About this Episode

TFG1Mike and OptimusSolo review three Tales of Eternia episodes: "A Friend in Need" explores addiction through a magical potion subplot, "Daimar the Demon" introduces a villain who defies Skeletor's control, and "The Dragon's Gift" features the wise dragon Granamir and explores themes of sacrifice and humanity's nature.

and the Masters of the Universe! I am Adam, Prince

of Eternia and defender of the secrets of Castle

Grayskull. This is Cringer, my fearless friend.

Fabulous secret powers were revealed to me the

day I held aloft my magic sword and said, By

the power of Grayskull! The Cringer became the

mighty Battle Cat, and I became He -Man, the

most powerful man in the universe. Only three

others share this secret. Our friends, the Sorceress,

Planet Arms, and Orko. Together, we defend Castle

Grayskull from the evil forces of Skeletor. Hello,

this is TFJOMike and welcome to the sixth chapter

in the Tales of Eternia. With me as always for

this journey into the Masters of the Universe

franchise is the one and only Optimus Solo. That'd

be me. Yes, that'd be you. So are you ready to

continue on with the powers of Grayskull? I always

am. Yes. Yeah, it's been a fun and interesting

ride. We're still early into the journey. Oh,

way early. We still got... Just building up steam.

How many episodes and how many podcasts left

to record? Oh my god. We're not even halfway

through. I don't even think yet. No, we're not.

The tank, the gas tank is full. We're ready to

go. Yeah. In this episode of Tales of Eternia,

we'll be reading your thoughts on episode 16,

A Friend in Need, episode 17, Damar the Demon,

and episode 18, The Dragon's Gift. So we hope

you are ready because it's time to go back to

Eternia. I've been looking forward to your visit.

Me too, Tila. I'm glad my dad had to deliver

the transmutator. Attila! Elena! Guess what?

Charmian, the Sorcerer, has escaped the prison

mine. He could be on his way here right now.

Why here? King Randor and He -Man imprisoned

him a long time ago. He swore revenge. Oh, do

you think we're safe? Not to worry. He's probably

in another galaxy by now. Come on, Elena. find

randor and he man and take my revenge so first

up today is a friend in need dig it all over

the plot plot man all righty a friend in need

air date monday september 26 1983 so this is

how we started our week off back in september

of 1983 here writer brinn did we decide that's

how we say this guy's name Who has previously

written the episodes that we reviewed entitled

class or awakes and song of Solis We won't judge

him on class or awakes Please we will later,

but we'll try to keep an open mind heading into

this episode based on that fact. So a friend

in need plot. They arrive at the Royal Palace.

The less than confident Aelena enjoys the company

of Tila. However, their happiness is interrupted

when Jarvan decides to exact his revenge on those

who imprisoned him long ago. Jarvan sees Aelena's

insecurity and offers her a magical potion that

will give her confidence, but only for a short

time. Prince Adam and Tila worry for Aelena as

she exhibits dramatic changes in her personality

from one hour to the next. As Aelena enjoys the

highs and lows of her potion, she fails to realize

that she is placing the entire royal palace in

great danger at the hands of Jarvan. Interesting

as far as the roll call goes in this episode,

for the masters we have obviously He -Man, Adam,

Orko, Tila, Man -at -Arms, the King, Queen, and

Cringer Battlecat, but for the evil warriors

we have none. That has not happened very often.

That does not have it up to this point. Yeah,

I didn't think that in heaven at all But so basically

it's just driving as the bad guy as far as the

plot out real quickly I mean, this is a drug

plot this is a plot that revolves around a character

who is on drugs and who is dealing with the The

stimulus of the drug and the crash and the depression

of after the drug wears off, who's forming a

flight addiction to the drug and dealing with

it. I mean, that's the underlying plot wrapped

up in Eternia and He -Man's world and all the

fantasy and glitz and glamour. As far as taking

that away, because I think that's a valid plot

to throw in there in a kids' series. You know,

it's good at an early age to teach kids, you

know the dangers of yes, et cetera as far as

the actual You know fantasy part of it You know

Jarvan was a decent character. I didn't mind

him I don't mind that we're seeing that there

are bad characters outside of Skeletor and his

minions Finally the sorceress predictions are

coming true Yeah, there are other people bad

out there and I do like the fact that he has

a some that they briefly touch on a background

in the history backstory for him So it's not

just like he's just some random guy. There is

some type of story there that they do take some

time to you know touch on Um, so those parts

of the plot. I don't really have that that big

of a problem with there It's not a problem with

this episode and it's not a problem with any

of the episodes that we're going to talk about

today too much but I was overcome with an overwhelming

sense of deja vu with every one of these episodes

I I was convinced I This is serious, because

I actually took out our schedule, looked at what

we were supposed to be reviewing for this episode,

looked at the titles of the episodes that we

were supposed to be reviewing, and scrolled back

through every other week we've done to see if

I accidentally in the making up of the schedule

or if one of us accidentally in the making up

of the schedule had somehow put these episodes

on here twice. You know because we were talking

about the fact that you know There was obviously

the production order and there's the air date

order I'm like did we somehow mix up and did

we already talk about these episodes? I was convinced

that we and then I went online To like look up

some of these characters to see if we had seen

them before and whatnot Like I was convinced

that we had I had already watched these three

episodes Nope, and we hadn't so maybe we'll get

more into that later, but this plot ice is very

similar to something we've already seen um outside

of the the drug part of it maybe but okay what

are your thoughts this is well this plot for

the for a friend in need this is pretty much

ed whiner in put uh... what's -her -name i don't

know her name is the check it's in this one just

replace her with a wider and that's what this

also is to take a drug part out of it and replace

that you'd just why i originally was like well

maybe i'm just thinking of the the one you're

talking about with it one lady adult lady adorna

i was like maybe that's what i'm thinking about

but it's i convinced myself it wasn't related

when it was a despicable unlikable character

yes you know we are or ilena i can't remember

how they said it in this episode but it's ilena

is a likable character she's to me i mean she's

not she doesn't like you you might not like her

or whatever but she's she's a likable character

like she could you could see how someone could

like her like she's not uh disgusting looking

she's she doesn't come across as a whiny bitch

um as much to me she comes across as more of

like a likable like innocent just naive character

so i'm like well it couldn't have been that one

but maybe that's it's parts of that it's parts

of obviously um the disguise that jarvan uses

yeah because that's a repaint from um an evil

in an evil in episode so i mean there's just

parts of this that that made me think of like

i've seen where a girl comes into the royal palace

and is used as the kind of the bait or the evil

device Then we've seen the disguise being used

to trick somebody so there's parts of this episode

that I'm like I've seen it before Yeah Yeah,

this wasn't and we all know that Filmation has

you know is known for stock animation is known

for stock character poses Granted did you know

this was a new character to us in the way that

we're watching these but still it just If you

take away the drug part about it, it just it

felt like you're right. It felt like something

we had seen before There's just too many little

parts of it that we'd that have been in other

episodes I'm not trying to take that away because

I think the whole potion thing is a legit Yeah

plot line that works. It's just there was other

stuff that I'm like advice. Did I already watch

it? Am I watching the right episode? Have we

reviewed this one already? I was convinced. I

was losing my mind And then the PSA for this

one obviously is directly related to the episode

of T -Man telling us basically, don't do drugs.

Did you notice though at the end of the PSA,

like right at the end of the message, he turns

his head sideways. Like he's talking to the camera.

Who's doing the message this time? He's talking

to the camera He's talking to the screen talking

about drugs and don't do drugs or whatever and

then as he's finishing his sentence the very

last sentence of the PSA He turns his head sideways

and talks in that direction Okay, I don't know

who he's turning to or if he's just tired of

looking at us But it's a weird Does he like look

so he so so what you're saying is he's looking

at us He's like looking at the screen to us and

then he like turns to his left He turns his head

or he turns his whole body turns his whole head

his it turns his head to the side He's now looking

off screen somewhere So we're not actually seeing

his face as we're watching the screen we see

like the side of his head We see the side of

his head like his ear and the probe so it's kind

of like something where What the hell was that?

Like you heard something behind it? Yeah, somebody's

sneaking up on him and he's like, I gotta finish

this. Maybe Skeletor had another invisibility

belt or something. Yeah, he's like, I gotta finish

this PSA but I gotta look over here because somebody's

doing something. Yeah. It's just a weird moment.

Yeah. Might have to. It is. It was. It was strange.

The PSA is though sometimes that recently between

episode five last week or yeah. Yeah, we released

that last week. Between episode 5 last week and

episode 6 now, the PSAs are getting stranger.

Not necessarily the messages, but just the way

that the characters are doing them. Because there

was one, I think it was last week that Orko did,

that just, I don't know, at the time, now that

I'm thinking about it now, it kind of irks me,

but at the time I didn't really have that much

of a problem with it, but... Some of the movements

or some of the sayings or just some of the extra

stuff outside of the message in the PSA's is

just weird to me. Yeah, I mean they might have

been rushed or whatnot. There could have been

a lot of reasons why they maybe weren't checking

as much, but this one was just weird. I'm like,

why is he no longer looking at us? But no overall,

I mean the. The plot is what it is, I guess.

I mean, like you said, I do agree with you, you

know, doing a drug centric episode is, you know,

you got to be educational somewhere. Well, it's,

you know, it's how people are always talking

about how TV rots our brains and makes us do

bad things and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

Well, sometimes it does the opposite. Sometimes

it plants seeds in us that tells us certain rights

from wrongs. And this one is easily, you know,

kind of doing that subliminal message of be careful

of things that give you this fake high yeah yeah

all right so i guess we're gonna go on over to

grayskull right yes i ever get myself in a fix

like this but more importantly how do i get out

Now that we've entered the hallowed halls of

Castle Grey Skull, I only have three positives

for this one. Okay. I thought I was going to

have more. How did Adam ever get himself into

effects like this, indeed? I love that. That

is something. That line and just the way that

he says it is just so awesome. Yeah. It just

is. It's just, it's so great because you don't

see Adam doing stuff like, you know, Adam's usually

cowering in the corner or laying out by the pond

waiting for a fish to jump on his hooker. You

know what I mean? And I'm not saying Adam is,

you know, is lazy all the time, but up to this

point, we've never really seen him do the whole,

you know, joke to the camera type of deal. And

I really dug that. I thought that was great.

I do like how we see three new characters and

that the villain had nothing to do with Skeletor.

I love that. I thought that was great. You see

Elina's father, Elina and Jarvan. So again, I

like that they're finally, and I'm not sure it's

going to happen every episode. It probably isn't.

Well, obviously the next episode we'll talk about

something else, but you know, I like how they

finally stepped off and told a different story

outside of Skeletor's plot of the week. No, I

agree So actually I those the only two that I

didn't have so what about you? What'd you like

about this? I'm just kind of piggybacking off

of what you just said with the three new characters.

I really like the design on Jarvan Not the old

hag disguise that we've seen before but his actual

design he was yeah, he looked evil He looked

the part conniving, you know, they captured all

that in his just in his design Like you didn't

even need to see him do anything hear him speak.

You just look at him and you knew his personality

Oh, so that was kind of cool. And then on Alina's

part they finally got a female character in this

show that is actually, to me, looks kinda hot.

Like, I know we haven't got there yet, but it

almost reminds me of the females that we see

in the She -Ra series, where they're actually

attractive, compared to Tila and Lady Edwina

and some of these characters that we've gotten

in this series so far, which I'm like, these

are supposed to be like people that Orko or Prince

Adam or whoever are swooning over and they're

ugly. Right or not, but they're not hot and I

think Alina was somewhat hot She is somewhat

hot, but I do have an issue with With her that

we'll get to eventually I also like I said, I

like the drug plotline. We've already kind of

talked about that So I don't need to do that

over again I like that the phrase that Alina

had to say to get jarvan there and Yeah, I mock

Yeah, it's just come to me spelled backwards

I Thought that was clever thought that was cool

And this is why going back to I believe last

week's episode why I think it would have been

cool if Adam would have had to say The lines

actually spelled backwards instead of the words

backwards Because in this situation if they had

done the same philosophy that they use in that

last episode Alina would have just said me to

come Which that would have been bad. Anyways,

you know M -O -T -M -O -C that sounds something

like that sounds fantastical That sounds like

something you'd hear and you know, the Star Trek

Lord of the Rings some type of fantasy world

It's like Oh M -O -T -M -O -C they're speaking

some weird language. It's a trance It's a you

know a magical spell, but it's literally the

letters backwards instead of just saying the

words backwards. I like that And the last one

I have for probably my favorite moment of the

episode actually No, I'm gonna kind of qualify

this in a second. But this episode we had a Transformation

sequence. I don't know what else to call that

besides a transformation sequence when Prince

Adam turns into human We have a free -falling

transformation sequence in this episode Adam

is falling from the sky pulls out his sword does

the thing and turns into He -Man in a free fall

and I thought that was cool. Now I will give

a little caveat here that I also thought that's

very risky because you are now changing from

Adam to He -Man in the middle of the air where

you have no control over who possibly could see

you from the ground. So it is a little risky.

But just the sequence of seeing him do it in

a different environment Instead of just standing

going off behind a bush or a tree like he's Superman

going into a phone booth and just doing it Like

I thought it was cool seeing him in a different

way Yeah turn into he -man We're uh, we're gonna

come back to this once we get to snake mountain.

Let's get there then I thought, maybe some more

potion? Of course! Adam, I think we better find

Elena. I'm worried about her. Just what I was

thinking. Let's go! Elena! Hi, Adam. Teela. How

you feeling? Oh, I'm fine. I'm just terrific.

In fact, I feel so good. I think I'll do something

I've always wanted to do. I think I'll take my

father's air car for a ride. Want to come? Have

you flown it before? Are you sure you know how?

Of course. I can do anything, Adam. Want to come?

Oh, sure, Elena. All right. So we have entered

the depths of Snake Mountain. I'm going to continue

the discussion here about the mid -air transformation

sequence. Really? That worked? Seriously? Come

on, give me a break. There's gonna be another

one. Not this episode of the podcast, but in

a future episode. I don't remember what it was.

It might actually be from Secret of the Sword.

I cannot remember. There's another one where

Adam transforms while he's wading water. Why

can't he? These... It just doesn't... Okay, I

understand why you like it because it is different.

It's not just him ducking behind a bush I get

that but it you know, as you also said You know

people would especially midair. I mean, hello

Stratos could have cut while Stratos not well

No, Stratos doesn't know doesn't know but he

you know, I have a sneaking suspicion. He's always

a good guy, but I'm saying it's like It just

doesn't seem to me that... You can never trust

what Stratos sees and not sees. He's somewhat

of a peeping time. No, I know that, but I'm saying

it... To me, it doesn't seem like... It doesn't

seem like, okay, I can believe, you know... You

know... Cringer running away from the transformation

sequence. I can believe a wagon rolling down

a hill in the transformation sequence, but actually

doing it, like... in other places. I could probably

believe it more if Adam was in the Wind Raider

and he stood up. See, I don't have a problem

with it being possible if he could transform

or not in a free fall. I mean, I question his

choice. I mean, obviously he thought he was in

danger or whatever. But I question the riskiness

or the choice of doing it in that situation and

exposing yourself. But I don't question his ability

to do it in any situation as long as he can say

those words and hold the sword. Yeah. All right,

so Jumping back up to the top of my list here.

Here we go again with bad characterization on

Tila to this point She has been shown as a hard

-ass captain of the guards. It is more serious

than funny Yet in the opening scene, she doesn't

take orcos warning too seriously at all. I blame

the writing She laughs his warning off what I

forget what the hell he warned her about But

she essentially thinks it's one of those in line

jokes that we always see and it just it pissed

me off She does a lot of that. Yeah No quips

from Cringer on the first transformation sequence.

This is before the midair one So this is a quote

-unquote family show, yet Alina's skirt is shorter

than I don't know what. That's why I like this.

She does look hot. I'm not saying she doesn't.

I'm just saying that skirt is a little high.

This episode is a success for two reasons. It

teaches kids subliminally not to do drugs, and

it teaches girls subliminally to wear short skirts.

No, that's it. Ladies and gentlemen, the one

and only optimus solo perverting up the podcast

what we do here in tales of Eternia. Yes Except

it would be different types of tales. Anyway,

what what didn't you like about this? Um, okay.

It happened twice in the episode. I Yeah, I would

have had it on here even if it had only happened

once but for it to happen twice in the same Episode

not too long away from each other kind of bugged

me and I don't think we could I would ask you

to capture this in an image form But I don't

know if it would be captureable It's almost something

where you have to see the video of it, but Tila

is on her horse And she gets bucked It's the

most artificial looking thing ever like a horse

Bucks you off. You're going to go flailing like

in any direction and your arms and legs are going

to be waving and you're going to go to the ground

like it when she just fall. No, it literally

looked like she had been launched from a catapult.

Like she went straight back and it looked very

fake. And then very shortly after that, Adam

gets bucked from his air car before he does the

mid air transformation. Right, and it looks exact

same. It looks like he's getting launched from

a catapult Like no, wait a second when Adam did

the mid -air transformation wasn't he hanging

on to the sphere? Oh wait, that's a different

part But he there is a part where he's in the

air car and he gets jettison from it Okay, he's

in one of the air cars and he gets basically

launched from it or whatever and both times They

do the same exact motion and they can't like

just completely launched backwards in a way that

would never Like the physics don't work on it

Um, it looks artificial. It looks fake. It looks

bad. And it happened twice in the same episode.

Um, I should look to see if I could try to somehow

capture, but you almost have to see the whole

motion to get what I'm saying. Yeah. You, yeah,

you need to see the whole, I mean, it's not like

I could, you know, specifically with Tila scene,

you can't just pause it as she's being bucked

because it wouldn't show you the trajectory and

everything. Well, it would show the trajectory.

It wouldn't show you the velocity of how she

shot off the horse. So if you're watching that

episode, look for those two moments and you will

definitely see what I'm talking about. When the

palace is shrinking, because basically that's

one of the devices they use. They're tricking

the palace. Everybody's going to get crushed

and whatever. There are people inside. The act

has just been done like the put the spell has

just been made or the you know The the trick

has just been done and that's that's causing

the palace to shrink the people inside Immediately

one of them I can't remember which person it

is but one of them says the palace is shrinking

I think it was it might have been the king or

the queen even might have been Tila I don't know

but somebody says the palace is shrinking at

that point. There was no way for anybody inside

to know what was happening They couldn't have

known that the palace was shrinking It wasn't

even to the stage yet where the walls were really

closing in that much, but even if they were You

I don't think your first instinct would be hey,

the whole palace is shrinking right now To me

your instinct would be why are the walls moving

or we're gonna get squished Like how do you know

that the entire palace is shrinking? How does

Matt Tracker know that it's venom every time.

I'm just saying, I just didn't buy that at someone

inside. It was almost like they were outside

seeing what we saw from the outside, but you

wouldn't necessarily know that from the inside.

I know it's a nitpick, but... No, I'm not saying

you can't have your nitpick, but I'm saying it's

one of those things where it's like... It's just...

Well, it's one of those things that, from a writer

standpoint, you're not separating yourself. from

the fact that you know the whole story. Right.

Like you know what's happening and you forgot

to separate yourself that all the characters

don't know that just because you just wrote that

he just you know whatever I can't remember what

he did some type of shrinking ray some type of

magical spell whatever just because you know

that just took place the other characters don't

and as a writer you have to keep that in mind

at all times. Yeah well we've proven in the past

and we'll prove here that this writer should

not write anymore. A couple other things. There

was a really long last scene. I don't know why

it was as long as it was. I don't know if they

were just trying to kill time, but if you're

watching it and watch for the last scene, it

takes way longer than it should. He -Man, again,

we have a way too simplified and easy ending

to this episode. He -Man basically just, we use

the whole, oh, He -Man made it overpower and

exploded. What That's Like Maybe this is another

element that I've seen before When we don't have

a way to finish our plot Whatever is being used

human will do something to make it overpowered.

It'll explode and everything will be saved. I

It didn't work in this episode. It was stupid

writing bad nah, and then to top it off my worst

scene of the episode The scene with Jarvan and

Alina Yeah at the end was all kinds awkward Yeah,

like I don't know if he was trying to rape her

If they were fighting, I don't know if they were

playing I don't know what was going on, but it

was awkward to watch I Don't know if you remember

what scene I'm talking about but no, I remember

it was a weird dance they did Slash fighting

slash grab her arm and force her. I don't know

Yikes. Yeah, yikes. That's just bad. Just just

horrible. All right, let's see if there are any

awards that we can bash over someone's head.

Your marksmanship leaves me cold, Jarvan. Little

heat should slow you down! It is awards time!

Do you have any power swords or havoc staff you're

gonna give out? As far as power swords, no one

stood out to me in this episode. No one really

caught my attention as someone that did something

fantastic or, you know, I mean, I liked Alina.

I liked Jarvan as a bad character. You know,

he went out of school, mid -air transformation,

et cetera, et cetera. But yeah, nobody did anything

that wowed me. So no power swords. And... You

know, even though there was parts of the plots

that reminded me of certain things or certain

things were awkward or certain Animation was

awkward. There wasn't necessarily a character

that did anything that I thought bugged the hell

out of me So again, I don't have any words for

this one Okay. Well as you know because I'm I

Surprised you with the very first time I did

it. I'm gonna do it again here I almost did it

a Havoc staff to the writers. I want to bash

over the I want to bash their brains out with

a fucking Havoc staff. The writer of this episode

apparently didn't know what they were writing

because it just, the writing is so horrid. You

know, I can, I can overlook certain animation

issues for the most part. You know, I can overlook,

you know, a misspoken word or, you know, whatever,

but just the story it's, and I know I'm contradicting

myself here. Yes. Agree with you. It was nice

that they did a drug centric story and said that

hey, you know kids don't do drugs I I agree with

that the rest of the actual plot of the story

and the rest of how the story Was was flushed

out was fucking just god -awful. I agree and

I thought about giving one out to him as well

You know, I mean this episode isn't complete

trash you know with the drug line plot I appreciate

and there's some other things that I don't like

despise this episode like I have one of his other

episodes um but the fact that he's written both

of those does not you know make me jump for joy

when I see that he's about to uh that I'm about

to view an episode that he's done um so yeah

he's yeah uh I I can only give this two orcos

out of five I can't give it any higher than that

I just Yes, Elena's hot, but even with her short

skirt, that still doesn't make up for shitty

writing. What about you? How many Battle Cats

are you going to give us? The drug issue, Elena

being hot and Jarvan being a decent evil character,

and the fact that we had an episode with no evil

warriors was kind of cool for a change, so I

was able to get it all the way up to three Battle

Cats. Alrighty then, so we're gonna move on to

the next episode. We better find him soon. According

to this, Daemar will spin a cocoon. And when

he comes out, his army of demons will come through

a pan -dimensional rift to conquer Eternia. Adam,

we need help! Up next is Daemar the Demon. Take

it away, plot man. I've graduated from plot boy

to plot man. Or am I always plot man? What the

fuck? When did I say plot boy? I said plot man.

Maybe that's just what I hear in my head. I gotta

have that Prince Adam part and the He -Man part.

Oh good lord. Daymar the Demon aired obviously

then the next day on Tuesday, September 27th,

1983 and it was a back -to -back helping of Bryn

Stevens as far as the writer goes. So we will

take that with a grain of salt and hope he does

better on this episode than he did on Clossar

Awakes and A Friend in Need. Alright, the plot.

Orko was bored with his own tricks. He examines

the sorceress. book of magic and innocently summons

Daemar so that he may have someone to play with.

The minuscule Daemar arrives, but his presence

causes the Dark Dimension to begin to affect

life on Eternia. Skeletor discovers that Daemar

is on Eternia and immediately plots to use him

to overthrow Castle Grayskull. Meanwhile, Orko

has discovered that Daemar has matured into his

true form and is intent on fulfilling his destiny

of evil. As far as the Masters go, same as we

had last episode, also have the sorceress in

there bad evil warriors since we didn't have

any last episode we got a couple of this episode

but only skeletor and evil lin um your thoughts

on the plot um i like this one i liked it better

than a friend in need i can tell you that um

um i like daymar as Orko's little friend. Once

he, you know, grows to the adult version, not

so much. Orko just need to leave shit alone.

He really does. I thought it was a clever idea

to use the whole Sorceress's book of magic and

that he accidentally, you know, whatever, and

Daemar is, you know, the cute little friendly

character and I like that he has the, that something

that cute and cuddly and whatever turns into

the... beast that he is and you know Skeletor

always being the the man to take advantage of

a situation obviously fits right in for him to

try to use Daymar so yeah I mean I didn't I didn't

mind the plot at all I actually kind of liked

the plot of this one and that that they basically

are gonna have to try to figure out a way to

get Daymar back to his younger form or to convince

him to not do something you know it's like one

of those things where You know the evil character

is not truly evil or at least that there's a

good Part of him somewhere, you know, it's that

battle where you're trying to find It's like

when Luke Skywalker is trying to find the good

and bring it out of the good out of Darth Vader

You know in order to kill the Emperor like it's

like, you know, it's in there somewhere. How

do we get to it? So I appreciate that plot line

Quick note on the writer, because I wanted to

make sure we were being factually correct. It's

a female, Jabrin Steven. That explains so much.

I'm just kidding. Not to go too far in -depth

on her, but apparently she was married for a

time to writer Michael Reeves. So maybe that's

where she got her bad writing as. Well, Michael

Reeves is usually somewhat decent. Yikes Are

they still together Not like I did that Wikipedia

doesn't say let's say maybe that's why they're

not together anymore Anyway, the PSA in this

one. I was trying to like find a category for

this one I guess it's about well from Prince

Adam not human, but Prince Adam does the PSA

I guess it's about having support systems having

friends and people that you can right back on

and Yeah, help you out in times of need Yep,

it's kind of a more of a vague one, but it was

all right. I Don't know this one could have almost

been tied to the one from last episode. Yeah

Because it goes cuz you know when you're in that

situation of either being on drugs or being You

know you know, having alcoholism, you know, you

obviously would need a friend at some point or

another. Right. Again, with this episode, with

this whole plot, it just... For me, it boils

down to Orko just needs to leave shit alone.

That's true. I mean, I know, I know he was bored,

I know he was tired of his own stuff. But still,

I just... I do find it funny whenever they because

you always hear that from kids like I'm bored

I'm bored they have like a million toys and like

a million things they can do outside and they're

like I'm bored and like this is just this is

what happens when you are bored when you shouldn't

be folks yeah overall I like I like the episode

I thought it was very very well done it's just

when you when you really analyze it down to its

core you know I feel like a broken record or

go just needs to leave shit alone He needs to

stay out of the palace as far as like the areas

that he's not like he's supposed to be the court

jester of Of the attorney because let's face

it. We've already seen to this point his powers

don't work very well on attorney They work fine

on trial, but they don't work great on attorney.

Yeah, and he just The court jester is not supposed

to be in the workshop messing with stuff and

yeah, especially magic that he knows nothing

about I'm gonna break So we are going to head

on over to Castle Grayskull Destiny. No, Damar.

Damar, you're wrong. You can create your own

destiny. You can change, if you really want to.

You and Orko are friends. Wouldn't you rather

have a life filled with friends? Being with those

who really care about you for yourself instead

of those who use you for their own selfish, violent

reasons? Think, Damar. Think! I don't like this

Skeletor! And you are a fool! Daemar was not

born to think only to serve his superiors! He

will follow my orders! Is that true Daemar? You

have an opportunity to change your destiny. Don't

pass it up. I don't want that jaw bridge to hit

you on the way in. So we have entered Grayskull

and uh... Yeah, Skeletor, the ever -power man.

Fuck, I fucked that up. God damn it. Take two.

Edit point. Shut the fuck up. Edit point, 56

minutes. Shut up, David. Christ, no longer will

do the fucking voice. You asshole. Yeah, Skeletor

the ever -power -hungry villain, yeah That was

bad cross between What's his name from? cops

Yeah, yeah big boss from cops and ganon from

Zelda So this is me the first time we've seen

evil in actually wants to go against bone brains

wishes. I like that I thought that was cool It's

interesting because to this point no one outside

of beastman has gone against him She said stuff

and she's had like little one -liners and whatnot

Right, but she's net like this is the first time

she's actively done it. Yeah. Yeah, I agree Damn

Daymar grew fast. Yeah Bodhi I Love see I don't

know what it is. It's not even a nostalgia point.

It's not even It's not even something that I

remember like back way back in episode one of

the show of the podcast when when, you know,

he man first does the job rich thing. I just

love seeing him standing in front of the castle.

I think that's a really, really iconic image.

Even without his sword drawn, just just seeing

him standing in front of Castle Grayskull, I

absolutely love that. I really do enjoy the whole.

Destiny versus choice of destiny talk what would

they Mar I thought that was great What about

you would you like about this I mean I like the

plot overall Like I said before I kind of like

Damar as a character and the two sides to him

Especially I'd like the design on the younger

version of him Like you kind of touched on there

was some very cool interactions between Skeletor

and Evelyn in this one. I love when Skeletor

it's like Evelyn's gonna doing whatever she's

doing in Skeletor basically is finding out about

it. And he's like, Eva -Lynn? I am not amused.

It's just funny how he said that. And then I

like the Eva -Lynn cocoon. Oh, the Daymar cocoon?

When Eva -Lynn became a cocoon. Wait, when Eva

-Lynn became a cocoon? What the hell? Yeah, when

they did the... Oh, God, what was it? There was

a point in there where the cocoon was like around

evil in basically I Don't remember that I'm gonna

have to go get a picture of it or something for

you Yeah, but there's an evil and cocoon I thought

there was a cool effect on he man when he was

talking to Deymar Yeah, Deymar the bigger monster

thing when he's trying to talk to him that they

did a cool visual to kind of like show What was

happening there? And then I thought it was also

just overall a decent episode with the coloring

and effects if there was a highlight of this

episode I think it was like Actually in the design

the coloring that they use the effects that they

use it would look very vibrant And very cool

for an 80s early 80s cartoon. Oh, yeah, and lastly

I thought it was cool having a foe that neither

Skeletor nor human could control and That really

neither of them were gonna be able to beat Yeah,

so it had to come down to you know persuasion

and more of a mental part So I you know all the

other times there's been someone that basically

one of the sides has been able to manipulate

control Use some type of spell on or just out

power overpower physically So this was a different

type of foe that we really haven't seen before

Yeah, and it was and it was very very interesting

for it. So that's all I had All right, turn out

that light it's time to go this thing on These

power searchers are changing reality! They drained

my strength for a moment! I must have this power!

Find it for me, and quickly! There's too many

wolf bats here in Snake Mountain. God damn it,

Skeletor. Alright, first up, the side -scrolling

walking scene with the entire royal court is

just horrid. Each character has such weird -looking

movements. Yeah, that really accentuates it.

We've, Noel, we've talked about the side -scrolling,

walking, and running before. I've said that the

running in any of the characters, outside of

Skeletor, it looks like they're on fucking treadmills.

You know, something like that. But each of the

royal court characters, man -in -arms, the king,

Adam, Tila, the queen, all of them. They all

have such horrid side -scrolling walking movements.

They're just so bad in that scene. Why the fuck

does Skeletor ask Daemar who he is? He did say

the name in the book, didn't he? Because Skeletor

looks right at the fucking page that Daemar came

from, and on that page, next to the fucking picture,

says Daemar. Does he really not know the dude's

name seriously? Um Really Evelyn ropes to trap

Daymar and then he traps you in a cocoon. Okay.

Yes. I know you like the cocoon bit Okay, I get

that was good. But seriously little mini ropes

to trap this giant thing and then Dumb blonde

bitch. He man does the same fucking thing. He

throws a fucking bolo at Is same effect nothing.

Yeah, that's true. I just Anyone want to use

Bolo? What didn't you like about this one? Okay

well this is another slight example of Miss J.

Bryn Stevens not knowing anything about how these

characters have developed up to this point. Skeletor

has technology and like electronic instruments

in his... Snake Mountain lair like Usually uses

magic or sorcery or it's like, you know bacon

basically I'd like the whole effect of looking

into the crystal ball or looking into the cauldron

to see what he needs to see now all of a sudden

in this episode we have like a computer basically

with awful computer graphics being displayed

that Skeletor is using to figure out what's going

on Yeah, that just is way out of place Skeletor

is not technology guy he's a freaking evil wizard

so that's just off um okay well I like some of

the interaction between Skeletor and Evelyn in

this episode and I will you know there's some

funny lines and whatnot where I do have a slight

problem is when she actually decides to do her

confrontation what was her plan exactly Did she

think Skeletor was just going to let her shoot

him? Like, she basically is like, ah, this will

do it, and she just like, shoots some measly

thing at Skeletor. Like, that is your plan? Like...

That that you're you're a major you're you have

magical powers you have evil magic just like

Skeletor does You're and to this point have been

somewhat portrayed as a somewhat intelligent

character Your plan is to stand from a distance

and shoot something at Skeletor and that is going

to solve everything You know like Skeletor has

made it painfully obvious that no one's gonna

be able to just shoot him from a distance He

has magic he has ways to just put his hand out

and be like nope not happening. Um, yeah Bad

execution evil in and that bitch needs to get

in there and stab him with a knife at point -blank

range. Oh, wait That happened in Dark Knight

Rises. Whoops. Um, the little demon guys not

Daymar, but the little Demon bats coming from

the fifth dimension or whatever the fuck this

that was horrible Yeah, the design was horrible.

The look was horrible. It didn't even look like

it was part of the same universe I mean, I know

they were coming from a different part of the

universe, but what? It was almost as bad as the

creeping Horak. It is on par with that We're

gonna have a whole list of examples of the worst

animation that we see in this series the creeping

Horak These little demon bats are both making

that list There was also an awkward scene with

Orko when he was clapping Yeah, that was a little

I don't know how people clap like that No, and

he was going very crazy So yeah, those are my

major problems. Skeletor should not have technology

in his in his snake mountain The only reason

why not necessarily you can certainly have that

opinion that if that's your opinion that's that's

fine The only reason why I would say that he

does have technology is because both sides the

good guys and the bad guys have technology because

at one point I don't think it was in this episode

but at one point there was an episode we might

have already covered it where a man in arms says

something about this is some thing I forget what

it was kept the balance of the science and the

sorcery. Right, I get that. And I have no problem

with it being from the good side because Man

in Arms is a tinker, he's an inventor, he's a

gadget guy. But Skeletor doesn't need it. I know

he doesn't need it, but I'm saying that because

they're saying that this is, you know, sci -fi

as well as fantasy. Right, I get that. But if

you want to introduce it into Snake Mountain,

it should be coming from, like, let's say, like,

Trek. uh... clasps or trash raps are trapped

on here you're going to be going from evil in

a skeletal or beastman beastman would know that's

what i'm saying and others have magic so they

don't need it they can just like look out and

see what's happening yeah that's true alright

let's uh... go see if we can find some awards

for this episode Haven't had the last laugh yet

It's time to hand out some awards also give out

our readings of this episode Do you have any

power swords or havoc staff here near out? Yeah,

not the S &M style though Shut up. All right.

That's an inside joke that nobody will get excellent

great content Power staff I'm gonna give one

out since I didn't give one out last episode

and I'm going our sword you mean I even wrote

it power staff in my script power sword that's

the good kind it's not a combination and we're

gonna give it out to Daymar because I liked him

as a character I liked him as the evil slash

good kind of struggle going on there I liked

it that no one could control him no one could

beat him and that oracle brought him into the

place and it was just I don't know I just like

Daymar overall You fucking copycat. Yeah Yeah,

I gotta give a power so today more to more so

for him finally realizing that he could choose

his own destiny and not just be You know what

I mean? You know after you know where you could

just choose for himself. We definitely have a

lot of this side of his character Yeah, we did.

This is very very cool for me overall I didn't

like the episode a lot I think it's great there

isn't really outside of like little nitpicks

like you know what did I say here earlier like

the side scrolling animation is that I I know

that shits gonna happen every episode or not

every episode but every time it happens I know

what's gonna happen so I honestly I really enjoyed

this one I thought it was great I thought it

was nice that we had you know kind of an orco

centric episode here so I'm gonna give this four

to five orcos For me, it's just barely above

the one we just talked about You know, it doesn't

have some of the things that like I'd like the

friend in needs drug plotline and stuff like

that But it had way too many things that were

wrong with it, but Damar the demon You know,

I didn't Didn't have huge problems with it, but

it didn't do anything for me specifically. So

I'm gonna give it a three and a half We are gonna

move on The scent of dragon is strong, He -Man.

I guess we should announce ourselves. Gran of

Air! I am He -Man, great dragon, and I am here

to ask your aid. He -Man? I have heard your name

whispered on the winds of legend. In that case...

Silence! I did not say I respected the name,

only that I had heard it. Dragons pay little

attention to the lies of legend. Granamir, please!

You've got to help us! And who is this little

girl who presumes to speak without my permission?

I am Teela, captain of the Royal Guard, and I

will speak as I please. We shall see how your

tongue wags when my magic sends you to the realm

of demons. We don't want to fight you, but we

will if that's what it takes to make you listen.

Granamir does not fight humans. Granamir wins.

I can't break loose! Enough! You have courage.

Something I have seen in very few of your race.

I will listen to what you have to say. My friend,

Man -at -Arms, has been turned into a crystal

statue by evil magic. I'm told you might know

how to undo the spell. Might? Am I not the wisest

creature of all Eternia? Do I not know magics

that were forgotten before humankind ever walked

this world? Then you can reverse the magic? Of

course I can. It's poor magic at best, but I

see no reason to trouble myself over a single

human. It has been a thousand years since I last

spoke with humans. I found them vain, greedy,

warlike, untruthful and quite ugly. They barged

into my home, they begged for my help and when

I gave it, they never appreciated it. No thanks,

not even a gift. You seem no different. If a

gift would help convince you, name it. There

is something anything in the center of the forgotten

forest stands Skytree the oldest tree on Eternia

and the only thing in all the world Older than

me chop it down and bring it to me as a gift

so I can watch it burn in my fire pit agree You'll

save men of arms. I shall Consider it agreed

When you wish to return here speak my name and

Remember you have given your word to a dragon

fail to bring me my gift and I will send you

to the realm of demons Finally up today is the

dragon's gift take it away plot man. All right

hump day Wednesday, September 28th the 1983 for

the dragon's gift And we have a return writer

here that we're very familiar with. He wrote

The Time Corridor, and now he's written The Dragon's

Gift, and that is none other than Larry D 'Itilio.

Wow. Really? I had... I completely forgot he

wrote Time Corridor. Because I was thinking when

I got to this one, I was thinking, ooh, this

is the first Larry D 'Itilio episode we're going

to see. Second. Yeah. Well, obviously, I know

that now, but... Always remember this episode

the most because before you really get into the

plot just talking about Larry here Because of

the fact that when they did the interviews on

the BCI DVD sets the the original sets He always

said that he you know, he loves riding dragons

he loves the sword and sorcery stuff and everything

else so I knew The grand amir stuff and the and

the dragon stuff was all his writing. I already

knew it before I even went back and and and watched

this I knew it was gonna be him I wasn't surprised

at all that that his name popped up according

to him. This was the best episode in his opinion

that he wrote He says that this is the one he

likes the most or he thinks he did the best job

with Right. Um, so the plot for the dragon's

gift skeletor infiltrates the royal palace and

uses a magical a magic crystal to transform Man

-at -Arms into a crystalline statue. Tila disappearing

at their father's plight joins He -Man as he

journeys to Castle Grey Skull seeking the answer

from the Sorceress of how to save Man -at -Arms.

Unable to restore Man -at -Arms, the Sorceress

informs them of Granimir, the oldest and wisest

dragon could restore basically Man -at -Arms,

hopefully. He's the oldest and wisest of the

dragons of Dark Smoke. You might know the answer.

After overcoming many obstacles, He -Man and

Teela arrive at Dark Smoke and discover that

Granamir will only help in exchange for a gift.

A gift that He -Man simply cannot provide. So

basically, we have our regular group of heroes,

like we have in every episode, including the

king and the sorceress. Bad characters, we only

have Skeletor at the beginning. Right and then

the rest is all Granamir and some other characters

that we run into Including the likes of ice trolls

And there's some there's a Plethora of interesting

characters that come in here including the the

tree. I forget what they call the tree It's tree

of life or tree of life and ice trolls and Granamir

and whatever I Thought this was a very excellent

plot Though I again for some reason I was absolutely

convinced that I'd already seen Grand Amir in

an episode Not the way we've been watching them.

We have this I must have watched this episode

at some point then Since my childhood because

I'm like I was convinced that I had just seen

an episode since we started this with Grand Amir

Thought I remembered trying to like type his

name into a script somewhere I already had his

picture on behind the voice actors before we

got to this episode So I was convinced that I

had already seen this episode and I somehow had

this in the wrong spot again but Apparently this

is his first appearance Yeah, so I'm losing my

freaking mind Well, I mean we've seen other dragons.

Maybe I'm confusing him with another dragon or

something. I don't know Yeah, well the only of

the dragons we've seen to this point were the

baby dragons that that skill at or wanted to

Well, there was the dragons the dragon that had

the dragons pearl or the dragons Right that that

was the baby. Yeah, so I don't know I guess I'm

losing my mind, but I thought it was an excellent

a plot especially when it comes down to the last

third or half of the episode when it is He -Man

in a position where he wants to save Man -at

-Arms. So he has to try to make a deal with Granamir,

but he can't take a life in order to save a life.

So he's really at a conundrum there and I thought

that was excellently played out. So I really

enjoyed the plot here. Yeah, the plot is very,

very well written out. I really, really liked

it. I like the twist at the end with Granamere.

I thought that was really great. And we'll kind

of get to that, but the whole twist here is he

wants a gift, and his gift would be for He -Man

to destroy something, and He -Man's like, I just

can't. And because Granamir has essentially lost

all hope for humanity. Which, who can blame him

because we are a bunch of savages. But it's one

of those things where just overall the plot is

just so, so good. So well written. We're not

just saying that because it's Larry Dottilio.

No, no, no, no, no. It's really, really good

writing. It's because of the fact that it's just

so damn good. It's a He -Man story that has,

obviously, beginning, middle, and end, but it

does it well. It flows from point to point to

point to point to point. Characters stay true

to themselves. We don't see someone acting out

of character in character development. We get

a lot of stuff in this episode that make it a

good episode. In the PSA we get Tila telling

us to value all life, including plant life and

animals and humans and everything. Yes. Before

we move off of the PSA and everything else, speaking

of Granamir, he is finally getting his own action

figure in the Masters of the Universe Classics

line from MaddieCollector .com. And Jesus Christ,

does this toy look amazing. It looks so good

and it's it's essentially They essentially took

him straight out of the episode So damn good

So damn good So, all right Let's see what secrets

we will find in grayskull. Where's Prince Adam?

Well, I'm sure he'll be here your majesty. He's

been very busy lately government problems I wouldn't

call Lady Amanda a government problem. Hush,

child. Alright, so I'll let you go first this

time around here at Grayskull. What do you got

for good points for Granamir's debut? The dragon's

gift highlights, I thought, first of all, we

see a cool moment from Cringer there when they're

gonna go after, meet up with Granamir and he

would rather go to a fish fry. Yeah. I thought

that was great. Funny moment from Cringer, he

has like these hidden gems in episodes every

once in a while. even though he's not the comedic

relief. I love the fact that they have to look

at library books in order to figure out what

to do. You know, I'm not saying it's perfectly

executed or whatnot, but I just like the fact

that they're tying in the value of reading and

looking in a book sometimes for your answers

instead of just relying on other people. Right,

right. I absolutely absolutely love That they

actually show us a glimpse of a map of Eternia

I don't care how poorly the maps drawn How cheesy

am I look I always have had that that vague idea

of you know Not just in this cartoon, but in

a lot of cartoons especially in the 80s action

fantasy realm where it's like What does this

world consist of? I need to know because otherwise

to me, the writers are just reinventing a new

environment, a new place, a new portion of the

globe that is just, you know, they're just free

to invent something. You know, it's like, oh,

all of a sudden we're going to have the forest

of craziness off to the east of the mountains

of doom, which never existed before. And they

must be by, you know, like there's 8 ,000 different

places. And I always want some type of visualization

of, no, it all fits into this map. It all fits

into this world. And we get a glimpse of one

here. I don't know if you would be able to get

it, but if you go on eBay and you look up Masters

of the Universe Classics map of Eternia, with

one of the subscription -only figures that Masters

Classics had, they each Club sub figure that

usually you can only get unless you go to eBay

You can only get it through getting the club

subscription each of them comes with a map They've

released the map of attorney a map of a theory

a map of subternia So I'm sure at some point

if you were so inclined not necessarily saying

you're gonna buy it But so inclined to look on

eBay for Masters universe classics map of attorney.

You'd be able to get a more in -depth We'll see

I'd wanted to be curious to see how much it matches

up with this one this one You know it almost

has the idea of an equator going through the

middle with almost like a North America South

America portion of the world And it shows the

palace it shows Castle Grayskull It shows you

know where the fertile plains are the desert

some it has like four different mountain ranges

Some jungles a polar caps etc. I do find it funny

though because in this specific journey And the

way he meant says that he's like we'll just have

to go past the dark mountains And then through

the mystic mountains to the ice mountains. I'm

like what was everything? There's way too many

mountains that we're dealing with but uh, yeah

I just thought it was cool that we finally got

to see a map of Eternia Yeah, it was awesome.

I love also the use of Skeletor in this episode

Yeah, thank you. They basically got Skeletor

in this episode. He is You know, the reason for...

It's basically like this. It gives you the idea

that Skeletor is always doing stuff. Sometimes

we come in at different points in his tricks.

Like, there might be an episode where we see

his tricks from beginning to end. This shows

that, hey, it's like we're looking in a he -man

and we're seeing the tail end of one of Skeletor's

things. So he was doing this even when we weren't

watching. He introduces us to the main question

of the episode, which is how do we save man -at

-arms? And then we don't see Skeletor anymore.

So I love that they used him like that. It was

clever. It's like we can have the bad guy in

there but not have it centered around him. Right,

yeah. So I like that. Unlike a certain other

80s cartoon they tried to review. I thought Granamere

was absolutely hilarious in this episode. He

was. I love his voice. Yes. Of the delivery of

the voice. I love his lines. And, Granny Mirror,

you'll love this one, predates Charlie Sheen,

because there's a line in here where he just

simply says that he wins. Oh, yeah. He's winning.

I don't ever... Block that asshole out of my

mind and every time Steve brings it up. I just

kind of roll my eyes Yeah, I Love that we got

to see more of Eternia You know the ice trolls

in the ice area and we got to see where Granomere

was and we got to see the tree of life or whatever

in Wherever he was at you know so I'd like that

we got to see these different environments and

in the People that were in these environments.

That was very cool Skytree. It was called Skytree

not tree. That's what it is. Um, and I love Skytree

that was a kick -ass character and The best,

you know, it almost reminds me and I'm not trying

to step on your toes here But it almost reminds

me of when when he man's like, I'm sorry. We

have to cut it down the the ice troll or The

guy the keeper the keeper of the tree He almost

starts breaking down crying, just like the dude...

Rancor's guard. Oh, yeah. He starts crying after

the Rancor died, didn't he? That's a good analogy

for once. What? I said that's a good analogy.

Shut up! I've got analogies, damn it. And through

the use of Granamir and Skytree and Man -At -Arms,

this episode serves as absolutely great character

development for He -Man. Oh, it does, yeah. We

get to see... He man battling with himself, you

know, he is being prodded by man -at -arms You

know daughter basically Tila is is prodding him

to you know, we have to save men -at -arms It's

it's one of his best friends, you know, it's

his loyal You know warrior advisors second -in

-command type deal and you know, so he wants

him to be back He also so that persuades him

to make the deal with Granomere Now we have an

issue where not only does he want man -at -arms

back, but he has now given his word to Granamir.

So he's made a deal with him that he has to either

stay true or break his vow or his promise to

Granamir. Then he's confronted with the whole

fact that it's not just some tree. This is a

living creature. This is a living creature. It's

the tree that gives life to everything in that

forest. And not only that, he has to decide whether

to kill it or not. And then it doesn't put up

a fight. Right, yeah. Then it says, hey, you

know, you've given me a legit reason. You want

your friend to live, take me. And then He -Man,

you know, I can't do that. And then he has to

go back and deal with Granny Mary. It's just

amazing character development for He -Man. And

what is he going to do and what is he not willing

to do? Right now that you bring up the whole

the tree just lets him do what he's gonna do

Ben no Obi -Wan stops Vator just vanquishes him

right there I would legitimately put Sky tree

as something. He's just in a long line of awesome

tree characters. We had awesome tree characters

in the original Lord of the Rings trilogy You

know, there's been a couple other instances where

we've had very cool tree characters. Skytree

is also a very cool Wythe Beyond the Seers character.

Was there a tree character in Neverending Story,

one or two? I forget, yeah. That's the other

one. That's the one he reminded me of the most,

actually. Neverending Stories, yeah. So just

great character development and great characters.

Oh yeah, most definitely. For me I forget what

Tila said, but man -in -arms is like hush child.

I just love that he essentially told you to shut

the hell up Just the way that he said it. I thought

it was hilarious Because the entire beginning

of this episode is funny It just is Everything

about that that first five minutes is hilarious

to me And I really do like that man -at -arms

actually recognizes Skeletor almost right off

the bat. Yeah, I Thought that was that was good

And I again I like that It's not often that we

see Tila fight if it is she's training or she's

trying to train Adam Or she's fighting, you know,

evil in or beast man or you know, but Tila versus

Skeletor that was even though it's a minuscule

sword battle That was still pretty damn cool

seeing the two of them go at it. That was the

idea of it was cool Yeah, the execution was a

little much Yeah So, okay, here we go it was

in this episode that's right There was one hell

of a creepy battle cat image in this episode

It looks like he's yawning which I'm assuming

that's what he's doing But the way the animation

is done it it looks like he's ready to bite someone's

head off It really really does the picture will

be in the post. You'll be able to see it. I got

locked on to that Because it was the scene where

he is in the back of the wind Raider with he

man He man's like, are you ready to do he he

may ask him something? And he starts to yawn

and just the way the animation is on battle cat

yawning and the fact that he's looking right

at the camera it just makes it look like he's

ready to Just use those teeth on someone. I Kind

of already mentioned this Granamere did nail

humankind That's pretty friggin accurate But

I always love it in stuff like this. It happened

a whole whole lot in Star Trek especially the

next generation Where an alien race or an alien

creature is able to point out? The bigger picture

and the flaws of mankind Yeah, it's very cool

Yes, it is so we are going to enter the mouth

of the snake We are at snake mountain here, and

I only have three they're pretty big ones So

I'm gonna go ahead and take it on this one after

the sorceress says good luck to the he -man logo

This is one of your mask things after the sorceress

says good luck the he -man logo transition takes

more than five seconds to appear I honestly felt

like I was watching mask for a minute because

there's a blanks. There's this black screen for

like five seconds Yeah, it was weird He man just

said that the Dragons fire pit was on the other

side of the door Yeah, battle cat says the sense

of dragons is strong in here after they get into

the room. What the fuck seriously That makes

no friggin sense if he man says that the Dragons

fire pit is on the other side of the room And

yet when they're in the room battle cat then

says he has the sense of dragons He's in here

somewhere He's in the fire pit Granary is one

huge -ass dragon. So when he lowers himself into

his pit, you'd think the animation would reflect

his size, but no because When he's out like in

the room and sitting down or stay whatever the

hell his his posture is when he's going back

down it just shows him lowering himself it doesn't

show him standing up and then you know flying

or whatever it just it was just a weird weird

animation thing it doesn't take away from my

enjoyment of the episode but it was just one

of those just really really weird animation movements

i guess i did like how he was like don't bother

me again yeah yeah exactly don't ever come back

here what didn't you like about this one anything

interesting episode because everything that i

didn't i thought i didn't like and i wrote down

that i didn't like then i had to erase because

they dealt with it or they You know touched on

it or they corrected it or whatever So I was

left with a not a lot of stuff the only thing

I can say and I know you kind of had it as one

of your highlights But I thought that was the

lamest ass sword fight between Tila and Skeletor

ever seen it looked retarded I mean, I like the

idea of having them fight, but that was terrible

They know no Tila looked like she was having

some woman issues that she couldn't fight like

a real person and Skeletor looked like he was

taking it easy on her. It was all slow motion,

awkward, terrible. Talk about bleeding on the

blade. Oh my god. We have just become a new podcast.

It was that time of the month, bro. It was just

a bad fight, dang it. The only thing I have to

bad to say about this episode was that fight

sequence was terrible. Okay. Alright, so it is

awards time, yay! You said you would have done

exactly the same, father. Dragons seem to have

a very strange way of doing things. That's the

truth. You know, I'd like to meet that grandma

there. What do you say, Cringer? Should we go

hunting a dragon? Not me. It looks like Cringer's

made a good choice too. Alright, so let's go

ahead and give out some awards. What do you got,

anything? Yeah, I got to give a co -award. We're

gonna give a power sword out. And to me, these

two characters together made the episode without

them and without their execution, delivery, design,

vocal, delivery, everything. Without these two

characters executed exactly how they were, this

episode does not work. And that is Granamir and

Skytree. So I'm gonna give a power sword out

to each of them. I'm gonna give out three power

swords. It's almost illegal. No, it's not. It

almost is illegal. No, it's not. I'm gonna give

out three power swords. As you just said, one

each for me to to to Grand Manor and Skytree,

I agree with you. It's without their performances,

this episode would have been so bland. But I

also have to command Larry to tell you for the

writing and give him one because it's just an

amazingly written episode as I said before. Agreed.

What do you rank this one? How many battle cats?

You know, it was close to perfect episode, but

it wasn't quite. It was damn good though, so

I'll give it a four and a half. I'm giving it

a five out of five or goes. I absolutely love

that. I thought it was great This is an episode.

I would most definitely be watching again This

is in the running for top episodes of the series

so far Along with you know There's there's a

few that I've risen to the top and if we were

making like a top ten list of all human episodes

I think we have at least two nominees so far

This being one. Yeah exactly So with that it's

gonna bring us to a close for this one We're

gonna go to a commercial break and then we'll

come back with our overall thoughts on the series

so far and Other information where you can find

the show we'll be back after this in today's

story Elena tried taking a magic potion which

she thought would help her Well, she found out

Damar was really quite a fellow, wasn't he? Orko

had no idea just what he was getting into with

his mixed -up magic spell. But he soon found

out that he'd let something loose he couldn't

handle. Now, we know that in real life there

aren't any magic spells or demons, but there

are problems. And just like Orko, sometimes you'll

find you've got one that's too big for you to

handle. At times like that, remember, there are

a lot of people out there who really care about

you. So talk to them. Telling them what's wrong

is the first step toward making things right.

Today He -Man had to decide whether or not to

chop down a tree. Now the trees around you probably

don't speak the way Skytree did. Or if they do,

we haven't learned to hear them. Yet. But trees

are living things and when you respect a tree

you show that you care about all life Life is

a wonderful precious gift learn to enjoy and

respect it and you'll be a happier better person

we are back and as we do each episode at the

end, uh... Give our thoughts overall on the series

so far. What about you? What are your overall

thoughts to this point? I mean, I don't want

to sound like a broken record. It's a lot of

the same thoughts I've been having recently in

the last couple episodes. I mean, I love that

we got a little bit more defined look at what

Eternia consists of, what the map showed us with

that. We did get a little bit more character

development here and there with He -Man. Not

really much else with the other characters. Really

was a set of three episodes that we didn't get

to see hardly any of the other evil warriors

outside of Evil Lin do anything significant.

So I'm still really wanting to get into, you

know, a triclops -centered episode or a trap

-jaw -centered episode or even on the other side,

a Stratos or more so like a Ram -Man, like where

the hell has he been? So, you know, I'd like

to see something like that or I'd like to see

some new characters. I'd like to get, you know,

something to do with little bit to break the

norm of What we've been getting so far not that

I've I've truly enjoyed most of what we've seen

Outside of a few episodes here and there and

you know the first two episodes We talked today

about today to me weren't super strong, but it

was saved by the last episode But yeah, I'd like

to I'd like to just learn a little bit more about

some of these other characters And I do have

one other thing that just dawned on me this episode

that is completely irrelevant but Cuz I know

Prince Adam looks like he meant to so that should

give it away, but Even if we can buy the whole

Nobody understands Adam's he man because human

is a lot stronger and looks slightly different

and talks in a deeper voice Why can't nobody

put two and two together with Cringer and battle

cat? I know it's just a mask and a friggin sad.

I mean how many other giant green? Yellow striped

yeah tiger type Why lion type whatever tiger

basically a tiger? There's no other tigers running

around Eternia There's only these two They have

the same color pattern Let's put yeah people.

I Know you have to accept that too. No. No. Yeah.

No, you're no No, but you're right though because

the whole thing of in the episode where Cringer

ran away and down the other side of the hallway

and the power bounced off the wall to find him

to transform him. What if someone was down that

other side of the hallway? Why wouldn't they

have seen that? I mean, I can give you a fine.

I'll accept that no one can put two and two together

as far as Adam and He -Man. We accept that all

over the place with superheroes, comic book characters,

et cetera, that have alter egos. But to me, it's

a little bit more of a stretch to not do the

big giant tiger connection. Yeah, that's all

anyways, I just wanted to get that out of the

way As we have progressed I'm still really loving

the series I can't wait to see where each episode

goes and each time we review it There have been

some great new characters introduced and in development

of the main characters continues to be done.

Well I'm hoping that they continue. I actually

like not see yeah, I I do agree with you to a

certain extent I do want to see stuff from trap

jaw and triclops and some of the wars that we

haven't really seen too much of But at the same

time, I'm glad that they're finally stepping

away and telling different stories Instead of

as I said earlier in this episode instead of

oh, hey, what's the Skeletor's plot of the week?

And I think you get that if the That's what happens,

and I would be with you, if the episodes are

just simply appearances by those other characters.

I don't need Skeletor to have a plot of the week

and that we just see Trap John, Triclops, or

we just see... Oh, no, no, no, no, no. I agree.

Those, to me, are pointless episodes. Not pointless,

but those are the throwaway episodes. But it's

different if we have them appear and it's actually

something that gets into that specific character.

Well, that's what I'm saying. Yes, I want to

see that, but at the same time, I'm also happy

that we're not just getting Skeletor plot of

the week. I like that they're introducing these

other enemies of He -Man that could find out

his secret identity that the sorcerer, you know

what I mean? Other people other than the snake

mountain crew. Anything else cuz I mean over

pretty much ladies and gentlemen We're pretty

much gonna probably say the same things to this

point as far as our overall thoughts There has

not been a single episode for either of us. I

don't think that we've said fuck this series

I'm done, right, you know I mean it just hasn't

because it's episodes where we're like we need

to turn things around folks. We're still steadily

At the same pace, we're riding that train and

it's still going upward and nothing's detoured

yet. There may be one or two out of three episodes

that we don't like or there may just be one out

of three episodes we don't like, but to this

point in six episodes of the podcast, we've never

outright hated all three episodes that we talked

about. Whereas in that other show it's a completely

different story. Um, you've reached your reference

limit quota So any other final thoughts looking

forward to next episodes episodes Yes Thank you
