About this Episode

TFG1Mike and PecanCtMichael discuss their Rhinox collections across different toy lines—Beast Wars originals, Transmetals, and 10th anniversary figures—comparing cartoon accuracy and paint applications. They also dive deep into the Robot Heroes line, examining figures like Rhinox and Waspinator, lamenting the line's discontinuation, and exploring which figures they missed. The episode opens with a call for listener participation in episode 50.

to the 45th episode of toy cast sponsored by

big bad toy store comm where you can save from

20 to 90 percent on over 1 ,000 items I am your

host TFG you and Mike and joining me tonight

is peak on court Michael. Hello. Hey, how's it

going? It's going. How are you? I'm okay for

the most part for the most part Yeah, I'll get

into it shortly, but I was having a disgruntled

moment. Yes, a disgruntled Transformers collecting

moment. It's like right when you think you have

everything just the way you want, something ends

up missing. That's like when we had Pia on and

he was going to talk about his BotCon Springer.

He lost one of the missiles. I guess it fell

behind, this is way back in Toycast history,

it's like episode 12 or 13. He um, uh, it like

fell behind his desk or whatever, he found it

like two hours later, but he was so pissed when

it happened. I think I remember that one. Yeah,

yeah. So it's - Those are expensive, I wouldn't

want to lose any of them. Oh no. That's why I

keep them in the - wow, god this - I'm so lame.

Mine are all still in the plastic. I don't even

open them. I live vicariously through those who

do open them. Yes, like me. Brave souls. Yes.

Yeah, like you. Like me. Who can't transform

an optimist prime to save my life? That's right.

That's why I buy two of everything. These big

ham fists that keep snapping off rear -view mirrors

and they fly around the room. I know it, right?

You know what? I still can't... The other one's

around here somewhere on my desk, but I still

can't find the first headlight off of one of

my animated Voyager Primes that I initially busted

off. I still can't find that. Don't feel too

bad. I have a small pile of accessories on my

desk that either I forgot where they went to

or I just don't really feel like... putting them

back on the toy was on my shelf. So I was like,

hey, where'd this gun come from? And, ah, just,

just, eh. I'll put it back eventually, but not

right now. Yeah, yeah. So what kind of adventures

have been going on in the Wilson house this week?

Oh, all sorts of things. Aidan is talking more,

and Gavin's starting to talk a little bit, which

is always nice. His favorite word now is this.

This this he's gonna be a JavaScript programmer.

He's like this And you know, it's not like you

know that thing here or that thing there or you

know, you know He just points and says this Okay,

well that it is whatever you want It's it's funny

So he's given up his his rollercoaster days.

Oh You know I don't hang out when Christy vacuums,

so I haven't seen him do it lately, but I'm sure

he still does. That's funny. I meant to mention

this when we first brought it up a couple episodes

ago. I think the best part of that video that

you put on YouTube is the fact that, you know,

you start out the video and you're like, you

know, you watch him, you watch him, and the next

thing you know is Aiden comes running from off

camera, my show, my show, you turned off my show,

you bastard. Of course the kid didn't say bastard,

I'm emphasizing, but you know, I found that the

funniest part is like, holy crap. My show. Yeah,

he does that. This is like the end of the world

for him. He's seriously focused on Phineas and

Ferb at the moment. Speaking of Phineas and Ferb,

they're on right now. Oh. Hey, where's Perry?

Alright, well, I just, you know, they announced

that there was going to be new episodes tonight,

and we're recording this Friday. It probably

won't go up until Monday. But they announced

on Disney that there was gonna be a new episode

tonight and it's the episode where Mr. Fletcher

falls down one of Perry's holes and he finds

the secret thing and his memory gets erased I

Haven't seen that one. Yeah, it's a it's a it's

a brand new one. It just happened tonight at

930 Central Eastern time you should have taped

that one I don't have DVR. Well, I do I should

have taped it. Yes, you should have I like that

show. We watched the one earlier where it was

a rip -off of Back to the Future. They had the

original H .G. Wells time machine. And there

was all sorts of going back and forth in time

and time paradoxes going on. Yes. It's funny

you mention that two -part episode because I

think I... See you review that one. No I have

it in iTunes. Oh It's a good episode. I I love

that show Christy doesn't Why not I I don't I

don't know I I think the humor is a little too

highbrow for her Well, see, you know, when I

first started watching, and I know this is completely

off the topic of what this show is actually supposed

to be, but, you know, when I first started watching,

I was kind of skeptical. Because I was like,

ehh. Because I am still in the mindset of the

old Disney Channel cartoons, like Darkwing and

Donald Duck and all the... Right, cheesy 80s

fare. Well, 90s, not really 80s, but anyway.

Oh yeah, it would have been time. Well, Darkwing

was 90s. Yeah, you're right. Yeah, go ahead.

You know, so I was kind of skeptical and then

I started watching it and I got into the premise

and I'm like, oh, this is a pretty cool show.

You know, this is, yeah, I like this and I love

it. Oh, good googly moogly. Good ol' major monogram.

Yeah, just some funny, funny stuff. It's a really,

really good show. Yeah. So, Transformers, huh?

Yes, yes, yes. Toys. Oh crap. Oh boy, what are

you going to be talking about tonight? Narwhals.

What? Narwhal's narwhal swimming in the ocean.

I didn't even look at that link you sent. Causing

a commotion. I didn't even look at it. I ain't

even gonna look at it. Uh uh uh. After Badgers,

I was done looking at links from you in a weird

strange video. You have to stop singing that

song. Yes. You have to go into your ear and stay

there. No. No. I don't mind... The Tetris God

is awesome. Badgers? I don't think so. You are

a terrible name. Angry God! Even though if it

you know 15 year old TV show Well, you know That's

that's the whole beauty of podcast that you can

go back. I mean hell look look at us on tooncast

We went all the way back to the 30s and talked

about Looney Tunes right now We're in the middle

of the Hannah Barbera spotlight, which that was

the 40s and 50s so That's funny Now I'm not gonna

tell a story we're gonna get way off topic for

that one. Okay, so tell the story you already

started it Jesus no, my my brother is a He's

a music teacher starting out being a music teacher

and he conducted a high school orchestra and

you know the one he's teaching currently and

I went to see him And and watched him conduct

at one of these things And I had never actually

seen him do it before. And I was like, wow, that's

really neat. I'm not sure if I could hold my

arm up that long and kind of wave the stick,

because I'd get tired. But anyway, one of the

songs was called A Slice of Americana. And it

was literally just a whole bunch of really old

American music, if that's what you'd call it.

But my sister leaned over and said, Yeah, I think

that's Tom and Jerry. And I was just thinking

to myself, it's weird that she would mention

this, especially when we're supposed to be quiet

during this performance. But it's weird that

she would mention this when I'm thinking to myself,

this has got to be like Tom and Jerry, 1948 or

whatever. Because it's like, yeah, I've heard

most of this before in Tom and Jerry cartoons.

It was strange. So, Rhinox. Now, is this the

original Rhinox, or is this the 10th anniversary

BotCon? You know, I've got them both, but I'm

doing the original. So, I mean, they had Rhinox

in 1996, and he's, you know, he's a Rhino. He's

kind of a brick in Rhino mode, though. I mean,

he can move his legs. And that's about it. Coloring

because I'm looking at the picture on the wiki.

Yeah coloring in the cartoon is much better than

on the toy Well, I think in the cartoon, you

know, he's kind of brown. Yeah some gold highlights

at least in in Rhino mode, but in the toys More

of a tan color. Yeah, I think the Japanese version

They tried to go a little bit darker brown ended

up with more of a gray I'm looking at the BotCon

version. I don't even know if it was BotCon.

It says 10th anniversary. That version is a little

bit more brown and it's more in line with the

show. Right. I'll get into that in a second.

The BotCon one was actually, it wasn't even a

Rhino. I'm talking about the Beast Wars 10th

anniversary. The first Rhinox was tan. He was

a little bit darker tan on top and his legs were

a little bit lighter and his belly was a little

bit lighter. He had a big red eye. When he transformed,

all his insides were mostly the same color except

for his arms and his upper legs and his head

which were green and black. I don't want to say

shell -former -ish, but a goodly chunk of his

back just kind of hangs off of his hips. He's

got a lot of kibble. I mean, he's got rhino legs

hanging off of his arms. But on the inside, they

use some nice gold highlights. His chest and

his waist piece are gold. He looks good. You

can kind of see... Like in the cartoon where

his whole chest is like the lower palate of a

rhino. You can kind of see that here. He's got

teeth there. Teeth are very small. He almost

looks like a herbivore. Are rhinos herbivores?

I have no idea. I don't know. I didn't look that

up. But yeah, anyway, very small teeth. Not for

chewing meat or tearing. But anyway. Some of

the cool things about him, though, is that he

stows away all of his weapons. His tail, his

rhino tail, it's a little nub but it actually

filters back in between his back halves, comes

off and becomes a sword, more like a curved skimitar.

But his chain gun of doom stows away inside his

chest. And you can pull it out, put it in his

hand, the cartoon You can see it in the wiki

where they talk about the the chain gun of doom

but in the cartoon the gun kind of has a Circular

saw blade on the front. Mm -hmm, and the whole

thing. I think the whole thing kind of rotates

when it fires That's the saw rotates or if it's

just the bullets that rotate. No, it's then in

the cartoon It's the entire thing that rotates

the whole saw. Okay. Yeah So he's got the saw

thing that rotates and he has that here You know

with the exception. I mean that this one instead

of being a gun It's supposed to be some weird

like bolo mace weapon The idea is that the the

saw blade hooks onto the top of the gun and then

he's got these two like flails that Attach on

the top and the bottom of the saw blade and then

when you push the button on the back of The the

gun it spins the saw blade And then, well, the

flails are supposed to spin, too. Or you can

just take the flails off and call it the Chaingun

of Doom. It works the same way. But anyway, the

neat thing is, though, is the flails stow away

under his back. They kind of stay there. And

then the saw blade fits on a peg on his butt.

Well, it's more like just above his butt. maybe

his upper pelvis or something. It's on his back

there, kind of low on the back, but it stows

away. And the thing I was aggravated about earlier

was that mine seems to be missing, which aggravates

the hell out of me, because I thought I had kind

of a complete toy here, and lo and behold, I'm

missing that piece. I don't know if it's in the

shelf somewhere or in a box somewhere. I mean,

I don't know. I'm going to go to BotCon this

year, so I'll look for one there. It just bothers

me. And I'm looking at this empty nub on his

back thinking, I'm pretty sure that's where the

saw blade goes. So I went back in the closet

and pulled out the Fox Kids Rhinox. The Fox Kids

redeco came out in 99. It's the same mold, but

instead of the tan, they used more of a gray

with dark gray stripes on his back, which looks

kind of cool. The green is replaced with a burgundy.

It's a nice redeco. He looks good. Yeah, the

saw blade was on the little nub on his butt.

So that's where it's supposed to be, but it's

not there. Which, you know, rrrr, rrrr, aggravated.

Anyway. I actually have a, uh, a Transmetal Rhinox.

Really? Which one? Uh, the Transmetal Rhinox.

I believe it's what I have. I don't know. It's

whatever the hell you sent me. Oh, I think I

sent you the blue one. Yeah. Well, I'm looking

at the, like, teal colored version on the wiki

here. Yeah, see they had the There's a teal one

kind of he's when in robot mode. He's more of

a You know brown and a dark brown. Yeah, that's

That's the one that I'm looking at on the wiki

here. So That one came out in 98 99 they have

Fox kids reissue of the Transmetal Rhinox and

that one is the the blue one that you have I

don't think that one has the chrome paint. The

first one did. I don't know, I'd have to go in

the room in the box and dig it out. I like the

wiki's caption for the original 98 version. No

chain gun of doom. Lame. Nobody wants that one.

No, but he had the skis of doom, though. The

skis of doom. The skis popped out on his back

legs. It was funny. I didn't know they called

it the skis of doom until my buddy was like,

look, it's the skis of doom. Are you kidding

me? But no, they were the skis of doom because

he didn't have the chaingun of doom. On the other

hand, the Transmetal version has a much bigger

horn. Right as you know size matters So anyway

back to Rhinox, you know, he's got He's got that

split mutant head thing. So he's got a mutant

face That's kind of mean looking and then that

splits open and you can see his cartoon Well

the cartoon version of his face the side. Oh

Really? Cuz they don't even show that in the

wiki they just show the the the white tooth grinning

mutant head Oh no, they show it, just to the

left there. You can see how the mutant pieces

split open. Right, they show how it splits open

in the wiki picture, but they don't show it actually.

They show the main head they show is the one

that... No, he's got a weird cheesy grin inside

the mask too. Oh jeez, that's not... It's not

a cheesy grin, it's more of a grrrr, you know?

Yeah, that's not so accurate at all. He's blowing

up Rhinox with a chain gun, or a Waspinator with

a chain gun. Take that, Waspinator! That's not

so accurate at all. Well, that's what you get.

The thing, though, is his face looks kind of

like Rhinox, with the exception of he doesn't

have the gold highlights. His chin and the crest,

across his eyes, on top of his head, they're

not gold. Like like you would like well like

you'd find in the cartoon But for the 10th anniversary

version they did paint his face with the gold

highlights Yes, I see that. Yes. I mean his chest

is still gold and you know his What would you

call that a loincloth? Yeah, it's crotch piece.

It's crotch piece. Yeah, it's still gold but

you know, they took the extra time to go ahead

and paint his his crest and his chin. The other

cool thing about the 10th anniversary is that

his eye isn't just a red eye, he's actually got

a little eyeball painted on there. Which is neat.

It's a little more show accurate. And they actually

took the time to paint his legs. I still have

my 10th anniversary in the box, I haven't opened

it. I mean, I got the original, so I... Why does

that not surprise me? I've got them all up there.

It's like, collect them all, each one comes with

a little piece of transmutate, and then you can

put transmutate together. I honestly didn't like

the transmutate character, I could care less.

No, transmutate sucked. I know! By the way, a

lot of people liked him, I guess, because they

made a figure out of him. but you had to get

all the 10th anniversary pieces to do it. Yeah,

that's kind of like what DC Universe is doing

with their 11th wave of figures. You collect

them all, and in each one you get a piece of

Kilolog, and you can put Kilolog together. They've

been doing that with Star Wars figures to build

the droid sets for a while. And the droids that

you build end up being really, really cool. Like,

HK47 from the Knights of the Old Republic video

games. Right. He's got a really, really nice

build -a -figure. It's really cool. And if you

play the games, he's... which I don't think you

have, but he's a really interesting character.

He's one of those robots that kind of hate people,

and he calls everybody a feedback. He's kind

of like Bender. He's like, if Bender were an

assassin droid, that's what HK -47 would be like.

He's like, all you meatbags can just die. Oh,

except for you, master. I like you. It's funny,

funny stuff. Well written. I mean, well, yeah.

Good video games nowadays are well written. They

have good story with good dialogue and things

like that. But yeah, build the figure sets. Take

it or leave it. I left them all in the package.

I didn't really care for transmutate. And again,

I got the original. The one I don't have that

now that I'm looking at online looks really cool

is the Japanese version. Yeah. Where, I mean,

he's kind of like really dark gray with almost

like a reddish brown accent on the sides with

like a big black eye. I mean, not so accurate

at all, but he looks cool. Yeah, no. Well, I'm

not gonna go hunt him down or anything, but,

you know, I dig it. Yeah, no. Yeah, I like it,

and, you know, I suppose it could be more so

accurate if you were to take off the waist kibble

and the giant rhino legs on his shoulders. Yeah.

And the sides of his beast mask, his crazy monster

mask. Then he'd probably look pretty close to

the show. Yeah. I could see that. Well, so is

that all for Rhinox? I think so, yeah. I dig

the figure. He's not one of my favorites from

the Peace Force line, but he's one of the core

characters. So if you're going to have Beast

Force characters, this would be one and a half.

Well, seeing as how this is episode 45 and we

are five episodes away from episode 50, I am

going to be doing a spotlight on robot heroes.

Since these things come in a two pack and they're

generally, if you stack them on top of each other,

they're about the same size as a... Very small

deluxe figure I'm going to be talking about two

little ones or two per package per episode between

now and episode 50 And I'm going to start with

Rhinox and Waspinator. I'm actually going to

start with Waspinator Who the hell decides to

put these things in two packs? I'd like to know

because I mean, while I get the, you know, now

that I'm thinking about it, getting the joke

about, you know, Rhinox blowing away Waspinator

with the Gatling gun of doom, I just don't think

that Waspinator is a good package mate for Rhinox.

But that's just me. So, Waspinator, he's not

show accurate whatsoever. I think he's more toy

accurate. i'd have to look at his toys but uh...

i'd have to look at his toys online here but

uh... he is absolutely my least favorite out

of all of the there's the uh... the link to the

image of of the two but uh... he is my least

favorite out of all the robot heroes i have At

first I thought his wings were going to be be

able to move up and down they don't they're stationary

and whilst later himself is actually on one of

those like stands it actually looks like It actually

looks like they stuck the stand up in his ass

pretty much because it I'm not sure what you

mean by it not being you know show accurate so

much because It's the wrong color green. It's

he's darker green in the show This is the this

green on him is too light Hell, I'll show you

No, I see what you mean as far as the wrong color.

I have one in front of me. I own one. I'm looking

at him. I see what you're saying as far as not

being the right color, but I'm also looking at

the cartoon model. And he looks... Too much of

a light green to me. It's not anything close

to the cartoon. I don't know. I mean, I'm looking

at the cartoon model. And, you know, he's got

the beast mode face. Well, the monster face.

Because the actual figure, just like Rhinox,

the monster face splits open and there's a robot

head inside. It doesn't look anything like the

cartoon version but for some reason the cartoon

version kept the monster face so he's got the

big buggy eyes and the mandibles and the you

know the antenna The the figure and the cartoon

model have the You know the knees they kind of

look like claws, right? Yeah, you know he's got

a lot of the features that that the toy and the

cartoon had uh... the uh... the toy I don't have

one in front of me right now uh... I have one

but Chrissy bought me one minton package I'm

looking at the wiki vision I don't have it I

don't have it in front of me but no I mean it

looks like he's got all the stuff from the from

the toy and all the stuff from the from the model.

I think the model from the cartoon, I don't think

has such a prominent stinger on his butt. That

might be Toy Kibble. I think the best, maybe

not. Well, it's more of his lost mode that looks

better, but I was trying to find an image of

the Beast Wars toy that wasn't a Japanese version.

And the closest thing I came to was the 10th

anniversary figure, but... No, he just doesn't...

I'll have to compare him to a screencap of Waspinator

from the show. Again, for me it goes to cartoon

accuracy and I just don't think that this is

cartoon accurate at all. Like I said, the green

is way too light. I don't know whatever lost

my throwaway character for the robot heroes But

his package mate Rhinox is probably the most

show accurate toy that Rhinox has ever had I

think He looks good because the Brown is right

like I was saying to you earlier the Brown on

the both the The regular the original Beast Wars

figure and the 10th anniversary figure while

the 10th anniversary figure is somewhat there

compared to the show the robot heroes version

is right on and they actually get the real head

mold for this time and I really really really

enjoy him he has well he doesn't have a chain

gun of doom he does have like a fist of doom

because he has this like on his right arm he's

it's like one big giant thing and he can just

like pound it down on people like he's putting

a smack down on somebody I don't know Uh, one

thing I do notice about this one... Take a drink.

Daydream, what? Take a drink. Oh, shut up. Lancer

doesn't know. Shut up! Uh... The gold outline

that you were mentioning earlier, they did put

that in this on his face as well. Yeah. They

gave him the pearl necklace. Well, those are

his teeth. Herbivore. Whatever, I don't know.

Shut up. They also gave him his gold crotch piece

as well. It did! Well, you can kind of see it

in the in -a -wiki, but because his hand is like

in the way, it's like, yeah, his left hand, or

his right hand is this giant fist of doom, his

left hand looks like he's gonna start playing

with himself. Because it's so close to his knee.

You put it down. Well, yeah. I was about to say,

he can't actually stand up, can he? Oh, he can.

No, but I mean, right from the package, it looks

like he's crouching. Well, he's... Squatting

is an action pose, apparently. Yeah, it's his

action pose, but I mean, as far as stand -up

ability, as far as the way he's posed, yeah,

shit, all the other ones go falling down. Fucking

hound's always fucking drunk. But yeah, no, I

mean he's not actually standing up they do have

him in some sort of action pose, but pooping

in the woods And that look on his face. That's

cuz he doesn't have a toilet paper He's like

oh He's got a weird look on his face doesn't

he he's not really smiling. He's kind of Is that

dull surprise? Yeah, I would say it's... Poor

Lauren on happiness due to lack of TP. Why the

hell do you have to bring that up because now

I'm thinking of nothing but those fucking Bear

Charmin commercials. Goddamnit. Rhinox all hunkered

down, he's got toilet paper stuck to his ass.

I've killed Blanchard. So anyway, uh... robot

heroes rhinox he's very cool to have. I'm actually

you know I didn't get I know unfortunately robot

heroes is no more I didn't really get into them

when they first came out but these things are

pretty damn cool. They are neat you know I didn't

think I'd want any of them and I ended up getting

like one or two in a eBay lot and then I wanted

them all. Yeah, I mean, you know, again, they're

good characteristics of whatever character you're

wanting, like say Hound or Blitzwing or Ironhide

or Kickback or is that? Yeah. I mean, they're

cute and they're small and it's a nice, you know,

combination of the cartoon version and the toy

version. Yes. Kind of takes their cue from both.

Yes. What? I like I mean they had a couple of

years back they had I Think they call them heroes

of Cybertron. Yeah Where you know, they were

roughly the same size, but they weren't you know,

kind of super deformed and cute It was more like

just small action figures Right. Yeah. Yeah,

those were nice but I mean these are just I think

the cute factors cranked up and you know, it's

just I like these better. I mean all of my heroes

of Cybertron are sitting you know in a box in

the closet Whereas these are on my shelf I'm

half tempted to you know take some to work and

put them on my desk because they're just so damn

cute I Dig them. I'm actually kind of aggravated

that it's a defunct line at this well. I don't

know if they're defunct I mean no, it's Hasbro

said last year. I read about it Hasbro said last

year this year or whatever that Robot heroes

is dead. Ah, that's a shame because you know,

they've got like a million Star Wars ones Yeah,

they've got ships for them and start on the Star

Wars line They're still making GI Joe. Yeah GI

Joe And I called robot heroes, but they're called

like action heroes or many minutes or whatever

Yeah, Joe heroes or something. I mean they got

a different name. Yeah, but Yeah, I mean I I

like these I would have liked to have seen them,

you know, do the logical repaints. I mean, because

they've got, uh, you know, a rumble but no frenzy.

And they've got a thrust, but no dirge and ramjet.

No, there is rum, there is frenzy. Or maybe there's

a frenzy but no rumble. Yeah, well, I don't know

who's right or who's wrong, but, um, no, seriously.

Red, frenzy is blue? Well, no, the thing is,

though. On the on the packaging for that it says

generation one RC and Frenzy, but let me look

it up here on the wiki for a second on the wiki.

I think it said I think it said that she was

it was red rumble is what it said which was kind

of Kind of stupid, but let me see if I can um

I'm looking for it Like you know I know that

they released like a like a five -pack and there

was like a You know a metallic optimus and a

mirage that was see -through and they're there

I want to say what like a like a red bumblebee

that was supposed to be cliff jumper right exactly

but uh you know there was there was a few in

there that i wouldn't mind having now see wiki's

the the tf wiki says under rc robot heroes rc

versus rumble part of the second wave of universe

robot heroes rc is packaged with rumble as part

of the generation one series she is sculpted

running across a patch of mechanical flooring

and she has articulation at the hedge and shoulders

well The problem with that is that the package

that RC comes in with Rumble, it says on there,

specifically states on the packaging, that it's

frenzy. So who's right? Hasbro's packaging people

or the TFWiki? The biased people over at TFWiki.

Well, no, I mean, I'm not saying they're biased,

but I'm just asking who is supposed to be right

here because, you know, it's just... Kind of

weird that they're I've actually looked up rumble

now to see To see what it says under under that

as well. Hopefully it will show. Yeah, here we

go Let's see robot heroes rebels a soft plastic

figurine sculpted super deformed style with his

pile drivers deployed He had a swivel joints

and his shoulders and neck Then came in a two

-pack with RC, and the caption here is red again.

I think there's a pattern evolving here It's

the caption on the picture, and it's like oh

Yeah, yeah, well I'm I might have to I might

have to email Brian Kilby over at RFC to do Stump

Monzo because it's like holy crap you have oh

you have a tf what'd you say? wait what'd you

say? like in scanners oh wow old michael ironsides

movie oh yes that was probably before i was born

but anyway before i was born i think the guy's

head explodes i mean how cool is that? but it's

like you know the packaging clearly states that

it says rc and frenzy And then the wiki says

that it's Rumble. I don't know. I'm going to

look up Frenzy and see if it lists anything.

I don't think it will, but... All I know is I've

got three Insecticons, which look badass next

to each other and are all in a little row, but

I've only got two Dinobots. So, I mean, I'd like

to see my Dinobots rounded out a little bit before

they, well, a little late now, but before they

close out the line. Wait, you have two Dinobots?

I've got, uh... Slag and Grimlock. Oh, okay.

For a second there, I thought you meant... Dinobot,

as in... Beast Wars Dinobot. Oh, no, I don't

think they made a Dinobot. That would've ruled.

Why didn't they make a Dinobot? I don't know.

Oh, well. Oh, well. That's a shame. Yeah, because,

uh... You know, it aggravates me, though, is

it? Well, yeah, aggravated is a relative term,

but, uh... They've got movie -verse robot heroes.

I hate those. I know, and they're ugly as hell.

It's like, well, why do they make those when

they could have been making cool stuff like a

thrust and a dirge and maybe a snarl and a sludge?

Yeah. Or anything. What do you think of the latest

stuff for War for Cybertron? I watched the video

of the gameplay. I'm not entirely sure how much

of that is gameplay and how much is cutscene.

Now there's a big difference between the teaser

trailer they gave us and this. I know, I know.

I mean, I don't know exactly how much of it is

gameplay either, but like where Optimus transforms,

that has to be gameplay. That looks awesome.

Well, I'm just wondering. Some of the scenes

clearly show you're a robot. And you get an over

-the -shoulder view. So you're actually watching

the robot run. It's not a first -person. Right,

it's a third -person shooter. Well, yeah, OK.

Let's go with that, third -person chase camera.

So you're seeing him from behind. And you can

turn the camera view so you can see. You still

see yourself, but you can see what's off to the

side. And that's well and good. But there was

a lot of stuff going on there that wasn't chase

camera. And it makes me wonder that, you know,

maybe there's, I don't know, finishing moves

where you attack somebody and the camera automatically

rotates around them for you so that you can better

see yourself smashing the hell out of somebody

until they die. Like the one scene where I think

it was Optimus grabbed a hold of somebody and

just slammed them. Just completely slammed him

into the ground. But the thing for me was the

camera wasn't behind him. You were looking...

Head -on directly at him as he was slamming So

it's like wow does the camera rotate around or

do you have to do that on yourself by yourself?

Or you know I wasn't entirely sure I ended up

with more questions and answers I Just and we

were talking about this a few days ago Just put

out a blog post comparing the gear the Gears

of War gameplay to what I think might be the

gameplay Gun down a bunch of enemies and then

turn a corner and just as you hit that particular

spot on the playing map You lose control The

view pans up pans around gives you a good you

know 360 degree view of where you're at and shows

you the city and you know, there's a there's

a really nice scene where you're You have to

infiltrate a museum great big huge structure

and you know you actually you know while you're

fighting you may not get a chance to look around

but once you hit that point on the map it stops

the action you look up you look around you get

a grand view and then it comes back down to your

point of view and then the action begins again

I mean it's it's fluid it's seamless but you

still get these cutscenes every so often Yeah,

you know I don't know if I'm really minded. I'm

just glad that they're actually doing so you

know I almost wish that I know this probably

isn't the case, but I almost wish that they would

Make the new cartoon based off this game Because

this would be epic. I think I said the same thing

a ways back when malunas was complaining about

you know people are bitching and whining about

the new cartoon they don't know what it's about

and yeah, it's like you know maybe And this was

a few weeks back, I forget exactly when, but

I said maybe the new cartoon is the video game.

Or maybe this video game is just a buttload of

spoilers. We don't know. It would be very, very

cool if they did a pre -earth cartoon. But a

couple problems with that is, number one, they've

got power core combiners, which have nothing

to do with War for Cybertron, and maybe part

of the cartoon, we don't know. And two, War for

Cybertron has no humans. And we also know that

they're not going to make a cartoon without humans

in it. Yeah, it sucks. Yeah. So as cool as it

would be to see a War for Cybertron cartoon that

was just more, it'd have to be tailored more

toward adults, really, to be Gears of War -like.

I mean, if you saw the blog post I put out had

a clip. embedded for the Gears of War gameplay.

And if you double -clicked on it, went to the

YouTube page, and then boosted that up to high

res, it's gorgeous. It's just a really, really

freaking cool looking game. And you've just gunned

down tons and tons of bad guys. And there's just

blood. And you get too close to one, you whip

out the chainsaw, and just saw them in half.

Yeah, and it's and just blood splashes across

the screen. It's it's it's awesome but You know

you can't put that in a cartoon for kids you

can't put that in a cartoon and market it for

kids I'll put it that way and in the next year.

There's as far as we know There's only two war

for cyborgon toys Optimus and Bumblebee right

So I don't I don't know I'd still like to see

some I would like to see like 10 minutes of just

gameplay I'd like to see a developer say okay.

This is what we were going for you know here's

you know look around you can see all the stuff

we put together and and Here we're gonna attack

a few enemies, and this is your special features

and your signature moves And and this is you

know the goal and blah blah blah well there was

another There was another video put out really

I saw the teaser and I saw a little bit of that

gameplay, but that's all I've seen. Right, the

other one is a talk with, I know I'm going to

get his name wrong, one of the game developers,

Insider, Inside Gaming Plus, interview with Matt

Tegger of High Moon Studios. And it's just a

video where it's showing the footage in the background

and him talking. About how they were able to

pull the game off and you know What what does

it take to make a transformers game on? Cybertron

and and stuff like that there Here's the link

I think well wait no, that's not the link damn

it stupid thing Copy Just having such a hard

time shut up There there's the link to that but

Yeah, you know I can't wait for war for Cybertron.

It looks awesome As far as the robot heroes go

they are very very cool I think that there is

one that is the best out of them all and I will

probably save that one or that two -pack until

episode 50 But the rest of them, they are very,

very cool. I do want to get more of them. Find

them, obviously. I'd like to get Soundwave. I

don't know. Yeah, me too. Oh, take a drink. Mike,

there's one. Yeah. I'd like some of the ones

that were, I don't want to say cancelled, but

like they have a Tigertron and Inferno from Beast

Wars. Right. And they've got a Ricochet and Predaking

from G1. And those were released, I want to say,

in Europe. And I want to say Australia, maybe

Europe. And I would love to get some of those.

They're probably sitting on a shelf in a big

lot in Germany. And I would so dig to have those.

I don't think I'm ever going to. I mean, a Predaking.

A tiny, super -deformed Predaking. Who wouldn't

want that? That is awesome. Well there's always

a chance I'll make a money mug out of him. Oh

god, it's killing me. Come on. Jeez. I might

have to buy it if they did. I would hate myself,

but you know. I'd hate myself, but I think I'd

have to buy one. But yeah, um. And then the ones

that were cancelled, Alaphanous Prime and Megatron

from Robots in Disguise, which I could probably

pass. Victory Saber and Deathsaurus from the

Japanese series. I'd probably pass on that one

too. Optimus Primal and Jetstorm from Beast Machines,

which would have been kind of nice. That would

have been cool. I don't think I've ever even

seen pictures of this one, but that would have

been cool. I mean, I really like the Jetstorm

character. And then the last one was Prowl and

Laserbeak from G1, which would have been really

cool. And you know, Prowl is one of those that

lends himself well to repaints. Right. They could

have got a smoke screen out of that or something

else. And Laserbeak, you know, could have easily

been a buzzsaw. Yeah. But yeah, I'm looking at,

you know, my little tiny ravage here and I'm

thinking shattered glass ravage in blue and white

would kick ass. Yeah, not that they would do

shattered glass repaints out of these but Yeah,

it was still you know I think I think one of

the main things about these at least out of all

the ones that I have is they were going for I

mean I've got oh oops Damn, you know what I actually

have 12 Robot heroes actually 13. I told you

10 earlier. I forgot for those of us who were

keeping count. Oh, I didn't Because I was trying

to figure out how I was gonna do the next five

episodes of the show with, you know, doing a

robot hero spotlight. Well, I forgot I have,

um... Crap. Primal and Tarantulas and Megatron

and Silverbolt still on the shelf. So I actually

have 14 of them. Jesus Christ. Because I've done

all the other ones like right here on my desk

where I normally would put like a Mighty Mug

or something like that. Because I was wanting

to look at all the characters as we as I talked

about Rhinox and Waspinator to decide whether

I like these two the best or whether it's one

of the other ones that I like better than these

two and like I said Waspinator has easily Is

is the worst out of all 14 that I have But yeah,

I dig him I don't I mean, he looks like Jose

Jalapeno on a stick, for Christ's sake. Jeff

Dunham fans will know what that is. Yeah, on

a stick. On a stick! I dig it. I think he looks

good. Yeah, so now you sent me the link to the

list of the entire Robot Heroes line, and I'm

looking at it and thinking, okay, which ones

don't I have? Yeah. I don't know if I want more

than one Optimus Prime, because they put Optimus,

they put G1 Optimus, I think, in two packs. They

put him in with Ravage, and then they also put

him in with Unicron, which apparently he has

a Matrix with him in that. Yeah. So I may want

that one, but I don't know if I want more than

one Optimus Prime. See, they have that, and they

have, in the five pack, they have the metal version.

Yeah, I don't care. That's movie crap. I don't.

No, no. It was a G1 five pack. Was it really?

Yeah, I was telling you about it earlier. It

had Hologram Mirage. Oh, right. Which was Cliffjumper.

It had the metal finish Optimus Prime, the metal

finish Megatron, and there was a Starscream repaint

for Skywarp. Oh, okay. I don't have that one.

I mean, they have a buttload of these five packs

for the movie stuff, but I'm... Just not that

interested. No the movie ones suck now. They're

releasing images robot modes and I Just have

no interest in those. I mean I like the I Like

the g1 ones a lot. I like the b -sports ones.

I've got a couple of the of the Movie line, but

just because they came in a lot Yeah, the movie

ones suck. I'm sorry if you took If you took

the G1 version of Ravage and put him up against

the movie version of Robot Heroes Ravage, the

G1 version wins hands down because the movie

version looks like Devastator just shit him out

of his ass because the color of the movie Ravage

is shit brown. It is my first I remember this

was back when we were first getting leaked images

of what ravage would look like yeah, and you

know Megatron looks like Somebody crumpled up

tinfoil and rearranged it into something vaguely,

you know bipedal And then ravage looked like

somebody took tinfoil Crinkle it all up and then

unraveled it and something looked vaguely, you

know feline with a one big eye in the front and

And my response was, you know, this is what you

get when Megatron unzips his pants. And I remember

Derek Wyatt responded, so I didn't need that

in my head. I mean, that was my first thought,

was we got this great big, you know, crinkled

up piece of tin foil with one big eye in the

front. And, you know, probably roughly about

that size, you know. But if you were to put him

in Megatron's trousers. But, uh, I just didn't

like it. I still don't like it. But the fact

that, you know, it's, uh, it's Ravage. Yeah,

but it doesn't really matter because, like I

said, I love the G1 version of it. But the Robot

Heroes version, it just, no. Oh, the Robot Heroes

Ravage? Ravage? Yeah, it's Robot Heroes Movie

Ravage. Oh, yeah, no, I can't get behind that.

No, well that's what I'm saying. I'm not complaining

about G1 Ravage. Hell no, he's the cutest thing

around. But, you know, the... He's the cutest

thing around. Kawaii! Shut up. Here, that's the

image link to where Movie Robot Heroes Ravage

and Jolt are. But it's like holy crap. He looks

like he is shit brown. Oh Yeah, he's kind of

a weird color. He's fugly I don't like it. Does

he have a great big blue eye and a red tongue?

He has a purple eye and a red tongue. Yes, you

are correct sir. Somebody's going to hell for

that one Just straight to okay. Oh, I got all

spark bumblebee and Starscream that's different

and I've got battle jazz and Megatron yeah and

those oh well and those are the and those are

the the movie line ones that I have and while

we're talking about ravage I I'm looking through

the movie ravage toys and I so did not mean to

steal the fact of the recon ravage So did not

mean to rip it off your blog post that we haven't

had it the mail away in over 25 years I just

read the blog post at the time and then in one

of the last other episodes I just kind of mentioned

it without even thinking about oh, yeah, we haven't

had this in over 25 years or whatever it was

This is brilliant original thinking You know,

it's funny too because when I posted that blog

post You know people were responding and I forget

his Adam Paulus from over at Entertainment Earth

responded and said whoa what about You know,

what about the the GI Joe exclusives that we've

had and the Star Wars exclusives that we've had

recently that were all mailaways and they've

had three or four of them and You know, that's

yeah, I understand but I'm pretty sure that in

my blog post and I reread it just to make sure

so I know it does but I'm pretty sure the blog

post said Transformers. We haven't had any Transformers

mailaways since, what, 86? Yeah. Yeah. So it's

been a really long time. And I dig the idea.

I think they could have simplified it a lot by

putting the online ordering online or something.

Did it have to be print your name here, mail

it in with a check? I mean, they could have easily

done it through PayPal. Right. Well, you know,

I don't think... No, I don't know. That's what

I'm saying. I'm not sure why they didn't go that

route. They outsourced it. They have a different

company doing it. It's not Hasbro. But what kills

me, and I don't know if I mentioned this in the

blog post, I may have, but you can get the same

toy with the stickers right now in Canada. Oh,

really? Yeah, they released it already. They

haven't even shipped them out in the U .S. yet,

and the Canadian version's on the shelf right

now. If I knew somebody in Canada, they could

get me one at Toys R Us and send it to me for,

you know, maybe... Oh, what is it? I think it's

something like Canadian dollars are worth like

80 % or something like that of U .S. dollars,

so... You know when you include shipping I would

literally be paying about as much as the Canadian

guy paid for it So I mean it's not that bad of

a deal. Okay, the internet is failing me now

Why? Because I'm trying to find a picture of

in package of RC and Frenzy and They're all telling

me that it's RC versus rumble When my package,

I remember the packages I saw in big lots and

the package I bought from Kmart said frenzy on

it. Are you sure? I'm positive. I think I know

the difference between an F and an R at the beginning

of an A. I have a huge box of packaging under

my desk and I thought maybe I'd just kind of

hunker down and look to see if I could see it.

No, I'm not going to be able to find the packaging.

I keep the card backs for everything that I open.

And then for the bigger stuff, like the boxes,

I actually fold them flat. And I put it all in

this pile. I hope you don't do that with Generation

1 boxes, you bastard. What do you mean? Generation

1 boxes. Unfold them? I hope you don't fold those

flat. Why not? Uh, the foil! I don't think I've

had any problems with those. I've only got a

couple of older boxes that I've unfolded. No,

they're fine. There's no problem with the foil.

In fact, I think the only ones that I keep folded

up are the ones that I have the Styrofoam for.

So like my Megatron, I've got a Soundwave, I've

got a Shockwave, they've all got Styrofoam. so

i keep those in the box but anything that i don't

have the uh... seraphone for the answer you know

i'd just full of flat they're box yeah yeah i'm

wishing i save this damn packaging now cuz i

didn't at the time and it's pissing me off that

every single one is Every single picture I'm

finding is telling me that it's RC versus Decepticon

Rumble, which I know it's fucking not. That's

not what the fucking package said. Are you like

one of those little kids that tears their packaging

up and throws it away? Well, depending on the

toy, yes. Oh god! animated toys, they're so freaking

hard to get out of the packaging for me anyway,

and it's like holy crap I don't want this anymore

because I tore it to shreds. You know what works

for that? I know. Yes. Snickety snicked. This

is the satisfying locking sound of my blade as

it snicks back into place. Like that. I dig it.

I've got this really nice, really nice knife

that, you know, I could easily kill people with

if confronted on the street. But what do I do

with it? I open up Transformers with it. That's

almost all I do is open up Transformers with

this thing. I love it, and it's nice because

I can do it with one hand. Just kind of shnick

-nishnicked. And then put it back in. You know,

while I'm waiting for video games to load, I

just put this in and out all night. You know

the bad part about all this crap is I'm sitting

here searching for this image to try to, you

know, validate myself, and I'm thinking, holy

crap, I have two more that aren't on the desk

with me along with the other four, which is the

RC and the fucking frenzy, because I already

talked about them on Toycast, I believe. So I

actually have 16 robot heroes and not 14. These

things keep fucking adding up. It's not fucking

right. They're like rabbits! Yeah, it's... It's

right in your head. uh... uh... uh... uh... it's

like multiplying what the hell where do they

come from yes where do they come from but yeah

every single packaging i'm looking at here for

the june one versions uh... it's just telling

me that it's decepticon rumble which i know that

is not what it said on the packaging at biglots

now could that mean that on the packaging at

biglots that it's a rip -off or a No, I'm being

serious because it's like, holy crap, it's not.

Let's do this. Let's do this. Here it is. I have

in front of me Optimus Primal and Predacon Tarantulas

in the package. On the back of the box, you have

Autobot Hound and Blitzwing, Optimus Primal and

Predacon Tarantulas, Rhinox and Waspinator, and...

RC and decepticon rumble that's wrong Why don't

you talk to yourself? I'm gonna mute myself talk

to yourself for a second cuz I'm gonna go get

my packaging and see what it says I'll be right

back. You already gotta be kidding me Okay, so

here I am by myself and he's not gonna go back

and edit this after the fact because he doesn't

edit Anyway, yeah, so the robot heroes line I

dig them I would buy them all if I could find

them. I'm actually missing a few When I picked

up most of these I got them in an eBay lot And

I got like 20 of them or something for like 10

bucks It was ridiculous, but whoever I bought

them from kept the ones that he really really

liked So he kept optimus prime and he kept erotimus

prime. I'm not sure if it's prime or not He kept

unicorn and he kept soundwave so now you know

they sell these damn things in two packs so it's

like if I wanted each one I'd have to you know

buy a two pack and then I end up with you know

two of whichever character these guys come with

so I don't really want to do that but again this

gives me something to look for while I'm at BotCon

I'm gonna go to Florida and do the BotCon thing.

That'll be exciting. And, you know, of course...

I can't fucking find it. I ain't fucking doing

it. I'll get it for next time. You're totally

interrupting my diatribe here, man. Yeah, it's

BotCon in Florida. Yeah. I'm sorry you can't

find your package. You probably ripped it into

tiny pieces and threw it away. No, I didn't,

because I'm sure after I opened them that I taped

them back up. Oh, you do? Really? You keep the

plastic? Yeah. I don't keep the plastic. I just

keep the cardboard backing and throw it on the

pile. Well, I kept the plastic because on the

plastic front, it has the little images of what

it says on there, who's in the 2 -pack. Yeah,

yeah. I can't find the fucking packaging. That's

gonna drive me nuts. I put it somewhere. I already

hear that. Oh, you're not, shut the hell up.

I could give a Rats ass. Hey, Mike, here's my

Rats ass. Oh, no, wait, you can't have my Rats

ass, because I don't give a Rats ass. But, uh...

No, it's, uh... Um... Yeah. I lost my train of

thought. Anyway. BotCon or the... Oh, yeah, well,

I'm gonna... Again, as I was saying before, I'm

gonna go to BotCon. Gonna look for these last

four guys that I don't have, you know, I'll probably

pay 50 bucks for one of them You know two packs

from Singapore You know so I can get a Predaking

that Nobody else really cares about God I'm such

a sad sad little man Yeah, anyway, so that's

um That's it for me. Are we still recording?

Yes, we are still recording Actually now that

I think about it I may have taken a picture of

the packaging You know oh wait no that was RC

and rum I was RC and friend I'm still gonna say

it's fucking frenzy because it is that's what

it said in the pack That was the other ones.

It wasn't frenzy. It was the other it was the

newer ones that are on them anyway Yeah, so let's

let's close this train wreck. We gotta like trim

a good 20 minutes of this in post or something

Oh, no, I don't I don't turn anything in post

No, no, no, but anyway, yeah, it takes a little

while to really, you know bother me because I'm

a laid -back kind of guy. I know Yeah Anyway,

so hey a lot of fun tonight Yeah, it's fun. See,

that's the whole thing about having these spontaneity

kind of things happen. It's fun. And it's not

like, oh, this is Transformers. Oh, we're talking

like this all the time. We sound like Charlie

Brown adults. No, we ain't doing that shit on

this show. It ain't sounding like some nasally

dumbass thing. It's spontaneous and the host

wanders away to find - Hey, at least I muted

myself this time around. And you didn't hear

me off mic saying, holy, you know, just a whole

bunch of other things that doesn't need to be,

you know, heard. You've gotten much better at

that, actually. Yes. Well, now that I've found

the thing in this friggin' Skype window is where

I have to mute the microphone. Ah, sweet. Yeah.

Yeah, but anyway. So the next time, unless we
