About this Episode

This episode covers an obsessive fan trading their car for Rick and Morty sauce, ongoing continuity issues with Star Trek: Discovery, and Sony's plans for a Settlers of Catan movie. There is also a discussion on Fandango's acquisition of MovieTickets.com, the Justice League Big Bang Theory sweepstakes, and the launch of Steve Wozniak's WozU. Finally, the episode reflects on 25 years of Mortal Kombat and memories of older home media technology.

You're tuned in to Steve Megatron on Altered

thank you for tuning in and you can get - Interactive

with the show by tweeting at SCP 21 which is

my Twitter handle or at altered geek also you

can get noticed a little bit easier with using

the hashtag what's geeky to you and Let me know

what's geeky to you this week that way we can

kind of converse about it together Makes it a

little bit easier than doing an email Although

if you want to do that or feedback on the website

or the Facebook page, that's welcome as well

so Getting into this week, I've noticed some

kind of loopy, crazy things that are floating

about, but before we get into that, I'd like

to thank the sponsor of the show, Gamefly .com.

You can sign up today for a premium free 30 -day

trial with one game out at a time, they also

have DVDs, by going GameflyOffer .com slash AlterGeek.

So... Sorry for blowing out your eardrums there.

Just it's a little fun to record often Because

I haven't been doing this as much in the last

few years and now that I'm back at it It's kind

of addictive. So I I really have a lot of fun

sitting here and kind of looking at the goofiness

online That aside There was something kind of

Dumb and this is where I think that fandoms get

a little obsessive It's one thing to own a bunch

of the toys or the comics or posters or just

a memorabilia itself But when you're going bananas

over food products That are geek themed such

as like Ghostbusters Ecto cooler which is just

High C with green like it's it's just high C

like it's not worth that More than what I would

pay in the store for it That would be like me

going and buying a coca -cola and Trading my

car for it. Oh, yeah, something like that did

happen Rick and Morty fans. This was in time

.com time magazine I have no idea how to promote

from Pronounce this word but a zealous Rick and

Morty fan traded his car Yes, you read that right

or heard that right his car for the precious

pack of McDonald's Swanson's Schwan's on sauce.

I have no idea how that is even pronounced it's

It's like a Mulan type thing Rick and Morty is

this animated series on Adult Swim That some

people watch I think the animation is terrible

But that's just I like kind of polished animation.

I don't like gritty or choppy looking animation

anyways It was available for one day at the time

which McDonald's is going to come out with it

again and more of a wide variety the interesting

thing was It's because this show has such a cult

following This moron traded his car for a single

packet of this sauce. Now mind you, it's just

teriyaki dipping sauce with this special name.

I'm sorry, but food does not equal car in no

universe. So anyways, Rick and Morty fan. nabbed

one of the limited edition sauces and proceeded

posted on pin nation a Facebook group where fandoms

and festivals goers can trade pins and souvenirs

and There was a large response this person says

with some nice pins, but If I could get a car

I thought why not ask a fellow Rick and Morty

fan apparently thought that his precious sauce

was worth a Car and offered up his 2000s Volkswagen

gold mk4, which I have no idea what that is I

barely know what Volkswagen. Okay, it's like

it's basically like a sedan with a hatchback

and it's basically like a golf cart and essentially

like a station wagon and He He went and actually

traded this car to this 23 year old graphic designer

from Michigan which is just mind -boggling. And

it says that the fan who did not give permission

for his name to be used said that they could

not find and did not exchange the car's title.

So they can't claim whether it happened or not.

People that are trading or even thinking about

doing this for sauce you're a moron. I'm sorry.

There's there's just The fact I've spent four

minutes talking about somebody trading a car

for for sauce at McDonald's is mind -boggling

I Just I don't understand people Yeah, 20 cent

sauce that paid maybe a dollar for and traded

Car that you could have got at least $500 for

and it looked like a $2 ,000 car Having worked

at a car lot. That's that's my impression of

it. I I Don't understand people. I really don't

So The other things that are kind of floating

about I'm having fun watching people going back

and forth on Star Trek discovery mind you I am

I'm a fan of it as a Star Trek fan. As a continuity

Star Trek fan, it irritates me and you'll, if

you want to hear all of my thoughts on Discovery,

go listen to Future Imperfect. But, the gist

of what I'm gonna say here is most of what the

episode is. I talk about the latest episodes

in it and then I talk about the timeline issues

presented within those episodes as well. And

I still don't see how this ties into the prime

continuity. I don't see it as Kelvin at this

point. It doesn't necessarily fit with the Kelvin

timeline because I've also examined the Klingons

and they look totally different. But it's still

enough of a deviation from the original timeline.

90 % of its way is that it's got to be like a

new track reboot and they're just trying to package

it as Hard as they can that it's prime universe

and it there's nothing in it that fits unless

they're gonna send some massive gaseous Thing

to infect the entire Klingon race to make them

look like they did in Enterprise and in the original

series in next generation There's that's my main

My main anchor point although the technology

is most of it as well And the show's getting

like super creepy in certain aspects so it like

I said it's good just you have to If you're gonna

watch it put aside the the timeline because if

you don't it's gonna piss you off So yeah, we

concluded the GCR and wars I'm happy with the

results although surprised It is leading into

the top 100 villains. I keep wanting to say 90s

villains because we just did the Warriors tournament

on it. And then, yeah, we're going to have some

regular content. I'm going to fix the show schedule

because it's so fubarred at this point. And yeah,

so we're going to have a lot of new content coming

to GeekCast Radio. well as this podcast and others

on the network and Yeah, it's it's it's been

kind of fun. I've also been releasing weekly

Transformers podcasts on all things transformers,

which I've been covering the the newest series

And we're gonna also be relaunching the beast

unleashed through all things transformers with

Conversations on Beast Wars 2 and Nioh So stay

tuned for that So I think I'm gonna take a quick

break come back with some other interesting news

that that's kind of popped up throughout the

throughout the week and Yeah, so be back after

this quick break And we're back so Getting into

some Kind of TV commercial here somebody brought

to my attention. You know how Geico comes out

with these these goofy commercials periodically

I totally missed this I don't even know when

it came out because I don't have cable But Geico

had a he man verse Skeletor commercial Which

was kind of funny and and they pawned it off

you know, had the original animation style, had

sound -alikes for the characters, if not the

original actors, and the TV spot was them capturing

Skeletor, and he says, you know, save so much

by switching to Geico, and then they're all sitting

there conversing, and then he gets away with

his jet pack, and it was just, it was stupid.

I mean, like most Geico commercials, but it was

still funny. It's just interesting to me when

I see old properties come back and they use it

as a marketing gimmick But yeah into into some

of the movies Fandango I Am not surprised, but

I'm kind of surprised Fandango is acquiring their

rival online ticket or movie tickets comm Which

if you go to the theaters chances are you've

seen either one of them kind of competing against

each other consistently, and you're pretty familiar

with them at this point, but yeah, it's kind

of funny that Fandango is, you're seeing a lot

of different acquisitions by other companies

at this point, and it's probably because of the

politics of the nation, but it's also because

it's just good business at this point, so. Companies

going belly -up might as well swallow up the

competition So yeah, they've Decided to close

this deal before the year end and that will expand

its international footprint. I Don't know has

anybody actually used Fandango or movie tickets

calm I personally have never used an online ticket

marketer not that I wouldn't and I've promoted

some of them on the show before because they

if I don't see them as a bad idea at all. I just

I've never actually used them and I'm just curious

if anybody's tried them and how well they work.

I know that movie tickets calm has partnerships

with national amusements, which They used to

be kind of like the local thing around here at

least in Michigan, I don't know what they've

all been elsewhere, but I mean, there's usually

a rival company too, but National Amusements

had the Showcase Cinemas Theaters in Michigan,

for instance, and we had different ones, and

they got bought out by Rave Motion Pictures,

which got bought out by Cinemark. But I think

it's still National Amusements, so I have no

idea. Anyways, National Amusement, Cineplex,

Landmark Theaters, Marquis Cinemas, and several

independent theater chains, which is probably

like NCG, Movies, or stuff like that. Which expands

Fandango's network because they didn't have those

before. Because they already had partnerships

with over 80 % of the US theater chains and online

ticketing capabilities. So, why not add some

more? So that just means it's better for the

customer. So they're gonna rebrand the company

to They've got Fandango Now, which is a service

that offers thousands of movies and TV shows

to rent or purchase. So that's totally a different

situation, but that has to do with DreamWorks.

But I think it's kind of interesting. I've been

curious about using these services before, but

I've never... found the need to. That's the problem

too. I can't buy a movie ticket because I never

know if I'm going to have to cancel my plans

because when you have small children it's not

exactly a cemented thing that you'll get to actually

go see the movie at a certain time. I usually

don't buy movie tickets for that reason knowing

that I'm going to have to maybe reschedule. Only

go when I know I'm gonna be able to go. And I

never go on opening weekend, although I used

to with Booth Ninja because we would go the opening

night and it was more fun to go with friends

and being that none of my friends live around

here. I... Just don't go to movies all that often.

So I go with my brother typically and we usually

go about a week or two after a movie comes out

so that the lines are short and Everybody's on

the newest film and I can go sit comfortably

wherever I want in the theater to see the film

that came out Which is what I'm going to be doing

with Star Wars episode 8 so we'll probably end

up seeing that somewhere between Christmas and

New Year's and I can't wait to see it. So aside

from that so are you guys a fan of board game

movies I'm generally not and that's because they're

usually just terrible video game movies are bad

enough when you get to board game movies they're

just bad so Sony has been working to acquire

the rights for a movie on Settlers of Catan,

which if you're not familiar with it, it's a

board game, kind of like a Euro board game where

you're on a fictional island of Catan, players

compete to become the dominant community. Surviving

requires clever use of land's resources and outsmarting

neighboring communities. So the game came out

in 95 as a strategy board game and it's it's

quickly grown to more than 22 million versions

sold worldwide and translated into 38 different

languages So it's it's You know, I don't know

how it could be good so It literally is just

like these these Hexagon squares that fit together

and then you have like a certain number and then

you build houses and then settlements and then

roads and then Yeah, you just trade resource

or you pick up resources depending on where you

land So I don't see how this is gonna be a good

movie But I guess we'll just kind of have to

wait and see but they're trying to fast -track

the project toward production in the effort to

launch a Settlers of Catan as a possible franchise

Do any of these companies like have any clue

what they're doing anymore because like I honestly

don't think they do I think they're trying to

create tent poles from things and It's just bombing

on them. I mean look at Universal trying to do

the movie universe of the of the monsters and

then look at Paramount, they're fizzling out

with their Transformers and with their Star Trek

movies and then Marvel Disney is the only thing

doing halfway decent because they have Lucasfilm

and Marvel and that's really their major tent

poles until those fade away too. And Warner Brothers,

all it's really got is the DC stuff now. I mean,

there's really nothing of value. for tent poles

for for franchises, so I I don't know I'm kind

of I'm kind of confused and Sony really doesn't

have squat anyway like they're trying to make

stuff out of villains of spider -man and I Just

I don't know. I don't see that turning out all

that great either They haven't had the best of

luck even can commandeering spider -man properly

you think that they can do a villain Yeah, I

don't have much faith so Yeah, as much as I like

this game and I actually own it I don't think

that this is gonna be a good movie, but I guess

I I mean I hope that I'm wrong, but I don't think

it's gonna be like Clue or It's gonna be more

like a battleship. I Really don't see it being

good so And then there's Andy circus who's This

there's there's literally articles about any

of these Star Wars things like there are these

big rumors and spoilers and it's really just

a dude saying, I know the backstory of Snoke.

And he's saying that we won't find out who exactly

Snoke is in The Last Jedi, but it'll be in possibly

the third film of the trilogy. I think it's hilarious

that they just keep leaving this stuff in shrouded

darkness and not revealing anything, and then

they're like, oh yeah, they're not gonna, no,

you're just not gonna know anything. But I know

it, you know, that kind of stuff just kind of

bothers me. And then you get the Big Bang Theory,

which is, I guess having a contest? Or... I don't

know what came about this, but I guess there

was a Justice League contest and the Big Bang

Theory stuff with the Green Lantern logo featured

in it. So we get the Justice League Superman,

Batman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Aquaman, The Flash,

and Green Lantern. despite the fact that Green

Lantern won't have a role in the film or at least

a prominent role and I guess somebody found out

that there was a sequence at the start of Wonder

Woman featuring the Green Lantern and I'm not

exactly sure what they're doing but the newest

tease apparently is coming from an official Justice

League branded geek stakes being put on by Big

Bang Theory which the contest includes an opportunity

to win $500 a day, a hometown screening of Justice

League for 100 Friends, and a trip for two to

the Justice League premiere. After participating

in the contest, fans are taken to a spin the

wheel to unlock a Justice League -themed clip

from old episodes of Big Bang Theory, and that's

where things get interesting because while the

rest of the contest material only includes the

five members that have been a part of the marketing

so far, The spin wheel adds a Superman logo and

Green Lantern logo to Knight, all seven members

of the League to coincide with the seven cast

members of Big Bang Theory. And they aren't wearing

costumes to match the logos, but it's still,

yeah. So anyways, they have this thing on, and

the only thing that adds legitimacy is the fact

that Warner Bros. owns Big Bang Theory, so maybe

they're teasing something, who knows? But, yeah,

I... It's it's interesting. I don't know how

much weight should be put on this because as

fans were quick to jump on bandwagons of anything

as long as we agree with it So I don't know exactly

what what we should be thinking, but that's that's

kind of what's happened so I think that I think

I'm gonna move over to video games because Let's

face it, video games are fun, and I have some

good and some stuff to complain about, so we're

gonna move over there. It's the Big Bang Justice

League Geek Stakes. All this week, watch The

Big Bang Theory. You could win $500 a day, a

hometown screening for you and 100 friends, or

a trip for two to the world premiere screening

of Justice League. He said the age of heroes

would never come again. It has to. Watch for

the superhero of the day. Text it to 34490 or

go to bigbangweeknights .com to enter. It's the

Big Bang Justice League Geek Stakes. And we're

back. So... Battlefield 1. Yeah, I know I've

been keeping up with this game. I haven't played

it lately, but they just came out with the Turning

Tides DLC maps and weapons or launching soon

on the CTE. And so they're having the Cape Hills

and Achi Baba maps, which are included. They're

also going to have Storming the World 1 -1 Beaches

in the Turning Tides DLC and the return of Conquest

Assault. So, yeah, we're going to have some...

some interesting stuff coming down the pipe from

Battlefield for sure and I'm gonna have to jump

back into the game to actually try and play it

because it's going back to again the Great War

and So you're gonna have some battles in the

North Sea This is the third expansion and we'll

bring these four new maps and the six new weapons

and an infiltrator or elite class L class destroyer

C class airship and a new epic operation and

more. In the new game mode of Conquest Assault,

a twist on the signature Conquest mode, attackers

and defenders fight over key areas exclusively

controlled by the defending team as the match

starts. Sounds interesting. I'll keep an eye

out for it for sure. I'm not really sure what's

gonna kinda go on with that. But it's it's definitely

intriguing as for Star Trek online This stupid

game has been down Since pretty much they they

launched season 14 and It's unfortunate because

I'm a little irritated with it. I would think

I'd be more irritated with it if I didn't Watch

how much money people have dumped into this and

partially myself included or time And I think

a lot of where the frustration is coming from

is the fact that they went down for a scheduled

maintenance and then there was pretty much one

whole week they had maintenance all day every

day for five days because there were glitches

and problems left and right and The other thing,

I never understood why they don't do it in like

the AM, early AM hours and then just have it

functional again by the time people are off work.

And I'm a little, like I said, peeved with it.

I like the game. It's just, it's frustrating

when you're trying to get into this stupid thing

and it doesn't want to work. And they went down

for another maintenance. to fix other issues

and their ARK platform is down for extended maintenance

making network improvements so they say most

of their problems of their games and a lot of

the stuff has just been disastrous to say the

least of how it has not wanted to work at all

and I'm a little just I can't even put into words

how irritating it is and they're their arc systems

down so you can't play and then the Parts of

the game are glitchy I hope that by the end of

this they give us something because like they've

had weekend events or they've had like weekday

events of stuff going on and You can't complete

any of it because majority of the time the game's

down Which is sad. I mean the game's been out

since 2010 and it's 2017 and people are still

playing it seven years later And I like the story

and I like the missions the it's just there's

a lot of downtime and a lot of glitches with

it So it kind of makes it hard to want to invest

Energy and time into this game when it's it's

constantly a sinking ship lately And I hate saying

that because like I said, I enjoy it, but they've

been having problems the last two weeks on this

game Since it came out with season 14 and it's

just Like yesterday they came out with the arena

of Sompac returning and I mean granted for console

but it's All the all the stuff's down so and

they've got a new ship bundle they've got new

like maintenance stuff just constantly going

on I'm not even I'm not even sure what to think

like they've been down for days like this is

early in the week I'm gonna move over to a nicer

Steve Wozniak announced his own tech education

platform called WozU which is an online Starting

learning platform focused on both students and

companies that will eventually hire those students

Was you was based out of Arizona in hopes to

launch physical locations for learning in more

than 30 cities across the globe They're saying

at launch the curriculum will center around computer

support specialists and software developers with

courses on data science mobile apps and cybersecurity

coming in the future He's hoping to offer platforms

for tech companies to recruit train and retain

their workforce through on -site customized programs

and subscription -based curricula. There will

be a platform as well for K -12 students, which

will be distributed to school districts that

will offer STEAM programs to identify talent

and nudge those individuals into a tech -based

career. It's actually kind of smart, because

I doubt that there's anything like it right now.

Because say what you will of ITT Tech, it's not

exactly... an accredited thing. Plus, the one

local to my area got in trouble for embezzlement.

So, it's kind of funny in that regard. I mean,

not funny that they screwed students, but it's

funny that they're basically closed. So, I kind

of want to do a little bit of tech history. Does

anyone remember the catchphrase, finish him,

Mortal Kombat? Yes. In 1992, it's hard to believe

it was that long ago, and just looking at a screenshot

of it, it just looks terrible compared to what

came later, but it was released into the arcade

systems and was obviously one of the most popular

fighting game series in history, and it was mostly

well known for its graphic display, blood and

deadly finishing moves known as Fatalities. Fatality.

Finish him. Which, if you played Unreal Tournament

in any capacity, they all have those same catchphrases

in them, to some degree. For instance, when you're

a sniper and it goes, Headshot. Which was the

name of one of my podcasts a long, long time

ago. Yeah, it's, I mean, it was very similar

to Street Fighter II and kind of came off that,

but yeah, that's... It's hard to believe that

series is 25 years old. I can't even fathom that

thinking about it. I'm getting so old and it's

just running up and scaring me at this point

because we were looking at books with my kid

the other day and it was an older book and I

didn't realize it was an older book at the time.

But he's sitting there and he asks me, daddy,

what's that? And I look and I'm face to face

with a picture of a VCR and a cassette. And I'm

like, well son, that was the precursor to DVD,

which he knows the name of very well. So I had

to kind of try and explain it to him, even though

he was a little off put and confused. But, yeah,

it just goes to show. And then the cassette player,

we have a boombox that was mine from when I was

10 years old, so it's 21 years old. And it's

got an infrared remote control for it, so I can

control it across the house as long as I'm within

eye distance of it, or something that's reflective

to bounce off the signal. I liked toying with

them to begin with to kind of show that Haha,

look you turned it off. I can still turn it back

on or I can change it to a specific song that

they're listening to or track and It plays burned

CDs. So that that's kind of the good thing I

can I can Now not mp3 CDs it just plays burn

CDs but Because I have to make copies of my CDs

constantly because the kids take them out scratch

them and CDs are notorious for that so same reason

why the DVDs I have are backed up because if

I don't the kids will destroy them my youngest

is guilty of it more than once and so he's playing

with a cassette player on this this boombox and

he has no idea what this thing is for and I'm

just thankful I don't have an actual VCR anymore

because things would be in it Because when we

go to a friend's house who still has a VCR and

a DVD player, he intends to shove things in it

and I have to stop him. So, it's kind of interesting,

to say the least. So, yeah, it's kind of disturbing

to see age creeping ever so closer. So, also,

in 1977, on October 14th, which isn't that far

from now. Well, year -wise it is, but not day.

You get what I'm saying, leave me alone. Atari

released the VCS, the Video Computer System,

aka Atari 2600. I've actually played one of these.

I have an uncle that has one of those machines

and... I never used an Atari before, but he owns

like the 2600 and he owns another one that's

a little bit newer than that, but Yeah, I got

to play some of those games years ago. I think

I was 10 or 12 I played those I don't know it's

been almost 20 years since I played an Atari

and I was pretty Stinking good at it, which was

amazing for my age But I also played a lot of

those games. I grew up in the DOS era so a majority

of my games were like pong type of shows and

Stuff like that so not all that surprising So

what are some things you guys are geeky about

I'm I I'm kind of and a standstill of what I

should talk about in the next episode. I have

some topics, like I said, and I've mentioned

this before, but I'm not sure how loaded I want

to get on some of them. I mean, would tech addiction

be something that people would want to hear about,

the journey into eating different foods of going

vegan from a meat eater? going to certain movies

that are out, certain TV shows that are out,

thoughts on certain TV shows or movies or tech.

I kind of talk about the majority of the stuff

that I'm interested in on here, but I would kind

of like to know what you guys think, what you

guys want to know more of. or what type of topics.

So be sure to let me know. Send me feedback on

the episode post, Facebook, what's geeky to you,

hashtag on Twitter. I'm always open to that kind

of feedback for most of the shows. I always kind

of like to think of this as like a two -way road,

regardless of how I talk. Like I'm informing

and I'm kind of having a conversation but I'm

also getting things off my chest that are severely

irritating and I cannot look at Facebook right

now on Geekcast radio because I had a hard time

putting the art together for this particular

one that's out and It's Freddy Krueger vs. It

I am NOT I'm not looking forward to looking at

that So yeah, I'm just I'm kind of wondering

what what people are interested in at this point

in time and that's That's that's primarily what

I want to want to want to cover and then I'm

gonna cover of course when I go to TFG when Mike's

wedding what my experiences going to Chicago

during a different time of year and flying by

myself. I've never taken a trip by myself ever.

Terrifies me like no other. I am not somebody

that likes to, I may say I do, like I don't like

to, I don't like to drive. because I don't trust

myself, although that has changed in recent years

when I had to drive to BotCon and both my brothers

were supposed to be there as support for the

drive passed out while I was driving. And so

I drove the five hours to Chicago to TFCon, or

not TFCon, BotCon a few years ago. I met Michael

Wilson there. And Little Birdie tells me I'm

gonna meet him again during Blanchard's wedding,

so. Very happy for my cohort here. He deserves

to be happy. It'll be nice to have a more upbeat

Blanchard than the Charlie Brown special. Sorry

Mike, I had to throw you under the bus. So on

the last episode where I talked about the craziness

online, the sequels but not, and some pet peeves

of digital content. Brad Mull says, uh, Wow,

woke up to the Screen Junkies news was in shock.

We don't need to discuss what happened. I'm sure

it will be proven in court one way or another,

but imagine one day having your online life taken

away. I don't know what I would do without my

platform. I've just recently gotten comfortable

in talking in my platform. despite the random

topics that I cover from time to time and getting

back into covering all my various shows that

I enjoy, I don't know what I would do. I've been

living online and in real life since the year

1998 -99. I had a very traumatic late 90s experience

with my parents in that they got divorced and

so Since then, my brain had kind of created this

alternate persona of... At the time, I was Optimus

Second, but I later changed that. I've gone through

a variety of different names. I still use a few

of the avatar names. One of them was Avatar.

One of them was TreeOps, and then that was my

first -person shooter game name. I eventually

in 2005 became Megatron, and so that kind of

stuck. And because I can do Megatron's voice,

ah yes. Excellent! Yes! Because I can do that

voice, I became Steve Megatron after that, and

it really stuck. When I started podcasting I

stopped calling myself Steve slash Megatron and

became just Steve Megatron and It's now as I'm

trying to become more professional. I'm trying

to transition out of the Megatron phase Although

I still cling to it at times. I'm still Steve

Megatron on my Transformers podcasts I just am

trying to call myself by my actual name on here

and it's very difficult and sounds weird. So

until I get used to it I It's just gonna sound

awkward for me. But anyways, he says, I hope

the team pulls through and continues what they

do in the future, but I'm not sure where the

Screen Junkies' rights lay. I hope the team doesn't

suffer from one person's actions. Honestly, I

see them possibly continuing their Screen Junkies,

or I see them totally renaming it, rebanding,

recreating, and becoming something new, and doing

a lot of the same similar content, but... without

Andy Signore's distaste added to the mix of the

titles. He says, on the spoiler front, I prefer

to know as much as I can before seeing a film

so I can concentrate on the background more or

time that toilet break better. I totally agree

with you. It gives me more immersive ability

to sit there and pay attention to the details

over... all of the story. I mean, I can pay attention

to the story, but I can kind of gloss over parts

of it knowing what's going to be boring and what's

not. So with Star Trek Discovery, I wonder if

the writing is already on the wall as to how

the series will end. We don't see the ship in

the future because it's destroyed along with

the scientists researching the spore drive. Yeah,

I have this this theory that that series is going

to end with the discovery and everyone on board

being gone. And that's why you never see any

of them or hear about any of them. And I'm wondering

if it's a Section 31 thing. that it's kind of

like this black ops thing that's kind of known

but not known and they just keep it hidden and

I'm wondering if they go kind of more sleek and

smooth tech and kind of calm it down because

of some of possible disasters that may happen

on discovery because of their scientific breakthroughs

so they might be like keeping this in the back

burner for future technology and maybe this is

where they start to develop the transwarp technology

that comes out for the Excelsior. And, you know,

using this Spore Drive, maybe that's how this

whole thing comes about, I don't know, but I

would like to see how they explain it. I'm still

gonna watch it, regardless of my consistent complaints

with the series, but I think that knowing something

like... Would love to be a fly on the wall to

hear how this is gonna end and how this is gonna

play out Why this fits in continuity because

as of right now, I don't see any of that being

the case But you never know so I think that about

rounds it out for this episode of altered geek

and in this impromptu Wednesday edition So look

forward to the Friday edition where I'll have

something else. Hopefully entertaining as well

and Maybe I'll get TFG1 Mike on for a nice conversation

and kind of see what happens. Anyways, until

then, get altered, get geeky with the Altergeeks.
