20 YEARS! Time Flies!
Hello all and welcome to my continuing Daily Blog series from me TFG1Mike. This is TFG1MIKE 365!! And it The idea here is for me to write something, anything, once a day for 365 days. From January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024. It’s Day 300 and I’ll be talking about how it’s been 20 years since the greatest comeback in Sports History!!! IF you’ve ever listened to any of our podcasts here on The GeekCast Radio Network… You’ll know that I was born and bred in the South Shore of Massachusetts. I am from Boston, and so BOSTON SPORTS is literally IN MY BLOOD!!!! The low times, the high times, it doesn’t matter…. BOSTON SPORTS, MLB, NBA, NFL, AND NHL!!!!! All four teams are EVERYTHING!!!! So at the end of the 2003 season… We didn’t know what was gonna happen, Spring of 2004 hit, and holy shit! It was one helluva time! We tried our best to “COWBOY UP”, unfortunately the DAMN YANKEES put the “COWBOY DOWN!”

That up there ^^ is an image of the apartment I had from 2015-2017, and as soon as I saw the layout of the living room… I knew exactly where my “BOSTON SPORTS WALL” was gonna be. It was gonna be my backdrop. Where the green chair is there, that was where my PC, desk, and all that was located! So we gotta REVERSE THE CURSE… Netflix released THE COMEBACK, you can see the trailer below, and I could not believe what EXCELLENT FUCKING TIMING in them releasing it…. Because I WAS NOT SURE HOW I WAS GONNA WRITE DAY 300 Of TFG1Mike 365 here in 2024.

I had this planned, it was always the plan…. However my plan was to just find the old baseball games and re watch them. Along came Netflix and said…. “Hey Mike, reliving the games would be great, but here’s this special presentation of THE COMEBACK!!!”
In 2024 we celebrate the BOSTON RED SOX and the team that accomplished the impossible! We in Boston love THOSE IDIOTS!!! I was 24 years old at the time of the 2004 Major League Baseball season. I was 4 years away from starting my Podcasting Career… Although I didn’t know that at the time. After the depressing defeat in 2003, I was ready to go forth and reverse the curse with the new team the Red Sox were putting together!
THE COMEBACK! – 2004 BOSTON RED SOX!!
After watching THE COMEBACK on Netflix… It reminded me of everything at that time in 2004. I was living in Louisville KY, working for Father Maloney’s Boys and Girls Haven as a live in resident. And every game night, I would be watching the World Series, and the epic highs and lows of that 2004 series…. What a time to be alive in 2004, I was six in 1986 when the ball went behind the bag and it got through Buckner! As a 6 year old watching the baseball team that you worshipped go through that crucial loss was devastating. And at six years old my emotions were over 9,000 level of oh my god and disappointment. As I grew up and moved to a buncha different states through out the 90s, I kept up with my home town team, but never really was “INSIDE THE BASEBALL” games the way I was when I was a kid in the 80s. Life was happening to me, and the Red Sox whilst I am a die hard fan, they kinda just faded a bit, because I could hardly ever see the games… I mean Kentucky, Mississippi, Pennsylvania, and other states I lived in at the time never carried the games… Unless the Red Sox were playing the Cincinatti Reds or a different team that was close to where I was living. That happened sometimes, but not too often. So the 2004 MLB World Series and the 2004 MLB Playoffs were a BIG DEAL for me!

I love the game of baseball regardless of my love for my hometown team. People say Baseball is boring, I look at them and say… your face is boring! (OK I never have said that, but you get the sentiment!) The four “MAJOR” sports, Baseball, Basketball, Football, and Hockey… all have their own exciting things to them. And the teams from Boston make it even more exciting!
The 2004 Boston Red Sox are the greatest in my mind, and 20 years later…. the emotions of that time in my life, and that time to be a Boston baseball fan was amazing!!! Whether you are a Boston Red Sox fan or not, whether you are a baseball fan in general or not. This is a section of sports history that is fundamentally amazing, and everyone should know about it! So everyone go forth and watch THE COMEBACK: The 2004 Boston Red Sox on Netflix!
