two coming uh through the all things transformers

feat uh with the uh coverage of and review of

beast wars neo force 2 so uh that will be what

to look forward to next week on that feat perfect

i'm covering the star trek series as it progresses

along with all of the uh variety press therein

and i wrapped up the gcrn wars tournament of

the 90s villains and uh i won't spoil it for

you if you haven't listened to the episode yet

or checked out the results but I was a little

surprised at the winner and that's saying a lot

considering I love the characters involved Be

sure to check that out on the GCN wars or geek

cast radio feeds There's also some news on GCN

wars, but you'll have to listen to that episode

to get that information Not dropping that here

and we're gearing up for the top 100 countdown

of the ultimate villains. Whether it be from

TV, animation, movies, video games, whatever,

they're all involved. So it'll be interesting

as that progresses and we get that system set

up and start recording those. I honestly have

no idea what to expect in that. There's been

a lot of great characters over the years villain

wise, so I'm not really sure what... We're gonna

end up seeing who's gonna get knocked out early

who's not gonna make it. I'm gonna whine if Megatron

doesn't make it So hopefully he does So, yeah,

this will be my first Joe jumping back into the

top 100 since the top 100 television series and

I'm kind of excited for it to be honest. I I

don't Really know what to expect. But like I

said, it's it's gonna be my first jump back in

in a while I'm going for on the GeekCast Radio

Network stuff So we'll we'll see what happens

also You may have noticed some of the feeds have

been getting some updates some well -warranted

updates on podcast art such as GeekCast radio

with GeekCast radio presents and, uh, Tooncast

classic Getting a New Art, and, uh, Legends of

the Dark Knight becoming Legends of the Brave

and the Bold with, uh, two new arts. Uh, yeah,

there's some, uh, interesting things afoot on

the Geekcast Radio, and you'll have to stay tuned

until December when TFG1 Mike and I, uh, sit

down to do the year -end podcast. Kind of breaking

down... What's going to happen with the Geekcast

Radio Network next year? I'm very optimistic

and hopeful on the things that are coming. You'll

see some returns of some fan favorites, whether

it be podcasts or of various awards, tournaments

and top 100s. There's going to be a lot of fun

next year, so be sure to... Keep revisiting GeekCastRadio.

Also, you may have noticed that our webpage had

a revamp. Yeah, I know this is posted on This

Week in Geek, AlteredGeek .com, GeekCastRadio

.com. AlteredGeek .com is kind of my soapbox.

I post all things Transformers, Future Imperfect,

AlteredGeek. Dragon Ball Z, whatnot. Everything

else is on Geekcast Radio, and This Week in Geek

more or less has a plethora of the same content

on Geekcast Radio. We might as well be the same

site. So, that aside, I think I'm gonna jump

into a quick break here so that I can go cleanly

into the first topic I have today. So we'll be

right back after this. And we're back, so I figured

we would talk about some new movie stuff that's

coming up. And speaking of new movie, I hope

you guys listened to the last episode where we

covered Star Wars The Last Jedi's trailer, among

other things, and... I'm still blown away by

the trailer. I've seen a lot of stuff kind of

conflicting either way and how it was a lot of

misdirection, which obviously they're going to

do that in a trailer. But I think that nothing

is as it seems in the trailer. It's going to

be interesting. that scene together and say those

lines to each other in the film like that, I'd

be very surprised. Another good misleading trailer.

So yeah, I mean, it's gonna be fun when it finally

comes out to figure out what's going on. And

then he says that, love that score, definitely

got chills. Do you think Luke wasn't scared by

the Emperor or Kylo? I think we've seen in episode

seven, He's not that powerful. The new staple

of Star Wars, the Falcon, always has to fly and

spin through a tight tunnel. I'm definitely hoping

Snoke is Palpatine to further tie the trilogies

together. He dealt with the clones in episode

2. I'm sure he had a backup plan. Like Han in

episode 7, this won't end with Luke alive, will

it? There's sure to be a Luke -Kylo or Luke -Evil

Rey or Luke -Snoke fight in him not surviving.

His death might bring Rey back to the light side

and he knows it. Probably also worth mentioning

all the issues Mark had with where Luke was going

and was pretty vocal about it. Yeah, I mean,

it's hard to say. I think Luke's gonna hit some

dark tones here. I don't think Luke's gonna die.

I think that they're wanting you to think he's

gonna die, but I think that he's gonna make it

through episode 9. Then again, hard to say, based

on how much Leia was supposed to dominate episode

9. So, I don't know. I mean, we could see Luke

come back for one more. We just won't know until

December 15th when the film comes out. Or if

some d -bag decides to put the information online.

I myself do not personally care for spoilers.

Like, I'll read them. Like, it doesn't bother

me because I'm still going to see the movie.

Whereas other people are like, no, it ruined

the movie, it ruined the experience. Like, some

movies I'll be like that. But other ones where

I want to know what happens to my character that

I enjoy, I don't really care either way. I will

still see the movie. biologically advanced, not

biological or nature. I'm not sure how fans will

take that. Yeah, I'll talk about that probably

later on, but it's a different ground. I'm sure

I'll cover some of that on Future Imperfect.

I'm going to stay away from Star Trek here for

the most part. One of the best things that I

got to hear was that Batman the Unlimited series

for those that are fans of it is going to be

released on Blu -ray in 2018 Which is kind of

awesome considering I have them all on DVD Depending

on cost and if they come with extra features

because let's face it Warner Brothers it depends

on what it is whether they put features in it,

but It's gonna be the 25th anniversary of Batman

animated series and they announced it at a panel

at New York Comic Con That Warner Brothers Home

Entertainment was going to have the remastered

blu -ray of it and It'll be available for streaming

on Amazon Prime as well. I Would love to know

how much this is gonna cost and how where I can

get it I'm sure I'm going to get it on Amazon

if I get it. I would really, really want to check

this out and compare it to the previous sets

that I have right now. So that's to be brought

up. And then of course with the whole Blade Runner

2049, I did watch this movie. I was interested

in checking it out More so because I saw the

first Blade Runner and I was a little underwhelmed

by it. I mean Wasn't it interesting thing? Yes,

I was underwhelmed because of how it ended and

I was again kind of underwhelmed with This one

It was fun, but I I didn't see it going in this

direction it was kind of I don't know I don't

know, it took a different direction than what

I thought it was going to do. I'm not going to

spoil it for anybody that hasn't seen it yet,

but I think that the film... There could have

been some other things it did with it, I'll just

leave it at that. I know that it bombed at the

box office though, so... That's a little disconcerting

on that. Kind of sad that it got this bad of

a budgetary bomb. I think that it was better

as one of those things that lived in the past.

If you're gonna check it out check it out, but

it's it's probably gonna be one of those Wanted

done pretty quick out of the theater Setup, which

is kind of unfortunate and speaking of of Harrison

Ford John right rice Davies wants to return for

Indiana Jones 5 Funny enough to reprise his role

alongside Harrison Ford playing Indiana Jones.

So it would be interesting. I think it's funny

how many actors are coming out of the woodwork

now saying that they want to reprise their roles

and they want to revisit it because we're in

the age of sequels and reboots and everything

else, mostly sequels, even the stuff that came

out 30, 40 years ago. or even less time, but

it's just funny to see these actors rejoining

their original franchises that were pretty huge

at the time. So we've got a plethora of other

films. There's rumors of a third Father and the

Bride coming out. There's rumors of Bill and

Ted III getting... titled Bill and Ted face the

music words, you know an older You know future

version of Bill and Ted having to confront present

-day Bill and Ted for not Fulfilling their destiny

type thing. So I'll see it. I'll see Bill and

Ted 3 because I like the first two I Don't think

it's gonna be any good because it's it's another

one of those things like yeah Let's go back and

visit dumb and dumber or you know dumb and you

know Number number two, you know, it's it's it's

that instance where it should just kind of be

left alone But I'll still see it just because

of what it is Another funny thing that That is

kind of coming out is there's a Teaser trailer

for a documentary on Nickelodeon It's called

The Orange Years, the Nickelodeon story, which

I'm a little interested in this, honestly. I

used to not be able to sit through any, and mind

you, any documentary without falling asleep.

I used to find them incredibly boring. I used

to find them so boring that I couldn't sit through

them. And as I started to decompress my mind

and get out of a lot of the go, go, go, go, go,

go media, I... Was actually able to sit through

a documentary and enjoy it enjoy some of the

slower paced films, too which was amazing for

me because most of my stuff had to be like brainless

and and just kind of sit there and stare at the

screen mouth wide open eating or something so

I I'm kind of amazed that this is getting made

now But I'm still intrigued because I kind of

grew up on Nickelodeon more than Disney because

Disney at the has always been one of those extra

channels that you kind of had to pay for and

Nickelodeon's kind of just hung out on the tail

end of the secondary cable package that most

people can still afford before they're like,

eh, you're kind of pushing my luck here. So the

current Nickelodeon kind of honestly sucks. So

this I'm a little bit more enthusiastic about.

But they kind of go through the whole thing of,

you know, you have Mark Summers getting an interview,

they have the VHS tape, they have a lot of like,

are you afraid of the dark, are you real monsters,

you can't do that on television, they've got

Keenan on there doing part of an interview, Cal,

like all that actors, that World of Alex Mack,

they've got, you know, Rugrats, and just... various

things of how they pushed the envelope, how they

started out the whole concept of everything,

what they were going for with all the different

more real kids and less acting, which is kind

of what we got on that station. I'm definitely

looking forward to seeing this when it comes

out next year. Kind of stay tuned for that I'd

be honestly a little bit excited to see that

when it comes out and then like The other thing

that's kind of come back from the 90s to alongside

Nickelodeon is we've got the new Jumanji movie

Which nobody's really sure about because it's

got the Rock and it's got Jack Black Kevin Hart

and Gilliam in it Can't remember her name, but

anyways So it's supposed to take place on the

opposite spectrum. So like you have the original

Jumanji which takes place in the real world and

Alan gets pulled out of Jumanji and these people

get sucked into Jumanji and so you get to see

what he actually had to deal with when he was

in there. And so I guess they're gonna have a

little bit of a connection because it's not a

reboot or a sequel, it's kind of its own thing,

but it's kind of a sequel, in that we're getting...

we're getting the the stuff that Alan used or

like the houses that he built or various things

that connected to the first film so you'll get

that in in this film as well which I thought

was kind of a tasteful touch of of homaging to

everything that's kind of happened in the Jumanji

world so But yeah, that's kind of the movie stuff.

I've been kind of trying to skim over a lot of

the stuff that's more pertinent in the movie

realm than what most sites do. And that's one

thing that drives me nuts about the TV, radio

news, film... geek websites is that everybody's

covering the same stuff. I mean I'm doing it

too and so I'm like I'm equally as guilty here

in this situation but I kind of see it as like

saving you clickbait time and just telling you

what the gist of the article is and that's that's

kind of how I see it. But yeah, so so in addition

to all of that Then we go over to the TV side

and there's rumors of sci -fi acquiring future

alma to revive yet another time as of October

3rd and I Think would be hilarious if this would

be like the third time the show has been picked

up after cancellation and there's a huge buzz

behind it which is Funny enough. I mean they

had the first airing on Fox from 99 to 2003,

then brought back in 2007 with four direct -to

-DVD movies, then aired his 30 -minute episodes

on Comedy Central, and then Comedy Central ordered

new seasons of the series that came out in June

2010 and kind of went a couple years, and they're

doing... basically sci -fi is doing a brand reboot

so they're looking at getting Futurama back on

the air again on their station because they're

they're also doing like their other original

series which are like Krypton and and a reboot

of tremors and they've got a lot of They've got

a George R. R. Martin space opera, Night Flyers,

which is, I have no idea. Then they've got The

Expanse, The Magicians, and all kinds of other

stuff. So, yeah, I think it would be interesting

to see Futurama return to TV. Some people will

be happy about this other news, though, that

the Big Bang Theory might get extended into season

13. but they don't, there's not, it doesn't look

likely it's gonna continue beyond 2018 -2019.

And I think, I think that if they do continue

with it, I think it'd be fine, although I don't

think they have much room left to go. I personally

do not give a rip about this young Sheldon show,

which Blanchard likes. I guess it got renewed

for a season 2 and 3 to kind of subside the fact

that if Big Bang 3 gets tanked after season 12,

I think they're relying on this to replace it.

I will not be watching this show. Plus the kid

that's on young Sheldon just looks acts and and

reminds me in every detail From the bowtie to

the face to the hair like he could be the the

son of the kid from problem child Literally looks

just like that kid. I It's just it's it's a little

bit insane So Yeah. And then Disney is planning

to do their own original content for their streaming

service, which who wouldn't? I don't know. I'm

such a downer when it comes to TV. And then they're

talking about doing a Sister Sister revival on

TV as well, which doesn't surprise me. they've

already done the That's So Raven and Fuller House

and Girl Meets World and everything is getting

a revival just because Hollywood can't come up

with new ideas and they're riding in nostalgia's

coattails with our generation and while I like

it to some degree I think that a lot of it's

a mistake because the newer shows always Pale

in comparison because they try to reuse the original

formula of the shows and not evolve it and I

say that because I've watched Fuller House and

They're riding on a lot of the coattails and

they're on season three, which is a shorter season

than two and one But the laugh track is really

getting on my nerves a little bit and I think

it's because I don't know if it's because like

I think it's insulting my intelligence and trying

to tell me and this was a conversation myself

and Mike Powers had a few years ago about the

laugh track and at the time I don't know if it's

like age catching up with me because he is a

little bit older than I am but I am it bothers

me now and I don't know why I didn't mind it

on, like, Last Man Standing or stuff like that,

but I think it's because I'm hearing the same

laugh track on Fuller House. And also Big Bang

3, like, I can take things that are funny in

it. I don't need the laugh track to necessarily

tell me. So I think it's kind of funny in that

instance that they're still kind of relying on

it. But the other unfortunate part is I still

can't stand shows like Modern Family or... stuff

like that where it's got the almost interview

-style office humor to it. So I guess that it's

kind of all over the place. Then getting into

video games before I go to a quick break and

do a topic. Battlefield 1, expansions and celebrations,

turning the tides, anniversaries, operations,

campaigns, and more. are coming out. So, we're

on the horizon of a third expansion, in -game

events, updates, and more, blah blah blah, on

preparing Battlefield 1 Turning Tides. In December,

they'll have the ability to conquer the sea,

air, and land in Battlefield 1 Turning Tides.

The third expansion, with a focus on naval warfare,

where you'll engage in the daredevil Zebrug...

Raid and the Gallipoli Offensive with the British

Royal Marines as a new playable faction prepare

for new maps weapons vehicles and other content

as you take on the amphibious Expeditions of

World War one and then of course, it's like the

it's the 15 years of battlefield here the 15th

year anniversary and There's the one year anniversary

as well on Battlefield 1 so I'm I I've not really

been keeping up with the game as much as I should

have I've been playing Star Trek online which

has just come out with this episode 14 which

is quite honestly It's it's a it's short all

the stuff. We've got is short. They're supposed

to have a huge expansion in 2018 in in summer

of 2018 which I'll really be looking forward

to but it's a lot of just residual gradual updates

and thankfully with Season 14 they came out with

a new uniform, they came out with a new shuttlecraft,

they came out with a bunch of other new incentives

to play in missions with Captain Geordi LaForge.

I restarted another character, I deleted another

one, so I've pretty much got three that I keep

that are my powerhouses that are maxed out on

everything. and then I use the other two just

to kind of eh, just kind of meander around the

universe and try out different ships and do different

stuff with it and then if I need a credits influx

I use my primary character that was actually

my third one I made or fifth one and I can't

keep track I've made like eight characters by

now so yeah I've been doing that lately and then

yeah that's this Primarily mostly what's been

happening. I'm waiting for Next week. I'm gonna

cover some of the DC CW Returns with TF2 and

Mike Because I still I I don't know if arrow

errors this this week or not like it I'm assuming

it errors on this Thursday, which I'm recording

on but I haven't really checked into it. I will

say Supergirl was interesting, Legends was pretty

good going back into it, and The Flash was pretty

good as well. I'm excited for more of what they

do with it. Yeah, other than that, I don't have

anything else in the TV world. So I'll be right

back into this commercial break with the topic

of the evening. For you, the listeners of Altered

so... Yeah, we're going to cover the topics of

the evening, and all of these are a little bit

controversial, so if you don't like that, turn

it off. And I'm sorry. So yeah, you may have

noticed the random buzz going around the internet

right now. Wow, this has been a crazy week. Everybody's

been talking about the Harvey Weinstein thing.

about the sexual harassment, which is totally

unwarranted, and when I say unwarranted, I mean

the guy's a D -bag. If you're preying on people

like that, you're just scum. So, yeah, the other

thing is, and this one is a little bit more significant,

at least, to the geek. YouTube side of the world,

and that's the Defy Media Screen Junkies on his

trailers, Andy Signore, the creator of On His

Trailers and Screen Junkies. They had the whole

ordeal with him being suspended over allegations

of sexual harassment, which were later discovered

to be 100 % true, and so he was fired for his

egregious and intolerable sexual behavior, which

If you're using your media powers for evil, expect

to be dealt, eventually, the get out of dodge

card or go to jail card. What kind of an idiot

do you have to be to sit there and... I don't

even have a clue. How to address this like this

is just disgusting Like I and I was a follower

of screen junkies of honest trailers loved the

content loved a lot of the stuff that Defy media

put out and then to find out that you know this

guy the head of content for defy media and the

creator of screen junkies and honest trailers

has been Doing basically the same thing that

the the Weinstein thing happened It's just It's

shocking and then of course the the rest of the

guys for screen junkies which kudos to them like

they're like I don't even know what to do right

now They're like like I'm not even going to work

this changes everything you know and and so like

I totally get Where they're they're coming from

on that? You know you you have They're all saying,

you know, what Andy did changed everything. Fundamentally,

we have to ask questions and get answers. Normal

is gone. We need time. That's what Dan Murrell

said on there, and he's completely right. Like,

how do you rebound from something that dark and...

Especially when you think you know somebody and

then they just do something like that. That's

just crazy. Like... That would be and then and

then you know if you're married and you're you

know You have kids or you know and all this stuff

and you're doing this like It just makes you

even bigger of a d -bag not that you're not any

way when you're doing this to some other Female

like it's just sick I Don't even I don't even

know how to address this like it's it's just

ridiculous what this guy did And unfortunately,

there's more people like that out in the world

which is even sicker like you obviously know

your personality if you're one of these people

that's gonna come across as just kind of a sleazeball

keep it to yourself like don't sit there and

try and I Don't know creep out other women. Don't

try and like use your Media powers and and threaten

people and I Don't know it's just it's just sick

So yeah, I mean defy media firing him was the

best thing that could have happened for everyone

involved I Wonder how long it's gonna take the

guy to rebound and show back up in the media

for something I Don't even know like this is

just kind of crazy It is gonna snowball from

here You're gonna see more of this kind of stuff

in the future of people getting caught for just

being slimy it's just It's getting out of hand

especially it just makes it easier for these

people to get caught now because of social media

because it's out in the open and Yeah, I don't

even have words for this this is everybody under

the Sun's been talking about the Weinstein guy

but like the honest trailers guy just kind of

hits more for me just because I've been a consistent

follower of their content and like the content

but It just makes me have appreciation for everybody

else that worked with them and Give this bad

light to the rest of it. So I mean, I I don't

know how they're gonna rebound their companies

from that But the the people that worked with

them and did all this are doing the right thing

so And then of course, you know another YouTube

controversy is the the whole ad monetization

where Somebody on YouTube can be talking about,

let's say, the Vegas thing or something else

that's controversial that's about an event that's

happened that's harmed the world, that's harmed

people. Just forgetting about it. Somebody wants

to talk about it, wants to talk about what's

happened to people and express their helping

the victims. genuine stuff like that you know

their videos are being monetized and then you

get and this was this was just something that

Philip DeFranco I used because I watch his stuff

periodically he tells about how you know these

other people on YouTube or these other people

reporting this kind of news aren't able to claim

monetization for their videos Yet you get these

people like Jimmy Kimmel or the late -night talk

show host that are able to monetize their content

and see a commercial before it. I don't know,

I just think that that's a double -edged sword

that YouTube's playing with here. And it's only

a matter of time before somebody comes up with

some other system outside of YouTube and just

basically sticks it to them. And at this point

I would see it kind of... I don't know I would

see it kind of on the youtubers part just because

that's not everybody's Destructive to the ad

process like obviously you can tell if they're

not worthy of being ad friendly, but to take

just anybody outside of a professional media

person who Let's face it, it's the YouTubers

that made YouTube big, not these late night talk

show hosts, not these celebrities. They just

kind of jumped on the bang wang and later and

managed to outshine everybody else because money

follows money. the response that Team YouTube

gave, they says, we love what you're doing to

help, but no matter the intent, our policy is

not to run advertisements on ads, on videos about

tragedies. How can you be like that and then

you just let people like Jimmy Kimmel do it?

I don't know. He's such a phony too, I can't

even bother with that. Speaking of more rotten

stuff, then we get this YouTube series, which

I'm so glad I never heard of until recently,

and I'm so glad my kid doesn't watch YouTube.

No matter what your thoughts are on the LGBTQXYZWCRZ...

whatever. They have a YouTube series called Queer

Kid Stuff, which is not trying to be controversial,

but yet they're explaining non -heterosexual

relationships to children, which in books and

movies introduce all these other paradigms to

children. Which, first of all, it's recommended

for kids ages three to seven and so they're marketing

to toddlers not kids and then they're introducing

gay people as a concept to children which children

don't care about sexuality they don't there's

nothing in there that that they need to know

about the adult social dynamics like there's

nothing in there they don't comprehend it They

just know that there's a mommy and a daddy. They

barely understand what a male and a female is.

Don't sit there and confuse the heck out of them.

Having somebody dress like whatever. I feel like

a monkey today. I feel like a chimpokomon. I

feel like I'm a purple paper bag that walks around

backwards. I don't know. It's kind of gotten

out of hand. So yeah, they have this whole thing

with pronouns. Where did this crap, this weird

crap come from? You can identify as whatever

the hell you want, but stop pushing it on my

kid. This is why I don't let my kid watch YouTube.

I don't want to let him watch Netflix. I actually

just canceled my Netflix membership. That's done.

More so because... They're constantly pushing

the envelope with this stuff, and I don't want

my kid Accidentally tumbling on it, so I'll just

find other methods of letting my kids watch certain

programming And it's gonna be primarily from

the 90s because I don't have to worry about As

much of this stuff spreading in there and granted

he's not gonna be watching Pretty much. He's

not gonna be watching any animation or anybody

that's dressing funky or trying to be like a

You know They they used you know any like blues

clues or any of that kind of stuff or or You

know Pee Wee Herman style or anything else like

I mean I grew up on some of that stuff, too And

I turned out fine, but like it's still I'm not

letting my kid watch that crap. He doesn't even

be confused by what all this stuff is and You

can love people for being people you don't need

this stuff, and then you got this person that

has a degree in theater trying to teach kids

about sexuality when doesn't have a degree in

anything. I don't know, I think that stuff like

this, honestly, I think that things like this

that are marketed towards children should be

marketed through the government or something,

or not even marketed through the government.

They should be just marketed, period, away from

children. There's nothing, you shouldn't be shoving

politics on kids, you shouldn't be shoving sexuality

on kids. They don't even care. Teach them ABCs,

teach them squares, shapes, colors, the states,

teach them the countries, teach them capitals,

teach them stuff like that. That is what children

should be learning. What different trucks do,

what does a fireman do, what does a policeman

do. You know, what does a construction worker

do? You know, just stuff like that. You know,

they don't, they don't need to know this stuff.

That's, that's just pushing the envelope. It's,

I don't know. I find this very shameless and,

and just, I don't know. I, this, this is just

further reason why I don't want to send my kids

to public schools. I don't want to have them

watch media. And honestly, like, it's getting

hard for me to watch certain shows now, too,

because I can deal with it if it's gay and lesbian.

That's your sexual preference of whatever. Like,

I can deal with it. It doesn't bother me. It's

when you start pushing these, like, I identify

as... There's only two genders. No matter how

you put it, there's two genders. It's always

been that way. It's funny that all of a sudden,

now that this is a new thing, that... They erase

that episode from Bill Nye on Netflix and then

it's all of a sudden. Oh, there's 93 of them

now It's just I don't know. I can't I can't Let

my kid watch his crap anymore so Here's the last

thing that gets me all fired up and that has

to do with rotten tomatoes Martin Scorsese believes

that Rotten Tomatoes is hostile to filmmakers

and not real film criticism. And in this regard,

Mr. Scorsese, I agree. I think it's utter garbage.

It's just another blog site, no different than

my own, telling people what we think about something.

And yes, it aggregates different reviewers, but

you don't even have to have a qualification to

be a reviewer at any of these places. Forgive

me if I'm wrong on that, but I don't think you

actually have to. I could review stuff on anywhere

I want, practically, and this whole thing about

the tomato meter, I really find it funny when

things get reviewed before they come out, and

they get given a certain rating. there's no possible

way to tell what it could possibly have. That's,

I think, what drives me bonkers about this whole

Rotten Tomatoes thing is because you can have

a good show and it'll get ranked badly. For instance,

the Orville has a 19 % rotten on Rotten Tomatoes.

However, the audience score says 91 % liked it.

And that's the critics consensus is an odd jumble

of campiness and sincerity, homage and satire.

The Oroville never quite achieves a lift off,

which it's, I find it very entertaining and humorous

and yet it's the most like Star Trek The Next

Generation we've gotten in 20 years. So I'm gonna

take it. Plus the uniforms look like they were

yanked from Galaxy Quest, so I'm even better

with that. So I'm perfectly fine with it. Then

you go over to Star Trek Discovery and the tomato

meter has 86 % certified fresh rotten tomatoes.

It says, consensus, although it takes an episode

to achieve liftoff, Discovery delivers a solid

franchise installment for the next generation,

boldly led by the charismatic Sonicwub. Mountain

Green! And then the audience score, 60 % liked

it. I'm not saying I don't like the new track.

I have a lot of issues with it. I have a lot

of issues with it. But... I would still watch

it. But to call the Orville, like, completely

rotten? I take a little bit of offense to that.

I don't know. I'm so done with a lot of this

review -style crap. And I do think that the Rot

Tomatoes and these places that are way off the

mark, it's grown so much in prominence that everybody

uses it for this moral gauge. Probably because

newspapers and the critics there don't get the

time of day anymore and so they use this This

this new setup Yeah, I mean there's some instances

where they can be spot -on and it's like a totally

garbage film but there's there's a lot of instances

where Yes, some of the warranting is deserved

with the movies. However, there's a lot of times

where the audience and the critics never line

up, and that's pretty much true most of the time.

Even looking at Rotten Tomatoes now with Star

Trek, they say the highest rated TV show is 90

% of The Next Generation, and then... Highest

rated movies is the 2009 Which is neither here

nor there and then of course their graphic of

the enterprise a that's on there is flipped backwards

So it says a 1 0 7 1 dash CC and That's pure

intelligence right there, and then they have

you know the wrong Star Trek badge, but whatever

So discovery has 86 % fresh beyond has 84 % fresh

Darkness has 86 % fresh. That was garbage film.

94 % for Trek. Nemesis has rotten. Enterprise

doesn't even have a rating. Insurrection has

rotten. First Contact fresh. Generations has

rotten. Star Trek V rotten. The Martian picture

rotten. I don't know. I'm so done with these

type of sites. I don't even use them. Honestly,

I gauge it on the trailer. I look at them. I

look at who's in it. I look at the budget, and

then I look at the plot, and then I see if it's

feasible or something I'm going to care about.

If I think it's going to be garbage, then I pretty

much skip ahead, or there are instances where

I will go see a movie, and when I do, I review

it after I've watched it. This is probably part

of that whole internet outrage thing, because

we're all full of it. It's an addiction. Yeah.

I listened to a podcast a couple months ago and

somebody was talking about how internet outrage

is a process addiction. You know, like, do you

check your phone when you first wake up? You

know, aspects like that. The nice thing though

about this, despite what you may think, of what

someone's opinion is, everyone's yet no one's

opinion counts on the internet. I think William

Shatner said it best when somebody was talking

about how amazing how freedom of expression only

applies to spoiled brats having a tantrum. That's

what somebody said to him and he says, that is

what everything is about online these days. Agree

with me or your opinion doesn't count. I think

that I think that open dialogue seems to be the

problem. Communication seems to be 99 % of the

problem for anything. Companies, government,

people. If you're not physically talking to somebody

and discussing something, there's a problem.

And that's because people just shut out what

they don't want to hear. And that's everybody.

Myself included. I've learned to try and tackle

it differently. Over the years, but it's just

it's it's crazy So I think I've talked your guys

ear off quite a bit in this episode. I hope you

guys enjoyed it despite My ranting here at the

end. Let me know what you guys think Let me know

what you think is geeky by going hashtag. What's

geeky to you and then we'll reconvene next week

with some superhero talk And we'll see what else

comes up on the internets. So until next time,

get altered, get geeky with the Altered Geeks.
