podcast that you want to be listening to. Ladies
and gentlemen TF2 on Mike here, and I've only
had to do this on One other podcast in my eight
years of podcasting experience This is a disclaimer
optimus solo, and I get extremely graphic In
the later part of this episode of powers gray
skull tales of Eternia. It's in regards to the
episode search for a son So you have been warned,
this is not safe for work, not safe for children,
not safe for anybody except us geeks. So you
have been warned, this is an overtly, extremely,
immensely explicit podcast. Now, let's head to
Grayskull. I am Adam, Prince of Eternia and defender
of the secrets of Castle Grayskull. This is Cringer,
my fearless friend. Fabulous secret powers were
revealed to me the day I held aloft my magic
sword and said, By the power of Grayskull! became
the mighty Battle Cat, and I became He -Man,
the most powerful man in the universe. Only three
others share this secret. Our friends, the Sorceress,
Planet Arms, and Orko. Together we defend Castle
Grayskull from the evil forces of Skeletor. Hello,
this is optimus solo and welcome to the 41st
chapter in tales of Eternia with me for this
journey into the masters of the universe franchise
as Always still going strong still surviving
his TFG one Mike. Hello Thought he was surviving
but apparently We're in tears getting to him
Stop being a negative Nancy. I am stay positive
shut up Am so sick and tired of him and at this
point I am NOT I I'm still not tired of it. Like
I don't I'm not worn down. I'm not burned out
I mean, yeah, it'll be nice to change over to
she ra and this that and the other but I'm not
necessarily burned out of these I mean if they
were to do the same thing over and over and over
again for 20 more episodes, I'd be burned out
but I'm not feeling the same reaction to you
as we are 41 episodes into this podcast and we're
you know we're forty one episodes in out of a
hundred and twenty five and you had mentioned
last week about how last week would be the only
time we reached the fortieth episode well yeah
that's true but as the redesign of the podcast
has gone on and we're just gonna make it a straight
you know zero to one twenty five instead of i
understand is that you know yeah it you know
it's like okay well you know episode 50 is gonna
be the only time we talk about this this and
this or episode 75 and episode 45 -5 and whatever
else and it's it's gonna be interesting and I
just I don't mean to be negative about this I
mean I do love this series in general but it's
just not The problem is this series was not made
for the television and cartoon writing that I'm
used to nowadays. It was made as a, hey, this
is an adventure of the week. Beginning, middle,
and end. And that's all well and good. It was
an amazing format for the time, but it's like,
give me more. I want more, and I know I'm not
going to get it. So this is the first of the
final five episodes dealing with the 1980s He
-Man cartoon. So we're in our final five episodes.
So are you ready for the powers of Grayskull,
sir? I suppose so. All right. Well, in this episode
of Tales of Eternia, we will be giving you our
thoughts on episode 120, Monster on the Mountain,
episode 121, The Magic Falls, and episode 122,
Search for a Sun. So we hope you're ready because
it's time to go back to Eternia. I need this
water in the forest. Ow! Oh, it's... it's not...
Alright first up today is episode 120 monster
on the mountain I find it funny that if you go
back to episode 40 of the podcast and at the
end of that episode we talked about what we were
looking forward to or what we needed to happen
here in these final five podcast episodes and
you had mentioned that you wanted to see more
of the standard writers you wanted to see more
of the names that we know well we'll start off
giving You what you wanted so episode 120 monster
on the mountain is written by Robie Gorin who
obviously is a series regular The air date is
Monday, November 26 1984. It's how we started
our week back there in 1984 and the plot goes
something like this the villagers of Ruckstown
claim to be living in fear of the so -called
Tingler a fear mountain so Adam Tila orco and
Cringer take a wind Raider I'm oh Was that the
one I'm trying to think of this is the episode
where they took something that looked exactly
like One of the Star Wars land speeders. Yes,
that's what it was So they take it out to investigate
the fear of the tingler and we'll talk about
that name here in a little bit as well The masters
involved here are your regulars including an
appearance from King Randoor we have no evil
warriors today for this episode and The PSA is
all about not believing in things you hear and
rumors and hearsay and this that and the other
the whole book is Should not be judged by its
cover type of deal here What did you think about
this idea that we have? This village apparently
that we've never seen before But regardless we
have this village off in some part of Eternia
And they have some type of fear of something
that's going on near them whether it be you know
this is the good old like Yeti slash Bigfoot
slash You know whatever you want to call it almost
similar to tie into the beauty and the beast
You know it's like that beast character where
we have somebody that everyone's afraid of everyone
thinks is evil And obviously it's a message towards
the kids about the fact that this guy is not
evil, not fearful of anything. He's the nicest
creature that you're going to come by. So, you
know, I don't know if we've seen this exact plot
too many times, but what did you think of it?
We have. No, we have. Not a ton. No, no, no.
This exact same plot was one episode before this.
The exact same plot about fearing a giant. I
forget what episode. It was something about a
giant. I remember. This is... You're too old
to remember things first. No, no, no, I'm not.
Yeah, I usually am. But in this case, no, no,
no, no, no. This pissed me off, because I'm glad
that Robi Gorn is here. But Jesus Christ, it's
the same damn script almost. Okay, maybe the
villagers weren't in the other episode, but it's
the same general idea of, oh my God, we fear
a giant. Oh my God, the giant is going to kill
us. Oh my God, where's Jack when you really need
him? Then I thought to myself as you're reading
this description here. I'm thinking Holy shit
if the tingler was an animal this would be the
fucking jungle book I don't know if I got that
vibe from it. I got a lot more connections to
the Beauty and the Beast episode We just did
you know previously I find a lot more connections
to that whole Beauty and the Beast motif, and
I'm gonna disagree with to master Tim We'll talk
about that about that episode but So from a plot
standpoint, it is something that like I said,
we haven't seen it like ad nauseam We haven't
seen like 12 episodes like this, but we've seen
a couple so to me for something like a plot like
this I'm not gonna like I'm not gonna score it
based on the plot When I get an episode like
this that is not necessarily the most unique
thing in the world I almost directly go to scoring
it based on execution. So I'm not gonna fault
it for the plot. I'm not gonna fault it for the
angle that they took on it because they did try
to Tilt it as much as they could to this whole
rumor thing And it's probably the episode that
has more of a focus than any of the other 120
episodes We've watched so far towards the actual
villagers and and the rumor part We've had only
one other time where it was even close and that
was when it was a bunch of kids that were doing
it But this time it's a bunch of adults and you
know, they're feeding that rumor mill So I kind
of appreciate the fact that they're dealing with
that because that is a major issue for all kids
growing up is Learning how to cope and deal with
rumors and gossip and that type of thing So I'm
not gonna fault it for the moral and I'm not
gonna fault it on the plot But it's an episode
that you have to have good execution in order
to be a good episode when you do this Because
you don't have anything, you know, creatively
unique or special it's going for you. So you
have to execute right so Plot -wise I'm not gonna
score it on the plot. I Will and and people we've
been doing this for 40 episodes and obviously
41 now, but Everyone knows I am crazy when I
do my point scale this this episode. I'm crazy
Shut up this I know you are what am I? Here's
the thing folks I will immediately take off any
amount of points, whether it's one star, two
stars, whatever, for something that is so stupid
and ridiculous. You know, we talked about this
last week in Beauty and the Beast. And I forget
who said, if a tea man that says it, or if it's
Adam or whomever, someone says, and I quote,
and I specifically wanted to bring this up in
the plot, because this is the stupidest thing
I've ever heard. Mount Fear is the most dangerous
mountain on Eternia. Wait, what? Hello! It was
Adam. What about Snake Mountain? Hello? I mean,
come on. Okay, yeah, I know, as He -Man, he just
walks into Snake Mountain and, you know, he can
pretty much kick their asses, but for everybody
else in Eternia, Snake Mountain would have to
be the most dangerous mountain on the friggin'
planet. Not Mount Fear. I mean, Mount Fear sounds
like a place where the Batman villain Scarecrow
should live, for crap's sake. Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
What was the PSA again? Not just about the rumors,
basically. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, that is a good
moral and is a good lesson. You know, you should
never believe everything you hear, believe everything
you read and all this and all that. You know,
so I did like that. And I think you're right.
The execution is kind of sucky here. I'm not
saying I'm not saying whether the execution is
good or bad. I'm saying with an episode like
this that... It's somewhat something that we've
somewhat seen before and it's not like a super
creative concept as far as a plot goes that's
when I Judge purely based on execution and you'll
have to wait to see if I think that's a good
execution or bad episode execution on this episode
But I'm not gonna fault it for its plot It's
not a great plot. I'm not gonna fault it for
it. I Kind of am because it like I said there
was another episode we talked about and I think
it was even in season 2 where people or someone
is scared of a giant and Alright super fan tune
master Tim go back and find me which episode
that was because I know I've seen this before
recently or it might have been It's called Beauty
and the Beast No, it was not called Beauty and
the Beast. Thank you very much. We'll figure
it out. What it yeah Yeah, anyway, so let's get
to castle grayskull and I will tell you why I
think this execution was either good or bad Wait,
we're not supposed to have bad stuff in castle
grayskull. I know if I don't say anything, you'll
know it's bad I received an urgent request from
Squire Wilkins of Rockstown Rockstown. Isn't
that one of our colonies in the north country?
Yes, Tila A small colony with no close neighbors.
The people of Rockstown are good, hard -working
people, but they're a little naive. They believe
in superstitions and such. But I'm afraid one
of their superstitions may be very real indeed.
Have you ever heard of the Tingler? The Tingler?
Yes, I have. Let's see. He's rumored to live
on Mount Fear, but it's just a rumor. There's
never been any real proof. There must have been
some reports of him. I want you to leave immediately
to investigate. We'll leave right away father
Well there it is Mount fear the most dangerous
mountain in all of Eternia I can't imagine how
anything could survive there. Look at that snow
According to the stories the timber lives in
one of those caves ha ha season one heart of
a giant I knew there was another one Alright,
we find ourselves at Castle Grayskull for the
first time today here episode 120 monster of
the mountain highlights I will start here because
I have a feeling I might have more to say than
you First first I love the rumor themed idea
for an episode alright I know the plot wise as
far as like you know this outcast type thing
is not necessarily the most unique and new thing
But I do like the idea of something based around
rumors and gossip, so I like that There's some
of the best Overhead shots out of 120 episodes
we see in this episode First off right at the
beginning. There's a great overhead shot of the
palace it's I'll say it. It's amazing Alright,
so if you look and watch the first five minutes
of this episode You will see some of the best
overhead shots and best artwork that you see
the entire series I mean, it's just great it
pans over and a whole big portion of the palace.
It looks amazing It looks like something that
was not done in the 80s and then they do more
cool overhead shots when they're flying to Mount
fear So they they do they spent some money on
the animation on this one And gave us some real
quality shots from a visual standpoint. So I
like that We're introduced to the idea that apparently
the royal family and whatever you that consists
of has colonies Now this is different than having
hospitals or Whatever else we talked about Because
this is believable it's believable that someone
in this kind of type of civilization would have
colonies I'm not sure why we didn't take 120
episodes for us to be introduced to the idea
that they might have outlying colonies or outposts
or different things like that. They don't just
call it a village. They don't just call it a
town. It's not just some town A, town B, town
C that we're just going to randomly throw in
here because we need a group of people. They
actually call it a colony of the palace, basically.
I actually appreciate that. I wish they would
have done more with those types of ideas, actually.
Was being pretty darn clever in this episode
if even if he was being deceitful and somewhat
lying That's it's some of the more clever moments.
We've seen from orco So I like that and cringer
also showing that he's not totally dumb We're
not talking about battle cat. We're talking about
cringer, and he's showing that he's got some
smarts, too and Brace yourself folks. I'm gonna
say this about a guest character, but that was
actually a good voice for the tingler Yeah, it
was a good voice. It wasn't something that's
been used over and over and over again. It fit
the character It didn't sound stupid. It didn't
sound like just one of those other cast members
trying to do the 1000 different voice they've
done in this show Well, it was but but I'm saying
it didn't sound like that It almost sounded like
they could have brought someone new to do the
voice of the tingler. So I like that They didn't
I know I know it's I know it's always the same
people I'm not saying they brought someone else
new not an idiot. I know well, that's Up to debate.
The biggest thing there is that this is the Beauty
and the Beast episode to Master Tim done right.
This is that episode done in a way that doesn't
piss me off. And also a very cool thing, and
I don't know if I've ever seen it before in this
series, maybe someone can correct me, but they
actually, for the PSA, it is usually new footage.
The PSA is new footage. They have two of the
characters or three of the characters one of
the characters from the show in some type of
setting Talking to us about a PSA This PSA actually
gave us new footage that we didn't see of the
episode So it actually went back and showed more
of the episode that we didn't Originally see
and I don't know if I've seen that in any of
the PSA's for He -Man It's usually a palace background
or a forest background It's usually a standard
background, but they actually go back and show
us in episode footage From like almost like what
would have kept going on in certain certain situations
that we didn't see prior to that so Very much
like that sir. What do you have? What can you
say good about monster on the mountain? so first
of all It is John Irwin as the giant right, but
it is they Don't want to say they dr. Clawed
him, but they put some sort of vocal effect on
His you can clearly tell it's John Irwin's voice.
It's a slow It's his slow voice, but there is
some vocal effect behind him To make him sound
completely different than what he would normally
sound like sound like and it's not his Adam voice
It's not his he -man voice, but you can still
clearly tell from obviously listening to it's
just not to use like multiple multiple multiple
times So right you have certain people, you know,
erwin abenheimer shymer They do have like three
or four voices that they've used for multiple
characters And this was at least unique. So I
appreciated that you got to have some other good
things to say about monster on them out Come
on Granger gets a cold. That was hilarious Alright,
what else you got? You gotta love that snow animation.
It looks very awesome when when when orko gets
covered in the snow and it's just his eyes I
thought that was great. Yeah, there's a lot of
good things about this episode All right, we're
gonna agree to disagree on this one I guarantee
it by the time this is done I'm not gonna have
much to say at snake mountain, but I do have
a few things. So let's make our way there And
so will Ruckstown. Orko? You better warn Tila.
This is a job for He -Man and Battle Cat. B -B
-B -Battle Cat? Just saying the name makes me
nervous. By the power of Red Star. Alright, we
find ourselves at snake mountain for monster
on the mountain monster on the mountain snake
mountain anyways Sir, what do you have that you
hated so much about this episode? We've talked
about this before The science of he man is completely
screwed up right it really really is now I know
because I've seen them on on tv and live action
and everything else and i've seen it on news
footage that avalanches can create a lot a lot
of snow but the fact that they make mention that
it's 20 000 tons of snow that's science just
It just doesn't even seem possible to me So what
I would like is anyone listening to this podcast
go over the website when we release this Comment
on this episode and let us know if the avalanche
scene in this episode of the cartoon series if
20 ,000 tons of snow is Possible for like I know
in general avalanches. It's a obviously. It's
a very very dangerous thing, but it just Why
20 ,000 tons? Why did they say that like what?
Just maybe to give a hint to the magnitude of
how much snow we're talking about. Mm -hmm. Maybe
Tila Get over yourself she says what a guy about
he man when he goes to leave to change back to
Adam and it's like Okay, he's gonna be around
and Like you don't already know this you've known
this for a hundred and nineteen episode or whatever
Whatever the hell The tingler isn't even that
ugly he's just a giant just like the other episode
we had a giant in which was feared like I mean
the giant Tingler isn't like It was like a medusa
thing where it was a female giant with giant
snakes or you know turns people to stone kind
of thing I could see that but the dude isn't
even that ugly. Yeah Reminded me of you a little
bit We need to shut the hell up right now Adam
Levine You would not be Blake Shelton, so let's
get that out Yeah, whatever. You're the one that
superimposed the image Yeah, no, no Yeah, you're
you're Adam Levine ask is for anyway I don't
know about that took him a while like anyway
And really honestly outside of the whole rumor
angle which like you i i did find it interesting
that they exported outside of that because i
don't know this episode for me just turned boring
after a while once we were all well these people
now have to learn and they still don't learn
after he made an adam and tila and everybody
telling them hey look why don't we find this
out oh hey let's let's go into the windmill because
the giants in the windmill and it turned out
to be some other guy trying to get the window
Didn't really have that much that I didn't like
about this a couple things that you kind of mentioned
though I literally have my second note here quotations.
What a guy Since when Tila have feelings for
he man because that's what I got out of that
like she was all enamored with he man and oh
What a what a dreamy guy type thing well? What
the heck is that coming into the series for we
haven't we've had 119 episodes She hasn't done
anything like that, so I that was just was weird
to me and then the tingler Seriously, that's
the name they went with I'm not trying to get
dirty here, but Why would we call a monster in
a human cartoon the tinkler? It had nothing to
do with him. There wasn't like he Did anything
remotely similar to that name or any like it's
just a weird name. It threw me off. That's weird
And then a little nitpick here. So Tila just
walks off allowing Adam to transform Like that
was the least amount of effort I've ever seen
in the series as far as he man or Adam turning
into he man and getting to his new situation
like usually he has to cause a distraction or
he has to give a reason for going here there
and the other that time they didn't do anything
they just Literally had Tila just for no reason
walk off in the distance, and then he was able
to change into he man Like there was no effort
there. They're like we need him to be he man
everybody else walk off stage We're ten episodes
away from the finale of the series At this point
and I I really don't want to be negative But
I know I'm gonna be negative when I say this
at this point I know they're not going to try
because they're too focused on whatever other
behind -the -scenes stuff They're doing whether
they're getting she were ready or whatever It
just I was just as weird that they just was like,
um, it was it was even silence I'm like and I
was as I'm watching I'm like, it's Tila literally
just gonna walk away so he has an opportunity
to turn into he -man for no reason whatsoever
but uh overall you know i didn't i didn't hate
the episode so we'll have to see exactly where
we come down on this one as we make our way to
awards and rankings for the first time today
i think there's going to be a wide gap there
between his footprint where that's no footprint
it's a dried mud pond well it looked like a footprint
What are all you people doing in the forest we're
after the tingler and this time we'll catch him
Adam and I better do something about this and
fast Well, you see I'm a hermit yes, I live by
myself People have always made fun of me because
I'm so big they call me names But here I am at
peace because the birdies and the trees, they're
my friends. They don't call me names. They don't
care if someone is big or if someone is small.
I can't help it if those silly villagers call
me the tingler. Well, that's the way it should
be. But if you're not a monster, how come you
go around staring at everybody? I don't try to
scare anyone, no. I usually live high in the
mountains, but with all the snow lately, I've
had to come down to the lowlands for food and
water. Oh, that's why you were at the water well.
And when I saw you and your friends, I was trying
to warn you about the big avalanche. Well, I'm
gonna go back to Adam and Teala and tell them
what happened. All right, it's time to see what
the gap is between Mike and I on this episode
I'll start here with the hardware and I'm actually
going to give a power sword to Robie Gorin I
know you're gonna think that's ridiculous, but
I like the idea of the rumors and the way that
they executed this one I thought you know the
plot wasn't that great standalone And there was
a lot of ways for this plot to be a bad episode
But I thought he executed it in a way that made
me entertained And still got the message home
and I like that it was the adults that were the
ones that were kind of creating the rumors And
kind of fueling that and I thought the entertainment
value was that was there I didn't get bored with
this episode that you did it wasn't fantastic
I mean, it doesn't have evil warriors. It doesn't
have a ton of action, but it was pretty quick
paced There's some humor involved and there's
some great visual things to look at so overall.
I thought he executed it pretty well So I gave
a power sword to the writer. What about you?
I I'm gonna give two power swords. I'm gonna
give one to Cringer and one to Orko because they're
just awesome. I'm gonna give a Havoc staff to
Tila because she just needs to go away at this
point. I gotta give a Havoc staff to Robi because
this it just reminded me way the rumors thing
like I already said the rumors think that was
great if they had done some something else other
than another giant if they had done a troll or
if they had done anything other than a giant
it would have been much better for me all right
fair enough you know there's not like a ton to
write home about about this episode it's not
like there's all kinds of great things that I
wrote down But I just for some reason found it
entertaining and I'm not going to go back on
it. When I watched this episode and I decided
what my rating was, I wrote down four. So I'm
going to stick with that. Four battle cats out
of five. It might be the weakest four out of
all the fours I've given out, but it's still
a four. OK, before I give my rating, I just I.
I'm on IMDb right now and I have their little
mini blurb of the of the season one final episode
the heart of a giant it says he men and friends
help a giant hermit from the clutches from the
clutches of an evil circus master okay so that
episode you had a giant you know being controlled
by an evil evil circus master this episode you
have rumors and a giant being feared from the
people so It is a little different but the fact
that it's anyway two out of five orcos All right,
at least you didn't give it a one or zero. So,
you know, yeah This is not as bad as as beauty
in the bank you all right move on a positive
121 the magic falls out of his way to help his
people. None. And it does open some very interesting
possibilities. Skeletor, where are you? I have
news. I was feeding my pets, Evelyn. Is it better
be important? My pets don't like their feeding
time interfered with. Do you know what today
is? On Eternia Day, People in need of help are
brought into the Royal Palace. Once there, they
can ask the King for whatever help they need.
And during the ceremony, the King holds the Scepter
of Power, the symbol of authority over all Eternia,
centuries old. That's it! We'll steal the Scepter
of Power! But how? I have a plan. I can cast
a spell to make one of them look like a snake.
citizen of eternals once inside the palace he
is to steal the scepter of power yes yes it's
risky we'll need someone expendable someone we
can do without in case he's captured not me not
me I'm not feeling very well today me too cowards
I'll do it Skeletor It'll be a pleasure. There's
just one danger, Skeletor. Orko! As a magician,
he might see through a spell of disguise. Ah,
I can take care of Orko! Then the scepter will
be mine! Alright, up next guys, like I said,
is episode 121, The Magic Falls. And once again,
Mike asked for some stable writers. We're getting
another one. J. Michael Straczynski. the writer
for the Magic Falls. So you got Robi Gorn, you
got J. Michael Trzezinski, apparently they were
listening to us and they have delivered. The
air date, Tuesday, November 27th, 1984. Evil
-In plans to magically disguise Cobra Khan so
he can infiltrate Eternos on Eternia Day. And
Skeletor makes sure Orko won't hinder them by
getting rid of his magic powers. He, Man, and
Orko travel to the Magic Falls to try to get
Orko's magic back. Bad guys, we got Beastman,
Evil -In, Cobra Khan, Skeletor, and Trapjaw.
And the masters, we got the regs with the Queen
and the King. And the PSA is all coming to us
from Orko and Man -at -Arms. It's about teamwork
and cooperation. What do you think about the
whole Eternia Day setting and the Skeletor's
idea to infiltrate it using Cobra Khan and the
whole Orko side story about he could be the one
that could see it so we got to get rid of his
magic? What do you think? Once again... when
they actually have Skeletor and the Evil Warriors
in an episode. Skeletor is being smart about
his plans. He's planning ahead. He's, you know...
He's not just rushing in blindly trying to take
over with Shadow Beasts or whatever. I did really
enjoy this one. I thought there were a lot of
comedic moments in it. At the same time... There's
a lot of execution problems in this You see what
those are I'm saying like Obviously, I'm not
even way here, but It I have so many I have a
little few nitpicks And it's more so about the
characters and how they do their actions like
when Evelyn does her magic or when He -Man performs
a task. It's little things. It has nothing to
do with the writing or the overall execution
of the episode. It's more so the little things
that I noticed that are like, wait, what the
is going on here? They should know better by
now. This is the 121st episode. But overall,
the plot is great. I absolutely love the plot.
I love the fact that this is an orco -centric
journey. So yeah, I really, really enjoyed the
plot here. Yeah, I mean, I might have some issues
with the setting that we'll get into, but I like
the whole idea that there's some type of thing
going on, whether it be a festival or some type
of public event going on where Skeletor thinks
he's going to... infiltrated to do something
i like that set up uh... and i like the idea
that they're using these different characters
etc i do have a couple issues with the actual
setting that they went with but that's not too
too hard to get over but uh... yeah i'm down
for the plot like i said it's not a make -or
-break plot for me so it again is going to come
down to the execution and i guess we'll have
to see how they did it to see exactly how much
we have to talk about when we make our way to
castle graceville Alright up next for the Magic
Falls is our castle grayskull moment sir. What
did you like or appreciate out of this episode?
Skeletor took all the credits Skeletor is hilarious
in this episode Skeletor took all the credit
Evelyn comes up with this great. See that's the
coolest thing about this is it's not even Yeah,
sure I said that Skeletor is being really smart
here, but it isn't even Skeletor's plan originally.
It's Evelyn's plan and So hilarious Skeletor
took all the credit Track. We need more episodes
with Attack Track. I think we all need to jump
into a DeLorean, travel back to 1983 when this
show was first in production, and go back and
add Attack Track into every single episode somehow,
because damn, that dude's funny. Man, Orko should
be supercharged all the time. This way his magic
works. Right? Like I said Skeletor is hilarious
I he you know they're giving him that message,
and he's like that's it and then immediately
He's like how do we do it? And then he comes
up with the line. We need someone expendable
like I just love how he has no loyalty to his
warriors And he's just like which one of these
idiots can I get rid of? If only wish if only
whiplash was in this episode because he would
be the most expendable He's like we need someone
expendable. I'm like no not Cobra Khan. We haven't
seen him enough I like that he man's force kept
him out as he's traveling with oracle and trying
to get into the you know the gatekeepers area
like his force kept him out and he had to actually
change to Adam and You know to be allowed in
there. I thought that was a cool idea Like you
said a track attack track at its best Every time
you say that something goes wrong when he's I
Did think there was some cool effects as they
as they travel across the dimensions But I am
glad that orcos magic just brought them back
without having to travel back across the dimensions
Well, yeah, cuz that would have taken a lot of
time and been tedious and not as enjoyable I
was glad they only had to go through that journey
once Overall, this is a great episode for humor
Attack track to Skeletor even the gatekeeper
is somewhat funny I do have one issue with him
But but you know between him attack track Skeletor
and even orca like there's enough funny moments
in here That it's probably one of the best episodes
of the series as far as humor goes It would definitely
be probably in like a top 10 if we were to do
the funniest episodes of he -man Yeah, that's
one of the things that j. Michael straczynski
does with this series almost every episode. We
find out that he writes is Hilarious. Yeah, it
just is um Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, so a lot of
good things about this episode I do have one
or two minor nitpicks, but we'll see if Mike
has anything as we get to snake mountain Alright,
once again we're back at Snake Mountain. TFG1Mike,
what did you not like about the Magic Falls?
Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Adam was still
at the palace calling Orko. His voice carried
that far? Because it shows that Orko is out beyond
the palace walls. He's not just down at the palace
garden or anything. He's out in the woods. You're
telling me that Adam's voice carried that far?
I could see if He -Man's voice did or if Adam
had a megaphone, but there's no way in hell Adam's
voice carried that damn far. I must've missed
that. I didn't catch that going through there.
The magic word better not be please. Yup, it
was please. Now, how did I know that was going
to happen? How does the door not know he turned
back into He -Man? This is after, okay, like
you said - Two different identities. Understand
that but It's like Galvatron and Megatron No,
they're the same don't even go there shut the
hell up Screw you don't even know they're the
same guy right a dissertation on why no you're
not no you're not anyway So Yes, I understand
there are two different identities, but the door,
and I like this, like you said, the door says,
because you tried to force your way in here,
you are not allowed in. So he man immediately
goes around a rock, transforms back into Adam.
That's the other thing I don't like about that.
I wanted to see the transformation back. I wanted
to see the reverse transformation, and we didn't
get to see it. Shut up. This is a great message
though, and I'm glad they threw that in there,
that the solution to the problem is not always
just busting your way in. Well, yeah, that is
a good message. I still don't know how the door
didn't know that he had turned back into He -Man.
Because I assume that the door is an overall
essence of the entire place. Kind of like the
Spirit of Grayskull, so that's where I was kind
of going with that. Let's see... Oh Evil in she
can only change the way he looks really it's
evil in she's a powerful sorceress Why couldn't
she change everything? I'm pretty sure she's
done that before where she's changed the voice
Uh -huh. So yeah minor nitpick there if you're
being consistent throughout the series that usually
that's not an issue for her I got one more, and
that's it, and you can go. I know He -Man can
run fast, but he ain't Superman or the Flash.
There's no way he should have been able to outrun
the bridge collapsing. I will take He -Man over
Superman every single day of the week. Okay,
what didn't you like about this? Get that lame
-ass Superman out of this conversation. I always
have a problem with this every time a series
does it. I understand that they needed a public
event or a festival or you know Avenue for doing
what they were gonna do and I have no problem
with that I can't stand it when they come up
with stuff like Eternia day or when they try
to make a holiday That would be like another
world's version of an earth holiday Eternia day
is just lame to me and I need some some edumacation
on this because I understand that it's Eternia
and that the people from Eternia are Eternians.
Where did the whole phrase Eternos come from?
Because at one point they're like, citizen of
Eternos. Eternos, as far as I know without looking
anything up, is the city where the palace is.
So the world is Eternia and the city is Eternos?
Yes. That's just weird. That's as far as I know
without looking anything up. Okay Well someone
educate me that on that because that just seems
weird I didn't know that they were so closely
to be named the same thing There is some slow
parts of this episode if there wasn't an actual
Gripe about the episode overall it would probably
be about some of the pacing as they're traveling
through the dimensions. It gets a little slow
I didn't have a huge problem with it, but it
still was was evident I could see someone having
that complaint, and I think it was somewhat lame.
I think the gatekeeper is an excellent character
But I think it's somewhat lame that that's an
exact replica of a previous character. Yeah,
it's not just the same. The Comet Keeper. What's
that? The Comet Keeper, yeah. It's not just the
same look. It's the same voice. It's an actual
clone of that character. So I wish they could
have done something tiny. I think this character
probably fit this need better. I actually think
the Comet Keeper should have been a little different.
Think he should have been a little different
look a little different voice where this fit
this person almost perfectly So I just don't
like it when we see someone that identical, but
technically it's two different characters Because
then when someone's on behind the voice actors
comm looking at pictures they're gonna be like
that's the same person no two different characters
All right, so hopefully we're not as far off
as we were with last episode. Let's see what
we well before we get there Yeah, before we get
to awards and rankings. I did go to the he man
wiki a comm Eternos is the capital city of the
planet Eternia and the location of the royal
palace seat of the planetary government led by
King Randor. Eternus during the Great Wars was
occupied by King Hiss and his snake men and for
a while Castle Grayskull served as the seat of
Eternia's traditional regime after the reign
of King Grayskull, Eternus was restored as the
planetary capital. So you could be both a citizen
of Eternus and at the same time a citizen of
Eternia. Okay, that's just weird. But I understand
now, so let's get our awards and rankings. Underway
so we can see if we're lining up better on this
episode. I mean, what would they call them? Eternosians?
That would be cool sounding. Eternesians. Therefore,
you may not come in. Uh oh. He -Man, now what'll
we do? Hmm, maybe He -Man isn't allowed inside,
but he didn't say anything about Adam. Boy, I
was quick thinking! Turning back into Adam! Alright,
you were handing all kinds of awards out last
episode. Two Havoc Staffs, two Power Swords,
I don't know if you have anything left to give
out, but if so, are you handing anything out
for the Magic Falls? Before I do let me ask and
I should have asked this earlier in the plot.
Is this the only time we see that scepter? Which
power the scepter of power that King randor has
it's the only time I've seen attention drawn
to it Okay, if it has existed before it's been
a background thing that I didn't acknowledge
Power Swords and Havoc Staffs. Let's see. I know
your closet is running out of those as we wind
down the last five episodes. We only have so
many to give out, but is there anything? I'll
give a Power Sword to Skeletor for his comedy,
and I'll give one to Trak for his comedy as well.
I wish there was more comedic moments with He
-Man and Orko this time around. I know there
wasn't enough room to it, but... What about you?
I'm gonna give a power sword out as well, but
mine's going to orco I thought he was good in
this episode. He got powered up his power was
working He was the one that was able to get through
whereas he meant at first was not And I said,
I just thought he maneuvered things well and
and you know, he was the key to this He was the
one that was gonna see the chink in the armor
so to speak and he was the one that was gonna
foil Skeletor's plot So he was a pivotal player
in this episode So all about orco this one As
far as an episode rating, I'll go first. I extremely
enjoyed this episode. Like I said, it had that
minor slow moment which made me dock it just
a tiny bit as we're going through the dimensions,
but between Skeletor being funny, between Attack
Track being funny, between being able to see
a character we don't see a lot with Cobra Khan,
the whole idea of the power scepter, Oracle being
kind of the main character, He -Man not being
able to just bust through things. There was a
lot to like about this episode. I think it's
one of the funniest episodes of the series overall
Four and a half out of five. I'm docking a half
a point for some slowness almost a perfect episode
four and a half battle cats out of five There
are Too many series standard things that should
not have happened in here for me it's not as
bad as the previous episode and it's a Gym compared
to Beauty and the Beast But I have to give it
three and a half orcos out of five. I just...
Some of these, like... He -Man's running. Uh,
the whole... The whole magic word thing was...
The fact that it was... Don't get me wrong, I
understand they're trying to teach kids a lesson.
I get that. Say please and thank you and... You
know, this, that, and the other thing, but...
Just the fact that I knew it was going the magic
word was going to be pleased before it was even
said it was like So three and a half four goes
out of five could have been worse. I'm not totally
upset. I think you're wrong. I think you're wrong,
but I Could be much more angry with you and I'm
not so last episode coming up episode 122 we're
searching for a son Looks like you're having
fun, Derek. Yeah, man at arms. It's fun to play
with Mechaneck. But sometimes he doesn't seem
very happy. He isn't. And playing games with
you reminds him of his son. He has a son? Well,
where is he? I've never met him. He lost his
son a while back. A boy about your age. He really
misses him. Really? How did it happen? Mechaneck
was visiting Dragon Mountain with his son, Philip.
For playing the flute is a blessing, son. Learn
to use it well. Maybe someday I'll be able to
play for the pleasure of the King and Queen,
Father. That's a noble wish, son. Perhaps it
may come true someday. I've never seen the wind
blow up so fast. Desperately searched for the
boy it was difficult for him because he had severely
hurt his neck in the storm And he was in great
pain But he couldn't find him My son my son Finally
the pain was too much. He fainted and that was
when I found him All right last up for today
is episode 122 search for a son Written by Drew
Lawrence, whoever that is, airdate Wednesday,
November 28th, 1984, Count Marzo has found Mechenech's
lost son, Philip, and offers to exchange him
in return for the king and queen of Eternia,
i .e. the crown, so that Count Marzo can rule
Eternia. No evil warriors, although I guess Count
Marzo is almost one. And for the masters, we
get the regulars, plus the king and the queen,
plus Mechenech, plus Buzzoff, and the PSA. Tila
talking about safety first over speed don't really
have Much clue what that had to do with the episode
although a couple people ran and tripped over
things So I guess that's how they're tying this
loose PSA in so an F on the PSA But what did
you think about the whole idea of a return for
count Marzo a son for one of our? Masters of
the universe and the whole idea of this ransom
Kidnapping type thing where we're gonna exchange
a kid for the rule of Eternia Count Marzo needs
to get better ideas Count Marzo needs to you
know, it would have been better in this series
if at least this because I is this his final
appearance I believe so. Yes He should have teamed
up with Skeletor or something. I mean, I know
Skeletor does this whole ransom thing for you
know, Eternia before and everything else, but
like God this character is just I can't wait
until we get to the 2002 series because I know
he's so much better in that. What I do like about
the plot is the whole, we get the backstory for
Mechaneck in a weird convoluted kind of way.
Not really convoluted, but Man in Arms essentially
tells Adam the origin for Mechaneck and I do
like that. You know, we're getting an origin
for him. We're not just saying, oh, hey, here's
Mackinac and there you go. We, you know, find
out that, you know, he wasn't always, he didn't
always have a neck that could reach halfway into
the sky. You know, but I really do like that
aspect of it. You know I haven't we have seen
Skeletor do some types of like ransom type things
But I don't think we've seen it quite like this
where someone literally kidnaps a kid of some
of one of the main characters Mainly because
number one there is no kids of any of the main
characters that we've been introduced so far
So if any childlike thing was supposed to be
kidnapped it would have been some just like random
one -off character Which I'm not saying which
I'm not saying Philip is not a random one -off
character But it's the only time where we've
had like literally somebody's direct family connection
to one of the main characters So in that respect
and the respect that it was not just the kidnapping
of a kid But but wanting to be an exchange for
the King Queen gives it a little bit of a unique
twist on the ransom plot So it's it's somewhat
unique for the series to have this type of plot
where you know This guy is kidnapping the kid
and wants to exchange him for the crown so to
speak so I don't blame him for that And there's
some good things within the episode but from
a plot standpoint. I actually like the plot in
this one I can get behind this one. So execution
not as big of a deal. It still needs to be executed
to make it a great episode. But from just a plot
standpoint, I'm on board. So outside of the PSA.
Yep. So all right. Last time today, let's get
our way to Castle Grayskull. Trade your jewels
for gold. That jewelers gold should rightly belong
to a nobleman. And who's the most noble man I
know? Why me, of course. All right, boy. Now's
your chance to repay me for saving your life.
Play, boy. Play the magic tune the way I showed
you. Make the jeweler forget all about his gold.
Beautiful. The boy plays like an angel. No! I
won't do it. I won't use... I flew to help you
steal. What do you think you're doing? You fool.
You foolish boy. I had my hands on the gold and
you stopped playing. You taught me the beautiful
melodies to help you cheat people. Well, that's
wrong. You ungrateful wretch. When I found you,
you were wandering, lost. I saved you, and this
is the thanks I get. I want to be with my father,
not you! Very well, scoundrel. Perhaps you're
right. Why am I wasting my time with a bag of
gold when I deserve the throne? And you'll be
my bait to trap the king and queen. Alright,
highlights one more time as we make our last
trip to Castle Grayskull for episode 41. Mike,
what did you like about Search for a Son? So
as I already mentioned we get the origin and
for Mechaneck I Wish we had more of this in general
for both sides the villains and and the and the
heroes Because it is such a good thing and they
should have like I'm not asking for every single
Every single hero right? You know or every single
villain, but like it would have been nice to
find out if beastman was already red and stupid
or you know evil and where where does she come
from which i know we'll get to once we see the
two thousand two series also but i really love
the fact that we so far out of the masters outside
of obviously human and adam cuz we kind of know
but will get a little bit more that obviously
in the giant film later uh... but uh... you know
uh... so we get Mechaneck we got Moth was it
not moss man crap Who the hell was the Many many
faces You know so we got him we you know Duncan's
or you know the man -at -arms origin ties into
he man's and all that stuff so I just I really
love the fact that they're showing us when they
show new masters and I mean Stratos's origin
is essentially he's the king of Avion. I mean
that is really and he's always been you know
part of the guard. The vehicle the King Queen
Prince and Granger are in. They stole Skywalker's
speeder from episode 4 ladies and gentlemen.
Thoughts? I mean, yeah, I mean, I agree with
the origin, not just of Mech -Neck, but more
of the origin of his actual power type thing,
I guess you want to call it, the bionic neck.
I think, too, it would be cool to see more of
the origins of some of the specifics about each
character, not just them in general, which was
very cool. I thought it was a cool sound when
the Chimera teleported. And we do have the Chimera
going back to his original look. Believe that's
the one that's changed to look three times now
throughout the series I Like continuity with
count Mars out coming back. That's cool funny,
but awkward scene with orco. We better find them.
Where do we start? That was kind of interesting
Obviously cool to get Mechaneck and buzz off
according to the notes here. This is the last
time we see those guys Again, that's going off
of a different order than we watch the episode
So there's a possibility that I'm wrong with
that But according to the one order this would
have been the last time we see both Mechaneck
and buzz off Saved by the neck. I thought that
was kind of funny And definitely a creepy and
interesting speech by marzo at the end Definitely
set it up for potential to really get some more
about that mythos of that character But he talks
about how you know, he can't be killed. He's
almost immortal. He will be ruling the attorney
One day, you know, there's nothing you can do
about it because he'll outlive everybody That
was an interesting written and an awesome speech
by marzo at the end So definitely a cool way
to go out for him if that I believe is his last
mention, which is too bad because they set it
up and that could have been a cool story spun
off from that. So definitely some cool things
about this episode, like the different characters
that we get involved, but that's not to say it's
a perfect episode. So let's make our way to Snake
Mountain and see exactly what might be wrong
with Search for a Son. What in Eternia's name
is that? Father! Father, wherever you are! Help!
I'm beginning to imagine things. I assure you,
Mechaneck, you are not seeing things. It is indeed
your son. Who are you? My name is Marzo. Count
Marzo. Although I don't expect to stay a count
long. Feast your eyes on your flash -and -blurred
mechanic. Where is he? Where is my son, Marzo?
I should think you'd be more grateful. Since
I saved his life on Dragon Mountain, I promise
you he is safe and well and very anxious to see
his father. Take me to him, Count Marzo, please.
Nothing would give me greater pleasure. However,
I must first ask a favor of you Good just deliver
the king and queen to me and then I will deliver
your son to you Because then the throne will
be mine I like the sound of that. All right last
time today. We're at snake Mountain for what's
wrong with search for a son Mike. What's wrong
with it? Count Marzo trying to control yet another
child. I think in a past life Marzo was a sexual
deviant. I can't believe I wrote that. My first
This is this is I'm not trying to throw our friend
who takes this name under the bus. Good old Justin.
I understand, Justin, that this character has
got a cool look. He appears multiple times. He
goes out with this awesome speech about being
immortal and outliving everybody and he will
rule one day, etc. But you also picked probably
the most pedophilic, I know that's not a word,
character in the whole series to put your screen
name after. I don't know if I would do that because
this guy is a creep that preys on kids. Yeah,
yeah, I wonder if he's on the the the attorney
of sex if I just registered hide your son Drives
a van and offers free candy to kids and so Guess
if you want to name yourself after him go more
power to Forever so he's gonna outlive any prison
sentence on eternal so So wait does this mean
he is the mum rah of the Masters of the universe?
Yeah, but mum rah doesn't prey on kids like count
marzo does sure so yeah I agree with you same
same issue about him going for a kid again And
there was also another weird kid moment not to
interject too much, but I think Philip was portrayed
as a little too old to be in mechanics arms at
the end and and say the line and i quote it feels
good to be in your arms that was weird to me
yeah well the whole thing is weird with philip
because my other note and this is really the
only note because let's face it folks this is
probably at least for me the best episode of
the day outside of count marzo's weird creepiness
um If the origin of Mechaneck happened a long
time ago like they say it happened, then how
is his son the same age and looks the same in
both the flashback and the present day? Like,
I get it, the short answer is, oh, stock animation.
But, like, they could have created a animation
model for Philip that showed him being younger
when, like, what would you say his age is in
the present day? Maybe... Somewhere between 12
and 14. He looked like between 12 and 15 or something
Okay, so if in the past he was let's say seven
or eight or so Because they make it sound like
this happened years and years ago because let's
face it This didn't just happen three months
ago mech and I just didn't get his powers just
now, right? So yeah And also why are there pterodactyls
on Eternia? They literally even call them pterodactyls.
They don't come up with a cool name. They don't
say pterodactonians or Eter -dactyls or something.
I don't know what they would have called it.
Eternos. Eter -dactyls. That's awesome. Aerodactyls
or something. They literally call them pterodactyls
and that's just weird. Like, stop it. Pterodactyls
wouldn't be on Eternia. They were on Earth. Unless
that's where the dinosaurs went. I don't know.
Not too much Snake Mountain Worms except for
the overall creepy tone to this entire episode.
It's not just creepy because count marzo is after
the kids it's creepy because philip has this
weird connection with his mech neck Which is
not the father -son relationship that most 14
and year olds have with their dad. I don't know
There's some weird things about this episode,
but I guess it could be fun for a lot of people
It is one of count marzo's best episode, but
I think we're gonna differ slightly on this one,
too So let's get our weight for the last time
today. See what kind of awards and rankings we
have for this one Wait on the next cavern. Let's
go. We have no time to waste. Here comes old
Stone Face. You're good at jumping out of the
way, Blinky, but let's see if you can take me
on. Let's go while he's busy cleaning up his
act. The boy is in the pit! Philip! Father! My
boy. Perhaps we can use that web. Just one chance.
Get ready, son. Put your arm around my neck and
hold on. Looks like we missed all the... Alright,
it's awards and rankings time for episode 122
search for a son. I just have one award to give
out That's a power sword to Mechaneck. I like
seeing the background by him I like seeing him
act be both before and after you know he had
the neck powers and Everything he did for his
and how he handled the whole kidnapping thing.
I think his son's kind of a queer, but Outside
of that Like he acts queer didn't mean like queer
like gay. I just meant like he's queer like weird
He's kind of a... I don't know. I'm not gonna
try to piss anybody else off on this episode,
so who do you have for power swords or heavy
staff? Would you be proud if that was your son?
I'd be trying to hide him in, like, a basement
or something. Like, maybe that's not the first
time an older guy's coming after him. I don't
know. Wow. I just... Hardware? Uh, I can't. I
just can't, because it's gonna turn way too weird.
Well, we're gonna give out. Come on, say what's
on the paper. I was gonna give a Havoc staff
to Count Marzo, but he might enjoy it. Alright,
Havoc staffers are going down in the notes for
Mr. Count Marzo. No, he won't enjoy it unless
it's being handled by Philip. Oh, wow. I don't
even know if we can publish this podcast now,
ladies and gentlemen. Holy shit. Yes, we can.
Okay. Wait, wait, wait. I will also give a hammock
staff to the writer because outside of the origin
for Mekanek himself, this episode was just way
too goddamn creepy. Thank you. Alright, so if
this is Count Marshal's best episode, I'm sorry,
but he's not a great character. He is no Granamir.
You should have named yourself Granamir, Mr.
Justin. That would have been a better screen
name. Ratings for this episode. You were at a
2 for Monster on the Mountain. You were at a
3 .5 for the Magic Falls. What are you for Search
for a Sun? I wanted to give this one high marks,
but now that we have explored it... I don't know
if I can. I'm not trashing it. I still gave it
a fairly decent rating. I gotta give it like...
I'll give it four out of five. That's what I
had written down for you anyways. I'm not quite
as pleased with you as that. I'm gonna drop it
down to a three and a half. I think it's slightly
better than average episode, but it's just too
creepy for me. I would like to mention that,
you know, last episode you said you want the
standard writers, this, that, and the other.
We get two episodes by Robie Gorin and J. Michael
Sierzynski, then we get this one from a one -off
writer, and you've ranked this one higher than
both of the other two. I know. So don't ever
ask for anything again. I think this is the I
actually think this is the worst episode of the
three I don't think this can even compare to
the Magic Falls the humor in the Magic Falls
Is with the attack track and Skeletor just puts
us on a different on that one on a different
level search for a son To me is the is the least?
Great episode I get it you get count Marzo and
you get Mechaneck and you get buzz off So all
that's cool, but I still stay with a three and
a half out of five where I gave the other ones
four and four and a half so Alright, so we're
gonna take a quick break and we'll be back with
some more Final Thoughts as we wind our way down.
We only have 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 episodes
left. I guess as long as there are people, some
of them will exaggerate and others will believe
them and spread rumors. It makes it hard to tell
what is true and what is false. The important
thing is to use our common sense and not to believe
everything we hear. That's right. So, until next
time. Bye! On their way to the Magic Falls, Adam
and Orko discovered not only the secret of the
Gatekeeper, but an important lesson as well.
In the Gatekeeper's Cavern, Adam was too far
away to grab his sword, and Orko, without his
magic, wasn't strong enough to pry it loose.
But when they worked together, they combined
their strengths and got the job done. You don't
have to be the biggest or the strongest when
you help one another. Cooperation. It's almost
as good as magic. Oops. Sometimes better. You
may remember from our story how my foot slipped
while I was climbing up the steep rocks. And
when Philip looked over his shoulder while running
from the jaw -leg, he fell into a pit of lumas.
So when you're climbing, walking, or running,
you should always be extra careful. Look where
you're going so you don't slip and hurt yourself.
Remember. It's not how fast you get there, it's
getting there safely that counts. See you next
time! Alright, well I've made an executive decision.
Usually this is the point where we talk about
our overall thoughts on the series so far. There's
only eight episodes, actual series episodes left.
Three episodes of the podcast minus the overall
episode but in lieu of giving our overall thoughts
because I'm banning that from this episode because
Mike gave his thoughts last episode the series
gave him what he wanted and then Well, I mean
you said give me the standard writers and they
did and you pooped on both episodes Thank you.
No, wait a second. Wait a second here. Wait a
second here since when is uh, you know What would
I give magic fall three and a half? No, it shouldn't
have been a four and a half there was the best
episode rating was for the one -off writer That's
why I'm not allowing you to ask for anything
else Although I should because at least they
gave it to you So give us more characters give
us some more, you know backstory do whatever
you can in these final eight episodes to end
on a good note, please and at least Don't end
on on on crappiness because we've I've been on
a roll here. I outside of Beauty and the Beast
and Ernie a flower I've given three and a half
or higher just about to every episode in the
last ten or fifteen So I like where we're going.
Let's end on a good note But in lieu of that
in lieu of letting Mike talk about stuff that
he's not gonna actually like I believe we have
some feedback Yes, we do actually What is that
feedback? You Mike being ready to tell ya shut
up uh... that feedback uh... from last episode
of the casserole com or superfantim solvers has
uh... chimed in on episode forty of powers of
grace go tells material he says okay i'm going
to disagree with you both on beauty and the beast
this is a good episode as i was watching it i
actually pause for a moment thinking to myself
that the title didn't have a whole lot to do
with the episode actually. Sure you have a storyteller
in the beginning sharing the story and then you
have Tila kissing the monster near the end, but
really take away those things and change the
title and I think you get a solid episode that
could easily just have been about accepting yourself
and not judging based on appearances alone. Which
is the Beauty and the Beast moral. Mm -hmm. There
is a lot of action in this episode, and I found
it very enjoyable. I'm giving this one 4 .5 orcos.
Yes, that's right. I'll comment on the other
episodes later. I've already replied. Would you
like to read that? Yeah. Kevin replied on the
website to this post. He says, for once you have
shown you have fits of insanity from time to
time. Yes, because he just explained the entire
thing and said you would have an episode if you
took that other stuff away that would still be
a Beauty and the Beast episode. You can't get
away from the moral. That is the Beauty and the
Beast story, that somebody is hideous or awful
-looking or scary and people don't accept it
and you have to not judge a book by its cover.
It's a tale as old as time. Ba dum bum, make
the same pun you did. But you can't take those
things away and all of a sudden get away from
the fact that it's still telling the same story.
It's still telling a Beauty and the Beast story.
You can like it or dislike it. You can like the
execution or dislike the execution But let's
not pretend that you just change the title and
it's all of a sudden not a Beauty and the Beast
episode That is the Beauty and the Beast story
And they just threw in her kissing it to add
the romantic side of the story. That doesn't
that's not important whether that's there or
not Yeah, in which there was no romance at all.
I mean you can call it It's the Beast story of
the Beauty and the Beast. You don't have to have
the beauty part You don't have to have the romantic
part, but it is the Beast story, right? Exactly.
We do appreciate his feedback as always and you
guys should all chime in and also go to the website
and start commenting It's not too late to start
and get in the game and get on the conversations
Even though there's only a few episodes left
of the original He -Man series. We got She -Ra
coming up We got a lot of other stuff so you
can jump in You know at point and start commenting
on all the episodes for the rest of the hundred
and twenty Whatever episodes we'll do of this
podcast. So it's not too late to join in on the
conversations And I think At some point maybe
on the back end of schedules can mix up. I think
we're gonna have to have Tim on episode 45 with
us. We'll see. Not if he keeps talking nonsense
like he did on that post. We also, on Twitter
we are, I created a while ago the Twitter handle
at pow of greyskull because it wouldn't let me
do powers for some stupid reason and we had gone
back and forth back and forth on that and I had
just, as we were recording this episode, I said,
in episode 41, Adoptima Solo finds a monster
on the mountain, then the magic falls, and finally
we're on a search for a son. And our buddy Count
Marzo... Says search for a son is count Marzo's
best performance No, it's not dude. We've already
talked about it in this episode. Well, it might
be his best performance It's just still not something
I would brag about but that's another way If
you guys want to get involved, I mean it won't
be obviously we air these Different times when
we record them because there's editing and this
that the other but if you start following our
different Twitter names as we have for this series
like power of grace call You can interact with
us as we record because Mike does a pretty good
job of live tweeting while we record Every once
while you can hear him probably typing in the
distance. That's what he's doing. He's alive
tweeting to you. So Because when I tweeted that
out I did that in between one of our episodes.
No, but I'm just saying, if you hear anything,
that's why, so that's not a big deal. So he's
interacting with you and you can get involved
with the record and then we'll talk about it
probably as we're recording and it'll make instant
feedback. So you can follow us on the website
or with Twitter and get involved both ways. It's
probably the two easiest ways to interact with
the show, but how else can people interact? All
right. Thank you for listening to Tales of Eternia.
You'd like to get in contact with us to leave
feedback for the show. There are some ways to
do this. Obviously, as Kevin just said, the website,
send email to feedback at geekcastradio .com
in the subject line, put Pugs, episode 41, or
whatever the episode number is. Leave the show's
feedback in iTunes. Please do this. I know there
are a lot of silent listeners out there. I'm
pretty sure there are. We have, wait, before
you get to that, I don't mean to interrupt you,
but. We do have some silent listeners out there,
and I want to thank those listeners. Recently,
the GeekCast Radio Network did their second annual
award show. Oh, yeah, that's right. We didn't
even bring that up. We should have led with that.
And on that award show, one of the there was
Your your common stuff like best TV shows of
the year best movies of the year comic books

We won and we won so we beat everything else.
We beat pixels we beat What, Legends of the Dark
Knight? Legends of the Dark Knight, um... Mass
Mayhem, I think, maybe, too? We beat all the
other ones, so apparently there are some people
out there voting for us and listening, so we
thank you for that support. Now, just give us
a name to tie to that listenership or to those
votes, and give us feedback on iTunes so we can
give you some actual credit. But thanks for those
who voted for us. Yes, thank you very much. It
is the only review show I was involved with,
so... Well... Just kidding. Come on now. How
do people follow you on Twitter? Let's see, wait
a second. Also, I want to say about the awards.
When we have the third annual GCRUN Awards next
year, it's going to be a battle between us and
Showtime Synergy, I guarantee you. I ain't afraid.
I'm bringing it. I'm bringing it. It's going
to be Jim and He -Man versus each other. No,
it'll be She -Ra versus Jim. Oh, no. Yeah. Yeah,
She -Ra versus Jim. We're going to have an all
-out female duel. We can do women better. Dude,
that sounds so... Just trying to keep the theme
of the episode going. How can people follow us
on Twitter, man? Besides Pao Grayskull, I'm at
Optimus Solo. Yeah, you're at Optimus Solo. I'm
at TF2 and Mike. You can also follow at GeekCastRadio.
