The episode also features their new "Display Case" segment showcasing Beast Wars II Galvatron and Transformers Animated Arcee.

Cliffjumper, commence countdown. Five, four,

three, two... Hello and welcome to episode 63

of Toycast. And no, we are not back yet. This

is yet another special episode because San Diego

Comic Con 2010 is happening right now. We are

recording this July 22nd, 2010, Thursday evening.

I am your host, TFG1Mike, and I am joined with

General Techno. Hello, sir. Hello there. How

are you? Good, good. I'm doing well. That's good.

Back from TFCon. Yes, you went to TFCon. How

was it this year? Well, it's same as every year.

It's phenomenal That's that's one way to just

sum it up without going into detail. Um Well,

there's gonna be a show on that so I don't yeah.

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, yeah What else have

you been up to besides TFCon? Um, not too much.

I mean just Yeah, hasn't been all that much going

on so yeah get up to much so We have a new format

here at Toycast and it actually premieres in

this episode. We're going to be streamlining

the show a little bit. We're going to have different

segments. We will still have the toy talk as

always. But we're going to head into the toy

news segment now. And with San Diego Comic Con

going on, of course, there's going to be lots

of toy news. And for me, the biggest thing...

uh... that i've seen so far outside of some of

the transformer stuff which really honestly that's

a problem with bot con and san diego comic -con

they have a month apart from each other so as

far as has grown transformers you're just going

to see the same stuff that you've seen a bot

con now granted the same problem next year as

well yeah they're going to be really close again

yeah uh... and uh... you know but has personal

has gi joe and and uh... Oh, what's the other

30 -year -old? Star Wars. There you go. I know.

I did that on purpose, ladies and gentlemen.

Don't worry. I know what Star Wars is. I don't

want people calling into the voicemail line,

which is back up now, or, you know, emailing

in, oh my god, you forgot Star Wars. I know,

I was trying to play a little joke there. But,

go ahead. It's not completely the same either

this year because the fact that Hasbro has put

a lot of their San Diego Comic Con focus as well

on just promoting their new channel and their

new shows. So I'm wondering if we're going to

see a change in Hasbro's stuff from here on out

as they become less of a toy company and more

of an overall media company. So it's going to

become more about what shows they're presenting

and that sort of thing and not necessarily as

much about the toys. True, but I mean... And

honestly, when you break it down to bare bones,

Hezbro is still a toy manufacturer. Yes, but

they're trying to shift themselves into a whole

media manufacturer. Yeah, yeah, true. The biggest

news for me comes from Mattel actually. Pixel

Dan and the... a crew from popculturenetwork

.com are actually at San Diego Comic Con and

they've gotten Mattel's DC Preview Night and

Mattel's Masters of the Universe Preview Night

and oh wow, the Masters of the Universe Classic

stuff that's coming out. I so need to get into

that line, unfortunately, and I'm not gonna go

off on a tangent on this, but we all know what

a huge fuckup mattycollector .com is, so I will

try to get a lot of the Masters of the Universe

Classics toys from Big Bad Toy Store. Good there's

not much at STCC. I'm all that interested in

this year I mean they has pros not doing the

sketchbooks this year, which was a bit of a downer

and Because I was gonna get at TF con because

there was someone who was actually going there

Who was gonna pick up a bunch of sketchbooks

for people and then they announced oh, we're

not gonna have them this year kind of sucked

and although I am Hopefully the still fall this

still goes through I did ask for some pick up

of the Doctor Who exclusive that Comic -con so

yeah I am super interested in the MOTU Classics

because I I grew up with that show I grew up

with that that franchise and They had a display

in the video of all of the currently released

figures in the line with castle grayskull what

looks to be a castle grayskull playset or it

might just be a display piece i don't know i

hope it's a playset i'm not saying if it is or

not because i don't know i don't have the inside

source so yeah that that's the biggest thing

for me out of comic con as far as i think one

of the bigger exclusives there well there's two

i guess there's the sergeant slaughter figure

Yeah. That's probably a big one. I mean, there's

a variant of that as well at Comic -Con. And

of course, the other exclusive would be all those

Westboro Baptist Church protesters. That and...

Although I guess that exclusive gets around a

bit, but normally at funerals and such. Ew, that's

kind of creepy. They pick at certain funerals,

so... Yeah, I think the biggest ones for me,

and again it goes back to the Masters Classics

line, they have Orko there, and the con -exclusive

version is a color change, I don't really care

about that, but they are going to be selling

a regular version, and he comes with a Prince

Atom as his accessory, which is really really

cool. uh... i don't know how often we're going

to do the toy news segment honestly it just depends

on if there's like epic toy news that we want

to talk about so we're going to get into the

display case which is the new title for the toy

talk segment and what will you be talking about

sir i'm going to be talking about a figure from

the peace force second line of that to carton

we did back in the nineties which i picked up

at t f con This is, now just to give a bit of

background, Beast Wars 2nd was a filler anime

that Takara ended up commissioning back when

Beast Wars was out because Season 1 of Beast

Wars had aired in Japan. They didn't have Seasons

2 and 3 yet. They were waiting on those because

they did both Seasons 2 and 3 as one series,

Beast Wars Medals. Because if you recall, Season

1 had a bigger order of episodes anyway. Yep.

They were waiting on more episodes. So what they

did was they did Beast Wars 2nd as a filler anime.

And what they did in that for toys is they used

a lot of the Beast Wars toys that were not in

the show and repainted them in the different

characters. They took a bunch of G2 toys and

a few G1 toys, like Tripticon for instance, got

re -released as Gigastorm in this line. As well

as some of the Cyber Jets and G2 Megatron with

Megastorm. But then they also had a few unique

molds that they made just for this toy line as

well, which was mainly stuff like a few extras

like Moon and also the leaders like Lio Convoy

and Galvatron, who was the leader of the Destrons.

Now Galvatron is a really cool figure because

of the fact that he's what I would call... I

mean, I know Mike has his own feelings on this

sort of thing, but he's what I would call the

best, most true triple changer in the Beast Wars

toy line, in that he went from robot to dragon

to drill tank. And unlike the Transmetal, now

the Transmetals were kind of triple changers,

they all had third modes, but what separates

Galvatron from those guys is his drill tank isn't

just... We're taking a dragon and we're gonna

slap on a few parts So it looks like a drill

enough of it transforms such that you can't really

tell it turns into a dragon aside from maybe

the tailpiece But even that's not really a giveaway

Yeah Yeah, I mean I do agree with you as far

as the Beast Wars line goes he is the the the

truest triple changer toy line for Beast Wars

but You know I go back and listen to the episode

of the beast unleash podcast where we talk about

bad spark and it was episode 13 because we also

talked about code a hero in that one Go back

and listen to episode 13 and you'll hear my thoughts

on Who I think Beast Wars triple changers are

What else would you like to bring up with with

Galvatron? Well, he's a pretty cool figure. As

I mentioned, he's got a really involved transformation.

Like, all three modes, there's a lot that changes

really subtly. He's one of those figures where

you move a lot of parts in order to transform

them into either mode. He's got very good posability,

like a lot of Beast Wars toys. Like, I mean,

some of them were bricks in beast mode, to be

fair, and then they were really posable in robot

mode. But Galvatron isn't one of those figures.

He's got a fully posable neck. He's got like

his mouth opens and closes. His legs and feet

are very posable as well. His wings can be moved

around. They can be deployed into their weapon

mode in because they've got a claw mode for the

wings that can go out in either the modes. He's

got a flapping action on the wings. He's in drill

mode. There's a button you can press in order

to spin his drill. He's got missiles that shoot

out of the tail, which then can also become missile

launchers on his forearms in robot mode. And

then his wings can detach and become a claw weapon

as well. So he's a very well -armed figure. He's

got a very nice deco like a lot of the Japanese

figures. And his colors are really good. They're

evocative of G1 Galvatron. He's predominantly

different shades of purple with some gold on

him for the drill. And honestly, I'm not sure

if this is the gold or if it's something else,

but I'm going to have to bring up an issue that

I just had with mine just today, actually. Because

the last few days since I got home, I've really

been fiddling with this guy since I failed them

with it when I got him on Friday. And I've been

fiddling with him the last few days. And I'm

suspicious that he's plagued by the gold plastic

syndrome that a lot of the Beast Wars toys were

known for. Mm -hmm because the fact that I went

to I was transforming him and One the back of

the heel on one of his legs broke off. Oh Really

broken a bit further since it doesn't it kind

of fits in now like it's normally pretty well

attached but I think it just must be because

Because I'm now wasn't putting any super undue

stress on it. So I'm wondering if it's just an

issue of the plastic Cause I wasn't bending it

really in a way that can't bend. But yeah, I

mean, it's kind of minor in that it still fits

in fine. Like I can still display him fine in

either mode. It's not going to affect him horribly,

but it's just one of those things that's kind

of inconvenient cause I just got him and everything

like that. But yeah overall still good figure

and what I would recommend for people looking

for this toy is There were there were actually

two versions of these toys that were done. There

were some that were done for the Korean market

as well These ones come in different boxes and

I don't believe they have rub signs either Because

this guy does not have a rub sign where the Japanese

one would have one He's got the indent for it,

but a rub sign Yeah, but anyway these Korean

figures the advantage to them is that they've

got bigger box and stuff But they're easier to

get because they were because they're made for

different market. You can generally find them

cheaper Like I'm pretty sure I've seen one on

BBTS friends since I'm just running a quick search

right now Yeah, I my thing yes, I just found

him on BBTS you can buy him right now for $30

on BBTS it's not bad yeah as i said like these

guys they're not hard to get in the uh korean

boxes yeah you know when you showed me pictures

from tfu about this it was um it and obviously

it takes homages from the g1 toy except as you

said it's a true triple changer not just a crotch

gun trigger thing um but yeah i i as soon as

i saw the picture of the robot mod i'm like oh

It's G1 Galvatron in slightly different colors

or a slightly different design. Just as far as

the way the robot mode looks though, because

the legs and the shoulders remind me of the G1

toy. actually the legs are almost a criticism

on this toy in my mind because the way his knee

joints are built in robot mode in order to accommodate

all the other modes with the second with the

different robot legs and the treads they are

actually placed really oddly in that the upper

legs are really far back like the lower legs

stick out a lot further than the upper legs so

there are some balance so he is a bit back heavy

just in his design But that's kind of rectified

because he's got the drill hanging off of his

back in robot mode, so you can use that as kind

of a third leg in order to prop him up. Oh. So

I mean, that resolves... I mean, he's engineered

such that, yes, there's a design flaw, but they

kind of rectify it just by the way the robot

mode transformation works. Because they're all

ratcheted joints, but the knees are still too

weak in order to properly support it. Like, they

won't bend, he'll just fall over. Speaking of

stuff falling over But yeah, he's a good figure

he's a good figure he looks good on a Beast Wars

shelf and I'm just gonna mention this to a very

quickly because it's a Slightly off top slightly

off topic. I just noticed this as I was as we

were recording but another thing I got really

cheap was a pterosaur and What from Beast Wars

like the original one and what I found really

neat was when I bought it like Oh Cool since

he's one of those absurdly poseable figures from

the ball joint era you can get him in some really

good poses yeah yeah anything else on galvatron

uh nothing else to say except again i'd watch

it for gps if that happens he has very little

gold plastic on him again it's just on the drills

and on the feet and the drills those aren't going

to break because they're They're solid. The only

places where there would be a potential breakage,

there's enough plastic, they're reinforcing it

that I don't really see it being an issue the

way it's built. But the feet you need to move

the feet, you need to move the feet a lot in

the transformations. So the heels would be definitely

something watch because the fact that they're

only secure that whereas the forward legs are

secured by like a full rod, the back feet are

not. So I would be very careful about those Yeah,

that doesn't sound like it's good design Well

again, this is they don't use gold plastic anymore.

This was back in the days when they did use gold

plastic. Yeah, true Yeah, so this but yeah, this

does impede him somewhat I mean it'll still look

okay on the shelf and if I keep him in say for

instance in robot mode a drill mode it's gonna

be kind of negligible anyway because It's only

really in beast mode that the dragon heel is

sticking out. Oh, okay. Good deal. Well, I finally,

thanks to Lupus Convoy, got a hold of two RCs.

Yes, and she's been talked to death on this show,

so I'm not really going to talk about her too

much, but I'm very happy that I have this, and

everybody was right. I mean I know the just from

seeing the pictures that dog dog from DFW took

that it was awesome but holy crap the light piping

on her I mean it's like it's like you have like

a shiny ball or something in in her head and

it's like oh my god oh yes she has very good

light piping yeah I would also recommend like

I'm not the first person to do this I'm gonna

give credit to evangelists here where credit

is due but there's a lot of little touch -ups

that you can do with her if you have, say, just

paint. Yeah, I'm not that inclined, or I'm not

really inclined to do that, but I'm not that

talented to do that, so I'm leaving her as is.

Or even just rep or label her to add the sticker.

But I mean, if you add the black around the eyes,

it adds a lot to her, for instance, because you

can do that really easily because her head comes

apart. Yeah, like I said, I'm... Yeah, I'm not,

uh... I'm not that technically able to do so,

so I'm just gonna leave it the way it is. I do

agree with you, it does look a lot better that

way, but just having the figure as she is, it's

fine with me. I really have no complaints about

her whatsoever, and I got three of my other animated

toys to actually compare with her, because when

I originally did my video of her, i wasn't really

comparing her against the animated toys i think

i had her i think in the video i have shockwave

there i have g one hot rod and i have s g uh...

rodimus just because i'm cruel and evil uh...

but just i have optimus obviously he's a voyager

so obviously he's gonna be taller uh... and i

have jazz and blur here and she's the smallest

out of all of them which blur is is fred deluxe

is very tall but i mean she's probably closest

to jazz uh... as far as uh... uh... an equal

size comparison very very cool uh... and like

i said of course she keeps falling over dumb

drunk bitch uh... like i said i really don't

mind too much of the uh... the paint uh... differences

of course you know we we can't all have show

accurate toys for the most part which and she

wasn't in the show that much anyways but overall

very very well done glad i finally have her thank

you again to lupus convoy who is not only is

he on the tfw podcast he is my co -host over

at secret origins so Big thanks to him for grabbing

these for me. I do like her Cybertronian car

mode, I think it's really cool. I can do either

with or without the wings, it doesn't really

matter. As far as in robot mode, she doesn't

have her wings because they're just too hard

to get on there for me. Overall, really, really

dig RC and... we are going to take a quick break

and then we will come back and of course she

won't stand up correctly damn it we'll be back

come out Autobot we all must die sometime not

today Galvatron We are back and Toycast as I

said has a new format. Now we are going to have

a discussion topic along with the toy talk. You

just heard us talk about Transformers Animated

RC and Beast Wars 2 Galvatron. Right now we're

going to be covering sort of San Diego Comic

Con 2010. We will be specifically talking about

some of the Transformers news, especially the

Transformers Prime panel. They just announced

a whole ton of information on their new series,

G .I. Joe Renegades, which Hasbro is producing

for the hub. And frankly, it sounds very interesting.

It's a new take on G .I. Joe that they're doing.

The setup is one where, it sounds like the setup

is that Joe's are all fairly new. They're all

recruited in order to investigate the doings

of a company, Cobra Pharmaceuticals. Anyway,

one thing leads to another and they're all branded

as they're all framed and branded as fugitives

and Thus that's where the renegades name comes

from in that it's almost like the a team in that

sense that they're in that they're You know wanted

on the run sort of thing Like from and you know

trying to clear their names Yeah I'm curious

how much of that I imagine that they're probably

still getting support from certain quarters because

we've seen that General Hawk he's not It doesn't

look like he's being called the Hawk in the series.

They're having him go by General Labyrinathy,

like his real name. But Hawk is indeed in the

series, even though he has a very different design.

And there's some pretty cool designs for it.

The designs look really good. Like Snake Eyes

looks good. I mean, all the Joes look good. You've

got some movie influence, like Ripcord, for instance.

and Destro has a really cool design he's a guy

in a suit like he's in a business suit with the

Destro helmet very noir looking like it's he

looks really good Cobra Commander is similar

to the IDW version in that he doesn't have a

helmet he just has the battle mask without the

helmet yeah his whole head is just the mirror

mask Baroness looks cool the biggest departure

really is I would argue is Dr. Mindbender Because

he looks aside from a purple shirt. He looks

nothing like dr. Mindbender He's wearing a shirt

that enough should tell you that Yeah, like he

reminds me a lot more of like just I think they're

gonna use him as more of a young whiz a scientist

sort of thing and that he's developing a lot

of stuff and it looks like Mars like Destros

a Munitions company is gonna be in this series

as well and They're planning it for the long

haul like they're planning it for several seasons

which It sounds very interesting. I hope that

this showed as well. Yeah. Because the designs

look good, and they've got some solid voices.

Like, they've got James Marsden voicing Duke,

for instance. That's pretty awesome. They haven't

announced any of the others, although they've

said the original voices for Duke and Scarlet

will be in the show. They just won't be Duke

and Scarlet. They'll have other roles. Ah. I

hate crap like that. No, I don't mind it, because

these voice actors are all really talented people.

I'm sure they are, but again... They're very

different characters. Nothing against it when

they do stuff like that. Because we're not getting

the same G .I. Joe, we're getting a different

one. Yeah, true. The G .I. Joe thing is more

of... For me, I love the old cartoon, the 80s,

the Sunbeam cartoon, but it's more of something

that you and Steve Megatron could probably...

Talking I've seen very little of the Sunbow cartoon.

I did read a few months ago. I did get my hands

on Means to read Larry Hama's run on the GI Joe

comic. Yeah, and that actually makes me really

excited because I Assume you've heard about this

but they're relaunching his original Marvel comic

IDW Yeah, like the free comic book day. She was

155 and a half and 156 just came out this week

I didn't realize it was out. Otherwise, I would

have picked it up Yeah, it's getting very good

reviews. So and he basically just picked up,

you know, we did some update he did some modernization

and updates, but it's Basically, it's still it's

a sequel to his it picks up where he is old comic

left up Yeah, I I never have read those comics.

So I I only know the cartoons first GI Joe goes

well What I like about Larry Hama's stuff from

what I've read of like just going off the free

comic book day one is unlike a lot of comics

nowadays which are like written for the trade

Larry Hama his writing is basically he's sending

interviews he basically just he doesn't really

plan out stuff in advance he just goes off the

seat of his pants so he doesn't know how long

stuff is going to be necessarily he he's not

a very good writer for for them to write solicits

for because he's You're not necessarily sure

what he's gonna be doing like three four issues

down the road when he's writing an issue Mm -hmm,

cuz it go and go anywhere like a lot of the backstory

was more just he put something in was like Oh,

this is interesting that there's a similarity

between these two characters and then he did

in terms of like they have this same tattoo and

then he Do and then he delved into it later on

right? Yeah, and made that and made that into

a backstory Yeah, so getting back to SDCC, the

Transformers Prime panel. Awesome, awesome news,

especially for me who I was holding out on this,

but I was speculating that it was going to be,

and I know that this is wrong now, and obviously

since Hasbro is going to be making Transformers

Prime a lengthy type of cartoon and not just...

one or two seasons or three seasons or you know

leave it at some sort of cliffhanger with well

leave it at some sort of cliffhanger with autobots

returning to cybertron with captured decepticons

and canceling the fucking show and toy line assholes

um at least we know what they were going to do

now yeah still but anyway um but i was speculating

that it was going to be a movie tie -in cartoon

And that's not the case thankfully yay, I was

wrong It is taking place after the events of

war for Cybertron Very yes, very big surprise.

Yes, that's very very cool It was said in the

panel on TFW2005 .com the panel coverage. It

said that The Autobots are on earth in hiding

And it is said to take place after the events

of the game and the book the book being Transformers

Exodus which I have read which there will be

it's either going to be a Toycast special episode

or it's going to be a All Things Transformers

episode where wait a minute where Pecan Court

Michael and I discuss the differences between

the book and the game For reference's sake, I've

also both read the book and played the game.

I mean, they're very similar, but I won't take

away anything from your show. There are some

differences. But what I found interesting, reading

TFW had good coverage, but I've noticed T -Formers

tends to have good coverage because of the fact

that they take more time on their write -ups,

whereas TFW tries to get information up as quickly

as they can. But one tidbit that T -Formers had

was that the story bible that uh they have for

prime which i guess is just hasbro's bible for

transformers nowadays like this new continuity

they started with war for cybertron and exodus

it's 350 pages long to put that in perspective

that's longer than exodus yeah well is likely

padding this out so my guess is that and this

bible it likely includes all the stuff in modern

day earth all the character bios and information

like all those bios that we've been seeing in

the hall for the hall of fame stuff are probably

in there it's like all those characters all the

stuff on the 13 and the origins and primus and

unicorn and the multiverse i'm sure all that

stuff is in there but the thing is is that war

for cybertron touches on I'm swear what I'm convinced

that Hasbro did is that they handed Alex Irvine

their Bible and said Okay, we need you to write

a book that takes those from these events here

to these events here write this Well, yeah, I

mean they contracted him out to Yes to write

the thing because the sole copywriter is is Hasbro

his name His name does not appear at all in in

the copyright information whatsoever. His name

only appears on the front cover of the book Yes,

I very heavily suspect that all this story information

grew out of those meetings that Hasbro's been

having the last few years. I think it was last

year they had a roundtable meeting with Simon

Furman, Ben Yee, Forest Lee. Like all the people

who are in the know about Transformers and Transformers

lore were all at this thing and I suspect that's

where they began to hash out the beginnings of

what we have here in terms of Hasbro's bio in

the... Hasbro's Bible in the new continuity.

Yeah. Now as far as Prime goes, Transformers

Prime, as far as the design goes, I wish they

would have just CGI'd the designs for more for

Cybertron. I've seen the giant Optimus Prime

statue, I've seen the Bumblebee animatic, and

I'm not too thrilled with them. uh... as far

as the design aesthetic and the way the characters

look uh... but i do like that it will be full

cgi i do agree that it is going to be awesome

to have continuing from war for cybertron and

it's not really in the movie universe at all

uh... what about you because i i don't know well

i really like the way that they went first i

guess the first comment i'll say is i'm glad

that they didn't go for photorealism with the

human designs Like in the T -formers coverage,

there's a bit there where they make it clear

that they didn't want to go that route because

of Uncanny Valley. So they instead went for a

more stylized, animated look. And it actually

works pretty well for the humans. I mean, I don't

have high expectations for the humans, but no

one had high expectations for Sari, and she became

a fan favorite. So you never know with US writing

on hand. But the robot designs themselves. I

was actually, I was expecting something that

was a lot more movieish in style and I was very

pleasantly surprised at how much I liked these

designs. Prime and Bumblebee are actually my

least favorite because Prime is, well he's Prime

and Bumblebee is, well, Bumblebee. It's just,

there's nothing super special about them. Well

the thing is, I'm sorry to interrupt you here,

but the thing is the problem I have with it is

they're trying to marry two different... very

different universes for design they're trying

to mix animated with movie design and i don't

like that well what i thought was pretty good

though was looking at the uh... For instance,

Megatron's design for the Decepticons, I thought

he had a very good design. It was basically like

they took Derek Wyatt's design for Cybertron

Megatron from Animated, made it all gray, and

then just added some spikiness to make it more

movie -ish. But it's very much his Cybertronian

Megatron design, if you look at that, just with

an alt mode. An alt mode that actually is clearly

defined unlike the toy. It's not just a pile

of parts. You can actually see it turns into

something, right? But the designs that I really

loved were RC and Cliffjumper's designs RC's

design I love simply because the fact that Just

talking about it. I mean To other people. I mean,

yeah, it's not all that RC in that it's mainly

blue But as far as a fan bought design goes I

am honestly, I am crossing my fingers that the

toy turns out this well because if it does this

is the best fan -bot design we've seen pretty

much. RC is a very good design, the animated

one, but I would argue that this is the best

one ever if they can pull off the toy on this.

See that's the thing though, we won't know until

they decide to actually make toys because as

of right now there are no plans to make toys

based on the cartoon designs. while we're going

to get toys eventually we're going to eventually

come out right but i'm saying as of right now

where is this is the almost the end of july uh...

hub premieres in october you know and they said

that the show may not premier with hub right

What I'm anticipating is that we're going to

see toys. We're not going to see toys at launch,

but we're going to see some very small toy line,

which will probably just have a few things alongside

the movie at most. Like maybe they'll use generations

or something like that to get these out, but

we won't see very many. And then once the movie

has died down, then we'll see a full line. because

Hasbro is setting up Prime as a series that is

going to expand. And the thing about that too

is that gives them time to introduce a lot of

characters so that by the time the toys come

out, all of these toys will have shown up on

the series already. Right. And may still be showing

up. But yeah, and Cliffjumper, I love his design

because he's got a design that fits his personality.

His head is very animated in style. It reminds

me a lot of the animated Cliffjumper head, which

I love. And the body, it's unmistakably Cliffjumper.

It's got a very good silhouette. He's bulky.

He's stocky. He's got the same type of chest

that G1 Cliffjumper had. It's a really phenomenal

design, Cliffjumper. Yeah. I love this Cliffjumper

design. And an honorable mention has to be given

to the Decepticon Soldier design as well. Yeah.

As far as the voicing for this cartoon, holy

crap. After getting a lot of the links and everything

else from TFW and everything else, I went over

to one of my favorite forum sites, earth2 .net,

because I posted a topic over there for Transformers

Prime and for news links and all that stuff,

and I put up the tag that I have for the Cullen

and Welker video thing, TF Prime. Colin and Welker

back in the saddle again, because oh wow. A.

It needs good voice direction to be pulled off

properly and B. He has very little range with

that voice. He can't, he even says in the video

one of the problems with that voice is that he

can't do very much vocal range with it. Yeah,

it's because it's high and it's up here and it's

like this and you know. Yes, and he has gotten

older and that voice was always, that voice was

one of his harder ones to perform even back in

the Sunbow days 25 years ago. Yeah. But Yeah,

I love how he took his voice down a bit. So it

still has a lot of that g1 character in it But

he's improved it such that he can actually perform

it and do salty and tone And he'll still reach

those high points that g1 megatron reached so

he still does was voice in these high points

Yeah, I can also bring it to them. Yeah No, stop

that. Um, but yeah, it's just so awesome uh...

and and colin i mean it it's peter colin it's

just there's no you know you don't mess with

g g one optimus prime voice style you you just

don't that's especially coming from colin i mean

it would be different if it was optimus primal

which is a completely different character or

if it was optimus prime from animated which is

david k so but If you're gonna get Cullen as

classic optimist, you don't have him mess with

that whatsoever. Damn, I was hoping they would

port over Johnny Young Bosch. Part of that is

simply because the fact I like Johnny Young Bosch

in war for Cybertron don't get me wrong But also

because in Exodus they explicitly mentioned the

whole lot. They work in a mute bumblebee That's

my husband's going going forward a bumblebee

who communicates to the radio. I know I think

he's going to be like that in the show but also

But also one thing with that Needs to be brought

up as well. Is that that ratchet design? That's

really cool. That's Jeffrey Coombs voicing him

Yeah, Jeffrey come you've ever seen that like

I mean I know him best from Because when I started

looking him up and was found out. Holy crap.

He did all these characters on Star Trek deep

space nine Yep, what if you want to get an idea

of Jeffrey Coombs is range watch deep space nine

he's played several different characters on there

because of the fact that he they have makeup

and We unit is probably the one he's most obviously

known for. Yeah, I hate to pick on you, buddy,

but you're pronouncing his name wrong. It's not

Coombs, it's Jeffrey Combs. Okay, my mistake.

I thought it was two O's. No, it's Jeffrey Combs,

and I mainly know him from voicing the question

in JLU. Right. Which, that was just awesome.

I like what they're going to be doing with Prime.

I'm still sketchy on the design aspect of the

cartoon, but I'm very happy that it's War for

Cybertron continuity instead of movie verse.

I said it a second ago, I hate the fact that

they're bringing over movie stuff like a mute

bumblebee. I don't like that. Honestly, as far

as War for Cybertron continuity goes, I'm honestly

suspecting that what it's basically going to

be is not necessarily War for Cybertron specifically,

but more generally in terms of this is the continuity

outlined in Exodus, this is the new continuity

Hasbro is using going forward. I would honestly

place Exodus above War for Cybertron in Canonicity

because I think that fits closer to Hasbro's

story Bible. Well true because it's a prose novel

but for Cybertron is what most people have been

exposed to So they're not gonna say it's similar

to this book. They're gonna say it's similar

to this video game We just put out right, but

I mean the thing is though as far as continuity

wise goes Exodus is According to the book. It's

the unofficial history of war for Cybertron So

it says the war for Cybertron. It doesn't say

war for such on is in the game. Okay, well You

know what I mean? but yeah uh... and but it even

so i one of my biggest complaints about the book

is is that they make bumblebee mute and i'm thinking

okay well they make his character just from what

i read in the book they make his character like

this kick -ass spy bot who sneaks around for

the auto bots finding out stuff that that nobody

else would find out about his technically he

is the smallest one and then They go and do the

fucking movie -verse thing of him being mute.

I hate that, I don't like it. If you're gonna

make him have some sort of kick -ass spy bot

personality, give him a voice to go along with

it. Now, if you had said something like, oh,

he's like animated blur, where he can spy on

people for deca -cycles and deca -cycles and

not say a word in queue to himself, but he still

has a voice, that's fine. But... Just bringing

over a mute bumblebee from the fucking movies,

I hate that. But it would be but I'm actually

want to start thinking this through and discussing

it with people because I think it could be very

much very solid because it's new and it's different

Hasbro won't do it, but it's yeah still a very

it could be a very cool idea even for fanfiction.

Yeah Yeah Overall just from what we've seen and

right now it's only what is it day? What is this

day one of SDCC? Yes, it is, you know, so Hasbro

has any more panels to mind you oh okay well

I mean just as like yeah just as like SDCC in

general as far as toy talk and all that stuff

that's pretty much all I was looking for from

them was the Masters of the universe stuff you

know I would love to eventually experience SDCC

but again it's in San Diego across the friggin

country I had a bad enough time when I was living

in Mississippi in the Central Time Zone, let

alone going out to the Pacific Time Zone for

a vacation. Do we have anything else we want

to say about SDCC? Don't really think there's

much else to bring to bring up about it. I mean

it's As far as Hasbro stuff goes as far as the

toys go. It's been a somewhat lackluster show

But again, that's because of how close it was

when the bark on it when is bought to balkan?

When is balkan next year again June 2nd to the

5th? Well balkan they might not have the same

problem because balkan was the end of June this

year Yeah, so they might actually have some stuff

to show with SDCC next year whereas Because last

year BotCon was around the same time, but they

had new stuff to show at SDCC like Bludgeon Yeah

So it may well be that some of that stuff Like

I mean even stuff like who knows like stuff like

blur may have been stuff that they would have

showed at SDCC instead of BotCon so last year

Yeah Instead this is what we're getting and I

think that we're I think Transformers It's going

to be a very good few years for people Assuming

that like the franchise you two are going to

be willing to change Along with it Yeah, I think

that I don't know what else they're gonna do

for especially as far as franchise goes As far

as the toys go, I don't know what else they're

going to be putting into Generations line besides

what we've already seen so far. Well, the stuff

that they've mentioned sounds pretty cool. Myself,

I think that, I mean, Generations, after that

we're going to get more movie stuff, obviously.

I imagine Generations will... take a backseat

for a while no no it better not because no because

that makes no sense though because generations

is spoke technically it's universe 3 .0 so yes

and what happened universe 2 .0 when the movie

came around true but still that's why they have

transformers hunt for the decepticons they can

always turn that into transformers 3 or transformers

whatever but I don't think generations should

take a backseat I honestly hope that the third

movie line does not last, regardless of its monetary

value or earnings. I don't think it should last

as long as fucking Marengo the Fallen did. Right.

Well, I think what they're going to do again,

I think that generations by the time the movie

comes around I think they're gonna shift it either

rename it or replace it with Transformers Prime

and just in very limited numbers because that

is something that you need to keep in mind that

retailers are going to want to pick up stuff

that's relevant. Like, if there's a movie line,

they need to give the toy retailers a good reason

to buy stuff other than the movie line when that's

out. I'm not arguing length, though. Look how

long, by the time Revenge of the Fallen was released

in theaters, to the time it went to DVD, to now.

Look how long it's taken them to change that

toy line from ROTF to Hunt for the Decepticons.

True whatever the case though. I think that we're

going to see the revenge of the fallen after

transformers 3 I think we're going to see the

movie line cool down for a bit because I Can

see Hasbro wanting to take a break from movies

for a couple of years? Because I think that this

is big gonna be Bay's last ones They're gonna

have to they're not gonna be able to do rush

another one out in two years They're gonna have

to figure out what to do. We could see a style

change. We could see new voice actors who knows

I honestly don't want to see any more transformers

movies unless they're unless there's some sort

of animated thing I honestly don't want to see

any more transformers live -action films outside

of the third film just to finish off Bay And

get him out of that fucking franchise Uh, yeah.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Michael

Bay raped my childhood like Starscream rapes

giant metal bugs. But anyway. So, thank you for
