So we're good. Good. Shut up. Asshat. This is

Toycast. I, of course, am TFU and Mike, and joining

me is Slimeblower Bob. Hello. Hello. Mothafuckin'

Optobotamus, dumbass Californian bastard. What

up? Yo, you're just, you're just hatin'. Don't

be a playa hatin'. Shut up. Uh, we are here in

episode 90 - Shut up, dammit! Sorry, alright,

this is your show. God. We are here in episode

91 of Toycast to do a SDCC San Diego Comic Con

pre -show because this is the first year that

Optobotamus will be going to the convention.

Optobotamus gonna be at the - I don't know what

I was just trying to do right there. Essentially

what this podcast is going to be about is Paul's

first impressions of what he wants to see there,

what he's actually going to be paying attention

to. We'll be talking a little bit about some

of the exclusives and all that good stuff. Let's

start at the beginning, Paul. What made you seek

out being able to go to SDCC this year? You know,

honestly, I feel like I'm being interviewed here.

Just shut up and answer the damn question. I

feel important. Honestly, I've always wanted

to go. Last year was a really kind of a strong

urge. A bunch of my friends... Went to it like

the the mechs of bottomists went to it. You know

a couple other friends and things of that nature,

but last year I went to BotCon and That was an

exorbitant amount of money, and I kind of you

know was like you know what I'm I I can I can

handle going to local conventions once a year

San Diego Comic Con being fairly local San Diego's

only about two hours from where I live and You

know, it's like, conversely, you know, BotCon

was in Pasadena, which is about an hour away.

So it was like, as long as the conventions are

close and affordable, I can try handling going

to one per year. And if BotCon doesn't come back

out to California, I always have kind of a backup.

San Diego Comic Con and it was one it was a you

know it's it's the mother of all conventions

this is Everything this is this is bot con this

is Joe con this is Power con this is every single

convention For every single thing nerd related

that you could possibly think of it is the biggest

gathering it's the biggest convention gathering

in the world and that That was a very appealing

thing now that being said it's also the very

it's the busiest for conventions So there is

a lot of hype around a lot of things a lot of

a lot of collectors like going to this because

You'll get to see panels with your favorite.

You know movies coming out. I'm really excited

for example There's a panel that I don't know

if I'm actually gonna get to see it is for the

upcoming Hobbit movie. I'm Huge Lord of the Ring

fan, and I'm I would absolutely love to see that

you know last year at comic -con They have like

a whole Avengers panel where the entire cast

was there and I saw some clips on on YouTube

and it's just it's the Mecca of Nerd dumb I mean

that's that that's like if you watch if you watch

the if you watch what the hell's the guy I can't

think of the guy's name um Yeah, I just comic

book I the comic book guy from the Simpsons,

right? This is his wet dream That is you know

You know in reality and it's it's a wonderful

thing you get out there you dress up. There's

a lot of cosplay I know um on Twitter Mariah,

baby is going to be going she's going to be dressed

up i believe is blackout or not i don't know

if you have to uh... transformers prime breakdown

breakdown yeah which she she and they all that

uh... but not this past year and what's amazing

this is you know people dress up in you know

it is like you get some people that go to Walmart

and they buy a spider -man mask and they put

it on and they go there and you're gonna have

plenty of kids walking around doing that but

she full -out made an entire outfit a whole rig

rigging system to Walk around and she looks like

breakdown. I mean this stuff is amazing. So this

is really the culmination of everything this

past year and Everything that we have to look

forward to in the next year in terms of collecting

and adult collectors. So that was really my biggest

push and one of those things I wanted to go out

and do it and it just had to become feasible

and affordable and the biggest thing is it always

takes place during the summer. My wife is a teacher

so she doesn't work during the summer so usually

that means that our finances are a little bit

more limited. I'm to the point right now with

my YouTube career where I'm able to support us

for this time, and it's not a hindrance whatsoever.

So I'm able to go to Comic Con, have a good time,

and we'll see. It's in less than a week. Yep.

It's amazing. Yes. Now, have you looked at the

schedules and all that good stuff? Because actually,

this episode of Toycast will go up. The week

comic -con starts and then when you you know,

obviously once it's over we'll do another episode

You know where you you know, you know give us

all the info what you you know What you've got

where you went what you saw are there any like

specific panels that you know There's the biggest

problem that I have and this being my first comic

-con. I kind of did a very stupid thing I told

a whole bunch of people that follow me that I'm

going to comic -con And if anybody wants anything

let me know and I'll pick it up for you So you're

gonna be in lines all day I'm basically gonna

be in lines all day, and this is where you know

I was saying you know I don't know if I'm gonna

actually get to see any panels or anything because

those panels a lot of them Those require lines

you have to be in a line to get in to see these

panels, so it's gonna be very very cramped I'm

gonna be like basically I mean and you know getting

in a line from what I understand it's not that

bad you're in line you know say you go to line

for some panel or some lines aren't gonna be

that bad I can't imagine like say NECA being

all that bad so I mean I'll be able to get in

there get out you know fairly easily but Hasbro

and Mattel I'm gonna be in line for those for

a while and what they do is while you're sitting

there in line they hand you a piece of paper

with all the figures that that particular Company

has so Hasbro is gonna have the the you know

the Bruticus the Cliffjumper the his tank a Whole

bunch of other stuff. I mean my little pony I

mean there's a whole bunch of stuff that you're

gonna have there You're gonna have this whole

list on here And you're gonna buy and it tells

you how many you're allowed to get at each and

things like that So you sit there and you mark?

What you want and how many you want of each and

then when you get to the front of the line? You

hand it to them they go and get it You pay, you

leave, and that's the end of it. But it's not

just gonna be me that has to get stuff. I gotta

get, I think it's almost $900 worth of other

stuff for other people that I have to get. So

I'm gonna be there, my wife is gonna be there,

and I got three other friends, four other friends

actually, that I'm gonna have to utilize in order

to get all this stuff. Because from what I understand,

on Friday. See, I'm only going for two days.

I'm only going for Thursday and Friday. So anything

that happens Saturday and Sunday, I'm not going

to be a part of. And I'll get to why that's the

case in a second. So Thursday and Friday, I'm

going to be stuck there just basically in line

buying stuff. Now, I only got Thursday and Friday

because the first time The way that they actually

run registration is they do it all online. The

past couple years I guess you could register

for next year's convention if you're actually

there at the current year. From what I understand

they got rid of that because so many people were

buying the tickets that it was already sold out

by the end of the weekend. What they do now is...

You know sometime you know in the future though.

They'll open it up, and there would be registration

you go in online You buy the tickets however

many you want for whatever days the actual comic

-con starts July 11th Wednesday yeah, it goes

from July 11th to July 15th and You can buy a

whole day now July 11th is only it's called preview

night All that is is basically a way for dealers

to get in and buy all the shit that they want.

That's what they call preview night. You get

an advanced preview. It's advanced sales, essentially.

Basically, yeah. Now, I could get in there if

I bought the ticket for it, but I really didn't

want to go for the whole damn thing, to be totally

honest. I really wanted to go there for a lot

of the toys, and I'm going to be going around,

and there's some panels that I would like to

see, but really, I'm not that upset about missing

out on the panels. by being in line for these

toys because I really want to go there for the

toys. That's my biggest thing. I'm not a celebrity

person. I live out here. I'm half an hour or

45 minutes with traffic from Hollywood. I don't

need to see a celebrity. It doesn't make any

difference to me. That's why when I go to BotCon,

I don't need to get in line to get an autograph

for someone. If I ran into him, sure, it'd be

one thing, but I'm not gonna sit there and wait

in line. To get, you know, Peter Cullen, even

Peter Cullen, I wouldn't sit there and wait in

line. You know, but if I bumped into him, you'd

better believe I would ask for his autograph.

Worst Transformers fan ever. I know, I know.

You know, and people have said that. I mean,

I can understand the fact that you live out there

and all that stuff, but I mean, it doesn't matter

where a convention is. If I get to go and I get

to, you know... I get to go to the, you know,

the whole, you know, however many, like say the

convention is four days. You know, if I get to

go for all four days, you know, the first couple

of days I'll use to do whatever shopping and

then the last two days, if I'm going, I would

use to do autographs and panels and everything

else. I know you're only going for the two days

and that's fine. Um, but It's just I mean I I'm

not I'm not one of those kind of people that

get starstruck I mean if I had a chance to meet

these people If I bumped into them, I would totally

say something. I mean that'd be you know, so

That's why you know conventions such as a TF

con or auto assembly where a lot of these voice

actors actually Hobnob and hang out with the

people I would totally be down with something

like that because yeah, I would want to sit there

and just bullshit with them I don't want to sit

there and wait in line. Hey, Mr. Cullen, thank

you for the great job. I'm basically going to

be saying the same shit that he's heard 20 ,000

other times. What do you say to Peter Cullen

that he hasn't already heard before? If I could

sit there and just BS with him, that would be

cool. I would totally be down with that. If I

didn't have a time limit, I would totally be

cool with that. It doesn't make that big of a

deal to me. When the tickets first went on sale,

I actually missed The first sale for them and

I was all pissed off. I was like, man, I guess

I'm not going to Comic -Con. And I think it was

Mariah who said, you know, don't worry, they'll

open it again. You know, people, you know, they

have refund, or not refunds, but like people

who order stuff and then their credit cards come

back has declined. You know, things like that.

They reissued them and I guess they had something

like 500, or 5 ,000, I can't remember what number

it was, additional tickets. For sale that they

released in May I think maybe May something like

that. I think probably May and They're like at

8 o 'clock a .m. Pacific Standard Time they're

gonna go on sale You can only get to it if you

click on this link in your email So on and so

forth so I call my buddy the mix the bottom is

sound like dude We gotta try to get in there

because a lot of times the room locks down. You're

in a virtual waiting room and you wait basically

in there for your next, you're the next person

or whatever, you know, to be able to buy your

tickets. And if that room fills up with a virtual

amount of people, the room's locked and nobody

else can get in there. So I'm like, dude, we

gotta try doing it. We're gonna double team this.

You try getting in at the same time. If you get

in, and I don't, I'm just gonna go through you

so on so forth you know blah blah blah is it

great cool no problem so eight o 'clock rolls

around and I'm sitting there and I'm clicking

the link you know and finally I got in and I

had my clock on my computer opened up so it's

like as soon as it hit eight o 'clock in zero

seconds I was hitting the button and at about

ten seconds after I got in the room and I'm there

and I'm sitting there, and it said that I was

like number 16 in line. And I'm like, oh my God,

are you kidding me? Yeah, it's fast, isn't it?

I was like, that was 16? Well, no, no, 16, dude.

I mean, it was - I know. I mean, I can't, I couldn't

believe I was that close to the front. That amazed

me. So, all right, but I mean, like, if you think

of between, like, 7, 59, 59, and 8 o 'clock,

zero, zero. Right 15 people click that link before

you and yeah, you know, you're the 16th person.

That's it's not only amazing That's that's a

freaking miracle. Here's the thing. This is this

is what's even crazier So I'm in ten seconds

later, right? Mikey makes a bottom is calls me

up. I look at the clock It is now 45 seconds

after eight o 'clock and I'm what I asked him

I like dude, where are you at? I'm number 16

in line. He's like I couldn't even get in I'm

like what? And he's like yeah, the rooms already

locked down. I'm like 45 seconds into it Yeah,

that means that means from the time that you

know so basically at that point time it like

exploded to like a Thousand people getting in

there per second, and I'm like I'm like are you

freaking kidding me, so I'm like oh my god And

he's like whatever you do Paul do not hit the

refresh button on your computer because if you

do it automatically kicks you out And he's like,

when you get in there to actually buy your tickets,

do it fast. Because until you actually check

out, there's no guarantee that somebody else

that's already in there buying them doesn't buy

them. Oh, so it's like a Matty thing where it's

like, these figures aren't guaranteed to you

even though they're in your cart until you hit

checkout. Wow. Kind of, yeah. So you're sitting

there, and I got two tickets. for me and my wife

for Thursday and Friday. We had already sat down.

We'd already talked what days we wanted to do

it. They had all four days. They had Thursday,

Friday, and Saturday. Wednesday you could only

get if you bought the advanced thing. months

ago. So they have Thursday, Friday, Saturday,

and Sunday available. They had all four days.

But we just chose to do the Thursday and Friday.

We're staying down there Saturday. We're going

to probably do like SeaWorld or something. And

she's got an old college friend that lives down

there she wants to hang out with. So we're going

to be hanging out down there and stuff. But it's

absolutely insane. And I'm like in there, you

know, the tickets aren't that bad when you really

think about it. They're only forty dollars per

day. So, our two days, you know, it's $160 for

the two of us. That's really not all that bad.

You know, I mean, when you compare it, because

I'm constantly comparing things to how BotCon

was. And to go to BotCon, you know, to buy the

ticket for the Primus package, which, sure, it

includes the toys and, you know, all that stuff,

but it's almost $500. And I'm like, wow. You

know, but, you know, so the tickets are cheap,

but what they, I don't want to say they get you

with, that all the places that are there all

the companies that are there like I said this

is the Mecca of everything every toy company

every comic company every sci -fi company is

there and they're peddling something and that's

how they get their money by selling all these

exclusive toys and things like that so since

we're gonna jump into the toys here yeah we're

not gonna talk about all of the stuff because

actually there's a link in the chat window there

that goes to a page that has that lists a majority

of all of the 2012 SDCC exclusives. We're not

going to talk about all these because none of

us really care about. We're going to start with

Hasbro. Oh, but you don't want to talk about

the Huckleberry and Toblin toys? Exclusives?

I shouldn't even say toys because they're all

stupid. I'm sorry. I'm just fucking stupid. So

we're going to start with Hasbro. Hasbro. Shut

up. We're going to start with the GI Joe 2 exclusives.

You have Jinx, two versions available, red and

white. And you have the Transformers GI Joe crossover

shockwave deco his tank with Destro, energon

cubes, bat trooper, and mini sound wave. That

thing, TFW2005 apparently got an advanced copy

of it to do picture reviews. Thing looks ridiculously

awesome. It does. I really like it. I am not

a huge GI Joe fan. I've started recently kind

of buying some, actually, just because, I mean,

they're not bad. I mean, they're actually good

figures, but... I mean, I never got into the

cartoon all that much. I mean, I've told the

story a million times that it was a show that

was on in my trek back home from school. So I

never really got to actually watch the cartoon.

But my cousin had every single one of them that

you could think of. And he and I were recently

talking. And it fell through because the dumbass,

he thought he still had the pterodrome. He had

it when he was a kid. He had that. He had the

USS flag. His parents were well off, so they

bought him everything under the sun. I don't

remember what it was. It was like a space station

from G .I. Joe, but he had that, too. I mean,

he had everything that you could possibly think

of. And I asked him if he had it, and he's like,

yeah, I got it. It's probably something in my

closet. I'm trying to get rid of all this stuff.

He's like, I'll probably sell it to you for like

50 bucks. And I'm like, OK, I'll take it for

$50, and I'll pay for shipping too. And he's

like, OK, great. Let me clean it up, and I'll

put it back together. Little does the idiot know

that the thing is worth like $600, $700. but

then he got a like a book price guide for it

and found out that it's worth like 250 dollars

so i'm like i'm like no i i you know i i played

it off like it was dumb i'm like nah i don't

really want to pay that much for it i don't really

you know collect gi joe all i really want it

was because you know we played with it when i

was a kid and it's kind of nostalgic blah blah

blah he's like all right well would you do like

75 dollars I'm like, yeah, I'll do 75 bucks.

I'm like, I could do that. You know, then a couple

days later, he messages me. He's like, my mom

must have got rid of it. I'm like, son of a bitch.

He's like, but I got the jet that it comes with.

I'm like, well, I don't want the jet if I don't

have the damn base. Yeah. But the His Tank was

great. So the Shockwave, Deco, His Tank, and

the Jinx. Bob, any thoughts on these? Um, I don't

know. Uh, I'm not a big crossover guy. I mean,

I Don't know. It just really doesn't do anything

for me Well the crowd I mean it's what I like

about it is it's a homage to there was a comic

book series that crossed over the two and had

Cobra and GI Joe finding out about the Transformers

So that's what this is kind of an homage to now

for a long for the longest time people be like

Wouldn't it be cool if you could have like a

his tank or I don't know something else I'm just

saying his tank cuz that's all I can think of

wouldn't be cool if we had you know this vehicle

transform into something I'm like, you know or

be able to have your GI Joe's ride around in

a transformer I'm like, yeah, that'd be kind

of cool. I guess sure. Well, yeah But this doesn't

transform or anything Right, no, this is just

a stationary toy. This is a G .I. Joe toy. G

.I. Joe vehicle, essentially, with a shockwave

deco and a Destro figure, kind of like the Cobra

Commander figure that came with last year's exclusive,

the Starscreams Sky Striker. Right, right. I

mean, a mini sound wave, that's pretty cool.

I like the mini sound wave for the fact that...

We're gonna be getting you know now a masterpiece

version of sound wave and I think that the mini

sound wave would look cool Next to it because

everybody knows one of the biggest Mass shifting

transformers aside for Megatron was sound wave

so if you have if you had that big old Robot

version of sound wave in masterpiece form with

the little tiny one. I think that would be kind

of cool Now, is it $60 cool? I don't know, but

I'm getting it. I'm just glad it doesn't transform,

because the whole crossover Transformers, kind

of the Star Wars - Well, right, exactly. Well,

the thing about the SDCC GI Joe Transformers

crossover exclusives, it isn't meant to be like

those crappy Star Wars and Marvel transforming

crossover things, where it's more so - Oh like

like Paul said homaging a comic or homaging this

or homaging that whereas it's a GI Joe vehicle

But with a Transformers deco as I said So yeah,

no, thank God. It doesn't transform. Yeah, I

agree is Okay, we also have from Hasbro Hollywood

gem. Hell. Yeah, whatever that's all over that

There's something from you that's gonna be all

over that no, my wife She went to her parents

house. We were over there one time and she actually

found all of her old gem dolls and let my daughter

play with them and she didn't understand what

it was until the hubs started playing them and

then it kind of got her into it. So it was kind

of cool to have like the all the old school gem

dolls that my wife still has and let my daughter

play with it. But if you look at the picture

of of that, I don't know if you click the link

or not, but right where the stand is, it's kind

of. Yeah. Yeah. It's a naughty place. Yeah, it's

in her Yeah, it's like gem camel toe I seriously

should be like when I'm when I'm at there and

if they have it displayed there I really want

to pull over a hasbo exact and be exact and be

like Do you really think that was the best place

to put that with kids running around? Like hips

or something Kind of like the Hot Toys ones.

Oh, god. Yeah. All right. I don't know. It's

cool looking, though. I mean, it's not something

that I'm going to be picking up. But it's definitely

nice that they're referencing that. I like to

see that. Yeah. Yeah. And then the real deal

for Marvel as far as Uh, you know, they've got

three different ones. Master Survival 3 -pack,

Baron Zemo, Radioactive Man, Tiger Shark, X -Force

3 -pack, and Psylocke, Wolverine, and Archangel.

But the big one from Marvel this year is 4 -foot

special edition helicarrier with Captain America

and Maria Hill. And big one is an understatement.

Yeah, 4 -foot long helicarrier. This is quite

possibly one of the biggest toys... in recent

memory, and it's only $129. Now I say that, you

know, I'm like, it's only $129. You know, what's

really kind of cool about this is that it is

a full foot longer than what the retail version

is going to be. And I think the retail version

is going for like $99 or something like that.

So not only do you get an extra foot, But that

Maria Hill figure, that's exclusive to this.

That's not going to be anywhere. Right. So really

cool. Does it have like ships or something that

are like planes that launch off of it? Just looking

at the picture, it looks like it has like a groove

or something. I don't know. Maybe that's just

paint. I don't think it has electronics in it.

I think it's just to place the jets. I don't

think it actually has an action feature. Like

it flips up and something launches off of it?

As far as I know, it doesn't. Now, I have seen

there's been an unboxing video, or not a video,

but a picture tutorial showing it off and everything.

I don't remember seeing anything like that. Yeah,

but there I mean there's some really kind of

cool things about it now with a lot of SDCC things

there are You know special paint jobs that they're

given. You know, there's special stickers. There's

a sticker section on here I don't know where

it is actually on this picture, but you can put

it on there and it says like SDCC There's something

that's actually kind of cool on the underside

of it. I don't know if this is exclusive only

to the SDCC version or if this is just something

that they're doing and all of it, but on the

bottom of it, it's actually stamped Stark Enterprises

as if it was made by Tony Stark. So, I mean,

there's a lot of really kind of cool stuff with

it, but this thing is, like I said, four feet

long. I mean, that's ridiculous. Bob, how tall

are your kids? That's probably my four -year

-old. It's about as tall as he is. See, that's

a big toy. Hi, sweetie. Well, I'm just trying

to think of the box. I wonder if it comes in

pieces and you have to put it together or if

it's actually like a four foot long box. No,

it's it's well, number one, it's a big ass box.

I mean, I've seen like I said, I've seen the

picture. It's got a big old thing of the white

version of Nick Fury. Oh, Nick Fury. Yeah. And

it's like, you know, she'll want you or something

like that. But it's a big box. You do have to

assemble it. Mostly it's like putting the bottom

and the top together. So it's really not that

bad, but it's not shrunken down by any stretch

of the imagination. It's a big box. That's why,

honestly, I was going to buy a couple of these.

To be totally honest, just to turn around and

resell them and try to pay for some stuff. I

mean, these things are going for easily right

now, almost $300. on eBay. Scalpers are evil.

Well, I mean, and in all fairness, in all fairness,

it would be considerably more expensive for you

to come down here to buy it yourself. That's

true. That's how, I mean, that's the logic behind

it. Now, I'm not doing that. Well, no, and I

understand that, but what I'm saying is, you

know, and this is my main thing with eBay and

selling toys in general, and I know... Not really

that it's your excuse But it's one of your reasons

why you charge a little bit more than most other

people will is because California adds additional

tax No, no, no, no, no, no, no None of our stuff

is none of our stuff. Let me I mean the stuff

at comic -con is taxed tax is included in the

price I know that but what I'm saying is in general

when it comes to selling on eBay Yes, and all

of that crap that that entails I have always

been the type of person that would price it fairly

close to what the actual price is and then charge,

you know, whatever the shipping would be to ship

it. You know, so essentially cost plus shipping

versus, you know, letting it go, you know, having

someone, you know, do a scalping bidding war,

you know, I don't know. That's just one of the

things I'm just not that thrilled with when it

comes to eBay. No, and I totally understand that.

It's just, you know, it's the convenience, you're

paying for the convenience of somebody else getting

it for you. And honestly, as much stuff as I'm

getting, like I said, I'm getting, you know,

$900 worth of stuff. How much, I literally, if

you broke it down, I literally am only making

$90. off of all the stuff that I'm getting because

I'm only charging 15 % in addition to what it

is. So if you got the $100 San Diego Comic -Con

Bruticus, you pay me $115. So I'm only making

50 bucks off that. Oh, no, no, no, no. And I'm

not saying it's about you making money. It's

about people that can't go that you said, hey,

I'm going as long as you can pay me for the stuff

in advance or let me know what you want and whatever

else. So no, I know for you it's not about making

money. I'm just saying when you made the comment

of, oh, I thought about. getting a few extras

of those and and putting money base because they're

going for three hundred dollars unlike is scalpers

are evil because they are yeah and and i'm not

saying that you are a scalper i don't know that

whole notion of in general, what people do. And

that's perfectly fair, you know what I mean?

Talking about the Ninja Turtle figures, you know,

before we started recording, scalpers are already

taking 8 .99 figures and they're selling them

for 30 bucks on eBay. Oh my god, that's fucking

stupid. It is, it is. Now, that, that's one thing.

That's, you know, I mean people are able to get

those. San Diego Comic Con is a little bit different.

Not everybody can actually get to that. And I'm

probably not going to buy the helicarrier simply

because shipping on that is going to be ridiculous.

Yeah, it's going to be a nightmare. I mean, that's

going to be easily $75 to ship that thing. Yeah,

yeah, yeah, it's not it's not worth you trying

for first of all standing in line to get it Yeah,

and then having to either you know go to the

post office in San Diego and ship it out or having

to take it back home to Where you live and then

you know, whatever else but anyway, um, there's

going to be a My Little Pony exclusive It's Derpy

Hoos Derpy and I'm I'm buying that honestly Just

because I think the name of it is ridiculously

hilarious. People that don't know the story about

Derpy, apparently it was an animation error,

and it got taken down, and everybody loved it,

everybody thought it was hilarious, and I guess

they did some kind of like an online voting thing,

you know, like send in what name you think it

should be, or blah blah blah. The reason why

it got taken down was because in this day and

age - One eye goes up, one eye goes down. Yeah.

Well, right. But see, that's the thing. The reason

why it got renamed and taken down and whatever

else was because of the fact that in this day

and age of V -chips and - Yeah. TV why seven

and everything else and oh my god, that's offensive

to soccer moms everywhere, right? Everyone thought

that that you know, the creators of the my little

pony cartoon show were be like, oh this pony's

retarded blah blah, you know, and that's really

not what it was It was a simple animation error

that fans took to and fans were the ones that

named it and then Hasbro was like, yeah, we can't

offend people. Sorry Right. And that makes sense.

That makes total sense. You know, so it's very

cool that this was a way that they could actually

make the figure and do a figure for it. And this

is really the only way that they could have done

it. So yeah, most definitely. Because this would

never fly in retail, whether it be online or

in actual stores. Bob, does your daughter have

any interest in Derpy? Um, no, not in derpy.

She's more like the main ponies Yeah, just like

the TV show she'll watch it. She's not like a

huge fan of it I mean we had a couple that we

got like McDonald's toys that she reviewed but

Yeah, I mean she's not really into it. She's

more monster high kind of girl Hi, oh, yeah,

she's yeah, she's cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs over

that Moving on, and I'm skipping one intentionally,

moving on to Star Wars, they're going to have

Lost Line packaging seven pack including Jar

Jar and Carbonite exclusive. Now, now you're

up my alley. I didn't want to bother Paul, you

know, because I knew you had so much going on,

but that Jar Jar and Carbonite figure is something

that I really need in my collection. Why? Why

does everybody hate Jar Jar so much? I don't

hate Jar Jar. I just think it's funny that they

put him in carbonite. And you know, Jar Jar,

I'm over it. You know, I'm over my hate for Jar

Jar. It's actually kind of funny to do the voice

for my kids and make them laugh. You know, do

the, Mesa gonna make dinner now, you know, the

whole thing. And I just think that's a, it just

looks like a cool figure. And I was like, oh,

that'd be awesome, but I'm not gonna pay $200

for seven figures. Yeah, is that how much it

is? Yeah. Well on eBay right now. It's like I

seen 200 and I seen like a hundred and fifty

five Yeah, so I just couldn't I couldn't see

paint cuz I only want the one figure I don't

want the regular seven because I probably already

have them not in that packaging But you know

how many jar door figures do you really need?

Yeah, it's like I really just wanted to In carbonite.

I wish they would just sell that by itself, but

yeah Yeah, I'd totally buy that one I just can't

see spending that $200 for seven figures. I'd

be surprised if at some point in time they don't

release that just by itself. Well, I'm hoping

that somebody... They probably will. I'm hoping

somebody will party it out on eBay where it's

just like that figure for 20 bucks or something,

you know? Oh, God. I doubt it'll be that cheap.

You'll never see it like that. The only way that

you can get it is to buy all those. So people,

I mean, it's like I just bought, I just bought

the, it's from X -Men, it's... The build a figure

holocaust figure. Oh, yeah That that thing all

the figures that it you know, the parts came

with were Walmart exclusives and there was like

seven figures or something I paid $90 just for

Holocaust because I Didn't want any of the other

ones. I don't need the other ones I just wanted

Holocaust and you know, like I said that that

figure just by itself was $90 so if somebody

is gonna be selling our jar just by himself,

you're going to be paying a pretty penny for

it no matter what. I would say Jar Jar by himself

would probably, depending on what kind of morals

the seller has, it would be anywhere from $50

to $150 for just Jar Jar. Probably. Because that's

something that ... They've never done before

and that as Paul said is a comic -con exclusive

even though it's even though it's in that seven

pack Yeah, you're not gonna see that go for less

than 50 bucks. I guarantee it And the last bit

from Hasbro, of course is our all three of our

mainstays with transformers you have the TF prime

zombie cliff jumper packaged in his zombie head

and the TF follow of Cybertron Bruticus with

g1 metallic Colors packaged in a book style box.

No, I just posted links for you guys I don't

know if you've ever seen that picture yet of

the zombie head the packaging stuff. Oh, yeah,

we've seen it I haven't seen it. I mean, this

is the first time I see I knew What kind of look

like but I didn't know the head was coming with

it like yeah package head, which is kind of cool

It comes with that head and then it comes with

that head that slides into a box Yeah, it also

comes with I mean the I mean the figure inside

of it has a head That's very much like the the

big giant package head No, is that the the first

edition one? It's the first edition. It's the

good one. It's the good one. It's the good one.

He's got a gash inside in the figure's chest

so that, you know, it comes with like a shard

of dark energon that you can stick inside of

it, which is just absolutely awesome. Isn't that

for 20 bucks or whatever it was going for? 30

or something? 25? Yeah, $24 .99. Almost had you

know was gonna have you pick me up one of those

two bit It just got too much for you guys, you

know for you. I was like, I don't really get

it that bad I could probably I could probably

do that for you. No, you don't have to know no,

I mean the the cliffjumpers I'm not too terribly

worried about. I mean, honestly, he's buying

a million of them anyway No, it's the biggest

thing that I'm concerned about are the the limits

that they put right, you know last year uh...

the that i mean but are not bob on mike you you

mentioned the uh... the star scream g i joe yeah

that was that was limited only one per person

so excuse me you could only buy one of them now

i mean if i had another person with me i could

have bought two of them you know but i'm up to

having to buy right now five brudicus for people

which i should be okay i should be okay Provide

I mean if there's only one per person, you know

We might have a problem because I might only

be able to actually get two because I knew that

Huh? I was gonna say they could do that, you

know, like you guys were just talking about scalpers

and stuff I mean, I wonder how many people are

going in there and just gonna well, that's why

that's why they set the limits, right? Yeah,

so I wonder if it's only gonna be like two per

person or something It's possible because that's

one of the more expensive ones You know, the

his tank might be limited, the helicarrier might

be limited. The helicarrier is definitely going

to be limited. Cliffjumper, I'm not too worried

about because it's a smaller figure. So that's

probably going to have maybe a five person limit.

So if I go there and my wife goes there, there's

ten right there that I can get. Yeah, you know

I have like I said three other people going so

I should be I could probably get you one if you

wanted one Bob Yeah, and I don't mind the fact

that Okay, I mind the fact that the first edition

line got canceled because it was so friggin stupid

to cancel such a great line where the only one

that was real hold on I know but shut up damn

it the only The only figure in that line. Shut

up, damn it. The only figure in that line that

was out of scale with the rest of the figures

in the line was RC. She was a little too tall.

Those figures in general in the first edition

line were amazing. That cliff jumper was amazing.

The first edition line got cancelled because

it was, oh, this is just a preview thing, or

whatever the hell the excuse was. I don't know.

I'm not focusing on that. And then we were like,

oh, well, what's happening to the TerraCon Cliffjumper?

Are they going to do that with RID, or are they

going to do that with this and the other thing?

And then it was announced that it was going to

be a San Diego Comic -Con exclusive. I did not

mind that because it makes sense that we would

still get the first edition mold with the zombie

stuff. I know a lot of people when the news came

out about the cliff jumper being the zombie cliff

being a exclusive, the red version, not the Smurf

version. Lot of people were like oh Really, they're

doing that but I mean it's priced fairly decently

at 25 bucks. It's a fair price I mean yeah, it's

it's a deluxe figure. You got you know a remolded

head You got a remolded chest you got the exclusive

packaging It's it's a fairly decently priced

figure now to correct you because if you're going

to spew rhetoric You might as well get it right

the figure the the first edition line was cancelled

because it was originally intended to bridge

the gap between the RID line that we're getting

right now and the movie line. The problem was,

retailers kept buying the movie stuff. They didn't

want to buy the first edition stuff. Well, retailers

are fucking dumb. Yeah, but don't blame Hasbro.

It's not Hasbro's fault. They had the figures.

They were there for people to buy them. It was

just supposed to be a limited edition thing from

the very beginning. They were just doing it just

for the hell of it. But retailers did not get

them. The only place that did get them was Toys

R Us and that was very limited. They didn't get

a lot of the stuff. So that got screwed up and

because a lot of the places only the only places

that really got them in terms of Toys R Us was

like in Canada. Yeah. So again, that's not I

wasn't directly blaming Hasbro about it. I was

going in a roundabout way to get to why it's

cool that it's an SDCC exclusive. But that being

said, Hasbro has said that they recognize that

people do want these figures, but they have to

have a way to be able to get them out. They can't

just give them to retailers. Retailers have to

want to buy them. Nobody wants to buy them. Alright,

let me ask you this then. Alright, you just said

Hasbro needs a way to get them back and tree

-tailors don't want to buy them. Hello, Hasbro

has their own fucking website. Hasbro Toy Shop

has nothing to do with online sales between actual

store exclusives. They cannot sell store exclusives

such as Toys R Us exclusive things because Toys

R Us was the only company that licensed the rights

to be able to sell first edition figures. They

can't, Hasbro Toy Shop can't go over them and

sell them on their own website when they're exclusive

figures. Anyhow... Toys R Us needs to get off

its balls and... Well that being said, that being

said... They said that they want to try to get

these out in some way, shape, or form. They were

able to do that with Comic -Con. There's a way

to do it with Comic -Con, and I'm glad that they're

actually able to do it. So we're going to get

one first edition figure for the next five years

of Comic -Con. Sure. I don't mind that. Nobody

said that. Nobody said that. We had to get them

again anyhow. I know. I know. All right. Moving

on to that. Worst business practices he anywhere

be named something. Yes, Matt. Hell They have

Batman the Dark Knight Rises Bruce Wayne to Batman

Masters the universe vicarious funny how you

said that you're like dope Batman Shut up. He's

a tiny Titans one and a half one in one half

scale five pack of figures DC Comics vertigo

death Ghostbusters Dana as Azul Pixar cars 2012

comic -con mater DC universe Polly pockets villains

set of three Catwoman poison ivy and Harley Quinn

three Hot Wheels sets one Masters the universe

Volkswagen drag bus Scooby -doo mystery machine

kids night industries 2000 night rider car and

a monster high scarra screams Didn't we already

rant on the Dana thing Bob many times Yeah, and

the more I see reviews of it the more it makes

me mad and I'm glad I'm not collecting it I'll

buy it just a bitch about it. I might actually

review it at San Diego Comic Con at The Mattel

panel and just they can scream and bitch about

it. This is not a fucking action figure Don't

kick you out. This is an action figure when it

just stands here and does nothing Why the fuck

doesn't it actually look like Dana Barry? Um

that would be awesome I don't all that that you

read the yes vertigo death and then the Kit would

be the only two that I would even be interested

Maybe the monster hide just for my daughter.

She'd probably go She'd probably have, you know,

whatever you want to call it, heart attack. For

me, because I liked the previous Comic Con versions.

I would, you know, if I was still collecting

toys, I would want the Cars Toons Mater, the

Comic Con Mater. I think that's kind of cool

that they do that kind of stuff. And yeah, I

do agree. The Hot Wheels Knight kit car. Master's

Classics, Vikron, seriously. Oh, it's dumb. Three

figures in one. No, it's not. You've got a bunch

of different body parts to clip on. Well, what

it is essentially is, and I don't know. I know

Bob hasn't, because Bob doesn't care. But I don't

know, Paul, if you've seen Pixel Dan's review

of it. I have. I have. It's essentially one figure

with three different outfits. Yeah, interchangeable

parts. So essentially, they made a Masters in

the Universe Barbie doll. Essentially is what

they did Yeah, that's that's the best way to

Describe it. It's a master's Barbie doll. Yes.

I mean it's it's stupid. I Mean at least the

previous years, you know, I mean last year it

was Queen Marlena, which was cool I mean it had

a you know exclusive kind of packaging and stuff

I mean it was the same exact figure that you

got later on just packaged different, you know,

and then The year before that was, that was Orko,

wasn't it? Yeah, Orko with Prince Adam. Yeah,

with Prince Adam. And that Orko was actually

a color -changing invisible plunge. Yeah, action

feature thing. Which was kind of stupid because

I honestly don't remember Orko just being invisible.

No, he wasn't. He just color -changed. Yeah,

it was dumb. But, you know, of those, the only

one that I'm really all that interested in is

the Batman. Dark Knight, Bruce Wayne. I mean,

I like Batman. That's no secret, you know, but

it comes with the Bruce Wayne figure. I'm more

interested kind of in the packaging for it because

it's done up to look like Wayne Manor and then

you open it up and it's the Batcave. And then

you push in panels on the cardboard and it beeps,

or it doesn't beep, but it looks like a piano.

And you push and it's like... You know, like

somebody's pushing the keys on a piano and it

opens up to the bat cave. How's that sound go

again? I'm not doing that again. Oh, cool. Who's

sliding down the proverbial bat fall now? Yeah.

Bat suit. And you know, you have the bat suit

in, it's a Bruce Wayne body, and then they have

a rubberized bat suit that you can put over it,

but... It's a terrible -looking figure. I mean

it's big. It's bulky doesn't look like that I

mean it looks like Batman, but it looks like

Looks like a wetsuit Batman. It looks yeah. I

mean it looks really kind of dumb going deep

-sea diving or something Yeah, it's it's really

you know thick the possibility sucks because

it's there's no like no ratchet joints So if

you put his arm up it automatically comes back

down because the rubber just pulls it down So

it really is only just a matter of a cool package

You know and having the bat suit kind of in in

the the vault that kind of appeals to me. That's

Really it but my guess is through the movie master

line anyhow. We're gonna get a bruce wayne figure

anyhow Just oh, yeah, just to complete because

we're supposed to get a total of six figures

Um from the from the from the movie masters to

complete the collect and connect bat signal So

far we've gotten Batman, we've gotten Bane, we've

gotten Alfred, and I know there's Catwoman. There

are two other figures that I do not know about.

Now there's a Walmart exclusive Commissioner

Gordon that comes with an alternate piece to

the Bat Signal at the end of... What the hell

was the second movie? Dark Knight. Yeah, thank

you. At the end of Dark Knight, you know, there's

a scene where Commissioner Gordon breaks, hacks

the bat signal. It comes with a busted glass

front piece for it, you know, so you can kind

of use that. But there's two other figures that

we don't really know exactly what they're going

to be. And as far as I mean, I don't know if

they've been released or announced. I have no

idea. But my guess is it's possible that we're

going to get Yeah, I got something on my wedding

ring. Um Possibly a bruce wayne out of all that.

Yeah, be my guess especially if they already

have the mold for the figure and They're using

it for something My guess is they're just gonna

take his head and put it on an elford body and

oh, there you go bruce wayne. Yeah so moving

on over to one of Paul's favorite toy company

is NECA Toys. They will have six exclusives,

one of those being Predator's Cloaked City Hunter.

Yeah, that's the one that I'm excited most about.

The rest of the stuff from NECA outside of Gears

of War and Assassin's Creed I know nothing about.

Okay, well Black and White Freddy Krueger, yeah

I know that. Which is kind of cool, but I mean

I'm not really collecting those or anything I've

bought them, but I'm not a big fan of them to

be honest The the predator though I'm I got a

lot of the predators I like the predator figures

the cloak look is very cool I'm gonna do a review

of it again And I'll probably get bitched at

because people aren't gonna be able to see the

figure because I am going to use my magic white

background and Not see the figure be like it's

cloaked. I should actually not have the actual

figure there I should just move my hands as if

I'm holding something and tell people to look

really, really close. That would be really cool

to actually do. That's funny. I might do that.

pony wedding tiara uh... and they will also have

the muddy morphin power rangers the complete

series dvd box that this is the nineteen disc

set uh... which covers all three seasons of my

power rangers i might actually but how much is

that uh... i'd have to look it up i don't know

i don't know it's free i might i might actually

buy that just because when i was a kid with when

my sister and i would be getting ready to go

to school. Our school, we walked to school and

it started at 8 .05 every morning. And we had

to leave by 8 .15 every day. Oh wait, no. Wait,

what time did we leave? I don't know. No, we

left at 7 .45. We left at 7 .45 every day to

get there by 8 o 'clock. I'm sorry. I'm retarded.

So it's 7 .45, but the show came on at 7 .30.

So we always watched the first half of the show,

and that was it. I never saw how any of them

ended. Well, they're all on Netflix. For me,

if I'm going to get the Shout Factory Mighty

Morphin stuff, yes, that's great to have the

episodes on DVD. But I really want that set,

because there's going to be one set at Comic

-Con, but there's a complete overall 40 -disc

set that Time Life will have for distribution.

this set here the mighty morphine years and then

there's another set uh... from i think it's from

power rangers turbo to lost galaxy and i really

want these dvd sets for the special features

that i know that brian ward has has put into

them he he does amazing amazing work for shout

factory with bonus features all good stuff uh...

sideshow collect what i mean remove your mouth

from their ass what the hell are you talking

about i'm just teasing you Shut the fuck up Sideshow

collectibles We'll have a few Things there they'll

have GI Joe lieutenant Falcon Star Wars good

birth band tech more doc. I don't know Whatever.

What is that Bob? I have no idea I bet my wife

knows they're the they're the they're the aliens

in the band Oh, yeah. In the cantina? Yeah, yeah.

Yeah, okay, okay. The bald -headed guys. Yes,

yes. The ones that look like aliens. Yeah, the

ones playing the flutes and stuff. Right. Oh,

okay, okay, okay. Hot Toys will have the rescue

Captain America. And then Star Wars Commander

Fox. Yay. Yay. I just... Right below that...

The Batman Arkham. Yeah, the black and white

guys. Yeah. Yeah for Square Enix Those are great

the asylum play arts Kai Batman and Kai Joker

the fingers themselves I mean the actual regular

colored versions look fantastic They're just

I mean, they're they're they're really big. They're

like nine inches tall or something and just I

don't know it just I'm happy with my DC direct

figures of them so They don't impress me that

much to want to get them I think But the cool

thing about it is I actually saw a review of

them. The cape is actually articulated in the

back Yeah, you can actually pose the cape in

different positions Just really kind of cool

yet some Yeah Something or other something Other

than that, Toys R Us will have several different

things available from different companies. They'll

have something from Adventure Time and Regular

Show. They will have the turtle figures that

Paul has. No, no, no, no, no. These are different.

These are the ten and a half inch tall turtles.

They actually have like metal in his thumb chucks

it looks like or something. No, these are the

classic ones. They are not not the classic. These

are the show ones. No, he said my flat No, Michelangelo

looks like he has metal chains or they could

be plastic chains, but they're silver Yeah, okay

the pictures that it's linking to on the on the

on the list. They started the show It is is the

show but they have I had a half They're the ten

and a half versions of the new show turtles Oh,

okay. I wish their eyes would be white though.

They're not white? No, they have, at least these

pictures show that they have pupils. They have

pupils. Well, the actual cartoon, they have pupils

in it, but the smaller toys, you know, like I've

been reviewing recently, they all don't have

the pupils, you know, much like the original

vintage toys, which I like. I like that they're

kind of doing that. Which is really kind of cool.

But, you know, they're $30 a piece. or you could

get the set of four for $100. I'm not that interested

in having 10 .5 -inch Ninja Turtles. I like Ninja

Turtles. I love Ninja Turtles. I am one of the

foremost experts on YouTube for Ninja Turtles,

and I would not be buying these because I think

they're retarded. They also are gonna have a

cloaked classic predator Yeah, that's the same.

That's the same one That's gonna be at neck up,

but the cloak classic predator will be sold see

all these things that are available at the entertainment

Earth booth our Toys R Us exclusives the all

of these figures will be eventually available

at Toys R Us They're just available at SDCC for

the first time the entertainment Earth booth

That's how that works so all these all these

Ninja Turtles the cloaked classic predator You

got the club princess bloom doll halo for master

chief my little pony Black my little pony So

that one's really kind of derpy looking, but

it's not derpy And then the one I'm really excited

about is the Marvel Universe X Factor box set

which I'm actually kind of annoyed that they

call it the X Factor box set Excuse me, because

they're all X -Men. Kind of annoys me. It's a

five -pack that comes with Mr. Sinister, Apocalypse,

Angel, Cyclops, Marvel Girl, who is Jean Grey,

and a really cool -looking, I don't want to say

variant, but a different -looking Iceman. And

I'm thrilled about that set. Totally fine. Ice

man have like a WWE wrestling belt on it really

kind of looks like it I don't know what the hell

it is to be looks like he has a championship

belt on it really kind of does now there were

some comics that I remember reading when I was

a kid that He actually had to because his mutant

powers got out of control He had to wear a device

that would kind of control them much like Cyclops

has to wear that visor Yeah, I don't know if

that's what his little WWF belt is But it really

kind of looks like it. I'm a big Marvel Universe

fan. I have every single X -Men figure from that.

And that's definitely a set that I'm going to

pick up. Awesome. So we will have to wait and

see in the next episode of Toycast when Paul

comes back as far as what all he did in the two

days he was at SDCCC. how sore my feet will be

from standing. Actually, I'm being smart about

it. I'm taking one of those folding lounge chairs.

One of those geriatric walkers that you can sit

on. Well, no, not one of those. But that's not

a bad idea. With all the shit that I'm going

to have to carry, that's not a bad idea. Just

go get a hover around. You'll be all right. That

would be awesome. I was just going to say that.

I'm bringing one of those, it's kind of like

a beach chair where you fold it out, it's got

a seat, it's got a back, it's got armrests, and

you can fold it up into kind of like a tube shape

sort of thing and then put it in a little bag.

I took that to BotCon, that's what I sat there

and waited in line with that. Because we're actually

getting there, going back to the whole plan.

My wife and I are checking into our hotel on

the 11th. We're gonna be sleeping. I'm gonna

be sleep. I'm gonna go to bed like at like six

that that night and I'm gonna get up at roughly

about midnight and We're me Mikey all my buddies.

We're meeting there in line at about one o 'clock

in the morning To get in line for this stuff

So we will be there and when I'm saying I'm gonna

be in lines for a long time I am going to be

in lines for a long time because they don't open

the doors, and these aren't lines to buy any

toys, guys. This is, I'm getting in a line so

that I can get my pass for San Diego Comic Con.

Yeah, this is just getting the passes. But the

closer that you are to that, as soon as you get

your pass, then you can run and get in the line

for the toys. And the pass line, or to get your

pass, that doesn't open up until 8 .30 in the

morning of... July 12th, so for seven and a half

hours, I'm just gonna be sitting there in line

in a chair talking to my buddies, hanging out,

and shooting the shit with whoever else comes

around and maybe, maybe recognizes me. Alright,

so we will find out what happens on Octobotomus'

SDCC adventure in the next episode of Toycast.

Thank you for joining us here. Paul, what is

your YouTube channel? My YouTube channel is youtube

to mention I'm sorry, when is this podcast gonna

be up? Monday this Monday. Okay. Well if anybody

tunes in On July 13th, Friday the 13th, I'm doing

a live from San Diego Comic Con Ustream. Links

will be posted in various places, but I do plan

on talking about some of the stuff that I got

there. Obviously, I'll probably be drunk and

having a good time. We'll be doing it from my

hotel room. Hopefully, it didn't spend $200 again,

or whatever it was, or $2 ,000 at the bar. That

probably won't happen because, like I said, my

wife is coming with me this time. She'll put

a stop to it. All right, so we will see what

the hell happens with Octobotamus next episode

of Toycast. For now, I am TFG and Mike with Bob

Gilmer and the motherfucking Octobotamus, and

we will catch you next episode. Hey, I'm Gary.
