Scotty Cash with Mike. What's up, buddy? What's

going on, dude? Not much. Today we will be covering

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Season 3. So, before

we forget, because we sometimes forget and have

to talk about it at the end of the show, first

of all, didn't know about the changing date.

about new samurai episodes that sucked i'm like

wait i've already seen this like last sunday

i was like wait i've already seen this one what

the hell yeah and then you told me it switched

to saturday which is so stupid no doubt especially

when they don't tell you that's how a lot a lot

of cartoons and different series uh get canceled

because then i don't i know i don't want to go

back to the he -man but that's how the new adventures

of he -man not new adventures i'm sorry The one

that was on Cartoon Network. Masters 2002. Yeah.

Because it was like, hey, this is going to be

on Fridays. Or on Saturday mornings. Well, then

Sunday. Well, then maybe Thursdays. And then

you don't even know what the hell is going on.

So you've got to watch Cartoon Network apparently

24 hours a day to catch the new episode. But

yeah, my DVR. I got home Saturday and my DVR

had it recorded. And I was like, what the heck?

So I started to watch it, and I didn't text you

until Sunday to see if you watched it. And you're

like, no, that was a rerun. And I'm like, nope,

no, it wasn't, bud. Sorry about that. Oh, hell.

But, yeah, I've seen the latest two where they

introduced the Sixth Ranger. Now that I've seen

the latest episode that just aired this past

week, I'm kind of getting used to him. The episode

that introduced Antonio. Absolutely freaking

hated the character. Could not stand it. First

of all, his ranger outfit, it's straight up booster

gold. That's all it is. His attitude is straight

up booster gold. At least his attitude is getting

better with this latest episode. But that introduction

episode, oh, my God. I loved it. I wanted to

reach right through the fucking TV and strangle

that boy. Oh, I love this last episode, too.

The last episode I can handle. I don't like the

showboatism of him when he's in costume. I just

don't like that. You know, they don't need something

in this show to ham it up. That's what Bulk and

Spike, I almost said Skull, but Bulk and Spike

are for. Well, yeah, but, I mean, a lot of the

footage is just Sentai footage, and the Sentai

character is just, from what I've seen, like,

just seen in the movie, he's like a freaking

Looney Tunes character. He's like... you know

i've never i haven't seen any episodes but like

again the movie after he morphs he's like flopping

around like a like a fish he's just like crazy

so you know they had to make him kind of ridiculous

like that but i did i did absolutely love his

um mega ranger suit or whatever you want to call

it like when they go into the sword yeah that

was awesome that black and gold like that yeah

i I like the black and gold. The blue and gold,

though, that's a little much. I like the gold

in the costume, but the blue, again, it reminds

me too much of Booster Gold, who, in my opinion,

is the worst comic book character ever. You don't

mean that. I hate that guy. How do you hate Booster

Gold? I don't know. He's arrogant. He's unnecessary.

He goes back in time to try to change the past

so he can get famous. Yeah, I mean, if you look

at him like, he's kind of like Superman. He's

just awesome. Well, then you're ridiculous. But,

you know, it's a different take on a superhero.

You know what I mean? So it's like they had to

do something different instead of the guy running

into the other room and changing into clothes.

I do like the Octazord, though. That's pretty

cool. Yes, I agree. He also has another Zord,

too, that I'm pretty sure of. I don't know about

the Sentai version, but I've seen the toy that

is coming out. So I know for sure that... the

Gold Ranger is going to have another Zord. Well,

there goes my... See, I think it went like...

I get what they're doing with building this whole

thing up with, you know, Jaden and G are the

ones that first started the... I almost said

ninja. Samurai training and all that stuff, and

they're bringing all these other people in, and

Antonio was his friend as a kid. First of all,

explain to me, how the hell can you go from kids...

Speaking in an Australian accent to adults that

speak in completely different accents. I don't

know. It would be like if they took you out of

where you live and put you in Brooklyn. Like

10. Oh, Lord. Yeah. Rob Bass, the Power Ranger,

lovely. Yeah. You love Rob Bass. It doesn't get

thicker than Rob Bass's accent. I know it. For

the longest time, I just thought he didn't know

how to talk correctly. I love that guy. But it's

Jaden and G getting all these people together

and getting – I see where they went with that,

but I think it would have been a much more interesting

storyline if they had, what's his name, Decker,

or whatever, his human form be somehow tied to,

like, you know, double agent playing both sides.

I thought that would have been a little bit better

storyline. So you're saying you thought he was

going to be the Gold Ranger? Yeah, I thought

he was going to be the Sixth Ranger, yeah. I

gotcha, yeah. I knew for a fact that that wasn't

going to be him. Just from the movie, we have

an American version of their Chinese version.

In that Sentai movie, he looks exactly like Decker,

except for he's Chinese. He's got the goatee

and the long hair and everything. I'm kind of

confused the way you're saying. You realize that...

Jaden and Master G didn't bring in the other

Rangers, right? That their parents or family

members were Rangers, and that's why they are

Rangers now? Right. No, I understand that, but

what I'm saying is, from the little bits that

Jaden and Master G have had in the last couple

episodes, with Jaden's whole quest to become

this great leader or whatever the hell that was,

basically him feeling guilty, basically... what

I got from the last couple episodes just dealing

with Jaden was he feels guilty for having to,

you know, hold the team up and this, that, and

the other thing. And, and I know that the other

Rangers had other, you know, their, their families

were descendants, but just the way I interpreted

it was that Jaden and master G kind of brought

them in, like kind of organized everybody like,

yeah, the families were there, but. they're all

individuals. And again, this is me going off

of not ever seeing whatever that stupid intro

we were supposed to get that we still haven't

fucking gotten yet. Yeah. Well, you're off of

sorts of cussed words today, aren't you? Yeah.

It'll get worse next episode with Alien Rangers.

Oh, my God. Anyway, what else are you up to?

Before we get off the subject, I hated... I don't

like that they're supposed to be protecting...

which is going to end up being this great ranger,

because it's like the Power Rangers are supposed

to stand for team, and they always get their

zords, and the person that gives them their zords

is always like, remember, you're a team, and

now this samurai team is like, hey, look, we're

a team, except for we need to protect him, and

we don't care if we die because he is the master.

No. Yeah, that's just dumb. Yeah, I don't really

like, I mean. I don't know. I like Jaden all

right, but I just don't know yet. We definitely

need to get these first couple episodes. That's

really putting a hole in everything. You know,

yeah, that is. And it hurts us as U .S. viewers

because... we don't get the whole story. It's

like almost every episode, at least two episodes

have focused on Kevin, one episode focused on

Mike, one episode focused on Mia, one episode

focused on Emily, and the last few have focused

on Jaden. Yeah. And it's like, so you're building

up the samurai team story arc by exploring each

individual first? I don't like that. Right. That's,

ugh. And they're doing the exact same crap that

they did in Ninja Storm with having an introduction,

having a scene, and then having the theme introduced.

I hate that. That whole story of, oh, six million

years ago, blah, blah, blah, blah, Rangers this,

Samurai that. And then they have a little intro

scene with the characters and stuff. And then

it cuts to the actual intro to the show with

them saying their names over the intro. And I'm

like... Why are you doing that? I think last

week's episode, they didn't do that, and I liked

it better, where they just started the show,

and then went into the little intro theme, and

then came back to the show. But that beginning

part is so unnecessary. We're what? We're what,

11, 12 episodes in now? We get it. Something

like that. We get it. We don't need, you know?

Yep. Oh, God. Other than Power Rangers stuff,

what else have you been up to? That's about it.

I watched Go Kaijar today, episode 12. It's just

outstanding. I know you're not a Sentai guy,

and to be honest, I'm not a Sentai guy. But man,

is that show so amazing. I could probably watch

it if it had subtitles and I had it on mute.

Somebody linked on Twitter to me the Sentai version

of Forever Red. I didn't even know they had a

Sentai version. I'll have to find it. That's

weird. Why would they have a Forever Red Sentai

version and not have all their other... I don't

know if it's titled Forever Red, but it's basically

Sentai footage with all Red Rangers. Is it fan

-made? No, I don't think so. Because I was under

the impression that Forever Red was Saban only.

I'm not sure. I'm going to have to find the link

now. But I saw that and I'm like, oh, my God,

I cannot watch this because it's not in English.

Yeah. So, I mean, I'm sure if I tried to watch

Gokaiger, I could probably watch it if I had

it on mute and I just read the subtitles. But

that's still no real fun. I agree. I don't know.

All right. So now we're going to go into the

theme for this episode. Yes, my lord! Annihilate

the temple of ninja powers! I hear you, and I

obey! Yeah, I call upon Ninjor, keeper of the

temple of ninja power! You are not worthy enough

to duck in the entrance to this temple. We'll

see who's worthy after I destroy this temple

and you along with it. You and what army, you

overgrown bat? No army, just evil friends. What

now, ninja? I have a few tricks of my own. Oh,

really? It's been a while, but it sure feels

good. Come on, blue boy. As you wish. Well, looks

like everything's back on track. Yes, cool. I

finally pinpointed the source of the disturbance.

Lord Zedd has launched an attack against the

temple. Observe the viewing globe. He is seeking

to destroy Ninjor and capture the ninja power

for his own. Aye, aye, aye! A vampire! That is

one ugly critter. We've got to go, Zordon. Yeah,

we can't let vampires harm the temple. Or Ninjor.

Both Ninjor and the temple are key elements to

maintaining your powers. If either one falls

into Lord Zedd's hands, all will be lost. Can't

let that happen. What should we do? It's morphin'

time! White ranger power! Black ranger power!

Pink ranger power! Blue ranger power! Yellow

ranger power! Red ranger power! Hey, vampires,

you better back off our friend Nindor right now

if you know what's good for you. I'm surprised.

Are you dweebs going to run up and bite my ass?

still think you have what it takes to defeat

me? Even though the Mighty Morphin theme doesn't

really change over the three seasons, what I

absolutely loved was how they changed the visual

to the introduction of each season. Yeah, I agree.

And they even do it a few times during the season

too, right? They have to because they start out

with the Ninja Zords and then they go to the

Shogun Zords. Yep, that's true. Yep, I like that.

So Season 3 of Mighty Morphin basically began

airing September 2, 1995 on Fox Kids, still following

the six teenagers chosen by the wise Sage Zordon.

The third season of MMPR uses footage and elements

from Super Sentai series Ninja Sentai Kakaranger.

Regular cast members during Season 3 include

Amy Jo Johnson, David Yost, Johnny Young Bosch,

Karen Ashley. Steve Cardenas and Jason David

Frank, Jason Arby, Paul Schreier. Johnson is

later replaced by Catherine Sutherland as a new

character, but taking Johnson's character's color

and powers. I believe I said this last episode

when we talked about the movie. After the movie,

I was done. As a kid watching this, I was done.

I thought the movie was it. Yeah. I definitely

watched season three. But I don't know if this

is one of the deals. Because I was 15 at the

time. So this is about the time I got my driver's

permit. And I was still watching Power Rangers

when I could. So there was probably a couple

episodes that I missed. But I try not to miss

very much. This season, out of the three, is

the worst to me. I do love the Ninja Zords a

ton. The Shogun Zords are alright. I mean, I

think they're the worst Zords out of the three

Zords out of the three seasons. But, you know,

they're all right. But I don't know. This is

definitely the worst season out of the three

for me. And then it was hard. And trying to catch

up on the season for this podcast was hard. But

I just don't want to see little Tommy and...

little Adam and little Rocky with the, the worst

mullet ever and little in Catherine. And I just

don't, I don't want to see that. That's just

not. Then I remember, I remember after I seen

it, it's going, Oh, that's right. This is God

awful. And then again, just thinking this is

terrible. I mean, little kids do an okay job

for being little kids, but I just can't watch

that. Yeah. I don't know if they ran out of footage

or it's pretty much, they were just focusing

on, the alien Rangers. And that's why, you know,

they were, the footage was of the kids was different

or, you know, I don't know. It was just terrible.

I liked it in like, like going back and watching

it. Cause as I said, as a kid, I, I knew not

like everybody's like, you know, I, you know,

when I started getting back into power Rangers

a number of years ago, um, Everybody's like,

oh, yeah, season three and Ninjor and the Ninja

Zords. I'm like, no, no, no, no, no. The Ninja

Zords were from Dulcea in the movie and blah,

blah, blah, blah. Because as a kid, as a 15 -year

-old kid in 95, I stopped watching. I don't remember

ever seeing season three. I didn't know who the

hell Ninjor was, you know. And going back and

watching it, it's okay. I kind of wish season

three would have started with. the Ninja Quest

instead of A Friend in Need two -parter, because

A Friend in Need, I know they were using that

to cross over with Masked Rider, but I didn't

see that as a fairly good season opener. Yeah,

I was a huge fan of that Masked Rider character,

and I had no idea that it was Kamen Rider or

whatever it's called. It was Sentai. I had no

idea. I just thought it was the character on

the American version. um i hated watching those

episodes with that that like film on the planet

or whatever that like that smog it was just like

i was just like this is terrible but i did like

the mask writer character i i i in fact have

his toy and he should be appearing on one of

these episodes here pretty quick cool yeah you

know so i you know doing research for the show

i went back and i I watched a bunch of episodes

that started with Ninja Quest, and for some strange

reason, I remember about, I don't know, am I

31 now? Yeah, about nine or ten years ago, I

remember finding this and watching it again,

because I remember that they used to, on JetX,

used to have Power Rangers Generations, and they

would show all kinds of old episodes. Yep. And

I remember catching this on TV. And I kind of

liked it, but I didn't really like it. The only

really cool thing about the Ninja Zords in the

show for me was the Falcon Zord is always cool

to me no matter where it is. But I liked the

fact that the Frog Zord could hop. Yeah? I thought

that was super cool. I always like, what was

the other move that the Frog Zord did in Season

3? Wasn't there something else he did? He didn't

do the tongue, did he, like in the movie? No,

that's what I'm saying. It was something different

from the movie. He didn't do the tongue thing.

I don't remember. I don't remember either. I'm

not sure, but he did something really, really

cool, and I can't think of what the hell it was.

I still, even in show footage, even in season

three footage, I still hate the Ninja Megazord.

Why's that? The combined form. I just don't like

the way it looks. I just don't. I like the Zords

individually, and they're okay, but just the

combined form of the Ninja Megazord just doesn't...

It looks so weird. Yeah. To me, it looks like

a horrible version of Frankenstein, like something

really, really went wrong with that Zord. Wow,

that's a little much. And I don't want to sound

like I absolutely hate this season because I

do enjoy it, but it's the worst season out of

the three, is my opinion. But the thing I hate

almost worse than the little kids being, you

know, the Power Rangers turning into little kids

is this great, almighty, powerful ninjor who

created the coins, who created the power, and

who is in charge. who harnesses these new ninjetti

powers talks like Jar Jar Binks. I just, I mean,

don't judge a book by its cover, I guess, but

man, that thing, I hate listening to him talk.

This is the Jar Jar before Jar Jar. Yes, man,

it's terrible. Just like, why? I don't even know

why this is happening. I mean, he doesn't have

to be like a deep voice, you know. I don't know.

He could just be different. I could definitely

do without the pitchy ninjor. I don't want to

insult this actor because it's a great actor.

The ninja voice reminds me of a really, really,

really messed up in the mind genie. Robin Williams

genie from Aladdin. Especially with him going

in that stupid bottle, I swear. It's, oh, God.

The first thing I thought of when he starts talking

when he's in the bottle and they're like, oh,

where are you, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

The first thing I thought of, I flashed to, was

Genie from Aladdin. And I'm like, oh, my God.

And the voice, it sounds like it's such an off

imitation of Robin Williams' voice. And I know

that's not who it is. It was voiced by someone

completely. It wasn't voiced by Robin Williams.

Hell, it might have been better if it was voiced

by Robin Williams. But, yeah, I don't like Ninjor.

Yeah, I mean, I love his outfit. I love that

he helps him and all that stuff. I like how when

he gets mad, he turns into, like, you know, Ninja

Ninja or whatever it is. Yeah, Ninja or just,

oh, God. He's not a good, like, Alpha I can put

up with, you know? Balkan Skull I can put up

with, but, oh, my God. Is it his voice, or you

just don't like the character, or what? It's

his voice. Yeah, it's terrible. It's his voice

and the way the character is portrayed. It just

doesn't fit. I can't take a guy serious like

that. No. You know what that reminds me of? Suburban

Commando. Oh, my God. Where the Undertaker's

like that, like, you know, evil bounty hunter

looking for Ramsey. And he's like, you're a dead

man, Ramsey. It's like, oh, no. God. Now I have

to go back and watch Suburban Commando. Thanks

a lot, Scotty, because I don't remember the Undertaker

in Suburban Commando. Yeah, he was one of the

ones that was chasing. Oh, one of the bounty

hunters. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That sure is him.

That's nuts. So moving on to the Shogun Zords.

These, again, are not ones I cared for. I like

the Ninja Zords more than these things. Right.

Oh, I totally agree. I didn't like how they got

the Zords. Do you remember how they got them?

Yeah. Where they were like, Lord Zed was like,

hey, you're going to pilot my evil Zords, whether

you like it or not. And they're like, all right,

fine, we'll do it. And then they didn't actually

do it. But then all of a sudden, Billy did some

stuff to the circuit boards, and all of a sudden

they were good Zords. It's like, I mean, I guess

at least they changed it up and I didn't have

to go to another temple. or they didn't have

to lose their powers, or, you know, I mean, I

guess they lost their Zords, but... Yeah, they

lost the Ninja Zords, and they got replaced with

the Shogun Zords, but it's the same plot point,

the same thing with bringing Catherine's character

in, with bringing Cat in. It's the same plot

point from Season 1. It's like... As soon as

they had, oh, this is this great story, green

with evil or whatever, green whatever the hell

the first five -parter that introduced Tommy

was. It's like, oh, we have this great storyline.

Let's recycle it ten freaking times. And the

whole Zord thing was just instead of doing the,

you know, oh, my God. And see, that's the thing

with both Catherine and Tommy. They were both

good originally. And then Rita changed them,

and then they changed back. Same thing with the

Zords. I'm sure... Well, no. Didn't Lord Zedd

say he was going to create evil Zords, or did

he say... Yeah, Lord Zedd made those Zords. Okay,

so see, I thought he just found them in, like,

their dormant state. I'm pretty sure... I can't

remember now. Either he got them from the moon,

or he made them, or something like that, but

then he needed... Pilots. Oh, you know what?

No, he made the Zords out of... the other Zords,

right? When they destroyed them. That's right.

That's right. Because it was part of the... Yeah,

because they captured the Falcon Zord. That's

right. Yeah, and then the Falcon Zord turned

into a little bird. Yeah, I remember now. But

still. Bring back the Thunder Zords, damn it.

Yeah, no doubt. Oh, hell. So... Getting into...

So basically, Season 3 picks up where Season

2 left off, with the Rangers facing off against

the evil team, Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd. The

season premiere features a crossover between

the Power Rangers and Masked Rider, like I said

before. In this season, we get introduced to

Rito Revolto. I actually, surprisingly, I actually

like Rito. Yeah, there's a couple things that

I dislike about him, but I like him overall.

I don't like how, I know he had help, but, you

know, he's a badass when he comes in and he brings

these eggs and he's awesome and he's pretty tough

and he pretty much destroys the Thunder Zords,

or I'm sorry, the Ninja Zords, you know, pretty

much by itself with the help of a couple other

guys. But then later on, I know it's not until

Zeo, but then him and Goldar are like, you know,

wimps when these two guys were both badasses

at one time and now they're... walking around

digging in garbage cans looking for food. We'll

talk about that when we get to Zeo, because I

actually... Not to tip my hand, but I kind of

like them being moronic villains in Zeo. We'll

get to that when we get to it. Right. As we said

before, you also have the introduction of Catherine

Hillard. who will basically become the new Pink

Ranger because Kimberly's going to go off to

the Pan -Global Games. Bulk and Skull give up

their search for the Power Rangers identities

in order to become police officers. Oh, my God.

Those episodes were nuts. Just those scenes in

those episodes where they're trying to become

cops. Oh, my God. They just want to be guys in

uniforms. Huh? They want to become... Guys in

uniforms. I know. There's nothing cuter than

a guy in a uniform. Oh, my God. The one thing

I'll say about the season premiere, the Masked

Rider crossover thing about... I like how we're

seeing Alpha's birth planet, Edenoi. I kind of

like that because it's... Alpha's always been

the background sidekick character to Zordon and

the Rangers, and he doesn't really get any character

development in the first two seasons. So I kind

of like that. At the same time, I just couldn't

get into this three -parter. I don't know what

it was. I just couldn't get into it. I liked

it all right. I guess it was... I mean, they

pretty much took a page from the movie. Well,

I mean... I'm sure that the footage was already

shot, but it was kind of like the movie when

they go to that other planet to get their ninja

powers. I know this is before the Ninja Quest

episodes, but they go there, and the Masked Rider's

there, and he starts fighting them, and they're

like, we don't really want to fight you, kind

of like, you know, with the Dalsy or whatever.

Right. Why? They're like, Zordon. They're like,

Zordon. You know, or this time it was Alpha 5.

Did you say Alpha or something like that? Yeah.

So it was pretty much the same deal. I mean,

I can see how it continues from season two into

this and, of course, ignoring the movie completely,

which is fine. But I don't know. I just didn't

really feel this. I didn't feel the same way

watching that three -parter than I did when I

watched the movie. I don't know. Ninja Quest.

was pretty interesting, to say the least, regardless

of ninja. Like you said, Rito coming in as the

brother of Rita and bringing all these badass

things in, I thought that was really cool. Seeing

the ninja costumes more, I liked. Because in

the movie, we saw them, but we didn't really

see them, because obviously in the movie you

had to keep things moving along. Right. So I

like the fact that they got to fight more in

the ninja suits in this four -parter. Yeah, well,

they fought with the ninja suits a ton in this

season. Oh, yeah, they did. But I'm just saying,

like, seeing them, you know, seeing them get

them and seeing them, you know, use them more

rather than just, you know. It's kind of like

the samurai crap now where they morph, they'll

show you a samurai outfit, but then it immediately

goes to the ranger suit. I hate that. Yeah. What

are some of your other favorite episodes past

Ninja Quest for Season 3 here? Let's see here.

The football episode. Fourth, what was it? Fourth

down and long. Yeah. Yeah, that was probably

my favorite monster. Therefore, it's got to be

the Cinnaback, right? Yeah. The Cinnaback, yeah.

Where it was half centipede and half running

back. Oh my gosh. That was so awesome. And I

loved how... And this happens a lot, but this

sticks out in my mind where Fenster made it,

you know, pretty much on his own and he wasn't

asked. And Lord Zedd was extremely happy and

this might be the greatest he's ever done. And

Fenster was all right. He was a good guy. And

then at the very end, after the Cinnabag, you

know, gets destroyed, he was just like, you know,

you're a D -bag, Fenster. You know, why do you

even make these crappy monsters? So I just love

how they do that. Poor Finster. Yeah, he doesn't

get enough credit anymore. Yeah, I... Like, I

don't know, there's some two -parters that I

just couldn't, like, stop the hate master. I

couldn't get into that. Nah. Final face -off.

Just reading this little synopsis that it has

here. It's basically... I don't know who would

be who, but it's basically John Travolta and

Nicolas Cage in a Power Rangers episode. That's

basically what it is. I guess that's a way to

put it. Well, the only reason why I say that

is because obviously they're not replacing each

other's faces, but apparently Aisha's and Adam's

faces are stolen in battle because of this monster,

this face -stealing monster. Face -stealer or

whatever, yeah. Oh, my God. What about, which

episode was that with the artist? The Artist

Monster. The Artist Monster. I don't even remember

that episode now. Because I went back and, you

know, because I pretty much remember the season

without having to watch them. But I pretty much

watched most of the episodes again. But I remember

there being like an Artist Monster. And I can't,

it's just, it slips my mind right now. I'm not

going to look that up real quick. As we speak

here. Yeah, I'm not seeing it here. All right,

go ahead and continue, and I'll find her. So

going through, as we kind of already talked about,

the changing of the Zords, well, actually, before

I get to that, Ranger Catastrophe, parts one

and part two, is where we meet Cat, and it's

basically Tommy's story, except with a female.

And then changing of the Zords is when we get

the Shogun Zords, which, again, Meh, at best.

I agree. And then there's a little mini -episode,

not a mini -episode, but another episode, Follow

That Cab, where Vulcan, Skull, and Kimberly take

a cab to follow the culprit that committed a

crime in broad daylight. Oh my god. Then they

get trapped in the cab when the monster gets

big. Yep. And that's the episode that we get

Shark Cycles. Yep, that is that episode. Shark

Cycles, really? You love the Shark Cycles. They're

your favorites. Some of the motorcycle vehicles

in Power Rangers, I'm sorry, they suck. And then

we get the two -parter, actually the three -parter,

A Different Shade of Pink, which is basically

Kat's coming -of -age story. She's returning

to the good side. Eventually this is where we

find out about Kimberly going to the Pan -Global

Games and she chooses Kat to replace her. You

could kind of tell that was going to happen just

because there was a lot of episodes where it

didn't really seem like she was in it. Yeah.

You know, cause like one episode she was sick

and then the episode where she got caught in

a cab. So it's like, it's awful sketchy. Something,

something's not right. Yeah. There was just a

lot of seasons where she wasn't around. Yeah.

Not seasons. I'm sorry. Episodes. A lot of episodes

this season where she just wasn't around. Yeah.

That kind of is what, I mean, I kind of saw it.

It was like, There was no build -up to it whatsoever.

You knew. I mean, ever since Kat was introduced,

and since Kat started having the flashbacks within

this Different Shade of Pink multi -part episode,

you knew that she would eventually become the

next Pink Ranger. There was no surprise, like

in White Light. I mean, because in White Light,

in Season 2, you know, Zed wants to bring Tommy

back to green, and... Whatever else. Oh, my God.

What is that? It's the artist mole. Oh, okay.

I'll have to put that in the post. Artist mole.

Oh, my God. There was no surprise for me with

Cat taking over. It wasn't like with White Light

where you didn't know. I mean, Zordon and Alpha

basically hid from the Rangers. You didn't know

what was going to happen to Tommy. And this one

was just completely predictable. Yep. I thought

it was funny that she was trying to steal Tommy

away from Kimberly, though. And, in fact, she

almost, I mean, she pretty much did. I mean,

because, you know, Kimberly leaves. They never

really, like. I guess we're supposed to assume

that Kimberly and Tommy are together at some

point between White Light and now, but they never

ever really... I mean, I know it's just a kid's

show. I mean, obviously, you're not going to

have a hot love scene like on Melrose Place or

anything like that, but they never ever really

explored the Tommy -Kimberly relationship whatsoever.

Which I'm fine with that. I'm okay with it, but

still, I thought it would have, you know, I mean,

just one episode, just let him go on a date or

something without Lord Zed trying to destroy

the world. Nope. Apparently not. What it all

boils down to is Lord Zed's jealous. So, you

know, that'd be kind of like if a guy was dating

a chick that you like, you just go let the air

out of his tires because you can't make any monsters

grow or anything. Kind of like, kind of the same

deal. He likes Kimberly. Why would Lord Zed be

jealous considering he has Rita? Well, see, he

don't really like Rita. He's just settling because

Kimberly's taken. So he just figured he was going

to stop his love life. Yeah, I'm not even talking

about a chimp in charge. So the next big story

arc that we have is Master Vile and the Metallic

Armor. So first we have Rita, then we have Zed,

and then we have Zed and Rita who, Rita tricks

him into falling in love with her and they marry

each other. And then her brother, Rito, comes

in. And now her father, Master Vile, comes in.

I wonder, is Master Vile her father in the Sentai

version as well? I can only assume. I am not

sure. I don't remember him talking about that.

Yeah, I'm not sure. And we'll have to get the

Sentai info from Spada here in a minute once

we're done talking about these episodes. The

metallic armor, it didn't look like it ever changed.

Zordon was like, oh, this is upgraded metallic

armor. This will protect you in the most dire

need, but only use it when you absolutely need

it. When they used it, it's not like it changed

their uniforms from TV show versions to movie

versions. How funny would that have been if they

were just like, we need to use this metallic

armor, and then they just cut to the clip of

them fighting the birds at the very beginning

of the movie. I know. That would have been hysterical.

Yeah. I would have loved it. I wouldn't even

care. I would have been like, yep, that's the

movie. I'm happy. So this is the three -parter

where Master Vile creates Blobber, who absorbs

most of the Shogun Zords and Ninja Zords' power,

and most of the Power Rangers' individual energy.

And then Master Vile sends the Zords to another

dimension, and the Rangers go get them back.

What did you think of this three -parter? It

was all right, just because they introduced Master

Vile. It was probably just pretty much to switch

it up, because Season 2, you had Lord Zedd, and

you had Rita, and maybe you just kind of felt

like they just wanted to add something, but I

didn't mind it. Again, I don't want to sound

too negative on this season, but I did enjoy

this season. I just think it's the worst out

of the three. Yeah. I mean, I like the direction

the overall story arc is going, but I don't know.

So then we get a Christmas episode. Yep. I do

remember that. Zed and Rita send their troops

to the North Pole to capture Santa Claus and

his elves and then preventing Santa from delivering

his Christmas presents. I actually have that.

I still have that episode on VHS. Oh, my God.

I have Green with Evil 1 through 5 on VHS, and

I still have the Prima Tour, which I think was

like the first or second episode of Season 2,

and then I have the Christmas episode. I love

it. Dreaming of a White Ranger. Yup. And then

we get probably one of the worst, because we

are splitting up Mighty Morphin Season 3 and

Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers into two separate

episodes, so we're really only going to focus

on Mighty Morphin Season 3. Basically, they kind

of end... Mighty Morphin Season 3 with this final

episode, Rangers in Reverse. Yep. And that's

also the last time you see Aisha, too. Yep. Which

is sad. I don't know. I kind of like Tanya. She's

okay. Watch your mouth. I said she was okay.

I didn't say she was better than Aisha. All right.

I'll accept that. I said she was okay. I mean,

one of the things, I don't know if it's the producers

choosing the new actors or whatever, but so far,

In the constant changes of previous Rangers leaving

and bringing new Rangers in, I haven't had a

problem with any of them. Oh, no. Yeah, and I'm

not saying that. I mean, I do like Tanya. I thought

the story was kind of weak where it's like, hey,

I just met this random chick in Africa, and apparently

I know a lot about animals, so you should probably

go be a Power Ranger. I mean, I guess that's

a little bit better than, hey, I'm going to Florida

to be a gymnastics person. You'd be a Power Ranger.

I guess they all got their own story. Well, you

know, I didn't so much mind it because they went

on a journey together. They became friends throughout

that journey. And they're basically just swapping

each other's places. I mean, it's not like...

And then, thank God, her grandma or whoever that

was just happened to have that Zeo crystal. Yeah.

That was super convenient. I'm hungry and I'm

cold. I need a place to sleep. Oh, well, that's

nice. You also have the Zeo Crystal. This is

convenient. Since that they've gone over, I mean,

I know we'll get more into it next episode with

Alien Rangers, but since they've talked about

the Zeo Crystal a little bit, the only shape

of the Zeo Crystal I even like is the star. The

rest of them are just way too weird for me. Right.

And it's more so they're too weird to me on the

helmets when we get there. That's just too strange.

But we'll get to that later in the podcast. The

Zio is like a number. Yeah. That's what that

means. Because if you look at the helmets, who

is the first one? Pink? Yeah, pink is one, yellow

is two, blue is three. So on pink you have one

complete circle, so that's one. On yellow you

have two circles, so she's two. And then on blue

you get a triangle. That's three. And then on

four you have, what was it, a square or something?

Yeah, it was something or other. And then five

you get the star. So I see where it's coming

from, but still it's really weird to me. I actually

like how they did that. I'm a big fan of Zeo.

I like Zeo, but like I said... I actually have

a Power Rangers Zeo tattoo. That is just a joke.

I was going to say, because on that note, we're

going to go to Spade of the Bolt Matrix with

the Sentai stuff. Hey, gang, Spade of the Bolt

Matrix here, and this time we are taking a look

at Power Rangers Season 3 here on the Command

Center. Season 3 of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

comes from Ninja Sentai Kakaranger, which was

broadcast from February of 1994 to February of

1995. As you can tell from the title, the entire

series revolves around ninjas. This is not going

to be an in -depth look at Kakaranger, since

there really wasn't a whole lot that was used

from it. The bulk of the material from the Sentai

series doesn't show up until the Alien Ranger

saga. So, that being said, let's go ahead and

get started. What are known as the Ninja Zord,

the Falcon Zord, and the Shogun Zord in Mighty

Morphin Power Rangers are called the Three General

Gods. They are named Kakurei Daishogun, made

from the five shounen beasts, that's the Ninja

Zord. Tsubasaramaru, the Falconzord, and the

Invincible Shogun, formed from the five Kyodai

Jusho. That's the Shogunzord. These sentient

robotic gods reside in the Wind Illusion Castle

and are summoned to our plane through ninja magic

scrolls. Each one of these are called... different

names that don't make a lot of sense to us here

in the U .S., but the... biggest difference was

that they were sentient and they could communicate

with the Rangers. They kind of fulfilled this

weird kind of godly role of I will give you advice

and it really won't make sense into the last

10 minutes of the episode. Also, the sixth Ranger

of the series was called Ninja Man. He was known

as Ninjaur here in the U .S. This character was

sealed in a bottle way back in the past, like

400 years ago, and launched into space. He then

came back for no other reason because the ninjas

and the villains of the series called the Yukai

started fighting again. That makes no sense.

Did he pilot the bottle somehow? That was never,

ever once explained. All you knew is the bottle

came back to Earth and was opened up. And Ninja

Man popped out. And yes, in the series, Ninja

Man transforms into Samurai Man when he gets

mad. And he gets mad a lot. But he only gets

mad when the villains called him Big Blue Boy.

Yeah, that's a little weird. The other things

that were brought over were the villains. The

monsters were called the Yukai, Y -O -U -K -A

-I, and I'll get into their history a little

bit later. Also, Kakaranger is the series that

gave us Rito Rivolto, but here he's named Gasha

Skull, Prince of the Yukai. His father, the great

demon king Daimao, is better known as Master

Vile here in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Now

this is a little bit weird, because the word

Dai Mao literally translates to Great Demon King.

So he is the Great Demon King, Great Demon King,

is what his entire name translates to. It's a

little weird. But the biggest difference between

Gasha Skull and Rito Revolto is that Rito Revolto

was incompetent. Gash's skull was the primary

villain for the first 31 episodes of the series.

Sadly, in episode 31, he met his demise, which

was a completely calculated move by Daimao, who

ended up being the final boss of the entire show.

Also, there were no Tengus at all in this series.

The villains, or the little, I guess you could

call the cannon fodder of the series, take the

mask from screen, morph it around, put it on

different spots on the body on top of blue spandex,

and that was the villains of the series. So,

I'm really glad those didn't come over. Other

than those items that I just talked about, nothing

else was brought over. That is until the Alien

Rangers saga, which is what we'll be talking

about next time. Until then, this has been Spade

of the Vault Matrix, and I'll catch you guys

next time. That's our boy Spada. giving everybody

the lowdown on the Sentai version. I actually

really look forward to listening to him because

he saves me a lot, a lot of time on watching

all these Sentai episodes. Because eventually

I'm probably going to go back and watch some

of them. And if he tells me that, hey, this is

a pretty cool season because this and this, I'll

probably watch it sooner than later. But yeah,

he always gives good info and tells you everything

you need to know. Yeah, we'll have him on the

show eventually. I want to kind of wait until

we get further into the series. Maybe by the

time we either get to the Dino Thunder series

or after we do the Dino Thunder episode, we'll

have him on just as like a special episode, kind

of like just an overall discussion, stuff like

that. He's a really cool guy. He does get a lot

of great information, and he is a huge Power

Rangers fan. I mean, he does. Power Ranger Tour

reviews every now and then. He also does Transformers

stuff as well. So thank you again to Spada. The

Sentai that was used for this and for Alien Rangers

is what we'll talk about next time. Sounds really

weird. Yeah, it was kind of confusing. I actually

listened to it about two or three times just

to make sure I was understanding. What happened

was pretty much their Sentai version, we didn't

use a lot of footage from except for on the Alien

Rangers, which, you know, again, we won't cover

until next time. But pretty much our Season 3

is just stuff that we made or past stuff, you

know, like reused or whatever. Yeah. So. Yeah.

So getting into the music, there really isn't

a whole lot of change this season. You still

have Ron Wasserman doing the theme and the additional

music. Well, they got that new song, not the

Zeo song, what's it called? I don't remember.

They use it through the entire thing, like when

the Ninja Megazords finally are... Oh, yeah,

yeah, yeah. I can't remember what it is right

now. Yeah, I know what you're talking about.

Yeah, that was pretty cool. Other than that,

it's pretty much the same music. Honestly, I

think that's pretty much it for Season 3, because

like I said before, as far as merchandise release,

I guess if you want to talk... If you want to

talk about some of the toys, we can do that.

I'm assuming there were toys of the Shogun. Oh,

no doubt. Yeah, people need to understand that

Saban got into this industry for money. I mean,

obviously, there's no producer or director out

there going, I just do it because I love it and

I donate all my money to the Boys and Girls Club

because they're lying. But Saban pretty much

just puts a half an hour commercial together

every week. So he's all about, uh, cells. So

yeah, there was, there was every single toy you

see in season three or every almost, almost,

uh, all the stuff from season three you see as

a toy. So definitely, I mean, in one of my favorite

toys was the, uh, the vampire thing that Rito,

what was his vampires? Vampires monster. Yeah.

That was one of my favorites. He was always a

bad -ass. When I was younger. You know what I

mean? Like, if I was messing with him or playing

with him, he was always a tough one. So, yeah,

they definitely had the Shogun Megazord and the

Ninja Megazord. You know what we need to make

mention of? What's that? In the movie, the Ape

Zord was a big, giant ape. And in the TV show,

the Ape Zord is an ape ninja man. Yeah, that's

TV show budget for you. Yeah, it's terrible.

That's what that is. That fucking ape was extraordinarily

awesome. Amazing in that movie. The colors were

beautiful. Obviously, you're not going to be

able to do the same kind of thing for TV. But,

I mean, they could have made a monkey, dude.

They could have made a big -ass monkey. But instead,

we got a running ape man guy. With swords. This

is exactly why I don't like the... I don't really

care for the movie version of the Ninja Megazord

until you make it the Ninja Falcon Megazord.

But I can handle the movie version. It's okay

because we only see it for five or ten minutes,

if that. But the TV version, that's exactly why

I don't like the TV version because of the Abe

Zord that they used in the TV show. Right. I

mean, at least he's a lot smaller in the TV show.

Yeah. It makes sense when he becomes the arm.

But like in the movie when it's like, hey, look,

I'm the biggest Zord, and now I'm just an arm.

It's like, well, where does it go? Where's the

rest of his body? We're going to pump you up.

Yeah. Exactly. Yes. But I really do like that.

I'm pretty sure we may have mentioned this before,

but how when they don't have any weapons. When

they punch, like, you know, he uses, like, the

monkey and the wolf. And, like, one of his moves

was the falcon zord, like, pretty much, like,

flying and, you know, pretty much like a spear,

I guess, if you will. Yeah, I thought the effects

on that was really, really cool. Oh, no doubt.

And I did not remember that. No doubt. Yeah,

I definitely remember. That was pretty amazing.

it for Season 3. I like the overall story arc

that they're doing. I guess Alien Rangers could

technically, you had said to me off air, could

technically be season four. And really, if you

really want to look at it, Zeo could technically

be season five. Yeah. Of the Mighty Morphin'

Era. Well, yeah, that's how definitely people

look at it. Yeah. At least up to the point that

they get replaced in Turbo. I guess part of Turbo

could be Season 6. I know that's stretching the

truth, but... There's a Turbo movie, and then

that's it, right? There's no other movies? Yeah,

there's the Turbo movie, and then there's not

really any other movies to start. What they've

done is they'll... They may have released the

first two. Say the opening episodes of one of

the series is a two -parter or a multi -parter.

They may have released that on a DVD and advertised

it as, oh, Power Rangers Mystic Force, the movie.

But as far as official feature -length films,

Turbo or Power Rangers movie is it. Yeah. That's

another good thing about Sentai over Power Rangers.

almost every one of their series, they have a

movie, you know, it might not be, Hey, go to

the movie theater and watch this, but they always

do like a versus movie. Yeah. And you know, most

of the time they fight, but they ended up teaming

up against, you know, so -and -so and they're

all, you know, I've seen a couple of those and

those are pretty sweet. I would, I so wish that

they would do that with, with pot Rangers. Cause

the only thing they're doing is losing all the

money by not doing that. Yup. And I don't know.

That's just silly to me that he doesn't do it.

Yeah, it's very silly. Before we did the recording

tonight, I did check iTunes. We still have that

one review that I mentioned last episode. No

new reviews, but From the Command Center is in

iTunes now for those of you that use iTunes.

from somebody. I totally forgot, but the only

thing it said pretty much was... We need to stop

being so serious. And I was like, I couldn't

tell if they were being sarcastic or what, so

point of reviewing something on a podcast is

to look at it analytically and to break it down.

Yes, I know I nitpicked a little bit too much

last episode with the movie. But in future episodes,

especially probably next episode, expect a lot

of negativity from me. Expect negativity once

we get to Mystic Force. Some of the stuff just

isn't good, but some of the stuff is awesome.

I don't understand why people have a problem

with Lost Galaxy. Or, you know, some people have

problems with Lightspeed Rescue. I love those

seasons. I mean, really where it drops off for

me, as far as the future seasons, is Wild Force.

Wild Force is god -awful, except for Forever

Red. But the whole point for me doing podcasting

is to analyze the thing that I'm reviewing. So

if I'm negative... They didn't really... He didn't

really say negative. He said, stop being so serious.

And he didn't say... Tell Mike or you, Scott.

Right, yeah. I'm not even sure what they were

talking about, you know. So, yeah. For those
