About this Episode

OptimusSolo and TFG1Mike discuss three back-to-back She-Ra episodes. Episode 81 explores sibling rivalry at a circus with a rare Adam and Adora focus. Episode 82 brings back Seahawk and the magic locket while introducing new character Dina. Episode 83 sees She-Ra imprisoned after making a promise to Hordak, testing her values against her enemy's treachery.

and defender of the Crystal Castle. This is spirit,

my beloved steed. Fabulous secrets were revealed

to me the day I held aloft my sword and said,

for the honor of Grayskull! Hello, this is optimus

solo and welcome to the 74th Chapter in our powers

of grayskull series with me for this journey

into the masters of the universe franchise as

he has been For the entire 74 chapters is TFG

one. Mike. Hello. Hello You haven't missed you

haven't disappeared. You haven't taken a sabbatical

or a hiatus. You're sticking We've had issues

over the last four years with getting recordings

done and things like that But you have an abandoned

ship you haven't hit the eject button I'm not

one to abandon ship unlike some people who you

know you haven't checked for a parachute. Yeah

Unlike some people who just couldn't handle the

mask Here's the deal when we get on these voyages.

I only pack one parachute If I need to hit the

eject, that's all that's the only person that

can eject just wait until episode 83, dude Alright,

so here's here's the thing really quickly. I

have been editing like hell Edit monkey. Yeah,

huh? I edited About three I edited episode 60

67 and 68 in one day. And in both of those episodes,

or at least in one of them, the intro is going

to be a little bit different because we had foul

up starts. So I took the foul up and put it at

the very beginning and then I put the theme song

and then the actual start to the episode. So

yeah, that's been fun. For all I know, guys,

for the listeners out there, for all I know,

Mike could edit in He could put words into my

mouth. He could he could he could he could he

could do whatever he wants because I Don't typically

it's some podcasts. I listen back to I haven't

listened to many of these back, so I have no

idea what you do. You could have done anything

and probably gotten away with it. I'll tell you

right now, just because we're friends and all

that, but there's only been several times at

the end of a clip where I've said something and

then you said something after me and there have

been times that I've cut that out because I want

to have the last word. But other than that, I

have never... That doesn't surprise me. I have

never, nor will I ever alter any part of your

opinion. I'm not Hillary Clinton after all. Anyway,

shots fired, shots fired. But we're here, we're

74 chapters in, and hopefully it gets... The

Cubs won the World Series. Yeah, that's self

-evident at this point. Wanted to divert to the

other big news of the year. Yeah, that's true.

The Cubs winning the World Series and Donald

Trump becoming our new president. It's like,

that's the only, yeah, right, exactly. That's

the only news that's going on right now. There's

no other news. Seriously though, seriously, hold

on, time out. Take a break here. Could you ever,

picture yourself at any age you want to picture

yourself. Five, 10, 15, 25, whatever you want

to do. If anybody told you that, hey, the Cubs

are going to win the World Series and Donald

Trump's going to be the president. I would say

that Back to the Future 2 was right. They just

didn't buy that much. Well, if they had won last

year, but yeah. I would also say, oh my god,

it's the guy from Home Alone 2 that gave Kevin

McCallister directions to the lobby of the Plaza

Hotel. It would literally seem like it was a

movie script like a Back to the Future or some

time travel like a funny movie. Absolutely. Like

it's so bizarre that we're living this right

now. As yourself being a Red Sox fan, obviously

you can appreciate what it's like when your team

finally wins something. Well, you guys were cursed

by what? What was the Cubs curse? What were we

not cursed by? No, no, no, no. There was something

I heard on the radio a couple months ago where

somebody was like... Where's the goat? Yeah,

that's what it was, the goat. So you guys were

cursed by the goat. we sold a group to the yankees

now put those two on the scale which is which

is going to win out here and we had eighty six

years yeah you guys may have had a hundred eight

but you know by a lot of things there was a lot

of different things that happened anyways it's

over now so yes uh... going back two hundred

years or Yeah, going back to the subject at hand

here. In this episode of Miss of Etheria, we'll

be giving you our thoughts on episode 81, Just

the Way You Are. I was going to sing it, but

I didn't feel like it. I was going to say, isn't

that a Billy Joel song? It's also a Bruno Mars

song. Oh yeah, that's true. Episode 82, The Locket,

and episode 83, She -Ra Makes a Promise. So we

hope you're ready, because it's time to go back

to Etheria. Nice to see you again. Thank you,

Angella. I wouldn't miss the opening of Etheria's

circus for anything. Adam's a big fan of the

circus. And I'm a big fan of Adam's. We're all

fans of Adam's. Announcing the arrival of King

Darkspur of the Hinterlands to see Queen... wants

to marry Glimmer. She doesn't want any part of

it. King Dotspur, may I present Prince... I've

no time for that. I've come once again to ask

for your daughter's hand in marriage. I'm sorry,

but I'm afraid my daughter's made up her mind.

Her answer is no. And you can't make her change

it? I haven't tried to. Well, you've not heard

the last from me. Well, he didn't take Glimmer's

refusal very well, did he? He needs to work on

his manners. Is he gone? Yes. Good. Hey, why

don't we all go watch them set up the circus?

They're setting up just outside the castle. Good

idea. My friend, Drew, is learning to be a juggler.

I can't wait to see him. Great. Let's go. All

right, starting off today, we have episode 81,

Just the Way You Are, Saturday, October 3rd,

1987, or thereabouts, written by Carol Baxter.

An unkind king wants to marry Glimmer. A circus

juggling boy is afraid his father is more interested

in his tightrope walking brother. The plot for

this one is it's like one of those, when you're

going on TV to watch one of those shows that

has like seven different. plot lines that you

could be following. And it has just one sentence

for each one. It's like, Michael runs into problems

at home. Jason deals with his boss's rude, you

know, whatever. It's like one of those where

it's like five different things and it's just

all these little brief snippets. But there's

no horde members in this one whatsoever. So we

just get She -Ra slash Princess Adora, the crossover

with He -Man Adam. We have Glimmer, Queen Angela.

Sprocker, and then some new characters, kind

of side characters, King Darkspur, along with

Marsh, Drew, and Caleb, losing charge of the

naming in this family. All about the Hinderland,

where King Darkspur resides. So what did you

think about this? This is kind of going back

to, it fits with the type of stories we get in

He -Man, She -Er, because it's more of that fantasy,

more of that almost like a King Arthur type time

period. So we have somebody that's trying to...

It's almost like set up an arranged marriage

or someone who's trying to force marriage on

to a princess who is not having it, not to mention

that this is kind of creepy because of the age

difference between the two. But what did you

think about this just the way you are? Oh my

god. Well, obviously the episode title is a little

too on the nose because they want people to act

the way that they are. They want people to be

who they are and not change for someone. And,

you know, the king is like, I don't give a crap,

she's gonna marry me and blah, blah, blah. You

know, for a minute there, you put Glimmer in

a skimpy blue dress and you put a sultan's hat

on the king. It's Jasmine and her father, really.

I mean, seriously. That's what the two reminded

me of when I looked at these characters. I know

that all kinds are wrong, but... Yeah, the thing

is, it's kind of weird because you kind of picture,

okay, there's Princess Glimmer, and she's probably

got, if you think about this, then it's more

than just the small rebellion in the woods, which

I guess we're supposed to ignore, that there's

this big planet, and there's all these different

people that are trying to win her hand in marriage,

et cetera, et cetera. When we got that, because

I set the story up, like... Hey, oh like this

guy's coming in the room, and I got to disappear

and like oh Why is glimmer afraid of this guy?

Because he wants to marry her and so you're pictured

certain things in your head, and then this dude

walks in that is not who you picture Like that

is that is the weird part But I guess it's interesting

because we've never kind of ventured into the

marriage land when it comes to Shira or when

it comes to this royal family and like the lineage

and you know Then kind of a hierarchy of who

would be next on the throne and that type of

stuff So I guess I like it from that standpoint.

Yeah, it was kind of weird Where they truly chose

I mean he looks like a Cool bad guy and all that

like a little bad guy and something, you know

a little bit off the beaten path But I don't

that's a creepy old man trying to marry a young

princess. Yeah, I mean if you go back to What

was it episode? 60 4, 63, maybe 61, I forget

which podcast it was, where we talked about Micah

of Brightmoon, which after how many episodes

we found out that she actually has a father.

Like the whole point, the whole time in Shiro

with Glimmer and her mother, Angela. Thought

the father died at some point or whatever else

we come to find out he's been in hordex jail

all this time So that's pretty much the only

kind of lineage kind of thing that we really

got with glimmer and Angela and all that and

Honestly, I've never really expected any kind

of continuity when it came when it came to them

at all As long as they stayed mother and daughter.

That's really the only thing I ever expected

out of the show because as we've said a million

times before in this part of the Powers of Grayskull

series, let's face it folks, these cartoons,

while a lot of them are very well written and

thought out by various people, a lot of them

are not, and a lot of them don't stick with whatever

continuity that's already been set by whatever

Bible they might have had at the time for the

series. Right. Well, why don't we get into the

things we like the most about this episode as

we make our way over to Whispering Woods. I don't

have a lot, I just have a couple here. Number

one, the Hinterland guards. I like the way that

their faces changed. I know it doesn't make any

sense from like a... Physical standpoint, but

I like the way that my kind of the expression

on the face kept changing And I guess I kind

of like the other plot that we're dealing with

here with the parents With the parent having

multiple children, which we've seen a lot of

kids and he managed here We've seen a lot of

annoying nephews and cousins and just random

village kids and idiots and stuff like that but

they haven't really ventured too much into the

whole idea of Like, there's been, like, oh, my

parent's not paying attention, or oh, like, I

don't get everything I want, but there hasn't

really been too many storylines about my sibling

is getting more attention than I have, so I think

that's somewhat appropriate for a kid's cartoon

show. That's interesting, especially someone

like me who... Am and I was an only child so

I pretty much got whatever the hell I wanted

whatever the hell I wanted anyway So it didn't

really matter now for you. You have what a sister

and brother Yeah, okay, so for you. What was

it like for you was this did you ever like? When

you watch this back. Did you think oh? Yeah,

I kind of had those feelings as a kid or was

it not like that at all Basically for me, I guess

I probably and this is in gradual spec because

I was the youngest So maybe I didn't have the

best perspective on things, but I got the impression

that it was that I was the other kid I I have

a feeling that my sister and brother felt like

I was the one that was getting too much attention

I was the youngest I was the baby And my older

brother is a half brother. So I was my my father's

only son Okay, um And I think he maybe always

had wanted us to have a son So, I don't know

if that made my sister feel different or like

she wasn't you know The special one I guess but

I don't know I I think I kind of was on the other

end of it So I couldn't relate to it as far as

the way this story was depicted But I still think

it's something that a lot of kids do go through

because i've seen it from other I've seen it

like in my friends households or different things

like that where you know, the one child is Doing

good in school or the one child is doing good

in athletics or whatever and then the other one

just kind of gets Ignored to a certain point.

So I've definitely seen it in other families

So I think it's something good to be addressed

for kids that maybe isn't as dressed addressed

as much as you would think and some of these

cartoon shows, you know, there's some Kind of

when we talk about the PSA is there's some issues

that get nailed on the head over and over and

over and over and over again in cartoons something

like like the Golden Rule, or there's certain

ethics or morals that just really get hammered

in a lot of different episodes. Something like

this seems like it doesn't as much. Maybe a spanner

in here and there, but that's about it. After

all, not every PSA can be about... The fact that

vegetables are important to you. Right? Sorry,

I just edited that episode and I saw that I heard

the line, vegetables are important to you, I

want to rip my eyeballs out. For me, with this,

first of all, we didn't even get to mention yet

that this is a crossover. Right. So I do love

seeing Adam and Adora working together as Adam

and Adora to save the little brat, but see my

Fredzone moments for more. Adam and the Elephants

is awesome. Adora and Glimmer's exchange was

great right before the transformations, or not

Adora, Adam. adam and glimmers that would be

a little weird adam and glimmers uh exchange

right before his transformation was awesome because

he saves her he says go back to wherever the

hell and she says okay adam be safe and then

he goes into it's time for he -man and the transfer

i just thought that was really cool that that

whole the way that that was paced between him

saving her and coming in and then obviously the

the transformation the other thing with this

is because this is mainly an adam and adora story

which is to me i think that's rare because normally

when when when adam comes it's so he can become

he -man and he -man and shira can save the day

that's after all formation masters universe prince

of power it's all about human sheer it's very

rarely about adam and adora which i again i think

this is like the second time that we've had something

like this where it's two of them more so than

their alter egos which i like i think that's

great i think that's awesome they're doing that

you have anything else for No, no, that was it

for Whispering Woods. I do have more Fright Zone

moments, and, you know, it's not that I didn't

necessarily hate this episode or anything, but

I ended up writing a lot more stuff down for

Fright Zone. I have three, and one is obvious.

At first, of course, it didn't really... I didn't

really feel sympathetic towards the kid until

the end, but at first, that kid, ugh, God. Ugh.

Wait. Wait, wait, wait. Gymnastics when they

were little. uh... hordak stole her when they

were babies come on now how the hell do they

have again this goes back to the writer that's

on your left hand not knowing what the writer

on your right hand is doing that was a good catch

i didn't i didn't pick up on that but yeah and

then the sword spin through the ground oh god

i know you're gonna have shit to say about that

Yeah, and a few other things Go ahead number

one the first thing I wrote down even though

I guess it didn't play too huge of a part of

the story But another circus story Like that's

that's at least the third one between he man

and she or that we've seen I'm done with circus

stories. I don't need to hear about any more

of them Okay, so they get put in that jail cell

the kid and the father And why is there like

eight bowls in that jail cell? They are literally

bowls in that jail cell just so they have something

to juggle. There's no reason why there would

be more than one bowl or plate or pan or whatever

in a jail cell, in a dungeon. So that was kind

of forced. So we get this far away shot of Adam

right after the tent falls standing right next

to glimmer and then immediately changing into

he -man Like He acts like glimmers gonna run

away then it spreads to a far shot it shows glivers

still standing right there And then he lifts

the sword and turns into he -man I get that they

were trying to say that there was the tent had

fallen over everybody so nobody could see but

why was glimmer in that shot then and Thought

beast man was the one that had the ability to

communicate to animals But apparently he has

competition with Prince Adam because Prince Adam

is definitely communicating with that elephant

so I don't know there was just some weird things

about this episode and I didn't even I left completely

out the spinny Rooney I'd left out the the creepy

old man trying to hit on glimmer because that

kind of ended up not I don't know I couldn't

this episode could not decide what it wanted

to be about did it want to be about the fact

that glimmer was so offended by this guy and

this guy's trying to force himself upon her which

is kind of raping away or did it want to be about

this parent that has two children in the circus

and he's only paying attention to the one that's

doing the dangerous act. You know, which lane

did it want to go on? Because I felt like I just

kind of tried to do both and it made me not as

interested in either. So, I don't know. Yeah,

that's, it's a, of course, we call it this now.

This wasn't a thing back then, but this episode

suffers from a Spider -Man 3 kind of syndrome

where it's like you put too much in, you don't

get anything out of either end. Right, and then

I felt like they even missed a chance, because

I thought the coolest thing about this episode

was the actual kingdom that this King Dark Spray

was at, and these Hinderland guards or whatever,

which had the cool, you know, almost night's...

Night and shining armor type look I thought there

could have been some cool action sequences or

battles or something like that even if it would

have somehow brought the horde in you could add

like the The horde troopers against these guys

maybe I don't know I just felt like that was

a completely missed opportunity to have some

type of battle with this like kingdom, but Yeah,

overall. I don't know. I can't decide too much

in the positive on this one. The PSA was about

Parental love so that's the one that chose to

go with with that as far as Recognizing that

your parents love you no matter what it seems

which isn't always true So yeah, but at least

it matched the episode right at least they weren't

showing Lukey You know you know trying to use

the stove without permission from his parents

That's funny All right, let's get into hardware

sir. Yes, that's protection swords of what do

you have? Protection swords for... Technically

it's two, but it really is four since they are

four different characters. Adam, Adora, He -Man,

and Cheer all get swords. Alright. That's a lot

of swords. That's a lot of swords. What about

you? Uh -oh. I got a Horde Bat. I'm gonna give

a Horde Bat to someone you give a sword to. I'm

gonna give a Horde Bat for Adam for changing

into He -Man right in front of Glimmer. Well,

supposedly she ran off. Oh, then I give a horde

back to whoever animated that sequence or drew

it, director, or whoever was in charge of that.

That was horrible, because he told her to go

somewhere and then the way the animation was,

was it showed her there, standing right there

as he draws the sword, but then it cut to the

close -up of him by the power of Grayskala. How

about Crystal Castle, sir? How many out of five?

I did very much enjoy this episode but as you've

already said and as we've already talked about

the two very different plots kind of bring it

down so it's better than average but it's not

like so good I would rate it so high so I'll

give it a three and a half Three and a half all

right. I'm just slightly below you on that one

I'm going to go to two and a half out of five

I feel like I should even give it lower, but

it wasn't terrible like there were some good

parts about it Especially like you're talking

about with the Adam and Adora angle I just feel

like there was other parts that really bring

it down so I can't give it a positive rating

I have to give it a right smack dab in the middle

so yeah, all right We're gonna take a break and

when we come back, see what we think about episode

82 and the power of the locket. Well, it all

began on Beast Island. Our friends Bow and Glimmer

were being held captive there. She -Ra and I

set out to rescue them. Look out, She -Ra! Thanks,

Sorrowful. I need to get a head start. Right,

She -Ra. I'll take care of it. Look, Glimmer.

Sarval's chasing the horn robots away. Yeah,

you're not very nice to my friends, so I'm gonna

teach you a lesson. Up next is episode 82, The

Locket. Airdate Saturday, October 10th, 1987.

Writer Michael Itmich. Imp steals Adora's half

of the magic locket she got back when she was

last seen with Seahawk. Sorrowful's friend, Dina,

follows the rebels and gets captured by the Horde.

Adora loses her sword and gets captured as well.

Seahawk is alarmed by the other half of the locket

but walks into a trap. Now it is up to Sorrowful,

Bo, Madame Raz, and Cowl. to rescue them all

so we have okay before you forget the characters

where did you get the synopsis from i don't remember

i have like six different places i look for these

okay because in this synopsis it says seahawk

is alarmed by the other half of the locket shouldn't

that say warned not alarmed if he was alarmed

you know alarm bells would go off like you know

at a firehouse or something I think that's a

little bit of semantics there. Yeah, yeah. Next

thing you know, the Ghostbusters are going to

be showing up on Aetheria. That'd be interesting.

So we have Hordak, Catra, Shadow Weaver, Imp,

Mantena, Leech, and Raller, a whole slew of Horde

members. And we have She -Ra, Glimmer, Madame

Raz, Bo, See -Ha, Kao, Broom, as well as the

returning characters, Swen, Sorrowful, and the

new character, Dina. So I know I just complained

about the last episode going a thousand different.

Routes this one could be accused of doing the

same thing because we have not only the sorrowful

aspect We have the Seahawk line. We have this

Dina character. We have the horde involved So,

I mean there is a lot of moving pieces here Well,

what did you think of this? the whole thing as

far as tying in some of these other characters

and the whole idea of the locket coming into

play between Adora and Seahawk Well Dina and

sorrowful are tied together since they're friends,

right? so that i don't mind because they're one

part of the story adora and seahawk and the locket

and all that are another part of the story that

ties into the horde because imp is told by hordak

and shadoway or hey go get this locket because

it has magic we can use it to defeat the rebels

that kind of all to me is fit into one little

thing so the way i see it is we have another

thing here where it's two halves of a story.

You've got that part, then you have the sorrowful

and Dina part where Dina goes off on her own

for some stupid reason when she's told not to

and then they have to save her. So, that's the

side for me. Like, take this whole episode, split

it down the middle, Dina's on one side, everything

else is on the other side. Yeah, I mean, like

I said, it does seem like there's a lot of stuff

going on, but you're kind of describing enough

of it fits together that it doesn't necessarily

feel jarring or anything. It all kind of gels

to a certain extent. And I do appreciate the

idea that they are going to be using some of

these characters that we've seen before. So it's

not like these guys just don't exist on Aetheria.

They do exist. And at times, I guess they would

interact with the Rebellion or with the Horde,

et cetera. So I appreciate that. It's interesting

to be juggling this many things, though, so it

kind of comes down to are they gonna be able

to execute it in a way where it doesn't seem

like we've forgotten about half of the people

we've introduced, or like you said, do they actually

gel together? So I don't have any problem with

introducing multiple recurring characters, but

there has to be a reason for it, so I guess that's

kind of where I fall in the plot. What about

Whispering Woods for you on this one? What did

you like best about The Locket? The Further Adventures

of Adora and Seahawk's quote -unquote love story.

I find that a little interesting that they kind

of touch on it, but not really. It's nice seeing

Sorrowful again. I loved Madame Raz whispering

to Adora, like, who's gonna handle this? Adora

or she? And I'm like... Yeah, I forgot to write

that down, but I like that as well. Because as

we all know, if anyone's watched the opening

of the show... for the last 30 -something years,

there are several people that know the secret.

Light Hope, Madame Raz, and Cal. What I also

love, and I would love an entire episode, I actually

just, as of this recording, I just edited an

episode where we had Madame Raz and Broom. being

all married couple type of thing where they're

yelling at each other and her in this calling

broom and him with his oh my aching br - i'm

like oh my - i just want to show what the two

of them the whole episode is nothing but them

arguing that's all i want because madame razz

and broom could go out on their own comedy hour

tour seriously it would rock uh... now rat lore

I only know Ratlore from the fact that he's part

of the Snakemen, part of King Hiss and all that.

Now, have we seen him before? Because that was

a surprise to me that he was in this. Yeah, we've

seen him before. Okay, it's been a while, so...

He we I don't know if we've seen him get this

much time or this many lines of dialogue so that

was something I wrote down and I did like that

he actually got some time for once. The reason

that I remember Rattler as much is because he

was the only snake man toy that I owned. Okay.

So I had him as the toy which he actually did

have the rattling tail and stuff like that so

I've always but I can never remember him from

the show and then you know obviously he never

really shows up in He -Man so but yeah he's shown

up a couple times and I like that they actually

gave him some time. What else did you like? That's

it. Okay, besides that, like I mentioned, I do

like the recurring characters, although Sorrowful

is a four -man's version of Granamir. So I would

much rather have a Granamir storyline. I did

like the Sorrowful versus Hordak aspect of the

episode, when Sorrowful actually gets in Hordak's

face and scares him a little bit. I did like

that. And I actually liked that they worked in

Adora and She -Ra. being different with the return

of the locket, and what I mean by that is that

they actually wrote into the story that, hey,

Adora's not here, but this is her locket, and

she was there, so it was like they wrote in lines

of dialogue to basically make it be like, oh,

well, just bring it back to this certain point

at this time, and Adora, I'll tell Adora to meet

you there, so I thought it was good that they

didn't just ignore that and just like, oh, the

locket somehow gets back to Adora, so. i don't

like that what about anything that stuck out

that was for example nothing really for me i

mean i didn't really write anything down i really

really enjoyed this i thought it was fun i thought

it was great uh... for the most part uh... you

know as we said there's certain plot elements

that are cannot me but uh... overall they did

a good job making it on java so i mean absolutely

That I have two things that you might have forgot

to write down then and one of them is Bo's umbrella

arrow I didn't really care for that So always

I kept thinking of when is Burgess Meredith gonna

show up as the penguin? That's all I kept thinking

because that's that's so a penguin thing Yeah,

and I know it can be a broken record to a certain

extent, but the voice of Dina Was awful. I don't

know what they were going for. It was like they

were trying to do part hippie surfer or something

Part valley girl. I it was bad. It was real bad

Yeah, so looking at Michael, it's sure whatever

his name is his credits on IMDB here from 86

to 88 It's funny that I mentioned Ghostbusters

in this up in this part of the he wrote one episode

of Ghostbusters from 86 Eddie takes charge For

She -Ra, he wrote The Prisoners of Beast Island,

he wrote The Laughing Dragon, which is the episode

that introduced Sorrowful to us, Light of the

Crystal, and then this episode. And then he also

wrote two episodes for Brave Star. Yeah, I mean,

he's not terrible. No. But yeah, the PSA was

basically about how your actions can affect others.

So, like Dina going off on her own and best thing

the other. The whole thing with Dina, I like

that she was Sorrowful's friend. I like that

she likes to hear stories from various people.

But her whole thing of going and saying, hey,

I want to do... Want to you know help people

I want to help with this and she really can't

help she gets captured You know, that's that's

really the only negative All right. Well you

gave out four protection swords with the last

episode Do you have more to give out on this

one? everybody except Dina everybody except Dina

dina gets or that all right uh... i'm with you

as far as the board that i also give one to dina

uh... because i thought she was just a bad overall

character that voices center the only protection

sort i'm giving out is just a sorrowful i'd like

to be scared of crap about that so well i have

to give one to again madame razz and broom as

i've already gone on about it that's those two

characters are two of the most Enjoyable parts

of this series for me when they're arguing when

they're goofing off when they're just You know

whatever so So you gave last episode a three

and a half. Are you going up or down for this

one? For this one four and a half I took a half

point off for Dina because you know her whole

plot is just weird But the rest if you take that

part of it out even though they need that part

for sorrowful to want to go rescue her If you

rework that part a little bit to have her not

be so, I don't know, whatever, it would be a

five, but it's four and a half. That's a high

rating for you for the locket. I'm gonna do exactly

what I did last episode and go one below you

I'm gonna go to three and a half So I think this

is the better of the two episodes by a decent

margin, and I think it's a good episode I just

didn't have anything that really wowed me I was

hoping for a little bit more out of either sorrowful

or or I know I gave him a protection sword But

especially more out of Seahawk would have liked

a better You know more memorable role from him

or something more. I like that. We got more rattler

uh... but i thought it could have even been more

uh... so it just a couple things missed a little

bit for me so i'm positive but not overly positive

all right you went three and a half now four

and a half let's see if we get to a rare five

for you as we take a break and come back with

our final episode about shira and these promises

that she makes god i still want to put the dakota

moon song in here you remember that don't you

How about making one of your very special dishes,

Madame Raz? Oh, of course, dearie. We can start

with a delicious bowl of cream of bug broth.

Cream of bug broth? You have to remember that

Madame Raz is a witch, Spratina. Her taste in

food are a little, uh, unusual. How about something

we all love, Madame? Like those tasty golden

spuffles. Near the fright zone And last up today

is episode 83, She -Ra Makes a Promise. Saturday,

October 17th, 1986. It's one of those that says

it's a year earlier. Dennis Higgins is the writer.

She -Ra changes place with one of her Twigget

friends who has been captured by Hordak. That's

all the plot I could find anywhere. I didn't

feel like writing my own. You know the funny

thing about this is, this means we have ten cartoons

left after this point, because there's only 93

episodes in season two. So we had a Hordak. Octavia,

Imp, Mantena, and some Horde troopers. We had

She -Ra, another appearance of He -Man, Madame

Raz, Bo, Spratina, Sprocker, Cowl, Broom, Swiftwind,

so a whole slew of Rebellion members. What did

you think about She -Ra making a promise and

being imprisoned? Is it just me, or have these

been three crossovers today? Well, the one wasn't

because it just had Swen and Sven in Sorrowful.

It didn't have He -Man. Oh, okay. It didn't have

He -Man. But the other two definitely. Two of

the three crossovers. Yeah. Awesome. That's just

awesome. I told you there was a bunch coming.

Yeah, I know. I like this. I think it's interesting.

What I like about the plot of this is that it

shows you, it reminds us what kind of characters...

Shira and Hordak are I think the last episode

that kind of did that to us is when they had

to team up to help each other get out of some

dark dimension or something or other but in this

episode you see That Hordak is always gonna you

know not keep his word and Shira will always

keep her a word until You know that person breaks

their word which means hers is nullified or some

other But it's just it's just one of those things

where I was half expecting her to go you know,

against her word just to see something a little

bit different out of her, but they keep true

to the values that Filmation has instilled in

both He -Man and She -Ra throughout these so

many years. So that's what I really loved about

this plot was that she was not going to break

the rules just to save herself. Yeah, absolutely.

Yeah, a couple things that I liked about this

one, but the plot itself seems a little bit,

you know, there's not a lot to it. Basically

just she or being captured. We don't get a lot

other than she makes a promise that she's not

gonna escape. That is a very interesting predicament

that she puts herself into, but the plot's not

very complex, especially compared to the last

two episodes we talked about where there's a

lot of different moving pieces, a lot of different

characters, et cetera. So it is pretty straightforward,

but sometimes simple is better. So I definitely

feel like this time it was a simple, more straightforward

plot actually worked especially. After the last

two passing there were bad episodes, but it makes

it even it makes it even more easy to kind of

swallow this one So I won't say too much more

because I don't want to reveal too much my whispering

woods moments But what about you what what kind

of highlights you have for sheer of making a

promise? I wasn't sure where the episode was

going, but I love the result Like I wasn't like

the whole time she was trapped or the whole time

that she agreed to be imprisoned by her line

She's like oh, I should just break this door.

No. I can't do it. I can't do it I have to keep

my promise so I should do this so I should do

that and she doesn't know how the hell and then

she just you know gazes out into the stars and

Hey, guess what I can now have I know I know

she's had you know telepathy with animals and

all that stuff, but you know basically pulling

off a sorceress move and reaching out through

the galaxies to reach him and was the most interesting

part of this episode i think that was an interesting

way to be able to bring him into this now it

doesn't say how he actually gets to a theory

we're under the insult assumption that he went

to grayskull and the sorceress open the door

because at the end of the thing he goes back

through a portal like we've seen before so as

far as it seems like that's become less and less

of a thing for them like they care less and less

on how they're there is just the worst was i

get that by this point i guess just realize that

they can come to and fro whenever they want so

there's a lot of this row back at guys i was

to be are they supposed to be twins okay so that

and some credence to the whole Telepathy thing

that it does. Yes, so I guess that helps Let's

see. The whole promise thing was crazy to me

at first, but then I knew she wouldn't want to

be just as bad as Hordak I loved all the action

in this episode The action was great and the

battle the pattern was one hell of a battle suit

Hordak where the hell it reminds me of Old Bruce's

Batman battle suit from Batman Beyond if anyone's

ever seen that show in Batman Beyond Bruce is

like Bruce Wayne's like 80 something years old

his heart can't take wearing the bat suit so

He gave it up, but at one point or another in

the episode in the series There's an episode

where he actually has a robotic battle suit Batman

battle suit that he puts on and that the Hordak's

battle suit kind of reminded me of that What

do you got for woods moments? We've been doing

this a little bit too long, sir I'm simply gonna

read down my list First thing I have good action

overall I really enjoyed the action on this one.

I thought that was missing at times in some of

these other previous episodes, so I like that

they focused on that a little bit. I like how

he meant he had to be summoned. I like the whole

twin aspect, the whole telepathy type thing,

and that it caused us to have another crossover.

My third note, interesting suit for Hordak. and

my final note was the promise angle ended up

being a good one. I like the fact that she couldn't

break that promise and had to find another way

around it. So word for word, what do you say?

I do have one more here that I forgot and this

is kind of bordering. This is kind of like in

the middle of the Fright Zone and Whispering

Woods and it's actually going to be an image

of this in the post. The ship that's about to

crash with the on beast island this year is already

landed and she's getting ready to you know he

ends up up in the sky somewhere riding a bat

mech like a broncing bull uh... so she lands

on beast island the ship that's that has the

prisoners the the rebelled because horak sweeps

in his horde battle suit basically just takes

a net out captures bow and glimmer and madam

razz and all them people uh... man with a little

bit okay whatever uh... so the ship is about

to crash line of the style and she really has

she's landed and is watching it he man comes

up behind her it seems as if she looks at him

while he is looking up at the falling ship and

they just put their hands up without saying a

damn thing to each other now again this could

go into the twin thing but he's not looking at

her she's looked the way her I'll have to show

you the picture so you can see what I'm talking

about the way that she is looking in the way

that he is looking it's not they're not directly

looking at each other and it kind of kind of

kind of bothers me but I don't know it just Did

you have anything that went full Fright Zone?

Yes, a couple things actually. And their nitpicks.

I actually just sent you that picture so you

can see what the hell I'm talking about. With

Fright Zone, since when does Sprocker have a

crush on Adora? Come on now! Everybody has a

crush on Adora, that's just a given. Okay yeah,

but since when do they actually show it in the

show? Yeah, and I still hate Octavia's voice.

Yeah, I forgot to write that down I did like

Octavia being in there and I think she could

be a cool character with that voice is awful

Yeah, so that's just bad So the PSA was about

letting people know what you're doing so you

don't worry about it when you wander off I guess

didn't we just have that one at the beginning

of this episode or yeah Similar similar. So alright,

you've given out lots of hardware today. Do you

have anything left in your trophy case? Yep What

do you got? Horde bat to Octavia's voice. I wish

Ursula would just come in and rip it right out

of her. Oh, that's a good crossover right there.

I like that. She -Ra meets the Little Mermaid.

There you go, folks. Yeah, we could have Octavia,

we could have Mermista, we could have Merman.

I like this. I like this. And taking her voice,

that's a good one. Yeah. A protection sword to

both He -Man and She -Ra, because I do like how

they work together and the whole twin thing and

everything else. What about you? I just got one

to give out. That is a Horde Bat, and I'm gonna

give that to Sprocker for basically being the

one responsible for She -Ra being captured. So

that's not a cool move. That's the most important

person to your rebellion, so maybe stop being

a douche. All right, as far as episode rating,

you started with a three and a half. You went

to four and a half. You can't give it a five

and a half. What do you give this one? Ten and

a half. You can't do that. What's your score

out of five? Outside of Octavia's voice and outside

of the whole Sprocker thing, those are minor

nitpicks that I cannot change at this point.

We can't change any of this stuff, but they weren't

so god -awful, horrible moments that I can...

All the goodness with She -Ra and He -Man and

Adam and Adora in this just outweigh it all,

so five. Five the rare five from TMG one Mike

on she were making a promise I will also go up

like I have in every episode just like you did

I was two and a half three and a half now I will

go to four and a half so I am almost there with

you not quite able to give this one a full five

but I am just a little tiny bit below you four

and a half so a good way to end the episode we're

gonna take another break and then when we come

back we'll give you our final thoughts on these

three episodes and where we stand now that we

are down to the final few that were ten episodes

away from being done wishing No problem, sis.

Adora! Did you meet my good friend, Dina? It's

good to meet you, Dina. Oh, Adora. Oh, I've heard

so much about you. Would you tell me a story?

Well, I'll be glad to, Dina. I'll tell you a

story about this locket. It was a present from

my friend Seahawk. He gave it to me when I last

visited him. It's time for me to go home, Seahawk.

And this is my going -away present to you, Adora.

A locket! Seahawk! It's beautiful! There's one

half for you and one for me. This locket was

given to me by a kindly sea witch. It has a special

magic. If you're ever in trouble, my locket will

glow and let me know. A magic locket! I think

must be someone who will give me the key to catching

her We are back here on myths of a theory episode

74 and Yeah, like I was like after episode 73

I was like, oh my god, this series is just going

so downhill What did I tell you kind of well?

It's kind of evened out at this point. I'm waiting

Yeah, I know Crossovers and crossovers and crossovers

happening the rest of the way that you might

enjoy and look at what happens this episode three

and a half four and a half and a five from here

like Yeah, it doesn't get much better than that.

I mean unless you would have three fives or something

like that. That's Hard to be a little ridiculous

with that first episode. Yeah But yeah, a lot

of crossovers. There's more crossovers coming.

We saw a little bit of Rattler that we don't

usually get to see. We saw a little bit of Octavia.

There's going to be some more coming up with

some of the other Rebellion members. So hopefully

some other good episodes still remain. And we

only have 10 to go. I'm saying let's hope for

at least four or five good ones. How about that?

I'll settle for 50 -50. Give me five good ones

out of the final 10, and I'll be happy. Yeah,

that'd be good. Are you giving me nine good ones

out of ten? I mean, I'll fall for that. Let's

just end on a super high note, but I will even

settle for five. Five, four, five, six. I'm good

with that. You give me two or three good ones

the rest of the way, that's going to be a painful

final ten. Yeah. All's I can think of is that

dentist commercial. Four out of five dentists

recommend, and the fifth dentist, what happened

to him? We don't know. There's something else

that I told you, we're going to have some of

the recurring characters show up. We had Sorrowful,

we had Seahawk, et cetera. There's still going

to be a couple more of those too, so look out

for those. That's good. That's good. Thank you
