ToyCast
Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Review

About this Episode
And welcome to transformers toy cast and this
episode is this gonna be a supplemental It's
we're not gonna be discussing toys. I guess we
can within the discussion, but we're gonna be
talking about Revenge of the fallen we've all
seen it. I have Gary slash optimus courage with
me and the goddamn proto man. Hello guys Hey,
how y 'all doing? I'm doing pretty good. I guess
So yeah, this was kind of like a spur -of -the
-moment thing cuz Gary couldn't remember what
day it was He thought we were doing toy cast
tonight the the contest reveal and that's not
until tomorrow night Incredible amounts of toys
to pay for lawyer fees. So I don't want to get
into it any further than that So yeah, I've lost
track of time. I shipped 35 boxes yesterday My
mind is mush, but I saw the movie again today
at a matinee. So that that cared the hangover
of that No wonder this thing is almost at the
four hundred million dollar mark. You're putting
more money into it than anybody else I've gone
once to opening night myself I took my kids the
next day to a matinee. So that's four tickets.
And then I took my wife and kids. That's four
more tickets. That's what? Like eight there.
And then I went myself the last two days at a
matinee. And I got one for free because they
messed up something on my order. So I wasn't
going to go for the fifth time. I was just going
to wait. But I ended up going for free. Feel
bad only seeing it three times Well, I've only
seen once and I barely remember it actually only
because it was such a horror to try to get out
to the theater that well Don't worry. We'll kind
of you know, yes Good No, no, I forgot what I
was gonna say. Go ahead. I go ahead. Well, no,
I was gonna say there The reason why we're doing
this under Toycast is because, you know, Steve
and I have already talked about the movie, but
I mean, I can't stop talking about it, and I
know that you guys want to get in on a discussion
on it, so that's why we're doing this as a supplemental
for Toycast. Because that's the show that you
guys are on. And somebody up in Canada is going
to party tomorrow night, so apparently he won't
be on Toycast tomorrow night. That's your right.
It's your cue proto man. Oh I'm partying tomorrow
night. Oh, you told me yet You told me tomorrow
the Canadian holiday and you said you wouldn't
be around. Oh, yeah. Well, I won't be around
Yeah, you know, we've all seen and I've seen
it once you guys have seen it multiple times
I I actually enjoyed it for the most part. Outside
of my travel problems to and from the theater,
I did enjoy it. I thought it was a hell of a
lot better than the first one. And I guess we
can go beat by beat, whoever wants to start first.
My memory is kind of vague at this point. Well,
I guess I could give the overall summaries. Well.
I guess we should entering spoiler space here
for anyone who's listening to the podcast And
at this point if you have not seen the movie,
what's your goddamn problem? But okay. Yeah So
get out there and see it. Yeah, don't listen
to us What are you doing sitting here listening
to our podcast save us and put it aside and go
see the movie but anyways So pretty much the
movie opens up with optimist prime again talking
about You know, more back history of the race
of the Transformers and how they used to be on
Earth, you know, I think it was 12 ,100 BC or
something. I don't remember what the number was
exactly. And it's pretty much showing the building
of the mysterious object, which we would later
see as the Harvester, the Sun Harvester. And
we get a quick glimpse of what the Fallen is
and what he's doing there. But we're not told
that much about it or who this mysterious character
is. Just that the Transformers have met with
the humans once before and then accused to the
beginning of the actual movie itself Which then
started was it a million years ago? It was supposed
to be 12 ,000 BC if I remember correctly Something
like that because it couldn't be a million years
ago because there was humans so right There was
there was humans There wasn't humans 12 million
years ago anyways So what ends up happening is
that we have the start of the movie which a lot
of people regard as probably the best chunk of
the movie which is the first half hour or so
which starts where we're introduced to what's
going on now in the present and we're in Shanghai
and There's a mysterious gas leak that's going
on in the whole area and Shanghai is getting
evacuated, but we know what's really going on.
It's actually a big government cover up of a
new elite force that has been gathered by the
government called Nest, which is pretty much
a worldwide cooperation with the Autobots to
hunt down the remaining Decepticons. And it consists
of the Americans and they made a shout out to
the United Kingdom because we saw some guy with
a UK Flag on him. So it's clearly it's a multinational
force that's been put together And we're introduced
to some crazy scenes where we're shown the RC
triplets if you want to call them that chromia
moon racer and RC were introduced quickly to
skids and mudflap and their first appearance
also in the movie verse who are Actually first
appearing in their legendary ice cream truck
mode, which is the Decepticon sign suck my popsicle
My popsicle I hope people labels makes that for
the toy. Oh, they will clearly they will of course
Spencer is gonna get right on top of that. I
know that And we're also shown side swipe and
we're shown who else was a new addition to the
Autobots I think that was it at the moment You
had Jolt, but he didn't really do anything. If
you squint, Jolt is there. He was a last -minute
addition per request of Chevy. What ends up happening
is the humans with the Autobots at the moment
in the scene, which would be Ironhide, are tracking
a Decepticon. It's really cool because they kind
of play out Ironhide like G1. Hound, how he had
kind of like a sensing ability where he was a
tracker. A classic line from G1 Hound was, let
me loose prime and I'll sniff him out. And so
it was kind of cool to have Ironhide that also
kind of had... I guess I'm reading too much into
it, but it was kind of like I could smell them.
You know, it was just... It was a really cool
line. Yeah, yeah. Ironhide said, he's here. I
can smell him as he was transforming. And then
the soldiers got behind those barrels and they
were getting thermal readings. So there was a
thermal ripple of some mysterious thing. And
we are introduced to our first Decepticon in
the movie, which is... Commander Doomwheels.
Yeah, definitely. Or as I like to call him, the
bastard child of a Constructicon and Beast Machines
thrust. But anyways... Really? You don't like
Commander Doom wheels? You know what? He was
the first Voyager I bought and the only reason
why I bought him... I ended up buying all the
Voyagers in the end, but the reason why I picked
him above the others was because the others at
the time were just, well, repaints or slight
remolds. So he was a new mold and I wanted to
check that out. And he's not bad, but it's just
that... I find, to me, when you kind of go with
the wheel leg, you're just kind of being a little
lazy. But again, it's movie aesthetic, so I kind
of have to just accept that and move along. Yeah,
I got the toy just because of that shot where
he obliterates that overpass. We'll get to that
pretty much, and then we can all gush about it
after that scene ends. So what ends up happening
is he transforms and he Well, like you said,
he obliterates everyone, practically. He's knocking
barrels around, humans are getting squashed.
Yeah, trashing helicopters. Yeah, they send in
two helicopters, he trashes them. And then we're
introduced to a second Decepticon that also has
been hiding in the midst, which is Sideways,
who is sadly not named in the movie, just like
Demolishor. Sideways also engages and he starts
driving around. The RC Triplets chase after him,
and then we also see his robot mode for about,
I would say, 5 .2 seconds. He transforms, goes
through some Asian dude's house, and then transforms
back into vehicle mode. That's the last time
we'll see Sideways' robot mode for the rest of
the movie. Yeah, that was it. He basically was
driving while they were chasing him, like you
said, transformed, jumped through the house,
and went right back into car mode. So what we
pretty much saw in the trailer... But that was
it. Yeah. What about sideways first before you
continue? Go ahead. Is he a character from any
previous cartoon or where does he come from?
The story of sideways, the first actual debut
of the name of sideways was used in Armada. And
in Armada, the character Sideways was a double
agent. That's what he was played out to be originally.
He was a double agent that worked for both the
Autobots and the Decepticon, but he had some
kind of evil hidden agenda that we weren't aware
of in Armada. What ended up happening is we found
out that Sideways was nothing more than an empty
shell to house the spirit of Unicron. And pretty
much the whole point of Sideways was he was playing
both sides to lead to the revival of Unicron
in Armada. What ended up happening was the name
Sideways would be later on used for other characters
in the Unicron trilogy universe. A character
named Sideways appeared in the Cybertron series,
but was completely, even though they tried to
say it was the same character, it was completely
disconnected from that character. But that's
more due to the fact that the dubbing was incorrect.
And I always say this to anyone, when you watch
anything Transformers related, watch it in its
original language. If Beast Wars was made in
Canada, watch it in English. If G1 was made in
America, watch it in English. But if Armada was
made in Japanese, watch it in Japanese, find
some subtitles. Yeah, I agree with that. That
is definitely a good advice. Because the character
of Sideways in Cybertron was not actually Sideways,
it was a character named Noisemaze in Japanese.
And it was not related to that character at all.
But pretty much, again, going back to your original
question, the character has always been affiliated
with double agents and being someone who worked
for Unicron. So a typical thing Hasbro does is,
oh, no, the name is expiring soon. We've got
to put it on something. Oh, hey, here's a character
that's going to be in the movie for a bit and
then die. We'll just throw it on him. And that
way, it refreshes the name for copyright registration.
We could use it later. It's the same reason why
we'll be getting three years of characters named
Bludgeon even though it's clearly not Bludgeon
and then one day we'll get that great Bludgeon
figure but thank goodness because we kept the
name registered over all those years. I always
like hearing that information when they have
the posts on the front page of what they've trademarked
and registered or whatever. That always fascinates
me. I love hearing news like that. Like, I wonder
when they're going to use that name or who it's
going to be or how, you know? That's why whenever
people get angry about, oh, why did they call
that character that important name, there's a
reason for it. So like listeners, don't get angry
when a character is called Nightbeat and it's
nothing more than like an iPod that turns into
Laserbeak that's a repaint from the movie. There
is a reason for that because they needed to keep
the name fresh. So when they did the club exclusive,
it's the same thing with anything. I mean, we
got some pretty ugly sound waves over the year.
We got a beast war. You know, we got the Machine
Wars toy, which some people weren't too hot about,
but the whole reason behind it was we had to
keep that name fresh. We had to keep it, you
know, for a titanium toy in the future or for
a G1 reissue. I mean, we don't want to end up...
Yeah, everything. I mean, you have to realize...
If not for copyright tricks, I mean, look, we
lost Hot Rod, we lost Jazz. I mean, sure, now
we do the trick with Autobot Jazz, but back then
Hazard didn't really think about it. They called
him Meister at one point, his Japanese name,
you know? Yep. Yeah, I was just gonna say the
same thing. I was gonna say the same thing you
said, the Autobot Jazz or Autobot Hound. I think
they lost Hound too. Yeah, they lost a lot of
the really genericy names. They lost like gears,
you know or I Don't think I don't know if they
have Huffer anymore. Anyways going back to the
movie though So the character of sideways pretty
much he makes his appearance and they engage
side swipe who is this brand new concept Corvette
a really slick looking car and he shows up and
he's does an amazing scene this even though his
his appearances in the movie are limited he does
make a good impact he pretty much he does a giant
flip over sideways and shoots blasts him and
throws his blade into his engine bay and then
cuts him clean in half and as he does a flip
going over him lands grabs the blade and drags
it through him that was awesome And it was an
amazing scene. But sadly, and that is the end
of the sideways character in his, again, probably
three minutes of screen time that we pretty much
also already knew from the trailer. And then
it all ends with a, damn, I'm good. That was
a cool line when he said that. It was a cool
line and a lot of people sure got behind that
character after it. Then it falls up back to
still following Demolisher on his reign of destruction.
going down the highway now when uh... colonel
re uh... colonel apps says uh... bringing bring
in big buddha and we've had to the sky did they
say bigfoot? i think it was big buddha i thought
it was big kahuna oh big kahuna yeah that's what
i thought it was but i don't know anyways one
of the three but whatever it was yeah what ends
up happening is we end up getting this shot hundreds
upon hundreds of miles into the sky with a plane
not too much like the stratosphere toy that we'll
be getting later. The rear cockpit opens up and
lo and behold there is Optimus Prime ready to
engage and we are introduced to a beautiful scene
of Optimus Prime pretty much skydiving. from
truck mode to robot mode, then parachutes engaged
with little Autobot logos on them, to parachutes
cut off, to nosedive into the highway, then transform
back into truck mode, drives down the highway,
and cuts off Demolisher as he smashes through
the highway bridge. Might and I just want to
get comments around was that an amazing scene
or was that an amazing scene just that like 15
seconds I was speechless. I just I sat there
with my mouth hanging open like oh my god No,
the hell they did not just do that. Yeah, I was
like It was a really good opening for the movie
because a big worry a lot of people had was The
problem with the first movie was that it was
kind of a slow burn It took about an hour before
it really got I guess punchy but this one jumps
right into the action and I think that really
That really put it puts a good mark I put a good
mark on it for the bad story arcs later on. Well,
yes, of course. We'll get into that after. So
what ends up happening is Prime jumps on Demolisher's
face, which again, anyone who saw the original
trailer. And he's pretty much shooting the shit
out of him. They fall off the highway. And they
mess him up. And then we have all the army men
and the Autobots gather around a beat up. Pretty
much near -death demolish or and we have a cool
line, which I always love it when a transformer
swears We have iron hide say punk ass Decepticon
That was awesome. Yeah, that was awesome. That
was awesome I just want to remind everyone that
this movie had more swearing from transformers
than anything I've ever heard of before but great
stuff and that includes the Japanese stuff which
uses a lot of swearing too, but So then you know
demolish are pretty much beat up gives his warnings
and mentions of the fallen coming and of course
the autobots and the humans have no idea what
he's talking about and prime being uh... a very
different pride that we're used to silences uh...
demolish or and i would really like about this
movie prime is it shows that he does not mess
around you know he he will kill no problems if
it would have been movie prime In that same scene
in the original 1986 movie, he probably would
have shot right through Hot Rod to kill Megatron.
Oh yeah, then you're Rodimus fanboys and would
never... Oh yeah, of course. Of course, my whole
world would collapse. This movie Prime doesn't
mess around, and it really adds later to some
of the other fight scenes we'll see him engage
in later on in the movie. So then after that
scene, we then jump to something a little more
chipper. And now it deviates from the dark action
that we just saw. Sam's going to college. So
we're treated to more comedy scenes, the mom
going through the depression of Sam moving away.
And there's actually, there's a humongous full
circle that goes on in this movie that I'll mention
later. And it's actually, I don't know if I'm
just reading too much into it, either that or
Michael Bay's a little bit of a genius or maybe
it's Steven Spielberg. But I'm just going to
jump ahead quickly. In the first movie, there
was a mention of Sam joining the football team
and not getting on it very well. And of course,
getting his ass kicked. And at the end of the
first movie, we have Sam holding the cube, being
protected by his fellow quarterbacks, the Autobots,
as he runs across the battlefield. A very cool
symbolism there. What I noticed in the second
movie, which was another beginning and end symbolism
was at the beginning of the movie we have Sam
moving away and his father pretty much saying
you know go leave you know like you know get
out there on your own and near the end of the
movie we have his father yelling at him we have
to stick together we have to stay close you know
and then Sam wanting to go out on his own and
do it on his own and I thought it was really
cool how they did that like full circle like
they just did with the first movie also I know
Gary you who saw it Five times I must have picked
up on this. Oh, yeah Yep, he's a and he says
no you don't you don't you don't do this You
don't you don't know how you don't do anything
you run Bumblebee take them to safety. No, you're
coming with us. No, I have to do this dad I have
to do this Yeah, and it was really cool from
the beginning of the movie where it was like
the father was like go out be on your own now
And Sam was kind of like, oh, why do I have to
leave? And then it went the other way around.
So it was growth in the character. So anyways,
going back to the beginning of that scene. So
it's pretty much Sam's going to college. A lot
of little comedy scenes here and there, dogs
humping each other. I have to say something really
quick on this. Go right ahead. There was a post
on Twitter. I don't know if it was Malunas or
if it was General Techno that said this. Somebody
was making fun of ravage or something and then
they said something about Ravage dominating Frankie
while mojos underneath them or something was
something that included ravage into the dog humping
scene Somebody made a comment about it and I
was like, oh my god. No, they didn't Considering
how sharp ravages it would be pretty messy for
the other two but I Thought that was a bit excessive
but in my honest opinion Kids these days that
are 13 years old for PG -13 Are very well aware
of that kind of thing and they didn't show anything
It was kind of shown from the side. You saw no,
you know, so Honestly, I laughed my butt off.
I mean, I thought it was hilarious. Oh, yeah
You need some comic relief with the non -stop
action Yeah, it was put it was put in the movie
and it was done twice Actually, it was done on
the couch and then again near the doghouse Yeah,
right before it got blown up. I know that's not
gonna say the dog house got blown up. Oh, yeah
You know, but it's pretty much those kind of
scenes are put in because at Michael Bay if there's
one thing He knows is he knows his audience And
any kind of like this movie actually has quite
a bit of toilet humor in it And I mean I went
to multiple screenings and those ones always
got a laugh every time Right there excuse me
guys. I'm just getting over like severe like
You're right over there. I'm getting over some
conjunctivitis My I just had a water go down
the windpipe. Sorry about that. That's our problem
Little bit of night quill will be all right.
So what ends up happening is Sam gets a call
from Michaela. Michaela says they're going to
break up. Just to point out in this scene, I
found that the acting from Megan Fox in this
scene and a few other scenes in the movie were
kind of empty. She kind of had no emotion in
a lot of them, but I don't want to get picky.
That was my opinion. OK, let's go ahead and do
it. I agree with that. I agree with that. She's
not a good actor. i agree with it but let's go
into a comparison between the first movie in
this one okay for her first movie she was nothing
but eye candy the beginning of this movie she
was the same thing nothing but eye candy yeah
there was a few jokes between them or whatever
and yeah she got her heart broken when he was
out the thing that we'll talk about later that
i could not stand but anyway uh... you know but
at the end of the movie i thought she showed
up a little bit of a motion a little bit of acting
but not much what ends up happening is we were
treated to a scene where it's her back -and -forth
it would sound about how she should break up
and then sam convinces her oh i i made a long
-distance package for you any gives her a webcam
mentions the famous jersey that he wore when
he was running for megatron back in mission city
in los angeles And what ends up happening is
he finds a shard of the cube that must have broken
off when he pretty much lodged the cube into
Megatron's chest. He picks up the cube, he has
a mental breakdown and starts seeing symbols
like crazy. And then he drops it. The cube pretty
much goes through the floor, lands in the kitchen,
and we are introduced to about 20 Decepticon
characters. I have a question. Why is the cube...
always put out Decepticon energy? What ends up
happening, the explanation that we were given
is that when the Cube creates Autobots or Decepticons,
they all kind of start off mindless because they
have no, quote, spark. They're just sort of like...
They're just fighting for themselves all for
one? Well, when they first awaken, they just
kind of like violently, sporadically just attack
everything. And by Hasbro's definition, if they
start doing that, they're Decepticons. I mean
one of them that came of that was wheelie. So
Wheely was one of the one of the characters that
came of all of this too And we see how much he
develops as a character as opposed to the others
that are kind of mindless and I thought I was
gonna hate him. I ended up loving him Oh, I love
him too, but we'll get to him later. Yep So,
you know, we have the we have the toaster the
blender with a shooting penis we have a trash
compactor we have God what else we have a garbage
disposal we have a oh I can't even remember some
of the others but we had a lot oh yeah toast
the ejector who will be getting a toy later on
ladies yeah do you think that's a joke to how
someone when Michael Bay was first asked about
Soundwave he said something like to the effect
of a crass like voice like he's gonna be a toaster
I think it's more you have to realize that this
isn't the first toaster in transformers actually
and I know this sounds crazy, but it's true So
I don't think it's not so much I think it's just
Hasbro their design team wanting to really do
a transformer toaster You know just to do something
different. You can only do so many cars, you
know, and I think when we had the real gear line
where we got a lot of transformers that turned
into a lot of firsts, you know, PlayStation controllers
and iPods and binoculars and all kinds of crazy
stuff. I think with the end of that subline,
I think Hasbro with the second movie really wanted
to continue doing stuff like that. So I think
Ejector is the first of many of that to come
later down the line, I think. Who, and for those
who don't know, Ejector is the official name
of the toaster that was in the movie. Does he
have any discs that come out of that? Like that
pop out of like... From what from the looks of
it because it's a like a real gear Movie toy
meaning that it's approximately a little bit
smaller than a scout class or about the size
of a scout class I don't think he has any projectiles
I think he just kind of has like they just colored
in the filaments of the inside of the toaster
and it's it's a he's a very simple Transformation
they colored the filaments really like you know
what? Yeah, like the inside of the toaster like
they know what you mean I'm just I'm surprised
they did that detail Yeah because you know what
it is because he's more or less he's a giant
gray molded in plastics so they gotta throw the
budget of the paint somewhere and I guess it
went there. What pretty much happens after that
is Sam opens the door to his bedroom after he's
trying to extinguish the fire of this the cube
burning through his floor and he's introduced
all these crazy guys and miraculously doesn't
get shot in the middle of the middle south he
jumps out of his window yeah he avoids about
a million machine gun shots and jumps out the
window and then off of the second floor of his
house uh... And then his father is brought into
this. There's insane shooting going around. The
mom is introduced to yet another comedy scene
of obviously an inanimate waffle maker that was
attached to her head. She hits her head in the
process. And then in order to pretty much extinguish
all of these characters is Sam yells for Bumblebee.
Bumblebee makes his epic appearance. Shoot, shoot,
shoot. Cock his gun. Shoot again. And all of
them are dead. Hopefully except for one which
I think is only wheelie is the only one that
survived that and Bumblebee is scolded for coming
out of the garage by Sam's parents. He goes into
the garage and then Sam Pretty much tells Bumblebee
how he's going to college and Bumblebee gets
depressed because he can't come with Michaela
shows up Freshman can't have the car thing. Yeah,
something like that then, you know pretty much
there's some back and forth and there's blah
blah blah and She wants Megan Fox getting into
a white dress. Yeah, which didn't make much sense
there to me either. I was like, OK. Yeah, I didn't
get that. But he's going away. I guess I understand.
I guess she wanted to look pretty for him and
then take some flowers off her father's yard.
And I don't know. Anyways, so then there's the
scene where she wants him to say she loves him
and he dances around it. And that plays into
later in the movie. They say bye to each other
and they go their separate ways, but not before,
ominously, Wheely scans something in Michaela's
bag that Sam gave her, which was the Allspark
shard. And we move on to the next scene, which
is back to the army guys. I guess we don't really
need to give comment about the human scene that
we just saw before. What did you guys think?
It's comedy relief. It was kind of cheesy. Well,
the one problem I have throughout this entire
movie... Okay, the cars the robots name the cars
name is bumble be not just be I hated that Him
just calling it be I could not stand that I think
he was just trying to like nickname him or something
Well, that's I guess but I didn't like it but
that I mean if you've ever watched Beast Wars
It was notorious for that, especially every character
had a nickname and I mean literally every character
had a nickname in that show so I honestly didn't
mind it because it shows that they're close enough
to call each other to like a nickname Yeah, I
guess to create some kind of Connection, you
know that you want to show that they're good
friends. Yeah Where at the beginning of the movie
they were pretty much thrown together with each
other and then you had like, you know now this
technically they've been two years together now
so obviously a lot of transpired since then yeah
i have to know about the whole bumblebee thing
is the okay at the end of the first movie he
can talk you know he only has like one line throughout
this entire movie he does not talk whatsoever
he goes back to the radio thing i didn't get
any uh... what okay the explanation was originally
uh... when they were doing uh... this movie uh...
at the same time they were doing the uh... the
transformer ready to fall in games if you play
the games you will get the story line if bumblebee
still had his voice and you'll be kind of grateful
that he he didn't have his voice uh... because
they they put again though at the end of the
first movie he they kind of well bubble be they
kind of like a british accent or something going
on and they really elaborate that in the uh...
revenge of falling game he actually uh... that
he has the very British accent. And I guess maybe
Michael Bay wasn't too crazy about that. Maybe
a lot of people really warmed up to that miming
bumblebee that was kind of cute in the way that
he was more facial expression than vocal. And
so they pretty much went with the decision afterwards
to keep that. Okay, and just say that you know
his vocal processors still aren't working very
well right because that was edited out one of
the trailers We saw he actually said something
and it wasn't in the movie What yeah, it was
pretty much because when they were first like
doing stuff for the movie and you have to realize
and we learned this from from Peter Cohen and
Frank Welker when they were doing the auditions
for the first movie. The last thing that's added
to movies is voiceovers and soundtrack. It's
always the last thing in editing. And so when
they got around to it, if there was any scenes
where Bumblebee talked, it was obviously chosen
to not be put in there. But yeah, so we finished
that scene. We see Wheely. who's going to chase
after Michaela, we move back to the human forces.
And now it's pretty much their gathering in the
hangar. Skids and Mudflap are getting their new
upgrades into the two new modes that they chose.
We got a little characterizing. Not to interrupt
you, but did you mention Sam putting the shard
into a little metal tube and giving it to Michaela?
Yeah, I mentioned that, yes. Okay, I didn't hear
it, I'm sorry. I mentioned that he gave her a
little something secret that was the shard, you
know, that no one saw that he gave it to her,
you know, because he's not her parents. But yeah,
so... Now we're in a hangar back at something,
Diego, which is the headquarters of Nest. And
so we get a nice shot of all the new toys, pretty
much. We see the RC triplets. We see Skids and
Mudflap. We see everyone. And it's a really nice
shot, actually. And then we get some more. some
more pretty much backstory of what's going on
so they're hunting the Decepticons and they don't
know what they're looking for but they're still
here and then we're introduced to what every
action movie has which is authority douchebag
character in the first movie it was agent Simmons
although he did warm up to us as the movie progressed
and in the second movie it's now this guy who
whose name escapes me at the moment but he was
sent by the president to make sure that you know
all this shit goes right because the transformers
aren't doing the right thing and Pretty much,
it's a lot of back and forth, a lot of techno
babbles saying the Transformers aren't doing
their job. Maybe the Decepticons are just there
to hunt them rather than look for something important.
And it all pretty much just ends with a scene
where we just get... And it was probably the
only cool thing about that scene, really, aside
from the nice shot of all the new quote toys,
was the line between Optimus Prime and this agent
douchebag whatever, which was, if the Decepticons
don't leave... He said to Optimus, if we ask
you to leave, will you leave peacefully? And
he goes, freedom is your right. If you make that
request, we will leave. But before your president
chooses, ask him this question. What if we leave
and you're wrong? Exactly, yeah, and then we
get this like you know dark ominous shadow on
optimus prime don't forget also Soundwave has
just appeared in the sky and I asked the military
satellite while that's going on. Yeah, I've got
that transmission Yeah, oh, yeah, and that's
what I forgot to mention while all this was going
on Soundwave hacked one of the US satellite dishes
used by the army and the agent blatantly mentioned
where NB1 is, aka Megatron, where the other AllSpark
shard is that Optimus Prime picked up from Megatron's
corpse in the first movie. Soundwave right away,
just by the blather of this agent, right away
pinpointed the locations of two of the most important
things. Just a quick note on Soundwave, the head
that is used on Soundwave, oddly enough, is not
the head that's used for the satellite mode.
in the toy. I guess when they were designing
the toys, and again the toy of Soundwave was
a preview toy, so it was one of the first toys
engineered, they couldn't decide on what head
they were going to use for the movie. And so
pretty much picture the satellite mode of Soundwave
using the robot mode head from the robot mode
of the toy. It's kind of like an amalgam of the
two. And his voice, which to a lot of 80s fans,
it was Frank Welker. who did the voice of Soundwave
in the original G1, and he did his voice here
too. Dr. Claw, but that's how he originally did
it. Yeah, and pretty much, yeah, it was Dr. Claw
from Inspector Gadget, but there was one episode
of G1 where Soundwave wasn't, quote, synthesized
when he talked, and I believe it was the episode
Roll For It, and he sounded like Dr. Claw. There's
actually a few of them. There isn't just one.
There's a couple where SoundWave's voice is off
in G1. There you go. Yes. And it sounds like
Dr. Klaus. So people could be like, that's not
SoundWave. No, that's actually quite accurate.
SoundWave before they vocoded his voice with
a synthesizer. Yep. There you go. Exact same
voice. Exactly, but it would still have been
cool to have gotten this I mean, I like the sound
wave voice in the movie I have no problems with
it, but it still would have been cool as hell
to get the vocoder voice which I also I also
find that kind of weird that they didn't go with
that angle because even the most casual of casual
transformer fans especially the the 18 to 25
year olds or 18 to 30 year olds that are going
to see the movie Even if they don't know a lot
about G1, one of the most defining aspects of
the Decepticons was Soundwave. Everyone remembers
Soundwave and everyone remembers that voice.
Oh yeah, very much so. Everyone remembers Starscream
and the screechy voice, everyone remembers Megatron
because he was the gun, everyone remembers the
tape guy with his crazy voice. And I find it
kind of weird that they didn't go with that angle.
Do you think they're saving it for robot mode?
It's a possibility, it's a possibility that maybe
because, and I guess I could just mention this
now, the three surviving Decepticons by the end
of this movie are the three heavy hitters, Soundwave,
Starscream, and Megatron. So it's a possibility
that maybe he'll just get upgraded for the next
movie and then we'll be given... That voice and
we'll get something that's more sound wavy. I
guess in especially in terms of aesthetics I've
really got to admit though with Welker's age
it got even better and it was so menacing and
so awesome. Oh, yeah Of course, I would have
wanted it to be vocoded but i mean it sounded
that i have to say i'm just glad that he's in
the movie regardless of the voice regardless
of its doctor claw whether it's the vote -coded
versions i'm just glad he got to be a part of
it because well yes and and the best part about
that little that little thing about it is that
when you watch this movie aside from calling
there's no one really else giving you eighties
transformers and hearing the doctor kaw frank
welker is that little nostalgic feeling you get
watching sound wave in the movie you still have
you know that piece of the history still there
in the movie ever muscle which is pretty cool
and as well as the interaction in this movie
compared to movie one with star scream and megatron
star screams got a more g one s voice and interacting
with like megatron oh yeah around like you get
that piece of trash we're gonna get to that i
uh... so what it's about actually have to go
back a little bit There was another funny scene
for me anyway within the government scene when
the government douchebag is like talking to Eps.
He's like, soldier, all you're supposed to do
is shoot and do this and whatever else. And Eps
kind of mumbles like, oh, I wish I could shoot
you right about now. And Prime's like, easy,
easy. He says, don't tempt me. Yeah, he's like,
don't tempt me. Prime's like, easy, easy. And
I thought it was really funny. Yeah, there was
a lot of. Good development early on in the movie.
It's kind of a shame a lot of the reviewers I
think I think because the movie ran so long they
kind of forgot about how good the movie started
at least It started on some really it hit a lot
of buttons. It was really good So then we move
on to the next scene which is I believe Soundwave
engage it. No, it's it's Sam arriving at college.
Okay So then Sam arrives at college again, we're
queued to another human scene, so Sam's in college,
his mom is being loud and boisterous as always,
and Sam is introduced to his roommate. And his
roommate is, oh god, what's his name, Leo? Yeah,
and so Leo, who's a techie and a conspiracy theorist,
and he has a Naruto poster on his wall and bad
boys. And what was that other movie there, that
disaster movie with that mysterious monster?
The Day the Earth Stood Still? No, no, no, it
was a recent movie. Well, that's the most recent
one. The Island? It was a disaster movie where
it had this monster, but we didn't see what the
monster was in all the trailers. Cloverfield
Monster? Cloverfield, thank you. Oh, OK. Yeah,
Cloverfield. So you had a poster of Cloverfield.
All these disaster movies and stuff and everything
on the wall. And of course Michael Bay blatant
bad boys. Yeah advertising. Yeah, I thought that
was funny once I I actually didn't notice the
bad boys poster until Sam started writing all
over it So what is it happens we're introduced
to Leo and Leo is pretty much Sam's annoying
sidekick who will be in the movie a semi comic
relief Which every I guess every kind of movie
needs it has to always have some character that
makes the main character look cooler by contrast
And so we're introduced to Leo, who's a conspiracy
theorist and believes in aliens and the government
is covering up everything. And Sam and him kind
of have a pow wow. But it pretty much leads up
to introduction to another mysterious character,
which is a mysterious female by the name of Alicia.
I thought it was Alice. Leo calls her Alicia
in like two scenes, so I'm just going to assume
it's that. What ends up happening is there's
this mysterious blonde who seems to be shadowing
Sam for no reason whatsoever. If you're a viewer
who doesn't know anything about the plot, we
can only assume that she's just interested. But
that's all we know at the moment. What ends up
resulting of all of this is Sam's mom eats some
brownies from some dreadheads. Ends up getting
high Starts talking some crazy stuff more comedy
scenes left and right which pretty much ends
with Them leaving and then Sam getting ready
to pack up in his room we then jump to which
would be just really pull up the Truly pull up
the synopsis to so I could get make sure everything's
correct. I believe it's the engaging of ravage.
Yes it's the passing of i believe is next sound
wave then now has completely pinpointed the location
of the all spark shard so he engages ravage who
to my knowledge has was not named in the movie
he just shoot some out which is a nice little
touch concerning you know to have an ejected
out of him by any way was pretty cool So Ravage
crashes into the water on the side of the beach
of this mysterious Area 51 -S headquarters and
he makes his first appearance and he dashes forward
towards it. It's a very cool scene actually and
then he breaches it and he spits up all these
little, I guess you could call them, I don't
know, little nanobots or whatever. that end up
combining to make a larger blade -like Decepticon.
What was his name? There's no official toy of
it. Within the fandom, there's a lot of speculation.
My personal opinion, and only because I'm just
being completely fan -wanky about it, is because
of the way that the dinosaur, well it looks like
a dinosaur, and the way it walks, And because
it was something that was quote ejected from
Soundwave or ejected from Ravage. I believe in
this minions I say it's one of the tapes and
there was a tape that I'm not referring to overkill
the I'm not I'm not referring to either rap at
either there was a in the in the Japanese continuity
Soundwave had an extra dinosaur cassette by the
name. Well, it wasn't Sally was actually an Autobot
cassette, but it was a cassette. Nevertheless,
there was a cassette by the name of dial That
kind of was like one of those miniature velociraptor
-like dinosaurs. And so I'm like, oh, it's movie
-verse dial. But there is no real official name
for this character, although maybe Hasbro will
give us something down the line. But all we know,
it's a walking bag of knives, that's for sure.
But still, what I'd like to comment on is I love
how they kept Soundwave. having his minions shooting
ravage out and stuff like that. Oh, of course.
That was the must. They had to have something.
Yeah, I'm just glad that they did it. You know
what I mean? And considering that he survives
at the end of the movie and that it seems that
minions could just be ejected from anywhere because
they're pretty much like missiles, at least in
a reference to the toy, that means that we could
get more minions down the line if worse comes
to worse, you know? Oh, yeah. We could get a
rumble to add to the frenzy. We could get a rat.
It opens up all kinds of possibilities. Yep.
So that's something to look forward to. So what
is happening is this little thing steals the
shard. The army men go inside to see what the
hell's going on because there's a breach. This
little bag of knives goes right through a guy's
chest. He runs around, avoids getting killed.
Meanwhile, Ravage on the outside is using, again,
a nice nod to the G1 Ravage. He has two hip weapons,
which in this case are rocket launchers and machine
guns, to pretty much distract the humans while
he lets his little fellow buddy of Soundwave
escape. And they escape with the shard. I have
to say about Ravage when he wrapped his mouth
around the pipe. I didn't think he was spitting
stuff down, and I thought he was sucking stuff
up it. Yeah, that's what I that's what I thought
at first and I realized oh wait there's stuff
coming out of his mouth, okay Yeah, that was
really interesting how that was done And you
know the whole combining thing throughout the
movie. I like how that was executed It was it
was very it wasn't explained. It was still cool
Well, I can actually get into that a little bit
more later because Hasbro ended up doing a whole
bunch of like explanations afterwards and we'll
get into that when we get to Devastator. Okay,
what is the next scene that we have after Soundwave
and Ravage and all that goodness? Okay, so after
the Soundwave and Ravage scene we end up having
pretty much the revival of Megatron. So they
end up taking the Shard and they go to the Laurentian
Abyss where all the Americans are and they're
all guarding the body. And we get a quick pretty
much shot of all the Constructicons together
that have been hiding on one of the boats near
the Laurentian Abyss. Just to let everyone know
though, Hasbro has stated this, that there's
actually two sets of Constructicons that exist
in the continuity. One set that transforms and
one set that was purely designed to combine with
Devastator. In the movie verse continuity, the
Devastator combiner does not have Constructicons
that could that separate into individual characters
Even though there is a toy out there the easy
Devastator from Japan that we will we will be
getting later that says otherwise That's gonna
be a mini Devastator. Oh, that's the mini one.
I thought that was the hundred dollar one that
doesn't transform Because yeah, because according
to the continuity there's two separate teams
of Constructicons and one of them exists solely
to create Devastator, which obviously had, I
guess, Megatron planned this to have a specific
purpose which would be to dig up the Harvester,
but we'll get into that after. So we move on
to the next scene where it's the revival of Megatron
and we have... We have Ravage and company pretty
much diving into the water to get to Megatron's
body. Now there was an argument in the boards
here and I guess I'll clear this up for everyone.
A lot of people were complaining how when they
went underwater the US military picked up five
signals and when they came up there were six
and that doesn't make any sense. The explanation
for this is that when they went down it was Ravage
and a whole bunch of constructicons. Obviously
Ravage, he ejects another member. His name is
Scalpel and I guess we could call him the Doctor,
the German Doctor Decepticon. When he ejects
him, obviously that ups it to six now. Now, what
ends up happening is the doctor says they need
parts to revive Megatron. And you see the Decepticons
kill one of their own. We're not sure which Constructicon
it is. The assumption on the boards is that it's
the character Overlord, who was a payload truck.
That's the assumption that that's the one that
gets killed. And then they use his parts because
also Overlord is gray. We're all making big assumptions
here. uh... to that help rebuild megatron and
then when megatron is built now we're definitely
at six people because we have the other construct
-a -cons ravage the doctor scalpel and megatron
and so they all head up megatron is now revived
due to the all spark shard being shot into his
chest and he is back and then megatron's first
order of business is to get all the way to the
moon of saturn which is titan and uh... where
the Nemesis, which again, none of this is named
but only in the novel, where the Nemesis is waiting,
where Starscream is. And we are treated to a
gorgeous display of characterization that we
are familiar with from the G1 story, which is
Starscream and Megatron, and their normal banter.
So I guess I'll let Gary take it from here because
it was a pretty damn good scene. What I really
liked about it is how, you know... much more
G1 sounding Starscream was to begin with and
the interaction was very G1 -esque I mean very
much you know for the fans I mean that was all
about the G1 like you know Megatron just you
know cursing him up and down like a piece of
crap and he's totally kissing his butt like but
almighty Megatron you know I really like that
that was great not to mention Starscream in his
place replacing him while he was dead you know
And him saying, oh, only until you're... Yeah,
even in death, there is no command but mine,
yep. It was all very well done, and I'm glad
they went in that direction, considering how
a lot of people were worried how the character
of Starscream was going to be handled in the
movie. The video games, especially the first
movie video games, fleshed out the characters
that they hated each other and that Starscream
did have plans to usurp him one day, and he was
very... It was very G1 in character, but sadly
we didn't get that in the movie. So it was nice
to see this being done and it was pretty just
enjoyable. A lot of people, I remember in the
crowd, went nuts when they saw that finally the
character was being done how he was supposed
to be done. They did them justice, yeah exactly.
Because in my opinion, when it comes to Decepticons...
There's only specific ones that have a really
high tier of memorability. And it's pretty much
a Starscream, Megatron, Soundwave, and the Constructicons.
And everything that exists outside of that, in
my opinion, when it comes to a casual fan, is
not rememberable. I mean, ask a casual to remember
Skywarp, or what his character was, or Thundercracker,
or Astro Train, or Octane. I mean, yes, they
are good characters, but... you'd have to be
you know no one will casually could tell you
what what is thundercracker's cat like character
what do we expect of thundercracker most of them
are kind of just brutish decepticons that kill
kill kill so it was really nice to see characters
like Starscream being given the justice he deserves
and I don't know who to thank for this whether
it be the writers or see or or even Michael Bay
for wanting that to be like that but just good
job on whoever it was And pretty much in this
scene, so we're treated to the Starscream Megatron
banter and Megatron thrusting, you know, throwing
them around. And then we're introduced yet again
to the Fallen. And the Fallen at the moment seems
to be incapacitated as he's not able to move.
For people who are a little confused, and I don't
blame them for this. I was myself. The comic
books kind of flesh it out more for us. And the
funny thing too, the Burger King toy that's out
of The Fallen helps us a little bit too. The
Fallen was actually encased in a sarcophagus
of some kind, or I guess a monolith or whatever
you want to call it, shaped like the Decepticon
logo that he was captured in many years ago by
the other Primes. The movie didn't tell us this
at all. They tell us that that he was sealed
away, but they never really went into the specifics.
Over the years, the fallen Soli was able to break
away from his prison as the generations of Primes
decreased until there was only one left. But
he was still, I guess, incapacitated. What ends
up happening is his incapacitated form was then
carried to the moon of Titan, which is where
Starscream and the Nemesis ended up residing.
And that's where we have him now. So for those
who are confused or why he's just like that and
why he isn't doing anything, that's kind of what's
going on right now. So we end up being introduced
to him. We get this whole Darth Vader to the
apprentice kind of relationship between Megatron
and the Fallen. Which I hated. Yeah, a lot of
people thought that was kind of cheesy. Again,
if you want to... get an idea of who this fallen
character is in the actual large scope of it.
The fallen in the G1 continuity was pretty much
the equivalency of Unicron. He was pretty much
the equivalency in the biblical terms of, oh
God, what is the name of Lucifer? Thank you.
Where he was a fallen angel. pretty much because
primus the god of the transformers created his
original thirteen transformers who are all primes
which movie mentions too but one of them betrayed
primus and uh... he would forever be known as
the fallen and he betrayed primus to quote the
devil who was unicron and so that's who the fallen
was in g one he was pretty much a betrayer of
his people and very powerful and very dangerous
And they kind of went along the same vein with
this one, where he was a betrayer of his people,
but not so much to his god, but to his own brothers.
And I'll get into my speculations for movie three
and how it relates to the Fallen afterwards,
but anyways, it's just to mention this now to
remember later. So what ends up happening is,
so he says that, you know, we have to kill the
Prime, we have to, you know, because when the
Prime is dead, then I'll be free to fight. and
only a Prime could stop him, and then, you know,
pretty much the Fallen also tells him that, you
know, even though the AllSpark is destroyed,
that the energy, the location of the Matrix of
Leadership and the Sun Harvester is still in
the mind of this boy. So Megatron sets off to
find him. What ends up happening is then we go
to another scene. which is back with Sam in college
and that's his astronomy class where we are introduced
to his over exuberant astronomy teacher who seems
to be enjoying having sex with his younger students
but I'll get into that another time. The teacher
is giving his opening speech for the first day
of class and Sam starts having a mental breakdown
He starts reading his entire astrology book,
which actually plays into the story of the movie
later he reads an entire astrology book in 30
seconds and then starts questioning the Starts
questioning the the theories of Einstein saying
how it's incorrect and if you actually listen
to it carefully He starts explaining how energon
has to do with transformation He actually is
trying to bring up points of transformer technology
and how it's more complex than the basics of
E equals MC square of Einstein, yada yada yada.
He gets kicked out of class. He then picks up
the phone, he calls Michaela and tells him about
the mental breakdown and Michaela pretty much...
Oh, I actually forgot to mention one thing. Okay.
Prior to him calling Michaela though, there was
another scene which was the kegger. Oh yeah.
And all that really transpires in that one is
Sam goes to a kegger with his newfound roommate
Leo. He then has another encounter with this
Alicia girl. The Alicia girl gets very aggressive.
Sam ends up standing up Michaela on their web
chat that they were supposed to have because
of this kegger. uh... bumblebee shows up at the
kegger because some shit is going down uh...
there's a little exchange again sam make some
funny jokes find a tighter shirt for the job
you know there's no tighter shirt we've looked
at is that i don't you think that uh... and then
he got to the car will be but not without alicia
inviting herself into the car too now it's assumed
i think but will be those that That at least
he has a Decepticon or something because I don't
think Bumblebee would willingly Almost try to
break the skull of a human being inside the car.
Yeah, but it led to some really funny scenes
Especially with the choice of music by Bumblebee.
Yeah, you're cheap and hard and then super freak
super freak by Rick James All really really good
stuff so she ends up she ends up Getting coolant
sprayed in her face and she runs away And that
ends that scene Then we move again. We go straight
to the next day, which is with the astronomer.
I was gonna be with his astrology class He has
the mental breakdown. He calls Michaela Michaela
is not happy about About him standing her up,
but then he tells her. Oh my god. I'm having
a mental breakdown. Where's the charge? She's
like it's safe and we enter the first transformation
of the character of wheelie Yes. Now we're introduced
to Wheely, and Wheely is a very Joe Pesci -esque
character, a very street -wise Brooklyn, New
York kind of decepticon as he starts out. And
he's looking for the cube. And so he ends up
getting found by Michaela, who's trying to crack
into the safe to get it. And she ends up torching
one of his eyes. I love that scene. And he calls
her a crazy bitch and 30 seconds swear word by
a transformer So what ends up happening is she
ends up putting them in this big like I guess
you could call it I don't know like Cooler or
something and he heads and she had straight for
Sam's location. She jumps on the first plane
to the East Coast and so what ends up happening
is then Sam ends up going back to his bedroom
or whatever his room when he just starts writing
symbols again like crazy and he just can't control
it and then Leo's on the way to his room and
he flanks Alicia who's looking for Sam and she
ends up finding him in his room and then she
sees that he wrote all the symbols and she gives
this look at him and then we as the audience
know that there's more to her that meets the
eye where she tries to make out with him And
then we see her tail, gratuitous panty shot that
we get. And then, obviously, as lo and behold,
like most movies, this is when Michaela shows
up and sees them making out. She goes to walk
out. Sam tries to chase after her. And Alicia
reveals herself to be a pretender, which is a...
transformer in disguise as a human. Although
the way that the pretender is handled is different
than the Japanese or the American comic book
incarnations that have done previously. I'd hate
to say it, but this reminded me more of the Terminator
3 Terminator. Yes. Yes. Very much so. Same thing.
Actually I... Very much... Oh yeah. I think it's
actually a combination of the Terminator 3 chick
and Natasha Henstridge in Species. Quite possibly.
Yeah, I see what you're talking about transforminators.
Yeah Oh, yeah, I saw the transforminators everyone
Now they're stealing all our sand Anyways, so
she ends up transforming we learned that Sam
when he's really scared does a girly scream Yeah,
she starts shooting like crazy. They end up in
a library lots of explosions. They're running
away from her and they end up hot -wiring a car
to escape from her. She ends up jumping onto
the car, again, very Terminator -esque, getting
into a car while the Terminator jumps onto the
car, which has been done in all three Terminator
movies. I haven't seen the fourth one, so I don't
know, but I'm pretty sure that probably happens
at some point. Oh, it does? Well, there you go.
Interestingly enough, she gets killed pretty
easily by just Michaela ramming right into a
pole. Now interesting thing uh... mckayla runs
into the poll head -first completely destroys
the front and by the way i'm a mechanic so it
is that point this out uh... and the airbags
don't go off and now you are still runs that
would never have had a life what at the car still
right but the airbags don't go off that's what
bothered me now then as they're driving away
uh... mysterious helicopter which we all learned
later is to be grind or which is not uh... to
be mixed up with blackout from the first movie
grind or is actually a lighter blue repaint of
grind or it has some modifications to his body
uh... his uh... popular by it's a different from
uh... from blackout but grind or ends up picking
up up the entire car and bringing sam uh... michaela
and leo to a pseudo decepticon hq that megatron
is that And when he drops them and they land
headfirst after what could be probably a 15 story
drop from the sky Then the airbags go off Which
then which helps them from surviving their fall
from 15 stories in the car So whoever invented
that car great great work there the pole didn't
stop him, but the 15 story drop set off the airbags
anyways What ends up happening is Sam is pinned
down, we get the whole Megatron Remember Me scene,
and then the Doctor Scalpel shows himself again,
and we're introduced to some kind of bored brain
thingy from Star Trek. That was pretty horrific
right there. Yeah, it was pretty nasty. A lot
of people in the audience too were pretty cool
about that. I didn't mind it so much, but even
so, just to watch it was like, oh man, you could
feel the pain, you know? Oh yeah, filling up.
And so what ended up happening was the alien
goes into his brain and then comes back out and
then the doctor projects images of the location
of the harvester. And while they have the location
of the harvester, they lack the location of a
mysterious key. So the doctor insists that they
more so continue and cut into Sam's brain to
get the rest of the information. What ends up
happening is before this ends up going down Optimus
shows up and so does bumblebee and supposedly
some other Autobots, but they are outside of
the Outside of the complex now prime shows up
and this isn't the prime that we knew from the
first movie again This prime is here to kick
ass. Yes, and he beats up stars beats up he beats
up megatron no problem we get a beautiful slow
-motion shot of him holding his gun and then
blasting megatron through a wall prime is here
to kick some serious ass in this movie he is
he's definitely learned in the two years since
the first movie how to kick some butt so what
is happening megatron is shot through the wall
and sam makes his escape with bumblebee What
ends up happening, oh excuse me, Bumblebee makes
his escape with Leo and Michaela while Sam goes
into Optimus Prime to escape. They end up finding
themselves in the forest, there's a big skirmish
and another glorious fight scene by Optimus Prime
begins. It's even more glorious than IMAX, that
action footage. We end up having Optimus, Grindor,
Optimus against Grindor Starscream and Megatron
and just if this scene could be slowed down in
all its framerate glory You could see the amazing
choreography that is done of Optimus Prime's
battles how he managed like how he like he grabs
one guy kicks the other and you know, he's just
Amazing job by ILM who did this scene like absolutely
incredible And again, this optimist doesn't mess
around. He's breaking legs. He's ripping arms
off. He's ultimately in the end, Grindor's face
is ripped in half. Mech fluid is everywhere.
There's fluid. First movie didn't have no fluid,
let me tell you. But this one, there's fluid
all over the place. It's just horrific and grotesque
and amazing. But ultimately, sadly, due to all
of this, Megatron ends up... Getting the best
of prime and running them through from behind
and then shooting point -blank well inside him
And we are treated to what we all believe and
especially people like me who avoided every single
kind of spoiler Yeah, me too. Um too and that's
why I thought I thought I thought oh boy They're
killing them off now To lead to something in
the third movie. That's what at least that's
what was going through my mind because I was
hoping honestly well what happened i was hoping
that they would fix what happened in eighty six
oh possibly see that i mean like primed eyes
and then this time we're going to bring back
to life we're not going to die uh... because
of that afterwards my friends that came with
me who are also big t trans fans shout out to
freedom gundam on the boards They mentioned oh
well because they saw the jet fire toy and so
they knew that he has to combine at some point
So he can't be dead yet, you know, so I have
a clue. I wasn't aware of that Did we leave a
scene out? No, we didn't I have the whole synopsis
in front of me Okay, because I could have sworn
the funeral scene was before this. Not the funeral,
but the cemetery scene with him and Sam, with
Prime and Sam. Oh, yeah. There was a brief scene
that happens when Bumblebee picks him up from
the kegger. Right. He just tells him, you know,
that we need an ambassador. Yeah, yeah, it's
not my war. It's not my war, and then that was
it, pretty much. And he didn't explain why this
is more than you imagine. That's it. Yeah. and
he didn't mention this he didn't mention seeing
the symbols to optimus either yet at this point
yeah uh... so we're treated to what we believe
is a prime dead scene now that now that optimus
prime is presumed dead uh... the fallen now is
free of his incapacitation the autobots conveniently
show up at this point and rescue sam but the
damage has been done starscream and uh... megatron
retreats and the fallen is now free Before we
go to the next scene, how do you guys feel about
this death scene? I felt it was very emotionless
for me. The whole scene, that whole forescene
was amazing. The fight was amazing, even the
death, it was emotional because, again, As a
trans fan who avoided all spoilers, I thought
this was some serious shit. I'm pretty sure for
a lot of casual people in the audience who didn't
know any better, it could have been some serious
shit also. I didn't know what was going to happen.
I stayed spoiler -free except previews. I remember
going into the first movie and people were speculating
what if Prime dies in this one. But me saying,
oh, there's no way in hell they'll kill him in
the first one. But I was kind of thinking, oh,
at this point, it's a possibility. Now the casual
people are emotionally connected with this character
from the first movie. If they do kill him off,
it will make an impact. And it did. And it was
gloriously done. And I think the only thing that
bothered me about it was when they airdropped
him. his carcass. They shouldn't have dropped
him. I remember even my girlfriend turned over
to me and she's like, they just dropped him just
like that in the middle of the movie. And I was
like, yeah, I know, fucking humans. For me. Yeah,
but he's a transformer. He's not going to bust.
Yeah, I guess it's funny. Because I was under
the impression that his tires aren't made out
of rubber. They're Cybertronian material. The
glass is not really glass. That it that we could
assume that it's just I remember later in the
movie when they airdrop his body again this time
They actually deploy parachutes Later on in Egypt
when he's alive. Yeah No, no, no later on in
the movie. Oh Really? Oh when they bring them
in after they get to eject their little liaison.
Yes anyways so What ends up happening is now
that you know? Everything is is free. So Megatron
meets up with Starscream There's another beautiful
Starscream Megatron scene where he he hit Starscream
with his own arm and just a great scene overall
yet again the Frank of not Frank Walker of Hugo
weaving doing a great job with With what's -his
-name who played spongebob? Yeah Kenny no. Oh,
no, was it Tom Kenny? I thought it was Charlie
Excuse me, Tom Kenny played Spongebob in Animated.
My bad. Who played Starscream? You mean he played
Starscream in Animated? No. Well, wait. I thought
Charlie Adler was Starscream in the movie. You
might be right. I'm not too sure. Tom Kenny was
not Starscream. I thought so at first, but he's
not. So either way, we're treated to another
great scene. And then it leads to now the Decepticons
are showing themselves. Again, we're shown the
trailer scenes of all the Decepticons landing
and destroying and wreaking havoc. It's about
a good five -minute montage of their arrivals
all over Earth in different locations. They arrive
in France and they kidnap Sam's parents. I believe
a lot of people are speculating the character
that kidnaps Sam's parents. A lot of people are
saying, oh, it was Barricade. but we're not too
sure because it's kind of iffy. When we get the
DVD, I'm sure we'll be able to like look it over
frame by frame and be able to tell. I mean, Barricade
is officially quote dead in the movie continuity,
but who knows? So, you know, what ends up happening
is Sam's parents are in France. They get kidnapped
by the Decepticons. A whole bunch of other Decepticons
show up. The Fallen... makes his appearance on
earth yet again, saying that he will finally
get his revenge. And then Megatron commandeers
some kind of electrical communication device
and the Fallen does his worldwide message that
they have to find Sam and that he must be brought,
that the Decepticons are here, yada yada yada.
Meanwhile, Sam along with Skids and Mudflap and
Bumblebee find refuge in some abandoned warehouse.
There's another emotional scene where it's, you
know, Michaela's finally able to hold him and
cry, and Sam blames himself for the death of
Optimus Prime. I guess we could call Sam Hot
Rod, I don't know. No, no, no, wrong, wrong,
eh, wrong, no. I would call him Hot Rod, yeah,
anyways. So what ends up happening is we're treated
to some good skids and mudflap scenes. But flat
calling him a pussy, you know again great to
hear the transformer swearing just great stuff
A lot of people aren't too crazy about the twins,
but I thought they were a welcome they weren't
overdone Yeah, they weren't that bad They weren't
as bad as everybody thought they were gonna be
or everybody made them out to be Yeah, you know
cuz I think they were too scared of the aesthetics
of them to actually accept the characters that
they were And they were just there to be fun
Anyways, so what ends up happening? There's more
discussion. They talk about what they got to
do, and then Leo ends up looking at his phone
and seeing how now Sam is on the loose and there's
a hunt. Then Sam talks about the symbols on his
arm to the twins, and twins mention how, well,
they know it's Cybertronian, but they don't know
how to read. And so they're like, well, we've
got to find someone that does. And then Leo suggests
a character named Robo Warrior, who supposedly
has been scooping Leo on his own. Alien finds
oh yeah, so they go to find Robo warrior and
lo and behold Robo warrior is agent Simmons from
the first movie now Who has lost his job from
Sector 7? But he stole a whole bunch of shit
before he left But he stole practically the entire
archive and what I consider the world's largest
basement I have ever seen it might as well be
a bunker exactly not tell my mother Oh, and by
the way, for those who don't know, if anyone
has seen Street Fighter the later years, which
was a college humor parody, the character with
the bad teeth that was cutting meat in the butchery,
or whatever you want to call it, who was working
to get new pair of teeth, the brown dude, that
was the guy who played Dhalsim. Oh wow. It's
a little, it's a really, I remember when I first
saw the movie, I was like, oh my god, it's the
Dhalsim guy. Anyways, it's a long stretch, but
it was that character. And on that note, I think
we're going to take a quick break because I'm
coming up on time and I don't want my computer
to mess up again, so... Intermission. Yes, intermission.
Intermission. We'll put some commercial. we're
back from break i don't know what we're gonna
put in that break if we put anything i don't
know uh... so yeah commercial and that's true
and what one of the rare PSA's from d one that
it that i think there are laws voice to septicons
mobilize this time so we were told you know you're
going through uh... the Simmons seen and i gotta
say before we go further with the actual synopsis
actually Simmons kinda grew on me in this form
more than the last one cuz he was yeah he wasn't
such a douchebag The other guy was more of the
douchebag in this one. Well you know why. You
know why that is? Probably paid him more money.
Well no, he didn't have the do what you want
and get away with it badge. So we move on to
Agent Simmons' basement, who apparently after
Sector 7 closed down, he pretty much emptied
out the entire archive. And conveniently has
a nice little trophy of Frenzy's head still,
which is apparently still radioactive, according
to him. And so Sam ends up showing him the symbols
and we're then treated to what? Agent Simmons
knows is the dark secret of the Transformers
past that they've been around for many years
and they've always been on earth and how there
is multiples and multiples of the ancients that
are still on earth somewhere and so they end
up pulling out Wheely out of his little freezer
case or whatever and then Wheely reads some of
the symbols and says oh well some of these ancients
are still around So he shows a map and then they
go to the closest one which happens to be the
arrow and space museum in Where exactly I forget
Washington DC Washington DC. Thank part of the
Smithsonian's Smithsonian. That's correct. Okay,
so our space museum so they end up going there
and They go there and they sneak in and we're
treated to more comedy scenes with Leo trying
to use a taser and ends up tasing himself Oh,
that was so funny. More than once. How many times
can you get T's in that you can't have kids?
That was hilarious. And what ends up happening
is they go through the aerial section and they
end up finding out that the gigantic blackbird
in the center of of the museum is a ancient transformer
and they end up using the AllSpark shard to revive
him and find out that it is a Decepticon and
they freak out. But lo and behold, this Decepticon
is Jetfire and is not too keen about the Decepticon
way and has became an Autobot. Which is actually
again going to a cue of the G1. Jetfire was not
so much a Decepticon, but he was a neutral originally
and a scientist. He was a scientist with Starscream,
yep. But due to being good friends with Starscream,
he ended up joining the Decepticons due to ignorance
and ended up becoming an Autobot due to believing
in the Autobot way over to Decepticon, which
was a nice touch that they did that. I really
liked that because, not to go off topic, but
on the toy cast. My last week's pick was G1 Jetfire.
Which is perfect. And I just found Revenge of
the Fallen Jetfire at Walmart yesterday. Anyway,
moving along. Yeah. And the only thing that bothered
me about this scene, and I remember sitting in
the theater on the first viewing, and it was
kind of going through my head quickly, which
was in the movie, Sam went to find Jetfire. to
get the matrix of leadership to revive Optimus
Prime. But it was established that an all -spark
shard could revive a transformer also. So they
could have saved time and just brought the all
-spark shard to Optimus Prime and revived it
there. My only argument I could give them to
protect this is that maybe Sam didn't know. No,
he didn't know at that time. I guess he didn't
know, and neither did the Transformers, and only
the Decepticons knew that this would work. Because
even when they asked Jetfire later on, and I
know we'll get to that, but he said, I don't
know, but it is a power like no other. So I don't
think they really knew. Yeah, it's a possibility.
So yeah, I guess if they would have known, that
would have saved them a lot of trouble. But then,
of course, we wouldn't have been introduced to
the character of Jetfire. And also the Matrix
wouldn't have been freed from its chamber, but
we'll get to that. So Jetfire ends up saying,
yeah, he became an Autobot. And then Wheelie
is also pretty keen to this idea and also decides
to join the Autobots, which if anyone who owns
the Wheelie toy, he actually has a faction switching
gimmick in his engine. Oh, does he? Yeah, where
he could change from Autobot to Decepticon. Just
his logo could switch, which is pretty cool.
I picked that up. based on your recommendation,
I love it. You know what it is? He's a huge toy
for what he is. He's the biggest scout class
sized deluxe. He's a scout in his alt mode and
he's one of the tallest decepticons in the whole
movie. Exactly as far as the toy line goes. Yeah,
that's why like if there ever is a supreme of
that toy It's gonna be like to scale with the
movie. Did you see me quote you with the repro
labels Bigfoot? Oh, yeah, of course. Yeah, Bigfoot.
Yeah, that'd be great Someone someone also they
also sent me a Twitter they're saying like or
they could do a decode. It's similar to Sentinel
Prime from anime, but yeah Yeah. Anyways, so
what ends up happening is also Wheelie joins
the ranks and starts humping Michaela's leg.
But another great Wheelie scene nonetheless,
because I really liked Wheelie in this movie
and any line that he had was appreciated. Salmon's
up showing him the symbols and then we're pretty
much shown to a riddle, which talks about the
three kings and, you know, the dagger's tip and
all of this, which is pretty much what the Transformers
nicknamed everything. And then Jetfire uses again
another nod to G1 Dimensional space bridge and
they automatically teleport to Egypt But he does
not tell them this Yeah, but he does not tell
this it's all very sudden now What's an interesting
cue with this scene that a lot of people don't
know is that Leo makes mention that they're in
Vegas? In the original script of this movie The
final battle was supposed to be in Las Vegas
and the pyramid was supposed to be the Luxor
pyramid that's found in Las Vegas. This was like
the first draft of the movie and you could find
this on the net somewhere. They obviously changed
a lot by the time they got to this version but
it was just an interesting little nod to the
first script of it where they mentioned Vegas.
The actor Shia LaBeouf at this point when he
was filming the movie had hurt his hand at this
point and broke his wrist due to a car accident
that happened outside of the movie. This was
kind of an excuse to work this into the movie
where due to the space bridge teleportation Sam
landed right on his wrist and then Michaela was
there to bandage it up very quickly. And this
wrist will be bandaged up for the rest of the
movie, but will disappear on and off if you look
carefully. Yeah, I noticed it. Not the first
time, but I noticed it on the subsequent viewings.
So for those people who are confused why Sam
is wearing a bandage for some reason, that's
kind of why that happened. It was more Shia's
in real life Jack Assery behind the wheel. So
they end up arriving. and then we're treated
to more transformer origins explaining the gigantic
war that happened over the matrix of leadership,
which was nice to finally have that brought into
the movie continuity. Oh, yes. While it doesn't
look exactly like the famous thermal nuclear
bomb that the matrix of leadership is known for,
originally drawn by Firo Diri, this one is...
More I guess you could say everything that was
ancient and transformers has a very more Egyptian
look this time around So it was something more
along those lines of an artifact shaped like
an s From Metroid, I guess I don't know the screw
attack ball. I don't know anyways so So Jetfire
tells them, yeah, and he gives them this riddle
again and explains how it's Sam's destiny, and
so they go on their way. And Jetfire seems to
part ways from them at this point in the movie.
So Sam, along with Bumblebee, Skids, and Mudflap,
go towards Dagger's tip, which is pretty much
the top of the Red Sea, because they know that
that's what it's nicknamed in the human world.
Divides Egypt and Jordan. Yeah, so now what was
the line when Donna lights the daggers tip the
three three things will illuminate something
Will illuminate the way or way the doorway. Yeah
the doorway Yeah, so Find the doorway So what
ends up happening is they They then head towards
the the the tomb which is found in the ancient
city of Petra I think it was called or something
or Petra and along the way obviously there's
a few comical scenes they they they end up being
stopped by a roadblock with a midget Arabic police
officer or whatever I don't really know why that
was added in the movie I guess they thought it
would be funny to put a midget and then wheelies
in the car look at this guy tell him he's tall
So what ends up happening is on the way there,
though, they start hiding from the Arabic police
or whatever, or the Egyptian police. And while
they're hiding in a town, they make a call. Well,
Simmons makes a call to the army telling them,
look, get Prime's body to Dagger's tip. They
use all kinds of obviously code and everything,
and they give a location. And he tells pretty
much Agent Simmons and all of them to bring Prime's
body over there. Something important is there.
So then they continue to follow the clues they
end up finding the ancient city of Petra and
They arrive and they find out that nothing's
there skids and mudflap end up fighting each
other Mudflap gets thrown into the wall revealing
a hidden doorway to a Tomb which end up becoming
the tombs of the primes where all the prime sacrificed
themselves to hide away the matrix Yes, this
was a really cool scene because me personally
I have a humongous obsession with those early
origins of Transformers. And that being said
also, Hasbro stated that in all the continuities
of Transformers there's a singularity and that
means there's only one Fallen, there's only one
Primus, there's only one Unicron among all the
continuities. And that stands for all the original
13, too. So this tomb was really something interesting
to me to see all those other primes for the first
time, at least in detail, although we would see
them even more so later on in the movie. But
I remember really getting a kick out of that
of the tombs of the primes, which was just something
really interesting. Yeah, that they sacrificed
everything to make sure. Yeah, it was just for
me, because I love the mythos of transformers
and I love the explanation of the beginnings.
Oh yeah, definitely. The fallen entrances me.
Just to learn more would be, you know? Definitely.
i think for me i don't think it was a good way
for them to uh... to incorporate the matrix into
the movies and i thought that they had to and
i think that's why you didn't get the explanation
of well what the hell did you say i'm just use
the shard to revive product so yeah you know
what i mean you have that incorporate the matrix
somewhere you can't wait till the third one to
do it it had to have been done in this one had
to be somewhere for sure so what ends up happening
is he ends up finding the matrix which was in
the hand of one of the one of the fallen primes
and when Sam goes to pick it up sadly it turns
to pixie dust so to speak or dust or sand then
Sam has a little bit of a breakdown he believes
that this will work and he tells Michaela to
just trust them he picks up all the sand and
puts it in his sock Around this time the military
finally arrived with prime but lo and behold
because they told them to meet at the daggers
tip they park their ass over there which sadly
wasn't exactly where the ancient city was. They
end up heading more towards the pyramids and
then it dawns on Sam and this goes back to when
he was in the astronomy class and he read his
entire astrology book. uh... now he had all the
knowledge of all the stars and everything because
of really going through the entire book in thirty
seconds the three things is a really do you know
what you do what the three kings were also i
forgot to mention uh... the at a ryan's belt
a ryan was mentioned at the beginning of the
movie where they mentioned virgo the virgin or
ryan the warrior or ryan was the uh... The original
name of optimus prime before he became optimus
prime ryan packs. That's right. So that was just
a little again I don't know if it was done on
purpose, but it was a little drop in there that
was put in the movie Yeah, so I didn't pick that
up on that until you just saw me. I'm nuts I
pick up on all this stupid stuff. But anyways,
so what is happening is that the body's there?
They're like, okay, let's head towards it Lennox
sees the car coming they shoot up a flare to
show them where they are but sadly because they
also shot up a flare there Starscream who was
hiding following them because they knew at least
where the daggers tip was they just didn't know
where the where the matrix was which was in Sam's
brain. So they all were around there also in
hiding. So a big battle ensues and Starscream
ends up shooting at Sam and them. They all have
to separate. Sam gets out of a bumblebee and
skids, hoping that they would be good decoys
while Sam on foot would head towards Optimus
to revive him. This is the part of the movie
that a lot of people kind of got wary. I know
even me seeing it on my third time, I kind of
noticed how it was a very long scene. And this
is when a giant firefight starts. Now it is high
on the action. But it does stretch very long,
this scene. I think this scene could also be
attributed to the Los Angeles scene from the
first movie when Aaron is like, Sam, get to the
building! And then he's running and it takes
him forever to run like six blocks. It takes
him like ten minutes to get to the dang building.
This scene is the exact same thing. He gets out
he's he's running with Michaela He has something
in his hand that he has to bring in the all spark
in one case and the other case out the matrix
pixie dust And so they're trying to get the prime
and everything and anything is getting in their
way and Sam is just running and running It's
Megatron. It's this guy. It's that guy. It's
Starscream and then they end up hiding inside
a little shack and We get a nice pan around scene
where it goes inside and then outside and then
inside again. We have a little insecticon that
ends up finding Sam and letting the other Decepticons
know that Sam is hiding in there. Then Bumblebee
shows up to save Sam and Ravage is ripped in
half like a fish, so to speak. We're also introduced
to the character of one of the Constructicons
that could actually could actually transform.
Oh god, it's not Mixed Master, it's not Rampage.
Scrapper? I think it might be Scrapper. It's
the one that's the pogo stick. He turns into
a jackhammer. So Bumblebee kicks his ass, again,
very gorely, rips his arms off, Ravage is ripped
in half. A lot of mech, fluid, and gore in this
one, let me tell you. It's a big change. And
all the while, that this is all happening, It
leads to another scene, which is happening with
two other members that separated from Sam, which
is Leo and Agent Simmons, who now have found
themselves in a little bit of a pit, surrounded
by six construction units. Yeah. And we all know
where this was going. Yeah, as soon as I saw
it, I was like, oh no. Yeah, we all knew where
this was going. What the heck? Are you alright
over here, Gary? Yeah, my headset just came off.
Felt off, sorry. Alright. Cool. Go on. So what
ends up happening is we are introduced to the
Constructicons and they combine. And it was a
big combination. It was very well done. I liked
how they almost kind of showed the gravity of
it. You know, how Devastator almost kind of had
like a difficulty lifting his head because it's
like obviously something that's many tons of
weight. So for something to just carry itself
like that under its own weight is impressive
as it is And it was just it was it was very cool
My only gripe about that was that it was I was
kind of hoping that this would be the centerpiece
of the movie That this would be the big final
battle But it wasn't but I'll get I'll get that
into that when we do the final review of the
entire movie of what I liked and what I didn't
like So and then what ends up happening is He
starts sucking up all the sand and everything
around it and into his big vortex trash compactor
Yes, and we almost think that but flap dies mud
flap ends up surviving and busting through Devastator's
face and skids helps him out and they start shooting
up Devastator and then Devastator knocks them
away and then Devastator begins his climb up
the pyramid and then we find out almost I think
what Devastator was built to do which is why
there's two sets of constructicons. One was built
for battle, but not to combine, and that's why
they transform. And the other were built to combine
to unearth the harvester. Wasn't it also said
either in the prequel or whatever that I just
bought the prequel novel today. I haven't read
it yet. I'm hoping it helps me out a lot on the
story. Oh, it will. There is no set number to
make devastation. What it is is that the Combiner
Devastator could use any number of construction
units to build up. So it could be six, it could
be nine, it could be 12, it could be seven. And
on top of it, there's two sets of them. One designed
solely for the purpose of combining, one designed
for the sole purpose of battle. And in this case
is the ones that actually turn into robot modes
because we see long haul. Devastator's truck
who combined with him, but we also see him fighting
in the skirmish in the desert we see Mix master
whose Devastator's head also in battle who's
also a triple changer who turns into a gun and
he has like he uses a shield out of his his cement
mixer I guess tube or whatever. They're all in
battle to fighting against the army men so Devastator
begins his ascent up the pyramid and agent Simmons
chases after him And we're treated to yet another
scene with the robo testicles, which I'm sure
everyone enjoyed. It's not every day we get to
see transformer testicles, but that was something
interesting. As long as they don't touch, you
know? They did. That's the point. What I'm curious
now is what the toy is going to do. Oh, no. I'm
gonna have the grappling hooks right there if
the toy is gonna have that extra detail But I
don't think it would get past the sensors. But
anyway, that would be great. Um So and then Simmons
he makes a call Because apparently he has the
hookup Simmons and just him dropping his name
in sector 7 gets him Gets the military to shoot
a super high. Well, no, they kept asking for
clearance and he said he said he knew about clearance
or you want to save 70 billion lives ready that
weapon so what ends up happening is they ready
some kind of like super insane rail gun that
fires from many miles away and which is a real
weapon it's a real weapon we have which and pretty
much takes out Devastator for I would assume
for good it he pretty much got messed up badly
but not before he unearthed the good amount of
the of the Sun Harvester that was necessarily
needed At this point we go back to Sam still
running towards Optimus Prime. But this time
Megatron finally shows up and Megatron is now
beginning the chase. And now he's chasing after
him and missiles are flying everywhere and more
explosions and more this and more that and then
an explosion hits Sam. And Sam is messed up bad
and he's dying. he actually is technically dead
they they bring in the uh the uh battles what
are the uh there's a term defibrillator they
bring in the defibrillator and he's not responding
and here's the scene where now Michaela goes
her full circle now she says she loves him and
everything and as this is happening that's damn
that's a pretty moving moment right there when
that's going on that was probably Megan Fox's
best acting in the movie because most of it was
pretty hollow. You need to be more serious. You
need to be more like you care about people. He's
dying here. Anyway, what ends up happening is
Sam ends up having a vision and this is very
similar to what's happened multiple times in
the Transformers mythos. which with Autobots
who've had the Matrix, Rotomus came to a near
-death experience in Season 3 and all of a sudden
saw all the past Primes. Optimus Prime, when
he almost died fighting against Galvatron in
Galaxy Force in the final battle, he ended up
seeing Vector Prime before... Doing his thing.
So it was really interesting now him too just
before dying while holding the matrix of leadership
He kind of becomes one with the matrix and sees
the previous primes the primes tell him you're
doing a great job But you you still have a job
to do Your you know, your destiny is greater
than this, you know Yada yada yada we get a nice
kind of like I guess minor silhouette view of
all the other primes who share similar characteristics
of that of the fallen of a very I guess Egyptian
kind of look to them. Yeah, which makes me really
wonder I guess I this is probably not ever gonna
be established but it almost is kind of queuing
to like oh Maybe this is why the Egyptians thought
their gods looked like that was because the Transformers
were their gods who knows like I Mean because
he has a very Anubis kind of look to him the
fallen but any I'm getting off topic there. So
Sam ends up like reviving the matrix is now not
dust anymore it's an actual legitimate matrix.
They bring him to Optimus Prime and they revive
him. And while Optimus Prime is being revived
Jetfire shows up on the scene and he starts cutting
people in half and kicking ass. But not before
Scorponok makes his appearance who is obviously
absent all this time and now has his tail working.
He has his tail back again. Scorponok shows up
and does quite the mortally big -ass wound on
jet fire and damages his whole side and But not
before jet fire kills Scorponok at least And
jet fires really busted up, but he's happy to
see that prime is back and alive And so prime
is back He stands up but not before the fallen
teleports in steals the matrix teleports away
Teleports to the Sun harvester and activates
it and informs everyone that less than the minute
from now this earth will be destroyed, yadda
yadda yadda. All the armies start attacking the
Fallen. The Fallen then shows one of his force
powers, because remember he's Darth Vader after
all. He was the most powerful of all the Primes,
he was stronger than his brothers. So he ends
up lifting everything dropping them all doing
lots of damage everyone's shooting and trying
to stop the fallen from Getting you know the
harvester to full function to fire and then as
jet fire is dying from his mortal wounds from
Scorponok He tells prime to combine with him.
He'll get a power unlike anything ever before
and what's cool is he rips out his spark Which
is cool because we never really saw sparks up
to this point in the movie continuity except
for mild suggestions in the first one and he
dies but not before and here's Jolt's defining
moment in the movie Jolt gets brought in to combine
the parts from Jetfire to Optimus Prime to enter
new toy Jet Prime or whatever he's officially
called and Jet Prime being a very cool looking
Combined mode is I guess we could say a homage
to many other jet primes that came before the
first being God Ginrai of Master Force fame.
Is that the right way to say that? Ginrai? Not
Ginrai? It's Ginrai. I believe you. I say it
how the Japanese say it. Oh, yeah. Oh, no, I
know you do, so I wanted to clear that up. Well,
actually, Goto Ginrai. Yeah. That would be the
correct way. But anyway, so Ginrai shows up pretty
much and it's Optimus Prime combined and he's
now amazing and super powerful and he pretty
much in one fair swoop knocks aside the fallen
and shoots the harvester and the harvester explodes
and assumably the Matrix is destroyed with it,
although in the novel version of the movie, Prime
takes the Matrix before he explodes the harvester.
It's hard to say what's going to come of that,
but one interpretation is different than another.
Anyways, after that, Ben begins a two -on -one
battle of Megatron and the Fallen against Optimus
Prime, which is gloriously done yet again. Another
great Optimus Prime fight scene where Optimus
uses his thrusters to shoot Megatron super far
away, and he messes up Megatron, shoots him face
-first. Megatron's half his face is missing.
Great stuff. Great, great battle. He ends up
then going for the Fallen. He cuts half of the
Fallen's face off. He then rips off the other
half. Give me your face. The famous line, give
me your face, is said that everyone is quoting
it. Derek Wyatt loves that line. He keeps retweeting
it. Everyone is putting that on Twitter right
now. And then he rips off his face, and then
we get this scene where he's trying to retreat.
He's in complete pain. And then Prime, right
through his chest, rips out his spark and crushes
it. Great scene. I remember everyone, at least
in my audience at this point, was cheering after
the fallen was killed. And then the famous line,
I rise, you fall. That was very cool. That was
very cool. Which is pretty much a variant of
one shall stand, one shall fall, which was pretty
cool. And then that's that we see Megatron Starscream
in shock that their leader is dead Megatron actually
looks genuinely Sad at the death of his master.
He actually looks depressed and then Starscream
being great Starscream, and he had a great line
there He's like, you know beat that his mace
Cowards do survive, you know not to call you
a coward, but yeah sometimes cowards And so now
a completely beat -up Megatron and beat -up Starscream
escape. And as the official record is right now,
it's just Megatron, Starscream, and Soundwave
who are alive. Optimus Prime makes his famous
walk towards the humans next to the Sphinx. He
disengages all his armor. Very cool scene. Just
all absolutely gorgeous. The way the movie ties
up at the end is very spectacular in terms of
visuals. to the carrier ship where we get the
conclusion of the movie. Optimus Prime is now
fully repaired, Sam is better now, although concealing
his broken hand inside his jacket, which they
did on purpose because his hand is still broken
up to this point in real life. And then Optimus
does his monologue, which is saying never forget
the past, yada, yada, yada. And then we come
to the credits. For those who are wondering,
there is no major after credit stuff, which is
kind of interesting that they didn't do that
considering it seems to be the thing all movies
are doing now. Yeah, I did sit there through
the first time and there was only that one scene
with the parents saying something, yeah. It wasn't
even as much for me to remember. It was like
something stupid. It was Sam returning to college
and then the professor saying, oh, welcome back,
Einstein. Oh, no, I remember that. But I mean,
after the credits started rolling when the parents
said something. There was something with the
parents, too. And that was pretty much it. My
belief, I think, is they kind of wanted to leave
it open -ended. See where it goes from there.
My speculation, even though it might be a little
far -fetched, I think that they'll try to play
out, well, why did the Fallen betray his people
to get energy? What did he need it for? Again,
knowing the previous past of the Fallen because
of his G1 continuity, He didn't care about the
humans. Yeah, and that too. But what did he need
it for? What was it so important to him to kill
all these humans to get energy? And I think there
might have been something more to this, and this
is where I suggest Unicron for the third movie.
Although, again, it's a complete stretch and
speculation. I know it's nuts to say that. Although
Shia... In a recent interview said Dinobots and
Galvatron are going to be in the third movie
So if there's Galvatron, then there has to be
Unicron And again considering the lousy shape
that Megatron was in at the end of this movie
It's a very strong possibility needs a new body
Again, you always have to remember they have
to sell you a new toy So yeah, very much so so
they're not gonna sell you another Megatron again,
so not gonna sell me another prime. I love this
prime So and so what it brings us down to now
guys is we'll go through one at a time I guess
what was your favorite stuff and what didn't
you like about the movie? So I guess we'll start
with our host. Well I think before we do that
we're going to take a quick break just because
we're coming up on 30 over 30 minutes and like
I said before I want to make sure we get this
done. So we'll take another intermission. Transforming
from big rig into powerful robot. He's the greatest
Autobot warrior of them all. With a hidden battle
platform. Twin rocket launchers for double the
damage. And a light and sound power pack for
real battle action. And when Optimus talks...
I am Optimus Prime. The Decepticons will run
for cover. Transformers! Robot Sentry! Transformers
in Arranger 2. Optimus Prime is all you see here.
Alright, well we've gone through the synopsis
of the movie and now we're going to get to our
thoughts and I guess I will go first. As a general
moviegoer, setting aside my G1 fanboyism, I like
the movie. I like it for the action. This is
not a movie that you go see for plot. Yes, there
is a plot. Yes, there is a backstory. That's
fine. But Transformers... It's just not something
you go see for for depth. It's something to go
see giant fucking robots shooting at each other
That's just what it is One thing we actually
left out of the actual synopsis was the scene
where They're in the temple and skids and mud
flap are being cool brats and bumblebee picks
them up and smashes their heads together Had
a complete three stooges moment when I saw that
I said, okay. Oh, yeah when he throws them out
the big doorway Yeah, yeah, he smashes their
head together. He smashes their heads together
and throws it Yeah, I know but I had a complete
three stooges flashback Bumblebee is mo and skids
and mud flapper are Larry and Curly just because
I'm so That was a good scene I had mentioned
somewhere else, I don't know if it's written
on PredaconEmpire .com forums or anything like
that or if it's something that's in the podcast
Overall rating for the movie the action I give
a 10 out of 10 and the story I give like a 4
out of 10 just because It didn't really capture
me that well. I mean, yeah, I like all the homages
Yeah, I like all the action but the story itself
kind of sucked and I could not stand the fall
and I'm sorry they fucked Megatron's characterization
up in this movie and I'm sorry to keep saying
the f -word but This is the way I feel, because
Megatron is not a sniveling Starscream clone.
He's just not. I mean, if they were going to
bring Unicron into this, I could see. But this
whole other character that me personally, I know
nothing about, I think Michael Bay screwed it
up. And you have a right to do so, because the
Fallen actually in the G1 original story has
nothing to do with Megatron. In fact, when the
Fallen shows up megatron's not even around yeah
in this movie he's his apprentice like darth
vader you know so it was a completely different
spit on things and i do not like it whatsoever
uh... i didn't mind so much prime going darker
uh... you know even though peter cullen who is
obviously the the only person i think that should
ever play prime anywhere that's just my g one
coming out of me but uh... you know even though
peter cullen plays them He is not the G1 Prime.
He's not even close to being Optimus Primal or
Optimus Prime from animated. He is its own character
and yeah, while I think that some of the original
characterization should have been there, I didn't
really mind him going all ballistic. I actually
kind of liked it, seeing Prime kick some ass.
Yeah, this like I said, yeah this this prime
doesn't mess around like I will take you all
on like this guy Yeah, he's just he's he's crazy
and it's awesome because it reminds me of for
anyone who watched Beast Wars The episode guerrilla
warfare were primal kind of like went all out
to if anyone remembers that so that is it's nice
to see a leader character that kind of has that
like rambo mentality sometimes it's it makes
for good viewing it makes for good action but
i mean that's really all my thoughts on i mean
you know i've i've actually said my thoughts
plenty of other times over the past week and
a half so even though i can talk about the movie
um... kind of talked out about it so i'll let
you guys go next whoever wants to go gary i'll
go uh... I was told about the story now. I second
your comments on how it's just a nonstop action
packed thriller that doesn't really need a story
to blow you away. It does its job. And for the
general audience these days, I think they were
saying something like 91 % of people coming out
of this liked it better. If not as much as the
first film and then and you can't find a leader
prime around here anywhere Oh, yeah, definitely.
They are gone. I mean these things are flying
off the shelves The movie's doing great, which
even if you're a movie hater listening to this
know that all that money that the movie is raking
in will be going towards masterpieces, classics,
stuff that you might enjoy if you don't enjoy
movie toys. It's good for the fandom, even if
you are a hater. Which by the way, as we speak
right now, as of midnight of July 1st, so happy
Canada Day for everyone. Yeah, as of this moment,
the movie right now is at $419 million worldwide,
which makes it ranked 100 already worldwide as
greatest selling movie of all time, and it's
at 80 domestically. So right now, the movie has
already made double its money back. Already in
what six or seven days. It's officially six days
point nine nine hours There you go. I have the
exact numbers right here Proto man don't mess
around I don't mess around but it's just it this
movies, you know I remember someone said it's
it's the greatest selling movie of all time with
the worst reviews of all time yeah, you know,
it's I saw that on CFW the Everyone's hated everyone
who's a critic is hating on it, but this movie
is a monster that's making it's eating money
up like Devastator, you know, it's just oh, yeah,
it's the best worst reviewed movie I like to
add a couple of comments on the plot. I thought
that I echo all the sentiments about Megan Fox
not having any character, but in that scene,
I don't know how many takes it took. But when
she was talking to Sam, that was very, very moving.
And there was a girl kind of next to me. I could
kind of tell she was kind of tearing up. put
her hand on her boyfriend and stuff like that
it was a very you know I know that sounds kind
of sissy or whatever but it was a very moving
moment and she did have her shining moment in
that. And a lot of other times she just seems
kind of unanimated and stuff like that. The whole
Devastator thing was really cool. Like I said,
I still got to read that prequel novel and I
recommend anyone who hasn't who wants to learn
more about the plot in Devastator and the things
we've talked about to get the prequel novel or
the prequel comic adaptation. The two books that
I suggest people to read to get a better understanding
going into this movie, again, if they're going
to do a second or third viewing. Read the prequel
books, one to six, which is Transformers, Revenge
of the Fallen, the prequel. And then there's
another series called Reign of Starscream, which
is another one also, which happens directly after
the end of the first movie. What about the trade
paperback? That's what I got. Oh, yes. Yeah,
the trades have it all. The trades have it all
in one shot. OK, and then I have the actual movie
adaptation, which I'm going to read after that.
OK, now a question. Is there, okay you said there's
a movie adaptation. Is there an actual prequel
novel? Like actual book novel not comic? Okay,
of the prequel material only there's comic books.
In the first movie there was a prequel novel,
but it only was there to establish the characterization
of the Decepticons. That's it. And it was called
The Ghosts of Yesterday. I read that one and
to be honest you don't have to read that one,
it's not really good, it doesn't add anything
to the story. All the important prequel material
for the first movie and the second movie is all
in comic book form and it can all be bought at
your local chapters or whatever or bookstores
in trade paperback form in the graphic novel
section. So you don't have to even go to your
comic store and dig up multiple issues. Right,
yeah, I actually did see it in a comic shop and
I grabbed it and I put it down because I found
some alternators for like 10 bucks. and I'm helping
out a fan on the boards for just what I paid
for him. I got Wheeljack for 15 bucks and a bunch
of others. But anyway, yeah, you can go into
a regular bookstore. Barnes and Noble has this
stuff. You don't have to go searching out a comic
shop. So any readers listening, it's read Reign
of Starscream and then the movie prequel book,
which is called Defiance. and Alliance and those
are good reads those are really good reads Defiance
explains more about the Fallen Alliance explains
what's been going on the past two years with
the humans and the Autobots and Reign of Starscream
explains where Starscream went after he escaped
the atmosphere in the first movie and why he
was on Titan the moon of Saturn in the second
one waiting for Megatron with the Fallen in hand
and everything it's all It's all really good
stuff, and again, I always stress this to people.
We have 25 years of fiction. Enjoy it read there's
so much to enjoy so much of it is great. Especially
the written word ones, you know It's out there
because it really describes in detail and puts
it in your mind Oh, yeah, it does. It really
it really it really helps you with the bigger
picture of stuff I mean one thing that I love
about Transformers is that I could go into that
movie and with what I know I could enjoy it,
you know, oh, yeah Definitely. Um, anything else
you want to add Gary? I would just like to say
that Not only do you have to be, you don't have
to be a Transformer fan to like this movie, and
that's one of the greatest appeals of it. I mean,
yeah, sure, we're all fans and talking about
this and that and the Fallen and all this, but
the average kid, the average teenager, the theater
was half -filled. I mean, they were Transformers
fans, don't get me wrong, but there's a lot of
kids in there, there's a lot of teenagers, and
I mean, from the 13 to 17 group, which, They're
really targeting with this and I just really
hope for the best with merchandise. Everyone
seemed to love it. When Optimus came back to
life, that theater was rounding applause. It
was amazing. It was really cool. That was opening
night. I mean, the subsequent times I saw it,
you heard a few people clap and stuff, but opening
night where the hardcore fans were, all that
was. It was really neat because they're like,
yes, they brought him back to life. So that's
my closing thoughts. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I am going to read the novels and the movie adaptation.
And then I would like to see it in IMAX because
I want to see the footage, the action footage,
especially where Prime is taking on all those
guys in the forest. Because if you notice in
the movie, he's crystal clear. But all the other
robots are kind of fuzzy. And in IMAX, it's not.
It's all super clear. Now I do have to say that
if you're going to IMAX just for the IMAX experience
and not expecting any additional scenes, that's
fine. But if you're going to go to IMAX viewing
to see additional stuff, you won't get it. Yeah,
there's no additional stuff as far as I know.
Nothing yet. I've seen it in both. I compared
them and contrast them. There's nothing. Yeah,
it's just it's just those specific battle scenes
specifically every scene that prime has been
in Is super like I maxed up to death That's for
sure. Yeah, you actually noticed that the resolution
becomes a lot better. Oh, yeah But at the same
time I'm paying that kind of money to go see
that especially Which we didn't really bring
up in the synopsis the scene with Simmons Undressing
himself. Yeah, I don't I don't I don't need I'm
sorry, but I don't need to see John DeTurro's
ass in IMAX I'm sorry. I just don't not not the
ass, but the cup with the scepters sector That
was hilarious because you remember before he
had he had the sector 7 t -shirt like the Superman
Yeah, so that was just kind of a classic phase
like what it's a baseball things. Yeah, I'm be
Jeter They all do it You know, I thought it was
kind of funny. But yes the first shot of his
cheeks. I didn't need that I would have known
what it was from the front or if they could have
shown really quickly that and then have him turn
around Yeah, just a little few few seconds too
much of that But it I took it with a grain of
salt and I thought it was hilarious. Honestly,
so, you know and actually Draven posted on Twitter
that he was going to make a custom one for his
girlfriend who is a big Transformers fan as well
just to see what she would do and I think she'd
be rolling on the floor laughing which also I
wanted to mention ROTF Revenge of the Falling
also stands for Rolling on the Floor Laughing.
So what are your thoughts? Oh man, where do I
begin? First of all, the first movie I gave an
8 out of 10. Where it's not perfect, but it's
pretty damn good. This one, I also give an 8
out of a 10. But to me I say that because to
me it's two different kinds of movies. The first
movie I felt was a good solid movie from start
to finish. I thought it was a good complete movie.
That every scene kind of complimented itself
and it moved kind of smoothly and the editing
was pretty good. While this movie doesn't have
that. Now I obviously don't take points away
from it because of other factors though. uh...
the editing in this movie was as good uh... the
scenes didn't compliments and as a whole it wasn't
a good movie what but there was parts of the
movie that would then excel it from the first
movie above and beyond that being uh... for one
robot seems communication uh... the first movie
i could literally count on my hands how many
times one robot talk to another prime versus
megatron a ratchet iron hide when he touched
the The the electrical poles Jazz to prime and
that was it pretty much. There was no other major
robot communications There was a Starscream and
Megatron for like five seconds Yeah, where this
one had tons of them tons of robots talking to
each other and and just great robot scenes I
felt I almost felt when I was watching the first
movie I was just waiting for the next robot scene.
It's all I wanted. But it was so limited that
even if I got a line from Ironhide, I was happy.
In this one, it was all over the place. It was
great. I got lines from all different characters.
It was fun. The second thing that makes it still
a good movie, despite the fact that I found as
a whole movie it wasn't put together well, the
fight scenes, the choreography. Oh, yes. Any
fight scene that had Optimus Prime in it was
spectacular and epic beyond epic. Whether it
be the fight against Demolisher, the fight against
Grindor, Starscream, and Megatron in the forest,
or the fight against the Fallen and Megatron.
Every fight scene that Prime was in was guaranteed
gold and incredible and your mouth hanging from
your mouth. Actually your mouth open hanging
from your head. It's just it's in my mouth It
was it was it was great. It was absolutely stunning
Aside from that the only and I loved wheelie
I like that he made it for me the wheelie was
my there was the character that made the movie
for me My only major gripes that I have number
one I felt that I expected more of Devastator.
I guess that's just my own fault for I did I
was I was hoping for some kind of big Autobot
versus Devastator showdown You know kind of like
I guess heavy metal wars again. I'm hoping for
too much Instead of it just being the twins kind
of like chipping away at him and then running
away I was hoping there would be some kind of
Autobot combining involving Finishing off Devastator
besides obviously prime at the end Which was
cool enough in itself don't get me wrong, but
like this whole thing I mean I like I said I
stayed spoiler free But you you can't not know
that jetfire and prime combined. I mean the toy
picture leaked way early I mean, you know, so
we knew that but it was just for such a short
time And yeah, and one other thing I'd like to
add is that jetfire? his dad didn't transform
into anything. He was one of the original Decepticons.
So he said he'd lived his whole life without
doing anything honorable until now. And he gave
up his spark in his life to finish this off and
get this done and go out with honor. I thought
that was just amazing. I really like Jetfire
in this movie. I just wanted to add that. Oh,
yeah. And just to go on the whole Jetfire Prime
thing really quick, in the movie, you said that
Prime... Took his own Add -ons off. I thought
Megatron or somebody that was attacking prime.
I thought they got cut off of him the jet He
disengages them. What happens is there's there's
after the final battle was done There's this
famous slow -mo scene where prime is walking
towards the humans the battle is and he shakes
them off And then he kind of like disengages
them. It's like When they all like come off like
armor, you know, but you can see his legs and
his arms have pieces of jet fire in them Yeah,
I'll have to watch it again So I wonder if that's
gonna be in the next movie Are you gonna have
a prime that still has part of jet fire with
him or is he just gonna be prime? Because now
you have a stronger prime. He doesn't necessarily
need the boosters. He can always add those. He
shook those off probably because they were heavy
as hell from the SR -71 Blackbird. What else
did I want to add? The only other thing I guess
that really bothered me was I guess I wanted
more from certain specific characters. I really
wanted more from Sideswipe. Considering that
prior to the movie coming out he was one of those
characters that was marketed to death I remember
like side swipe slushy cups and side swipe like
I mean there was side swipe everything posters
and other and he kind of got Three lines or two
lines. He got Sam Fall back and damn. I'm good
Those were his three lines in the whole movie
Yeah, they said they said something in the desert
about calling side swipe, but there was really
nothing there Yeah, he just said it was side
swipe. He does his little spin and what was cool
was if you play in the games As side swipe side
swipe is displayed as like kind of a skateboarder
because he like he or like a rollerblader Which
is really cool on wheels. Yeah. Yeah, and it's
really cool because in the game when he jumps
He jumps like a rollerblader like you like he
grabs his hit He grabs his like his heels and
stuff and it's really cool and like when he runs
he runs like he's skating So when I played the
game first, the good thing is that the DS version
of the game, they said that it's 100 % spoiler
free because it's a different story from the
movie. So I played that and I was really looking
forward to Sideswipe. I really, really was. And
while he did get a good scene and he was really
cool, I guess I wanted more. It's the same thing,
kind of like how the RC Twins kind of got a couple
a lot. That's what I was just going to add after
you finished with that. I would have liked to
see more RC. We never really got a really good,
clear standing shot of the RC girls. I have one
question for you. I think I know the answer,
but I'm not positive. She only spoke once, and
it was as chromia, I believe, when she was coming
in through the doorway like a week ago now. that
was so blue wasn't it the purple one that like
there was three colors there's blue purple and
pink the pink one is rc the blue one is chromia
and the purple one is moon racer moon racer is
the one that comes to our seat wins yet yet they
call me rc twins or something uh... when when
moon racer came in and says oh sam there you
are uh... she's the one to get shot after uh...
yeah i like It sounded like her but it was such
a brief moment that even though I've seen it
a few times. I read somewhere I think that it
is her. They said it was confirmed on TFW but
they just wanted to know. You know what, it was
so quick. She's always been RC, she's been RC
in everything. Actually, and here's a fun fact,
Sue Blue has done more Transformer stuff than
Peter Cullen or any other Transformer actor.
But that's just it, but not always as a voice
actor. She was a voice director for a lot of
other stuff, too. So she's always been around
in Transformers, so it's really cool to have
her also in the live -action movie. I believe
it was said in the... I have the Beast Machines.
It's in the other room. I believe it was said
on the Beast Machines DVD set. She said she has
been the only voice, quote unquote, voice actor...
that has been with the Transformers for the entire
25 year run since the original cartoon. Well
Peter Cullen and... Well yeah, but I mean Peter...
Oh, he didn't do Armada and stuff, yeah. Exactly.
Peter Cullen didn't do Beast Wars, he didn't
do Armada, he didn't do Energon, he didn't do
Galaxy Force aka Cybertron. He made his triumphant
return for the movie. He didn't do animated,
Sue Blue did animated. She has been the only
original G1 voice actor, the only one that has
stuck with the entire Transformer line for the
past 25 years. She hasn't been in everything,
but she has been in it the longest because she
was in G1. She was doing the voice directing
for Beast Wars. She was doing the voice directing
for Beast Machines. She did the voice directing
for some episodes of the, what do you call it?
of animated and then did actual voice acting
in animated. She did the voice acting for the
original 86 movie. She did the voice acting for
this movie now. She's done a lot more than Peter
Cullen, than Gary Chalk, who's known for Primal.
Although, and here's another fun fact, Gary Chalk,
who does Optimus Primal and Optimus Prime has
done more episodes as Optimus Prime than Peter
Cullen. Oh yeah, well it's because... Because
of Armada, Super Link, and... and on which is
fifty two episodes each right there which overtakes
callings ninety eight from g one anyways i'm
getting factual here so yes uh... anyways says
that should probably wrap it up yeah i think
that i think we are going to wrap it up i think
it's been a good discussion overall for the movie
um... and thank you very much for a man that
was a does a very great synopsis yeah it up from
very very enjoyable talking about this in a nice
calm manner earlier that's not there are some
forms on the internet that i'll leave nameless
that talk about the movie and i'd just let me
tell you about the kind of i don't see I'm the
kind of guy that I could sit down and have a
calm discussion, and I will help say why Hot
Rod sucks, okay? I know you won't. Honestly,
I could sit down and do a discussion about why
Hot Rod sucks calmly, although I wouldn't believe
it, but I could find factual points of it. Look,
you have to realize in the end, guys, it's all
in plain fun. Oh, yeah. Don't rage over it. And
it's all for the kids. It's for kids to buy toys.
The fact that they give us so many homages and
touches to G1 and other series is just all a
bonus. It's all gravy. Exactly, that's all the
cherry on the cake for us. Don't bitch about
the story, but talk about how awesome it was.
There were some things I didn't like. I would
have liked to have seen a much better RC, but
I didn't see it. But I still love the movie and
I'm not going to complain about it. And alternatively,
would have you liked to see RC but lose a prime
scene like that? No, no. You know what I mean.
I would have just liked to maybe see them combine
and do something with Devastate or just a little
bit more maybe. But ultimately in the end we
got a great movie. And we should be grateful
for what we got because they didn't have to make
Transformer movies. I'll have to say. that based
on discussions and just hearsay, spoiler free
for the most part, I wasn't expecting too much.
I honestly thought that when Michael Bay said
that they killed off RC early. and that they
didn't really talk about her. We didn't really
hear too much about the toys, or we still haven't
heard about the third toy. And I thought that
that was true. And if you notice in the end,
she gets shot in the chest, and she just falls
down. She doesn't die. And you notice in the
end, Michaela is not riding a red motorcycle,
because first of all, she flew over there. She's
riding pink RC. Well, Michael Bay, he did that
to screw with the fans. No, I know that. My wife's
board name is RC, so I've custom made RC characters
and Black Prime characters in my name, so I have
an attachment to RC in that way. The actual model
in the movie wasn't the best. uh... just the
fact that she was in it unhappy like you said
you can find a discussion about why i didn't
like this or that but she was in the movie and
it was so blue i mean there you go i mean there
you go i'm happy with that yeah i actually after
i saw the movie last week i'd come home and i
i had to start doing uh... audio for for tfg
one twenty one which is already recorded will
be out this friday But in that podcast episode,
Michael Wilson and I talk about only human, where
features the Transformers crossover with Cobra
Commander. And in that, Rodimus, R .C., Magnus,
and Springer all become human. Well, in one scene
with Magnus and R .C., the human version of R
.C., Magnus tells her to go to Autobot City.
She actually gets on a red motorcycle and rides
off. And I did not notice that until after I
saw Revenge of the Fallen. I never noticed that
before, that RC, her human form, gets on a red
motorcycle in the G1 cartoon. Shades of the future.
Exactly. Really quick, I'm not really sure when
this will go up. I'm pretty sure episode four
with the contest reveal will go up first. Depending
on whenever this can get edited. I'm not really
sure exactly seeing as how we've had some technical
difficulties But this has been the transformers
toy cast revenge of the fallen discussion with
optimus scourge and the goddamn proto man Like
to thank you guys for joining me on this the
toy cast Discussion for episode 4 is tomorrow
evening. I believe we've set up. I think 7 38
o 'clock Eastern. I'm not sure Do you guys have
any final thoughts or would you like to give
your Twitter names or contact information or
any of that kind of stuff? My name is Gary but
I go by optimist underscore scourge on Twitter.
You can follow me there or you can find me posting
occasionally on www .tfw2005 .com. And if you
haven't seen this movie yet, Get your butt out
to fit the theater. Even if you go see a cheaper
matinee or a drive -in, take your friends, go
see this movie. Even if you don't like Transformers,
how can you not like an action -packed blockbuster
super hit movie? And what's your information
that you want to give out for the man? I'm also
on TFW2005 .com. My name is protoman on the boards
there. I'm also on Cybertron .ca. I'm also protoman
on that one and I'm a moderator and staff on
that. My Twitter is protomanx, it's all one.
Someone took protoman, he will pay. Someone took
Optimus Scourge on Twitter. Oh, really? Wow.
Yours is a lot more obscure than mine. I know.
There's somebody out there that did this on a
couple boards. Anyways. Go ahead. I'm sorry.
That's okay. What else? Yeah, like Gary said
before, look, go see this movie. I saw it with
Transformer fans. I saw it with my casual fans.
I saw it with my racing friends. I saw it with
my girlfriend. I saw it with my parents. I brought
everyone to see this movie. Just go see it. Turn
off your brain. Don't expect Shakespeare. Expect
a roller coaster ride. It's more like an amusement
park. That's all it is. You don't go to an amusement
park to find an epiphany, to find the meaning
of life. You go there to have a good time. This
is what this movie is. It's a good time. You
will get out of that theater, you will wipe your
brow, and you will be like, wow, that was crazy.
and and and and and and and and and and and and
and and and and and and and and and See you later.
I think we're gonna end with a famous Optimus
Prime line.
