About this Episode

Optibotimus and TFG1Mike return to Eternia for a second Masters of the Universe Classics discussion, this time broadcasting live on Ustream. They examine two figures in detail: Whiplash, with his signature tail and alternate 2002 head, and Orko, the show-accurate figure that includes a fully articulated He-Man/Adam as an accessory. The hosts dive into the appeal of the Classics line as updated versions of childhood toys, touch on the Hub network's upcoming launch and Transformers Prime, and discuss Frank Welker's voice acting legacy.

You're listening to the Geekcast Radio Network

of podcasts. And up to bottomers. No, this is

um Skeletor sword is purple Skeletor sword is

purple, but this one is is It's not the same.

It's not a dark purple as Skeletor's is Yeah,

it's pretty messed up. I think you just repainted

it to look like Skeletor's Skeletor's up there

if I can grab on my wood all right, but let's

Toycast Toycast oh actually you know what I wanted

to do on doing the Toycast I gotta get Aw, shite.

I had everything loaded up in my pinnacle. Or

my, um... Um, um, uh... Review. Son of a monkey.

Alright, I'll do that later. Son of a monkey.

Son of a monkey. Truck is monkey. Monkey truck.

Alright, okay, so here we go. Let's do this.

Alright. Five seconds of silence. Hello and welcome

to the 74th episode of Toycast. I am your host

TFJ and Mike and joining me is Optobotamus. Hello,

sir. How are you? Pretty good, how are you? How

are you? Who is your daddy and what does he do?

How are you? Sorry. You shouldn't be doing an

Arnold voice when you have whiplash in your hand.

Oh, that's alright. So what have you been up

to sir since the last time that we recorded seeing

is how it was only been a couple of days for

us but it'll be a couple of weeks for the listeners

once they get to listen to this. It was just

yesterday. I know but I like having a backlog.

Since yesterday I have Not done much of anything.

I had sushi for dinner tonight, which I love

sushi. Oh my god. I got a wonderful fantastic

new Voyager class Transformer that I absolutely

love. Love him. Like it's my baby. I love him.

Like I'm a baby. Other than that, I don't think

I've done anything. Pretty lazy. Aren't we all

aren't we all? Alright, so we're actually I'm

assuming the you stream people can hear is we're

actually Broadcasting live on your you stream

channel This episode and the people in the chat

room Decided that we should talk about the hub

What the hell? What are you putting your iPhone

up to the camera? Oh, I don't know. This is not

FaceTime Sorry. That's for sure. I'm checking

my... It's really bad, okay? I get yelled at

this from my girlfriend all the time because

with me being a YouTube partner, I constantly

check how much money I'm making on my videos.

It's an obsession. It really is. It's not healthy.

It doesn't matter how much I make. I just like

seeing it and knowing that something's happening.

And for some reason, I constantly have to check

it, and I'm showing people on my Ustream, I have

an app for it. I'm not going to click on it because

I don't want your people's business to know how

much money I make. But I have an app on my iPhone

that allows me to check it whenever I want to.

And I'll be sitting there at dinner and I'm like,

oh, let's see what we have. And I check it. It's

pretty ridiculous. Speaking of iPhones and Apples,

and granted, this is not. an apple podcast but

did you see the um... the event i didn't see

it but um... i don't know if you use itunes at

all as far as stuff pencil head unfortunately

you know the podcast people they're not going

to be able to hear this but i have um... i have

A Master of the Universe classic head on a pen

and I'm spinning it on a... That's funny as hell.

Terrible, I'm sorry. If you use iTunes, you can

go to the iTunes store and subscribe to Apple

Keynotes, it's free, and it's all the events

that they've ever done. Put the damn pencil down!

Sorry, sorry. Focus, focus. I've had to say this

twice already, but if you go into iTunes, go

to the iTunes store. Don't wave your hand at

me, boy. You go to Apple Keynotes, and it's all

their keynote stuff. And yeah, I'm not too thrilled

with the event. I've looked up, you know, I mean,

Apple being, I don't really consider myself an

Apple fanboy. I like their products, but I don't

have to buy every single Apple, like some other

people. If you know I was looking at it and yeah,

the caffeine is making me hyper because I've

had I'm answering a question in the in the you

stream and I've already drank two Pepsi maxes

here in the past two hours or something crazy,

but the I was looking at it, and like I said,

typically in September is when Apple will come

out with new stuff. It's their music event, it's

their iPod event. Exactly. They stick some of

their iPhone stuff in there. There's a new iPod

Touch. The iPod Touch to me has always been nothing

more than a iPhone without the phone. And now

the new version of it is the exact same. It's

an iPhone, but without the phone. It's got the

front -facing camera. I like that because for

me, honestly, I don't want to have to go to AT

&T. And then, of course, there was that news

that came out a couple weeks ago that's supposedly

in January. You're supposed to go to Verizon,

yeah. And we're not going to spend too much typically

on this, because again, this is Toycast. But

technically, those are toys. They're gadgets.

They're just not actual action figures. But I

hate the iPod Nano that they've come out with.

This new one, the square one. Oh, that's the

new shuffle. Isn't that the shuffle? No. This

shuffle and the nano are now square again. The

shuffle is square with the buttons back on it.

The nano is a square slightly larger, but it

has a mini touch screen on it. Oh, that's weird.

I'll see if I can find you a picture really quick.

I don't care. I know you don't care, but I'm

already doing it, so you're just going to have

to deal with it. so yeah i guess the discussion

topic that we're going to do is uh... the hub

network and i brought up uh... behind the voice

actors dot com i brought up their little uh...

news sneak peek at ten hub network shows thing

honestly i don't have the money for digital cable

i really have the money for basic classic cable

uh... not including the internet service that

i have with with the cable company so The only

show, and I have a majority of these on DVD,

like granted GI Joe renegades as a new show,

but like all their older stuff, like Transformers

G1 and Beast Wars and all that stuff, I've got

the DVDs, so I have no real reason to get digital

cable for just one channel. And I'm sure I can

find Transformers Prime in some other medium

at some point. Well, yeah, it'll probably show

up on here, but my question for you is, do you

have basic cable? Basic classic. I have channels

2 through 99. Okay, did you get the Discovery

channel? I have regular Discovery, yeah, but

the hub is gonna be a separate channel. No, no,

no, no, no. Well, did you have Discovery Kids?

No, that's on digital. Oh, okay. See, I mean...

Wasn't sure I have I have discovery kids what

what what it's basically doing is discovery kids

is merging with Hasbro and they're creating the

hub network and You know looking I mean, you

know looking at the the list of shows, you know,

it shows on animal animal mechanicals I don't

know what that is the adventures of Chuck and

friends. No idea what that is. They'll pour a

quest no idea Dennis and masher don't know what

that is G .I. Joe Renegades is a new show. My

Little Pony's Friendship and Magic. I don't know

if that's the original My Little Pony's. No,

that's a reboot. That's a new one, okay. Pow

and Pop Beast, I don't know if that's the original

or if that's a reboot. It could be both. It could

be. Transformers Prime, the Twisted Whiskers

show, and the Wot Wots. What? What? What? What?

Sounds like our truth should be on that show

That's stupid, but you know the other thing that

they're going to be doing is they're going to

be replaying Beast Wars they're going to be replaying

everything from Transformers and I think they're

actually replaying like a lot of the old G .I.

Joe cartoons as well, so yeah It's it's fairly

interesting. I'm curious to see it, but the big

selling point I'm getting another I'm getting

a text message from Yappa. He just said that

he left. He left the thing. How dare he? Terrible.

He left my U string, my friend. How dare he?

I mean, the biggest draw with the hub network

right now is going to be Transformers Prime.

Yeah. That's going to be the biggest draw, I

think. Yeah, and I absolutely... love what Welker

is doing with the voice for Megatron because

it's... I mean, he's older and it sounds different,

but every now and then you can hear, you know,

the G1 Megatron. Right, right. He said in the

little BotCon video they showed this year that

whereas G1 Megatron is kind of like way up here

like this and talking really loud. Right. One

that he's doing for Prime is like way down here,

like this, and it's more menacing type of stuff.

And no, I do not do a good rendition of any version

of Megatron, but I'm just, you know, showing

you a little bit of difference as far as voice

range goes. And I actually love what he's doing

with... I really think he's getting a lot of

influence from what... Oh, and I can't remember

his name. David Kay? No, no, no. The guy who

did Megatron in the Revenge of the Fallen movies.

Oh, Hugo Weaving. Yeah, Hugo. I really think

he's getting a little influence from the Hugo

darkness. I think it sounds really good. I completely

agree with you. I think it sounds really good.

And a lot of people are excited with the fact

that... Frank Walker's coming back with it and

Peter Collins coming back and he's doing the

Optimus Prime and it's as far as I know and I'm

almost 100 % like 99 .9999 % that this is the

first time since G1 that Frank Walker and Peter

Cullen have come back to do a Transformers TV

series. Yes, you are correct. They did do I believe

I'm trying to think if they They did the game,

they did the first Transformers game. I don't

think they did Revenge of the Fallen Team. Right,

yeah, they did the game. But that's just the

game. You know, it's the series. That I'm really,

really excited to hear those two. I mean, and

I've seen so many interviews between them and

they genuinely like each other and they go back

and forth and it's just, I would love to be a

little fly on the wall. when those two are in

the recording booth together. I'm sure there's

so much stuff that comes out of their mouths

that doesn't make it into the shows or anything

that would just sit there and be amazed by them

going back and forth. Oh yeah, well the thing

with Welker is, if we ever, I mean... For those

of you who are in the Ustream chat and don't

know a lot about GeekCast Radio Network, we've

interviewed several different voice actors. We've

interviewed a couple of different writers. We

interviewed David Wise and Kristy Marks, but

we've interviewed several different voice actors.

If we ever got an interview with Frank Walker,

my head would explode, literally. My head would

explode off my shoulders because I wouldn't know

where to start with him because he's done so

much. almost if I can tell you right now almost

Every from the 80s to the mid 90s almost every

cartoon series has either Frank Welker or Peter

Cullen doing a voice. Yep Plain and simple there.

I mean even even before then because there have

been other cartoons like in the 60s and 70s Oh,

yeah going even back further, but yeah, if I'm

if I'm not mistaken And I'm rarely mistaken,

but I'm almost positive that Frank Walker does

the voice for Nibbler on Futurama. I'm not sure.

I'd have to look it up. I'm looking it up. Give

me a look, Frank Walker. While he's looking it

up, I'm going to try to get this little thing

to... I mentioned earlier off air in the Ustream

chat that I had a little Megatron clip, and I'm

going to try to see if I can get it to play.

I love you. Shut up, bitch. I'm not done. Wow.

Did that come out okay? I heard something. Okay,

it didn't come out okay then. Anyway, moving

on. I'll probably have Steve do an edit point

here. And I hate this new iTunes logo. I haven't

downloaded the new iTunes yet. I like the new

iTunes itself. I just hate the new logo. Jesus,

Frank Welker has done everything. You name it,

he's done it. He was the voice of Mohawk from

Gremlins 2. Oh yeah. You know that? I mean that's

amazing. No! So, anyway, here's, uh, hopefully,

again, hopefully this is gonna come through,

okay? Let me adjust that. Okay. Adjust away.

the part of the show that gets edited out. Yeah,

I'll just have Steve put it in the thing anyways.

But yeah, the Hobbit, I don't know, it's one

of those things where... It's right there, there

it is. Wait, what? Frank Walker does the voice

for Nibbler, both talking and non -talking versions

of Nibbler in Futurama. Oh, cool. Yeah, so I

mean, it's amazing! You're actually being psychotic.

Yeah. So yeah, but the hub, it just isn't worth

me going into debt over digital cable. Yeah.

I mean, I don't blame you. I mean, it's one of

those things where if you don't have it, you'll

be able to see it on something else. One thing

that I'm kind of sure of is that Transformers

Animated didn't do too well in terms of viewership,

from what I understand, being on the Cartoon

Network. And that led to a lot of the reason

why it was cancelled. It was too expensive for

them to keep around. It wasn't bringing that

much in. I'm really kind of disappointed in that

because if... If they had waited for Transformers

Animated, they could have brought it onto the

new hub network and seen how it would be co -owned

by Hasbro, they could probably have it go on

for a lot longer. I don't know how all the rights

go with that, but I don't think that they could

have because I think CN had parts of rights to

it because it was developed at CN. Was it really?

Yeah, well screw it. So yeah the hub No, no more

state watch the new shows you be able to watch

the new show You'll be able to you'll be able

to download them on the internet or something

like that So it wouldn't be you're not going

to be missing much and even with the new Joe

thing you're If you're in the GI Joe, you'll

be able to and if I Hopefully, I'll be able to

make it through the first episode of Transformers

Prime. If I can't make it through the first episode,

I can pretty much guarantee I won't watch that

show at all. First episode has to be the best.

Well, it's not really like that. They have to

pull it in, and it's not just kids anymore. That's

what people don't get a lot of the times is because

a lot of us are older, you know, 30s, mid -30s,

early 30s, whatever. Don't look at me like that.

You know, there's a larger fan base here and

you can't just make a Transformers cartoon just

for kids, so they have to pull you in. If they

can't pull you in in the first episode, hell,

if not the first 15 minutes, they're screwed.

And regardless of what Michael Bay did with both

the Transformers movies as far as writing them,

I'm sorry. Ors - Orsia and Kurtzman can't write

Transformers fiction for crap. I would much rather

have some weird fangirl writing Transformers

Prime than have the two of them on it. They did

a fine job. No, they didn't. They - They used

- What - What is so bad about it? Come on, I

want - I want - I want specific - It's just -

It's just not - I don't want to turn into what

I know I'm going to be deemed. I'm going to be

deemed one of those G1ers. And I was going to

say, don't shake your head at me. You know, in

the grand scheme of things, I've been a Transformers

fan longer than you, sir, just saying. Two years

older, so. Exactly, exactly. So I was six watching

Transformers, and you were four. So I was understated.

I was understanding it a little bit better than

you. But, you know, in the grand scheme of things,

I like G1, but in terms of storytelling, G1 sucked.

The stories were horrible. Overall, maybe, but

there are a couple of them that are fairly well

done. Yeah, but there's no continuity with the

stories. Beast was the best. storytelling engine

of any transformer series very very closely followed

by animated in my opinion and i'm not going to

disagree about the beast saga i'm really not

beast wars and beast machines both yeah no we're

not we're not yes it got retarded because it

went way too um uh religious you know i mean

i mean you can watch that and it's it's it's

a parallel for christianity and stupid stuff

i didn't like it anyhow uh but The G1 story was

terrible. So when people sit there, they're like,

you know, Transformers, because it's not like

G1. So G1 wasn't all that great. So what are

you saying? I'm just saying that with all this

other Transformers fiction, G1 aside, all this

other Transformers fiction we've had in the past...

And all these are the great writers who can write

actual decent stories like David Wise, like Flint

Dilley, like, you know, whoever, Larry DiTillio,

whatever, Bob Forward, Bob Scare. What was so

bad about the stories in the movie? I don't know.

It's just the little things that... The real

problem is Bay, because everything has to go

through him, so I don't feel that whatever that

they... Kurtzman and Orsi whatever they really

wanted to write I don't feel it came through

because of fucking Michael Bay and it's his movie

and he'll do whatever the hell he wants to do

I think what should have happened is they should

have got a different director or hell had Spielberg

directed and put Michael Bay on GI Joe because

Michael Bay is all about the military and everything

else I think GI Joe movie would have suited him

a little bit better one thing that I thought

when it came to the movies You watch any Transformers

series and they are primarily in robot mode.

They use vehicle modes very scarcely. It happens,

but it's very scarce. That was completely reversed

in the movies, in the live action movies. They

were always in their vehicle modes and there

was very rarely in their robot modes. That was

one thing that kind of bugged me that I didn't

particularly like. Now... Everyone says, oh,

there's too many humans. You know, you gotta

have, in terms of a storytelling, I mean, this

is not something that is just being designed

to appeal to fans or kids or anything like this.

This has to appeal to the masses. And the only

way that you do that with a movie is by having

a human element in there that you as a viewer

can connect with. You're not gonna be able to

connect with a big giant freaking robot. That

just doesn't happen. That's not natural. That's

why there's always a human element that you can

bring into it. So, everybody complained about

that. Now, I'll tell you, Revenge of the Fauna

wasn't that fantastic of a movie. It was okay,

but I think it suffered big time from the writer

strike that happened in it, and everything getting

kind of rushed together, and even, you know,

Shia LaBeouf and, you know, what's his face.

Michael Bay's come out and said that, you know,

that whole thing suffered or suffered because

of it. I believe it. But the first movie, I thought

the first movie was fantastic. The story I thought

was good. It was okay. Give me things about it

that were bad. It was okay. Give me something

specifically that were bad. I'm putting you on

the spot, boy. I just can't see Mr. Smith as

the voice of Megatron. Mr. Smith leaving Even

know I didn't even for example I didn't even

know that Hugo weaving was the was the voice

of Megatron in the first one he barely talked

Let's see what else didn't I like about it I

didn't like little nitpicky type of stuff like

It's not spark plug and spike You know that That

kinda... Those are cartoon names! Those are cartoon

names! I know, but still, it doesn't matter!

Have you ever met anyone in your life named Sparkplug

or Spike? Um... I've met a few dogs named Spike.

Okay, well, that works. Alright, so next, because

that's another point that's retarded. Oh yeah!

Mojo, stop dominating Frankie! That was funny.

Look at what it says. It was funny. Oh, I tell

you what really took me out of the second movie.

I thought it was great. There are three things

that took me out of the second movie. The mom,

the stupid fucking friggin brownies. That was

funny too. The giant Devastator balls. and i'm

sorry and i do not need to see john totoro's

ass in big screen there's so much stuff that

was just all right comical and funny that are

you disappointed? so anyway the hub it premieres

next month october 10th 2010 10 10 10 you know

that's actually unfortunately that's a sign of

the apocalypse you know Oh boy. There's a lot

of stuff that's a sign of the apocalypse. Hey,

at least it's not 12 -12 -12. I'm getting married

on 11 -11 -11. That's strange. It's a good thing

there is no 13th month. 13 -13 -13. Ah, that's

true. But it's done that way, we agreed to the

wedding on that because I have a tendency of

not remembering things very well. It would help

me to remember when our anniversary is. I know

you're not very good at remembering stuff seeing

as how I have to constantly remind you to un

-privatize certain videos. I told you I'll start

doing that as soon as I start uploading the reviews

for them. I already have the whiplash and the

Prince Adam video. I already have those recorded.

I'm putting them off until closer to the new

year. Wait, what? What? You're putting off the

video closer to the new year? Yeah. Why? That's

when the new subscription comes out. You're not

gonna release the Adam and Orko video? No, why

should I? You better just be messing with me.

Well yeah, duh. I don't really want to see Whiplash's

head on a sword. Maybe maybe I'll just upload

it and I keep a private All right, so I guess

getting into the discussion or not the discussion

but the actual display case segment here So which

masters figure are you going to be talking about

sir? talking about and if you if you are well

you're not watching me on your stream you're

just listening I'm not showing the figure on

this in my little camera I am talking about Masters

of the Universe classic whiplash now this is

a character who was in the vintage line as well

as the new 2002 line but Really, it was the vintage,

you know, the old 80s one that I really liked.

He's a phenomenal figure. One thing that I, and

I've even said this, it really kind of bugged

me. He had this really cool feature in the original

toy where if you twisted his waist, his waist

was on like this kind of spring, and if you twisted

his waist, it would snap. He had this big tail

on the back that was very, very... Flexible rubber

and you could swim you know you would take the

figure you would rotate it around to the side

on his waist and then And then you would let

go and then the tail would whip around thus getting

the name whiplash They've always said that they

are not going to be putting any action features

in their figures But I really think you know

I mean the the tail on this guy is a very hard

rubber I really wish they would have made that

made it that soft rubber that they used very

similar to the vintage line then you don't have

to put the spring in the waist but the soft rubber

tail would have been a whole lot better now it

is articulated but at only one point halfway

up right by his ass and you know you can you

know twist it from left to right you know and

there's some whipping action for you but I mean

that's kind of stupid he also comes with a alternate

head which I'm going to now pop on and show into

the camera Mm -hmm. And here you have him looking

like his 2000X or 2002 version. The biggest problem

that I have with this is that his head isn't

proportionate to his body. Yeah, that's not...

His head is very big and his body, you know,

these are seven inch figures, so they're pretty

good. But his head is too big for his body. If

they shrunk it down a little bit, it would look

a little bit better. and I would probably like

it a little bit more but he's just kind of got

this I mean it's kind of got this gumpy look

and and uh just to kind of show you Mike and

anybody else watching here's a side -by -side

comparison of the head that uh you guys can see

and I mean this one is just a much better looking

face the the vintage one is just a much better

looking face and this one and and somebody in

my thing has mentioned it that it is not painted

as much I mean it's you can see that this guy

here has a lot more you know I don't know if

you can really see that you know there's some

good variation in his face paint as opposed to

this one which is you know it doesn't blend very

well and then you look on the back and it's just

It's just you know the vintage one just the paint

the paint flows better with the rest of the body.

Yeah, and I just really like the way it looks

and he comes with some really cool accessories

He comes with this really big. I mean it's as

big as he is I mean, that's a big step into the

Spear Spear Spear Spear and then this he comes

with this huge Which I can only compare to as

a some kind of a bulk or not a bulk in a Klingon

weapon from Star Trek Is that from the 02 line?

This this is this is from the 02 line. Yeah.

Okay. Yeah, this is what he it's just really

cool looking and it looks like a baffled from

Star Trek or something it's just really cool

and I Mean it's kind of I mean you have his hand

which his one hand is much bigger than the other

one. It won't fit in his right hand at all. I

mean, you can kind of, I'm showing you, but it

won't fit at all. It's got to go in one hand.

But conversely, his staff also will not go in

his other hand. Each hand is designed specifically

for a specific weapon, which, you know, kind

of sucks, but it's an overall terrific looking

figure that, I mean, if you are a fan, I mean,

that just looks wicked. He just looks wicked.

That's really all I can think of. Yeah, he does.

And the really cool thing is his whole body is

a new mold. Everything on here is newly molded,

with the exception of maybe his hands. That's

the only thing I can think of. And they're going

to be using this mold a couple other times, more

specifically from what I understand for Buzz

Off. Is one of his hands bigger than the other?

What that is one of his hands bigger than the

other It's not bigger, it's just opened up wider,

okay and of our I Mean, let me I'm gonna kind

of show you I mean, it's just opened up wider

This one here is opened up wider than this one

and this this one is this this hand is more of

a open palm You know like that words. This one

is more of a closed That's really the only difference,

but it looks the same in terms of the size. Oh,

okay. But I mean, it's a fantastic figure that's

gonna get reused for some other really cool characters.

Would they reuse it as clawful? They probably

could. They probably would, too. They would just

have to take the hands off and put a new, you

know, the claw hand on it. but that could be

used, they were talking about reusing it for

the snake men because actually if you take this

body armor here, actually can come off, I can't

take it off on mine, but if you un -glue it or

something, I don't know, maybe it is glued on

there because the back tail actually removes.

And I'm trying to see, there's no real point

that you can, it's probably glued on there and

if you remove that, the whole body, is scale

you like you can not on his neck it's all scale

like that so everybody saying all my god it's

the perfect body most of the statement and you

know so that's we're probably gonna get back

to you i'm actually surprised i mean i know that

they showed off i think it was as it was either

sdcc or one of those other conventions this year

they showed off uh... cobra khan or not not not

not not cobra khan uh... king hissing and i'm

surprised that they haven't Put out any kind

of images for Cobra Khan yet because Cobra. Yeah

Cobra. Yeah Ghostbusters. Uh -huh I'm wearing

a ghostbusters. Yeah Stop stop staying puff and

but you know that they didn't have to hear is

so far off in the end i i i know but what i'm

saying is is that i think i'm wondering why that

they haven't done a cobra khan yet is so far

we've gotten beastman more merman trapped you

know uh... while cobra khan wasn't really you

know we've got a webster kobra khan in the oh

two series wasn't really like a part of skeletor's

crew like full -time but the eighty series i

remember him being a part of the crew a lot.

I remember him and Web Store showing up in Secret

of the Sword. Cobra Khan? Well, in the 2000 series,

they took the snake man and King Hiss was kind

of banished, and Cobra Khan kind of aligned himself

with Evil Lin to get in and be sneaky. get in

their little their trust so that they because

the Snake Mountain was where King Hiss was Imprisoned

or something like that. So he's trying to get

in there and he was trying to basically he was

you know aligning himself with Skeletor and his

people Just so he can try to bring King Hiss

back, right? So yeah there at the end of that

story So do you have any other things you want

to say about whiplash? It's a fantastic figure.

It's very unfortunate that it sold out, but it

did last longer. I think it lasted about 50 minutes

to an hour or something. If anybody really wants

these figures, just go over to BigBadToyStore

.com. Yeah. I mean, they have these in stock.

They're $34 .99, I believe, which it's not that

marked up. considering other figures they did.

I mean, they're $20 for the figures. They cost

about $10 to ship. So there's $30 right there.

So they're marking it up to $5. That doesn't

bother me that much. And I will be talking about,

it's really one figure, but it's really two because

nobody really knew what was going on because

the figure that I'll be talking about is Orko.

We have yeah, stop making that face. That's scary.

Um Like I'm gonna show you my old face. Oh, oh,

oh, come on office space people Yeah, I'll set

the place on fire I'll put strict night in the

guacamole But anyway, I'm gonna be talking about

master the universe What the hell was that punch

counterpunch? No, what was that? That's um, um,

I forgot his name Somebody tell me in the u -stream

tell me tell us what that name it the guy's name.

I don't know. It doesn't look like he has a head

It's camper. He doesn't okay. So anyway masters

the universe classics or ko with Stop it. Masters

of the universe, classics, orco. Yup, see? I

told you. Stupid friggin' stand. It won't stand

up if you oppose them a certain way. I'm trying

not to curse here because of this Ustream stuff.

You're doing well. I'm trying. You're doing well.

There's a few f -bombs hidden in there somewhere,

but... He is really cool. This is the first orca

we've had that is actually original show accurate.

Thank God. And I had wanted, because the only

review that I've really seen, because a certain

person won't do reviews of these figures yet,

I've seen Pixel Dan's review of him, and Pixel

Dan pointed out that... Stop shaking your shoulders

like that. Pixel Dan pointed out that he didn't

really like the original vintage toy and it wasn't

really so accurate. Well the reason why it's

not that so accurate on the original vintage

He -Man orko toy is because he had a gimmick.

He had a gimmick of pull back and let go and

he'd roll across the floor. Right. I thought

it was kind of fun. Well, it's kind of fun, but...

but this is the... the truest form of the original

80s orco that we're probably ever going to get.

There was a color - I mean, you look at them

and it says orco. There was a San Diego Comic

Con 2010 exclusive color change version. I hate

crap like that. Yeah, that's annoying. That's

just stupid. I don't like color change toys.

Those are for kids, not collectors. Yeah. Didn't

care for that at all. A lot of people, and PixelDan

pointed this out, but apparently there's bleeding

along the ears between the orange of the hat

and the blue of the ear. Mine isn't so bad, but

I've heard other people have a real, real issue

with it. My issue really comes on mine is his

eyes. He has black pupils with yellow surrounding

the eye, and he's got a black face, but part

of the black paint on the face is going into

the bottom part of the yellow part of the eye.

So it's kind of like he's got an upside down

eyelash in the bottom of his eye. He looks dopey!

If you look at him from like... You know, far

away, it's not so bad, but close up, yeah, it's

kind of bad. He looks cross -eyed. He's not cross

-eyed. And then you pointed something out to

me about his elbow and his left arm, that at

the elbow, his arm can't move up and down, which

I think that's kind of silly. That's the same

on yours, though, too. Yeah, pretty much. Yeah,

don't get that at all I think it's great that

and you know, you can kind of speak about this

because you've you've collected the other figures

I think it's great that he comes with a stand

and that you can kind of have him on the stand

and Now I have the original 83 or 82 or whatever.

It was Castle Grayskull. I've had it for 20 some

25 some odd years since I was a kid Anytime you

can I'm just saying Whatever anyway, but if I

have him up on the right hand turret If I have

him on the stand, but he's on the turret it The

stand is hidden very very well. I mean you can

still kind of see it, but it still looks like

he's floating Hopefully he'll stay up there as

I'm trying But I just prefer to have him off

the stand and just sitting on top of the skull

That's just my personal preference and the greatest

thing about this this oracle everybody was like

why is his box so much bigger than the regular

figures and Nobody knew why until lo and behold

you open it you get the packaging out and there's

a fully articulated atom laying at the bottom

of the box See Adam Which is it cracks me up

because it's It's actually dubbed as being Orko's

accessory, which cracks me up. Yes, and Adam

is basically the generic He -Man buck painted

up in his 80s vintage colors with his 80s vintage

magenta sword. Just that sword's not purple,

it's magenta, dammit. Magenta is a variation

of purple. I'm not going to disagree there, but

it is not truly purple. Because if you look at

his boots, his boots are purple. His sword is

not. Well, his boots aren't really purple. I

just looked over at him, and yeah, they're purple.

Told you. And the sword isn't. Well, shut up.

You know I'm right. Just go with it, dude. he

does come with an additional he -man head which

in some cases really sucks giant Devastator Balls

he does come with he actually comes with two

swords he comes with a full magenta power sword

and he comes with a half power sword what are

you calling it magenta? it is magenta purple

with a little extra red That's magenta. Stupid

magenta. You look at the Decepticon insignia,

that's purple. This is not purple. Anyways. Very,

very cool. And again, I did this last episode,

I thanked you again, but I'm very glad that I

actually got Orko and Adam. No, we're not talking

transformers. No transformers for you You know

you had given me a Dora and I'm very glad that

I actually bought Adam so I could have the two

of them together because It just it looks really

cool as far as like a display piece the only

I completely agree it may look They need to be

together Yeah, but not in the way that that sounded.

The only real minor gripe I have against him

is there is no holster on his back for his sword.

But other than that... Very, very cool. I'm very

happy that they went with a hard plastic type

of vest and not that stupid felt crap. I would

have liked it. It would have been a whole lot

more... You know, somebody just mentioned that

in my Ustream. I just kind of got distracted.

You know, they really should have released Oracle

separately and released Adam. full -on figure

not an accessory but release him with a small

cringer they really should have done that yeah

they they should have I mean that because I mean

if you take if you take the armor off the battle

cat it still isn't really and even with the original

toy because I had the original battle cat you

know in fact what I'll do I'm gonna go I'm gonna

go over to my shelf I'm gonna grab battle cat

I'm gonna take his armor off and I'm gonna show

you... I know! I've seen his armor off, but go

ahead! Screw you, no! That's fine! Go ahead,

do it! I'm gonna do it! I'm gonna do it! But,

I've seen the... Stop waving your hand around.

I've seen the Classics Battle Cat without the

armor, and yes, I do agree that it doesn't look

anything like Krinter, but at the same time,

neither did the vintage toy. No, you're absolutely

right. I mean, and I don't think they ever released

uh, I don't think they ever released a cringer

figure So it would be the first one. But yeah,

the original one was uh, the original vintage

battle cat You just took the arm off and oh,

there's cringers, you know, but yeah, I mean

it's the exact same way Which is probably why

they did it that way I just think that having

having they should have had the main Main release

be Prince Adam and with a little accessory a

little cringer I mean, you put all that other

crap, I mean, you get a head, you know, I mean,

you get, you know, extra heads and you get all

this armor and, you know, stuff for, you know,

packings and accessories. They could have just

put a sword and cringer. A little tiny articulated

cringer. That would have been fantastic. At least

Orko by himself. Yeah, I agree. They wanted to

charge you $30 for that Prince Adam and Orko.

That's probably what it was. yeah but i mean

still i mean it's not if you look at it you're

getting okay adam is what i mean we've agreed

we agree last episode that these figures are

what seven inches maybe six and a half seven

inches something or so you're getting a fully

articulated adam i mean even even if orco was

just twenty dollars and adam was that an extra

dollars it's still a good deal I don't think

people would have paid $20 just for an Orko.

They probably would have complained about that.

And I wouldn't have. And they don't want to sell

it for less than $20. I don't think there's a

single thing that Maddie Collector sells that's

less than $20. I think they want to keep their

price point right there and at the $20. So if

you sold Orko by himself, even if you put accessories

in there, you're only going to be able to charge

$10, $15 for that guy. And I think that's why.

Okay, well we can even say the reverse. We can

say that Orko was the $10 and Adam was the $20,

so there's the $30 plus whatever the shipping

would be, but I mean still, Adam himself, regardless

whether he came as a regular figure by himself

or ... I kind of like that he came with Orko

and I kind of find it funny that they deem him

Orko's accessory because I think it's funny the

way that they have him, you know, laying down

in the bottom of the box. That's that's funny.

But from in the original vintage and even even

in the even in the 2000 X, Adam's best friend

was Cringer. Bar none, bar none. I mean, Orko

was his buddy, but. Or, you know, I mean, but

Cringer was his best friend. So, I mean, I agree.

I mean, it's nice. I mean, I'm happy that we

got him. I just really want a Cringer. And if

we don't get a Cringer, I'll probably be very

annoyed that we didn't. So, Mattel, make a Cringer.

Or I'll come on after you, because I know where

your headquarters is, boys. I used to play hockey

right behind the world headquarters for Mattel.

I know where you are. I'll find you, toy guru.

Okay, sorry. One of the reasons why I like having

you on this show, especially when we do master

stuff, is because I meant to tell the story last

episode, in episode 73 of Toycast, and I kind

of forgot about it. But one of the reasons why

I really like this line, this new classics line,

is because it allows us to get updated versions

of all the old figures that we used to have as

kids. Castle Grayskull is the only thing Outside

of it in two Ninja Turtles Donatello and Leonardo

who are extremely the they're the original turtles

not those transforming pieces of garbage They

have really bad paint fade on them. Yeah, so

you're just getting it now You're just getting

it now what I said a second ago Wow. But these

guys are the original turtles and these guys

are the best turtles even though they have paint

fade on them. You sir, you sir, to say something

like that, you have balls. No, no, no, I don't

need to say that. You got balls. So getting back

to the story here take that thing off the screen

so yeah The basis of the story is Castle Grey

Skull and two Ninja Turtles from the 80s, the

original Turtles, the best Turtles that there

ever have been as far as the 80s line goes, were

the only three toys that I was able to salvage

from my childhood. No, this is not Titanic. Stop

the violin playing. What happened was when I

was six years old, okay, Dr. Claw, you can knock

it off now. I'm gonna have to minimize this window

so I don't have to look at that. Holy crap, I'm

so distracted right now. Bottom line, in 1986

when I was six years old, I had every single

master's figure. The only two things I think

I was missing was Palace of Eternia. and something

else. I think I was missing a couple of the vehicles.

I had Grey Skull, I had Snake Mountain, I had

every single version of He -Man they ever put

out then. I had everything. And a majority of

the collection was at Snake Mountain and all

that stuff was at my dad's house in Rhode Island.

I go down there to visit one time and I go in

the little room he had set aside for me and my

toys are gone. oh my god everything gone I would

have flipped out dude here is exact words yeah

I sold all that stuff you're six years old you're

too old for toys oh my god I could be rich right

now if I still had all that stuff easily I could

be just insanely rich right now and the only

thing I was able to salvage was Castle Grayskull

which is no longer in any kind of complete form

other than the one upper right hand turret little

piece that's inside the turret to have the figure

stand in there. Yeah, it's depressing as hell.

Yeah, I know. So I am very glad that this vintage

line, not vintage, but this classics line is

out. And as I've said multiple times, the new

figures look awesome next to the original Castle

Grayskull. They really do. They really do. I've

seen yours and I'm jealous. a Wheeler and Duke

Nukem figure from Captain Planet, a James Bond

Jr. figure from McDonald's Happy Meal, just all

these weird mismatched things. And it's like,

oh, it's not the same. It's rough. Yeah, it's

rough. I'm paying attention to you and at the

same time. I'm showing a whole bunch of toys

that my sister found in her collection that she's

that she has given me and they're inspector gadget

toys and They're fantastic. Like here's here's

one and you push a little button on the side

of his arm and go go gadget arms and another

one that has like a little key on it and It extends

and he's he's wearing purple. I don't remember

him wearing purple. Didn't he weird? You are

gray. It was gray Yeah, and here's another one.

That's like kind of bluish in color But he's

wearing skates and you got little buttons on

the side of his leg you go go get your legs And

there it is and then he's in like oh, yeah, and

oh I wonder if he's actually removed all these

actually come up. Oh That's so cool So yeah overall,

I'm really thrilled with But the Masters Classics

line, regardless of the whole Matty Collector

debacle every month, but you know, like I said,

I will be buying these from Big Bad Toy Store.

I think the next one I might get, I might get

Skeletor. I think. From Big Bad Toy Store? Yeah,

I would pick that one up. Mostly because they

have a 2 -pack that's released right now. I'm

not getting that stupid 2 -pack. Yeah, I don't

get don't get that because he doesn't come with

his havoc staff Yeah, no, I know I would get

the reissue schedule scared scared schedule a

tour. What the hell is a schedule a tour? I would

get the the reissue Skeletor Yeah, cuz yeah Now

now there are just some toys some men should

not have and that's one of them This is this

is this is absolutely amazing you leave penny

alone This is so cool. I remember this one actually

I remember that's dr. Claw dude. That's doc.

Oh I mean here's his arm he actually he used

to have a bomb that would fit in here and then

you push this little button and you can kind

of see it like his his grip loosening and he

would drop it and And here's it. Here's his cat

I mean, it's awesome. Somebody's asking in the

chat here if you're going to review the gadget

toys. Not in this episode, but we will probably

do it in a future episode. Yeah, we'll do it

next time on Toycast Radio. Geekcast Radio episode

Toycast or whatever. Yeah, I don't know. So yeah,

overall, Master's Classics, very awesome. Whiplash

does look very cool. It's not a character that

I would probably get just because it's not that...

I'm the person that I'll get the characters that

I love to where I have the collection that I

want, like animated. I only have certain animated

toys. I don't have stupid sentinel prime. What

the? Ooh, brain. Brain! And he's got bendy joints.

He's got bendy joints. Even in his ears, it's

really awesome. All he needs now is a little

headset wire thing to his mouth. I know, that

would be awesome. Yeah, that would be so awesome.
