ToyCast
Year-End Wrap-Up with Toy Picks and Listener Voicemails

About this Episode
Cliffjumper, commence countdown! Five, four,
three, two, one! And welcome to the 25th episode
of Transformers Toycast brought to you by the
GeekCast Radio Network. I am TFD1Mike, your host,
and I am joined by PeekoncourtMichael. Hello.
Hey, how's it going? It's going. How are you?
Doing well. Yeah? Yeah, I'd say so. Yeah. I mean,
I could complain, but I'm not gonna. Yeah, it
won't help. Yeah. No one's gonna listen to me
complain. uh... where you've been up to i think
the last episode we had you on was twenty two
twenty three uh... i don't remember uh... sadly
my life has become consumed by a video game called
Borderlands yes i'd play it all the time and
when i'm not playing it i'm thinking about playing
it oh god i know it's kinda sad oh jeez it's
a great game though i'm really diggin it Did
you see the um Malunas sent me a tweet with a
link and just he just wrote after it hmm The
link went to a story about Zynga and Mafia Wars
and the fact that they're scamming people or
doing something to scam people I don't know Did
you happen to see that at all? I've heard about
it I play Mafia Wars a lot on Facebook. Yeah,
I I don't really know anything about the story
itself. I think what had happened is Zynga had,
not Mafia Wars, but had a different game called
Pottery Barn or something like that, or something
weird. And one of the things they were doing
was sending links to people for third party vendors.
Right. And people were saying, hey, wait a minute,
I'm playing this free game, and I'm trying to
have fun here, and you're sending me spam that
I can't run away from. Yeah, that's basically
what the story is. Yes. I don't know. I mean,
honestly, it's their game. It's kind of like
Twitter. I'm on Twitter. I really like Twitter.
If every hundredth tweet was an ad, would I complain?
Eh, probably a little bit. But would I ignore
it? Yeah, just ignore it and keep using Twitter.
Yeah. Yeah, I read the article and I watched
the little video that the link had gone to, and
I'm like, okay. Apparently the gist of it that
I can get is what you just said, but also they
were trying to generate revenue. First of all,
how the hell do you generate revenue from a free
game on Facebook? Outside of the fact that they
can charge you for the rewards points, which
that's a choice that people would make when they
want to buy it. So how the hell are they going
to create revenue for something that's free?
Well, there's two ways they could do it. They
could put ads on their space, which I think to
a certain extent Facebook won't allow them to
do. Because Facebook has ads on their own. part
of the page. Right. And that content portion
that the games lives on is supposedly ad free.
Right. So I mean they can put ads that will link
to themselves and say hey look at this new feature
we have click here you know but they can't say
hey buy this something or another. Amazon's got
a deal for you click over here. But I think there's
some type of rule with with the Facebook that
won't allow them to do that but I Don't know
how they got around it for the other deal, but
they you know they've they've agreed not to do
it now from what I've read yeah Well, that's
good. I guess um Let's see I was him now. They're
being very cool about it. Yeah, I don't think
they want to lose any users exactly I was in
Rite Aid the other day and My mom had to drop
off a prescription I was like, all right, well,
I'll just, do you need anything? I'm like, I
don't know, I'll just come in and look around.
So, go in, and I look around, and of course,
I've been in this Rite Aid before, and the majority
of what they have in there is either, you know,
like medical supplies, or shampoo, it's, you
know, or holiday stuff, and then they have like
two whole aisles dedicated to nothing but alcohol
and liquor. Sweet. They have a very miniscule
toy aisle that's on the other like when you go
down the aisle left hand right hand side left
hand side with some toys and then the right hand
side was like diapers and a whole bunch of you
know baby stuff So I looked to the left and I'm
just kind of looking and I see some like Power
Rangers Action figures and some spider -man stuff
and all of a sudden I see some transformers universe
stuff. I see two deluxes. I saw tank or and prowl
To the left of that at the very end of the aisle
There was some revenge of the fallen. I don't
know if they were they were very very small I'm
not sure if it was a legends class or what it
was. It wasn't deluxe is I know it was not deluxe
is So I'm assuming it was legends But right -aid
wanted 17 like 1699 1799 for these universe deluxes
for the prowl and the tank or I'm like well Maybe
if I had the money, but I didn't have Mike's
and bring my money with me at the time, but I'm
like wait I'm probably could have gotten those
at Walmart when they were still at Walmart or
target for like 10 or 12 bucks I'm like I'm like
why okay? First of all drugstores as we all know
are expensive On anything it doesn't matter what
it is. They're expensive. I mean that they'll
charge you You know a dollar 49 for a 20 ounce
bottle of pop You know I mean, that's just the
way that they run But I'm looking at it looking
I'm like oh my god Why? But I just found it very
weird that I found Transformers figures even
just deluxe class stuff and the older ones yeah,
yeah I mean, you know, it's a Rite Aid and whatever.
I mean, it's a drugstore. Honestly, I wasn't
really expecting to find actual, like, you know,
toys that I would, you know, buy. Because, like,
when you go into, like, the dollar store and
stuff like that, it's all, like, kiddie toys
and stuff. You know, I mean, it's not like, you
know, they're not going to have, like, a whole
aisle of Transformers. It would be nice, but
they won't do that. That's not entirely true.
Like, the dollar store, dollar general. Dollar
tree one of those yeah every year. They have
a set of six universe toys and they're not a
dollar granted, but they're like five bucks each
and they're basic size toys and they're like
repaints from the the energon line or the The
I don't want to say our motto, but you get the
idea small smaller ones. Yeah, and they're they're
They're not even repaints, to be honest. They're
just the regular toy in a universe bubble. Universe
packaging. I used to get those every year and
hunt down a couple different stores to hunt them
all down. It occurred to me it's just not worth
it. It's the same damn toy, it's just in a different
package. Right, exactly. So I got rid of all
mine. I used to have all sorts of fun hunting
those down. But like I said, dollar store, you
can get them there. Yeah. We were also looking
in the Christmas aisle because mom wanted to
get a jump on. Last year, when we did Christmas
at her apartment, we got a tree and she wanted
white lights. I've never liked white lights.
I was raised with colored lights. White lights
makes the tree look like it's on fire. You know,
it makes it look like the cat from Christmas
Vacation is still chewing on the wire. You know,
I don't know, it just, I don't know, it just,
I've never liked the white, just white, plain
white lights. Now, the lights don't have to blink.
I don't care. As long as they're colored lights,
the blue, red, green, whatever, orange, yellow,
whatever colors they come in. You know, blinking
lights are alright, but I don't necessarily need
the blinking, because, you know, obviously, just...
whatever. So we're in the Christmas aisle, looking
around, looking around. Mom points to this thing,
this is, you know, M &M's does red and green
candies every year. They have for, since I was
alive, I assume probably before then, there was
a tin in there. And it's, I actually got it,
it comes with a bag of red and green M &M's inside
of it, but it looks like a book. It's called
2009 M &M an M &M's Holiday Tale M &M's Christmas
Mix. How Red Saved Christmas. And it's like this
tin type of thing. I don't know if you can hear
that on the microphone. It's just a tin. You
open it up and inside is a, well, not now, but
there was a bag of red and green M &M's that
you could empty out and it would hold it as a
container, but there's a story of how red saved
Christmas. And I thought that was really cool.
It's only like eight or nine dollars. at writing
no i mean it's a cool coli you know christmas
collectible thing and you know uh... you know
i i i that that that is interesting uh... i i
do think the christmas collectible things but
uh... question that i and my wife actually ask
ourselves before we buy uh... you can see items
like this is uh... will this item and up in a
garage sale next summer and if the answer is
yes that we put it back on the show See, not,
not with this I don't think. Because, uh, granted
it can't be spun. Well see, but the whole point
of it is you can put it away with your Christmas
stuff and yeah, granted it is a, I'm sure they're
gonna have another one next year that says 2010,
granted this says 2009, but it's a tin just like
any other tin. So you can wash it out. You can
put it away with your Christmas stuff. No! You
know what I mean. You can put it in with your
Christmas stuff when you put your Christmas stuff
away. And you can bring it out next year. You
know, some of the stuff that you're saying, you
know, will this end up in your... Yeah, there
is some Christmas stuff that I would say that
is like that, but for Christ sakes, man, it's
M &M's and it's red. Come on. Red's cool. He
fainted at the sight of Santa. Come on. to each
their own I mean you know I'm not gonna you know
force this down people's throats unless I go
buy like six or seven of them and send them to
people as their gifts this year you know which
I may end up doing but it's very very cool so
yes what other general chat things would you
like to talk about do we have anything else we
want to bring up as I said majority of my free
time has been spent up by this game so I could
talk about it for another hour no game for you
so I believe we are going to take a break you're
going to hear the voicemails that people did
send in I believe we have eight of them which
the final one will actually be yours seeing as
how yours is the only not to say that it wasn't
the only interesting one but it was pretty funny
and it was yeah you pretty much uh pretty much
through the idea back in my face in that voicemail
um sorry so wait for the best one yeah exactly
so we will be right back Hey, this is Stupid869
from Twitter. I'm here to review Transformers
Animated Activators Bumblebee. He's a nice little
yellow car. He's pretty much show actor, except
for his back bumpers that have giant hinges on
them for his arm transformation. For his transformation,
you just press the red siren on top and he pops
up. All you gotta do is just fiddle with his
arms and legs and he's pretty much all set. His
robot modes... not quite show accurate because
of his arms they're pretty much molded into the
side panels of his car but um he's a fun little
toy um i didn't think i would like him because
it is activator but i just can't put him down
this is general techno here with his favorite
toy of all time pick for transformers now i couldn't
really pick a favorite toy because there's so
many that are up there but one of the ones that's
up there very very high on my list is the Masterpiece
Starscream mold. I have both the Hasbro color
G1 Starscream and the Hasbro Masterpiece Skywarp
colors on this and I have to say that both look
phenomenally amazing. Jet mode is great, very
sleek, has all kinds of neat bits that fold out
and such, opening cockpit, The jet engine areas
and stuff. Robot mode is very G1 accurate as
well. The only negative is the hip kibble, but
you can position that so that it actually looks
pretty cool the way it's positioned. The decos
are great on both figures. They're both very
sturdy and if you have Starscream, if you buy
the coronation set add -on, he just looks phenomenal
with that. I recommend the Skywarp mold since
it's out right now to anyone who wants it. General
Techno signing off. This is Malinus with the
review of Skids and Mudflap, reviewed by Skids
and Mudflap. Yeah, but I... I don't... You don't
know nothing. Yes, I do. You don't know nothing
about marketing. You know, I'm just gonna...
I don't understand. You know, I'm just gonna...
Yeah, they're small too. I can crush this with
my fingers. And then, sort of thing. Oh, look
at that. That's cute. Yeah, you know what? I'm
gonna... I'm gonna say this is an awesome toy.
I'm gonna say this is an awesome toy. Yeah, it
is. Yeah. Later. Hi, I'm calling for the Toycast.
I'm calling for my favorite Transformer. My name's
Ram2D. And my favorite Transformer is G1 Trax.
And he's my favorite because he's a 1980s Corvette,
which has always been one of my favorite cars.
And he was also one of the few flying Autobots.
And he could fly in car mode especially. So it's
pretty cool, and his robot form is pretty awesome.
So that's it. Thanks. Bye. turns into a Dome
Zero car, what more could I ask for? It's also
a hot rod. Hey everybody, this is Steve Megatron
Phillips calling to you again from a great Geekcast
radio network. Yes, I almost flubbed that. Anyways,
this is for Toycast episode 25. I'm going to
talk about my quite possibly favorite Transformers
figure of all time. uh... you know it's not megatron
like my voice my uh... voices or my uh... screen
name uh... it would be the g one masterpiece
optimist prime granted i got up when he first
came out cost like seventy bucks in the store
but i love this figure because it's got some
diecast in it like the old -school transport
toys uh... he's he's fully articulated it actually
looks so accurate as well as comic In robot as
well as in truck He comes with the matrix of
leadership with of course the light up feature
inside his chest and as well as his His cannon
which is basically his trademark weapon The the
only downfall to this figure is his smokestacks
are not accurately sized but He is a great figure
nonetheless and I would recommend this to anybody
if you do not have it As a thing to get anyways,
this is Steve Megatron Phillips signing off Hi,
this is Michael Wilson also known as for kind
court Michael Occasional guest host on Geekcast
radio network. I wanted to call in to toy cast
and leave my vote for the favorite my personal
favorite transformer uh... might be a transformer
is uh... uh... well i read the comes around this
time so it'd be hot rod and brothers prime uh...
uh... okay to like you care to ask what would
be hot rod well this time and that was fine a
whole lot of your district uh... might like to
return for what we have to be hot rod but it
was prime office prime and megatron uh... and
probably Okay, yeah narrowing it down just to
one is kind of yeah, you get the idea. Okay.
Thanks. Yeah We are back on transformers toycast
like to thank everybody who sent in voicemails
I greatly appreciate it wasn't exactly the full
idea that I had but hey at least we got some
voicemails You know, and I'm not not trying to
complain about it. You know, I thank everybody
who sent in their their reviews and Yeah, maybe
we can do that again for next couple episodes
or whatever, you know, in the future. Okay, so
since you wanted to review something small, you
can go first. Oh, okay. I'm just throwing you
under the bus right now. Throw me directly under
the bus. Yes. As the host of the show and being
a true gentleman, you should have gone first,
but... No, no, no. Fine, though. Yeah, basically,
I wanted to make this quick. So we drug out the
smallest and oldest transformer that I have,
which is a Generation 1 Bumblebee. The one that
I have, and I'm surprised that I don't have more
than one. I love thinking about it. But the one
that I have is actually from 1985 as opposed
to 1984. He's got a rub sign on his chest as
opposed to the Autobot insignia. The ones from
84 had a little red insignia and from 85 and
86 they actually came with a rub sign. Yeah,
I always had the ones with the rub sign too when
I did have Bumblebee. I don't have them anymore,
but yeah, I never had ones with the insignia.
Yeah, well the rub sign still works which is
kind of cool. Yeah, oh yeah. basically a small
super deformed Volkswagen bug you think a bumblebee
and you think oh Volkswagen you know because
that's what he was on the cartoon but he's kind
of water or like somebody took a Volkswagen and
just kind of squished it down a little bit with
their fingers you know he was made with those
proportions in mind by Takara because he was
originally part of their penny racer line in
fact The bumblebee toy doesn't have it in there,
but the The original penny racers had a little
pullback motor that was in the back. There's
a room in here for that, but you can't really
have that that way because it's legs would there's
I should say is is the wheels shoulders wouldn't
engage These transforms unlike a penny racer.
Well, you remember penny racers, don't you? Yeah
Had a little penny that you stuck in the back.
Yeah, and then pull them and watch them slide
And I don't think they did as well in America
as they did in Japan. Well what we had here I
think that kind of took the same concept was
the pull back and let go cars Yeah, I don't know
what they're you know they they made them for
all kinds of things The I think what were the
damn names of the two transformers, and I can't
stand from g1 Topspin and twin -twist, they were
one of those where if it's in vehicle mode, you
take it on your kitchen floor or whatever, as
long as it's not carpet, you pull it back, let
it go, and it'll go five or six feet or whatever.
Same thing. Not even that far. That's generous.
Yeah, and then at the end of their run, they
flip. Yeah. Metal chargers, metal chargers. But
yeah, so, you know Bumblebee's yellow He's got
a little you know little head face and the his
face kind of looks like bumblebee's got the little
horns But he actually has a face mask kind of
like Alvinus Prime and it wouldn't be until years
later like 2004 that Takara would re -release
him with a with a face that looked like his cartoon
version He looks a little different there's a
little sticker on the back of his head. It was
supposed to look like a spare tire. I never liked
that sticker. The sticker always wore off of
my toys. Because I had like six or seven of those,
honestly. Because I would always go through them
with the sticker. As soon as the sticker rubbed
off, I gave the toy to my friends. I said, OK,
that's it. No, seriously. I had a lot of G1 Bumblebee
when I was younger. Wow. I never had one, and
I was excited to get this one. I had to look
for a while to get mine because the Bumblebee
and the Cliffjumper were, I want to say there's
one more, but they were two of the very, very
few, yeah, the Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, and Hubcap
came out in 85 or 86, I forget, but were the
only ones that had rubber tires. And the rubber
tends to crack. Tires fall off and yeah, it took
me a while to find One that I really like because
you know all the rest of them didn't have any
tires Mm -hmm. He's a little tire say Dunlop
It's an actual tire brand. It's kind of yes.
Yes. Yeah, but yeah mine he's uh His arms are
a little loose. They slide out a little little
too quickly But his legs are strong. He stands
up He looks kind of you know, he's in good shape.
He's good You know, a little wear here and there.
But, uh, you know, there's basically no paint
on him. He's just yellow plastic. Yellow and
black plastic. Yeah, there wasn't a lot of paint,
I don't think, on toys back in G1. I don't know.
I mean, you know, I've got G1 Optimus here with
me, and he looks like he's majority of plastic.
It doesn't look like it's a lot of paint. Yeah.
Well, yeah, so that's, uh... That's basically
it for him. He was reissued as a keychain in
2001. And I actually got that one. And I got
the, actually, I think him and Cliffjumper and
Braun, oh, and Gears, I think, all were turned
into keychains. And they took their bumper and
retooled it. So you had a little loop on one
side that a keychain could, or a chain could
actually attach to. And that was neat. Those
are somewhere in the closet. I never bothered
to open those. I mean, it's not like I'm actually
going to put them on my keychain. And I got enough
crap in my pocket. I don't need a bumblebee in
there, too. Yeah. And breaking and, you know.
So, yeah, in fact, I think when I met Dan Gilvezan,
I had him sign mine. Oh, really? The keychain
package, you mean? Yeah, yeah. That's cool. Yes.
Somewhere in the closet, there's a, you know,
keychain bumblebee signed by dan gilbertson very
very cool yeah it's kind of neat and so yeah
i i dig them uh now that i think about it i should
probably you know try to find myself a a 1984
one with a sticker on the chest when i'm better
shaped than this one wonder how much those go
for now though i have no idea you know i got
a g2 bumblebee uh which is basically the same
thing except Instead of yellow, he's got like
a gold paint. He's gold colored. Literally like
reflective, right? Yeah, that's gold bug. No,
it's not. No, G2. Wait. G2 is a G1 Bumblebee
painted gold. Right, but I could have sworn that
they're... It's gold pearl. Right, but I thought
that that was the G1 gold bug when the show...
Changed him from bumblebee to gold bug didn't
they release a g1 figure of gold bug the same
as the G didn't they do? Gold bug is actually
a complete different figure. He's he's bigger.
He's a throttle bot. He's one of those Oh, that's
right. That's right. That's right. Yeah, I I
own the throttle bots. I don't like Just don't
think they're very good toys. They're they're
Yeah, they're worse than jump starters at least
jump starters would pop up and either fall over
or do something at the end of the run these just
yeah these are just bad toys yeah no pose ability
they don't have any external weaponry just yeah
the throttle bots just sucked ass but gold bug
was a throttle bot and then for g2 as an apology
Right? They said, we'll compromise with you.
We'll give you the G1 toy, but we're going to
paint them gold. So I've got that one, and these
are really nice shape, with good tires and such.
But that one actually did not have the rub sign.
They went back to the sticker. You come to think
of it, mine doesn't have a sticker. All right,
yeah, I'm looking at my G2 shelf now, and I don't
see a sticker. on Cliffjumper or Bumblebee. I
say gold but not because he's gold. Cliffjumper
2 is another one of those that they repainted
in the metallic color. He's still red though.
Yeah, so that might be a good idea. Go back and
look for a 1984 Bumblebee as opposed to the 85
that I got now. Yeah. Yeah. Well. So are you
done talking about do you want Bumblebee? Yeah,
yeah. Okay. No, I didn't want to didn't know
if you had any final thoughts or whatever. Well,
yeah. Not really, aside from the utter and horrible
lack of posibility. You know, I mean you can
you can move his arms forward. Yeah, that's about
it. And that, yeah, I actually moved them now
and I'm thinking I'm gonna break them. Just hold
your arms flat at your side, Bumblebee, and keep
them there until the end of time. and the toy
that i will be talking about in this episode
in this final episode of the year we will be
coming back in late january of two thousand ten
uh... is the very extremely rare find in this
area for me i talked about this a couple other
times just about finding him was the tf a Christmas
animated Voyager class optimus prime the earth
mode optimus And I gotta say, I love this figure.
This is just an awesome figure. I need to find
another one so I can have him in vehicle mode.
Actually, I need to find two more because I'm
gonna be giving this one away at some point unless
I can find the two... I have one of the headlights
here, but I can't find the other one because
I think it's behind my desk. When I went to transform
him, and I brought the gray part for the headlights
down to his legs where it's supposed to be, and
you're supposed to fold the... you're supposed
to move the the the headlight parts the the bumper
parts back you know from being up or whatever
yeah one of them broke off and it went behind
my desk and my desk is like a six foot by nine
foot wooden cherry piece of stuff here and uh
yeah so it's behind there so i just did screw
it and i and i popped off the other headlight
i've got the other headlight actually it's in
my hand right now but um you know Overall this
awesome figure. I think it's a great updating
of the you know obviously it's animated style
It's not exactly the g1 truck Obviously because
he comes with that that axe trailer thing that
they thought could look like a trailer But it's
really just an axe on his back with the water
squirter What I guess that's what they thought
I don't know whatever so you got me curious now
i'm going to have to pull mine out um... let
me see what do you mean curious about the trailer?
uh... yeah i've got mine in my transformers animated
shelf and i thought i would pull it out to look
at it yeah cause it it's supposed to look like
the firetruck trailer that they show in the show
but it really isn't it's just an axe and then
the squirt gun that's on the back of him One
thing I don't like about the animated line is
the fact that they use silver and gold Autobot
and Decepticon logos. I just don't like that.
I don't know, I just, whatever. So picky. Red
and purple, that's what the damn color should
be. Red and purple, damn it. But anyway, a hum.
One thing I noticed about this figure as I have
him here on my desk and normally over the last
week I've had him actually on my computer tower
and Looking at him from a distance. It almost
looks like he has Mega Man legs And I'm talking
about the blue part of the legs below the knee
they just for some odd reason they remind me
of Mega Man legs. I don't know why Not really
sure Okay, um I like the fact that you that his
hands plug into the black piece on the on the
arm Because I don't know it's just it's just
cool. It's it's a nice way of saying hey We're
kind of throwing back to the g1 thing where you
had to actually plug the hands into the into
the headlights But we're not really because they
just kind of stick into his arm there, which
I thought that was really cool And then of course
on the back of him He has the room for like if
you want to store the axe on the back of him
is kind of like a jetpack I don't really do that
actually I think the axe when I first took it
off of him I did get it fixed, but it broke into
like a million pieces like all the all the all
the separate parts You know the wings popped
off the the red piece popped off. It was like
us screwed up really do this or just throw in
the box of extra parts no luck with this picture
here exactly uh... i well i look i really do
enjoy these tours beast machines and i like the
fact that they took a different direction with
optimist primal having no faceplate other than
his optimal optimist body had one at one point
i think uh... but I really don't like the fact
that TFA Optimus has a face and a faceplate.
I don't know, it just doesn't translate well
for me. He has this faceplate that you can either
have it up or down. I like that. I don't know.
On the one hand, I think I like him with a mouth
because he's more expressive and he can smile
and yell at people. You can do more with him
emotionally, rather than just have him stare
really hard at you. And yet, at the same time,
when he goes into battle, the faceplate comes
up, and he's G1 Prime. He can kick anybody's
ass because he's G1 Prime. And then, mouthplate
comes down, and hey, he's David Kay again. uh...
yeah actually the characters and uh... i'm actually
comparing him now to the g one optimus the only
thing that and i'm not sure i would have to go
back and watch the cartoon and see if this was
in there but the only thing the toy design as
far as the head does not have is the gray the
silver uh... thing in the front of his head you
know i'm talking about in between his ears right
above his eyes. Oh, the crest? Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
That's the only thing that the animated version
does not have. Yeah, I guess. Well, he doesn't.
Well, no, I mean, he's got something. Well, yeah.
Up there, but it's not like a crest. Yeah, it's
not. It's colored differently. Yeah, it's just
blue and then there's yellow and stuff, so. His
light piping actually sucks a lot. I can get
it to work. I mean I can get it to work somewhat,
but... I'm looking at him directly under my light.
He looks good. I mean, it's not like a glare,
but it's... No, yeah. It's not bad. I really
like his windshield. Yeah, his windshield is
awesome because it has the... It's like etched.
Yeah, it's etched with some sort of... It might
be... I guess you could consider it some sort
of Cybertronian writing on it, or some sort of
Cy... Yeah, circuit board or several turning
lines again going back to the axe People that
are a fan of this figure by itself without the
weapons that it comes with are gonna have to
either find an individual weapon of the battle
two -pack battle damaged optimus or the Cybertron
mode optimus for a cartoon accurate axe type
because yeah the axe that came with this guy
is not Cartoon accurate what so freaking ever
No, not really It looks like you found a small
plane. Yeah, exactly You know I'm I'm gonna feel
really bad about saying this But it's been a
while since I've had him in vehicle mode and
I noticed on his back He's got a little gear
that twists when you move his waist Yeah, and
I'm thinking that gear has got to do something
cool in vehicle mode because it doesn't do anything
in robot mode You know what it is? That's the
gear, because he's gravity transformed. That's
the gear, I believe that gear is to, from vehicle
to robot, that's how his legs automatically transform
around and then you just click the waist into
place. So it won't move, I think that's what
that's for. Yeah, because I mean, he still swivels
at the waist. Yes, he does, a little bit. He's
got a decent degree of articulation. Yes. I like
his feet. It looks like he's got boots. Yeah,
and the cool thing about the feet is you can
actually pose them a little bit. Like if you
want to have him stand on his tip toes or whatever.
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, I like that they're
slanted inwards so that he can spread his legs
and his feet are still planted flat on the ground.
Yep. And the other thing is you can turn his,
because he has articulation at below the knee,
right at his shin, so you can actually turn the
foot. Oh, yeah. Yeah. He's kind of got like the
kung fu action grip at the knee level. Yep. So
they kind of rotate. That's neat. Yeah. I didn't
know that before. Nice. Well, I mean, honestly,
I think I pulled him out of the package and transformed
him and then put him on the shelf. Yeah, the
only thing I don't really like about him for
some odd reason, if you look at his, like, if
you look at him in robot mode after you have
his head pulled up and the whole cab thing, you
know, the whole cab part where it hides his head,
if you have that down or you have his head up,
on his shoulders, it's a different color red.
It's a brighter red than what is on his actual,
um... Yeah. yeah i don't like that that seems
weird it's just a little distracting i guess
here no it's not terrible but uh... i gotta say
uh... this has got to be the best updating if
you really want to consider an update of the
g one point uh... in the animated style this
is probably the best that they're going to get
uh... yeah have you seen the uh... uh... What
do they call it? Rollout Command Optimus Prime?
Yeah, I don't like that one too much. Yeah. I
mean, I've got one. Yeah. It's almost the exact
same except bigger. Yeah. I like the Voyager
size. I honestly wish a lot more Voyagers would
exist. Yeah. Like if you had Blur in a Voyager
mode. I understand, as I've said before, I understand
Deluxe. You know, it's that lower... not the
lowest price point, but it's that more manageable
$10, $11, $12, $14 price point, and then Voyagers
are the $20 price point, and then leaders are
the $30, $40 price point. I get that, but for
some odd reason, I think a lot of the animated
figures would look better as larger sizes, like
Voyager or some leaders. I know Rollout Command
Optimus Prime is almost like having a leader.
Figure of optimus, but I just wish that they
would have done a leader optimus cost more than
a leader Okay, well Let's see what I'm saying
though. Yeah, I'm almost arguing that that rollout
command optimus would have been a little bit
of a waste You know he's kind of kind of in Kind
of a supreme cheetor ish type of a waste Yeah,
he's really big, but what the hell did you do
you know? You know, he stands there. Well, Supreme
Shooter doesn't even stand there. God, it's hard
as hell making that guy stand. You know what?
You pull on the back of his neck and he goes,
rawr! And his claws shoot out if you move his
arm a certain way. He's got a gimmick, but still,
it's not enough to really pay 50 bucks for. Yeah,
I think I received mine as a gift. Otherwise,
I probably would have waited until it went on
clearance. even without the gravity transformation
part like where you you know i have to you you
know after you pull his his truck piece up and
then press the little button on the back to get
the legs to turn around even without that this
was the easiest figure out of the entire animated
line for me to transform yeah i mean outside
of you know the action stuff you know that stuff
kind of breaking but I was able to put it back
together outside of that this is the easiest
transformation I've done and this is still classified
as level three advanced conversion as far as
what's on the package actually the box for this
is the only animated box I've saved but I was
actually able to save that I didn't have to tear
it to shreds I really, really enjoy this guy.
He's a great figure. One of the things about
the animated line I was looking at and all the
ones that I have, of course I have doubles of
everything, car mode and robot mode. The animated
line is extremely bright in color. Oh yeah, yeah,
very colorful. Because I had him, the Voyager
Optimus, on my shelf. I actually, the only place
I could put him until I actually, you know, get
Floating shelves are here in the living room
to put all the figures on I had to I had to basically
Make sure that shockwave Purple wave wasn't going
to actually fall over And I actually had optimists
standing in front of him because it was the only
place I could put him on my shelf at the time
So yeah Overall great figure if you can find
him pick him up. I'm sure by now. You're gonna
have to resort to Amazon or eBay Unfortunately,
I again there was just a super super rare fine
for me at Walmart one weekend I didn't even I
actually I did three I know this is gonna sound
weird. I did three died I basically did a triple
take because I did like I did like three double
takes I'm like what wait what no That but yeah,
but what the okay? That's mine because it was
the only one there there was nobody else in the
aisle other than myself in the way that was restocking
like star wars figures uh... you know uh... you
know what i was gonna say i i like about this
figure too is that uh... the voyager size puts
him in the uh... uh... let's say a cartoon accurate
size along with the the uh... the other blocks
figures right so i mean when he stands next to
Jazz or he stands next to Let's say I want to
say I don't want to say leader bulkhead, but
yeah, most likely leader or he stands next to
Prowl he he looks like he's the right height
Exactly. It's actually funny when I first before
I really started getting into the animated line
I would watch YouTube reviews of different figures
and this is one that I watched from Spada who
does on the TF wire podcast And Spada was like,
oh, because originally he didn't pull the legs
all the way up or all the way down to make him
fight that he's supposed to be. He's like, oh,
well, this is kind of a small figure for a Voyager.
And then he put his hand on the leg. He's like,
oh, wait. Oops, stupid me. I didn't pull the
legs all the way down. And then he pulled the
legs all the way down. He's like, oh, that's
much better. Yeah, that's what a Voyager is supposed
to look like. you know when he went when his
legs are are just pushed up to like your home
almost off the desk uh... uh... it's funny i
don't know if you've seen the picture i put on
twitter or facebook uh... actually your your
wife is he commented on my face book uh... one
time i was having problems when i first got this
figure he ended up in a full -on split I took
a picture of it with my phone, and I said hey
kids look. It's optimus prime in the 70s doing
the splits It's on it's in my Facebook She told
me about it. She's like why is your friend posting
shit like this? Well, it's cuz it did I've never
had a transformer do that It's a testament to
his posability You know, I'm surprised that I
didn't get his leg all the way up above his head.
Oh, wow Hey kids, I'm hoping Oh my god, you have
no idea what I just did with this figure. Shit,
there it goes! No, wait, come on. Stand up, you
bastard. Okay, there we go. Okay, no! Don't fall
over. You fall over, I will kick you in the...
Anyway. Yeah, I gotta take a picture of this.
This is holy crap. I cannot believe I just did
this. This is a testament of what his poseability
is like. Is he doing the crane? Has he like,
got one foot up and he's like... Yeah, well,
it's actually I was thinking of more of those
yoga people who can pull their foot up over their
head and basically put it in their own mouth
But that's what I was thinking of and it just
ended up being that his is his right foot was
all the way being Behind him up on his back.
So yeah, I I took a picture of that and I will
send it to you Yes. So do we have any other thoughts
on Mr. Voyager Optimus Prime here? No, awesome
figure. I would highly recommend getting one.
Especially if you're one of those people who
collect all of the Optimus Prime figures. There
are some, hey. No, I know. I can't get his voice
started. Now I can't put him back, he's broken!
I gotta get another one anyways, so it doesn't
matter. You better go back to the Walmart and
hide it somewhere. So it was defective? Exactly.
Stick it somewhere where it... Well, I mean,
because if they still have some, they're probably
not gonna last very long. No, he was the only
one there that was... Because those Voyagers
are a bigger box than the Deluxes, obviously.
And most people know this. I, you know, I didn't
really pay any attention to this. But I looked
at it, and at first I saw two Cybertron Megatrons,
and I saw two Grimlocks. And then all of a sudden
I look down in the very front of the shelf, and
it's like Optimus Prime staring me in the face.
I'm like, it's kind of like, uh, have you seen
the Simpsons movie? Yeah. Kind of like in church
when the light comes down on grandpa's head with
the oh You know that that that heavenly yeah,
there was a light shining down on this figure
and said by me It's a good find I tend to see
a lot I don't say a lot, but I'm gonna say like
two or three of the Grimlocks. They're so warming
the shelves I'm hoping those will sell Once they
start releasing some more of the of the you know
the long -lost Animated toys, but you know you
always see like Grimlock and Cybertron mode Megatron
I see a lot of the Cybertron mode Megatron, and
I also see a lot. Yeah Not even oh, I don't see
I very rarely see the atomic lug nut I see the
regular lug nut yeah Yeah, no, I've never seen
blitzway in my area I actually went to a store
I got mine and I went to a Walmart and there
was a girl there who had her boyfriend climbing
up on top of the the Shelves to look way up high
on the top shelf to see if they had any blitzwing
and he's like And I'm like, oh my god. And I
said, what'd you find? Because I saw they were
digging up where the Transformers were, way up
out of reach, right? Yeah. And she's like, we
found a Blood Swing. And I was like, oh, that's
a good figure. Yeah, you'll dig him. And she's
like, he's my favorite. Like, man, kids nowadays,
you know? Well, not only kids, five -year -old
men as well. Yeah. You know, going into it. Exactly.
Into boxes that are left out on the floor taking
air anything and everything he can get his little
groovy hands on I Just find it very I found that
blog post very funny. That's all I'm saying You
know I will always call you on that because it
is just the funniest thing in the world to me
at the time and I'm like Oh, it was actually
right. It was probably right before we actually
like started talking and became friends or whatever
you know it was like I didn't really know you
you just ended up as one of my Twitter followers
somehow and I was like what in the hell did he
do and I started reading him like no he did not
no oh yeah he did he went in the back and he
looked in boxes I know you didn't go in the back
They were on they were right there in the aisle
at the end of the aisle and Well, it was like
a big cart and they were just chock full of cases
of Transformers and It was too tempting to pass
up. It's not like I is that like I dressed up
as an employee You know, it's actually funny
how many people have walked up to me when I'm
walking through Target and asking me if I'm an
employee. No, seriously. And I don't even have
their dress code on. I wear a lot of dark colors.
I don't really wear red a lot. But I didn't even
have a red shirt on that day. But I had my Boyz
Heaven ID on. And I guess it kind of looked like
a Target ID to this lady. And I was like, no,
I don't really work here. But And she was like
hanging around electronics, you know, like what
are you looking at? I just asked what are you
looking for? And she's like, oh, I'm looking
for this. Oh, try over there. But I don't know.
But you have no idea how many times I've been
confused as a target employee to the store that
I've applied to since I was probably 18 or 19
that has refused me employment every single time.
That's terrible. See now, I graduated from Indiana
University where the colors are Red and and well
white crimson and cream, right? So I really really
dig my red polo shirts So when I wander in there
and you know, either jeans or khakis polo shirt
Everybody's looking at me coming down the aisle.
Yeah Yeah, and I don't do it on purpose. Yes,
you do. Don't lie. No, I don't do it on purpose.
You do it so you can find open boxes of transformers
and steal all the ones that you want. Get all
the good stuff. Don't lie. That would have been
funny if I would have been dressed up as a target
employee and wandering around and actually putting
shit back on the shelf. Like, I think this goes
here. But no, that wasn't the case. It's a good
story, though. Yeah, it is. So before we go into
the closing, I think, hopefully if this works,
I'm going to play this. You're a persistent little
Autobot. My name is Optimus Prime! It's funny
too because in the end, Megatron actually calls
him by name. And he says, ah, you do know my
name, don't you? I think that, you know... Because
originally David Kaye went in there expecting
not really expecting but thinking that they were
gonna look for him as The Megatron because he's
played Megatron He had at that time when they
first started, you know doing stuff for the animated
show. He had played Megatron for ten years As
he started Beast Wars and he ended in the Unicron
trilogy and Cybertron And then he got Optimus
Prime obviously. Oh yes, I'm not saying that
he did very well, especially in the, I think
it was in game part one when he got his jet pack,
when he's learning to fly, he's like, he used
two different Megatron sayings from Beast Wars,
he's like, I think it was a yes and something
else, and even though it's in the Optimus Prime
voice, you just know it's from the Beast Wars
Megatron. you just know that's what he was inflecting
there yeah so alright well I think we're going
to close this out the 25th episode again I would

On a Christmaquansica. And we will see you in
2010 goodbye There once was a boy, an albino,
I'm told, who possessed the power of pen pusher
gold. He had many stories, all short and exciting,
but nobody knew, and so he began writing. He
sat there all summer and skillfully sought to
perfectly ponder and polish each plot. The settings
were set, all the characters cast, his fingers
were flying and flailing so fast, and soon the
young man with the snowy complexion quickly concocted
the caffeine collection. He smiled, satisfied
with his clever creation. Oh, the things that
did pour from his imagination. Stories of pirates
and future police, of devils and bullies, and
a twist press release. Fantasy, mystery, both
are included. Comedy, action, no genre excluded.
You say to yourself, it's too good to be true,
but author Steve Saylor would not lie to you.
