Altered Geek
TV Revival, Smart Homes, and 5G Networks

About this Episode
This week on Altered Geek Unlimited, we talk
TV, revival of television shows including Star
Trek, 3G, 4G, and 5G, what the hell is it? And
more on this week's Altered Geek Unlimited. Hello
and welcome to Altered Geek Unlimited episode
80. I'm your host Steve Megatron Phillips and
joining me this week is a different dynamic.
We have a returning host. Hello. Who the hell
are you? Yeah, I'm amazed my equipment still
works. I almost thought the microphone was actually
packed up. But my wife and her infinite wisdom
left it unpacked on the desk. It must have been
an omen. Something. Or she's just really she's
just too good for me. She just knows you. Pretty
much. So, yes, I am back. Michael Powers, I'm
here with. Sometimes unpopular opinions about
things. I think you had more of the popular opinions
of things. We had more comments. But that's maybe
because you get people thinking we just kind
of are off the wall. Well, we'll see if I can
drum them up. Maybe wake them up a little bit.
We had a lot of comments this week. And if you
haven't guessed, unlike the Birdman Dud, I'm
the person your parents warned you about. Don't
take candy from him to say Unless there's skittles
from your mouth unless there's skittles with
the trick rabbit Unless you give unless you give
him a skittle bomb and then he's happy But we're
also joined with a co -host from this week How
did I get in here even double D Dennis? Sitting
on Mike's couch Not my lab week He's not Santa
Claus I tried that already But he gives you presents?
I do. No, he gave me Skittles. I gave you AIDS.
Skittle bombs. Skittle AIDS. Isn't that Sklades?
Sklades. It's a new terrible disease. The CDC
is currently investigating it. So... Here is
our intrepid, uh, lanchard. A rock fell on him.
He's at home washing his tights. He's been using
Brand X. Aquaman's not here right now. Please
leave a message. I miss calling him Aquaman or
him and his giant grizzly Adam's beard. I just
miss the jokes about it, so. Every time I see
the beard I think of Duck Dynasty. Right now
he's probably like when he's listening to this
will be banging his head on his desk Working
a lot I Did a 17 -hour shift on Monday a 17 -hour
shift on Tuesday I Had yesterday off and I did
15 hours today It's more money in my pocket,
that's how I look at it. How's the the moving
process? Yes, I am getting ready to move It's
going well, I mean Steve, you know, I don't know
if Mike you know, you know about this the whole
process of trying to buy a home is Lengthy because
people ask you for stuff you give it to them
then they don't get it and you ask they ask for
it again and it's a big Mess, but everything's
on the up -and -up. We should be closing by the
end of the month So hopefully we'll be moving
in the like the first week of April into our
new home Which I'm really excited about but like
the outside of the house is it's Someone just
made a box and put windows in it But the the
inside is is really I I really like the inside
of the house The outside is like nothing to look
at at all. It is a straight -up two -story box
house Like a little cube, but with a roof on
it If you painted it black and put some piping
on the outside of it, you could probably make
it into a Borg cube. Oh, wow. But the inside
of it's where it's at. And I've got the wife
has given me permission to make the house as
smart as we possibly can. So some of my first
purchases for the home are going to be the Nest
line of products like the Nest Learning Thermostat.
and the nest smoke detectors, stuff like that.
So, yeah, I'm really looking forward to it because
whenever I go and look, when I would go and you
look at an apartment to like move to or something
like that or when we're shopping for the house
that we have right now, we'd go and look at these
houses. And the first thing I always try to do
when I walk into a living space is where would
I put the TV? How would I hook up the surround
sound but but that's the same thing that has
to do with where you put the TV like Wherever
the TV goes. It's where your center channel is
gonna go, right? So it's it's all it's all kind
of the same thing It's just everything for me
is centered around Where's the best spot for
the TV to go and I'm really good at visualizing
that except for this house I could not visualize
where to put the TV in the family room and So
it's going on the ceiling. Not quite. They did
this really weird thing. They added an enclosed
porch onto the front of the house. But they had
a before that they had a picture window that
looked out on the front yard. Well, when they
added in this enclosed porch, they left the picture
window on the inside wall. So this giant picture
window looked out onto this enclosed porch, which
was kind of pointless. So. my wife thought, well,
why don't you just put the TV in front of the
window? And I was like, well, OK, that's that's
fair, because the window doesn't look out on
anything anymore. And on the other side of the
window, I think outside the box. But when I went
over there for the inspection with my dad, he
took a look at the picture window. And ironically
enough, it's the same window they have in their
house. And he's like, you know, this all of this
comes out. And is like one piece we can take
this out finish the wall and we can build you
an entertainment center that around your TV And
I like lost I lost my shit Because all of a sudden
is like I I can now the thing that like most
how most women plan like their weddings for the
last 16 years of my life. I've been planning
in my head the perfect entertainment center and
So like now I have the I have the opportunity
and the space To do this and my wife also in
her graciousness gave me permission to also buy
another TV To go in this in this new Entertainment
Center, this is on top of the TV. I got in November
Well, I have a The TV I got in November because
I found as I can't remember the last time I did
a podcast with you Steve It's been a while. I
picked up on special from Sam's Club I picked
up the 60 inch Vizio 4k TV for a thousand bucks
And I my plan is to For the for the entertainment
center for the new home My plan is to get Vizio's
reference series TV, which isn't out yet, but
it's another 4k TV There's a whole bunch of like
bells and whistles that go along with it that
I don't really think anyone cares about but me
I mean, I tell people I talk to people about
it, but their eyes just glaze over You know,
I haven't really done that on this TV The the
one interesting thing about this TV is one of
the things I was expecting with 4k TV was that
input lag would be a pain in the ass like Because
it has to be able to it has to take a 1080p signal
and upscale it to 4k to be presented You know
the right way on the TV, and I thought that's
gonna add a whole bunch of input lag between
what I do and what shows up on the TV. And what's
really funny is it actually has the lowest rated
input lag out of most TVs on the market. It's
it's between 15 and 20 milliseconds. So and I've
I've noticed a difference in games that are like
like Arkham, where it's the button press actually
matters and like Shadows of Mordor is another
one. Where the button presses actually matter.
It's it's way more on It's twice as fast as the
TV that I replaced it with which was a three
-year -old Samsung So and I've seen some 4k stuff
not not true 4k like from a sort from a dedicated
source or anything like that, but Netflix I Can
definitely see a difference between 1080p and
4k at least as far as the streaming content goes
So but I like it and that yeah, I was gonna go
with the vizio reference series, which is a 65
inch TV As the centerpiece for the new entertainment
center That just sounds sick I have this tendency
to buy a new TV every two to three years Regardless
of how like what the current the current one
is and what's really funny is the the TV I replaced
was a 55 inch Samsung It was a top -of -the -line
Samsung in 2012 I believe it was and It was really
it was it's a still really nice TV and I told
I told Ali this is when 4k was just coming out
of CES and it was like eight Between eight and
ten thousand dollars for a 4k TV and We all know
that 4k TVs that TV technology the price on it
falls out really fast and Told her I said, you
know, I I want to get this TV the Samsung TV
But I will not look or get another TV until like
4k is Within my price range thinking it's going
to be years before that stuff comes down in price
lo and behold Almost two years later Vizio shows
up at CES with their 4k TV starting at a thousand
dollars And I was like, okay Babe this wasn't
me. I didn't do this. I wasn't expecting anybody
to come up with a thousand dollar 4k TV So of
how quickly that kind of technology develops
now, yeah like it's It's too fast for anyone
who isn't extremely rich to keep up with them,
really. Yeah. I still have my Samsung plasma
of 52 -inch that I got, I think, in 2012, so...
I only got 50 -something I got last September
when my other TV broke. Almost went with the
plasma TV I was gonna get Samsung's last generation
the last generation plasma TV because it's like
one of the highest rated plasmas like ever but
Then Vizio trump them with the with the 4k not
only that they did They it's not edge lit like
most le le LCD TVs are it's um it's lit from
behind. It's a full array so Nice even lighting
across the back plus. There's local dimming involved
which means portions of the screen can shut off
independently of what else whatever else is going
on on TV in the picture sometimes you can see
it like during credits and stuff like that and
other times it's it it blends in really nicely
really depends on how well an encoding is on
on certain materials so but that's what I don't
know if you saw my my tirade my tired rant on
Twitter I guess about not being able to properly
enjoy stuff enjoy visual media anymore like I
just look at it and like critique the source
that it's coming from like the project is at
work I can see the pixels on the screen and that
really annoys me and when I'm at home I can see
the I'm trying to see if it's as you know if
the blacks are as black as they can be or is
the local dimming working the way that it's supposed
to and Like you open the Pandora's box of technology
and enjoy something for what it is. But when
your job is the presentation of visual media,
because I'm a projectionist, when that's your
job, you see things that other people don't see,
and then that just slowly permeates over into
the rest of your life. The only time I'm not
aware of what I'm watching, of the method that
I'm... viewing something is when I'm playing
a game because I'm actively engaged in what's
going on versus being like a passive observer
of a movie I might get bored with a movie and
be like okay how does this part of the scene
look how does that part of the scene look but
a video game I'm constantly involved in it so
I don't really notice a whole lot of stuff happening
that might be a testament to the quality of the
movie you're watching as well like if it's a
good enough movie it should be able to suck you
in Hopefully make you forget about other side
elements. If it's boring and crappy then you're
going to think about whatever. Right. The first
thing I did when I got the TV home and I hooked
it all up is I put in the Dark Knight because
that was one of the first Blu -rays I put in
the Samsung TV I had and it was the first and
as soon as I put that in the Samsung TV and I
watched a particular scene I was like oh boy
that looks awful. The rest of the movie looked
great. This one scene looked awful, and it showed
me the limitations of that type of a TV. And
so the first thing I did was throw the Dark Knight
in on this TV, and it didn't have any of those
problems. And I was like, oh, thank you. That's
like my gauge when I try out new electronic devices
popping in that Blu -ray. Yeah, there's a couple
that I put in, but that one, it showed an imperfection.
in the Samsung TV because it was an edge -lit
design, and I wanted to see if the rear, a rear
projection, a rear projected light source would
fix it, and it did. I was really happy with it.
So, anyways, I'm done babbling on about this
stuff. Someone else talk. Yes! Now that we've
lost all but the four kings of the world. I've
discovered how much I enjoy turtles. I've spent
the better half of the week because it's spring
break at school I've been messing with the site
stuff more and then also I've Because I'm taking
acting class or a theater class, whatever Got
the the one like the second scene figured out
of what I'm doing and then the we have to do
a monologue for the end of the class which the
class ends April 30th and it's not that much
further left. So like I've pretty much decided
I'm doing for the monologue thing I'm going to
memorize a scene of the jokers either from Batman
Beyond Return of the Joker during the flashback
scene where he dies or the scene where Where
he's doing the eulogy for Batman in the a man
who killed Batman episode Because you have to
pick like a sequence of dialogue that somebody's
continuously speaking for so many minutes with
No interruption. So has to be like one to two
minutes long. So then you have to find a monologue
and memorize it Yeah, it won't be too hard because
I'll have most of it memorized anyway Because
as soon as I throw out the Joker voice it pretty
much goes to memory if I do it in my regular
voice I won't remember shit That was actually
when I was in college Broadcasting kids kind
of volunteered For when the acting students were
auditioning to get into that program we would
tape their auditions Then sort of play directors
so they would do their monologue and then we
would just come up with something randomly Like
okay now do it in a British accent or do it like
you're speaking just to be personally and It
was basically just the test if they could if
they had it rehearsed exactly it only in that
one way and that was the only way they could
do the monologue or Yeah, see I'm going for the
media program at my college community college
and it's The the theater program is or this one
class anyways a part of the requirement For the
media program and I figured I like voice acting
anyway, so this kind of helps with that area
By learning actual acting so I I use either my
I used my joker voice to memorize the lines and
Then because our first our first dialogue or
monologue that we had to memorize and then recite
I Had to memorize and the first time I sat there
and did it for in the class I used the joker
voice which Not only kind of freaked me out because
I've never done any of those kind of voices in
front of like a large group of people But it
also showed me I could do the voice and then
I when I did it for the actual presentation of
it I changed the voice from that to case a case
them Well because I was trying to figure out
a way to not look at people and I was like well
I can pretend I'm I can talk on a microphone
and Then I can hold a blank piece of paper and
act like I'm reading off the paper So that's
what I changed the voice to so that I didn't
have to actually look at people when I did it
now I don't really care so much, but It's it
was just it was funny doing that But uh, yeah,
so that's that's what I've been doing I was trying
to narrow it down to a scene and Blanchard's
like you should do the part where waspinator
quits the the Predacons and Beast Wars and I'm
like, it's not long enough So I couldn't do it
plus it I don't really want to do a high -pitched
voice where everybody's going, hey. Like, what
did you say? So yeah, I've been doing that. And
then iTunes contacted me to, I don't know if
I mentioned it last week or not, but it may have
come up later, but I had to make 1400 by 1400
iTunes art for Legends of the Dark Knight because
they wanted to feature it in iTunes or they're
in the process of featuring it. So I thought
that was kind of neat But also in doing so I
looked up all of the geek cast radio shows on
iTunes and all of them had a blank label for
the picture other than the ones that were already
at 1400 by 1400 so I Had to make new art for
all the damn shows It won't be too difficult
for that. I had to resize images that were like
200 by 200 and 300 by 300 because I refused to
jump to the 600 sized art when they did that
and the 900 art. And then when they moved to
the 1400, I still refused to do it until they
started not showing the images anymore. So I,
it was just a, I don't, you know, like a giant
middle finger to iTunes because it was irritating
me. Because every couple of months or years they
change the standard so I just keep making them
in 300 by 300 just because Even though now I
have to do the other When I when I was doing
stuff I was getting emails telling me to do art
and 14 by 14 1400 by 1400 and the FAQ for iTunes
is said 1400 by 1400 for a few years now because
of the the retina displays Yeah, I know that
it's been around for probably like two three
years I just it was a blatant disregard and a
giant middle finger because I didn't want to
have to do it. Oh I totally understand that because
I already had all the art at 300 by 300 and I
didn't want to have to resize everything but
then Now that they're not actually they weren't
actually showing up in iTunes anymore. I kind
of was forced to do it Because now if I want
them featured in iTunes they have to be that
size so And I figured if they can't take me for
one might as well do them all That's the spirit.
Yeah, so I got all those done Also got to use
I get to try out Microsoft's one drive Which
is kind of like Dropbox, but they give you a
lot more space for free I Have 114 gigs from
them for two years for free before they knock
it down to like half so I'm currently dumping
all the archives of GeekCast Radio stuff off
my hard drive onto that. And it'll still sync
on my computer in a separate folder to the OneDrive,
but I figured as a way of... Because a lot of
times on my breaks or slow times at work, I mess
with all the site stuff or the podcast or the
art or whatever. And rather than have... Because
I've run into the issue where I have About five
to six different copies some of them older some
of them newer some of them the same of particular
files in various hidden folders of each other
that Make no sense how many copies I have of
things between my computer my flash drives and
my work computer. So I Figured this was a way
to synchronize everything and not have it Double
overlap so But I like the one drive I think it's
actually I kind of almost like it better than
sky Dropbox if it weren't for the fact that it's
slower with its upload and download speeds. Yeah
Is that a setting that you can tweak not really
I mean it lets you, and it could be because I'm
uploading such a massive amount. I had 39 gigs
I was uploading to it at one point. But it seems
like even a 100 megabyte file, when I'm uploading
that to it, it still takes longer than Dropbox.
So I'm not quite sure why. I mean I know it bulk
uploads to and you can uncheck it for better
performance. but it's still not any faster. It's
kind of weird, but I like the overall presentation
and the way that it's done better than Dropbox
in that sense. Plus, it seems like Dropbox seems
to have this issue where files just miraculously
disappear sometimes when nobody's deleted them.
Unless somebody's you know doing something they
don't understand so I got tired of losing certain
files What might have been happening with Dropbox
if someone like you might not have to delete
it But if you don't copy something on a Dropbox
like if you drag something out of the folder
to your desktop It removes from Dropbox like
it has to be in that folder for it to Which could
be, um, because, you know, we all share the one
GeekCash radio folder in Dropbox, so certain
files were just coming up missing constantly,
so I just stopped using it. Sorry, guys. We're
having fun over here. Stop looking at videos.
I'm telling you, okay, we have to move on with
this. I am bored to tears. I love you too. I
love you too deeply. stab you in the throat um
so uh i guess we should jump to like maybe the
4g 5g thing because since they're they're already
because that's not any less geeky yeah you know
what i just want my cell phone to work i would
like speed that i'm supposed to be paying for
to actually work and happen mind you i live north
of toronto aka in the middle of the friggin nowhere
Ontario, Canada. We ride like moose and polar
bears in school. I'm in an igloo right now. I
get relatively decent speed. I'm almost consistently
LTE for data. And it comes down pretty fast,
all things considered. I can surf Facebook, Twitter,
email. I can even watch videos from YouTube with
almost no buffering the odd time. I've actually
sat in parking lots and watched Netflix shows.
We have relatively no difficulty in almost the
middle of nowhere. But sometimes I'll go to a
larger city and my signal will suck. Yeah, we
have better internet up here than I have down
in Hickville. Which is funny because you live
right near some of the big telecom hubs, but
not near cell phone towers, which is funny. There's
a lot of cottages where I live as well, like
the Americans will come. up there during the
summertime, so you think they would improve the
internet and possibly install cable, but nope.
Which is kind of weird, because where I grew
up, for example, is in northern Ontario, and
we're near the second largest white sand beach
in the world, but it's called Sobble Beach. And
cell signal up there is absolutely atrocious,
and we have movie stars come there on vacation
for the summer. It always blows my mind about
why the technology has not caught up Up there.
I mean like if I can have LTE in the middle of
butt fuck, Ontario Why is it not in a major tourist
destination? Respond! So how inside baseball
do we want to get with this since we're boring
the two of us? Just surface. Super light man,
super light. Well, I just think this is it this
is just a Joke thing. I I mean obviously it's
coming. I mean everything there's always a nice
evolution of something. It's just I hate when
You see this all over techno all over in the
technology circuit like we talked earlier about
you know, like the I have a 4k TV, but there's
very little content for it outside of like Netflix
and stuff Not even blu -rays no no blu -rays
4k yet like there isn't a 4k It is not it's not
it is is remass it is a It is remastered to a
4k print and then pressed down to 1080p No, it's
not now there is there now there may be extra
detail or coloring in there because it's coming
from a better It's being compressed from a better
source But it is not a 4k file. It's it's still
playing at 1080p And I like I have the 4k Robocop
and I have the 4k Ghostbusters It's just the
they basically what the studio did they paid
for a 4k remaster of something That's what they're
using for all of their sources or for like the
foreseeable future so anyways There there really
isn't any 4k content out there, but here's the
thing like We can't even get Cable Comcast X
Fendi, whatever you want to call it AT &T you
verse Verizon and Time Warner, whatever you want
to call it. They can't even deliver 1080p content
over cable They can do 720p and 1080i, but nobody
can do 1080p yet like and yet here we have 4k
TVs that are gonna struggle with content outside
of like a blu -ray disc or streaming 4k through
like Netflix or Amazon like We have a Not a medium,
but like a technology that hasn't caught up with
The entire broadcast industry is now like at
least two generations behind because like I said
nobody's doing 1080p yet except for the streaming
guys Which make the cable companies look really
bad Now That that's kind of what's happening
here with the cell phone thing, you know 3g Which
everyone remembers just from like the iPhone
became 3g became like a thing with the eye with
the second generation iPhone You know, we kind
of we were kind of all that standard has been
hit and exceeded but 4g Was rushed out the door
before it was even ready to go and with the cell
phone carriers and they all adopted 4G except
for people in the know actually call it faux
G Because it doesn't live up to its promise and
LTE and 4G are actually the exact same thing.
It's just they It's just it's dumb they the So
LTE is more or less supposed to be what it's
actually supposed to be and 4g is the halfway
marker Yeah, essentially, but they're they're
the same. They're the same tech both of them
are supposed to offer 100 megabits per second
while moving so driving your car down the expressway,
you're supposed to get 100 megabits per second
and We talked about this off off air for a second.
We get like 50 and now they've now they're proposing
The next generation of this which is 5g, you
know, probably have some wicked cool name like
LTE That's 10 gigabits per second But yet we
can't even get one gigabit internet to the home
yet anywhere except for if you have Google Fiber
Yeah, what I have to say about all this technology
jibber -jabbering. I love tech Where's my flying
car? I have an electric car. I don't need your
flying car. You can have that. He doesn't use
gasoline. This is just another example of that.
Technology is moving faster than the people that
create the hardware. This is kind of different,
right? So the hardware isn't available to support
this stuff. So theoretically, they can throw
out any number they want because no hardware
is ever going to accept this. They could say
5G was like 20 gigabits per second. At the end
of the day, what's weird here is cell phone service,
the data you get on your phone, they never tell
you how fast it's going to be. They're just like,
you get on the LTE network. I've never seen AT
&T or Verizon tell you how fast their networks
are. You can find it if you can dig for it, but
they never tell you how much it is. It's weird
because when you buy internet service, you pay
for a speed. It's kind of interesting to me.
Yeah, I mean I hope that it I hope that it I
hope that it happens, but it's Yeah, I'm not
Also if we were this I'm sorry Steve this article
was this article also goes on to say that No
network in their right mind is gonna pay for
these upgrades if they're not gonna get new customers.
Oh Yeah, I mean just because you have the technology
theoretically ready to go There's still a hardware
cost associated with that, maintenance costs,
transition costs, and that's years of dedicated
work. That's not just as simple as walking in
and replacing a rack. You know what it's going
to be though. It's going to be, and I'm not saying
this because I'm an Apple fanboy or anything,
it's going to be a company like Apple who puts
this in their phone first and forces the carriers
to move over. Because say what you want about
Apple. They they make people do things. They
don't market. They really do. Like just just
as an example, like an aside here, my sister
is my sister's diabetic and she's she's always
asked me like, why can't my I don't know the
hardware for this stuff. She's like, why can't
my glucose monitor be my iPhone? Like, why can't
this thing transmit my information to my iPhone?
And she looked into it for that, though. Well,
because I'm diabetic, too. Well. There are apps,
she's looked into it because there's something,
at least down here, there's something with the
FDA. And they were getting in the way of that.
She couldn't, there was not a product she could
get in the US that would talk to her phone. It
would go, it could go to a website and then down
to her phone, but the pump could not talk directly
to her phone. And that's since Apple started
this whole health kit. thing in the last year,
that's like gone right out the window. Like there
are now she will be able to get a pump that will
be able to talk directly to her phone later this
year. And I have to think that's because Apple
started getting in the health game and Apple
has a lot of money to throw around. Well, yeah,
because like Apple has so much dominance over
the mobile market. I mean, and Androids. Taking
a very very strong heart right punch at them,
but Apple it's part of It's just part of the
consciousness of the consumer for a cell phone.
You think cell phone your first thought is iPhone
Well, I also think I think it goes a little bit
beyond just beyond the whole the brand recognition
I think it comes down to the platform too. I
think that because apple keeps everything you
know as a public -facing company apple keeps
everything locked down like nobody can play with
their phones unless apple says you can play with
their phones unlike like an android phone where
you've got five different manufacturers using
god knows how many different versions of android
that you know google might not be supporting
anymore with who knows what on them like that's
scary like i can understand like They don't have
they can't they don't Google doesn't have something
they can present to the FDA or these people and
say This is this is secure because chances are
it's only going to be the next devices that do
that But people are gonna there's no way they're
gonna let a Samsung Galaxy phone do that You
know, like the iPhone is an iOS is just such
a different platform. I Think it's just easier
to see Apple. It's easier for Apple to be like
this is why it works on our platform Like But
that and money Having more money than anybody
else that says a lot So So yes moving on to more
fun things for some people in the room Yeah,
there was an article about Star Trek, which again,
this concept can be applied to pretty much anything,
but they brought up the fact that a way to save
Star Trek is give it kind of the true detective
or American Horror story kind of thing. So the
anthology treatment. Yes. But would you want
that? I mean, I was I mean, we kind of have to
like. I think you'd have to see how it went as
an experiment first. As a series like Netflix
or Hulu should try it. Well, see, I know Heroes
was... See, here's the... This is the slippery
slope you have here, right? Because Heroes, the
original idea for it was to be an anthology series.
But fans fell in love with certain characters
that... Oh, came back to life in Season 2? Well,
that and, uh, Hero wasn't... You know, he was...
They were just those characters it was supposed
to be an entirely new set of characters in the
second season and people fell in love with the
with the characters from the first season and
It turned into what it was So it's it's just
one of those things it's like You just run the
risk of alienating an audience. That's one of
the things I praise about the BBC shows that
I watch, especially like Doctor Who. They recast,
essentially. A lot of BBC series, even their
comedy shows, stuff like The Office and a lot
of stuff Ricky Drew Base works on, it's sort
of planned out. to be an exact amount of episodes
and last a certain amount of time. It's not made,
and a lot of anime is like this too, it's not
made to just keep going forever. Whereas in American
shows there's this expectation that you keep
it going until people don't like it anymore.
poses the question do you think that with having
shows kind of not really have a set and you know
limited amount of episodes whether it be per
season or per series that it kind of just forgets
what the hell it started out to be nine times
out of ten usually i think with star trek for
example if they want to do the anthology thing
Maybe keep it set at one location To start like
everybody starts at Starfleet Academy See what
happens with it. Maybe change ships. Maybe you
could follow one crew member around I would love
a sci -fi anthology series, but not necessarily
Star Trek just that kind of a show like a Star
Trek ish show but that that cable style of like
10 to 13 episodes and then wrap everything up
at the end of it. What if, what if Star Trek
was an anthology series where each season was
from a different alien race? That'd be kind of
cool. Or it's one event and each season is showing
it from a different perspective. Sort of like,
let's say the Klingons go to war, you see it
from the queue and the Klingons are never in.
That'd be cool. That that's kind of like start
the recent Starcraft, right? Yeah Or here's one
one from one or each season could be from a different
era Like you can see one from the classic era
the Abrams first TNG or the current universe,
I guess Hell imagine a mirror universe season
Literally. Hey, we're evil. I Mean there is 50
years of trek and again, it doesn't necessarily
have to apply to only Star Trek But I think that
that may be the direction to go to kind of give
it a clean slate without really giving it a clean
slate I think the films Did kind of pump energy
back to it, but I don't think it's the right
kind of energy I don't know that I just I don't
know that I agree with that. I mean Yeah, it's
not it's not it's not Star Trek. Well, I'm not
even arguing the fact that Abrams made Star Wars
and in Star Trek, I'm because I've beat that
with a dead horse. I'm more so saying and I granted
I think it could have been better had Paramount
CBS actually given Abrams the reins to actually
do a TV show. But I think that what hurts Star
Trek is because this the bulk of the the progression
and story and the character development is in
the series Whereas in the film they're trying
to squeeze all this stuff into two and a half
hours And it just it doesn't really translate
well well They're kind of assuming you already
know who these people are well true, but but
we don't know who these new characters are Another
thing, too, is you look at Star Trek the way
it was in the 90s, the 80s, and the very early
2000s, sci -fi has changed and matured a lot
in that time. And I think of shows like, say,
Battlestar Galactica and Fringe, and some of
those shows that started treating their audiences
a little bit smarter. If Star Trek stuck to Mystery
of the Week, like a lot of the classic episodes
were, be like, hey, there's an anomaly on this
planet, let's send it away team, Rikers love
subplot, Data gets a cat, whatever. I don't think
that type of TV is gonna resonate with a new
audience. You need to tell us that's a little
bit smarter. That type of TV barely registers
with me now. Yeah, especially with the fact that
cable... has really, really taken off in the
last few years with stuff like Walking Dead and
Game of Thrones. It's not a niche audience anymore.
Well, kind of what's happened is it's given TV
like almost film budget to play around with.
And it's kind of helped TV grow to a new standard,
which, again, I'm not saying that, you know,
I'm not saying that Trek was great. back when
it was on yes they were memorable and in great
episodes but that's what they were is pretty
much standalone episodes yeah there was an overarching
like um gradual character development and in
story subplot going on but it was a lot of the
time it just there was a lot of garbage and throwaway
episodes and stuff that if they would have just
shortened it to shorter episodes and given it
a higher budget instead of making you know, 30
episodes a season, we could have ended up with
something as great as the stuff that we've gotten
in recent years. Yeah, like, for example, I'd
like to have 8 out of 10 episodes be fantastic
instead of having maybe, I don't know, say 8
to 10 episodes out of a 24 season order, or 24
episode season order. Like, it's a lot of throwaway,
it's a lot of who gives a shit. And that's one
thing, I mean, me and Steve, we're pretty hardcore
truckies, and we do Future Imperfect, but not
everything's a winner. And if you took it more
seriously, like Dave said, like, Walking Dead,
Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, whatever, I'd
rather have smaller seasons that have more impact,
and give me more character, than here's a whimsical
episode about a fucking holodeck. I think if
they were going to revive Trek for TV audiences,
I think they'd have to, one, you'd have to consider
the setting for the story. Personally, I think
it'd have to take some place between Enterprise
and the original series because you'd want that
edgier Wild West vibe going on. Kind of like
the original was back when it came out. More
exploration kind of. You'd want more exploration
less Diplomacy so to speak right you'd want that
or or you'd want it set after the next generation,
but with some type of intergalactic war Yeah,
kind of like Game of Thrones in space you yeah,
you would you would need fighting each other
Well, you could almost take like the point of
where Star Trek online. You know Like, almost
25th century, almost. Yeah, you need to be able
to set it up for some type of gritty conflict.
You know what? Give me section 31. There's your
show. Mix, like, Homeland with Star Trek. Do
you think audiences would be okay with making
Star Trek more 18 -plus rated if you were to
move this cable? Like, if you actually included
Doody in... I don't think that's necessary. I
don't think it would translate very well to Trek.
I think that it's more relying on its characters
and its intelligence level. But then again, think
about the romance subplots you could really carry
forward. You could, but again, you could kind
of pull it... You don't have to throw it in there
to insinuate that it's happening. There's other
things that I think that they could focus better
on if they were going to do it with Trek or really
with anything. I think that part of the problem
too is with reviving it is you'd almost need
to start out fresh with an entirely new crew
and not... dwell on anything from the past. I
mean, yeah, you could borrow the aliens and,
you know, referencing some things that happened
if you were going to... There's no more Kirk
bones or... Yeah, I mean, don't recast them,
don't rehash them, just move on. Yeah, I completely
agree, because you know what? That generation
that grew up with those characters, they're kind
of moving on, shuffling off the mortal coil,
so to speak. What if there was a series about...
uh con that might be kind of or have him as like
a reoccurring bad guy or a series that takes
place during uh the war that con fought in was
it the eugenics war the eugenics war yeah well
i mean you could even i mean and and that's again
kind of playing into the idea of you could have
each season be something different kind of like
the you know the american horror story and all
that kind of stuff you know a different theme
for each season and covering a different set
of characters every season so that it's not rehashing
the same crap over and over. Or you could do
the whole World War III thing or surviving after
World War III. I mean, you could have the eugenics
war. You could have the birth of Warp Drive and
the Federation. No, you can't undo the first
concept. You have to leave that alone. I meant
after. I just want to see them make that episode
and be like it's just a blank screen that says
insert first contact here. That'll just be the
second season right there. First contact. The
best thing about an anthology series like that
too is that you're free to do whatever you want
without worrying about consequences into the
second season. So like a show with Like Pargo
or American's horror story for instance they
freely kill off any character that they feel
like killing off because there's no Contractual
thing of like they have to come back for season
two so you can't kill Well, that's not entirely
true wise there That's not entirely true anymore
with American Horror Story Yeah, that's a bad
example. Freak Show is now tied to Asylum. Half
of the actors have been in every season. Well,
that's different. I'm saying characters that
were in Asylum showed up in Freak Show. Oh, okay.
I didn't know that. I haven't seen Freak Show
yet. So good. That's the other thing, too. American
Horror Story stands apart from the rest of these
because the same actors come back, they just
play different characters. I don't think you
could do... I think that's what people are talking
about. I think that was Star Trek, people. I
can see people getting really pissed with that.
I think that's why... He was a Klingon. What's
going on? Not that I think about it. I think
that's why the article referenced True Detective
because it is a true anthology series. No returning
actors. Yeah, it's just a complete redo at every
season. Same thing with Fargo as far as I know.
Yeah, that's the only thing I didn't quite care
for of American Horror String. It actually bothers
my wife, too, of the fact that they keep recycling
the same actors over and over. I mean, granted,
they play different parts and may look different,
but it's the same actors over and over. So like
you're constantly thinking about their previous
character. So I think that I think that if they're
gonna do it just a complete route, you know,
basically reboot every season would be sufficient
Are there any other classic shows you think that
would work under this particular model? I Think
heroes is gonna try it. I hope so I think that's
what the heroes reborn is it it had good potential
when it was out the first time and it's just
like you said they people get too attached and
then they Just kind of went with it instead of
doing what they were gonna do a lot of like the
series like I Love the series that I get mad
at because I just think they're so blah like
blacklist. I think a benefit from 13 episode
seasons It happens quite often all of them though,
that's that's the problem I think and and you
get Lot of good episodes, but then you get a
lot of the subpar and it's with every series.
It's not even Narrowing it down arrow. I think
it's a pass because if you think about it arrow
is essentially two TV shows in one Because you
get the island and you get the present day So
base and I think at the end of the end of the
day that comes down to 13 and 13 Arrow not so
much with the the first season was a little bit
more episodic But by this point every episode
is vital to the overall part of the series. You
can't miss an episode at this point. Right. I'm
just saying, like, the way it breaks down. It's
the same with Flash. You kind of almost have
to watch all that, too. I have noticed... ABC
has done this. I feel like... ABC's done it with
a couple shows. I know Once Upon a Time was one.
I was trying to think of another one. I think
NBC might have picked up on this. They're doing
full season orders for shows, right? 22 episodes.
but they're breaking them up into part one and
part two. So the first 11 episodes. I hate that.
I'm still waiting for part two of Mad Men. Well,
I mean, I'm not. But that's that's a cable thing.
This is broadcast. So they kind of give it like
they kind of change the theme and the villains
by the midseason. Exactly. There's a there's
an arc to the first 11 episodes that gets wrapped
up. And then when you come back after the midseason
break, there's another arc to finish out the
season. It's not it's not wait six months for
the rest of it. It's I thought you were talking
about how they split stuff in half No, I I feel
like I know ABC picked up on that I feel like
another another show that I watched did that
is like they she'll did it did it Basically,
yeah. Well, they do it they kind of do it. So
it has like a mini climax at the midseason Yeah,
once upon a time And then they have the big climax
at the end Once upon a time last season did it
did it differently so I shield I feel like shield
does that did the mini climax and then right
but I but once upon a time was definitely like
here's the climax for the first half of the season
and it's a big it's a big doozy that tails off
into basically what could be an entire other
12 episodes and it is but it's an entirely different
story I know there's another show that I watched
that did that, but I can't remember what it was.
I think that's interesting if you break it into
two parts like that. Well, Heroes kind of did
that with Season 4, I think. I don't remember
a whole lot of Heroes that wasn't Tyler. Season
3 had like two completely separate storylines
in it, and the second one was way better than
the first, in my opinion. Well, one might have
been coarser. That was a while ago. I'm trying
to think of other shows. Yeah, I don't know.
The thing is I watch a lot of shows right now
that are 13 episodes. There's very few that I
watch that are full. I wonder if you could almost
do that with, like, say... And this would just
be in creating other shows, but... Like superhero
groups, you could almost do that with, even.
Well, actually, me and Dave were talking about
this earlier. We recorded a bunch of DVD commentaries
today for... the Marvel movies, and we're thinking,
we're just kind of spitballing here, like, now
in Agents of S .H .I .E .L .D. they're setting
up Inhumans, which is like four years down the
road for its movie, and there's a possibility
Inhumans could be the series finale in Agents
of S .H .I .E .L .D. Or the finale will lead
into that movie, kind of. And we're thinking,
what if they just created one Marvel show, call
it Marvels, have the entire universe involved
and if you want to do a different team or different
hero each episode or whatever or each season
yeah like follow here we're gonna follow daredevil
this year we're gonna follow the Punisher or
I don't know night thrasher from the new warriors
or something well you can almost do that as a
way to introduce characters too Each season and
then like you could build up to having like maybe
like, you know an X -Men team or an Avengers
team or Well a Justice League and then having
them all like maybe come back for a season. That's
what they're together. That's what the Netflix
series are It's um, there's there's Daredevil
there's Jessica Jones there's iron fist and Luke
Cage and there's gonna be a fifth season called
the defenders So they're already doing that.
It's just okay. It's just not on TV agents of
shield never lived up to at least what I thought
it was going to be and The only reason I say
that is because what I was basing the whole idea
on and I'm pretty sure I brought this up before
I highly recommend it because it might change
people's opinions on on agents of shield there
was a prequel comic to Avengers like there was
a is either six or eight issues a Prequel comic
to the first Avengers movie And basically it
was what Agent Coulson and Nick Fury were doing
during all of these movies. The whole behind
the scenes thing, it shows where the gun, like
him making, they took the Annihilator and made
the gun that he shoots Loki with. They show that
being developed and how Coulson got that. all
this all this really cool nifty stuff and agents
of shield has never lived up to that comic book
that six issue comic book agents shield has never
lived up to it and it's because they're not they're
not willing to let the big guys play in the little
sandbox that is tv uh or the big guys don't want
to play um although i i do think you'll see dr
strange in one of the netflix series i do think
you'll see that Because Benedict Cumberbatch
is a TV actor as well as a movie actor All right,
I yeah, I just have lots of problems they just
shield Disagree I think aspects of it have gotten
I can't even see the TV show to be honest with
you. It's too dark You know what that's to to
cover up for right the lack of money Yeah, yeah,
I know I was talking with the other last I was
watching I was like these guys look like they're
like at Sears portrait studios All I can see
are their faces There's nothing behind them No,
okay, there are projects that work within those
constraints But this is way different. The first
season of SHIELD was extremely well lit. You
could see the sets and everything. This one is...
You could tell they slashed the budget to keep
it on air. That's my big problem with season
two. They cut a lot of corners. And the whole
inhuman storyline, I feel like they effed themselves
up with that one. Because that movie is so far
away, if they don't keep the inhuman storyline
up, this season will have been pointless. And
because they they had to move they already had
to push it back again like another year I think
it's actually like five or six years out because
of the whole spider -man business So I'm pretty
sure that f -ed up. I wouldn't be I wouldn't
be surprised to see them like Dovetail away from
the inhumans thing not to mention I heard that
season two was supposed to dovetail into Age
of Ultron Which if that's the case, oh my lord
Agents of shield the first season had winter
soldier to Pick it up and give it a purpose They
make it good. Yeah this season two doesn't have
that like age of Ultron is not going to save
Season two of agents of shield it has to stand
on its own It doesn't need it because you know
what the Marvel license is so powerful, Agents
of S .H .I .E .L .D. keeps Marvel on the forefront.
If I was a TV executive, as long as the Marvel
movies are making bank, I'm financing a series.
Well, here's the problem. They haven't renewed
Agent Carter yet, and the ratings for that one
weren't that good. You'll see that at the network
up front or closer to May. I like Agent Carter
actually, I think even more than Agents of S
.H .I .E .L .D. And I like the idea of doing
mini -series like that instead of... A full show
or anything? Episode season yeah, that was a
nice break for shield having shield and then
having something right away I think that although
by the time shield came back. I completely forgot
what had happened in the last episode I was like
they better have a extra long previously on section
in this one. Well the thing is like three months
Agent Carter had worse ratings than agents of
shield so Which is be funny because I actually
watched that one when it was live instead of
I would not be surprised to see them both get
canceled. I would not I'll be more surprised
if they're renewed You know, you think you think
it you think that but they don't They like making
money more than they just like floating a project
So speaking it's good PR all things considered
I don't they don't need it They don't need it
to help with their movies at all. It does not
benefit them It doesn't do anything for them
that the mother to the kind of Netflix series
Because you're going to a very small subscriber
and it's not just that it's with TV. They're
trying to make money off of advertisers paying
x amount of money to put a commercial during
this program based on x amount of numbers of
people that are watching, so... As long as the
ratings are okay... I said I have unpopular opinions.
They're also promoting a property they own. I
just wouldn't be surprised to see it get cancelled.
Now, do you think Gotham will get cancelled?
I don't think so because... No, it was renewed
already. It was renewed. Oh, okay. My parents
watch Gotham. It's way too popular. I can't I
don't like Gotham is another show that this is
an unfair This is unfair No, not unpopular opinion,
this is an unfair comparison I was expecting
Gotham to be Boardwalk Empire of Batman characters
Garbage only all over the place and it just it
can't find its footing in that sense like it's
I the show that doesn't know what it is I want
to like the show because of what it's referencing
to everything but it's so far out in the timeline
game that I just never gonna get your payoff
I yeah I don't see it coming it's like to me
it's just kind of lost its luster to me anyway
the one thing that can save Gotham If in season
2 or season 3 they do a major time jump and age
all of the characters like five ten years Yeah,
five ten years instead of having it happen right
after this season so that you can get to like
Batman like Batman as like a teenage teens early
college years kind of age Instead of just Batman
being 12 then 13 then 14 See, Batman or Gotham
is an interesting experiment that I don't think
they thought more than this current season out
of. Especially because they keep throwing every
Batman character onto one season. Instead of
shows like Arrow and The Flash, they're teasing
stuff and they're... They're waiting to get into,
like, the bigger characters and whatnot. Batman
is just like, here's every Batman character,
all at once! Well, the thing that pisses me off
about Arrow is it's wanting to be Batman. That
doesn't even bother me. I don't mind it. I mean,
because I do pull it off really well. I love
Arrow, so I don't mind that at all. My thing
that irritates the shit out of me about that
show is the fact that they're constantly pulling
from the Batman rogues gallery. Well, that's
it's not really the Batman rogues gallery it
pretty much is like arrow doesn't have as big
of a gallery as Batman and Batman pretty much
fights anybody but again DC like or arrow is
more just pulling from the rogues that will face
off against Not sure. Yeah people like well like
anyone they'll face off against anyone within
the DC universe like in the DC comics Rachel
ghoul isn't just a Batman villain I realize that
but like some of the stuff that they're doing
with him and with the the whole A lot of these
plot lines with some of these villains. It's
very batman -esque and it's If you know that
and have seen it in the stuff it bothers Like
yeah, I don't I don't find that at all. But I
was an era of a green arrow fan before watching
the show so Yeah, I see it more from that perspective
Can I just say how crazy it's going to be if
Flash can pull off Grodd? Yeah. I think they
will. I'm looking forward to the Grodd story.
No, I am too. It's going to be amazing if they
can pull it off. If it's anything like the latest
Planet of the Apes movie, I doubt it. I would
be more than happy. We shall see. Dawn of the
Planet of the Apes kicked ass. Oh no, it did.
I like the New Apes movies. I'm just saying I
wouldn't expect that. I think that's going to
be a feat to pull off. I think so too, because
it's such an unusual villain. That's what I love
about it though. They're taking a risk. Yeah,
they're taking a risk with something really bizarre,
which is my problem with Gotham. I feel like
they're playing it safe with a lot of stuff.
They're just going with the characters you already
know and love. Well, it's the same reason why
you're never gonna see fucking man back in the
show. Oh, just too bad. I love man back. My real
problem with Gotham is just, I've said this from
the beginning and I say it mostly out of joking.
I've stopped watching Gotham, by the way. I stopped
after the break. I've got the whole PBR though.
The way the show is being set up and the characters
they're introducing, it just makes me feel like
adult Batman is just beating up a bunch of old
people. Yeah, well, that's the joke I've made.
I feel like I'm a Steve and a Blanchard. I'm
the Riddler! You're old enough for the senior
citizen discount. Sit the fuck down. Don't wonder
why you have a cane. Exactly. Or the penguin.
He's worried about getting a sunburn. And he's
so old. Like seriously, go home. It'll be Batman
fighting people at the retirement home. It will
be Batman 66. It'll be Batman fighting people
in their 60s. I mean, I like, I do like Batman
as a character. I think he's great. He's one
of my favorite superheroes, but you can have
bad Batman properties. Yeah. And I actually love
a lot of the cast members of Gotham as well.
Like Robin Taylor Lorder there. Yeah. What what
turned me off the most of Gotham was the complete
180 in one episode that Bullock took towards
Gordon Like he went from being like I'm you know
I'm gonna kill you if you step out of line or
you turn your back on me to you know Yeah, in
one episode. I was like what? Okay And it's a
show that doesn't know what it wants to be. And
I don't know if it's because they have too many
writers or... So bringing this back to where
it was, Star Trek, how to save it, what not,
I just think it needs to be planned. I don't
think you can wing it. And I would like to see
a 13 episode structure. I agree. You know what
show, I was actually kind of thinking about this
because we're mentioning other shows. That may
work or may benefit from this formula. I think
anything Detective baseball like I was thinking
about this area. I'm a huge fan of the Veronica
Mars property. I think that could work There
has been talks of bringing it back But not by
much They're probably waiting to see how it does
in terms of DVD sales. I would love to see it
come back, but not, yeah, not like a full 22
episodes. Yeah, just give me 10 and I'm cool
with that. Another show or another movie property.
There's been talk about this for the last couple
of years. It's the Friday the 13th franchise.
And they're talking about doing a show called
Crystal Lake Chronicles. Jason's just a recurring
villain or background character. But you get
a group of teenagers and it's supernatural happenings
around Camp Crystal Lake or Camp Blood or whatever.
I don't think that should be 22 episodes, but
a 13 episode miniseries? That could work. Well,
I love Bates Motel, so if a Friday the 13th show
is anything like that, like the The level of
cheesy, fun awesomeness that Bates will tell
is, I would be totally down for that. I mean,
you can even do Nightmare on Elm Street if you
wanted to, because they tried to do that with,
like, Freddy's Nightmares in the late 80s. And
Freddy actually appeared in, like, four episodes.
But he hosted each one. But it was a different
anthology. Like, it was a different story each
week. Like Tales from the Crypt? Exactly like
Tale of... Man, that's another show that should
make a fucking comeback. Or Twilight Zone. Just
that kind of show. Those would actually kind
of fit well nowadays. Are You Afraid of the Dark?
Oh my god, if you could make that... Well, considering
the level of acceptable violence that can now
appear on TV, you could do some really interesting
things with Are You Afraid of the Dark or Goosebumps?
I would love to just see a horror anthology show.
Goosebumps is a movie. I thought Goosebumps was
coming back to TV too. I'm not sure about the
TV, but I know about the movie. I just want to
see a horror or anthology show like The Twilight
Zone, or Tales from the Crypt, where every episode
is its own self -contained story, because that
seems to be a complete thing. There was a show
me and Dave watched years ago called Masters
of Horror, and it was on Showtime, and it was
fucking amazing! Like they took like they'd ask
a famous horror director like hey, Toby Hooper.
What are you up to? come out and direct a one
-hour movie and they let them do whatever the
hell they wanted to and Some of them were really
cool. I mean John Carpenter did one Toby Hooper
Robert Englund was in a few Like you know like
the horror genre begs for this and other others
too, but I don't know like I'd like to see more
horror anthology or more sci -fi anthology if
it had to go with a specific genre. But Star
Trek. Or do a horror anthology show where each
episode is based on a different H .P. Lovecraft
story. Oh my god, Steve! Most of his stories
are so short and self -contained you can get
away with that. And they're all kind of in the
same universe anyways, so it would work in that
kind of setting. Is there anything you guys would
want to see? Any TV show or property you'd like
to see take the Sherlock approach Where it's
three episodes that are 90 minutes each Because
the u .s. Doesn't have anything like that We
could do that with Friday the 13th. Yeah, I'd
be cool with that because the movies are each
like an hour and a half. Veronica Mars would
work like that. I can't see it working with a
big property like a Marvel thing because part
of the fun is building the universe around it.
I could almost see them doing that. Maybe with
certain characters like Punisher. Well, I was
gonna say with the new Star Wars movie coming
out I could see them doing that with like some
of the minor characters in the Star Wars universe
Maybe giving them their own hour and a half origin
story kind of thing Well, you can almost do it
teasing up a character to the next movie. Well,
don't forget Sherlock Well, it is you know, each
season is three episodes and they're each 90
minutes long. They are The first and second the
first and third episodes are essentially linked
together while the middle one is a throwaway
story With the exception of the last season where
all three of them were it was one continuous
story from the beginning to the end I Guess it
just depends on how you want to frame it, but
with this with Sherlock. It's they've usually
been Connected it's they're not they you know
there is character development from episode to
episode Just thought about this just right now.
Walking Dead side stories. Well, we're getting
that. Well, I mean more like I want to know about
Merle and Daryl. Oh, okay. Well, because there's
that they ordered two seasons of that spinoff.
Which I hope that doesn't suck, but I've got
my reservations about it. What spinoff? This
is the first I've heard about that. Really? It's
basically the plague as it starts. Oh. when the
zombies rise they're basically right at the beginning
of the plague and uh so 28 days later yeah kind
of kind of except you know that actually that's
a property i would love to see come back as like
a tv series oh my god that series was like and
we were supposed to get 28 months later 28 months
later has been tied up in development hell for
so long though i think I think Danny Boyle said
it's not gonna happen now. I think it's split
between two different parties and they don't
like each other. It's like Danny Boyle and the
guy he co -wrote it with and yeah, I don't know
if they're just not friends anymore or they disagree
on the property. Stop being a bitch. Or just
sell it to someone else who wants to make it.
Please, let that happen. I guess that's more
or less just walking dead anyways. But I think
that about rounds it up. Yeah, I mean, we've
been all over the place from tech to opinion
to... to opinion. I told you I was gonna throw
you some curve balls in here. I've learned a
lot today. As have I. So, before we go... Yes.
So basically, for the question, we can ask, what
show would you give this kind of formula to revive
it? So, since we've already kind of talked it
all out. Anything you guys want to pimp out before
we go? I'm doing a new show, which the latest
episode just came out on the website, called
Bossed Roll. Or it's my RPG stories from Years
past last episode. I talked about what I call
the Moss Isley poutine ery We're basically right
in the game master got you Weapons starships
and setting the Endor on fire You can find out
how that'll end and it up on this week geek .net
I've got nothing Yeah, we've been doing a lot
of movie madness and Mike and I just recorded
a bunch of commentaries So we want out today
actually for Friday the 13th We recorded another
one for the Friday the 13th. That'll have to
be happening in November we did a Avengers commentary
for when that movie comes out and a Jurassic
Park 3 commentary because it's the only Jurassic
Park movie. We haven't commented on yet for Jurassic
World Oh, and Terminator! So I'm not quite sure
what I'm going to have coming down the pipe at
the moment, but as always you can catch me on
the website. If you'd like to interact with us,
you can do so in the following ways. You can
