About this Episode

OptimusSolo and TFG1Mike discuss three Eternia episodes: Evil-Lyn's Plot, where Skeletor seeks to weaponize Chordite for unprecedented power; Dawn of Dragoon, a journey to Orko's home world of Trolla and its mysterious native villain; and Prince Adam Is No More, exploring character development across Prince Adam, King Randor, and Beastman as internal conflicts drive the narrative.

and the Masters of the Universe! I am Adam, Prince

of Eternia and defender of the secrets of Castle

Grayskull. This is Cringer, my fearless friend.

Fabulous secret powers were revealed to me the

day I held aloft my magic sword and said, By

the power of Grayskull! I was born a mighty battle

cat and I became He -Man, the most powerful man

in the universe. Only three others share this

secret. Our friends, the Sorceress, Planet Arms,

and Orko. Together we defend Castle Grayskull

from the evil forces of Skeletor. Hello, this

is Optimus Solo and welcome to the fifth Chapter

and tales of Eternia with me for this journey

as always into the Masters of the universe franchise

is none other Than TFG one Mike himself. Hello.

Yes. Hello. Are you a little disclaimer? We've

been we've kind of been off between episode four

and five, you know Thanksgiving holiday type

of stuff Thanksgiving to my birthday. Sorry folks.

Yeah. Yeah Kevin had a birthday. He's like 50

something now. I guess dirt. I'm old as Eternia

Yes, exactly. And also I wanted to let everybody

know that most likely there may only be one episode

left in 2012 for Tales. It just depends on what

Kevin's schedule is for holiday stuff. I don't

know, and plus everything else I've got going

on with M -Wire and the Year in Review show coming

up for GCR. So this might be the final Tales

of Eternia for 2012. We don't know yet. We're

going to play it by ear and see what we can do.

I'm going to have some Christmas presents for

you. Who knows? Yeah, exactly. So are you ready

sir for the powers of grace? I'll call the powers

of grace Yes, all right in this episode of tales

of eternity we'll be giving you our thoughts

on episode 13 evil Lynn's plot episode 14 dawn

of the Dragoon not dragon and episode 15 Prince

Adam no more So we hope you're ready because

it's time to go back To eternity. Squinch! Who

goes there? Put that pigstick down before you

hurt someone. Oh, sorry, Kendo. You're here to

guard the fort, not play games? Uh, yes sir,

sir. All's well up here, huh? Oh, shucks. It's

quieter than a flea's hiccup. Well, with what

we're guarding in our minds, we can't be too

careful. widget's fortress once i break in i'll

get what i need to finish he man once and for

all forward my luckies in the name of destruction

all right so starting with episode 13 evil lin's

plot so what is the plot to evil lin's plot i

realized that when i copied that into the script

that it's like evil evil lin's plot plot anyway

It's a plot -sing plot synopsis. the only place

a Skeletor would have been able to melt the Chordite

and use it. And he is trying to mold the Chordite

to become a part of his armor, which will give

him incredible strength and allow him to beat

He -Man. And He -Man and the Widgets must stop

him in doing so. So that is the plot for Eva

Lin's plot. The air date for this episode was

September 21, 1983. And the writer was the familiar

Paul Dini. who also wrote two other episodes

we've already talked about, Teela's Quest and

Creatures from the Tar Swamp. Sir, your thoughts

on Evil Lin's plot? When watching these on Netflix,

mainly because I'm trying, unless I've heard

the music cue before in the intro, like when

you see the title card, unless I've heard it

before, I try to grab it for the audio. Try to

remember to look and see who the writer is I

didn't on this one, but after Realizing that

it's Dini. I see where all the humor comes from

in this episode This would have been your midweek

Episode this would have been Wednesday. Yeah,

so it's a hump day episode episode Your main

characters here. You're gonna have Skeletor Evil

in Beastman Merman and panther for the bad guys

and for your good guys you get He -man slash

Prince Adam battle class slash cringer and the

sorceress So you're not getting any of the other

masters in this one, right? It's somewhat interesting

Yeah, as far as the plot goes for me I thought

it was interesting to use Introduce us to a mineral

of Eternia. This isn't just like some like device

of the week Even though it kind of is it's not

really it's not just like someone build this

gadget for this week or We found this emulate

that has power for this week The reason it's

different is because they're introducing this

thing But then it also has significance because

it has a past and that's what he man's harness

is made from Right, so I like that they did that

I like that We see the juxtaposition of Skeletor

being just as powerful as He -Man, even if it

be ever so slightly, you know, short time period

here. But for a while we get to see Skeletor

as powerful, if not more powerful than He -Man.

And we get to see how that plays out. So from

a plot wise, I think there's interesting things

that they do with this. I realized that Eva -Lynn

is the one that, that goes under the disguise

and gets the Chordite. I don't necessarily see

this as an Evil Lin episode though. You know

what I mean? Like, okay, like I know, I'm not

saying that's anything bad, but you know, Paul

Dini was the one that wrote Tila's Quest, which

was an episode basically that was all about Tila.

So when I saw that this one was written by the

same person that was entitled Evil Lin's Plot,

I'm thinking... We're gonna get a whole lot of

evil in and to me She doesn't do much more than

she does in any other episode where she comes

under disguise and and uses that to do this or

that Like we've seen she did a little bit more

here because she's got a trick though, you know,

she turns into this hot chick Yeah, and she's

got a trick a little you know But how does it

any different than when she turned into the old

hag and and sure, you know? Trick the townspeople

into thinking that man -at -arms and all those

people were bad It's basically the same thing.

So I don't see it necessarily as an Evil Lynn

episode. But I'm not saying that's bad or anything

wrong with it. I just think it's a little bit

throws you off with the title of the episode.

But plot -wise, I have no problem with this as

a plot for an episode. I don't either. I really

liked it. I think it was done better here with

Skeletor getting a huge amount of power versus

that other episode that you didn't like where

he grew. Yeah, that was weird. Um, so I thought

it was better here. Agreed. You know, and it

was interesting to not see the rest of the Masters

to just basically have a He -Man episode. It's

He -Man on his own with the widgets, which I

guess we didn't really talk about the widgets.

You know, this episode and its plot introduces

us to a new set of characters, a new set of people

that live on Eternia. We've never heard about

them before, but apparently widgets are there.

It's a weird name. They're kind of like dwarf

-like characters. But they were kind of interesting

and funny and... Ewokie. They're essentially,

um... Get it. Widget. Ewokie. Yes. Yes, I got

it. They're essentially human burbles. You went

there. I went with Ewoks, you went with burbles.

Thundercats, oh! Alright, let's get out of where

we're at right now, because it's like we're in

a swamp here. Let's go over to Castle X. Let's

see you pick on someone your own size, skullface.

Hey, man! So we find ourselves in the halls of

Castle Grayskull. And Mike, what do you see there?

Um... I don't... This might be something that

you would find in Snake Mountain, but I originally

wrote it down as a Castle Grayskull moment. What

the hell are they guarding? Because it's not

explained until the very... Almost the end. Not

the very end of the episode, but like three quarters

of the way in. um forward my lackeys yeah um

uh uh what's his name squitch squinch uh is squitch

squinch and squeech whatever the hell the little

troll's name is um it's a high -pitched john

erwin yeah it's a it's a high -pitched prince

adam i love it it's so hilarious and awesome

i love that i love that erwin did that that's

so cool um i really enjoyed the scene splicing

between the cart rolling down the hill and the

transformation i thought that was a really cool

and unique and different way of breaking up the

standard traditional stock animation yes assuming

you're gonna have a problem with that at some

point okay um battle cat stepped on panther's

tail ow It was funny seeing the two cats go at

it. Yeah, it was. Whoa, Skeletor with the power

sword, that's not good. It was cool seeing him

with it. It was, it was. And I just wrote down

LOL that ending. Squint's lines at the end were

very funny. Yeah. It was very funny as he was

ripping apart and Miss Piggy there. I can't remember

what her name was, Laura? Yeah, Laura Lee or

Laura Laura. I think and she was it was funny

just here. It's going to get digging himself

deeper It was a good ending to the episode. I

also Thought you know just overall. I think the

plot was good. I like the cordite I like that

we learn something about human and that he's

not just getting his power from the sword He's

not just getting his power from some magic. You

know his harness is part of it Right now that

it's made of cordite. So we have a connection

there It's also a cool way to like I said to

have a gadget or have a gizmo for the week But

also have it connected to the bigger picture

So that thought that was cool. I I thought Skeletor

was funny at one point and he's frustrated with

his idiot lackeys or whatever and Evelyn is talking

to him and she says, you know you after he I

think what drop beastman down a I don't know

what he did, but Evelyn says something about

him overreacting Yeah, she's like you over overreact

and he goes how else can I act? And just the

way it was delivered was very cool I thought

it was cool seeing he man just helping ordinary

people yeah, no, I'm not saying it's the very

first time we've seen it but I just thought it

was cool seeing him. He's not involved in the

story yet. He's just out doing his thing, sees

somebody in need, helps them. So that part was

cool. You know, it had nothing to do with Skeletor

or any of his other missions. He was just helping

ordinary people. So it kind of gives you a glimpse

into what He -Man does on a daily basis, if needed.

Agreed. I thought it was cool that we saw Panther

getting some major action in this episode. Yeah,

it was Not just once but multiple times throughout

the episode panther gets action. Yeah, and not

with battle cat Not like that get your mind out

of the gutter people Interesting that beast man

must be a better climber than merman Because

they show merman climbing up that wall and then

beast man starts and it's like I'm watching American

Gladiators when it's like somebody really good

against somebody really bad Because it immediately

catches him. But that makes sense. He's a beast

man. Merman should be in the water, so that's

okay. So yeah, there's a lot of good things about

this episode that I liked. Does not mean that

there might not be a few things that we can find

in the realm of Snake Mountain, though. Since

we're walking around in Snake Mountain, I thought

I would start with something that you kind of

brought up back in Grayskull, and that is the

whole splicing of the transformation sequence.

I like the splicing of the transformation sequence.

I do not have a problem with that. The only slight

issue I have with that is this dude's cart is

running away like a thousand miles an hour heading

towards a cliff. And how does Adam have time

to do the transformation? Speed up your damn

transformation, son. This surgeon. It's like,

oh, this drastic thing is happening. Hold on,

folks. Let me get out my sword. Raise it up here.

I'll be with you temporarily. Don't worry. I'm

real fast, too. I'll get to that cart. It just

seemed like it was taking too long when there

was something imminent danger happening. There's

also a terrible I think it was right after this

sequence where they show He -Man and I don't

know if he's standing on a cliff or he's standing

on a ledge or a raised platform of some sort.

It looks like the man's on stilts or he has like

nine foot legs. Yeah, I remember that. It was

a very bad shot of someone that's legs were disproportionately

longer than the rest of his body. Just a minor

thing there. There was bad animation actually

throughout this whole episode. If I had to pinpoint

one bad thing about this episode overall, it's

the animation. A lot of the time having to do

with He -Man. Right. The looks on his face, the

drawing of his body, the proportions, the consistency.

There's just bad... Well, it's a combination

of animation and design. That's really off in

this episode. Thought I mean I understand that

they don't have a lot of time That they only

have You know basically 22 minutes to get through

the plot They could have spent more than a couple

seconds though with Evelyn especially since the

name of the episode is Evelyn's plot She gets

in her disguise. She goes You know does the whole

damsel in distress with panther attacking her

etc gets her in with the widgets And then literally

in a matter of seconds, she's already to the

cordite. Yeah, like I was hoping for a little

that to be drawn out just a little bit like she

has to work to get there. It was basically like

she's in. She's this brand new person, but she

was getting trapped. I'd like to see this. OK,

here you go. And she immediately had it. Yeah,

so I kind of had a slight problem with that.

I wish it would have been a little bit harder

for her. And then I thought the ending, although

the. actual ending with Squint's lines was good.

The basic ending of the plot, though, I thought

was a little weak. He -Man grabs a cordite and

crushes it. And before that, like before he even

crushes it, like Skeletor is just done, like

Skeletor is posed as just as powerful as He -Man.

Or maybe more powerful. He's throwing him around,

whatnot. And it's just like I don't quite understand

how Skeletor got beat there in that sequence

Like it was just like one little thing you're

done. I'm gonna grab this and crush it and it's

over. I Don't know. I just I thought I was a

little bit weak of an ending What about you?

Why does okay at at the widgets little temple

thing there whatever where they have the cord

at the cave? Why does Neil or it's a little village?

Why does the alarm sound and then immediately

stop after only about two minutes? so much like

the alarm sounds Skeletor and his crew show up

and then it immediately just stops that was a

little weird They have a he -man signal really

a he -man signal It's needed. It was. Wait a

damn minute. Skeletor blasted the door three

times in the previous scene, but the next scene

after He -Man is heading to the Widget Woods,

it shows Skeletor shooting one blast, and the

door is just destroyed. What the? The problem

with that is the first three shots that they

show him shoot at it put dents into the door.

Almost like that's what I'm saying. I'm saying

the first times he's shooting it There's physical

damage the door is being dented almost like you're

hitting it with a batting ram Then when they

do the other shot the door isn't destroyed the

door disappears But that's what but that's what

I'm saying I'm saying it's not just the fact

that we don't see the holes anymore It's the

fact that we go from the effect of his weapon

denting and having physical damage the next shot

should have barreled the door over or something

instead of instead of just disintegrating it

yeah now all of a sudden it's like magical instead

of physical yeah that was all kinds of fucked

up right there um and my last note that i wrote

down so wait he man's just lying around i can

see adam lying around but he man just lying around

no no no no I'm not saying the man can't relax,

but that's the point of Prince Adam is for him

to relax. That's true. That's all I had. Alright,

well let's get out of Snake Mountain and see

if we have any, uh... Alright, it's time for

trophies, awards, and rankings. Starting with

our Power Sword slash Havoc Staff presentation.

Sir Mike, do you have anything to give out for

this episode? Once again, gotta give a Power

Sword to Skeletor. Well, because he actually

had it. But other than that fact, I do like how

temperamental he is throughout this entire episode.

How fed up he is with his warriors. That whole

scene you brought up earlier, how else am I supposed

to act? It's like, you're overreacting. What

else am I supposed to do with this bumbling bunch

of idiots? Yeah, yeah. So yeah, I give a power

sword to Skeletor. What about you? I'm gonna

give one to Skeletor's cat. Panther? Yeah. Power

sword to Panther for finally being used and used

well. We have not only his initial... The havoc

kind of he threw on the widgets when they were

initially going after him or whatnot But especially

his scene with Eva Lin when she's in disguise

His interaction with battle cat even though battle

cat steps on his tail I just thought it was cool

to see panther to see him as a ferocious beast

a force to be reckoned with and I haven't seen

it yet in the series until this episode. So I

had to give a power sword to panther As far as

episode rating goes, I want to like this episode

more. I do like it overall. It's an entertaining

episode. I like the Choridite plot line. There's

just a couple things as far as the way it ended

and the way it was just kind of neatly wrapped

up. The whole Evil Lynn thing happening a bit

too quickly where she got to the Choridite. So

and the animation overall is the main thing that

kind of distracts me from this episode So I'm

gonna knock it down a little bit and give it

a I'll give it a three and a half out of five

What about you sir? I'm gonna give it four orcos

out of five overall. I liked it. Yes I did notice

a lot of bad animation, but I think The overall

voice acting in the episode and the overall story

and just the interactions of the characters made

it, you know, I only took one point off out of

it. So yeah, four orcos out of five. Alright,

so a three and a half and a four for Evil Lynn's

plot. Let's see what we have with Dawn of the

Dragon. This is only a temporary portal to Trolla.

And, as you can see, it is much too small. Sorceress,

do you have the power to make me small enough

to enter the portal? Yes, but it is too dangerous.

This portal will vanish at moonrise. If you're

not back by then, you will be trapped in Trolla.

I'll take that chance. Orko may need help. Very

well. Take this. It is the sphere of size. Squeeze

it to grow small. Release it to return to full

size. Good. We can enter the portal now. Remember,

you must be back here by moonrise. Got it. Come

on. Episode 14, Dawn of the Dragoon. Airdate

would have been September 22nd to 1983. That

would have been a Thursday. And the writer is

Robbie London, who we have seen with both the

disappearing act and Diamond Ray of Disappearance.

So kudos for him for writing an episode without

the word disappearance in it. As far as the plot

goes, Orko accidentally drops some small meteorites

near his magic pyramid, causing it to disappear.

When it reappears, Driel emerges, telling Orko

that his homeworld, Tralla, is in great danger.

Orko journeys back with Driel and immediately

encounters Dragoon. After finding a way to follow

Orko, Prince Adam and Cringer realize that they

cannot transform into their more powerful forms

on Tralla. Driella is captured by Dragoon and

her magical abilities drain from her as Adam,

Cringer, and Orko try to figure out how to summon

the power of Grayskull. For bad guys, we have

Dragoon, I guess. For masters, we have Adam,

slash He -Man, Cringer, Battlecat, T -Lid Man

-at -Arms are briefly seen, Orko, obviously,

and the Sorceress. So we have an episode basically

with no traditional bad characters. Which is

interesting. Very interesting. So getting into

the plot a little bit. We get to see Oracle's

home world. Yes, finally. I think it's excellent.

We get to see other. Whatever his race is called.

Trollins. Trollins, that's right. You know, we

get to see Driel, we get to see Orko, we get

to see their homeland, we get to see how everything's

backwards and upside down and switched around.

And we get to see a villain in the world in Trollah.

You know, one of their native villains instead

of an Aeternian villain. So I thought all that

was cool. I thought that was good stuff to explore.

And then I thought this was a well done episode.

Yeah. I agree. It was very, very well done. I

wasn't sure at the very beginning when Orca was,

quote unquote, performing his magic. I wasn't

sure where it was going to go. I wasn't sure

what kind of episode this was going to be at

all. I mean, yeah, sure, you get, you know, just

by looking at the title, Dawn of Dragoon, et

cetera, et cetera, et cetera. But you don't know

what that could be, you know, unless you actually

read a synopsis somewhere or something like that.

But I really liked it. I thought it was really

good, at least. At least for the way that we're

watching the episodes here in Tales of Eternia,

I thought it was a really good introductory episode

for Traala. I know that there are other ones

that we'll get to. I thought the only thing you

have to get by in order to accept this episode

is Orko's initial... how it happens initially.

Because he flubs it up. Well, that the meteorites

drop on this pyramid and that magically we're

in... I mean, that's kind of... you have to swallow

that. Yeah, and get past that but if you can

put that behind you and not have an issue with

The way that they kind of just conveniently made

a weird way for him to get to trial The rest

of the episode is good. Yeah, I have no problem

with the rest of the pod It's just that initial

like okay. I guess this is what we're using to

get here Otherwise that was fine. I do want to

apologize because we never talked about the PSA

in last episode And I'm realizing that right

now. So we'll talk about both PSA so far Incense

in a row here for Evelyn's plot the PSA even

though she did not appear in the episode Was

given to us by Tila and it was all about not

judging a book by its cover Hence Evelyn's disguise

and how people were judging her by her looks

and not seeing the real person Obviously a classic

lesson for children and for everybody not to

judge books by their cover So I thought I thought

it fit very well with the episode. It was just

Kind of strange that it came from Tila, but whatever.

Well, I think the reason why it came from Tila

is because that normally, uh, for the most part,

those are the two that are going to face off.

I mean, sure, there are going to be times where

Evelyn and the Sorceress face off because they

have magic, but usually Tila is the master's,

you know, female heroine and, and Evelyn is the,

is Skeletor. What's the PSA for this episode?

We got one from He -Man in this episode and it

was about decision -making and I thought this

is a Interesting one. I thought it's interesting

because First of all, it's great. It's great

that you're accenting Decision -making and how

sometimes they're easy and sometimes they're

hard and you know this or that thought it was

interesting that they did that because that's

something like the other one was so classic kid

lesson don't judge a book by its cover but a

lot of time kids don't necessarily get taught

about how to make decisions and you know hard

decisions and stuff like that so i thought it

was kind of cool that they threw this one in

there you know it's a little more loosely related

to the episode than the previous one but it still

is related to it as far as oracle deciding to

go back as far as adam and and cringer deciding

to to take a chance and go and help Oracle. But

I thought that kids need to know about decision

making. Yeah, they do. I guess. I don't know.

Seems somewhat strange, but decent. So yeah,

I don't have a. Any other issues with plot -wise,

character -wise, anything like that? So let's

make our way to Castle Grayskull. Things are

backwards here. If I say, by the power of Grayskull,

backwards... Maybe then it will work! Grayskull,

oh, power thee by! Alright, as far as Castle

Grayskull goes, some of my more favorable moments

from the Dawn of the Dragon. First of all, just

getting to see Trala overall. I know that's going

to be on both our lists. Seeing where Oracle

came from, seeing a different world than Eternia

with its characters. Well, we've seen other worlds

so far. More so with the connection to the character.

I thought it was very cool that At first we have

no He -Man in Tralla, and then he can't necessarily

figure it out how to become He -Man, so I thought

it was cool that we had to deal with Prince Adam

for a while. This isn't necessarily good or bad,

but He -Man had an interesting watch he was wearing.

Because part of the story is that he and Cringer

can go through this little portal or whatever,

and they have until sundown basically. And at

one point he says, looks at a wrist that should

have a watch on it, I guess. And there was just

like the weird graphics there telling him how

much time he had left. Like I've never seen He

-Man with a watch on before. Yeah, I'll talk

about that later. It was just an interesting

thing. I'm like, what? He just like randomly

looked at his arm and all of a sudden there's

a timekeeper on it. Anyways, I thought. even

though I ripped on last episode animation, the

animation in this episode was actually rather

good, especially the sequence with He -Man pulling

the rope. Yeah, it was. That was awesome. You

know, for as much stock footage as this series

used, that footage was really good. It was very

fluid. It was very believable with him pulling

that rope. It was, yeah. I thought it was cool

that we saw, like, a tradition of the Trilons

as far as the whole show your face thing. Yeah.

You know, because every race, it's good to build

their different, like, characteristics or different

traditions or things that they do. And so I thought

that was kind of a unique thing and a clever

thing for someone to come up with, you know,

that we have these characters that wear hoods

and masks and whatnot, and you know, that they

show their face to each other as a form of, you

know, basically getting engaged, I guess. So

I thought that was cool. Along those same lines,

this, to me, is the proper way to do a romantic

storyline in a boys action cartoon. Exactly,

yeah. So many times people try to throw a romantic

storyline or a boyfriend girlfriend, you know,

love interest storyline into a cartoon and it's

so forced and it's so obvious. And this one was,

you know, we've seen oracle enamored by a bunch

of different females. Right this one. It's one

of his kind It's not as forced. It just seemed

like this was the right way to do it where it

didn't bug me Right. Yeah. No, I'm not a hundred

percent sure here, but I have written down Give

me a break from battle cat. I Don't know why

I wrote that down. I don't know if he said give

me a break. I Think there's a yeah, I think there's

yeah, I know he did he did he did I'll get he

says give me a break or so I thought that was

funny So what do you got in Castle Grace? Yeah,

the give me a break line came after Orko. When

Driel first gets there, and he's trying to be

all suave and cool and everything else, Adam

says, laying it on thick, huh? And then that's

when Battle Kit says, ah, give me a break. Because

of the romantic notions towards Driel. Gotcha.

And as you said, ooh, a trial episode, yay. I

love Alan Oppenheimer's voice for Dragoon. Yeah.

I thought that was a slightly unique and different.

It's kind of in the middle of Man in Arms and

Skeletor. Well, and up to this point, another

reason why I liked it so much is we're over a

dozen episodes in, not half a dozen, over a dozen

episodes in, getting into our 15, 16, 17 area.

And up until this point, basically all of the

side characters, the guest characters, maybe

some that will end up being recurring characters,

but any of the non main characters, 80 % of them

have been done by Lusheimer and the other 20

% have been done by John Irwin. This is one of

the first times where Oppenheimer has done one

of the other. bit characters and I thought it

was a very welcome sound and a different voice

and I agree with you I should have wrote that

down too I liked Dragoon's voice. Once we once

we progress through more of the series um Oppenheimer

will have more like I guess you could say humans

um he will have like more human more villager

more you know common people voices um it'll either

be it'll either be Take off the man -at -arms

voice or something like that, right? I Love when

Cringer gets scared how he rolls rolls around.

I thought that was hilarious I put it. I believe

I put it at the beginning of the Castle Grayskull

moments here. I love the backwards speak I'm

not gonna say it because you would have already

heard it, but I Like that they finally figured

out because part of my plot note was something.

I didn't mention the plot was so The sword doesn't

work, yet Orko's magic does. Everything is backwards

in Trala. And I really, I like that. I think

it, again, it makes it interesting. It makes

it to where, as you said earlier in the plot,

where this is majority of this is a Prince Adam

episode because he can't change. He doesn't know

how to. But it also gives us a whole nother side

of Orko, which kind of defines his character

a little bit more too. Exactly. With him being,

you know, someone who is very revered and respected

in Trala. and it's just the fact that everything's

backwards there. Yeah. My final note was I love,

I'm really loving the story overall in this episode,

although I wanted to see their faces. I know

it's a super secret, you know, intimate moment

type of thing, but everybody that sees that is

hoping that they're going to see the faces. Yeah.

Even as a kid, I remember I wanted to see their

faces I actually remember that from my childhood

that I remember when as soon as I saw this scene

I'm like, I remember this and I remember wanting

to see their faces and then they did it to me

again where we didn't get to see him That's all

I had. Alright time to venture to the depths

of snake mountain even though We saw nobody from

snake mountain in this episode. Let's find a

way inside What's wrong with them? What have

you done? I'm draining their energy from them.

I'm so tired. Sleep, Troran. Sleep. The energy

is stored there in the Megacore. When I have

collected the energy of all your people, my mission

will be complete. The energy will be transferred

to my master. Skeletor! Alright, Mike, what do

you find in Snake Mountain besides a whole bunch

of minions that are just sitting around doing

nothing this episode? The Sorceress. Her voice

seems off when He -Man goes to Grayskull. She

sounds more like Evil -In to me. It was like,

you know, Linda -Gary may she rest in peace,

but it was like she was having a rough day that

day and not remembering which voice she's supposed

to do. Could be. The other one I had was, you

kind of brought it up early, how does Adam have,

all of a sudden, a fire slash water blaster and

a watch that has never been a part of his design

before this? That was annoying. It wasn't even

a real watch, it was a weird set of symbols.

It makes sense to me now, looking back on it,

that Adam would have to have something like,

it's kind of like, was it last episode where

I said that the power sword in his hand kind

of looked dinky when he was trying to fight Orko's

magic in his room or whatever else. You know,

it makes sense that Adam would have weapons outside

of using the power sword, but at the same time,

it was like, this has never been seen before

this episode to my knowledge. You know, and it

just, it rubbed me the wrong way. I don't know.

What do you got? Well, part of the plot that

we didn't talk about. was in order to get Prince

Adam and Cringer into Tralla. They had to go

through a portal, but the portal was not big

enough for them to fit. So the Sorcerers gave

them a sphere of size, which looked like a little

stress ball. And you squeezed the stress ball

to shrink, and you released the ball to grow.

Alright my first thought as soon as she said

that was So they're gonna have to squeeze this

the whole time I was not thinking that you know

once they're through the portal they can release

it and go back to the regular size But the problem

with this and the reason why I brought it up

is so they show him he squeezes it They shrink

Then it immediately cuts to a scene where you

see both of Adam's hands Yeah, and neither one

of them is holding the sphere Both hands are

empty Yeah, so the ball must have been released

But they're still tiny and then he gets through

and then it shows the ball in his hand again

and he lets go of it Or releases it to grow back

So there's just a minor scene in there where

they kind of made a mistake where they show a

scene of him not holding the ball So that's just

a nitpick Another kind of nitpick the animation

at the end of man -at -arms laugh Was awful the

laughs are always no laughs are always bad, but

this was ridiculously bad. He looks evil Yeah,

it looks terrible. It's just bad mad at arms

laugh at the end watch it look for it It's terrible.

All right, my only Real those are both nitpicks

with like things that were visual Right. My only

bad thing about something that was written was

they should have gone with the original script

where once Adam and, you know, Orko and Cringer

figure out that he has to say by the power of

Grayskull backwards in order to become He -Man,

he should have literally said the phrase backwards,

not just the words in reverse order. Okay. Okay.

The original script would have been like, if

you wrote down by the power of Grayskull and

held it up to a mirror, Uh -huh, and you would

have read it backwards like if you read your

name backwards That to me is what they should

have done and it would have sounded much better

than what he said, which is Power have I you

know, grace call the by power, you know, whatever

he says. Yeah, just he just reverses the order

of the words Yeah, I would have liked it if he

would have actually said the words backwards

and that's how the original script had it I don't

know why they changed it But they probably changed

it so kids could get it and so he could say it

easier. I Don't know. Yeah, it just I just think

it would have been cool and I think most kids

would have got that because kids do that type

of shit all the time where they Look at something

back where Harry Carrie can say names backwards.

Good Lord All right. Let's let's get some hardware.

Come on the sooner we find or go and get back

to Eternia the better At last a voice of reason

All right, sir, do you have any trophies? Power

Swords Havoc Staffs to give out for Dawn of the

Dragoon. Gotta give one to Orko. Gotta give a

Power Sword to Orko. He was the man this episode.

I also feel like Dragoon deserves a Havoc Staff

because... Well, I'm gonna... See, I keep thinking...

I'm gonna give two Power Swords out. One for

Orko and one for Dragoon. Because in the end

Dragoon realizes the error of his ways and all

that good stuff. I You stole my you stole my

spotlight. No, I am giving a power sword to Dragoon

as well I see why you gave one to orco. I don't

have any problems with that But for Dragoon for

me, first of all, it was at first they have this

just like this bad creature that lives in Trala

Mm -hmm, and I am just thinking it's gonna be

like every other creature that we've seen it's

not gonna speak right, then he speaks and then

he has a cool voice and then He's not just some

superficial creature Right got a brain. He's

got a plot that he's working with. He's got something

that he's doing We will by the by the way, just

a disclaimer here. We will get further into this

plot at a future date Hmm interesting because

We have the exact same plot come up again in

the human franchise. Oh wow And we'll have to

examine when each was written and what not. But

this will come up again, and I'm sure human purists

know what I'm talking about. So just write a

and his plot of stealing the energy from the

Tralons and et cetera. But he has a complex thing

going on here. He's someone to be reckoned with.

He's powerful. And he also has that human element

where he You know has been tricked by Skeletor.

We do have Skeletor is mentioned there And that

he was supposed to look out for someone like

he man But then we get him questioning What's

happening and the right thing to happen after

he man saves his life? So he's somewhat of a

complex Evil creature He's a complex redeeming

character. It's not just like a stone creature

or a class or or some yeah pointless, you know

skin deep Yeah the week, so I thought it was

really cool to see some a character with some

depth here That wasn't one of your normal characters.

So that's why I'm giving him a power sword and

obviously you agreed since you gave him one as

well Yeah, and I think it also goes back to Robbie

London's writing. Yeah, and how he wrote the

character. So it was very cool As far as your

episode rating for this one zero through five,

what are you gonna give it? Five or goes gives

this one a five or ko. Yep I absolutely loved

it. It had everything that a really great He

-Man episode was. Yes, it wasn't necessarily

He -Man versus Skeletor, but it just told such

a great story. So five out of five orcos. I don't

know if it was just because I was missing some

of the other characters. Even though we got Dragoon

and we got Driel and we got to see everything

in Trala, and I'm not expecting everybody would've

been stupid if all the other characters showed

up in Trala as well. I was just missing something

and I couldn't put my finger on it. So I'm gonna

give this one a four. There was nothing really

wrong with this episode. I liked it, I enjoyed

it. We got to see some more character development

of Orko, et cetera, et cetera. Prince Adam even

a little bit. But I just can't rate it at the

top score, so I'm gonna give it a four. I know

that's not good reasoning, but it's a four. So

you can give it a five, I'll give it a four,

and we will move on to Prince Adam no more. Right

this way, Your Majesty! You furry devil, you'll

never get away with this! Who's going to stop

me? That weakling son of yours? When he shows

up tonight, I'll get him! And all your goals,

too. Monster, if you touch one hair on that boy's

head. Yeah, yeah, come on. You've got a date

with Skeletor. So it's September 23rd, 1983,

which means this is our Friday episode. This

is how we end the week as children with Prince

Adam No More written. by Pauldini. So we went

from Pauldini to Robbie London back to Pauldini.

So this will be his fourth episode that he's

written that we are talking about. And Prince

Adam no more goes something like this. Skeletor

banishes Beastman from Snake Mountain for his

constant failures, harkening back to his displeasure

with his minions from earlier. At the Royal Palace,

He -Man prevents the attack track from causing

insurmountable damage, earning praise from King

Randor. Prince Adam's hopes of being his father's

guard on his royal tour are crushed when King

Randor names He -Man as the guard. Prince Adam

journeys to Castle Grayskull intent on giving

up his powers. Both the Sorceress and Man -at

-Arms give Adam guidance that will shape his

future as He -Man, especially when he must save

his father from Beastman. So we have Skeletor,

Evelyn, Beastman, Trapjaw, Triclops, Merman,

the entire group of evil warriors basically up

to this point right then we have orco human slash

adam man -at -arms king randor sorceress still

know uh tila is this all three episodes without

tila i think so yeah basically um so we haven't

seen king randor in a while we get him we hadn't

seen triclops and trap draw that often so we

get a little bit of them and besides merman climbing

up a wall very slowly in the one episode earlier

today we get to see merman a lot more so a lot

more characters um as far as the plot goes it's

two -fold really and what i mean by that is we

have almost at the same time two different stories

of finding one's own Self value and and and almost

redemption here because we have beast man on

one hand getting booted from snake mountain right

him trying to earn his way back or to prove himself

to Skeletor and then on the other side we have

Prince Adam trying to earn his father's respect

and and you know Earn his love back So both of

them going on at the same time kind of an inner

struggle for both of them as well as you know

The inner struggle for randor as far as dealing

with his son so a lot of stuff going on in this

episode What did you think about the plot? the

plot overall I Liked it At first I know I know

this isn't the episode that I that I really like

that's closer to the, I think it's closer to

the end of the season one, it might be in season

two, I don't remember, the one where he goes

back to Grayskull and throws the, I thought at

first when I saw the episodes at all, I was like,

ooh, but then wait a second, why would it say

Prince, I don't know, more accessories, whatever,

but no, I like the overall plot. I have huge

issues with Randor and his attitude and all that

stuff. But overall I really liked it. I thought

it was a very well told story. I Like the twist

at the end That that Adam gives To randor I thought

that was really interesting it would have even

been better if something would happen that I'll

talk about in a bit Right. Um, what I loved about

this episode is finally Finally after how many

episodes is it was 18 19 episode? What the hell

number is this? I don't know it is episode 17

15 Yeah, okay episode 50 finally after 14 episodes.

We actually see randor fight. That's true Finally

um I love that I love that bit um you know I

just I just found like I I have barely any notes

for either Grayskull or Snake Mountain, because

I just found myself really enjoying this episode.

And the notes that I do have are just mainly

the major nitpicks I have with the episode. OK.

But it was so well done. Yeah, I don't want to

talk a lot about. the plot here because I'm going

to talk about it a lot in another section, so

I'm not going to repeat myself, but there will

be more to come for me for that, so I don't want

to make it seem like we're cutting that short.

The PSA for this one, I won't forget, came from

Orko, and I thought this was another kind of

ingenious slash clever one to throw in there.

It's almost like the decision -making one for

me, one that you don't see very often, but it

was basically talking about both kids and parents

being able to say, I love you to each other.

right and and you know that just because it's

not said doesn't mean it does it's not true and

And that you know it takes both people to say

it And I just thought it was a very clever one

to throw in there And I don't remember that as

a kid or whatever seeing this but a very valuable

lesson Yeah, no I agree and the other thing about

this is that I remember there are certain times

I think I told this story in one of these episodes.

We've done so far in the show where I'm from

divorced parents. My parents divorced when I

was two. And I had seen my dad for about, you

know, once a week up until the time he actually

moved here to Kentucky from Massachusetts when

he got married or when he got remarried. And

I never really had like once once he remarried

to my then stepmother, which they're now divorced,

I believe, you know, I never really could tell

him. Never really could say it to him. I just

you know sure on the phone I could but in person

I could never tell my dad that I loved him It

wasn't that I didn't love him, but it was the

fact that I just it felt too awkward Just with

what the situation that it was and everything

else it just it was it was one of those moments

Yeah, I really appreciate this this PSA Yeah,

I thought it was definitely good one one that

you don't it was not your classic one that you

see in all the other cartoons So I thought it

was very kind of cool that they have to do that

in there Yeah. Alright, well let's go to Castle

Grayskull and see what we liked about this episode.

So you still think you'll be the king's escort,

eh? Sure, why not? Well, sometimes he hasn't

been too pleased with you. You know, as Adam,

I may act like a goof now and then, but well,

that's only to keep my secret. Besides, I'd never

really do anything to make my father ashamed

of me. Alright, sir, I will let you begin. What

are some of the things you liked about this Prince

Adam No More episode? I love how Beastman back

talks and insults Skeletor when he isn't even

there! He's just like that disgruntled employee.

Yeah. This actually, I wrote this down after

I wrote down my Snake Mountain moments because

obviously it's how, it's just how the, it's just

how the, how I wrote it down because of... I

write my notes down as the episode goes along.

Well, at least Randor made up for being mean

to Adam. And then a good left hook, I wonder.

I thought that was really cool and interesting,

but that's pretty much all I got for this one.

Well, the things I liked with this episode started

right from the beginning. Right away, we see

the council table at Snake Mountain. full of

evil warriors Right and immediately I'm like

finally we get to see them all together again

Because it seems like it's been a while since

we've seen all of them, right? Yeah, so I was

like, that's good. That's gonna be good for this

episode I'm like, I don't know how much they're

gonna talk to any of them I don't know how much

any of them are gonna be involved But I just

like the fact that we just at least get a shot

of them all sitting around the table Each having

their own spot at the table, you know as part

of the Council of Evil or whatever you want to

call it Um, so I thought that was a cool scene.

I also thought it was cool then to see Skeletor

actually banish an evil warrior. We've never

seen that here. You know, so I think that's an

interesting side of Skeletor being like, you

know, and it was funny because they were even,

some of the other evil warriors are talking and

they're like, what did he do? And they're like,

we don't know. He's just taking out his anger

on him. Like, it's not even his fault. He's just

the one that's sitting at the wrong spot. And

then there was the cool trap door moment almost

like from Jabba the Hutt there. Yeah. Where Beastman

go down a hole. Beastman go down a hole. And

so that was cool. The main thing I like about

this entire episode, though, character development,

character development, character development.

Oh, exactly. Yeah. There's so much character

development here. This is I don't care what anybody

that claims. the bad stuff about this series

or about other 80s action series or people that

just are like oh it's just a toy commercial or

it's just you know plot of the week you know

one -off episodes blah blah blah there's nothing

to it and watch this episode yes there's a lot

to it there's internal issues and struggles going

on with at least three characters there is internal

battles and struggles going on as far as figuring

themselves out about earning respect and love

for you know each other themselves um you know

there's all kinds of stuff going on in this one

so you know there are a few of those people out

there that hate this series need to watch this

episode and stop just going off of baseless accusations

here um starting with prince adam Okay, you know

Prince Adam is going through a thing where he

wants to Get rid of his power or not get rid

of his power get rid of the facade and just be

he man Yeah, and tell the whole world look enough

of this which is something we should get because

this is something that should be happening within

him You know, he always has to play the dumb

guy. He always has to play the lazy irresponsible

guy Well, eventually that should get to you Yeah,

and be like everybody likes he man But I'm he

man like everybody needs to like me and the whole

internal battle here then the lesson he learns

is Even though that's true that is more of the

selfish approach to it Right and he became he

meant to help the people So he's got to understand

that so there's all kinds of stuff going on with

Prince Adam Yeah, before you move on to a different

character. I do have to say I meant to point

this out earlier I noticed this and it's only

because I watched the voice for the last two

seasons Prince Adam originated the finger point.

So Prince Adam and Blake Shelton are related.

I saw that I was like, that's crazy I was gonna

try to get that I actually didn't really get

that scene. I tried to I tried to get I tried

to get Really good Blake point and I could I

didn't get a really really great one, but I did

do them side -by -side type of deal and It's

so similar to that with the father of the bear

one, too. Yeah So so you have that part of Adam

struggle going on and obviously his relationship

with the randor which leads to Randor's character

development we see him fight We see a spotlight

on him. We see His relationship with his son

How he struggles with that? And the whole you

know the fact that he's choosing him in over

his own son even though they're the same people

So there was a lot of complex issues going on

there, which I loved all of it Even more so though.

I love beast man's character development here.

I Think yeah because he's going from you know

what seems to be Outside of Eva Lin you could

argue that he's basically been you know If Evelyn's

Skeletor's right -hand woman, Beastman's sitting

to the left. Like, they're number one and number

two. Oh yeah, no doubt. That's what we've seen

so far in the series. You have to get the impression

that he's kind of, you know, he's one of the

top, you know, with Evelyn the top dogs. So he

goes from that to being kicked out. He is dealing

with wanting to get revenge on Skeletor, but

at the same time, then he's trying to impress

Skeletor by capturing King Randor. Trying to

make everything at ease then we get the kind

of the thing where I'm fine If Skeletor hates

me because as long as I'm here at Snake Mountain,

I'm happy So you had a lot of development with

Beastman too and we haven't seen a lot of development

from the evil warriors So I thought that was

cool Merman and Beastman freaking steal this

show though almost they do they're together They're

hilarious. Not only they're the dialogue that

goes on between them but the action that goes

on between them and what they're doing. Because

basically how it sets up is Skeletor and the

rest of the evil warriors are off in space is

how they say it. You know, they're doing something

out in space. So Merman's the one that kind of

got left to play guard at Snake Mountain. So,

you know, then Beastman comes in and it's like,

oh, you know, blah, blah, blah, what are you

doing here? You can't be here. And like, oh,

Skeletor is going to be pleased with you. And

then as they fuck everything up, oh, Skeletor

is not going to like you very much. And there's

just a lot of cool exchanges between Merman and

Beastman, and I thought they stole the episode.

They did. They so did. So, you know, I can't

pull out every single thing, but you just need

to watch this episode and watch for the exchanges

between Merman and Beastman. So those are the

things I have in Castle Grayskull. Let's see

what we can find where Merman and Beastman are

causing havoc in Snake Mountain. I called you

in to tell you that I have made the choice for

my honor guard escort. The young man I've selected

has won the admiration of myself and our people

many times over. He -Man. He -Man? Duncan, you've

had great success in summoning He -Man before.

Would you please contact him now? Of course,

Your Majesty. But, Father, I... Well, I thought

you and I might make this trip together. Really,

Adam? But you've never shown any interest in

state affairs. Sorry, son. I'm afraid on this

trip I'll need someone a bit more experienced

and reliable. I see. All right, sir. So Prince

Adam no more. We have journeyed to Castle Grayskull

and now we're at Snake Mountain where obviously

Merman and Beastman are causing all kinds of

trouble. And what do you find there amongst them?

Seriously, Adam and Men in Arms can't stop Attack

Track. They have to get He -Man. Really? Come

on. Seriously? We did get to hear Attack Track

talk again. No, yeah, I know that but the my

point here is is that men -at -arms Tila the

guards are all capable And just immediately we

get a transformation to turn that just pissed

me off because That's like getting you know calling

he man and to bake you a fucking cake You know

or to do your fucking laundry. I mean come on

Which leads randor talking to he -man not Adam

so I get that that was set up because of what

happens with the Really randor you're gonna put

your son down like that And again, that's where

my source where my um, my castle grayskull moment

came from where I'm glad at the end he finally,

you know, so I was ready to throw randor into

the fire until it was more like the whole struggle

about i really love you i just have trouble saying

it type thing yeah yeah yeah um again Sorceress.

Who the fuck are He -Man's other enemies? We

have only seen Skeletor and his evil warriors.

She says, you know, that whole scene where she's

trying to explain to Adam why the persona of

Adam is needed, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera,

and why he can't just be He -Man all the time.

She says all of He -Man's enemies. We've only

seen Skeletor and his evil warriors or agents

of Skeletor in Dragoon, because Dragoon said

he was working for Skeletor. You know what I

mean? It's like... Yeah, basically just Skeletor.

just say it how it is we need you here for skeletor

yeah what didn't you like about this um for there's

just a nitpick of visual thing i should have

captured it the picture of king randor when he's

holding the map and and i think he's got some

old hands his hands have not aged well No. He

looks like Skeletor's hands there. No, that was

awful. His hands looked bad. I thought the ending

was a teensy tiny bit awkward, but it was also

cool. The episode would have been, the episode

was great. All right. The episode was awesome.

The episode would have been even better if they

would have left in one scene that they cut. And

that is when, when King Randoor originally gets

kidnapped or taken by Beastman. Prince Adams

there There was supposed to be a scene That basically

he's seen his father kidnapped He knows he needs

he man and he reaches for his sword To do the

transformation right there in front of everybody

Yeah, but beast man Freezes him in man -at -arms

before he can do it. Oh To me that would have

been the icing on the cake for this episode Yeah,

because it would really show the struggle that

Prince Adams been having the whole time of wanting

he first of all, he's wanted to show Who he's

everybody he's held it back, but now his father's

in danger He's gonna say this is too important.

I can't risk it goes to reach for it It would

have been a cliffhanger because we would have

all been like, oh my god He's showing everybody

the duty man then boom. He's frozen And then

it even and then some of the other stuff that

happens in the episode makes more sense with

that scene in there Right. Yeah, you know the

whole ending makes more sense You know because

there would have been all these little tiny bits

and pieces where King Rand or maybe could be

starting to put it together Maybe not. I just

think with that scene in there. It would have

been even better I don't know who decided to

cut that scene, but I think that should have

been left in So that's kind of it might have

just been cut for time. Yeah, but I think that

would have been that would have put tied up everything

with a bow that would have made everything more

connected and made more sense. Yeah. And I think

it would have been an epic scene, too, where

we see Adam almost revealing himself. Right,

yeah. So that would have been cool. You know,

it's not something bad about the episode. It

just would have been that much cooler. Right.

All right. Let's see what we're going to do for

awards and rankings for Prince Adam no more.

Last stop, everybody out. You said you wanted

to help All right, Prince Adam no more power

sword and havoc staff presentation time I'm going

first Okay, cuz I say so That's fine. You can

dual power swords out dual First off to Prince

Adam Right. I think it was cool in this episode

I understand the struggle he's going through.

I understand why he's going through it. I understand

that he just figures out why it has to be this

way, which is a big show of his strength, of

his character. But he's just good throughout

the episode. And then I'm going to give a power

sort out. I don't know if he's becoming my favorite

character or not, but I got to give a power sort

out to Merman. I know I kind of said Merman and

Beastman stole the show, but for me it was really

Merman that did a lot of it. He just had cool

lines, cool parts, and I'm just really starting

to like him as a character. I'm gonna give a

power sword to Adam for all the character development

and for all the, you know, like you said, the

struggle he's going through. But at the same

time... Why I gotta brain you to I'm gonna take

the sorceress and randor and Beat them up three

stooges style with a havoc staff two of them.

I was very close to giving randor Okay. Okay.

Yes. Yes Yes, King Randoor does redeem himself

at the end. But again, you don't know what, you

know, unless you're going to fast forward or

unless you've like watched this episode a million

times and you don't know it from front to back.

This is the first time I've seen this episode

in over 20 years. You know, so I didn't know

what the hell was going to happen when it got

to the point of Randoor constantly putting Adam

down and constantly not choosing Adam and constantly

being a dick. You know, I was like, fuck it.

He's getting the Havoc staff upside the head.

Same thing with Sorceress. Her and her constant,

you know, saying all... I know it's a nitpick,

all of, you know, He -Man's enemy line, but still,

it's like, seriously, you need to rephrase that.

You need to say something else. Don't just say

all of He -Man's enemies, because the only ones

we know of are Skeletor and his evil warriors.

Strikes a chord with you, I see. Yeah. All right.

I'm going to give it a five. Even though I have

huge issues with certain lines and little nitpicks,

overall the character development wins it for

me. The overall story, the fact that we finally

get to see Randor fight, the fact that Adam essentially

does tell Randor. I mean, he does in his own

way. You know, I thought that was great. You

know, so yeah, it gets five out of five or it

goes for me. You know, I don't know. I'm going

to have to review some of the other episodes

I've rated to see exactly where this one falls

amongst all of them. But my initial feeling is

that this may be one of the best episodes we've

seen in the entire series. Oh, I so agree. The

character development is everywhere. There's

complex dual storylines going on that almost

parallel each other in both the Good and the

bad side of Eternia With Beastman and Prince

Adam. I like how it's done. I like the dialogue

I like the interaction, you know, like I said

Merman and Beastman have some hilarious stuff

going on It is just a solid episode from beginning

to end there's nothing Plot wise that just is

like a dramatic Thing that you have to get past

or this cheesy way. There was no we're gonna

easily wrap this up with a bow type thing and

finish the episode Right. It was just flawlessly

done It flowed well everything about this episode

was good so it's five out of five easy for me

and And it might like I said it maybe end up

being one of the best episodes of the entire

series I would have to carefully look at everything

I give a five to and maybe some of the four four

and a half So but but this is right up there

at the top right now Oh yeah, I totally agree.

This is outside of that very first episode with,

you know, He -Man lowering the jaw bridge and

all that stuff. Outside of the classic moments

in this series, this by far is my very favorite

episode out of the entire series to this point.

So well done, Mr. Deanie. Alright, so it's time

for some commercial breaks. get some GeekCast

radio ads and whatnot and we will be back with

our overall thoughts on the series through 15

episodes after this. In today's story you saw

how the widgets were fooled by Eva Lin's disguise.

They learned that bad things can be made to look

good and why we should always be careful and

question everything that doesn't seem right.

But it works both ways, and that's why the saying

you can't judge a book by its cover is so important.

What it means is that appearances can be deceiving,

and you shouldn't judge books or people by the

way they look. It's what's inside that really

counts. the Zune market and animation aficionados

.com. And this side makes fruit, huh? Oh no,

you open it. I thought you said it was broken.

Well, that's the side that still works. Well,

at least some of your tricks work. Well, back

in the land of Trollah, all my tricks worked.

You hardly ever talk about Trollah. Where even?

In a different astral zone from here. It's a

beautiful land. I'll bet you get home sick. Yeah.

Back home, I was a powerful sorcerer. I had respect!

You, a powerful sorcerer, that's a good one.

It's true. They called me Orko the Great. Well,

if I were Orko the Great, I would stop playing

with those meteorites, because they might be

dangerous. What happened? Those rocks from space

seem to have a magical effect on Orko's pyramid.

Boy is he laying it on thick Grab your helmets

make more and more of them for ourselves. And

that's the way it ought to be. But sometimes

we have a real tough one, a real problem. And

when that happens, it's a good idea to talk it

over with someone else. Someone who really cares

about you, like your mother or father, or maybe

your best friend. Talking a problem out with

someone else. can be a great help. Steve Megatron

Legends of the Dark Knight. Today's story was

about love, but a very special kind. It was about

the love a parent has for a child. And I bet

that's the strongest kind of love there is, because

for one thing, there's just about nothing that

can change it, no matter what. Maybe, like Adam's

father, your parents find it a little difficult

to say, I love you. Even so, you can be sure

they do. Besides, didn't he ask you something?

When was the last time you said, I love you,

to them? Bye! All right, sir, we are at the 15

episode mark, which means as a child, have seen

our first three weeks of He -Man. Three full

school weeks of He -Man, and it is time to give

our thoughts on where the series is at at this

point. First of all, I like where the series

is at. I'm not tired of the series. I'm not bored

with the series. I'm still looking forward to

watching every new episode. And that's as an

adult speaking. So for everybody, again, that

thinks this series is crap, this is no mask.

This is not one of your 80s cartoons where you

watch one episode and that is all you ever need

to watch. This is no Battletoads. I'm literally

looking forward to every episode as an adult.

I can only imagine how much I was looking forward

to it as a kid. I like what they've done so far.

I'm still always needy. I'm always needing certain

things to happen, and I'm still looking forward

to more. Now, we did just get a lot of character

development in that last episode, and we did

in this series of three episodes get to see some

background on Orko, his home world, his character

development as far as what he was back in his

home world, et cetera, et cetera. So we have

gotten to see a little of that. I still especially

would like to see background on the Evil Warriors,

though I know I've said that again. I'm sounding

like a broken record, but it seems like although

we get character development of some of the evil

warriors, we don't get background on them. We

have gotten background on quite a few of the

good characters so far. Orko, and the Queen,

and Tila, and a little bit of Man -at -Arms,

and the Sorcerers, etc. We've gotten a little

bit of background on them. You know, we really

haven't got too much background on any of the

evil characters, and I'm really looking forward

to that if it ever happens. The other thing that

I was going to say is if we're not going to get

more in depth look at, you know, like, let's

say a trap jaw or a triclops or some of them,

if we're not going to get more in depth at some

of them, then it's time to introduce new ones.

Because I can't just keep dealing with the same

bad guys if we're not going to get any depth

to them. Now, that is not withstanding beastman

and merman, of course. Those are the standard

ones I expect them to be there they're those

they're the main ones But like I either need

to see more from trap John triclops or I need

to see new minions It's been a while since we've

seen triclops He was in the beginning of this

episode just briefly and then he's out in space

But I mean he was around the council table, but

we didn't even get to hear him Harley talk, right?

That's what I'm saying. I mean, it's like, you

know, there's no there's not to this point There's

maybe even one or two episodes where he's There

but he's he's not really there. So I'm not upset

with the series I'm just saying if I had to if

I was the one in charge at this point or if I

was the one getting to make a wish list That's

what I would like to see a little more that and

like always we did get to see a little bit about

Chordite and being part of humans power but I

would still like to see some history of the sword

and and and how Human originally gets the power

etc Besides our opening montage introduction,

you know graphics so that's kind of where I'm

at with the series Nothing bad and I'm not mad

or upset or anything And like I said, I'm not

just saying this because we're doing a podcast

about it because we're very honest when we do

mask about how bad it is I'm literally look forward

to watching this and that's why we're getting

more consistent episodes out here, too Yeah,

I mean, yeah, it's like, you know over on mass

mayhem Not only because of scheduling But honestly,

after watching 30 some episodes of season one

or however many episodes we've got up to episode

14, I don't even know, I'm not even gonna look

at it, but episode 14 of that podcast. was just

burnt out watching that series because it's the

same thing every episode it just it's a different

packaging here each Episode is something new

something different Amazing writing I mean yeah

sure there are some episodes of the writing isn't

that great But you know you look at people like

Robbie London like Paul Dini You know Paul Dini

is one of the best animation writers in history

He just is And it's just absolutely amazing.

As far as my overall thoughts on the series so

far, I'm loving what it's doing and where it's

going. As you said, I always want that more.

The problem I have with the opening title sequence

and the fact that Adam says I held my magic sword

aloft and uttered all this. The problem is, is

we don't see... Did he go to the basement of

Castle Grayskull and just pull it out of a stone?

Did some high deity hand it to him? You know

what I mean? We don't see that. We just assume,

oh, this is his sword, and all of a sudden, one

day, he figured out that it can electronically

change him into another man. But the storytelling,

for the most part, over the last 15 episodes,

has been solid. Yes, I agree with you. I do want

to see more with the evil warriors and more information

on them But overall it's just it's so enjoyable

sitting down to watch and And grab the audio

clips and everything else. It's so enjoyable

for me to be working on this series for a podcast

Yeah, and the other thing that's gonna be fun

is is seen the development of these characters

if we get some and how much there is or this

or that or what background we do get to see on

each of the individual characters during this

series and then having a whole new knowledge

of the original characters going into the 2000s.

2000 series Mike Young production because I remember

watching that and getting introduced all the

characters and having vague memories of them

But now we're gonna go through and learn every

nuance of those characters first And then go

back and watch them in the Mike Young production

and and being able to see if we have different

opinions on Certain characters after the fact,

you know when we watch it further. It's kind

of like watching it with a new knowledge next

time So I'll be looking forward to that Alright,

any other thoughts, sir? No, that's pretty much

it for this episode. Alright, well then thank
