About this Episode

Hosts Mike Blanchard and Steve Phillips revisit the first eleven episodes of Boy Meets World to discuss the series' pilot, character development, and the show's wholesome portrayal of family life. They highlight key episodes like the introduction of Topanga Lawrence, the "Genius" episode, and the memorable guest appearance by Rue McClanahan. The hosts share their perspectives on the show's enduring themes, the impact of having the series available on Hulu, and their appreciation for the dynamic between the Matthews parents, Amy and Alan.

Whoa! Hello and welcome to episode one of Podcaster

Meets World brought to you by the Geekcast Radio

Network. I am one of your hosts TF2 and Mike

and joining me is Steve Megatron. Yes. Hello.

Hello. So we recorded episode zero almost one

year to the day. Not really. we released episode

zero uh... february second twenty sixteen uh...

in preparation for boy meets world's twenty -fifth

anniversary podcaster meets world was originally

going to be one hundred episodes of a podcast

covering every single episode of both when these

world and girl meets world well we've got a reformatted

and simplified it and it's not only going to

be a twenty episode limited series podcast today

will be we will be giving our thoughts on the

first half of when it's world season one we watched

the first eleven of the twenty two episodes and

we're here to celebrate as i said twenty five

years of the ground -breaking family television

show what was it like for you going back and

watching this is like riding a bike uh... really

i mean i i kind of uh... well part of it it's

been fun too go back and and watch it just for

the sake of watching it Yeah, just for watching.

I mean, Mary and I have been watching like Boy

Meets World, Step by Step, Family Matters. That's

because it's all on Hulu right now, folks. All

episodes of all the shows he just mentioned are

now on Hulu. The entire series of each one, thank

God it's Hulu. Yeah, so you get your whole TGF

lineup with them. Yeah, I mean it's it's a lot

of fun to to sit there and and listen to this

stuff and so Yeah, I mean I've enjoyed going

back and reminiscing on it and so has she she's

like At one one point she's like You know, I

really miss going in and watching step by step

and I'm like funny you should say so Yeah, I'm

like it's right here. Yeah So yeah, I mean it's

it's it's very fun to kind of sit there Absolutely

go back and watch everything Hulu has been doing

some amazing stuff with the content. They've

been adding they just added Living single they

just added Er they added a whole bunch of they've

been adding a whole bunch of stuff, and it's

great. I absolutely love it But Boy Meets World,

the first half of season one, the first 11 episodes,

I knew I always enjoyed this show from way back

when to even a few years ago when Disney Channel

had it, when Girl Meets World was on, and Disney

Channel slash ABC still had the rights to re

-air Boy Meets World. So I would watch it on

TV again, like three or four years ago at this

point, maybe five years ago. I don't remember

exactly when it was. and it was just fun like

watching it over again and like you said now

with it being on hulu you can watch it pretty

much anytime any of the seven seasons because

all seven seasons are there and you don't have

quality family comedy drama type programming

like this was well and especially uh... even

you know kind of calculating nowadays they don't

The kind of wholesomeness stuff this is kind

of dead. Yeah, and so Yeah, I mean I'm a big

proponent for the original content And so it's

it's kind of a bummer when You know you you sit

there and you're kind of like this, you know,

honestly sucks cuz like, you know, there's nothing

to watch Yeah And that's, again, one of the reasons

why I love Hulu, because they've got a lot of

stuff on there, from 80s, 90s, currently, to

current new show type of stuff, and everything

else. But going back and watching this again,

I just absolutely love it. The pilot episode,

basically has - It's a little rough, but I mean,

it's still good. It's a little rough, but it

- It's got some really good lines in it Don't

you love some of the characters that they tried

to make happen and just didn't yeah? They were

like they would sit at the table with Cory and

and and Sean and you're like these people are

not gonna last yeah Absolutely like I think it's

yeah, it is the pilot episode where it's them

and one other kid yeah uh... saying about you

know how late did you get to stay up and then

they were going by what i assume it was johnny

carson or whatever you know opening monologue

first sketch first guess i think they were going

maybe you know johnny carson or saturday night

live because it's kind of uh... you know either

one because i don't know how many sketches carson

had well okay so carson and that is familiar

with his his lineup is the next generation and

and i am Cuz like well, I'm not talking like

the phallan universe. I'm talking like you know

Yeah, you're talking about like Leno and things

like that. Yeah Okay, so Johnny Carson Opening

monologue, you gotta understand like how late

did you get to stay up last night? I assume they're

talking about like if it's a Tuesday or like

I don't assume It's a Sunday night because there

are no there were no sketch show. Okay, maybe

in living color or whatever But I really doubt

that they would be talking about in living color

at that time. I'm just going to say they're talking

about Johnny Carson and the Tonight Show. So

opening monologue, first guest, first sketch.

Sketches on Johnny Carson would be like the impressive

tarmac or omac or the one where he has the visions

of the stuff and he's kind of the, you know,

it's whatever he does. Maybe could be a Jack

Hanna thing, you know an animal guest kind of

thing So that's what I assume because they also

mentioned musical guest at some point so and

the musical guests most Usually still even today

happen at the end of the show So that's what

I assume they're doing there You know in this

pilot episode like you said it is a little rough,

but it is also showing like you also said, you

know what? works and what doesn't work apparently

having certain third or fourth kids didn't really

work even going into the second episode uh...

with the water war uh... that worked better than

the pilot episode did i think with having the

two two or three kids there besides corey and

shawn and then eventually what ended up happening

throughout the first season at least this first

half of of season one is that you had corey and

shawn Topanga and Makis and that ended up being

obviously the core four for the longest time

because they're just now starting middle school

They're in sixth grade. I believe at the sixth

or seventh grade at this point You know, and

I really I dug the pilot I thought it was funny.

I thought it was interesting, you know Mr. Matthew's

a candy bar for breakfast, you know I love Mr.

Feeney. Feeney is a genius. Yeah. And it's not

just because he was the voice of Kit in Knight

Rider, I just, the character of George Feeney

in this show adds an additional layer of comedy

and, you know, seriousness. He's there to teach

the lessons. He is the teacher we all wanted.

He absolutely is. As we go along with this first

half, Father knows less which is the third episode

of this of season one basically gives you the

insight of the the stylings or teach it teacher

Lessons versus parent styles between Alan and

George between Alan and Feeney Cory's dad and

Cory's teacher and we really get to know a lot

about mr. Feeney in that episode about how his

father was and how the war was and all that I

love that I thought that was great, because I

was not expecting too much information on Mr.

Feeny right away, because most of the time when

we're in school, whether it's elementary school,

middle school, whatever, we don't, like, when

I was growing up, when I was a kid, he'll, he'll,

he'll, um, you know. We knew our teachers as

teachers in school, and they would do whatever

they could for us in school and whatever else,

and some would go above and beyond, but I don't

think I ever had a teacher live next door to

me. And I'm pretty sure I didn't at all. And

it's one of those things where once you go home,

the teachers go home, and it's a separate life.

I remember in the old days you know teachers

used to make house calls like if a kid was doing

not so great or if you know he or she needed

to talk to the parents about the grades and things

like that and In today's society you can't teachers

can't do that. They shouldn't even do that now

I mean dangerous minds proved that I think but

I don't know what did you think of the father

knows less episode Well, Spinelli, like the assistant

manager, Spinelli. Spinelli. He's so annoying.

Leonard Spinelli. You know. He's just super whiny.

Yeah, he is. Yeah. I think it was funny, you

know, the waking up to watch the game thing at

the end of the night. That just reminds me of

something my family did. Like, I would... get

up with my, you know, my parents or whatever.

And I'd be up late at night, you know, maybe

see my because my dad at times would work like

different shifts and sometimes he'd come home

late at night and, you know, come visitors or

whatever. So it was kind of ring a bell there

for me. Yeah. And so, like, I kind of saw that.

And, yeah, the whole being tired and then. It's.

And then the father just being taxed to the max

like it's kind of It's it's very real life Yeah,

it very much is and that's a good thing that

is very much a good thing And we go on and Corey

asks his mom about why adults change, who is

right, and she had told him that two adults can

think differently about something, even though

he is confused. Corey is sure what Alan meant,

that he'd go to sleep on time. Alan then promises

to Corey that he'll be there for him if he misses

something. And I thought that was really cool.

With episode 4, Corey's Alternative Friends,

this is great. Because this lesson in this episode

is pretty much treating others the way you want

to be treated, as well as looking at people from

a different perspective. Yeah, I mean, I can

kind of see that. Yeah, absolutely. This is the

first appearance of Danielle official as Topanga

Lawrence, and this is the first kiss episode

This is the locker room kiss episode where she

pins him up against the yep Yep, the locker and

then he's just kind of get this like So yeah,

it's it's it's very funny to yeah it is I Mean

I like that episode because again you have the

You have the whole thing of Like I said You know

somebody called Corey Corey assumed someone called

him a Brillo head or a Brillo pad or whatever

So he goes and does something drastic and we've

all done the whole haircut thing It may not be

putting you know chemicals in our hair to make

it fall out But I know for a fact that I did

the whole You know, sitting in a bathtub with

a giant pair of scissors at six or seven years

old trying to get myself a haircut did not work,

obviously. I don't remember if I had to turn

into Lex Luthor for a while after that. I might

have. Yay, I was shaving my head even when I

was six years old. And just Corey, like, you

know, learning. You know, from the quote -unquote

nerds and all that, I thought that was just so

cool. Yeah, it's always kind of interesting to

see that struggle of being the outcast. Yeah.

Just because most of us have been there at some

point in our life. Mm -hmm. And then episode

five was killer bees. This was the geography

quiz thing with the geography tournament That

part of this episode isn't really what interests

me What interested me and maybe it did as a kid.

I don't remember I honestly don't because I don't

remember how I'm looking at it now as an adult

what Honestly interests me the most about this

show besides the kids stuff that I kind of already

know that happens on the show Is the stuff with

Alan and Amy the parents because they're just

so William Russ and Betsy Randall. Oh, man There

are other great television parent characters

out there but for me those two They're the best

at this point. Um, absolutely love them. And

you know, their whole shtick here is Eric has

found out that they are going to the Aerosmith

concert that he wants to take his date to. And

he's like, why are you guys going to this? Blah,

blah, blah. Well, we've been going to this, you

know, since, you know, the 70s and 80s before

you were even born. How old are these Aerosmith

guys? It's funny I've tell you you know this

you'll remember once I say it I've said this

before in other GCR and podcasts my mom's ex

-boyfriend Tom Used to run a business called

Plaza cleaners in Marshfield, Massachusetts Joe

Perry would come in every so often and have his

clothes dry cleaned at that dry cleaners So yeah,

I was a half inch away from Aerosmith in Massachusetts

as a kid My my wife's Aunt and uncle mm -hmm

actually used to live like Close to I think they

said Bruce Willis at one time. Oh wow Yeah, so

I mean it's it's it's kind of crazy small world

Yep, absolutely and then we have boys to Mensa

which is episode 6 You know Cory in this episode

is taking the phrase class clown to a literal

Sense because it's almost Halloween Basically,

this is the genius IQ episode this is kind of

like the genius yeah, where he finds the the

the sheet in the trash and everything else and

What I love about this is and I don't know you

know I'm not gonna judge all parents on this

nowadays, but Look at how Alan and Amy react

like they know their kid And you see so many

news stories on you know on TV and in papers

about how? Parents don't know their kids parents

don't know this parents don't know that or they

didn't know this was going on that was going

on these two parents know you know without even

really having to do anything like you know well

yeah okay yes they're scripted that way but yeah

but these parents they know their son they know

that he's not going to you know they know he's

always gonna do the right thing they know he's

gonna do this then the other thing You know,

now if you flip this show and made Sean the lead

and him and his parents, maybe not. You know,

I have some questionable moments. Yeah, exactly.

But that's not the not the not the case. What

did you think about boy's dementia? I thought

it was hilarious because he's like touting it

because, you know, he had an ulterior motive

for cheating and getting the test and then. You

know mancas is like I'm not smart. I'm not smart

and then so he starts trying to like dumb himself

down to fit in So, I mean it's it's I think it's

funny that you know, it shows the Original yet

very common thread that most kids still to this

day Cheat or think to cheat. However in in Corey's

instance it kind of backfires it backfires and

yet no one should be cheating on any tests or

anything in school or anything I did it in high

school and I got caught in my teacher purposely

didn't say names everybody knows me but didn't

say names and in red verbatim what I duplicated

and and it basically gave me an opportunity to

write in the honorable way. i never did and see

that i mean yeah i understand what you're saying

and i agree uh... but the the difference here

is that this is one of those genius this is one

of those iq test this is one of like this is

like the social studies test from last week this

is you know this is just one of those like i

mentioned earlier you know part the genius episode

on the simpsons or something where you know party

you know seems to have you know super genius

abilities kind of thing what i love about this

again it's centered around Halloween and I as

a kid I loved Halloween not so much anymore damn

kids shut the hell up and go away no candy for

you when I love it about this is the end because

there are three boys and Mr. Feeny is absolutely

sure that one of them is Cory so he pulls up

the mask on the one and it's not Cory and you

know After he leaves the other two are revealed

and it's Cory and Sean and Cory says and they

think I'm not a genius Absolutely love it. Alright

episode 7 grandma was a rolling stone Keister

for 10 hours in that Winnebago. I need some stretching

room. Hey! Grandma! Grandma! Hey! Where's my

present? I thought this year maybe you were going

to buy me one. Nuh -uh. You're the grandma. I

am? Oh. Well, in that case, uh -oh, what have

we here? A dolly. Well, it's a shrunken head.

They don't sell real ones in Tijuana. Not for

a buck. It's a cool bullet, Grandma. Oh, yeah,

and it's yours. I had the wagon master to go

with it, but he slipped out of the cuffs in Juarez.

I know, I know, I didn't call. You never do,

Bernie. Well, it's not my style. Hey, I got them

for you, too. Yeah. Dried cactus. It's from Albuquerque.

An old Navajo tradition. Keeps you regular as

a diesel. Well, thanks for preparing. We'll think

of you several times a day. So, what brings you

to our neck of the woods? Did your convoy swing

through? Yeah, yeah, we made a killing in bingo

country, so now we're heading out to Palm Springs

to buy ourselves some new butts. Grandpa! Hello!

Finally decided to show your face, huh? What'd

they do, let you out of detention early? Yeah,

well, I heard La Cucaracha from all the way down

at the park. How long you staying? Just a weekend.

Speaking of which, hey, you two kids, cancel

all your plans for Saturday, because Morgan,

you and I are gonna go shopping. We are gonna

buy so many new clothes, you won't know what

to do with them all. I'll wear them, then I'll

throw them on the floor. Why not? And then I

thought we'd take in the auto show. I hear they

got some pretty hot babes sitting on the hoods

of those hot rods. There's something I might

enjoy. And Sunday, kiddo, you and I. We are gonna

go get this baseball card signed by the guy in

the picture How did I get it? I shot a man in

Reno just to watch him die And then I pried that

out of his cold dead fingers Or I bought it for

seven bucks at a swap meet. You make the call.

You weren't going to get him to sign it? Well,

would you like that? What, are you new? How do

you not love an episode where it's Blanche Devereux

from the Golden Girls? It's Rue McClanahan as

Bernice Matthews, the grandmother. Like, I, like,

oh god. I remember when I first saw this. I nearly

passed out because I used to watch the golden

girls with my grandma all the time when I was

a kid Just absolutely hilarious And this episode

shows you the note I wrote down for this one

was It even though adults don't always show you

the love you want in the way you want it they

still love you, you know She still found a way

to show Corey that she you know loves him and

that he means a lot to her and The funniest part

about this was the end With her versus Feeny.

I thought that was hilarious You don't mess with

a crazy grandma no, and you don't mess with Feeny

either cuz like yeah That was hilarious. What

did you think of this one? I liked it. I mean,

it's very much like a grandma story. It kind

of reminds me of things that would go on with

mine. I have a very loud, outspoken grandmother

that's not really afraid to speak her mind. absolutely

mine mine were like that as well sadly they're

no longer with us they've been with us a while

this episode also guest stars Carrie Russell

as Jessica who is Feeny's niece well and the

funny part about this show is there's a lot of

cameos oh absolutely who would be like big somethings

later on that we're all like Eric's girlfriends

oh yeah Yeah, it gets Amazingly better and I

will have the audio in I hope I hope we can get

him back for an interview this year but Jason

Marsden is in this show later in later seasons

and Some of the episodes with him as Eric's best

friend Just absolutely hilarious is that before

he goes to step -by -step Jason Marsden. Yeah

I think so, yeah. Yeah, because he goes on that

show too. He might have done them consecutively,

I don't know. I think he did, but I don't know

how long that stuck. So episode eight is Teacher's

Bet. This is the one where Corey and Minkus get

into a conversation where Corey thinks Mr. Feeny

gets overpaid while Minkus thinks he gets underpaid.

and it goes on just you know further you know

basically it's a freaky friday teacher student

episode where you know feeny says okay mr matthews

you take over the class you're the teacher now

i'm gonna be the student and then he goes and

sits there and he addresses the role and starts

messing around playing cards with shawn uh...

yeah just shows that the the roles are reversed

as it were Mm -hmm, and it's total anarchy in

the classroom and in Cory Betts is like yeah

with with Feeney and Feeney's like I'll give

you my paycheck So yeah, I like this one like

I said, it's an interesting freaky Friday kind

of deal not necessarily where the two people

are switching bodies, but switching roles and

each one of them learning something from it again

that's the the good this the greatest thing about

boy meets world they put the lessons in the content

you don't need cartoon PSA is after this kind

of thing you don't need any kind of PSA after

this because the lesson is in the content of

the show it's a family comedy but it's also dramatic

and whatever as it'll go along in the seasons

but absolutely love this uh... there's a nine

-class pre -union this is the one where corey

is uh... making a video about being the middle

child wonder if brian did this yeah i'd just

get them watching this one like a little bit

ago it's it's still funny it's very funny especially

when morgan's friend uh... it's like oh it's

no take backs and so like Morgan and Amy, you

know, sit there and concoct this plan of like,

oh, I'll give you this and this and this and

like entice the kid. And then she's like, I'm

going to need your car keys, you know, just because.

The sentimental value yeah Yeah, that's what

I like about some of these episodes in season

one here is yes the show is about Cory and Sean

and all of that and it's about Cory learning

the lessons he's supposed to learn to you know

grow up to be a you know Great individual of

society, but it's also about all of the other

characters And it's one of those things where

Sometimes the other Storylines in the episode

are almost more interesting than the main than

the main character storyline like the whole point

of this episode is You know Cory trying to figure

out what his future is going to be and they have

guest star Jim Abbott Which is funny, which is

really really cool We then go to Santa's Little

Helper, which is episode 10 of season one this

one Yeah, that's the one where Sean's dad loses

his job. Yeah, and you don't yet see the father.

Yeah, no But yeah it kind of shows that That

quarries just he's got some learning to do. Yeah

What I just realized who Spinelli is It's Willie

Garson from You probably don't watch this show

everybody else might but you don't white -collar.

He was mozzie and white -collar like oh my god

He was Dr. Kreutz in 2002's Taken. He was in

an episode of Yes Dear as Gordon. Oh, he returned

as Harrison Miller in Girl Meets Popular in Girl

Meets World. But anyway, I didn't really realize

that was him at first. I wasn't even sure. But

it lists him in the guest stars on the Father

Son game. Uh, but Santa's a little helper. Probably

at this point in my life, the only time I don't

mind hearing about a Christmas Carol. And like

Cory said, who's this girl named Carol? Like

what, what's she got to do with this? It was

funny. And again, we're, we're really starting

to delve into how different Cory and Sean's lives

are. We're starting to see that Sean's life isn't

all roses and. sunshine and all that which I

think is really interesting yep and yeah you

could just tell the difference in writing for

Sean that he was gonna take a fall in this episode

oh yeah absolutely but the thing about it is

you also have the two of them you know pointing

out to each other what friendship should be and

you know and how each has the kind of wrong in

a sense. Yeah, but each also has it right in

a kind of a sense, too, I think. Okay, yeah,

Cory had it wrong with, you know, doing the gift

to get thanks, but, you know, I thought for a

minute there, in the middle of it, he was going

to just do it to, you know, Be a good friend

and whatever else and you know this is kind of

the building block for what their friendship

is and and what it will be in the future so There

is that The final episode we're going to talk

about tonight episode 11, which is the season

one halfway mark is father the father -son game

This Basically is Cory and Eric trying to get

out of the father -son softball game with their

dad Alan Because they don't they have other better

things to do, you know in the first season Cory

is 11 years old Eric is I think 16 15 16 somewhere

around there. I think I forget I think he has

his perm his learner's permit or something. I

don't remember But they both have differing things

and they don't want to do the father -son The

stuff that you would normally do with your dad

as a seven eight nine year old they want to go

off and be with their friends and Eric wants

to go off and do you know date and all that And

they realize just how you know Crushing that

is to their dad and they try to make it up to

him with this barbecue thing and everything else

and by the end of it I love how it kind of flips

on Alan where they're like, oh, but they want

a rematch next week and Alan's just like Once

a year is fine guys. He doesn't say that but

that's just the look on his face by the end of

it I remember for me coming from divorced parents

my Dad I believe I saw him Tuesdays and Thursdays

every week when I was a kid it might might have

been Monday Tuesday and Thursday or something

like that, but we always played Baseball softball

whatever you want to call it In the yard on those

days or we would go out to a batting cage or

something like that So this episode did kind

of hit home for me a little bit What did you

think of this one? It hit home a little bit for

me. I mean, I never really had that opportunity.

I mean, there were, I think there were times

like I used to play T -ball in elementary school

and then I played soccer later on. And there

came a point where I was kind of like, yeah,

I'm like, I'm good. I don't need you guys here.

Just because I was getting older and I was like

you embarrassed me yelling in the you know Yeah,

and I'm like just go like I don't know I Looking

back on it. I'm like, you know, I missed that

but It's it's kind of you know hindsight but

Yeah, I mean so I mean I can definitely relate

to the that whole aspect and then there were

there were moments where I wanted To do it and

I didn't have anybody That wanted to so I mean

there that it's I don't know it's it's that kind

of Right of passage that you just kind of eventually

hit that that mark Yeah, you do and it's one

of those things where You only have so much time

with your kids before they've kind of grown into

their own And they want to not necessarily go

off on their own path, but they want to hang

out with their friends when they want to hang

out with their parents. They want to, you know,

do teenage, you know, young adult teenager ish

kind of stuff. And it's kind of sad too, because

like being a father now, I'm like, I'm like,

man, I'm like, I kind of. At times feel like

I squander the time I'm given. Like if that makes

any sense and so like I'm kind of like I wish

I could Spend more time or wish that I Felt more

energized and more, you know Capable of doing

certain things or there was more time of the

day to get everything done and still Yeah this

stuff so I mean it's it's it's a lot of Just

struggle of of just being a modern parent in

that scenario. Yeah. And modern parenting now

isn't what it was 25 years ago. And yes, this

is only a TV show. Yes, this is scripted. Yes,

it is. But I've known and I've seen parents like

Amy and Alan, you know, taking care of two or

three kids. You know you do your best, and you

know I'm not a father. I can't speak to it I

can only speak to what you know my parents went

through You know it's like we said back in episode

zero the whole staple for this podcast is Steve

is the kind of Cory archetype character. I'm

kind of the Sean archetype character even though

Thankfully life has changed a lot since the first

time we did episode zero, but it's one of those

thing where You know coming from certain situations

and looking at it in different ways and was still

wanting to you know We all wanted these parents,

you know everybody I would think would like to

have had Amy and Alan as parents because they

do pay attention to each one of their kids And

you know Corey said you know did earlier in the

earlier episode about the middle child syndrome

and things my cousins Rachel Robbie and Cassie

You know they were trio of three with their parents

and thankfully Their parents didn't get divorced

until they were all already grown all three of

them were already all grown up in their 20s You

know that you know that kind of stuff So their

parents were always there for them as as kids

as much as my uncle did His construction stuff

and whatever else and my aunt Debbie was always

on the go and whatever else But it's like, you

know, they always made time for each of their

kids and that's what these parenting characters

are doing here And the father -son game thing

it's like, you know That's part of the lesson

here traditions do change you make new traditions.

You do this you do that you find a way to take

the old tradition and Incorporate it with something

new And that's interesting and fun, and it's

a good life lesson. What this last episode for

today's podcast shows me is that this television

show is not only showing Corey lessons from class

in school, but it's also lessons at home as well.

And as we said earlier, it's the wholesome television

thing. Any final thoughts anything you want to

say about these first 11 really quick before

we take a break? It's just it's kind of fun going

back and watching it and then for one seeing

the the polar difference in character personas

to later for instance Looking at Eric Who's a

bubbling idiot later on yeah? So I mean, it's

a lot of difference. I mean, he is still kind

of a bumbling idiot now. I did see moments of

it kind of showing up. And it was an intelligent

bumbling idiot, though. It wasn't just totally

bumbling idiot, whereas he acts like a stoner,

bumbling idiot. But I did see the writing on

the wall this time, going back through. absolutely

so it wasn't too much of a shock for me kind

of going back and seeing how it was going to

play itself out yeah absolutely the first half

of the season I would probably give a four and

a half out of five for this half of the season

it's going really well i can't wait to see more

of it and some of these episodes i remember some

of them i don't because i haven't seen all of

like again thank god it's hulu like seriously

like thank god this show is on hulu um and all

the other 90 shows as well so we're gonna take

a quick break come back and close the show out

after this thank you for calling free harmony

the service that matches you with the podcast

that best fits your interests and needs I really

hope you can help me because I have had no luck

finding the perfect movie podcast that gives

me everything that I want. Well, that's my job.

What are you looking for in the podcast? Well,

it needs to be a movie podcast that covers old

and new stuff, one that reviews movies but also

talks about movie news, discusses new trailers,

and is willing just to have fun with some crazy

movie games. Maybe even, you know, like the occasional

top 10 countdown? Oh, and it's gotta be a podcast

that is willing at times. to delve deep into

the careers of notable directors and speak to

all movie fans, from the general audience to

the hardcore cinephiles. Wow, well, that's quite

a resume you're looking for. What do you think

you're regarding schedule? Monthly, weekly, daily?

Weekly, of course. All right, well, let me crunch

these numbers in our patented podcast matrix

to see what I can find for you. Wow, I don't

believe it. What is it? We actually found the

perfect match. This almost never happens. Really?

Well, dreams do come true. What is it? It is

the Cinema Geeks podcast, of course. Well, that

sounds perfect, but, uh, we're gonna hook up

with such an awesome podcast. Well, you can find

it weekly on iTunes, Blockhog Radio, or GeekCastReader

.com. Awesome! Podcast marathon here I come.

Another satisfied customer brought to you by

P -Harmony and the folks over at the Cinema Geeks

podcast. Good morning, Mr. Feeny. Good morning,

Mr. Matthews. A candy bar? Doesn't your mother

feed you a proper breakfast? Oh, yeah, she does.

Now I gotta get the taste of this shredded weed

out of my mouth. You know, you're not doing your

body any favors loading up on junk like that.

Oh, thanks, Mr. Feeny. And please enjoy that

high -vitamin astronaut drink you're sucking

down. There's no gravity in space, Mr. Matthews.

Therefore, astronauts suck up. Learn from them.

He's a teacher, man. Keep ragging on him. He's

gonna make your whole sixth grade year miserable.

I'm gonna be miserable anyhow. At least this

way, I'm taking him with me. Hey, who's that?

I think she's new. She must be new. She's talking

to Feeny. Okay, so how late did you stay up last

night? Monologue. monologue first guest monologue

first guest bad sketch monologue first guest

up the knife and kill yourself. Come on, Mr.

Feeny. You and I both know she's not really dead.

May I please stab her a few times just to make

sure? Hey, you touch me with that knife, you

better kill me the first time. Two outs. Stikes

was on second. Crux on first. Three and two to

Dalton. What's this, Mr. Matthews? Huh? What

did you say, Mr. Feeney? You took my hearing

aid. Smalls to livers. Dalton swings. Oh, he

got a piece of that one. It's a long drive deep

to center. Otis Nixon back. Back to the warning

track. climbs up the wall and... Mr. Matthews,

Romeo and Juliet is Shakespeare's ultimate testament

of love between a man and a woman. Help! Help!

Mr. Petey, help! Miss Kincaid, thank you. Thank

you for that vigorous interpretation. Mr. Matthews,

you do not listen to the ball game in the middle

of my class. Mr. Feeney, who cares about some

guy who killed himself over some dumb girl? The

tragedy here, Mr. Matthews, is not about a dumb

girl or the boy who kills himself because of

her. It's about the all -consuming power of love

and the inevitability of its influence on each

of our lives. Are you aware that I'm only 11

years old? Are you aware that you have detention

Friday afternoon? No, actually, I did not know

that. You will? Okay, great. Yeah, me too. Alrighty.

Okay, bye. Yes! Yes! It's 183! I'm going out

with Heather Raulston! It means every guy in

the 10th grade wants to be me. It means if they

win Friday night, they're in the playoffs. Oh,

look, Cory, we gotta talk about something. That

makes the game we're going to the most important

game of the year. Look, Cory, my date with Heather's

Friday. Now, look, I got a slight case of detention

from Feeny, but I'll just meet you at the bus.

What? It's the only night she was available.

You're not going to the game? That's terrible.

Actually, Cory, it, uh, gets worse. She's going

to the game with us? You're really close. She

and I are going to the game? Come on, Cory, it's

my first date with her. It's really important

to me. But Eric, going to the Phillies game's

like our special thing. Cory, I'm trying to get

a special thing going with Heather. Now look,

you could be happy for me and accept this like

a mature guy, or you can... Dad! ...overreact.

Dad! Just the kid I want to see. Mom! We have

a major problem. You have detention with Mr.

Feeny. How could you possibly know that? He stuck

his head over the fence and told me while I was

bringing in the groceries. I wanna move. Why

did you get detention? You know, you're missing

the bigger issue, Dad. You bought a house next

to my teacher. I wanna move. I wanna move now.

Get the guy with the gold jacket. I'll be in

the car. Why did you get detention? Apparently,

he'd rather listen to the baseball game on the

radio than try to understand the emotional content

of Romeo and Juliet. Mom, I'm a kid. I don't

understand the emotional content of Full House.

I do. Besides, I don't know why you're dumping

on me. I'm not the one who sold out my only brother

for some girl. Eric, she said yes. Yep. Congratulations.

You were in on this? Oh, come on, Cory, don't

you think you're making a big deal about this

game? I don't care about the game. I don't care

about the tickets. I wouldn't take them if you

offered them to me. All right, look, I'll just

take Heather somewhere else here. You want the

tickets? Yeah! Get real! Dad! Cory, he paid for

those tickets with his own money. He can take

whoever he likes. But I earned those tickets!

I slept with him for 11 years! Look, pal, when

you're older, you'll understand how your brother

feels because girls will be important to you

too. Fine. My brother betrays me. My parents

take a side. Fine. I don't have a friend in this

house. Do you want me and Debbie to go to the

baseball game with you? Hey, go to the game with

my sister and her doll! Great! Maybe during the

seventh inning stretch I can run through the

stadium in my old Spider -Man underwear. Well,

you do have the dress up for me. Rough life being

an only child, huh? Yeah, rougher life being

an orphan, which is what I am as of last night.

What happened? I dump my family and my family

dump me. It was mutual. They're keeping the house.

Well, we're here for you, Cory. Thanks. You're

my new brothers. Hey, how about we go to the

game Friday night? I thought the game was sold

out. It is. So we go down early. There's always

guys with extra tickets. Don't you have detention

Friday? Ah, don't worry about detention. I can

handle Feeny. Feeny loves me. Feeny hates you.

Well, it's one of the two. We brought the entire

convention center to the brink of an inter -genre

geek war. Okay, Michael, if we're going to tackle

this podcast thing, we've got to do something

really special. It has to be cool, daily, in

audio form, and undetectable by radar. Something

that screams summer. I know, let's do a Phineas

and Ferb review podcast. We'll call it the Podcast

Organization Without a Quillacronym, or Pauka

for short. What do you think? I think if we're

not careful, Candice is gonna bust us. You can

find Pauka on the Geekcast, Radio Network, iTunes,

Blog Talk Radio, and all of the other methods

you find podcasts. We'll give you the whole seat,

but you'll only need the edge. I'd like to have

Superman for a dad. Hey, there's Minkus. Alright,

we are back here on Podcaster Meets World. This

is episode one of this limited series podcast

here on the Geekcast Radio Network. I love watching

this again. Didn't even like my notes that I

have I because these are 22 minute card, you

know comedy stymus cartoons comedy stuff I basically

watched the episodes and wrote down my notes

afterwards because for me these first a lot like

I watched the first six episodes within like

Four hours in one day. So oh really? Yeah, like

I like it just goes so fast for me. It's like

oh It's the where'd the episode go? Okay pause,

you know start start the next episode pause it

Write down my notes for the previous episode.

Yada. Yada. Yada. Absolutely Any other thoughts

you want to impart to the listeners before I

give out all the pertinent information, sir?

No, I think I mean, I think I agree that it's

I give it, you know overall like Of four and

a half out of five and and I think that this

particular Show definitely is a gem like I remember

getting it Originally, I mean I had a bootleg

originally not to say that I condone that but

At the time they didn't sell them on DVD when

I got it so yeah But no, I mean I I really I

think that this is a pretty solid Show to go

to If you've got you know kids or a family like

because there's a lot of building blocks in here

Yes, you do kind of have to be careful because

there's a little bit of sarcasm in it But it's

not it's not Terrible by it's not straight to

the means. Yeah, the sarcasm that's here is not

arrogant sarcasm It's not filthy sarcasm. It's

you know, like the hardest thing Corey says.

What are you new? you know that kind of stuff

or you know Shawn might be a little dark as we

go along kind of thing but Michael Jacobs, April

Kelly and the entire Boy Meets World team keep

it fairly light still so which is absolutely

great for not only 90s television but television
