he's tried to use it, you know first time
being like in the movie It didn't work this time
either But, you know, he hands it to Scourge,
Scourge puts it in his chest, and he becomes
Scourgimus Prime. Scourgimus Maximus. Scourgimus
Maximus, our Scourgimus Prime. It makes me wonder,
though, what if Galvatron stuffed it in his chest
and it worked? What if we end up with Galvimus
Prime? I mean, he couldn't get much crazier.
Oh, Christ. He would have become Unicron, a big
Galva Unicron, and he would have reverted back
to Megatron form. That would have been cool.
That would have been cool. Because the power
of the Matrix would have reverted the Unicron
power used on him to turn him into Galvatron
so that he would have become Megatron. Yes. You
fuckers just want Megatron back, that's all it
is. Of course! Who doesn't want Megatron back?
Me, dammit! Galvatron's much better. Oh please,
Galvatron is... You know, Galvatron is not a
very good leader. Flamer he's he's purple Hey,
where is Bernie? Where is G1 Megatron? You know
he he he had a lot of trouble getting his Plans
to work in which case they never really worked
But at least he had plans and whose fucking fault
was that it was Starscream's fault that his plans
didn't work half the time In many cases. Yeah,
but I mean in this case, you know, if Galvatron
had used the matrix Scourge went crazy insane
He just went batshit crazy. But I mean, Galvatron's
not going to get much crazier. He's already pretty
much batshit. And if he became even more powerful,
that would put him on par probably with, well,
probably Optimus at this point. Because Rodimus
is now Hot Rod again. Hot Rodimus is an easily
whippable ass. I will whip your ass, boy. Let's
not go there. And we've already discussed Galvatron's
madness in fucking Webworld, so we're not going
back to that episode, either. Yeah, it's already
safe to say he's pretty well crazy. And, you
know, you could argue that, oh, he had a plan
in Rebirth, or he comes up with a plan in Rebirth,
but honestly, I don't think Rebirth was very
well written. I don't think Galvatron should
have had a plan. We'll get to that next week.
Yeah, yeah, of course. He went cuckoo for Cocoa
Puffs. Oh, Christ. Continuously. Overall, between,
you know, seeing as how these are, you know,
burden hardest to bear, and then the return of
Optimus two -parter, the last three episodes
of season three, I am glad that they kind of
intersect to each other, even though they start
off, like, this one starts off as a one -shot,
and then the return of Optimus part one starts
off as a one -shot, but it kind of brings up
everything that went into Um burden hardest to
bear almost and I and I did like that. I mean
overall I Mainly because it's a hot rod slash
Rodimus episode. I like burden hardest to bear
So, I don't know. Do we have any other thoughts
on the actual plot? No, okay. We're gonna go
on to our thoughts then It's time for our thoughts
on the burden hardest to bear uh... me personally
because you know i don't know it's i'd just remember
loving this episode mainly because it was a rodham
is episode and they did have a good story behind
it uh... so with the lack of notes you can't
empirically prove that you like this episode
it's going on uh... basic memories of a time
time long long ago when ever so they'll be star
wars fairly possible that you could have forgotten
and made this up Watched it like three days ago.
You dumbass. Are you recreating memories? No
no I'll give you fabrication What did you guys
think of this episode? I guess I guess we'll
let Steve go first seeing as how he didn't say
anything in the first two fucking episodes Yes,
cuz those fucking sucked. Anyways, um, yeah,
I like the episode I like tell Rodimus Decided
to be a bitch and throw away the matrix like
it was a bed penny and then Scourge comes and
picks it up, you know, like, oh, it's a penny.
I need a penny. And so he goes and takes it to
Galvatron. And, you know, Galvatron's scared
of it because, you know, he can't use it. So
Scourge is like, hmm, I guess I'll keep it and
throws it in his chest. And so I like to help
Scourge became Megascourge or Scourge of His
Maximus or whatever the hell you want to call
him and decided that he was going to Basically
kick everybody's ass till it became too powerful
and yeah So overall I like the episode just because
scourge got to play a bigger part Yes, and what
about you over there mr. Wilson I like I like
the dead end and wild writer appearance where
they managed to beat the snot out of Rodimus
Prime. Now, this is two Scramble City combiner
limbs beating the snot out of the leader of the
Autobots. Scramble City didn't exist until after
the show ended, damn it. Well, I could just easily
say just Stalt combiner limbs, but you know,
I think Scramble City combiner limb is a better
description. My favorite part of that app was
the lion. He done blow up real good. And he lost
the matrix. Cause he's a dumbass. It was his
penny. It was his penny. I thought you said bedpan
-y. No. Bedpan -y. It's kinda shaped like a bedpan
with handles. Oh god. That little blue thing
in the center is robo -shit. That's right. Okay,
that's it, that's it. You both get one of these.
HEADSHOT! You need to chat, good son. Some of
the things I liked about this episode was, again,
the counterparts squaring off. You've got Broadside
versus Devastator. You've got Defensor versus
Bruticus. I was really surprised that they didn't
bring out Caputron versus Abominus again, you
know, they just had him recently, but you know,
they had everybody else in there. Yeah. I thought
that would have been neat. And then lastly, I
like the whole sensei thing. They just happened
to be in Japan and Rodimus just happens to get
his head screwed on by a sensei in his dojo.
And I was wondering, you know, what year did
Karate Kid come out? And Karate Kid was 84. So
I'm thinking they were either borrowing heavily
from Karate Kid here, or perhaps the sequel,
which actually took place in Japan, in the dojo.
Yeah, it's probably the sequel. It's Karate Kid
Part II. Waiting for Steve to pop up and tell
us when the sequel came out. Headshot! Karate
Kid. There, you have me now? You found it. The
sequel came out in 86, so yeah. This was probably,
uh, you know, the whole sensei in the dojo thing
was probably directly pulled from Karate Kid
2. And then Karate Kid 3 came out three years
later. No, no, no, no, this is Karate Kid 3,
not... And then they had, and then they had 4
come out in 94. Yes. There was a 3? The 3 was
with the original cast, and then the next Karate
Kid was the fourth one with Hilary Swank. But
anyway, we're... That would be awesome. That's
right, so do we have any final thoughts on the
burden hardest to bear? I got a lot of Gary on
we're not opening that can of worms So that is
all I got for real booyah booyah Every time I
hear that stupid saying, all I can think of is
Ron fucking stoppable. Anyways. Who? Ron. Anyway.
Big Ron stoppable booyah to ya. For real? HEADSHOT!
What did you say? What did you say? No, this
is just a straight up murder. Anyways, we're
moving on to the next episode. This is his fault.
No, Gregory, it was that other Transformer. Optimus
Prime is an Autobot. A good robot. If you don't
want to help me save him, you can stay here.
All robots are alike, Jesse. Why do you insist
on risking your life? We only have five minutes
to get back aboard the Solaris before... Ka -boom!
spores are definitely alive the spores are a
virus that manifest hatred they're trying to
destroy each other it's incredible when we write
our reports reports dad don't you see how crazy
this is get rid of those spores shoot them back
into space if they contaminate people they could
make world war 2 look like a schoolyard brawl
honey I think you're remember we have their leader
we have the body of optimus prime all right next
up is the return of optimus prime part one and
the booklet says this episode was written by
is that an iron l i think it's sherry wilkerson
and marv wolfman which marv actually did the
treatment for beast machines i did not know that
he was included in the original show here until
I actually saw this episode a couple of days
ago, which is kind of cool. Synopsis says, testing
a new heat -resistant metal alloy, human scientist
Jessica Morgan and her partner navigate their
space vessel near a star going nova. Surprisingly,
a nearby ship contains the body of legendary
Autobot leader Optimus Prime, and the two bring
it aboard, revealing that Prime did not perish
at the climax of Dark Awakening. Sometime later
the two Terracons steals the supply of the alloy
from Morgan's father's laboratory on Earth and
Jessica is injured. Vowing revenge on any and
all Transformers, Jessica's father releases space
spores discovered during the Nova experiment
infecting two Decepticons with violent madness.
Soon the hate plague spreads across Earth tainting
Autobot, Decepticon, and human alike. First of
all, it goes without saying yay optimus is back
i mean you know about damn time um and as i just
said in a little synopsis jessica and uh gregory
uh save uh optimus's body when the sun goes nova
their ship is covered with these weird spores
once back at their lab they realized that the
spores create a hate plague uh Gregory and what?
Yeah, basically is what it is Gregory and Jessica's
father Gregory and Jessica's father want the
spores to infect all Transformers They have misconceived
notions about the Autobots Jessica betrays her
father and warns Rodimus about the spores. However,
it's too late for Ultra Magnus and the others
Gregory and dr Morgan set a trap for the Autobots
Rat bat spies on the Autobots mission to save
optimus's body soundwaves voices off in this
episode actually This is one of the episodes
where the vocoder was not used So it was basically
dr. Claw like in the movie anyway I wonder bud
see I was saying I wonder what it whether they
fixed that or not in the New shout factory ones
not sure We'll have to find out from somebody
that's got the whole set Don't think Kevin's
watched his yet. I know he is he and I know he's
got it But and if I have enough money left over
from bills come August 1st, I'm definitely ordering
it I'm a poor bitch. I don't have any money.
Also home for bastard myself. So that's beside
the point Hell we should get mr. Eminem transformer
dispenser over there to get us a couple of sets
and get myself i know i know the decepticons
show up as the plague has broken out rodimus
warns galvatron but the evil doer doesn't believe
him at first he's like i remember this scene
it's a maddened plague galvatron if any of those
red transformers touches you you'll be infected
you're mad you're lying it's a trick stay here
if you want be your you know be your funeral
or something something like that uh... so there
are effective transformers everywhere magnus
is after rodimus but retgar saves him unfortunately
magnus turns retgar and i'm sorry i have to play
this where is it uh... let's see magnus uh...
turns retgar into a pepper as well uh... and
and then uh... good michael I was going to say,
what kills me is everybody since the movie, right?
Anytime anybody's injured, they just wheel in
Rekgar and he fixes them or the junkyards come
in and repair them. Everybody except Optimus
Prime, who they allow to die. We've gone over
this multiple times on and off air. I know, but
what I'm saying here is in this episode, right
when you're just about to have Rekgar fix Optimus
Prime, finally he gets turned into a cootie monster.
Yeah, that's true. It's like, oh, he's red now.
He's got cooties. Don't let him touch you. Like,
oh, man, he was about to get all shiny like everybody
else. So then Rekgar in turn turns Rotimus. To
over to the hateplug as well skylinks gets the
quintesson that Rodimus had demanded he get They
get back to the lab to restore optimus. They
finally get him operational ending this episode
Do we have any overall thoughts on this plot
here? And it was good it's good it's good Yeah,
I have to agree I'll concur there primes alive
finally and now we can cancel the series and
be happy about it. Oh Lord I'm a Sun Transformers
fan be so fucking negative Well, it's like okay,
you know when you've had a really really good
day and it's like this is a good day to die You
know because it can only go downhill from here
That's about what? Well, by the time we get into
the second episode, which we haven't covered
yet, but by the time we get to the end of the
second episode, it's like, OK, Prime is alive
and it's a good day to die. It can only go downhill
from here. And no force in the universe can stop
this. Exactly. As he says a long time ago in
a galaxy far, far away, because he used the force.
Did he? I don't know. I don't know. 28 days.
He went super sane, he turned white. Oh yeah,
that's right. 28 days. 28 days. No, just the
first one. 28 days. The spores, the space spores
kind of work like the rage virus. Yes, zombie
bots. Zombie bots where they all do the red eyes
and they they they run and they run and chase
you They're not like shambling zombies. They're
like running up on your shit and eat me face
You know, the only thing is missing from this
episode is is a shitty thing zombie That but
the Dweller crunchy oh no none of these episodes
have space herpes no no no we are not getting
into that we're not getting into that discussion
again let's just go to our thoughts on this one
because yeah we're not getting into the whole
space herpes thing again so move on to our thoughts
Alright, it is now time for our thoughts on the
return of Optimus Prime part one. So what do
you guys think? Excellent episode Yeah, yeah,
you can't you can't Disparage Optimus Prime no
Peter Cullen's return. Yes. Yeah, no matter how
You know derived it is it's like oh by the way,
he didn't actually die The first time oh and
then he didn't actually fly into the Sun the
second time. We kind of rescued him both times,
and now he's back? I think? The one thing I have
to wonder about this, and I'm sure it's just
because they wanted to be able to... They wanted
to be able to bring him back in pristine condition,
but as we all know, Dark Awakening was the last
time we saw him. And when we saw him in the ship,
going into the sun, he looked like... He wasn't
looking too hot. Well, he looked like shit. He
had an eye popped out, he had an eye overexposed,
half his face was ripped off. Well, that was
the shattered glass version. No, no, no, it wasn't.
And this is the alternate universe. No, no, no,
no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no I don't
know, I thought he said it to the Fallen at the
end, but I don't know, whatever. Anyway, we're
getting off topic. Well, yeah, speaking of that...
No, he says, I rise, you fall. You didn't say,
give me your face? No. One shall stand. One shall
give me your face! Alright, anyway, getting back
on topic here... In your face. Uh, shut the hell
up! Uh... Most humorous episode ever. No, that
was 19. I think 19 so far has been our best episode
yet. Mmm, extra crunchy. What? Was I in that
one? Yeah, duh. Cool, okay. Anyways, so... I'm
funny. Are we gonna actually talk about this
fucking episode? Were the throttle pots introduced
in this episode, or did they appear earlier?
They're introduced after... this they're going
to do the next episode I believe. No they were
just they were in here. Rebirth. No. Oh the Throttlebots
were. The Throttlebots are introduced in part
two because Gold, uh, Bumblebee hasn't been turned
into Goldbug yet. It's after Prime Contact. Right,
but the rest of the Throttlebots. Um, I don't
know. I would assume that this is their first
appearance. Yes. Yes. Well, yeah, you don't actually
see gold bug until later But I think the rest
of them were shown here and I'm pretty sure this
was their first appearance. Yeah the The rage
virus Appears on I don't want to say quintessa,
but it appears on the the quintesson world Because
you've got all these shark decons chasing after
this quintesson It was actually just a random
moon. Quintessa's already been blown up, remember?
That's what I'm saying. I don't want to say Quintessa.
It's not Quintessa, but it's a planet with a
Quintesson on it. With one Quintesson and about
a thousand Sharktocons. Yeah, does he really
need a thousand Sharktocons all to himself, honestly?
But, uh, unless he's feeling a little randy and,
uh... That's how he gets his kicks. So basically
we have this perverted quinazote all alone on
a moon with a thousand charticons who have all
managed it to give themselves VD because they're
running around trying to eat these quinazote.
We've already established that the space spore
virus is a venereal disease. So I'm just gonna
run with this. The unwashed masses being always
the first to spread disease. That's basically
what we have here. Is, uh, you know, the, uh,
the shurikans who live in their own filth. Honestly,
it's like a giant pool. Who knows what they're
doing in there. Uh, and spreading diseases amongst
themselves. Yeah. I think we should start up
a collection. No. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, not at all.
Uh, prevent crotch, crotch mist rust. That's
right. Where is Sally Struthers when you need
her? Oh, good Lord. How did we end up on this
turn again? I don't know. It's probably his fault.
It's all my fault. Did you notice that Rodimus
Prime is a vampire? Yes. He casts no reflection
in the monitor. He can see other people behind
him in the monitor, but he can't see himself
in the monitor. In Prime Super Saiyan? Because
he's the ultimate badass? He is incontaminatable,
if that's a word. Which I created it. He's the
most Otto Botley creation. Otto Botley, that's
my word. It made a comeback, I told you. Don't
call it a comeback, it's been here for years.
Mama said Nike, you out! Alright, I'm done. Yeah,
I got one good episode left in me. Do you have
any other thoughts? That's it. What, you expect
me to think? Well, yeah. I'm carrying this whole
damn thing. Oh, what the fuck ever. Did you have
any thoughts, Steve? Mike? Well, I guess since
Steve hardly ever talks in the episodes anyways.
At least the episodes he actually stays for.
Bitch. I really did. I can make you say anything
I want in post -production, so be quiet. No,
you better not. You better not. I'll kill you.
I thought it was very, very strange. And I'll
bring this up in the next episode, but... You're
still talking? Yes, I'm still talking. Can you
hear me now? Good. uh... i thought it was very
good it but yet strange that they ended right
as optimus is is coming back at first when it
first when i first watched about a couple days
ago when scaling says our leader is back i thought
it was going to end right there i didn't i didn't
remember that optimus sat up and said yes skylinks
i'm back and no force in the universe can stop
me it's very no force not at all that's not even
these doors megatron Well, this is what this
is what Optimus would do to Beast Wars Megatron
Headshot No, I believe Megatron dealt that blow
to Prime He dealt that blow to Ironhide No, Beast
Wars Megatron did it to G1 Prime. Yeah anyway,
oh You have any other thoughts on the return
of Optimus Prime Part 1 before this episode really
goes into a giant rat hole and no one listens
to the show anymore? Let's get to the second
part. Let's get to the second part. Let's get
to the second part. Yeah, we got opinions. Alright,
we're gonna go on to the next episode. How long
have I been gone? Too long. We are all in grave
danger. Tell me all that has happened. It all
started when you were rescued by Jessica Morgan
and Dr. Swofford. Their experimental spaceship
shielded your body when the star went nova. But
their spaceship was covered with solar spores.
Swofford brought you back to his laboratory on
Earth where he and his partner discovered that
the spores induced hate. They sought to infect
your lifeless body with the virus. And when that
failed, they used you to lure the Autobots to
their lab. And there they infected Ultra Magnus
and the others. It was Autobot against Autobot,
and then Decepticon against Decepticon. Even
the Quintessons were not safe from the madness.
I rescued this Quintesson to try to revive you.
That was Rodimus' last instruction before...
Rodimus, what happened to him? I'm afraid that
he has been infected as well. You're our last
hope, Optimus. You rescued me? You? Aquinasan?
I had no choice! The entire galaxy is threatened!
Have any of the Autobots avoided contamination?
Not many. And those that have were injured battling
Superion. They may be damaged beyond repair.
Who? Tell me. Cop and Wheelie, Blur and Steeljaw,
Bumblebee. Then let's find them and get them
into the repair bay. We'll need your help. I'm
finished. They're all restored. I see you're
no worse for wear than I was. Optimus, you're
alive! You're alive! I don't believe this! I
don't believe this! Do you guys believe this?
It's Optimus! Optimus Prime! My gosh, is it really
you? I must be dreaming! No, this is real. I'm
back, and now so are you. Back? I'm better than
ever! Look at this new paint job! I've gone beyond
being just plain old Bumblebee. I'm a gold bug!
That you are, Bumblebee. So from now on, that's
exactly who you'll be. Alright and finally the
last episode of today is the return of Optimus
Prime part 2 and this episode again was written
by Sherry Wilkerson and Marv Wolfman. All hope
is lost the hate plague has spread across the
galaxy. Uninfected Skylinx in a lone quintesson
attempt to resurrect Optimus Prime hoping his
great wisdom can stop this creeping onslaught.
The operation is a success and Prime reasons
he must travel into the Matrix to search for
answers, but the Matrix lies within Rodimus Prime,
yet another victim of the plague. Alright, let's
see, what are my thoughts? This episode starts
off with Optimus coming back to life. Skylinks
fills him in on everything that has been going
on. Optimus has the Quintesson repair the remaining
uninfected Autobots. bumblebee is now gold bug
a fact which dan gilvazan really really hated
he liked playing bumblebee better than gold bug
but i don't see how we could hate that because
um gold bug is only in well it's the same voice
but gold bugs only in two episodes well he's
in he's in the beginning part of of rebirth part
one which will be uh episode 24 of the tfg1 podcast
i don't think he's in after part one I don't
know, I'll have to watch it again. Yet another
Optimus Rodimus battle way cool. I actually have
the the animation cell from this when Rodimus
is Optimus is basically on top of Rodimus and
Rodimus has that that I think it's Many blowtorch
gun. I don't know what it is. It's some sort
of laser thing firing his laser God Let's not
go there, that's a whole other Birdman prophecy
thing. So, Optimus gets the Matrix from Rodimus
and then he travels into it to find out how to
cure the world. The Touch! Fucking awesome! The
Touch, I did not - Well, I hadn't watched this
- all the way through in a long time before I
even started doing TFG1 podcast. I watched all
these DVDs, the Rhino sets, when I first got
them off of eBay, but I hadn't watched this since
then. So I was just kind of like super shocked
and I actually sent a very complimentary email
to Stan Bush after I saw this I couldn't resist
Optimus releases the energy and wisdom within
the matrix hot rod says that the matrix is empty,
but optimus says that they must fill it up again
from this on the episode ends with the famous
last words and the Autobots turning into the
camera and The famous last words are also it's
also my my closing So initial thoughts on the
plot of the episode Let's see, I have a whole
slew of thoughts, but as far as the plot goes,
I was surprised that Prime, he's back, and he's
ready to do his thing, and he goes, oh, I don't
actually have a plan, because I'm missing the
accumulated Autobot knowledge that was stored
in the Matrix, because the Ironomus has it. You
know Rodimus has had it all season and he still
doesn't have a plan Well, Optimus just came back
to life damn it Well, yeah, but he's missing
the matrix well, that's the point though. He's
missing the matrix. He needs the Autobot knowledge,
you know, this wisdom stored in the Matrix so
that he can come up with a plan because he's
always got a plan. He's, you know, he's Optimus
Prime and Rodimus is always saying, oh, I can't
live up to Optimus Prime because he's always
got a plan. And now Optimus is saying, wow, if
I only had that Matrix, I could come up with
something really sweet. Optimus Prime lives up
to him. I mean, but the point is, you know, the
Matrix is nothing but a plot device that was
introduced in the movie. That's all that the
Matrix is. It was a plot device to further the
series in a way to get Optimus Prime to die and
to pass something on to the other Autobots. Right,
so we can, you know, hand the crown over to the
next leader. But what I'm saying though is, despite
the fact that Rodimus Prime had the Matrix all
this time, he's still a major fuck up. Why couldn't
they have written him as, you know, the next
great leader? He could have been spending the
last 20 odd episodes being a great leader and
really, really handing it to Galvatron because
Galvatron is so easy. You know why that didn't
happen? Because they wouldn't have been able
to bring Optimus back. Yeah they could have.
They could have brought Optimus back and he would
have been ten times better anyway. He was ten
times better anyway. Alright Steve, do you have
any initial thoughts on the actual plot of this
last episode today? I liked how Optimus Prime
came back and took command again and ended up
with some old and some new comrades and led the
forces of the Autobots through to getting him
coated with the metal and on through to him battling
Whatever the fuck his name is Rodimus Prime That
is what happened and kicking his ass and then
finally, you know the the matrix and him talking
to Alpha Trion and then finally Yeah, it was
just great how that all went up went through
and how he in Galvatron did a truce temporarily
basically The two work together similar to how
he and Megatron work together in the first and
second season when the knee came Before we go
on to our thoughts and seeing as how mr. Wilson
really doesn't have any other initial plot thoughts
I'm going to play the the coming out of the matrix
clip What is this? Now light our darkest hour.
So, yeah. The end? When they bring out the touch?
Yeah, pretty much. Actually, it went on. I stopped
it too early and I can't restart it, but it goes
on to say how... You know, Rodimus is like, oh,
well, or Hot Rod is like, oh, well, the matrix
is empty and Optimus is like, we'll just have
to fill it up again. And then it goes into the
final thing of, you know, Autobots transform
roll out, whatever else. So we're going to move
on to our thoughts. All right, it is time for
our thoughts. And before we get into that, I
meant to actually play the first clip, which
was finding the cure, which I will play now.
So I actually played them backwards. Oh, well.
If any cure to this plague exists, only the ancient
leaders within the Matrix could possibly know
it. I must travel into the Matrix. Find a cure
for the spore plague. Can you help me, Alpha
Trion? If there is a cure, I know nothing of
it. Then I must journey farther back. Be careful,
or if you travel too far, you may become lost
and never find your way back. If I do not try,
there may be nothing to return to. They're looking
for Optimus Prime! I must stop them! They'll
destroy us both! Hurry! Please hurry! The plague
you speak of has visited us once before. A wise
man was able to contain the Spores and send them
into the sun. But no one was able to destroy
them. No one had the pl... Such madness is with
wisdom. Unfortunately, no one person now has
the wisdom to contain the spores, much less destroy
them now that they have spread across the galaxy.
Perhaps there does exist a source of wisdom powerful
enough to destroy the spores and cure the entire
world. The accumulated wisdom that resides within
the Matrix. Optimus Prime! Does this mean the
fighting will continue? Had to say. There will
be no war today, Optimus Prime. You have earned
Galvatron's respect. The wisdom of the ages.
It's lost. No, not lost. We're all a little wiser
now. But the Matrix is empty. It's up to all
of us to fill it again. With the wisdom we accumulate
from this moment on. Autobots, transform! What
I think I did was by accident the clip I played
in the Synopsis was the shortened version for
Stan when I sent him the email because I sent
him a clip of this and Yeah, and this was the
long version the whole final scene Alright, so
what did you guys think of this last episode
of season 3? I have to say that this, along with
the Starscream episodes, would be my favorite
of all of season 3. Yeah, that might be agreeable
to me. Alright, do you have any others? OK, well.
Negative. Oh, wait. Negative on Steve. Heck yeah
on Michael. Bumblebee being gold bug. Yeah. Are
we just trying to sell toys here? Is that what
it comes down to? Because I mean, there was a
battle in the beginning. Yeah. But I don't remember
seeing Bumblebee getting injured so badly that.
That you know he needed to become a whole new
robot It was just a way for them to up the toy
and actually it was I believe that I can't be
for certain Maybe um if optimus scourge listens
to this episode he can correct me I believe it
was because they didn't want to lose the the
Volkswagen license for the toys Oh well, I mean
they Suppose they could always reissue the original
didn't want anything to do with the transformers
after this oh That makes sense. I mean, yeah,
I suppose I'm just thinking of something along
the lines of did they lose the name Bumblebee
all together because they could have just usually
called gold bug Bumblebee the toy I mean and
you know, we wouldn't have ended up with gold
bug He could have been like I'm a gold bumblebee.
I mean I like it I mean a lot of people may not
like it, but I I liked it with the you know Just
the whole Coming up with a new even though he's
the same bumblebee. It's just a new name new
new paint job And all that stuff. I don't know
I liked it some people yeah He said he still
sounds just like Peter Parker and his amazing
friends and played that role I know It's just
like just like in the revenge of the fallen.
It's like wait a minute Soundwave sounds a lot
like we've been over this and Yes, it was the
same guy Did Anybody else notice the the whole
thing with the RC This is another springer thing
This is another Springer thing, huh? What are
you talking about? No Okay, I mean no go ahead
and say you already brought it up you might as
well enlighten us. What are you talking about?
Well, um I'm well, maybe I'm just wrong. Yeah,
I'm wrong. Never mind. Just say it damn it. What
the hell are you talking about? I've got I've
gotten my notes here as far as Galvatron is wondering,
what's going on? Why do you need this metal?
What's the plan? How can I exploit this to my
advantage? And somebody basically spills the
beans. And for some reason, I'm just going to
use the - Oh, you're talking about Jessica Morgan,
not RC. It's Jessica. Oh, OK. Okay, cuz my notes
here actually say oh no, I ran my bitch knows
the secret and I'm thinking When they finally
get to the cavern after going through all these
tunnels Only get the cavern she's like, oh there's
enough metal here to encode you optimus Yeah,
that it it was Jessica not RC. I'm like, wait,
what are you talking about? RC wasn't even in
this episode Speaking of Galvatron Galvatron,
you know for some strange reason he gets this
it's a rare alloy the space metal He really doesn't
know what to do with it. He just knows he wants
it because somebody else wants it first And once
you do with it, he puts it in the bottom of his
dungeon That's that's guarded by spider sorus
and space leeches You know, is it that important
to you that you have to put it down in the 14th
level of your dungeon? Do you have to be a level
10 fighter to get your ass down there to get
it? It's just really sad that they'd have to
go through all this. There's a lot of waste of
time, basically. I can't imagine how the hell
Galvatron got this metal. Yeah, I was thinking
about that. Why are they going through all these
friggin' caverns and giving all this fucking
plot exposition And everything else and it's
like yeah How the hell did they get the shit
down there in the first place? I didn't even
I didn't even know I didn't even know Charlie
went that damn deep He's like oh, you know what
I forgot we actually sent it down the service
elevator and oh I we could have taken the elevator
Yeah, and yeah my final My final thought there
was, the spores are killed with wisdom. So that
means everyone was dumb. Exactly. You're all
really, really freaking dumb. Prime is the only
spry one. Prime is still dumb as a brick. He's
like, oh, I've got the rage virus so I really
can't be counted upon to cure jack and shit.
You smug son of a b - it's it's it's rather okay
drive the only way that i can really explain
that away as far as wisdom versus hatred i mean
i know it was the whole point of optimist being
able to get the matrix back but maybe what they
should have been going for his you know you know
good versus evil instead of hate verses like
or whatever i mean i don't know uh... i was just
happy to have optimist back in All that good,
happy shit. Yeah. Yeah, it doesn't matter how
they did it. They got Optimus back. But at this
point, it's not as good and Optimus. We've already
seen that Optimus doesn't have a plan. He's lacking
the wisdom of the ages, the accumulated wisdom
and knowledge of the Autobots. So it's like,
well, yeah, now I'm probably no better a leader
than Rodimus Prime. So you're all fucked anyway.
Sorry. He's a tool. I'm just a tool. No, I don't
have all that stuff. Stop stop stop. Okay, but
yeah first First you guys bitch about them killing
him off in the movie and now you're bitching
about him that he's back. We're not happy Jesus,
we're never satisfied. We're fanboys. We can't
help it But you know we got out from his back
we lost the matrix but we can probably do without
that because we got the time You got touch yeah,
and Galvatron says man last summer I better settle
up a truce real damn quick Optimus hey, let's
bury the hatchet. Okay, cuz this music is I've
heard you say that before yeah yes yes it bears
repeating yeah like you know i i'm i'm about
a hair's breadth away from getting my ass handed
to me i'm pretty sure so hey put it there pal
you've earned my respect prime's like i don't
need your fucking respect get back in your hole
you piece of shit exactly that's right give me
your face I'm just gonna kick your fucking ass
right here. Can I break your teeth, sir? Oh You
know, it's just shocking that it took two whole
episodes to bring prime back if they had only
had a little chunk of the all spark, you know,
boom I Could have just had the GI Joe guys rebuild
them like they like Cobra did Megatron Yeah Or
better yet you can get Derek J. Wyatt's uh...
tf animated scalpel to crawl up on his chest
and say i don't think steve have you seen that
yet steve yes unfortunately and on that note
we're gonna end the episode we're gonna do some
