Powers of Grayskull
Creatures from the Tar Swamp, Song of Solis, She-Demon of Phantos Review

About this Episode
and the Masters of the Universe! I am Adam, Prince
of Eternia and defender of the secrets of Castle
Grayskull. This is Cringer, my fearless friend.
Fabulous secret powers were revealed to me the
day I held aloft my magic sword and said, By
the power of Grayskull! Hello, this is Optimus
Solo and welcome... to the third chapter in Tales
of Eternia. With me for this journey into the
Masters of the Universe franchise, again, as
he will be for the entire journey, is TFGO and
Mike himself? Yes, that's right. Are you ready
to continue with the powers of Grayskull, sir?
Yes, I'm having tons of fun doing this series
because it's so much better than the other podcast
we started. I think it was the best thing we
could have ever done to do Mascara before this
because it makes this series so much more fun
to watch. Sorry, mask fans. In this episode of
Tales of Eternia, we'll be giving you our thoughts
on episode seven, Creatures from the Tar Swamp,
episode eight, Song of Solis, and episode nine,
She -Demon of Phantos. So we hope you're ready,
because it's time to go back to Eternia. What's
that? have need of your special talents! You
have the primeval potion right here! With this
magic brew, I can bring back any of the prehistoric
monsters that perished in this swamp, and I'll
use those monsters in my conquest of Palisthenia!
They're Paris! Oh no! I gotta warn them! Alright,
so for Episode 7, Creatures from the Tar Swamp...
First of all it aired in September 13th 1983
and it was co -written by two different people
one Richard Pardee and The other a familiar face
again Paul Dini who usually writes good stuff
As far as the plot for creatures from the tar
swamp The beautiful yet extremely snobby Lady
Edwina arrives in the Royal Palace. Her arrival
prompts Orko to seek out his magic medallion
in order to impress her and shower her with gifts.
Orko discovers the evil warrior's latest scheme,
resurrecting the prehistoric creature from the
Tar Swamp in a plan to attack the Royal Palace.
The monster diverts He -Man and his friends as
Skeletor and Evil Lin take their places upon
the Thrones of Eternia. And we're left to figure
out how... He -Man and the Masters of the Universe
will combat Skeletor, Evil Lin, and their new
creature from the Tar Swamp. As far as bad guys,
you get Beast Man, Skeletor, and Evil Lin. And
the good characters you see, obviously, Adam,
He -Man, Cringer, Battle Cat, the King, the Queen,
Orko, Tila, Man -at -Arms, and Stratos. This
is for Count Marzo. I hate this fucking episode.
Really? Hate it. I absolutely hate it. The only
part about this is I like the bits with Orko
that we kind of get a little bit of his backstory.
But this episode overall sucks for one simple
reason. Lady Edwiner. That bitch whines so much
it's not even funny. Now, I can understand not
liking her. I can understand not being a fan
of her character. I mean, obviously she's written
to be detestable. But I thought the plot and
everything goes really well together into this
episode. You start with a little bit of getting
some backstory on Orko, how he came to Eternia,
how Adam and Cringer meet him, why his magic
went from working to being kind of a bumbling
idiot at times and with his magic not working.
You have the arrival of this character. Oracle
likes her, gets the idea of trying to regain
his power, his magical power, goes to that which
smoothly transitions into what Skeletor is doing
because he's also doing something with the Tar
Swamp. The warrior or the creature is resurrected,
has the medallion stuck to him, and it's Oracle's
discovery of you can't just be enamored with
some girl because you think she's gorgeous, whatever
you got to be able to see past the outer image
and see the real person. You know, so throughout
the whole episode, he's growing as a character.
We finally figure out that everybody figures
out that Lady Edwina is Edwina. Edwina is a snob.
You know, she gets reprimanded by the King and
Queen. Oracle makes her the butt of a joke. So
I thought it was all wrapped up really nicely.
We got some cool scenes in between there. I thought
the plot went really well together. can understand
not liking her but now that you're talking about
it I can kind of come around to it but I'm of
the mind if one thing ruins an episode for me
I don't like the episode and sadly with this
she's it she's not even attractive no she's not
as most females in a lot of cartoons were not
even though they were meant to be I mean, you
know, Teal is attractive. Sorceress, for her
age, she's attractive. Hell, even Queen Marlene
is attractive. This bitch, she look like a three
-dollar hoe from Stark Street. She is ugly and
she is annoying. I'll give you that 100%. And
then, of course, we got our lesson at the end,
which was given to us by He -Man, and the lesson
is, don't buy friends. Don't try to buy your
friends or win them over by gifts. They should
be your friends because they want to be your
friends Okay, this is probably this might be
and I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not looking ahead
in the script here But this might be the only
lesson in this episode of tales of Eternia that
actually has something to do with the actual
episode that it's in I also very much appreciate
this lesson Yeah, number one how well it ties
into the episode and number two This is a lesson
that every kid has to learn Yeah, it's not about
being popular. It's not about winning over a
popularity contest by you know Always doing something
or bending over backwards for friends at school
or people who you think you want to be friends
You know, it's really try to judge people for
who they are and see past the fakeness right
exactly the other reason why I kind of hated
this episode was because of the fact that She
essentially tries to peer pressure Orko into
not saving his true friends. Yeah. And that really
pissed me off. I can see why. Yeah. Alright,
that's... So, any other thoughts on the plot
of Tar Swamp? No. Alright, well, let's make our
way to Grayskull, then. So I have a feeling that
we're going to find that I found much more roaming
the halls of Grayskull than you did for this
episode. So let you go first here. What were
your Castle Grayskull moments? Oh, baby Cringer.
Even though he's not really like a tiny kitten,
but he's still smaller than his adult self. That's
true. I love how Orko wants to fight Skeletor.
He even puts his dukes up just like another cartoon
character. Puppy power! No comment. Stratos to
the rescue! Oh, that was when Tila and Man in
Arms were falling out of the sky, I think. Yeah.
Just as you said last week, I too am praising
the music in this series. The backgrounds are
absolutely amazing with the little, just the
littlest of notes in the music. It's very, very
cool. Agreed. I love seeing Skeletor and Evil
in on the Eternian throne. That was probably
one of the best moments of the episode. Yeah.
My actual note here is Skeletor and Evelyn on
the throne. No, not that throne. But yeah, it
was kind of cool seeing them on the royal throne.
Stratos 2, Evelyn 0. That's true too. My final
another 1 -up on her. But that's pretty much
all I had for this. Alright, well I got a lot
more now. Okay, I will echo your sentiments on
Skeletor and Evil Incident on the Throne. I think
so far that's been one of the best scenes of
the entire series. I agree that seeing not only
a young cringer, but a young Adam was very cool.
Even though Adam still looks like a little girl.
Yeah, but just seeing them in their younger self
was the whole thought of the explanation of how
Orko got to Eternia. Yeah, I do like that. And
how he lost some of his magical abilities. was
very cool. So I thought it was a very cool episode
to see the way Oracle got there. That's the first
time we've, besides the Queen, that's the first
other character that we've seen as far as how
their backstory is. Well, besides Sorceress and
Tila. Well, I mean, I mean how they actually
got to Eternia. I mean, I guess we kind of see
how Tila gets to Eternia since she's born there.
But as far as someone that wasn't there to begin
with. Right. Right. Yeah. I also thought it was
cool to see Orko's room. He had a cool room.
Any kid would like that room? Yeah. I thought
there was a clever piece of dialogue and writing
in early on in the episode where Lady Edwina
is being introduced to the group, including the
king and queen Tila. Man -at -arms and of course
Adam. I don't remember which one of them is doing
the introducing but when they get to man -at
-arms They introduce him by saying, you know,
here's a king. Here's a queen. Here is our man
-at -arms Duncan Yeah, and How his name man -at
-arms fits into he that's what his duty was he
was the man -at -arms and the way they said that,
our man in arms, Duncan, was cool. I'm not sure
if that's one of the first times we go, I actually
heard him called Duncan in the series or not.
It may have been the first time they used that
name, I'm not sure, but I just thought it was
a clever way that they threw that in there. Yeah.
I know they use it more as we go on in different
scenes, and it's mainly only used between him
and the King. Yeah. Between Duncan and the King
is really where it's used. Yeah, I think I remember
that being the case too. We finally get an episode
where it took more than 10 minutes for him in
to appear There you go. So I liked that it wasn't
just instant human within the first, you know
five minutes of the show. That was cool Um, I
love how Skeletor is holding orco when they're
marching toward the palace Skeletor and Evelyn
and the and the creature that they've gotten
they're marching toward the palace and he's just
like holding orco so nonchalantly That I thought
it was really funny You'll have you know, if
anyone doesn't know what I'm talking about go
back and watch the episode There was another
cliffhanger as far as going into the commercial
break, which was fine. I like that Because as
a kid, I always remember seeing those and being
like oh commercial I gotta can't wait till it
comes back Even though you knew whoever was in
trouble was not gonna be in trouble anymore Right.
Yeah, I do like the fact that they expect At
least it was attempted for Stratos to explain
why he was there Yeah, he didn't just randomly
ambiguously show up. He kind of tries to explain
why he was there. I also thought it was cool
that he went to help He -Man and to see one of
the Masters having to help He -Man, because up
to this point in the series we haven't seen a
lot of times where He -Man was in trouble and
one of the Masters had to help him. So I thought
it was cool also seeing them kind of helping
each other, you know, side by side working together.
There's a funny look on the monsters, the creature
from the Tar Swamp's face when He -Man grabs
him. It's kind of like a cartoony shot, but I
kind of enjoyed that. And my two biggest things
come at the end. You know, I could see some people
not liking the way this episode ends, but I thought
it was genius. Oracle gets his medallion back,
and the medallion basically gives him anything
he wants, anything he wishes, and he kind of
forgets that he has it, so to speak, and he says
something about, I wish this would have never
happened, and boom, the whole episode gets erased.
I'm like, that's genius. This episode never even
took place, basically. He wished the whole thing
away. It goes right back to the beginning. And
I thought that was clever as hell as a way to
end an episode. You don't see that very often.
And to top that off, Orko's joke at the end on
Lady Edwina was fantastic, and she got her just
desserts. Yep. I don't think this is a good point.
This might be a bad point, but I forgot to bring
it up in the blot. If we weren't cousins, I cringed
at that line. I think I found that in Snake Mountain
somewhere. Okay. Let's make our journey there.
You remember Adam, of course. Can this really
be little Adam? Just look at the way you grow.
I swear, if we weren't cousins. So, even though...
I found a lot of moments in the castle. I'm sure
that you have more moments in Snake Mountain.
So I will go, let me start with the thing you
just mentioned. Yeah. Which is one of the worst
lines so far of the entire series. Yes. Which
is Lady Edwina and He -Man talking, in which
case she says, I swear if we weren't cousins.
Well, no, hold on. It was Adam. Oh, Adam says
that. It wasn't he, man. It was Adam. Yeah. Oh,
I'm sorry. Yeah, she was talking to Adam, and
that's what she says, right? She says, yeah.
I'm sorry. What? Yeah. What did they just put
in a kid's cartoon? They have family members
lusting after each other and saying, man, if
we weren't family, we'd get it on right now.
Oh, my God. That's terrible. That was a terrible
time. Yeah, that's so bad. Just so horrible.
We might have to make everybody listen to that
one. I only had three other ones, so I'll just
get them out of the way real quick. Go ahead.
First of all, Orko, at one point, they were doing
like a flashback or something or showing how
he was a hero. Right. And he is basically wearing
a... They give a shot of him wearing a hero trophy.
Like a medal around his neck. And the animation
on that's terrible. Not the animation, but the
design on that's terrible. The design on it is
bad. It's literally a trophy that says hero across
it. It's horrible. Um, so that was... Let's go
to the local trophy store! It was worse than
anything you'd find there, actually. Even though
I liked that Stratos explained why he was there,
it was a terrible explanation. It was a terrible
explanation for him to be... I don't even remember
what he... What did he say? Oh, I'll have to
go back and get the exact quote, but it's just
something that's so, like... I came over to borrow
a cup of sugar. No, I mean it was just like oh
just passing through type thing I mean it was
it was a bad explanation of why he was there
so All -in -one that scene was both good and
bad when he explains why he is in the area Right,
and I don't quite understand How that one monster
get trapped in the tree? He's flying Stratos
flies through this tree or whatever the monster
flies and runs into the tree I get that the monster
ran into the tree and that might have hurt. No,
it was Stratos. He flew. It was a tree with branches
that crisscrossed, I think. Okay, so Stratos
was obviously small enough as far as compared
to the size of the bird. He was small enough
to fly through it. The bird's neck was small
and thin, but his body was big. So I get that
he flew through and it didn't work and it hurt
and he ran into it. Okay, put it in reverse and
get back out. They played it off like he was
trapped in the tree. Well, but that was the point.
They had to find a way to get rid of the birds.
I know, but to me he wasn't trapped in the tree.
All you had to do was back yourself out. Well,
maybe maybe he had a dinosaur brain and he didn't
think of that it was bad I could have understood
I understood what they were going for and I'm
like, okay I'll buy that if the tree is actually
trapping him, but the tree is not trapping him
He just ran into the tree So those are my only
low parts of this episode. All right So you remember
caddyshack 2 right? I know of his existence but
you You are such a horrible 80s person. Oh my
god. How can you not how can you not know Kenny?
I I know caddyshack to like the back of my hand.
Well, you know, and There's a line in there about
one of the girls that is very superficial and
The line essentially is oh shut up Mary Frances
you superficial snotty little bitch and my note
here my first note here was oh boy just what
an episode needs a superficial snotty little
bitch porco really ed whiner is getting on my
damn last nerves so you liked her as a character
no not at all uh okay now this is something that
i have a prob normally i don't have a problem
with man in arms i like man in arms as a character
but just this line just really got to me quote
Well, if he can contact He -Man for us, he'll
be doing his fair share. Man in Arms says this,
and it feels to me like he's nearly spilling
the beans on the secret to Tila. Because Tila
in the episode says, why can't Adam stay and
fight, or why can't Adam defend the palace, blah,
blah, blah. And Man in Arms essentially nearly
gives the secret away to Tila. Why she can't
be told, I don't know, in the first place, because
I mean, it's not like she's gonna go blab it
to everybody. But it's one of those things where
just the way he says it it just makes me think
that See, I thought they say I thought they did
that on intentionally because they were passing
over Prince Adam And it was his way of trying
to be like hey Prince Adam. We kind of need he
man right now Type thing and I didn't really
see it as her as a giving away anything as more
So he was just trying to signal to Adam that
help was needed The first cliffhanger man if
I was a kid Watching this at the moment of the
first cliffhanger in the episode. I have hated
to wait through the commercials back then I mean,
I know I know today in the you know age of digital
and DVR and fast -forward TV and Everything else
would be fine. But back then oh my god. Yeah,
there was no fast -forwarding through that commercial
break, you know And the final negative I have
had this whiny bitch. Okay, I am not Well, no,
no, no, hold on. I am not a violent person, but
we're going to get to that. God, this whiny bitch.
Quote, I don't care. I want out. I want to slap
this bitch. She can't even get Orko's name right.
You know, when you said you were going to drop
a lot of cusses in this episode, I didn't realize
bitch was going to be the biggest one. So for
everybody listening, you know that we are an
explicit podcast. We are an explicit podcast.
It is tag red. Mike has no filter. You know.
All right. So the final one, and it's more of
a nitpick and maybe you can explain it away.
I don't know. It doesn't irk me. It was just
kind of like that makes no damn sense. How is
Stratos flying while holding Tila in man in arms
hands? Kind of weird. It's kind of a weird gravity
thing there. Stratos has no limits. He is an
all -star Don't try to question his abilities
Apparently not and the final one because I didn't
hit the return key between the two notes Give
me a gun. I want to shoot Edwina or whatever
the fuck her name is She tries bribing or going
to not saving his friends. So apparently Edwina
for you lives in Snake Mountain Pretty much.
Okay Well, just like Orko got his hero award,
we should give out some awards of our own. We'd
better find him before he gets there. All right,
it's awards and rankings time, and let's start.
First of all, everybody knows, and we've already
said this before, that Mike and I do not discuss
our awards beforehand. We never know what each
other's are going to do. We don't know if we're
giving out any. I don't know if he's giving out
Havok staff's power swords or nothing. I don't
know what his ratings are going to be or whatever.
But I think it is fitting for in this episode
to start off with the most predictable award.
ceremony that we will probably ever have. Mike,
how about your Havoc staff? You already knew.
Beats Edwiner over the head with a Havoc staff.
And even though I disagree with you overall on
the episode, I will second that and give a second
Havoc staff to Edwina. Okay, I don't - And I'm
saying Edwina on purpose, guys. Yeah. Ed Weiner
is what it is. Or Ed Weiner. Ed is a Weiner bitch.
As far as my ranking overall, I think you're
going to be fairly surprised because of you pointing
out all the continuity bits. And I saw this going
in. It was just... That hatred for that character
just took me over in the moment of watching that
episode. Now that we've talked it out, I can
give this one a three out of five orcos. Simply
because of the story for orco, I take two points
off for that whiny bitch. I actually had a second
award that I'm going to throw out before I give
you my opinions. Sorry. No, that's okay. You're
allowed to do that. And my other one, I am going
to give a power sword out in this episode as
well. So even though Edwina was... a terrible,
awful, not likeable character. I love everything
that Orko does in this episode. Yeah. I love
that we see how he gets to Eternia. I love we
get to see the medallion aspect. I love how he
wishes the whole episode away, plays the joke
on Edwina at the end. He stands out in this episode
for me, so I will give him a power sword. And
then I will give my rating for the episode and
on a scale from zero to five, Battle Cats. This
one gets all five. I agree. You can't even take
a point off for that whiny bitch. I hate her.
Seriously. I hate her, but one character for
me doesn't ruin the episode. And it actually
adds to the reason why I like the episode so
much, because Oracle plays the joke on her, because
she is, you know... Lambasted by the king and
queen as being despicable, you know in her actions
the ending really does it though for me This
is one of the most creative endings. I've seen
in a long time watching rewatching 80s cartoon
episodes So yeah, I think it's my first five.
I got a giveaway All right. So let's head on
to our next episode song of sleaze You will sing
for me now, and your song will hypnotize the
sorceress and open Castle Grayskull. Never. I
think you can be persuaded. Evelyn! Persuade
her! With pleasure, Skeletor. That brings us
to episode 8 and for those of you that have been
commenting on the website which everybody should
do if there was ever a tale of eternity episode
that emphasized or Exaggerated the frustration
with people that are watching this on their DVD
collections. It was probably this one because
these three episodes are none of them are on
the same disc As far as the original DVD collection
that I have Not the brand new Right, right. It's
the original BC ID and the BC high ones and these
are all and it took me like four discs Because
I wasn't going on Off of like a table of contents.
I just like through the first disc in and I'm
like, okay None of the episodes are here that
I want and then I had like it took me like four
different discs before I found the first episode
And then I had to go back and use like a different
disc for each episode. So we get the frustration
We're going through it as well and I would just
watch it off in Netflix because it's easier But
I like to see the little fun facts and different
things that you can get by watching them on the
DVD release as well. So we feel your pain, but
we're doing this for a reason. And Song of Solis
came as far as aerodate the day after Creatures
from the Tar Swamps. So that was September 14th,
1983. and the writer on this one. Again, we have
two people getting credit for it on screen, which
was Jay Brin Stevens and Michael Reeves again.
So Song of Solis while visiting, visiting, I
forget how to say this one, Tehran. It's Taran.
Taran, that's right. Visiting Taran on diplomatic
business, the heroes are startled when an earthquake
begins to shake the city apart. At that moment
they meet Selyse, a beautiful woman with a voice
that can lull the monster Yogg, who resides under
the city to sleep. And as long as she can do
that, the city remains safe. When Skeletor discovers
that Selyse can manipulate stone with her voice,
he captures her and plans to use her power to
conquer Castle Grayskull. While Skeletor's plan
unfolds and the Sorceress is lulled to sleep,
He -Man chases Yogg through the caverns under
Eternia, while Tila attempts to rescue Man -At
-Arms, who is in trouble. So, in this one, for
the heroes, we see all of our basic ones, Adam,
Orko, Tila, Man -At -Arms, and then we also see
the Sorceress, who we did not see in the last
episode. Bad guys, we see Skeletor and Evelyn
and Beastman again, but this time we also get
Trapjaw. So, what are your thoughts on the plot
for Song of Solis? Skeleton's plot is for a hypnotized
singer to have the sorceress open grayskull.
See, this is my problem. Go ahead. Is that, okay,
fine, you're visiting this place for diplomatic
reason. That's a common excuse to visit places.
Sure, I'll buy that. I'll go with you on that
one. Okay, this particular environment has a
threat that they deal with the tradition, you
know They have this monster thing and they you
know It's almost like back in the day when you
had like a volcano and you had to sacrifice to
it or something like that I mean or something
weird like that like you have some threat that
you have to sacrifice to it was like that episode
of thundercats where They go to the what was
it the road? The bit the rover burbles or whatever
and they had been sacrificing to the people Everyone
food or whatever. I mean I get that that's used
a lot And she is we see Solis as an individual
who can calm this monster with her voice Then
I'm with you so far I'm with the plot then we're
asked to make the leap just because We throw
this one line in where she it says She not only
can manipulate the monster. She can manipulate
stone, too What? Now we had to make this big
jump that She doesn't just lull this monster
yogs, but she can manipulate rock or stone with
her voice And that's what the whole rest of the
plot is gonna revolve around Right exactly, so
that's just a weird leap for any for even a kid
to be like what yeah, yeah my other plot note
And I guess it could have been something you'd
find in Snake Mountain, but it's not really a
negative, it's more of a question. Who the hell
is Lizard Man? Oh, yeah. No, I don't dislike
the character. I think he's cool. It's just like
I don't remember him from the toy line as a kid
I don't remember him from seeing episodes as
a kid and that's one of the things at least for
me I don't know for you as well But as we go
along and we find out all these other characters
some of them We're not gonna remember him or
and we're gonna have these questions who the
hell is this or who the hell is that? It's interesting
that you bring that up And this is kind of one
of the reasons why I want to view this as we
would have viewed it um In airdate order as a
kid. Yeah now the dvd in the special facts about
this episode Says that this is the second and
last appearance of lizard man But in airdate
order this would have been the first time Yeah,
you saw lizard man and it makes sense for it
to be the first time Because they're visiting
this place where he resides Right. So it makes
more sense in this situation to view them in
airdate order because it explains where we meet
him and then he comes into play in another episode
which in this case is a Kind of interesting that
it comes the very next episode if you do it airdate
order Right. So I think that's kind of an interesting
thing and kind of why we're doing it this way
But yeah lizard man comes out of nowhere and
I definitely did not remember him From my childhood
that well, I don't yeah, I don't remember. No,
I I don't dislike him. I think he's very cool
I thought I was it was very interesting. Yeah
See, but it was just like one of those moments
like To me this episode would have been fine
Like you have this threat you have yog. It's
a legit threat He's a big old monster. Awesome
havoc. We got the girl who can stop it. So Skeletor
could kidnap her because then Yogg will go crazy.
He -Man will be busy dealing with Yogg and Skeletor
can do something on his own. It's the way that
they had to use Selyse to manipulate the stone
and have her play a part in Castle Grayskull
that I just don't buy and I can't get on board
with. Like I think there was a potential with
this plot. Yeah, her to manipulate stone with
her voice is stupid That's my feelings on the
plot The other fun facts here It's the only time
we see the planes of perpetua, which is a some
scenery we see the lake of fire Which man -at
-arms is dealing with is based on the underground
lake in the movie the motion picture dragon slayer
for those familiar with that And the lesson this
time was given to us by Tila. And it was, whenever
you feel down or blue, sing yourself a tune or
listen to some music and it will brighten your
day. Now, hold on before you start mocking it.
It fits with the episode since Song of Silly,
she is a singer, so it fits with the episode.
But the other thing is, and I'm noticing this
now as an adult, quote unquote adult. I don't
ever want to grow up anyway thanks Jeffrey stupid
giraffe anyway um a lot of this you know the
this message is actually a lot of what i'm hearing
um in the voice season three some of the some
of the contestants on no i'm serious some of
the contestants on the current season of the
voice on NBC Uh, some of their stories are, you
know, I went through this music was the only
thing that could get me through it. Oh yeah.
I have no doubt about music being a calling or
healing, cleansing, you know, uplifting experience.
It just came across weird to see it in this form
of like a PSA. Yeah. It's just like, I guess
it's good direction. You know, kids, when you're
feeling down or whatever, listen to some music.
It's just, it's like, I don't know what I would
have thought of that as a kid. I don't either
I would have been like Tila you're weird Yeah,
so I have some major problems with this plot
Like I said I had potential but I don't know
Let's see if I can find anything positive to
say in Castle Grayskull. The old squeeze play,
eh? So I'm searching Castle Grayskull for something
positive to say about this episode. Alright,
before you do that, let me go ahead and get mine
out of the way, since you're still looking through
the halls of Grayskull. By the power of song!
What the... I love that double take when Adam
goes to become E -Man and then all of a sudden
he stops because he hears someone singing. Yeah.
I thought that was pretty cool. Skeletor likes
building models, huh? Hmm. Toy collector in the
making. Yes. Oh no you don't, Rugface. E -Man,
insulting beast man, is just awesome. um He man's
laugh it was I don't know what it was after but
just the way he laughs some of the laughter in
this is It's not bad. I don't I wouldn't find
this in snake Mountain that now if this was another
80 show that we're doing a Supposedly be doing
a podcast on I would find this downright annoying
as hell but just his laughter is just too damn
funny to me because just the way that he puts
his hands on his hips like this and Teases yeah
back like this and ha ha ha ha ha yeah, it's
funny. It's just really funny The old squeeze
play a a key man is Canadian no That's all I
got did you find anything um I mean I thought
it was interesting to see Tila's another side
of Tila with her jealousy Early on in the episode
as far as You know being jealous of what's going
on there? I thought that was I mean, I don't
like her jealousy as a character But I thought
it was interesting to see that side of it Skeletor's
throne we haven't brought this up before But
the dude has a badass throne He does like I love
his little area in snake mountain where he sits
and reigns on high um it's just epic looking
the way it's designed the way it's animated colored
everything and especially when he sits on it
it's just cool um and he's also quite the opportunist
in this episode yes he is so i thought that was
cool to see from him um yeah castle gray skull
is kind of empty and void maybe snake mountain
has more company in it Always said you're a lightweight
Skeletor All right, snake mountain not gonna
take me quite as long Or hardest search to find
things here now a couple of them are more nitpicks
for me a couple of them are just More in the
animation coloring or design of this episode
Mm -hmm. One of them is When trap -jaw shoots
he at he man, you know he man smiles and it looks
very strange. It's very creepy. We might have
to grab that because it's just a creepy looking
smile. And then the same thing with He -Man again,
when he's holding one of the rocks above his
head, it looks like one of his, I think it's
his right arm and left torso or body part. And
then his left arm and his right stomach slash
chest are different colors. Don't know if he
goes tanning, but it's just a weird Just miss
coloring that you can see in that one. So just
like a little nitpick there as far as the actual
episode Zero G bubble. Yeah, that was Where'd
that come from? That was a little strange zero
gravity bubble. All right, I like the effect
of Yeah, I mean, it's kind of funny just when
they shut it off and like, I'll trap him in a
zero G bubble. What? And the writers just must
have been in a hurry because Skeletor gives Beastman
the most vague orders ever. It's like, Beastman,
use your animal manipulating power to solve this
problem. Like what? He just turns to Beastman
and is like, hey, it's an animal, Beastman, do
your thing. No specific order, no like, hey,
stop that animal from doing this, or use this
animal to do this. It's like Beastman, animal,
do you, go. Like what? I need a little more specificity
in my orders from my villains. So I don't know,
those were the parts kind of, besides the whole
music moving stone and rock. which i think is
obvious so i didn't list it here yeah yeah i
have one big long complaint and it's more of
a discussion point for us rather than me just
saying oh f this or f that or bitch this or bitch
that um that's you're just upping the bitch count
we all love the adam to he -man transformation
scene but i have to call it into question the
second time adam attempts to transform He and
Cringer are just outside the room where Evelyn
and Trapja are trying to kidnap the singer. They
essentially run around the corner. And he draws
the sword, etc, etc, etc. Are you telling me
no one in the next room would hear them? I mean,
seriously, is the transformation scene supposed
to be just for us, the audience? Or is it supposed
to be in -universe that people might hear this
thing and might actually look around a fucking
corner to see what's going on? He whispered it.
He did not whisper it. That was in his head that
he was saying that. He didn't actually say it.
Right. But seriously though, I mean, do you think
that that's not... Kind of messed up that he
just goes around the corner and no one notices
Well, it can't be happening exactly like we see
it because the way we see it like lightning and
all kinds of craziness happens that can't be
happening every time he does that so I guess
How much of that? Transformation sequence is
actually happening and how much is I guess just
for us or just to show us that something is changing
Is a good question Yeah, and I'm hoping someone
like Count Marzo or Pixel Dan or, you know, even
Mike Lacey or someone that - I gotta say that
most of it's just for us. Probably is, but there's
just some times, and this was one of those times
where it's like - Well, otherwise Skeletor could
easily figure out who He -Man is, just like,
look for the lightning in the sky that happens
every once in a while, and where it's going down,
and you will find that there's a connection.
Exactly. So that's all you have bad to say about
this episode. Pretty much, yeah. You're kind
beyond your years. Well, you know, that other
show that will be out in a couple of weeks, because
this will be out as soon as we're done recording
it, but that other show, I wasn't too kind, so
I figured out what the hell. But no, I didn't
really, like, I sat here and I watched this episode,
and I liked it. I mean, there are nitpicks I
could have written down, you know, but. Overall,
I really enjoyed this one. Alright, well let's
see if there's any similarities in our award
presentations. Alright, Song of Solis viewers
and listeners. How about you? Let's start with
you. Do you have a power sword or havoc staff?
I predicted your one for your last episode. I
cannot predict this one No, I don't actually
Not for this one There were no moments in this
where any character or any part of the story
stood out to me at all You know, I went in I
closed last segment out by saying let's see if
there's any similarities in our award presentations
So maybe for the first time or I don't know if
we've done this before where neither of us have
a thing No, this is the first yeah, there was
nobody that stood out in a good or bad way for
this episode to me It was just kind of blah You
know, and it's a nitpick on our part if we gave
a Havoc staff to Skeletor for his lame brain
plot of, you know, controlling her to get control
of the Sorceress. If it was true that the song
controls stone, then I can't blame Skeletor for
it. No, I know, but his main plot was he wanted
Solis to sing to allow the Sorceress to open
Grayskull. Right. he wanted this he wants least
to control the sorceress essentially and that
to me is more so a nitpick yeah that's you know
that's that's not worthy of a havoc staff I mean
it's not that bad of a moment it's not a gas
a bad part of the plot but it's not like you
know well if we weren't cut you know if we weren't
cousins I want to beat that bitch over the head
with a habit reappearance never happened Thank
you, Orko. As for ratings, I'm going to be not
as nice as you. This is very lucky to get the
rating that it is for me. I will squeak it out
with three Battle Cats. I'm going to do the same.
Even though I enjoyed it, it's still, there are
certain things that just don't make it a good
episode. So it also gets three Orkos for me because
it just wasn't. as we just said there are no
outstanding moments there are no like okay the
very first episode of the series you know I had
all that emotional connection of remembering
you know what the you know I command the job
bridge open and then you know all this not there
was nothing here good or bad to warrant anything
higher than a three this wasn't an awful awful
episode I'll give you that much it just wasn't
a good episode for me and Like I said, it's lucky
to get a three from me. We are in complete agreement
in our complete segment here, and I am scared.
We need to change topics, and the best way to
do that is to change to a new episode. Come out
now? Queen Elmora, you've outdone yourself. The
strength of the shields and weapons made from
your Fultanium are without equal. Fortunately
for me. Well, it's always a pleasure to make
this trip here to the moon of Phantos and visit
your highness. You may take your shipment of
Fultanium man -at -arms as we have agreed. Now
leave me. Queen Elmora, forgive me, but, well,
you seem different. Is something wrong? Everything
is fine. We shall go home now. King Randor appreciates
your kindness in giving us this fine metal. With
it, I'll be able to fashion it into the strongest
defence for Eternia. Yes, you have outdone yourself,
Elmora. But little do they know they're shipments
of Fultanium. will now be coming to me. What
they are taking with them is worthless metal
ore. You've had your way, Skeletor. Now release
my men and leave Vontos. I don't think you understand,
El Mora. I'm in control here. Take them to the
dungeons and see they are made uncomfortable.
How dare you! To do better than that, El Mora!
The people of Phantos will not bow to your evil
skeletal! So that means it's time for episode
9 in air date order, which would have been an
air date of September 15th, 1983. The episode
title is She -Demon of Phantos, and it is written
by the family duo, I assume, whether it be brothers
or father and son or uncle and whoever, grandpa,
Ron and Sam Schultz. I'm just guessing here.
Um, and the plot of She -Demon of Phantos goes
something like this. Thanks to the kindness of
Queen Elmora, Prince Adam and Man -At -Arms take
photanium, the strongest substance on the planet
Phantos, back to Eternia. Everyone is confused
when it turns out that the photanium is fake
and the heroes immediately journey to Castle
Grayskull for some answers and a refund. The
sorceress tells them that Queen Elmora is now
working alongside Skeletor, much to their horror.
What the heroes do not yet realize is that Elmora
has been transformed by Skeletor into the evil
she -demon of Phantos, and they must figure out
how to break the spell. So the bad guys in this
interesting collection here, we have Skeletor,
a mute merman, and Strongarm. Masters we have
Man at Arms, Adam, Warco, Teela, Cringer, Sorceress,
Stratos, and the second appearance, even though
they're claiming it's the first, of Lizardman.
So we met Lizardman last episode, and now he
is with the Masters, which I know we're not talking
about it yet. This very much reminds me of how
the trend was in the 2002 or 2003. 2002 2002
series where they would come across people in
their journeys and then the people would join
the group or Occasionally show up and have that
connection It's like they they went to the place
in the last episode They met lizard man and now
he is kind of part of the group even though we'll
never see him again As a kid you're like, okay,
I get that they met him last time now. He's helping
him out and then of course an interesting appearance
for the only appearance of Strongarm. Yeah. That's
one of the fun facts on the DVD, that this is
the only appearance of Strongarm as one of the
evil warriors. And I don't know if I remember
him or not. I remember someone like him, but
I'm not 100 % that I was remembering this person
correctly or not, but he was an interesting character.
I remember the toy of him, I believe. I believe
there was a... I don't believe I remember a toy
with like the big metal arm or something like
that. Maybe I'm misremembering that, but someone
will fill me in, I'm sure. Between, just before
I talk about the actual plot here, I'm going
through and looking up these two writers and
I can't find any information on either one of
them as far as whether they're brothers, whether
they're husband and wife. I would like to think
in my own little realm that they are. Brother.
They are grandpa and grandson. But I kind of
dug the plot a little bit No, I love the plot.
I think it's great. I think it's it's you know,
it's uh, you know, it's a I want to get geek
cred for this because why my connection As soon
as I see El Mora Being turned into the she demon
a phantos by Skeletor which in essence was just
him super aging her Yeah, I could not help but
remember the episode in Star Trek the next generation
where Dr. Pulaski is in some type of laboratory
with some type of Test going on on plants or
something where she begins to turn old. Right.
It's really creepy the way they do it and I kept
remembering that and I thought it was cool the
effects and the design that they used as she
went from Queen Elmora to the She -Demon. Yeah.
But I don't have too much of a problem with this
plot. It's standard that we're starting off visiting
some strange remote area or planet or whatever.
They don't really talk too much about how they
get there Or how they get back no not really
but but you would think if if Marlena had a ship
yeah and That crash landed on Eternia that somehow
man -at -arms took the technology from that and
built them their own ships You would think first
instance where we've seen another planet And
on Eternia hasn't it I mean, we've maybe... Yeah,
I think this is the first instance of a different
planet. Yeah, and that they have the ability
to journey to another planet outside of Eternia.
That's interesting, you know, having Photanium
or Krypton or some strange substance is not foreign
to us. That's interesting. Photanium is a cool
name, I guess, for it. So I have no problem with
the main premise of this plot and that Skeletor
wants to take control of this planet that...
Produces the strong substance that makes sense
to me. It makes more sense song changing stone
Yeah, exactly. I you know, the episode starts
off great. You don't know what the heck is going
on cuz it is again this series Unless it's specifically
stated this series is not like mask where it's
automatically assumed that oh, it's The main
villain, you know, you never know what's gonna
happen in this series and it starts off really
great with Queen Elmore kind of acting strange.
He man, or not he man, Adam and man in arms kind
of think something's up, et cetera, et cetera,
et cetera. They leave and lo and behold Skeletor
is behind the curtain. I put it in the plot notes
because I thought that was kind of silly that.
What are you doing in my throne room, you know
the Skeletor is the Wizard of Eternia I think
that's a great connection and I did kind of like
seeing Skeletor as kind of like the behind -the
-scenes type person for a second That was cool.
Yeah, the other it's not so a plot thing It's
more of an overall series thing and I guess I
could have saved this to the end But it I wrote
it down here I get that he meant incorporate
sword and sorcery and we've seen them travel
to different planets and through time because
I think I don't know, whatever. But what is the
actual classification for this series genre?
I mean, outside of boys action cartoon, it seems
as if it takes a whole bunch of genres and melds
them together. It's a hero fantasy type deal.
I mean, more fantasy than sci -fi, but with touches
of it, I guess. Fantasy is allowed to do that.
Yeah. Well, no. I mean, I'm not saying it's a
bad thing. I was just kind of curious, because
it's like... In what nine episodes we've had
so many different things and so many different.
I mean the main genre is sword and sorcery and
and and and kind of science fiction kind of thing
with man -in -arms and his inventions and stuff,
but I Know it just kind of It's kind of weird
for me, but overall no, I love the plot. I think
it's great I can buy there's nothing that stands
out like why did they do this or why are they
doing this at all fits together? The only thing
I would nitpick is not necessarily a plot thing
but it kind of fits with the plot of as They
age her up. She essentially turns into evil in
Because it's the evil in voice when she gets
older Yeah, and the lesson that we got was from
he man was kind of a weird one on this one think
safety all the time This made no sense whatsoever
to this episode. It's kind of weird Didn't really
buy this as a cool PSA Didn't have anything with
the episode. It was very vague. It's just like
that's almost like a paranoia one Yeah, really
you better be safe at all times. You never know
when something's gonna happen. Ah, no, I don't
like it No, I don't like it at all either that's
let's not think too safely as we go off on our
journey to Castle Grayskull Has cast a spell
over her and now controls her and her planet
Phantos. We've got to help her. By the power
of Grayskull! Things I found while rummaging
around Castle Grey Skull for the She -Demon of
Phantos are as follows. First of all, I thought
the episode had a decent ending. Not as epic
of an ending as we saw in the first episode of
this week's Tales with the creature from the
Tar Swamp, but... a decent ending nonetheless.
I also thought it was cool that the plot had
Skeletor taking control of the Queen in kind
of that first time where we've seen Skeletor
act as puppet master. I thought that was interesting.
I like He -Man, even though it was temporary,
being captured in the photanium sarcophagus or
whatever you want to call it. Like I thought
it was cool that he was in there he couldn't
get out and it obviously eventually he does break
out but for a temporary time he was trapped.
Right. But my highlight of all highlights for
this episode Queen Elmora who has magic powers
like a lot of people that we come across in Eternia
and the planets surrounding it uses her all -powerful
magic to defend her territory and her throne
and her castle against Skeletor and she shoots
her mighty magic at Skeletor and Skeletor's defense
of the Queen's magic was hilarious. He just basically
sticks his hand out like, what are you doing?
Like, your puny magic is not a threat to me.
I thought it was hilarious sequence when she's
like, I'll shoot you and he's just like, what?
Is like get your little piddly magic away from
me. So those were like my favorite parts of this
episode Yeah, uh, I like seeing adam fight and
test out the new metal even though obviously
the metal is fake But I open with a cool fight
right from the beginning. Yeah, what the heck
is going on here? Yep And when you see the uh,
the when they're fighting later and the things
are just breaking apart Yeah Fine LOL moment
when orco actually wants to go clean up his room
Whoa two episodes in a row with lizard man cool.
Yeah, don't get used to it. You'll never see
him again never see him again exactly And I thought
that was devilishly clever Skeletor making her
think he man is skillet making her think he man
is himself a skeleton I do it Should I do what
we haven't done all episode and make a Transformers
reference? Sure. Almost like that episode when
there was two Optimus Primes. Which one is the
real one? No, it wa - Yeah, I - Okay, I can kind
of see it. That's the real Skeletor. No, he's
the real Skeletor! Yeah, I can kind of see the
- I do like that they did the - they did it so
they don't - I like the effects that they made
it so that we could tell it was only her seeing
it. Right that's that's that's the difference
between This and they weren't both solid skillet
or they both didn't look like Skeletor One just
had like a fight because everyone else is like,
what are you talking about? That's he man Yeah,
and I just thought that was funny and that and
I like the way that they used their history to
remember and then she trapped them both Which
was an easy tell of which one could get out of
the chains exactly yeah I really like that but
that's um that's pretty much all I had I mean
I overall I just really enjoyed this episode
again a lot of some of these episodes when when
I watch them if I just enjoy them for enjoying
them I'm probably not gonna write anything down
because I have nothing to nitpick or nothing
to like overtly praise so I just enjoy it to
enjoy it nothing wrong with that let's see what
we enjoy in stigma I think I'll go clean up my
room. Wait a minute, I'll help you. Alright,
in Snake Mountain, I only have a couple things
to point out. First of all, I find it funny that
I didn't even realize I wrote this word in my
But I commented on you using the word bitch so
often earlier on in the episode, and I have the
word bitch written down here in my Snake Mountain
moments. Concerning Tila. Not only did she whine
like a bitch That she wasn't involved and that
she had to stay in charge of the guard But then
she doesn't follow orders and actually stay in
and watch the castle Yeah, or the palace and
she leaves which technically could have left
the pastel completely unguarded and whatnot and
it's just like a very Untila like thing to do
because usually she's the one going by the books
and she's the reliable obedient, you know Following
the rules and guidelines and whatnot and she
just freaking whined because she didn't get to
go and then she went anyways You know, I'm glad
that they yelled at her at the end of the episode.
She was acting like a bitch Another thing that
was out of character for this episode early on
when they were searching or they were going toward
I think they were journeying to Find Queen Elmore
or whatever And something was threatening them
and or whatever was happening battle cat jumps
and tries to attack this vision or whatever yeah
he would have known that's not battle cat to
do that like it was out of nowhere and it was
like a moment where battle cat got angry and
couldn't control himself and jumped head -on
into something that they couldn't explain and
like disappeared for it basically I believe if
I'm remembering right and it just seemed out
of character for battle cat to act that way Was
he was this in the scene when he was when Elmora
was the she demon? Yeah, and he like tries to
attack. Oh Because she had captured he man. It
was just a weird Yeah, it was just weird there
The whole group is there and like battle cat
jumped out of nowhere to attack this thing and
it was it just seemed odd to me And my other
one's just a personal nitpick, but why is merman
mute in this episode? Yeah, it's merman and strong
-arm basically and they're running the show but
merman never speaks a single word in this episode
and It has a cool voice and I wanted to hear
it and I hadn't seen merman in a while I was
like, oh merman you're in this episode and then
you never spoke and I got sad So that's my other
snake mocking moments merman. Let let merman
speak What about you? Strong arm, really? That's
the guy's name? Kind of generic, ain't it? And
again, another character that, do we ever see
this guy again? Yeah. My other one. So putting
a control spell on Elmore makes her grow old
and sound like Evelyn, huh? I mean, I know the
voice acting, you know, as much as I praise the
voice acting, but I know voice acting back then
was like, you know, three, you know, three voices
per session, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.
But it just seems, it just seems weird that her
as, as a young woman would have almost a Tila
or a sorceress like voice. Cause I know it's,
I know it's Linda Gary doing it. And then as
she gets older she turns into evil and I just
found that a little annoying But overall like
I said, I really enjoyed this one. I thought
it was I thought it was great overall So I really
don't have too many other things for st. Mountain
Fine, then let's see you unlike last episode
if we can actually hand out any hardware Unlike
last episode I have some hardware to give out
and I'm assuming you do as well. Um, yeah, I
actually do I think Okay, this might be ironic
I Got to give a power sword to Adam for actually
fighting as himself Even though even though it
was only a test in a practice How often are we
gonna see Prince Adam? We'll fight a weapon of
some sort Yeah, I mean honestly how often that's
as close as you ever see Prince Adam being towards
you, man Yeah, yeah, what about you for a war?
I got a couple Okay, I gotta give a Havoc staff
out to Tila Beat the bitch over there didn't
follow orders you left the palace unguarded you
deserve to be chastised with a Havoc staff And
in the words of the first episode that we talked
about, even if Man -At -Arms was doing it, it's
alright that you're related, he can still beat
you. I will give out a power sword as well, even
though you didn't like him. Thought strong arm
was cool in this episode. No, okay. It's not
that I didn't like him So I just thought that
he would have had a cool The reason I like him
is for a couple of reasons in this episode. He
shows up. First of all, he looks cool Even though
his coloring is a little bit weird, but he looks
like a badass like a Darth Maul with spikes coming
out of him with us really strong arm so I like
the look of him and He is the first person We
have seen not some random monster that's being
created. That's a Sky as tall as a skyscraper
or as big as a mountain. This is the first evil
warrior who has Come close. I know he means the
strongest person in the world can't ever be beaten
This is the first evil warrior that has come
close to matching his might He just takes his
arm slams the ground and just stops everything,
pushes He -Man into the photanium chamber basically,
and shuts him and locks him up for a good portion
of the episode. Well, a couple minutes of the
episode at least. And I thought that was cool.
Like, this was someone that wasn't afraid of
He -Man. He's like, I'll take you on. He tried
his best, succeeded up to a point. The only failure
was following through once they had him trapped.
you know Skeletor or Strongarm or somebody should
have done something with that instead of just
going back and being like well he's taken care
of we'll leave them to their own devices well
he's probably gonna get out so that was stupid
but overall I thought it was a if you only got
one appearance it was a strong pun intended appearance
so power sword to the Strongarm and I wish I
would have seen you again at some point in the
future but we know we won't episode ratings My
favorite episode of the day I got to give it
a four to five there are a couple nitpicks You
know But but overall really really really enjoyed
it The only reason why it doesn't get a five
is because there's no It's not like time corridor
or Tila's quest where They were just amazing
episodes and we didn't get to really see inside
anybody's past or inside anybody's real, right?
There's no real character development in this
episode but overall as a singular story, you
know beginning middle end I Really enjoyed it.
I thought it was great. So four or five orcos
for me. I really enjoyed it as well I'm not going
to say I enjoyed it quite as much as I enjoyed
the creatures from the Tar Swamp because something
about the way that episode ended just for me
was magical and Orca was awesome. I do like the
whole Skeletor Puppet Master, Queen Elmora turning
old, Strongarm having his appearance, seeing
Lizard Man a second time. So there's a lot of
good parts about it. I'm not going to quite rate
it at the top of the scale though. I'm going
to agree with you and give it 4. out of five
battle cats. So we both gave the last one three,
we both will give this one a four. So with that,
we will take a break. You will hear some of the
stuff that we have mentioned throughout the episodes
and some other stuff probably thrown in there,
and we will be back to give our thoughts on the
series up to this point. It is me! Like animation?

It's called friendship. Orko learned that friendship
can't be bought. Giving somebody a present may
get that person to act as if he or she is your
friend, but don't be fooled. A real friend is
someone who likes you for yourself, not your
presence. So don't try to buy friendship. Just
be yourself and treat others with honesty and
respect. And then you'll know the friends you
make will be real ones. Grab your helmets because
it's time to assemble M .A .S .K .E. The GeekCast

Head on over to iTunes or the net or else I will
send you my vehicles to extract your spark and
destroy you I'd like to talk to you for just
a moment about safety when we go to the beach
there are lifeguards there to watch out for our
safety Crossing guards are in the street for
the same reason, to help protect us. Now things
like that are fine, but we can't count on someone
always being around to protect us. We should
practice thinking of safety all the time. So
don't take a chance. And that's true whether
you're crossing a street or driving a car. Think
safety. Alright, so we have gone three episodes
of Tales into our journey. We are nine episodes
completed of the series so far so we are definitely
past the honeymoon phase we are into the series
now and it's a good time to look back and think
about where we're at so far what I like about
where we have come so far in our journey I have
a good idea and feeling for what so far is the
main characters for the most part we've seen
a little bit of background now of Queen Marlena
we've seen background of Tila Kind of a tiny
bit in connection with that of the sorceress
and man -at -arms. We've seen how Orko got to
Eternia. Really the only major part that's missing,
I mean we kind of know that Prince Adam is going
to be, I mean since we know how the Queen got
there, she eventually hooks up with the King,
they have Adam, I get that. It still would be
nice to see a little bit more background into
He -Man slash Prince Adam's character, but we've
seen the majority of the other good characters.
Right with the exception of we don't know how
they met like Stratos like yeah Stratos and Ram
and all that From an evil standpoint besides
Skeletor summoning all these people we haven't
got a lot yet on the evil side of things and
We're constantly getting throwaway characters.
Well, I wouldn't say it's constantly getting
throwaway characters In nine episodes, we've
had Jitsu, we've had Strong Arms... And Lizard
Man. I mean, it's just three. See, for me, what
I was saying is I like the fact, I guess Jitsu
was before, but I like that finally once we've,
we had, with Jitsu, if you take him out of the
equation, we basically had six episodes of the
main characters over and over again. And it wasn't
until this episode of tales where now we're starting
to expand and see a lizard man or see a Strong
yeah, you know, we're starting to see that there
are other characters My only thing up to this
series at this point even when they do it even
with lizard man. We see how he comes into play
It's a consistent theme so far that all the good
characters are being explained. We're seeing
where they came from We're seeing their history.
We're seeing why they're part of the story outside
of Stratos and Rayman Right problem so far not
a big problem, but we're not getting that at
all with the evil warriors No, they're just showing
up showing up Jitsu outside of you know outside
of like Beastman and evil and all the ones they
originally introduced Any new evil warrior just
shows up for an episode and then hey see you
later Well, and yeah, and even though we got
a tiny bit with the first episode where Skeletor
summoned them all Yeah, but is he it'd be cool
if they showed even at the beginning of some
of these episodes where he gets Jitsu or where
he gets strong arm Or if I have to just think
that he can just summon random people from all
parts of the universe whenever he needs to So
that's the only part I'm waiting on to see if
that is a trend that continues or not and nobody
needs to spoil that for me I'm just that's something
I'm curious if we're gonna get Consistently see
this also if we are going to get some more mainstay
characters that stick around for more than just
an episode Again, I know all these people that
are listening probably already know the answers
to these questions But it's something I'm interested
in as we go forward. How about you? So far it's
progressing nicely You know so far my biggest
gripe is you know that wench of a cousin the
sad thing is that I think she comes back because
when I was You know you were saying you were
looking for the episode on your disks It took
me a while to find it's more so sheet even but
it took me a while to find each of the three
listed in Netflix And as I was going through
the season one listings and Netflix I saw a different
episode saying that Ed Weiner comes back and
Something I didn't I didn't read I was like,
oh crap bitch is back. Jesus Christ That's something
to look forward to but yeah, you know, that's
really my only gripe so far, you know, the stories
are Pretty solid. I wish you know we would have
some evil warriors actually come and stay like
you know I can't wait until we get around to
you know like web store and Cobra Khan and You
know all these people that eventually become
part of Skeletor's quote -unquote horde As you
know you know as he has all the other ones What
what the hell's triclops been doing? these episodes
yeah Triclops has been you know Merman showed
up finally in one episode doesn't speak at all
does speak Raman's been gone for a little while
and it's i'm also interested to see some of the
more of the the the mainstay characters how they
come in are they just randomly introduced do
they show how they meet them i'm very interested
to see since it's been so long since i've seen
this series how they go about bringing in or
introducing all these characters so yeah exactly
so that would be fun to see um so any other overall
thoughts on the series up to this point or Overall,
I I honestly want to see like okay I know in
the future and this isn't because you you already
know this you know I know in the future we get
the story of of Adam and Adora and how they're
you know Brother and sister and all that right
But it's one of those things where I want to
see how Adam Got the power. That's true. That's
what I want to see I want to see something to
where about the sword, okay About something about
the origination of the sword or how he gets the
yeah something like that You know, where does
this magical man come about and that's why I'm
kind of saying even though we know Where Prince
Adam comes from literally we don't know where
he man comes from Yeah is is the main thing that
I was saying about as far as not seeing him and
you know We've seen a lot of the supporting cast
so it's just an issue of where did that come
about more any? Backstory that has anything to
do with him and or The sorceress usually lends
little tidbits to that so I don't need to see
it all and No, I know but I mean just just like
one even one flashback episode on how Adam was
chosen to be the protector of gray skull. As
far as He -Man's background, I mentioned this,
I think it was either episode two or episode
one, I forget. The way I see Cringer in Battle
Cat is the same way I see Adam in He -Man. Adam
is the more lazy, weaker part of the personality
and He -Man is Adam wanting to be strong. and
save that you know so it's essentially the same
person even though they're they're technically
two different you know you see what i'm saying
so you know i i kind of see that but you know
just one little flashback is all i'm asking for
and i don't know if we get that like i said i
know there's an episode later down the line because
i it was one of the episodes that i remember
that i know that adam throws the you know throws
the sword into the into the abyss and and essentially
gives the power back but we never To this point,
we haven't seen any and I don't know because
I haven't watched anything past this yet. And
again, not to beat a dead horse, but we know
a lot of you listening are huge fans and have
the answers. Don't give them to us. Yes. We're
just basically talking rhetorically. Yeah. I
mean, it's one of those things where even if
it was something as small and as simple as bringing
out the memory projector again. No, seriously.
you know something as small as simple as that
where it like in Tila's quest where Marlena using
the memory projector brought back her memories
and then it led into another story of it you
know what I mean so it's just like even if it
was a one -off thing where we would see something
but yeah we're greedy for stuff like that Alright,
so thank you for listening to Tales of Eternia.
If you'd like to get in contact with us or leave

so this is the first one for the series and it's
by Tim Costell left November 2nd 2012 And it
is entitled excellent podcast on Masters of the
universe exclamation point five stars So this
is already looking good and Tim says in the typical
style of review shows from GCRN comes the latest
Tales of Eternia show, and it is great. I look
forward to each episode every week to hear what
TFG1 Mike and Optimus still have to say each
week regarding the world of Eternia and the characters
there. It's truly an enjoyable ride, and I can't
wait to hear more. Well, you don't have to wait
very much longer because here is our next episode.
Ha ha! Um, so as Mr. Tim did, you should also
leave us iTunes feedback because we love that

We hope you enjoyed the tales today and don't
forget to join us on our next adventure when
we will be discussing episodes 10, 11, and 12.
And those episodes would be Reign of the Monster,
Like Father, Like Daughter, that sounds like
it could have some backstory to it, and The Disappearing
Act. Sounds like Orko's involved there. I could
be completely wrong with all these guesses, but
I feel like I should make predictions now every
time I read an episode title. Well, father and
daughter, it's gonna be man in arms and Tilo.
I know, but I feel like we can get something
there. We can get some, some type of background
there. For now, I am Optimus Solo with... DFU
and Mike. And by the powers of Grayskull, we
leave you all with the power.
