Heroes In A Half Shell: Sketch’s Five Great TMNT Villains

PUBLISHERS NOTE:

You all have heard Sketch on ToonCast Beyond Season 1 and will hear him in a few TCB Season 2 eps. He loves Turtles just like the rest of us, and we are letting him in on the blogging for TMNT Week.

5 Great TMNT Villains

Bishop (TMNT 2003)

Bishop is a badass. He has the skill to fight all four Turtles and Karai at the same time. He’s possibly an even greater threat than the Foot Clan because he has the might of a secret military behind him but he isn’t limited to the shadows because he works for the government. He will go to any lengths to complete a mission and despite his cruelty to aliens, mutants and even his own soldiers he eventually sees the error of his ways and helps aliens live peacefully on planet earth as the President in the future.

The Shredder / Ch’rell (TMNT 2003)

Ch’rell gets a lot of flak for being a tiny alien rather than a human but there is no question he is the most deadly of all Shredders even when compared to a demon in the 2003 animated series. He is also by far the most insane Shredder in TMNT history because he was willing to wipe out all of existence in order to kill ever incarnation of the Ninja Turtles once and for all. He may be in a robot body but that body moves with tremendous skill. I feel his origin as a rogue Utrom better connects him to the Turtles and Splinter as he is even more directly responsible for all that has happened to them. I’ll admit it would be even more impressive if he was a human but he’s still the most hardcore Shredder to date.

Karai (TMNT 2003)

Karai is often depicted as a far more redeemable character than her Master the Shredder and her constant struggle with loyalty and honor is one of the attributes that makes her so compelling. Her relationship with Leonardo is particularly interesting. She has a respect for him and the other turtles but she went to great lengths to avenge Shredder when she believed the Turtles had killed him.

Bebop & Rocksteady (TMNT 1987)

How can you not love these guys? They’re two of the best cartoon minions around. Their antics are what one of the things that make the 80s cartoon so great. Sure they are pretty much worthless in a fight after the second episode but nobody cares that they’re not a serious threat. They also managed to accidently save the multi-verse in Turtles Forever and that’s kind of a big deal.

Krang (TMNT 1987)

Krang started out as a bizarre brain like creature that was the banished overlord of Dimension X. He’s a brilliant inventor and constantly comes up with new schemes to aid him and Shredder’s conquest of the world but he’s also a sarcastic hyper-critical nag. His constant bickering with Shredder make the two seem like a grouchy old married couple and that dynamic makes for a lot of really entertaining scenes. The 80s cartoon just would not have been the same without him around to harass Shredder at every turn.

There ya have it folks, Sketch’s blogs are all online for TMNT Week 2012, here at The GCRN. HUGE thanks to him for putting them together!!!
