Steve, Mike Blanchard, and Mike Dodd dig into the latest Super Bowl trailers—Batman v Superman, X-Men: Apocalypse, and more—and discuss what worked and what missed the mark. They debate Marvel's failure to greenlight a Black Widow movie, celebrate Paul Feig's incoming Ghostbusters reboot, tackle the streaming wars and licensing nightmare around Star Trek: Discovery, and pitch their own dream TV revivals for the Netflix era.

You are tuned in to Steve Megatron on Altered

Geek Unlimited. Hello and welcome to Altered

Geek Unleashed episode 125. I'm your host Steve

Megatron Phillips and joining me this episode

are... Nipple rings! I'm Mike Dodd, hi, how are

ya? Yeah, there's the excited Mike, and then

the other one sounded like, how's it going? Yeah,

it's Eeyore. I'm trying to overcome a contact

high, leave me alone. Well, you should be thrilled

as all - You should be happy as - God. I - Dude,

I am not one - Five minutes late. I thought I

was gonna even miss the show next thing. I know

I'm smelling weed in my apartment I'm like, oh

great one of these old People that live in this

building are smoking and it's just everyone the

building non no smoking because we have several

people here who The building I live in it's either

elderly or disabled We have several elderly people

that live here who are on oxygen. You would think

that a building that has people who are on oxygen,

you'd think that everybody else would realize,

oh, hey, we can't smoke in the building. Unless

it's a medical facility, no one cares. Which

is unfortunate, but... Yeah. Is weed legal in

your state? I don't think so. Or just medical

stuff? It's for medical stuff. It's mostly what

it's legal for around the U .S. Guess we'll wait

and see what happens in a couple of months with

that, so... How's everybody doing? Anyhow. Um,

well, I... For my for my classes. We actually

had to watch I don't remember if we I brought

this up last week or not I think we had to watch

Juno. Yes, and right about it. Yeah, which which

next week? Monday we have to watch Little Miss

Sunshine What little bit Little Miss Sunshine.

Oh, that's Sunshine of the Spotless. One of them

films is... This one has like Steve Carell and

it has a bunch of people I can't remember their

names to. It's a garbage movie. Don't like it

at all. See, this is why you should have watched

Sunshine of the Spotless Mine. I don't exactly

know what he's trying to portray by having us

watch this and do the same class assignment other

than it's like a lazy assignment. Unless he's

trying to show you something very, very specific.

He's trying to show us something, but I can't

figure out what it is because... Think he's trying

to show like an ensemble cast like where it's

like a dinner scene type thing But it's a never

-ending one throughout the entire film because

they're always together in this film Oh my god,

so So he could have picked a lot better films,

but anyways this particular one this particular

one He's like has anybody seen this film. I was

the only one that raised my hand And I am tempted

not to go Monday just because, even though I'll

lose 25 points, because I don't want to sit through

that movie again. I don't want to sit through

any more movies. I just want to learn, I want

to write, and I want to get out of the class.

Like, it's not... You need the points, dude.

I'm looking it up right now. It's got a really

good cast. It great. I hate this great kid. I'm

just gonna be honest funny guy when you put them

in the right situation Greg Kinnear Steve Carell

Tony Colette Paul Dano Abigail Breslin and Alan

Arkin are the main Tony Colette she was the woman

from United States of Terror, right? I don't

even know Amazing show you get a chance to watch

it. Seriously. It's I think it's only like three

seasons, but it's totally worth like sitting

through Like I said, I I know the cast is good,

but I don't like the film itself Like a really

shitty script or it's just not your thing It's

not my thing and and none of those the movies

that were shows that we've watched thus far have

I enjoyed in any capacity so That being said

we had to write a gift scene, and then we had

to Have somebody peer review it in class to me

that is the most retarded thing in the world

is peer reviews. This sounds like, here, be an

online critic for five minutes, basically. Yeah,

and being that I read scripts from time to time,

because I win them or I gain them or I purchase

them, I read them a lot. So I know vaguely how

they're supposed to be set up. So anyways, everything

that I have to write in this class from this

point on, because it's all You have to make stuff

up, create the characters, come up with the plot,

blah, blah, blah, blah. I'm basing it off of

my story that I was planning on writing anyhow.

So, like, every element I'm writing for each

one of these scenarios actually will be in the

book itself that I'm plotting out. So, like,

as I have to come up with... Because by the end

of the class we have to write a full, like, pilot

episode script and a feature film script. Oh,

wow. So... These are going to be basically butchered

from these assignments and put back in an entire

film anyhow. So I wrote mine and it's giving

the premise of how a particular character perishes.

It's going to be great because the... the people

that read it were like, oh wow, you killed somebody

in yours, blah, blah, blah, blah. I have already

like, I took my life and basically superimposed

it as if I was successful. That's really sad.

I love it. So, but there's a twist to it. So

like, some of these characters are based in reality

or they're based off somebody or something. No,

you've got a blancher in there, please tell me.

There's no Blanchard. Thank God for that. No

shut up He'll be the the crazy bystander that

gets killed I'm just joking, but uh Just don't

even just just so I'm I'm I'm waiting to get

the grade At this point, but the the people were

like well that was really good and the one I

had to peer review was one of those like It reminded

me of one of those memes that went around of

because I almost swear the dude copy pasted it

he he had one where his it was supposed to be

like a valentine's day thing and the the husband

and wife were together and blah blah blah the

wife's like oh i'm pregnant and he's like oh

that's great he's like but it's not mine and

then she's like what and he's like i had a vasectomy

six months ago And I was like I've read this

somewhere like I don't even know where but I've

read it before I can tell you where I've seen

that from not the fact that she's pregnant but

a whole vasectomy story It was in I think the

third or fourth season of mad about you Paul

and Jamie Paul riser and Helen hunts characters.

They're trying to decide whether to Have a baby

or not have a baby and the whole episode she

keeps having him go back and forth back and forth

to the doctor to either get the vasectomy or

reverse the And Mike you're the only person in

the last like 15 years I've heard ever reference

bad about you. Oh my god. I love I remember the

show title. That's about as far as it goes I

remember Helen Hunt mostly because I've seen

her boobs in a different movie But she's still

goddamn odd for an older lady. That's what everyone

says about Helen Mirren. Okay, wait a second.

You guys might know this. How old is Morena Backron?

Oh, God. Dr. Leslie Tompkins? No clue. She looks

like she's in her 30s, maybe. Okay, cuz like

we were watching cuz she's in Deadpool. She plays

the love interest and I remember 15 years ago

when she was in Firefly She looked goddamn gorgeous

then and I'm thinking okay There must be a room

somewhere where they go where they grow nothing

but clones of her and it does Periodically release

them when they need a woman that looks younger

Because that woman is age remarkably gracefully

Just Wow, that's all I'm saying But anyway. My

week is not as interesting as Steve's in writing

101. I've been playing a shit ton of Fallout.

I've had a really bad lapse with my depression

this past week. That's why a lot of Twig content

slowed down while Mike has mental health week.

Feeling better, by the way. Tacos and Deadpool

will definitely do that for you. I've discovered

how much you can break the game Fallout 4. Now,

I am so ridiculously powerful, nothing in the

game can kill me. I could just stand there, walk

away, come back 20 minutes later, and I'll probably

still be alive. It's kind of ridiculous. What

else? I've also discovered, and Steve, you might

get this, because you're kind of more of a gamer

than Mike, when you switch systems, but you play

a similar game, Do you find your skills are different?

Yeah, speaking of right away, I mean I've played

like Unreal Tournament 3 on both my 360 and my

PC. The 360 I'm better at the game. Whereas I

just I have Battlefield 4 for the PC and for

the 360 as well. I find that I'm better on the

PC reaction time wise compared to the 360. Yeah,

probably because of the different kind of frame

rates and how everything moves. I don't know

if it's the frame rate. I think it's like the

motion on the joystick because I use the keyboard

and the mouse with Battlefield on the computer

and I'm infinitely better because I can spin

that mouse faster and the laser is faster than

my thumb moving on the movement stick on the

controller. See, I'm the complete opposite. I

suck at PC shooters. You put a controller in

my hand? we'll have ourselves a competition.

The reason I bring this up is, like I've talked

about this countless times, I'm a huge Call of

Duty fan, and I'm reviewing the DLC for Black

Ops 3. I know it's like a week late, but I just

got my code. And on Xbox One, I'm pretty good.

I usually finish with my K to D ratio. I'm usually

positive, nine times out of 10. But I played

it on PlayStation 3 and I've never played hardcore

before. Got my ass kicked. Absolutely fed to

me. And it's because the PlayStation controller

just feels different than the Xbox one, because

the Xbox one's bigger and I guess I'm just used

to the button layout. I started playing a little

bit more last night, getting a little more used

to it. But just I hate that learning curve. Like

there's a company in the states there that makes

controllers you can get literally a three You

could get an Xbox controller for a PlayStation

and vice versa. I think the company's called

scuff Like they sponsor like a lot of pro teams

Seriously thinking about dropping some money

in that hopefully in the next few months because

I found out last night my Xbox 360 died Really

yeah, so I'm thinking well, I guess I wanted

a new one anyway, so because Microsoft doesn't

service them or at least my PR contact doesn't

so on the bonus side I can probably get like

a 500 gigabyte for like 150 bucks so whatever

going going what a kick in the face though because

I don't want to lose all my save games I guess

I gotta figure out a way to transport the hard

drive and upload all my saves to the cloud somehow

Going back for a moment. I thought you know the

hard drive comes out, right? Yeah, but not from

the newer models to the older ones Because the

older ones are internals and the newer and the

older ones you can just pop out, right? But the

newer ones are actually inside Mine's one of

the four gigabyte one of the black 360s and there's

just a button you can press on top and just pop

it off on the side Yeah, it's on the fence It

sucks because that means all my Mass Effect characters

I'm gonna have to bring over but Since we're

probably not getting Mass Effect 4 until like

next year. I'm more okay with us than what I

should be But still just damn Plus I think my

Dragon Age characters are on there, too. So How

long ago did firefly come out 2000 2001 I think

Okay, so I found out Because I know her from

Gotham Leslie Tompkins Marina backer got she

was in that show Yeah, she's currently a year

older than me. She's 37 so when she was so well

when she was when she was doing firefly she was

21 Wow Yeah I think she's hotter now than she

was then. Go on, Nara. Anyway. But yeah, so that's

something that I just kind of noticed from Deadpool.

But anyway, oh yeah, so I'll give you guys a

very brief overview of Deadpool. Surprisingly

good, actually. Ryan Reynolds totally nails it.

And he's never obnoxious. It literally sounds

like the comic book is speaking to you. Best

Stan Lee cameo in a movie yet Outside of maybe

spider outside of amazing. Maybe the amazing

spider -man one. I think said almost as good

but this one's funny, um More violent than I

thought it would be Is the Stan Lee cameo more

violent than you thought it would be, or is the

overall movie more violent? Yeah, the overall

movie, the Stan Lee cameo is a lot more hardcore

than I thought it would be. He's in the strip

club. I mean, it's... Exactly, I didn't want

to give it away, but I'm thinking, like... Well,

it's in the trailer! Oh yeah! He says, now, Chastity!

I will say that, I was so impressed with that.

They do make some references to the other X -Men

kind of universes, which is kind of funny. It

does make a couple cracks at Green Lantern. It's

surprisingly solid. I think it's going to be

a fantastic blu -ray when it comes out. I hope

they let Ryan Reynolds do commentary as himself

and then do a Deadpool commentary. That would

be so funny, especially if he's just allowed

to run wild. Well, if he's gonna have a Deadpool

commentary, they should have Deadpool getting

splattered across the screen and then pointing

at stuff and then have somebody animated over

top. Or just have him in a green screen sort

of thing. Yeah, that would be really, really

funny, actually. There are two post -credit sequences,

but they're kind of connected. You have to stay

literally until the very, very, very, very end.

So not like Marvel, where they drop it halfway

through. Like I was wondering if our theater

got it from him looking. Oh my god. Tell me you

got this Um, but like I said, it's surprisingly

funny. I Hope it's strong enough to carry a franchise

Because this movie you could just say it's all

wrapped up But now that he's been established

as part of the larger x -men universe quote unquote

It'll be interesting to see where they take this

so I sincerely hope everyone goes out there and

sees us, because if there's enough support for

an R -rated superhero movie, we could get another

Punisher, we could get Lobo, we could get so

many more R -rated hardcore heroes. So I think

everyone should go out and see it, like trust

me, it's gonna be worth your like 10 bucks. In

a nutshell, there it is. so Since we're on the

movie realm anyhow What were you guys thoughts

on the final Batman v Superman trailer should

have been the first one I liked the last shot

impressed me the most actually the the one where

Where Superman tries to punch Bruce Wayne or

in Batman and Batman stops the fist? Yeah, he's

like shit Yeah, the look on his face. I'm like,

you know what now I'm in Like I just thought

that was really really really cool. I also like

how Alfred is a lot more involved in this Well,

like where he's flying the batwing. Yeah, I'm

thinking man. That's really cool remotely and

just seeing Ben Affleck doing more Batman stuff

as opposed to Bruce Wayne stuff. I Think that's

pretty cool. I think Zack Schneider. I mean he's

burned us before But we'll have to wait and see

I don't know. Maybe this will be his thing that

gets people on his side. I don't know. I can't

say that for sure. But I don't know. I'm getting

more and more optimistic. See, everybody that

I've talked to has said that this should have

been the first trailer. It would have saved three

and a half years of bullshit. Well, they wouldn't

have had all that shot by then. Having Doomsday

in a trailer was a mistake, though. They should

have saved that. But yeah, this should have been

the trailer all along well I wish they had a

more Superman one too where it shows him doing

more Heroic stuff as opposed to just him randomly

rescuing the rocket him Unmasking Batman maybe

have them do more with like Lois or something

And I had saved the reveal of doomsday till the

movie But that would mean that you would have

to save the reveal of Wonder Woman because that's

what they also revealed in in that even if they

gave a Wonder Woman -centric trailer, I'd be

okay with that too, but I don't know how large

a part of the script she is. Yeah. And the other

thing with you wanting a Superman trailer with

him saving people, and that would go against

the premise of the movie, because the premise

of the movie is, oh my god, he's a super bad

alien, he's gonna destroy the Earth, Batman must

save the day! But that kind of ties into, with

the Super Bowl trailers this past week, where

there was the fly Turkish Airlines, go to Metropolis,

and you'll see our legendary hero. And it shows

the picture of Superman holding the world up

and him flying through Metropolis. So Metropolis

sees him as a hero. Batman does it, obviously,

because of the destruction. And Lex Luthor even

gives the speech during that trailer. He's like,

Metropolis is open for business again. So it's...

But they flipped it and did the same thing with

Gotham City. Batman and Bruce Wayne. I like how

they've cut these trailers to sort of be this

alternate reality. I think when companies do

that, it's really, really, really smart, especially

if you get the right brand behind it. And having

Jesse Eisenberg and Ben Affleck do these in character

was really, really smart. Kind of weird the fact

that it's Turkish Airlines of all things. But

at least it's not Bruce Wayne going to McDonald's

and getting a sandwich like in Batman Returns

and a Diet Coke from the first movie. But still,

like I said, I want this movie to be awesome.

I really do, because I'm waiting for a DC movie

to wow me like the Nolan trilogy. But I was let

down by Dark Knight Rises, was it? Yes. You know,

it was Rises. Yeah, because The Dark Knight,

I love. Rises, I friggin' hate it. Yeah, Rises

was pretty bad. Like, here, we're gonna randomly

cram Talia Al Ghulam there, because reasons.

And oh yeah, his name's Robin. But yeah, like,

I want Schneider to amaze me. I really do. And

with DC making their trailers, in some ways,

are cut better than the Marvel ones. Because

you look at how much Suicide Squad took a similar

formula from the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer

by James Gunn, and you see how they're using

popular music to create the soundscape and create

a feel to the movie. Suicide Squad, I care more

now than I did six months ago. I still don't

care for Suicide Squad. I don't know, that Queen

trailer really impressed me. I'm thinking, OK,

I'm interested now. This doesn't look stupid.

But where does it fit into the overall of the

DCUs, so to speak? Like I said, we're going to

have some interesting conversations later on

this year. Because if we get Batman v Superman

this year, we get Suicide Squad. What comes out

next year? Probably some not I think Wonder Woman.

Yeah, I think okay. So cuz Justice League isn't

till 2018 or 2019 or whatever the hell it's supposed

to be I It's the fact that the DC movies are

so spaced out. They can't lose the momentum if

they want to catch up the Marvel Yeah, I just

I mean I'm gonna go see some of the DC movies

But I care more about the DC television universe

than I do their friggin movies I'm sorry, I'm

still waiting for them to pull in somehow, and

I know this will never work because I know, oh

my god, Superman and Batman can't appear on TV

because of the movies and whatever else, but

when Rip Hunter said, I've seen Men of Steel

die in Dark Knight's Fall, I was like, oh yes,

please bring them in just for a cameo, please.

I think that may happen at some point, depending.

I think once leadership changes in... Television

divisions of Warner Brothers or whoever's in

charge of the creative side of it I could see

it happening as long as they didn't make it trivial

I'm not saying you're gonna get Henry Cavill

and Ben Affleck to show up. Yeah Someone yeah,

yeah, I mean ultimately I would love to see Tom

Mullen come back Like two minutes I've been saying

that for like I said that I'm gonna not say what

I was going to say because I actually say it

later in this show, hopefully. The whole Tom

Welling thing and whatever else is just... I

don't know. I'd love to see it, but I just don't

know. And this whole thing of that those two

characters can't appear but in only one medium

is just... The single dumbest thing Warner Brothers

has done in 50 years or 100 years or however

the hell long they've had the license for both

of the big two there. I don't think it's stupid

so much so because I can see them not wanting

to confuse the properties in the eyes of the

public. I can see where they're coming from from

a marketing standpoint. But at the same time,

because the DC TV universe and the film universe

are relatively all things considered really well

defined. I don't think people would get the confusion,

because you're not going to get their version

of Green Arrow mixed up with the guy on TV. Nor

are you going to get Grant Gustin from The Flash

confused with his new Flash. It's just not going

to happen. Well, I don't know, because I don't

know. And I meant to bring this up when it first

happened, when they had that DC TV or the DC

film special. thing a few weeks ago or whenever

the hell Kevin Smith and Jeff Johns got together

and gave us some proof. Whatever the hell that

was. Jeff Johns said, oh, well, the movie Flash

is going to be completely different from the

TV Flash. And then he went through and listed

the origin of the movie Flash, which is exactly

the same damn thing as the TV Flash. Oh, we're

getting Barry, right? Not Wally, for sure. Yeah,

it's Barry. Well, Wally's not. Wally's in the

TV show, Barry is the core in the TV show, and

Barry is going to be the core in the movie, but

it's just a different actor. Yeah. But then again,

like I said, I'll be interested to see what the

movie version brings to it. So like I said, DC's

got a lot to prove. I think they've got the ingredients

to do something great. But it's how they follow

through. I've got really high hopes for the Wonder

Woman movie, actually. I think that looks really,

really cool. Like, ultimately, I kind of see

that as their version of Captain America, actually,

doing, like, a period piece with that. So I hope

it'll be as cool, because I think the Captain

America, the first Avenger, is underappreciated.

I really like that movie. But like I said, we'll

have to wait and see what happens. Like I said,

we're going to have some very good conversations

after this summer. It's going to be great. So

anyways, the trailer looked really good for the

Batman V Superman. The Flash, of course when

he's running through, you get to see all different

universes pop up. Including Supergirl. Well,

yeah. They're already filming the crossover episode.

Which will be awesome. Which means that... Martian

Manhunter is in the same universe as Flash now

and Supergirl and Superman. I'm wondering if

the DC TV, I'm really wondering if they're going

to pull a Superman the Animated Series gem out

of the vault because I'm wondering if they're

going to do Flash versus Supergirl speed demons

and have them race. I doubt it. I know, I know,

but I think that would be kind of funny seeing

Grant Gustin and Melissa whatever her name is

Do the speed demon race because we haven't really

seen her use super speed we've seen her use other

the other powers, but She I think what's gonna

happen is in in trying to return to Earth one

He's gonna end up traveling to there Yeah So

Speaking of other trailers the TMNT 2 trailer

that came out with the Super Bowl spectacular

cool Krang they took the 80s Krang and gave them

like an update An update, but it was it was a

welcome update. It wasn't like horrible or anything

I saw that came out like last year. It was like

some custom job, but it looks cool Well, what's

funny is the the toy release of this? you know,

came out sooner than the trailer. Kind of teasing

Krang. About a month ago. Yeah. And it looks

spectacular and I am so stoked for this Krang.

And Rocksteady looks pretty cool too. Bebop and

Rocksteady look good. Which is kind of weird.

So I'm super stoked for this movie. Just based

on the fact of them trying to get it right with

the Krang with Bebop, Rocksteady, Shredder, Baxter

Stockman. Yeah, I mean, so like the whole thing

all the way around just looks infinitely like

it's gonna be better than the previous. It's

like they finally listened to the fans. Well,

it's like they meshed it with what they already

created, but they gave it that comic vibe from

the 87. Now only they could do this to the Transformers

franchise huh Speaking of which the unicorn is

gonna be a pro approaching Unicorn whatever I

can't wait to see how Michael Bay screws that

up. I Don't have high hopes for that. I really

don't I Quit caring about the Transformers films

after one because they all went downhill from

there. I like dark at the moon I even like parts

of Revenge of the Fallen, but Age of Extinction

is the one movie I walked out, and this will

be my one f -bomb for the show, I wanted to hate

fuck that movie. I was so mad at it. Because

I remember walking out of the theater and looking

at some usher, I'm like, how do you freaking,

how do you fuck up Dinobots? And I was so mad,

and I've only done that. One other time, that

was with the Freddy Krueger remake back in 2010.

Well, they had Prime go to the Dinobot Island,

which was miraculously a mile over. Because they

were in one city and all of a sudden they were

in another. They were in the middle of nowhere.

And he's like, they're like, what are you doing,

Prime? getting reinforcements. And then they

go in there and they're like, these are the Dinobots,

you know, the ancient blah, blah, blah, blah,

blah. And then so they go through and he's like,

but first we have to earn their trust after they're

like standing there, like clearly not fighting

each other. And then so then Prime starts swinging

and then they start fighting. Like, I don't know,

like that movie made me so sad. Plus Mark Wahlberg,

he's a fantastic actor. But when you give him

garbage, he gives you garbage. I fix things.

I know, like, guys! Like, you know what? It's

like the character from M. Night Shyamalan's

The Happening had a brother. And that's who that

guy was. Yeah, it's the same character. Yeah,

basically. Like, it was so bad. It's the same

bad writing. So Shyamalan had something to do

with that movie, didn't he? No, it wouldn't surprise

me if there's like a secret... cabal of writers

and directors that secretly screw each other

over or try and dare each other to try something

really, really, really, really dumb every couple

years. Or Michael Bay saw the happening and was

like, that's great, Mark Wahlberg, use that.

Exactly. I want that performance. Sir, this movie

bonked. I don't care. All right. He's like, I

have explosions. It supersedes plot. I've got

explosion boobs and guns in the US military.

What more do you want? So apparently we're so

apparently now that you guys are saying all this

that means that Michael Bay is the next director

for Jim and the holograms to Well, yeah, we've

been sweep all three of us have been saying that

for the last three years Although Michael Bay

could also possibly pull off mask He's already

doing it. If you could get the guys, like some

of the dudes from Fast and the Furious and Michael

Bay, if they had like a movie making baby and

they made Mask, it would be so cool. Well, that'd

be the way for them to connect the universes.

But you need someone to record the theme song.

Yeah, there's no current day bands that could

do that theme song justice. Just no way. There

you're speaking from nostalgia though. Yeah,

there is one band and this is totally going back

a couple years There was a TV show called Avengers

Earth's Mightiest Heroes And that theme song

is awesome. Oh hell no, we're not about to have

the world No That was the worst cartoon theme

song I have ever heard with superhero cartoons.

Are you functionally retarded? No, not at all

I question your mental capacity, sir. No, if

you could get a group, there's like an awesome

cover on YouTube of the band. I think it's called

Downstreet. They do a lot of music for WWE. If

you could get them to record a cover of like

the Masked Teams song, I'd be totally down for

that. I can't believe you think the... I think,

Mike, on a level, you've wounded my soul. Good.

I now have a minus one hit point on my soul,

thanks to you. Good. Steve, move us forward,

man. I'm dying here. The only other trailer I

saw that was worth anything to me was Jason Bourne.

I'm glad he came back. But he has Paul Greengrass

directing, so that's the only reason he came

back. Plus the plot. Yeah. But it's like he...

It's like he's gonna be doing like a 180 almost

because he's gonna remember everything and become

the agent again in a sense. Man, Jason Bourne

has like the worst memory of all time and just

randomly he always has to come back. But I'm

glad that they are continuing the series because

the last one with Jeremy Renner. Legacy. I love

Renner. I really do. It was a terrible thing.

That movie was like two hours of people yelling

at cell phones. Which is ridiculous. And they

had discount Brian Cox. Yeah, exactly. Like,

no! Stop! It was Edward Norton instead. And he

was not hulking out. He looked... You know what?

In that movie, he wasn't mad. He was consistently

annoyed. Yeah, he was like, come on, people.

We have to go catch him. Yeah, he's like, guys,

I gotta go to Starbucks. Can we hurry this the

hell up? Like he there was never any sense of

real urgency Edward Norton. I love that just

consistently annoyed Norton The only other Super

Bowl trailer that I can remember which I'm surprised

I didn't do more with was the X -Men apocalypse

trailer Basically, we got more shots of Psylocke

Jean Grey and Cyclops. That's all we really got

and it was only 30 seconds Well, and then you

had didn't you have apocalypse crushing professor

X on the ground I seem to remember that from

other trailers. I think I think it was in that

one thinks yeah, so you had him showing his like

shape change ability um But I know one thing

they're really trying to push Olivia Munn a Psylocke

right now Which is really good because she looks

really good in the role I just see her and I

see the the co -host of attack of the show I

see her from Magic Mike and all I see are boobies.

She's beautiful, I'm just saying. No, they're

saying if she does well, who knows, there could

be a Psylocke spinoff at some point. I'd be down

for that, but if we get a Psylocke spinoff before

we get Black Widow, there's something seriously

wrong in the Marvel universe. Well, one's Fox,

one's Marvel. Yeah, I don't know. It's just...

I really wanted - I think Marvel's screwing the

pooch here when DC's like, we're having Wonder

Woman and it's in production and it'll be out

next year. Yeah, like honestly we should have

gotten a Black Widow movie with Hawkeyes and

it should have been like Jason Bourne but with

like monsters or something. It could have been

awesome. It could have been, but it failed. I'm

trying to think of like other Super Bowl trailers

that can't - I can't remember anything else that

I really gave a crap about. Like this year seemed

very low -key in a lot of ways Because I don't

follow football, so I don't know anything that

happened Even the halftime show I heard sucked

There hasn't been a good halftime show since

nipple gate even that one was kind of I Don't

watch Super Bowl. I watch the trailers and the

commercials That's the only reason like I remember

watching it when age of Ultron came out like

last year I see I like to irritate my teacher

in class because he He's he brought up the trailers

in class and he's like, hey, let's watch this

blah blah blah What do you guys think about this?

Did you guys watch? You know, how many of you

watched the the halftime show and blah blah blah

and I'm like Don't watch the Super Bowl and I

was just blurting it out because I didn't want

to even be talking about that I told him I said

I wait until the next day. I says I catch the

internet Wrap up of all the the commercials and

all the trailers and I watched them all in one

sitting I says and then I skipped this this thing

that they call a football game and He says but

blah blah blah blah like you're supposed to watch

it. You're supposed to have the ratings You're

supposed to you know Because sports ball and

I'm like, but I don't want to watch the game

like I'm like, that's the giant commercial for

me Yeah, pretty much just waiting for this crap

to end to get to the commercials Which is I know

any way of looking at things because like I really

look well It's sad when you look forward to the

commercial more than the show in a big event

like that. If you're a geek, that's what you

look for. If you're a football geek, then you

look for the game, not the other stuff. So it's

kind of a win -win for everybody. You know what's

weird, though? You only see these really big

commercials during Super Bowl. You never hear

about big commercials during the World Series

or the NBA Finals or the NHL Finals. It's because

they put Hollywood budgets and directors in charge

of these commercials to make these like extended

commercials that these companies spend dollars

on Yeah to market during the Super Bowl. It's

actually the premiere time for any of it to go

on but I Don't care for the game. So one missed

opportunity is I'm really surprised Sony didn't

decide to show off a Ghostbusters teaser or something

even if I would think something I mean according

to director Paul Feig we're supposed to have

a trailer by the end of the month and February

is the shortest month so I'm looking forward

to it but it's supposed to be a full like two

and a half minutes I'm cool with that as long

as it's a long trailer and give me clips for

the next few months it's just on the one hand

like I'm I'm really excited for the the Ghostbusters

film that's coming out. I I know a lot of people

are like boohoo and over stuff, you know specifics.

I don't really care like I just want a cool movie

like and and for them to make a modern one now

even though you know and I think that it was

great that they rebooted only for the fact that

the old cast was stomping their feets dragging

their feet so much through it that they've already

lost one of the actors and you know none of the

other guys really are young and spry enough to

do it so I mean it's I think the only one who

really would would be Ernie Hudson because it's

not like he's doing much right now he was in

Transformers Prime for a little bit there but

yeah I mean other than that though you never

hear about him with big big big roles you see

him in a lot of voice and B -movie stuff yeah

Murray can do whatever the hell he wants because

he's Bill Murray. Dan Aykroyd is reportedly crazy,

but he can do whatever he wants. No, but they

came from Saturday Night Live, both of them.

So they're just they're just nuts in general.

That's why I kind of have more of a hope for

this one, because a lot of the cast and crew

are Saturday Night Live people. Well, three of

them are Saturday Night Live, just like the olden

days. Yeah. So I'm hoping this will be cool.

Although it was weird, though, they released

lego stuff in the past week that may show a spoiler

from the movie um they have the new ecto one

which looks really cool i'm actually hoping to

get this set and they have kevin who's chris

hemsworth character on ecto 2 just like a dirt

bike but he has like an alternate face where

he has like red eyes or something i'm guessing

he gets possessed or i really hope he's not the

bad guy because that would suck It's gonna shatter.

He's like she's gonna shatter your fans dreams

everywhere if he is Well, he and nobody will

care about that But they're gonna go to the the

chamber to dump off the spirit and then he'll

absorb them all secretly and then It'd be like

good. I answer your calls. I mean, can I answer

your calls? That actually would be actually really

funny. That would be really really clever. Um,

I hope that it Like I said, obviously I've expressed

very big hype in this movie. I've seen some of

the stuff coming out of some of the marketing

and licensing shows that have happened in the

UK. Some of this stuff looks so cool. Some of

the roleplay stuff looks phenomenal. Like I am

seriously looking at because I like to look at

props stuff because I think I can do it. I don't

think building a Ghostbusters reboot proton pack

would be super hard. It looks a lot easier than

doing the real proton pack right now, because

that's a ridiculously expensive build. But, I

don't know, man. Like I said, there's some really

cool stuff coming out of this, so I hope when

the trailer drops, in hopefully a few weeks,

that it gets massive hype. If anything, I just

want it to shut naysayers down, because I think

that would be the best justice of all. So what

were the things you were gonna bring up before

we started the show? Oh, um, man now I'm trying

to remember I Talked about Deadpool. Oh Right,

so big news this past week one of the biggest

sites on the internet for game news is gone Game

trailers calm after 13 years shut down this past

week very unexpectedly, too Game trailers, for

those of you that don't know, was, I think, owned

by MTV and Spike at one time. Very influential

in getting the Spike TV Video Game Awards stuff

up. That's for a long time. Before YouTube was

the go -to source for trailers and stuff, you'd

go to GameTrailers .com and you'd get these things.

You'd get really good reviews. You'd get these

retrospectives that would span like nine, ten

episodes. They did one on Final Fantasy, and

it was like 13 episodes. Each of them was like

a half hour each. incredibly well researched,

really, really well produced. Jeff Keely had

a pretty big history over there himself. He's

the producer for the VGAs and does a lot of stuff

in the game industry as well. That's where Screw

Attack and the AVGN got huge. I've been featured

on game shows. I did an exclusive for the Ghostbusters

video game back in 2009. So the fact that they

just shut down just like that surprised me. because

I was watching their review for LEGO's Marvel's

Avengers last week. I was like, okay, cool. I

can't wait to see what these guys think of Street

Fighter V when it comes out. And they're like,

yeah, guys, we're done. Thanks for all your support

over the years. I really hope they take their

content and upload everything to YouTube so at

least they can make a little bit of money. I

mean, even if it's just a few people getting

like... Enough for a pizza a month. I just want

their content to live on Like I'm really kicking

myself in the ass I didn't download all their

retrospectives because they did one on metal

gear. That was really really well researched

I don't know whether they added to it for the

Phantom Pain last year But they did one leading

up to the release of Peace Walker a couple years

ago for the PSP And like I said incredibly well

produced well researched They did one for Zelda,

they did one for Metroid, Grand Theft Auto. I

think that one covered up to five. And I think

it's a real loss to gaming, to lose a site like

that, because we've lost Joystick in the last

couple years. I don't know whether Shaq News

is still around. And you see other websites like...

Destructoids had issues where like they've lost

their podcast or they've lost certain people

on their staff. I think I remember when Max Scoville

and I can't remember the name of the other guy

used to have a really really funny show. There's

one that was called internet rabbit hole that

I really liked and I can't remember who produced

that. So I don't know and then with websites

like screw attack getting absorbed by rooster

teeth. Gaming websites and just you said screw

attack got absorbed. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, they work

with I didn't know that Yeah, they work with

like Rooster Teeth that came out like late late

last year They work with them and they be like

a kind of funhouse guys now So it's still the

same old screw attack. They're just very very

closely associated with them now But a very big

move for for screw attack is they've been around

for ten years now Which they're gonna be celebrating

that very very soon Which still the first g1

of the year, so that's awesome But yeah, it's

just Things are changing man, and it's kind of

sad to see some of these sites go by the wayside

because like I said I Would probably say a good

chunk of my interest in gaming journalism came

from screw attack and game trailers And I know

web personalities like Pat Contri, Pat the NES

punk got his start there because they featured

tons of his early videos there. So it's a loss,

that's for sure. I hope everyone who worked there

bounces back or finds work within the industry

somewhere. So thanks game trailers. I'm going

to miss you. And what was the other one that

you were gonna bring up? Oh, there is one thing

this was discovered today And I don't understand

the science behind it totally just yet, but they

discovered gravitational waves observed it for

the first time this was predicted by Einstein

like a Really long ass time ago and they detected

the merger of two super supermassive black holes

and they were able to detect the movement with

Inside two individual atoms and the reason that's

a big deal is because they didn't know whether

gravity affects space -time base and They they

thought they've detected waves for years, but

that could be the earth's shifting that could

be a freight train Passing like a mile down the

road, but the technology has gotten better and

better and better and better They finally confirmed

it like this was they were first observed back

in 2000 15th September, I think, and they officially

confirm the results like today or yesterday.

And this means it opens up a whole new level

of astronomy. Now we can use gravitational imaging

sort of thing. So space probes, telescopes, and

all sorts of other things will give us a more

interesting look at the universe because now

we have a new set of eyes. I think that's pretty

interesting. Just the fact that we're now seeing

new science happening right now. So I'm very

excited to see what else is gonna happen with

this. Like I think in 10 years, we're gonna have

some really cool data that'll probably rewrite

a lot of textbooks. So yay science, yay learning.

Awesome. I love, I'm sorry, I'm a huge science

nerd for that sort of stuff. Speaking of science,

uh, Star Trek. Yes! Great show, brother! 2017.

Yep, Brian Fuller, who I originally wasn't, like,

too keen on, because every show he's done has

gotten canceled. Granted, they may make it to

a second or third season, but they still get

canceled. He, uh, he wrote some DS9 Voyager episodes

and... in the past so uh I'm I'm optimistic I'll

I'll give it a shot I don't still don't like

the subscription model yeah I don't think that's

a good idea at all I think that's gonna really

devastate it because I myself will not do the

subscription model see if they licensed it to

Hulu or Netflix they get it in front of a in

front of a bunch more eyeballs like I'm going

to be honest with you, if I want to watch Star

Trek, I'm probably going to pirate it. And I

feel terrible saying that because I really want

to support their creation. But first off, due

to licensing issues between the countries, which

is bullshit. I don't know. I think it's just

it's a terrible, terrible decision to lock this

behind a subscription a subscription gate, because

if they want to revitalize the series to make

it relevant in 2017. You can't lock it behind

a gate like that. I mean, it's not like premium

content like HBO and Game of Thrones or something

like that, because you can watch that online

or on TV. With this, it's online only. Yeah,

and that's kind of what bothers me. I just...

But the broadcast model is changing day by day,

too. Well, and I hate the fact that I'm saying

I would pirate it because I would. But it's more

so because I'm not going to pay an extra subscription

model when I'm forced to have cable TV because

of my cable internet provider. Well, yeah. And

at the same time, I mean, even if it was a CBS

service, what shows are on there? I mean, I know

CBS owns the entire Star Trek back catalog, but

what else? What else am I really realistically

going to care about? Okay, I maybe That shows

gone. I mean CSI But you can watch the back.

Yeah. Yeah, you can watch the back catalog. I

mean, they've got all the CSI is they've got

the various NCIS they got big bang They got all

they got two and a half men. They got two broke

girls. They got All their back catalog stuff

from you know last 30 or 40 years. They've got

Supergirl See my my my whole deal with this is

I'm not gonna pay an extra Yeah, if it was five

bucks, baby, but then again for an extra two

bucks. I get a hulu Well, I don't think CBS is

a part of hulu. Is it um, I thought yeah. Yeah,

I've got CBS shows There are CBS shows on there.

There are plenty. Like I said, there's a lot

of the back catalog on there, but There is a

lot of the new stuff But there's not all of the

new stuff because I have to watch I have to watch

Supergirl and CSI cyber on there on the CBS website

I can't watch that but Like I said, they're they're

back catalog It is on Hulu There were so many

more networks or brands that I think are much

more deserving of a subscription service like

if Cartoon Network Would offer a back catalog

of everything they've ever shown Here's my money

take it now or if Nickelodeon could open up Everything

from the beginning of their station to now. Here's

my money take it out or Disney Give me every

single show. Give me every Mickey Mouse Club

every Darkwing Duck Ducktales tales, but whatever

see the problem everything The problem currently

with Cartoon Network slash Boomerang Nickelodeon

and Disney is like, if you go to watch, watch

Disney channel .com, they force you to log in

with a cable provider. They basically force you

into a, into having a cable package in order

to watch their online content. And that's another

thing that just completely, I would rather buy

the episodes from iTunes than, than And whatever

the other thing is I saw since we're talking

about this whole TV internet thing. Do you guys

see the article about PayPal and VPNs this week?

No They if they Basically if they see you using

a VPN You can't you can't use PayPal anymore

to do a VPN basically if I pay for a VPN With

my PayPal account, they'll suspend it? Yep. That's

so sick! No, they won't even let you do the transaction.

Wow! F**k those guys! Here it is. It is from

Gizmodo. I'm gonna read some of this. I will

send you the link, Mike. PayPal is blocking payments

to VPN providers. Although using a VPN isn't

illegal, it is getting more difficult joining

in on Netflix's attempt to clamp down on viewers

breaching terms of service by utilizing VPNs

to avoid geo -blocking restrictions. PayPal has

now begun removing its services to VPN providers.

Interesting. I think the service I use, we signed

up with a credit card, so we should be good.

But that is, my god, there needs to be a huge

overhaul. and how these things are licensed in

different countries. Because ultimately, I want

to pay for your content. Give me the ability

to pay for my content. See, this is what I understand.

OK, I understand why back in the olden days when

we had nothing but DVDs for TV shows, I understand

why DVDs are region -coded and all that. Yeah.

Why do the... Why does that crap have to be region

-coded? You'd think if you want to say, we're

Netflix or we're Hulu or we're whatever, and

we have millions upon millions upon millions

of options for you for television and movies

and whatever, you'd think that they'd have it

all be region -free and be able to, you know.

I know in Canada, it comes down to cable companies.

It depends on what... on what class of license

these cable companies have and what they can

show. Like I know in Canada, one of the big providers

is a company called Rogers slash City, and how

they license their content. They now have an

on -demand service called ShowMe, which is basically

our version of Hulu. And now we have another

thing called Crave, which is like Bell, the Bell

telephone company, which also does phone, internet,

et cetera. They have it too, which now they're

a version of Hulu as well. Like, they get exclusive

content to the WB catalog, whereas ShowMe doesn't

have as much WB content. So it comes down to

who's licensing it, who's broadcasting it to

trust your broadcasters, what medium it can be

reproduced in. It's basically, frankly, it's

legally bullshit. It's people, I want my slice

of the pie now. And by all rights, yes, you absolutely

deserve to be paid for your work. You absolutely

deserve to be paid for your creative endeavors.

But please, can we simplify this? No reason,

like Mike said, for certain things to be region

locked. Now I understand certain countries have

certain restrictions on content. That's just

the way it is. Like, in China, you can't show

things. And I get that. That's a government thing.

And in England, you have to use hero turtles

instead of ninja turtles. Yeah, like, it's so

stupid. I mean, the world needs to catch up to

2016 like now. But I'm living in a dream world.

It frustrates me to no end. I can't believe that,

though. I mean, that's gonna... I just put it

on Twitter for you. I can see some VPN providers

challenging this, and I hope they do. This is

bullshit. I didn't even know this was a thing

because I'm so far out of the video game things.

You've played Lego Batman 3, right Mike? Yep.

Well sadly about a week ago we lost veteran Looney

Tunes voice actor Joe Oleski. He reprised - Is

that Bugs Bunny? Like, plucky duck and all that?

Yep, he was plucky. But he is the only guy ever

past Mel Blank to really voice all of the classic

Looney Tunes characters. So, wait a second, Mike.

Was that him in Space Jam? No. Okay. It was not

him in Space Jam. They don't - Warner Brothers

didn't use him all the time, but - throughout

his voice acting career, he'd be like one of

their go -to people. He was, at one point or

another, voicing either Sylvester and Tweedy,

Bugs, Daffy, he's voiced every single one of

the characters at one point or another before

he passed away. The reason why I bring up - Did

he do that new Looney Tunes show that came out

a couple years ago? No, he didn't. He couldn't

get past the concept of putting Bugs and Daffy

as the odd couple. I really like that show. I

don't know why, but I really do. So the reason

why I bring this up, because it's video game

based and we were talking about video games earlier,

he reprises his role as Daffy, but it's the episode

of Duck Dodger's The Green Loon Turn. Lego Batman

3. I thought that was hilarious. But yeah, Joe

will definitely be missed. I know Maurice LaMarche

posted something about this. About a week ago.

He was talking about how he and him didn't get

along in the very early part of their career

Later on they became really really really good

friends. Yeah, that's man. We're this year has

been Devastating to pop culture. It hasn't even

started yet. I know, like, geez. Like, I'm predicting

a really big actor like a huge actor is gonna

go this year Like ultimately I've been on this

is gonna sound really morbid but I'm on the Morgan

Freeman death watch. Oh. He is my Deadpool bet.

Okay, as long as, as long as the production for

Now You See Me 2 gets done before he dies, I'll

be happy. Yeah, see, I'm glad, yeah, I really

hope he finishes that. I mean, I'm glad that

they had when, um, the guy that played, uh, Toramon,

help me out here. Huh? Christopher Lee, I'm really

glad he got all of his Lord of the Rings stuff

done before he died. Same with Michael Gambino,

the guy from Harry Potter, the guy that played

Dumbledore. I'm glad he's still alive and was

able to finish everything, because when he replaced

the old Dumbledore, frankly, he was way better.

But anyway, and same with Alan Rickman. Can you

imagine? This is probably more my thing than

either of you two. I can't imagine anybody else

playing Snape. Stuff like that. So I think we're

gonna lose someone really iconic this year, and

it's gonna shock people. Not like losing David

Bowie or Lemmy or anybody else is not shocking,

but I don't know. I got a feeling a heavy hitter's

going down this year. Which is unfortunate. It's

terrible. It's an unfortunate part of life, but

just... Don't know like I remember when Alan

Rickman died. I was really upset about that Cuz

I had just watched Galaxy quested dogma that

week cuz I was just really bored. I was just

watching it. I DVDs and stuff. Um Man, well,

you know, that's friggin Hans Gruber that's Snape.

That's weird. Um Mr. Potter You pick times that

cowboy I freaking love that guy. Sad he's gone.

But anyway, yeah, it's really sad to hear about

Mr. Lasky. So I wonder who's going to do it now.

Currently? Maybe the next kind of voice act.

Because the Looney Tunes show is gone. The Looney

Tunes show either got canceled or ended or whatever

else. They have this new series they started

last year called Wabbit. I didn't even know that!

I thought Looney Tunes' show was still going!

No, it ended. They killed it? Yep. Currently,

in Wabbit, Jeff Bergman is Bugs Bunny Foghorn,

and Wabbit is, and more races in this show is

Yosemite, but Wabbit is completely different

than any of the other Looney Tunes stuff that

we've ever... really had and it's uh... uh...

it's but is it good i don't know because i have

not watched it i just know that it's uh... it's

very strange because it's not all the classically

daffy duck's not in it yet if he ever will show

up yeah louington show only had two seasons it

ran from may third of twenty eleven to august

thirty first of twenty fourteen oh my god it

ended two years ago I thought it was still going,

I really did. Like I've seen probably eight episodes

and I really enjoyed it. Yeah. Which I don't

know why because the content was so weird. Although

that's not the weirdest Looney Tunes thing I've

ever seen before. Oh, weirdest was that Lunatics.

Lunatics Unleashed, yeah. What is this? This

is witchcraft. Man, that's so strange. Cut it

out. Speaking of which... We have a Fuller House

trailer that came out too. I don't know how to

feel about this yet. I saw it. I think it's trying

too hard. Unlike Girl Meets World. that kind

of took it and reinvented it. See, there's something

about Girl Meets War that seems more organic.

It seems more authentic. It is, because it is

a true sequel series, whereas Fuller House basically

just took the... There's a rehash with opposite

genders. You know what it feels like? Okay, as

kids, did you guys ever have those books and

you put stickers in them and like you could recreate

scenes? Yeah. That's what this feels like. Like

okay, here's the full house set. Whatever. We're

gonna get you an older Bob Saget an older Dave

Coulier and Here's some random characters and

oh, yeah, here's Kimmy freaking gibbler and insert

laugh track. It just it doesn't seem I Don't

know. Like I said, it seems so inauthentic mind

you like I said, we've only seen the trailer

I'm gonna reserve judgment till the first or

first two episodes. I mean I'm interested to

see it for the classic cast but I'm also interested

to see what adult DJ does because the whole premise

for anyone that doesn't know we've been living

under a rock obviously the original series was

Danny Joey and Jesse You know three guys in a

house with three girls And then it evolved from

there this series basically reverses it as DJ

Stephanie and Kimmy in a house with DJs, three

boys. And the funny thing, I didn't even know

this until the trailer. It also has Kimmy's daughter

as well. See, I didn't... Well, when originally

this was announced, the only thing I... Before

any of the trailers came out, the only thing

I knew was that it was reversing the male -female

things with DJ and all that. I didn't even know

about the fact that Kimmy was going to have a

daughter or anything like that, which... I'm

optimistic. There was a little line in the...

Well, she's supposed to be the 90s throwback.

Yeah. Is it all the original cast? Like, did

they get the girl that played Stephanie to come

back, Jodie Sweden? Yep. They got all the original

cast except for Mary -Kate and Ashley. Wow. They

reference Michelle several times. Have you seen

the trailer? Yeah, and they're like, you're good,

dude. Let's prank call her at 3 o 'clock in the

morning. I'm thinking, why are you drawing attention

to the fact that they're not there? I think that

was a bad move, but I can see why they're doing

it to get people like, oh yeah. When I first

saw the trailer, this is just where my first

saw it. It was before it was just the trailer.

It was the Ellen exclusive. So she's sitting

there talking to the three of them, talking to

Candice and Jodie and... Andrea and She asks

them about Mary Kate and Ashley and and can't

they're like the doors open. Yeah, they're not

coming back She's like the doors always open

if they want to come back. They'll come back

but Whatever, it wouldn't surprise me if they

show up in the last five minutes Yeah, there's

an alternate guys will play will pay for your

plane ticket at a hotel Here's lunch. Just show

up and say hi You know what I mean? Like, there's

no reason for the Olsen twins to not do it. Like,

realistically. What are they doing now, anyway,

other than their fashion stuff? I think that's

the majority of their time, which obviously doing

a business, something like that, is very intensive.

You can't be away for too long. If you're telling

me you couldn't take a weekend. Yeah. My favorite

scene in the trailer is between Jesse and Stephanie.

You're forgetting two words. Have mercy. How

rude. I love that. It was funny. I'm hoping it's

good. I really want it to be good because I know

that's something me and Blair will probably like

power through in like a week. But I don't know.

Actually, I kind of wonder what other shows they

could even reboot like this. Like if only just

for one season sort of thing Well, what could

be the net what could be the next Netflix revival

series? That's live -action sitcom You have 13

episodes or 10 at okay you have an episode you

can resurrect one class sitcom See, I think I

think full house is 26. Isn't it first season?

I think that's what it is. I don't know I could

be wrong anyway I might consider bringing back

Cheers. Yeah, because I think that might be really,

really funny. Now, are you going to do it with

the classic cast? Are you going to do it? Are

you going to do like a reinvention of it? I would

have head dancing still there. See, there's already

a problem with that. He's currently starring

as DB Russell on CSI Cyber. I'm sure they could

find a way from the new two shows at once. I'm

sure they could yeah, you back up a dump truck

to his house He'll figure it out. I Would have

cliff and norm back for sure And I see what Christy

Alley is doing and then the rest is all new people

and see what happens Alternatively I would like

to see home improvement We kind of are we kind

of already have that though in last man standing

Because you can't do Alf Not properly. Anyway,

you can't do Family matters because Urkel is

so beyond even actually that might not be a bad

idea You haven't be like Urkel's kid And then

you maybe have it how him and Laura are together

or whatever, or whatever. I don't know. You could

figure out something. Yeah. Because I'm pretty

sure almost all of them are still alive, except

for the girl that played Erna, who died very

tragically of cancer. What a crime that was.

Yeah. She was gorgeous. My god, I had such a

crush on her when I was a kid. But yeah, that's

actually not a bad idea. Keep it in the same

locate. Hey, maybe okay. Here is my pitch or

failure matters the reboot Her coin Laura are

together They have a son who wants to be a cop

like Carl, right? it's a weird buddy cop comedy

show in a weird way and the son also has an interest

in science, so he works in the crime lab and

the sun wants to be a copy as interest in science

and wants to be in the crime lab next thing you

know a flash of lightning in boone so you know

it's yeah i don't know who wally west but that's

the i think that might be really really really

clever especially if you pull it off right as

you got the right cast members to come back You

know what, I think the final shot of our reboot

should be Richie coming down the stairs like,

man, I've been upstairs for like 26 years. What'd

I miss? Or like Grandma Winslow, if she happens

to be alive. Grandma Winslow. Because she went

upstairs in like season three and never came

back. Or like Rachel just randomly just gone.

I think that'd be kind of a really funny fourth

wall breaking joke. but that's the joke you could

only ever do once. But yeah, I think that'd be

really cool. Let's hear your kind of, you guys

go, pitch. Of what show I can bring back? You

can bring one show, any cast member you want,

10 episodes, exclusive to Netflix. I don't even

know what show I'd bring back, honestly. Yeah,

I don't either. What's the matter about you might

be kind of an interesting idea to bring back?

No, no, no, no, no. Well, you never see Paul

Reiser anymore. Yeah. That sucks, he's really

funny. Oh, he is, he is. I just think that they,

and see, the funny thing, the reason why I say

no to that is because the final episodes of that

series, it was a two -parter. Called the final

frontier and in those episodes In those episodes

it's Jeanine Garofalo as an adult Mabel Talking

about her parents and throughout the years and

they go into the future and into the past in

the future in the past and Some of the years

that they go into Like they hit 2011. They actually

hit 2015. They hit 2021 At some point they split

up somewhere along the lines in there or whatever

else But no, they're just some shows. I don't

think me like mad about you as a show that It's

a show that you start. No, it's not. No, it's

not obscure at all It it it started out as a

comedy and then as I was watching it when it

was airing on on reruns on whatever channel it

was that I was watching it on it started on as

a a couples comedy, then it turned into a really

serious couples drama. That's interesting. I

wasn't expecting that at all. I do know at some

point this year, I don't have an exact date,

because I don't know if an exact date has actually

been announced yet. I do know that Mill Creek

is finally coming out with a complete series

release for this. God damn time. Because seasons

six and seven were never released on DVD. I'd

like to see a one -hour special for Roseanne.

That last season was such garbage. Just bring

Roseanne and John Goodman from the Big Bang Theory.

That's all you need. That would be so funny if

they did that! I know the show I want them to

bring back. Alright. It's animated though. Okay.

I want Beast Wars. Oh god, here we go. If I had

to bring back one animated show, this is going

to be weird. You guys probably will not see this

one coming from me. Duckman. That show would

be so successful now. It's got that weird sense

of humor that I don't think worked in the 90s.

I could see that. And I love Jason Alexander,

and he was hilarious in that show. her So kind

of getting into the comments from last week Yeah

Yeah, cuz Mike found that one you know why the

only reason why I know that outside of finding

it is because and people hate this I found out

that he is the voice of Captain K. No the attack

beast vehicle in team night rider when I was

doing my night rider podcast. I found that out

and I'm like Oh my God, Goldar is a voice of

a talking truck. That's so weird. Yes. But yeah,

so everybody was commenting about the Elizabeth

Banks casting saying that it should be good.

And then, of course, the comments about the Fine

Brothers not being so fine. So So Steve last

week We were talking how I was gonna give you

a box of 360 games Yes, putting this challenge

so the listeners are aware of this I'm gonna

send Steve a bunch of games. I've given him like

10 or 15 games including Grand Theft Auto 5 But

the game I want Steve to beat and I'm gonna check

his gamer profile to do this and I will give

Steve $20 us If he beats The Walking Dead Season

1 from Telltale Games, and if you don't think

it's a marvelous piece of storytelling, then

I will give you $20. But I expect you to be honest

about this. And I'd like people to weigh in in

the comments as well, because I think a lot of

people agree, those games, you don't have to

know Jack about the show to know those games

tug at the heartstrings. That's... One of three

video games in my life that have made me cry.

So it's been Walking Dead, Chrono Trigger, and

Final Fantasy VI Slash VII. Interesting. Four

video games that have made me cry. But Walking

Dead hits you right in the feels. So I will put

the challenge out to you. There's 20 bucks riding

on it. So listeners, keep Steve accountable to

this. I'm not saying you have to do it in like

a week because you're in school Say in like three

months you have three months to beat it Three

months. Yeah, we'll see. All right Otherwise,

hey, it's 20 bucks. What have you got to lose,

right? true Yes So, yeah, thank you for the comments

guys. Yes. Thank you Anything you guys want to

bring up before we close it out? Um, I know I've

talked about this endlessly. I really am trying

to get a bossed rollout, just I've recorded one

and I did not love it. So I'm going back to the

drawing board. Don't you hate when that happens

when you spend all that time and all that effort

and then something goes wrong or the file gets

lost or corrupted or it doesn't sound I hate

that. I recorded three separate shows. Same topic

Couldn't get it right, but you know what? This

is garbage delete delete delete so Hopefully,

I'll get that done not this weekend because hey

guys, it's Valentine's Day weekend. So there

should be a new nerd news coming out on Friday

there for sure I'm just gonna record that early

in the day get her done And I know me and Jamie

have a prototype for next week. We didn't get

this one this week as Jamie has this wicked sinus

infection. So he sounds like R2D2. So hopefully

he'll be, you know, not dead when I call him

next week. Other than that though, hoping to

get a review of Dungeon Crate, which is very,

very, very cool. If you're into role -play games,

it's like a subscription service for that. And

I'm talking, I'm trying to get a hold of the

guy from I think it's dinosaurdracula or draculadinosaur

.com. He has this subscription service. It's

like a retro box. You get like old cards, old

toys from like the 80s and 90s. It looks really,

really cool. So I'm hoping to talk to him. And

I'm supposed to, hopefully before his Kickstarter

ends, I want to say it ends fairly shortly. For

the He -Man documentary, The Power of Grayskull,

turns out the same guy who did that also did

Nintendo Quest, which is... Video game collector

that's semi -local to me, but he also did the

turtle power Documentary you may have seen on

Netflix last year, which is incredibly well done

So yeah, that's what I got coming up in the next

little bit I'm slugging through more my little

pony comics over in the pullback Nicole and I

are Getting through that we did ponytails volumes

one and two this past week This coming week.

We're gonna be doing fiendship as friendship,

which is all the villain one shots Then after

that there's gonna be two episodes where one

episode each is gonna be friendship is magic

volumes one and two and Friends forever volumes

one and two Tooncast beyond is going to be doing

Because Joel Eskie's death is still kind of fresh

in our minds and hearts We're going to be doing

Tiny Toon Adventures season one and Duck Dodgers

season one over the next few weeks, but it's

gonna take me a while to get those released because

I completely forgot, didn't know that Tiny Toon

Adventures Season 1 is 65 episodes. I've seen

like 20 at this point. Oh yeah, that reminds

me of something else to bring up while I'm thinking

about it. We are going to have our Deadpool topic

show for February up really, really soon since

Deadpool just came out. So probably middle of

next week, if not the end of next week between

Rhyne and Robuck. So get your chimichangas ready.

Awesome. Yeah, I'm pretty excited about I'm actually

reading a bunch of Deadpool comics this like

weekend So I'm looking forward to learning more

about the Merc with a mouth and why in the movie.

He's not annoying yet in real life He's really

really annoying because everybody talks about

but you know, yeah, I'm I'm really looking forward

to Learning more about Deadpool as well, but

uh presently I'm I have yet to see the movie,

so. We'll talk about that next week as you're

going on the weekend, right? Yeah. Exciting times.

We'll have a Deadpool discussion next week. It'll

be great. Yeah. Really quick before we go, I

think this is something you both should check

out. I know Steve is a huge fan of Prison Break.

I recently interviewed a comic writer, Ryan Ferrier.

He does Dave, Dave 2, the upcoming Hot Damn from

IDW. And a series he's doing over at Boone is

called Kennel Block Blues. It's basically Prison

Break. For dogs? With animals. That's interesting.

I've read the first issue. It's amazing. Are

they like furries, or are they like actual animals?

They're... They're angry beavers. They're anthropomorphic

animals. Okay, so they're furries, okay. They're

furries. Hey, as long as the artwork looks cool.

You know, I will say this about furries, because

this can set off an entire new topic. God, no!

Steve, close the show! Some of these artworks

look awesome! And some of it is really, really

disturbing. I've seen a horse do things to animals

I never want to see again. But I've also seen

a fox riding a skateboard that would make a wicked

tattoo. So... Rule 34, people! Rule 34. Nice.

It's terrible. Actually, really, really, really

quick, because I love to embarrass myself. Went

to one of the first Anime Norths back in, like,

1998 or something. Went to this, I was still

in high school. So me and my friend were staying

in Toronto. Went to Anime North. I remember him

buying two CDs of fur porn for like 40 bucks

off some creepy looking dude in the back of like

the friggin' dealer's room. And I'm like, what's

furry porn? And I'm like, oh my God! Okay, that's

kind of hot. We're gonna save that one. But oh

my God! Now that I've embarrassed myself. Feedback

at geekcastradio .com, I don't know. Leave comments

because I'm disturbed. You can send your furry

information to mike at thisweekengeek .net. If

I, I would be really, okay, you can send me cool

furry art, but if you send me anything weird,

I'm coming to your house with a shotgun. That's

what she sent. Oh! So with that, until next time,

get altered geeky with the Altered Geeks. Her

report is weird.
