About this Episode

Steve, TFG1 Mike, and Mighty Tim discuss the new Muppets reboot on ABC, where Miss Piggy hosts a late-night talk show while maintaining character integrity. They dive into Heroes Reborn's revival on NBC, comparing it to the original series and discussing how current rating metrics differ from five years ago. The conversation branches into superhero TV and film trends, Marvel's Phase 4 plans, the state of Spider-Man movies, and upcoming superhero projects like Arrow's evolution into Green Arrow. They also cover tech stories including porous "magical concrete" that prevents flooding, water discovered on Mars, Elon Musk's Mars colonization ideas, Skype's universal translator, and concerns about a new people-rating app.

This week on Altered Geek Unleashed we discuss

the Muppets, Heroes Reborn, Superheroes, TV shows

and their revivals, tech, water on Mars, people,

and more. So get tuned in to Altered Geek Unleashed!

You're tuned in to Steve Megatron on Altered

Geek Unlimited. Time to get things started. And

welcome to Altered Geek Unleashed. I'm your host,

Steve Megatron Phillips, and joining me this

week into the land of geekdom is TFG1 Mike and

Mighty Tim. What's up? Oh my god, I'm podcasting

again. It's a miracle. Mike has this new cardboard

box called his own room. Six hundred square feet.

One body. 600 square feet in a podcast booth.

So if everyone notices any change in my voice,

it's not my voice, it's my surroundings. Cause

there's not much in here just now. I have my

desk, obviously my massive six foot by nine foot

oak wooden desk. And I have my chair and my crap.

What the hell is it called? Side table, but I

don't have any other actual furniture in the

living room. My shelf is over there somewhere

and the other in the room. But yeah, it's a,

I tell you, it's really, really, it's almost

difficult going from living with three other

people to living by yourself because you're so

used to, like for me, I'm one of those types

of people that I, because my vision is so bad,

my hearing is extra sensitive. so if i hear anything

like even when i have my headphones on and i

have nickel black blaring full blast i can still

hear stuff around me if something's going on

and i would always i essentially got whiplash

from having to do this every time i hear something

i take one of the headphones off and look behind

me because the kitchen was behind me where my

desk was and now i don't have to do that anymore

it's like wow it's kind of refreshing but it's

like holy crap there is nothing going on anymore

You can hear crickets. Yeah, huh? You should

have inserted them right there Tim what have

you been up to? Well TVs back obviously, you

know fall TV season happened last week And I've

just been watching Watched here was you're born

last week. Well watch the watch the first half

watch the second half today and also been catching

up on the last season of Supernatural because

I just fell behind and couldn't catch back up

until this last couple weeks and also watching

The Muppets, which is wonderful and I'm so happy

they're on TV again. You and I are probably the

only ones here that think it's kind of cool.

It's great! I love it! Yeah, I'm yeah, I'm not

real fond of the concept of it, but it's more

so because I want like the classic I Mean take

off the rose -colored glasses. Do you take them

off? Well, I have to also preface this with unless

it's a Show like engines a shield or once upon

a time or Shark Tank and Last Man Standing, ABC

is dead to me. I hate all of their other scripted

shows. I don't disagree with you. I do not disagree

with you at all. I just think it's all bad writing

on everything. It's not that I'm not excited

to see Muppets come back, because I am. I'm glad

that it's getting a resurgence, even though it

took a good movie and a mediocre movie to bring

it back. Yeah. It's more so I don't necessarily

I would rather see them do like an SNL styled

show with it again Well, see they did that a

few years like almost 15 years ago and it didn't

work and it got canceled. Yeah, so Obviously

that that that form of a Muppets show is kind

of dead So they just they're just trying new

things and I really like what they're doing because

they're still maintaining the integrity of the

characters while Doing this call mockumentary

style of filmmaking, which I really really like

I was doing a good job Because I've watched brief

moments of it is the the show formatting similar

to Like Modern Family and all those other kind

of shows It's this is more I don't watch that

either I've seen it's okay this the new Muppet

show is Actually, it's an updated version of

The Muppet Show, with the exception of the fact

that it's Piggy in the spotlight and she's a

late night host. So she's essentially, Miss Piggy

can essentially be put up with the likes of Seth

Meyers and Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert.

It's that kind of thing where the background

of the show, it isn't a variety show anymore.

It's Kermit and Scooter and everybody. Basically

scrambling around to make sure she's happy and

she can do her her late -night talk show is what

it is It's really the Muppet show from the olden

days except the concept has changed for modern

audiences because let's face it unless you're

24 and up in age Nobody's gonna remember variety

shows like them up now. No no and And like I

said, they tried doing that again with Muppets

Tonight a few years ago. I mean, when I say a

few years, I mean 15. And it just didn't work

because, like what you're saying, Mike, unless

you're 25 and up, you're not going to really

like a variety show. And what I like, and like

I said before, the characters are still intact.

There's no character departures from the Muppets

that we know and love. Fozzie's still a nervous

wreck about people liking him, and Kermit's still

laid back as ever, and Miss Piggy is all about

her. So that's what I like, is that the characters

are still intact. It's really funny. Legitimately

funny. I like the gonzo mom joke that was in

the last episode and how it came back around

at the end. I love that. It was great. I love

the pilot in the first episode. Every time anybody

on Facebook or Twitter talks about the Muppets,

I always bring this up. My life is a bacon -wrapped

hell. You can't say hell. When I when I saw the

pilot because I I watched that That 10 -minute

thing from comic -con so many times because I

put it on YouTube the only part that really didn't

land for me was when gonzo goes off on the the

The the style of the show and how he hates it

and then he likes it That's the only thing that

didn't land for me in the actual show But it's

still funny. I'm interested to see how they're

going to incorporate Ralph at some point. I know

he's there. Or Walter, even. Because that's one

complaint I hear from people who really liked

that first recent Muppet movie with Jason Siegel.

Where's Walter? Where's Walter? Because they

made such a big deal about him in that first

movie. Oh God, I can just see it now. ABC and

Disney. are going to create this new craze and

they're going to have books and cereal boxes

and everything. Where's Walter? No more where's,

to hell with Waldo. We don't give a crap about

Waldo anymore. It's where's Walter now? I mean,

I could take or leave Walter. He was fine in

the first movie and he was okay in Muppets Most

Wanted. The second movie was just, I'm sorry.

It seemed like a cash grab to me for them. They

don't need to do a cash grab for the Muppets.

They just don't. And I think losing Jason Segel,

I don't know why he left. I have my theories

about it. But I think losing Jason Segel really

hurt that movie. I think it probably could have

been better if he was still attached to the second

movie. Well, you can tell how much he likes The

Muppets in general, because even for getting

Sarah Marshall, he had the whole Muppet thing

going on in part of the movie. And then he's

in that movie, and it was so... solid with him

in that film because you could tell he really

loved the characters. Well, if you listen to

the writer and director commentary on the Blu

-ray, I mean, like him and his writing partner

who co -wrote the movie with him, they're like

going off about this episode and this episode

and this episode. You could tell they really

loved it. And Muppets Most Wanted felt, it just,

I still liked it, but it just, it felt off. It

just felt like a redo of great muppet caper mm

-hmm so That's because Disney's not good at producing

anything that isn't Star Wars or Marvel and that

the truth ain't that technically Although I do

love the first Jason Segel Muppets movie technically

that's a ripoff of The Muppet movie that you

talk about that for that very first one The one

with Joan Cusack. Oh, the Very Merry Muppet Christmas

movie. Yeah, that's what it is. The Very Merry

Muppet Christmas movie, that's what it is because

she's doing the same thing that Chris Cooper's

character is doing in the 2011 Muppets film.

You know, trying to destroy the theater or take

it over or whatever else. Right. I don't know.

I mean, there's only so much you can do with

the Muppets. I know there's only so much you

can do with the Muppets. I get that. I understand

that. I don't know. I think this new show is

kind of what we needed because it's a new...

It has most of the classic elements. It has skits,

it has segments, it has whatever. It deals more

with the backstage than it does, and the classic

show used to do that all the time too, but it

deals more with the backstage than the classic

show used to. I just, so far after two episodes,

I'm really enjoying it. And episode two, when

the Swedish chef showed up, I was like, oh yeah,

this show has me now because holy crap, is somebody

cooking a pig? And how they incorporate the lesser

known Muppets, how they did Deadly this week

was awesome. No, someone... on face book someone

on someone comments on brian t stevenson status

uh... brian t stevenson reactionary couple years

ago uh... is a voice actor and all that kind

of stuff he does uh... all god he's gonna kill

me for not getting this right he does monkey

creations or he does some some wings of monk

are some toy company thing he has uh... he Did

a comment about his thoughts on it and somebody

else commented saying oh, thank you I never knew

what the cool looking dragon Muppets name was

which is Uncle Deadly right Yeah, it's It's really

good. I really like it. I still But yeah, but

Steve. I'm totally with you aside from what were

you saying shield? I said shield once upon a

time Like shark tank and last man standing like

I really don't care for anything else that ABC's

produced No, no, I I can't stand all the Shonda

Rhimes stuff I I watched Grey's Anatomy when

everyone told me to and then I lost track after

a few seasons I yeah aside from I mean, I don't

even I mean no offense to you Steve, but I didn't

like once upon a time It's got its moments. Yeah,

it's Think they're finally like changing the

status quo on it this season Which is kind of

nice because it's it's been the same song and

dance, you know villain of the the because half

the season the first half the season They're

fighting one villain and then the second half

they're fighting another one and it's always

like the repercussions after the fact Well, they

turn they flip the lid and so the heroes are

villains and villains are heroes So I guess I

could be good. It's a completely new dynamic

Hmm, that's cool They've completely changed it

since last season. So it's it's actually going

in a better direction There was a lot of that

show that when they started getting into certain

Disney or mythological characters. I just I was

like I could drop this show right now because

of it, but You know to the same degree Supernatural

has done the same thing. I mean season Yeah,

seven and eight We're terrible See, I like Season

6, I like Season 6, I don't like Season 7 because

they can create their own monster, that's fine,

but when they start making them vulnerable to

washing soap, I never do that. Season 7 and 8

were bad. 9 and 10, it's been going back into

the way the original show was kind of set up.

Yeah, and I like that, I like that. And so 11

is actually going to be really good. Yeah, I'm

excited. I'm excited because I've been catching

up on 10 because I fell off because I just got

busy after the 200th episode and I just barely

caught up this week in time for the premiere

next week. Which, you know, the same token, we

did that with Heroes. We watched the whole series

and then watched Heroes Reborn. And, you know,

because the first episode's actually the first

two episodes. Yeah. We watched those earlier

this week, and then we caught the new one tonight.

And it's slowly piecing things together, and

there's still callbacks to the old show, but

there's also, like, they're filling in some of

the gaps, so I'm really enjoying the show. Yeah,

I'm enjoying Heroes Reborn much more than I thought

I would. At this point, I haven't seen tonight's

episode yet. Well, I think with this, because

one, you have the half, you have the 13 episode

season. Yes. So you figure there's already at

least nine episodes that are missing that would

have been filler. Yes. And then you also figure

that it's actually going to keep the pace going,

whereas it kind of got stale and stuck in some

points of the old show. Plus some of the abilities

they gave some of these people were causing it

Like technically hero Could have rewrote the

entire show. Oh sure sure that's why having a

few episodes have problems and then you know

with this show he's of course gonna be back but

He's only gonna be in three episodes of it. So

is he only in three? Yeah, I checked the IMDB

He's only in three Parkman's in one Angela Petrelli

is in one. The Haitian says he's in six. Okay.

Yeah. That's the only thing that's going to be

confused. I mean, if you've watched it, you'll

know what happened. I'm wondering if there's

either... Spoiler alert, people. Yeah. I'm wondering

if there's either somebody that reverts it or

heals or something, or it's a flashback. I'm

not sure. It's one of those three, but... Yeah.

I mean, with this show, they could do either

or, because they've done all those in... I will

say I'm enjoying the new powers that they've

given some people. Yeah. Like the kid that can

teleport by touching something. Yeah. Whereas

Herohead uses teleport with his time travel type

thing, but this is like different entirely. Well,

they always had like multiple a bit like like

people had multiple abilities because I always

thought that Nathan when he flew had some form

of regeneration and that's how that's why Claire

got that power because he had to have some form

of regeneration or others went otherwise if he

flew his you know, his whole body would like

explode Not necessarily he didn't have the the

regeneration It the gene it changes each person.

I know that, but that was always a personal theory

of mine. I will say that this third episode though,

they will touch on an altered version of the

regeneration. Interesting. And there's, not spoiling

anything, there's some powers that come back

into play that were in the First season of heroes

that the way that they pull these off are actually

kind of ingenious Yeah, I think you know that

has to do with you know the technology being

better you know because they can actually pull

because when they were trying to do like time

travel and stuff the reason why you know they

would that hero would do that you know that squint

thing is because they had to Zoom in and then

move the scene to to another location Well, with

this kid though, the animation for it's better

when they teleport him or the CG, and then the

regeneration, you actually get to watch it happen.

Oh, that's cool. Whereas before, it was like

a gradual fade -in type thing that they did.

You can actually watch pieces go back together.

Like the most awful one to me still is in Season

2 when Claire cut her toe off and it grew back

and the thing just pops up. Oh my gosh, that

was so bad. I'm not going to spoil it. It's really

cool how they do this. Sweet, sweet. I can't

wait to watch it. But yeah, I watched the first

two episodes. I liked them more than I thought

I would. I thought I would just be like, oh,

this is stupid. They're redoing what they did

before. And obviously they have to because it

still has to be heroes. But I'm liking it a lot

better than I thought I would. And I'm looking

forward to seeing it out through the rest of

the season. And who knows, we may get a Heroes

Reborn Season 2 if this is successful enough.

I was reading that apparently Tim Kring and NBC

decided to do, when they decided to revive it

because he's been wanting to bring it back. Sure.

For years. Obviously because it's his baby and

then NBC's like, hey, we could use another superhero

show. Because everybody else has one. Yeah, they

don't have one. This is their thing, isn't it?

Because CBS's Supergirl, the CW has got their

house on the network. Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow,

and Gotham is on Fox. And with this, it's an

original property for one, so NBC already kind

of owns the rights to it. And then the nice part

with this is the reason the show got canceled

initially is because people were downloading

the show more than actually watching it live.

Yeah, that's what I did. And I did the same thing

because I don't watch commercials. And my wife

and I, when we were sitting down to watch it

tonight, we were like, do we want to watch this

right now or do we want to wait till next week

when we can download it without the commercials

in it? And I told her, I'm like, you know, as

much as I want to do it that way, I'm like, I'd

really like to help the ratings on this show.

Sure. Well, because I know that last week it

had a six point something million viewer. Which

was less than what they were forecasted, but

it was it was good considering that they had

I guess an NFL thing going on in a couple other

shows And a five -year break at that too so Five

years since heroes originally yeah Okay, so I'm

sorry to interrupt Steve, but when it comes to

the ratings The way that the television networks

garner ratings and get ratings nowadays is completely

different from five years ago It is they take

they take into account the downloads on iTunes

and things like that now and here's the thing

Mike is You know Tim Crane was actually saying

I read somewhere that That what the reason the

show got cancelled Was because they didn't take

those downloads and DVRs into account because

the because the network was so firm on the Nielsen

ratings and people watching it right now and

and because the DVR thing and downloads was kind

of on the rise in 2006 to 2010 and Now it's just

the norm and they have to account for it. So

I mean I mean, who knows that if they'll take

those things into account as well as the Nielsen

ratings, that will determine whether the show

gets another season, or who knows? And the thing

about the five -year gap that was kind of nice

is he basically said that Heroes Reborn is season

10. Yeah. The show never ended. He said there's

that whole five -year gap between, so it takes

place in real time in the story. So he's pulling

a 24, okay. Yeah, kind of, but not really. I

mean, you've got to figure, all these shows are

coming back, like 24 X -Files, Heroes. I mean,

it's no surprise that they're going to bring

back shows that they all had because of ratings

and because there's no original ideas anymore.

So if they could bring back something they already

had and there was a strong following for it,

why not? Well, the problem is not that there's

no original ideas. It's just when there's an

original idea, no one watches it, so it gets

canned. Yeah, or or someone people will watch

it But it'll get canned after its third episode

or before its third episode. That's the the other

TV is a double -edged sword it really Well, you

either make it or you don't a film benefit of

the doubt and then it'll get sloshed after it

comes into theater Let's see. I okay I can understand

someone like NBC CBS ABC CW or Fox, but you know

the original, you know the the big five broadcast

numbers i'd i can see them saying okay you're

gonna get a thirteen episode order or what it

is so doing this whole twenty two twenty three

twenty six whatever you're gonna get a thirteen

episode order if by the thirteenth episode your

show doesn't fully succeed then you're not gonna

come back but there are times where nbc has specifically

nbc i'm going to single that out because they

friggin done this and it's pissed me off there

was a show a couple years ago with uh... uh...

david krumholz people will remember him from

uh... the santa claus he was bernard uh... numbers

he was he was in a show numbers uh... numbers

love numbers uh... you know There was a show

with him and a few other people. I don't remember

off the top of my head. It was called the Playboy

Club. It was about the Playboy Club in Las Vegas

in the 1960s. It lasted exactly three episodes

before NBC said screw it. But that whole year

though was kind of weird because a lot of shows

got cancelled that didn't really deserve to be

cancelled. There was like the It has to do with

That prison where all the all the inmates disappeared

and started reappearing a little Yeah, I mean

that show I mean, yeah, it made it Yeah, I enjoyed

the show but it yeah can unfortunately but Let's

not forget Kings on NBC That was can like what

after six episodes uh... you get canceled so

thank god for that nobody wanted that show why

there's a little bit likes the word uh... was

that and it's so three that yet uh... you know

i just didn't while you guys are talking about

all this stuff uh... you know i looked up each

of the net each of the five networks of what's

coming honestly outside of supergirl NBC has

the most new shows that I'm really wanting to

check out this year. Yeah, NBC's got a lot of

new stuff, but they need it because, you know.

A lot of their shows ended, didn't they? Yeah,

30 Rock ended, The Office, Parks and Recreation,

Community, well, that's their own dang fault,

but whatever. They they need content, which is

one of the reasons they're bringing back heroes

is because we need something we need a staple

and it's already got a following so I mean the

fact that All they're doing is bringing back

something people already loved. It's it's guaranteed

at least something in the ratings and The fact

that they've got 13 episodes means that the budget

even though they might spend similar amount of

money even if it's less but they can work harder

and have better quality show. Like, a lot of

the scenery in the original Heroes seemed obviously

green -screened. Oh yeah, oh yeah. Whereas this,

it looks more like more on location stuff. It

doesn't look like any of it's green -screened.

It's pretty solid in its picture quality compared

to the original show. I'm enjoying watching how

things are playing out in it too, but it's again

It calls back to that 13 episode thing that Mike

powers, and I have talked about for the past

year I Mean I've always been a fan of the 13

episode structure in any show because when you

have that many episodes to tell a certain story

You don't have time for the filler And the nice

part about this is he said that even if the show

this this particular mini arc has a beginning,

middle, and end, he said, but that doesn't mean

that they can't continue it in another season.

They're basically pulling what they did with

the volume one, volume two, and the original

Heroes only differences instead of making them

two volumes in one season. They're just having

them separate seasons. When they did the two

volumes in one season, I thought that was a cool

idea at first, but then when it actually played

out, it wasn't the best idea. No, and so in that

sense I'm glad, but I'm also glad that they have

Bennett, again, as the staple of this show and

then they've got guest stars of the old show.

And really, the ones they've got guesting in

this show from the old show are really the only

ones that could guest in it because they killed

off just about everybody else. Did they? Well,

I mean most of them. Did you watch The Old Heroes

recently? I have not watched The Old Heroes recently.

Well, Nathan Petrelli died. Peter Petrelli only

had the one power at a time. Seiler, nobody knows

what happened to him, but he's a good guy now.

Yeah. I mean, I watched it. It's been a few years.

And then, most of it is all the actors don't

want to come back. Yeah. And these are just the

handful that were like, yeah, I'll come back.

Yeah, well, it's because they're not doing anything.

Yeah. Yeah, I mean, it's not like you can always

live long and suck at Zachary Quinto. Yeah, so

they're not even going to mention what happened

to those characters because those actors aren't

going to... Because if they bring up the name

Siler at any point, people are going to be like,

oh, they mentioned Siler. It must be important.

Yeah. Well, especially with this kind of show,

because when I watched the first couple episodes,

whenever they would zoom on a list of names,

I fell back into my old heroes watching habits

and paused my iPad to see what other names there

would be. I mean, it's that kind of show. It

always has been. Well, and they're going to explain

what happened to some of them. Yeah, they're

definitely going to explain Claire because they

have to. Well, they do in this episode. Oh, yeah.

Well, I already know she's dead, so it's fine.

Well, yeah, they showed up. Yeah, but they don't

show, like they explain how, in the way that

they show Bennett how it happened, how he found

out. It leads to like three other people with

powers That's cool that he's had prior experience

with so it it's kind of all raveled into one

But and again part of what they do with like

Molly Walker is kind of tying back into season

one of heroes So yeah again, it's there's a lot

of callbacks, but it's very well written this

time. So yeah, I Guess moving on before We talked

about heroes all night What I've done for the

past week is We finished that superhero class

again. Mm -hmm, which is nice I was a community

teacher assistant on on it this time and unfortunately

in the the voting because what how it's set up

is This semester was changed from last semester.

So there were some differences in how Like, you

could either take the written track or the creative

track. But the written track basically is you

wrote essays every week based on whatever the

course material was. And if you chose the creative

track, you had to create your superhero sketch

pad. And so I did the sketch pad thing again.

Well, when we're all done with it, we got to

submit it on the website. And we were in whatever

the top 40 are for the project. I get put into

a superhero scrapbook. So I think it's basically

the top 20 of the creative, the top 20 of the

analysis, which is the written. Mine barely made

it. But I think what happened is because the

way that they have the voting set up, you can

down vote and up vote, which is not necessarily

conducive to a Environment where people are supposed

to be having fun and showing off what they've

done So it kind of Irked a lot of people that

were involved with the project because like for

instance mine had It had like eight votes on

it and then it went down to like zero within

a couple days because people were down voting

it and then It made it back up to eight, so I'm

in there. But the one that won that's got 45

votes and the other one's got 41, it's almost

like they created additional accounts, joined

it, and then signed because it's so terrible.

The stuff that they wrote, I'm not expecting

mine to be number one, because it's not the most

solid as far as story -wise, but it is pretty

solid. But some of the ones that were above mine

were insanely better than ... the ones that are

the top ones in this project, and they were better

than mine. Like the art, the story, like everything.

So I'm just wondering how the system's not rigged.

So we were, you know, we were brainstorming ways

to fix it for the next time. Like, you know,

eliminating where people can down vote or where

they can see what the number vote is. Cause I

told them our experience with the GCNR wars.

If people can see the answer. It's going to be

a popularity contest. And it's going to be a

ambitious, you know, me, me, me, me voting because

they want to see a certain one win because that's

what they want. Whereas if they can't see, then

it's just an honesty scale because you don't

know what's going on with it and you don't see

it. So I should be getting the urge for that

soon. That'll be nice. And then on top of it,

my media classes which are book work, boring

the hell out of me. I left early the other day

and today we had the teacher back and he went

through his PowerPoint slides and after doing

that he had us watch another documentary which

I didn't want to watch so started working on

the project from last semester which I had to

edit. Got almost all the editing done on it's

a lot nicer than when I had it done before Cool

cool, so Yeah, so who wants to get into the blitz

I Guess we can do that. Let's do it. All right,

we'll be right back after this 10 minute blitz

10 minute blitz 10 minute blitz And we're back

with the 10 minute blitz Alrighty I will set

it's actually gonna go a little bit over 10 minutes

because I'm gonna set these for a minute 30 instead

of a minute 20 because that's just not enough

time If we spill over we spill over Ready Yep,

all right Starting the timer There is news that

the critic the John Lovett show may be coming

back to the airwaves Well, somebody's gonna pick

up Siskel and Ebert slack I Mean I mean and everything

else is coming back. So why the heck not? I Would

actually love for that to come back It's funny

that john lovitz wants to come back to you so

yeah i saw a few episodes and i liked it so what

the hell is he done in the last fifteen years

outside of his comedy theater out there in l

.a. honestly i honestly couldn't tell you yeah

that's the thing that's why the critics coming

back is because they need something to get john

lovitz back in the spotlight well he's done though

you know he's done some uh... Adam Sandler flicks

occasionally, and then he's done some live action

movie parts, but they're not very big parts in

anything. Yeah, again. Not like he used to be.

I have it on DVD. It's in my cabinet. That's

like that rumor from a couple of weeks ago that

Wesley Snipes is talking to Marvel about Blade.

It's just, hey, Marvel movies are really good.

I was in one. I should do one. Yeah, I'm talking

to him. How's he gonna do that and be on his

new TV series the player on NBC at the same time?

Well, the players probably gonna get canceled

anyway He needs to go back to the blade teeth

hello Netflix, yes Moving on Sarah Michelle Gellar

is rumored for Princess Leia in Star Wars Rebels.

I know that they were gonna talk about that But

I don't know if they actually decided whether

she is or not I've heard different things. I

keep hearing different things on who she is I'm

just waiting for everybody to start putting up

art picks of her in the slave Outfits at this

point Funny you should say that Well, I mean

she she got like took a picture of her in like

the white garb with the the ear bun things And

then kind of use that as a hint but I'm not really

sure I Don't know how I feel about Buffy being

Princess Leia and don't get well. She wants to

work with her husband again Which? Wait a minute.

Freddie Prinze Jr. Oh. Who's on Rebels? Plays

Canaan. That's her husband. Oh, wow. I knew that.

I knew that was her husband. I didn't realize

that was him. It's, yeah. I've only seen, like,

the first six episodes of Rebels, so... But I

just... You need to watch the rest of it, man.

You need to watch the rest of it. No, I know.

Oh, it's awesome. All about it. Yeah, I... Yeah,

I'm not gonna end up... being like what i was

with the clone wars where i just didn't really

care that's what i thought that rebels is a better

show than the clone wars who is that everybody

is that everybody in the comments go sick tim

right now and i agree with them i mean i like

the clone wars there are a lot of episodes that

i like and you know i like that they brought

back darth mahl Oh, sorry. I like that they brought

it back to Earth Mall. I loved a lot of Season

6 that was on Netflix, but it had a bit of a

rough start with everything, trying to cater

to the kids and figure out how they were going

to do a Star Wars show on TV and Cartoon Network.

But I really think Rebels, right out of the gate

with that first TV movie thing they did, really

set it off on a nice path. And having wrecks

from Star Tours in the second episode sold me.

So there you go. And we have Lord Vader in there

too, so, and Qui -Gon. And the Emperor too, played

by Sam Witwer from The Force Unleashed. I know

he's very old these days, but I still wish it

was the original Emperor. Ian McDermott. Yeah.

It's not like he's doing anything. Well, he may

have held froms. Who knows? The guy's old. But

it is true. I mean, OK, the way I look at it

and the last thing I'll say it, if he can do

the vocals for Angry Birds Star Wars, come on

now. He can surely do Star Wars Rebels. Well,

Sam Whitworth has a good rapport with Dave Filoni

who ran Clone Wars and also does Rebels. So I

understand why they had him do it. Easy job.

Yeah, easy job. Yeah. So anyway moving on New

Avengers team is confirmed for phase four following

Avengers infinity war. Is that really a surprise?

Not really folks. I'm trying not to scream right

now because between we're not gonna talk about

this But between the Star Wars rumors, between

the two years of the BS that is BBS, the last

thing we need, we're not even up to Infinity

War yet. Hell, we're not even up to Guardians

2. Just... Yeah. Well, it's just, you know, with

everybody's contracts in limbo, the press is

always asking about it. What's going to be the

thing? Are we ending with Infinity War or what

are we doing? They've got to give them something.

They can't say, oh yeah, this is the end of our

story, this phase of the story, but they've got

to give them something. I'm fine with it. That's

why they did the end of Age of Ultron the way

they did with a new Avengers team at the end

of that movie. It makes sense because it's what

they do in the comics. I'm cool with it. It would

be a nice passing of the torch when they actually

get to that point. Yeah. You're gonna probably

see Spider -Man take more of a leadership role.

That's why they're starting to breed all these

younger actors to come in to replace the legendary

icons. The old fogies. Yep. I just want, at this

point with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I know

this isn't gonna happen, but this is my wishful

thinking here. I just want an Iron Man 4 before

Downey says, nope, I'm not doing it ever again.

That's all I want is an Iron Man 4. It's never

gonna happen. Yeah. Just like they're not going

to do a Cap 4. This is it. Yeah. They're pretty

much staunch in the whole trilogies thing, and

that they don't do any more than trilogies. Because

if they were going to announce an Iron Man 4,

they would have announced it at that big Phase

3 thing, which was a year ago, people. A year

ago, they announced all that stuff. I'm cool

with it. I think we'll definitely see Robert

Downey Jr. in... other Marvel movies because

you know he tried to do his own movies and Realized

he wasn't bankable without Tony Stark, so So

yeah, let's face it. We're not getting a Sherlock

Holmes 3. Thank God there. We are oh fuck. They're

working on it They're working on it. They're

also working on Pacific Rim 2, but that's not

happening You know it's funny you mention that

It really is funny you mention that because I

Said something along. I I don't know today on

on Facebook I said something about Something

do it the the Terminator thing the Terminator

franchise not moving forward and Our good buddy

Jonathan Totterin from Canada said something

to the effect of, oh, I mean, yes, you're going

to really enjoy also Pacific Rim being dead too.

I said, yep, I'd dance on its grave. All right.

Yep, you would. Pretty much. All righty. Batman

versus Superman is rated PP13. What? I'm just

shocked. I'm just shocked. I just can't believe

it. Because I thought it was going to be rated

R, honestly. Isn't every movie rated PG -13 if

that can help it? Yes. Because it pushes the

envelope, but not enough to give it an R rating,

unlike Deadpool, which is going to follow the

source exactly. Yeah, but that's Deadpool, though.

Yeah, well, we're going to see Batman have purple

blood because they can't have red. So I'm going

to pull a Batman Beyond and return to the Joker.

No, I'm just joking. Wait, wait, wait. You mean

he's going to slip in a puddle of water and flip

the electric switch on himself now? I think the

other reason is they're going to have him get

down with a little bit of wandering. Yeah, I

mean this this isn't this isn't anything I mean

it's just people wanting to talk about Batman

versus Superman I mean You know I go back to

my childhood. I go back and watch all the classic

old 80s movies and stuff like that And some of

them, because we live in the PG -13 era at this

point, I would say the last 15, 16 years, it's

been all, oh my god, every movie is PG -13. It

actually shocks me to see any film that's rated

R today. But going back and, like, watching,

let's say, for example, because Dodd is off somewhere

being deathly ill, RoboCop. I completely forgot

that RoboCop was rated R. That would totally

be rated PG -13 today. Totally. I know, right?

It would have been PG, because, you know. Yeah.

What was the last thing that was rated PG? I

don't even remember. Unless it's animated, not

much. Yeah. Yeah, I think Big Hero 6 was PG.

Well, yeah, but I don't count animated films

in that, because it's like... You're good. You're

you're You're supposed to be Playing towards

the younger audience, you know to the younger

audience But sometimes you just don't and some

movies are just not some animated movies are

just not safe for kids at all No, I mean Falling

in love at first sight and then realizing. Oh,

hey, I should have done some work anyway Sister

not the system Bad Star Wars joke with dinosaurs

I'm gonna catch shit for that later Speaking

of Batman anyone see the rendition of Robbie

ML as Batman or his thoughts of the whole thing

Just because he's not gonna be in Legends of

Tomorrow, oh my god I'll be interested to see

how they do that, because yeah, like how is Victor

Garber going to be Firestorm? Because in the,

and there's a tangent here, so sorry, but in

the previews for Legends of Tomorrow, they, when

they go to Victor Garber, they always show Firestorm.

So I don't know how that's going to work. Well,

they're going to have the other Firestorm. They're

going to have the Jason Rauch character. Oh,

are they? Okay. Yeah, the 2004 African American

character. I go, okay, that makes sense. The

funny thing is, off air, and I'm so totally throwing

Steve under the bus here, because he and I always

kind of, we don't really bitch and complain about

this, but we always shake our heads when they

race bend any character and change it to fit

the mold of whatever the show is. And he's like,

oh no, you mean that, I said no, it's two separate

characters. He's like, oh, okay. But anyways,

as far as like the Batman Beyond thing, I would

be down for that and I could actually see him

playing the character. Sure. I think he fits

the look and he fits the age group and he could

also do it justice. The only thing I would ask

is if they were going to have him be Terry McGinnis,

they need Keaton back as Old Man Bruce. That

would be the best. I'd love that. You know what

the funny thing is now that Steve says that?

He and I get into this argument about this affair

as well. Now that he says Keaton is old man Bruce,

now all I can think of is, no, no, no, no. Pull

a switch here. Have Friedel as old man Bruce

and then have Keaton as Alfred. It just wouldn't

work. I know it wouldn't work. This is the same

guy saying, oh, Friedle could have been Batman

Beyond. He can still be. Yeah, the animation.

No, the live action. He's too old. He's not too

old. He doesn't even look like Terry McGinnis.

OK, Jeff Bridges. Jeff Bridges didn't look like

Kevin Flynn until they put him in all that digital

crap in Tron Legacy. I mean, you know. And even

then, he still didn't look like Jeff Bridges.

Anyway But now anyway, I would be down with it

with an idea with a Robbie Amell Batman Beyond

kind of movie that would be cool. The only problem

is not many people I mean, we've all seen it

obviously, but not many people have seen Batman

Beyond That's the only problem that they would

run into I think I don't know because The the

idea of a Batman Beyond live -action film has

come up several times before in the last 15 years

Not to mention, in the comics, Batman Beyond

has been pretty frequent in the last five, six

years. I really liked the Batman Beyond comic.

I read one a few years ago. It was really good.

With older Dick Grayson, it was awesome. That

was the Kyle Higgins run. Yeah, it was really

good. I really liked it. Moving on, we have Doc

Brown returning in the Back to the Future 30th

Anniversary. DVD. Yep. Doc Brown has been back

a lot lately. He looks a lot better in that promo

than he has in at least three years. Every time

I see Christopher Lloyd, even though he's not

in the Doc Brown persona, every time I see him,

it's like he's... it's like... because he's getting

older, he's embraced his full -on Judge Doom

persona because every time I've seen him, he's

bald. Well, he is like late 80s, early 90s. I

understand that. I understand that, but it just,

I don't know. And what better time for a Roger

Rabbit reboot? No, no, shut up. Don't give them

ideas. No. You know it's coming Mike, you know

it's coming. It better, as long as it's not a

prequel like it was gonna be. Oh god. But no,

the Doc Brown thing was very cool. Yeah, it was

really cool. I really liked that they put him

in the outfit and then he's like spasticly getting

out of the car and then he just looks around

and then he goes, Great Scott! Just like he's

throwing himself back into that character again.

It's really cool. I think it's funny that he's

just You know, even though he's like so old and

you can tell it sounds like forced almost at

this point In his vocals because it's just he's

got to hit those registers and with effort but

yeah It's it's so much harder nowadays because

he's so old. Yeah, and but I mean he still plays

it off really well I'm surprised we haven't gotten

to it Well, we kind of have but I'm surprised

we haven't gotten to the point yet where he can

just go Into the future and have you know some

work done to himself Like you mentioned in in

the second movie 20 more days 20 more days I

Look forward to seeing that anyway, I I need

to see a list of the I don't know if I have the

DVD version of the 30th anniversary set that's

coming out on the 21st I have it in my Amazon

wishlist I don't know if the DVD is gonna have

the same features as the blu -ray because sometimes

they'll put certain features on certain versions

and Disney's notorious for that. It's one of

those things where the 2005 version of Back to

the Future, I think it was like a five or six

or seven disc set, has everything you could ever

want. Granted, that was 10 years ago, but still

it had every single feature. Even the 25 year

edition, which I have, that I bought five years

ago, has everything. It had the Blu -ray, the

digital copy. All the special features, the commentaries,

the pop -up things. I mean, what more could they

do, really? I just wish all that content would

be transferred over to the 30th, but whatever,

what are you going to do? But they are adding

the animated series to that ultimate set, so

there you go. The Blu -ray version, you mean?

Yeah, yeah, I think so, yeah. I think I read

that somewhere. Why they can't just put it on

both versions, but whatever yeah disc space man

disc space DVDs don't hold as much as blu -rays

you need five DVDs for every blu -ray That's

also true still they could release the animated

series as a separate set I just torn it like

everybody else I did not just endorse that on

purpose. I just dumb bastard. I'm just saying

If they don't want to release it for money, it's

free game. I would pay money. I said would. Anyways,

I'm going to skip the Nickelodeon one. It's basically

they're just gonna have all that panel and some

of the like for the original I mean the story

you could have thrown in there was the listing

of what the 90s channel is gonna have Well, I

already covered that oh you did But it's my life

around man. I haven't I still I still have episode

101 to 107 to catch up on and you're screwed

Fans are petitioning for the 90s spider -man

cartoon to return I'd be down with this I've

been I've been slowly making my way through that

old show because I was fiddling around on YouTube

one day and stumbled upon the I don't know what

convention was that but it was the anniversary

panel with all the voice actors and John Semper

and it was really cool to watch and made me want

to watch that show again, so and I really liked

that show and think they kind of left it on somewhat

of a cliffhanger, so I'd be down for it to return.

The only problem is somewhat of a cliffhanger.

Are you kidding? I mean seriously No, I'm saying

I'm saying in a good way that was the biggest

cliffhanger of 90s animation at the time because

that is oh my god face front true believer We're

gonna go find Mary Jane Watson and credits. It's

like yeah Like what like that? Yeah No, but I'd

be down with it. The only problem is Ultimate

Spider -Man is on Yeah, that's the only problem.

Funny thing is, I don't care about any of those

Spider -Man cartoons other than this one. I'm

sure that this one, the recent one, is really

good. I just don't. For one, I don't like the

animation style and I just don't care for teenage

Peter Parker. You are going to hate the new Spider

-Man come May. You know, you say that, but I've

enjoyed almost all, I've enjoyed the first films

of... Screw you Yeah, no But uh the first the

first spider -man movie that came out and what

was it 2002 yeah, I went and saw that in theater

when it was new and Really liked the movie and

then the second one came. I really didn't care

and third one I really didn't care then the amazing

spider -man comes out the first film was good

the second film was just You can say it, Steve.

A colossal train wreck. Yeah, it's a colossal

train wreck. It was as bad as Spider -Man 3.

I would say worse, but that's just me. Yeah,

I would kind of agree. At least Spider -Man 3

is washable. Yeah. I mean, at least Spider -Man

3 has the glorious pie scene from James Franco.

The other thing I didn't like from Spider -Man

3 was the emo Peter Parker, but the rest of it

I was fine with. Yeah. Yeah, sure, sure, sure.

But uh, yeah, the amazing spider -man 2 is just

garbage The hero broke her back. Yeah, you're

so good. So we're talking about spider -man and

We brought up the old classic 94 animated series.

I actually interviewed John Semper jr. Last year

on the 20th anniversary day of release That was

the 20th. Yeah, I don't know if it was I don't

know how long the interview is. I don't remember.

I don't have it pulled up. I'm not looking at

it. But it was a pretty in -depth interview talking

to him about what the show was about and where

he would go from here and stuff like that. It

was pretty awesome. So we're talking about Spider

-Man. I saw something on Facebook the other day

through their little trending thing that they're

going to take. And this is a fan film that was

done. They're going to take Gwen. And they're

going to do the Spider -Gwen story. like what

has been done in the comics recently. And they

have Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy in this fan film.

It's the Spider -Man movie we need. We really

deserve it. Yes, we do. Yeah, you're probably

right. The last Spider -Man films were just crap,

but it's a crap. It's a crap No, I mean, do you

guys follow the the spider -man animated series

Facebook page? No. Yes. Oh That's really good

because John Semper is always posting something.

Oh, yeah, it's really really good information

I really like when something that's that's one

of the reasons why I Had interviewed him was

because he created that page. Nice Yep, so But

I'm gonna take a break gonna jump into some technobabble.

Oh boy technobabble The worst part of Star Trek.

I'm sorry Yeah, right for those that didn't understand

science So anyways, there's this they call it

magical concrete They and I got this article

from gizmodo, but they they showed And it's,

they're using it in like the UK. They've tried

it out a couple of instances. And it's, it's

like this porous concrete that's got air pockets

throughout it. So it doesn't like buckle and

it sucks the water down through to the, to the

ground underneath. So it doesn't damage the concrete

or settle on top of it or, um, pool up and flood,

which I thought was really neat because they

had a truck dump a thousand gallons of water

a minute. on this thing and it was like like

6 000 gallons of water or something which was

a colossal waste of water but it um was amazing

to watch them dump this it's cool yeah i it would

be they they said the only thing they're working

on now is to try and get it so that it works

in cold climate because otherwise it like obviously

is going to freeze and destroy it So it only

works in like warmer climates So Speaking of

water. Oh wait, we're in techno battle. Technically

water on Mars is not technology damn. Well, it

technically Is discovered by NASA so it counts

great, yeah We still can't breathe on that damn

planet I don't care if they're, it's like, oh,

there's water on Mars, oh my god, there must

be life on Mars, that's great. Well, we're all

gonna eventually have to leave the Earth, you

know, years and years and years down the line,

and once it's destroyed, I mean, unless some

- Well, that's all the more reason to find a

place to live. Yeah, but Mars, I mean, it doesn't

- We're not gonna live in domes. No. Did you

see, uh - No, no, no, no, no. We're not. Pulling

a lightspeed rescue. Well, well, I was gonna

say there's there's two different instances I

was watching that has that's kind of related

to this Stephen Colbert was talking to Elon Musk

about his his new Tesla and it's this new SUV

and it's uh, it's got a bioweapon defense mode

on it And he more or less asked Elon Musk, he's

like, so you're either the superhero we need

or you're a super villain. And he's like, so

which one are you? And he couldn't get him to

comment either way. But he brought up, he said

that the new Tesla, I guess, is supposed to have

like this HEPA filter thing in there, so if like

chemical warfare type stuff, they're like, oh,

it'll clean the air, you'll be safe inside your

car. I just can't. I just started laughing when

I heard that and it's got these like almost DeLorean

doors on it, which is kind of cool. But that

aside, they were bringing up the fact that Elon

Musk has his hands in so many different cookie

jars of the tech world. One of them being the

space exploration stuff to Mars. And he says,

so what would you do to live on Mars? He says,

obviously they'd build domes and have that kind

of stuff. He says, what if you wanted to do it

quickly? And he says, I'd drop a nuclear bomb

on the North Pole and the South Pole. He says,

instant atmosphere. When you said we're all going

to live in domes, the first thing I thought of

was the Simpsons movie in Homer. Oh! Spider Pig

does whatever a spider pig does. He's not Spider

Pig anymore, he's Harry Plopper. So Skype is

rolling out, I knew about it, but I didn't really,

I mean I haven't seen it physically on Skype,

but I guess they're rolling out this universal

translator for everybody. Is it a paid feature?

It probably will be a paid feature. I don't think

so. I think it's just built into the application.

That would be cool. I don't know how it's supposed

to work though. That's the only thing I want

to know. And then of course the final thing in

Technobabble before we take a quick break and

then come back and finish it out. There's this

new... and Mike knows what I'm going with this

app that's being worked on that is basically

it's called people and you rate people but you

have to enter them in with their cell phone number

and if you know them and you're supposed to rate

them you know the only thing I don't like about

this is and I watched I'm not sure if any of

you are familiar with Philip DeFranco. I've heard

the name He's he's gonna he he does source fed

like He opens it all. Hmm. Anyways, he He had

a Video on it the other day I think it was today

or yesterday or something like that and he says

how was this a good idea? You know, because the

people that are creating it think it's such a

great idea because they're like, it's basically

like a Yelp for people so you can, you know,

tell if they're good or not. And he's like, this

just makes it easier for the trolls. And yeah,

it's just like the Facebook dislike button. Well,

it's, it's going to allow people to, um, you're

going to see a lot more cyber bullying because

people are going to, you know, because obviously

people get hair up their ass and they start tearing

into each other. Yep. We were going back and

forth on Twitter about it earlier today. They're

saying obviously don't give it more exposure,

but I'm never going to use this app. I think

it's the most pile of crap thing because they're

saying that when we're going back and forth saying

about how it's going to pull from some of your

social profiles. It's gonna be in real kind of

murky grounds of Of the the the privacy spectrum

I Mean, how would you not get in trouble if we're

get sued for like slander or having a bad grade

on this or you know? Anything like that. I just

don't see how it's a viable The only thing no

good can come out of this. No, the only thing

Tim mentioned earlier the Facebook dislike button

We've needed this for years because this isn't...

It's fake. I know, I understand that, but I'm

saying that a dislike button on Facebook, I don't

know why Facebook hasn't done this, because it

just seems wrong to me if someone posts something

that they're having a hard time or they're going

through a family crisis or something. It just

seems wrong to me. Clicking the like button on

that on a status like that because are you liking

that they're having a hard time or yeah? That's

why I want the Facebook dislike button the only

problem is you should just have an agree button

There's the thumbs up for like yeah or they should

just have agree. The only problem with the Facebook

dislike button is, and it will go the other way,

if it goes the other way, and then someone dislikes

something that they disagree with, and then someone

gets all worked up about it. That's the only

problem I see for the dislike button. But no,

Mike, I totally get where you're coming from

for the dislike button, though. So this thing,

this app, it reminds me of, and I'm sure you

guys remember this because you're both old enough.

Everybody remember the racing arcade cabinet

game, San Francisco Rush 2049 or San Francisco

Rush in general? Yeah, sure. So this racing arcade

game, San Francisco Rush, it back in the day

when people actually knew what a pay phone was

on there in order to get a high score in order

to be entered to get the high score you had to

enter on the game console it had a separate it

actually had a pay phone number pad on it you

had to enter your phone number on the thing that's

what this app reminds me of I know I know the

app is different than this game but because obviously

it's you know for Spy crap. This whole app thing,

it's like, oh my god. Will Smith's wife and enemy

of the state, Regina King, was right. Right.

My question is, what's a payphone? Tim, come

on now. No, I know what a payphone is. I'm kidding.

What's a flip phone? What's a phone that doesn't

flip? I just don't give a darn. Oh, that's our

short stop And with that we're gonna be right

of the night. Last week, I kind of mentioned

about heroes and then OzTronPrime commented about

watching Heroes are Born and kind of likes it

with theories. He's betting that Katana Girl

is Hero's daughter, you know, with the time travel

and everything else. I'm kind of guessing similar

situation. I tried baiting the creator of the

show on Twitter to see if he would respond, because

he was responding to some other things about

tonight, but I couldn't get an answer. Or at

least some kind of a hint or response, one way

or the other. You did say there were multiple

parent -child relationships in the show. Yeah,

and so I said, you mean like Katana Girl and

Hero? And I couldn't get a response, so I was

kind of sad. I mean, I don't know about that.

It's just like people saying that John Boyega's

character in Star Wars is either related to Lando

Calrissian or the Kid and Rebels or Mace Windu.

I don't know. That's just what, this is my thing,

though. Never know. Yeah, I mean it could be

and I won't be disappointed, but you know cool

Well if Boba didn't get eaten by the sarlacc

at least he can get his revenge if that guy if

if that character is Mace's son considering Mace

cut his dad's head off well Well Jedi are selling

themselves. They are saying that Boba Fett might

actually be in this movie Huh as a disguised,

more so as an old man, but like a disguised guy,

not wearing the Mandalorian armor. Interesting.

That was the rumor. I don't know if it's true.

There are a lot of rumors. There's always rumors.

I am so far removed from anything Star Wars Episode

VII at this point. Like, I pay attention to the

trailers and that's it. That's all right. What

trailers? Christian's been spotted for Episode

VIII, so... Wait, what? That's what I've been

trying to bring up for two weeks. Yeah, he's

rumored for episode 8, so I'm guessing that if

he is in episode 8, he'll either be a force ghost

or Kylo Ren's going to, because he's an extreme

Vader fanboy, he's going to revive Vader. No,

no, no, no. They've already said that... that

he's supposed to play kaila rand's got this infatuation

vader collecting everything that was his name

speculating that part of his helmet is vader's

helmet although burnt just uh... i don't know

thankfully they can bring back padme she don't

want to come back i don't know that almost tinked

her career no i think um... just like you probably

doesn't want to come back from the thor film

No, no, I think where the heart is tanked her

career. Walmart. Moving on so I don't get stabbed

with a fork. Oh, are you kidding me? That was

hilarious. I'm just pulling a mic. I'm pulling

obscure like comments from movies. You know what's

funny about that movie is what dates that movie

is that Walmart closed at night. before the 24

hours she lived in the sporting goods section

yeah like that could never happen today they'd

be like hey get the hell out yeah like what are

you doing it honestly depends on the area it

does it does it does that you live in for 24

or walmart's because ours the one here in louisville

that's over on uh bachelor manor lane down the

area i used to live at now um it used to be 24

hours and then there were too many Shoplifters.

Yeah, that's what I've noticed the the more notorious

the area the more often they are gonna close

it at You know a normal time and not be over

24 hours and the more vibrant the area and in

high class Same thing with McDonald's the McDonald's

that I used to live by used to be 24 hours And

I used to love it and now it's not it's like

oh give me a break already Well you can always

go you know To Taco Bell Open to 2 a .m. Or later.

Yeah, no back up at 4. Yeah, but this drive -through

though Yeah, still you can walk up to the window

Give me that gave me our damn tacos Anyways epicurious

obsidian when we were coming about the core utility

of the internets He says that the big reason

the White House made a statement that the Internet

is core utility is because conservatives like

Jeb Bush have blatantly stated that they would

repeal net neutrality among other things. And

then we were kind of going back and forth about

how politicians are ass -hats in the gist of

it. Yes. Because I don't want to get into politics.

Yeah, no, it's almost its own and topic show

entirely GCR and wars episode 1 Healthcare horrors

and Obama healthy healthcare. No dirty government

and healthcare horrors. That's what it was. Yep.

That's you want to hear my thoughts on it. You

go listen to that Because I bet you my conversation

has not changed And then the crazy thing is it's

the only episode Brian's ever been on it's the

only episode that wasn't actually geek related

Mm -hmm that we've covered well, I was like I

want to talk about politics That's probably the

least downloaded show of wars obviously obviously

So superheroes are us is what I'm calling this

next section Which is funny So Feige is teasing

a season or phase three I'm excited for all this

stuff Super excited for all this stuff. I mean,

I'm just ready for all these movies to just start

happening I mean, I I love that we got Ant -Man

in July, but I almost wish that we got it in

November as was originally planned So that we

wouldn't have to wait as long between Ant -Man

and Civil War, but whatever Would almost rather

see them come up with movies about every every

three months Rather than Well, they're gonna

start doing that in 2017. Yeah, which I'm excited

for which for obvious reasons. Yeah But now I'm

excited for all the Infinity War stuff that they're

talking about doing I mean, because all this

stuff that was teased by Kevin Feige was at this

event where they were promoting the Blu -ray,

which comes out today at the time of recording

or tomorrow at the time of recording, depending

on when this episode comes out. And they were

asking questions about Infinity War and how the

shared universe affects the individual movies

and stuff like that. And one of the producers

said that they were actually looking to source

materials from two different Thanos -related

comics, one being the Infinity Gauntlet comic

from way back and the Infinity run that was Brian

Hickman's run that was only two years ago, which

is crazy if you think about it, because Batman

v Superman is only doing the Dark Knight Returns,

which was, what, 25 years ago? Yeah, so I like

that they're pulling from all these recent stories

and framing their movie around that as opposed

to just sticking to this one story. Because didn't

we get Dark Knight Returns and The Dark Knight

Rises? Not really. There was a couple little

elements in there, but it was a mixture of that,

kind of Nightfall, Long Halloween. No Man's Land.

No Man's Land. It was a mixture of five different...

plot lines from the comics. And that's how they

got the Dark Knight Rises, which is why it's

such a travesty. Yeah. Because they couldn't

just stick to one. Oh, let's overcomplicate this

with five different sagas that took years to

tell in the DC Comics timeline. Right, so basically

what Steve is saying, ladies and gentlemen is

the Dark Knight Rises is the Spider -Man 3 of

the DC films. No No, I'm saying in all the Dark

Knight Rises. Yeah, I agree with that The Dark

Knight Rises is the Spider -Man 3 of the Warner

Brothers DC films in the sense of Spider -Man

3 had too many villains blah blah blah Dark Knight

Rises is made up of too many stories. It's just

yeah, it was too busy. Yeah, yeah But I'm excited

for all the stuff that they're doing with Dr.

Strange. I'm excited for Avengers Infinity War,

even though it's several years out. I'm also

very excited for Captain America Civil War. So

I'm excited for all of it. Next year is going

to be a big year anyway with Civil War. Oh my

gosh. Batman vs Superman with Deadpool. Suicide

Squad. New X -Men. Yeah. So I mean, it's going

to be a busy year. I mean, Star Trek. That's

right, that is coming out. Oh, wow. Yep, Rogue

One. So, gonna be a busy year. Yep. So, obviously

Marvel not to be outdone has contingency plans

should they get Fantastic Four and X -Men back.

I think we can all agree that the likelihood

of them getting Fantastic Four back is higher

than X -Men. Yeah, I don't see X -Men leaving

Marvel or leaving Fox anytime soon. I see Fantastic

Four going back to the Maker. Yeah. And that

becoming probably like, I would, I don't know.

I don't know if that would lend itself well to

a TV show. I'd almost... You could do it. You

could do it. I think I'd rather see it as a TV

series because it would give them more time to

kind of flesh out the characters, whereas the

movies are just kind of a cobbled together pile

of garbage. Well, see, the thing with Fantastic

Four is they're called Marvel's first family,

and family relationships develop over time. And

I think a TV show would be a great avenue for

that. The problem is with the last Fantastic

Four movie is, one, they skipped over the good

development time and just plopped everyone together

at the end. It was a mess. It was a mess. It

was a miss but but I would rather I mean I want

Fantastic Four back at Marvel not to have the

Fantastic Four back at Marvel but everything

else that is under the Fantastic Four umbrella

like Galactus or The Watcher or any of the cool

Silver Surfer stuff I know everyone hates the

cloud, but the best Galactus we've ever had Superhero

Squad with George Takei doing the voice. Hmm.

I'm very hungry. Oh my You've never seen Superhero

Squad with Galactus in it I've now I've never

seen any Superhero Squad Seriously, what is wrong

with you? I still have to see I still have to

watch Avengers assemble and Avengers Earth's

Mightiest Heroes. I haven't seen any of those

shows I haven't seen either one of those, but

still, either way. Yeah, but it looks funny,

so I want to check it out. And jumping into some,

uh, Arrow. Stephen Amell finally says Green Arrow

in a new international superhero trailer. The

trailer was awesome. It was. Like, I want that

channel. Where all the all the you know, why

don't we have that? Yeah, like all the superhero

related shows on one channel And then have the

old superhero show reruns like during the day

like, you know Lois and Clark or the old Superman

show the old Batman show Batman animated series

on Saturday morning for the kids, you know, it's

awesome But I would love that network that would

be awesome now, yeah Am so ready for flash and

arrow like I said a couple weeks ago when I was

on briefly Whatever episode episode 104 whatever

I don't remember You know, I'm really like now

that they're going in a new brighter direction

for arrow I'm really excited for arrow. Yeah

me Me too. I mean and the fact that he is green

arrow because the first episode is called green

arrow The fact that he's being called Green Arrow

now is exciting and refreshing. It's just a natural

evolution. I think I said this in the last time

I was on the show to Steve. Everybody bitched

and complained when the show first started. Oh

my God, why isn't it Green Arrow? Why isn't it

this? If you look at the three years that that's

happened, he's evolved and he's had to evolve

into that persona. Yeah, yeah, absolutely, absolutely.

Well, he was like the... He was the archer and

the vigilante. The man in the hood. The man in

the hood. The arrow. The arrow, now the green

arrow. Yeah. Oh wow, he was Rachel Gould for

like a whole five seconds. Yeah. Keep the bat

shit out of it. That was a little bit of guano.

Where's Ace Ventura when you really need him?

always borrowed from because arrow doesn't because

green arrow doesn't have a rogues gallery they

have to batman's got more than anybody else yeah

it's true it's true does have a rogues gallery

it just isn't as big as batman's just nobody

knows who the hell they are well everybody knows

count vertigo i mean yeah but i mean still do

they though do they yeah I mean, he's already

fought the Clock King. He's already had, you

know, Ra's Al Ghul. He's hit Slade. Slade's not

coming back anytime soon. Yeah. He's behind real

bars. Yeah. And I really didn't like the episode

in which he came back. I thought he was wasted

in that episode last season. Bad writing and

a bad plotline. Yeah The writing and last season

of Arrow was all over the place for me. I mean

just I'm becoming more excited for season four

after season three out with the lighter direction

because obviously the flash is a turning heads

because of its lighter tone as opposed to arrow

is a Batman tone that it's had for the past couple

years So it needs to bring balance to the force.

Yes. I mean, here's the thing with the flash.

Um, last season is the people in aero that were

on aero and also on the flash seemed to have

more fun on the flash than they were then when

they were on aero. I mean, since we're talking

about flashing our arrows, um, you know i think

that uh... uh... steven amal did a facebook live

chat or whatever i don't even know it's similar

to something in the world live streamer you stream

would be but it's on facebook specifically he

said that last season when arrow was the introductory

point for the flash in the flash going off in

his own series When they did crossovers last

season, you could watch one show or the other.

He said for this year, for arrow season four

and the flash season two, you can't just watch

one or the other. They're all going to all the

crossovers that they do eventually do are all

going to be tied together. So you can't just

watch. One half of the story from one show and

not watch the other half of the story from the

other show. Well, they've also said that arrow

season four and flash season two. are going to

lead directly into Legends of Tomorrow. Right.

Like the first half of those seasons. Right,

absolutely. So that's exciting too. So it's almost

like they're doing the Marvel thing, but on TV.

It's pretty cool. Yep. So yeah, with The Flash,

I mean, they've already introduced Who you know,

I mean they've introduced zoom who's like a blue

flash Supposed to be worse than you have art

on and then zooms black flash. I'm calling it

You didn't know that Well, he's the have you

ever watched final destination any of them Anyways,

he's the African -American guy that plays the...

Yeah, he was Worf's brother on Star Trek. He's

the guy that plays... He runs the morgue in all

the Final Destination films. Oh, okay. Yeah,

well, I know who Tony Todd is. Yeah. Yeah, I

mean, but what I'm saying is that I'm thinking

Zoom... Because Zoom is an alias for the reverse

flash in the comics. So I'm thinking that this

version of Zoom is going to be Black Flash, which

is something that is always out to kill the Flash.

He could never outrun the Black Flash, because

they're always out to kill the other. The Black

Flash is always out to kill all Speedsters through

the Speed Force. Could be interesting, but it's

also nice to see Jay Garrick in his costume.

Oh, I love his costume. It's so awesome. Yeah,

I definitely like that. I think that that's a

really cool suit that they gave him. And using

the helmet where it doesn't look cheesy is an

accomplishment. Yeah, it actually looks really

good. Yeah, which have always given marks to

the Flash because they were able to make all

these crazy concepts with the Flash with time

travel and speed force actually work. For a general

audience. On a TV budget. Yeah, on a TV budget,

nonetheless. So, yeah. So do we think they're

going to hit the crisis on Infinite Earths? Oh,

absolutely. No, actually, no. Well, yeah, probably.

Well, we are going to have multiple speedsters

in this season alone, like three, I think. Yep.

Flash, Wally West, and Jay Garrick. What people

have to remember is that CBS and Warner Brothers

are the CW. So this isn't just some, this isn't

like the old days where it was the WB network

and we threw just enough money at something to

make it halfway decent. Like they're really going

forward with their superhero lineup. I mean these,

this isn't the, don't get me wrong, as much as

I enjoy, 85 % of Smallville. This isn't the Smallville

days when it comes to television. No, no, no,

I totally agree with you. I totally agree with

you because now that you know, because I mean

the thing with Smallville is, you know, because

of the way that show was when they started introducing

like the high concept superhero stuff, like the

really ultra geeky stuff, they really couldn't

do it because they didn't know how their, you

know, tween audience would take it. But since,

you know, now with the CW that Smallville worked

and, you know, Supernatural worked, they can

do these genres, like high genre concepts, like

multiple earths, like the Speed Force and make

it work and make it awesome. Yeah. And, you know,

because of the direction that the flash is going,

I don't mind that the DC Comics African American

Wally West is going to be in the show. Yeah.

I mean, it makes sense because... Because of

Joe and Iris. Yeah, exactly. So... Yeah. I mean,

yeah. You know, we all can't have Michael Rosenbaum

as Wally West all the time. Oh, that would be

the best. And he's... Michael Rosenbaum, at this

point in his career, he's too busy being an imposter

to go back to being the Flash. Yeah. That's a

show. We'll be covering on remote control. That

show was really awesome I've not seen it. I guess

I guess I should watch it. It's a it's a TV land

show Yeah, which she you know you think TV land.

Oh my god It's supposed to be old television,

but every network now no matter who you are is

getting into new stuff. It's It's basically it's

It's not as deep or as dark as what Breaking

Bad is, but it's a similar concept except So

it is a dark comedy then? It kind of, yeah. His

character is a... I don't know how to explain...

I'll tell you all fair what it is, but basically

what happens is that he eventually comes upon

this guy who was supposed to be this pastor of

this town and somehow the guy dies, so he takes

over his identity. So that's why it's called

Impaster, but it's got Sarah Rue in it, of all

people. It's got Dr. Stephanie Barnett from the

Big Bang Theory in it, and she's a hell of a

lot skinnier than what she was on the Big Bang

Theory. She was pretty thin there, too. Not really.

It's been a while since I've watched that episode.

Yeah, I mean, I'm pretty optimistic they're going

to hit the crisis. I think it would be really

awesome if they managed to, even if it was briefly,

tie into Supergirl or some of these other shows

and possibly with the time travel thing and the

infinite universes and planets, could eventually

just tie them together for an episode. The only

thing... Even if, with the fact that... You know,

they'd forget when they went back. Do you guys

think that they'll do a flash arrow Supergirl

crossover thing? They may. I don't think it'll

happen right now. But being that CBS owns the

rights to Supergirl, which also is part owner

of CW, it's not out of the improbable. Yeah.

I know these rumors were false at the time, but

my one hope for Supergirl is that Superman they

talking about in that show Ends up being Tom

Welling. I know it won't but that's my one hope

for Supergirl And like he's doing anything else

he's in that Nicholas Sparks movie, which is

probably gonna be really good You mean as good

as the underside of a tire yeah, yeah, yeah And

he's put and he's put on Because because someone

posted a picture of him in the suit no well not

in the suit, but but of Him in his newest Nicholas

Sparks movie that he's gonna be in and he is

he has put on a few pounds So he's not looking

as super as he used to back in the day Well,

he does work on a farm more now, so I'm not saying

anything bad about it. I'm just saying that's

you know Right So anything you guys want to bring

up before we close it out to promote Showtime

synergies coming back the pull bag is coming

back and wire is gonna be on the road to episode

150 To gas beyond is getting a Halloween episode

this year seeing as how I finally watched the

full season one of Gravity Falls So that's what
