Bad Toy Store. Again, thank you to them for sponsoring

Toycast and GeekCastRadio .com. Now, here's the

show. Respect my authority. This is Toycast.

I am TFG1 Mike and joining me is Michael Wilson.

Hello, sir. Hey, how's it going? It's going.

You're back. I'm back, baby. Yup. It's been a

while. I don't even remember the last episode

you were on. Didn't we do one I think two months

ago I Don't remember bad. I couldn't I honestly

I think honestly the last thing I remember recording

with you was the final episode of the Beast Unleashed

podcast So yes, Toycast has been on hiatus. It's

still listed as being on hiatus because we've

got all these other projects that we're doing

over at GeekCast Radio Network. Michael, Steve,

and I will be approaching the next logical step

in the Transformers Review podcast when we start

Transformation Animation podcast next month.

So Toycast right now is kind of on the back burner.

I do have a plan for it as far as what I want

to do with the show. It's drastically going to

change. We will still have review segments here

and there, but it's not going to be what it used

to be. And this is another toy news episode.

And because we are just Toycast, we're going

to talk about all different kinds of toy news.

So, what's been going on with you, sir? Lately,

not a whole lot. Just the same ol' same ol'.

Actually, the same ol' same ol' for me probably

isn't the same ol' same ol' that would have occurred

the last time we talked because it's been so

long. Yeah, exactly. My oldest boy is now in

T -ball. Yeah. That's taken up a lot of our spare

time. going to practices and games and we'll

go out to the park and you know we'll practice

batting things like that Michael Wilson the t

-ball kid abuser oh that was not my fault I was

at I was at a practice and somebody threw a ball

and it it went over this kid's head and it came

to rest about two feet from me so I leaned over

picked up the ball and I tossed it to the nearest

kid and he wasn't that far away it might have

been what four feet you know I just kind of tossed

it and he just kind of stood there and it may

have hit him no it hit him no it kind of bounced

off his leg it didn't like hit him in the head

or anything oh okay and yeah just bounced off

his leg and the kid looked at me and went ow

and I was like I'm sorry. And I kind of looked

at the coach who's looking at me like, dude.

And I said, he didn't catch it. I just kind of

tossed it. I didn't like wind up and beam the

kid in the head. It just isn't enough, right?

But no, I sent a tweet out on Twitter. Basically

said hey, I think I injured some kid It wasn't

a big injury like I mean he wasn't bleeding from

the skull and that's that's always good That's

so wrong Like to show what's going yeah Yeah

between that and your your Twinkie blog post

you've been up to a lot You know, sadly, that's

the only thing I've posted with the Twinkie blog

post. You actually removed the post from your

Facebook page. I keep telling you, you and your

wife always post up, oh, we have all these new

pictures. And yet, michaelandchrissey .com still

has pictures from seven years ago. You know,

Chrissy's been posting a lot of them on her website.

On her website, I'm sorry. On her Facebook site.

Yeah. And I haven't been keeping up with the...

with the website to be honest I mean it's like

I'm not deriving revenue from it so it's like

you know I'll get to it when I get to it my dad

actually just called me not too long ago and

said oh you know I finally caught up with your

website and it changed and I said yeah I put

in a new redesign I've been updating it he's

like yeah it doesn't look like there's been a

new post in a little while it's like When was

the last time you checked my website? Shut up.

Yeah. It's things that I really need to find

time to do. I just haven't. Well, if you'd stop

playing Mafia Wars overnight. Exactly. I've got

this huge time waster playing Mafia Wars all

the time. Sitting on Facebook when I should be

updating my website. Bad, Michael. Bad. So where

do we want to start with the transformers news

What what interests you You know, I want to say

what interests me most as far as toys go I Want

to say our transformers actually, but I was just

at Target tonight and what I was looking at most

wasn't transformers it was the They have new

Green Lantern toys out that were actually kind

of cool. My boy collects these Imaginext toys

where you put a little figure into a circular

pad and turn it and it makes things move on the

playset. While they're repainting these Imaginext

playsets green and calling them Green Lantern

toys. I thought that was terribly cool. They

have a little Green Lantern base that's a green

repaint of of their previously gray and blue

lunar base with the little astronauts on it.

And I thought that was really neat that they

have a little green lantern on there. But yeah,

as far as Transformers go, it seems like all

the stores around me are holding off on stocking

the latest universe toys because they want to

leave room open on their shelves. For the movie.

For the movie toys, right? And to be honest,

I really want those new universe toys, and I

don't really want the movie toys. I just have

no interest in the movie toys. I've seen reviews

online of some of the toys, and I've seen pictures.

I think somebody put out a video of Ratchet's

mech tech weapon that has a spiny axe type of

thing. I thought, well, that's... kind of neat

in a kind of lame way. I don't like that. It's

like, why does he have a giant weapon? The weapon

is half the size of the vehicle itself. Yeah,

it's got a little spinny blade gimmick, but geez,

that's a lot of plastic that you could have put

elsewhere. That's a lot of money that you probably

could have put into paint apps that would have

been nicer. So it's a bit of a letdown. Some

of them do look cool. Yeah, you have to hand

it to them. The records look nice Yeah, they

do. Yeah. Yeah, but I think the only thing the

only toy I'm really interested in that line is

the power glide Really? He's power glide. Come

on. What is it with you and power glide? I you

know, uh, I like g1 homages I like g1 homages

too, but I'm sorry power glide is one of the

worst transformers ever Well, I mean if you look

back at the the mini bots from the g1 line they

There wasn't a whole lot to write home about,

you know, okay Let me rephrase that loan rephrase

that statement power glide is one of the worst

transformers characters ever That's what I mean.

I'm not I'm not talking about the toy. I'm talking

about the character of power glide. I Wouldn't

say that. I mean he was one of the few characters

that they actually focused on in the cartoon

series I mean, he had his own show. He had his

own episode, which was completely and utterly

dumb. Yeah, a lot of those episodes were dumb,

though. Well, yeah, but we're not going there.

So, yeah, you're exactly we won't be. Yeah, that's

a low road. We don't need to go down. It's not

that low. It's a few years after that before

we get to the low road. But no, I mean, he was

he was a good character. I thought. I mean, he

didn't have a bubbly voice that was annoying

as hell. He didn't have anything that was...

I don't think he was a dumb character. I liked

him as a character. And I liked the toy, however

bad the toy was. He was a bad toy, let's face

it. A lot of people loved their minibots, but

jeez -o -peets. I never liked the minibots. Really

I they were too small even as much as I like

bumblebee and gold bug in the cartoon the toys

of those were just way too freaking small and

I understand it's 1984 toy stylings whatever

else and all that but I'm sorry those g1 toys

especially when it came to bumblebee and cliff

jumper they were like Like I could fit probably

about ten of those in my fist right now. They

were that small You know, I mean they were they're

small sure but they there was a lot of Artistic

license, you know, you had to have an awful lot

of imagination to really play with those true

Some of them not so not so bad But again, very

little articulation. They were just cute little

small robots you could put in your pocket. I

think that's really what took off with the kids.

Plus, a lot of them had really nice characterizations

on the cartoon. He's kind of like Cosmos. He's

one of those characters that they just ignored

forever and forever. Finally, they released a

Powerglide toy. Mmm, you know you could actually

play with it didn't look as bad as the original

Yeah, and it's out that I would use cosmos as

a Reference there because they haven't made a

new cause. Oh, no, they did make a new cosmos

toy. They made a Legends class cosmos And he

doesn't look all that bad Looking at this power

glide though At the cyber verse power glide.

Yeah, he's kind of weird He's movie style Well

true, but I mean he's an a 10 warthog He's red.

He's kind of got the power glide ish face, you

know, and he turns into a robot. So hey, it's

power glide He doesn't look as movie as You know,

he doesn't have that movie style as badly as

some of the other ones do Yeah, that's true.

You know the movie toys are just Some of them

are just so awful, I don't... I'm not even sure

why I got them in some cases. I'm looking at

the comparison pic between the Powerglide Cyberverse

toy and a Classics Cliffjumper. Wow. Those Cyberverse

are tiny, because... Huh? Really? Yeah, here,

look. You might have to send me the link. Yeah,

I am. I don't know, it just looks really, really...

Stupid button. Um, it looks really really small

to me And when I say classics close number, I

mean articulated cliff jumper, oh Oh him. Okay.

Yeah, that's that's the That's the bumblebee

repaint. Yeah. Okay. Yeah No, that's not that

small Powered by looks tiny sit standing next

to him No, that's good for for a scout size figure

Guess and I guess I wasn't ever really it like

deluxe is really the the smallest size I'll go

I'd never get and it's not anything like my my

animated activators Dislike it's not like oh,

these are way too small and you just press a

button It isn't like that. It's just I don't

know the scout size figures just don't appeal

to me I think the only like legends scout size

I even have is the revenge of the fallen legends

ravage that came out in uh... the uh... not reveal

the shield, what was the other one? Hun for the

Decepticons. Oh, yeah, that power glide is going

to stand about as tall as your regular scout

size figures from uh... the movie line. Yeah.

Yeah, maybe a little bit taller, but no, probably

about as tall as a regular scout figure. Dig

him I think he looks good now. I wasn't looking

at this picture. I was actually looking at some

photos of him from a review and He's just really

scrawny He is yeah like but you know what honestly

if you take a look at the last year's line of

Movie deluxe is I mean you've got I Want to say

his name's rampage he was the the biplane you

know and the biplane how terribly cool is it

to have a biplane transformer but in reality

when he's in robot mode he's just this little

stick figure you know it's like I could beat

the guy up with a two by four he just doesn't

look that intimidating you know yeah and and

they had a real problem with that with a lot

of the a lot of the toys the scout size toys

in that line Especially, there was a car, I forget

the name of the car, but they repainted him like

nine times. But when you transform him, he's

got these long, skinny arms that reach down to

his ankles. The only meat on his arms is the

car doors that are molded onto the sides of him.

Other than that, he's just very spindly. It looks

kind of strange. Yeah, and you know, and I think

that's that's what power glide is suffering from

here He's just he's just a stick figure with

wings hanging off his arms Yeah, that's pretty

much it power glide I Mean yeah, I think I think

I'm interested I don't know if I'll actually

get him I am interested and sadly It's looking

like I'm not never gonna see the universe twice

for the last wave So there's always a big bad

toy store Yeah, there's always that I'll have

to check on there and see if they I don't know

if they're in stock, but It looks like he's He's

small yeah, he is small he's very small He is

small. With any luck, he won't be too terribly

disappointing. He looks nice in plain work, though.

It's not easy to screw up an A -10 Warthog. It's

a pretty distinctive body, plain style, a maker

model of a plane, I'm not sure. Yeah, you'll

look at it. You say oh, hey, that's a warthog

You paint it red. Hey, you got power glide. There

you go Has Hasbro actually managed to screw that

up the first time it because they painted it

white didn't they? Was he gray or was he white

white gray something or other? I don't know something

or another and and I'm actually looking at my

shelves right now Way in the back. I can't even

see him I think he was white or gray or a similar

type thing to that, you know Yeah, he was kind

of grayish and then well, I was really happy

when they released the purple repaint I thought

that was awesome I think you know, there's a

lot of people that weren't happy about that because

why are you making repaints of a $40 toy? Kind

of adding insult to injury here. You already

gave us a gray power glide, you know, but eventually

they released a red one Yeah, eventually they

released the red one. Yeah, you know, I guess

it took pity on all the people who couldn't import

one from Japan Because Japan got it right the

first time Yeah Yeah, the other thing I'm so

glad well, first of all, I would never have the

money to afford any of them, but I'm so glad

I'm not like a huge masterpiece collector Well

because when Masterpiece Rodimus MP09 came out

Everybody had issues almost every reviewer I

watched either their toy fell apart right out

of the box or The leg joints were too loose the

panels would fall off or anything like that.

So Well, apparently we have release when they

released it apparently not Yeah Apparently, coming

in September, we are going to see a second release

of Masterpiece Rodimus. Is this new one going

to come out with anything different, any new

accessories, or is it just going to be the same

old same old except this one's better because

it doesn't fall apart? It says it will be getting

a second run in September to coincide with the

release of mp10 convoy, which we'll talk about

in a moment Yeah, we'll talk about that in a

moment because holy crap that yeah, we'll let

me get this other way around basically because

of every issues That people have had new parts

are made to replace the weak spots especially

with the legs panels and feet Overall quality

is the same Lovely don't expect it to be dramatically

different But there might be some small improvements

to help with the waste with the worst affected

parts um Yeah It's like you know be cool is if

you offer to give one for free for everyone who

bought the first crappy release Yeah, that's

not gonna happen ever How about this how about

we fix it and we make you pay for it again? Yeah,

I think it would be nice if he had You know different

accessories, but really they put all the accessories

in the first one. There's that much more you

could do Yeah, I mean the the the Toys R Us release

which will just be probably the hot rod car won't

have the trailer It'll probably have something

additional kind of like with what the Grimlock

release had between the two things And all that

So, you know, I'm happy with my with my grip

on my US Grimlock. I should say yeah you know

because i mean he's got his crown and his his

sword and his gun and that's all i think he really

needs i mean i don't think he needs a serving

tray or uh a technobots uh brain conducer helmet

or uh well or what do they have uh the apron

the oh god the apron but no okay but see like

like i like both versions of grimlock even though

i will never own either one the reason why i

like both versions is because it it pays homage

to two different parts of grimlock's history

you know the crown thing was part of that yeah

the comic versus the cartoon yeah so i mean i

can by that sure uh... as far as mp ten You know

what bothers me about MP10? It's like, okay,

we've already made the best Optimus Prime toy

we're ever going to make. We've repainted them

five times and we've released them with a different

base and we've released them in different countries.

Japan actually got a trailer, MP4. So the MP04

isn't as tall as Ronimus? Oh no, I'm sorry I

had that backward. The MP04 is huge. MP04 is

actually the same figure as MP01, who is the

same figure as the 20th anniversary Optimus Prime.

So I mean, he's tall. He's really big. But he's

got a tower over the Rodimus Prime. okay he towers

over masterpiece Rodimus okay okay so they want

their why they're releasing mp10 is because they

wanted them the same size lovely this is fucking

stupid and they want a trailer so that what they

did is they you know they want it they want to

have an office prime with a trailer that doesn't

come in a three foot by three foot box which

mp04 did mp04 came in a box it was It's huge.

It's literally three foot by three foot size

box Yeah, because they have this big ass trailer.

It's this big ass optimus prime in it But now

you know, they've released a trailer that's just

like the g1 trailer and with this with this new

optimus prime and They also release a little

tiny figure that goes with them a little tiny

spike Yeah drives in it in there and but I mean

otherwise it looks Honestly, just looking at

it, I can see that a lot of the special features

just aren't there. They're not going to be there.

Well, yeah. Like with Masterpiece Prime, when

he's got shocks in his ankles, so when you push

down on him, the vents in his shins move up and

down. Yeah. He's got pistons built into his elbows,

so when he moves his arms, his pistons go in

and out. I mean, he's just got so much stuff

going on That they're not even gonna attempt

on the smaller version. No there were rumors

like when this was first announced before we

even knew what it was gonna be there were rumors

that Supposedly it was gonna be something Takara

had never done before something brand new a new

character supposedly And then we get this. Where's

my master wave? Masterpiece sound wave that's

the way that's also that's really but seriously

though like look at the masterpiece line like

you said optimus has been repainted he's he's

yet he's got his black version which always has

to happen he's got his sleep version to let us

all relive his death got those you uh... you

know it is madness yeah i'll be at the end of

the white version of tremendous all this other

stuff the entire masterpiece line it's 10 million

optimuses, Megatron, Starscream, and Rodimus.

I'm sorry, I do not count the movie masterpiece

stuff. I just don't. Like, masterpiece, movie,

Starscream, that's crap, that's movie toys. I

thought the whole point of the masterpiece line,

and I know it's Takara and it's Japan and they

don't, you know, oh, a cassette deck doesn't

hold up today, we can't do that. Masterpieces

are supposed to be the ultimate in toy. You know

you have so many different versions of sound

wave Why not give him a masterpiece for like?

The Rodimus this Rodimus is the ultimate Rodimus

that we will ever get there won't be anything

like this Ever again unless they repaint him

to be Shatterglass right, but I mean like for

Rodimus his character in toy design This is it.

This is the ultimate goal you know this is the

ultimate goal and That they're just... And it's

sad that they've already released the best optimist

we're ever going to get. And now they're saying,

oh, we're going to release a slightly less best

optimist that you're ever going to get. I know.

And like, I get they have to make money and they

want to make money and stuff. But seriously,

give us other... No, you have no idea. Wait,

wait, wait for it. Because this is the new one

that they're going to repaint in gray. Oh, I

know. No, I know. White and call them Ultra Magnus.

I know. I know. It's going to happen all over

again. I know. I know. And it's freaking stupid.

It makes no damn sense to me why Takara won't

do any other figures, any other different characters.

If you look at GI Joe, right? And you say, why

is it that every damn wave there's another Storm

Shadow and another Snake Eyes? Do I really need

50 Storm Shadows and 50 Snake Eyes? And you know

why? It's because those are the ones that little

kids buy. And granted, the Masterpiece line isn't

tailored toward little kids, but the theme still

holds true. The most popular characters are going

to sell no matter what. And if you want to push

the line... If you want to continue the Masterpiece

line, you have to throw an Optimus Prime or a

Megatron in there every once in a while. I'm

honestly really surprised they haven't released

a repaint of that Megatron toy. Didn't they release

recently... I don't think it was a small... I

could have sworn there was more Masterpiece Megatron

news like a few months ago. Like something similar

to this where they released a newer version of

him, but he was he wasn't as big as the original

It's like I like I get they want to make money

and all that stuff. Obviously they're a company

out to make money I get that But as you said

masterpieces are for collectors. These aren't

for kids These are like three four five hundred

dollar toys. They're not for kids You have to

wonder how many adult collectors have gone to

Takara and said I want an optimus prime. That's

a masterpiece. That's also the same size as Rodimus

so that they can stamp side -by -side Yeah, it's

like, you know, I've seen that online I've seen

people complain and say well this Rodimus isn't

the same size as optimus and what they're saying

is I want a bigger Rodimus They're not saying

make optimus smaller You know Starscream Starscream

is not in in Compatible size with optimus prime,

you know, it's like okay Uh, my Grimlock. Well,

my Grimlock's not nearly tall enough. He shouldn't

be a masterpiece. He makes a goodly sized classics.

It's like, okay, I'll buy that. But what do we

do? Well, we take the tallest figure in the line

and we make him short. It's a lot easier than

going back and giving you bigger figures for

all the other ones. You know, you mentioned a

second ago about, you know, what has the most

fan reaction. Granted, Optimus, Rodimus, Megatron,

Starscream. those are all big names and as i

said before i understand that the car probably

doesn't want to sound way because all no one's

gonna know that what would take that is nowadays

again my argument is people will because you're

marketing this towards us collectors towards

us people that are in our thirties on my god

nine years of being happily crap uh... you know

we're old i mean you know like i said this is

not marketed towards kids is marketed towards

collectors and i don't understand why they wouldn't

do a sound wave with masterpiece like sets that

would be inside him is what i want because he

is popular he when you think of g one transformers

at least what i think of your transformers there's

probably five characters i think of first besides

my Love ferotimous that that is that aside optimists

Megatron Starscream Soundwave and bumblebee Why

is there no masterpiece bumblebee? You know it

kills me though is The fact that they have ultimate

class toys in the u .s. That could probably easily

pass as Masterpiece, you know like I have ultimate

bumblebee from the movie line of 2007 Mm -hmm,

and he he's really really big. I mean he's bigger

than The original masterpiece prime mmm, and

he looks you know pretty spot -on in vehicle

mode and in robot mode And he talks he sings

You probably can't hear that. I heard it barely.

He says you have to whip it. Oh my god, a Devo

song, really? He says you have to whip it when

a problem comes along. You must whip it. Yeah,

it's cool. But it's like, if I've already got

an ultimate Bumblebee, do I really need a Masterpiece

Bumblebee? OK, when I say I want Masterpiece

Bumblebee... You want a G1? I want a G1 Bumblebee.

And good luck getting Volkswagen to approve that.

I know. Yeah, who doesn't want... No, actually,

I don't think I would want one. Or even if, and

I know this isn't gonna happen, even if they

use the mold from, not the mold, but the style

of car from animated Bumblebee, I wouldn't mind

that as a masterpiece, but just have it have

a G1 flair to it. Right something I mean something

similar that is It's kind of like all those third

-party companies that say oh well This is supposed

to be this, but we really can't call it this

because of copyrights It's like oh well this

car looks like a Volkswagen, but it really isn't

a Volkswagen so Volkswagen won't sue us You know

that that type of thing yeah, well good luck

with that too. I know I'm not as hung up on the

masterpiece toys to be honest. I'm not like I

would love to have mp04 just because I want Masterpiece

prime and the trailer all at once Yeah, you know

I would love to have that I would love to have

Masterpiece Megatron past that I've Be because

of all the video reviews. I've seen of Rodimus.

It's nice that he's out It's nice that we got

him, but I just don't care to have him because

it's like ronin this is like one of those things

where you have to treat it was such kid gloves

like you know you move one thing on that thing

in it just and so i don't actually have one wondering

if he's got metal on or if he's just i think

he does have that cast i'd i don't remember all

after after the show i'll link you to some video

reviews you can watch them i forget I don't watch

a lot of the video reviews, but like the original

Masterpiece Prime, he had a lot of die -cast

metal on him. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, he was sturdy

up until I dropped him off the balcony. But I've

got two. One of them has a broken leg because

he took a header off the balcony on my loft,

which was, you know, it was crushing. It really

was. I snapped his leg off. But the other one

has never come out of the box. Oh, really? Yeah,

he was waiting to meet Predator Colin someday.

But he hasn't. Yeah, so, I mean, the original

Masterpiece toy, you didn't have to treat him

with kid gloves. He wasn't going to break on

you. Just regularly handling him. He didn't pass

the 15 -foot drop test, though. Have you been

paying attention to Transformers Prime at all?

Yeah, yeah, I've watched a couple of the episodes.

I haven't watched Sick Mind yet. Have you seen

all the news stories and pictures of the toys?

Oh, yeah, yeah. In fact, I wasn't really sure

what I thought of those yet, to be honest. The

only ones I've seen so far are Optimus Prime

and Megatron. And Optimus Prime looks like a

really dumbed down movie Prime. Yeah. And Megatron

kind of looks like a Transformers animated Megatron.

I would say he's a cross between animated movie

and War for Cybertron because the only reason

why I put movie in there is because of his face.

On the toy because of the face in the cartoon.

Yeah, cuz I didn't think you know to me movie

Megatron is just You know a crumpled big piece

of tin foil that's really kind of squished into

the shape of a guy and and he used to You know,

he's still all crinkly and metallic and he's

got these spikes all over him But you you can't

really tell he's Megatron or not. Hey is that

a crinkly? A crinkly spiked metallic. Mr. Smith.

Oh my god It's roughly what it is. So basically

there was a new new toy announcement for prime

they're talking about What's supposedly coming

Fullmetalhero .com we now know that we will be

getting Voyager figures in the line so prime

deluxe assortment Voyager assortment Transformers

Prime entertainment pack and a roleplay blaster

so I know those things are so I'm too fat for

those things like No, seriously, I'm too fat

for the roleplay blasters and I'm too fat for

those stupid fucking helmets You know what I've

actually got and They're hard to describe if

you've never seen them before but there's a it

was like a short squat little optimus prime and

You put your hand in the back of the trailer

and there was a trigger in there and the other

hand you put on top and when you pulled the handle

on top back, it would transform into what looked

like a robot hand holding a big blaster. And

the one, I want to say it's the movie toy version,

just has, it's got lights I think. When you transform

it, it'll light up. And I think it makes noise,

but it's got a Nerf gun inside. or maybe it doesn't

have lights, but it has a Nerf gun, I forget.

The other one is the Transformers animated version,

which looks more like a G1 toy, but it's not.

Because when you pull the handle back, there's

no Nerf gun, but it lights up, and you hear David

Kay saying, my name is Optimus Prime. And then

when you transform back, he'll sound like a firetruck,

which is neat. So it's like, I don't think I

would want the... like the swords they had with

the energon line or the big gun, just a regular

plastic gun they had for the Cybertron line.

But I'm kind of torn as to whether or not I would

want a big truck that transforms into a Nerf

gun. Yeah, that's a little weird. That's kind

of neat, but if given the choice, I'd rather

have the one that lights up and talks like David

King. Yeah. I don't think those count as role

-playing. No. There's no current date on the

Transformers Prime toys, but with BotCon and

SDCC coming up, I'm sure we'll get news at some

point about those. One great thing about this,

which is really really weird, here in the U .S.

we'll be getting our fix as well for an SDCC

exclusive Deluxe Transformers Prime Optimus with

Matrix. Okay, maybe I haven't seen that yet.

I Don't think there's pictures. Obviously. It's

it's just the news story Okay, that seems kind

of strange to me because I know the new masterpiece

prime is gonna have a matrix. Oh lovely Yeah,

well, you know, well, it says it says transformers

prime optimus. It doesn't say movie optim or

not movie. Oh Okay Yeah, so Yeah, so they're

going to have a Prime Deluxe assortment, a Prime

Voyager assortment, a Prime Entertainment Pack,

and a Prime Roleplay Blaster. Yeah. I'm real

interested in the Roleplay Blaster. I know that

they're going to release an RC, because I've

seen pictures of it. And I haven't seen pictures

of the bulkhead, but I'm told that that's going

to be released, too. Yeah, I think of course

they're gonna release a bumblebee. Yeah, but

I haven't seen pictures of the bumblebee either

No bumblebee came out bumblebee images came out.

I know they did because I saw them I saw pictures

of the Starscream And and he looks a lot like

he does in the show really it's kind of long

and spindly And he has an airplane mode, which

is good So yeah so I mean yeah sure he looks

kind of neat I'm not sure if I'm gonna go down

that path though because you know I've been let

down before well I mean like like I view the

transformers prime stuff as you know pick and

choose your your characters like like the RC

looks really cool the Starscream looks really

cool for robot mode um Megatron I will probably

most definitely get to a Megatron because I love

that plane mode and and his robot mode um you

can see his head in plane mode I know at what

point did they give up I don't know you know

honestly the whole front of the plane is his

chest and his crotch and you can see his head

It's like, you know, just don't don't fall us

in the eyeball, okay? You know, I haven't seen

ass this bad since Armada Ironhide Yeah, I remember

him he was pretty bad really it was a big truck

and you could see his head in Vehicle mode and

it's like why can I see your head? This is just

ass, you know, at least I could have done is

had a little piece of plastic to cover up your

face Let's give them the benefit of the doubt.

Maybe it was mistransformed in the pictures.

It's not the first time that's happened. I can

understand that maybe, but jeez. The robot mode

looks alright, but he looks an awful lot like

that Voyager -sized Transformers animated Megatron.

Mm -hmm the one that the one that transformed

into the You know the Cybertronian vehicle. Oh

Yeah, yeah, he looks a lot like that And you

know it might just have been a trick of the Photography

or Photoshop or whatever, but he looks the prime

version looks a little shinier a little more

metallic yeah, but I'm torn, because I think

he looks cool. Honestly, this is what Movie Prime

should have looked like. I'm sorry, Movie Megatron

should have looked like. If Movie Megatron would

have looked more like this, I may have been a

little more forgiving. Yeah. See, it's funny,

because it's been a while since I looked at the

Transformers Prime Megatron image. Yeah. In the

legs and in the feet, I see a lot of Universe

Cyclonus. Oh, really? I was going to say G1.

It almost looks like his legs have that gun handle

shape to them. Well, what I mean as far as Universe

Cyclonus is pretty much this, where we've got,

if you look at the up close on his legs, it's

got that front panel. that gray front panel kind

of like it's half of like on on the universe

cyclonus where the two panels come down and form

his his like shins next to his feet and i don't

know that's i don't know it's kind of weird to

me but i really like the transformers prime megatron

it looks really really good um yeah again i'm

a little torn And what I'm afraid this is going

to end up as is another War for Cybertron line.

Where we get an Optimus and we get a Megatron

and we may get a couple other characters. And

then they go, oh yeah, that's all we're going

to do for that line. As much as you may dig this,

that's all we're going to do. Well, we're getting

Optimus, Megatron, Bumblebee, Starscream. We're

getting the humans. well the humans are cool

yeah they're never going to be able to sit well

yeah they're they're basically in action figures

seriously that's exactly what they are oh my

god why is it i'm flashing to a certain cartoon

episode oh my god this is parry the platypus

people he doesn't do much it's an inaction figure

it's an inaction figure he's a platypus they

don't do much yeah that's right the platypus

they don't do much um i actually really like

this is the first like movie -esque look i mean

i know the prime bumblebee isn't isn't movie

it's it's uh it it's prime but this is the first

fairly movie yeah it's kind of movie but it's

not it's still a movie is fairly movie well no

i'm talking about it's like I'm talking about

the Transformers Prime version, though. Oh, that's

what I'm saying. If you take Transformers Prime,

or if you take the movie Bumblebee and you kind

of dumb him down a bit a la Transformers Animated,

right? Mm -hmm. So that you take pretty much

all of the details out and you kind of smooth

them out, right? Mm -hmm. You end up with Prime

Bumblebee. I don't know I disagree with that

I think this one looks a hell of a lot better

This is the robot mode What Please now tell me

that's not movie bumblebee. It isn't well again.

I've been watching the cartoon and I I'm really

liking the cartoon so You know what honestly

this to me this figure looks like You remember

the the 12 inch titanium line mm -hmm Well, he

kind of looks to me like they tried to make a

12 inch titanium figure out of movie one will

be And this is what he ended up as. Because,

well, I mean, if you take a look at, let's say,

Titanium Prowl, who was a repaint of... Actually,

maybe he wasn't a repaint, but yeah, or Titanium

Grimlock, you know, where basically the majority

of his body is in his upper chest and shoulders.

Right. And then they've got, and then, you know,

they basically have this flimsy... Waste joint

that attaches their spindly legs Mm -hmm. Yeah,

I mean that's what that is kind of what this

reminds me of I Don't know. I I kind of like

it because I like that. It's a slimmed down version

of I mean You know the other thing is if you

look at that if you look at the Transformers

Prime Bumblebee robot mode compared to The movie

Bully robot mode you don't have a giant Camaro

chest you have you know, an Autobot insignia

and you have his windshield as his, I would hate

to say nipples or breasts, but you know, I mean

on the sides of his chest, you have the windshield

pieces. Those are headlights, right where the

headlights should be. That's kind of funny. That's

a nice pair of headlights. No, this to me just

screams movie. And the Prime, the Prime Optimus,

looks a lot like movie to me. And to be honest,

I'm just not a fan of movie toys, and I'm not

sure if my bias can get past these figures. And

again, like I said, I think this is a line. Transformers

Prime will be a line where you can pick and choose.

Like, if you're watching the cartoon and you

like a certain character and you like the way

the character's toy looks, Go ahead and pick

them up. Is it a line that everyone needs to

own? Every single figure? Probably not. I know

that just from looking at the Optimus figure,

I won't be getting that. How many movie Optimuses

do you really need? They have 26 episodes so

far. created most of them you know they have

them in the can already uh... i think we've seen

what nine of them no we're up to like fourteen

fifteen now i take it back i've only seen nine

of them yeah i don't have the hub so i download

them off the internet uh... so let's say they

get picked up for another year another twenty

six episodes they have been it'll be season one

will be twenty six season two will be twenty

six Okay, cool. So we've got that out of the

way. How many figures do you think they're gonna

make? Depends on what characters they put in

the show. Yeah. That's true. Like, I don't see

them making a Transformers Prime Wheeljack because

the Generations Wheeljack looks just like the

animation model. Yeah. No, I mean, I would like

to see, like, a breakdown. Oh, yeah. Breakdown.

I'd like to see a sound wave. You know, well,

you know that sound wave is such a huge departure

That's my sound waves. Yeah, you know if anything

he reminds me of I mean he could be a Starscream

repaint he's supposed to be a spy drone as opposed

to a Jet, but you know, you know, he's still

got that same very tall skinny spindly look to

him And I kind of like the fact that he's got

that televiper thing going on with his faceplate.

When he talks, he's got not the words going across,

but it's got the cosine line going across his

face. That's kind of neat. I like that. Anyway,

I can see them making more figures, but it's

just... I would love to see how they're going

to do Arachnid. God, I hope not. Seriously, I

would love to see how they're going to handle

an arachnid figure, because she looked amazing

in the show. It's black arachnia. No, it's not.

Oh, yeah. Yeah, it pretty much is. No. No, it's

not. It's black arachnia with spider legs. No,

it isn't. It's kind of sad, honestly. Honestly,

it's a completely different design. What I like

is that... You can see the jet mode there. You

can see she's got a jet mode. They may not have

shown it yet, but you can tell those legs are

going to fold up into jet wings. That's fine.

Maybe she'll be a Transformers Prime triple changer.

Well, if she has... I may be changing my tune,

let's say. that's a you know it's a jet and then

it's a female robot that looks an awful lot like

black arachnid and then the jet wings split open

and turned into legs you know i yeah i could

see that i'm sorry but i have to disagree with

you because of one simple fact arachnid is a

hell of a lot more evil than any black arachnia

version ever If you go back and you watch the

episode that she's been in, go back and watch

Predatory. Oh my god, this character is evil.

Plus, it's Gina Torres voicing her. Holy crap.

Firefly, Angel, she was Superwoman in Justice

League Crisis on Two Earths. You you'll know

the voice when you hear it, but yeah arachnid

puts black arachnia is evil deeds to shame She

just does this is not black arachnia. I was thinking

early black arachnia was That's what I'm saying

early blood. That's what I'm saying early black

arachnia when she was Predacon Yeah, arachnid

puts her to shame So we're gonna take a quick

break and we're gonna come back with some Mattel

SDCC news Welcome to my throne of future tales.

Decepticons, transform and rise up! So we are

back from the break. And the last thing we're

going to talk about is the Mattel San Diego Comic

Con 2011 preview. First thing, they announced

that they're doing a 20 -inch state puff, or

state puff, marshmallow man. He's only 20? 20

inches he's only 20 inch. What do you mean only?

This this thing is huge He must be tall enough

to ride this ride. Okay From what I had read

and when they were first throwing around Information

about this guy. They said he was going to be

in scale with the the current figures and You

know, the current figures are six inches tall

Yeah, then Well, okay, we'll do the math here.

If six inches works out to roughly six feet,

so let's be generous. Let's say Egon is six feet

tall, okay? Six inches is equal to six feet.

A Stay Puft Marshmallow Man should be at least

40 feet tall, which would make him 40 inches

tall. I was thinking Stay Puft Marshmallow Man

would be around three foot tall. And when I saw

the video from the tell, I think it was either

G4 or IGN. It was G4. It was G4. G4 did a preview

video where you could actually see him. And the

thing looked about three foot tall to me. He

looked really big. Yeah. But if you're telling

me now that he's a foot and a half tall, I'd

be a little disappointed. I'm just going over

what Mattel lists. what maddie collector is listing

as yes as the size twenty twenty inches tall

yeah and in in in the video i believe toy guru

actually showed you with an egon array like i

think they come up to like his me so i mean that's

pretty in scale i mean you know there's no way

that you're gonna have uh... eight -inch State

Puff Marshmallow Man as an SDCC exclusive to

be quote -unquote in scale with the other figures

I saw the video and he did look like he came

up maybe up to his hip maybe Yeah, but it it

looked good He's supposed to be a little spongy

He's got a little gift for him when you squeeze

him. Soft plastic. And I think that's neat. I'm

not sure how much they're asking for him. $70.

Oh, yeah. No. Well, a couple of things you've

got to think about, though. Number one he's SDCC

exclusive number two. This is the largest figure

Mattel Stay puffed is the largest item ever made

by Mattel and sold at SDCC. Yeah, he's the largest

item that they've ever done You know, I don't

think he's that big of a risk though because

if you look at Oh, no, are you kidding? He's

no risk at all people are gonna buy him up, but

no I was comparing him to what Hasbro's done.

I mean if you look at the sky striker, they're

repainting as Star scream right with a little

you know that thing. That's a risk. I Mean that

thing is huge and it's a star scream that doesn't

transform So it's like is anybody gonna buy this

thing. Well, I'm sure they will and I think 70

bucks too. I'm pretty sure But you know, it's

like it's at a risk. It's anybody gonna buy a

star scream doesn't transform. I mean I probably

would That's the problem right there comparing

that to this is because You know you have multiple

different versions of Starscream over multiple

different years With this this is a first ever

also this ties in exclusively to their Ghostbusters

online toy line, right? Yeah, so I mean this

is This is major Yeah, oh, yeah, plus they also

have the option to battle damage him up a little

bit and call him a melted state puff or something

That one would be the risk already bought one

why do I want one that's you know painted black

You could have for a masterpiece prime, you know,

it's like I already spent $70 on a masterpiece

prime Why should I see if they were gonna redo

this state puff? Yeah, like you were saying have

him like charred marshmallow. Yeah, I would want

him Burnt in spots not just a black repaint of

the of the figure Oh, yeah repaint the top with

like where they where they stick their their

proton packs over the side and shoot him in the

face You know what a horrible Tom and Jerry blackface

joke that would be Yes. Oh, that's so wrong.

This is why Tom and Jerry is banned now. Okay.

So wrong, so wrong. I mean, if they painted his

face and his shoulders, you know, kind of mottled

gray and black and make it look like he was charred

and maybe take a chunk out of his hat or repaint

his little, his dickie or whatever the hell that

is and make it look like it was burnt up, you

know, or paint it so that it looks like there's

white spots through it where it's been melted.

You know, that would be cool. I mean, I could

see that. I mean, they've already released figures

that look like they're covered in, let's say...

Slime. ...forgivingly, right? No, they released

one that had white all over them. Did they? Oh

yeah, that was one of the first ones they released.

It was like a... I want to say like a Stedman

or something. I forget who. Yeah, I don't remember

which character it was. I think it was the accurate

character, but he had He was all covered it.

Oh marshmallow mess ray. Yeah, there you go Yeah,

he was all covered in goodness, but he they released

that before they released regular ray No, they

didn't actually he's coming he's listed on the

website is coming soon. Oh, okay Well, then maybe

it was the slimed version that they released

Yeah, they release slime and unslimed versions

of all the guys. Yeah, I don't actually follow

those, but I read up on them when the news comes

along. But yeah, if I got a Marshmallow version

of Ray before I got a regular Ray, I'd probably

be upset. Well, regular Ray has been out, though.

See, that's the thing. Marshmallow mess Ray is

because he's coming soon. He's probably gonna

root. He's probably gonna be released in the

same time frame as stay puffed So yeah, so they'll

go together. Yeah, they'll go together the next

one is something that I'm really super excited

to hopefully get a hold of this right here Because

I have gotten back into Masters of the universe

classics collecting actually master universe

classic is around a couple years now, but I've

I'm just super into that line now because I miss

ADT Man. This is a nice figure. Yes, the next

one is... She's got a nice figure. Yeah. Masters

of the Universe Classics Queen Marlena. She'll

be $25. She comes with an unarticulated young

cringer. She is she'll be packaged at the convention

in her royal garb and on the Monday after the

convention on mattycollector .com. She will be

packaged as Captain Glenn her earth space suit

I'm hoping someone that's going to SDCC can get

me one of them from the convention because I

don't want to have to change the damn outfits

No, I just want one I just want one for the queen

garb that's all i want i don't want to have to

wait until the monday after and buy it from matty

collector cousin on the matty collector version

she's gonna be packaged in the space suit i don't

want to have to change the damn outfits right

well you know or just get one of each and you

can have this display package true but uh...

not that the space suit is very cool it's uh...

you know uh... it's like a nineteen fifties pulp

type style where you've got you know you got

a girl in a very form -fitting you know almost

like a catsuit type of thing with a giant bubble

on her head and a ray gun you know so she she

could easily come off of uh you know the cover

of a 1950s science fiction magazine yeah i very

retro for some strange reason looking at her

up close she kind of reminds me of The Mars attacks

aliens, I know that's bad But just the way that

the space helmet is the way the bubble looks

No, no the spacesuit version What I find interesting

is that she's got a Like a like a shell former

dress. It's like a mold a molded dress that fits

around her Yeah, I think it does because it wraps

around her. Yeah, I mean that's it's it's weird

Yeah, it's weird in that I wonder what type of

material is made out of it's gonna be like a

rubbery type of thing It's probably gonna be

some sort of rubbery plastic. Yeah, cuz I mean,

I hope it's not like You know like a like a pretender

shell. I Don't think so Well, it makes me wonder

cuz it looks like It doesn't even look like her

head is the same. It's almost like her hair is

going to end up being an accessory that pops

off her head. Not sure. Yeah, you're right. That

whole bubble doesn't come off. I mean, like,

let's say for argument's sake that that bubble

is a solid piece with her head inside it, and

it just pops off and you replace the head. I

mean, I really can't tell just by looking at

it, but I... I'm not sure how much of this is

gonna be covered up by that dress I mean you

can see her her torso with a belt on it and then

and and her arms I think her arms look the same

but everything else pretty much everything else

I Think you're right. I think it's going to be

She looks a lot more matrony in that dress, if

you know what I mean. I'm looking for images

right now of the... I think you're right. What's

actually going to happen is each way the figure

is, like with the convention version, you're

going to have all the accessories for the space

version. So basically, she comes with two of

each. So she's going to cut, yeah, it is two

separate heads. OK, yeah. So it's all interchangeable

with each other. See, why bother? Why don't just

release two figures? Because that's what they,

that's what Mattel does. They've done that. Well,

like on last year's exclusive Orko with Prince

Adam. The Prince Adam came with two heads. He

came with a grin that Prince Adam had in the

cartoon, and he also came with just a regular

old He -Man head. You could interchange them

with whatever look that you wanted Prince Adam

to have. I'm trying to see if I can get actual...

Yeah, they are two separate heads here hang on

one second. Oh, thank God for action figure insider.

That's all I have to say Yeah, it's all separate

Oh, it's funny though, you know, I was actually

thinking that that plunging neckline was built

into the dress but it's not her uh her uh that's

that's the female yeah her body is a plunging

neckline yeah you can't really see it because

she's got her breath breathing mask oh and there's

the two heads i wonder if you can if you can

fit the uh oh no yeah i wonder if you can fit

the queen head inside that bubble probably not

that is really weird how they did that that is

It's interesting though. Oh, wait a minute. Oh

No, this is weird. The body is just like in a

skeleton Yeah, and there's there's a dress of

a dress plasticky mold that fits around the body

But there's also the spaceman mold that fits

around the body, right? That's weird It's interesting

For only 25 bucks. That's not bad. Look at all

the year That's a lot of stuff for 25 bucks and

you can see that's the thing, you know, like

you said Why don't they just make two figures?

Yeah, this is exactly why they won't because

they put all this stuff into it and it's only

$25 You're essentially getting two separate completely

separate figures Essentially. Yeah, it looks

I mean without legs and arms. Yeah And you get

a cringer in action figure. Yeah, because you

know, let's face it cringers don't do much Well

They eat fish Moving on to the next item here

we have Mattel's first ever Voltron action figure.

Blazing Sword Voltron, he will be $30. uh...

completely authentic to the original series he

is highly possible twenty two points of articulation

and can transform into different action poses

comes complete with translucent swords so you

can quote -unquote form blazing sword uh... blizzing

sort of all trouble in the world as you see in

my collector dot com it's so not interested he

looks interesting but i think it's okay well

that's fine he would he looks fairly good i mean

for I don't know if he's worth $30, but... I

don't know if the arms are attached to the body.

It's like, what is that? Is that a toothpick?

How does that work? It actually looks like, um...

It looks like he bends at the elbow, right? He's

got a bendy elbow, and he may twist at the bicep.

Yeah. But it doesn't look like his wrists swivel.

Oh yeah, the wrists swivel. Okay, good. Then

he it looks like he doesn't looks like his knees

will bend and his feet will bet Yeah, they won't

swivel So, you know, I mean actually when I first

heard about this I I had heard he was gonna end

up being like a masterpiece Voltron And I thought

that would mean he would have articulation on

par with You know, let's say like mp09. Well,

I mean same size as this guy 22 points of articulation

is not anything to joke about. I mean, that's

more than we get in normal figures or any other

SDCC figure. No, it depends on how tall he's

going to be. Because honestly, if he's 10 inches

tall, we've got plenty of 10 -inch tall transformer,

let's say, ultra -sized figures that have just

as much articulation, if not more. and it doesn't

say yeah yeah this is a non -transformer this

is just Voltron this is not yeah you know split

apart to the five lions and his face is a sticker

now now this is not BotCon Not terribly interested

in Voltron. Not terribly interested in Swamp

Thing either. Swamp Thing is... He's very...

He's so different. Have you ever seen the Swamp

Thing movie? Yeah, a long time ago. Okay, yeah,

but he looks just like this. The Swamp Thing

movie looks just like this. It's neat in the

sense that we've never really had a swamping

figure before. That and it's also neat in the

fact that first ever DC Universe character to

feature endoskeletal articulation. He's like

a Barbie. Pretty, I guess, I don't know. I've

never touched a Barbie. I had a little sister.

I remember with Barbie. No, I don't know. Basically

all the articulated parts are like one of the

worst things about some figures is like a Wrist

joint or something like showing like The hell

can I use as an example here? Like All right,

I've got animated RC here. Yeah, and I know she's

a robot. She's not a human type Character figure,

but oh, I don't need to use her I can actually

use a pre turning a he -man here um Like because

it's we're talking about Mattel figures and all

that stuff so like pre turning a he -man you

can see the joints Like where his knee bends

you can see the joint where his wrist bends,

okay? I think right the thing with The the swamp

thing figure is all that stuff is on the inside

of the figure right so he's just got like a rubber

sheath His arms and legs are condoms No, I I

see where I see where the Where the where this

would be important, right? Because you can't

see where they aren't bands or where that you

can't see where everything it would kind of be

almost like a revolt tech figure except with

a bendy shell around him. The next one is the

Young Justice Superboy in Cloning Chamber. This

is based off of the premiere episodes of the

cartoon. This, for me, if I was going to get

it at 20 bucks would be a display piece only.

It wouldn't be where I would want to take the

figure out and display the figure without the

cloning chamber. The cloning chamber is cardboard.

You know, it's like it'd be one for 35 for mentor

for $20 for a car. Yeah, no, yeah Uh, let's see...

What happened using Superman's DNA without his

knowledge or consent? Cadmus is forced to grown

Superboy using telepathic geomorph genomes to

make virtual slave of Superman's son. The cloning

tank includes Superboy plus three telepath geomorph

genomes with the press of a button inside of

the cloning tank lights emitting blue glow. This

version of Superboy will be available to see.

Yeah, there's no way that this is cardboard.

If it's gonna emit light, if the cloning tank

lights emitting a blue glow, there's no way that

that's cardboard. No way. But again, this is

something that I could like pass on. This isn't

something that I would need to have. I like the

Young Justice stuff, I like what they're doing

with the toy line, but it's not a toy line that

I'm gonna start collecting anytime soon. the

base. See the silver part at the bottom? You

see where the blue parts attach? Tell me that's

not insert slot A and the tab B. It might be,

but it could also be plastic. The next thing

I... Sure, I'll take cardboard. Maybe it's got

a little light thing inside. Sure, that's kind

of neat. If you really like that series and you

want a white Superman, sure. Or I should say

a Superman clad in white. Yes The next thing

I find highly suspect Hot wheels back to the

future vehicle $35 for this thing the only thing

that they're showing us is the plutonium Case

that it comes in yeah, it's like a yeah This

is there's only two vehicles Doc Brown made in

the entire three -part franchise There's the

DeLorean and it's multiple different versions

throughout time and then there's the time train

So it could only be one of those two things in

a Hot Wheels thing for 35 bucks. No You know

Well, I can't really say but you know They could

they could just as easily release like the ice

cream truck that the Libyans came in I know They

could they could release a horse. Oh My god,

I don't know. I don't know what's it. Well, it

says vehicle horse is animal. So nice box I mean

it was but it's gonna be painted. Well It's shiny.

It's not just regular cardboard. It's gonna I

think it's gonna end up being like If you're

familiar with, like, the BotCon packaging. Yeah.

You know, fragile. Don't want to mess with it

too much, but it's very pretty. Yeah. Yeah, but

no, actually, I don't really care what's inside.

Yeah, I don't either. They don't even tell you

how big the box is. I mean, honestly, is this,

like, the size of a Matchbox that you open up

and, oh, look, there's a Matchbox car inside?

Because that's not really what I thought it was.

Yeah, I'm not sure. Unless you open the box and

it's got a voice chip inside. Great Scott! You

know, that would be kind of weird. 1 .21 watts

The next one I Would if I ever got it, I would

only get it just to keep it in the packaging

again. It's a Hot Wheels thing Hot Wheels Frankenberry

vehicle $20 this Frankenberry cereal box with

Hot Wheels car inside Will take you right back

to being seven years old and watching Saturday

morning cartoons. What cars inside? It's the

popular dairy delivery vehicle, of course, because

you'd need some milk to go with your cereal.

Shake the box and hear the awesome cereal sound

coming from inside. And I like the Boo -Berry.

I like the Boo -Berry. He's got a Boo -Berry

balloon, which I think is funny. And there's

a little Count Chocula bat on the back, too.

So it's neat. I think that it does remind me

of when I was seven and we used to eat Frankenberry

and Blueberry and Count Chocula. But this also

makes me doubt the Back to the Future stuff because

this is a matchbox car. How big do you think

that box is? That box has to be about five inches

by five inches, roughly. No bigger. Well, maybe

even smaller than that. This is going to be a

very small box. And see, if you look at the two

different price points, if the Frankenberry box

is $20, and the Back to the Future box is $35,

what are the different sizes between the two

boxes? There's a $15 price difference, so how

much bigger can some Matchbox thing be for Back

to the Future? They're going to have two cars

in it. No, they're going to have all three. They're

going to have Matchbox Delorians from Back to

the Future 1, Back to the Future 2, and then

Back to the Future 3, the rail Delorian. You

know what, actually, no, they're probably going

to have one that's just a Delorian. Then they're

gonna have one with the the turbos on the back

and mr. Thirsty. I'm sorry, mr. Fusion and on

the back and maybe with the wheels turned up,

you know, but maybe not because the damn thing

has to roll because it's a matchbox car and then

maybe One, you know Libyan ice cream truck, but

no, they're not gonna release. They're not gonna

release a train that's in scale No, no, not not

train, dude the DeLorean rail version. Oh, oh,

okay. The car without the wheels would just,

yeah. Yeah, no, I know what you're talking about,

yeah. That would be, that would be interesting,

but you know, what are they gonna do? Just repaint

the tires? Oh look, there's no rubber on these

tires. I know. We saved ourselves 50 cents in

rubber by removing the tires. Yes, moving along

to the Green Lantern stuff because nobody cares

about Polly Pocket or Monster High. You know,

to be honest, I think that the Masters of the

Universe, or I should say the She -Ra, right?

And the Polly Pocket is a nice crossover. No,

I'm serious because, you know, I mean there's

people who collect the Masters of the Universe

and the She -Ra who will buy it. Yeah, I mean

that's hardcore Polly pocket collectors out there

that have to own all the Polly pocket But there's

plenty of Masters universe fans out there that

will probably buy this At 20 bucks, I doubt it.

Well, this is something Polly pocket is what

a bigger package you think this is? Well, look

at the figures that are in the middle image there.

I mean they're not I don't know how big Polly

Pockets are. When I was little, Polly Pocket

was the size of my pinky. It was tiny. Well,

that's the way they look now. I mean, I'm holding

my thumb and index finger up against the image,

and it looks tiny. But the thing of it is, I

think this is Mattel's way to get the collectors

to buy this for their kids. Collectors that may

have children. Maybe they want to ease them into

collecting toys. This would be a good thing for

those people You know, I'm not as familiar with

the the newer Polly Pocket stuff, but this looks

very animated me Hmm could be yeah relation girls

with great big eyes But no, I'm not interested

in Monster High either, so we can kick right

in. So yes, Green Lantern. Killawog will be $25,

standing at a hardly nearly 8 inches tall. This

is our biggest and boldest Killawog to date,

sculpted directly from the digital files provided

by the movie makers. This fully articulated figure

is in scale with 6 -inch movie master's figure,

sold at retail. They'll be available at first

at SDCC and then on metacollector .com. He looks

really interesting. I wish he had more of like

a Justice League Unlimited type of feel, obviously.

That's not gonna happen since it's Green Lantern

the movie. Movie toys, yeah. Yeah, I don't care

for the movie designs. I mean, the figure itself

looks awesome. Yeah, you can't really see it

here in these pictures, but I've seen like close

up pictures of him. And he's got a lot of detail

in his body. I mean, his skin is not like skin.

It looks like a rhino hide. It's got a lot of

texture to it. He's just a really neat figure

and he's very posable. And I don't want to say

I can't wait to see the movie, but I think you're

not being familiar with Killawog or Green Lantern

for the most part. I don't know how tall he's

supposed to be, but it'll be very cool to see.

you know this very very large kill a log character

on the screen and the last item is a carol ferris

barbie for the green lantern line nobody cares

carol ferris is the she's basically how Jordan's

love interest yeah why does she have a flight

suit she she a fighter pilot She owns Ferris.

Her father owns Ferris Aerospace. I forget what

the hell it's called. It's some sort of aerospace

thing. So do you think that he met her or that

she actually got him the job? The only This is

just what I know and I'm going off of Justice

League new frontier the DC universe original

animated movie Hal Jordan is a fighter pilot

in I believe it was the Korean War. Okay, I believe

it was And then, you know, the war is over, Gum's

home, and I'm just going off of a new frontier,

the DVD New Frontier storyline of how his origin

went in that. In the movie, he had to shoot this

Korean soldier because the kid didn't realize

that the war is over, and it is a kid. Like,

I don't know, 11, 12 years old. And that really

kind of scars him. His buddy Ace gets him, you

know, an interview with Carol Ferris. You know,

he turns on, Hal turns on the charm, you know,

this, that, and the other thing. I'm shattered,

but I can still turn on the charm. Well, time

has passed since that. Like, he can't, like,

the work. He's not like sitting in a wheelchair

with a sign that says, you know, we'll work for

food. They basically beat through a meeting of

him getting a job with them. I don't know, and

I know I'm probably botching the entire story.

I don't read the Grand Lantern comics. I don't

really know. I just know from what I've seen

in cartoons, damn it. All I know about DC is

what I've learned from Bruce Tim. Bruce Tim has

been my window into DC and that's it. What I

dig about this is, number one, it's got an internal

skeleton, just like Swamp Thing. Oh, really?

Yeah. Well, all Barbies do. They have some for

the last 30 years. Yeah, that's true. I like

the package. I like the fact that it doesn't

come out and say, I'm a Barbie. It says Green

Lantern across the front, and it's got the Green

Lantern insignia in the plastic itself around

the front. You know, they're not they're not

limiting themselves to just Barbie collectors

or little girls, you know, it's like I don't

want to say that there are any little boys are

gonna buy this I want to buy this but you know,

they're they're not they're not boys by action

figures. This is a doll It's a very pretty and

she's $35. I'm sorry the most expensive action

figure I'd barely keep that thing on. She's got

a little helmet. You put a little helmet on her.

How cool would that look? She's got a fighter

pilot helmet with all that red hair hanging out

of it. You'd be like, you're hot. You're a very

hot action figure. I tell you, if I was Buzz

Armstrong, I'd be like, buy me a Carol Ferris.

and bring her into my toy box. Wow. Anyway. I

don't know. I'm not entirely sure how interested

I am in the Maddie Collector stuff at SGCC. There's

so much other neat stuff going on. Well, no one's

really announced anything. I mean, Hasbro really

has. They haven't really shown us anything like

Maddie has. I mean, I know the announcements

are going to happen. They're going to come. Honestly,

Hasbro probably won't announce anything until

after BotCon, obviously. Obviously, yeah. As

far as Transformers go, they're not going to

announce anything for SDCC until after BotCon.

Like the G .I. Joe con that came and went a little

while ago, they announced the G .I. Joe stuff

they'll be releasing. Yeah. So I'm assuming that

sometime at BotCon they'll release that too.

Or the Transformers stuff they'll be releasing.

Sometime in between there and whenever SDCC.

Yeah, it's like the end of July Yeah, July 24th

25th something like that. Yeah, it's kind of

like e3. It's like e3 is out in Vegas It's like

every year I say I'm gonna go to e3 I'm gonna

go to the SDCC and I never do but eventually,

you know, maybe when my boys are old enough to

go I'll take them Yeah, Aiden will meet a lot

of superheroes out there. That's right Superheroes

and stormtroopers. Well, the thing is with STCC

is there's a lot of anime out there and I don't

think he's I don't think he says There's a lot

of regular stuff, too. There's not just anime.

Yeah. Yeah, I know I know but like if we go to

C2E2 Or or in August we're gonna go to the Chicago

Comic Con, you know, I haven't seen a lot of

Anime characters there, but I do see a lot of

superhero characters Yeah, and you know even

some of the that are old that you know that I

would be like wow Wow, that's really that's really

reach in there as a lot of people aren't gonna

know that one like Bell's share did Dark Horse

Dark Horses ghost character, and I don't think

there's been a ghost comic in 20 years Yeah,

but yeah, it's like oh my god. You know and I

said hey, it's ghosts and She says, oh, thank

you for not calling me the White Queen. I guess

they're similar, except Ghost has a brunette,

she's got a hood. The White Queen's blonde. That's

the big difference. Well, no, Ghost has a cape,

that's right. Well, no, I think the White Queen

has a cape too. So what it comes down to is we

see a lot of superheroes, not a whole lot of

anime, but from the pictures of SCCC, I see it's

a lot of anime. the occasional World of Warcraft

character. Yeah, it's a lot of everything out

there, though. I mean, and because that thing

is so, like, SDCC, that's the penultimate thing

for anything now. It's not just comics. Yeah.

It's not just movies. It's everything. Movies,

it's, yeah. Especially movies. Yeah. I mean,

that's like, you got a movie that you're wanting

to really tease up to somebody. tron legacy i've

nobody expected that yeah you know uh... you

know that kind of stuff uh... so it's not just

and sdcc is is to the point now where it's it's

mainstream it's not just the culture anymore

it's mainstream almost well to a certain extent

yeah but i mean you know they're not gonna you're

not gonna see uh... panel for the next chick

flick at SDCC. It's still stuff that's relevant

to geek culture. You're going to have your superhero

movies, your Tron, maybe a couple more films.

If they're going to have a Friday the 13th remake,

they would probably preview it at SDCC, but they're

not going to have the sequel to The Love Letter

or whatever that movie is previewed at SDCC.

Who's going to go to that? All the kids are dressed

up in Twilight characters. They might go that

way. Oh my god. I don't know. Seriously, fuck

that book series. Fuck those movies. Oh my god.

Exactly. I hate Twilight. Ah, that's right. What

would happen if I threw you out in the sunlight?

I would burn up. Because there's no such thing

as sparkly vampires. That was just something

I saw on the internet. I don't even know why

that came to me. Apparently there's a vampire

series where, well, vampire actually said that.

I want to say it's the sci -fi one where the

vampire and the werewolf and the ghost live together.

But I'm not sure. Wait, what was the quote again?

I don't know exactly what it was. It was, you

know, something about, you know, what happens

if I throw you out into the sun, I'll burn up.

Yeah, he says I'll burn up because there's no

such thing as sparkly vampires. No, I was thinking

of something else though No, I was thinking of

somebody asking Angel on on angel what what would

happen if he? Stepped into the Sun and he would

I just thought of it as just a regular quote

not a Twilight Jam But, uh, yeah. No, it's like

True Blood. I watched True Blood, because when

he goes out in the sunlight, he burns to a crisp.

Yeah. But, uh, yeah, I can't get on there. Okay.

On that note, I think we need to end Toycast
