About this Episode

OptimusSolo and TFG1Mike wrap up their coverage of the entire Filmation She-Ra series with a comprehensive look back. They discuss favorite and least favorite characters from both the Rebellion and the Horde, analyze the show's writers and voice acting, and rank their top 10 and bottom 10 episodes. This marks the end of their multi-year journey through the original He-Man and She-Ra animated universe.

I think it's time for She -Ra. Hello, this is

Optimus Solo and welcome to the 82nd chapter

in our Powers of Grayskull series with me for

this journey into the Masters of the Universe

franchise as always is TFG1 Mike, hello. Yay,

She -Ra's over with. Not quite. Okay, so I did

a little bit of math here on my own but it took

us three years to get through He -Man and it

took us two years to get through She -Ra. Alright,

so we have a chance for this other stuff to be

done in a year. Oh, it will be done in a year.

If I have to, you know, fly to Chicago and beat

the hell out of you, it will be done in a year.

Bring your Havoc staff. Alright, so are you ready

for the final myth of Aetherius? Yes. Alright

because in this episode if you haven't already

figured out since we've already covered all of

the sheer episodes as well as the Christmas special

in this episode We're closing the book We're

telling our thoughts on the last myth of aetheria

as we not only close the book on She ra proper

but close the book on all of filmation He man

shira masters of the universe etc So this will

kind of end not just one show but almost like

the two show arc I guess you could say so what

are your thoughts as we kind of? put the stamp

on the filmation era of Masters of the Universe

before we get into the specifics. Okay well I

find it very ironic like Alanis Morissette ironic

like rain on your wedding day ironic that as

soon as I got home from California as soon as

I get my bearings back on my computer and I get

that all up and running and whatever else I open

my Netflix app on my Windows 10 machine and Lo

and behold because I never I never normally if

I had something to my watch list on Netflix or

whatever the hell they call it I never usually

remove stuff like Netflix will Netflix will remove

stuff every now and then because they change

their stuff around so He -Man and She -Ra used

to be in Netflix and then they went to Hulu and

then they went into oblivion with Megatron and

Galvachon and everybody else I come home lo and

behold what the hell is in netflix season one

of both shows i'm like you gotta be kidding me

they're not gonna let you forget it so in this

episode as we wrap up here we're gonna be doing

some fun stuff kind of like we did for the he

-man wrap up so we're gonna be looking at our

favorite and least favorite characters horde

members rebellion members all that jazz a little

character look we'll kind of sum up our thoughts

on the writers of the series the voice acting

overall the crown Achievement I guess for today

or the the grand finale will be when we go over

our top 10 episodes and our bottom 10 episodes

I'm sure there's gonna be some agreement and

some disagreement along the way for that. We're

gonna go over our statistics for our Horde bats

and our protection swords as well as just the

overall ratings and it'll be interesting to see

who rated she were better Mike or me I have all

that stats So we hope all of you guys are ready

because it's time one last time to go back to

Etherea. A female he -man! This is the worst

day of my life! Alright, first up today in this

She -Ra finale, look back on the entire Filmation

She -Ra series, we're gonna get right into characters

first. So, we're gonna do this, let's first look

at our favorite and least favorite, just generic

characters. So, not horde members, not rebels.

Wait, wait, wait, that's not what we discussed.

You want to do you want to do I have it listed

as rebellion and horde members and then other

good and bad characters Rebels and the horde

members would be better last like the finale

like the more important characters But we can

do it in any order you wish so why don't you

start us off with your favorite least favorite?

How whatever characters you want to talk? Let's

start with the bad characters first Glimmer frost

a bow and Lukey Or my four least favorite Rebellion

member characters. And the only reason why Frost

is in there is because of her consistent fawning

and falling all over He -Man in that one episode.

Say those four again. Glimmer, Frosta, Bo, and

Lukey. I will agree with two of them. Would you

like to take a guess? Yeah, Bo and Lukey. No,

the two I'm with you on are Bo and Glimmer. And

really, Glimmer didn't have much to do as we

dwindled down into Season 2. I mean... She became

more annoying though. She was better in the first

few episodes. After the first few episodes, she

just gets increasingly less important and less

interesting. Exactly. And Bo has always been

less interesting and more annoying than anything

else. Yeah, I think they're both... Easily my

two least favorite characters if I'm trying to

expand it a little bit I'd add two other ones

besides I would not put frost or looking in there.

I actually don't dislike them, but I would put

perfuma as You know if I'm thinking about those

those kind of like lesser -known You know less

screen time rebel members, you know, you had

like flutterina and Casus Bella even in a way

frost Vermis to all those perfuma was the one

that worked the least for me right so so i didn't

really care for her and as far as a more like

common character i did not really like queen

angela yeah see i i didn't see enough we've seen

we've seen enough of her but like again I'm looking

and maybe I shouldn't look at it this way But

I'm looking at it more towards the end of the

series like the last like the whole of season

two It's like I don't remember a lot of Angela

centric storylines. I would say through the first

three quarters of the first season. She was alright,

but again, I Hate her voice so much. I Can't

get past it so I don't like her as a character

at all I think like if you're comparing her to

like Marlena It's no no contest no contest. Yeah,

so the I those are I only had four two So I'm

we're halfway in line because I dislike bow I

dislike glimmer by far more than anybody But

I'll throw in perfume Angela you have frosta

and then look any of any other bad You know rebel

members that you want to throw in there not right

off, but I will say when it comes to Lukey This

episode will air January 31st, 2017. February

1st, 2017, we will be airing A Das Baron. My

Motu comic buddy and I just reviewed the next

three issues in our series for He Man the Eternity

War from DC Comics. We reviewed issues 11, 12,

and 13 of that series. And in that, in one of

those issues, it was the second time I noticed

in the comic that Lukey popped up. He's just

popped up as a background character. He was standing

next to some other character. So it wasn't like

he was hiding or anything. It was just, uh, fans,

guess what? Hey, look. Look who it is. You know,

that kind of thing. And I asked Ades Barron,

I'm like, all right, so there's this huge divide

amongst the Masters fans, and everyone normally

hates him. But I asked him, I said, who is the

worst sidekick character? In Motu, I said, is

it Orko? Because everybody usually hates Orko.

Or is it Luki? And we both said, emphatically,

Luki is worse than Orko. I think that's unfair,

because Orko is a good character. Orko is too

good of a character to put against that. If I

was saying Luki, I would compare him to the other

side characters in this series. So you'd have

to compare him to the likes of Kao. broom or

something like that, which I think is a little

bit more fair. I'm not saying he wins any of

those matchups, but Orko, I don't get the hate

for Orko at all. So I never have. I mean, is

Orko sometimes annoying? Yes, but like he there

have been worse characters than Orko. Yeah. So

let's flip it to the to the Horde members. Which

Horde members did you not? care for. That would

be Catra, Scorpia, and Grizzlor. Scorpia is only

in there, it's only because of a few times, because

really, again, that's another character that

they dropped off. She was in Secret of the Sword,

she was in a few episodes here and there throughout

the first season. I cannot remember a single

episode in season two that she was in off the

top of my head without actually having to look

it up. And because they never really used her,

there was never really a challenge for She -Ra

or the Rebellion members. So, yeah, and Catra,

you know, the voice, and just the whole idiocy

of that character. The only thing that I enjoyed...

about catra was the origin story that they gave

us in season two for that she actually stole

her mask from some other queen cat lady whatever

the hell it was magic cats yeah there you go

i was gonna say risk i think it's a risk to cats

but something like that uh... and then grisloor

again grisloor is essentially he's supposed to

be a smarter version of beastman but sometimes

he doesn't dumb he doesn't come off that well

Yeah, I don't think he compares to beastman,

but I mean that is the obvious comparison But

I don't think as like quality of a character

he compares right beastman's on a different level

I was so borderline of putting grizzler on my

list as bad ones, too But he's just almost like

a non character to me. Yeah, you know I mean

he doesn't do hardly anything He doesn't show

up as much as you would think he would and so

he was just kind of like Do I really dislike

him? I don't know. I don't really know much about

him, but he's he's not good He's not a good character.

He's just kind of the character that they did

nothing with. But I am 100 % in agreement with

Scorpia. I think out of all of the female horde

members, she is the worst for me. I just... Even

if you just compare her to Katra, I think Katra

is better Katra turns into the panther, you know

Katra has the origin story Katra is you know

at one point the the You know the force captain

I guess you'd call it She you know, she she's

almost she's not as good as Eva Lynn, but she's

almost more of like that number two for Hordak

so Scorpion just what is what is good about Scorpion?

There's nothing and so far and as I mentioned

earlier Das and I have been doing the DC comics

from, we've been doing them for a couple years

now, but they actually started in 2012 at DC

with the Masters comics. So we started with that

six issue mini series from 2012 until now. Scorpia

in the comics has had maybe one or two appearances

per, per comic series. And again, they don't

ever do anything with her. It's like they just

don't care now. Is that because apparently nobody

cared do anything with her in this series? possibly

Yeah, I did have a couple different ones than

you on my other list besides Scorpio though I

would put I don't know what you're gonna think

about this one, but I put a hordeck as As one

of my least favorite horde members. I I want

to like him. I like his look I like the voice

actor. I like some of the stuff he does but Man,

I was expecting more. I thought he was gonna

be more of an intimidating or more of an intelligent

or more of a I don't know something better than

what I ended up seeing over the course of the

series That was my biggest disappointment was

his character I expected to like him and then

I'm gonna throw in Horde Prime as well because

I wish that did not exist. Yeah I don't mind

some but maybe something that was above that

connects Skeletor, Hordak and all this blah blah

blah but I am done with the the rainbow colored

or the you know the arm or the the voice from

heaven that somehow has a human son like get

Horde Prime out of this series. I um yeah Hordak

is only have him on my best list because of some

of the comedic like a lot of the comedic moments

honestly seriously if I really wanted to just

put him on my best list for one thing would be

the world war two arm cannon the classic classic

cannon but the problem with Hordak is is that

he doesn't in in the as imposing he does like

again i i'm only comparing it to the comics that

that i've been reading is because in the comics

he's more of a bad ass you know he shows up in

the current series in the attorney war series

that we're reading he shows up looking like twenty

eleven mum rough from the twenty eleven thundercats

series and he basically beats the crap out of

shira this hordak as much as we all love george

descenzo as much as we all love the voice as

much as we all love the comedy bits of hordak

in the long run he has no workable plans technically

he already won and we don't ever see that that's

what i wanted out of shira i wanted to see uh...

uh... i'm currently I'm actually just starting

to go through, but I'm currently going back through

Thundercats to watch the old 85 Thundercats series

again. Without me? Yes. And that series has multiple

episodes that are multiple -parter episodes.

And all that She -Ra has is Secret of the Sword

that was originally five episodes. They cut it

together as a movie. There could have been so

many other multi -parters here where you got

Hordak to be bigger, better. You could have had

a four, a two -parter, three -parter where we

actually see a flashback of the war that enabled

Hordak to win, to get Etheria. We don't even

see that. Yeah. They don't go there. Should we

keep it all bad now in this first section? Let's

just talk about all the bad characters that we

don't like first, and then we'll flip it. So

let's go to just the regular characters that

you didn't like. Not horrid members, and not

horrid ones. The regular characters. Regular

characters that you, but the good characters

that you didn't like. Have I really don't have

any because honestly Shira at this point is such

a blur to me like Unless it's a very easy one

Wait cousin Jeremy's not in this series. No,

it's some other names. Yeah, you have Prince

Joel Yeah, Prince Joel was bad. Okay, Kevin was

bad. Yes. Yes you were Which is weird because

one of my best friend's name is Joel, so I have

a Prince Joel and a Prince Kevin and they're

both awful characters. Lena, the one that was

obsessed with She -Ra, she was terrible. My least

favorite good character that I wish didn't exist?

The Cosmic Cat. The Cosmic Cat. A blemish on

an otherwise perfect episode. So those you could

do the same thing we did with human you could

throw all of the good kids and yeah Like almost

every single one of them minus maybe one or two

that didn't quite great on my nerves as much

But all of the good kids those would be my least

favorite characters that were supposed to be

good Yeah, I Don't have very many on the other

side though I only have two for the bad guys

that I didn't like because I'd like a lot of

the one -off bad guys Yeah, the ones I didn't

was false face and inspector dark me Okay now

inspector Dark you did have multiple appearances

and I did like his second appearance I think

a little bit better than the first one But I

just I don't know I thought that was weak like

you have this guy coming from whore prime to

inspect Hordak and this that and the other and

it should work more than it did I just didn't

overall care for that character and he ends up

being more dumb or more silly than he should

be as like this inspector that's coming to Do

whore primes business, so that was kind of why

I didn't like him Yeah, I really don't have I

mean for least favorite other characters I mean

I could just put all the kids in a basket I mean

really you know that there I have a note here

There was one kid, but I don't remember which

one it was that I actually did like at one point

It was closer to the end of the series, right?

But as far as least favorite other villains I

only have a best and I think he's actually part

of the board though, so I'm not really sure Let's

take a quick break. Let's come back and turn

it to positive. We bitched and moaned about some

of the characters we didn't like, whether they

were hordes, rebels, or just kind of side characters,

one -off characters. Let's turn it positive and

see if we can get more excited about She -Ra

heading into this grand finale. I hope Madame

Spell can find Eman. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I hope

she remembers it right. It's very old magic.

And Madame's a very old magician. Wazzle wazzle,

wizzle we, show us where our friends will be.

and we're gonna talk about the good stuff now,

so where are we starting? Who put you in charge

of this? Hey, you're the one driving all over

the place over here. I'm going rogue, I'm in

charge. Good characters, let's keep it positive,

so let's start with just the side characters,

we'll end with the ones that everybody knows

about. So any side characters that you liked

that were either supposed to be bad or supposed

to be good, but weren't technically rebels or

horde members? Like I said... There was one kid,

but I don't remember which one it was but I know

it was close to the end of the series The only

other one he doesn't really get a lot of appearances,

but I did it. I did enjoy light. Hope Okay, technically.

He's not a rebellion member. He's a he's a some

sort of quite literally you know some sort of

a Couple of them blur the lines a little bit.

Yeah, give you that I have a couple that I liked

a lot first of all a Seahawk you know I thought

he was a great character he shows up you know

four or five times and I thought he is a good

kind of other end of the spectrum from Bo type

of male character that we get in the rebellion

so to speak there was that episode that had King

Nero who we knew from He -Man right that I liked

him a lot and then the rock people You know,

it doesn't matter which one it is, but you know

the three or four rock people that show up I

thought they were fun I wish I would have got

more episodes with them instead of just like

the two that we get and then General Sunder Both

as a horde member and then later as a rebellion

member So that's kind of why I put him in with

this group, but I didn't like him overall and

then from the bad side There was Colonel blast

it was kind of that there was that string of

episodes where it was like these random horde

members that were like Captains or corporals

or generals or whatever and Colonel blast and

General Sunder were like the two that I like

the most She was kind of a mercenary purchased

by Hordak for an episode, but Hantara you know,

the Thundercat connection, I guess, here. But

Huntara, I thought was cool. She kind of comes

in as kind of, you know, she's going to go take

care of business and capture everybody. And then

Dr. Drome, he was with the episode with Acrobat

and a couple other people. I liked him for some

reason. So those were kind of my favorite side

characters. Any other ones that you could think

of? No, not really Well with with the other villains

again, technically he was probably part of the

Horde But he wasn't always with the Horde. I

think he only had one appearance multibot. I

liked multibot. Yeah, multibot was good What

about the other Horde members then if we're on

that track kind of getting more closer to the

Horde? Who else did you like? Alright, so for

the Horde members my the ones I have on here

imp because imp is always hilarious The comedian

of the group, Mantana, because Mantana is always

doing something funny. I liked Shadow Weaver

when she was actually doing something for herself,

not necessarily for Hordak. And then Hordak,

again, as we got down to the nitty gritty of

season two, I started to notice two different

sides of Hordak. And it depended on who was animating

the episode and who was writing the episode,

because it depended on what the story was being

told. But there are so many stories in Season

2 where Hordak is either super serious and doesn't

want to be messed with, or he's doing Bugs Bunny

Wild takes with his face. There are so many...

expressions on that guy's face and I just absolutely

find that hilarious so that's one of the reasons

one of the only reasons why Hordak is in my good

or best favorite for for the Horde members and

only because of that and not because of his sheer

lack of being able to actually pull off any schemes

that actually would work because again You're

talking about a guy who, even though he's answering

to Horde Prime, he's already taken over the planet.

I mean, this isn't like He -Man, where Skeletor

has to fight to try to win to try to take it

over. Hordak's already done it, so I mean, Hordak

can, you know... Pretty much sit back and you

know watch the Patriots kill the Falcons which

is not gonna happen. Yes, it is Falcons are gonna

light them up anyway 31 to 13 I predicted right

now. It's gonna be nobody can hold the Falcons

to 13 points Any other Horde members that you

wanted to highlight? No, all right. Well, I'm

with you 100 % on imp I did not expect to like

imp I figured that would be a character I didn't

like but he does add a lot of comedic touch to

it So I do like his interaction with quite a

few of the characters actually I will say Shadow

Weaver as well. I wish they almost would have

used her as more of a more on her own where like

they had to summon her or kind of go get her

at her own. Like she lived somewhere else and

she stayed somewhere else. And then they had

to like do that. I wish they would have gone

more with that angle. But I did still like Shadow

Weaver. I'm going to put Modulock on there. I

did like I like him. He's kind of like the tarantulas

of. She -Ra, where he's kind of on his own, he's

kind of doing his own thing. We do see him at

one point, he's like the Horde chef or the Horde

cook and then the Horde farmer and then the Horde

somebody else, but he's always kind of doing

his own thing, so I like that about him. Some

lesser Horde members that I wish we would have

seen more, Voltak. I like him, I wish we would

have seen him more, and Hunga or the Harpies.

No, I gotta disagree on that. I'm so glad they

were only in the very beginning. I thought they

would have added a cool touch to like this another

side of like another group of villains. They

could have added a little bit more to me. But

those voices were horrible. Oh yeah, I don't

like the voices. I also have Tongue Lasher as

just kind of a random character I just wish we

really got to see more of. How about this one

though for favorite Horde member? I don't know

if you technically would consider him a member

of the Horde or not. But can I put Skeletor in

this group? He was a former member of the Horde.

Because every time he shows up, I loved it. So

I gotta throw Skeletor some love in this conversation.

Okay, let's flip it to Rebels. We already talked

about not liking Bo, not liking Glimmer, etc.

Who did you like? At times not all the time,

but at times cowl has his moments When he's not

putting bow down when he's not, you know doing

something stupid there are several I think my

favorite cowl episode and this has nothing to

do with my actual favorite episodes because it's

not even on there My favorite cowl episode was

the one where it's him and his evil twin or his

evil cousin or whatever the hell that was I think

it was red eye So like cowl I don't like a lot

of the Twiggets, but the one I did like, the

one that I saw the most was Sprague. He was the

one, if you watch back to Secret of the Sword,

when he jumps out, oh, two goes there, and Kal's

like, Sprague, you nini, it's us. I like Sprague.

He's a little spunky. I love Swiftwind. Spunky

is somebody else. Spunky is somebody else. No,

no, no. I mean, he has a little, he's a little

spunky. There is another Twigget named Spunky.

Yeah, I know. Swiftwind, absolutely love Swiftwind.

I wish he had a little bit more of an action

piece in the series because sometimes he does

and other times, a lot of times he doesn't. I

do like Shira. She does have her moments. I think

there was only out of 90, out of, well, what

do we have? How many total episodes in the series?

Oh, they're rolling, okay, yeah. Out of 93 episodes,

she's probably only had like four or five moments

where I just absolutely cannot stand her, but

the rest of the time I enjoy her. But my number

one, and it has to be a tie, because they're

a duo, because they're an old married couple,

it's Madame Rasenbroom. Oh my god. Well, somehow

we are in agreement with most of this, because

I have Madame Rasenbroom as well on my list.

I do think they... don't get old, you know, even

through all these episodes, they never got great

in or old or annoying to me. I agree with you,

Swift Wind, the same way. He was always cool.

Didn't always have great moments in every episode,

but overall a good character. I also have She

-Ra on there, and I'm doing the disagree. I have

to stick with one of my favorite characters from

when I was a kid and put Frosta in the good group,

too, because I just have always liked Frosta

as a character. I think she wasn't as good as

I hoped she would be, but I still... ended up

siding on the good side for her. You know, we

only saw her in full episodes maybe two or three

times, and the sad thing is, the only time I

can really remember is when she whored out for

He -Man. Hey, who wouldn't? It's He -Man, so

I gotta ask the question since we're talking

about characters here. Overall, if you could

only pick one, do you prefer She -Ra or Adora?

Too bad Adora couldn't come along with us. It

seemed like a better idea for me to come instead

Are you saying you'd rather Adora was here instead

of me? No, of course not Oh, dearie my So you

were saying that you prefer Shearer's company

over Adora's No, I mean that is I think it's

an incredibly rude thing to say Boy some people

but but i didn't mean all right bo what did you

mean do you prefer she was company or adoras

i think i think oh what's that adora hands down

see i'm gonna go the other way i'm gonna say

sheera um not i don't i i like adora better than

i like adam i think i would say that yeah but

uh... i i like she wrote better than i like a

door for some reason i think it worked more when

she was here and there's a little bit less of

a i don't know she made for a better character

issue but i do like how much they played the

two personalities and what they have to do for

each other without each other you know that type

of thing like yeah That was one of my fears of

the series is, okay, so we know she used to be

the force captain, she was brainwashed by the

horde, now she's not, now she's gonna lead the

rebellion, and it's Adora as the rebellion leader,

and She -Ra shows up every now and then, so originally

I thought that it was gonna be She -Ra throughout

the whole series, and we weren't gonna get a

whole hell of a lot of Adora stories where we

kinda got like a whole even keel of both sides

of that character. Well, this has been interesting

because we just kind of been going off the cuff

and kind of just you know Which characters we

liked which characters we didn't like and kind

of our general feelings type of conversation

But now we're gonna get to see if our money I

guess is where our mouth is because we've been

spouting off about this, but let's see what the

statistics say So when we come back, we're gonna

actually get the stats on who got the most protection

swords and who got the most horde bats and see

if it all lines up with what we just said about

our favorite and least favorite characters. So

stick with us. Some statistics coming up. I've

never seen so many flyers. Something must be

happening. Something big. We better get to Whispering

Woods fast. I getcha. By the power of Grayskull.

It's time for some of the stuff you may have

been curious, because obviously throughout every

episode as we go through the podcast, we give

out stats and we give out protection swords,

we give out horde bats, we give out crystal castles,

and I know nobody at home is probably tallying

up what we're doing, but I have done that for

you. So now it's time for our first chance to

actually see what the numbers tell us over the

course of this entire series. So, Mike, where

do you want to start with? Horde bats or protection

swords? Let me start with the protection swords,

go to the horde bats, and then do crystal castles.

Alright, well Crystal Castle's come later in

the podcast, but let's go ahead and start with

protection swords And we just talked about what

our favorite characters were. Let's see what

it says here I gave out 75 protection swords

over the course of the series And that's what

93 episodes so not not quite one an episode not

even close Mike do you think you gave out more

or less? You should know because I always give

you a hard time for giving out too many So I

gave out 75 protection swords Mike you gave out

a hundred and twenty two So almost 50 more than

I did So wait between 70 of years and a hundred

and twenty two of mine in 36 podcasts. Holy crap

Yeah, and I have it broken down as to who got

the most so Mike. Who do you think got the most

swords from you? It's probably Shira or Madame

Rasmbroum Alright, so here is your top group

here. Number one, most protection swords for

TFG1 Mike is She -Ra at 23. So you gave She -Ra

23 protection swords. Up next in second place

for you, He -Man at 10. So He -Man got 10, followed

by Hordak with 7. Wow. Then one of your predictions,

Madame Raz at 6. Man, and then you have a group

of them at five you have Mantenna with five orco

Skeletor and Swift Wind all with five and this

is about to blow your mind for protection swords

for broom and for protection swords for bow Yeah,

but his horde bats are gonna outweigh that so

that's fine. You also gave for Protection swords

to everybody. Yeah, so four different times.

You just you just gave it to everybody Interesting,

interesting there. So I was not expecting as

much love for Hordak as we saw there. But the

other ones, I guess, somewhat line up with what

you talked about. She -Ra, Madame Raz, Mantena,

Swift Wind, and Broom all kind of towards the

top. And apparently, obviously, a fan of the

crossovers because you have Oracle Skeletor and

He -Man all towards the top as well. Shift it

over to me. My number one recipient of protection

swords? Eight of them. Your number one was 23

by the way. Yeah, I know. My number one was eight.

Still the same person though. Shira tops my list.

Adora and He -Man coming next with four apiece.

So similar even though they're much less as far

as the numbers go. And then I had three for Cowl,

three for Seahawk, and three for Skeletor. So

those were the ones getting the most love out

of ours. All right, let's shift it to the negative.

Okay I Sorry, I'm I actually know the number

so that's why I'm laughing, but I gave 75 protection

swords I gave 70 or bats so almost right in line

one to one there Wow give you gave a hundred

and twenty two protection swords But you drop

down to 81 or bats So maybe not as negative as

it may have come across over the episodes you

gave out 40 more protection swords than horde

bats So here we go though breaking it down here

for me Number one recipient of Hordebats? I guess

it makes sense. She -Ra gets the most swords.

Hordak gets the most Hordebats. So Hordak gets

eight. Bow gets seven. So Bow came in second.

And then Glimmer and She -Ra each had four, followed

by Adora and Kaol each getting three. Now, there

is one other kind of character I need to throw

out there, because if you put them all together,

I give the writers eight. Horde bats Which would

tie horde effort first on my list. Yeah So keep

that in mind mike when you get to your horde

bats in your 81 of them that you gave out Winner

by far. It's gotta be both Is she ra what 11

No way oven horde bats given to shira one of

them ten of them to shira proper one of them

to shira's manhands Oh yeah, that's right. I

do remember that one. So she gets the most swords

from you and the most horde bats. Wow. So that's

interesting. Then your prediction would come

right next. Bo gets eight for second place. Followed

by Glimmer with five, so that completely matches

up with your two least favorite characters. Then

you have Hordak and the actual protection sword

itself. They each get three. So you gave the

sword a horde bat three different times. You

know, I mean, a giant tennis racket, let's see,

a giant tennis racket, she almost dropped it

and lost it series over, and the other one was

probably, I don't know, oh, the boomerang, the

fucking boomerang, oh my God, don't get me started.

But, but, but, if we can, included some different

groups, your range would go a little different,

because tying Bo with eight would be everybody.

You gave everybody a horde bat eight times. Yep.

All right? Couldn't narrow it down. Had to give

everybody a horde bat. But your leader, if we

did groups, 21 times you gave it to an individual

from behind the scenes. This could be a writer.

This could be Lou Shimer himself. This could

be producers. This could be voice actors. Any

of those. No, I'm sorry. You gave Lou Shimer

four horde bats. You gave George DeCenzo one,

one of the voice actors. You gave the background

painters one. You gave the audio department one.

You gave the producers one. You gave writers

probably about eight or nine of them. So 21 times

you gave a writer or someone behind the scenes

a Horde Bat, including one to yourself, which

I am guessing that you gave it to yourself for

bad podcasting. I don't know. But 21 total times

somebody other than a character in the show got

a Horde Bat. So that is the leader for you 21

then it goes down to 11 for She -Ra so I mean

they for the most part they match up, but are

you surprised that She -Ra gets the most? Not

the protection swords I kind of thought she or

Madame Rasenbrun would because again I know Madame

Rasenbrun are two separate characters, but since

they are a duo they're always together. I always

just wanted them to be as one character. But

I'm really surprised that Shira has the most

horde bats. I really thought Bo was going to

take that cake. Yeah, I would have too. The last

two years we've been awfully frustrated with

Bo. Yeah, as frustrated as he is, probably in

a town or a rebellion full of females. Anyways,

if we wanted to look at Hordebats and Protection

Swords, I wanted to quickly highlight my favorite

ones, because I have all of them in front of

me. These are the favorite ones that I think

were handed out. I've already mentioned a couple

of them, but the three that you gave for the

Protection Sword. I think that's great. I think

you giving yourself one is excellent. I love

that you gave one to the background painters.

That is hilarious. Okay, that one really quickly.

That one, I know what that was for. I don't remember

the episode, but I know what it was for. It was

for one of the background, it was one of the

backgrounds where they were driving, the horde

tanks were driving through. It was the road.

Right. It was the road thing where it was like

it all looked like a two -year -old could paint

better than this. It looked like a finger painting

like nobody's business had anybody doing that.

Yeah, that was just horrible. And I should say

you not only gave yourself one, but then another

episode you gave everybody in. Even you one as

well. So you kind of gave yourself two As far

as my side, I guess the ones that I like the

most I gave physical bullshit a horde bat So

every time that they they made some type of physical

maneuver by shira Something that was bullshit.

I gave that one one time and then I did give

Geez I want to say the um, come on spit it out

the dialogue or writing Gave not just the writing

but just the dialogue that was used overall But

I think I think you win for giving the most the

most creative because outside of physical bullshit

I didn't I gave whispering woods a protection

sword once I guess that's the closest I came

to being like off of the script so to speak so

Alright, so some interesting stuff there Any

surprises or anything that you learned from your

doling out of hardware this season? Do you think

you want to scale back a little bit next time?

Especially not not with the next series maybe

with the series after the next series, but oh

I did give a theory in kids a protection sword

oh I know I know when you did that it was when

they When they all came together to help one

of the other kids at the end of one of the episode

That's true, that's true. So that is the Protection

Swords and the Horde Bat breakdown, somewhat

lined up with our favorite and least favorite

characters, a few outliers there that we're interested

to see. We're going to take another quick break

and let's turn our attention specifically to

the voice actors behind this series and even

more so to the writers. Who were the best writers

of She -Ra and who should never write again.

Or hopefully hasn't since. Coming up next. I'm

sure some of these people are dead. Well, I will

try not to speak ill of the dead by not knowing

that they're dead Adora, you've got to speak

to Glimmer. What about? She saved Cowl and me

from some hordesmen this morning, and I'm afraid

it's gone to her head. She's been bragging about

it all over camp. It's become quite unbearable.

It can't be that bad. Adora! Yes, Glimmer? I

think I should be given more to do around here.

Talent like mine shouldn't be wasted on small

jobs. I see what you mean. Come with me, Glimmer.

Why? Does everything happen to me? You know,

it's just like, uh, Broome and me. We're a team.

His job is to fly. And my job! Let's take a quick

look at the voice cast. We don't need to spend

a whole lot of time because it's very similar

to the He -Man voice cast, but the additions

here that we got for this series were specifically

Melody Britt, George DeCenzo, and Diane Pershing,

who came in to do a few of the females later

on in season two, but specifically Britt and

DeCenzo. So overall, what did you think of the

voice acting here? And I guess what were your

favorite voices or least favorite voices overall?

I didn't write that down, but I mean if you're

just kind of spitball, yeah, yeah I Hated the

kids I hated the kids we all hated the kids because

all the kids were Linda not Linda It was either

Linda Gary or Erika Shimer, you know and and

no disrespect to Linda at all But it's just cuz

I know she is one of the people that are no longer

with us But it's just one of those things where

there's just certain voices that just not and

the problem was With the kid voice actors, if

a boy's voice is coming out of a girl or vice

versa, that was the problem. Right, especially

depending on the age of the character you're

trying to portray. Exactly. They weren't masters

at that. I mean, they were real good at some

of the other voice work they did, but they were

not good with the kid voices. They're not Tara

Strong. They're not some of these people that

have perfected it. so absolutely uh... i love

lindy britt's uh... as both adora and shira i

love her shira voice when she's uh... beaten

comical and try it like the uh... the line that

she says uh... you know and uh... when she comes

out to meet up with the man until until it's

like who this is in series or two is like that

is that and you know she she has some line i

forget what is up to my head she has some line

about or act just hanging around or something

did when she's doing stuff like that was she

has a lot of um... adores voice is more calming

it's more patient where she was supposed to be

this fierce warrior i think malindi did an amazing

job distinguishing two different voices for a

They're similar very similar, but they're still

have a lot of differences DeCenzo is Hordak is

absolutely amazing Yeah, I love it when he goes

off the handle and he just goes nuts And he just

loses his temper he just loses stuff whether

it's with Montana whether it's a Skeletor whoever

it is hell even the times that he's you know

scared of you know the giant hand, dude You know

absolutely love that I think my favorite, my

two favorite Lou Scheimer voices in this series

would be Broom and... Well, Broom is not Lou

Scheimer, so. Yes it is. No, it's John Irving.

Isn't it? Is it really? I believe so. Okay, well,

I could have sworn that was Lou. Maybe they both

did it at one point. I don't know. Anyway, okay,

so my one favorite Lou Scheimer voice is... It's

gotta be I can't even think holy crap Damn it.

You made me lose my train of thought I Mean yeah,

yes with wind spirit Kyle. Yeah Mantana, that's

what it was. It was gonna be broom and Mantana.

Oh god, Mantana. I absolutely Love that guy yeah

i think was ever does a great work i mean it

does reuse some of the ways is from him and of

course for different characters but i i do still

think they're fun voices i think this end of

doing that the comparison that he does bow and

hordak is is just kind of an interesting breakdown

i i do think this style in the gary and i want

you to do some good job with the older characters

like you said but she wrote princess dora shadow

weaver maybe uh... madame rather i think it's

fantastic by linda gary yes But man, there's

some, the kid voices are bad. Some of the female

Rebellion members are real bad. I thought Queen

Angela is probably one of my least favorite.

But it's kind of hit or miss then for a lot of

these other ones. I did like when they brought

over Alan Oppenheimer to kind of reprise some

of his characters or John Irwin, for example.

But even in some of the side characters that

they got to do in those episodes were fun because

it... made for some more diversity in the voices

than we saw with He -Man, maybe up to a certain

point, but man, I just don't care. I think if

I gave overall the voice acting in the series

a grade, it'd probably be like in the C plus

range. Like C plus, B minus, somewhere in there.

Yeah, I can agree with that. All right. Well,

let's get into the writing. All right. Obviously,

in any of these series, you have a lot of writers

that just do one -off episodes, and then you

have writers that do multiple episodes and some

of them become staples of the series. So here's

the breakdown as far as who did the most writing

for She -Ra. Any guess on who wrote the most

episodes? Put you on the spot. Wouldn't be...

Well, I know it's not Larry because Larry only

wrote a few of them. Well, he wrote more than

you thought. He's number two. Oh, there you go.

Number one is actually going to be Bob Forward.

Wow. Who wrote 14 episodes. Larry DiTilio wrote

12 episodes. And then you had Don Heckman wrote

9, and J. Michael Strzezinski wrote 8. So if

you put those together, that's like 43, that's

almost half of the episodes were written by Bob

Ford, DiTilio, Heckman, or Strzezinski. And the

other half are all one -offs. Well, we had Carol

Baxter wrote 4, we had J. Larry Carroll that

wrote 4, Michael Utwich. Philip Kassel each wrote

four, Francis Moss three, Michael Chain three,

Michael Chase Walker three, Robert Lamb three,

Stephen Fisher three, and then all the rest were

one or two. So that's kind of how it broke down

for that. And then what I also did is I actually

took and tried to figure out who wrote the best.

Number of episodes as far as kind of what they

were graded on so to speak so interesting In

as kind of how it broke down because certain

writers seem to score a little bit better with

us than others All right. Yeah Well, it's interesting

though. Some of them run the gamut like Bob Ford

for example with 14 episodes He had and what

I did is I averaged your score in my score to

get these numbers So Bob Ford he had four episodes

that were rated for or higher and then he had

four more in the three range, four in the two

range, and one at .75. So the whole gamut for

him. Larry DiTilio had a five, a four and a half,

a 4 .25, a four, a 3 .75, a 3 .5, 3 .25, and

three. So we never together rated a DiTilio episode

less than three on average. Don Heckman, a four,

a three, and then everything else 1 .25 or less

yeah he had three 1 .25s and three ones that's

because his episodes suck uh j michael straczynski

one two three four five episodes in the fours

two episodes in the threes and only one out of

two So we preferred J. Michael Trudzinski there,

too. Carol Baxter, not good. Two half point episodes

and two three point episodes. J. Larry Carroll,

decent. He had two 4 .0 episodes. And the rest

were kind of hit or miss outside of Michael Chain.

He only did three episodes. Michael Chain and

Michael Chase Walker, each only did three episodes.

And the lowest we rated either one of those guys

was 3 .25 or 3 .75. So pretty good there. Women

did not score very well with us. Should we put

some sort of disclaimer here? No seriously because

should we really folks we are you know we both

love women so you know it's just some of the

writing that some of these women did back then

you know we're not you know not to build any

walls here folks. Here's the breakdown though

if we're talking about the women Carol Baxter

3 .0 3 .0 point five and point five Then we had

Karen Wilson, 2 .75. Leslie Wilson, maybe the

best, 3 .5. But then she also had a .5. Barbara

Hembley, .5. And then the only other one was

Catherine Drennan, a three. So not a lot of love,

I guess, for the women, unfortunately, in this

series. But I guess if you had to crown somebody,

it would either be J. Michael Trzezinski. Or

larry datilio as as our favorite writers of the

series surprising that some of the bad episodes

we created bob forward Yeah so interesting breakdown,

but a lot of writing I think I think you can

somewhat tell when they went through different

like when they went through different phases

like when they had The you know datilio or straczynski

in -house writing episodes and when they had

a stretch where they're just farming out episodes

to anybody that they can find. Because you definitely

had moments in the series where it was like one

off -writer after one off -writer after one off

-writer for like a couple, you know, five, 10

episodes. And we've already gone and talked about

this every single podcast in the last 36 episodes

or 35 episodes. There are times when... You'll

get an episode written by someone who normally

doesn't write episodes or that we hadn't seen

written episodes for She -Ra. And they know nothing

of the characters. And we've talked about this

at length at this point. And that's just not

good. You should be able to give somebody...

I know for a fact that Larry DiTillio and...

I think Bob forward with him. I could be wrong

I'm not sure but I know Larry to tell you was

one of the ones that came up with the series

Bible if you have a series Bible that gives Descriptions

of who the characters are what they're supposed

to be doing what their character traits are You

show that crap to the writers so they know what

the hell they're doing. You don't just sit there

and have madam razz ride broom backwards it's

hilarious as hell but this is you know you don't

have cowl flying upside down or you don't have

you know you know i mean it's like because because

again we've already talked about this where there

have been moments that we felt that certain writer

would write a character out of cotton and there

really is no continuity of this series or the

He -Man series this is before this is single

episode stories we I understand that but I'm

just saying there's a certain formula that follows

these shows and sometimes a single writer coming

in to write one or two or three episodes did

not understand that because either they weren't

explained it or maybe they just didn't give a

crap Right, or they were just given this and

said, right, something about this, who knows.

So that's kind of our breakdown of the voice

actors and writers. We're not going to be too

overly harsh on it. It was a long time ago when

they were doing what they needed to do to get

to other places that weren't probably thinking

that this was the end all be all writing for

She -Ra. So we'll give them the break there.

But obviously some that kind of stood above,

regardless of what they were working on, that

really kind of put their best foot forward. So

we appreciated that. We're going to take another

break. And then it's my favorite part of this

whole breakdown that we do, our least Favorite

and our most favorite bottom ten in our top ten

overall episodes because this the reason this

is my favorite is because you always see this

crap that gets put out on used to be VHS DVD

whatever that's like top ten episodes or fan

favorite episodes of series blah blah blah blah

or I know Shira is specifically Accused of this

and it's true they have a best of dvd which includes

secret of the sword and then five other episodes

of the series so it that you know but i've never

i don't think i've ever seen one of those that

uh... that had any faith that actually people

like took the time to actually get the best episodes

it's always just random collection of episodes

and sometimes they're shit we're gonna give you

what it should be and what it should be right

after the break Thank you for calling P -Harmony,

the service that matches you with the podcast

that best fits your interests and needs. I really

hope you could help me because I have had no

luck finding the perfect movie podcast that gives

me everything that I want. Well, that's my job.

What are you looking for in a podcast? Well,

it needs to be a movie podcast that covers old

and new stuff, one that reviews movies but also

talks about movie news. discusses new trailers,

and is willing just to have fun with some crazy

movie games. Maybe even, you know, like the occasional

top 10 countdown? Oh, and it's gotta be a podcast

that is willing at times to delve deep into the

careers of notable directors and speak to all

movie fans, from the general audience to the

hard course in a vile. Wow, well that's quite

a resume you're looking for. What are you thinking

regarding schedule? Monthly? Weekly? Daily? Weekly,

of course. Alright, well let me crunch these

numbers in our patented podcast matrix. Let's

see what I can find for you. Wow, I don't believe

it. What is it? We actually found the perfect

match. This almost never happens. Really? Well,

dreams do come true. What is it? It is the cinema

geeks podcast, of course. Well, that sounds perfect,

but we're going to hook up with such an awesome

podcast. Well, you can find it weekly on iTunes,

Blockhog Radio, or geekcastreader .com. Awesome

podcast. Alright, we're back for my favorite

part of today's episode, our top ten and our

bottom ten. We're going to start with our bottom

ten. Well, before we start with our bottom ten,

there's some interesting facts here, folks. Uh

oh. We went, well, we went back and forth, back

and forth of over how we were going to put the

episode together, whether it was going to have

a certain format and whatever else. And you had

sent me a list of my worst rated episodes and

my best rated episodes. And you had said, OK,

make your top 10 and bottom 10 out of these.

I'm like, all right. 10 minutes later, I send

you a new format. You're like, no, I don't want

to see what your episodes are. And how did you

come up with that so fast? I'm like, oh, you

sent me the list. I just kind of moved them around.

I did delete it before I read it. Well, it was

one of those things where It took me 15 minutes

once you sent me what, you know, what my choices

were and I'm like, okay, I'll put that, that

and that. I don't ever, you were one of the ones

that agonizes over where to put what, what to

cut what. You know, I take my list serious. I

actually went back and listened to our episodes

so I could hear what I said about certain episodes.

I don't have time for that. I mentioned it while

I was driving to and from work. So there was

a couple that I'm like, I don't remember that

one enough. So I went back and listened to see

what I ranted about and then decided where it

should go. So it's going to be interesting. Because

if you, well, we'll get into the ratings a little

bit later. You had less whittling down to do

than I did, though, as well. So that helped in

your process. Because what I basically did is

took all of the episodes that were rated 0 .5

or 1. I might have included 1 .5s as well. And

that's what I sent you to. pick from right and

I had to do the same thing so alright let's let's

get your what do you want to do go back and forth

or do you want to go and do all ten of yours

first? We can do back and forth so this is the

bottom ten She -Ra Princess of Power filmation

episodes for Optimus Solo myself TF2 and Mike

number ten for me the missing axe the missing

axe I gave this a 0 .5, it was probably, it only

got a 0 .5 probably because of some moment with

Madame Ras and Broom, but this episode is the

episode with the father and the two sons and

he has them go out and use his axe and blah blah

blah, somebody steals the, it was just a horrible,

horrible episode. One of the worst parenting

episodes in this series. All right. For my number

10, I'm gonna go with one entitled, Something

Old, Something New. And sources apprentice Eli

takes the Serenity Stone from Shadow Weaver's

troopers and becomes very powerful and big -headed.

He remains unaware that without the stone in

this proper place, Etherea will become unbalanced.

Man, I... This one it wasn't the worst episode

I gave it a one But there was just some it was

too heavy -handed with the ego on the kid which

kind of rubbed me the wrong way and then there's

absolutely atrocious dialogue from Carol Baxter

in this the the dialogue is absolutely Terrible

in this episode. So it was the one of the worst

dialogue episodes of the series So that's why

I had to have it in here somewhere But it's not

a terrible as terrible as the ones that are to

come. So that's why it's only number ten Number

nine for me is for want of a horse That's a horse

of another color yeah, oh my god this episode

this was one of the ones where it was like Why

are they even writing this crap? Yeah, that I

might talk about in a bit. My number nine is

going to be Romeo and Glimmer. I don't think

I need to explain the synopsis for this one.

This was Glimmer and this was Force Cap or Force

whatever Romeo, Force Corporal, Horde Corporal

Romeo. And it, man, just the way that they did

this whole thing was just bad. And the way that

Glimmer just lets this guy into like places where

he shouldn't be within the rebellion and then.

And I just, Romeo and Glimmer, stop it. So that's

my number nine. Yeah, Romeo and Glimmer, it's

like I would rather watch Romeo and Juliet on

repeat than watch that episode ever again. Yeah.

Number eight for me is Just Like Me. Wow. Do

we have the same one? That is also number eight

for me too. Okay. So this is the one with Magilok

and his troops terrorizing the village and I

talked about Lena a little bit ago. Yeah. That

she was the one that idolized She -Ra and wanted

She -Ra to join the fight. But why was this one

so bad for you? Was this at a point where he

was already the Horde cook? Or did he get demoted?

This is the first time where he's the Horde.

We called him the Horde farmer in this one. Oh,

okay. So this is after he was the Horde scientist

and he got demoted to cook and then he got demoted

to farmer. Okay. This is the one where Bo gets

captured. When he's like, hey, I have a plan

and the very next scene we see that he's captured.

Yeah His plan was to get captured so she could

rescue him Yeah, no this one. I I think the only

reason why I gave this a half point at the time

Again was probably some man Tana thing if man

Tana was in this one. He was Yeah That's probably,

I think that's probably one of the reasons why

I only gave that half point. What I would remember

this episode for would be the way that they talked

about women in this episode was what got me.

Because they were not very friendly and the stereotypes

that they were throwing at women in general,

I was surprised it was in a series like this.

I'm surprised a very young Donald Trump didn't

write this one. Oh my. What do you got to say?

the time transformer there were no transformers

dammit there was no autobots no decepticons no

matrix no nothing what the hell not a big fan

because you thought there's gonna be some transformers

in it? not really was that the only problem?

well again this is this is the this is the one

for the folks that may or may not remember this

is the one where uh... some dude has helps hordak

you know with this Time machine thing where he

can go back and change a certain moment in time

So he would be able to win the battle of bright

moon or whatever else and it was just it was

one of the worst time travel things I've ever

seen unless you're in a damn DeLorean do not

time travel people Yeah, I think that's a good

advice coming from TFGO and Mike, for sure. I

think you were just disappointed there was no

Transformers in this episode, but we'll let that

slide a little bit. I didn't rate this one very

high either. I think I had that one as like a

two out of five, so it was not a good episode

overall. For my number seven, I'm gonna go to

The Laughing Dragon. Man, this is sorrowful.

This is the episode that is out of order, first

of all. And then this is an episode where wind

is used to pick up fire from a well of fuel.

And This is just I don't know cast Bella's voice

was bad Bo was bad in this episode. The physical

nonsense was bad. It's out of order sorrowful

It's called a laughing dragon. He never laughs.

I this was a bad episode overall. I did not like

this one at all This is a easy one. I don't know

why how it even got a one for me But this is

my seventh worst episode of the series. What's

your number six? the vivid story I want something

where the bibets and the robear burbles fight

each other because the burbles from thundercats

could beat the everliving shit out of these guys.

Oh my god. Not a big fan of the Bivvets, huh?

No, the Bivvets can go Bivvett off. This is another

one that I just had outside my group. It's at

a 2. I gave it a 2 somehow. I wasn't as down

on the Bivvets, but I get it because it's not

a good episode at all. It's not a well -written

episode. It's not a well -executed episode. The

Bivvets are just one -off characters that need

She -Ra's help from the Horde. No. Just no. All

right. Number six for you. Number six for me

you've already talked about and that is For Want

of a Horse. Yeah, this is a bad episode. It's

Horde Prime's birthday and Hordeck is trying

to give him the special gift of Swift Wind, which

in and of itself is why this episode is terrible.

He is giving Horde Prime a gift that he knows

he will hate and never use. Yeah. He wants to

give him a horse, knowing that Horde Prime hates

horses. Yeah. What is the point of that? Why

would he do that? I don't know. It was just...

And why do we have to have an episode? I hate

Horde Prime as a character. I don't need an episode

about his birthday. Alright, what's your number

five? Number five, oh boy. Getting into the worst

of the worst here. The Anxious Apprentice. I

was so close to putting this in my top 10. This

episode, once again, another kid episode. Yep.

Once again, another overanxious kid. This is

the one about the kid who thinks he can be the

Sorcerer Supreme. Shadow Weaver tricks him and

all that kind of stuff and everything else and

it's just no. Yeah, it's just another one of

those ones where the kids trying to get power

and it's not good castes Bella Involved in this

one. And yeah, thanks. She's apprentice Not good.

It was just outside. It's an honorable mention

for me. It was like two away It was like my 12th

worst For my number five Should be should be

very fresh in our minds. Let's go with Swifties,

baby The the finale the finale of the entire

series, Swift Wind having a peg - I'm sorry,

I still can't say it's a peg -a -corn. I still

can't say it without laughing. It's a peg -a

-corn, people. I'm not going to say it. But Bivvets,

again, we had... I just didn't like the fact

that... that number one, they moved the moon.

Mm -hmm. So that's not good, physically. And

then they... the baby's still born in the fright

zone. After everything they do, the baby's still

born in the fright zone, and then as parents,

they're gonna love him the same, but they're

not because once he gets changed to the unicorn,

they love him more. And it also has a single

tier. Your favorite thing in the world from 80s

cartoons. This episode was garbage, and it was

a garbage way to end the series. That's my number

five. What's your number four? Something old,

something new. Oh my god. Alright, we're in agreement

on that one. When I see certain titles for certain

things, I expect to see certain other things

that are related to that. Anyone tells you something

old, something new, you're going to finish it

up with something borrowed, something blue, because

it's part of a fucking wedding. I was expecting

to see like a train wreck of a wedding, like

a Jerry Springer episode -style wedding in Etheria.

That's what I was expecting out of this episode,

and I did not get that. No, you didn't. Yes,

I did. Oh, my. It's a bad episode. I had it at

my number 10, so obviously I'm going to agree

with that. Yeah, it's, you know, it's just...

Yeah, not good my number four that's gonna be

an episode all about an entitled book burning

Freedom is threatened as horrid villains tongue

and rattler begin to burn all of the books Yeah,

I'll talk about that later school. There's a

school in the rebellion that's beyond fabricated.

There's no reason for a school in a rebellion.

We have Bo and Adora in masks. We have just the

whole idea that freeing you from the evil books

of the rebellion, because the rebels have all

this time to write all these books. A book burning

story just really... Really and then a kid that

can cut chains with a sword And then shira just

carved out a lake pretty sure it doesn't work

like that. Plus you just destroyed all the wildlife

It was just a bad episode overall book burning

is not what I want in my shira series. So get

it out of here That's my number four. What's

your number three? jungle fever jungle fever

Did not have that one on my list. Where what

was what was the deal with that one? Why didn't

she like that one? Jungle fever was a flat zero

It was one of those episodes that just nothing...

I'm sure there was something that just absolutely

infuriated me about it, but I don't remember

off the top of my head, because I've seen so

many of these episodes of Jungle Fever. It was

just one of those ones where it's like, yeah,

what are they even doing here? Yeah, I had it

at a two, so I did not have that one. very high

as either so in agreement with you there um for

my next one oh boy um let's go with my third

worst episode which was entitled wild child so

another children episode here something is wrong

with the plants and vegetables of the whispering

woods several of the rebels and wisman blame

a pack of white fangs led by a mysterious white

ghost that have been roaming the area. I don't

know what series this episode was written for,

but it wasn't for She -Ra. And... Bo has a garden

in this episode? Yes, yes he does. Okay. They

have the most stereotype, the most non -PC stereotype

characters in the woodsman that are just awful.

There's terrible accents used, Allegra's voice

is terrible, the voice on the white fang I think

is the worst voice work I've ever heard for an

animal, there's some... physical bullshit with

the volcano. Way too convenient of a solution

for the plot. The animal language was garbage,

and I don't know, everything about this episode

is bad. Wild Child sucked. Yeah. And Wild Child

was the second to last episode of season one.

It was awful. Yes, yes it was. Number two. Glimmers

story which absolutely has nothing to fucking

do with glimmer You have an episode that's titled

glimmers story. I expect an origin I expect something

I expect some sort of adventure with glimmer

this had her in it for less than half of a fucking

second and She does nothing the rest of the episode.

I wasn't as hard on this one as you I had this

one of the three actually So this is one that

we actually differed on quite a bit, but I didn't

have it high But I'd have to go back and watch

that one to see what you hated so much about

it Yeah, but fair enough All right two for you.

My number two is going to be the mines of Mordor

Mondor I don't know if something from Lord of

the Rings. This is the one with Prince Hazard

son of King Let me just read read this because

I tried to do this I just re listened to the

episode on this one Prince Hazard son of King

Duplus of Orlandia is sent by the horde to the

mines of Mondor on planet Curtis What the fuck

are we talking about? This episode was so convoluted

It was like 17 different things trying to happen

at once. We're gonna name all these different

planets and species and characters. This, I could

not help this one at all. This was easily one

of the most convoluted, nonsensical, not sheer

episodes I've ever seen. Minds of Mondor, garbage.

And number one for me, you already talked about

it. Book burning. First of all, number one, Lew

Shimer. May the man rest in peace, but every

interview, every anything I've seen of him before

he passed, when he was at conventions, even in

the DVD features on the He -Man sets and the

Shira sets, okay? He has always said, at the

time, he was all about family entertainment,

family animation, teaching lessons. That's why

these shows have PSAs, people, is because, well,

number one, they needed it at the time, but still,

you know, I remember him saying he wanted to

teach people stuff. Okay, then he allows some

moronic fool to write an episode entitled, The

Book Burning. Then writes the episode with everything

you mentioned earlier with actually burning of

the books to get rid of the books To do this

so the horde can now brainwash the children into

not reading the bad books the rebel no Absolutely,

not this is by far the single worst episode of

Shira ever If you don't include my number one,

I guess Yeah, I agree with you. I hate, I hate,

I hate this episode. I'm saying when it comes

to the whole basically ruination of education

to children, book burning takes the cake. My

number one worst episode of the entire series

is going a little bit of different directions.

The only one that I gave a zero out to actually,

all these other ones were 0 .5 or 1, but my least

favorite episode of all of them. Would be entitled

a lesson in love The rebels are all at the twig

at carnival just outside whispering woods Hordak

needs a spy. So shadow weaver puts a spell on

young Prince Kevin who has run away from home

First of all, it's got my name in there and that's

blasphemy. Yes, because we would have a carnival

in the middle of a fucking rebellion Okay, and

then why do we all of a sudden have a magic mirror

in this episode? Why does she have a magic mirror?

And magic mirror actually calls Madame Raz the

ugliest. Alright, so then Hordak forgets where

they were, then Madame Raz tells him, then he

tells Mantena to find out where they were when

she just told him. I don't know, that was lost

as, I don't know, sword to giant fucking magnet,

sword to battering ram, the writing in this was

terrible, Prince Kevin was terrible, the whole

idea of a carnival in... The rebellion is just

retarded. So a lesson of love was my only zero

of the year and for me, it's the worst episode

So Let's get into some best episodes. Let's turn

it positive because there were a lot of good

episodes as well If you were making the best

of DVD, these are the choices that you should

probably consider Mike. What is your number 10?

Okay to preface this before we get into the countdown

Did not include because it's an automatic five

all around for me. There are certain things about

secret of the sword, but That's not included

in this that is an autumn automatic We also didn't

we also didn't rate those episodes we didn't

go through there They weren't part of a regular

podcast so we didn't go through and give them

a five. Well, you know, right Well, you know,

we did we did kind of we did the commentary on

the movie version and then we did episode 46

or 47 which we talked about the differences between

the movie cut Basically what they cut and what

they left uncut so we never actually we the way

we rated secret of the sword was on a hole and

I believe And you'll correct me if I'm wrong.

I believe we both either gave it a four, four

and a half, or five. Yeah. So Secret of the Sword

is on its own. So number 10 for me, the Locket.

This is the one with Adora and Seahawk, and he

gives her this locket, and apparently he has...

It's kind of like, remember back in the 90s,

folks, when people would, like, when a boy would

give a girl a half of a yin -yang necklace and

he would have the other? That's exactly what

this episode is to me. It's that, but it's in

the 80s. So Seahawk has a locket, She -Ra has

a locket, and apparently every time she's in

trouble, or to Dora, I should say, every time

she's in trouble... His locket will glow and

he'll know. I just found this so hilarious. I

really wish they would have built up, and I know

this is not a cartoon for a love story, a cartoon

series for a love story, but I really wish they

would have built that up a little bit more between

the two of them. Yeah, I agree. I had this one

out of four out of five, so I thought it was

a good episode as well. My number 10? Let's go

to Horde Prime Takes a Holiday. Really? I thought

you hated the hand. I do but I like this episode

because it really was just he was taking a holiday.

So he wasn't involved This is the episode where

we got to see the the the four face off the big

four. We got to see oh, yeah Skeletor she rose

Skeletor and Hordak so it was also one, you know

an early on Kind of crossover. I guess episode.

This is also the multibot episode So we had Mantena

multibot Horde Hordak and Skeletor all involved

here We had the sorceress involved, but I just

like seeing the Hordak versus Skeletor and then

seen all of the big four face off. So that's

why without Horde Prime, while he was on his

holiday, allowed us to have a pretty good episode.

What's your number nine? Number nine would be

Assault on the Hive. This is the debut of the

Bee Chick. Yes. Sweet Bee. Sweet Bee, thank you.

One of the reasons why I like this is one of

the rare ones where we're actually in space part

of the time. I think that was interesting. I

wish they would have done more with that. I know

that She -Ra had been in space several times,

where I could, you know, you know, he was up

in the sky with his doom balloon, things like

that. And there were several times in space that

She -Ra had to take her helmet off and blah blah

blah, but this one was really fun because it

was introducing a new character that was trying

to come to Etheria as a refugee. you know, to

find a new home and all that. And I thought that

was really, really cool and interesting for them

to do. Yeah, I'll save my thoughts on that one.

For my number nine, I'll go very similar, though.

Let's go to Sweet Bee's home. This is the first

episode with Sweet Bee. This is when they're

looking for the new planet and when they get

shot down, et cetera. And then He -Man has to

come in. You know, some people might not like

the He -Man and Frost angle, but... I really

like the first introduction of Sweet B here and

that it's someone from outer space and the crash

down and all that type of stuff. So I really

like both episodes with Sweet B and Sweet B's

home was good enough for my number nine pick.

What's your number eight? Number eight, The Greatest

Magic. This was the season one finale. This was

the point where I believe Orko and Rez first

met and just absolutely really enjoyed it. Anytime

that Orko can come over to Etherea for maternity

is fine with me. Agreed. What? Nothing. You're

stealing my thunder for later on. All right.

My number eight is going to be of shadows and

skulls. Another crossover here. This is all about

Skeletor and Hordak. So this is the one where

Shadow Weaver is insulted by Hordak and seeks

an alliance with Skeletor. So she can rule a

theory by herself, but of course, Skeletor. Doesn't

try to have anything to do with that So I just

a lot more fun here with the the Hordak and the

Skeletor moments and we actually got to see Skeletor

beats Hordak in the end in this one. So He's

funny. He's sitting on Hordak's throne You got

imp in there for some extra, you know humor and

stuff like that So I was a big fan of Skeletor

and Shadow Weaver in this one. So shadows and

skulls is my number eight What's your number

seven That would be the Number seven the Crystal

Castle Okay, this is just one of those ones where

it was really really fun to watch it was fun

and interesting to see What was going on with

the Crystal Castle meeting? Well, we already

met Light hope but It was just one of those ones

where it was really super fun and interesting

and setting it around the Crystal Castle. It

was really, really well done. I think it was

written very well. And this is also the one that

they had to team up with the King of the Trolls.

Right. There's a good character too Yeah, yeah,

I had this one as a four out of five as well.

So I'm in agreement there for my number seven.

I'm gonna go to Looky lens a hand. So yeah, this

one was surprising. I You even like this one

and I couldn't believe that but obviously Luki's

appearance in an episode where everybody else

is basically frozen and then he has to come and

he has to try to get He -Man's help as well.

So I guess another crossover episode where Luki

goes and finds He -Man and gets him to help out

on this. We have Mantena, we have Frosta in this

episode which was fun. A lot of people getting

frozen and different things. So it's just kind

of an interesting like how is this all gonna

work? Cringer's in here, Orko's in here, so.

I like looky lens a hand a lot, so it's high

enough for me to be at my number seven. Number

six for you. My friend, my enemy. Another Skeletor

Hordak. Am I stealing your thunder here? No,

no, no. This is one of our biggest disagreements.

It was an honorable mention for my worst episodes.

Really? Yeah. Yeah, this is this is this just

missed out on one of my worst episode picks.

Oh, I know why this is the shedding tears thing.

Yeah, well I Just the irony of it all But it's

I mean, it's Skeletor coming back and you know,

he makes Hordak disappear Supposedly forever,

but they could have just left him into another

dimension. They wasn't killing him They could

have just let him fade into another dimension

I don't know. That's true, but still, it's a

Skeletor episode and it's absolutely hilarious

to me. Yes, I do agree with you when it comes

to shedding tears and all that, but still, it's

Skeletor. It's probably one of the episodes that

we disagreed on the most. So, interesting though.

I'm not surprised to see it come up on your list,

because I knew that you rated that one pretty

heavy. Alright, for my number six, I'm going

to go to King Miro's Journey. Early on in the

series, maybe elevated my thoughts for this year's

series and never quite got back up to that level

almost, but King Miro's Journey was a lot of

fun. Adam takes his grandfather King Miro to

Aetheria to meet Adora. It was just, I mean...

Did have inspector dark knee which I didn't necessarily

care for both times he showed up but the Hall

of Kings the Eternia lineage We got some of that

we got a he man I think this is one of the first

times that we see he man in there This also was

an episode that I wish they would have gone more

with where they showed the horde troopers with

actually some self -awareness and some intelligence

and then also it was one of the First times we

see that She -Ra can talk to the animals and

kind of has that sense of it as well. There's

connection to past episodes with Devlin. There's

good ideas as far as trying to dome them in.

They had the dual transformation with He -Ra,

He -Man and She -Ra. I don't know what was not

to like about King Miro's journey. It was easily

one of my favorite episodes of the series. Absolutely.

What do you got next? Number five, She -Ra makes

a promise. Yeah, I had this as an honorable mention.

Yeah, this is the one where she basically promises

Hordak she will not escape. But then, you know,

she figures, okay, how am I going to get out

of here without actually escaping Hordak? And

she somehow telepathically, across the universe,

through Nick and Nora's infinite playlist, she

reaches He -Man and he walks through a portal

in Grayskull and comes and rescues her. uh...

i'd just think this is a really cool one where

she you know she made a promise or i can she

was going to keep it until she realized that

were that was in the keep his promise so i should

keep her so again the whole double entendre double

double -edged sword thing but i did really enjoy

this episode Yeah, if we were doing a top 15,

it would have made mine. So I'm in agreement

there as well. My number five has already been

talked about. Apparently, I'm a fan of the series

of episodes. Kind of some continuity here. I

already had Sweet Bee's home at number nine.

I'll go Assault on the Hive with number five.

I loved this episode. Assault on the Hive was

a lot of fun because number one, it had all the

connections to Sweet Bee's home, which was part

of the win. But then we also got Skeletor involved.

And I like the idea that he is now attacking

the spacecraft carrying Sweet Bee. Man, there's

just a lot of fun with this episode. I'm a huge

Skeletor fan, obviously. And the idea that he

wants to conquer Horde Prime, we get Trapjowl,

we get Beastman, we get Natassa again. Cringer

getting spared from the transformation. I just

love how well Assault on the Hive coincided with

Sweet Bees Home and how well those two episodes

work together. So I was a big fan of those. It's,

number one, number five. So I love Assault on

the Hive. What do you got, number four? Absolutely.

You already mentioned it, King Miro's Journey.

Again, I love the continuity of the grandfather

now. So we've gotten stories with their parents.

Now we're getting stories with the grandparents.

Absolutely loved everything in this episode.

It was just a really, really nice episode. And

what I loved about this is that no one... even

though throughout the entire series no one really

ever mentions king miro like i mean we've we

we've had mentions of certain family members

and things in the past but no one really ever

like continuity wise because again no real real

true continuity from episode to episode here

What I liked about it was that no one really

forgot him like oh you're you know They may have

had you know He may have had to say his name

to one of the guards or something, but the guard

is like oh, yeah Where you been you know something

like that? I just absolutely love it and everything

you had already said about it was I'm in agreement

with that so Excellent number four was King Miro's

journey for me You know, you had one that I didn't

agree with earlier with my friend, my enemy.

I might have one that you disagree with here,

but it's all the way up at mine number four,

and that would be the episode entitled, Hantara.

One of my favorite side characters where Hordak

convinces Hantara, a strong warrioress, that

she is evil and therefore she goes to face her.

We got a lot of characters from the Horde all

together. We had Catra, Shadow Weaver, Scorpion

Imp, Leech Grizzler, all in here together. I

just like the idea that Hordak kind of enlisted

help from another planet kind of like an assassin

or something like that. We got to see some interesting

things. Glimmer's butterfly vehicle was in this.

We had Scorpia and Catra teaming up. I just like

this. There was cool final shots. There was cool

animation in this. And like I said, I'm just

a big fan of Hantara as a character. So yeah,

Hantara is my number four. What about you? Number

three. Number three for me is the talent for

trouble. And guess who's in this episode, folks?

That's right, Orko! Because he and Madame Raz

get captured by the Horde, and then he managed

to save them. Again, as I said earlier, I knew

going into this that Madame Raz was kind of like

the Aetherian version of Orko, that they weren't

going to bring Orko over to Aetheria. At least

as a main character. But I just love it when

he shows up on Aetheria, because it's a whole

different world for him, it's a whole different

world for us. You know, as far as I can tell,

again, I'd have to go back and watch, which I'm

probably not gonna do since we've been watching

this crap the last five years. It seems to me

that when Orko comes to Etherea, his magic works

a little bit better than obviously what it does

on Eternia, because as we all know, in He -Man,

it was stated that, you know, he's from Traala.

On Traala, his magic works. On Eternia, it doesn't

do so well. But him and Madame Raz teaming up

to fight the Horde and having He -Man and She

-Recommend, just absolutely love that. Yeah,

I had that one in a four out of five as well,

but my superior orc -o episode, for me at least,

was The Greatest Magic, so that's what's going

to be my number three. We're going to stick with

orc -o, but this is the one where we go get someone

back to trial. We have Dr. Zub and Blim the High

Muk Muk and the Big Ugo and Fusibela the Mukus.

And Uncle Montork is in this, Driel is in this.

So this was the whole thing in Trala. So I liked

The Greatest Magic a little bit more than the

one you just mentioned, but both good episodes,

both very good episodes. Every time I got Orko

involved, it was fun. And this one, it was another

episode where you just got to have some fun and

reconnect with some other stuff. There was a

good villain in this. Just a fun episode all

the way around. So The Greatest Magic, for me,

is the third best episode of She -Ra. Mm -hmm.

Top two? Flowers for Hordak at number two. Okay.

The only reason why it's at number two is because

this is the one where, who's the, is it, it's

not Perfuma, is it? Does the flowers? I don't.

Whoever the flower chick is I don't remember

off the top of my head But she comes into the

fright zone and makes it all pretty and flowery

and this just puts hordak in a really really

bad mood Yeah, and I just love seeing Yeah, it

is perfuma Because he captured her right I just

love seeing Him react so negatively about flowers

of all things. I think it's just absolutely hilarious

Yeah, I hit this one out of four as well, so

another one I'm in agreement with. It was a good

episode. A lot of fun there. I wasn't expecting

to like that one as much as I did. For my number

two, I'm going to go to an episode entitled,

A Loss for Words. Dora and Bo go to a village

and try to convince potential rebels to join

them in the fight for freedom. However, Hordak

gets word of this and sends Shadow Weaver to

magically steal their voices and capture Adora.

So it's like the Little Mermaid where we get

the voice stolen. So, I don't know, Mantana had

some funny moments in this. I like the idea of

the stealing of the voice. Legit use of strength

and sword to crack the earth instead of this

physical nonsense that we usually see. And it

also gave us an interesting predicament where

Adora with no voice can't turn into She -Ra.

So so that made it interesting as well Shadow

Weaver had some good moments in this imps going

back and forth with Shadow Weaver off and on

which led to a lot of funny aspects Hordak is

referencing Skeletor and how you know what he

hated about Skeletor and I just it gives us some

Some backstory too for Shadow Weaver that Horde

gave Shadow Weaver her powers and that she was

from Mystic or So that was fun. I just like this

episode Quite a bit. There was a lot of humor.

There was some interesting mystery moments with

how Shiro was going to solve, or Adora was going

to solve trying to be Shiro. So I like the loss

for words quite a bit. What's your number one?

Number one. That's got to be... You got a lot

of fives left. Shades of Orko. Shades of Orko

is the one where... Shadow weaver steals his

shadow because she actually lives up to her name

in this episode. She actually Weaves the shadow

off of him And the reason why this is my number

one is because we finally get a little bit more

of an origin story for or to go I mean, yeah,

we we know he's from trial. We know he has Uncle

Montork. He has Driel. He has yuck and You go

whatever his cousin's name is or whatever, you

know But this one we get an origin for his power

his magic and his magic comes from his shadow

And the reason why I enjoyed this so much is

it's pretty much a Peter Pan episode because

He and his shadow go off and obviously they're

not together They have to find each other because

shadow we ever stole the shadow when they do

find each other You've got orko doing one thing

in the shadow doing another thing That's what

I mean when I say it's a kind of a Peter Pan

thing and just absolutely Loved every minute

of this episode. Yeah, I think that's a good

one. I mean shades of orko for me was Was something

that I enjoyed I liked the I even gave orca shadow

I believe a a protection sword So I enjoyed this

one too another four for me. So you're not missing

my opinions too much on this one at all my number

one Probably the most dramatic moment of the

series for me, even though it doesn't include

anybody from the rebellion or from the Horde

But I just like the way that they directed this

episode very much. So and it's gonna be return

of the general the evil Horde attacks Brightmoon

and takes its farm families prisoners and Former

General Sunder now farmer Sunder takes up his

armor once again and Get some help from Shira,

but there's that moment when he returns home

and just the way the sunlight effect and the

timing of it and everything, it was super good

drama. They also gave a lot of good action. There's

actual battle with Hordak ships and they look

great. Shiro with no mask on, General Sunder

returning so you had some continuity there. I

love the writing and the directing of this episode.

I think it would hold up on its own by just,

you know, if you had the other episode to introduce

General Sunder, and then you followed it up with

this one, kind of the same way we had the Two

Sweet Me moments, I guess I'm a sucker for those

episodes that kind of connect to some other episodes,

and I really liked Return of the General quite

a bit. It's my number one. So those are our best

and worst episodes of the She -Ra series. A lot

of good stuff out there, a lot of bad stuff.

So let's take a final break and come back and

see which one of us liked She -Ra more and how

much we agreed and or disagreed. Coming up next.

Master Hordak, false face calling. I have Queen

Angela's Moonstone. Bright Moon's defenses are

down. Excellent! My robot army will attack immediately!

We have no defenses! Hordak hasn't wasted any

time, but we're not helpless yet. I'll handle

the defenses and you try to find Glimmer. Well

Princess Glimmer, meet the real Prince Highcliff.

By the time you get to know each other, Brightmoon

will be in our control. Take three. Who knows

what Skeletor will do to Adora if he sees all

your soldiers coming? Listen to them, King Randor.

He -Man! I had a funny feeling he might show

up. All right, it's the moment of truth. Where

did our crystal castles end up? So we already

talked about our horde bats and our protection

swords, but we have also been reading every episode.

based on these Crystal Castle episodes that helped

us create our top 10 and our bottom 10. But how

did it work overall for this series in total?

Some people maybe through feedback saying that

you might be a little bit more negative on She

-Ra. They think you might be burned out on filmation.

By the time we got through all this, we'll have

to see how that worked out or not. But remember,

you gave 120 protection swords compared to your

80 horde bats. So maybe you were more positive.

What do you think, Mike? Who rated this series

better, you or me? I don't know. Let's just find

out. All right, so series total ranking your

average out of five crystal castles for this

series is 2 .68 2 .68 for Mike for reference

purposes if we were to look back at He -Man you

gave the series of He -Man 2 .95 So 2 .95 for

He -Man 2 .68 for She -Ra. So I don't know why

we're reviewing these shows because apparently

you don't like them. No, I'm just kidding. For

my He -Man rankings, I gave He -Man 3 .37. So

I was a little bit higher on He -Man than you.

For this one, the gap, I don't know, not quite

as high for me, but I was at 3 .05 for She -Ra.

So you were at 2 .68, I was at 3 .05. There was...

14 episodes that we rated the same So 14 times

the world ended out of the remaining episodes

so that would be 60 74 episodes or so Because

I'm not counting the first five parter right

right 47 of those I had the higher ranking 27

of those you had the higher ranking so for what

that's worth, how about Breaking it down by season

all right season one i was at 3 .18 season two

i dropped down to 2 .78 season one you were at

2 .86 season two you dropped down to 2 .30 one

last one here crossover episodes my rating my

rating on all the crossover episodes 3 .86 your

crossover rating 4 .1 So apparently when she

was at its best is when it was crossing over

and tying itself to he man, right? So Interesting

there, you know Especially like the the ones

that we were talking about in our tops and in

our bottoms for the most part we lined up I think

there was only like two episodes that we were

drastically different you didn't like hantara

and I didn't like you know my enemy my or my

friend my enemy but Other than that we were pretty

close in lockstep. Well, usually when it was

something that where I rated it better or you

rated it better we're talking about like a Three

to a two or you know a two and a half to a three

or something like that It wasn't a big margin.

There was really only I went through and selected

like the ones that we had major differences in

and what I talked about major differences I mean

like two and a half points or more Right, which

is which is you know much more than just a half

point difference or something like that? We had

one two three four five six seven eight nine

ten eleven twelve We only differed on twelve

episodes more than two and a half points so that's

pretty much in line even though we do disagree

a lot on different things, but What do you think

it's hearing that number two point six eight

overall for you three point zero five I would

say neither one of those is it is a great number

But it it just goes to show you that While everybody

including us as a child may have loved these

series He man and she were both for different

reasons Going back to it and look I'm the biggest

kid in the world even though I'll you know I'm

37 years old But it's just you know if I go back

to certain things and I have nostalgia about

certain things That's fine if we were just doing

secret of the sword We've already said it would

be a five for both of us, regardless of whatever.

I mean, Secret of the Sword, all of the good

in that five -parter, all of the good in that

movie outweighs any little nitpicks we could

ever pick out of it. And it's just one of those

things where going back and looking through these

shows again, because we said at the very beginning

in episode 46, we, for the most part, had not

really seen all of this show in nearly 30 years.

And I had said that I had seen several episodes

here and there. Sometimes I kept seeing the same

episode when it would air on a certain TV channel,

the Cubo TV channel I had at the time. But our

whole point here is we were not gonna go back

and re -watch these until we were going to do

the podcast for them. And we did that this time.

Don't get me wrong, though. I'm glad we did because

there's a lot that I, you know, refresh my memory

and trip down memory lane nostalgia, et cetera,

et cetera. But I think what it did, what it showed

me overall, I mean, number one, it showed me

that I like He -Man a little bit better than

She -Ra, and I wasn't sure that was gonna be

the case. Number two, I think what it shows about

these two series is that they're better off served

if you just watch, like, the best 15 to 20 episodes.

You don't need to watch every episode. You don't

need to watch 130 episodes or 93 episodes to

see everything You you know get get the good

ones the ones that are rated the highest You

know the top 15 20 watch those you'll get a good

feel for the series You'll see all the characters

that you need to see and that's all that's how

these series are best served I think I am scared

though if we only rated, you know He man, you

know right around the three, you know, like I

said, it was a 2 .95 which is basically three

for you and 3 .3 for me and now on Shiro we're

down to 2 .7 basically and 3. What's New Adventures

gonna rate at? That's what I was scared of. You

guys will have to tune in this summer to find

out because this summer is gonna be the summer

of the New Adventures of He -Man here on Powers

of Grayskull. We're gonna spend the next few

months here pre -producing all these episodes

but episodes are gonna start airing again somewhere

the end of may beginning of june after this one

is released in january uh... but yeah i don't

know what new adventures is going to bring i

have i'm afraid and you know i think and again

we've mentioned this where Had seen this as a

10 year old in 1990 you had not seen this you

had not even I'm sure you knew about it, but

you never actively sought it out to watch it

So what's gonna be interesting here is me going

back and being the jaded child I probably am

half the time and then you having pretty much

a fresh opinion on it because you would never

seen it you have and Honestly, I barely remember

new adventures. I remember Like the very first

episode. And as I've already said, in preparation

for, for the entirety of the powers of grace

goal series podcast, I had already gone ahead

and grabbed out. some of the interested like

you know real adventures will be back after this

ball and the themes and stuff so i i i already

know about that and whatever else i already have

one already have those files and which i do now

but yeah i have no idea what new adventures is

gonna bring uh... i have a feeling at the end

of the adventures we have a highlight reel of

me ranting uh... if you like it when i go off

on episodes that might be a a good set of episodes

of tonight it's only going to be twenty five

episodes so twenty five podcast episodes Yep,

absolutely. So each time we do one we're going

down by ten So we had 45 with human we had 35

with Shira now we're gonna have 25 for the new

adventures Yeah Be interesting. I'm scared though.

Yeah We're all scared Because I'm pretty sure

once we start releasing those episodes the rabid

fanboys that love that series I don't know they

don't exist. I'm pretty sure There's no chance

that they exist if they exist I'm ready for their

feedback because I don't think they exist So

should be fun hopefully you guys continue to

tune in even though we're done with filmation

So there's more he -man to come whether it's

bad or good, which it will be later on There's

still a lot more he -man stuff to talk about

Absolutely. We did get a modified iTunes review

from, I think it was Joe Adia. I could be wrong.

I don't know if my iTunes is open right now,

but he did modify it and said that the only reason

why he still listens to the show is because you're

more positive than I am and that I'm very negative

about it. We do need to get this guy's name because

he's my new best friend. Best friend. I liked

it. I like the iTunes review. Keep them coming,

guys, especially if you're going to tell me that

I'm better than Mike. I like it. I try to be

as upbeat as possible. He's a grumpy old man

though guys. He's a grumpy old man. He's not

going to change his stripes. Shut the hell up.

We're done with filmation though, so maybe he'll

bounce back. You never know. And like I said,

I have not actively watched an episode of New

Adventures in at least 25 years or so. And we

know you don't remember yesterday, so you definitely

don't remember 25 years ago, so. Yeah, pretty

much. Well, 25 years ago, let's see, Batman the

Animated Series, Melrose Place, X -Men. The end

of The Cosby Show was 25 years ago at this point,

but anyway. I think that's going to do it for

us folks. Thank you for listening to the myths
